Arrived early for my appointment; since it was my first time at this location, they took some time to verify personal information. Appointment was on-time and they ran through usual prep and testing. The medical staff were perceptive enough to realize that my eyes were still forcing themselves to focus through lens testing, so they super numbed and dilated my eyes to ensure a proper reading. Dr. O'Connor was the absolute best. He explained in great detail what he believed was the issue, as well as a game plan to get started on, and to book a follow-up if required for further analysis and continued treatment options. Super professional but also very easy-going (all of the staff). I asked specific questions and they not only answered without hesitation, but answered in an amazing amount of detail and with tons of patience for my curiousity. These people are passionate about their profession and it shows. Parking was a bit of a gongshow but eventually found somewhere to park. Definitely my go-to from now on.

Best damn Eye Institute there is by far anywhere in the world. Dr. Hurley & Dr. Gottlieb rock the house with specialty eye care and all the staff are always friendly and always have smiles on their faces.

I was seen the same day as my optician referred me as they were worried it was something serious. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The optometrist took the time to explain everything very clearly, and he sought a second opinion from his senior when he wasn't sure about something (I was a weird case). Overall the care was excellent - really thorough and thoughtful.

I am so upset with my LASIK laser eye surgery. My eyes are WORSE after getting my surgery. It's been 6 months since my surgery and the people I meet with (who have been different every time so I question my continuity of care) just tell me that my eyes will improve. But my vision is way worse than before. My close up vision has become terrible. I would give a 0-star review if I could. I am very upset and wish I never got this surgery with the Eye Institute at the hospital.

Doctors and staff are very helpful

Gave me medical advice which caused seizures. Gave me medicine which caused me to go blind. Parked my wheel chair next to the men's room because there was no accessible area in the waiting room, cancelled eye tests because my wheelchair would not fit in the tiny little examination room that they wanted me to squeeze into. Expected the blind people or those with low vision, to read signs! Staff had no training on how to guide someone. Refused meetings with other agencies to correct these problems. Not world class. Well, possibly a world class failure if you use a wheel chair and are low vision as well.

Before going through with my corrective laser surgery I went for consultations at LasikMD, Focus Eye Centre, and The Eye Institute. Ultimately I ended up going with The Eye Institute because I felt they were the most concerned with overall care and outcome. To give some examples both Focus Eye and LasikMD have "tiers" of pricing based on the procedure you opt for, and both conveniently recommended the most expensive as the "best" procedure for me. The Eye Institute charges the same amount for all of their procedures which is still significantly less than LasikMD and Focus Eye. One very important detail that convinced me to ultimately go with The Eye Institute was that at LasikMD and Focus Eye you have the option of reducing cost by not choosing the "wavefront guided" procedure or however they've branded it at their particular clinic. I asked about this at The Eye Institute since it wasn't advertised like it was at Lasik and Focus and they said they do not offer procedures without this technology because it is so effective it would be unethical not to make use of it. Pricing aside, the care I received at The Eye Institute was very good. All questions and concerns I had were taken seriously and answered thoroughly (even when I felt I was being a bit of a hypochondriac). I'd like to thank the entire team at The Eye Institute for freeing me from glasses and contacts. I would recommend any of my friends and family who need an eye-related procedure of any kind go to The Eye Institute.

(Translated) I was diagnosed with a tear in the retina around 12:00 in Quebec, I was referred to the eye institute. Arrived at the General Hospital around 2:00 p.m. I was received in French by all the speakers. I had a laser surgery in the late afternoon, and left the hospital around 5:00 p.m. Congratulations on a good job, fast, well done, and cordial. This is the best service I have ever had in the medical field. I was seen within 3 days of my referral, had my cataract done shortly after to accommodate me between my husband's two surgeries. Now again I have been given an excellent appointment as I need to have a small lazering to my operated on eye and again they have accommodated me time wise. Very caring people work there and I had lots of laughs with the nurses while waiting for my cataract to be done. In and out within 2 hours for the actual surgery. I don't understand why they are not rated 5.

Dr. Gottlieb recently did surgery to both of my eyes and I can't say enough good about her. She is extremely professional, shows much interest in your case and both surgeries went without any issues or problems. Also all the staff at the Eye Institute are top notch. Thank you very much. Brian

I brought my Mom for her appointment and from the time that we had checked in the staff were very polite and they really are wonderful. We are very fortunate to have these Ladies and Gentlemen that work for the Eye Institute. When we checked out, there was a beautiful intelligent Lady who gave my Mom information about her next appointment. These Ladies and Gentlemen are very polite, kind, and intelligent. It was a pleasure to accompany my Mom to the Eye Institute today. Thanks to all the Staff for their service especially during the pandemic. May God Bless all the Staff and always have a wonderful day. Cheers. ????????????????????????????❤❤❤????????

What's the point in booking an appointment when you have to wait 3 hours to see a doctor? Not impressed, it's happened every time we needed to come here!

Very warm welcome and very efficient. They attended to my son who's a special need and they supported us from the start until the full recovery. Great work, especially to Dr. MILLER!

This is the most unorganized institution. Went for surgery for my father his appointment was at 11, we arrived at 10:30 and they didn't take him in for surgery until 12:30 because the nurse forgot to tell the surgeon that he was here after we checked in at the desk. They finally came out at 12:30 and asked the nurse that seen us at 10:30 if my dad was here because he had an appointment and the nurse said no, so we had to go to the doctor and tell her we were here. Very unhappy with what had happened. Waited an extra 2 hours in the waiting room for nothing.

J. R. P.

Very pleased with the appointments, excellent results after the cataract surgery. Dr. G. Miller was astounding and excellent Beyond his required needs! This hospital and personnel do try their very best to accommodate and assist you. Three times trying to locate the eye institute while in the Hospital, personnel came to me and asked if I needed assistance and directed me without hesitation.

Outstanding clinic Dre.Fournier is the best

Dr. Gottlieb was over 1.5 hours late to the appointment and made disrespectful comments in response to my questions.

Dana Gray

What a horrible eye opening experience, no pun intended! Let me start by sharing how long it took for my "appointment". It was booked by them for 2:30. I arrived at 2:10 and registered. Never once was I personally told by reception that they were "running behind", which by previous reviews and the chat by other patients is very routine. I overheard others asking about the wait and were told they were running about 1 1/2 hr. behind. They posted a sign on the desk stating they were behind 1 hour! I got called in at 5:15, had an exam and had drops put in my eyes to dilate my pupils, sent out to wait 25 minutes. I was called back into a room at 6:00, the resident showed up at 6:30 to finish the exam. I left the hospital at 6:45. Let me repeat that this was a scheduled appointment! The resident never once thanked me for being patient or apologized for the dreadfully long wait for my appointment! I did have the pleasure of hearing other drs. say this to other patients. Could I offer a suggestion or two.......book appointments and keep time, treat patients like humans. This is not how people want or need to spend time, especially for scheduled appointments. Imagine if I showed up 3 hours late for my appointment, checked in and left for an hour and returned for curt service! How would TOH eye institute handle my service? I think I know the answer. I and everyone else who comes to you pays dearly for this service, and deserve timely, respectful scheduled appointment care! Please think about the service you provide and ask yourselves if you truly think this is the best care people deserve! Tired and dizzy, hope never to have an appointment like this again!

I contacted my optometrist regarding what I believe is a floater. I went to the General Hospital the same day as instructed: June 15. I was advised they have no equipment to look at the retina of the eye. I had a pupil constriction test, read an eye chart and answered questions. Dr Dewhirst informed me, that he could only see 5-10% of my eye. He had no idea, if I had a small tare that needed repair. I was not seen by the eye institute, nor have I received an appointment to be seen by an opthomogist surgeon as indicated by Dr Dewhirst. It was 6 hours of driving and waiting, with no progress or further contact.
