I hesitated to write a review, especially a negative one but there is only one recent review and this has really bothered me ever since. I wanted to make sure I had good colour combinations and style for cabinets. We were renovating the kitchen, 2 bathrooms and replacing hardwood throughout. Huge job, especially because the whole house was being repainted - ceilings and walls throughout. I thought I was pretty clear with Stacy about the colours I like and what we were thinking for flooring, cabinets in kitchen and bathrooms and tiles. When it came time for her to show us samples and layouts, she didn't get anything right that I had told her. She kept insisting on vinyl floor tiles, which I told her I did not want because the house is older and I wanted to be true to the vintage. We went to her office thinking she would have lots of samples to choose from. All she had was one vinyl floor tile, cabinets that were not the white ones I asked for and nothing for the bathrooms. I told her it was extremely important to me that we use Canadian manufacturers for everything. She gave me a kitchen cabinet sample from the U.S. Why, when there are so many cabinet makers in Barrie and Canada! She didn't have any of the layouts placed the way we had talked about. And then she said I should do the running around looking for tiles, flooring and cabinets and bring them back to her. I chose a designer so that she would do the running around, and present design ideas. I paid her $1,000 to do this for me. I thought that was reasonable. Until she didn't do any of the work. I questioned her about all this and she said she was really busy and didn't want to turn us away. Which she didn't tell us from the get-go. Had she told us she was really busy, I would have looked for someone else. She said she would return $500. I said to her that that was our agreement and I didn't feel right going back on what we agreed upon (what an idiot I was!). She even said she didn't earn it. But she didn't return any of our money. So, she may have 5 star reviews and she truly may be great at what she does. Just make sure she has time for you and can do what you ask for. As for us, we are using a designer from Home Hardware of all places and couldn't be happier! Listened to what I was asking, made suggestions and their contractor is awesome! Canadian company, cabinets from Quebec, countertops from Barrie, flooring from Ontario!

We have a log home originally built in 1874. The house needed a complete renovation. It was a huge project that included new floors, bathrooms, kitchen, heating and finishing. Stacey manged the whole project for us including design, finding, co-coordinating and working with contractors and looking after quality control. We couldn't have been happier with the result. Stacey is very organised and responsive and really pays attention to detail. We also had Stacey's counterpart, Nilton Teixeira of Simply Renovate do a lot of the actual work and the results were equally great. We were so happy with the outcome that we have booked Simply Design and Simply Renovate for our next project this summer.

After shopping around Barrie for the best avenues to design and renovate our kitchen, we settled on Simply Design (simplydesign.ca) located at 80 Bradford St in Barrie. We could not have made a better choice. Stacey Kost paid her own way between store discounts and the time we saved. Stacey came up with the drawings for approval, helped choose colours and fixtures, had on-site meetings with the contractors to align colours schemes and design work, pulled together an accurate itemized estimate, scheduled the trades, shopped for the product options, made purchases on our behalf, met with us at stores, tracked the costs and payments with regular reports, provided daily on-site inspections, insisted on quality results, and took action when correction was needed. She handled unexpected repairs within budget and did not hesitate to have work re-done when it did not meet her standards. Our final kitchen workflow is exceptional without having to change walls or doorways. The cabinetry is beautiful and nicely accented with consistent light fixtures across three rooms. Stacey extended the kitchen design theme right through the dinette with a natural flow into the living room. The custom cabinets were made to exceptionally high standards. Our cramped kitchen evolved into a highly functional chef's dream. Stacey has extensive trade contacts as well as an experienced partner for 2nd opinions, a head for store selection and discounts, budget worksheets that reflect planned versus actual as well as paid versus upcoming invoices. She made sure everyone got paid and kept to their quotes. Stacey is easy to work with and she understands that small errors can make a big difference. She had no difficulty co-ordinating the efforts of plumbers, electricians, gas fitters, dry-wallers, framers, tilers, painters, installers, and cabinet makers, along with deliveries, inspections, and demolition removal. She was able to set realistic expectations and follow through on technical problems with an accurate final accounting. Basically Stacey worked through every stage of the project, from design and feature selection, through demolition, unexpected repairs, construction, installations, and cost accounting. The result is an absolute delight, and we cannot thank Stacey enough for her hard work! It was a pleasure to work with her.

She was very professional and pleasant to work with, giving great insight to latest trends and colour schemes that coordinated better than we had ever imagined, and was extremely patient with my own indecisiveness on designs!
