Dr. Kevin Smith was considerate and answered all my questions explaining things in a way I could understand. Excellent orthopedist.
I have always had good care there, highly recommend.
Great staff very kind they do there job right and they take great care of there patients
The rudest and most callous ER staff I have ever encountered in my entire life. They have no tact and are completely unprofessional. They treat patients with complete disrespect and openly make jokes and talk about patients with each other. Was there the day after a holiday and was told if we needed help we shouldn't have had an emergency over a holiday weekend. I am absolutely disgusted. These people should not be employed in anyway dealing with other human beings, as they have absolutely no compassion. It's an absolute shame. The doctor however was extremely helpful and did the best in trying to get us the best medical help we could, while also struggling to get the nursing staff to comply.
I was born here 68 years ago, I came today for a Hemicolectomy (look it up). Medical staff was great, as well as the LSSU Nursing students. Best hospital in the EUP!!!
Hands down one of the worst hospitals I’ve been in, if you’re in the Soo or surrounding areas, I 100% HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO TO ST IGNANCE OR PETOSKEY!
They don't listen to anyone nor your symptoms an they just say you're fine then send you on your way. They told my husband he has fluid in his lung though he was having all symptoms of a heart attack an drugged him up and sent him home, if he has a heart attack I'm going after them no joke. I'm not going to lose my husband to their stupidity.
Going on 4 hours of waiting time for 3 stitches. I could do a better job in my bathroom
The locals joke “War Memorial would miss diagnose a gunshot to the head” but if you’re in the EUP you have no other option than to amputate ????
Very good in all aspects.
Excellent ER Care! I came there in severe pain with multiple fractures in my leg. Every one in the ER was helpful, friendly and knowledge! Theresa, Abby and all of them went out of their way to get me comfortable.
Lab technicians are rude and don't care or value the people they deal with. Came in for testing last time I was allowed to leave and come back when time was up this time 2 weeks latter I'm not allowed to go anywhere. The lady at desk is rude and disrespectful
Billing office is a joke. They can't seem to read addresses correctly because my bill was sent to the wrong address - enough times for a collections agency to contact me. I know they have my home address because I've rec'd past bills there; however, for some reason sent it to my school address - FROM LAST YEAR! Not sure who sends out the bills, but they should really pay more attention to the BILLING address.
My 22-year-old son went to the emergency room today because he's complaining about serious ear pain he got in there the first thing he told me is the nurse who checked his ears he jabbed up the ear scope right until we're hurt hurting him more then the doctor says they can't do anything to his ears does it build up with a hard wax then they sent him home with him to get prescriptions filled not even trying to make a effort this is not the first time we have problems with this hospital and we're not the only ones I know two friends who will never go back to their hospital one will go all the way to Marquette and want to go to St. Ignace
Convenient location. Free Valet parking
i wouldn't rate this place a star my grandfather who has dementia went to the hospital to begin with for hernia about the size of a softball hanging out of his gut and he may be hard to convince to go to the hospital after an hour or two trying to convince him we get in there and once we get there we check in the wait was no problem but I myself ask where may I smoke a cigarette and the lovely woman at the front desk of the ER told me to go to the sidewalk so I have a cigarette at the sidewalk but my grandfather was still in the waiting room so after I return and have a cup of coffee my grandfather needed to have a cigarette especially with all the commotion in the ER waiting room. Like I said my grandfather has dementia and is having more than one issue to deal with at once so he made the mistake of lighting his cigarette as soon as he walked out the door and since it's snowing and 18 degrees out I'm trying to tell him please Grandpa let's walk towards the car by the sidewalk and this security guard who obviously takes his job way too seriously comes out and starts in front of us my grandpa throws a cigarette down runs in the waiting room and I myself and being confronted by the security guard who was sitting there giving me a lecture on how I knew better when I didn't have a cigarette in my mouth I'm trying to get my grandpa to the car at least that way I could start the car and turn the heater on and crack the window but the security guard made a bigger deal than it was and sat there and told me how he told me when it wasn't him it was the nurse at the desk who told me to smoke at the sidewalk and after telling him there's not a cigarette in my mouth please stop giving me a hard time and persisted on trying to invoke me I got fed up to the point where I told him to kindly piss off he threatened to call the cops on me and I said fine I don't care I didn't do nothing wrong and my grandpa walked back outside and jumped in the car and refuse to go back in there and like I said at the beginning it takes a lot of convincing to get him to go to the hospital and thanks to this security guard who obviously takes his job way too seriously that my grandpa did not receive medical attention after I tried to reason with him but even though I did not have a cigarette in my mouth but my grandfather and angered him because he was chewing out his grandson in front of him with that said I do not recommend this Hospital it was a very first time I went there to take my grandfather to the ER and besides the nurse who was absolutely wonderful I got along with her just fine but the security guard who honestly should have his contract terminated my grandfather refuses to go to the hospital which is difficult on my end especially the fact that my grandfather sat and talked to a child whose father was stabbed a room away and witnessed his father Bleeding Out he tried to comfort him and it tore him up badly so he walks out to have a cigarette and the security guard who obviously has nothing better to do besides sit in the waiting room and watch TV comes out and harasses us I'm trying my best with my grandfather but I don't need somebody else to sit there and argue when I'm trying to help them anyways I would not recommend a single star to this Hospital
Carrying understanding and patient staff. Outstanding facility.
I was born in this hospital November 15th 1951 I was born in this hospital November 15th 1951
I have never had a problem here, the staff is always very helpful.
My husband visited the ER several months ago and we have been going round and round with the billing department ever since. They apparently have no idea what they are doing and keep sending us bills with "cash discounts" instead of processing his visit through our insurance (we have provided them with the insurance information several times). Each time they send a bill we call and are assured it will be taken care of once we finally get someone to return our calls, then we get another bill.
I gave birth to my first baby at War Memorial Hospital & I had the best experience ever. The labor & delivery nurses were absolutely amazing & extremely helpful. Doctor Kevin Sorah delivered my son & I have nothing but great things to say about him. The recovery room is very nice & spacious, it got an actual bed for the dads/partners, which is nice & way better than having them sleeping on a couch for two days. A very special thank you to the labor & delivery nurses who guided me thru everything & took such good care of me & my son. (Ella, Emily, Michaela, Katie)
Dr. Abraham is a great doctor, happy to answer any questions family has and very nice guy. Nurses in comfort care are all very sweet. Receptionist at entrance are very very rude. This is not the way they should treat people working in customer service.
Please do not take anyone here if they have any serious heath issues. This hospital is not skilled enough to give you the service you deserve.
Went to the ER because my back popped while at work and was causing a cold sensation and debilitating pain. After the admitted me and waited for a doctor. The doctor comes in, touches my back. Says back spasms, prescribed medication and sent me on the way, saying will be better in a few days. Nothing to it. Most hospitals, with the knowledge that a cold sensation on the spine is never a good symptom, should have ran tests. 2 weeks later my primary care ent orders for MRI. A month after my symptoms occured, I was able to have the tests, and another 2 weeks for results. MRI found slipped disc, herniated disc and lumbar stenosis. Which was causing the muscle spasms. But nothing that will just go away in a few days. And primary care doctor said during visit that the major red flag was when I said cold sensation traveling down my mid/lower spine. They should have listened to what I was describing and tested. Better safe than sorry. I could have injured it worse because of them.
Good medical services.
The ER nurses and doctor provided excellent patient care to my son today. Thank you WMH.
Lovely and dedicated staff, that treat me as family
Excellent ER staff. My toddler had to go in today because his smashed his finger. I almost thought I was in a pediatric unit as they were all very patient and kind in caring for him.
Have a little rant to share. When I went to the walk in clinic today, at the end of the registration process, the receptionist said "it looks like you have a $20 copay, would you like to take care of it today?". Now, I know I know. I'm getting a service, payment is expected at that time, etc etc. But I usually always just have them bill me, and there's never been an issue. I always pay my bills. As my foot is hurting so bad, I wasn't even thinking about it. I didn't even have my wallet or anything on me, hard enough to walk without my purse. So I told her to just bill me, please. Her expression changed completely, and she said "Well payment is expected at time of service. I will bill it today but remember to be prepared in the future to make your payments when you come in." I told her, don't worry, you'll get the money. I also told her that I go to the Kinross and Meijer clinics quite frequently and they never expect the copay up front, so it didn't even really cross my mind. I've even tried to pay my copay upfront at the Meijer one and they tell me I'm all set and will bill me. She cotinues, in her not so nice voice, to tell me that those clinics should be making me pay upfront as well and that it costs them money to send bills to people. I'm trying to walk away and sit down, and she just keeps going. It embarrassed me in front of the other patients in line. But none of that is even what bothered me the most. What really makes me mad is... When the person in line behind me went up to the window, her and the receptionist knew each other. At the end of her registration, her copay came to $35, more than mine, and the receptionist sweetly asked her "do you want to take care of it today or no? You don't have to pay it today, we can bill you." So. I guess if you're friends with the receptionist, you don't get to be berated and embarrassed by her about not being able to pay your copay upfront.
Dr Daha good dr.
This is the worst hospital I have ever been too. Rude and unprofessional.
How do you not do COVID testing on weekends? That should be a 24/7 operation.
1 nurse practitioner and 2 nurses are the only thing good about that hospital. The others miss treat you and your family as well as think everyone is out to seek drugs . If u clearly see someone is in pain and u do any kinda test to confirm what they are talking about then u try your best to treat the issue not send them home. My daughter passed out twice no work up done what so ever they gave her 2 juices and sent her home. This hospital needs new staff that actually care about there job and not just a paycheck
Great hospital in the UP! Physicians have treated me well and the staff is great.
The time to be wated it redicules i would never recomend it to any one
Went to V. A. Center
Communicating is horrible. And the billing department is full of idiots they recently changed they system the hospital uses and none of them understand how to use it.
How can you not help someone if their sick
I recently experienced surgery by Dr. Amo and an overnight stay at the hospital. My care was excellent - from arrival to discharge. Very professional, positive attitudes, helpful and proper staffing levels. But most important, Dr. Amo was excellent.
They are so worried about junkies wanting pain meds they treat people with actual proven chronic pain from well documented injuries like they are junkies wanting meds. The doctors affiliated with this place are here to treat their patients. They are failing.
I was taken by ambulance last night. I cut my toe off. The paramedics arrived and were amazing. I felt really dumb for what happened but I was re-Assured they have seen worse. I was treated and sewn up quickly, and I feel I made new friends. Thank you War Memorial for everything. Keep this going!
Every time that I need to register to get bloodwork or other testing done, I always have a pleasant experience, Thank you everyone at War Memorial Hospital.
Great nursing staff for my Dad in Jan 2013
They used to be a good emergency place to go. Now the ER has really gone down hill. I came there with a wound that required 18 stitches. I have lymphodema in my legs. This requires special handling whenever I get a wound on the leg. The nurse practitioner who stitched me up said that I didn't need wound care or antibiotics. I told her that I did, as they gave them to me a year earlier with a much smaller wound on the same leg. I went to a total of three nurse practitioners, at the ER and walk in center, before one of them would finally agree to refer me to wound care and give me the antibiotics. My wound care doctor said that that was terrible that I had to do that to get care. The nurse that stitched me up also said that I would probably lose a big flap of skin. But she wouldn't give me the things that I needed most to ensure that that wouldn't happen! Not only could that have happened, I could have also lost my leg! i was also there for another reason about two months later, and they didn't handle that too well either. I am not impressed. Update: Don't bother to use the parking service. I used it today for the first time in years and was told that they will no longer park my car because of the "smell", My car does not smell. It was just recently cleaned by Reno;s Car Care, I wish I could go somewhere else but because of a lack of drivers I am forced to keep going here.
Worst hospital you could possibly visit. Because it's a college town, they have many students shadowing the doctors. Even if you ask for the student NOT to be in your exam - they will bring them in anyways. The first time I gotten blood drawn from their phlebotomy team, they had to poke my arms 3-4 times. When they couldn't get to my veins in my arm they went in my hands - which collapsed the veins in my hands. This has happened on more than one occasion. They are the reason why the sight of needles at the doctor's office make me sick to my stomach. Oh and the billing department is a blast as well. They claim not to have your insurance on file and then will over charge you for your visit. Even after providing insurance records again, the billing department somehow loses them every time they go to bill you ???? I really hope they get better management soon. As I would rather die from an injury in the woods than to go to War Memorial in the Soo.
I am very dissatisfied w the nursing staff and the freedom they use with patients privacy issues! I am appalled with the free information they all hand out to almost anyone. My mother was a patient there for 4 days I was angered and stunned.you need to reteach privacy issues
They have a wonderful, caring staff . It really makes a bad situation so much easier to deal with . I thank you all for what you do and how well you do it.
My GP ( General-Practitioner ) ordered 6 visits for me by Physical Therapist and C. M. T. ( Certified Massage Therapist ) approx. July 2016 continuing until Oct. of 2016. They only allowed me 2 visits and I never received my money refunded by them and neither Medicare. This happened at their Rehab. Center Jct. I-75 Business Corridor behind Family Video. My advice keep away from them. They have also left medical instruments inside body cavities during surgical procedures causing fatalities via super strep flesh eating disease necrotizing fasciitis. Recall the fellow who got stuck in the tip of his finger with a fish hook and was deceased in 1== 1/2 days. And the Sudbury, Canada area hospital wherein they had the anesthesia lines hooked backwards with the oxygen lines resulting in a slew of fatalities. My advise is this "DO NOT UNDER ANY ELECTIVE SURGERIES " on acct. even if the surgical procedures as successful individuals may wake up totally blind forever as brain cells are nerve cells which do not regenerate and the blood flow pressure/ is stenosed /occluded/truncated ( cut off ).
