I just want to say I love Harper Hospital! I never want to go to DHR again...Harper got me in and out in a timely fashion and my issue was resolved. I would suggest if you have to go to ER then go into Harper Hospital...they truly take care of you
Emergency department is good and you don't have to wait forever
tried to call them on the web the (888) prefix and it i a sales and marketing group .
The DMC sports medicine is very unprofessional donot return phone calls do not have a heart. I understand people are busy, but 3 weeks to call me not fair. Also I would rather be in a third world country. It's all about money, but they are in a great place Detroit.
Charged me and my insurance out the nose for a sleepstudy with little to k ow communication and no results. Nearly a year later no results or communication. All I have to show for my bill is the bill. I will never return to this hospital.
The ICU staff went on and beyond the call of duty to keep my wife calm even after she was screaming and yelling at them. They showed tremendous restraint. True professionals.
Doctor was rough staff was terrible a staff member actually said she didn't care about.me because i was the one sick not her wow i walked out un cured i would suggest nobody go to this hospital
My baby was sick and they fixed her right up
I went through emergency several nights ago , just wasn't feel well . The doctors and supportive staff was very kind. They got me feeling better and I am very grateful . ....
DMC's service has really taken a steep fall over the years. Took my pregnant family member to the ER here a few weeks ago, someone who doesn't speak English at all, and not once did they call for a translator to help her. I had to wait in the ER which is understandable for COVID reasons. However they did not do any tests on her nor did they do a thorough assessment on her despite the OB-GYN's order. All they did was a visual and verbal examination and kept her there for over 3 hours for this. I had to be on the phone after they wouldn't get her a translator. She was discharged without any advice and I had to ask the nurse questions that she was giving blunt answers to. I am a nursing student who has worked with the staff at DMC and other hospitals before, this is not how a service should be. Not only that, no one would explain directions for my pregnant aunt to get back to the ER or Main Lobby, nor would anyone escort her there. DMC has patient transports, where were they in the middle of the day?? She was barely able to walk at the time too. I had to remember what the floors looked like and somehow guide my aunt over the phone to get her back to the main lobby from the top floors. I ended up switching her to a Beaumont facility, sure it may be a little far from us but it's worth it. From the beginning they did everything they could to provide her the right and proper care that was overlooked at DMC.
My husband went to Harper for heart catharization after a heart attack. As vegans, we were appalled at a menu that did not reflect a "heart healthy" diet. Plant based choices were few and far between and only available on the posters telling patients that they should choose fruits, veges and whole grains. The first night there, he ate a pile of refined pasta and a can of green beans. The Wendy's downstairs seemed to contradict the whole concept of a mecca of heart health.
My brother had his first here and the staff was over beyond helpful and understanding. Rooms are clean, however the air wasn't working when I was there so it was extremely hot. My car was parked in valet for 5 days. When I finally got my car, my passenger handle was broke. Had to file a claim to get my door fixed. Very unprofessional for staff to mishandle my car in such a way
Was here with my husband for a few days and felt extremely well cared for from the ladies who received us in at the ER to the transport who helped us to a whole different building (we parked in the wrong place) when he was discharged. We're blessed to have had few medical issues in our life, so in a stressful and unfamiliar situation, the Neuro staff in Webber 4 was INCREDIBLE. Nurses, Residents, security, food-delivery, lab techs, EVERYONE on deck was very sweet, friendly and great about answering questions and helping us understand the process, and also share some more casual conversation with us to get our minds of the situation. Hospitals are inherently stressful and I can't imagine what everyone has to go through on a daily basis. Yes, occasionally wait times were a bit long, but keep in mind where you're at and all of the other people who need help, too. We never felt forgotten or uncared for- and we know that's not always the case! Would recommend Harper to friends in an instant.
Very nice place to go and it's waiting time is very low. Staff and doctors are very nice.I Recommend everyone to go.
They are slow with everything they do
This hospital has been taking good care of my family for many years. The nurses are warm and caring and the doctors are top-notch.
This hospital and all the people we interacted with throughout our surgery experience were absolutely top shelf. We traveled from out of state for an exceptional surgeon here (Dr. Guthikonda) and without exception everyone, from reception, nursing, support staff, residents and surgeons were amazingly skilled, on top of everything and absolutely delightful to be around. We could not have had a better experience.
I beg of you, DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY SEEING YOUR LOVED ONE ABUSED!!! IF I could rate this 0 stars, I would. Bruises, unsanitary, staff knowing next to nothing about patients, take your pick, they are doing this. About 40% of all chatter I hear from these "professionals" are not even pertaining to their patients! They bring in a bunch of people to basically tell you nothing, and then make a joke about it. This is happening to my mother here. You would think they would respect a woman who literally just came out of major surgery and help her. All they care about is sending their interns and students from Baker College to see her and do nothing yet again. It breaks my heart to come to my mother's bedside and see all the bruises on her arms and legs because they keep fishing the needle into her! My mother pressed the call button next to her bedside to contact someone, and finally received a reply about SEVERAL MINUTES LATER!!!! I cannot believe this place is among any top places at all. I will avoid this place like the plague once I can. Find a better hospital, please!
Very RUDE "security guard" at the main entrance. He needs to be reprimanded immediately! Hire more professional staff!
Love this ER facility for the attention given to my family every time we went in a timely manner! Registration people can be little mean depending on who's working. Sometimes there are nice people and sometimes the grumpy old miserable people. Apart from that, The doctors and nurses are super amazing. Haven't encountered any issues with them from the last 5 years. I would recommend this ER facility to anyone over other ER facility.
After surgery no one can see their loved one for a few minutes while they are in recovery even if they are awake. I spent hours on end of not knowing or being able to see my daughter, talk to her and know that she was okay. It was a undue stress imposed on me that I feel was absolutely unnecessary. If that is the policy, it needs changing ASAP.
Is there a way to leave 0 stars?! The worst hospital I have ever been admitted in. Why my doctor recommended to perform my surgery here is beyond me...must be politics because it's definitely not the service. Where did the problems began, at arrival! My surgery was scheduled for 11am but did not begin until after 2pm, the nurse comes in my pre-op room to discuss one of my procedures with the patient's family next to us listening in. Now they are discussing it and how the needle broke in someone's back. After surgery I laid on a cot for another 3 HRS waiting on ICU to find a room for me. Here is where I met the first nurse in history who could not draw blood...not even through the IV already attached. SHE STUCK ME WITH A NEEDLE IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES AND THEN TRIED THE IV 3-4 TIMES TO NO AVAIL! I told her to get away from me and bring a doctor, she caused me unnecessary pain on top of the pain I was already in. I felt abused since I was alone but you should be able to trust hospital staff. I will not mention the rest but will never recommend this place!
Going to the Apherisis Dept. the staff is wonderful, so kind and caring.
ER department needs some compassion classes. Everyone should have the same rights.
**UPDATE: I went through Harper Hospital EmergencyRoom February 4th. I was in a lot of pain. I was forced to walk back to my car and when I came back I had trouble breathing. I used my inhaler and bent over to prevent myself from passing out. The people at the front desk just looked at me. I was still made to go through security. I was still forced to stand when I was on the verge of passing out. My gasps for breath were clearly Audible. Free going through security I was still had to stand to go to the registration desk. Once at the desk I’m still having trouble breathing. Not once did I get offered a fair or help of any kind. My breathing was so bad the sound was scaring me. I could barley walk. No one offered to get me a wheelchair or help me in any kind of way. I then had to walk to where they take my pulse and pressure. Both are extremely high. So high the said “code red”. Long story short they treated me like I was less than human I stayed on ER for over 5 hours and still got no medicine for pain. The staff continued to be rude. I wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worse enemy! Just got into an argument with a nurse. I'm bleeding and threatening to miscarry my first ever pregnancy and I ask her when am I going to be seen. I'm threatening to miscarry. She says" yeah and" I wouldn't wish this hospital in my worst enemy. I've been here over an hour pregnant and bleeding.
The place is very nice and clean. But we are at the ER and there people waiting for more than 7 hours! This is supposed to be EMERGENCY! They don’t care about people anymore. This is a disaster!
Hurt and extremely disappointed in how long the wait was in E.R.
In & out relatively quickly!!!
I was treated very poorly by a foreign doctor named mostafa , he told me things not related to work I felt uncomfortable, I'm calling the rite authority's tommorow, what a rude ... of .....
Rescheduled surgery 3 times without any reasoning, very inconvenient for the patient and family. Their wait time is a scam, they send a doctor to ask 3-5 questions then we wait another 3 to 4 hour before another consultation. First and last time we will consider coming here, very disappointed for the inconsistency with the scheduling.
Harper Hospital Warning!!! I hate it when those that be at the hospital tell you to be there st 5AM so you get there at 4:45 and are still sitting and waiting at 6AM!!!! Harper Hospital Warning!!!
Clean and covid hygiene well maintained I am here for my MRI , scheduled by my Dr office. When the scheduling person talked to me she said I will only need to bring my ID and insurance Appointment time was at 10:30am I was not called to registration until 11:30 They asked for the script which I was told I wouldn't need to bring as they already have it in file I was given the fax number to have it faxed from my dr office. while I was on the hold they told me I'm already late so I will have to reschedule. So I stepped out from the window and tried to call Dr office again, they called me to say they have my script in my file. Thank God I didn't have to reschedule I over heard another person was told same thing that he can't register since he doesn't have the script In my observation the front desk staffs are not up to date with the system, or smart enough to see the pattern. Hopefully it new year they will catch up with technology and services.
Went to Meyers Lab in the basement of Harper Hospital today for Colonoscopy testing and the experience was refreshing... No mistakes and everyone handled their assignment... No polyps at 57 yrs young.... Men get checked out for this screening... Shout out to the whole team....
I wish I could give this place NEGATIVE ZERO Stars , first off this hospital needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY !!! My brother has sicke cell Anemia a CHRONIC ILLNESS ! He has gotten surgery here and he is in so much pain due to surgery and sickle cell Crisis .. they do NOT Want To Give Him His Pain Meds so my brother is suffering in pain. The doctors are uneducated and rude right along with the nurses at this point GET RID OF THE WHOOOOOOOLE STAFFFFFFF & SHUT THIS TACKY HOSPITAL DOWN .
It a good hospital no complaints about it.
10/5 - 10/9/2016 First and only hospital stay.☆☆☆☆☆. 4 West nursing staff best ever.☆☆☆☆☆. Highly recomend Harper University Hospital and staff. From checking to discharge TOP SHELF EXPERIENCE ☆☆☆☆☆
Everyone is severely lazy and unhelpful at best!
Don't take anyone you love and care about here. Told me they were too busy to adequately treat me and even suggested I go to another hospital. Never in my life have I had such poor care!
Best hospital best doctors specially doctor kaul best nurses clean nice organize
the worst hospital , they poke me 3 times in the same area, and did not get a new needle, they brused my arm , it turned purpule, the blood pressure cuff hurt bad,
I took my mother in through the emergency room on a Friday night. The service was fast, efficient and professional. They admitted her and kept her for 3 days while they ran tests to give an accurate diagnosis. While in the hospital the nurses and the PCA's were awesome. They were informative, kind and very helpful. I appreciate the care they gave my mother.
This is a patient of harper hospital from the unit of 8ws My name is Janene Swanson and during my stay i had the most pleasant time... A volunteer named Johnny Was me guardian angel. For every request I had he had a response or would go and find out and come back in the most timely fashion... He left no no question unanswered. My stay at harper hospital was Just perfect because of this young man
I want to know what the h*** is going on my son was seen at Harper professional for a consult for a hernia his blood Pressure was taken his temp was taken no tests were done he had a 2 minute exam by the doctor talk for another few minutes then left with surgery date then was told days before Insurance became active that the doctor was not in his network said OK cancel the surgery got call a few days later about anesthisia and told them he had cancelled the surgery and was told he was still in rotation anesthesia said they would call the drs and take care of it now has a 406.00 bill and no one can tell him what it's for I was the one that made the appointment for him I informed the person I spoke with he had insurance but it didn't become active till July 1 so what if any funds does he need at time of appointment the representative told me only that he would not need any funds at that time..I can understand paying a certain amount but 406.00 and no one can tell him or myself what the bill is for and it doesn't say anything on the statement
Omg, I’m a very patient a love able person but I will never come here ever again. Like one of the nurses was nice but this other nurse showed so much disrespect. I would ask her a question like when is the doctor coming, and she would just tell me some bs answer like ok I’ll talk to the nurse and she does nothing. Or when she took some blood from my mom and when my mom was in pain witch she was, she told me what wrong with her with a dirty look. The staff are lazy and don’t even check up on us like a usual hospital should.
I love this place,,,, Thankyou
The hospital workers were great. Mrs. Tony and the other lady were Amazingggg in the Webber administration! They put everybody to ease and reassured us everything was ok.. and it was. I Love the business!
Excellent staff including all doctors and nurses. Mother came in for a minor procedure and all staff were proffesional. Would highly recommend for all medical treatment. Thank you
Best pharmacy
I am schefuled to have knee replacement surgery next week at this hospital. As part of my procedure I was called for health information. The lady that spoke with me, I think her name was Camille was so nice. She gave me a lot of information and tried to put my fears about the surgery to rest. This morning I had to go to the hospital to meet with the anesthesiologist. While at the Patient Testing Center, I again expressed how nervous I was about the surgery. At that point the nurse told me that there were two people on the floor that had recently had knee replacements. She went to find Vanessa who came and talked to me for over twenty minutes. Vanessa answered all of my questions and really helped me to be less afraid. She even gave me her phone number in case I had more questions and gave me a hug. As I was leaving the other nurse that had the surgery stopped to talk to me too. She was also very caring and very reassuring. Still kind of nervous about the surgery, but feel that if everyone is as nice and caring as the people in the Testing Center I'll be in the right hospital! Cheryl Gefrerer, Patient
If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my mother to Harper ER and she has been sitting for the longest, they put her in a room and they ran some tests but still no Dr. Came to see her yet. She is cold, no blankets she kept her coat on. Very unprofessional and unorganized. That's one reason why I hate taking her to DMC.
DONT COME If you are reading this before you come here if you still at the front just LEAVE, RUN
Poor communication. Came in for a scheduled Covid vaccine through my workplace associated with DMC, and after arriving, walking through the hospital to the supposed location, I was told that the people administering the vaccines had left 3 hours early for the day with no regard to those with scheduled appointments after 5:30. I showed up early to my 6:00 apt and they were already gone. I don’t understand at all. Very frustrating and a waste of my time. There is a Covid risk associated with going into hospitals right now, so I’m not happy about the unnecessary exposure. Why I couldn’t have just received a call ahead of time, I’ll never know.
I just had abdominal surgery. I only wish my doctor/surgeon hadn’t talked me in to this hospital….My prep nurse was fantastic- the girl who put in my IV was awesome, the whole surgical team came to introduce themselves and take me up to surgery- they were all fun and heart warming. I was lucky enough to be assigned to a Nurse named Amber who won “Nurse of the Year” she was absolutely the best- after her shift it went downhill big time. I was given a styrofoam cup of boiling broth, while heavily medicated- my fault for picking it up as it was so hot I dropped it, it fell all over my bed, and burnt my thighs- I rang for the nurse crying and got up from bed, ( difficult as I just had abdominal surgery) the nurse came and said “you made a mess go throw cold water on your legs” are you kidding me??? Nothing was done. He put new sheets on and left. I took photos of my thigh where it was blistered. The next day some random doctor checked on my recovery from surgery- I told her about my leg she said “ it should be fine” I said it hurts!!! Nothing was ever done- no ointment, nothing. The next shift I had a new set of nurses, they failed to give me my insulin, I asked twice, as my sugar was running high, each time they “ will be right back” and show up and hour later forgetting the insulin. I was being discharged thankfully that day by the time I got home I could take care of my insulin myself.
Very compassionate staff!
DMC health system is owned by Tennent which is a FOR PROFIT business. So that means they are out to make money and more importantly a profit on your health care.
Care was great! All throughout the continuum
Very caring staff and doctors and they make you feel very comfortable and safe best hospital in Detroit.
They need to close this place, nasty bathrooms in emergency rooms are nasty, floors nasty, bathrooms floors smell like piss! Nurses avoid you, they order your meds, you don't get them till hours later. I had to request they do bloodwork on my husband! Still waiting! For another IV! Really! He is still in pain! One nurse never answered our questions, close the curtain and left! NEVER AGAIN! HORRIBLE! REALLY JUST CLOSE THE PLACE! SO SAD!
This is a very strong medical institution
Just waited a half hour to get my car from valet! So slow and other people were also complaining.
To the nurse in the ER who took care of my friend/boss today you were so sweet and you kind words meant so much. We need more people like you in the field. Thank you so much.
Worst than St. John main! No privacy! They are treating people in the freaking hallways! Can you say OSHA? First the receptionist was rude and nonchalant. She call a patient by the last name and the patient responded by saying her 1st and last name and the receptionist said " I guess" rudely. Then then treatments that are happening in the hallway was outright foul! Talking to patients in front of everyone that's in the hallways. NO PRIVACY! The info I received was heartbreaking but I couldn't respond because so many people was around that I didn't know! Worst hospital experience EVER!
This is the absolute WORST hospital ever! My father has renal kidney disease and was admitted to this hospital for a surgical procedure. They let his blood rise to an almost stroke level. Also, they delayed giving him his dialysis which shot his blood pressure up even more! I had to bring his medical supplies from home into a hospital! Afterwards, the rn on staff admitted they had the supplies but didn't order them for his room. In addition they just discharged him after 7pm without any discharge instructions or any prescriptions for pain management. Please whatever you do steer clear of this hospital at all costs! The staff is rude and uncaring. I'm very saddened to see so many people with a blatant disregard for caring for others!
This place is the worst I just got seen barley doctor didnt come in at all no paper work... doctors and rn act like they don't wanna be hear how can one be so unhuman that's y I trust no one but God
Save me twice i had two heart attacks
Great service. Nurses are nice
STRESSED OUT!! By the valet parking service. Was told they couldn't take my car and for me to self park going into the parking structure there's row of empty valet parking spaces. Just saying it seems someone not doing there job Robert.
Good hospital
Doctors are extremely rude at Harper Hospital. Nurses are great.
My fiance was delusional do to the fact she needed to be dialyzed and needed blood an Dr luay Haddad who works at Receiving/Harper Hospital put her on Resperidone an Haldol, and had her petitioned to the psychiatric ward, and she is high risk, Do anyone know of an Attorney, l can talk to about this?I aways here thay don't have a place for people who clearly need to be in these type of places, but thay lock up someone who don't
Fasted for 14 hours before a biopsy only to be told they were way behind schedule and I had to wait and it took an additional two and a half hours. Never again. When I was in for a long term stay at Karmanos, I also had to eat their food which was one of the worst for a cancer patient to eat: high refined carbs, over-cooked meat and canned vegetables
I've been reading all this reviews and there horrible!! So my question to the hospital HR or who ever keeps replying to all these reviews is, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?? What are you going to change, it only starts with one!! These hospitals want money and treat patients poorly. So make these changes. Instead of the same reply over and over again. Make the change!!
UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!! jk, love it here
This place is okay, my Emergency Room trip was less than stellar, but isn't that how everyone feels? The nurses just seemed mean spirited.
I was picking up some one
First time ever going to Harper Hospital emergency room. Overall was a great experience. I had Dr. Lee and she was amazing. Great bedside manner. I believe my nurse’s name was Alicia and she too has great bedside manner. Both ladies tried comforting me during a painful ordeal. Greatly helped! I was there for a non-emergent matter but did not have a significant wait to be seen or treated.
Because there the best Heart HOSPITAL
Great service
Chuck in real estate department was amazing !!!
This place is horrible. Why!! I had blood drawn, and the old lady that did it dileberatly hurt me. My had is brushed so bad. You can still see the hole from the needle she twist after she stuck me with. She spoke to me so bad.
Told to come here by my doc only to be sitting in the waiting room for almost 2 hours. Unacceptable. I'll be going to Henry Ford next time.
TERRIBLE!!!!I will never recommend this place, my son went there for a simple test an ended up in ICU due to an incompetent nurse...10 webber is a horrible floor. BAD BAD experience.
I have sickle cell and to go through what I want though tonight to got no relief the doctor don’t have competition for people been to two Dmc hospital still not feeling well what is the emergency room for they don’t know my pain as a sickle patient and the respect level is very terrible you have doctor telling you how you feel
Ive been transferred to this hospital. 10hrs later still haven't seen a doctor and my symptoms have gotten worse! I've been asking to talk to a doctor since I got here.
Gud hospital
Wonderful service and care!
Please don't ever ever ever go to this hospital! When you're trying to get info on your spouse and their belongings, you get the runaround. They are extremely rude!! They don't seem to know their protocol. They're very unorganized and seem to be pretty stupid. I wish I could give them 0 stars! They even gave the funeral home the runaround.
(Translated) Walla was so sick, they gave me a seron. Walla nurses are very nice. Man wants to know who is sick. (Original) Walla çok hastaydim bir seron tağdilar kendime geldim ha . Walla hemşireler çok güzel . Insan bilerek hasta olan istiyor ha .
They saved my life. I had a severe case of Covid, I was on ecmo for two months and I’m still living. I truly believe if it weren’t for the doctors and nurses here I wouldn’t be here today. Very thankful for everything they have done for me. A few complaints about nurse’s that just shouldn’t be nurses but that’s expected anywhere.
My daughter is on the 9th floor ICU the nurses and doctors are awesome, she was a ECMO machine due to Covid. They kept me informed on everything that was going on. The nurses are caring not only to the patient but also family members. I appreciate all of them I believe they did everything to save my daughters I am very thankful she beast able to be transferred there!
Amazing hospital
My team was amazing. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals over my life and can honestly say that the staff here was extremely sensitive as well as caring. THAT is what I'm basing my rating off of. The important things... unlike others who care about the vegan selection? Really? Or people who can't seem to understand that the world doesn't revolve around them so they may have to wait for a body who is available to push the wheelchair... I wish people could see what was important and could stop complaining about everything.
If you have other options, pick them. I had to wait for 6 hours and 40 minutes for an MRI
The hospital stay was great, most of the staff was great. While my dad was being discharged we opted not to use the pharmacy when the nurse said it would be an hour wait. We chose to use our regular pharmacy. We still waited an hour for a wheel chair in order to go to the lobby just to wait another 20+ minutes for valet to bring the car. Only to have to come back to the hospital to have Norco filled because none of the local pharmacies had it in stock (what a surprise Detroit). Give the script to the tech and she says come back tomorrow after 12....that's not acceptable. After I left, I decided to go back a few minutes later and ask what do you do for patients who had surgery and were discharged from this hospital today? Another tech intervened and said "did they give you the option to have it filled here? We have other patients that are currently being discharged that are our priority" I said yes they did give us that option and does that mean that my dad has to suffer because you're taking the other patients as priority? He was still a patient here. Needless to say she ended up filing the script and she suddenly became a little nicer. .. I'm sure that my dad's bill and copays that I'm dreading are going to be expensive enough to warrant him as a priority patient too. I'm writing this as I'm waiting for them to fill the Norco. I didn't even give her the Plavix. I guess Harper is doing better...but still has a long way to go. Maybe the nurses should ask before they give the patients the discharge papers and people like "me" would opt to use their pharmacy as a convenience. ijs
Harper Hospital is the worst hospital I have ever been in. The staff is rude as he'll and the doctors are even worse I wouldn't wish this hospital on my worst enemy
Overall DMC have lots of good doctors and nurses but after that...their billing departments and scheduling is terrible some act incompetent I'm sorry! and I didn't appreciate how one lady schedule me an appointment to get a procedure done over at Harper and another lady called back going over my benefits saying I cant get it done until I pay some of my my portion up front, something sounds fishy and illegal to me, what do u tell a cancer patient that's about to get treatments we cant do it until u pay some of your deductible or up front thats sad and disturbing, I'm going to another hospital for my procedure, I was furious
Worst hospital in America hands down. The younger nurses train on you. There disrespectful. They should shut down or be sued. There just as bad as the former president of DMC which is now the mayor of Detroit which is still horrible like Harper hospital er. Why I know, my mom was a diabetic and was informed she had cancer here and I been going there for 22 years and it only gets worst. Eff this hospital and I’m not speaking on just the 5 wonderful people that are there. I hope you not going there with a gun shot wound they might let you die there and say you died before you made it. Someone make a change.
I have always been treated with great respect. I give them five stars.
I was in the emergency waiting room for 4 hours at st John. I'm now at the DMC (Detroit medical center) Harper Hospital, and within minutes of arriving, my vitals has been checked, I was wheeled to triage, and a nurse did an evaluation. In less than an hour, I have seen a doctor, was given medication, and a breathing treatment. Not to mention a blanket like the one st. John said that I could have. They've been very diligent, and after I complete my treatment, I am to be taken for xrays. THIS is how a hospital is supposed to operate.
The worst hospital I ever saw in my life. Really really it's very bad ????????????
Since my wife has been coming here we have always had great experiences, from the valet back to the valet and I do mean everyone in between to the point that I can not and will not name names. We thank you Harper Hospital and the rest of the DMC where we also have had great experiences.
This is the worst hospital in the world
Worst hospital I ever seen in my life..very slow service
Most of the staff assist the patients and visitors in a welcoming and compassionate manner; however you'll have to look over the rudeness of a few. ..... including the toy soldiers that are posted at the entries. The ladies at the front desk and ICU dept. are the best.
The 4th floor Neuroscience RNs are fantastic. I've spent quite some time here, and have seen them in action. The are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and supportive.
Staff in webber Center were helpful. Escorted us to Nuclear Medicine. All staff in all departments eased the anxiety Thank you
Only one CT technician or entire Hospital
Currently at Harper Hospital. The registration woman is VERY rude. They skipped over people who were already signed in and waiting. They’re moving extremely slow!
I had an MRI and it took 5 hours!!! FIVE HOURS for an MIR. During the injection, the doctor kept nagging about how my joint was bleeding! Like I am deliberately bleeding.
Worst worst worst experience I've been through with my mom. I swear if her ENT have not dealt with my mom for over 20 years, I wouldn't snatched her out of here. We came to the ER Tuesday and sat for over 5 hours, did not see a doctor...Came back the next day signed in at 4pm did not get to the back until 9pm and now its Wednesday 730am and still waiting on bed. If I did not stay with my mom, she would not have been taken care of...they did not come to check on her throughout the night, did not address her high blood pressure, NOTHING...This has been a horrible experience, I will not recommend Harper ER to no one...hope I never have to return here again????
Worst worst customers service They hangs up on me twice Attitude problem Hope this place close ASAP We need people who care about the people
Some doctors are good and nurses are good too but problem is they can let your love one die because of hospital policy. Sometime doctors specially surgeon unable to take right decision and let your love one die. It would be my last choice to visit when needed .
Was here in 2015 staff was professional! However no social worker on the weekends.
You literally might die before your seen 10 doctors in 1 room seriously been Here 3hours sitting in the hallway worst hospital.
Everything went good until after my surgery. I was left in the recovery room from 2:00 pm until after 8:00pm. At 6pm a very rude nurse came to tell me that they didn't have any beds available. I was left on that hard bed for hours after having my gallbladder removed. When I finally made it to a room, it was after 8pm so my family could not visit me after my surgery. They were very worried about me. The room I was in had a very mentally unstable women in there. She was screaming, talking on the phone all night. I couldn't get any rest. I mean this lady was loud. Know one said anything or considered the fact that I was trying to rest. They never asked the lady to be quiet or anything, only when I ask to be moved to a different room they were like hold on she will be leaving soon. Was it because I was African American they allowed me to be subject to this type of behavior? If I were white would they had allowed me to be treated in that fashion? I don't think so. Then when I finally was getting ready to get some rest this lady came in and asked me if I were ready to go because my insurance was not going to pay for me to stay another night. Unbelievable so I picked my very sore self up and walked out of there. One of my incisions started bleeding while I was preparing to leave, the put me some bandages on my incisions and away I went. I've been to hospital's all over the country and I must say that was the most horrible experience I have ever had in my life.
Every visit to Harper Hospital (Dr. Webber 6th floor) has been pleasant, as well as professional, the staffing have always went beyond there duties to be proficient. My husband has always came to Dr. Webber, and have been astonish with his services that he has provided. Furthermore, I am not just writing this good rapport because my husband has been seen by this doctor. I am writing from what has been notice. I believe that Dr. Webber, is a Wonderful, proficient, experience, well-knowed, intelligent, Surgeon. Keep up the good work Dr. Webber. From Mrs. Waddell
I’m currently pregnant and I’m having so many issues with getting the same services when going to the labor and delivery emergency room BUT being charged different prices. And when I dispute them, there is no resolution. It’s incredibly frustrating and just shows how unreliable Harper and their billing department really are. I’m excited to give birth and never go into a DMC facility again.
Stay away! just turn around and go somewhere cleaner and more helpful
The would not answer my phone calls. Calling the main line got me nowhere. This is a terrible establishment.
Doctors are very nice but the slowest hospital in the plane!
Im here now n have been for 3 hours im freezing and have asked for a blanket over n over and still havent got 1 lol .... come on it dont take that long for a cover damn lol
Just left the emergency room at Harper Hospital with my dad who has stage 4 cancer, been vomiting all night, chest pains all night and swollen feet out of nowhere. After sitting for 7 hrs with no update, a nurse tells us he’s being discharged. After telling her we never spoke with a dr for a update on various tests, she goes to get him after saying she can’t answer any questions. Dr Joseph Wollman was very rude, extremely dismissive, and unsympathetic to my dad who was visibly sick so much so that when we first got there Dr Wollman commented on how bad he looked. After talking to his primary doctor... Dr Elisabeth Heath it was decided that no care would be given at the ER but to follow up with her. My dad had questions about what to do if his symptoms persist but dr Wollman wouldn’t answer them and talked over him repeatedly. Finally throwing his hands up saying “what is it that you all want me to do” i asked him if he could not be rude and at least answer his questions he turned his rudeness on me. It was only after I got upset with him and told him how offensive his behavior was that he then was apologetic, however still refused to answer any questions. His only answer was call DR Heath the primary doctor, Who is not at work because it is a Sunday. I am extremely disappointed in the low level of care my dad received and the dismissive attitude of the attending physician. I am also upset with Dr Heath who instructed that my dad concerns be dismissed and he be sent home with not so much as a word about why he was experiencing these problems. DR Wollman provided piss poor service and care to my father.
I was in severe pain severe pain. I couldn't sit down. The ER experience was great very professional kind compassionate they got me in within 10 minutes and I seen a doctor within 30. Had a CT scan within 1 hour. They got me comfortable give me the medication to reduce inflammation and infection and for pain. Before I went to DMC I had to walk out of two other hospitals one in Warren and one in Madison heights that I waited over an hour at both and never got seen just put me in the waiting room they wouldn't even let me lay on stretcher I left both with no patient care. I would highly recommend dmc's ER. This will be my hospital from now on.
Staff in the Webber reception center is awesome. They make you feel comfortable and appear to genuinely enjoy their jobs! I really appreciated it and I know others would too as they are in an uneasy situation.
It's a nice hostpital it help sick people survive so I give them a five star rate have a great day
Staff all in all I'll say wasn't too bad. Gotta say Andy and Yuri on the 5th floor run themselves silly and are top notch most of the nurses were good but they went above and beyond. As for the facility itself doctors are strapped with orders not to use pain meds via iv unless your dying or a cancer patient so if your in pain try another hospital unless ya want to wait 2 hours to have them bring you pills that may or may not take away the pain. In the end I would have rated this hospital higher but too many issues that need to be dealt with mostly on the management side and having nurses say your gonna have to wait because their behind on thier med runs is kinda disappointing seeing every patient is assigned 3 nurses of different levels shouldn't they be helping each other?
The information is clear and the people are polite.
Great place for emergency services! Well equipped, staffed, and performing extremely well during these trying times! Many thanks and compliments to the nurses, doctors, and support staff for all of your efforts!!!
Took my mother here for bad hip pain and fever. They kept us an whole 5 hours to do just one x ray and read results at the end they sent us home with nothing saying everything was fine. I ended up taking her to BEAUMOMT HOSPITAL where she was actuallly looked at with time and care and come to find out she had an auto immune disease. Now tell me how Harper missed that. The sad part is they didn't even run a blood test. Never going there again even though I live down the street.
Worse hospital to go to. Nurses are rude. If you ask to see a supervisor they usually send the police...I recommend not doing DMC unless you have no choice
The security at this hospital was terrible. I tried asking the security guard a ? twice and she acted like she didn't hear me. There was no way she did not hear me bc no one else was there. I had to walk to the desk and she finally answered my ???. If she wasn't too busy in her phone and was paying attention to her surroundings like she was suppose to be doing I wouldn't be writing this review. If you don't like your job, find another one.
this is the worst and most disrespectful unprofessional hospital in the world, i would rather be hospitalized in a third world country. if you want your love ones to live please don't send them to Harper Hospital. if you go to Harper get your affairs in order
Doctors here are liars they say one thing and do something else I stayed here and saw three and they all said I could go home but I never got my discharge papers they will hold you in the hospital for unnecessary things all your test is done I got discharge 3 days lately.
(Translated) Very nice hospital! (Original) Очень хорошая больница!
Worst experience ever in recovery room and the anesthesia department! As it was put to me by the staff, the surgery went great, the anesthesia went horribly wrong. Rude! Plus when I left I was given someone else paperwork. Don't go there if you value your life.
Only go here if you like sitting in hospitals ALL DAY! I waited two and a half hours for my MRI. It then took the lady 30 minutes to register me. After registration I was waiting another 20 minutes before deciding to leave. My time is just as important as theirs, not only that NO ONE wants to WAIT in a hospital for two hours. If y’all are that behind reschedule people, but this isn’t my first time waiting this long STOP SCHEDULING PEOPLE LIKE THAT. We have lives as well. Then the nurses have an idc attitude but they get paid for sitting there all that time when I HAVE TO PAY THEM TO SIT THERE.
Linda Cosby went beyond to find my dad thats a patient after hours cracks without salt and made him happy thank you soooo much
Not the best EXPERIENCE with my outpatient procedure..Went in for surgery, upon arriving I had some medical complications due to a spinal tap i had a few days prior to surgery and tried explaining that to the anesthesiologist(R.Sharma) and she tells me The Dr who performed my spinal tap was wrong for telling me I had a spinal headache and then she asks"what makes you think you have a spinal headache you look and talk perfectly fine to me" Then continued to argue back and forth with me while i was in pain..So once i asked for a new anesthesiologist they send one by the name of Cynthia she must had heard something about the incident prior to her coming cause she comes out rudeand toss a surgery cap at me and tell me to put it on and makes a comment saying " what you dont like me either? " I instantly thought ohh is that what this is about..BUT THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE AND I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THEIR CARE..I BECAME REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND DIDN'T TRUST THEM..BUT I CAN SAY THERE WAS ONE Nurse BY THE NAME OF KELLY THAT WAS GREAT. SHE REALLY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK AND COMFORTABLE DESPITE MY TROUBLES PRIOR TO MY SURGERY.
Had a lazy, trifling nurse named Lisa on floor 8, who was charged with caring for my girlfriend. She said that if my girlfriend, who was throwing up and had diarrhea, wore a diaper, she was responsible for cleaning herself in event of a mishap. This was the last straw. I told her about herself. She then called hospital police and said that my girlfriend was sleeping excessively because she was taking illicit drugs. (Her drug of choice is alcohol). Police came like Gestapo and searched her room and of course found nothing. I was told that I was "terrifying the staff and was.kicked.out.of the hospital. Now she can have no visitors. I am so glad to be a veteran and recieve the fair and unfettered care of the VA Hospital. Racism lives in Detroit and its face is Harper Hospital.
Had surgery to remove an lymph node on my right shoulder and it was done by a Dr Edelman and it was very successful
Terrible boarding process. We were called to be in at 11:30 am, then told 8:30 am and then 2 calls for 5:30 am. Once here, oops, we made a mistake. 11:30 for my Uncle’s surgery time. Never again will we give Harper Hospital our business. This is unacceptable for all of us, especially my Uncle, the patient and my 79 year old mother who has her own health issues. I’m disgusted as a medical professional myself.
Harper Hospital is one of the only hospitals in the DMC that made me feel like I was really cared for. They where very kind and patient...
They asked me for my ID and insurance card however they didn’t want to accept my insurance for an ultrasound and I had to pay out of pocket. No explanation about the reason why. Three weeks before, I did the same ultrasound and the procedure was totally different, they never charged me for that and I’m still expecting the bill after insurance negotiations.
treated my mom with dignity and respect on numerous occasions. other hospitals in the area can't say the same. DMC is the best.
Worst parking ever
Don’t even think about going there, they are so rude.
The crew in emergency, Harper/webber patient assistants and all the doctors are incredible. I was truly in Gods care.
I went there tonight, the African american woman with the mini afro at the front desk at emergency is Extremely rude ,and Nobody is asking if anyone has been out of the country ,they are telling people sign in and sit down, I left it is completely unorganized and the waiting room is packed with people coughing without covering their mouths !
I would not even give them one star. My husband was there from Monday til Sunday. The staff was great til he got to his regular room from the ICU. The doc said he can go home on Sunday during his rounds at 6 am. Still waiting for them to release him. Mind you they turned off the water at 10:30 pm Saturday and not going to turn it on til Sunday at noon to test the water. Still waiting for release paperwork and a list of his medications which is his right. Plus have not even feed him breakfast. Brought him a stall turkey sandwich that i would not even feed to a stray dog. At 6 am round, said he could go home. At 9 am, brought him a nasty turkey sandwich cause I was bitching. At 9:20 am patient representative came in and did nothing. Still no eatable food. Nurse is suppose to check on him hourly and has not been doing that. The last time she checked him was 8 am. At 10 am another doctor came in saying he is going to the his paperwork together. Still no food, no nurse check and no answers. At 10:15 am they brought breakfast, my question is how did they make pancakes without water? At 11:02 am finally got released. Just horrible
(Translated) Bad treatment in laboratory. (Original) Mal trato en laboratorio.
Would advise any traveler or agency RN considering this place (or the entire DMC) for contract employment to look elsewhere. Even when I was an actual employee several years back, it was not a good experience. You will have a target on your back if you are agency. Also, if you do not “fit in” racially speaking, you will also have issues. I would go so far as to label the culture of the staff as prejudiced and resentful toward others. It’s just plain ol’ Ghetto at SG, HARPER, and DRH. Avoid those three entities for employment opportunities.
This is the most unorganized hospital I ever been I ever been to, I'm a dialysis patient and they failed to give me my dialysis on my schedule date and now I'm really sick. Please do yourself a favor and never bring you or your family to this hospital ????
It was a long wait but the doctor was very thorough.
I’m very upset with the emergency room wait time. The staff is not very friendly and we waiting 5 hours for my mother to be seen.
I’ve been with my husband at the emergency room at Harper hutzel for over 24 hrs I went to the main entrance trying to get in to get some food and the security at the door denied me I don’t have a car I can’t just run down the street and grab something he wouldn’t even let a man leave and get his wife some food that just had a baby he told him if he left to not come back there should not be a security at the front door because they’re denying alot of people services we will not be coming back
So far not good been here since 9pm and its 4am was told i could have a snack but still no snack and they keep asking the same darn question.
Always had great experiences!
DMC in general is horrible. Going on 24 hours that my mom was admitted to emergency but has been waiting to be transferred from Receiving to Harper. We're getting the same story that there are "NO BEDS"! WHAT KIND OF HOSPITAL SYSTEM IS THIS?! MAKES YOU SAY... ONLY IN DETROIT! WHY WOULD SHE HAVE TO WAIT THIS LONG? AND ALL THE STAFF CAN SAY IS SOMETIMES IT'S HARPER AND SOMETIMES IT'S US HERE AT RECEIVING WE DON'T HAVE BEDS! NONSENSE!
They put an iv needle in my grandfather's arm instead of his vein which in turn made his arm swell. Very slow service and very minimum professionalism
Came in around 11am for chronic neck pain and being discharged an hour later. No X-ray, MRI, CAT Scan, anything. Only received a shot and extra strength tylenol shot then prescribed muscle relaxers that I’ve explained doesn’t work for me or that I currently taking. Still in pain with my discharge papers in my hand.
Okay Harper got the best food hands down when you stuck in the hospital
My husband has stage 4 cancer. His doctor told him that she had sent the paperwork for him to be admitted. My husband was in pain, dehydrated, weak, nauseated. And his heart rate was high. The receptionist was very rude. We were the for over five hours and the only thing they did was check his vitals. We explained that he had to be admitted per his doctor Heath. My husband wasn’t a priority and could no longer wait. So we left. He needed fluids and a IV. The worse experience ever. I wish we would have been directed to a hospital not in Detroit. And to top it off the doctor that spoke with my husband had a very poor delivery and wasn’t concerned at all.
Worst hospital I have ever been to. Stories too long to write. Incredible lack of customer care.
Lpn April is terrible. I'm the maternity ward with my sister waiting for the arrival of my niece. The lady cathed her and we waited 30 minutes for her to answer from a page. She asked me do you think I should call the doctor? Are you serious? Once the doctor came the tube was in her vagina, then stated she knew something was wrong. I would not recommend this hospital for the delivery of a child.
To:. Keep my mask on Thx for warning us of the abuse. Just a suggestion:. You might want to try attorney Risor in Royal Oak. (So might be Rizor) I read about a similar abuse case he is handing. I saw it recently online. He is located on Fourth Street. Good Luck?
I recently had surgery that required me to stay 3 days. The staff was amazing, everyone was extremely nice and professional. My only problem with my stay was the food choices. I explained to the nurse a week before my surgery that I was vegan and she assured me that I would have many choices to choose from but to my surprise, I had "none"! I could have easily prepared my on food and had it brought to me daily but I took the nurses word and had very little to choose from. I find it difficult to believe that a "hospital" wouldn't have plant based meals! So, if your vegan and having surgery be prepared ahead of time so you won't get stuck eating just fruit, salad, rice and green beans.
Harper Hosp. Is the best hospital in Detroit they saved my brother an I life .that's why I rated them a five***** star Hospital.
Been sitting in the ER lobby since 3am and it's now 10:40am still waiting to be seen by an doctor this is the worst wait ever!! If you are not bleeding or about to die they don't care!! The ladies at the front desk are rude and security think they own the hospital!! So Sad I hope I never have to come back!!
I had an outpatient procedure here last Thursday. Hospital was ok, a little old and needed some updating. Staff was attentive before procedure, but afterwards, neither the nurses nor the doctors involved in my procedure updated me on what they ended up actually doing. I went in for a colposcopy with possible biopsy. They said if nothing was there, they wouldn't do biopsies. But after waking up, I was transferred to change into my clothes and a nurse only gave me info to call my doctor 2 weeks to follow-up and gave me prescriptions for high strength Tylenol and Advil. No info at all on they ended up doing. Kind of disappointed in complete lack of informing the patient.
I just had surgery here today n everyone on the second floor that helped me was very nice n kind I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good work n manners and wait times aren't bad at all. Thanks especially to Kelsey n Amber on the second floor for everything they did to make my time there vetter. I'm very happy to deal with this place ????. The only thing I wish was after I had surgery the Drs never came out to let me know what they found if they found anything at all, other than that I'm happy with the treatment I got, 5 stars all day. Thank you Dr Webber.
I been waiting to get my records from you guys I have got them they said your records are close so you have to go online to get them I did that I paid for my records why do it’s take a long time.
There is no way that one person is working registration for the hole hospital
I'm not from michgian I travel back and fourth here. However I must say this hospital is a great hospital the Staff was amazing and friendly they actually make you feel comfortable and at home. The doctor I seen last night was very knowledgeable she was the first doctor I've seen in years that seem to know what she was doing off top. Rated 1 in my opinion
My mother is alone and confused and they decided not to contact anybody. No one can visit or see how she's doing or even give her any type of relief because of covid, so when I call the operator to see where she is they're so unhelpful when you're trying to find a family member where they keep telling you that they're at Harper or they're at receiving they're in the ICU they're here or they're there nobody else knows the actual answer and then they want to have an attitude because you're worried.
My sister recently had surgery and was moved to the 2nd floor. Most of the staff was nice, but the PCA’s and RN’s were not clean. Used IV’s left in the sink, dirty gowns thrown in the bathroom. When we asked for water, one of the PCA’s gave my sister tap water that was warm from the sink in the room. We don’t drink tap water at home. I poured it out. I’m not sure what the RN’s responsibilities are, because the PCA’s are sent to do everything with no exceptions and I know they are not trained or have the education to do everything. DMC does not take the proper COVID safety measures. I walked right in and no one took my temperature. I agree with the comments about the female security guard that works the evening shift. I valet parked my vehicle. When I went to hand the ticket to the guard, without even looking up at me, on her cell phone, she gave me my keys. I said so where is my car, she said it’s out the somewhere out front. I’m the pouring rain, I had to go find my own car.
I've been waiting over 30 mins for an iced water , on the night shift. All I hear is gossiping and giggling at the nurses station. Much different than the day shift. No nurse nor PCA have been in my room since 7,pm. It's 11pm now. Oh I'm on 8th floor.
I thought Detroit receiving is the worst one but no I’m wrong this ER is worst then ever HELP YOURSELF FROM NOT COMING HERE
4 months to get a refund for a surgery that I didn't do .. what kind of system you have.. you collect fund a week before surgery and u hold fund for 4 months after cancelation???.. this is unacceptable.. I wish I can leave 0 star
This is one of the most unprofessional and disorganized health establishments I have been to. I had a procedure scheduled through my primary care physician to take place at Harper Hospital in the Meyers Lab 3 weeks in advance. This procedure required fasting and prep the day before since it is considered a surgical procedure. A associate from the hospital called me the night before, telling me that I must arrive an hour earlier than initially scheduled because there was a cancellation. Upon arrival at 8:30am, the front desk associate proceeds to tell me that there was no authorization sent through my insurance; again, not mentioned when they contacted me the night before asking me to come in an hour early. I waited for an hour and a half in the waiting area before I was put on the phone with another employee, explaining that she had “messed up” the paperwork and that the insurance company would not be able to send authorization until the end of day. All of the prep and discomfort for nothing. A complete waste of my time, energy and resources with no accountability. I do not recommend this hospital if you’re in need of an important procedure. Extremely unprofessional.
