Here you will be able to see the opinions of real people who consumed the products and services of St Thomas Walk-In Medical Clinic (Hospital) in the area of Saint Thomas (Canada).
As of day the firm receives a rating of 2.2 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 42 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is quite insufficient, and it is based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are satisfied, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital corresponds to the category of Walk-in clinic.
This place should be ashamed and embarrassed. The city of St Thomas should be embarrassed. Call in to try and book an appointment, one phone line busy and 15 people in the waiting room all calling. God only knows what the emerg must look like but common cold is NOT a place to bring a child to emerg. This is by far, the worst clinic experience I’ve encountered. I understand Covid. I get it. But SEPARATE ATE THE COVID SCREENINGS FROM THE WALK INS! Not only that, it’s the ONLY walk in here in St Thomas. We are new to town and left our old family doctor until we can get a new one. How is this the ONLY walk in after hours? Absolute JOKE! First Google review ever written and hopefully the last.
Waited to over 2 hours to get in just to see the dr., poorly run and office staff has a very poor attitude. Disappointed. Although Dr. was super to deal with.
Very good experience. Was worried after reading the reviews. Receptionist was excellent. Wait time quite short. Doctor Hertwig was wonderful! Would go again for sure.
So when you show up at 5:30 you have to call in. After you give all your information you then wait 1 hour to get a phone call and maybe get service. This is very frustrating. I was told the doctor doesn't show up till 6:00. So they will start with a back log of people waiting. This doesn't sound like a great way to run a clinic. I realize we are in a pandemic but we need to get things back to somewhat normal. After waiting this long I should have just went to emergency room. I would have gotten faster service. ????
Terrible hours
I had recently injured myself by stepping on a nail and I arrived 15 minutes before they close, but despite that; Dr. Hertwig was friendly as ever and gave me a Tetanus shot (Td type). He is extremely personable and makes you feel comfortable from the moment he sees you. You feel like you're long time friends having a talk. The waiting area is small, but I've seen smaller and you're there to get healthcare - the doctors are what matters. There aren't any arrows to tell you where to go in the building (which is a medical center) but the clinic (Suite 105) is located on the first floor to the right if enter the back where you park.
Yes, the receptionist can seem rude. However, she is swamped with patients, and tries her best to get people in and out quick. She's the only one who registers patients, cleans the exam rooms, calls in the patients and prepares all the paper work, PLUS reception duties. With ALOT OF PEOPLE waiting and watching. Give her some credit. She doesn't have to be nice. She just has to do the job. Which she does. Not her fault the set up let's everyone hear your personal information. It is what it is. Don't like that, then go to London to one of their clinics I guess. ????????♂️
I was hoping the reviews were wrong... nope. the receptionist is unbelievably rude and disrespectful and makes you yell your personal info repeatedly.
Took my daughter in to the clinic. She saw Dr Hertwig. Phenomenal with kids!
Bad hours
My wife and I came in early on a Sunday morning to make sure we could be seen. The check-in process is completely unacceptable. The receptionist speaks loudly and cannot seem to hear over the music she has playing. EVERYONE in the room can hear each patient's reason for coming to the clinic, what medications they are on, their phone number, and their address. While we were there, one patient asked if she could write down the information instead or just tell the doctor. The receptionist said that wasn't an option and she needed the information immediately for the paperwork. How is it not a privacy violation to let everyone hear everyone else's personal information? At the very least it can be very embarrassing. There needs to be some kind of change to the room's layout or the manner in which the information is collected. We were fortunate to be seen fairly quickly by Dr Ho, who did a great job and has a great bedside manner. Our issues were only with the clinic itself, not the doctor.
Only 5pm - 9pm?? With no other walk in clinic in town?
If I could give 0 stars I would. I lost my partner just a few days ago to colon cancer. He went to this clinic several times because of a pain in his side. He was never told to get any scans done, he was never instructed to do anything to further look into the problem. And considering his age they should have. They just passed him over like it was nothing. I would suggest that if you encounter another patient with complaints of pain that are persistent, that you refer them to specialists, rather than sending them home to think that everything is okay - when it most certainly is not. My heart is broken, and the doctors here failed us.
I visited this Walk-In clinic and after seeing the Dr. I was told that an appointment would be made for me to see a Surgeon, to leave the note with the receptionist and that someone would call me. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard from anyone, how long is a person supposed to wait?? How conscientious and professional in taking their responsibilities and duties seriously..added;;; I eventually got the appt. On January 29th it had been faxed to Dr. Hertwig, not my family doctor. I received the letter, (not the phone call I was expecting) in the mail the last week of February with a details of the surgeon, date, time and place.
Its good. It can get busy though!
Went there because of a week-long throat infection. Read the reviews before I went. Maybe the receptionist was a different one than everyone else had, but she was very pleasant to me and everyone else there that day. Dr. Richter was in that day. She was very quick (positive) with everyone. She was able to diagnose my ailment, write the Rx and have me on my way quickly. Very friendly also. The wait before seeing her was a while, but that's what you have to expect at a walk-in clinic
Cant even enter building have to call but the line was busy for the full 3 hours this place was open. I literally cant get medical attention because I might be sick
Very tiny waiting room with a capacity of only 15 or so seats. Everyone in the room is within earshot of the receptionist desk. Certainly does not make it a pleasant experience to share any personal and medical information. There needs to be a larger facility that allows for such discretion.
New to the province so I arrive before opening and sit in the lobby waiting for door to open. The doc even walks by me After 20 mins I decide to call to see if they are opening the door. They advise they are not taking walk in just phone in consultation. The doc will call you if he wants you in. There was a sign on the door but very small print saying to Phone
good place :)
My first experience with this clinic. Let me say I'm writing a major complaint I have a lipoma on my back that got infected. I just wanted the on call Dr to look at it to make sure it was ok until Monday when I see my doctor, you know a medical opinion over my own. I had my husband cover it with a bandage as it was unreachable for me. The old quack on call wouldn't remove the bandage to look at it. He wanted me to remove the bandage but I couldn't; IMPOSSIBLE given the spot (middle of back). He said he couldn't remove it to look at it but wanted to prescribe a medicine based on what I said, the non medically educated. Just wow, is, all I can say. I just walked out. I'll call my family doctor Monday right after I put a major complaint in at the highest level that I possibly can. Advise anyone not to go to this clinic. Skip it, your illness or issue is worth more attention than this clinic is able to provide. His old age is preventing him from making good medical decisions in my personal opinion. And I'm sorry but COVID-19 IS NOT A FRIGGEN EXCUSE ANYMORE especially when you're fully vaccinated and better dressed than he was. Unbelievable service these days eh! Stellar...NOT
Had an excruciatingly painful knee cap area, phoned in Saturday to set a time with receptionist who was fantastic and helpful. Dr called back as scheduled, diagnosed problem, prescription sent. Now Sunday and I can walk the dogs and live again. Thanks so much
I would actually prefer to suffer with my illness the next time then have to deal with the very loud, rude and completely unprofessional receptionist at this walk in clinic. Terrible to say the least ... Just terrible ! I'd write more of a reveiw here but I'm at a loss for words. No respect for patience or their privacy. A very unpleasant experience over all!
Most unpleasant experience! The receptionist is completely lacking any personality and confidentiality is non existent until you see the doctor. I now know why about 20 people were here and where they live! To top it off, after waiting over an hour and a half and three people who came in after my mother were seen ahead of her, I went to Ms.Charming and asked when mom's turn would be. She dug through piles of papers, asked if she had checked in yet, and finally found her intake form in a pile of filing on the opposite side of the desk....her response? Not sorry....not oh my mistake...instead, she looked at the intake time and the time on the next chart she had in line and said..."i dont what happened there, she can be next." There's got to be better options!
The ignorant and atrocious receptionist is still there. Seriously, HOW does this woman have a job. She is incompetent (messed up 3 peoples paperwork) and wicked. The whole time I was there everyone in the waiting room was talking about how shocking it is that someone like that works with other human beings. Whoever is keeping her on should be ashamed of themselves.
The receptionist is extremely rude. She needs to find a new a job that she actually enjoys. I haven't been to the walk in clinic in probably 15 years and she is still exactly the same and completely the worst. Go away. 1 star is very generous.
Visited doctor which was pleasant. Sent me for X-rays and now I’m awaiting results and other scan I was arranged to go to. Sounds great but this was back in august. Left voicemails and no response. I guess I will just suffer in pain
Check in was unacceptable. Receptionist was unwelcoming, grumpy, and rude. Sunday, Dec 3, 2017, 10:45 am.
Because the help you right away if they can
Other then the receptionist being rude, loud, disrespectful, and uncaring, she was a sweet lady. NOT! People are coming to this clinic because they are sick and not feeling well, they should never have to deal with someone like this. If you hate your job that much, look for a place where you never have to smile.
Awful experience. Receptionist is border line rude. But I guess if you're the only option in the city you can be and do what you want. I never even made it to see the doctor. Makes the drive to London worth it.
They should tell you on the phone that the doctor will not see you if your unvaccinated. My initial intake phone call, the lady said “wait in the parking lot and the doctor will tell you if you should come in or not” Waited in my car for over an hour for a call back from the doctor… to find out I wouldn’t be accept in, phone call only (which was fine doing my appointment over the phone) Very frustrating. I would have just called from home.
I'll agree that the room is very small and there is no privacy when asked about why you're in. The receptionist is not the most personable, HOWEVER, it was very quick ( there was about ten people waiting as it opened ahead of me and I was out within the hour) and the doctor is very kind and thorough.
Never in my life have I seen a receptionist be rude to every patient checking in. She was rude and snippy to everyone. I honestly couldn't believe it. The Dr was great but if you are going to go prepare yourself for the ignorant receptionist. Also be prepared for everyone to hear why you are visiting, your address, etc.
Tried to call for walk-in hours, was unable to connect with anyone for about 20 minutes of non-stop calling. One call got through, the receptionist cut me off before I could even get through why I needed to see a doctor, tried to put me on hold, and failed so I got to hear the sounds of her struggling with the phone. Great experience thank you St. Thomas Walk-In Medical Clinic 10/10 would recommend. Hopefully your patients are mostly dead already.
Good luck getting an appointment if you actually need one generally 2 to 3 weeks waiting !!
I will state that once you are in a Dr's room, the process is great and the Dr's are great....however, just like the majority of posts I cannot say enough about the perceived rudeness of the receptionist and her insistence on making each person there yell out loud what they are there for and what all their personal information is. Maybe its a set up thing or the receptionist has an issue with acoustics but something really should be addressed at the check in stages of this clinic.
My last experience was very positive. It was a very busy day so even though we got there shortly after they opened the waiting room was full. However the receptionist was friendly and handled the situation very professionally. Dr. Morrison was also thorough and not rushed and I was very pleased with my visit and his diagnosis.
