I gave birth at HFWB recently and the entire expierence was amazing. From my prenatal care, to the birthing classes I signed up for, to the actual delivery. The entire staff was so attentive and knowledgeable. I transfered to HFWB prenatal care during the 5th month of my pregnancy due to being highly unsatisfied with my previous OBGYN. HFWB was highly recommended by several of my friends. I saw Simmerman and Davidson through the majority of my visits and they are fantastic doctors. Both of them I would highly recommend. I would advise against Goldfarb as he seemed the least knowledgeable during my visits and didnt even read my chart prior to my appointment and ignored my questions that I had from a follow up appointment. Luckily I only saw him once due to not being able to schedule myself with one of my other two doctors. At 38 weeks, I had to have an emergency csection, which was not something I was mentally prepared for and the entire staff did an amazing job calming my nerves and prepping me for my baby. It felt like they actually cared and it made me so much more relaxed. Post baby stay, I had another amazing group of nurses who took care of me and my baby and were so helpful, sweet and knowledgeable about everything. Super attentive during my entire stay and made me feel so comfortable. The entire facility is beautiful and comfortable to stay in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a baby!

You have the worst care ever ever. My wife delivered here in this hospital and she had dark days and night because of the treatment and attitude she received from the nurse . Your nurses are rude disrespectful evils. They treat the patient like nothing. It was our first baby in our family life. You should reconsider your staff professionalism. There is nothing personal it just feedback for you because there way of treating patients hurt . I hope this is helpful! Thanks

Do not consider having your child here. Their Labor and delivery is a joke and the nurses who are supposed to look after you after think they own you and your child and will attempt to do what they want, when they want without consulting you. I️ had to tell them several times not to touch or attempt to take my healthy newborn without permission and without letting me know why. The nurses act like they’re playing house with your child and will treat you like trash if you ask questions. One had the nerve to ask me why I️ wanted to know how long my sons circumcision would take! All nurses who worked with me on 11/12-11/14 2017 were condescending and rude except one named Mary. They will misdiagnose and use your insurance for their financial gain. Consider other options.

Worse hospital you can possibly go to!! I waited 3 1/2 hours in the emergency room, how does someone with an emergency get neglected for 3+ hours, and the nurse was very rude and sarcastic. If you value your health don’t come here!

Doctor lost my clothes house keys and car keys after doctor had me hand over my things to be put under. No reimbursement i was there 2 weeks and they kept saying they were looking for my keys and mysteriously for my lv bag and boots after two days of beghing. The nurses and doctors formed like vultron and insisted that i sign a waiver and spend a curtosy night but then Id have to find my own ride. I told them it was in emergency parking lot and my friends were waiting to drive it home. They never came back to my room when i denied to sign waiver. My family and I kept asking for my things. I had a lv purse and bag entrusted with doctor she brought that back with No keys after begging for 2 days. I Was not wheeled out the hospital until they saw my white friend helping me limp to the door and people staring . It cost upwards $250 for me to call a locksmith to break into my home and another $300 after fees ect. For 2 house keys. Total price paid while out of work due to surgery $550. They apologized and asked me to sign something saying they we not responsible. Still have not been compensated for or had my keys replace. Go somewhere else if you can this was the worst expirience I had at a hospital. Go somewhere where they will care for you not this henry ford

I had a very poor experience with Dr. Katato and Dr. Marr in the emergency room after requesting emergency help. I was told to stop taking a medication that was helpful to me and to start taking therapy more seriously (which I do-- I still can't believe she made the assumption that I don't) and a medication that was not appropriate for me to be taking was increased, which caused more serious problems to occur and further health complications to arise. I was treated very poorly, I wasn't taken seriously and I was spoken to like I was not a human being. I am still picking up the pieces from my visit from months ago. Dr. Katato seemed annoyed to be speaking with me and said some overtly offensive things about my complaint and my health; I believe she was assuming I wasn't intelligent enough to understand what she was saying. I will continue care with other Henry Ford Professionals, just not here. The best part about my visit was the woman who they had sitting in the room keeping patients company. She was more helpful than any of the professionals I encountered. I wish I could remember her name.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! My grandma was brought in after a fall and the doctors failed to notice that her foot was BROKEN!!!! 3 months later, it never healed and went to another hospital that properly diagnosed her. Also didn’t even have a room, was placed in the hallway. Horrible experience. Never going back!!!

Don't go here if you're pregnant. Just don't. I've had terrible experiences here since Day 1. On my first prenatal visit I told the nurse I wanted a particular test done, which was time sensitive and requires and ultrasound. She nodded and then ordered a dating ultrasound (even though I knew how far along I was and told her this). At my next visit, I reiterated that I wanted a test done to the midwife who told me that it's a little late but she'll try to order it. I then got sent down to genetics to make an appt for the test. The test is supposed to be done by 14 weeks. They scheduled me for 13 weeks 6 days. I said that this was cutting it close could they please work with me and squeeze me in sooner, could they put me on a cancellation list? No and no. Completely unhelpful. The day of the test, what do you know, the baby is measuring a few days bigger and the test is useless. I get charged by the insurance for every single test and it is getting expensive. I told the midwive this on my following visit and expressed how disappointed I was by the treatment I received at HF so far. She was defensive and basically said she's sorry but that's just the way things are. Later on a nurse came to talk to me and said that it probably was their fault and she would talk to billing about my not having to pay the coinsurance and she would call me. That was two weeks ago. Charges are still on my account. Never heard back from the nurse. In the meantime, I had to go the ER because I took a tumble down some stairs. Once again, completely awful experience. The ER room I was kept in for nearly 4 hours was falling apart and I almost fell several times due to the faulty "step" to get on and off the table (pics attached). I will never ever go back here. They have made my pregnancy miserable in so many ways. Stay far away.

Hi Friends, Do not never go to emergency care they don't know the meaning of an emergency. This is my recent experience. My neighbor kid tongue was cut then we rushed Henry Ford emergency they don't even bother about his distress. we informed them that he needs to be tongue stitched before his part of tongue cell dies . they said they will look shortly and made lot of drama. first initial 2 hours they are not let us go other hospital.totally they wasted 3 hours after kid parents frustration, i took them to Beaumont and doctor arrived on time stitched his tongue within 30 mints. My worry is if doctors are busy or room is full they should inform immediately, so patient will look for other emergency center. simply they wasted time without informing doctor is busy or er rooms are full. i thought they made all these drama because of money from patient.

The triage nurse was one of the rudest nurses I've ever met. I came in with covid symptoms and told her a loved on was positive, and she gave me an attitude asking how I knew he was positive. When I told her the health department told him, she told me there was no way because they don't call to tell you you're positive. I left crying because she treated me like dirt.

At 33 and in perfect health, I was diagnosed with a musculoskeletal cancer. I came to Henry Ford WB for 99% of my diagnostics and treatment. The staff in every department have been professional, friendly, and made the treatment easy. This hospital is clean and comfortable to be in. I'd highly recommend the cancer institute to anyone facing this disease and isn't sure where to turn (I didn't either).

For specialist and testing we think they are excellent. The floor and testing staff are excellent. The Emergency Dept is a disaster. Chaotic, crowded, confusing, staff rarely seen, appears understaffed. Took 5.5 hours to get to a bed in E.R to start being treated.

I'm so out done and truly disappointed with the lack of care, empathy, cleanliness and professionalism this hospital possess. My sister was taken to the ER and she is handicapped so we have to be her spokesperson . When I tell you how angry I was with the ER nurse because of the way he was handling her while she was screaming to the point I had to call another nurse to stop him. Which he agreed he was too aggressive with poking her several times to get an IV. Then the room they finally put us in had dried blood on it. Had my mother not wiped it down with Lysol wipes we would have been sleeping on a chair of someone's blood. To the very short answer doctor who sounds like a computer just giving a response. Where is the compassionate people in this field?. I could go on, but I'm too exhausted because I've been battling with them all night. Please go somewhere else. This hospital may look nice I from the outside, but the inside (the community) is far from it. I will be writing another letter to higher staff/mgmt. Poorly maintained.

The best L&D in the area. The crew was super friendly and professional. Delivered my 2 babies here and I could say that we've had a very positive experience. Thank you doctor Altairi, doctor Shukr and the nurses in L&D for working so diligently and tirelessly to deliver my two babies. I'm forever grateful ????

A lovely hospital with friendly staff. Doctors, Nurses, CNAs and support staff are so kind and helpful.

The emergency room is very nasty the staff is nasty and rude this use to be a good hospital unsupervised they know the patient advocates are not responding or even care !! I walked in blood pressure was 189/139 they sat me in the waiting room for 3 hours !!

This is the second time I review Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit, MI, or the Henry Ford Health System in general describing it, agin, that is is worse than hospitals in the Third World countries. My 17-year-old son has been sick for two weeks now. When he first started throwing up we tried to make an appointment with his doctor, but Henry Ford refused and told us to take him to emergency. When we got the ER in Dearborn, they decided after four hours to send him by ambulance to Children's Hospital. At Children's it was worse. He waited with his mother about 10 hours and at midnight was send back home without knowing what was wrong with him. No diagnosis and no medication whatsoever. We tried again to follow up with his Henry Ford primary Doctor when his condition worsened, but we were declined and directed again to their no-use ER. Finally, we took him to a local Urgent Care clinic and he was diagnosed with ear infection and bronchitis. He came home with medication which helped him a little and finally made him recover after 8 days in pain and agony. Henry Ford had no clue to what was wrong with him and no diagnosis and did not even care about his health. After that we were still concerned about his health, so we scheduled an appointment for him with ENT doctor at Henry Ford Hospital downtown. The appointment was confirmed by a scheduler at Henry For at 1:00 P.M. In fact, it was twice confirmed. When we got there, they said his appointment was 2:30 P.M. instead of 1:00 P.M., without any explanation to the confirmations we got. Anyways, we had to get ready before noon to go to downtown, only to make us wait another 5-6 hours. On top of that and to make matters worse, they refused to have ENT Doctor see him. Instead, they had scheduled the appointment with a nurse practitioner. With all due respect to all nurses, we had so many questions and concerns obviously and we wanted to ask the Specialist Doctor all kinds of questions about my son, but apprently Henry Ford Hospital did not care enough to have a specialist examine him after 10 days of illness. Now, this is infuriating and very frustrating. If you do not have the proper care or you don't give a damn about a patient, say so. Then, we can never set a foot in Henry Ford system's clinic or hospital again. We do have our health Insurance and we do not need this aggravation and insouciant attitude and horrible service. Our children are our lives and for a Hospital to treat us like that is inexcusable and unfair. I call upon all parents to ponder this and call Henry Ford for what it is and spread the word of shoddy medical care and terrible service.

Wonderful hospital. Great doctors and support staff. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Love Henry's.

Unfortunately I have been to my fair share of hospitals in different states. And I was really impressed with the staff here at Henry Ford Hospital. Staff are polite and seem to genuinely care. Intake wasn't to bad. The emergency rooms seems clean and decent. My only complaint is how long it took to get results and be discharged. Walked in at 3pm left at almost 1am. That's a heck of a long time. They should offer food to guests especially people with little ones. A snack is a great way to keep a child happy a d quite.

Took my 15 months daughter to the emergency, due to her very high fever. After they confirmed it was high and serious . We had to wait in the waiting room for at least 2:30 hours then they took us in, to wait for the doctor in the hallway, we sat waiting for at lease another hour on a bed located in the hallway, then the doctor came and check her On the bed In the Hallway. We lived in deferent Counties and by far this is the worst hospital treatment, me and my wife ever had. Oh also, my daughter was crying most of the 3:30 hours. That the last time we go to this emergency room.

Grace Willer

Disappointed that I drove up here to see my husband who was here for an ablation and kept overnight. Day one was great.. They told me he could have a visitor. I came back today and they refused to let me up to his room. Poor communication. They should have told me ahead of time that I was not allowed back before I made the hour trip.

I had to be taken to the er in the middle of the night days after moving to Michigan. I have a stent in my left ureter that had become extremely infected. Not only was I given top notch care but top notch surgical staff as well. This could have been a very difficult issue since I had not had time to establish any Dr care here yet at the time. In the morning I go back for routine replacement with the amazing Dr Rivers from my first visit. Even after moving further away this is our choice for my care.

Erin Nicole Allred

They didn't tell me that I had other medical issues. They like to keep information from you such as having gall stones and not let you find out until you go to a follow up appointment. And in Pod F2 you have to ring the nurses button 6 times in order to see a nurse in your room.

I was treated for prostate cancer last year at Henry Ford. I was treated by everyone like I was maybe a US senator. I am a guy who asks lots of questions, and everyone was happy to answer me, sometimes at some length. (I have had some experiences where this wasn't the case.) I am totally convinced that I received care equal to the best in the world. Also, I experienced very little bureaucratic problems, a pleasant surprise. Everyone had it together from my first call there. Anyway, that was my experience with Henry Ford. By the way, my PSA is undetectable now,may it continue!

Dirty. Smells like feces. I watched a nurse barely clean a room and when I said something I was out of the blue discharged from the PA, Brian Trojniak very rudely claiming he didn’t like the way I talked to his staff. This is not a meet and greet. I’m in the ER, sick sitting in a hallway for 4 hours. Being that I was right next to the nurse station I heard everything about all the patients. Where’s the privacy for patients? I can tell you what was going on with all the patients next to me. That shouldn’t be allowed. When I asked a question I was yelled at and when I raised my voice back they called security. Mind you, I was laying down, and was not threatening in any way. If I could give less than 1 star I would. This is the worst hospital. The staff is horrible. The Dr.s are horrible. When sick people are in the ER staff should take that into consideration. BRIAN TROJNIACK, The PA is extremely inappropriate. I will be contacting my lawyers. He shouldn’t be practicing medicine.

My beautiful granddaughter was born at this hospital on 10-7-10. What a wonderful experience it turned out to be for my daughter. It was her first baby, and she was very nervous and [overly!] particular like many 1st-time moms. All the staff treated her graciously and respectfully even to the point of not having the interns viewing certain procedures because she was stressed out. She had wanted to deliver completely naturally but ended up having a spinal. She was given wonderful care by all staff: nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists, cleaning people, you name it!! My daughter chooses to be different; she has a mohawk -usually dyed a bright color- so she always expects the worst reactions from people, but she got the best here at Henry Ford! Thank you, & God bless!!! Oh, & Ivy Elizabeth is doing great @ 2 years old!! :)

Henry Johnson

My wife had her surgery performed by Dr Vivan Wu and she was professional and gracious. Thank you Dr. Wu.

I fell sick in Detroit and had to go to the ER so I went to Henry Ford Hospital downtown. Let’s just say this place was horrible!! From the moment I walked in. They searched my purse and I had to walk through a metal detector!! I was extremely shocked by this. The staff was rude including their hospital police. Needless to say I walked in and and out in 3 minutes. I hate poor service!! If I could give zero stars I would!!!

Maggie Madness

Very poor quality care at this hospital system. Zero customer service skills. Employees can not manage basic skills they are required to have. Its always excuse after excuse and constatnt technical difficulties when calling to make an apt. This place does know know how to take care of its patients. I do not recommend HF Health systems in general, always a waste of time.

A+ BEST MEDICAL CARE EVER! LOOK NO FURTHER!! WE ARE PHYSICIANS BUT ONLY PATIENTS at HFH.CLEAN,WELCOMING from nice valets, greeters,WONDERFUL THERAPY DOGS????????????‍????????& attentive staff every level. It's the only hospital of dozens was a patient in that provided each nutritious food,Macomb HFH shopped foods i wasn't allergic to & vegan gluten free or food you like. West Bloomfield HENRY FORD HOSPITAL has the healthiest delicious inexpensive cafeteria foods,Detroit HFH had a vegan cart small caterer. Hospitals and doctors should feed you healthy delicious options but sadly known for the opposite exception in 7 states is only HENRY FORD HOSPITALS CARE!! Extremely accommodating, helpful, pleasant despite some nasty anti-masker intimidating them. PCP(primary care, family physician all ages, with DR RACHEL FRIEDMAN, DR PENSLER; STAFF in Commerce Township are the best! When we relocated back to MI from NH i refused to live in Macomb County or rural. I wanted to live near the West Bloomfield HFH and Detroit HFH because they PROVID THE BST MEDICAL CARE! APP MY CHART IS SUPERIOR, used at Dartmouth Hitchcock, Massachusetts General so we were used to it.. USE MY CHART,easy to contact doctors, appointments, refillmeds, questions you hsve, have, results, reports from the doctor you see. Also one of the best radiologist I've had in at least 8 states Radiologist Dr Daniel NOUJAIN!!! Also available was non western alternative therapies inconjunction with western treatments which i loved. I've been diagnosed with severe rare disorders missed by numerous hospitals in MI, Cleveland Clinic, numerous specialists in NH, Maine VT great care at Mayo Clinic. When living rural ER medical emergencies are dire,1st couple hours are mo important. E lived Rural thumb of MI & gorgeous rural NH but getting the best health care is the most important decision. Dartmouth Hitchcock ha excellent allergist,CRPS specialist, endocrinologist but that is it.. Saved my life twice. We returned to MI and relocated near Henry Ford HOSPITAL W BLOOMFIELD. Expert care from arrival to all levels. I had excellent care at Detroit and Macomb Henry Ford. Our primary care Dr Friedman is highly recommended, brilliant, compassionate, superb bedside manner. The MY CHART APP,every one from operator to the appointment staff are the best. Dr Atiemo in urologist is the best urologist. I've been to dozens of hospitals in MI, Mayo Clinic in MN,Cleveland Clinic, Dartmouth Hitchcock in NH is 6yrs but Henry Ford Healthcare is the best! I'm a board certified family physician disabled and most doctors give up when your symptoms are not textbook. I have extremely rare diagnosis and thank you HFH!!! Dr Toula Milios Guilfoyle

We had an amazing experience at this facility - our family was superbly taken care of by the hard working staff. Dr Rodgers and Dr Malik are unmatched! Would highly recommend Henry Ford West Bloomfield.

Melissa Crosby

Had an amazing experience delivering our baby girl here—and during the height of the pandemic! Everyone from the nurses and doctors to the techs and cleaning staff to the kitchen were fabulous. It was very anxiety provoking delivering during such chaotic and stressful times, but truly I felt so safe at Henry Ford West Bloomfield. Thank you!

Liz Favors

Thank you to Dr Bhandarkar and the team at Henry Ford West Bloomfield including Linda and RN Petri in pre op and RN Jennifer in post op for taking such great care of our daughter yesterday during her gall bladder removal. No one wants to have surgery but they made it a great experience despite that. We felt our daughter was in good hands and well cared for and we were kept well informed about the process before, during, and after surgery.

Yesterday, around noon my daughter fell off her bicycle and was lacerated on her left leg. By 12:25 we arrived at the ER of the main Henry Ford hospital @henryfordhealthsystem ... we were taken in the back immediately only because I was holding her and they had no wheelchairs available. She was placed on a stretcher and this was the first and ONLY time someone asked to see the injury. We waited here about 15 minutes. From there to a hallway where we were registered. Shortly after that we were moved to some corner that was barely a room. This is where we waited and waited for someone, anyone to come see her, try to make her comfortable, ANYTHING. We waited for close to 2 hours for absolutely no action. I understand that the cases are prioritized, but how do you prioritize when no one has assessed the patient. We made the decision to leave and take her to Beaumont Hospital’s ER @beaumonthealth where she received AMAZING care. She was bandaged when we arrived for her wait (as we were still holding the cut with a bloody washcloth). Waited maybe 30 minutes before we saw a doctor and then she had a room within 15 of that. She had xrays to check for bone injuries and was stitched up shortly after. Her treatment team were friendly and so prompt with her. She had an amazing experience although she was terrified and I want to thank @beaumonthealth for that. She left with a popsicle, a smile and absolutely confident that she would be alright. We asked her if she could tell the difference between the first hospital and the second and she said yes the people and service are so much better here. As for Henry Ford @henryfordhealthsystem I have a permanent bad taste in my mouth for you! We trusted you with my husband’s care last year for meningitis and it was the most horrible and frustrating experience. It was completely wreckless care on so many levels. Never again. I couldn’t care less that you’re the closest hospital to me, I or whoever will suffer a longer car ride before we trust your system for care.

It's been a really really positive journey with Henry Ford west Bloomfield. It started back in 2017 followed my disc replacement surgery in may of 2018. I love the caring and understanding staff. I had many fears about them not understanding. I got hurt on my job (Ford motor company) once you get hurt you really see your worth to them. I didnt have this problem at HFWB, it would be times when I wouldn't say how I was feeling due to this fears. DR.Chang and DR.Stewart erased those fears with understanding. They really listened to my concerns and the pain I constantly went through. I also want to give a special thanks to the radiology staff and super ultra thanks to the neurology department. A special thanks to Ms.Lauren who's saved me on more than one occasion with proper paper work to fords disability department. In closing thank you Henry ford west Bloomfield.

Elizabeth Blair

Such incredible L&D staff. The doctors, midwives and nurses were all amazing and took wonderful care of my newborn and me. I saw the midwives here for my prenatal care, and their excellent care continued and was seamless when I went into labor. I needed some extra attention right after delivery and the midwife had the doctor in my room ASAP. I felt so cared for by the whole staff. Thank you for what you do!

Alec Higgins

Had a good experience there, until I received the bill. The doctors recommended me for several tests but no one even attempted to tell me the cost implications. Many of the tests, I believe, were unnecessary. They did not tell me anything new, only confirmed what was already diagnosed. Then they hit you with a $5,000 bill. The itemized receipt they charged $150 for a surgical tray??? I'll never go see a doctor again unless it's an absolute emergency. I feel so taken advantage of when all I wanted was help. Merry Christmas :(

fizzycloth415

Worst experience ever. My husband arrived by ambulance and was admitted to ICU after being intubated in E.R. due to a bad combination of medications. He has metal rods holding his spine in place and while intubated he was bent and folded into a scan. He couldn't speak because of the tube and obviously staff didn't read any of his record which was available to them. Everything went downhill from there. If you go to the hospital because you want to live, you may want to reconsider your choice of hospital when possible.

I just had back surgery and a 3 day stay at the hospital. This was my first time ever in a general hospital and I have to say that it was actually enjoyable. The nurses and staff were wonderful. This was a new experience for me and it was fun. The success of my surgery is still unknown however. Name is a screen name. Real name is Carl C.

Lauren Lueder

The nurse kept saying "I'll get you another carton of milk honey" but she never did. There was a tv and lots of bags of liquids that they put into you, but they also steal your blood (sometimes also your pee). There is a dog mural as well which comforts you as you walk past it. Lots of different breeds for people who prefer different breeds of dogs. No chapstick though. And if you ask for another carton of milk, it can take up to 3 days. In all, a decent experience for only 17,000 dollars. They had animal planet

Getting ready to leave now and I’ve been here numerous of times. I like this hospital in general but today I met some GREAT people! Although my wait today was super long, I do understand that their maternity section rooms were full so it’s understandable. The STAFF MEMEBER KIM who did my ultrasound is literally one of the most genuinely sweetest people I have ever met! She made me feel comfortable while performing an uncomfortable task, was professional but still personable, and helped make my experience the best ever today. There were also a few other staff memebers that were awesome as well! Thanks to you all.

David Freeman

During my stay, I had the best nurses and doctors, and most other staff are happy or atleast well behaved. A few rude people but they were few and far between. I'm literally taking away 3 stars for the food. I started on clear diet after recovering a couple days, always bland and luke warm, but could be saved with broth seasoning and being thrown into a microwave, because who wants hot food right?? The rest of the food has been worse each day. Do you guys need new cooking equipment? There is something majorly wrong with nutrition, probably with management down. I can't even get a toasted english muffin.

Dee Perez

By far the best hospital I’ve ever been in. So happy with the quality of care I’ve received!

January 8, 2021: My father was taken to HF West Bloomfield ER this evening. I have been calling ER since 9:00PM trying to find out his condition, whether or not he is to be admitted, etc. It is now 11:25 PM and no contact. The front desk just transfers me "to the nurses" and then the phone rings forever. I had someone hand carry a note to the ER nursing area and begged for a call back. Nothing. Yes, I do understand there is pressure on the staff during this horrible COVID time but non-response to a family member is inexcusable and not acceptable. I may have to make the drive up to the hospital and DEMAND COMMUNICATION.

Ed Schulte

I was in excruciating pain and was not taken seriously in the ER! I had a major ankle reconstruction at that hospital less than 24 hours earlier. Pain started as soon as the nerve block faded. The ER doc never came to see me in nearly 4 hours! The PA didn't seem to believe I was truly in pain!!! Once I was admitted everything was fantastic and they quickly resolved my pain!! Great hospital but not ER!

Up to one latest experience , I would have rated Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield 5 stars.I had been there many times in the ER and had spine surgery and would only take my family and myself to Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield. Until something terrible traumatic happened. This is really hard to talk about but I think I finally need to. I went to the hospital having severe anxiety. I think I was having a nervous breakdown. I was extremely depressed. After arriving I was treated coldly. I never saw a doctor. They just decide to discharge me. I was on a 3 way call with my Mom and Daughter when the discharging nurse had a very horrible mean attitude and I asked her why she should be mean for no reason especially to someone feeling so much depression. I asked her why she was acting this way, if she enjoyed upsetting someone already going through emotional trauma. She replied that "Yes it does make me feel better to upset you" I was in complete shock at this point. I told my Mom and Daughter to hold on I was going to complain about her saying that to a patient. I did not want her to do this to anyone else. To my utter horror, the nurse went and told someone I threw the telephone I was on at her, which was a complete and awful lie. Of course she had no marks on her which she would have if I had done what she said. Something I would NEVER do in my life, How could a Nurse, Doctor, or anyone in the medical field lie and act like this. Accusing someone of such an awful thing so there were treated even worse, when they are already in a fragile emotional state. Then a social worker came in yelling at me. I said I wanted the police called. She told me they already had called the police and I was lucky she did not want to press charges. The phone was then ripped away from me. I was told by another rude nurse I lost my phone privileges. They wheeled my bed away into a small room that was all silver inside for at least and hour.I felt Claustrophobic and felt like I was in a horror movie. I could not believe I could be accused of such a lie and be treated that way it made my emotional state worse. I was finally let go and wheeled out to my medical transportation home by a security guard who was nice to me. The next day, I called the West Bloomfield police department to talk to them about what happened last night and if there were called because I needed to tell my side. Well the Social worker from the Hospital lied they never called the police. No one would give me the nurse's name. She was protected for lying and victimizing me. I am still VERY traumatized from this event. I just was going to let it go. But I feel its important to share because if this had happened to my loved one I would be furious and would warn others. Thank god I was not feeling suicidal or this event may have pushed me over the edge with makes me wonder if that is what that nurse wanted. If your loved goes to this hospital make sure they do not go alone so your family is protected from this Nurse who clearly should not be a Nurse at all. I still have nightmares about this. UPDATE: I was told in a response from the hospital they were heartbroken and wanted me to leave my contact info at the link they supplied and a patient advocate. Well NOBODY called me. They also said they were heartbroken to hear about my experience. That made me feel like they care but I see that in several replies they say the same thing. So it must be there go to auto response and it has upset me even more.

Our stay at the hospital wasn’t the best for the delivery of my first baby but doctor Alfaid delivered my baby and she did amazing. As well as nurse Peggy who held me up during my epidural as If it wasn’t the first time she ever met me a few hours prior. nurse mellissa was amazing!!! and treated us so well. However I was in the hospital a total of 5 days due to high blood pressure and they just kept saying we are going to monitor it! I ended up leaving against medical advice!! I felt like they were trying to keep me there so the nurses could get more practice!! The staff here needs to communicate better I had nurses coming in trying to do things the previous nurse had already done and had already discussed with them. I had a nurse who didn’t take my blood sugar all day even though I had diabetes with the pregnancy and the next nurse had to tell her even though there was no order for it she should have still been checking it. My baby had already had her 24 hour test and the next nurse came in saying she was gonna do it for us but it had already been done! I also think they weren’t to happy that I left they gave me no pads no bottles to clean myself because of the stitches no tips or anything to care for myself I would not return to the hospital for my next baby but I would love to have the same doctor delivering and nurses Peggy and mellissa!!!thankyou

Worst hospital ever, had me in there for 5+ hours and said liver and kindeys arnt working properly, doctor chuckled and they talk horribly about the patents

I wanted to commend the staff at Henry Ford Hospital. It was early in the morning and everyone was very helpful, professional and knowledgeable. I was kept in the loop with the condition of my love one at all times. In such a trying situation my experience was pleasant.

At first this seemed like a nice hospital. My family and I have been HF paitients for 25 years my husband since the 1950s. Well apparently I was denied to make an appointment to get my knee drained and shots in it untill I spoke to a financial planner. I owe 2400 dollars my husband owes 800 dollars. I'm disabled. Now I'm getting harassing emails threatening me with legal threats and they are going to report us to the creditors because we are late paying the bill. We are also getting phone calls. We never had this problem at Fairlane or Detroit. I'm going back to Beaumont Royal Oak Henry Ford Westbloomfield you are already taking $75. A month directly out of my husband's account! Stop sending texts and emails to me please!!!

Rafael Garcia

Very good doctors and most staff. Service are very slow but I give them a pass because allot of people are sick. Once discharge however it seemed rushed and the lack of careness and compansion didnt seem to be present at all, I felt rushed and treated poorly.

Brian Larry

The worst experience of my life. The labor and delivery nurses are lazy. This hospital is extremely negligent. I'm beyond traumatized. I had to beg and plead for everything. There were never enough supplies in the room. The nursing staff was really horrible. One of the nurses told me a crazy story about a mother who used the wrong kind of baby blanket and killed her week old newborn. Very inappropriate. I did not receive a single pain medication on time. Not even Motrin at the scheduled time. I didn't want to slip and fall in the shower and asked the nurse if she would stay in the room while I showered. She said NO. That they would not able to discharge me because she would be helping me. How is asking someone to stand in the room in case of emergency help? I would rather cut off my foot than ever go to this hospital again. I'll be switching doctors just so I don't have to go to this dump of a hospital. The worst part is reading all these terrible google reviews and the hospital administration replying and pretending to care. Ladies don't deliver here. Change doctors go to another hospital if you want to be treated like a human being. I'm going to be in psychotherapy for a long time after this god awful experience.

I may not have been in the worst pain, but I literally waited 2 full basketball games in a lobby with 4 people. They were not at max capacity, and was told several times as to how soon I would be getting a room. Witnessed fleets of nursing staff enter, not exit, the hospital. I Came here as a result of stomach issues, and hearing all of the trashy-degenerate patients surrounding the hospital scream and swear at doctors, made me think twice before trusting my body to such a loosely handled patient care system. Also, witnessed a grown a** man ask just about everybody for food, and bug doctors passing through the waiting room before he was even seen. If you’re looking for quality medical assistance in the city of Detroit, keep driving! Get the hell out of downtown and head for the burbs, but forget Beaumont, because you’ll wait just as long if not longer. Also, mop your floors and vacuum a little. Place smells like a rundown 90’s play palace. Gross.

Nursing staff in labor and delivery were spectacular. My son's circumcision was done wrong ( so is my nephew's) . Also my son was born with jaundice and we had to stay over for treatment but they still released us with very high jaundice levels. First time mother and they send us home with a jaundice level of 14 when 17 is the danger zone. They told me to monitor him overnight and take him to Henry Ford outpatient the next day. I am not a doctor or nurse How Will I Know what is the problem with my baby as far as what to look for with jaundice being at a dangerous level. Having jaundice can cause brain damage. Then who is the Fault the mother? For a first time mother you don't know what you know later. Also postpartum depression is very difficult to manage. Do not take your children it the hospital with high jaundice levels. My son's jaundice took three months to to away. They kept pricking my baby foot to monitor his jaundice levels weekly then biweekly when they could've just used photo therapy for a day or two (with some babies a week).

Despite my original negative review... HFH stepped in and gave me a wonderful delivery experience. I was able to deliver my daughter with my OB Dr. SAMAH ARSANIOUS, MD. She kept me calm for my emergency C-section and did an amazing job taking care of me during that scary time for me. Also, the nurse staff was amazing at working with me and baby around the clock. If you want to deliver your baby, this is a great hospital choice!

After being misdiagnosed for years, It was my understanding “Henry Ford is there for you, and will “help” you every step of the way.” It was expected the doctors would spend time with me and understand me, the doctors did this, they were amazing!! The “scheduling area” needs some work! 1. First appointment (with neurosurgeon), appointment changed, I showed up, and it seemed fine, but rushed. They were very kind, but overbooked, I felt bad for the staff. 2. Second appointment (with pain clinic) was changed to a week earlier (got phone call of reminder), original appointment was for injections and evaluation. i receive a phone call later stating they needed evaluation then I would come back for injections. I live 3 hours away and the appointment was at 8:30 a.m., upon arrival at my hotel the afternoon before, I receive an appointment reminder (live person), telling me I am getting injections and need a driver., this also means I have to have a second person come down and since I am unable to drive the hotel needed booked a second night. I arrived at 8:30 a.m. the next day. To find out I was only receiving the evaluation. (Too late to cancel the $150/night room, already paid for food and gas for second driver as well... approximately $250 wasted.) **Side note it isn’t like there isn’t a pandemic and people are not working). Moving on to being LIED TO BY HEIDI RITCHIE, yes ma’am.... I firmly believe in a postive, HONEST provider/client relationship. If I met Ms. Ritchie, it may have been at my appointment, I do not remember, there were many providers surrounding my care. I was told at my appointment, a pre-authorization was being sent to my insurance for injections, I had an appointment made for receive said injections (I truly hope this woman realizes the stress created upon me, I finally had hope that “Hey maybe I won’t randomly fall, or my leg might not be numb”). Fast forward to 4 “business” days before my appointment Heidi calls and tells me my insurance “denied my claim because I have to have p.t.”, I was confused, so I said I will call my insurance, I did, my insurance informed me there was NO PRIOR AUTHORIZATION SENT?!?!?! So I call Heidi, “Kind of hard to get the authorization without it being sent to the insurance company.” To which she responded “It would have been denied anyway.” My thoughts l/feelings are flushed from my body at this point. So you waities until 4 days before my appointment, obviously it was known I needed this authorization for you to toss my file aside like I am nothing more than a random number. Then call me 4 days before my appointment to lie to me about something as remedial as insurance?!?!?! Her attitude was terrible and she toon no responsibility in the lack of care for me. I now do not trust her, sorry but if you can lie about “insurance authorizations”, idk what else I will be lied to about on her behalf. She is also apparently the nurse who is the head of the “Main Campus Pain Clinic.” That is unfortunate.... Vince did call, he was kind, but had no interest in my lack of trust in his staff. So I am now 2+ months out from my first appointment I was told I had “p.t. Orders” in “mychart” still havent received those, I called today and am having neurosurgery “snail mail” them to me, because I was treated like a number, lied to, and greatly neglected by the nursing staff/appointment staff. I had anticipated a much greater level of care, and as a result I simply feel abandoned, for lack of a better word. i have attempted to contact various other departments that may handle complaints, but then again it took 20 minutes just to be transferred to the right department today.. best words to describe my Experience is “A shitshow full of clusterfucks”

Abe The Realtor

5 hour wait for emergency room. I asked the nurses and they didn't tell me how long the wait time is. This is unacceptable. They should have a clock and tell people how long the estimated wait time is. So, they can go somewhere else with a shorter wait time. Smh. Never coming here again.

Poseidon The God of Water

The communication is seriously lacking no professionalism.... Can't get clear information from medical staff this hospital has really Taken a nose dive

Speranta Maior

Culture was taken for lab analysis, doctor Amid Vahia promised follow up by certain day, there was no follow up. A certain treatment was prescribed and my body did not respond well. I send the doctor a note requesting advise to my issue. The doctor mentioned during visit that he “responds to messages at the speed of light”; there was never a response. Waste of my money and of my time! Not to mention that the hospital infectious disease unit was extremely dirty, in the consultation room there were dust and hairballs on the floor! I would post some pictures to prove my point but I don’t think that feature is available. I am glad I didn’t contract another illness while visiting! Overall, bad experience both from a medical perspective as well as the lack of housekeeping and poor hygiene! Would not recommend.

The slowest hospital I have ever been to. My brother had a seizure and fell and has been sitting here for the longest and has not been seen. Very unorganized no concerns for the patients in pain. Beds sitting in the hallways. If I would have read the reviews before hand I would have never brought him here. I would rate a 0 but it doesn’t give me that option.

Jennifer Austin

First time at Henry Ford Hospital and came with my boyfriend because he said it was a great hospital, well so much for that! We arrived at about 10am and were the only ones in the waiting area. At first the staff was pleasant and quick service with them saying it was not busy due to the snow. Once he got a bed we were waiting 3 hours and still had no information told to us of what was going on all they did was give him a shot and sample his urine. So I finally asked what was going on? That he never got the urine result and she said oh it was negative, I asked negative for what? I mean I didn't realize that you had to ask these questions!? From my life experiences THEY come tell you what's going on?! On top of that the lady had a bad attitude while I was asking the questions like she didn't want to be bothered. Very horrible experience for my first time being here which is sad due to the fact that they have a good reputation. Now 4 hours later and STILL haven't been told, ANYTHING! If they were going to discharge him it would be nice to and least be told that.... SOMETHING SMDH!!!!

This hospital is the absolute worst. Maybe it was something in its glory days, but that certainly is over now. My family member was held in observation; I must say the nurses were amazing, but everything else was terrible. A Physicians Assistant (PA) was assigned to my family member who could care less about her actual care. She spoke more to me about insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses than a care plan. The patient is severely underweight and could not walk due to an unknown illness. They still wanted to release the patient after 24 hours of observation and no diagnosis, but they did find a large mass. However, we would need to follow up with a specialist on our own time because it's not their responsibility to request the proper specialist to look at the patient while in their care... We requested a script for a wheelchair because the patient could not walk. The PA refused to write the prescription because she felt the insurance company would reject the request because they didn't have a diagnosis. She did offer to arrange an ambulance, but again she let us know that the insurance would not cover the expense and we would have to pay out of pocket. We requested to speak with the doctor that never happened, and we asked to speak with the social worker, which never happened. This has been the worst experience I have had with a hospital.

The Emergency department is worse place to go for help. The front desk is rude and nasty. The absolute worse place I have ever been. Had to leave and go somewhere else. Would give no stars if given the choice.

I recently gave birth to my baby girl on November 13, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital- West Bloomfield. The treatment I received from the moment I stepped foot in the hospital with obvious signs of pain and discomfort of contractions, a man in charge of the wheelchairs was already walking towards me, ready to relieve me by sitting down... Upon arrival, my husband and I were greeted with a smile from the workers at the Information Counter and wished me luck on my delivery. The gentleman who brought me the wheelchair personally wheeled me down the hospital and up to Labor and Delivery on the 3rd floor, he was so sweet! I get checked in and a nurse comes to whisk me off to get checked to see if I was dilated, then straight to my labor and delivery room #8. Each and every nurse or doctor that my husband and I met were extremely sweet and genuinely compassionate towards me and all my labor pains, as I was in lots of pain! All of the nurses showed genuine concern for me as if I were the only patient in the hospital! They tried to comfort me throughout my delivery and were truly compassionate. I absolutely loved it and was so appreciative of them. I had a quick delivery with no pain meds and I really do owe it to them for helping me ease through it. I don't remember all of their names but a handful of them have stuck in my head because of their amazing treatment: Patricia (Patty), Leyla, Sarah, Debi, Olivia, Rachel. I can't remember the rest of their names but I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful treatment of the employees of Henry Ford Hospital- West Bloomfield!

Stay away from the Emergency Room; if you have good insurance, they will run a battery of unnecessary tests, leave you there for hours hanging. Of course they don’t give you any food throughout, “just in case” you need an emergency surgery.

Leslie A Petty

The visit to the emergency center was the worst I'm ever received. My husband was sent to this location from the Columbus Center for scans. After arriving and eventually getting called to the back, my husband services were provided in the hallway across from the public restroom!! No privacy whatsoever; his diagnosis and treatment were discussed in the hallway where others were present! Very surprising for a facility of this magnitude and reputation. Needless to say we won't be returning. I will also follow up with my insurance company.

Paul Ellinger

Most hospitals are difficult to get around in, but at Henry Ford everything is labeled in a way that's very easy to follow and understand. also, my experience with Dr Marnix Van Holesbeek was absolutely amazing!

Rachel S. Day

From the moment I entered the hospital to the time I left (6 hours later), I was treated with the utmost respect from everyone on staff. I knew I was in the right place at the right time when a wheelchair was brought for me promptly since I was experiencing dizziness and nausea and had difficulty walking. The staff member told another staff member at that time, "Would you please see that our guest gets to the ER safely." I knew then, I was in safe hands.

Alma Brown

I went to the emergency room here because I’m an employee here and I thought I would’ve been treated better but no I didn’t. The doctors and nurses acted as if I was non coherent because I have a disability. I had to clean up after myself because I had a bad case of thin blood. I had to assist myself to the bathroom. EVERY NURSE AND DOCTOR AND NURSE ASSISTANTS NEEDS TO TAKE A BEDSIDE MANNER COURSE!! I felt very uncomfortable and disrespected as a patient and employee. If they need a bedside manner instructor I can help with that.

This morning September 23rd, 2021 my mother in law was evaluated at the Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield. I had the pleasure to speak with her attending Dr. Grant Orthmeyer. He was very pleasant, informative, and very professional. He answered all my questions. Dr. Orthmeyer conducted a thorough evaluation of her medical condition. Finally my mother in law was discharged home with follow up visits. Let me congratulate you in having Dr. Orthmeyer on your ER Staff. He is indeed an excellent doctor. Said Hakki, M.D., Ph.D.

I thought there is a new law where hospitals have to be transparent and have prices of procedures posted on their website. I called to make an appointment with a Doctor at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield and I was given a price for the doctor’s appointment and a price for an ultra sound. Online I went and double checked prices. I am not using my insurance because I was going for a second opinion out of my insurance network. I received a bill with totally different prices and when I called the billing department they told me the prices that they post on their website are an estimate but that the hospital can charge whatever they want for the doctor’s appointment and for the procedure. I will have to check with a family member that is a lawyer to verify that this is legal.

Carol Donaldson

Everyone is so professional, caring and helpful. My husband is receiving excellent care.

I had to take my mom to the hospital and I drove to West Bloomfield for her emergency care. They took great care of her. The nurses and doctors was kind and listened to what we said. My mom fever was 104 and the ended up putting ice packs on her. It was something to see.

The appearance is just a sale pitch. I had a fair experience with this hospital. The location and the interior of the hospital resembles you are entering in a 5 star hotel . My daughter delivered in the hfwb hospital I was very excited to have my baby in this hospital. But my experience was not much as I expected. The labor n delivery room resembles an upscale hotel room. for the duration of 4 days stay in the hospital the house keeping just came and pick up the trash and not even care to mop the room. Finally I directed the attention to the hk department, people showing up 3- 4 times in a day and started cleaning everything aggressively. How can a new mom (1 day after delivery) can step inside a 3feet high Jacuzzi to take shower…!!!! Not LD rooms not even have a walk in shower for the new moms… ( I am not a diving expert to jump and take shower…) the nursing staff were good but my discharge nurse totally forget about me after I signed my dc papers. Not even come to check to see whether I buckle up my daughter in car seat is in right way or not. (What a situation …no bye or best of luck….). new moms never expect any baby stuffs from this hospital to go for the take care the baby on the way to home… over all my experience was not good.. If you plan to go there expect the least…

Adam Bordoley

WOW! VERY NICE PLACE AND REALLY GOOD NURSES AND DOCTORS! When my Grandpa fell, he was sent to this hospital (it was also across the street from his complex). He was put in Intensive care which was amazing! The nurses do their jobs with quality. Also, the food was very good!

Danielle Rocky

The worst wait times of any hospital ER I’ve ever been to been sitting here for 7 hours, and no end in sight. If you ever have an emergency, go somewhere else. The bathrooms were dirty too, parked us in a hallway and forgot about us. Just a very bad experience here.

Lorraine P

I was scheduled for a cardiac test today and I can't say enough good things about this hospital, their staff, their Covid protocols and more. They were on time, professional, confident, explained everything in detail before we started and then again as they were proceeding. They made me feel confident and exceptionally comfortable. They're the best and I can't thank them enough. ❤️

Hung Le

If there was a negative rating, my personal review gives this hospital the worst rating it can get. I think this hospital should never ever qualify as a birth center. Our care here was appalling. I felt from our experience that the nurses and caregivers do not care about human life. I trust them with my loveones and our outcome was the worst you can imagine. I regret ever setting foot inside this building....I strongly believe you should never trust this hospital and most worker here...from personal experience.

Morgan

Jennifer B (blonde) ER nurse was the best! So friendly and has such a great bed side manner! Highly recommend as she provided excellent care. Sharan (blackish hair) the tech in the ER was also great! Both of them made my care so much better!

Judy Webb

My husband was in hospital for colon surgery. 6th floor p if I remember correctly. He had excellent care. We loved his doctor and her team. The staff on that floor is amazing 0. Efficient, caring and friendly. If their was any negative, it was housekeeping. I had to change his sheets and get towels, and requested the floors to be cleaned. He was there 4 days. The nursing team are excellent. Thank you for taking such good care of him.

Madison Eldridge

My mom was transferred down here from another hospital were she was incoherent and didn't know anyone except for my father and son and pretty much dead. Now she knows everyone and is doing a lot better. Everyone here has treated us good and listened to us and keeps us updated. Very respectful, caring, and much more. I rather be at this hospital then the ones up in the area that I am from about 3hrs north west of here.

Michelle Valadez

I drove 11 hrs from out of state to have surgery at Henry Ford West Bloomfield end of August 2019 and I was very pleased with how I was cared for there. The person who checked me in, the pre-op nurse, the surgical staff, and my post op nurses were fantastic. I would definitely return there. I have not been treated that well at a hospital even in my own state. The photo is the view from my private surgical recovery room.

Dawn Mari Collom

7/23. I emailed their customer service, as requested. I've heard nothing back. I believe their response on here is simply lip service, for anyone who reads these reviews. As a person who requires frequent surgeries, I can say that I love the set up and cleanliness of the rooms and facilities. However, I will never return to this hospital after my last emergency room experience. I was carried into the hospital in distress and unable to stand, I had already fallen once. The emergency department tech didn't believe me and literally pushed me out of the wheelchair and onto the floor, then requiring two people to lift me into the bed, the doctor accused me of being "on something," and refused to treat my symptoms even after blood work showed nothing in my system, they violated my rights by refusing to let me see another physician, or to even call my primary care provider, after 5 hours the er doctor discharged me without treatment-I couldn't stand or walk still- the techs dead lifted me into a truck, and sent me home. Clearly I survived, but the whole experience was terrifying and humiliating. I contacted my insurance provider and they are refusing payment, for "alleged" treatments that were billed for. PATIENT BEWARE

Mel Ops

Wouldn't kennel dogs here. If you get moved to the first floor get to know the patient advocate asap because you're likely going to need an intermediary to get adequate care, hygiene, and nutrition. Even with life threatening conditions you're a non-factor here. If you're truly ill/badly injured I hope you do not get admitted here.

Ongelee m

One of thee worst hospitals on the planet! Very clean, but very unprofessional, no urgency about them, and just overall terrible. The only pleasant thing about my visit was the nurse! My bed was in the hallway. It took 5 hours just for a doctor to look at me for two seconds. Literally!

Canatrice A

Expect to be severely injured, and then doctors write notes about things they didn't do and be accused to causing injury yourself. This is now a common medical malpractice coverup. Went in for female surgery, and ended up with cut jaw down to bone, cut throat, lip and voicebox. Guessing they didn't get the memo, don't put breathingtube over empty surgical jawbone graft hat has no blood supply osteomyelitis ulva, throat, voice box and lip from student CRNA not knowing how to put tube down properly. Now I ended up with more problems than I went in for. I wrote no students on my consent form too. Now changed medical records this morning trying to make it seem, I already has this before? Sure I can cut my own voicebox ..omg go anyplace else!!

Nikki B

My birthing experience wasn't the best but to make matters worse after my VBAC I was sent to the other side of the maternity ward where it was very apparent that the trimmings the hospital advertises were just an allusion...at least for me. They me very aware that they lacked supplies and even put my baby's foot print on a piece of blank paper because the "other side" would not share there hospital birth certificate paper. I have EXCELLENT insurance, that I pay for, so I'm not quite sure why I would not get the same treatment as everyone else. Every time I think back to that day I get upset.

Great place; very welcoming. Clean! Great nurses (with the exception of a few); GREAT staff overall! The system of care or the coordination between departments while in the hospital, STINKS! I’ve my family member admitted here for a TPN and was in need of a Paracentesis since Friday morning; now it’s Sunday midnight. The doctor can’t find a solution with IR. The green team that suppose to help doing the procedure by the bedside is useless. The physician that was to conduct the procedure (Samantha) very unskilled; and incompetent. It’s now past midnight to Monday morning and my child with a stomach of 7 months pregnant woman can hardly breathe. This is inhumane, this is unacceptable!

Brittany Daniels

Came in after laboring unsuccessfully for 24 hours at a nearby birthing center. I was taken care of phenomenally by the midwives and nurses in the L&D unit. Brittany, Kim, and Andrea really made me feel at ease and cared for. I wish I had just come here from the start. Also, The women's and children's unit was awesome as well! I was taken care of by mostly Erica and David. Both very kind and and very informative. Thank you, Henry Ford, for taking such good care of me and my baby! ♥️

Raham

My father had a surgery at this hospital for his pituitary gland tumor. The doctor was great but the stuff and nurses were very rude to my father also they did not take care of him while he was staying in the hospital. If you have a patient staying in this hospital then you better be with the patient so take care of them otherwise the nurses will not give a damn.

Deborah Montgomery

If I could score the surgery department any less I would (-10). My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer and was supposed to be notified after the tumor board met and never received a call. She then called and left a message for the doctor to call her back and to ask what was going on and still no call from anyone in that department. No compassion at all for their patients. A horrible experience.

Stefanie Givens Wilson

One of the worst ER experiences that I have ever had. Was brought via ambulance, took 45+ minutes to receive pain and anti-nausea meds. Was told that I was administered meds that I never had... there was a used needle in my bed! When the staff changed shifts, the transition was not smooth at all... the new staff was more attentive. (Especially once my husband was in the room. ) And then the bill!! It was outrageous, even with my outstanding insurance. If I am ever in need of going to the ER, I would not return to HF-WB!

Iamglamorous J

I've had good care here in the past. My daughter was born here and I was treated for psoriasis here when dmc had no idea what it was. I got into the bariatric program here and it's been nothing but a headache. You can hardly reach anyone and also the psych department hasn't returned a phone call for over two weeks to me. I've contacted them by phone, my chart and nothing. Even when I began the program initially, it took them 6 months before the bariatric department reached out to me. Just really disappointed in how I've been treated thus far. Total lack of communication. I understand Covid has complicated things. However there needs to be more of accountability with the responsiveness and communication. I shouldn't have to chase you down to do your job. Unacceptable. The quality of service has went down here for sure.

Sra. H

We had great service here! These nurses and doctors obviously know their profession well. Even the extra staff at the reception desk, those who transport the patients and those who work at the stores were kind, knowledgeable and even humorous at times to lighten our mood. The inside of this hospital feels like an indoor mall and also a forest. The ICU room we spent time in looked out onto the wooded inside court. Very soothing. Thank you, HF, West Bloomfield!

dianna

The ER department has changed so much in about 5 years. My first time 5 years ago i was treated like a person and not just a number. Nurses were friendly and helpful, check in ladies were polite and welcoming. Dr's were professional and kind. NOw? You walk in and the check in staff act like you are a nuisance, you are pushed through quick with no time to let them know exactly how you feel or what happened. I'm not saying all nurses and staff are like this but a big majority are. And i thought nurses have to wear rubber gloves at all times when puttin in an IV or taking out an IV? ER drs are busy and they have a worse cases first which i get, but some get so busy where they walk in your room, and you have about 10 seconds to tell them what happened. Again not ALL drs do this, but the one's that do, really need compassionate training.

Came home with a newborn yesterday. I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. It all started with the multitude of classes they offer for first time parents - breastfeeding, infant cpr, how to care for an infant, birthing, etc. The labor and delivery suites (and they are suites) were amazing. You never leave the room and neither does the baby (as long as everything is ok). There's cable and Internet, a jetted tub in the bathroom, and plenty of furniture. The cafeteria and in-room dining were impressive and very reasonably priced, there's an awesome gift shop, starbucks, and snacks, they even have a farmer's market every Wednesday! Onto the most important part of the review... the NURSES and other staff were very attentive, caring, and adaptive. From various birthing positions to the tips and tricks to help through labor. Once the baby was born, they were attentive, but gave us plenty of space to enjoy the new bundle. Many of the nurses are lactation consultants and will help with all that. Our OB and Pediatrician are both Henry Ford doctors, so the Pediatrician actually saw him the night he was born, because she happened to be on staff. I read other reviews on here and most of them sounded very familiar to our experience. Highly recommended!

Amazing doctors, passionate nurses, fantastic food! Been to other HF locations and not half as wonderful. The doctors here are extremely educated in their fields. You’re seen in a timely matter. They make sure you know what’s going on every step of the way. They actually go above and beyond expectations. I even had a nurse tuck me in, at 31 yrs old, that really makes you feel welcome and appreciated. I wish I could add pictures to this review to show how amazing the food was, never thought eating healthy would taste that great. Thank you to everyone at HFWB!

ER staff ignores you. No rounds. No checking on patient. No updating the patient. No emptying a urinal. Nothing. After hours of being ignored, the nurse got vindictive and nasty for asking for info. Then full blown vindictive behavior by all the staff sticking together. A nurse glaring at you as if she wants to get violent with you or beat you up. Absolutely horrible. Patients rights violated. Family antagonized. Really? And the new.....it’s short staffing or Covid that causes the bad attitudes. Can’t tell you how many people used that as an excuse for this behavior today. Fall Risk with FR bracelet. In hall with limited mobility. A patient that looks very ill. Their reply to privacy and a urinal....he can walk to bathroom. In the hall. Umm, NO, he can’t! Staff is downright evil and enjoy being evil there. Read the negative reviews. They are fully aware of this already. Absolute no accountability for how horrible the staff in the ER treats people. Apologies don’t make this right. Fix it! JCAHO a needs to bust them for all their violations!

Mizz Schvitz

Whether time is a surplus or time is of shortage, depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on. Good luck!

I drove out of my way to come here because it had higher reviews than the others and wish I hadn't. I was moved from one waiting room to another- both were uncomfortable with TMZ blasting (at 12AM-1AM- no way to fall asleep in the chairs), only the first one had tissue available. After waiting for over an hour I decided to leave. Only 4 people had been called out of the waiting room of about 20. As I was leaving, a nurse stopped me to check on my place in line. She said 'I just got there' so she couldn't help move me up the line. I haven't been to an ER where waiting over an hour is considered just getting there... 2 instead of a 1 because at least the staff were friendly, but the trip was otherwise a total waste of time.

Waited 4 hours for my wife to be seen, when she was in excruciating pain. Shame on this Hospital and they need to look at retraining staff. Update it has been 7 hours and my wife is still crying in agonizing pain, still no doctor and nurses don’t care at all!

I went to Henry Ford labor and delivery to be induced (first baby) my caregivers were amazing. They made my birthing experience great. Most of the nurses are so nice and they actually care about their patients in this department.

Hi, yes, Ive been hospitalized at this horrible place, EVERYTIME i had to ask the nurses for my meds when it should of gotten it sooner, they allowed me to suffer from my rage attacks and refused to give me my meds when i needed it. Everytime I ask for food it takes FOREVER to come to me, I suffer from Hallucainations and voices and i feel like there is something biting me and the nurses dont care about me and what im going through. Terrible customer service! ????????????

Gustavo Hernandez

one of the worse E.R services you can get ... they have u waiting for hours ..cause there so into gossip ...lazy nurses

My husband has had dozens of admissions to Henry Ford Hospital over the years - I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of this system. We've had plenty of appalling experiences, but I've never written a review before. This time was different. On this particular admission (HFH West Bloomfield), due to continued use of a blown IV, my husband was subjected to 20 (twenty) hours of essentially untreated post op pain, following his below the knee amputation. We are talking major league pain here. Visitors were banned because of covid, and as I attempted advocating via speaker phone for my sobbing, gasping husband as he convulsed in pain, I received hostile words from Dr. Stephanie Muh who was rounding for his surgeon. Nurses at Henry Ford are usually the best and go above and beyond for my husband, but they were understaffed and overworked during this admission, which is not their fault. However they were aware of the IV gone bad because of the redness and swelling, and my husband reporting burning with each flush and administration of pain med but instead of changing it, they continued using it. When he returned to the floor following a repeat nerve block (which also failed) I didn't want to bother him in case he was sleeping - when I called the unit, I was told he was no longer crying when he returned to the floor and he was doing good. I was told he slept. When I spoke with my husband it was not even close to the truth, instead he spent the night sobbing and writhing in pain - alone. Why does the system not do what is necessary to adequately staff their units? His 20 hours of pain ended abruptly when a nurse willing to deal with it, acknowledged that his IV was blown, and a new one was placed, and the medications immediately resulted in a wave of relief that seemed like a miracle. 20 hours of trauma to his mind and body - needless suffering. If he was a war criminal, international law would protect him from such torture. #AllForYou

I live out of town and had to go to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Mi. I admit the wait in the Emergency Room was way long 11 hrs. They were extremely busy. While waiting they took care of each patient as needed untill a bed was available. Once you were given a bed in the back they were on it! The doctors and nurses were so friendly and thorough. They did every test they could to find out what was wrong with me. They made me feel very comfortable. Even though the wait was long I gave a 5 stars because of the care I received and how thorough the staff was. I want to thank the staff for taking good care of me. Adrienne Varela Las Vegas Nv.

On Wednesday, March 24th at approximately 7pm, Dr. Hassan Aboulnour informed my father that he would need to have a procedure to transfer plasma. He was told that the procedure would be performed by himself and NP Kinney. Dr. Aboulnour stated that a catheter would be placed in my father’s neck and the procedure would be completed bedside in a private or semi-private room. Dr. Aboulnour stated that the procedure would need to be completed quickly so it was important that my father sign the consent form immediately. Despite the lack of proper consultation, my father signed the form under the premise that it was an urgent procedure. 4 hours later my father was moved to the ICU, which he described as having no privacy, no access to a bathroom, and duct tape on the windows. This was not a private nor semi-private room. He was then told that a different doctor that he met for the first time would be conducting the procedure. This was not Dr. Aboulnour who we were told would conduct the procedure (we have the signed consent form which explicitly states this information). Finally, he was told that the catheter would now be placed in his groin instead of his neck. The location of the room, the doctor assigned to complete the procedure and the placement of the catheter all changed at the last minute without my father’s knowledge. He was again pressured into having the completely different procedure. He was also told that he might remain in the ICU with critically ill patients for a number of days. This seems like a very problematic decision based on the fact that while my father’s condition needed to be addressed urgently, he is not a patient who requires critical care. Essentially, he was being placed in a bed that could have been used for someone needing it from the emergency room. The lack of transparency was the most disturbing part of the experience. He was told entirely different information by clinicians who seemed like they wanted to have the paperwork signed simply so they could go home for the night. I am reaching out to the hospital’s administration regarding the accountability for this experience as I would never want this to happen to another patient in the future. The hospital needs to improve their communication, policies, and correspondence with patients and their families when making serious decisions about healthcare. I will continue to contact the hospital’s administration until an explanation can be provided on why this incident occurred.

Go to any other ER that you can find. This place is the absolute worst. Can not believe how awful...a lawsuit waiting to happen. They let the alarm to call Youfor help( big red button) go off for 9 mins before even responding. get way better care at Hurley or McLaren in Flint! My client has top notch insurance, as well. I'd hate to be stuck in this place with Medicaid. Saying a prayer for all these poor souls on my way out.

Once I’m check out of here I will never come back to this place I’m healthcare worker I work through the COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE FRONT LINES. The staff removed me from my room and place me again the Doctors and Nurses desk an a open hallway with no privacy. Transporters bumping my stretcher And move me out the way Back and forth. INSTEAD OF FINDING ME ROOM OH YALL NO NURSE CALL BUTTON And NO ONE HAS CHECKED ON ME SINCE they put me in the walkway

Henry Ford overall is an excellent health system. I just wish they still took my insurance... Excellent heart surgeons though.

Melissa D. in the ultrasound department who did my ultrasounds was awesome! She does great work and was super friendly and caring! So were the reception ladies! Very relieved with how fast and easy my visit went!

I had a bad experience here, the hospital looks nice inside and out but the care wasn't nice. Most nurses doctors seemed careless in providing care. I went here when I found out I was pregnant and they gave me prenatals with fish oil and fish in them after I repeatedly told them I'm allergic to fish, I didn't read the back of the bottle until I switched to Beaumont and a midwife over there recognized the brand and told me. Plus they have all my medical records that tells them I'm allergic to fish and I had been with Henry ford since a young girl (I'm now 22), meaning I've had all my vaccinations and shots through them. They told me it was a practice so I would constantly see different nurses or doctors and they didn't know which one would be there when it was time for me to deliver. I had a male doctor who gave me a papsmear, even though I explained that I had one already through my primary doctor just last year, but they claimed to have no record of it. The papsmear hurt, and the doctor was too rough. If I were you I'd choose another place of care. This is my first time being pregnant and they didn't let me know I had to have a check up every month, I had to call after almost 2 months to see when my next appointment was. Nobody was very informative. The only caring person I met was the phlebotomist in radiology. I switched doctors and I'm glad I did. No one should have to experience that type of care especially while trying to bring a life into the world.

I have been on B6 for hours and I have not even seen a physician yet I've seen a nurse that told me I was going to see The physician twice soon and it's been ours I have thrown up at least three times and I am in severe pain and apparently it's not important enough my name is TODD ANCELL not only would I not recommend this place anybody else I'm sorry I have to do my leukemia treatment here

I gave birth to my baby on November 2020, to say the least the nurses that took care of me after I was settled into my room sucked. I got really sweet nurses in the beginning helping me out but after the second day the nurses were just terrible. One nurse took my baby from her dad to weigh her while she was crying my boyfriend was in the middle of changing her diaper. She weighed her and just gave her back without saying a word instead of trying to sooth her or at least give us information. The rest of the nurses completely forgot about us I would press the button for help and no one would come. Many times I had to ask for a pump to pump my milk and no one came I had to go find my nurse in the hallway mind you I had gotten a c-section and it hurt to get up and walk. I went out to look for her twice. I would only see my nurses once and never again. Definitely won’t ever be coming here again I rather give birth on the side of the road

Patricia Harris

Do not go here if you have Medicaid or Medicare the quality of service is very poor and I will never recommend this hospital

Sarah Ali

I took my sister who was projectile vomiting and had bad abdominal pains, she was pale and shivering and waited in the ER for over 4 hours & watched as they took several other patients before her. They claimed they take patients back based on pain levels but she stated hers was a 10/10. how much higher could those patients levels be ? She has scoliosis and after the second hour was having back pain from sitting in a wheelchair for so long and asked if they could bring a bed or stretcher in the waiting room, they said no and never tried to offer any other solution. Not happy with their service AT ALL.

Andrea Laurain

The pre op nurses amazing, doctor amazing, post up nurse right on the ball, taking great care of my son. Why a 1 star? My son waiting in pre op for me over an hour and having to go to the 4th floor waiting room desk inquiring what's going on in order to be taken to him because they failed to notify me. Surgery went through, doctor talked to me said it will be a few minutes before I could see him in recovery. An hour and a half goes by and again I had to approach the front desk to find out what's going on for them to tell me he's ready. I take myself back there to learn he's been ready and the desk was called a couple times but they didn't bother to notify any of the 3 of us that were at the same seating area, which they wrote our table number down and patients name at the beginning prior to pre op and we had at least 1 of us at that table the entire time. I had that poor nurse call the driver instead of the desk to ensure no further mistakes made. There was no one to take him down in the wheel chair so i pushed him with 3 herniated discs in my neck and 2 herniated discs in my lower back after being there for 8 hours. My vehicle is not at the door. Why is it not at the door? Your traffic officer was busy poaching for a chance at a FBI job instead, having the other vehicles that decided they are entitled to park side by side with no one coming out for over 15 minutes to them blocking any way around them , not doing her job to keep traffic moving and clear. Here was an amazing team forgotten about because 3 customer reps for the 4th floor waiting room failed to perform job twice and your officer thought her resume was more important then her job. Never again at Detroit main. I will find a new neurosurgeon for my surgery in September that is at any other hospital except here.

Missed a call from this location today, So I called back to see why I was called since no voicemail was left and I am not a patient of theirs. I was asked if I had a patient name or room number, I did not since I was trying to find out why I was called to begin with. The person on the phone said they do not trace the calls back (?)I asked if they could look up my name since it would be a emergency contact if someone I knew was there. She and then hung up on me... So what am I suppose to do here? Start calling back and list off everyone I know by name to see IF they are at the hospital??? There is no way the hospital cannot look up emergency contacts and cross reference that with a current patient at the hospital. Plus they a log of where calls go since they charge to use the phones in the building. Hope I never have to go here since they put so little effort in helping contact people

Unfortunately, had to visit HFH Emergency, on Saturday, September 21, 2021, in Detroit while on vaca from Virginia Beach! What a phenomenal emergency room staff on duty that day! From check in at security, the very young man asking us what was wrong, to the nurses while in the waiting room; what an incredible team! We were unfamiliar with the hospital and the staff was on top of their game! Our attending nurse was Henry and will give him 100+ stars! The two doctors that showed up to assess the situation we're young and on top of their game! I want to say one was named Dr Haggerty or something like that, sorry. They asked if we had family in the city and after saying we had family and a friend from more than 40 years that all lived in the city, they treated us like royalty!! They said they wanted us to enjoy the rest of our time visiting their city and our family and friends!!!! We'll done???? Praying for all front line workers????????

This review absolutely DOES NOT pertain to the reason why I was recently admitted. That will be addressed under separate cover. In sharp contrast, this commentary is about the ladies on B Ward, who are sublime! Specifically, Colleen Smith (Rockstar RN), Michelle Isso (RN), Katelin Miller (NA), Sheena Chandler (NA), and Tina (Ernestina) Oryere (RN) are personified earth angels, who made a terrible situation more tolerable. They are extremely hard-working, professional, respectful, accommodating and downright awesome. They are stellar examples of EVERYDAY HEROES who deserve top-notch recognition and compensation. May GOD BLESS these very special HF ANGELS; THANK YOU!

During an emotional break-down.... their objective seems to either possess off or ignore it. I haven't eaten on three weeks. They bring pancakes orange juice cottage cheese... yuck... a tiny bowl or oatmeal or wheartheaeta... I could at least try to eat.

This hospital has changed so much. I have gone there for about 15 yrs on and off and now it has changed. The Doctors are all different. They are not friendly as they used to be, the halls are completely empty of anyone, almost like they have lay offs. I will never go back there if I can help it. I am back to Providence, its much nicer out there even if it is further. I am sick of snotty Doctors who won't even come to the bedside and check a person. I was ill, and he didn't even realize it as he didn't check me, my husband had just gotten over the same thing as I had. I come home and got some medicine and got better and then got a bill, I felt robbed. Sorry Henry Ford Hosp. I won't be back unless it is not my choice.

First off, my problem isn’t with the whole hospital. Just the liver specialists. Almost 4 years ago, my father was put on the liver transplant list and the liver team told us he’d be on the list for 2 years at the most. Well, 2 years went by and he still didn’t receive a new liver. Anytime we went to the doctor appointment with the liver specialist, he ALWAYS told my dad he was to “healthy” for a transplant. How is walking with a cane or walker, not eating and losing almost 50 pounds not sick enough? He had to retire from the job he loved, cuz he couldn’t do it anymore. How is throwing up blood and in an out of the hospital once or twice a month “to healthy”?? That is something we never understood. Over this past summer (2018) my dad had to have lung surgery, so he could breathe. This was caused by his liver and lack of immune system, covering his lung in extra tissue. The surgery itself went fantastic. But after two weeks, everything went down hill. He got a stomach and lung infection and went into a coma. The doctor repeatedly told us he wasn’t going to make it. They advised us to say goodbye. However, me and my family never gave up and weeks later, my dad WOKE UP. So many doctors were surprised about it. Of course we were happy, but by being asleep for two weeks caused him to lose more weight and become weak. It was going on 3 years being on the transplant list and now the liver team was telling us he was to weak for a transplant. This is what caused us to be very angry. How can you tell him he’s to healthy, wait years while he’s suffering and to tell him he’s to weak AFTER fighting a bacterial and fungal infection and winning??!!! I know I’m not a doctor, I’m just a college student. But I’d rather have lost my father on the operating table and then not trying, and that’s what happened. I had to sit and hold my fathers hand while his heart stopped beating because no one on the transplant team would even try or help him. I had to sit in the hospital for MONTHS watching my father turn into a man I didn’t recognize. I had to watch my dad get a tracheotomy, I had to watch my father throw up blood. I had to watch my father get a feeding tube. I had to watch my father get poked and prodded everyday because they wouldn’t give him a new liver or even try. I had so much hope to the future with my dad, and now at 21 I have to deal with his death. NO one should EVER have to go through this. I am very disappointed with Henry fords liver team. They couldn’t save my dad when they said they would/could.

“Anna” at the gift shop was not customer forward when it came to me ordering flowers for a patient in the hospital. She seemed frustrated that I was asking questions about the sizes and availability of floral items. Also she did not have in stock what we had agreed upon. I had to settle on a different item. There is also a delivery fee for inside the building. Since according to Anna, sometimes they have to close the gift shop for flower deliveries.

PATRICIA Montagne

Even though people complain that the system is slower than usual, I find that it is totally false. They are thorough in the work that they do. Excellent medical staff that they certain that all the eyes are doted and t's are crossed.dotthere eyes

Worst ER ever. Waited almost 3 hours asked the nurse when I would be seen the one in triage said people interrupting is the reason the wait is so bad and then the second nurse apologized and told me she had no idea when I would be seen. I ended up leaving, went to a different ER. I had a fever and kidney infection and was almost admitted. I’m done with Henry Ford doctors, hospitals, and clinics. Then I was really upset when I missed the call about how my Er visit was , I would have told them everything. I called back and left a message but just like last night they don’t care about what I’m feeling or have to say.

sami richgirl

I just wanted to take the time to thank ms.faye FROM OPTIM EYES for taking the time out of her job yesterday to walk my baby glasses out to the car due to the fact I was getting the hardest time because my kids couldn't come in the building... IM forever grateful because she most definitely did not have to do that!! I told her they wasn't letting me in and she did was ask what kinda car was I driving THANK YOU SO MUCH

John Zervos

It can be amazing what you notice during times of tragedy. I walked into a public bathroom and could swear the floor was so clean and polished that it looked brand new. My father was in such a state the nurse only left for 5 minutes to pee. She was wonderful. We didn't know if he would last an hour more. But we felt confident the doctors were doing everything they could to save him, make him comfortable and respect his wishes.

bruce Smith

I have a gun show to the leg and have been waiting in a triage room for 13 hours while I’m still bleeding. Absolutely ridiculous

Rebecca Logan

The staff are wonderful very caring and friendly, the food is actually pretty decent as far as hospitals go. The only thing is the e.r. wait time and the wait time getting a room but I do understand that happening from time to time due to capacity issues. Doubt that part will get resolved but other then going in at 9am and sitting in the "wait"area for 6 hours, finally got ab e r. Bed and was there until 11 the next morning when surgery finally came to get me. After that everything was pretty good.

What the HECK was I thinking giving birth here?! It was a horrible experience! Three years ago my family suggested instead of going to Hutzels Women's Hospital that I go here instead. Bad idea. When I first arrived my husband asked for a wheel chair and the Nurse said that they were all taken due to the fact that everyone was in labor. Coincidence? Whatever. After waiting 15 minutes for a wheel chair I sat in the waiting room crying in pain asking the Nurse to let me back there because I had a strong feeling I was about to give birth. Of course she wouldn't listen to me, she told me to just hold tight for a few more seconds. Those seconds turned into minutes which turned into an hour. A Nurse came out of the back telling my husband "Everyone is in labor so you'll have to wait for a bed." So we waited....and waited....finally a Nurse pushed me through the double doors in the back and told me she had to check to see how far along I was. I told her I had to go to the bathroom really bad but she refuse to let me. After asking her four times she finally let me. When she wheeled me into Labor & Delivery another Nurse told me to lay on my left side but I wanted to lay on my back because I could feel the baby pushing down. She kept insisting that I lay on my left side, well I'm glad I did not listen to her because as soon as I rolled over on my back the baby started coming out. The Nurse said "Don't push! Don't push!" I told her "I'm not pushing the baby is coming out!!!" She looked surprised like she didn't know what to do, she screamed to the other Nurses "The baby is coming now!!!!" The baby came out as soon as a different Nurse sat in front of me. After I gave birth the next day they wheeled me into a freezing cold room with no heat & it smelled like pee! Whoever the Housekeeper was he or she didn't do a good job of cleaning the room. They discharged me after less than 24 hours! And then claimed that my baby had Jaundice. I rushed to a Pediatrician thinking my baby was in danger only to find out that my baby didn't have Jaundice at all. I would not suggest any of my family members or friends to give birth here.

Staffers are friendly and always ready to give assistance when they notice a visitor seem to have difficulty locating a certain area within the hospital facility. Always with a pleasant smile.????????????????????????????

Second time at the ER for swollen leg. Came in yesterday rather than do blood work they did pregnancy test ???? no not pregnant!! Today told by both ER NURSES it is first come first serve and that people are dying. But of the two Lindsey was by far the rudest, most unprofessional nurse I have ever dealt with. However, a guy ???? came after us he was given ice for his leg and saw the orthopedic doctor that just so happened to be in the area. WOW !! The orthopedic doctor even made his followup appointment. No nurse, no doctor for over an hour. TALK ABOUT THE DISPARITY !! Even asked the orthopedic doctor's assistant a question, she said she couldn't answer or leave the doctor's side and I needed to ask the nurse who was not available. Not the place to come for service. People are dying here!!

Rainbow79

You have some nasty nurses that work for your hospital very bad attitudes and should not be nurses Geesh check your attitude!

melinda alford

I give complete zero why is my loved still waiting in the hospital for a bed this is the worst hospital to me in Michigan I been to.and I cannot get in touch,or know if he is in pain,or see him and he has been there for hours no one is telling me nothing at all and by the minute I'm getting agitated and upset.just unprofessional to me.

Laura Cubbler

My 89 year old mom has Covid. No updates from anyone. She’s basically been left in her room with no shower, or physical therapy. Can’t get case worker Supreece to call back regarding placement in rehab. I understand that she is no longer a priority patient, but this is subpar treatment. I do not recommend Henry Ford-West Bloomfield

Natalie Waligora

I was here this past weekend. The ER is normally where I get the worst care, and then if I get admitted, get wonderful care from the nurses and doctors. I came in for pain control. I have chronic pain in my right stomach pain and also was extremely nauseated. I waited 2.5 hours to get a room, not bad, I’ve waited longer. I was in my room from 10pm and got discharged at 9am the next morning. The issue is… I came for pain control… I saw the doctor, we talked about what was wrong, an hour later my nurse came back. The entire time I was there, I NEVER GOT ANYTHING FOR FOR PAIN! I was in excruciating pain the entire time I was there. The doctor wouldn’t do anything. I also deal with pain management, they weren’t consulted, and supposedly GI was consulted, but who knows. The main thing is… I came for pain control… and got no help!

Belinda Olivastri

The Dr's and nursing staff are very professional and caring. Husband had a liver transplant and whipple procedure and is recovering nicely! Shout out also to Rosemary in guest housing and the many other hospital staff for being so nice and praying for my husband.

Raquel Italia

Have we lost our privacy due to COVID? Unpleasant encounter on Weds 2/10. It appeared staff at East entrance felt she had sole authority to decide who comes in and out of the hospital even if it’s for purchasing OTC meds from O/P pharmacy. This is never a problem with other HF Hospital. Only here at Detroit. I do appreciate the precautions, however it felt like screener at Henry Ford Detroit was overzealous by denying entry to building and insisted I use curbside service. Others were allowed in to use bathroom but not myself for trying to buy OTC meds?

Aboody Akk

Don't come to the ER UNLESS you're good at making a scene! That's the easiest way in. You'll wait for 5+ hours to be seen & they'll let people in before you only if they yell or give them hard time. People who are polite and stays quite, expect to wait for a very long time. I would never come back to this hospital. Not only for their unprofessional , disrespectful services but for the language you'd hear throughout your wait. This Is basically a hood hospital. Disappointing

Ryechuy Ayometzi

Been waiting 2 hours and they have over 20 people packed side by side in a small hallway with people sitting on the floors too because there is no more seating and many of which not wearing masks. Have not seen a doctor yet and was referred because the doctors felt it was an emergency. Everything is dirty and unorganized. And staff are standing around talking and fooling around or on their cell phones. Yet nobody has been called to be seen in over an hour and a half of the waiting. Had I known I would have told the doctor we’d rather drive to a good hospital. Edit after almost 3 hours they called back patients to sit in beds in the hallway. However all 4 people that got called first came in AFTER we did. I asked they were going to go by the order we came in or the order they were calling people into the hallway and was told what ever the doctor wants to do. Which still didn’t answer the question or address that they allowed 4 patients to be seen ahead of us that arrive after. So I guess they don’t go In order or by severity. Would have been seen quicker had I driven an hour or more to a different hospital and then waited there to be seen. Not to mention Henry Ford caused the problem to begin with by inserting an iv incorrectly and in a high nerve location and then they leave you in pain for hours while you deal with it. Go to DMC instead. Or literally anywhere else. Edit again : just watched a nurse reach arm deep in the garbage to grab a red bag with samples in it, sent it through the box then hand sanitize her hands (not thorough, at all ) instead of washing them and then went in a room to treat a patient. Absolutely disgusting. And she checked to see if people were looking before and after she did it little did she know we saw everything. I wonder what else they do when they think no one is looking.

This is the WORST hospital ever. No respect no care toward their patient it’s Horrible. I went to deliver my baby and they kept me waiting for almost 3 hours in the waiting room because they didn’t have room to put me in ?? And after birth The nurses always forgot about my pain medication and gave them to me hours later after I ask them. They made mistakes on my newborn birth certificate and didn’t write the fathers name on it and need to fill out applications to Lansing to get it fixed and pay $50 fee for the corrections. Also their ER is trash the wait is so long and the rooms are so dirty I’ve waited their for 6 hours and didn’t get treated for the issue I went for . they don’t respect or care about the patients all they care about is their pay check .worst experience and horrible hospital and staff. I’ll never go back their again and I will let friends and family know to not deal with what I dealt.

Karen Armstrong

Wow. My mom has an appointment here Tuesday, and I just talked her out of it after reading the reviews of all these vulnerable patients. What's worse is the uncaring generic responses from the hospital itself. Just responding enough to care, but accepting no responsibility. My brother, sister and I will not allow these things to happen to her. Period.

Cynthia Mitchell

Came to ER at 11Am, mother fell and hurt her back…in severe pain. Say in waiting room until 11:30…not too bad. Was taken back at 11:30 and put in hallway because there we’re no rooms available. Doctor came and ordered Ct Lumvar Spine and pain meds. Ct was done and it is now 12:58 pm and no pain meds! Doctor is releasing mother and was surprised she has no pain meds yet. Very disappointing

I was transferred here by ambulance from Jackson Henry Ford and put in MICU Pod 6. Michaela and Kristanna were 2 nurses I saw the most and a 3rd one, Gabby I think, she was sweet too. They brought me icecream from home and let me get up to take a shower once a day. No treatment was ever late, questions answered if I had any and the whole staff was cool. I had a stone stuck in my neck and it hurt quite a bit, pain management was spot on. I was actually sad to leave in a weird way when I said goodbye and thank you to Michaela, she was there when I discharged. I appreciate it ladies, thank you and all back to normal.

Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is a fantastic hospital. I was near death when brought in a little over a month ago, and the doctors and nurses that cared for me (and saved my life) were just wonderful. I am so grateful to them for the excellent care that I received. The ICU nurses were exceptional. And the hospital is just beautiful. I have been back a couple of times for lab work, so I can appreciate the shops on "Main Street", etc. more now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Sue Hatheway

They seem to not care about their job too much. I’ve been sitting here for 4 hours and have had a urine rest some and told I’d be discharged Shortly an hour ago. They aren’t too enthusiastic about helping patients but they are super enthusiastic about sitting in the hall ways talking to each other. No hospital have I ever gotten the impression that the doctors literally did not care... until now.

Please do not bring yourself or loved ones to this hospital. Henry Ford of West Bloomfield is not a hospital it is a morgue. This institution does not promote health-care, it is simply sick-care. They will constantly try to discharge patients who are not ready for discharge. This hospital is simply profit motivated. Your loved ones will die here, do not bring them please. Providence hospital is a much better option. Dr. Abbey Bonato was the physician for the visit that prompted this review. I have reported her to the AMA. The lack of care in this hospital is astounding, if patients did not have their family members constantly asking for help and assistance then patients would never be helped. Please, please, please do not bring your loved ones here. It will end only in pain and suffering. As for the staff member that comments to these reviews please save yourself the time and energy and focus more on training your staff then typing worthless platitudes on a keyboard.

6.5 months pregnant and presented to the hospital with severe chest pain. The ER would not even check my blood pressure or complete an EKG. They transferred to L&D where I waited another 20 minutes to be evaluated. It took about another 30-45 minutes for the doctor to round and write an order for routine cardiac labs, and an EKG to be ordered. As a Nurse myself this response time for a report of chest pain was very disappointing. The ER process needs to be re-evaluated for expecting mother’s presenting with chest pain. Someone can go in cardiac arrest within one minute. Henry Ford can do better.

If I could rate them in the negatives I would???? Took my husband here because it was the closest hospital to us. He was in excruciating pain and vomiting from what we believe was a kidney stone but not positive. The waiting room was very busy but non of the people waiting seemed to be in any sort of pain like my husband. Most were laughing and waiting their turn. Now I by no means believe we should just be bumped in front of everyone but I do believe they should see people based on urgency. When I asked the nurse at the desk if there was anyway they could get him going because he was in so much pain I was told “ he’s only coming in for a kidney stone” and that they had people there with chest pain. Now I remind you he is in tremendous pain and vomiting and we weren’t positive that was the issue. I asked her why then did she take the girl with an ankle brace on if she had people with chest pain cuz she clearing wasn’t experiencing chest pain. I was then told “your husband won’t die from a kidney stone”. This was the worst ER experience ever and I would never go back. They didn’t care at all about anything happening with my husband. Just told him to have a seat and then get to him when we get to him. We immediately left and went to Troy Beaumont where he was taken care promptly and they cared about getting his pain under control. I would recommend Troy Beaumont to everybody. Henry Ford Macomb is a joke!!!

Horrible Hospital! Do not go unless you're rich or get in writing what they say! My doctor sent me here to get a test I called the hospital to set up the appointment and was told the hospital needed an order faxed to them. I had the physical order so they took down the details and my insurance and said they'd call back with an appointment date when they got the order because they needed insurance specifics and all that. They called back with my appointment after it was faxed over. Then sent me a reminder and info on the test I was getting done. They also called and confirmed my appointment. The hospital is 4 hours from me one way and I don't drive so I get a friend to drive me, pay them gas, hire a dog sitter since its an all day thing, drive 4 hours and they tell me they don't take my insurance... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? they messed up and made a mistake even though they had my insurance company name and insurance numbers. Obviously I'm upset. I ask to speak with someone and they send someone who just says sorry and tells me I'll get a call from the hospital the next day and I drive 4 more hours home no test. Complete waste of time, money and the hospital never called. Horrible hospital! If you intend to go there you better either have the cash to pay because regardless of insurance and what they tell you over and over they might not take it. So now its back to my neurologist and more waiting to go to a new hospital for the test, hope I don't die before I'm seen. A hospital that doesn't care and makes mistakes that delay you getting well that's not the exact opposite of what a hospital should be. Zero accountability zero respect for their patients. If you get the wrong order at a restaurant they make it right I'm sure as heck not going to a place in charge of handling my health that has lower standards than a fast food joint!

I hate to pun any negative review on a heath care facility especially at this time and I do appreciate and understand what health workers go through nowadays, however priorities make say what I have say. From my experience her as a visiter with my sick family member, I never seen any employees this busy with their cell phones like this place and in many cases this leads to abuse of patients here and may lead in loss of lives. I hopefully Henry Ford will come up with a reasonable policy for both patients and employees. Yes I understand employees need to be connected with the outside world especially with their families, however, there should be a time for calling and texting during breaks or something.

I understand that you must work on patients With the most serious health emergency problems first. My only problem with what HFWB Emergency is fast track. In the hallway. There were at least 3 to 4 patients at a time. I and I'm sure others felt our privacy wasn't taken care of the correct way. I was called this morning, woke up. They did take care of me,but, I feel worse than I did when I was in the er. I am in pain. I can't get into to see my family doctor until tomorrow. All but being in the hospital hallway very impersonal they were ok. They gave me pain medication while I was in the hospital error. I have been in 9 to 10 pain since Tuesday. The staff is great, but I didn't like the being treated in the hallway. At least I got a day out of the main pain and I thank you for this.

I just had an ultrasound done by Jennifer with an assist from Angela in the Vascular Lab at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. These two radiology vascular technicians are so helpful and professional. Jennifer kindly explained what was going on in easy to understand terms. I felt very comfortable and am grateful for their kind expertise. Thank you both for the great job and also for being so kind, and I look forward to visiting HFWBH again, for my health care needs. The staff there is terrific! Please let them know they are appreciated. Thank you! Sincerely, Diane S.

The actual doctor himself saved my Aunt’s life and I will NOT discredit that. She is lucky to not only be alive but alert and aware after major brain surgery. However the nursing staff in the ICU is hit or miss. The first 2 visits I watched 2 very caring nurses. 48 hours later and 3rd visit I walked into her hands restrained to the bed, screaming in pain because she had no pain medication, and her remote (AKA nurse button conveniently wrapped around a pole BEHIND her bed. I requested pain medication immediately while the nurse seemed to be more concerned with defending his actions- accuses her of being delirious when she tried to tell me what was happening. I found that day of interactions with him to be condescending and with attitude. Then I was informed by other staff it is hospital policy for “delirious” patients who can barely communicate to request pain medication directly or they won’t receive it. I guess the moral of the story is ICU patients must be monitored during full visiting hours by family or friends.

Friendly, fast, helpful and knowledgeable staff. It was the most beautiful experience. I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl here. I am so grateful thank you ????????

Danielle Crombez

I would give this hospital a negative 10000000000000000000000 of I could. Not only were the nursing staff so insensitive when my boyfriend and father of my 2 year old daughter died Literally so rude to me over the phone! when we went in to say goodbye and were crying before he was taken off life support all the nurses looked at me and the family as if we were disturbing them because we were crying. This hospital is horrible. The worst bedside manner and absolutely no compassion. I will never step foot into another henery ford hospital in my life!

Samantha Chapala

If you look at my previous reviews I left DMC to come here. Mistake! The 3 stars are for TRIAGE team and triage team only. They were awesome. Id give the rest of the visit 0 stars. I came in barely breathing and they got me right in, gave me breathing treatments. I was told it would be 1 hour until I was moved to a “quick treatment” area if my covid test came back negative (it did). I proceeded to wait FOUR HOURS. Still having a hard time breathing. No nurses would give me any time estimations, answer my questions, or even give further treatments “until I got a room”. At the four hour mark I got up and left. Called a local Beaumont with no wait time. No reason I should be waiting four hours and gasping for breath. Go anywhere else. (Besides DMC)

I used to believe this to be a nice hospital. I had all 3 of my children here and with each child I feel they cared less and less. The last straw for me (since I am done having kids) was when I had a recent surgery. The doctor was nice- from what I remember, they spoke to me while I was still out of it from the surgery- but the nursing staff was appalling. When I would ask for help because it hurt or tell them I was going to be sick- both of which I was told to speak with them- I was treated as if I were a burden. I stopped asking for help and just silently cried. I eventually asked if I could just go home if I was not going to be helped. It was a very upsetting experience.

My wife and I went there at 4:30am while attempting delivery elsewhere but complications lead us here. Probably the best decision we made, the staff in labor and delivery were amazing with my wife, major props to Brittany, Kim and Andrea are the ones who stuck out the most. Afterwards moving to the acorn unit (women's health and child something) all of the staff there were equally great. Erica, Dave, Niresha and tameka all wonderful as well. Thank all involved in the birth of my little girl for all you did.

I have made an appointment to see Dr. Pahuta for my spinal stenosis in cervical, neck and lower back and lumbar radiculopathy two months ago. I have been looking forward to see Dr. Pahuta for today's appointment but this morning I was told that my doctor is changed to some other doctor at the very last minute. I am very frustrated to hear and wondering if Henry Ford is like Providence hospital. The appointment lady was kind of rude when I asked why my doctor was changed. She only told me I can cancel or reschedule.

Eni Dhimitriadhi

I need a book to write a review for this place and the staff! Whatever i say it can not really describe the way i was treated here since the first day. I delivered my son 12/21/2020 and both of us had complications after the procedure and we had to stay in hospital for 7 days. I don’t know where to start and who to thank first. All the nurses were AMAZING. Rachel and Tricia were my guardian angels. And the NICU staff that took such a good care of my son . And than the doctors, Dr.Simmerman, Dr.Alfaid, Dr.Lee ( i saw him only one time but he was so helpful ) . FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, THANK YOU!

Mel Nelson

ER staff pleasant. Admit to er seemed faster than previous trips. Then the wait began, 23 hrs waiting for an observation room. Staff never offered turn or reposition patient. Used wick away system, loud and oftened leaked. Patient was ambulatory with assist not offered trip to bathroom. Social worker gave no help to finding rehab center.???? O8-17-21. Patient has been home since 08-15- 21 no nurse,no pt, or ot. Is there a communication problem at Henry Ford. I hope someone reads this soon to ask more information on patient.

Lauren Garney

The absolute WORST patient care I’ve EVER experienced!! I’ve had appointments rescheduled without my knowledge, been completely dismissed about my health concerns by doctors who DO NOT care about their patients, and now I am being DENIED an exam for issues that NO ONE should have to experience. If you’re going here for care (Especially in the Women’s Health Department), save your time and energy and go to Planned Parenthood to speak with people who ACTUALLY CARE!!

Nathan A

Every time a family member of mine or I have gone to this hospital, we've had to wait for long periods of time for a doctor to treat us. GO ANYWHERE ELSE NO MATTER HOW BIG OF AN EMERGENCY IT IS, because you'll just be waiting. I guarantee you, you will have to wait a long period of time to see a doctor. Note: I haven't been there in years so I'm not aware of changes that have occurred

Nicole Harris

Currently still here and been here since Saturday morning.I had my second surgery yesterday, and my first one with you guys on March 13th. I’m on F4 and just want to say I’ve had amazing staff so far! A huge thank you to my nurses Heather, Amy and Jenna!! They have been absolutely amazing!! Each one of them have went above and beyond for me. Constantly checking in on me, always on time for my pain medication, always making sure I had all my needs and wants, and never having to wait! Great job ladies, and thank you again! My last experience in March was not a good one at all to say the least, but I gave it another try, and I’m so glad I did!

Don’t take your loved ones to the ICU! They don’t listen to the family and insist on wrong diagnosis. Our loved one got diagnosed with a stroke and later on came to find out it was a cirrosis. They performed dialysis and he code out, saying his body couldn’t resist it. Then did a tracheotomy and said he will live forever with it in a nursing home without being able to talk. My family was told on Christmas Day, he would be sent home because the hospital could no longer do anything for him. Our loved one was transferred to another hospital (thank God) were they knew what to do and how. After 2 months he was discharged with no machines attached to him and walking perfectly fine. He now take dialysis 3 times a week. Henry Ford is a student hospital were you become a lab rat and when they can’t fix you, you’re done for them.

Lisa Holmes

If i could give this place -stars i would in a heartbeat. My brother with stage 5 kidney failure and liver failure was treated like dirt by the staff there even in front of family. When he was discharged he was left in the lobby to wait alone even though he could barely remain conscious and was confused due to elevated ammonia levels in his system. They did not help set up anything for after discharge like his dialysis that he needed 4 times per week or his antibiotic infusion he needed for days afterwards. They left us to do that with out any type of notice. The communication with them to the infusion clinic was so lax that he could not even get any of it done so now we are taking him back to our local hospital since he has rapidly declined due to their lack of care and professionalism. Watching someone you love slowly die after everything hes already been through. They are a terrible place and we will be contacting a lawyer. If you love your person do NOT take them here.

Suzie B

Do not go to this hospital for anything urgent. We waited in ER for 4 hours with heart failure. When the doctors come to see you, their first question is rudely put, "Why are you here?" When i tried to explain, they then say, "who told you that?" I tried to show them my documents of tests my doctor told me to bring, and they say, "I don't want to see them." The doctors here are RUDE. They make you feel like you're wasting their time. I had 3 very nice nurses and only one rude, uncaring nurse. I was supposed to be seen by a heart doctor, but I had to demand to see one. They were just going to have me see an internal medicine doctor for heart failure. He didn't know anything about heart failure. When i was discharged after 2 days, they didn't even get me a wheelchair to take me out. They said i couldn't have the lunch i ordered before i left either. THIS HOSPITAL REALLY Doesn't care about their patients. I will never go here again and I did I form my doctor.

Lee Middlekauff

My 97 year old mother has been in the ER for most of the day. Finally brought. He some food at 3:30pm. She hadn't eaten all day. They say she's fin3, but say could be awhile before released. Very bad experience

Yogie Beau

My fiancé was brought to the hospital at 12pm and still haven’t been seen nor check for COVID-19 and it’s NOW 6pm. The staff from the EMS to the ER reception has been rude and unprofessional. I don’t get how you have a patient for 7 hours laying in a hallway with no UPDATES to tell the family. I completely understand about no visitation but to have NOTHING to inform the family that’s calling is ridiculous. I’m highly disappointed in the staff and service received.

Sue Morris

My wife went to Henry Ford-hospital with Covid. She died a week later. No one was aloud to go see her and after she died they could not find her belongings. The clothes she wore, her wallet and her jewelry all gone. I think this is the worst hospital I have ever come in contact with. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. Very irresponsible and unprofessional.

Tomeika Washington

I had my baby at Henry Ford Main hospital on West Grand Blvd, On January 13 2020. I was scheduled for a C-section and was very nervous but anxious too. The staff here are utterly amazing! They made me feel so comfortable and helped me so much while I was there. The nurses and aids are just remarkable! Alita and Markita, both night shift employees were my absolute favorite! They coached me through breastfeeding and kept my spirits up tremendously! I want to Thank them and Henry Ford Hospital for making this experience an amazing and unforgettable journey!! Thank y'all!!!!

Rebecca M

I've had nothing but good experiences with all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff. I'm on a transplant list and they've held my hand and walked me through all of the insanity that comes with it.

Laila 01

This hospital is wonderful. Parking is free and easy. The labor & delivery unit is beautiful. The room is huge and clean. The food is so delicious and seems freshly made. The nurses are so amazing and caring. The nurses will advocate for the patients and they really listen to what you want. Nurses Kerri and Kim from L&D were amazing! ♡

Brian Csikos

Been using the walk in lab here for years now. Wait is almost always less than 15 minutes and the staff is friendly which is appreciated when battling medical problems. I had one lab error but was able to get retested and the bill corrected without issue.

Leanne Capps

Worst hospital ever. Treated an emergency like it was nothing. Sat in the e.r. for over 4 hours waiting before we even got a room. I had to go complain to get them to treat my mom. Didnt take anything seriously. Moved us from waiting room to waiting room and took people back before us that arrived after us.

This One

PICK ANOTHER HOSPITAL TO DELIVER AT! My daughter was delivered her and went into respiratory distress 12 hours after being born. They claim they are equipped to be a better ranking hospital then they really are. Don't believe all the talk. It's just talk. They wanted to keep her for observation and thankfully I demanded they transport to an ACTUAL NICU. There's no doubt she wouldn't be here today if I had listened to them. Also, they didn't do a C-section until 27 HOURS AFTER HER WATER BROKE. Rule of thumb is 24 MAX! Remember that please.

Mark Kaczmarek

They maybe a too notch hospital as far as medical care but when it comes to communication, poor. There was absolutely none. I asked for a call from the Doctor concerning my mother’s diagnosis and they said that a doctor would be calling on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Crickets!! Absolutely no phone call! The only phone we received was to my sister stating that she was being discharged in an hour!!!! That is absolutely terrible!!!

Kimberly Lincoln

They are doing their best, I think they are going above and beyond, especially in these times. People need to be understanding that depending on what you are there for, some health emergencies take precedence over others.

Ann McGuffie

This hospital discharged my mother after having a surgical procedure, she had infections, the very next day she collapsed and was taken to our local hospital, Accension, unfortunately due to how complex the procedure was we have to back to HFH. We have been waiting for over 4 hours for HFH, to get the transport put through, meanwhile my mother's condition is getting worse, and we are still waiting!!!! Don't even send a dog to die here....

Darlenina Robinson

Was having a asthma attack they made me wait about 30 mins to get treated then tried to do alot of other medical stuff that i did not treatment for then once leaving they security gaurds was bothering me for no reason disrespectful people there

jessica Elaine

The ONLY positive care, interaction and feedback is for my gastroenterologist. If I were to write all of the inappropriate language, topics, care among staff It would be a short novel. The wait times, the uneducated staff, absolutely NO communication between staff, the not giving me my medications, not letting me eat or drink for over 14 hours for no reason. We would be here all day. DO NOT take any family member you love or yourself here. Total disappointment

Peter Poma

In my opinion, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is a state of the art facility. They are focused on delivering the best quality medical care. Patient satisfaction and comfort are obvious. I had Total Hip Replacement surgery here and received the very best of care, including follow-up at home. Everything went smoothly without any issues. Visits to Specialists, imaging, testing, etc., Have all been positive experiences. The hospital is beautiful, with "Main Street" shopping and a cafeteria that serves health centered foods. Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield is our hospital of choice. In fact, all of our doctors have been chosen, because of their access to this fine hospital.

Amy Tarek

Spent almost 24 hours in their emergency room they kept changing the booth! Most nurses are rude as hell and the doctors are super confused!!! This hospital is famous by name not by the services. Very disappointed with their emergency services. One Residents told us to admit then other residence Made a change without letting us know what's going on!! Asked nurse for ice cubes she gave me without spoon I asked for spoon she replied have it with hand!! How rude!!.but hey everywhere we have bad and good people so yes some nurses and doctors were really nice...

Tra Jones

The patient care has dropped tremendously over the years and it is very disheartening. My father had a serious life threatening surgery (double lung and heart transplant) and he is the first person that they have ever performed this procedure on. The doctors seem to care but the nurses spend more time on their phones then tending to my father who has been unconscious for almost 3 weeks now. His finger tips are turning black and have gotten worse over the past 2 weeks. The nurses asked me to "come get somebody" if the machine continued to beep! Of course I'm going to be concerned so I asked questions, a doctor thought it was reassuring to tell me that she wanted MY father to health and get better 3x more than I ever would. They take him in for unexplained "procedures" every other day and at this point they are just experimenting and running the bill up to collect from his insurance company. I was taken off as the contact as his spokes person without my permission and notifying me. My fathers life is my first concern, but after this is over I'm taking legal action. Please, I urge you to take your loved one elsewhere.

Haina Mohamed

I have had surgery 3 times in orthopedics. I am amazed how well the team works together. The best care ever by nurses and doctors. This facility is beautifully layed out, easy to locate departments, and a very clean and caring environment. It's my #1 hospital.

Sherman Rogers

Absolutely the worst hospital to have a baby , no one follows through or communicates ..I called ahead of time 1 ¹/2 let them know we were on way to get a room ready since we were doing hipnobirthing . Get there NO room waiting around for 2 hours when contractions were under 1min 30 sec . head staff nurses rude and the Mid wife floor is a joke, Nothing midwife about it ... sad 4th baby so I do know who it should be . ... Beaumont is much better. Sad. Especially when it's supposed to be the happiest time in life ... sad sad sad ... I had to give them 1 star to give a review . Don't get me wrong some people tried but others messed it up for everyone .....

billie jo

I normally don't care much about writing reviews but I read a few negative ones about long wait times and no communitation between staff. But I stayed here for 8 days, I had a great time. For one the room service is amazing and the cleaning crew came every day leaving me with a card incase I make a mess or anything, I was given heating packs, ice, juice, water, and anything else I wanted just by asking. there is a supply closet by every nurses station and it seemed like a lot of bad comments expected to get everything without asking... The people who work here cant read your mind, if you need or want something ask. Also I was checked on every 4 hours consistently and was introduced to every new staff member I was meeting also there is a board in every room that says your basic info and who is going to be caring for you nurses and stuff like that and a plan of action so you are always updated on whats going on. I did not have one bad experience being here and I did wait 7 hours in the er to get a bed but thats also because most peoole get discharger around 12 noon I came in the night before So of course im going to wait for a bed especially when there are more important cases than mine. But while waiting I was given juice, water and a sandwich. Like I said before if your hungry after waiting 6 hours and you have kids just ask for food. They wont let you go hungry I promise they will feed you. I was allowed to go to main street woch is like a cute shoppinh mall woth stores by the lunch room. And they have tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Shower water was nice and hot I was helped in the shower just by asking I was given a wheel chair so I could explore a bit. The staff here are nice, idk why people wrote bad reviews because I saw atleast 30+ people in my stay and everyone was so sweet. Discharging does take kinda long but you gotta remember that youre not the only patient! The people working here are saving lives and if you cant manage to wait a little to be discharged so a patient who needs help can get help then perhaps youre the problem and not the staff. Thats really all I have to say, if you or a family member needs to stay at a hospital choose this one, I had such a good experience that I go to the hospital ever now and again just to sit in the lunch area and eat some of the amazing food. This place is so clean and classy and if you need anything seriously ask the nurses, they will get you anything you want or need.

BILL KILLMAN

The hospital adress W. Grand Blvd. NOT EAST which is what Google says it is. Herny Ford is the best doctor's in Michigan... Food sucks. But it's a hospital not a restaurant. The nurses are awesome in the icu.

Debbie Christenson

Emergency room wait was long. The staff however, was excellent. Nurses were very caring and knowledgeable. PA Britt was excellent. We even got a specialty consult. All the auxiliary staff were very polite. Not one person had a bad attitude. Would highly recommend

Ali Obeid

Really bad don’t ever go there. Ya the people that say it’s perfect is when you they go and nobody is they’re and they be good with the patient otherwise when there’s busy they will never look at you die or anything on the floor they will never look at you. SMFH

Fatima

Terrible experience. This ER is one of the worst I have been to. Reminded me of being overseas. My dad was left in a hallway for hours, with covid patient rooms in between him, no pain medications given until hours later and only because we repeatedly had to ask. Even just to get him a blanket was like pulling teeth. Completely chaotic triage system without good management. The lab was down so we didn’t get results in for a few hours. How can the lab just go down like that with no plan for hours? He needed imaging to see what was going on and because the labs were down they would not do it until the lab tests came back. Medical providers seen included a rude PA with poor bedside manners who said something like “even if he needs surgery it’s not like the surgeon will come to do it right away.” As a frontline healthcare worker myself who is also overworked, pandemic stress is no excuse to treat someone this way. What terrible bedside manners to provide to someone in acute pain. Only come here if you want to see you your loved one suffer in front of you or sign up for your or their own death. Never again.

I'm currently in Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. My experience here has been beyond exceptional, the entire staff from the moment I entered a week ago has been so focused and driven to provide me with the most outstanding care. I came in with what was thought to be a bone tumor and the doctors worked with each other in various departments to get to the bottom of the problem. Thankfully it was only a serious and somewhat uncommon infection in my thigh. The staff all had such great bedside manner and made me feel confident in their planning and decisions. I've never felt more safe and taken care of In my life. I really want to give a major thanks to the nursing staff on my floor. The guys and gals who've attended to me take nursing to another level. They are quick responding, patient with your needs and concerns, and make you feel right at home. I came in thinking I could potentially die and am leaving tomorrow knowing I'm cancer free , with the memory of all the great doctors, nurses and staff members who have made this terrifying time so much easier to handle. I wish all of the people who have attended to me and my care could receive the highest recognition for their excellence and top notch service. I will never trust my health with any place but Henry Ford Health Systems. I had a major surgery on my leg during my stay and they made me feel like it was something I could handle. They gave me confidence in a full recovery. Thank you all for everything.

Angelo Cholagh

The Henry Ford Hospital of west Bloomfield, is the most terrifying hospital I have ever came encounter with. The staff was not helpful at all, in fact the way I was treated made me feel as if I was in a fast food resturant demanding extra sauce for my meal. The unprofessionalism of the entire midnight staff was dehumanizing. I couldn’t believe the way I was spoken to as if I was a stray dog entering someone’s home, it really felt like a movie. The emergency desk receptionist hung up on me multiple times, the security guard obviously didn’t want to be working his shift due to the rolling of his eyes every time I spoke to him, the charge associate hung up on me multiple times. A dramatic incident (non covid related) has happened to my immediate family member and the emotional distress that this hospital has caused for me is not acceptable.

A recent emergency room visit turned into 16 hour nightmare. My husband came in with an uncontrollable cough and shortness of breath. We got there at 11:00 and moved into a room pretty quickly…things went down hill from there. An IV line was put in then the usual questions blood pressure etc. Shortly after a chest X-ray was taken and then we sat until around 2:00. My husband coughing and coughing and struggling to breath. He has COPD…nobody came to check on him and when I ask for some water for him was told no not til the dr saw him and was told to keep the door closed. Dr finally showed but stood in the doorway…never came in to the room…didn’t listen to his chest in fact didn’t even have a stethoscope! Said he would check on lab work andI asked about a breathing treatment! Oh yeah we will do that about an hour later came back and asked if he had leukemia because his blood work…also said blood pressure was so high but didn’t think he was having a heart attack! All this while standing in the doorway! My husband was negative for Covid we were both masked and triple vaccinated. I ask about the breathing treatment…. That finally came at 3:30 after the dr said quote… “.I have really no idea what is wrong with him so he can stay IF HE WANTS to be observed overnight then maybe a pulmonologist can tell him what’s wrong!” He was told he would be put in a room but they kept him on a gurney in the ER all night. Was not given any water or food until ha ask for it at 8:00 the next morning! I guess we were lucky that he wasn’t having a heart attack. We are done with this ER! Just some things to think about!

I will never recommend Henry Ford at west Bloomfield. I got severe leg pain and came to emergency at 1pm and they gave some pain relief pills which is nice but waited me for long time to see Neuro surgeon. Been more than 2 hours and my wife went and asked the nurse who is outside the room and she said if it’s important for him to meet he has to wait. Nurse didn't respond well. I feel they are not taking care of the patients properly, literally I was there for 7hrs and wasn’t even allowed to drink water and they just kept me waiting to see the neurologist for 3hrs. I don’t know why they call it as emergency and it’s much better to go for general one than emergency. I kept Henry Ford as my primary hospital and I visit Henry Ford for any health issue but after this I don’t think I am gonna visit Henry Ford for any of my health issue.

Laila Fawaz

Disgusting customer service. These people lack work ethics & compassion for patients. Waited over an hour for a room while other patients cut in front of me & was told that my condition wasn’t serious enough- throwing up multiple times & passing out in the emergency room- & still nothing from these incompetent workers. Extremely upset that I even wasted my time in coming here. NEVER. AGAIN. ———————— Address my concerns? Why wasn’t that happening during my 2 hour wait at the hospital when I was unconscious & vomiting? Yeah, you people don’t care. This hospital is just as nasty as it’s service ✌????

Oleg Movsesyan

If you can avoid HF West Bloomfield ER, run!!! Don’t walk away, RUN!!! Worse experience ever! Showed up here with stroke-like symptoms over an hour ago. After taking the essential information and making sure INSURANCE IS UP TO DATE, was placed in the waiting room. It’s been 50 minutes, nurse said they are cleaning up rooms, wait will be over an hour. Yes, 50 + min wait (still waiting) with stroke-like symptoms! Asked for something for the pain, response was “we can’t give you anything until doctor sees you….an hour later”. I guess I have to have a heart attack right here to be seen. P.S. Can’t wait for the generic email back saying “we are sorry to hear about your experience…”

My best friend came to this hospital due to covid-19. She was transferred from Wyandotte to the main campus on aug. 10, several days later they put her on the ventilator. They took the tube out of her throat and replaced it with a trach. She came out of sedation and was doing well, until she took a turn and started one infection after another. Also when they first put the trach in, you could visibly see the blood from the where they made the incision, which I don’t believe was supposed to be there. They were supposed to change her trach, but said she was too weak for that. I do believe that is where all these infections came from. Saturday 10/9, the doctors called my godmother and told her that my BFF (her daughter) only had an hour to live. We rushed down to the hospital, only to find out that she was still here and fighting. They did this to us 4 times!!!!! Having us thinking that she was gone, rushing down to the hospital, and she was still here… fighting. Also I have never seen someone’s extremities turn black, both feet were black!!!! I researched this and didn’t find anything! Also, a couple doctors were really trying to convince my godmother to pull the plug when my best friend was still here fighting! And there attitudes were horrible as well, the only truly compassionate ones were the nurses and Dr. Kinney. This was a horrible experience to say the least and would not recommend anyone be treated here. I heard so many horror stories and ended up painfully seeing it for myself. To put the icing on the cake, how dare you call some one and offer an autopsy then call back a short time later and say oh well we can’t do it because your daughter had covid 19. Wow!!!! Also we were not aware that there is a 2 hr time limit to get down to the hospital and see your loved one before they are sent to the morgue. We were robbed of that!!! 65 days in a place like this …. Wow… I’m speechless and I’m DONE!!!!

Cherell Barnes

I will say the physicians tend to be amazing, but the support staff is subpar. Nurses have been brash, receptionists have attitudes. The billing department has been the worst experience I’ve had in terms of customer service. It has been two years and going trying to get my billing straightened out between the Hospital and my (very competent) insurance company. If you don’t mind the billing issue, the doctors could be more than worth the trouble.

Jeanette Osinski

This is the best hospital that I have ever been in. Great doctors, nurses, MA, cleaning staff, food services, etc.... they absolutely are involved in your care and resolving the problems that you are experiencing and keeping you up to date on your health care and what the plan and goals are. I have been here over a week and can't think of 1 complaint. Thanks you Henry Ford West Bloomfield! ????

Belinda Neitzelt

I have had the pleasure of staying with my mother every time I have her transferred from the Saginaw Hospital's there and the care and bedside manner is the BEST hands down that I have EVER witnessed. The CNA on I 5 named Edward Jones has to be THE BEST I have ever seen giving 100% of care on time and helping the family too. He went above and beyond and I am so thankful. Both time's she was a patient there he cared for her. What an outstanding staff!! The Dr's are a team and GREAT at teamwork. You don't get just one Dr you get a whole team!! Henry Ford hospital in Detroit you ROCK

Was decent until after baby. I switched from Beaumont because this was supposed to be the best. It is a beautiful hospital, however the aftercare that I got in the acorn unit after having a c section was miserable. In the first 24 hours I might have been able to get an hour of sleep. It felt like every person there had to come in and bother us about everything. The nurses kept coming in to check vitals and take blood from my sons feet to check his blood sugar. They kept pushing formula for him on me giving me no other options. The lack of sleep and trauma from major surgery had me really on edge and they kept acting like I was being unreasonable as we received visits every hour from one person or another the surgeon, two pediatricians, the woman for ss card and birth cert, the nurses every two hours who couldn't time doing vitals and blood testing at the same time had to do them a half hour apart. The baby photo person etc. Complete circus. Will not be having my next kid there if I can avoid it.

Amy Mckelvey

I had 2 surgeries at once 24 hours ago. Everyone on the staff was AMAZING. This one star is going to my experience about 10 minutes ago. I was having some issues and a lot of difficulty breathing. Couldn't stop hyperventilating, so my mom heard me and woke up. I had her call the on call doctor. The OPERATOR that is working right now 530 am in Detroit, was the rudest most uncomfortable call. You need someone else on these phones when people are calling in due to possible surgery complications. If there is going to be a rude person on the other line, you will lose a lot of patients. Good thing I'm in so much pain or else I would be making a way bigger deal. Now instead of me trying to sleep after being awake for 24 hours, I'm so upset that I'm sitting here writing this horrible review. Someone please fire that lady, or put her as a janitor.

Rick Harris

Very good hospital! Nurses and doctors take very good care of patients. I've had multiple week-long stays over the last few months (unfortunately) and for being in a hospital it's not too bad. Walk-in lab services. Cafeteria, Subway, and Biggby coffee on site.

jeffrey perreault

This place gets sued all the time do to neglected patience they should be shut down or fire the entire place and hire people that want to do their job and that treat people with dignity don't allow people to starve just because they're busy I'm sorry that's your job don't like it get a new one.

Jamal Ali

I am really disappointed that the HFHS doesn't make the process to get tested for COVID easy especially during the time when cases are skyrocketing. Why do I need the doctor's permission to get tested when I can just stop by CVS and get the test easily?

T. Parks

I have mixed feelings about my experience at this hospital. The nurses in labor and delivery were amazing. I would give them 5 stars. When I say amazing words can not express how kind they were to me and my family but I had the worst experience with my doctor. She was the absolute worst and I felt I was just a file # to her. She never even came for my scheduled csection and instead two doctors who I did not know cut me open and was completly not prepared. It took a third doctor to finally get my child out. I had a rough recovery and struggled to get back on my feet. I would never recommend this hospital because how can a doctor schedule surgery and not show up and see you twice while your on bed rest in the hospital for almost 30 days. Just horrible experience!

Alex Kanevsky

Me and my wife visited Labor & Delivery department recently. We waited for 3 hours. That’s insane. But we liked the service itself. Doctors were good

S Atlas

So far the doctors and have been great, my complaint is about the techs who take your vitals and don't sanitize their hands or wear gloves when touching things the doctors need to use for exams. We watched a tech come in our room, not sanitize his hands, touch the keyboard, touch the doorknob several times, then proceed to grab things that would be going in my husband's mouth with his bare hands, setting them on a tray, after fidgeting with the outside of his mask several times. Definitely doesn't feel like COVID is taken seriously in that regard.

Michelle Schmidt

We love our Henry Ford doctors. I feel that my parents are getting excellent care so far. This review is 100% about trying to get an appointment. I was on hold, 36 min to get through on the appointment line to make an appointment for my dad. I also needed to make an appointment for my mom so I asked to be transferred hoping it would mean that I wouldn't have to wait. Sadly, I waited another 45 minutes only to find out they transferred me to the wrong hospital. The only remedy is to hang up and get back in another 45 minute queue. This is typical!! 3 times recently I held 45 min or longer before getting a recording asking if I would like a call back. I tried to choose the option to continue holding only to be DISCONNECTED. Infuriating!!!! I have tried several times to request an appointment via MyChart but no one has EVER responded with an appointment time via that method (they email me the number to call ): This is SO unacceptable. My parents have 8-10 doctors each. Each one requires calling a DIFFERENT number for an appointment. I feel like my new unpaid job is trying to schedule appointments. You cannot get an appointment ANY other way than subjecting yourself to this torture. In May of 2020 I was told it was due to Covid and they were working on fixing it. It is now Feb 2021 and they have gotten worse, not better. If I had known this when we joined the Henry Ford system I would have signed my parents up with Beaumont.

Rob Arambasich

First off I will say that *most of the doctors have been very good. There are major problems in communication in this facility. Whether contacting someone by phone or using the "mychart" system my messages are frequently not responded to. From my recent communications with the hospital right now I feel ignored, disrespected, and not only are they unconcerned about my health but are entirely uninterested in providing me care. The attitude seems to be "If you don't like it go somewhere else." Accordingly I have an appointment at U-M in a couple weeks. Update: Made an appointment with a different doctor and they cancelled my existing appointment. Two hours later they call me and cancel my new appointment. Now I have no appointments! Thanks Henry Ford, your incompetence is limitless. 3/20/17

Kelly Ford

I’ve given birth here twice, will be doing it again this July. Nurses were great, Dr. Capilli is my favorite OB I’ve ever seen. The suites are nice- I particularly love the tub! The hospital is more like a hotel and I love that.

Arykah Martinez

Was sent by another hospital due to needing to be seen by specialists. I arrived a little after 3 am they threw me in a wheelchair shoved me in some little space with no call light or hospitality nothing for 7.5 hours. I was ready to leave AMA, nurses were rude as ever one was even yelling at a patient. I finally got moved and had my call light in for 40 minutes while nurses and staff walk right by and didn’t care. Finally took care of my own and nobody acted like they cared. My iv was leaking fluid AND BLOOD and nobody would help me until I went to the desk to find 3 nurses and a secretary just hanging out sitting around. My iv ended up popping out bc of them. I service I received was extremely terrible. Not only that how can they sit and tell patients the ER has a waiting period of 10 hours. They’re also announcing patients names over the intercom and saying whoever their nurse is please go take care of them. Very unprofessional and rude. One lady threw a paper at my husband and like yelled at him told him to call for my information. People are sitting in a bed with injuries to have to wait hours for medical service. Something needs done. I was mistreated poorly. The security team sucks as well. It took 3 intercom calls for them to do their job and respond. Absolutely ridiculous. I kept getting pushed away and forgot about. Never will I recommend this place. It needs shut down until they can train their workers properly. I am a CNA and a PHLEBOTOMIST once you work in healthcare you answer call lights not ignore them. Very disgusted at the service I received.

LINDA THOMPSON

Horrible!!!!!! I was on hold for over 40 minutes twice today and never spoke to anyone. I am trying to reach the opthalomolgy clinic located on the main campus. HORRIBLE!!!!!!! really do not know the next step. The same time Mon to Fri

Best hospital I have ever stayed at big luxury room with lots of amenities. Food was amazing with lots and lots of options (full menu). Even tho I was on a restricted diet I never felt hungry. The staff was amazing and I never went long without seeing a smiling face. Very professional excellent bedside manner. Spent four days there and received amazing care.

Miss Faith

Gave birth to my daughter in April of 2017 and it was a really smooth experience. I️ was in so much pain screaming for an epidural but the midwives comforted me and encouraged me to push! I️ went from being dilated from 5 cm to 10 cm in 15 minutes! My baby was born in 4 pushes in under 3 minutes. The stay was very comfortable and relaxing! Highly recommend for mothers to be.

Karina N

Customer Service sucks! I tried more than 5 times to have my mammogram appointment. Just one day before my appointment, they called me to tell me that my insurance was not active. I tried to make them understand that I have more than 5 years with the same insurance. My insurance company called them on several occasion and refused to speak with them and did not want to fix the problem they have in their system. They canceled the appointment without my consent. Customer service sucks. I never plan to return to this hospital.

T Rogers

God help us if these are the people left to help our sick. The staff were absolutely vile! They've treated my fiancee and every other patient in the emergency room today like a drug addict or person who is experiencing homelessness. It's sick and disgusting. I listened to conversations around us, as well as the nurses conversation with my loved one and they're so used to working with a certain group of society, they're prejudice. We're here for what may be appendicitis and I'm praying we can possibly make it to Beaumont hospital before they decide to perform surgery.

Brenda Bova (GFSBrenda)

First, the security guard would NOT let us in! We had arrival scheduled at 3:30 AM… she had to make SEVERAL TELEPHONE CALLS BEFORE FINALLY FINDING SOMEBODY TO AGREE TO OUR ADMISSION,! even though I had PRINTED PAPERWORK THAT STATED ARRIVAL TIME!Then this same security guard gave us incorrect directions to surgical waiting and the 4th floor was locked out of the main lobby elevators… I had surgery at 7:30 this morning and still sit in recovery because we were told they DO NOT HAVE A ROOM FOR ME! I complained to “Dr. Lee” about this and he basically told me to just go to HELL! He’s been here 28 hours continually and he’s tired too! I told him that his profession was HIS CHOICE and I have been here 28 HOURS MYSELF… “Yes, but WE’RE HELPING YOU!… besides, he’s getting paid for it… then he started whining about only being paid minimum wage, since he is only a RESIDENT, and that they are SHORT STAFFED… NO WONDER IF THEY REALLY PAY THEIR RESIDENTS MINIMUM WAGE, after under-grad, after grad, after internship! I hope they can teach him bedside manner, since he obviously doesn’t have ANY! The nursing staff here is Superior though and they do seem to go above and beyond

Diane Mason

Jennifer in radiology at the ultra sound department was wonderful. She squeeze me in at the last minute and did a wonderful job and made me feel very comfortable. Thank you Jennifer.

My emergency at the hospital that I experienced in January 2017 is something that has been on my mind ever since then . While my mother was being prepped for an induced coma by 2 male techs , I over heard them saying negative things about her . Apparently they did not know I was waiting outside the closed curtain . I should have reported them , I just hope she didn't here them , I only wished I should have said something then. Even though my mother did not survive , people shouldn't say awful things no matter what the circumstances are.

Denise Denise

THE WORST HOSPITAL. Went to the ER, per the doctor’s instructions. Was asked by the ER doctor, ‘why would she tell you to come here?!’ I was told by two doctors to go the ER. The doctor was mean, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I was racially profiled. I would NEVER recommend this hospital. The ER doctor made me wait hours because he wanted to call my doctor to see if I was lying regarding her telling me to go to the ER. I was told from the ER doctor, ‘I know Dr.... so if she told you to come here, I want to know why. I don’t believe that. So I’ll wait for her to get back from lunch.’ Really!!! You don’t believe my doctor told me to go to the ER. I’m filing a formal complaint!

Linda Valentine

Worst treatment ever for my mother ever should turn it into a veterinarian hospital. This owner didn't even read my review . Worst experience ever at this hospital!! The nurse almost let my mother die choking on her own vomit. She was too busy w paperwork until I started screaming at her.what if I hadn't been there. This is no way to treat a beautiful older woman, no way to treat any human being. I dont want to hear understaffed, covid , etc. These are not my problems or concerns. I wanted the best care for my mom and didn't get it. On every level. Beaumont manages to get it right in spite of covid. Your hospital is all glitz and glamor no substance!

kelli radtke

What an absolute disgrace the observation hall is. 2 people shoved into rooms meant for one. You can't even fit a wheelchair in. The nurses aren't even bright enough to turn their tables so they don't bang into your bed everytimr they walk in the tiny rooms. 3 gastroenterologists couldn't even decide how to treat me and when I'd had enough and asked to be released, they were snotty, I wouldn't trust these people to take care of my dog! Will be filing a complaint with the state of Michigan as well as meeting with y senator to discuss the incompetence and safety victims I witnessed in my very short stay.

Divya pillai

I visited the ER last month. My experience with the doctor and nurses was very good. Since no one was allowed to accompany me due to covid restrictions I was a bit jittery, the nurses were kind and calmed me. After the tests, the doctor got straight to the point with my diagnosis and also supported me with a positive pep talk. I am thankful coz that’s what I needed that moment.

Michelle

go to another hospital!!! they aren't equipt to do all you need here!!!! I WOULD GIVE A ZERO IFI COULD!!!! My daughter came into ER Tuesday 9/18 severe abdominal pain throwing up. bilirubin and white blood cells are high. urine is reddish brown. blood work and other tests show gallbladder. mri requested at 5pm. admitted and finally a room after 8 hours in ER. then Waiting on GI. GI cancelled mri. nurse thought it was a mistake. nope GI canceled. next day rescheduled but only appt available was for 11PM. then they moved it to 12Am. then 1AM. finally Thursday 2AM the mri was performed. waiting another day for results and to find out when they will be taking her gallbladder out. she felt better had one meal and they discharged her on friday and told her to call and schedule gallbladder surgery and not to put it off. well.... two days later....9/23 we are back in ER. now pancreas enzymes are 7700. was told GI would come see us. Nope! didn't see them! now she's admitted and GI is supposed to come see her in the room.. nope... its sunday after 5PM. we were told everyone went home! today... another test they want to do ERCP but they would need to drive her to detroit to have it done and bring her back!!!! WHAT!!!! and this wasn't mentioned in ER or the week before we were here when they wanted to do it! this is not a patient friendly hospital! but i guess the shops are nice for the guests and employees. this place falls short on patient care! WE WILL NEVER BE BACK AND WILL STAY AWAY FROM HENRY FORD AFFILIATED PLACES!!! NO I WON'T FILL OUT A FORM AT YOUR LINK AND NO APOLOGY NOW WILL HELP!!! just heed my advice!!!

Elisa

My 90 y/o dad was in ICU for two weeks...NOT covid. Thankfully one family member was allowed in everyday (from morning until night) - otherwise my dad would NOT have made it out alive. The nurses are completely incompetent!! If you have an injury that would land you in the ICU - DO NOT go to this hospital!! In response to your response: We already spent an hour with the patient care experience team. Hoping they actually address all of our concerns. My dad loved being a volunteer at HFWB for over 10 years (which ended with the covid outbreak) he (we) trusted your staff to take good care of him and you did quite the opposite!

Yousef Alshahrani

Don’t even think to come to ER Patient in hallway, I just had Endoscopy in the hallway next to emergency exit !!!!!!!!!! After my endoscopy I have been witting more than 1.5 hours for doctor to see me,

This review is only for the ultrasound department. On May 14 I was scheduled for ultrasound. Unfortunately I locked my keys in the car and had to wait for the Bloomfield Hills police to come. I told the receptionist in ultrasound and she told me to come back when the car was unlocked. I did this and offered to reschedule as this was my fault. Rather I was taken back by the tech (I did not get her name and she did not introduce herself or have name tag)who began to berate me: I missed half of my appointment, why didn't I notify someone (I had), why didn't I answer my phone (it was in the car), why didn't I leave the car and take care of it later (I was not leaving my purse/keys in full view), and so on. I offered many times to reschedule and was told just to get it over with. I certainly did not need to be treated as a naughty child. The ultrasound was done. Customer service, caring and being pleasant should be part of the job.

Debbie Smith

Pre-op staff was fantastic. Floor nurses were also fantastic. Nurses aide staff on the floor were horrible! Never received towels, wash cloths, soap, or assistances getting washed up, or brush my teeth. I needed help getting up, I was very weak and needed to sit at the sink to wash up. Bedding was never changed or at least straighten up. Housekeeping was non existent. The nurses aide when discharged was the rudest person ever.

Shamim Khan

Had an appointment at 3PM today. Waited till 4PM and left without seeing the doctor. This is ridiculous, do a better job.at scheduling patients.

Manpreet Gill

Original Review: The worse experience ever at the ER And the issue is NOT DUE to overcrowding of ER DUE TO COVID. Checked in around 12 noon. The doctor came a talked to me for 30 seconds. She said the MRI will take a while and I said yes thinking it would be 3-4 hours. Few hours later I found out it will be at 12 MIDNIGHT. in the meantime the nurse who showed up Once told me I cannot even drink water until the MRI is done. Not even sure if that’s true. My IV ran out - no one came to check it for hours . FINALLY I DECIDED TO WALK OUT OF THERE

Shyana Price

This is based on security… ????????‍♀️ they will make you walking around to the main entrance even if you aren’t supposed to be there. I couldn’t see my husband due to this bull.

Tracy Lewis

This Review is about my GYN Dr. Samah Arsanious, she was/is Outstanding! My procedure and my care was exceptional. I appreciate her kindness and her professionalism as a physician and I highly recommend her.

I'm in the hospital now for a back surgery. The surgery went find I guess, but everything else is terrible. They stuffed me in a room that is actually made fo one person. It's hot and I'm sweating like a dog. I'm in extreme pain and they gave medications for a headache or toothache. Most of the staff is friendly but there's one or that just evil. If my employer did force me to utilize this hospital, I never would. Henry Ford hospital main campus is old and ran like we are in the 1950's.

Michael Horne

Hello, I had major surgery on January the 10th, 2022. I am so grateful for Henry Ford Hospital. They saved my life. Everyone was extremely kind to me. They took excellent care of me. Thx Henry Ford.

The worst hospital I've been to. Some of the most insensitive nurses/staff, it's mindboggling. What kind of training do these people get to deal with the families of the sick loved ones? How about just being kind. I hope they never experience the pain of someone being in critical care, wondering how long you should keep them hooked up to a machine. Its natural to ask questions and want updates when you have a loved one that's extremely sick. My family and I have been reasonable and respectful. But certain staff have made us feel like we are a bother. Whispering, eye rolling when I approached to ask a question. And a couple of times contradicting information was given. Or information given wrong because they didn't look at the chart first. It's like ( I really don't know for sure but im not humble enough to say let me check on that. Instead I'll talk a lot and use big words so you think I know what I'm talking about.) At one point even refusing to let myself and one other family member, who lived with our loved one, visit because it was "after hours". Since we lived far we asked if the other member could sit in the waiting room and we could take turns. They said (no tell them only one can come up and send the other one home.) The policy is only one person. Really? Even the receptionist said she was being very snippy with her. And she didn't know why she was being this way. Finally after begging the head nurse, she said one family member can stay downstairs in the lobby and you can take turns. But when I came up to the waiting room why did i see a couple sitting there together. People why are you here? Is it because you REALLY want to help people? Because you have fellow feeling? You care about the families that are suffering? Or Because you want the money? And what's so scary is that many are so young. What will they be like years later when circumstances aren't so new and fresh? Hopefully they won't become even more desensitized. I had heard things about this hospital before. Now I have seen it with my own eyes. And I am letting my family know that if something happens to me and they have an option, please don't let me go to Ford hospital in Detroit. All this being said there were a hand full who were very kind and patient. Unfortunately though the majority overruled and overall this has been a disappointing experience.

Allyn Campbell

Horrible experience in the ER. My daughter was put in the hallway. When I asked about putting her in a room the nurse informed me that there were no available rooms yet a room right next to us was vacant for an hour. I did point this out and still was told there were not rooms available. My daughter had a severe migraine and she had to endure the harsh overhead lights, really loud TV volume from one of the rooms and having gurney's being squeezed by her incessantly. She was not given anything for her migraine until about 2 hours after she was put in the hallway. Can't imagine how awful it was for her. I was not even able to sit next to her, but had to put my chair (at least they supplied that) at the head of the bed so people /gurneys could get by. She was never offered water or even a blanket. I personally think she was treated the way she was because of her insurance. She has Tricare - her husband is in the military - and I am sure it doesn't contractually pay as much as "regular" insurance so it was monetarily beneficial to put someone else in the room. What was even worse when I went to use the restroom they actually had an elderly lady in a "hallway bed" right across from the restroom door - how gross and disgusting. I can't even believe the hospital would do that. The only plus to the situation was the staff was pleasant, but they were definately understaffed.

Traci Bledsoe

My mother was discharged on Thursday 8/9/18 with "nothing wrong and no infection". Friday I had to call 911 because she was in septic shock. The local hospital had to work fast to save her life. So Henry Ford didn't see that??? All of her blood came back negative? No, not when the very next day she almost lost her life!!! I called the patient advocate and they won't even return my call!! If I could give this hospital a lower rating than 1 star, I would.

Amber Williams

Had a pretty rough labor and delivery back in October but the nurses were phenomenal. The nurse Amber that I had stuck out the most for me. She was truly a gem. I had to be induced and the pain was unbearable up until I had my epidural. Amber kept me calm and was so comforting. She was so genuine and exactly what I needed in a labor and delivery nurse. So thank you Amber. Just wanted to pass this along. Overall my experience was not the best and was nothing that I envisioned for giving birth to my babygirl. However she’s here, beautiful and healthy and I’m so appreciative of that.

Luann Brown

My husband is in Henry Ford downtown right now for fractured hip & elbow. He has had excellent care with all of his Doctors, nurses, PT, OT, Social worker and aids. I would like to name all of them, but everyone has been excellent. I really don't understand why people have given a bad review. We have had excellent care ❤ ???? and we both are very happy with the staff here

lynn vaught

The short stay unit was horrible. Couldn't order any food. Only thing you can eat was whatever they had stocked on that floor. It wasn't the greatest choice to Choose from it was nasty.

Donna Fladger

I transferred hospitals from Kalamazoo, Mi to HFH West Bloomfield Dr. Robert M. Elkus MD was the General Surgeon I happily chose to perform my surgery . This was the best decision I could have made for myself. He and his staff were absolutely amazing. From the receptionist, his RN on staff Susie, who also happens to be picture framed as Employee of the year. I definitely agree. Everyone was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Each person reiterated before and after care personally to ensure the procedure was a complete comfortable success. My pain was minimal. I had barely noticeable scarring. The stay in the hospital was as comfortable as being at home. As each of my many family members, friends and fiancé were all welcomed and treated like family. My room was personal and beautiful. It was the best experience I was hoping to find after the news of needing a surgery. I rate them 5 plus stars. I highly recommend this hospital for any healthcare needs including nutrition.

E. B. Snodgrass

It was a little bit of a drive, but you can have medical tests done on the weekend so you don't have to miss work. The gift shop was the largest and best stocked I have ever seen and I have been in too many hospitals in my life.

Ethan Sargent

Father was admitted and was left unfed and unmedicated for 30+ straight hours and was not even given water for the first 24. When I called to see if he had been fed, because he is already highly malnourished, I was given the run around on the phone and spoken too rudely from start to end. They seriously need to brush up on their phone educate.

The last place to go. I went to Henry Ford for one reason. They said they could do ablation to treat my cancer. They did everything to avoid this treatment. Almost killed me with chemo and on my second treatment I watched a lady die. They announced a time of death and a nurse said she didn't make it. Good thing I was in such poor health from the first treatment that I couldn't do the second. They said my cancer was to small to do anything we have to wait. The next pet scan They tell me now it's spread to far all they can offer is chemo. Thousands of dollars in bills have been sent to collections for everything but what I went there for. Henry Ford is a scam and if you want to live go elsewhere. Don't let them tell you they can do a treatment only to get everything they can from you, than say it's to late. I now suffer from noropathy from the chemo just another slap in the face from Henry Ford.

Henry ford hospital has some of the most amazing orthopedics, Dr. Devynn and Dr. Taliaferro were able to care for me and give me a life changing surgery to get rid of my back pain. Their first option was never surgery, it was actually their last option, but it had to be done because of the circumstances of my pain. Now, I am more that grateful to be in a position were I can live without pack pain. If anyone is in the situation where back pain is the problem , I would highly suggest going to see these two, they understand that surgery is a big step so they will provide alternatives before ever getting to that phase.

Went to the e.r. for a work injury. The basically forgot I was there. I went to the bathroom after an hour of waiting in my bed not seeing anyone. I checked my myvhart account and it had discharge instructions. I literally seen nobody. Worst hospital. So I got up and walked out. I usually go to the henry fords with my mychart for the past 15 years living in michigan. I think its time to switch to Beaumont. Also just read another review where another person sat there. Nothing done and walked out like me. I will never be back here again

My mother who is 92 with Alzheimer’s was in emergency due to a fall. She wasn’t hurt from the fall but the Dr found she had a UTI and was transferred to Observation room where she stayed 2 nights. When they transferred her by ambulance back to her assisted living facility, instead of dressing her they sent her in a hospital gown that was open with a soiled diaper that was half off. How they could let her leave the hospital like that is unbelievable. If you don’t want your loved ones treated like trash don’t go to this facility.

Very impressed with the organization for the COVID shots. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Your team made it very easy once I got the appointment. Thank you, thank you!!! To the person who complained about getting an appointment..... when you log in to “my chart” click on the “visits” button on that page, then click on “schedule appointment”, then select “COVID vaccine”, then answer a few questions. That should take you where you need to be. I didn’t know to do that for a week...once I did that some times were available. You may have to check it it out multiple times .

Worst hospital ever… no compassion what so ever.. must hire anybody????????‍♀️ Mom was very ill .. got talked to like we were not valued getting checked in.. no one greeted us .. restrictions are back like it’s 2020 and they’re still acting like covid is the only thing that can kill you.. was told wait was 3-6 hours after being there an hour..???? due to short staff.. well maybe If you’ll didn’t fire everybody for not being vaxed you would have workers

If there were a 0/5 review i would give that. Don't go to this ER for chest pain unless you want to be dead. My husband walks in here with complaints of chest pain late at night with complaints of chest pain radiating to his left arm for a few hours. They took nearly 15-20 minutes to see him and much longer to take his first BP!! and we are talking chest pain here! Then comes in the doctor atleast 20-25 mins later who doesn't even bother touching him to complete an evaluation. Says he's alright and sends him home... A tech can run the entire hospital if Doctors and Nurses are so stuck up that they refuse to touch, feel and examine patients. For something so worrisome, such callous attitude on the part of the hospital, Very dissapointing. I don't feel safe being in their care. Have changed Medical providers!

I was billed in March 2021 for service in June of 2019. I have been trying to work with the financial aid department since March of 2021, it is now almost November of 2021. I understand that things are crazy, but they are completely not responsive to communications I have sent, and when I try to call I end up on hold and no one ever answers the phone. I have not received any information from their team regarding the status of my application. No one wants to have to apply for financial aid, and HFHS has made this process an absolute nightmare. I have been a patient at Henry Ford for 15 years, but unfortunately I will not be returning due to lack of accountability and responsiveness, it is completely unprofessional.

Jana Al-Jarrah

Wow nurses were unbelievable. Honestly want to take them home with me because of how amazing and empathetic they were. UNREAL service is not saying enough. They knew what I wanted before I even knew what I wanted. Will definitely be back should I have any other medical needs. My father had gallbladder removal surgery and the med surge unit was one of the best Ive seen in Michigan.

This is the most unfriendly and uncaring emergency room I have ever been to in my life! I was treated so poorly by staff and the doctor! I would advise anyone if they can to choose a different emergency room! There was one RN that was exceptional but the doctor and nursing staff was terrible and I have been in the Henry Ford system since I was 6 years old!

Good evening, i am in the hospital now at main campus. My nurses on B5 and other staff have been amazing. They have been the most caring group of people to work with. Know the hand them Dr's have been a mother. How do you say what you are going to do with someone and never examine them. Then how do you tell me what i need and this is not my first time i have been in the hospital for this problem. I am telling you what helps and you telling me its not. I have never been so disappointed in a group of Dr's as i have been in this hospital stay.

I’ve had my two babies at Henry Ford in the past , I absolutely loved everything and everyone that was involved . Nurses were amazing at the time! But with the last baby, i totally lost my faith in Henry Ford . All the way from labor till the moment I walked out with my baby. I cried cause I wanted to leave a few hours after delivery. I hated the way they treated me! Rude nurses on that floor they were careless unhelpful and on top of that they wasn’t really professional. I left that day carrying my baby just trying to leave as fast as I can . They are very quick to tell u things u can’t do but barely will answer or complete any work tasks that has to do with the patient . They poked my baby time and time again and their excuse was they need more blood to run more tests, when really it was cause they never sent the blood on time and it clotted. I know cause I am a health professional myself just never mentioned it. And while I was leaving a very nice M.A confirmed it. No remorse given about what they put u through. I asked for a pillow twice never got it I asked for pain meds (Motrin) I waited hours for it. And on top of that they don’t allow u to order from the menu they give u. U get what they bring and that’s it even if it’s pork! After telling them I don’t eat pork. When after given birth u get so hungry and tired nd since I didn’t have family around i literally starved till I left the hospital. Thinking I will be taken care of just like the last two times. I really hope Henry Ford comes back to how they was. It was always my go to hospital. It’s sad to see it do so bad now!

I have to say this has been a very poor experience compared to other hospitals we have been to for similar situations. Nearly every negative aspect of our experience relates to “follow up” and actually giving a dam about their jobs. If I did my job 1/2 as poorly as most of the techs and RN’s, I would be fired on the spot. The relatively nice attitude is the only reason why I didn’t rate it one star. I bet they won’t delay in sending the bills.

I have never been mistreated this badly by another human being in my life. Apparently COVID 19 is a catch all excuse for people to mistreat one another. I went to the hospital to consult with a pain specialist. I was refused my appointment because I had my infant child with me. They said children are not allowed in the exam rooms unless they are the patient. I then decided I would reschedule. Then I asked if I could sit in the waiting room for a moment to feed my screaming 12 week old. They told me no, and that I needed to leave with my baby. How on earth can anyone working in the medical community be so callous? These are the same people walking around making sure everyone knows what a hero they are. In my opinion someone lacking basic human compassion should not be allowed to work with people. I might just have to find an entirely new health system too take care of my medical needs.

Best hospital in the world donated 65% of my liver to save my sisters life and was treated like a king.

Hanine Haidar

I loved this hospital and the nurses are very friendly. However I had an issue and they told me to call the hospital to check my documents, so I called and was transferred to the right person. Today when I wanted to call back to that person who can help me, the receptionist assumed that the hospital can't help me and hanged up.That was really impolite

My father was recently admitted to thr garden chestnut step down unit. He was there 25 days before being transferred. Both my father and myself were treated with the highest levels of care and compassion. It was so hard not being able to be there with him, but knowing that he was being cared for by the staff there eases a lot of anxiety. Thank you so much to all involved in his care. I can only hope that the facility he was transferred to is as good. They have big shoes to fill!

I recently had my MRI in here on 10th oct they took utmost care of my needs and comfort the staffs there were very friendly and spontaneous and those who did the scan was constantly monitoring my health and comfort thru a headph they provided inside the machine

I would never go to this hospital again in my life. I was discriminated against by two specific women doctors. I was left brutalized with bruises, a name that was tarnished, and a medical record that must be amended because of these women. The falsified incorrect information from these doctors and the standard of care here is an absolute disgrace.

Case manager, Aya, actually suggested my 91 year old father sleep on a mattress on the floor at home! I made it known from day one and several times over that we needed discharge planning. He was in for 4 days. She walked into his room at 4:50 pm on the Friday he was discharged. She had no concern for his safety or comfort at home. Suggestion waS made that we stop on our hour long ride home with him and buy a bed. Did she think the a furniture store made stat. Friday night deliveries. She did not care that he would have 13 stairs to climb up and come down at home. I could go on and on. She wanted to get out of there on a Friday and to hell with us. And she did leave! The nursing staff was great. The residents were July green with no experience. The doctor came once and sent a Senior Fellow when we became frustrated and wanted more communication. But the Fellow was good. One star due to NO DISCHARGE PLANNING AND UNCARING CASE MANAGER/SOCIAL WORKER. Shame on Aya!

My aunt and I took my mom to HF in WB ER tonight for a deep, open laceration and fracture to her nose and lac to her forehead after falling. Asked for help multiple times after 2.5 hours of waiting just to get the wound irrigated. It was filled with road debris and her nose was filled with blood that was now dry. Techs can irrigate wounds and yet nurse Kim couldn’t be bothered to clean it. She wasn’t too busy to be eating chips at the nurse’s station though. Any member of the healthcare team is qualified to irrigate a wound. Nurse Kim just kept repeating that a doctor had to see it. Not true. I’m in healthcare. It’s not appropriate patient care or wound triage. So I asked for supplies from a nurse in the hall to do it myself with my own bottled water. Also grabbed an empty 10ml syringe and gauze from the cart in the room and that prompted nurse Kim to call security to escort me out. Should I have a used the syringe and gauze from the cart without specifically asking… maybe not? But if basic care was provided from a nurse who was seated across from our room for at least 2 hours, I wouldn’t have felt like I had to do it myself. I was advocating for basic care, frustrated, and just wanted my mom to avoid further discomfort and potential infection. HF WB is not ER care on any level. Waiting for a doc to suture is fine. But not irrigating a wound on arrival or for even hours isn’t acceptable. My mom also wasn’t placed on a monitor for almost an hour after being roomed. No neuro checks. This a patient who had loss of consciousness after a fall with nasal fracture. After being escorted out, I called another family member to replace me. Security and charge nurse Mike would not allow her in because it violated their visitor policy. So again, my mom who had loss of consciousness after a fall is now alone in a room when there is no family who can advocate, fill in details, and ensure proper care. To top it off, the physician used a 4-0 suture for her FACE!!! Even after my mom expressed concerned about scarring. This is basic healing 101 and a normal standard of care that facial sutures require 6-0 to avoid massive scarring from a large needle and suture. Failure on multiple levels.

Such a bad experience. I asked a nurse if they could please quiet down in the hallway. It was the middle of the night and the staff was talking very loud and laughing. They were talking about stuff that had nothing to do with Patient care. It was 3am and the noise went on all night. The nurses response was “It’s a hospital, get used to it”. In other words if you’re admitted be prepared to not sleep. It’s party time for the midnight shift. HF appears to be falling in the ranks for best hospitals. This isn’t surprising.

ER Review **My review is based on my visit yesterday during the day. My review is specific to my general care, knowledge base of the doctor that cared for me - he continuously would say "I don't know", and waiting time. **this review is not a reflection of my initial nurse care (I think the nurse that helped me was done with his shift during my stay) or the techniques of my ultrasound technician. Yesterday I spent 58-60 min in the waiting room in the ER - checked in at 2:13pm and didn't leave until after 7pm. I was reluctant to go to any ER because I am never sick but I have missed 3 days of work because of severe abdominal pain. Before considering the ER I called many GI doctors but many were booked months out. I decided to go to urgent care first and the doctor told me to go to the ER because he could not help me. When I went to the Henry Ford WB ER my pain level was 9 and I could not drive myself so my parent drove me. I was registered immediately but was told they were busy. No one came up to me (or others) to see how I was feeling or tell me when a room would be available. When I did get taken back to the ER there were no rooms and I was LEFT IN THE OPEN NEXT TO A BATHROOM and by a custodial cart. Reminder my pain level was a 9. A supposed doctor came up to me with a scrap piece of paper and asked me what was wrong and he scribbled some notes. A nurse (my initial nurse) did come to see me about taking blood, which he did, and needed to give me an EKG. Umm not in the open, by the bathroom! So we waited and he agreed. I was finally given a room, given some drink to numb my abdominal region, sent to an ultrasound. This all occurred in the first couple hours when I actually entered the ER area. The DOCTOR IN QUESTION we are releasing you now - What?? I haven't seen you for hours. Also I haven't seen anyone in my room for at least a couple hours so I had to peak out my door and grab someone. I was very dehydrated and needed a drink. I did not have an IV. SHORT Conclusion - you need to see a GI doctor and your ultrasound looks good (did you look at my ultrasound because I don't trust you). So why aren't you getting me in to see a GI doctor?? Why did I have a fever? Doctor - "I don't know." I think you might have an ulcer or inflammation so without seeing a GI doctor I don't know??? Okay why are you not calling a GI doctor now or giving me a name for a GI doctor in my plan?? My CONCLUSION - I will not go back to HF ER. This is why insurance is expensive! Patients do not get clear answers and get numerous tests that really do not get results. I could have self diagnosed and guessed like my DOCTOR IN QUESTION that I might have an ulcer or inflammation. He said I don't know so many times I should have given him my anatomy book that I give my students :(( Why give me an ultrasound if it is not a clear conclusion?? If a GI doctor is the only one who could give me a true conclusion why are we spending money on inconclusive tests? Final statement from the doctor, "If you don't feel well make sure you return to the doctor." Ha my pain was a 9 and I really haven't eaten for 3 days, but when I don't feel well I am sure to come back to the doctor based on your recommendation. **This is the first review I have ever felt compelled to write** Sad day for me I guess in the ER. At some point I will see a GI doctor (my appt is a month away).

Horrible experience. Went to get a CT scan then had to go to the ER. I was literally lied to by several medical professionals, the worst of which was the ER surgeon. He said I needed an emergency appendectomy. He abruptly changed his mind (AND the diagnosis!) when I mentioned getting a 2nd opinion. I have a witness, fortunately. Stay out of the ER - unless you enjoy being lied to, receiving poor/untrustworthy/inconsistent medical care/advice, or waiting for HOURS to be released after you've been told you're being sent home. It's a shame because I had minor surgeries there a few years ago, and a test last year, and they were very good experiences. PS I have the best medical insurance you can buy in Michigan, so insurance was not an issue. (Then again, maybe it was. I felt like I had a price tag on my head, along with a sign "Pick me for an unnecessary surgery, my insurance will pay for it"! Good thing I have another sign which reads "Wasn't born yesterday".) Beware.

I had another excellent experience at this location in Optimeyes. Dr. Humes was very thorough, pleasant and very professional. All the staff were very helpful especially the office manager, Joyce. Joyce is like a rare gem. She has the right personality for what she does. Joyce assisted me in ordering my glasses. She was interrupted several times but she remained calm, pleasant and professional. She helped other customers while she assisted me. She was not impatient or unpleasant. She should be commended and rewarded in some tangible way for all she does.

I just picked up my dad from this hospital 10/15/21. He was in the ER at Cottage hospital yesterday and had to be transferred to Henry Ford main for more tests. He was in room 101 B. After getting admitted, his nurse informed him that another patient was going to be admitted to his room. He verbalized his concerns about being in the same room with another patient. Although fully vaccinated for Covid 19, he has a long history that puts him in a high risk category. He also has anxiety being close to people in public spaces. The doctor who saw him yesterday and staff on midnights obliged and blocked the room. After shift change this morning, a patient was placed in the same room as my dad. I am a nurse, my dad was a nurse for 37 years. We understand the need for beds especially at unprecedented times such as this. I am writing because I feel the situation could have been handled better. I am also writing this knowing full well the unit could have been short staffed or having issues that all hospitals are experiencing due to a pandemic. This may not even be a complaint. Just a plea for everyone to take a breath and choose to do better. Fill someone’s bucket, instead of dipping someone’s bucket. All my dad wanted was to wait for the cardiac team to round on him in a not too enclosed space with someone else. Was this such an unreasonable request? His nurse Nicole was nice enough to offer him a chair in the hallway. But the unit manager was speaking on behalf of the doctors saying, “They will not see you in the hallway.” If my dad was not causing any disruptions in the hallway and the doctors came, he would have been fine to go in a room to discuss his care. I know it’s much easier to hand someone an AMA paper but so much resources were wasted right there. Now he has to go to another ER and have tests done over again. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference to patients. Like listening to their concerns, allowing them to vent so maybe some situations don’t end up the way they do. I know nurses have it hard lately. I know because a lot in our family are nurses. But you gotta check your attitude at the door. And practice self care so when you’re at work you are doing your best to do no harm.

This health system is the worst. I went to the ER downtown today and had the worst experience. The CSR at the desk and MA were rude and definitely do not know customer service or basic RESPECT for patients — or people in general. Not to mention, the clinic is filthy - somebody needs to call CMS and the joint commission and shut this health “care” organization down. I proceeded with care at another ER and the staff was much better - atleast they acknowledged me and my husband, instead of ignoring us for 15 minutes.

Nursing staff and the doctors have been very friendly to my mom and her family for the week she has been there! But.... the dietary department has really sucked! It took over an hour and half for soup one day and then she wasn't hungry, the lady said it wouldn't be long! Really? Then she ordered spaghetti the next day and just got noodles without the meat sauce! Really? She was on a regular diet! They have poor communication with nursing staff! Then waited for lunch over 2 hours the next day. When calling the kitchen they said she didn't order! Two minutes later she got her lunch ! No communication! Dietary has not done their job and it makes the hospital have poor ratings!

I don’t write reviews often, but I think it’s only fair to the excellent care I had received on 9/24/21 if I would share my experience. It’s my first time receiving care at the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, and as always I looked up Google reviews to check out other people’s experience. I was appalled at the horrible negative comments. Being a healthcare worker myself, I could not imagine not being helpful and compassionate when delivering care to patients, so I reported to the Intervention Radiology department with quite a bit of anxiety, especially since the procedure I needed was new to me. Well, I was blessed by a 10-star team!! I was greeted by Jen who immediately eased my nervousness with her warm, professional care to get me prepped. Cynthia did my IV nicely at just one attempt which I know my fine veins could be a challenge to many. Dr Winkler has excellent bedside manners. Not only did she explain my procedure in details and answered all my questions, she did so with such warm smiles I could see them through her mask. Most importantly, she completed my procedure in such an efficient and superb manner I was honestly pain free the whole time and pleasantly surprised it ended before I knew it. Her assistants Tatiana, Donna & Chris also took great care of me and helped me got as comfortable as I could. Last but not least, Kecia and Vennie took great care of me post procedure to make sure I was safe and well all the way until I got into my husband’s car to leave. THANK YOU, the healthcare team at Intervention Radiology, from the bottom of my heart!! May you all continue to touch lives and bless many under your exceptional care!

The absolute worst emergency room I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. I took my 3 year old son in to the ER because both of eyes eyes were severely swollen, draining, and red. My son didn’t even look like himself anymore. That’s how bad it was. So we get to the ER and they had us sit in the hallway because all of the rooms were full. We were sitting literally right next door to the single bathroom open to all emergency room patients. As I sat right next to the bathroom door with my 3 year old toddler, endless sick patients are walking in and out of the bathroom. The odor? Disgusting. The view? Terrible. I asked the nurse how long it would be to see a doctor and she said “at least 4 hours. We don’t consider your case an emergency. Your more then welcome to leave if you like” You bet I LEFT! And I’ll never ever go back there again. Shame on you.
