Great experience. All the staff were very nice and made me feel comfortable.

Maher Abutamam

Great staff and super friendly!

Took a little longer to get to the triage nurse than I would have wanted, but once I was inside the staff was incredibly kind, helpful and thorough with their treatment. Staff clearly cared for their patients and were happy to walk them through everything. Had about as good a stay as you can have in a hospital!

Steve Wood

Wonderful experience, great staff. Fast and efficient.

Philomena Hamberg

As long as you don't factor in wait times, it has very good staff, cheerful volunteers, and the usual overworked doctors. Too many unforeseen doctor departures has put pressure on the Emergency Room at all times, but that is hardly the hospital's fault. St. Mary's is close by if waiting time has to be factored in, but then if you can drive all the way there, it likely wasn't that much of an emergency. If you are too impatient to wait for good medical care, then perhaps that is another problem .

Striving Not Just Surviving

My uncle was staying at the hospital after he was assulted and has brain damage. While he was staying at the hospital, he was unpredictable at times on what he might do or say. One day, he decided to call a cab and go home with no shoes on. His room was on the 5th floor and no one thought to stop him on the way down to the G floor. Not only that, he had an alarm on his bed in case he got up and NO ONE thought to check the alarm! He manage to walk out the front door and take the cab home! Not to mention that no one was looking for him after they were notified! Thank God my cousin's friend brought him back to the hospital. My family and I are furious with this hospital! Never trust this hospital, they are NOT reliable!

I showed up to emergency with a swollen spine and back. It took an hour to get to triage, triage nurse then tells me it will be atleast a 3.5hr wait time. How do you ask someone with an extremely painful back to sit on these horrible chairs for 3.5hrs? I then asked if it’ll be less wait time later on and the triage nurse was beyond rude. This was less then ten minutes ago, there’s a reason I haven’t been to this hospital for over 15years! Oh and there was literally 3 people in the waiting room. I’m thinking Stratford hospital needs to completely redo their emergency department if they can’t handle 3 patients and 3 ambulances at a time.

Wait times are pretty long (quick compared to Kitchener). I find that the staff are very rude and passive in emerg. Friendly staff and nurses in the maternity ward

my girlfriend has been back and forth to this hospital for FIVE months now. every time she went up there they always sent her home and told her to see another doctor. i am NOT AT ALL pleased with this hospital and it’s service. they haven’t done one thing to help her and it’s absolutely not acceptable. the people here do not deserve to assist people if all they do is send people home IN PAIN. absolutely unprofessional.

It sucks having to go here but for a hospital it isn't that bad.

A social worker from this hospital who lived on my street made disparaging comments about neighbors as well as complaining about clients she deals with. This is an example of a "professional" you get Stratford.

Got a vasectomy. Thanks Andrew Hussey. You saved me from ever having to worry about getting a girl pregnant. Vasectomy is a painless procedure and Hussey is a top surgeon.

Nurses and staff are very comforting. They showed us how to bath our new borne and provided other useful information. It's only $5 parking for the entire day!

Their new motto: "There's nothing we can do here". Their job is not to treat you, it's to get you out as soon as possible.

Called in to ask about the status of my girlfriend who's a patient in the hospital and the staff could not spend a few moments with me. They could not be more eager to hang up on me... Terrible hospital

Rob Richard

Wonderful experience! All staff, nurses, doctors, anesthesiologist were wonderful. The entire process was calm and relaxed. I had completed conference in the surgery process and the surgeon. Everything went smoothly and quickly. I can't thank the hospital staff enough for fixing me up. Thank you for all that you do, especially during this time of pandemic. Bless you.

My daughter had to go to emerge for the first time last night. At 9 years old, she's never been fortunately. The staff in emerge were so wonderful. The front desk was very kind, the triage nurse was fantastic as well as the nurses in emerge and Dr. Mann was very knowledgeable and patient. I'd especially like to point out how awesome the respiratory therapist was. He came to check on my daughter three times, he sat with her, explained everything that was going on even though his shift was about to end in a few minutes. Overall, this hopsital is so great and we are too lucky to have such a great support in this community!

I was only in here once that I can remember...I loved the sheets...they were floral ones and not these plain old white things...I think that was then..they most likely have the standard ones now...I'm guessing...the nurses were kind and the doctor looked after my every whine lol...he looked into the problem instead of just drawing a conclusion by visual...he actually took the time to rule out anything it may be contributed to...I loved it in there..mind you that was about 30 years ago now give or take a year or two...so for past experiences I give it a 5 star rating...but if I go in again and don't like what I see or how I feel I'll drop it like white on rice lol

Uncaring doctors who focus more on getting you out of there than actually treating you. They're rough, cold and dismissive. I left in the same state I went in, just more emotionally distressed. If you care about your own health, find a different hospital if you're in the position to do so.

Went for ultrasound. Screened at the hospital entrance, register quickly, and only waited about 3 minutes for the test. Everyone was efficient, professional and friendly. Great experience.

Wait times for imaging are quick compared to larger hospitals. Emerg wait times are typical of all Ontario hospitals. Do NOT go to this hospital if you or your family is in mental health crisis. The procedures they use are very violating and traumatizing (they will hold you down and rip your clothing off and then lock you in a room). Any items they take, including $400 glasses, end up lost or not given back. Most of the crisis workers do not care if you are dead or alive. Not everyone will win their battle with mental illness, I just hope this hospital can their **** together and learn to help people, not hurt them even more. People are literally scared to reach out for help. Do you really want yourself or your family to leave with bruises (from "treatment")?

Hallie Bedour

Well, first of I’m 15 years old. Supposed to be going into emerge. To have draining done in my throat. The waiting was Long. Than triage messed up on putting an iv in now I’m all bruised. Than they put it in my hand but I never needed an iv so they took it out a few hours later. Than they took blood but messed up. So took it from my hand. I was poked 4 times. It was very annoying spending my whole weekend in that hospital for no reason. Thanks for trying I guess.

After getting a strong recommendation from telehealth nurse to take my son to the ER we went immediately. Advised the intake of what the telehealth nurse had stated and that he needed tobe seen right away .Sat in the waiting room with only 4 other people for well over 4 hours with a crying ,violently shaking, very ill chld with a very high fever . Asked if I coud have some pain relief for his fever and was advised by intake that the triage nurse would see him again shortly. 1.5 hrs later wwe left ..He needed something to get his fever under control . . Did I mention this was at 230 AM . Will not be going back I will drive to Kitchener to an EMERGENCY room at a hospital . This is more like a wait and see if we could be bothered kind of place .. . WIll not be returning shameful lack of compassion.

So after being in grand river hospital 3 times and the third time was waiting 4-5 hours and didn't even make it into the second waiting room. I decided my health meant more to me then this and decided to give Stratford general hospital a try. It was like 330 or 4am when I showed up so there was no waiting time in the ER room. The registration nurse was good. The nurse who wanted to jot down all my symtomes was very impatient and kinna condensing about my condition . Which when I could barely make sense of stuff was a bummer. However despite that they had me into a bed within 25 minutes of showing up and hooked up to a heart monitor and an EKG. They took blood before the doctor came to see me and assessed my condition . Now keep in mind I had been at grand river 3 times before this and they kept thinking it was my possibly hypoglycemia causing when I arrived by ambulance my sugars just so happened to be a little low! However I was telling them I was having stroke like symtomes.....cause well that's one of the reason I was so alarmed and had to go to the ER in the first place!!!!!! This doctor at stratford however was very kind he started from the beginning everything and was able to disagnose me me with hematolohic migraines which can cause stroke like symptoms and be very alarming . He also ordered a chest x-ray to be safe I had no clotting near my heart and ordered me a slew of meds to try and tackle this migrain episode that I have been experiencing for a week and half!. They kept me until the fluid were all done and a second doctor came to see me to review all my blood ,urine and my heart tracing. All in all I was very well taken care of and finally have some ancwers even know I still have to get to the bottom of why I get these migraines. Thank Stratford general hospital for taking the time to help me and a big shout out to doctor walker and nurse Em cause they were awesome!

Very nice Hospital. Wait times are a bit long in Emerg. I always hate going here though because it usually means there is something wrong with me.

cynthia Smith

Some of the nurses need to be taught how to be nice. I find some of them are so rude for no reason even when you are just trying to sign in.

Helen Shwery

My sister went to the hospital because she was throwing up pink among other symptoms- they sent her home with pills. She called back saying her arm was numb and was slurring her words - they asked her to wait a few days before coming into the hospital. She ended up going to Grand River who diagnosed that she had a mini stroke. The Stratford Hospital emergency department should be shut down! They are a pathetic hospital with incompetent medical staff.

Dan Sargent

Go to London or waterloo. They will not listen to what you’re experiencing but instead get you high and send you home with narcotics. 6 hours to see a doctor and always a lineup for registration or triage depending on who’s working. Just a update, after taking my girl friend to Waterloo we found out that she was a few hours away from needing a blood transfusion and going into a Colma. If we did what stratford recommended which was take Advil, tylonel, and morphine she would have died. The nurses kept injecting her with drugs to shut her up and because the doctor we delt with was incompetent and obviously lacked education they sent her home which would have led to her death. Thank god for the team at Waterloo. Stratfords good for stitch’s tho for a cut.

Mark Cajler

The doctor was incompetent and the nurses were incompetent at starting an Iv they sent me out the door sick as a dog I would recommend juravinski hospital in Hamilton much better service and better doctors and better nurses

Yesterday, I payed a visit to this hospital and waited in the reception area for 4 hours before being called in by the doctor (Dr. Walker). Every single patient that had arrived after me was called in earlier than I, while I sat there waiting and waiting with no updates. When I asked the receptionist when it will be my turn, she said she can’t help me and that she doesn’t know. The reception at this hospital is beyond rude and so very unprofessional that is it outraging they have a job there. She had none of the skills required for someone working in customer service. No patience, patient empathy, respect and communication skills. She just yells and smirks at you. It only makes sense that if one don’t like speaking to people as part of their job, then it’s only right they remove themselves from such a position because this is what they are paid for. Once I was called up to see the doctor, he outrightly, bluntly and rudely told me he can’t do anything for me right after I spent less than one minute explaining to him what I’m experiencing. No further questions asked whatsoever. No questions asked about any past or current medications. How long I have been taking the medications and if they helped. How long I have been experiencing this problem and so on. No questions asked at all. I can’t emphasize enough the amount of times Dr. Walker just simply repeated the same words “I cannot help you” over and over again when I asked him why he can’t help me. No explanation at all. He also told me to go to the hospital in the area I reside (Kitchener) and not to come to this Stratford hospital. I was appalled at his attitude regarding this comment. This was truly a baffling experience and I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. I will also not comment on the racism and discrimination I felt at this hospital because that is a whole other topic on its own. But this much is clear, the staff and Dr. Walker act very differently with patients based on their race. I do not take much offence in situations where I am discriminated against because this is a reality for me, but in situations such as this, it is the duty of the staff and doctor to help patients to the best of their abilities. Why spend several years studying medicine because you want to “help” people but when you’re qualified to do so, you are of no help to your patients?

The nurses are quite nice but a lady who came abd chatted with me was very rude and inconsiderate my iv's were put in wrong and bruised all down my arm i sat i the room alone and afraid it did not feel welcome at all

I am currently in the surgery unit and it is now the night shift. About 7:05 I hit my call button to inform the nurse that my IV machine was beeping and it looked like the battery was dying. The nurse didn't come in until I called out "is anybody there??!" That was at 7:27. What if I was choking or bleeding out? Probably be dead by now. Thanks for being attentive to your patients, night shift.

Chris Dale

This hospital is terrible, a serious problem should require immideate attention. Horrible staff, and front desk was very rude to a handicapped woman. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to, in my life and I was born here. My Wife has serious health issues, and we have been here since 12:30 pm, now 3:30pm and still waiting.

Went to emergency with my 2 year old she had a high fever for 6 days has a really bad cough There was no one in the waiting room when we arrived and 20 mins later the first other person shows up and everyone was called in before my daughter we ended up leaving with out receiving care because my daughter temperature started to rise again and they didn't care and said she still wouldn't be seen for hours They took 5 people in since we got there and we were sitting in an empty waiting room for 20 mins We will not be going back to this hospital and don't recommend it

I’m basing my experience of this hospital Based on my pay experiences with hospitals in the GTA. People in the city lack the human touch that Andrea V and especially Amy G provided for my wife and I ! I haven’t read any reviews for this hospital but I’d be willing to bet these two angels are posted all over this hospitals google reviews. Their personalities were so calming and kind. Spent several hours watching these ladies work and you could really tell they know they’re stuff, this made me feel confident in everything they were doing. I sincerely couldn’t say enough great things about these too. It’s comforting to know these ladies are here full time to serve this amazing community!! Keep up the great work Stratford hospitals !!!!!!!!!

Extremely friendly and also okay with many questions. They didn't just assume things would ask and talk to you like a real person. Got into triage and also the emerg quickly. You couldn't speak to any of the staff not just be told to wait for your nurse. Quick to run tests and keep you up to date on what is going on. They would come often and ask how you feel. Went above and beyond to find the right answer. Not at anytime did you feel undervalued or a bother. When sick it's appreciated. Left knowing exactly what is wrong and not regretting going in. Appreciate the staff for all they did. The kindest hospital I have ever had to go in also appreciate the doctor taking time to talk and explain things. I was never judged also felt safe so I wish to say Thank You to all.
