We offer you the feddbacks of people who know the services of Scarborough Health Network Foundation (SHN Foundation) (Hospital) in Scarborough area (Canada).
At the moment the business receives a rating of 2.6 out of 5 and the rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is average, neither too high nor too low, and it's based on a large number of reviews, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is very credible. If people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital corresponds to the category of Charity.
Absolutely horrible service. Waited in xray waiting roonfor 2 hours and afterwards I got up to ask how how much longer only to find out that they forgot about me. Came in with multiple cuts and bruises and nurses didnt do anything about it. I had to ask for alcohol swabs and hydrogen peroxide to clean it myself. Horrible service with escessive waiting, would not reccomend unless you're dying and you can't go to any other hospitals.
My grandmother was taken from Kennedy Lodge Nursing home to emergency on Tuesday for dehydration symptoms. Yesterday morning doctor said her vitals were good and her dehydration symptoms were minimizing. By around 6:30 p.m. just as my brother entered her room, my grandmother took her last gasp for air. He said her oxygen tube was under her head. What the hell??? He went to the nurse station and explained what happened. Nurse told him “your grandma stopped breathing an hour ago” What the hell??? Either these nurses have not passed there course or the workers in the hospital disgustingly don’t care!!! My grandma most likely was struggling for air like over an hour and nobody called code BLUE?! No one should have to die this way. From the moment I stepped into this hospital I could sense and feel the coldness of the atmosphere. Advice, if you want to live drink green smoothies, but if you want to die, just go there.
Most nurses I encountered at the emergency were rude (must had been a busy morning). The doctor I saw was very professional and polite.
They purposely make it hard for people to book a covid test.
I went to SGH for my cough (it was a very bad one). I pee when I cough, and been having chills and fever for more than a week. During my assessment at the ER, the doctor (or intern) was assessing me for this and that, asked me how long it was etc etc. I was with my boyfriend that time, so he kept asking if I had my period (thrice) and I kept telling him, I am currently having it. Then he took my temp (which was a mistake in my part because I recently had acetaminophen) hence, it was normal. He finally told me I was fine and I did not have anything. I insisted Ive been having headache, and fever and was not feeling well (and I did not think it was just a seasonal flu either. I think i'd know from the background I have) So I asked if I will be advised for an xray (I mean I totally get it if they didnt want to) But he looked irritated and said he'll call the resident doctor to have a check on me. He. was. rude. Like dude, I know how stressful it is to work in the ER. Ive been there but come on, why show it to your patients? If you dont like it, then quit.. Anyway, So the doctor checked me, and he said Im fine, It "looks" like I caught a flu. etc etc.. I was sent home. the following day, I decided to go to my family doctor because I was really not feeling great. My fever gets very high, I pee when I cough, I feel very weak and I feel my joints ache. My FD told me after that I sound like I have chest infection and she can hear gurgle/ crackling (I couldnt remember now) sound. And asked me why I decided to have a check up late. I told her I went to SGH to have a check but I was sent home. She asked if meds were prescribed and I said No. (Gave me the look) So she prescribed me antibiotics. After a week, I recovered and went back to work. I am making this review just now after a year of my experience. Why? Because I wanna share it. I still will go back to SGH and looking forward to meet better staff than the one who handled my first visit there. I do believe the hospital does not reflect the entire staff. But I sure hope not to get a second set of awful experience.
I'm literally sitting in emergency right now and there is no order or organization. The nurse on duty is extremely ignorant. No one is being checked in, 1 nurse to 20 people. One guy said he feels like he having a heart attack and she did nothing. She asked me my symptoms and expected me to share them with 20+ people. I'm even seeing what the EMS workers are saying and they are saying this hospital is brutal. This place gets zero starts. How can your employers treat people who are sick and in pain I'm such a manner?
What a horrible group of people. Condescending, belittling, and egotistical. I went in for problems during urination. I knew I had a UTI. I had binged water all day, as directed by TeleHealth, and then went to Emerge. The blood and urine tests came back negative. I was told by the doctor I could have an ultrasound "if it would make [me] feel better", but otherwise everything is fine. They would send the urine for a culture, but the likelihood of a positive was "like one in a million", the doctor said. I was discharged and told to deal with the pain with ibuprofen. Culture came back positive! OH WOW...surprise. They call me to give me a prescription, even though I had said a bunch of times that antibiotics make it go away for a month, but the UTI always comes back. So I said no to the prescription, also because of money. Symptoms get worse so I call back Emerge less than 12 hours after they called offering the prescription. I ask for the prescription I was offered. The receptionist starts to judge me: "Oh so...you were just called to get a prescription, but you said 'No.' and now you want it?" Horribly run. In-and-out-as-fast-as-possible kind of mentality. Who knows if I still have a kidney infection! Too bad they didn't trust my understanding of my body enough to know I had a UTI, and probably my pain in my kidney was real then too!
Service is perpetually slow. It'll take you about an hour to get your vitals checked, regardless of how many people are there even if your the only one waiting. The environment is ok, rooms ok, cleanliness, etc... The wait will probably silently kill you inside, if not literally.
I went to emerge a few days ago due to a mental health issue. I went on a Tuesday morning, and I had a fantastic experience. My nurses and doctors were all incredible and treated me incredibly well. Special shoutout to Joanne for being the best nurse I've ever had the pleasure of having! Definitely recommend, although I heard their psychology unit isn't the greatest and they will try to refer you elsewhere.
Catty C Over a year ago, I have surgery there, off course every Hospital was busy, specially in the Emergency Dept Thirty years ago I bring my son to the Hospital in Scarborough, we were waiting from 2:00 am until 5:00 am Nowadays, should be even worst, due to the population increased a lot. We already have a very good Health Care System in Ontario Canada. We don't have to pay a lot of money just pay parking
I went to the EllesmereSHN COVID clinic today and had pathetic experience from extremely unprofessional staff there , I had my appointment at 6:30 and till 7:15 I was there explaining that I m working in which clinic and with these drs but I think they were not interested, it was total waist of time. I left that place at 7 :15 . I exactly don’t know the name of staff but for me they are extremely unprofessional and rude . Kindly hire some good staff for COVID vaccine clinic who atleast can read properly and able to differentiate first and last names of drs. Tayyaba Ahsan
I broke my leg in a skateboarding accident and went to the ER here. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS waiting time. 2 hours + on a broken leg. Doctors were Amazing and reliable. My surgery went fine, until after I had nurses treating me. I had a cast removal 2 WEEKS after surgery. Just a bit too early for that. I had to come back a few weeks later because the wound REOPENED. Are you kidding me?! Now I've got a minor infection in my leg hoping for the best because of this place. They prescribed me medication I was ALLERGIC to. (Medication containing Penicillin). By far one of the worst experiences and hospitals I've been to my whole life.
The most humiliating, uncompassionate experience I've ever had to endure. Take exceptional care out of your mission statement as it is a lie. Your xray techs hurt me worse than my injury and left me crying, abandoned in a hallway. I have a shoulder broken in 4 places. Your nurses and paramedics were whining and complaining about patients In public. After 6 hours doctor said no surgery, here 's morphine go home. I left in just a bra, trackpants, blanket, sling and slippers crying in the rain. Not 1 staff member offered to help me and I passed many including security. Don't you dare send me a donation form.
the scarborough hospitais are useless...they do not book you for diagnostic tests when requested by a docter....waiting for more than two months......phone system no good....you can not get through....even waiting an hour
I don't know about others but we had a great memorable experience. My wife delivered our first baby here. All the nurses are so kind and they were really helpful. We have seen masked superheroes only in movies. But these people are real heroes. Due to covid they have to follow some restrictions but that is for our own good and for them as well. Wearing masks all the time and providing service with smile...hats off to the nurses and doctors there.
Most of the doctors are great, nurses could be a bit less grumpy. Even the doctors seem to be walking around on egg shells with them. Go to Scarborough Grace...their in a way better mood up there!!!
One of the worst hospital Been to in my life. Had the flu very bad fever was very high. Went to the doctors office two days in a row the second day the doctors office decided to send me an ambulance to the hospital because temperature was too high. instead of getting compassion by the doctor seeing I can barely walk Felt shaky and puking.she gave me a lecture on why I shouldn’t come to the hospital to have the flu. Well excuse me for being sick. The doctors office and ambulance drivers didn’t seem to have an issue with me going. what’s the point of paying taxes if they make you feel guilty for going to the hospital ?
Great doctors, treated both my mom and dad with expert care and kindness. Different surgeons and different anesthetists but great both times. Nurses may have some rude ones but also seem very understaffed.
Went to ER on 22nd dec 2016 around 2:45 pm firstly white trial nurse so rude and mannerless she ask me to stay in the door and tell me the reason for coming to the hospital I showed her where I had pain she didn't even look at it but i thought she note it but when the other nurse ask me later and I told her I've pain radiates here too she was unknown coz it wasnt in the note also she didn't note so many things I've told her.. so weird..and I went inside for doctor waiting and there was another black nurse for a blood work so rude she prick and Didn't even tape it so I asked for it coz the blood was flowing over she told me you not gonna die ????just for asking to tape it..really rude and meany. Not professional at all I've never seen this rude nurses in Canada. ????????????????
They have been calling me for the past 5 months EVERY OTHER DAY, no one talks when I pick up, voice mail is a person leaving the phone there and not talking. I called back and the person said they cannot find out anything for me. I blocked the number and they call back on another number. You guys are ridiculous.
Disgraceful A & E . the blood lab is okay the ambulance people are great the emergency staff and nurses are horrible. Rude and slow . Why become a nurse if your a rude un-empethethic add hole?
basically a mixture of indifference and horrible incompetence, the fact that these clowns sent a letter asking for charitable donations just boggle's the mind. We understand the staff is functioning as best they can with gov't cutbacks and …
This review is for the Rouge valley location. My 95 y.o. gramma went to emergency by herself complaining of abdominal pain (and, she never complains). She was an active volunteer with a razor sharp memory. The attending physician in the ER didn't do any labs, pronounced her "constipated" and promptly sent her home. The next morning she was in a coma due to renal failure and was hospitalized. Because she was so far gone, she had to live her remaining 6 years with no memory, no cognitive function, a concomitant broken hip and hip replacement, and severely diminished quality of life. Doctors are known for being ageist, especially when the elderly are admitted alone, but I want RVHS to know they ruined a perfectly great life and I'm so sad over this.
I was born here, and apparently, the doctor cut too deep; it left a huge scar on my left leg. Thankfully it did not reach muscle. Worst of all we didn't sue them, because we didn't know and we were new to Canada. The incident was sweep under the carpet, with a few apologies.
Scarb gen is THE worst place for emerg. They dont care about you one bit. The doctors are super helpful once they get into the room but the mood the nurses and office helpers are in are always the ones setting you off. Ive delievered both my kids here. The baby areas are fine. Pediatric isnt even that great. My son has gastro and the idiots there recommending my 2 yr old in pain get a speech therapist. I hate going here for emergencies. They need new staff who care about their damn jobs. Keep the doctors. Lose the attitude filled females. Some of these women behave as if when we come in and pay for things that theyre entitled to act and behave a way. God forbid something happen to them and need to go for themselves. Oh but i forget.. theyre entitled right? This place is a frikkin joke. I went in today for a really bad case of food poisoning im on day 4.. i havent gotten any prescriptions as the doc said if im starting to get over it let my body do it on its own which is understood. He also said if it starts again you need to come back. I made a phone call and the witch is on the phone like "ok but why, just do what he said" Um i am but im calling to prevent the wait and attitude.
Worst hospital I've ever been to. Slowest hospital, slowest nurses and doctors. I waited at 1am and left at 7am and 5 of those hours I was waiting for a doctor. When the doctor came in all they said was that they're gonna give me water and a "Tylenol" like I couldn't have done that myself if it wasn't so bad. The nurse who was taking my blood was horrible, she was rough and aggressive and pulled my arms multiple times. My mom did not get proper treatment as well since we were in the together for the same reason. I was expecting medications and to be properly taken care of. I don't know why I continuously decide to go to the hospital (maybe it's the closest to go to idk) but the past three experiences I've had there were the shittiest, most horrible experience. No organization within the ER. Never ever going back.
Very special thanks to the doctors and team of nurses of the Palliative Care Unit on the 8th Floor---East Bldg. I'd like to mention the attention and care that the doctors gave my mother and in being in contact with me almost on a daily basis about updates on her condition. THANK YOU to the team of nurses who have been looking after all the patients in these challenging times. You are all commended for your bravery and dedication!!!
The emergency room staff are horrible & do not know how to treat people! I went there with a badly bleeding nose after sinus surgery & when I politely asked when I would be seen-she could see the blood dripping-she told me that if I kept "bothering" them, I would be put on the bottom of the list. I told her where to go & wasted money on a cab to another hospital where they gave me immediate attention for the bleeding. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!! Avoid Centenary too!!
One of the worst experiences of my life I have a heart condition and had to go into emergency oct 1 I have had this condition for years so I am very aware of what needs done when I go. I have three children one was at school waiting for me who is special needs I explained this to the nurse. She was very rude and proceeded to ask me what he was going to do if I died, after already burying my own mother as a young woman I feel this question was not necessary. normally I am allowed to go home after 30 min and rest they kept me for 2 hours and the Dr was even worse when I screamed in pain he got angry broke something and left me there. This is just a small part of what happened at this hospital, I have never experienced such emotional, verbal and physical abuse like this in a hospital or anywhere else in my life. STAY AWAY from this place.
Some people are reviewing this hospital like they've just got out of Auschwitz, It's a great friendly environment. Fixed me up, parking was expensive and a cast cost 60$. Wait time was like half an hour and surgery was done on spot. While waiting in emergency, a guy came in with a missing finger and got bumped ahead of the other patients, as I would expect them to do for me. Outstanding doctors and staff. A++
nothing like any emergency service or treatment. long waiting time excusing the systems being down. lack of doctors during night. rather we have better experience at the Grace birchmount campus.
Worst Health service from their hospitals. They need to train.up theor people more and make easy business processes. So that, patients can get good service. Worst of all is their Finance and Billing Departments, they maintain very primitive and unhelpful processes. Lastly, they have a ridiculous customer feedback service, which do not work at all.
I am new here and I went to see a doctor in walk in clinic.I don’t Know like the hospital have such doctors. This is what happened with me I went to a doctor and explained what’s the problem I am facing. He listened to me , didn’t even explained why I have this problem what could be the reason. He said me will see you next week I asked him it’s not clear to me like what he wants me to do next. He replied me you are not listening to me I will not repeat my answer. I told him I have a hard time listening to him. He just gave me the paper and said come to me next week. I mean what kind of a doctor does that to a patient. If doctors don’t have time for patients why we need a Doctor? I hope management should reach out to the doctor. I don’t want what happened to me, should happen again with someone else.
UNDERSTAFFED, RUDE AND EXTREMELY SLOW. I've never been in a hospital with such bad service and professionalism. I waited for over an hour and no one came around not even a nurse, there was no one literally at emergency once inside, I was having a miscarriage in terrible pain and had to chase the Doctor around and ask her if there was someone ever coming and she just gave me attitude and told me to go back to my room and walked away. When she finally came to see me, she was rude and extremely insensitive. They told me they only had one doctor during the night shift, it was 9:30am! and until 11:30 am they were not having full staff, insane! Worst experience ever!
The word “rude” is too mild to describe the comments and the tone of voice of the Scarborough General Hospita ER stuff. Doctors who diagnose a cancerous paitient with stomach flu or distress and do not let this patient to the CT scan, …
the hospital sucks because the staff sucks/ DR NURSE EVERYONE. I would rather wait twice as long and go to Scarb Grace PEOPLE TREAT YOU RESPECTFUL. Even despite wait times. SCARB GEN AND ROUGE TRASH CAN hospitals doesnt feel like Ontario...FEEL LIKE A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY
Very rude and condescending nurses. Worst wait time, only one doctor covering whole emergency shift. When took my wife with a severe elbow pain all the nurse did is just took the temperature and nothing else. Even after three hours they did nothing, not even have a courtesy to check upon my wife, while she is crying out of pain and when asked they asked "What you want me to do?". One of the worst hospitals and I wish no one really has to go here with life threatening issues.
It was a horrible experience at emergency, nurse are rude, Dr are acting don't care. one Chinese or Philipino nurse , she should be fired , she is so nasty that I will write to city to cut fund. So the hospital fire, nasty nurse. There was one nurse nice so I give one star. My 14 months girl falls and hit her head and bleed from nose . At the start 1st nurse took adult people than taking an infant. So I had bad starting. As I told the ER nurse that the baby will fall sleep as I was inside with baby she completely ignored and took another guy. If ur kids sick never bring here. Sick kids hospital knows child and respect people. I don't understand how the Director of the hospital runs a City hospital with nasty nurse. I want an answer from the board of directors. Thnx aim
Was referred here about 6 months ago and was told they would be giving me a call in 3 months. I NEVER received this call nor did I receive a voice mail which they claimed to have left for me, so unfortunately I was told that I had to be referred again. I went back to my doctor, got another referral and was called by Nancy on the 7th of February 2020. I was working that day and couldn't return the phone call so since it was a Friday, I returned the call on Monday. Nancy did not pick up any of the FOUR times I've called over the last 3 weeks. I left 4 voice mails and have not received ANY communication. For the amount of time they make you wait to hear back from any kind of doctor they should really be on top of checking their messages. Getting mental health care really shouldn't be this hard in a first world country.
By far the worst hospital I’ve been too. Highly recommend a different hospital. Every visit, for just a check up takes nearly 4-5 hours waiting room. Not only that , one time I arrived with a family member for a check up. The line finally …
This hospital is one of the worst I have ever been to in my entire life. Most of the emergencies staff is highly rude and incompetent. They simply do nothing to actually solve the problem.
Good with a heavy heart. I don't know what to say, You have saved my mother's life SO MANY TIMES, from scepticemia, leg infections, over the years, yes, years. I write with heart ache as she is in AGIAN, for aspirating food, low body weight, which I blame myself for, She is now on the 7th floor, I didn't ask WHY yet, I am so heart broken. but hopeful, still hopeful. I have had run ins with a few urses, , Nurses, who were over WORKED, not really their FAULT, that they are stressed. It's hard for everyone, when a loved one falls ill. I say I am to blame, for my moms malnourishment, why? well, I wasn't TOLD by anyone, not even a CCAC Nurse that Mom needed a minced diet. I SHOULD have KNOWN, these things! CCAC, now there's a tough nut to crumble, They are allowed to give crumbs of care to very sick people, You know, I am too distraught to write, at the moment, but, SGH, has been, on the whole good to us, They DO seem to have their hands FULL on a daily basis. Hmm, OK, I have but one concern, now, I see Security running mentally ill clients off into the night, into the COLD, frigid weather, One fellow complained that his SHOES were talking to him, I thought, HE needed some care, Mental illness, is not an abstract problem, It is REAL, a chemical imabalance of the brain. Would any of us like our sons or daughters to be treated this way? I LIKE the approach St. Mikes is taking re: homeless, Mentally Ill. SGH could step up and follow suite. Where do these people go when they are so sick? what happens to them?
2 stars because the staff is nice well most of them . Nurses here do not make their rounds unless you call on them . I have been here 5 days now no one has even changed the bed sheets ...lol...very lazy workers for sure not good in this type of work.
Went on the 28th of December with my husband by ambulance, he couldn't walk waiting in a hallway for 2 1/2 hours, saw a dr who gave him morphine pill and ordered an Xray . Referred him to a spinal surgeon and discharged him, he is still in major pain and ,dr said he would expedite an MRI which wasn't true cause he can't get an appointment until May 27/17. Maybe more damage is being done as we speak still bed ridden and in pain. not caring at all, too top it off Nurses were awful as well
Absolute worse wait times in emerge! Doctors are very slow! Went for a X-ray for foot and insisted on getting chest X-ray! Completely baffled me. Then told me that he has to say patient refused on the piece of paper, therefore couldn’t take my foot X-ray! Waited for 6 hours for that? And middle of the night! Just to hear staff say “well if you aren’t happy where you are, you should just go else where” to another patient as I waited. Total disregard to any concerns patients have as another elder women is crying and sobbing in pain and waiting for results, telling the woman to just eat and everything will be okay? How does that even make sense! THEEEEEEE WORST HOSPITAL EVER!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Elaine Yeung and her fabulous staff for their excellent care of me during a colonoscopy procedure on September 7, 2017. Each step was handled with respect, compassion, kindness and complete professionalism during my many hours of care. A most awkward examination became a safe and emotionally uplifting experience. Thank you so much Dr. Yeung. How lucky Toronto is to have this outstanding hospital available to serve our communities both local and far flung!! Yours Sincerely, Honey Grant
Worst hospitals ever. Ridiculously waste, No one really cares for the patients. HAD TO WAIT FOR 4 hours and in EMERGENCY. GOD KNOWS WHT SORT OF EMERGENCY SERVICE IS THAT. …
Dirty poorly run hospital...I was on 2 floor for recovery from day surgery overnight...what a nitemare ..no one was organized and all had different answers...thrown into a room and only checked 2 or 3 times overnite...food was terrible when u got some...never ask what u like to eat and I had to check myself out after waiting for a porter to wheel me out...i waited 45 mins than was told they went on lunch...my people were waiting 1 1/2 hrs outside for me to come down....
CCU NURSES ARE OUTSTANDING, THANK FOR YOUR FABULOUS CARE. LUNCH AND SUPPER FOOD LEAVE s A LOT TO BE DESIRED. I had cHICKEN WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS THE SAME FOOD HEATED UP and Diced frozen warmed potatoes and warmed frozen vegetables
Girlfriend went there yesterday : ZERO STARS! Got in there at 11:30 am left at 7:20pm took 1 hour to see triage nurse( can't sit because all the visitors are sitting like if they are the patient doesn't offer u to take their seat or anything so I was standing for 4 hours holding my pee) she stared to judge me when asked if I could be pregnant, why am I not on the pill like excuse me who are u to ask that as if the pregnancy is a horrible mistake, took 3 hours for them to come take my blood and urine sample waited 2 hours for ultrasound ( I have yet to see the doctor) nurse came back said blood was ok and ran away didn't even give me a copy didn't tell me if the pregnancy was positive or negative pretty sure I'm pregnant even though they said it was negative because I don't trust them at All rather cut my wrist and bleed out than go there, will not be suprised if I'm positive.
I had my baby delivered here during the peak covid times. Inspite of these hard times, the staff was really helpful in every way. My baby had to be kept in NICU for 4 days and the department was really good in taking care of me and my newborn in every way they can. Cannot thank them enough after GOD! ????
This hospital is in a densely populated area so there is a lot of demand on the resources. Now that I live in Milton/oakville area, I have had better experiences here. Hopefully, they will make things better at Scarborough Hospital.
The dirtiest hospital I have ever seen. Which explains all the infections after surgery......the majority of the nurses are rude and inattentive to the patients. I would never go or have a loved one in that hospital again!
I went to this hospital yesterday for a blood test. I didn't know the exact location of the lab where I had to give blood. I rushed to Information Desk at the Main Entrance for help. The staff told me to go to the second floor of the main hospital building (East side). I walked all the way to the elevator to go to the second floor. When I was there, I didn't see any lab there. I spoke with a staff across the elevator, she was surprised, she didn't know anything about a lab. Then I spoke with another staff at Pediatric Sec. She told me to go to the first floor in the same wing of the building. I took the elevator again and went to the lab. But this is not the lab that I was looking for. When I approached the staff at the counter, she told me this lab is located in the basement under the area where Tim Horton's etc are - very close to the Information Desk. I have the same experience when I went to my specialist doctor in this hospital in mid Jun. Some staff in the information Desk asked me to go third floor in the main building - the same location - which was total wrong. I was wondering if the individuals working in the INFORMATION DESK are volunteers or paid staff. If they are paid, then why they don't have right information.
I took my son to the emergency room on January 22 at 12pm. He was processed quickly and sent into a waiting room. The doctor saw him within an hour upon arriving which was great. The doctor ordered many tests, which reassured us that he was going to find what was wrong. Around 4pm, the dr said he had a fast heart rate and they'd start an IV with antibiotics. At 6pm, the dr said he did not know what my son had, he referred him to a disease control specialist, gave him a prescription for antibiotics, checked his vitals and discharged him. The nurse then took out his IV and discovered that it wasn't in his vein and the antibiotics went into his skin and not his vein. They did nothing and sent us home. I was so upset.
If there is 0 I would give them. I called for an emergency on the new year. The paramedic were so rude and unprofessional. First thing they said is " he looks like he took alot of drugs and drunk lots of alcohol, these stupid people don't even car about their lives but they want us to care." Then one of them said " see the phone is in his hand, maybe he is a drug dealer or he was calling his dealer." I was calling 911 You idiots. I have never seen in my life people as judgmental as them. Then they started searching my house everywhere to find "the drugs" I was seeing and hearing what's going on, but not able to speak. On our way to the ambulance, they were complaining about "stuiped people like me" who bother them just to use drugs. They took me outside in -30 only wearing a t-shirt and short. As soon as we got to the hospital, they asked for a drug test "to see What the hell did I take" afterwards when the result came out. They were choked that there not any kind of drug in my blood nor there is any alcohol. One of them even said " how the hell is that possible, I'm sure he's on drugs." When I finally got better I found out that they brought with me all of the medication bottle I had such as my antibiotic and other pain killer, think ing that they are illegal drugs I'm hiding in medication bottles. They said they looked at them and they're fine. When I got back to my house. Everything was a mess. My clothes are on the floor and the closest is upside down.
Why is it that you can't book a vaccine at 12am when you add a new day of booking at 12 am every day but the moment the clock strikes 12 am your website says it's full and no appointments are available who is filling these appointments at the strike of 12 am or does some people have the privilege to book appointment before the day changes over there is no way at 12am all the appointments are booked if the site opens at 12 am I don't think this site is doing things in good standing
After having my shoulder dislocated 5 times playing sports, I have visited many different hospitals to put it back in. After my experience at Scarborough general, I felt compelled to write this review. This was hands down the best service I have gotten. Thank you staff for doing you job with excellent care.
THE WORST HOSPITAL WE HAVE EVEN BEEN TO. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. STAFF FROM FRONT ,NURSES, DRS ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND USELESS... ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. THE WORST !!!! NAZOOL THE NURSE IN CHARGE OF ER SHOULD BE FIRED AND LICENSE REVOKED. A HORRUBLE HUMAN BEING. WHAT A SHAME!!!!!
This is the worsest hospital not only in Canada but worsest hospital in the world, I had my baby for birth, they gave the job for a trainy nurse , I and my baby was almost dead, and ofter they kept us 3 days but the nurses are so bad very …
My wife was suffering from a high fever and was shaking uncontrollably. The doctor instructed her to stay overnight in the emergency waiting area until she was stabilized. The Doctor later instructed a nurse to take my wife's temperature and the nurse flat out refused. The nurse told the doctor that she had taken my wife's temperature too many times and was not going to do it again. The Doctor did not take any further action. Later in the night my wife was still shaking due to the high fever - a nurse told her "to stop acting like that" and that she [my wife] would get in "a lot of trouble" if a "code blue has to be called". Absolutely ridiculous hospital with vicious death squad nurses. Use this hospital's emergency as an absolute last resort. If you're ever unlucky enough to visit this hospital then make records of all nurse interactions and note their names. If you experience a similar situation call the Hospital's Patient Advocacy as soon as you can.
I was Fortunate enough to be born there 54years ago and had numerous admissions afterwards. As did my late MOTHER Grace White. A WONDERFUL Hospital. No place is perfect because none of us are.including others who criticise others. Thank you Scarborough General.Ala
Tried calling to confirm a assesment appointment. Nobody picks up... All day. Left a voicemail, no call back. Called back and left ringing nonstop until I had to hang up. I guess people who need assistance just have to figure it out on their own.
Please do not go to their Emergency Department if you do not have to. I've had two extremely horrible experiences there related to my father's care there a few years ago, to the point that I took it up with the manager of the unit after my father died. My father passed away at that hospital largely due, in my opinion, to the incompetence of some nursing staff in the ER. Till this day, I question whether they should be sued for patient negligence. Shame on them. Horrible department.
Not a bad hospital. It has it's ups and downs like most hospitals but they've saved a lot of sick family and friends of mine. Thanks. They could however improve the amount of nurses.
I have seen criticism of the nurses and took a moment to respond. During my stay for surgery, the nurses were kind, thoughtful, and caring. A good and healing experience.
I took my dad for the covid 19 vaccination. Each member of staff was awesome. Thank you
I had my surgey in this hospital. My first day was horrible .The nurses are noisy ,they yell ànd chat aa lot.Post operative patients need rest but it seemed that they didnt know it. I was given strong medication and yet i could still hear banging and chatting and yelling. TO ADD MORE DAMAGE to injury the loud speakers are located in front of each door to page nurses wherever room they are needed. That means everytime a patient presses the call bell someone from nurse station will page the nurse in a very LOUD speaker."Nurse to room 384 bed 1 please, to room 384 bed1. The funny thing about this hospital is that at 8:30 in the evening they would use the same loud speaker to send all the family, guest home so that the patients could have a nice sleep and ironically theyve been waking us up the whole night with their endless paging their missing nurses.WHENEVER theres a single patient who calls the bell the rest wake up. Where are your nurses by the way?Are they all busy giving meds in each room? All the time?I pressed the bell 4times and paged 4times and she showed up after45min. Is it fair for the rest of the patients on that floor to be awaken just because the one on the nurse station is lazy to stand up and search silently ?(by the way turn off the loud radio on the background before you page your missing nurses the voice is loud enough to pester us patients.
ER waiting time is insane but it is at all hospitals in Scarborough. The specialists practising there are all great doctors, but alas, a lot of them are retiring and who knows what talents the younger ones have. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and also need vertebrae fusion. Must wait from March 2016 to Jan. 2017 for my surgeon to operate. Booked up till then. An on low dose narcotic for pain but mostly try to cope without it. But try t not to complain , staff is really short and try their best. Try to look from their standpoint . And not use the ER for trivial things as I have often seen. It ties up the time wait for serious patients.
Do yourself a favour and go to the Toronto general hospital or Mount Sinai downtown. Weeks ago I went for CT scan because I was getting endless headaches. It was clear. They said they would call within a day for further results. I heard nothing as of today. I called in and they said NO results are in. Are you kidding me?! These people will dash your results and information on the other side. Do yourself a favour and don’t go here because you’ll never get what you need. Go a hospital where doctors and nurse know what they are doing.
Went in today sept 10th for day surgery and from the start to end the staff were amazing compassionate caring understanding with every step thank you for everything you do
I was left a voicemail regarding a medical appointment that is not mine, which I went to call back to inform that the wrong number was dialed. No name left on said voicemail and the call back number was for SHN, where I was only able to speak with an indifferent switchboard operator- she seemed not to care where I informed her of what happened, made no attempt to assist and advised me that all I could do was wait for a call back. Upon reviewing the voicemail and hearing the term "outpatient" used, I manage to find a phone number for SHN's Mental Health Outpatient Program but with no option to speak with somebody directly for assistance. Just trying to do right by others, who does one speak to to let them know that they called the wrong person?
Their so caring my son as born here and they treated him good. They have such a nice comfortable welcoming birthing unit. I enjoys my stay 100%
We had our baby at this hospital, the staff delivering the baby and the doctor was good. But the nurses and staff taking care of us after the baby was born was another story. They have a different attitude and was not as helpful and professional. They seem lay back and lazy. This hospital seems under funded, only a few diapers were provided and we had to pay an extra $290 for a private room so that the husband can spend the night with the family. While other hospitals offer it at no extra charge. Just because there are less fortunate people in the Scarborough area our health care system will hire the same kind of people to treat their patients, I think that's a little unfair. These people look like they are just there for the money and don't care much about their patients. All in all, I do not recommend people to come to this hospital if they are having a new born. These are strictly my own opinions and I'm not going to name anyone. Where did the funds from our health care system go?
Waited all night in the emergency with my son to see the doctor, at the end prescribed wrong antibiotics. Went back after 2 days because my son was vomiting like crazy when he takes the medication, saw a different doctor and he said that the medication wasn't meant for kids.
My mother in law was recently taken to emerge with abdominal pains. Within hours she had emergency surgery. surgery went well but hours later her blood pressure dropped severely and she was transferred to the CCU. It was a difficult time for our family but I just want to say that the staff that was caring for her during her stay, was very caring and attentive and we want to thank them sincerely to answering all our questions and concerns and ultimately less stressful experience than it could have been. I’ve had many hospital experiences in my life and this was by far the best experience. Thank you and God bless.
Oh my. I've never heard the rudest receptionist I've ever heard in my entire life. I heard grandfather just fell off the roof and was in the hospital and I wanted to try to visit him and I just got off with the most unpleasant person I've ever spoke to. She hates people I promise you this and she has no consideration with anyones feeling. I was in shock I'm how she spoke to me. I couldn't remember the exact spelling of my grandfather's name and she said "how is he your grandfather if you don't know his name?" I'm sorry. I didn't I was suppose to call my grandfather Mr.blank I just called him Lolo all my life. Spelling a word and know how it sounds is to different things. Then I went to ask my mom how to spell it and before she can try to spell it a second time the receiptionsit on the switch board just hung up on me. I wish I got her name I would have blasted it in the review.
Long waiting in the emergency department. Nurse was kind and nice. Please give important to bleeding patient. I had to wait for hours with head injury bleeding child.
When I regained consciousness from an epileptic seizure, the ER nurse scolded me for "pulling a temper tantrum!". In what janitor school did this incompedent get her degree? To confuse the two is bad enough, but I wear an ID bracelet that clearly states my condition.
My father has been in and out of hospitals for the past year, but East General and Toronto General would temporarily treat his issues and send him home WITHOUT a follow up appointment. What ended up happening was following his discharge from Toronto General he got an infection from whatever treatment they provided him and went home with a high fever which led him to go unconscious. Thankfully, the paramedics took my father to Scarborough Hospital. It was on the weekend of Halloween and there was an hour wait, but the paramedics stayed with him and checked his vitals until he was given a room. The doctor on site was furious my dad was being untreated and kept him through the week where he was taken care of the most wonderful nurses and care workers and even seen by various specialists who were able to get down to the problem. They put him on the priority list and was scheduled for a surgery the following week. The only thing that they could really improve on was the communication between the nurses, workers and specialist because they would asks the same questions and weren't up to date or clear on certain conditions. Otherwise the staff were always wonderful and checked up on my father every 2 hours to make sure he was alright, eating and taking his medications.
