We had a good experience with Barry Homes. A storm ripped some shingles off of our roof. The owner himself came out to check and give us a quote. It did take a couple weeks to get it done, but we were not in a rush as he had confirmed nothing would leak. Happy with the fix and will use the company for our renovations we need done soon.

I've drafted several projects for Barry Homes. They usually build near Blackstrap and have to build on the high slope bank which makes the projects challenging so building normal houses is no problem. I also did a project with them to be located at Elk Ridge. So they may be willing to travel a bit for your project.

Their suggestions on colors and materials were so helpful. If you wanted to take out a window move a wall always upfront about the cost. I would recommend Barry Homes to anyone needing a new home. They really treat you like family and always answer questions.

Building with Barry Homes was the worst experience of our life. We would not recommend building with Barry Homes to anyone. Nothing during the build process went smoothly. We had a total of four liens placed on our title. We had to negotiate through lawyers to get Barry Homes to pay their subtrades so we could move our construction mortgage to a conventional mortgage. It took arbitration to remove the fourth lien on our title. Currently there are still deficiencies remaining on our house in which Barry Homes has not repaired, and a one year walkthrough has yet to be completed (should have been done in June 2016). If you are going to build with Barry Homes we highly recommend you take a copy of the build contract to your lawyer and financial institution BEFORE you sign it and pay the deposit.

What can I say, the process, staff, neighborhood all deserve a 5 star rating. My family and I worked with Wendi who went well beyond as our sales agent to helping us search for furniture, tips on staging our previous property and making sure the process was as smooth as possible. She even went to the home to make measurements for our new fridge! We are very happy with our home and feel that we could not have received better service.

We wanted to build our dream home but the owner, Greg Barry, made the build and 1 year warranty walk through a total nightmare. His professionalism, lack of accountability and customer service is terrible. Barry Homes has a history of not paying their trades and ripping off their customers, so we hired a lawyer during the build to guard our interests. This was great during the build but Barry Homes still found a way to screw us over after they were paid. Greg lied his way through parts of the build so he wouldn't have to pay to correct problems that were caused by his direction and then collected on our City of Saskatoon incentives which is many thousands of dollars. Watch out for Greg Barry at Home Shows in Saskatoon. He will sell you a pitch claiming to be a "hands on builder" but the trades do all of the work. The Barry Homes 'team' are friendly, yes, but a little too friendly.

My husband and I recently moved to Saskatoon and were looking for a home builder - we are SO happy we came across Barry Homes. They helped us find a lot and built our very first home! Not only did they help us find a place to stay in the meantime, but they were so patient and understanding with us (we are first time homeowners). I never would have dreamt the process would go so smoothly - honestly I was expecting so many hidden and extra costs but the Barry family was up front and worked within our budget. You hear so many horror stories about contractors but I can't speak enough to the hospitality we received from the Barry's! Highly recommended

Terrible experience!!! We started building a home with Barry Homes approximately 4 years ago and ended up finishing it ourselves. We had many legal and financial issues with this company and are still not done with all the legal pieces.... unpaid subs, unpaid suppliers, financial questions, contractual questions, the general contractor not checking the home regularly, sending out trades without clear directions ( just to name a few of the problems). We were able to work through the entire mess ourselves, but it sure defeated the purpose of hiring a general contractor to build our house. They were way more hassle than they were worth. If you are even considering hiring this company, be sure to hire a lawyer, check all transactions, check to make sure that the subtrades are being paid, make sure that you talk to someone who really built a home with Barry Homes and check out the people who have reviewed this company by clicking on them to see where they are located!! Do your homework before getting yourself into a legal mess.

In November 2015 I was contracted Barry Homes Inc.to build a fence for his client. I did demo of old fence, and supplied materials and have built new fence. I was supposed to get paid within 2 weeks from completion. Turned out that Barry Homes got paid from the client and I didn't get a single dollar. It's October 2019 so 4 years later still no money- not after a settlement he signed in court, not after Court Judgement against him! Greg Barry thinks he's above the law and does what he wants.. There are even 2 new companies that he opened ! Goes to home shows in the area like nothing happened! Barry homes inc is no longer a member of Saskatoon and Region Home Builders Association due to their history of not paying their trades and subcontractors. BE AWARE!
