I couldn't be happier with my remodeled California Closet. The previous model, while stylish and well designed, was for a man - there was no way to hang anything longer than shirts & pants. The new design they came up with DOUBLED my hanging space, with half of that for hanging long items like gowns and full length coats. Now, my treasured gowns & coats are no longer being crushed under a storage bed and I look forward to dressing - I can see all of my clothes and I don't have to wrestle everything else out of the way to retrieve an item. This is the second property in which we have had CC products installed. Both times we have worked with the same designer who has been very helpful in turning our concepts into reality. The installation is scheduled well in advance. The installers arrive on time, work very efficiently to install the products are are invariably polite and helpful. This second time some minor trim was omitted during the installation. This was quickly rectified with the brief return visit. Definitely recommended!

I just had my closets installed last week. They look beautiful, and I absolutely love them. My designer Heather listened to my requirement and we did a bit changes here and there after the first version of 3D design. The guys who did installation came on time and they did brilliant job! They worked till 8pm on Friday to complete the project. Now the closets in all my bedrooms look well organized , neat , and still have space for new stuff...

We visited the California Closets on February 1st, 2018. The showroom makes a very good impression and we had a tour of the factory behind which is also very clean and well organized. We bumped into the owner, Stephan, who also made a good first impression. So we made an appointment for an at home consultation for February 9th. The date was written into the computer and they wrote it down for us too. Later the evening before February 9th we received a 'confirmation email' with a different appointment date on it; February 15th (minus one star). The date of February 9th was not mentioned. It was odd to receive a confirmation email 'hours' before the original appointment, and a week after we visited the showroom. Why not just email the confirmation 1 day after visiting? So I emailed the owner, Stephan, about this, but he never bothered to reply to me (minus one star). This whole episode wasted a week. Finally, we got the in home consultation with a quote of CAD $4,515. In hindsight, counting up the pieces of wood / mostly chip board used in the finished product then we have the following: 12 vertical, 24 horizontal, 5 door fronts, and 2 drawers at 3 piecs of wood per drawer. Gives a grand total of 47 pieces of wood / chipboard. Just to give you an idea then CAD $4,515 / 47 = CAD $96 per piece of wood / chipboard. Of course, there's also hardware and labour. But you can already see that this is on the expensive side (minus star). As a comparison, a much thicker White Melamine Particleboard from home depot costs under CAD $20. The amount of legal small print on the quote was surprisingly high and the unfairness of it in favour of California Closets was also surprising. For example, "Cancellation after 3 calendar days - 35% cancellation charge will apply." or "Once drawings have been signed by the Customer, a 2% fee (minimum of $250) will be charged for making any changes to the design." And they want 50% deposit up front. In our case, our 47 bit of wood / chip board were ready for install 7 weeks and 1 day later. Or 10 weeks after our initial visit to the showroom. I'm just going to do one minus star for all the unfair legal blurb and the high deposit and very long waiting period. On the install day the things went pretty quickly. Two guys took a couple of hours. However, a couple of pieces of chip board were damaged (minus star). There was also a vertical piece with burn marks in some of the drilled shelf holes. The installer tried to argue with me that it was "just the way the light hit it"... very silly. Anyway, they came back two business days later with the replacement pieces. However, one piece was still incorrect. Then unbelievably they came back a few hours later that same day with a fresh replacement. Now it was completely fixed and installed. However, this leaves me perplexed as to how they have such a short turnaround for 3 pieces but 47 pieces took over 7 weeks. On the original install day we decided that we also need two more shelves and I contacted our 'designer' to order them. The cost was CAD $98.70 for both total. They also custom produced those extra shelves in time for the installation fix visit two business days later. Mysteriously when they finally took the money then they sent us a receipt but it didn't include the extra shelves. At first I thought they might have included them for free due to messing up the installation twice. However, later I noticed that they simply took the money from the credit card as a separate transaction. And they never sent any receipt etc for the shelves. This seems unprofessional (minus star). So in summary our California Closet experience could have been 4 out 5 stars if it was just the enormous price for the custom closet using relatively cheap materials. But because of the initial delays, being ignored by the owner, the huge wait, the install botched multiple times, arguments from the installer, & the shelves without a receipt... did I forget anything? I'm forced to give 1 star. My advice would be to do better price comparison before choosing California Closets.

Trying to furnish and make our house feel like a home was hard with most businesses closed or incredibly backlogged due to the pandemic. We set out trying to find a local company to help turn our den into a much more usable space with a built-in desk/storage/bookshelf but found that most local companies were charging an arm and a leg and had incredibly delayed installation dates. I always thought that since California Closets is a high-end luxury product that it was going to be out of our price range, but with the frustrations of not being successful with other options decided to reach out to them, and I couldn't be more happy of that decision! We had the pleasure of being paired with Steph Pollard and she was incredible! So professional, always responded quickly and was able to build off our design and suggest new ideas that made the space even better! And to top it all off, was able to complete our dream space in less than 6 weeks and within our budget which was around half the price of all other local companies we reached out to! We will absolutely be using them again for any future projects and have been recommending them to all our friends and family!

I had a rough idea of what I wanted for my media/storage/bar unit design when I walked into California Closets and met Designer Steph Pollard. Steph was integral in putting it all together with her expertise and product knowledge. She was able to incorporate every idea I had into the design, like the pull out table in the bar cabinet for example. I also appreciated her honesty and suggestions as she is quite experienced and has seen many other similar projects come to life. The communication throughout the planning, design, delivery and follow up was excellent. I'd also like to thank the two gentlemen (Tom and Lukas) who installed the finished product. They were amazing! There was a panel that had a slight imperfection (one I may not have even noticed). They immediately made a call and a new panel was promptly sent to replace it. They took great care to protect my floors and any surfaces nearby, and they were just genuinely friendly, thoughtful guys. I greatly appreciated their help with mounting my TV, something they didn't need to do, but went above and beyond to do out of kindness. This allowed us to see the finished look, and saved me a great deal of time. We took photos of the finished product and I posted them on my Facebook page with many comments of how beautiful, stylish and high quality it looks. I would highly recommend California Closets to my friends and will be back for my future needs. Thank you!

We chose to go with CC thinking they were a reputable brand and could be trusted over say an independent carpenter and were worth the extra money. We were wrong. We used them to do an installation of an entertainment centre in our home. We were very impressed by the professionalism of their designer. However, they hit a pipe when installing the pieces, causing thousands of dollars of damage and delaying the completion of the installation by weeks. They do not have the correct equipment to tell a stud from a pipe. Completely unacceptable. Their response when this happened? They called a plumber to fix the pipe but left us to make the repairs through our insurance. They did not proactively do anything else to help us with the damage. After asking and then demanding some compensation they kicked us back some money, not enough to even cover our insurance deductible. The finished work looks good but was absolutely not worth this horrible experience and added cost. The owner was also very rude, confrontational and obviously did NOT care a bit about us or what happened. He hid behind their contract that indemnified CC and admitted this happens a few times a year. I would not recommend them and will definitely not be back.

Very happy with it. I particularly appreciated the extra efforts that your representative, Sharlene, went to. She provided us with extra clothes racks that we could move our clothes to while we were taking the old shelves out. She even drove all the way across the city to get us a few extra ones when we needed more space, which was incredibly helpful. The installation went very smoothly and I'm very happy with the finished product. My only complaint is that we were told in an email that the installer would arrive between 9:00-9:30am and when he called he said that his arrival slot was actually for 9:30-10:30am. So there was a mix-up in the communication of the time somewhere. Not that big of a deal though -- just something to watch out for in the future.

We had closets installed in both bedrooms that look fantastic. We also had an entertainment centre built. This was a very tricky job and Danielle had to visit us several times to get it all organized. Well, it is done now and is amazing. We had a 55 inch TV installed on a bracket and a beautiful electric fireplace installed at the bottom. It couldn't be more perfect. Our designer, Afton, was amazing. She came in for the quote and stayed for over 2 hours getting to know our needs, taking the time to view what clothes and other items needed to be stored and made all the necessary adjustments, then put it on her laptop and showed it to us in 3D mode. Than was amazing in itself. I had another company, thru Costco, and he was in and out within 20min, and was proposing to take out what I had, and re-installing something very similar. His quote was approx $2500, where as California Closets quote was in the vicinity of $1800. The installer, Hayden, came alone as we thought that there would be at least 2 people doing the job. He came at 9:30am and left at 3:30pm. He worked for 6 hrs straight and didn't even take time for a break. He was very thoughtful in taking care of our walls by placing a towel against the wall when placing the wooden panelling against them. He was very experienced, polite and had a certain professionalism in his workmanship. We were extremely pleased at the final outcome, and are excited to see it every morning. The existing closet in my new condo bedroom was poorly planned and not suitable. I wasn’t sure I could afford a California Closet but was pleased to find the price to be within my budget. COVID made our initial appointment necessarily remote but it was surprisingly easy to come me up with a good plan. Delivery was on schedule, quick and clean. To my surprise I am able to fit both my summer and winter clothing in the closet, something I have not been able to do before. I actually have one empty drawer now!

Our design consultant, Emma Beatty designed the layout of our reach-in master bedroom closet and our reach-in entry hall closet. We are very happy with the products she recommended and the finishes. I initially contacted California Closets with an idea of a custom shoe cabinet for our son's birthday with the possibility of looking at our very basic mudroom to make it more functional. Danielle LaPointe was our designer and she was absolutely lovely to work with. She took my very general ideas and came up with two designs that not only met, but exceeded our expectations. Her designs are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. I am in love with the abundance of functional storage in our mudroom design; we went from a very basic bench with hanging hooks to a custom built-in that is perfectly designed to store everything from our dog's extensive wardrobe and supplies right down to hats, shoes, keys, sundries, you name it! Now, everything has a place and I could not be happier. Our son is equally pleased with his custom shoe cabinet and storage unit, and to be honest I wish I had such a fabulous display unit for my own shoe collection, LOL! Mike and Lukas completed our installation job. Hard working, pleasant, and talented, these two young men did a fabulous job installing our projects, and we really appreciate how they were so mindful of being tidy in our home. We really appreciate the good care they both took, and the final results are really stunning in our opinion. From my first call, I had two in house meetings and two or three phone conferences. The quality of the product is very good. The office that organized and managed the installation was very proactive in setting up times and making sure everything happened on time. The people I worked with were very professional - form the designer to the installers. The installers were clean and very careful in bringing the parts upstairs to my apartment. They cleaned up the site as they worked and made sure the room was left in perfect order. They were happy to make adjustments to a shelf when I realized my printer was too high.
