The Sault Animal Hospital staff brings expertise and compassion in the treatment of our two fur babies, Sophia (14 1/2 year old lab) and River (5 year old lab). The friendly office staff is the best, get to know your animals, and the veterinarians are so knowledgeable. I recommend them highly. Their facility is excellent.

My 6 month old bunny was dying in my arms so my dad called this place. The on-call “vet” was told what was happening, and he wouldn’t see him until the next day. So tonight, my bunny died in pain in my arms just because this place wouldn’t see him. Apparently my emergency wasn’t good enough. I had to watch my bunny go limp and just stop breathing, I will forever be traumatized because this man refused to understand the urgency of the situation. He told me to bring him in the next day even though I told him my baby wasn’t gonna live through the night.

Dr. Jeff was exceptional and thorough, making a heart-grueling emergency visit an amazing experience. Due to Gabriel's complex symptoms, Dr. Jeff went over and above a routine emergency examination. There is no question, he cares tremendously about the animals under his care. Although scientifically based, he remained opened re natural supplements, reviewing the benefits and potential adverse effects of each one I was using on Gabriel. He came from a place of science, experience and wisdom. Interestingly, Gabriel showed an improvement after the diagnostic abdominal ultrasound performed by Dr. Jeff. I could not help but conjecture whether this released a blockage. Healing is mysterious. It is about science, but also about caring, about the energy a healer brings. Dr. Jeff demonstrates professionalism, following up with Gabriel's regular vet. Dr. Jeff brings the best to veterinary medicine.

Dr. Jeff and his staff are absolutely wonderful. I have brought my previous dogs, and now my cats here. He put my last cat, Zoe, down with ease and he was very kind with the process. He explained everything to me and prepared me in regards to what was going to happen. He has also done bladder stone surgery on my other cat in the past and now does yearly routine care for my other cats. I wouldn’t take my animals anywhere else. I trust his knowledge and experience. He and his staff are kind, caring and compassionate and love what they do.

First of all Dr. Jeff lied to me, when my dog came in with two broken legs, he said that if my dog had to have metal plates in both legs, he would charge 2,000 dollars, and that if only one leg needed a metal plate, he would charge 1,600 dollars. They "tricked" me by telling me I needed to pay a 500 deposit upfront, and then later charged me $1,698.44 dollars resulting in a total of $2,198.44 dollars. I've had problems before with them overcharging me. THEN, after the surgery was done, my dog came back to me VERY skinny, skin and bones, after a week or so of feeding him his normal diet, he got his weight back. He came back to me not able to hold in his urine so he now leaks everywhere, not sure what happened with that. AND, I was supposed to come back 2 weeks after to see if he needed his metal plate off. I decided to wait a little longer because of health problems as well as having experience with this before when my toy poodle had a broken leg and the metal plate had gotten taken off 2 weeks after, the leg had re-broken because of the metal being taken off too soon, the vet confirmed this (different Veterinarian), and fixed the leg for free while also, keeping the metal plate on much longer to make sure the leg had healed properly before the metal plate was taken off. Knowing this, I wanted to wait a little longer. Because of me waiting longer, they decided to call the cops on me for neglect, I cannot believe cops came to my work place looking to talk to me, and after I had already visited with them and gotten the metal plate off! I don't know if there are some crazy people working there or this is what this clinic thinks is acceptable. I am already tired of this place, and will not be returning.

I have been going to this veterinary hospital for about 7 years. Many of the staff have been there a long time which is always a good indication. Staff are very compassionate about the health of your pet. Until 4 months ago I just visited this hospital for yearly and routine exams and vaccines with nothing out of the ordinary. Facility is clean and wait times are good. Currently I have a 6 year old golden who is going thru the gold standard chemotherapy for non-Hodgkins B cell lymphoma. It was caught very early so prognosis is good. I am confident that Dr. Jeff and his staff are treating her with the best options available. My advice to anyone is to be your pets best advocate. Research any condition that your pet may have and talk in detail about all your concerns and treatment options available. Write them down before your visit. In the beginning I was afraid of what was going to happen. Dr. Jeff was very good about explaining the process and would call me back at home if I had a concern. I am confident that I made the right choice having my dog treated here.

Everyone was and always is fantastic to my fur child Milo. Dr. Sarah is great and I love how she gets on the floor with him. Takes away any anxiety he maybe having including myself. He is my life and the love all of you show towards us is outstanding. From the moment we came thru the door with reception till we were done. Dr. Jeff was able to provide chiropractic care for my horse. The doctor took care of his hips and lower back, that have been causing issues for years. Plus he was able to recommend a saddle that would not aggrevate the issue. We take all our pets to Sault Animal Hospital, from our cats to dogs, pot belly pigs, alpacas, and horses. We are very happy with the services.

Dr. Sara is AMAZING, I've never met a vet so passionate about exotic animals, it's nice to finally have a vet that cares about my leopard gecko as much as I do. We were at our regular vet with our very sick dog Mac, he was diagnosed with bladder stones, one of them lodged blocking his urine track. They couldn't do anything for him but referred us to Dr. Jeff at Sault Animal Hospital. They were called and we were told to bring Mac in ASAP, we had over an hours drive and got there late in the day, they were ready for him, from that point on he was in good hands. 24 hrs later we picked him up a little groggy but doing fine. We feel that this kind of service is unheard of these days and we will be regular clients from now on.

They were booked and managed to squeeze in my BC pup. She ended up spending the night on IV and antibiotic fluids. I observed good team work amongst the staff. Vet answered questions I had. My pup is 100% and back to rough housing with her brother.

I can't say enough about how happy we are with Sault Animal Hospital and how well they took care of my daughter's puppy! Our little 2.5# Maltese, MolleyMae, broke her little leg just before Christmas:( We were told by the vet who did the xrays that there wasn't anyone local who could fix that type of fracture. I called several different veterinary hospitals downstate, the closest being Traverse City, and they all quoted me between $3100-$4,000! I inadvertently found out that Sault Animal Hospital did orthopedic pinning when I called there to get a price for amputation. Thank goodness we didn't have to do that!! The quote that we were given for the whole surgery, hospitalization, medications, follow up visits with repeat xrays at each visit was only $800!! We spent a fraction of the price to have the same thing done, at a local hospital, that we would have had downstate!! And Dr Jeff did an awesome job! Molley Mae's leg was crooked when she went in for surgery and now that her cast is off and the pin is out it doesn't look any different than the other one and she uses it just the same! The entire staff was friendly in person, as well as on the phone, and seemed to genuinely care and love our little puppy as we do!! Something I don't think we would have found downstate. This was actually the second positive experience we have had with Sault Animal Hospital in the past few months. The first one being an emergency transfer for our Lab who had emergency surgery for a suspected bowel obstruction and turned out to have a severe case of parvo. Dr Jeff welcomed him with open arms and the entire staff took amazing care of him as well! I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone!!

We had an emergency with our puppy, and Sault Animal Hospital got him in to be seen right away. The staff from the front desk to the doctor and assistants were all friendly and knowledgeable. Happy to say our pup is back at home and recovering.

Everyone at Sault Animal Hospital is very kind and considerate. I feel they care about both me and my little Yorkie, Link. Dental cleaning is a routine procedure but it can be quite stressful to leave my little pup for hours in an unfamiliar environment. Our very first visit to this vet was a week ago for a wellness check on our 8 week old German Shepherd, Blue. From the moment we walked in the door, everyone treated us so nice - the girls at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful, the doctors assistant was also very personable and caring, and Doctor Sara was fantastic - needless to say we were extremely impressed. We definitely made the right choice in choosing this vet and would recommend it to anyone. The entire staff is first class!!

Brought my cat to the vet due to what we thought was a hair ball trapped in his throat. Our cat was gagging and wheezing and not himself for 2 weeks. He already is a fussy and high tempered 5 year old cat who does not like vet visits, but sweet to his family and other 2 cats at the home. Upon the visit, he peed his his crate because of nerves, and when we went to pick him up 8 hours later, he was still covered in his own feces. After a $450 vet bill the result of the visit was “possible tonsillitis.” overall not happy with this place and will not be returning.

Over the past several years I have found the doctors and support staff at Sault Animal Hospital second to none. I have total confidence in their expertise and knowledge and applaud all of them for the compassion, care, humour and concern they have shown over the years. Having had various dogs and cats over the past 45 plus years I have certainly had a range of experiences with veterinarian care. The first time I went to SAH was because of a major illness with my Husky that the current veterinarian was not able to properly diagnose. SAH welcomed me with open arms and provided outstanding care for my dog (and me lol) Since that time I have had more animals with each and every one being cared for by SAH. They are the best !!

My visit went well, I wanted to acquaint Dr. Jeff and staff to my dog Natasha, who has a history of Addison's disease, and is being treated for a corneal ulcer. She was due for some lab work, and wanted an opinion on her eye. We accomplished all of the needs, the staff was great, I had dropped off her medical records, along with my other dogs record, and cat, so information could be entered. It was done when I came in for her appointment. I am now living in this area, so also like that Sault Animal does provide ER services, which I unfortunately had to use with my other dog Merle. The staff is caring, and seem to be well trained in what they do. Overall, our visit was pleasant. I look forward to future visits to this clinic. Thank you.

Called early in the morning about an ear infection with my golden doodle and then got me in right away (in line with my schedule), diagnosed the problem and prescribed medication that is quickly healing her ear. Dr. Jeff LaHuis is a pompous little Veterinarian. My grandfather's dog was brought here with no choice a couple of weeks ago because he was the only vet on call for after hours. He diagnosed the dog with a bad urinary tract infection and sent him home with an antibiotic. This afternoon he started to have labored breathing and got him to another veterinarian where they said the same infection got worse because Dr. Jeff LaHuis prescribed the dog with an antibiotic that was too weak and to top it off Dr. Jeff LaHuis charged my grandfather $900. The other veterinarian clinic found this to be absurd and gave my grandfather's dog two stronger antibiotics more suitable for the severity and will run more tests for around $400.
