If you have been wanting to hire an interior designer but have been sitting on the fence due to cost or some other fear holding you back - then this review is for you. When we finally took the plunge and hired Katie with DWK, I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! It's not an intimidating process at all! Katie is friendly, knowledgeable, kind - and she listens to you and what your motivators are for redesigning your space as well as your likes/dislikes and your budget. She presented us with a variety of options - not just on cost but different styles too and helped us come up with a vision for our living room that left us really excited. We honestly couldn't wait for the big reveal day - and seriously this is the best part - it was all done in one day!! And what a difference...wow.... She transformed our main living space with furniture, rugs, art, décor and even incorporated some of what we had already. The living room went from an average spot that played second best to the basement couch to the main focus of our house - you want to use and be in a beautiful space - trust me. We love spending time in there now and we are so proud when people come over that we have this gorgeous spot to sit with friends. And the cost? Honestly, it was super reasonable. For all of the furniture, drapery, décor, rugs, art, and labour - I thought the price was more than fair. Do not let fear hold you back - do this for yourself - I promise you won't regret it! Our introduction to DWK Interiors was via their social media presence. We were initially drawn to their portfolio and reviews, but will continue our engagement with DWK and more specifically with Mhairi, based on her design clairvoyance, professionalism and personalized design approach. My husband and I went into the initial consultation with great hesitation as we had never worked with a designer and were concerned with their ability to capture our aesthetic, let alone get each of us on the same page. Mhairi’s authenticity led us to take a leap of faith and we could not be more pleased with the process from beginning to end. The first design proposal was astonishingly exactly what we were looking for, even if we didn’t know it going into the process. Her suggestions were so bang on that my husband and I were shocked that we agreed on everything and our working session went by quickly and efficiently. Mhairi worked within our budget to procure quality products and kept us engaged throughout the process. We were away quite a bit while this was going on, but we were able to relax knowing the Mhairi had things under control and kept us apprised of what was happening as it happened. Probably most surprising was the emotion we both felt at the reveal. When we met with Katie, we assigned her a big task - make our main floor (which has a tricky layout) functional, relaxing, and family friendly, with lots of spaces to play games, read books, watch tv and hang out. We also wanted it to look beautiful and magazine-worthy. The project included living room furniture, dining room furniture, window coverings and décor. She asked lots of questions to ensure she had the right vision and budget in mind before she presented us with her ‘look book’. She wanted to make sure the space had a style that we envisioned, as well as function for what we really needed out of the space. Her ‘look book’ provided different furniture options, with a break-down of pricing, so we were able to choose which pieces we loved the most. She was very upfront about the pricing and lead times, even including estimates for any additional costs that might be incurred with the project. She was always very respectful of our overall budget and was very organized through the entire process. She is incredibly detailed and responsive, and not only selected the most perfect pieces of furniture, which we are absolutely in love with, but she did all of the décor and styling, pulling the room into a cohesive, finished look. Katie made the entire project as stress-free as possible, and we could not be more thrilled with how our main floor looks. It really does look straight out of a magazine.

I was hesitant about purchasing furniture sight unseen and without actually sitting on sofas and chairs, etc. I need not have worried. Mhairi shared specific specs and measurements with us in advance to answer all of my questions and the quality and comfort of the pieces is excellent. They communicated with us regularly throughout the process and kept us updated on progress and scheduling, which helped build our excitement. Most impressive is that they have helped us create a space that just feels so “us” - it encapsulates our tastes, style and how we live in and use each space. I did worry that using a designer we would end up with a space that felt staged or didn’t suit us or our lifestyle. In actual fact, I don’t think we could have achieved something so perfect for us without their help. It seems they got to know us even better than we know ourselves! The space was awkward and bare with some heirloom pieces that looked like they didn’t belong.
