You can tell they really care about their furry (and scaly!) patients. 4/5 star rating because the waiting room is quite small and difficult to maneuver with a big puppy.

This Veterinary Clinic is usually very busy but that's because it is one of the best vet clinics around! I've been going to this Clinic for many years now and I have never experienced any problems. The doctors here are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable and there's no "trying to rush you thru". I live in Niagara-on-the-Lake and I travel to Thorold to get to this Veterinary Clinic and I will continue to do so because as far as I'm concerned it is one of the best clinics around!!

Thank God we went for a second opinion. Estimate to pull two canine teeth Thorold...500.00. Final bill after a complete oral examination, cleaning, and a 9 tooth removal in Fort Erie...320.00. Our dog checked by a vet's assistant in Thorold and an actual vet in Fort Erie..........you judge for yourselves but at the very least...GET A SECOND OPINION!

I was in need of a Exotic Vet for my two chinchillas and was happy to find this place so close to home. Dr. Manjos was amazing, and well versed in various rodent species. She was able to diagnose, x-ray, and treat my chinchillas overgrown teeth, and setup a plan for her health moving forward. I also couldn't be happier with the affordability of everything. Having someone with the knowledge and skills to treat my pet, and giving me the peace of mind knowing that there is such niche services in Niagara. Thanks!

Really rude and unfriendly staff. Not understanding nor helpful at all. While yes we are in a pandemic, did not give me waitlist times. Didnt offer to take my number and call me if an opening happend to come up nor direct me to resouces that I could utilize when I asked what I could do. Seemed rushed to get me out of the clinic and eyed me up and down while I was standing there. I wouldnt go again nor recommend this place to anyone. Edit: My cat had a really bad gland infection. I have tried for MONTHS to get an appointment. They never answer the phone and you have to go in. Upon going in i was ignored and once at the counter rushed to get out. The person behind the desk was more or less short with me and I had asked what else I can do. I got a "call around until you find something" instead of recommendations even though I had said I am new to the area. From what I can see in comments and having been there.... they're only good to clients they already have or they pick and choose who they want to be good to which seems discriminatory in nature if not nepotistic. If I could give zero stars I would. So I guess unless you are known in the area, know someone there or are a long time client... dont go there. Just find somewhere else.

First of all no one ever answers the phone!, mail box is alway full. I have no idea how they plan on paying for the mew building if they cannot pick up the phone. What is the receptionist playing vet or something. Come on now four days of constant calling and still no one answers the phone i have hung up and called right back more then twenty times

Our two goldens have gone to Thorald Vet most their lives. Dr. Flood is their vet and is always timely, professional, analytical but genuinely caring. After loosing one of them last year she reviewed the emergency vet reports with us which helped us get closure and this past week when our second golden retriever went downhill we were able to get in twice in the same day, the first as an appointment and when she degraded more quickly when we went home Dr. Flood saw her a second time to lay her to rest. The vet technicians at this clinic are wonderful. On more than one occasion a technician named Gabree made quick work of xrays and bloodwork with our senior and anxious and VERY LARGE dogs. Gabree helped us carry our girl in on her last day. She is 75lbs and on other visits been very kind to us and our doggies. The clinic in recent times can be hard to get a hold of but Dr. Flood and the technicians are the best and kindest we have encountered. We thank them for their expert care and advice.

I have been working with dogs for 25 years And Thorold Vet Hosiptal is by far the best place I have ever taken my dogs .The staff is incredible and works tirelessly to help the clients and animals with the utmost respect and dignity . And the Doctors are fantastic . One in particularly my vet The amazing Dr Rachel Thomas I dont have enough words to explain how Absoultely fantastic she is . She always gives it to me straight and explains everything . She has so much compassion for animals and it shows. This place is great, I took my dog here from puppy now to adult. Dr. Flood is amazing she is very caring and compassionate. My boy is very big and can be a lot to handle at sometimes but they always do the best job. My only complaint would be the waiting room gets pretty busy at times and it's a small area. But other than that 5/5 stars.

I had to bring my 5 week old rat Sophie here to get her teeth trimmed (prices are really good) and the staff is so kind. They didnt get upset that my rat was anxious due to being around new smells and they were also very gentle with her. Not only that but the vet actually gave me tips on how to better care for my rats (in a get nice way, even put the tips on my receipt)

We go to the vet monday with out bunny. He give her antibiotics and says come back friday and we will see hows shes doing and give her more... Well she passed away two days later. I will NEVER take another bunny or small animal to Dr. Alistair Ker again!

I have been looking for a good vet for years...i have finally found one. I started bringing my pets here about two years ago.Dr.Flood is absolutely amazing. Shes so wonderful to talk to, informative, gentle, and always gives lots of different treatment options for my fur babies. The prices are so reasonable, and I have compared prices at other vets and most places are nearly double what they charge. The girls at the front desk are also wonderful. Cant thank this crew enough for what they do.

TVH is always busy, but that's because people like them! They are recommended all the time, and it's because they have friendly staff, and vets, they have one of the only exotic vets in the area, and they are more cost friendly then most other vet offices in Niagara. I've been going there for over 8 years.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Flood is my vet and I love her. She is extremely knowledgeable and doesn't just demand blood work every time there's an issue. She is practical and gives you options on care. As a follow up I brought my kittens in today for their boosters. One of them vomited and pooped in the carrier messing the other kitten. After me bathing them in the bathroom sink, they were shaking and wet from the bath. Dr Flood was very compassionate supplying both a hot water bottle and a new towel for their trip home. Excellent service by a mile compared to other vets I've been to.

I have been going to Thorold Vet for 10 years. Dr. Thomas is a wonderful vet and the prices are affordable. However, since the covid shutdown it has been impossible to get through to the clinic by phone. Totally understandable during the shutdown, but this is still continuing at present. As a business owner myself I do find it unacceptable that the voicemail is always full and no one picks up the phone. Please resolve this issue.

Holy unpleasant phone service. I’ve been a vet tech for 18 years. They have no customer service skills at all. Very disappointed I have to go to another less local clinic but again, I know this industry. They are not very nice or helpful.

Constantly disappointed with not only the receptionists attitudes but also the care Dr Kerr provides for my lizards. He's almost always late from his lunch and never provides a straight answer. I've consistently received "hum and haw" type answers. Luckily I've found another reptile vet to go to as I've always hated making an appointment at this vet.

I have taken my pet ferret here before and was happy with the service. However most recently my ferret had ingested a possible foreign body and I wasn't sure what do to. I called Thorold animal hospital and they told me to monitor my ferret for 8 to 10 hours. Except in 8 to 10 hours they and every other vet in my region would be closed. I called them several times and each time they told me the same. My ferret seemed to be stable so I waited it out. In the night he got much much worse, and I then had no where to take him. first thing in the morning I called them back eager to get an appointment. But when no one answered I realised what they neglected to tell me was that they were closed for the weekend!!!! I didn't want to take my ferret to the only other small animal vet in my region due to a past negative experience, so I made the trip to one of Ontario's top notch small animal hospitals, Campus Estates in Guelph. My ferret ended up needing emergency surgery. There were many things that the male small animal doctor at Thorold animal hospital told me about ferrets that completely contradicted everything I read online; as well as what many other small animal vets had told me. He told me that ferrets do not have issues passing hairballs, this is not true. He also told me that ferrets do better on a kibble diet vs. a raw food diet. This is also false. If you have a small animal emergency, I would suggest taking your pet to West Main animal hospital, and even better if you have the means of transportation, take your small animal to Campus Estates animal hospital in Guelph!! I was really not impressed by the way the staff shut me down, and treated me over the phone. They didn't do what I needed them to (and what was obvious) When it comes to my pets, I don't accept anything but the best, and Thorold is definitely NOT the best!!

Very knowledgeable about reptiles. In-office pets such as turtles. Very clean. AMAZING PRICES. VERY friendly staff. Dr. Ker took good care of my beardie and only charged $65 for a 30 minute consult. I will be taking my reptiles here for now on. Definitely worth the drive. The waiting room is small but the care they provide outweighs it. The lady on the phone we talked to showed she cares about your pet. The staff pet my beardie and he likes them and some of them own reptiles themselves.

Currently looking for a new vet! My dog was unfortunate enough to come down with an infection just as the Covid crisis was taking hold. After waiting on hold for a good 40 minutes I was advised to call other clinics. I called three (all of whom picked up after 2 or 3 rings). Each of the other clinics advised me that the new restrictions prohibited them from seeing my dog, that I could only bring my dog to our regular vet (that is, Thorold VH). I called Thorold VH back to inform them of this, and to ask why they would bother referring me to another clinic if they were aware of the restrictions!? They had no answer to that question, but reluctantly gave me an appointment eight days out. By that afternoon it was clear the dog couldn't wait that long. Call #3 to Thorold VH, another 40 minutes on hold, again, they refuse to see the dog (they're booked, I was told). I was pleading by this point saying I could bring her in after hours or on the weekend (it was Friday). I was told they close early on Fridays and don't take weekend appointments. By this point I livid. I asked what they do in cases of emergency! FINALLY, they referred me to the emergency clinic. Because three phone calls amounting to hours of waiting and discussion apparently didn't make it clear to them that it was an emergency! No courtesy, no compassion! Seriously, go somewhere else!

I love this place, I recommend it to anyone who asks. They're competent, friendly, honest, and actually care about animals. Their prices are reasonable and that proves their dedication to their work--they're not just in it to make a buck. They deal with exotic animals as well as your cats and dogs etc. Hands down best vet in the area.

I can't believe the way they treat you. We brought our sick dog there and they explained to use what was wrong with him explained the results of the x-ray and why he was so sick...... Then we brought our other dog in just for a check up and again explained to us what we could do to make him a healthier dog. She told use things about Rotties I had know idea about. Gave use things to do at home and over the counter thing's to get when they could have just racked up the price of the bill. Most important thing about them is they treat you and your pets like family

In a word: TRUST. They love your loved one. My last cat was a true monster and these fine people were always so sweet with her. She was put to sleep there, after the years of loving care at their hospital. I just want ppl to know that she went to two other vets before here and she always came home cowering and acting like she had been abused. Because she was so nasty herself, I knew she was being abused and expected it and thought it was something she brought on herself. Just go to these folks if you have a kitty with a bad attitude. And now,. I look forward to a familiar experience with a new kitty. I know they're gonna love her.

Have had more bad experiences than good. To start, the clinic is impossible to get a hold of. Second, I understand that during COVID, times are rough and visits are limited to essential. But I had my dog split two of his nails down to the nerve being exposed. He was limping and in pain. I begged them to see him and they said it would be better for me to cut his nail down on my own. My dog needs to be sedated for nail cuts, so you can imagine my anxiety having to do this myself. The next month he had damage to his tooth and the pulp appeared dead after playing tug o war. I tried hard to get seen because I was worried, but they turned me away yet again. Told me to just monitor it. When I went to pick up pain pills, there was tons of dogs in line seemingly better off than mine. I don't consider teeth and nail damage to be something worth ignoring, so I would have appreciated being seen. Not for free. For peace of mind my pet is okay. I'm also sick of playing phone tag constantly, so will be switching once other clinics start accepting new patients. Two stars because Dr. Flood is genuinely very nice. Everything else isn't working for my dog and I.

I’ll try to make this as short as I can. First I want to point out that we recognize vets have been overwhelmed due to COVID, however if its causing issues with the level of care you provide…then that needs to be fixed. We’ve been taking our cats here for 6+ year. Things were okay up until their new location, now it’s almost impossible to speak to a human and after the situation I’m about to outline we have no trust in the care they provide. Mid October our cat was vomiting daily – at first things were fine, they did typical diagnostics (bloodwork, workover, etc) which came back inconclusive. A few days later there was blood in the vomit and our cat was given Pepcid thinking it was an ulcer based off symptoms. It was when the vomiting continued where everything went south. The vet clearly didn’t know what was going on and the only option we were given was an endoscopy at another vet – we were told xray and ultrasound wouldn’t show anything. The vet also seemed shocked when we mentioned how much Pepcid our cat was being given despite her prescribing it which was concerning. We decided if we were going to do an endoscopy we wanted him to see specialist, which the local vet they suggested was not. This was never given to us as an option, it was only after talking to friends/family that we found out about MOVH. After bringing this up to Thorold Vet it took my husband physically going in for them to fill out the referral form, which would take literally 5 minutes at most, after 2 days of unanswered calls or “we’ll pass it to the doctor”. Good thing we did because we found out our cat has cancer and without treatment has likely a month left. Oh and that ultrasound they said wouldn’t show anything, well it did. The moment Thorold Vet wasn’t sure what to do, they should have sent us to someone that could figure it out. Whether it was pride, not taking it seriously because he’s young, lack of organization,etc – what happened was unacceptable and myself and family who use them will be taking our business elsewhere.

Awesome doctors! They really love animals and they are not out to price- gouge you. I am very thankful for Thorold Veterinary clinic! Only problem I had was with the receptionist called "Liz". she was very rude on the phone and in person and did not want to help me. She needs to be fired! They honestly just do not pick up the phone ever. Been trying to call to get a refill on my dogs prescription now for 3 days and not once has anyone answered the phone or replied to a single email. If you are so short staffed, here’s a great idea—hire more people.

I have mixed feelings about this place... But I'll start off with the good: Dr. Rachael Thomas has been absolutely wonderful with my dog. She's very caring, gentle and thorough with her exams. She's also super friendly and easy to talk to. I could tell that she loves working with animals. However, if you have any SMALL or EXOTIC pets, I would stay away from this place. Dr. Kerr has a very limited schedule, first of all, for small animals. I had to take time off work to bring my parrot in for a blood test only for Dr. Kerr and his two assistants to constrain him and screw it up the first time causing much stress and blood loss to my bird. I also had my bird's wings clipped and watched him get throw to the ground after he bit the doctor. Also, my bird could still fly and maneuver really well after the wing trim so that was pointless... Although Dr. Kerr does seem quite knowledgeable, I'm not sure I would ever bring my bird back to him due to his poor execution and his attitude, which to me seemed like he wasn't very concerned at all.

This vet may be alright for your dogs/cats but for reptiles the care is absolutely subpar. The reptile vet is consistently late. And to top it off the blonde female receptionist with glasses always has a TERRIBLE attitude. She needs to find another job or go work in the back, not with people.

Fantastic! Dr. Janet Lowery has been amazing with each and every one of our dear furbabies! Their support staff is incredible, as well! I have taken my rabbits there and Dr. Ker took awesome care of them. He is very knowledgeable and gives explanations and educates well. I had 5 male rabbits fixed by him, two at a time and they recovered fast without issues. How they store the pets overnight is another thing, 3 out of 5 came home with dust mites. But I still highly recommend Dr. Ker!

Uncaring and unprofessional. Made an appointment, showed up for the appointment. Was told I was late, however I thought I was on time, some communication problems with the booking I suppose. They said they would take me anyways and told me to grab a seat in the waiting room. Made me sit in the waiting room during Covid for almost half hour before they told me they were not going to take the appointment. I assume that was the punishment for my perceived tardiness. My dog continues to suffer for another couple days until we can see a more professional and reputable vet. This place will never see any of my or my families money ever again. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs, your pet will be happier for it.

Loved this vet hospital, have found that recently they have no time for urgent matters. Called and are told to call emergency vet or wait 4 days for an appointment. How do you not keep open spots for animals in need? Also emergency vet is $150 just to walk through their doors. If this continues I guess we will have to move on. :(

All I can say is WAY overbooked waited over 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time only to be rushed out when I did get to see the vet with my new puppy I was looking for information and was blatantly ignored.by the vet. The vet told me when to bring her back for my puppies next shots only when I was leaving the receptionist gave me a different time. Both were wrong I went to another vet to find out my puppy didn't even need shots for another six months. Waiting room was so crowded it was ridiculous. They need to learn how to book appointments instead of a who cares attitude .there was NO room in the waiting room so that's a sign that whoever is booking appointments doesn't have a clue what she's doing and also shouldn't be giving out wrong information when she's not a vet. Never ever going back. Also the vet was rude. Do your dog a favor and find another vet

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a New doctor Dr. B. Dorgai. She is absolutely amazing!! I brought my cat in, wasn't sure what was wrong and she was so wonderful. We also discussed my dog who has been ill, and she was so caring and made me feel sp much better. I highly recommend her. I also love Dr. Lowery and Dr. Thomas. But, I look forward to seeing Dr.Dorgai in the future. The prices are so reasonable, the staff is truly wonderful and hard working. They all care so much about the animals and us. I called after the long weekend as my dog was breathing heavily using her stomach. After looking at the reviews this one scored really well. I have just moved here and don't know the area or anyone here. I had called a couple of clinics that were both full and they were very nice and helpful. One young man gave me a list of other vets in the area and told me which one to stay away from. When I called this vet the receptionist answered like she was annoyed and I was so glad to finally get through. I asked if there was any way of seeing the vet that day and she laughed down the phone at me! Not only unprofessional and rude but extremely unsympathetic. She said maybe next week and was I a client there. When she heard I was not she just said in a nasty voice we are not taking anyone new. The vet may be great but the people out front should reflect that and act accordingly. Such good reviews too! This woman needs a lesson in manners!!!

The prices are very far, they take their time to explain anything I ask or any concerns I have. The only down fall for them is yes they can be hard to get ahold of, but any time I'm in there the girls are running around and the phones are non-stop. They are a great vet clinic and super busy.

First I want to say Iove Dr. Lowry, I have been using her as a vet for over 30 years she is an amazing vet and I am sad to leave for another vet, however the issues I have are with the staff at the reception. I have tried calling multiple times a day to get an appointment for a sick dog, finally get through on Wednesday was told to go to ER vet as they have no appointments this week would have to wait till next wednesday. There are no cancellation lists or emergency appointments no voice mail, no email, it just basically impossible to get a hold of you. You need to hire staff at the counter who are compassionate and you must be busy you need to hire another vet to help with your case loads. I will send Dr. Lowry a letter on my own to express my feelings as well, because by the rest of the reviews nothing is being done from them.

Called regarding wildlife rehabilitation - a vet here, Alistair Ker is listed in the wildlife rehabitator's public list. Secretary put me on hold then hung up and would not answer any further calls. Very unprofessional and unfortunate for the animal in need. No care for the poor animal that I was calling about. This vet should be removed from the list of wildlife rehabilitators.

Thorold Vet is the place to go for your animals. We have a rescue dog that had a hard life before we got him, which makes him very reactive when he goes to the vet. Going to the vet has always been a struggle and a day we dread, until we found Thorold Vet. Dr. Rachel Manjos address all our concerns, she provides solutions and options, and she was very patient and understanding with our dog. She had solutions in place to help our dog feel as comfortable as he could be, and to make the vet experience a positive one. We are so grateful to have found such an amazing vet. I went here upon a referral and I am very glad I did! I have a cockatiel that I have taken to get looked at elsewhere and I was very dissatisfied with the help I got.. the last place was trying to charge me $450 for a surgery I didn't think she needed. I definitely cannot say the same here. Dr. Ker and all the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and took great care of my bird. They went over her fully and gave me great advice for her care, and options instead of surgery (which isn't necessary in the first place). I definitely would recommend this place for anyone who wants their loved pets well taken care of and just great people to talk to! Thanks again!

Not a lot of room while waiting, especially with your pet. This will be changing soon though as they are set to move down the street into a brand new facility.

We brought our fur baby in on Thursday after her exam they told us she needed emergency surgery or would not make the weekend. As we agreed to do the surgery the went on to tell us to call other vets cause they had no time for her. No time to save my dogs life. Are you kidding me. We went home an called The dog an cat clinic by the pen center they had us in immediately had our baby stable an surgery was done. So needles to say we are done bringing any of our babies to thorld . We will now be going to The dog an cat clinic. Where I can say they truly care for the well being of babies.

Easily the best vet I've had. Best thing is, they never, EVER gouge me with unnecessary costs. For example, today I came in with my dog (female shep) she had a major ankle issue. After taking x rays, a course of anti inflammatory meds and a follow up. I've had other vets that would've gone to surgery far faster, costing 5 times the amount. The health of the animal is paramount however not all aggressive remedies are the best.
