Sitting with a fractured wrist since 13 hours. No water no pain killer no help. Patients are in pain and the doctors and nurses are talking about what they're going to do for weekend

Derick G.

this is where people go to die, or wait in a really long line up until they die

I went for my 10 day old baby. I went to emergency. And it took them half day to take blood sample. Blood report took even more than that. Most of doctor will be busy with computer or data entry in computer. The first doctor took 30 mins to fill up my baby's details in her computer... They seem like Software idiots in doctor's attire...

I gave birth here recently and had an excellent experience, even before my baby's actual birth day. The NST tech is wonderful and really calmed my anxiety I had. My o.b. works out of this hospital and she's wonderful. She wasn't on call when I had my baby, but she made sure to pass along her concerns she had to the on-call doctor. My delivery was great and the nursing staff who took care of my child and I were all amazing. They were caring, kind, concerned, sweet and funny and I am very happy I was able to give birth here.

Sharon Johnson

Very poor service by staff.

I have to warn people that this hospital on Lawrence Ave should be avoided. Both Dr's and nurses have little regard for patients, dismiss symptoms and make unprofessional comments asking if a patient needs a baby bottle. Unacceptable behaviour. This hospital needs a review by the Ministry of Health. Just go to another hospital.

Such a horrible experience at this hospital. Don't even bother going here. My grandfather was admitted here after having a silent heart attack and they mistook him to another patient just because the last names were the same I guess. They were going to put my grandfather through tests which weren't even meant for him which is totally unacceptable! At one point they even declined to giving him anymore blood. On top of this my grandfather had to wait over an hour until a nurse would come to change his diaper which led to rashes. We also told them we are vegetarians but the nurses constantly brought chicken for him despite our constant reminders!

I don't know why they are angry all the time .No one picks call in doctors office all I wanted was to book an appointment with doctor orzech for a follow up . I have been continuously trying for 2 days when I called operators room she shouted and asked me so what am I suppose to do , then I asked her can i walk in and book an appointment she replied by saying no to that too . So basically no one picks up call and I cannot walk in to book an appointment too then how am I suppose to meet doctor orzech for my follow up . ( doctors are so nice ) Please someone help

Rude staff! I had a baby there and was treated like garbage. When I had my second child I specifically told my doctor to send me to another hospital!

Jonise Zephir

The they don’t care as an emergency hospital even my son crying for hrs they not even come around as a baby they so ignoring people’s pain

The sign says sit on the red chairs and you will be called but nobody cares. My daughter showed serious allergy to Medicean and she could not breath properly. I waited for half an hour and nobody called me. I we and I told them that it is a serious problem then the nurse said wait she would call me. Do not come to this hospital if you have emergency because you do not get the needed service on time.

Stacey Quallo

Thank you to hospital staff at the Scarborough General Hospital for the exemplary treatment I received today Jan 7th from registering to admitting to discharge. Each of the medical personnel that I interacted with made me feel safe. You all …

Not for me. Who took to hospital emergency.

This isn't just a review but advice: If you can take the time to get to a hospital further into the city, do so. If you have no choice but to find yourself here, have a family member or friend to help advocate for you. If you're a friend or family of someone in their ER, be there or by phone to advocate for them, especially loved ones who may have language barriers or are elderly. If you have time before a visit, write notes that organize the chronology of your symptoms and feelings (or loved one), not just a list of symptoms. Write down questions you want the doctor to weigh in on. Cover these notes during your visit. The nurses and doctors at Scarborough General will assume that whatever you visit the ER walk-in for, you will be written off as having an anxiety or panic attack, being overweight, or trying to scam drugs. I've had all happen to me and family multiple times. I've watched a nurse write "anxiety" on my intake form after I said 'no' when questioned. I've heard doctors and nurses joking about the high number of obnoxious 'fat' patients they've seen that day for 'boring' problems while waiting in a room (to be written off as scamming painkillers myself). Don't accept any of these as a first-pass 'diagnosis'. They will try to push you out with something like "we COULD run this test, but I doubt we would find anything, so it may be worth just saving YOUR time and leaving to see what happens" or something similar. Always take them up on the tests. Don't let doctors talk to you or a loved one like you're entirely wasting their time (this what they really mean when they're trying to convince you it's just YOUR time you're wasting). It doesn't matter if you do have anxiety or are overweight. These aren't automatically the cause of all your health concerns. I'll say that the single star is purely for the specialists at this hospital I take my grandmother to see. They do their job. Acceptable, no more or less.

No thanks, I'd rather rub glass in my eyes and rinse them out with bleach.

If I had a choice then I would not have come here. Taken over here by paramedics due to breathing issues. Paramedics said it is best to get tested. Got a bed after hours of waiting on an empty stomach and no water taken and then without being tested, they said it is covid (despite double vaccinated). After getting a rapid test at home, I was tested covid negative. Are you trying to save the testing supplies or what ????

Had 2 successful operations here so far. Nurses were very friendly, well, some have bad attitude, some should just retire. Overall, had great experience so far.

Tanvir Kamal

Never had any unpleasant experience with this Hospital. Friendly and efficient nurses with very caring doctors around. ER has a long wait time though due to high volume but the issues are resolved with care and efficiency. The maternity staffs are friendly and caring specially during night time.

(Translated) The hospice ward is waiting for the dead ward to talk. No one cares that if you don't eat, you don't give food. I feel that the family is so sad. From what we've experienced here, there's a lot of racial bias and cultural insensitivity. This place has been unprofessional from the get go, and after a month of staying in palliative care, we can say with great certainty that this place lacks any care any proper hospital should provide.

harsh panchal

Worst hospital ever. A hospital in a third world country would be millions time better than this stupid place.

Sam Jarvis

Worst hospital er staff are very unprofessional

J. McD

I was honestly a bit worried when I read some of the reviews of this place considering I was booked in here to have surgery, but most seem to be about the ER. I spent two nights on the surgical ward in May of 2018, and could not have been more impressed. The nurses were all extremely kind and helpful. You rang that bed buzzer, they were there within a couple of minutes at most. The food was good and decent sized portions. The whole place was very professional. I could not have been in better hands. I cannot speak about the ER there, it may very well be an entirely different set of nurses and staff on that floor, but the surgical ward was top notch and I haven't anything but positive things to say about it.

A few years back when I was 4-5 years old I had my tonsils and adhanoids infected I went to this hospital they gave an amazing and loving tour of how it will be and we got to try out many sorts of things like to check out blood pressure and our heart beats per minute it was awesome and when I woke up from my surgery I got popsicles which were lovely the nurses and doctors were so kind! I was also born there

Mary-Rose Allan

This hospital is terrible. I have an infection in my leg and left with no answers. The doctor dropped her cellphone on the ground on her way back to my room with tools to lance my leg. She was opening the needle when I asked her “can you please wash your hands? You just picked something up off the floor”. She rolled her damn eyes! I couldn’t believe it. Go here if you want to die.

tariq karwa

2 times with me, there is no doctor on appointment time, and day, they ask me to another appointment, after appointment time wait so long..

Mr. Worf

I went to their COVID testing centre Monday Nov. 23 , I made my appointment for 4pm , the lineup was fine 20-30 people all using social distancing & masks. I got in at 4:30pm , got tested , which is eye opening !! It really feels weird . Made my nose run but no problems after. Big Shout Out to the nurses !! ???? Security was very helpful ???? Test Results Today : NEGATIVE ????????

Nobody has time to read the story as someone did it lol so my review is simple n short good hospital n good staff

Anto Santhosh

The worst hospital one can visit. First of all during emergency they make you wait and then there is no doctor to attend immediately. People don't even update you and just ignore your help request or comments. Shame to the hospitality industry. I wish I never visited this place. For a knee pain it took me 4 hours to just consult a doctor. Last week a friend came in for acidity and short breadth. He was attended after 4 hours. There seems to be more staff than patients busy doing their own jobs than attend patients. Strongly suggest do not visit this place in case of emergency Worst place and I see the poor patients waiting along with me and it's so devastating.

Sangkeun Kim

Friendly staff

Susanne Smith

Not enough staff by far. The right doesn't know what the left is doing. My room hasn't been cleaned since I got here 3 days ago. Lots more

ashini ruchithra

I would choose zero if I have a option. Waited 3 hours and 40 minutes inside a room. No one came for treatment. I left. Go to this place if you want to waste your time. Nurses are extremely rude. No one answer the phone. Worst experience ever.

Reginald D'Cunha

Hospital Parking is dangerous. As you drive higher up the parking lot, no mirrors present to look ahead around the turns. The hospital has the best staff and doctor's. Great job.

Have been visiting Scarborough general quite frequently with my aunt as her translator. This hospital is clean and easily accessible. One entrance only. Go through screening and they will direct you to either the medical building or registration. At registration, questions will be asked accordingly. They will then give you clear instructions as to where to go next. This hospital is huge and we were worried we might get lost. But instructions were clear and markings on the floor makes it easy to navigate. Nurses here are very on top of things. They’re patient and they explain things thoroughly. I’ve never been to a hospital before so I have many questions I’d like to clarify especially if it’s for my aunt who does not speak a word of English! They patiently answered all my questions in details. Today is the day of surgery and the week before surgery, they will have nurses, anesthesiologist call you to ask you questions regarding allergies etc. They make sure they have all the necessary information before to get us and the surgeons prepped. I’m very grateful for this experience and their patience and kindness to make every hospital visit less stressful.

bri f

Horrible! Their negligence lead to my grandmother's lung collapsing due to aspiration and she ultimately died...they then had the nerve to ask for her organs!!! Stay far far away!

Ritchell Penalosa

Wait and wait and wait...3hrs minimum...stupid process in accepting ER patients!

Elsad Canada

Extremely rude, uncaring, unprofessional nurses at the waiting area in ER. This should have been the last place you would see such kinds people with no humanity at all! Please please go somewhere else and save your or your loved ones life! Please! Its sad and disappointing!

Theblockyhero kuso

I feel like I’m being completely ignored by the nurses. I’m so tired I came at 1am and it’s about to be 5am, still just waiting in a room and I can’t really just sleep.

Teresa Perri

I wish i gave it 0 stars. This hospital is the worst hospital ever!! after what they have done to my dad.. i will never step foot in this place again. Absolutely disgusting. One of the doctors were so rude to me and my family when we wanted answers. Do not go here.

Muha Omar

Spending more time longer than 6 hrs to see a doctor even though i had seen doctor Keridstein over 2 month without results and solving my wrist pain ????????????????????????

Miranda Prescott

worst emergency department I have ever been to. Verbally abused by nursing staff making rude comments to me about my weight. I have never felt so unsafe in a hospital before. Its like the nursing staff have no emotion for patients. Please avoid going to this hospital emergency department.

Rina Ng

What kind of "legit" hospital changes appointment times with a 4 hr difference (making it earlier) WITHOUT telling the patient that is suppose to show up?!

Rula B. Morcos

This is a large hospital. The location is suitable. Our experience was satisfactory. The service was friendly. Thanks

Most people complain about parking and Emerg, when writing reviews about a hospital. They forget that the most important issue is care for their family or friend. Communities grow over the decades and buildings adapt - Emerg entrances and areas change as does parking, all dictated by the surrounding neighbourhood and road system. After spending eight weeks at this hospital, almost daily, in Emerg, ICU and in Crockford, I can say that everyone should be thankful that this level of care is available in Scarborough. Every medical person (and there were at least 50 including nurses) was knowledgeable, attentive, concerned and informative. Emerg departments are busy and full, and how medical staff function effectively while coping with complaining members of the public, is a testament to their dedication and expertise. They cannot control the parking area or how many people visit the Emerg at one time. There will be a wait and the public should accept that! The ICU staff is wonderful - perform under pressure, communicate well and update as required. ICU doctors are informative and approachable and inspire confidence. Crockford staff are attentive and caring, and also do their best with a large patient pool. The specialty clinics are well run and the staff are very professional (for example, plastics and orthopaedics). The Wound Treatment clinic is also exceptional, and we were so very very lucky to have benefitted from the knowledge, expertise and professional care of Jacquie Baptiste-Savoie, RN BScN, CETN, Advanced Practice Nurse. Maintenance staff were excellent as well; too often these people are not given credit for the important job that they perform, especially today with the constant threat of bacterial outbreaks. Compared to York Region hospitals that I have seen, this hospital is at a level above with regard to cleaning. The parking office offers various passes - lowering fees by almost half, and they are good to use for a year. Buy a pass and use it ongoing, even when visiting intermittently. The parking staff are helpful and professional and there are always spots on the third level.

Please, please never come to this hospital for any kinds of emergency. My 2 years old son vomited 7 times within an hour and we called the 911 and they took us to this hospital, during the entire time with the 911 ambulance team, my son vomited another 8 times. After reaching the hospital we are waiting for 3 hours, still no doctor has seen us, during this waiting period and the registration time even in the inside waiting room, my son again vomited for 5 times but no luck, still we are waiting, Almighty knows what is waiting fir us for our son. Never ever imagined that this kind of health service exists in any part of the world. If you anytime read this review, just warn all of your family members and friends not to come to this hospital anyway. Hope, Almighty will save you having a bad treatment for this. Update: After 4 hours, we were lucky enough to get the visit of the doctor, after the medication they are supposed to give my son Pedialite ( Oral Saline water) but surprisingly they told us that they don’t have that. Seriously we are shocked.

Imran Wasil

Went for my surgery. Extremely helpful doctor but service was a bit bad but overall pretty good.

Angela Niceness

Very unprofessional nurses At the emergency difficult to get any information about your loved ones it's a constant thing that behavior you put You on hold and you wait like half an hour then they hang up the phone on you very unprofessional nurses the behavior is disgusting. During this time of covid it when it's already difficult as is that the nurses would behave in the manner they do you cant get any information

Rifat Rahman

ER waiting time its a little long but other then that doctors and nurses are very knowledgeable and caring.

ya boi Roy

I have a lung infection and feel like I’m drowning. I’ve been in emergency for 3 hours, everyone in front of me has given up and left before being seen and there is seemingly no staff whatsoever. The waiting room is full and not one person has been seen in the 3 hours I’ve been here. I wish I could give this place a zero

Nandini Verma

Very bad service.. patient are come to take good treatment here but the wait time is discussting.. even for the waiting time patients get more sick . I suggest everyone not to come this hospital please????????????????

Casey Park

Emergency at night? Go elsewhere. Apathetic staff.

Maya Lynn Fields

Please, please don’t go here , Very rude staff, racial and derogatory comments. I have never felt so unsafe in a hospital.

Kyra Juvonen-Dubien

Just one lady on floor 4 central who is trying to tell people you need to be vaccinated to come in to see patients. I called back and another lady gave me an appointment to see my Grandfather. Please control your staff. One person shouldn't be trying to make rules they are not allowed to do. She should know it is not mandatory to be vaccinated and should not make up rules. That is giving people the wrong impression. Just don't know the lady's name who made up this rule but I'll know when I go in to see my Grandfather who it is to make the complaint about them.

Nurhan Shire

Absolutely the worst hospital. Unprofessional, no bed side manners, heartless, uneducated bunch of people work here. I’d rather take my chances with a third world hospital than this hospital. They scarred my 3 year old for life, physically and mentally. Thank you so much for that! You don’t even deserve 1 star…

Hossein Esfahani Zadeh

UNETHICALLY organization and the worst hospital schedule I have ever seen in my entire life! They even didn’t RESPECT my BELIEFS as a person, and they CANCELLED my SURGERY by putting me on the DILEMMA by bringing someone there! I don't have someone because I’m ALONE in CANADA so that they CANCELLED my SURGERY!!! I still can’t believe they done that! I’ve never seen such a thing in Canada! Not in Canada, even other places in the world! Cancelling the surgery because someone is alone and he NEEDS the surgery! Unbelievable! The worst place for trust to do surgery!

Skyler

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. AVOID!!!!!! if you can. I went to the emergency room and Doctor Montoedi stitched me up. She is very unprofessional and rude. Talking to her colleague while giving me stitches. What irritates me the most is that she didnt say anything if I have to return to remove the surgical suture or not. No follow up appointment whatsoever she didnt even give me local anesthesia properly. It is shocking... Also stuff here is very rude and ignorant.

Daniil Kiselev

extremely unprofessional staff, emotionally stunted nurses and a horribly poor excuse for a medical institution.

Sandra Roxborough

My experience at Scarborough General was very negative. They sent me to a group home that was filled with dirt and bed bugs. The people running it wanted me to pay $1,000 per month and he only provided everyone with 30 frozen dinners each month. We had to buy our own meals except for one frozen dinner per day. It was a 3 bedroom apartment where 6 people lived and shared one bathroom. No one was there to help us. It was on the 3rd floor and the elevator was always broken. This was where Scarborough General Hospital sent me for convalescent care when I broke my arm very badly.

Rehan Khan (Sherlock Holmes)

There were no lineups. Staff were helpful. Got the COVID-19 test done quickly and received results in 2-3 business days online.

jaswinder singh sidhu

worst people .. if you are new to the country and call 911 because you are not feeling well and you are dealing this kind of situation for the first time in whole new country without a single member of your family or relative. they make things even more harder for you. my friend is sick. Ambulance take us to this hospital. and the lady on the front talk to us very rudely. We are new in this country we didn’t know everything we learning.

Nasim Mehrpouyan

The worse hospital ever seen. Dirty washroom, small uncomfortable waiting room full of patients waiting more than 3 hours. Awful . They don’t deserve even 1 star but there wasn’t other option.....Better go to hell than here.

suhithakumar mannikavasagam

Very bad experience at emergency department, no one here to care

Richard Kirkup

Been there 60 plus times as good as any

azaad aryraei

I never ever recommend this hospital to anyone please do not go there specially if you have an emergency patient

Benjamin Elroy Yau

Best TP out of any UHN or any other hospital in GTAA! While having a personal emergency, I went to SGH to use the washroom facilities. Thickest, most plush toilet paper out of any hospital in the GTAA! Almost had to take a moment to calm down from the exhilaration and joy when using it.

Tamika Samuels

One of the worst hospitals. Avoid at all costs if you want to live! Had a hysterectomy and they were about to administer drugs I'm allergic to dispite having it listed on my chart and wearing an allergy red patient band. Thankfully I was alert enough to say no since I was alone and not accompanied with family. They also gave me the wrong foods high in salt which prolonging my hospital stay. Sadly I returned due to having a bone stuck in my mouth 3 times. They couldn't find the bone that my dentist actually was able to locate and remove.

Prannoy Tank

worst emergency service ever.. have been waiting more than 3 hours after the blood test to get the report and doctors view...and if we ask them that can we collect the report the next day , they bluntely say no saying we need to sign a form because if something happens to patient , we are not responsible..but a stupid reason and excuse

Derek Truong

Good experience with hospital during surgery visit. Great nursing staff. Callout to nurse Christine for being so patient and caring

Charles K. Wong

Hip replacement surgery was on March 26. A big Thank You to surgeons Dr Caroline Scott & Dr Christine Young, anesthetics by Dr Mallick and the wonderful team of nurses and support workers. A Big Thank You to the nurses and support staff of Ward CPU3. And I am so sorry to have caused such a panic when I fell the day after surgery: I was feeling good and was overconfident with the walker. I hadn't realized the blood lost during surgery caused low blood pressure the few days after and thus I fainted.

Andrew Rajkumar

worst hospital ever, place was empty but we still waited 8 hours just to get my brothers shoulder popped back in place. they would not give him any medicine for the pain and different receptionists were telling us different things. doctors here don't really care for their patients.

Mark Carrasca

Every time I've been here the staff have been professional and timely with my concerns.

Lorraine B

This is the Yee Hong geriatric centre, not a hospital

Poornima nirmala

The people who works in the emergency ,nurses doctors all are awesome nice and fast service.

Denise Beck

If I could rate this hospital with a -10 I would. They treat people with disablities badly. If your mobility device is in the way they will ask you to leave without being finished seen by the doctor

H.A.K. Fluid Power Equipment LTD.

Very bad service , and dirty unfortunately

Nicolas Papasodaro

Dirty, Long Waits, Misdiagnosis, 0 Stars if it was possible!!!! I took my wife here last night because she was sick, had a slight fever, aches, pains, chills, soar throat, trouble breathing, all signs of a cold or even maybe bronchitis right?? Well, a trained doctor might make that diagnosis, but here is another damn story! This doctor looked at my wife for maybe 2 minutes, most of the time at the at the doorway not even close to her and tells her your fine, you just need a puffer. The best line when I lost it on him was when he said, that's why your here right because of your smoking? I lost it on this guy, how dare he not only not fully examine her but be sarcastic and say your here because of your smoking. I said excuse me, no we are here because she is sick. This guy was treating it like it was a god damn joke! Anyways we did end up leaving because after he left he said he was gonna get another ventilator mask, but surprise we waited another 30 min for that. Signed our forms and left. Never again will I go to this hospital! Complete and utter un-professionalism and incompetence. They think they know it all!!

Jack Yan

Agree with all the 5 stars rating.

Save yourself a ton of stress, do yourself a favour and Don't go to this hospital

UPDATE I ARRIVED AT 2:22 AM JAN 12 as soon as I check in a fair skin girl with brown hair and blonde highlights, she didn't greet me but asked if I have symptoms with an attitude and if I'm vaccinated she rolled her eyes when I told her no, then she told me to santize my hands , then I looked back and she said can I help you?? So I took my phone out and start recording,I asked her colleagues if she was or was not mean and nobody stood to my defense but I have it on video so that is my proof, I will be making a complaint... I arrived early at 0102 AM lost and in pain looking for the emergency , the screener name SARAH wearing a purple and white plaid top, hijab and purple Jordan's, yells without a proper greeting and said can you come over here with a rude demeanor and tone of voice , she then asked me the covid questions while staring me up and down I responded no to all the questions then I said I seen the reviews on this place and it's at a 2 , then Sarah replied and I QUOTE " then you should've went to another hospital then " in disbelief I asked for her name , and informed her I will be making a complaint, she responded so and laughed. The next person in line was greeted with a smile and " hello sir can you come over here please" so I stopped and turned around and said wow" he gets a greeting and smile and I get unprofessionalism and a biased attitude " she then proceeded to treat him with respect but I was treated with unprofessionalism and disrespect for no reason , the hospital hires individuals like her and make the institution look terrible , I am going to file with the ministry of health and public health because I cannot believe this hospital allows their employees to get away with mis treating patients and degrade them . I will make sure my complaint is heard because of the incompetent and lack of training SARAH THE SCREENER has is unbelievable

Bassy Morana

It's a very nice hospital.

This hospital is probably one of the worst hospital to ever exist. My grandmother (84 yrs old) went to the hospital at 3pm this afternoon for stomach problems and it is now 12:37 am and she is still not back home. The doctors are very unorganized as I have called many times for updates but they call every few hours instead to tell me small little details even when I ask questions for more information. It has been many hours and she hasn't eaten anything. The receptionist is rude af and won't answer any questions. Abolish this hospital. If I could give zero stars I would.

Ebrahim jahangiri

my finger was broken, i went to finch hospital, the tied my finger and gave me appointment like emergency but time was 10 day after that time, i went to the specialty on Scarborough hospital, after more than 3 hour waiting they called me and they just gave me same thing i got before from finch hospital and this one was so short and after 1 hour is come out and never i put it back, now my finger still pain and i see my nail is broken too, anyone knows where i should to go? do i have to go back at same hospital and stay again for long time and D. again with out any serious watching my finger give me same tools! is there any manager or supervise i can contact them?

Waited over 5 hours, staff blamed it on computer system issues only to tell me I have to wait few more hours which made me leave as I was feeling sick from dehydration and fatigue.

Muslims beware, ask questions and make sure you get the right diagnosis. My 32yr old sister walked to this hospital on her own healthy and died same day. The doctors injected her on the wrong veins that led her to her death. They don't want to take the blame or give the report. The coroner guy doesn't know what to write on cause of death. God is there and my sister will get her justice. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. How could I know about doctors fault injecting my sister on the wrong vein, it's coz one of the doctors told us when we asked what happened. Horrific scene keeps playing back everyday seeing my dying sister, her life cut short. She left behind a 5yr old girl.????Full of Fake doctors.

Victoria Aspiotis

Tower 6 Floor gave the upmost amount of respect, and care.

all Staff were great to us, I offer my heartfelt thanks to all of you !!! Great job

Aviv Benjamin Shalit

I have an appointment today. There is a multiple hour wait ahead of me despite having an appointment for 10am. I just worked twelve hours, and need to sleep, so instead of seeing my specialist. I'm sitting in emergency to get a painkiller shot. Thanks Scarborough Health Network. Edit: Ended up sitting in ER for an hour, no shot, then got tired and went home to sleep. Thanks again, Merry Christmas ????

Inderveer Aujla

Worst experience ever, one of my friend needed an emergency treatment for severe kidney pain, we waited almost 4 hours just to see the doctor. What kind of emergency treatment takes 4 hours. My recommendation to viewers, never think bout this hospital in case of emergency, NEVER!!!

Rodney Yip - Omni Recycling

Arrived to wound clinic 10 minutes early for a 8 am appt. Watched dozens of other patients jump the line. Waited over an hour past appt time to be seen. Patient was in a wheelchair. They "had to get the room readt in the clinic".

Sohel Rahman

Hospital staff including cleaner and nurse are rude, misbehaving. I found only one nurse was better and rest are very rude and unprofessional. Its a nightmare for us to select this hospital for our 2nd baby delivery and we suggest people if possible avoid this hospital.

Bruce Sinclair

Excellent service in Day Surgery, Third Floor Green in spite of Pandemic Conditions. Nurse Nahreen was efficient & professional. Should improve the training of the COVID-19 screeners (cost SGH a star) and they should NOT be allowed to give directions. Overall a very satisfactory experience!

Shania Gomez

UNPROFESSIONAL! Can't believe what I experienced with the medical staff that work in this facility. The non-medical staff are a lot more professional than the doctors and nurses may I say. Travel to another hospital if you can!

navin bishnath

Poor service ....no care....you have to wait several hours, three shift change before you can get a proper answer and slow operation/ procedures. why is this hospital in operation ?? with so many bad reviews why is the service not getting better.

joshua jagmohan

if your not from Scarborough you don’t understand how bad this hospital is... they really don’t care and do the bare minimum. it just gets worse and worse as you go here and see that this hospital isn’t here to help us please take your loved ones and others to a better hospital.

Sarath Ramesh

Very poor service. Only 1 doctor to serve an entire line of patients. Waited almost 3 hours to meet a doctor.

Jo D'Amico

By far, the worst hospital in Toronto. My grandfather stayed there for about 5 days and we had nothing but trouble. the first two nights were fine, he got the tubes inserted into his chest so that he could start dialysis. Every time we'd ask the nurses for favors they would always forget about them. The transport people were constantly late and looked annoyed and it was overall a bad experience. What really drove me to write this review was this: On Friday, The doctor gave us a pass from Sunday night to Wednesday morning. This way, our family would be able to celebrate Christmas at home. Mind you, we asked specifically for him to be home on AT LEAST the 24th. Saturday morning he had dialysis for the FOURTH day in the row (he was supposed to get in on Sunday not Saturday). Later on Saturday, a nurse discharged us and said he just had to come back for his regular dialysis. Skip to today, Sunday the 23rd, we just called in to clarify his next dialysis appointment for tomorrow morning. They told us after the dialysis he has to be admitted again because his day pass is up. Thank you Scarborough General Hospital, you just ruined our Christmas.

Mohaimeen Kamal

Emergency department is a joke! Everything is too slow. Either the have less manpower or they don't understand what's emergency means. Toronto general hospital at downtown is far better. My wife is struggling here, and they don't care at all.

La Comel

The nurses and Doctors in the orthopedic floor have patience and expertise and always help patients with a smile - even when the patients are being horrible and very demanding! The place is very very busy but kept as clean as possible and as efficient as possible. Great job!

Clorine Weir

The Nurses,Doctors and all the health care team in emmergency is awesome no complain from this end

Krista Flare

The staff are nice enough but, unfortunately, they're not very well educated. I was given a problematic antibiotic, nitrofurantoin, for a severe bladder infection and within days, my nerves began to burn. Upon going back to the hospital, as instructed, they tried brushing off nerve pain in the extremities as "IBS" and sent me home. The doctor that visit wouldn't even entertain the idea of the antibiotics being the cause of my pain despite the side effects being easily googleable. It's been weeks since and the burning hasn't stopped or really improved. I only took the medicine for four days and the idea of being permanently disabled because of that terrifies me. I am furious with the staff as they lead me down this path of misery and mistakes like this, only fuel the fear of anti-vaxxers. This hospital needs to do better and better train it's doctors.

stacey beck

WORST HOSPITAL EVER DONT GO TO THE HOSPITAL ESPECIALLY WITH A MOBILTY DEVICE

Armek Shahenian

The staff are not professional at all specially the lady’s at the front disk I bring my mom with me and she don’t speak English at all I ask her to go with her she said no my mom she’s 74 years old and she have a lot of medical problem she need blood transfusion so I have to tell the doctor what she have problems before she got her transfusion so this is not right at all she told me if you don’t want go for another hospital ???? this is how they treat people in this hospital

K.M. C

I would not recommend this hospital even to my worst enemy.

Ana Cerqueira

Scarborough general was the place born gave the me the best but guess what all of it went to shackles after I went to those sickos at western who killed to go Scarborough owe you I'm us now peace

Thank you Dr. Ravichandran for taking care of out grandpa. He was admitted while fighting covid. He was sent home as his oxygen levels were stabilized with your help and with the help of the nurses and support workers. Thank you all from my family to yours. You are all heros.

Tara Autwal

Not impressed at all.

Sue Sutcliffe

Kudos to all the heros at Scarborough Health Network (Scarborough General Hospital) who were amazing with my Father who was rushed by ambulance and is now home and feeling much better. I have to say it was the last place I wanted to be or take my father too during a pandemic and I was so relieved to see all the precautions that were taken and how quickly you were able to get him in and out. On behalf of my Father and family, thank you very much appreciated!

Afaq Qazi

In emergency ward, we have 1 dr for the entire night. And that Dr serviing each patient as a family doctor. He doesn’t understand that its an emergency ward and not a family Dr. Not a reliable hospital for emergencies. Visited one time and will not visit again.

Jewels Lewis

Its 1212 and right now they are calling 1015 appointments. If that is not crazy, I don't know what is. Talk about a lack of respect for peoples time. Shameful.

Mary Alexander

Have been sitting in acute care for 2 1/2 hours. Have yet to have a nurse come in!!!! Heart issues and this is how they take care of you

Beacon of Hope

Sitting in the Emergency department.... In a word, disgusting! This department is filthy. There are fluid spills, garbage and debris on the floor and surfaces. There is blood imbedded on the public washroom toilet seat. The air vent above my head is nearly blocked with a thick fur. No wonder people are sick and wearing masks in here. Is there no maintenance crew?!!! Step it up and clean it up! You’re a HOSPITAL!!!

Aabeg Rasheed

My grandmother had a surgery today! She told us that she had no food since 10AM!!! She is still there and guess what?! The nurses were chatting off while my grandma was supposed to be moved into another room. The nurses after multiple requests moved her into the room that she was supposed to be in 2 hours ago. After that I noticed that they didn't put the gear on so I had to REQUEST AGAIN and they tried I guess because the mask was put on but there was no air coming out of it! 10 x worse than Rouge Valley Hospital. AT LEAST ROUGE VALLEY KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!???? FIX THIS ISSUE! One more thing they said that they were going to give food but they didn't 10 - 12 hours past and no food received from the hospital so I had to go to Tim Hortons and get soup for her.

Bhuwan Ghimire

It is the local hospital & close to my house. It is a good hospital as well except for the terrible wait times. Other things is good in this hospital.

diane ferrara

Nice staff.

Asheni Perera

Long wait i had to wait more than 3 hrs. Doctor's are really nice. The processing time is the longest

SHIFA SHAIKH

Worst hospital ever few doctors are best and faculty is Worst I was waiting in emergency for past 6 hours and I asked one of the doctor to give me glass of water he just said you are not my patient.. and then I asked nurse to give me water but she was so ignorant she said wait for your results idiot's pathetic really bad experience...

Shayleen McFarlane

Horrible hospital I came into the emergency and when I arrived there was a gentleman bleeding badly from a cut he got the a procedure he got at the hospital in the morning. He has been sitting in emergency for 2.5 hours pouring blood.. the attitudes from the triage nurse was disrespectful and discussing. This is the women who should not be working people period. If you don’t like your job lady you need to find a new one.

Md Abu Raihan Tawsif

Waiting time is terrible in this hospital than others. I won't go for any further treatment. Thanks

KY KING

The most unprofessional hospital all the nurses are sooooo rude you can't imagine they have to close the hospital if I could do this to report for the Mr preminestar how careless the hospital staff are I have appointment but they don't know I will never come in this hospital again I had a bad experience

Aisha Shaheri

BAD BAD BAD My dad went here. and there was some one who's name was nurse.egale he was bad bc my dad asked for water and he said to get it from the bathroom (the water was bad there). then my dad sayed to get clean water and he was saying bad words while going to get water.

I live in the west of Toronto and I came to Scarborough hospital how many times the doctors and nurses are the best I like how they work and God bless them ????

hamideh mohammadi

Do no go there Very terrible services They do not care about your health at all. My blood test result was not normal and the emergency discharged me and I did not know that. I went to other hospital after that and I had emergency surgery. I suffered from the pain for long time just because I did trust doctors at this hospital

Rkv tycoon

Can't comment on the hospital as a whole, or for the emergency department. My review is based solely on a scheduled procedure at this hospital. Will admit I was super nervous after reading online reviews but my experience was comfortable, fast, and well-cared for. The registration was quick. Doctor and all the staff, nurses, etc that dealt with me were respectful, apologetic for delays in timing which were out of their control, and compassionate throughout the whole procedure from IV start to finish (procedure and release). Thank you for making a patient that is usually terrified of these experiences at hospitals at ease!

Elsa Mangune

I have been to the SHN (Lawrence and McCowan) a few times and I would give it a passing mark. The Registration area was fairly OK. It was not the most welcoming, nor the most helpful, but they will try and process you as fast as they could. Some of the nurses were very caring and attentive to my needs; but unfortunately, some were not. I remember this nurse that took three seconds to wash my back and then just left the washcloth and bowl of soapy water on my hospital bed without any explanation. I have also had contacts with the hospital's physiotherapists and occupational therapists and again some were really good and some I find had attitudes. I understand that some departments were probaby understaffed and maybe the morale was low, and that may have contributed to my not very good patient experience. My rating is really 3 1/2 stars because as mentioned, I had some excellent nurses and physiotherapists as a patient there back in 2018 and 2019.

Oscar Kilo

Infected my wrist for 10 days after their surgery. Tried to hush up their wrongdoing. Still suffering because of it.

Arthi Anandane

Last night I was there with my son ..and the nurse was so insensitive in triage .. she said that he will get a heart attack if he doesn't loose weight ..my son has autism and anxiety disorder he freaked out we went in with high BP and he was having chest pain.. my son got panicked hearing all this.. when they say we public has to be good and nurse and their staff I think we have all the right to ask them to be good with us too.. please don't forget humanity in health service.. I guess there should be a humanity test before they pass out their career or pursue their career I rate it bad and I feel so bad that all my life in Canada I have been looking for a house close to this hospital Feeling so hurt and let down..

NAEEM MOHAMMED

Alice Wang

TERRIBLE EXERPIENCE. Calling at midnight for emergency services and the stuff was so impatient, correcting my pronounciation while I was so worried, judging everything. I was calling to secure help and they gave me anger in return.

tia Cole

Worst experience of my life. The nurse was so insensitive. Will never be going back

Luiz Moura

Old hospital but nice and caring stsff

Stylish. Thrifther

I waited 8 hours to be told they don't know what's wrong with me. They are unprofessional, backwards and overall just don't care. I did ultrasound before I did urine and blood samples. Then had to go back the next day to do more test. Then told I have a blockage in my tube but I can go home. Lack of care. I will not be returning to this particular hospital.

Benjamin

Dr Sherryn Roth is grossly incompetent and unprofessional ! She regularly pays to remove negative reviews on ratemds. Her negligence led my father to die in less than 15 hours of her assuming his care. I hope she learns what it feels like to lose your loved one to an uncaring, incompetent and hugely unprofessional “cardiologist”. Do not take your loved ones to SGH but straight to St Mikes.

sil l

Overcrowded. Come half an hour before the appointment they give you because they don't honor the appointment times. This place makes me want to relapse.

Arielle Shauber

Long ER wait times, but my father has been getting very good care at this hospital since being admitted. Visitor got policies are still fairly restrictive, but once his covid results came back negative they allowed me to see my father which I greatly appreciated. He’s in great spirits and the nurses who have cared for him have been friendly and communicative.

Salima Wright

If you are a woman with chest pain, this hospital may not be right for you. A male patient presenting with chest pain was told by an ER doctor that nothing was seen in his tests results but they would arrange for a Holter monitor and cardiologist follow-up. Conversely, a female patient presenting with chest pain, with a diagnosed heart condition, is waived away as "anxiety", with no treatment, follow-up, or appropriate diagnostics to result in such a conclusion.

Sabina Easmin

WORST HOSPITAL I HAVE BEEN TO. Me and my daughter went to this hospital at 1:00 am for an emergency. We waited around 1 hour in the waiting room until they sent us to the checking room. After 4-5 hours of waiting in the checking room, a doctor finally came in and did a 2 minute check-up on my daughter and littiraly said only 5 words " I don't know what happened." Then why make us wait 5 hours when that was all you could say or do?!?!???????? Wish I could give this hospital negative stars!

WARRIOR

Terrible hospital that is Old with Rude employees/Doctors. That place will kill you before you leave, don't go there with an Emergency. CENTENARY HOSPITAL is WAAAAAY BETTER!!! ????

Angie Perinpa

My mother goes for dialysis since December 2020. We have started her first dialysis in Scarborough General Hospital (which is about 45 mins away from my house). During this pandemic time they have helped me a lot. They let me to stay inside the hospital for 4 hours during her treatment time. After that during January they knew that we are coming for far away, they have switched me to their satellite unit (Yee Hong Satellite Dialysis Unit). Very friendly staff members over that unit. They take care of my mom very well. I don't have to wait stay in the unit for 4 hrs. They take care of them very well. My mom doesn't even feel that she is going for a treatment. That much friendly they are. Thank you so much for all the dialysis unit for helping.

Ramon Cadenas

Was ok, no line, clean, easy acces

Sunalini Rana

I was unsure about the level of service here, after reading other reviews but all my doubts vanished after meeting the staff there. I went to emergency and I was free within 2.5 hrs. The staff was very courteous and professional.

RUSLAN SHAIKH

Unprofessional doctor for children...

Johnny S.

Compared to other hospitals I've been to, the nurses at SHN has been (overall) the most pleasant (but this is very comparative, as the bar is pretty low to begin with). The doctors are very hit-or-miss, but they do do their jobs to try to provide you with the right care. Overall, if hospitalization is the goal, SHN is a relatively good choice.

Taha Hayat

Had to go there for a emergency I was facing, Dr Sobberman, Dr Pulle and Nurse Ingrid were the nicest people I ever met. Took me in right away when they noticed the amount of pain I was in and kept me in close watch, some of the nicest staff I have ever met. I have nothing but good things to say about this Hospital and hope their kind acts of generosity don't go unnoticed, very nice staff.

Leonard E

This is the third visit to the Emergency Department for me at hospital located at Lawrence Ave E and McCowan Road. Luck for me, I’m not a patient tonight but my friend is in severe pain. During COVID-19, all parking lot fees have been waived. That is $16 less for me to have to spend this day! If daily parking included a vehicle wash, it wouldn’t bother me as much. Just venting out loud for the other times I was here.

behehsta kabir

Avoid AT ALL COSTS ! Don’t go.

Khalid H

This the worst hospital in whole Canada..They do not have doctors, yet expensive and above all worst customer service (very rude) in all Frontdesks from Finance to Registration. You need to be very careful while doing registrati, orelse they will give you a huge bill as they consider all people as Refugees or non residents. Lastly, they have a Customer Feedback option which is only for Show-off, it will not solve any problem. They do not work for patients, very disrespectful and unfriend..

Melissa Thompson

This hospital needs to be shut down I came here for my 6 year old daughter to get a x-ray on her leg I had to wait 5 hours in the waiting room. Also the nurses are really rude the bathrooms are nasty and there is also puke buckets all in the waiting room area something needs to be done and it's like all the doctors and nurses go on brake at the same time please help or shut down the hospital....this hospital makes me sick when it comes to caring for sick/hurt people...

Jazzifur McE

Quick registration then on to testing dept, taken on time.

Parvin Zafarani

Possibly the worst hospital in Toronto. Nurses are extremely rude. Christopher in ER, laughing and joking around with colleagues while sick patients are moaning in pain. Dr. Chen in ER, the rudest doctor I have ever encountered. Poor care to my mother who was suffering in pain for hours before they even acknowledged her. When I wanted to talk to them telling them that I'm a doctor, matters got worse and they ignored my mom even more. I will try my best to make sure these people face consequences for their horrible care. As a doctor I know, when you sign up in this field, you take an oath to do no harm, it's a shame to see how that means nothing to these people. It's obvious they do not care about their patients.

Pathik Patel

Is there anyway to rate in minus? Hospital doesn't know the meaning of emergency. patients have to wait 3 hours in registration even in emergency. Worst health care system in world.

Sharry Budd

Well organized on entry.

Evelyn Enriquez

Took son to emerg with burn hand today at 9:30am. was just standing in front of the receptionist window when we arrived and trying to read the postings and articles on the glass window. Receptionist was on a personal phone call talking loudly like she has all the time in the world. Suddenly she yelled at me "SIT DOWN AND I AM ON A TELEPHONE!!!..This is what you call service?...and considering she is a front line staff. I would rate this zero not even 1 star.

Daniyal Shaikh

Went there 14 years ago and again in 2021 for a surgery. Excellent staff throughout. Reception was professional and helpful. Nurses were very caring. The Surgery went smoothly. I am humbled by the treatment I recieved. If the staff are reading this. Thank you. Surgeon was also excellent. Seperate review.

Shann

Great place

Karen Schulz

I want to share the outstanding service and care I received from the nurses and doctors before and after my surgery. Caring and passionate staff. My experience was exceptional. I knew I was in good hands. Thank you to all the staff at Scarborough General General

Avy Assayag

Helpful Staff, at all levels.

BINCY

Today I visited this hospital with my child in an emergency department, It took a long waiting ( 5 hours )time to see a doctor. It not make sense, if you have any emergency situation and you consult a doctor in an emergency and hold them in a long waiting’s.

shane hockett

Came in today with a broken arm and torn elbow and bicept, waited for almost an hour listening to the staff behind the glass while the rook was empty talking about how much they hated their union and schedule while never bothering to admit me?. I stood up said "nice priorities, thanks "and walked out to have to pay 4 dollars for parking to go elsewhere where maybe people will actually do their job. Pathetic as usual.

Tina Leyk

This place is terrible. Do not come here. The service is slow, doctors don't communicate, and they let patients languish with no pain medication for days. Go anywhere else, avoid this hospital at all costs!

Shannon Bowler

I was transferred to this hospital from.north York and very nervous to have my baby in NICU. The nurses and doctors are Angel's here. Very positive experience with a stressful time. If it wasnt for the NICU nurses I would have no idea how to breast feed, and handle a premie baby. Most of all is the smiles and love these nurses have for their job. You can tell it's more than a job it's a passion. I feel these nurses should get an award.

athena hu

The receptionist of received phone call was horrible!!!! I just wake up and trying to call in to help my mother reschedule the appointment in the future. But the attitude of the receptionist is SO BAD!!!! The responsibility of the received phone call receptionist is help patient to making a appointment or due to some reason to reschedule the appointment, or explain something to the patient. I don’t understand how I just want to reschedule the date and she talked to me so loud and even almost angry. Btw I won’t go there anymore.

Linda F

Worst hospital I’ve ever been too! They aren’t professional (when you hear 2 nurses making fun of an elderly patient not even 4 feet away from them where they can hear / elderly asking for help for 7hours to go to to bathroom and no one helping there’s a problem) / no one ever seems to know what the hell they’re doing…. Got a covid test at 9:45pm yesterday but had to get it done again because nurses don’t know anything about anything or what’s going on with anyone… I was stuck in emerg for 3 days waiting for a room, I slept in a wheel chair for 2 days… they kept changing what was going to happen with me / what we were gonna do….. I think next time I’d rather go to a different hospital

Ryan

Thank you healthcare heroes!

Literally had to wait 24 hrs

Toronto Collector

Tim's not easy to get to if ur not a patient. Rude security.

Careless and Unprofessional people are working there, nurse on the front desk was so rude

Ray B

Been waiting here since 5am for a shoulder pain issue. It’s now 11:30am & I’m in a waiting room with the same pain. Nurses r cold n doctors don’t seem to care. I called out to the doctor twice n was told “he’s busy” but he stood with a colleague for about 30 mins speaking about their fam & plans for the weekend while I was sitting with excruciating pain. Not sure y they are in the field If not to help people, its beyond me! I think I’m going to check myself out n go somewhere else.

Ahmed Ismael

At the Raptors night, the hospital team worked even harder than Raptors! Will never forget what you did with my mother in law! Thank you is not enough!

Rizwana Chowdhury

Horrible place

VizagRaja

longesttttt wait times, good staff

Lol come here if you want a team of 6 nurses talking loud and giggling outside your OPEN DOOR at 5am :) y'all fr?

Bahareh Pourian

The ambulance brought me into hospital, they transferred me to the wheelchair, they did not allow visitor come with me, and when the nurse called me she just stayed far from me and said I have to walk myself, I asked for help from nurse and paramedic over there as I was dizzy and weak, but they refused and left me alone. Then, I ended up leaving hospital without visiting a doctor. They were not even busy. The worst hospital and patient care ever in Toronto.

J Yu

The staffs are friendly. Minus 1 for putting food trash near the elevator. Don’t know why but there are such things near the elevator entrances of several floors.

Not happy with the service of staffs especially on emergency ward....behavior is so bad.. Worst experience ever

Rain Drops

Worst hospital experience ever ????

Hasitha Pathiraja

I have never had to experience such a series of bad interactions in my life! My mother in law had to get surgery, and from day one, there has been so much friction. There was wrong info given, appointment bookings done out of order, etc. Also, when they messed up, WE had to call and rebook things, rather than them fixing their mistakes. The cherry on top: The day before the surgery we were told that my wife can accompany her mother, since she has hearing issues and needed help. After confirming all this, once we came on the surgery day, my wife was denied entry! We were told she is not "in the system", despite her being told explicitly. Even if you have to go a bit further, please don't pick this hospital.

SteveEh

There’s no order at this hospital. Triage works on a first come first serve basis instead of a “pre-triage” who takes your name and the type of injury you sustained before going to see a nurse at the triage. First hospital that operates like a low budget clinic. Absolutely disgusting. Worse part is, you’ll wait a considerable amount of time to hear a quack of a doctor tell you’re fine, it’s just a minor injury. Not the first quack to misdiagnose me (where do these doctors get their degree to practice???). The doctors at SGH do pain management instead diagnosing and actually treating the pain so it doesn’t happen again (Yes, I’m saying “doctors” plurally as some of family member were handled in the same fashion as I did. So it’s safe for me to make this statement about SGH’s emergency room doctors). Don’t be surprised to hear, “I’m going to prescribe you Naproxen” -_-. Went to another doctor at North York General Hospital, far better experience, lo and behold, i have a dysfunction in my SI joint after ct scan. If you’re in need of dire medical assistance, this hospital ain’t going to do much for you.

Kavitha Kanthan

Not a very good hospital. My cousins had passes away there due to back pain

MD DEGMASTER

Too much wait time. Please don’t visit this location for real emergency. Staff is rude. No one cares even if u r dying.

Sivanantham Theepan

So bad services I had from my visit to discharge in the maternity department. I would not recommend to go to this hospital. There was a nurse so rude. We got baby born almost in hall way till that no bed available. We were in hospital 4 days but we don't know have they done hearing test to my baby.

Alexis T

I wish I had an opportunity to give them 0 star. They were so rude and the Asian Ent specialist he didn't check properly and charged my school insurance $850 for prescribing a ear drop. Extremely rude staff. They rip-off your insurance company so better be careful. They over charge the insurance and make false claims. Probably a bunch of unprofessional people are working here.

Salini Allard

Love the space, care and no lines at the kids after hours clinic. Great idea.

cheryl smith

Came in for chest pains It took 20 mins to be called to look at my health card and asked why I came in and another hour and forty five minutes to be called to take my blood pressure and general questions then three mins to register and have ecg done. Something is not right... what is happening with our health care system? If we continue like this many will loose their lives

Mary Bradbury

My 89 year old husband is in emergency department and although he has dementia they will not let me in to be with him. I have been waiting 31/2 hours. A woman and her son came in long after and he was allowed to go in with her. She was perfectly lucid. I am extremely upset and will never ask that he be brought here again

Sandra Giguere

I have to give a huge round of applause for the oncology dept. These nurses have the patience of a saint! Day in and day out they are dealing with people who are facing their immortality and I have witnessed how difficult some patients can be. But these nurses continue to smile and provide the best service they can. Giving a huge shout out to the nurses in Oncology. :-)

Let me just preface this: My nearly 90 year old grandmother's funeral was today. It's over now, and I'm in a much calmer state of mind than I was when she was brought into Emergency just under 2 weeks ago. I'm not writing this negative review because she died that night...that was to be expected given her old age and terminal illness. I'm writing this, because of her poor treatment in the Emergency department, preceding her passing. I am overall quite disappointed in this hospital's personnel...except for Katie in Palliative Care, one of the few people to actually help my grandmother pass on peacefully. Although it would have still been better if she didn't have to suffer in agonizing pain for over 2 hours in Emergency before that, with the rest of us (family) feeling helpless at what we could do for her despite asking 2 different staff nicely (who said ok and brushed us off), on at least 3 separate times, for pain medicine for my dying grandmother. In the end, she never got that much needed needle injection for pain in Emergency...only after being transferred to Palliative Care did she finally get it 2 hours later. And the needle injection itself took all of 1-2 minutes, most of it which was deciding which leg would be ideal to place it on so my grandmother doesn't rip it out in confusion (she has Alzheimer's too). What could have been done in 2 minutes, took more than 2 hours by the hospital for my dying grandmother. And the meal (which they didn't ask us family about what exactly she wanted, which was liquids), that they gave my grandmother for her last meal abysmally sucked too, since all they gave her was puree and jelly everything. EVEN the cup labeled "Juice" had the texture of a frozen sorbet slushy...it was so thick, you could spread this "Juice" on toast like jam. Not even a single drop of running liquid on the tray for my thirsty grandmother with a sore dry throat to wet her mouth with (she was wearing adult diapers and a catheter, so any liquid-accidents wouldn't have been a problem). I had to buy a bottle of water (not from the Hospital) for her, and steal a straw from Tim Hortons....THAT was her pitiful last meal--plain bottled tap water, because that was all we could give her, no thanks to the Hospital. Not enough staff and not enough communication with family members present about the patient's immediate needs--especially since we were there to translate for them, so the language barrier is no excuse. You would think Emergency Department staff would be more accommodating to easing the pain of dying patients, in case they don't make it to being transferred to Palliative Care. Just because somebody is is expected to die that same night (which they knew she was), shouldn't be a reason to forget about them. It almost felt like that nurse in Emergency had an air of "Not my job" attitude when she was bringing in the chart the moment my grandmother was being taken to Palliative Care by another male staff member, apparently forgetting about our request for pain medicine relief for her twice prior, over 2 hours ago. What, did they think I myself or family were going to take the meds (we didn't know if it was going to be pills or injection) itself and get high off it or something? If that was the case, they could have administered it to her right in front of us, like they normally do anyway. I cannot express enough my amount of sheer disappointment in this hospital overall, and the sentiment is shared with other family members that were present there.

Maria Torres

I have had great experiences when I visit your hospital except for a couple of grumpy nurses on the floor, you guys are giving customer service, we don't go there just because we want to be there, we want help, hopefully with a better attitude. My biggest concern is when you call and get "the receptionist" normally, no manners they certainly need coaching and training. I hope you have this changes done soon. Thank you.

Akshitha Anantharajasingam

Great hospital, and excellent care.

this is worst emergency place.my freind got kidney pain he was crying with pain as we reach emergency i ask to one lady nurse over there sitting on computer that what is procedure for emergency check up as i was been there first time she almost shout on me and said can you let me do my work first then come and ask me somthing just go and sig on chair.later other nurse who was making form and taking profile info was more intrested in asking my freind that why you do not hav ur earlier mobile number which is in our record snd why did u change it and my freind was not able to answer her stupid questions due to pain but finaly she told us to go beyond that door and wait for next help but oh wait she forget to open that door and we were waiting outside door when she will open but she was gone from her chair.then finaly again i request the first unprofessional lady who already shouted on me in start, upon my request of opening door she gave me a look and open the door with a terrible deep breath and annoying face. Next again wait inside and finaly one nurse came with as rude behaviour as earlier onse and she put needle in my freind’s hand at wrong place and then she apologise that there was no vein in that place so she has to put that needle in arm now.so i guess nurses are not knowing their work properly. After 4 hrs doctor came and check she was nice and himble though.but i noticed most of staff inside just cheering up,eating, drinking and gossiping and som laughing at patients but does not bother to attend emergency patients. I am wondering how they can run an emergemcy like that.

Worst hospital in Toronto with the worst doctors. My bf has serious life threatening liver infection made him wait 3 days there and in the end his doctor said he has to go to Toronto general hospital because they did all his blood work and tests wrong there…, such a waste and meanwhile waiting there seen such terror how they treat people and make them wait for days in pain. For serious emergency I don’t recommend going there at all

Umid

The Plastic Clinic at the scarborough general hospital is known to be one of the WORST clinics. The wait times are RIDICULOUS. This is my 4th experience and each time i visited, i was either sent home after 2 hours of waiting because the doctor suddenly was called to the OR or waited 3 to 4 hours just to be told to come back and see the other doctor. The hospital really NEED to invest in another doctor in this department. There is one main doctor, Dr Strazar, who is extremely popular because he is the only one that deals with breaks, fractures etc.. This department handles 50 to 100 patients a day. Appointment times get left behind 2-4 hours for each patient. They need to realize there are people who have jobs and responsibilities. You can no longer expect people to wait 4 hours just for a checkup. The staff in this department seem friendly with short temper. When you ask them for updates they give you attitude and expect you to be okay with waiting 3 hours past your appointment time. This will personally be my last time visiting this hospital, even on my worst day. I strongly recommend NOT to visit this hospital. There are many other general hospitals that are much cleaner, nicer, faster & friendlier in the GTA.

The hospital staff treated my mother-n-law with the utmost care and respect on her last few days. She was moved from emergency to a temporary bed and then lastly to a palliative care room. At every step she was made as comfortable as possible. The family was also supported with very attentive staff, offer of grief counseling and lastly a religious priest. The staff were very professional with a level of care I have not seen in many years. My sincere gratitude to the various departments that supported my mother-n-law as well as the extensive family through this very difficult time.

elena leone

Very dated

Mohd Sami

The worst hospital emergency dept its a torture to go here for medical help. The doctor and nurses are arrogant and rude wasted 7 hours waiting and got more pain than what l went with..Useless health care in toronto

Victoria Gomez

Went to the E.R for migraines and ear pain and blurry vision and the only solution they had was that I was “fine” and I should go to my family doctors for head aches and go to my optimitrist for my blurry vision.. that they didn’t have the equipment to treat me. JOKE OF A HOSPITAL.. the doctors or nurse don’t give a ****

Surprize Itsme

Horrible hospital the Covid 19 screens who ask you all these questions are too busy playing on there cell phones in the evening chatting it up with all the staff most of them have no clue what there doing. These people are paid to play. They need a crash course of the visiting polices in reagarding vists... people please beware website says one thing about visting polices when u come in they say no visitors. To avoid any misunderstandings notify your staff and your communications department of any changes. No Air Conditioning in hospital and the Wifi is horrible Ghettos in Nyc have Ac and better Wifi!

E Kerr

I was surprised w the initial care l had in emergency. It was fast and special attention given considering I was having chest pains and numbing on the left arm. BUT staying 3 days in emergency section proved to be a difficult experience: Staff forget patients need quiet to rest and recuperate. It was very difficult to sleep, staff talking quite loudly, carts being pushed, patients moaning, garbage or other stuff being replenished. Let's hope that they become more aware of this oversight. Thank you. Difficulty getting a room continues to be a factor in this incident.

Antonio Vieira

Went Dec 26 at 7:45am. Son had kidney stone. Would like to thank Loraina the er nurse and the blond female dr with curly hair. Professional and caring Thanks ladies

ariel tampol

Too much waiting time.need more doctor especially at night.

Colleen Wnuk

Had the best experience today at Scarborough General Hospital today. Saw the most professional physician’s assistant Lauren. She quickly and efficiently stitched me up and sent me on my way.. top notch care Thank you

Vincent Lee

I was here for an emergency check up and while I was waiting in the emergency room I overheard the doctors and nurses gossiping about patients and saying how they'll purposefully make them wait. My attending physician was confused by my symptoms then proceeded to brush it off and told me to go home and come back when it gets worse. Although the triage nurse said we should definitely check it out, the doctor was more interested in pushing people out. In my case he did the usual touch and poke without any further assessments, and asked if it hurts if he touched there then said it's just a pimple, although the swelling was the size of a fist. At one point they also managed to lose a patient in another room, the head nurse said to call them but the other nurses said she went home and bring in somebody else, lo and behold she came out of the washroom and their attitude did a complete 180. At least the Scarborough health Network keeps the standard that they're known for, if I ever get sick again and or have future complications due to my current condition, I will come.back here in hopes of meeting the same doctor just to see what he will say again, because I haven't had a laugh as good as this one in a long time, granted I live that long due to the shoddy care I received.

Santosh Baral

Ridiculous Covid test report that even mentioned when the result were out. Their mistake cost me 500 bucks as i wasn't able to board plane because of their improper way of presenting Covid result ( by just giving the date of test result, not the time)

Sara Tropiano

Compassion plus from nephrology team of doctors and nurses and icu cannot say enough about "wonderful"

Sophia Mirzad

So rude and so insensitive unprofessional people. You can tell they hire anyone

Yasmin Ali

They've done a great job during covid. Nurses are always friendly

Rebecca Somerville

Very unprofessional doctors. Very rude. Doctors dont talk to each other. .Hospital needs to get into 21st century. Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doung

Several years ago my younger brother & girlfriend were pregnant with healthy, very active twin girls. They went to Scarborough General Hospital because she was experiencing back pain. She was about 7 months along and having an otherwise textbook pregnancy. She and my brother were placed in a room, however the nurse neglected to fasten the transducer around her abdomen, which is standard and monitors the babies heartbeat. My brother’s girlfriend was given medication for her back pain and then the couple was left in that room for hours!!! My brother recalls that they waited and waited with no answers and no indication that anything was wrong. At one point a nurse entered the room, they asked her questions but her answers were vague, she barely made eye contact and quickly left. Finally the young couple was told that their baby girls had died. The staff neglected to use a transducer therefore there was nothing to indicate when the babies went into distress. There was never an apology or explanation from SGH... nothing! The mother delivered her two beautiful girls and then we buried them. Our family is still devastated and without closure. My brother has never recovered. Scarborough Hospitals are deathtraps!

Maria Carneiro

My emergency visit last week was absolutely disgusting and disappointing. After having prostate surgery the day before and being reassured by my doctor if I had any complications to go to the emergency where I would be attended to quickly. Well that was Absolutely not the case, after 3 hours of being in extreme pain and bleeding from my catheter, I was completely ignored and told to wait my turn. I never thought that I would have to beg for assistance. I think a third world country would treat a patient better in emergency. Please make me understand why would our healthcare treat anyone in this manner? Is it lack of staff or have you lost compassion and empathy.

Barbie Dolo

I will ONLY ever come here when its an ACTUAL emergency and I have exhausted ALL options from my GP or the walk in clinic. I arrived at 5:30am this morning chest pains, struggling to breathe, crackling in my chest. Haven't been able to take my diabetes medication for 3 days / missed 6 doses.am completely disoriented and can barely walk. 3 hours later I still sit in the main waiting area beside triage waiting to be called into the ACTUAL emergency room area. I have an extremely compromised immune system and 3 auto immune diseases yet here I sit and wait? I am 99.9% sure I have bacterial pneumonia yet I sit here struggling to breathe. As of now everyone is being called in as order of arrival there is ZERO triage, regardless of the bracelet color or symptoms. Majority of the patients have “flu symptoms and one man needs a refill” yet they are prioritized over me. I advised the triage nurse I fainted twice in 72 hours and I am here alone with no support she was cold and dismissive. If I fainted off the chair NO ONE would see me based on the set up of the wait area. THATS TERRIFYING!!!

Effra H

Hi, my son with high fever waited their 9 hours, during this wait his condition was critical..but the doctor and staff didn't care proper, he was fainted , after 9 hours wait we came back with no preccripion,, this is my 4th experience with Scarborough general hospital, and all of experienced was bad..rude staff .they just talk each other and pass time special night duty staff. Next I will prefer any other hospital from Toronto or Scarborough, but not Scarborough general located at Lawrence....

Feb 6th, 2019. My daughter was asked to come today for an ultrasound at 8am. We requested wheather we can come late because she was tired from two biopsy surgery on her lungs this week. An xray was conducted last night due to her discomfort and the ultrasound was due this morning. We were told to come before 12 noon. We came here at 10.30am, kept waiting after registration. At 12.30 my daughter was called by the doctor, and the doctor was attending the patient without the report, the ultrasound hasnt been done yet. A nurse said it is a mistake and the ultrasound facility is closed, we are suggested to wait, they are looking into it. it is 1.15p. We have been patient so far without any answer. Remember, experience matters! Emadur Rashid.

My wife waited almost 6 hours in emergency due to extreme adominal pains without any medical help. At 730am she called me crying and said "Noone is helping me" . The doctor she saw said they were going to give her something to relieve her pain but nothing after hours of waiting. We decided to go to another hospital ???? instead and when she asked a nurse for help to take out her ivy tube her response was "I don't know who you are" . What a disgrace to call yourself a health care worker. If your hospital doesn't have any emergency doctors don't accept any patients. She was waiting all by herself from 2am onwards causes you don't allow visitors. Horrible staff, do you not have any compassion? Now at NYGH and at least they allow visitors through the check in phase. If you have an emergency do not come to this hospital, it's the worst.

Selena Jackson

This rating goes to the coolest, nicest asians technicians in the X-ray and CT scan area. They directed me and guide me with patience as I’m hearing impaired and was very kind and polite. It was my first time doing a CT scan so I was freaked out, but they made me feel very comfortable. The emergency doctors and especially front coming in was dense. Where are the accommodations?! If someone can hear clear through a mask get a pen and paper. I wonder how deaf people manage?! I was able to hear most and pass but damn have some consideration. I understand the Covid-19 is happening and you need mask and everything, but you must find ways to accommodate EVERYONE. This is Canada. She’s lucky it was me alone because my family would of lost it.

Ruban Jeyarasa

They make people wait like 2 hours to see the patient registration nurse.. even if you really sick it doesn't matter to them. And they chat with other co workers and call whenever they want to then they call it emergency.

BeckNick Roofing

Ubsolutely unprofessional and rude staff at emergency department. I visited this week seeking medical help but was asked to leave with 40 fever. The management must be changed in this hospital.

Connor Shackleton

Very slow service.

amy Zindros

Turns patients away in dire situations. Very unprofessional place. Conduct of some doctors are completely immoral. Not any hospital is perfect, this one is far, far from even being sub par.

Natashia Nwobi

Avoid at all costs! If you need medical attention do not go here! If you want to sit around for countless hours without getting any insight into you health concerns this is definitely the place to be! This hospital is short staffed on doctors and the nurses will sit around chatting to eachother while you are standing at the main nursing station like its not their job to help you! Please save your self the frustration and go to another hospital!

Naturally “Shan” Gems

I wish I could give this place 0 stars at all ugh am so upset???? this place have bed bugs ugh ugh!!!!! Disgusting I haven’t slept for 2 night straight because these bugs are just eating me! Last week Monday I took my son to the emergency for stitches sat there for hours come home and the next day I noticed these redness on my skin I didn’t think of it as nothing until the following night I found a baby bed bug in my bed am so pissed off because I have never had bedbugs in my home and I magically went to this hospital and bring it home, it seems like what ever bed bug came home breed in my bed&couches and I now am seeing these lil ones more now, be very careful where your sitting or else you could be the next victim I just wish I could report this nasty place!!!!!

Brandon Tait

Stay home and take your chances with whatever you have. Wait times of up to 6 hours, no results. Avoid at all costs.

Secreto Fem

I will be filing a complaint with the lack of care I recieved from the negliant nursing staff you employ in your Emergency departmemt. It's obvious from these reviews that their behavior is acceptable. Never will I return here willingly

Rani Jennifer Kaur

Dirtier than an Indian government hospital. 6 hours to be told they can’t tell if my foot is broken or not but better get a walking cast at $$ anyways but no follow up appointments or anything discussed. No pain relief despite asking multiple times. Rude staff, ignorant and discussing confidential information in full hearing of the entire waiting room in the er. Overall, shockingly horrible.

Kathi U

Horrible hospital, staff has not idea of what their doing.

Vinushan Sinnathamby

Its probably a busy hospital considering how people get shot living in Scarborough. Someone told me that some doctors are bad and evil. I'm not saying every doctor is bad but some are. Don't get me mistaken Google Maps.

Kiara Mae Ariado-Nonan

I had a great experience with the entire staff that looked after me when I delivered my baby 2 weeks ago. Contrary to the reviews that I read, the nurses and doctors were very nice and I felt comfortable during my labour, delivery, recovery process. Thank you Arlene & Judith for taking care of me during my labour and delivery. Emily & Grace for taking care of my son and I post-delivery. Dr. Barnwell for being kind and patient and for checking on me on a regular basis and of course for the safe delivery of my baby

V A

This hospital is literally the WORST hospital in Canada . Misdiagnosis, poor service , horrible attitudes, zero attention to detail...and much more. Just read the reviews. Something needs to happen.

Rockwell Jeans

The person who works at the front desk of the ultrasound area is extremely rude and insensitive to patient's needs. I felt like I was insignificant. Also if you ever happen to sit in the waiting room at emergency, look up at the ventilation on the ceiling. It is covered with blankets of dust and the floors are filthy. I can't believe that there are hospitals like this in Toronto. Beware of misdiagnosis from the radiologist there. It happened to me and can happen to you.

MUHAMMAD ALI

I LOVE KRISTEN ARCHER A LOT

Cherry Cheung

My friend's dear grandmother died from septic shock caused by the medical staff. They were trying to get rid of the fluid trapped in her stomach from peritoneal dialysis, but that caused an infection. She stayed at the hospital for 5 months on-and-off until she was innocently robbed of her life through negligence. You can't sue hospitals or doctors more than $100,000 as medical staff are protected with big defence lawyers funded by the government. Can we de-fund this hospital as it is better to DO LESS HARM by closing some units down.

Jaya Vanar

I went with my kids to do the covid test. Staff booking 30 minutes with a patient to do the test. But it won't take 10 to 15 minutes. I don't like the staff in the covid assessment center. Very rude. I don't want to participate any of their charity programs.

Mojtaba Nazari

Worst employees in Canada are working in this Hospital My suggestion to people Never go to this place

John Doe

Receptionist are completely clueless. You ask them one thing and they tell you another. I do not know how they got their jobs in the first place. Some of the workers are nice, but some are lazy and can’t be bothered to do their job duties.

Jason A

People are nice and caring

Dadhi Dahal

Scarborough general hospital doesn't have any drinking water tap for people. If we go to buy water from vending machine, the machines are not working. Staffs are unprofessional. If you pay for private room also the beds for attendant are torn with dirty sports on it. If they can't replace the torn sofa bed atleast they can clean. I guess they are not having inspection for such issues which is health hazardous. I feel that i spent 3 months when i stayed there for 3 days. In birtchmount campus ward covered by ohip are much more better than private rooms in Scarborough general hospital.

Jatin

It's better to die rather than to come to this hospital. Never come to this hospital.

Fardaa

All staff are rude no one is willing to help

Nadia Naylor

My son came here for knee surgery. Exceptional service by EVERY, SINGLE INDIVIDUAL here. Extremely impressed. Really feel the love, care, support and patience from everyone here.

Shameus Sosley

1 star - I assisted a grandparent when we attended emergency—needed xrays, determined surgery wasn’t necessary. Thank you SGH for that. Issues: Triage staff (initial intake nurse) was entering data into the incorrect file on their computer, were I not there the entire visit would have been ruined from the start. Triage staff attempted to shame us for not bringing medication list, however bringing list of meds was unnecessary since another intake staff accessed a pharmacy database to obtain med list. After getting X-rays, we waited for several hours and noticed other patients who arrived after us were getting seen by doctors before we were. We inquired with doctors about the reason for delay and were ignored. Our request to have xrays sent to the family physician were denied, but no reason was provided. At that point, I began surveillance of the visit, to document our experience. We did not appreciate the discrimination we received from Dr. Pinto. So I guess, thank you, Dr. Pinto, for helping my family—even one minute of your expertise made a world of difference for my family member’s health. It seems your department must be under a lot of pressure. However, Dr. Pinto, as you know, if we return to emergency and encounter discrimination against the elderly like that again from you, we will have to revisit the issue at the Human Rights Tribunal.

Gus Desions

I agree stafff is friendly but they need to improve on many things nothing is perfect

AliJ

Waited 1, hour to be triaged in overcrowded E.R. waiting room then computer system for E.R. goes down 3 times within 2hrs nobody got registered into computer and could not be seen until system was up in running. I didn't get seen until 6 hours. I also had to beg for water didn't get any till after 4 hours luckily I had my own bottle I sparing sipped on until it ran out. My blood and samples didn't get taken until 5th hour and nurse had hard time getting blood because I was dehydrated. They wanted me to give some samples but my body couldn't by the 6th hour. I had not eaten any food 7hours straight and only thing I got because I felt weak by time I left was apple juice. They don't give you food. Basically not all tests were completed and I got no explanation or relief. ????Go to another hospital

Juliana Hanna

Scarbrough General is the worst Hospital I have ever been in. They are so rude and no respect for anyone specially seniors. This Hopital need a hole new staff, I will never go there again

Farah Tabibi

What a hospital!! Such rude front desk people!! I cannot even put in words. They are not working for free there and they think we owe them something. Very unhelpful and extremely rude. I am mad beyond measure. I am trying to reach my dad, and I can't and I have asked someone to check his phone in case the ringer is off, and no one is really helping here. The service is horrible!!!!

Priya Thayalan

I am a 12 year old boy and I brought my mom because she had back pain and she can't walk properly there were two doctors that were really rude. The most rude doctor was Danis. When they were getting the medicine they left the room laughing.

Rijita Aryal

Normally I don't write reviews but I thought it would be unfair with me if I don't. I also know that review doesn't really matter to the hospital. This is about my recent visit to ER at Scarborough hospital. My experience with SH has always been nice until I met the doctor yesterday named Lenard Chung. I can't believe this level of unprofessionalism exist in the country like Canada as I never felt this before with any other doctors. Let me make it clear first the doctor didn't even bother to tell his name as he lacks proffesionalism. So I had to ask nurse his name before I left so that I could write this review. I don't know if I spelled his name correct. I saw him on June 25 around 8 45 a.m at ER. I was not able to speak and I could bearly stand due to extreme weakness. I wrote all the necessary points in a piece of paper explaining my situation.I found his tone very rude. He asked me why are you here for, I was washing my hands. I told him give me a moment immediately he said why you here with that unpleasant tone. I gave him the piece of paper I wrote. He said I can't read that 4 pages. That was not even 4 pages. My dr told me to visit ER asap he didn't want to wait even one day more. He also works there but unfortunately he was not there yesterday. So he refused to read my paper. My question is if you don't want to help why are you there at ER?????????? Because I was not in a position to explain. I told him to call my dr. After he spoke with him over the phone he changed his tone and was polite but that wont count. If my doctor wouldn't have send me there he would treat me like a hell with his rude tone for the rest 10 hours. I also gave him the letter given by my family doctor which he completely ignored. He didn't even bother to ask me what's my need is at that time. He ordered tests what my dr told him over the phone. I asked the nurse please give me some fluid I need energy. Later I asked this is not helping please give me some liquid food or glucose at least to survive. She said have to speak with the doctor who came later and said oh I have given you this electrolyte water. You didn't give me anything, I asked the nurse probably you were too busy throwing your rude tone to other poor patients who is waiting outside for help. Not speaking nicely is completely unacceptable. Patients come for help and that's what ER is for and every single patient is supposed to be treated nicely. Other than that nurses has always been polite with me there. Helping and giving life to the patient is a very important thing and that's what the medical profession is all about. If someone don't realize that they are seriously in a wrong profession as this hospital has multiple sad reviews. Thank you.

Farah Ahmed

Worst hospital especially the emergency staff.

Jezzlee

Its really hard to call and ask for help Some of the staff will actually make you feel like they dont want to help you Y'all shouldnt hire people like this hospitals should have employees that cares for patients especially when they're in pain.

natasha navia

Absolute worst waiting time in all GTA... 6 hours for xray results. Disgusting

Rehana Nisar

doctors are way too slow took me 9 hours to get the pain medicine. no body even care about patients.

kristina Christina

The worst hospital ever! After having a miscarriage in this hospital I almost died because they don’t have nurses and doctors enough! And the nurses that they have I have no idea how they got that diploma they don’t know anything! They see you almost passing away and they tell you I will came back after 30 min! I think that the gaverment should see what is going on and should definitely do something about this! The hospital should provide you nurses and doctors and not just a bed!

me he

You'll die before getting served here, 45 min to get called then, 30 min to register, am still here waiting 2h and 12 min later am now waiting in a room.

T K

Expect 4+ hr wait times and 4 doctors max. My visit only had 1.

Jay Huang

The ER of this hospital is like a joke. I almost died because of the unprofessional treatment I got. They kept asking me why I came here. I waited 6 hours and the doctor finally came and spoke to me for 2 mins and sent me home. My infections got much worse and I had to go to another ER in DT. Because the doctors at Scarborough General Hospital are so rude and unprofessional, I developed really severe infections and had to spend 7 days in the DT hospital, suffering from so much pain that you can't imagine. I would have died, if I listened to the careless doctor at Scarborough General and stayed at home. They thought I got covid. How stupid is that.

Tharshi G

Be careful going to this Hospital! Make sure you know what your loved one is being prescribed and taking the right medication. They put my dads HEALTH CARD as DECEASED when they transfered him to rehab. When the Rehab sent him back to the hospital stating that he needs to be in the hospital due to numerous complications, this hospital refused to take him in emergency stating that his health card was INVALID when my dad was at this same hospital a few days before being transfered to rehab by this same hospital. Me and my mother ran around to service Ontario to rectify the situation since my dad is a CANADIAN CITIZEN and i was born and raised in Toronto so there was no need for his health card to be INVALID. We then found out that the Scarborough General hospital statused by dad as DECEASED before sending him to REHAB when they shouldnt have sent him there in the first place with his condition. My dad died a few days after due to the neglience of the DOCTORS and NURSES at this hospital. I have numerous evidence showing how unprofessional this hospital is. The nurses gave the wrong medications and are negligent in taking care of the patients as they are educated to. My dad died in this hospital, he went through a lot due to the Over dosages of medications. The doctors and nurses asked my mother on numerous occasions what was wrong with my dad when they had reports they can review but refused to understand their patients and needs. Please take your loved one to a more professional hospital, this is one hospital i regret taking my dad to.

Nahida Nargis Akter

Worst hospital in Canada. They don't even care enough to do the bare minimum. The nurses are negligent especially in the ICU unit where you need the most care. This hospital won't cure your loved ones, they will misdiagnose them. Doctors and nurses give you attitude are very unprofessional. If you care about your loved ones, please read the negative reviews because that is the truth of this hospital. Please take your loved ones to a better hospital if you don't want to lose them because of the negligent staffs here!

Sasa Batina

Thank you to everyone for taking amazing care of my mom! The staff is absolutely outstanding. Doctors and nurses alike. Special thanks to nurse IRENA for bridging the language barrier. BLAGODARIME!

VC C

I have only had positive experiences in the emergency and the rest of the hospital. This review is about Dr. Jugdeo who was a children's doctor around 2009. I dont know if he still practices but I hope he doesn't. He is the reason for childhood trauma. Upon further reflection through therapy that my daughter had to go through he was part of the problem. He would always tell her that she needs to do this or that in order to be healthy. But he never explained how to do it or what resources were available. I am not a doctor nor am I a health care professional. I too did not know the proper resources or outreach that was available for her. But every month for her check in she would dread seeing him because that meant it was time for him to ridicule her for not being able to uphold/maintain his expectations. As a parent I wanted to help my child. I went to him for help. All he did was criticize her. There was no plan or constructive feedback. It was always, oh just go for walks and she will lose weight. My child is active. Unfortunately its in her genes that she is on the heavier side despite being enrolled in multiple sports. This went on for years. I just wish my child to me sooner. So take away from this, make sure your doctor is giving you adequate resources to help you once you leave the office. He was not a nice man nor did he do his part in explaining how to do things to benefit my child. I should have asked questions but I am just as lost as my child was. Like I said, I am not in health care.

Bensmite Herro

Canada's "free health care" aka if you cant survive 6hours waiting in the waiting room, then thats on you. and thats PRE-COVID. This Hospital contains 15 security, 18 useless staff standing around the entrance asking you covid questions, 12 nurses(2 of them are actually efficient). and 1 doctor that needs to drain their eggplant for 5 hours before their ready to see the next patient. thats the whole story on the Canadian Free "Healthcare"

Radha Venkatesan

Staff are good and efficient. Extend the required help to new patients. One feels comfortable in such friendly environment . Keep it up guys. You are doing great job in these pandemic period

I think if you end up here for emergency, be prepared to be told off or die. The nursing staff is so so rude. I went in here to seek help for my son, we waited 6 hours. In that time I witnessed the triage nursing staff insult and demean almost all patients including myself. Especially one nurse who proclaimed at every patient she was doing us a favour because she is supposed to be on break. A man with a burn asked for ice for his face and she basically told him to leave her alone and that she doesn’t take abuse from clients. He only asked for ice for goodness sake. He then got up and left and stated that this hospital was rude and one should be prepared to die because no one helps. He was so right. I understand nurses and doctors are overworked and generally all hospitals are under staffed. But kindness, or even being civil to one seeking help shouldn’t be debatable. The doctors I dealt with were amazing and kind. So I can’t say all bad things. I also had the unfortunate pleasure of going back today and the admissions people called security on me because I wanted to go with my mom to make sure she was registered okay. She is an elderly woman. Anyways, I went in anyway, they called security and the security guard was so nice. He said I understand how you feel completely. Such bs policies here and rude staff.

Thank you for all the Nurses and Doctors that took WONDERFUL Care of me A million thanks. You guys are super heroes. Batman and spiderman have nothing on you.????????

I had a septoplasty about a month ago here. Because of covid no one was allowed to stay with me before surgery and the wait time was about 2.5 hours. But all staffs and nurses were very caring and assuring. One of the nurses helped me put on my shoes because I could bleed if I looked down. When my family came to pick me up, my nurse waited until she could safely put me in my car. I did not expect such care. Hats off to these amazing people!

My hand was injured at work and I got many stitches put on my hand after waiting 6 hours in the waiting room. I asked the nurse to fill out the WSIB form for my work and asked to have a day or two off because I am in a lot of pain and my work is very dangerous. He said ok and wrote things down and when I got out I read it and he wrote that I can return to work IMMEDIATELY. He wrote I can do anything and there is nothing wrong with me. He even tested my hand and saw that I CAN'T make a fist and I CAN'T bend my finger but I guess I'm OK!! Two days later I had a "Plastics" appointment and I went in waited 3 hours and when the doctor saw me she did not touch, look, or ask me anything, she looked at his note, A NURSE'S NOTE, and she said "Oh your fine I'll see you next week to remove your stitches." I said I can't even move my hand and my fingers and she said, "Oh no your fine cause your finger is straight." What does that have to do with anything? My finger is not what is injured! Such incompetent morons that get paid WAY TOO MUCH. I was so shocked that this is the healthcare they are SO PROUD OF.

I would never go to this hospital again! Worst experience ever!

50-50 Impression. When I had a knee injury last 2015 and went to their emergency section, the doctor and two of the nurses were nice and accommodating...while the other two slacker and rude nurses left for their breaks and only made one of the nurse man the counter. One of them even took away the wheelchair from me and wanted me to walk it off despite the pain. Long story short, my left knee is still not strong now that it's 2017. 6 months ago, my grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer due to old age. She was accommodated very well and they sent mostly the nice nurses to take care of her needs. She passed away but was taken care of properly.

Alexis Marley

one of the doctors ****** me up good. tell me how I had a cyst and he put the needle to freeze me and didn't wait for it to kick in and began operating. worst experience ever.

Khadija Chowdhuary

Recently, I gave birth to a baby girl. when i was in the labour room, from 9 am, nurse Sonia was with me until my delivery which lasted about 9 hours! We had a good time with her. She's very nice and we really appreciated her help. Thanks to sonia my delivery went well.

Rebecca

You'll die of you come here for an emergency. Staff don't care at all, go to another hospital!

After weeks of attempting to get an appointment with the oncologist, dr. Krieger, I finally get one, find the clinic in the hospital after asking several staff members, once I get there and register, a nurse tells me I must at leave because I don’t have the right kind of mask on, at this point I’ve been I’ve been in the hospital for an hour now, so I’m told to leave, not one other employee told me my mask was not acceptable and they offered zero resolution besides, here’s a number to call, patient relations, whom I was previously calling for weeks with no answer or return call

Shemil Hashan

This is the worst hospital I have ever seen. They have not provided me a good service, they did not give me details on what happened with tests and sends bills to me after 3 months of the incident. I could not even claim insurance because of that.

RP

Incompetent. Pharmacy lady told that Amoxil for 7 yo wasn't covered under OHIP, despite doctor telling us that it was. We got it from a pharmacy outside and it WAS covered. Earlier, emerg doctor told us he won't treat kids chest/cough issue as it was more than 4 wk old, but will only treat his ear infection.

Shishir Shams

Writing this review from my dad’s phone just to say that if you come here, you will die. Doctors and nurses are so unprofessional and they make unprofessional comments like “are you playing games with me”. They kept my dad without an oxygen mask from 1am-6am and he wanted to live but the nurses were “busy” which caused him to pass away. Please go to a better hospital. I hope one day these nurses and doctors face challenges like this and don’t get the help they need due to someone’s negligence. Only then they’ll understand what it feels like to lose a loved one. Worst hospital in Canada hands down.

Elaine Cheng

My father is having dialysis in the hospital. Most of the staff are nice, but the division manager, Betty Choy. I don’t understand why she could be a nurse without ethic and empathy. How can the hospital hires a person who doesn’t respect human life as a nurse. I don’t think she is qualified to be a.human. I just realized that I got the feedback from the owner which asked me to contact the patient relations. I really did and Janice and Ethel in the department are working very hard to push me to admit something which I have never done. I have never talked to Ethel,The Director of patience relation. He sent me out of the hospital without listening my experience at the first time I met him. I think they should change the department name as Breaking Patient Relations.

Alex Cho

They handled our COVID Vaccine and were great at it. Smooth and clear

MD Jahangir

They belittle you if you are elderly. My friend had a south Asian ER doctor that spoke to his grandma like a baby because of the language barrier. Document all the interaction with this hospital. They have lots of death by doctor malpractice. Malpractice is hard to prove in Ontario and you only get $100K payout. Take a private ambulance to North York general or Sunnybrook. This hospital needs to be defunded because it kills more people staying in operation than being closed. Health care professionals are below competent at best. This hospital ranks #71 in Canada. Pathetic waste of tax money.

Waqas A

Rude staff and long lines

John C

Offer no cold water to drink after a major surgery. The nurses are extremely rude. I would not recommend this hospital to do anything. Please shut this place down.

Paul Hemmings

Needs more Rooms and Faster Service!!! Otherwise they treat you well.

Our Mom has been admitted to this hospital several times and have been given the best care most of the time until recently. Two and half weeks ago our mom Adelina Laurente was taken in to Scarborough General Hospital for Pneumonia ( currently she's still in there for further tests). While everyone has been wonderful in taking care of her condition especially the nurses and the doctors we are very unhappy of how the cleanliness and the maintenance of her room is being handled. For a patient who has had difficulty breathing due to lung infection- her room's condition has been very filthy and dusty - it hasn't been cleaned for at least 3 days. The cleaning attendant's excuse... it's cumbersome to clean someone's room wearing a mask and a gown due to my mom's condition. Really?? As her caregivers, we her daughters try very hard to assist our patient's physical and emotional need - after all, who wants to stay in a hospital if anyone could help it.? I could have given this hospital a 5 for the phenomenal care my mother have received from the doctors and nurses in CP4 Level but I will give it a 4 due to poor maintenance and cleanliness of my Mom's room. -- no. 486. Special mention to the student nurse Nadia Hardy who has been very attentive to our mother's needs and care. Thank you for all that you do and to everyone that looked after our Mom Remarie Laurente, Sally Laurente, Patient's Name: Adelina Laurente Level CP4 Room 486

Wait time at the Maternity centre is always high. Even if you come here for an emergency you have to wait for minimum 2 hours.. this is not just for one time in my experience ???????????? reason lack of staff that’s what they keep telling

Tami Hokij

As you see from low ratings and i experienced this hospital one of the worst hospital ever, including the emergency center ! Really surprised how they don’t investigating this hospital from government !

tazim sadia

Absolutely unprofessional and rude people working in the Emergency department. Worst hospital in the GTA. Staff has enough time to talking their vacation places among themselves while an emergency patient suffering waiting to get someone help. And these people apparently don't care.

A J

Scarborough General is a terrible hospital. The people there just don't care. They work to pay their bills. The workers only care about the people they like, everyone else is treated like trash.

Raptorz416

I had a knee surgery done. All of the nurses and doctors were so nice and they took care of me really well. It felt like a 5 star resort where everyone went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I might need to injure myself again just to deal with the staff haha

Husnia Hussainy

Very low service and rude employees

Melanie B

Just want to say thanks to the doctors and nurses at Scarborough General Hospital who took such good care of my husband today. The service was exceptional. He went in with a massive headache, which has been on and off for the last 7 days, and they wasted no time checking on him. Thank God the CT scan was normal and we can rule out all the worst possible outcomes. Just need to monitor and treat accordingly. The care was there. Thank you.

Jose Samchez

As growing up I had to attend SGH many times due to sport injuries, doctor appointments, ER visits etc. I have also had a surgery at this hospital. My experience here has always been amazing and never had any issues. Good doctors, clean hospital, friendly staff and easy to navigate in the hospital.

Anne Cresswell

I had great treatment from the emergency department.Yes, the waiting room was extremly busy, but a lot of people were that, that didnt really need to be there. A lady was there talking sbout what kind of bandage they would give her(regular or butterfly), that they could have bought at the drugstore. Once i went thru triage, i was treated extremely fast, and with kindness. Yes, when i got admitted to a room, i did find it could have been better, but remember that this is not a hospital The nurses did tge best they could, i found them understaffed

Red Dwarf

When Something Goes Wrong: As you read this, remember your Doctor now, was a drunk partying spoiled entitled brat in school that now thinks they are a flawless superior human that can talk down to you mortal idiots. > It's not when things luckily go right, but rather, how things are handled when things go bad that is the real test. This hospital fails that test. From absurdly long wait times (due to the process, not short staff or budgeting) to grossly negligent misdiagnosis (Doctors with such big egos they never admit they were wrong and need to change a treatment), when things go wrong, you are screwed. That's the medical term for coming here; screwed. That's what happens when upper management has no consequences to their poor performance and when Doctors (Gods) are only concerned with covering up their negligent habits.

Angeliki Kalivas

The worst hospital I think I have to file a complaint and go to the top

AKADIR BULSEN

Terrible service, careless workers... I had hearing loss problem couple years ago and paramedics took me to scarborough general. It was a terrible experince. And the dr gave me medicine to stop vomiting. And referred an ear specialist who was on vacation and he knew that he was on vacation. He told me that it would take at least two weeks to see the dr. And when you search HEARING LOSS on google all articles say that the first days and hours even minutes are critical. As a result, either that dr was not a dr, or I can be much more knowledgable just with google search, or he doesn't care. And I think the reality is, most of them don't care... Let me mention about other employees as well. When I was on the paramedic bed. I was watching the nurse who was measuring blood presure etc. She was wearing those nice disposable gloves and touching to the garbage can, not changing her gloves. I saw that and when I got surprised she recognized that she touched two more times looking at me. Just like saying "yes, I do. What are you gonna do. You are in my hands." and, they took me inside, there is another huge waitin room there as well. The nurse was extremely rude to patients. And then an young dr came to me. He did some movements holding my head. asked some questions and said that his manager ( or supervisor, I don't remember how he named him) should see me. And after a long wait and praying about nurse to be busy somewhere else instead of bothering me as well.... TA TAAA! The "senior Dr." arrived. And subscribed "medicine to stop vomiting" I said I have sudden hearing loss and asked about his idea. He had no clue. He wrote a referral to ENT specialist and said that it would take at least two weeks to get appointment. I asked if they didn't have any ENT specialist on duty in the hospital. He looked at me just like I asked for elephant in a grocery store. And said "no, we can't get one now!" I think we have to push politicians more to get appropriate health service. Otherwise those guys and the regulatory people, senior regulators etc will be dancing together while we suffer. They don't want to step on each other's toe. So everybody is happy accept the patients!... And they are not so important, since they don't have power, time and opportunity to do something them anyway. There are lots of good dr and nurse immigrants and they can be used to make the system work much better. They can be used for pre-assessment, ongoing support, health consultancy, patient follow up etc... If the reason of putting barriers at front of them is to protect patients from wrong treatments, I don't think they can do worse than most of the existing ones. So we discourage new immigrant professionals even "discard" them and end up having this service from this kind of doctors and nurses. If it can be called as a service!...

FL TC

Gave birth to both my boys there. Great experience ????

Chris Chan

Waited 3 and half hours in the emergency department, the one who needs treatment is my 95 year old father. Have seen patients who came after us went in for treatment first. They said their system was down so everything is manual. In the nurse room there is nobody there. Tried to ask the doctor who came out to call another patient in and he said system is down, everything is manual and he does not know who had my father's file. The end result, of course, we left and went to Scarborough Grace thd next day

Selina McKenzie

This hospital is a joke I've never seen unprofessional nurses in my life shut it down

R Star

There were 3 people ahead of us in emerge but the one and only Triage nurse was busy chatting coming and going. No check in system. If you don’t speak up you lose your turn. The admissions staff were missing in action. There were nearly zero cars in parking lot yet we waited 1 1/2 hour just to be seen by triage. Poorly organized, under staffed, and generally disorganized hospital.

Craig Beatty

The nursing staff and doctors have been very helpful and courteous, my mother in law has been in for quite a while and they are taking great care of her. They have also been very prompt to let us know if there have been any issues that we should know about and quick to make suggestions for her recovery.

Vickey Sengupta

This is the worst hospital ever. Everything is awful from the service to the building. It's a hell hole. It should be call Scarborough Hellhole Hospital. Terrible.

Albert Pun

If there is a zero star Scarborough General will get it all..call 20 times forn2 hrs to get an appointment for ultrasound no one answer the phone .. Now I know where our tax dollars go.. Very disgusted with the health care program with this hospital and they want donation ? Sorry it won't happen

Alice D.G

The wait time was ridiculous i waited 3 hours after waiting 2 hours i asked how much longer and they tell me they dont know they should at least be able to tell us how much time were going to waste waiting

Colleen Walker

Great hospital and staff!

Catarina Costa (TheCCosta)

I would give 4.5 stars out of 5! Visited for a small procedure and all the staff was amazing. The wait at registration was about 20 minutes, which was great for the amount of people in the waiting room. All the nurses were very kind and helpful and made me feel welcomed. I’m so used to grumpy nurses that this was a great experience. This is also one of the only hospitals where I’ve only had to be poked once for an IV / Blood Work! I also noticed it was clean and tidy! Compared to the hospital closest to me, this hospital was immaculate!

Rizz karmal

Parking (9/10) Staff (9/10) Services (8/10) Professionalism (9/10) Waiting time (7/10) Wifi facility (6/10) Entertainment facility (7/10) Hygiene and cleanliness (10/10) I visited the green elevator department. The staff was so helpful that they teach you everything related to new born so nicely with patience. We stayed for 2 days. The doctors visited as per the need where as the nurses were always keeping a good eye and proper care. We had good experience with Tara, christiana and many other staff whose names i cant recall. The hospital does New born circumcision for which they cahrge 350 CAD. Out of that 150 CAD is to be paid in cash to the doctor and 200 CAD for the hospital to cover up the cost of equipment and supplies. We were referred here by our family doctor Dr Will and she also is a part of the team in the hospital. Overall it was a very good and memorable experience. Due to covid 19 there are restrictions for visitors. So if you are alome with no other family members please get all your stuffs at once. The staff allows you to pick up stuff from the pick up area but doesn't allow you to go out and get it.

Lyn Wallis

I was uncertain about this hospital as I had heard mixed reviews. But I am very happy that I chose to have my baby here. The staff was beyond amazing! They did everything and more to make our stay great. Very positive and supportive doctors and nurses. This helped make smooth transitions from labor to delivery to caring for my newborn and to going home. Thank you!!

Dora

One of the worst hospital ever. She was in Scarborough bcs of that she ambulance took her there. Otherwise I never ever go. Someone told today if we want to die we shoukd go to there. After die only they do start service. My daughter came by ambulance with bad stomach flu. She was with cuvier pain. They said only one dr. This exactly Was their treatment. What a service. Ppl r waiting hours and hours they were just talking and laughing. They didn't care about anyone. I went somany emergencies never met nurses as these. This have to take an action. May 22nd night shift emergency nurses have to learn how to talk with patients and how to work in emergency. Ppl who sitting with us saw how my daughter screamed in pain the way nurses ignorance. Noone can't talk to them bcs they are controlling there. I want someone conduct me i will explain this poor service each and everything. I am not the one who was upset seeing my daughter, all who were watching my daughter too. I had same stomach flew. I told dr. I said i almost died. I am so scared the way my daughters pain, dr told you didn't die bcs of that you are here. What a answer of dr. That kind of mean nurses and dr. So so so disappointed. Patients r not salves. They can't treat as this. I always have big respect of drs and nurses bcs of their job. All can't do it. But these ppl r not. If one person we can forgive. Most of them who deal with us r so rude and mean After my daughter's pain she asked bed. Bcs she couldn't sit. They didn't even give bed. Hands were frozen. Shaking . I really got scared . ....i lived in 3rd world country they never treated as this. After my daughter ask can she leave bcs We want to go other hospitsl. They said we don't stop anyone go home. That kind of rude nurses. After we left to other hospital. Omg what a service there. They treated so well. We told all what happened in there. I am brown. Lots of Srilankans Indians they don't talk much. Language barriers too. These nurses talk to them very rude in attitude to them. I know this. They did same to me. Very racist. Pls conduct me I will explain the way they treated .

Dec 30 2021 93 year old mom in for respiratory infection. Had camera phone in room FOUR EAST cuts off every few minutes with free internet. which deliberately turned off ,covered sometimes; nurse says you don't need to monitor. Do you not trust us. ? Well no ,do not monitor mom often. oxygen prong fell out several times , did not notice as are elsewhere. the O2 hose came out of wall. could not find callbell as has dementia. desk did not answer just rang and rang early in the morning. Mom called out for cold water 20 times but no one heard, When did get through they had no thickener on floor but did call to another floor for it. But how can not have thickener if have 93 year old who needs it because of prior strokes.? Water is a basic necessity and SHOULd be available at all times to those who can drink. give basic care at slow pace .one must wait or sometimes get nothing. not prepared to give extra food or water to elderly who have dry throats pleghm and reduced kidney function.en told this. Not assisted at breakfast even though careplan in LTC says need extensive help feeding and only left hand works and nurse ignore me or could not hear me when told. charge nurse I called said they want them to try on own but this is sheer neglect and they should be charged by the police for it. Left to fend for herself. Dec 31 Again no help at all to eat, could not eat yogurt because was not repositioned and dementia would not let process asking for help. right arm now hurts because left too long squished in corner on her right arm. Very insensitive to needs of the dementia elderly 93 , get paid but don;t seem to care, as long as food is dropped and taken away and meds given they get paid anyway. If patients get better is a combo of luck, destiny and band aid nursing.

dhivya nathaniel

My fiancee is currently admitted in this hospital since 11.30 pm in the night complaining of sever abdominal pain and was found to have multiple kidney stones. Upto this point (3pm) - a surgeon has not seen him. To decide on further treatment. And this is emergency care ! What kind of pathetic standard of treatment is this ??? By now a surgeon or a senior level doctor should have seen him and decided on surgery or laser therapy. But they keep giving him morphine and saline. Hasn't eaten since last night either. Very annoyed at this pathetic level of service.!

Mithila Biswas

Service is extremely terrible!!! Nurses are so careless and ignorant. If you ask them...is it my xray report came?..without checking your file they will answer you with their attitude!..No!!! Seriously, this is not right at all! People don't mind to donate unless their behavior changed.

Basma Shamli

Great experience
