We were very lucky to work with Claire Jefford Consulting. We began planning a main floor renovation over a year ago. We started with a kitchen designer and although they were wonderful with the layout and functional design of the new kitchen we were on our own as far as cabinet colours, counter, flooring, backsplash and paint colour. At this point we asked Claire to step in and advise us on all the hard and soft finishes needed throughout the main floor. She worked with us on a questionnaire about our style of decorating and design and asked us to make a collection of photos of favourite rooms. Using her large colour board samples she picked out colours from the artwork we already had. After choosing the kitchen materials and colours as well as flooring and paint colours throughout, Claire brought us fabric and carpet samples to help meld the kitchen look with the rest of the main floor. So many decisions! But with Claire's advice and eye for colour, texture and pattern we were able to order sofas, drapery and an area rug that all worked beautifully together. It helped immensely. We would have just kept picking our favourite thing in each category with no understanding of how the choices would (or wouldn't) work together. Claire is very organized and communicates well with clients. Invoices were prompt and detailed so we always knew where we stood in the project. Claire also has a skilled team of contractors, furniture makers and drapery makers who carry out the making of the final products. It is finally all completed and we will now get to enjoy living in our 'new' house.

My husband and I had moved into a new house a year ago and had only the bare minimum furniture for a whole year - our LR only had a couch and our DR only a dining table. A year later of work taking over both our lives and our main floor becoming unwelcoming and unusable, we decided to hire Claire (after looking at many Houzz reviews) to get a designer's opinion of what they would do with our main floor. All we wanted at the start was a drawing, showing some design that can reuse some of the furniture we had already spent money on, paint colours, artwork suggestion, furniture placements etc. without the pressure to continue working with the designer. But working with Claire really changed everything for us. We got a fantastic drawing that Claire tweaked many times to match our tastes, style, budget. She was also great at recommending how to phase the renovations based on the budget at home - to me this was extremely valuable advice so that we don't have future rework. It was a drawing you could take to any contractor to get the work done, but we decided to go with a Contractor that Claire has worked previously with and the Contractor's work also deserves a thumbs up. The construction and installs looked exactly like the drawing. They were thorough and left my house clean at the end of every work day. My husband and I are both engineers and we really loved Claire's attention to detail and her patience to check and recheck every detail so that we (Claire, the contractor and us) were all on the same page at every step of the project timeline. We hope to have Claire renovate our bedrooms as well in the future!
