I have mixed emotions about the care I've received at this hospital, I feel like a frequent flyer when it comes to Lakeridge Health, so I'll write about my most recent stay.
I ended up on a ventilator for 4½ days , spending a total of 9-10 in the I.C.U.
I've never experienced a more qualifying team of doctors, nurses, aftercare therapists, respiratory therapist, counselors, pharmacist, etc.
They work as a team to assure you receive the best possible care, the nursing staff's bedside manner is impeccable ( of course there's always 1 or 2 bad apples on every tree), but I don't want to take away from all the good this department represents by mentioning a couple of bad experiences.
Each and every staff member goes above and beyond to provide you with the best possible care, and being solely dependent on the nurses for EVERYTHING, not once do they act as if you're bothering them, they care for you in a way that allows you to hold onto as much dignity as possible, and that's important as you're already on a emotional rollercoaster.
Even after you're moved from the I.C.U, for the first 24-48 hours they send one of their nurses in the mornings and in the evenings to check that you're continuing with your progress.
Unlike other floors that are quick to send you home, only to have you return the following month( this is my 5th hospital stay in 5½ months. The I.C.U department makes sure you're mentally and physically ready to go home, and with that is the offer of aftercare that's best suited for you.
Each member works extremely hard , often going above and beyond the call of duty.
I went into hospital vulnerable, I left with a new perspective on life.
I'll NEVER forget my time in the I.C.U, and thanks just doesn't seem like it's enough.
Kudos to the best staff I've encountered by far at Lakeridge Health.
