Recently moved to Calgary. We had the idea of redecorating the whole ground floor of an open concept with additional Four Season built on. It always pays to get a good designer who is attentive and understands your needs and wants. We sought out a designer and came across Uniik Designs. They provided us with colour paper designs of each room with photographic samples. Both Quinn and Maria helped us reach our goal of a modern /contemporary style including the purchase of all new furniture in entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen area and Four Season room, including selection of art work, area carpets and cushions and wall paper on feature walls. They also helped select gorgeous chandeliers and pendant lighting over the large kitchen island. They were very good at sourcing all furnishings and art work / accessories and area rugs. On impulse we bought a house on the perfect lot, in the perfect location, but the interior was circa 1978 complete with orange carpeting and sunken living room. We gutted the entire house and started our full home renovation with Uniik Design guiding us along the way. We found Maria to be an excellent and innovative designer who worked well with us and our contractor (Timber Wolff Designs). Maria listened carefully and studied our inspiration photos to understand our vision. Then she put her creative and ‘Uniik’ designs into a plan for us. Her 3D schematic drawings were excellent and helped us visualize our goal as the project progressed. Our contractor reported that the construction drawings were accurate, complete and among the best drawings they had worked with. When it came time to choose hard surfaces, finishes and furniture Maria met us at the showrooms to help us make our choices. She took the lead to give us our desired look and feel, while managing color, texture and the flow from room to room. While she was respectful of our preferences, she used her expertise to steer us in the right direction to achieve the look/function we were wishing for. We found Maria to be kind, generous with her time, and willing to discuss concerns and explore new ideas with us. Her confidently humble personality sets her apart from other designers that we interviewed, and her pricing was much more reasonable than many of her competitors. In fact, her economical referrals (eg. to have furniture custom-made) along with her designer’s discounts added up to very significant savings – enough to pay her fees!! So, we were able to build a ‘stellar’ home for about the same cost as building a ‘not-so-stellar’ home without her. We would never attempt another renovation without her help! We are convinced that Uniik Design has some of the best design talent in Calgary, and they are able to meet the design needs of their clients at a very reasonable price. We love our new one-of-a-kind home and are very proud to share it with our friends and family. Even as experienced renovators, we could not have achieved our dream home without them. Uniik assisted us with our renovation. Going into the process we were not sure exactly what we wanted/needed. They brought great ideas, guidance and helped us thru the process. Overall the process was great and the end result fantastic!
