Just want to thank the entire team for the amazing care they gave our dog Ripley. She spent four nights at the hospital and it was a very scary time for us. They gave us great updates, answered all our questions and reviewed options. As a result of the care she received our girl Ripley is doing much better and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤

I just came back with my cat after two days being in the clinic for surgery (obstruction in the intestines). If I could rate them 6 stars, I would do it without a doubt. You guys are freaking awesome! Let's start from the diagnosis. I brought my cat Monday morning (2 AM) and they took good care of him, examined him and performed tests. The x-rays didn't reveal anything clear, so I decided to bring my cat back home and monitor him (which was one of the options I was given). I was explained what could be causing my cat's discomfort, but the doctor told me to give it some time to see how my cat's condition evolved. Unfortunately, by Tuesday afternoon, my cat wasn't doing great, he was hiding, not eating and hunched up (clear signs of abdominal pain), so I called them back and urged me to bring him back to the clinic for further examination. I did as I was told, and 3 hours later, my cat was going into surgery due to a blockage in his intestine. It was not only caught on time, but accurately diagnosed. The x-rays took that day were reviewed by 2 different doctors in a matter of minutes, and they both agreed surgery was necessary and urgent. They gave me the option of having another test done, but told me it would only add to the bill given that the were almost 99% sure of what was going on with my cat. And obviously, in the interest of time for my cat's well being, the best next option was the surgery, which was communicated to me along with the risks of the surgery. This only shows professionalism at its finest, and also caring for my bud. Additionally, from the receptionists, to the technicians and the doctors, they all showed so much concern and the cared so much about my pet, I felt my cat was the only patient there, since everything was done promptly and everyone seemed to know what was going on with him. Which was a surprise, because I was there for hours and the amount of patients that come and go is tremendous. So really, if you want the best experience in difficult times, and your pet to be cared after, please bring them here. Also, there was a constant communication between the clinic and me, on the days prior to the surgery, they called me at least once a day to check on my pet, which was awesome. And after the surgery, the doctor called me twice (the surgeon himself!) to give me a status update on my cat, the possible future developments and how we should act in case any of those situations was presented. My cat wasn't eating after the surgery, so one of the possible things was to insert a feeding tube, which the doctor was trying to avoid at all costs (given the discomfort it can cause). He finally gave me the option to bring my cat back home, to discard stress as a cause of his not-eating behaviour, which I gladly accepted (since I missed him dearly) but of course, they gave me all the instructions on how to take care of him and when to bring him back to the hospital in case of emergency. The facilities are outstanding, they are even better than several clinics I've been to as human. They have procedure rooms, a rehab centre, just to mention some perks. They understand pet owners' feelings and allowed me to see my cat after surgery several times without hesitation. Even right after the surgery, I had to bring him his food, and since he wasn't ready for visits yet, one of the technicians kindly asked for my phone and took some pictures in his little cage, which was awesome! That night I was able to sleep better thanks to that. Finally, prices can be considered high, but I guess that depends on the person. I don't like to be cheap with my cat, and save some pennies which in the long run may result in even more expenses and probably more issues for my cat's health. I was always communicated the prices of the procedures, or a range in which the cost could fall, before anything was done. I don't have a lot of money, but I told them money wasn't an issue, since I just wanted my cat to be healthy. I will definitely bring him again, if there are future emergencies!

This clinic saved my dog last year during Covid19. He had developed severe otitis causing meningitis and they referred me to a clinic in North York with a neurologist and surgeon available over the weekend to save my dogs life. My humble apology.

The hospital seems like a well oiled machine. Very organized, and although we had to wait a while, we were quite pleased with the compassion and care our dog received. If only our health care system was so well run!

If I could give this vet 0 stars I would. The service is terrible. I brought in my robo dwarf hamster who is in a tremendous amount of pain. He suffered from a hard fall and is having seizures and his eye is bulging out. His behaviour is completely different than before the fall. He is sleeping at night which is not normal for hamsters (they should be running on their wheel all night) and shivering as well as twitching. When I brought him in the ladies were laughing at me and my friend while we were crying and refused to put him down when he is very clearly suffering. They only way they could help is if we spent hundreds of dollars. As we walked out with the hamster the lady at the front desk proceeded to say "WOOWWW" and they all laughed as the door closed. TERRIBLE PLACE.

Took our fur baby there today after she cut her paw pad pretty deeply at the cottage, and I wanted to make sure I was covering my bases with caring for it properly. Not only were we seen surprisingly quick as a walk in, the service was …

Yeah your team are amazing support when my cat was taken there today and the guy can't even tell gender even after being told and inspecting her. I was told that an X-Ray would be all I needed and it would tell them everything. However after I'm told there might be something in her bowel, I can pay more money to get it checked and then possibly up to 5,000. He then brought up having her put down. Clowns. I would leave less than 1 star if I could. Disgusting humans.

This vet was an absolute life-saver last night when we had to rush my dog for treatment after he had a terrible run-in with a porcupine. They were able to see him quickly and charged significantly less than another clinic had. I appreciate the transparency as well as their kindness to include a complementary nail-trim while my little guy was out from the anesthetic. Thank you so much.

Kind of a waste. My parrot had a cut near his eye, puffy and swollen, got me very worried. Went here to spend 175 (about $50-75 more than other specifically avian clinics) + seperate exam and medicine costs, for anti inflammatories that didn't address the red irritation in his eye. 12 minutes on the phone and brief exam time/175+ dollars. His eye then got worse and I wasn't about to drop another 175 to try again. The result was the same as if I didnt go here. Just info for other concerned bird parents when looking for treatment. Side note, not related to this place specifically, but - unless your parrot is significantly dehydrated, IV is a common vet scam.

Took my dog there to get looked at for a bump above it's eye. The quote for their service was way too high. They still charged me over $200 just to look at the dog and fix nothing! Avoid this place. I went to the animal hospital in Bradfod and they removed an insect larvae in minutes of seeing the dog and threw in some medication all for less than 150. Go to Bradford save a lot of money. Will never go to 404 for anything again. Rip off!

We had an emergency situation with our 10 year old dog. They gave her the best care they could and were very compassionate. They explained her situation to us clearly and honestly. Their prices are completely reasonable for emergency services, we actually paid less than the vet had initially quoted. We brought her Saturday around midnight and had to return Sunday morning to say our goodbyes as her condition had worsened. The staff were incredibly compassionate, explained every step of the process and did not rush us through it. They have an excellent system for caring for pets and their owners when the time comes and although we were devastated, the doctors not only assured us that we had made the right choice at the right time but treated us like family, making it a little easier on us and our girl. Big thanks to this clinic for the outstanding care and compassion that comes with the excellent service they provide.

I have been meaning to leave a review for this clinic for a long time, and just used them again and was reminded of how great they are. I see many negative reviews and to be honest this doesn't surprise me since who really has a great time when the are with their sick pet at an animal hospital? Is it expensive? Absolutely - however, this is just the norm, and any other clinic would charge the same (I believe their entry price is $110-$120). When i say they really do care about your pet, they do. We brought our cat here, and unfortunately left without her. They gave us two choices, and didn't push us or make us feel rushed in any way. They even allowed us to come back to the private area where she was, and although it was sad to see all the tubes, I was so happy I got to be with her. I was absolutely heart broken after they performed the euthanization, and they were so respectful. The vet's allowed me to be alone with her in the room and gave me as much time as I needed. About 3 weeks after, we received a card in the mail, with the vet extending their condolences. I was surprised to see that many of the techs had also signed the card. We had also asked for them to make copies of her paw prints so we could later have them for tattoo's, and they did this right away for us. We have also brought our dog Otis here a handful of times for things like allergies/upset stomach, and other than one time their wait times were very minimal. They are really helpful and warm in the office, and this makes a great space especially for a building that holds a lot of stressful and negative energy. They are also great for over the phone help. Right now with COVID-19, they have techs reaching out to you once you fill out and ER form, and they will help triage/suggest if you need to come or not. We called today as Otis had an accident with his dew claw, and they could have easily told us to come in, when we really didn't need to. Instead, they helped instruct me on what to do, and this saved us a big bill/potential exposure. All in all, this ER animal clinic is great, and we have never had any negative experiences.

Our dog Finn had 2 life saving surgeries at VCA Newmarket . The experience from reception, to the techs and doctors (especially Dr. Scott) was always very good. They were responsive , caring and easy to deal with. The care was excellent and we are very happy with VCA.....THANK YOU VCA

These vets are amazing! They saved my dogs life. Yes they are expensive but the care that you are getting is unmatched by any where else. They even helped get financing and kept the bill as low as possible. We got daily phone calls not just from a tech but from the surgeòns themselves. The staff here are knowledgeable and kind and dealt with a crying owner in such a gentle way. I would highly recommend them whenever your pet's life is in jeopardy. Thank you so much for giving me my Brody back.

After an hour and 45 mins waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather with a sick 4 month old kitten... and another hour and a half of me waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather for ANY type of communication, they finally told me they were running tests after I called to find out what the hell was going on. 30 minutes after I left, they called to say my pet could go home. Absolutely no concern for the fact that it was 30 degrees out. No communication at all. They should have taken my pet inside, sent me home and called me when they were done ... not tell me they had more critical cases and they would get to me when they could.

Thankful that my cockapoo's ear infection and rear limb paralysis was resolved during my visit. Dr. Giglio called multiple times with updates and was pleasant, informative and patient. I went in weary of a quick diagnosis but was pleasantly impressed with the level of care and detail that was provided. Thank you Dr. Giglio!

We took our puppy that was in serious condition.. We were prescribed some antibiotics. When we called and had explained that our puppy had thrown up her antibiotics and to ask if we should give it to her again "the receptionist laughed at this and thought it was funny." Our puppy is dead now, but it wasn't a laughing matter you need to show SYMPATHY for people we know your a business, but there should be a level of customer service that should be upheld. The behaviour of the receptionist who spoke to us is disgusting.

Dec. 9, 2020 - called at 7:57 p.m. to say we needed help and to start intake. 18 year old kidney cat was straining to pee bloody urine. We were in the parking lot as of 8:08 p.m. and called to confirm arrival. I was called at 8:20 p.m. by the tech and we did further questions. I was told they'd be coming to get her. I called again at 9:36 p.m. to see what was going on because my cat had a further accident in her carrier. I was called at 9:51 p.m. and they said they were coming for her shortly. My cat was not taken inside until after 10pm - 2 hours after arrival and I was told she'd be seen right away. I called again at 10:48 pm and was told she was being examined and I'd be called shortly. I called again at 11:19 p.m. and actually, my cat had NOT been examined and the vet was in the middle of a procedure on another animal. I was not able to leave instructions in advance for overnight care. When asked when she would actually, realistically be seen, I was told not before 1 or 2am. I was then told they had 14 patients that evening - at which point I told front desk that I should have been told that at 8pm because there are 2 other emergency clinics which would have taken her if this garbage hospital actually communicated. Absolutely disgusting service. I took her home just before midnight because at that point I was furious with the service and obviously they decided she was not a priority and she could wait to see her regular vet the next morning. FRONT DESK WILL LIE TO YOU. STAY AWAY. Money hungry clinic.

If I could give zero stars I would. I genuinely feel sick writing this. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a total scam and it is disgusting... they take advantage of pet owners who are desperate for answers. An X-ray, an ultrasound and a bottle of pain medication for my dog cost over $1300.00 for zero answers. Nothing has been resolved and they couldn't give me any justification as to why my dog is limping and whining in pain. She came out of this clinic worse than when she went in, she is refusing to walk now and is even growling when I touch her. I never would have taken her here if I knew it would cost the amount it did for minimal to no care at all. It is so evident that this places motives are solely money.

After we spent over 4k with your establishment on my dog to find out she has cancer and were told she needed radiation but there was no knowing it would help her. It would be aggressive treatment. She also has stress colitis from the anxiety of going to vet appointments. Your staff said there wasn't anything else you could do for my pup. We asked for a palliative home care plan for our dog. The advice given was to see a regular vet in 6 weeks. My dog suffered while waiting for your team to get in and then suffered after as well. Aftwr a couple weeks we thought she was going to die. We called a hospices vet to come look at our dog, expecting to put her down. That vet gave us better news and had meds with them to start before they left. My dog is not suffering as much as before and she's doing so much better to now and I wished you had offered us this kind of treatment. I'm very disappointed and disgusted with how it looks that when there isn't big money to be made you just give up and tell people to go away and good luck.

I can absolutely say you will not find a better place to take your baby to. I drive 2 plus hours to see him and do not want any other vet touching my kids. Staff are beyond kind and helpful and go so over and above. Everyone is down to earth and professional. They truly care about your kids and do everything they can to help keep the costs low. They are thorough. I know my dogs have had the most gentle handling and great experience here. You won't find better. Thank you for for always fitting me in. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your help. My chihuahuas will only be with you no matter how many hours away i have to drive. Thank you again.

I find the staff at this clinic to be very knowledgeable and caring for the animals they see. My questions are always handled with patience and I never feel as though I am a bother (even though I am sure I often am!). …

When my dog Turner was having issues they took her in immediately and gave her vip care. I trust the team, they are knowledgeable and kind and made sure my dog came out of their doors alive and healthier than when she was carried in. Incredibly impressed and grateful.

We had to call the 404 emergency vet clinic twice for our 2 year old cat. They were not only supportive but also incredibly compassionate, patient and answered all of our questions. Such a comfort to know we have such dedicated veterinarians and vet assistants who are going to love our fur babies as theirs. Thank you VCA Canada 404 vet

Went to this emergency clinic yesterday with my dog who was suffering from a UTI. Arrived at 4pm and at 6pm I asked how much longer as I have a very senior dog at home and a puppy that can’t go too long without bathroom breaks and food. I was told it was at least another couple of hours. If I had been told that when I arrived , I would have gone elsewhere but by then it was too late. My dog literally needed a 10 minute consult. Wound up leaving and got an appointment the next day with a vet in Newmarket.

Yesterday was our first time bringing our dog coco to this emergency vet. This was the only clinic that was able to take in our dog right away ( we had called 5 emergency vet clinics)I’m so thankful they were able to take her in when they did, the staff was super helpful and I’m beyond thankful for the vet and techs who were able to take care of our coco and make her comfortable and well enough for us to bring her back home !

I have used the 404 on several occasions - both for emergency treatment and as a referral hospital, and I am always very happy with the service provided. Most recently I needed their emergency service and was not disappointed. My girl …

They took great care of my dog who ingested a toxin and required immediate attention. It was really scary but they assured me she would be okay and only charged $35 for a test. Very affordable for the knowledge and support they provided.

Our cat, Bisous, is not just a pet, she’s a part of our family. This week we watched her deteriorate rapidly and felt utterly helpless. The team at 404 was quick to jump in and offer their help - attending to not only Bisous’ health, but also my troubled heart. Tara Harrington (the Client Care Supervisor) was extremely patient, empathetic, and humble. She was able to bring a smile to my face, despite the grey cloud hanging over our shoulders, and made me feel like I was a cherished friend (rather than a client). She offered her genuine opinion, and helped my husband and I find the best option to finance the expensive surgery that was required to save her life. Let’s be clear - a trip to this clinic is very expensive. But you’re paying for board certified surgeons that are the best of the best. In some cases this may not be necessary (a less qualified vet may be able to jump in), BUT if you fur baby has a complicated emergency this is the place to be. While I hope you never need to visit 404, all I can say is: you’re in great hands.

Honestly so impressed with the staff! I have a fear reactive Chihuahua which makes vet visits super difficult and stressful. I went in worried my little guy would probably have to be sedated because he was having his eyes checked out (which can be scary for fearful dogs having strangers in your face). My little guy was so much more calm than I have ever seen him! Despite there being many new people (vets and vet techs) in the room and being handled by them, he was not reactive at all! They were all so kind and very well educated and ended up giving us a diagnosis and peace of mind for a lifelong issue of his. The fee for seeing a specialist was definitely worth it!! I no longer have to worry about issues that other vets didn't have answers for or spend hundreds of dollars on "this might help" temporary fixes. I am so happy I came to this clinic.

We have been taking our cat and dogs to 404 for acupuncture and rehabilitation. The service we received there has been excellent. Dr. Mosley has been incredibly compassionate, supportive and accessible . We recently had to euthanize our 20 year old cat and we ended up going to 404, it was positive experience during a very difficult time.

I took my cat here on the holiday Monday evening. I was particularly stressed out about having her seen because she was unwell and I would be leaving the country for 10 days the following day. The vet NEVER came to see her and the nurse did not even touch her. I thought she had a urinary tract infection, which I explained. The nurse came back after about 1 hour and said that I could attempt to get a urine sample at home and bring it back. I locked my cat up by herself, stressing her out even more, and finally got the sample and returned it that night. The next day when I finally got a follow up call from my own vet, she told me that they didn’t even test my cats urine... they just discarded her sample. This was extremely annoying to me, because I then had to proceed having my boyfriend look after her and try to get another sample. Why would you make me get a sample for nothing??? This is horrible customer service. I will not return.

Brought my puppy here around midnight one night due to some issues got there they put me in a room right away they said just a few minutes we waited about 20 to 30 min until vet came in... the assistant nurse came in twice to check on us and ask some questions. The Male Night time vet is very nice guy wanted to run a bunch of tests some i feel were not needed but I agreed just in case. So an hour later they came back and wanted to keep my pup overnight on IV fluids and collect urine sample I did agree due to her symptoms. They did draw me up a quote about 1800 for blood work urinalysis xray IV fluids overnight stay. Next morning they called said they found infection in her uterus said she needed to be spayed we were reluctant because we want to breed her when she's old enough once! then fix her! They tried to push for an immediate spay we said no whats the other options. They said antibiotics i feel like this was a try to grab some extra money from us! And was not even told all the options just was told to spay her immediately. We chose antibiotic route. They told us come at 1pm to get her!!! we sat there 1 hour from 1 to 2 and our dog still was not ready to leave we were told to wait because the vet was with another patient.... we didn't end up getting our dog until 3pm!!!! And at 3 vet was still busy i had to tell them to give me my dog now !!!! rudely. So vet technician brought her out ... and gave her to us! Waste of two hours! Of our dog in cage in back and us sitting in waiting room!!! After they got our money the night before they didn't seem to give a sh*t making us wait two hours for our dog. They gave us results for everything said they would call us later that day for the urinalysis results.... they did not call us that day or the next finally I called on the third day asking results they said they had to get vet to call me when she had time later that day. They did not call so finally the next day after me calling again i did speak to female vet was told my dog needed antibiotics for a uti. They did find out what was wrong! but the lack of good customer service is where it all goes wrong plus once you pay they don't seem to care you have to follow up with them! Don't expect them to remember.

My dog wasn’t feeling well after going a walk and I was beyond concerned. I took him to 404 Vet Hospital and in less then 2 hours they were able to examine him, give him an injection and send him back home with me. They did not take advantage what so ever and I know now where I will be taking my dog if there is ever another emergency. Thank you to your vet team! I did not feel rushed, they stayed on the phone with me and answered all of my questions. Really appreciate it and recommend it.

I am in the automotive business and people think our industry is bad for prices. This clinic takes advantage of people everyday. I don't think they own pets themselves, and if they do, they obviously aren't paying over $1,000.00 just to see what is wrong with their pet. That is just another form of theft. Not to mention the wait time of over 4 hours just to get this done. Clinics like this should feel ashamed for charging customers this way. It is unjustifiable.

We can not thank the staff at VCA 404 enough for the compassionate care they gave to our sweet boy, Steve. After months of being run around by our family vet with no answers, we were referred to the Internal Medicine Team at VCA 404. Dr. Walter and her team took only 48 hours to diagnose our boy with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Dr. Walter and the team put together a Chemotherapy protocol for our boy and started his treatment immediately. His treatment took place during a province wide Covid-19 lockdown and we were so worried his treatment might be delayed, but members of the Internal Medicine team made his treatments a priority and rearranged appointments so that he received all of his treatments on schedule! They were so dedicated to his care. Unfortunately, we caught his cancer too late and we lost our sweet boy a few weeks into his treatment, but we can not sing enough praise for the Internal Medicine team at VCA 404. They took such diligent, loving care of our Steve during the darkest hour our family has ever faced and they deserve to be recognized for it. Thank you, we appreciate you all, for everything you do! Love from The Eadie Family

we had to take our old sick dog on the weekend to the vets but our regular vet was closed so we ended up taking him here for the first time. They rushed us in immediately and our dog was seen and we were given a proper diagnoses with options on how to proceed. Everyone was so sweet, nice and caring. Thank you so much for taking care of our sweet boy while he was with you ❤️

I am so impressed with the service I received from every single staff member I spoke with. they were all so very kind, compassionate and pleasant. Dr. Allegrini is a treasure and I wish she could be my full time vet. my bill was less than half of what I expected. recommend highly.

After dealing with Animal Welfare and appointments with other vets we were referred to Newmarket to get a severely abused kitten assessed. We were under the impression that the owners of the kitten were under investigation by Animal Welfare and the vet in Newmarket would not release the kitten back to where it was abused. The kitten was on an I V drip and was in critical condition yet it was released back to the abusers within a couple of hours, not only did they give the kitten back they gave it back to them in our cat carrier. I feel that Newmarket being in charge of the welfare of this kitten should not of released their responsibilities of care to someone who is known to of not cared for this poor kitten in the first place. We have rescued numerous cats for over 30 years, we have dealt with many vets, in my opinion Newmarket is by far the most irresponsible one we have had to deal with. As the pictures show this was a very serious situation the kitty was in.

Dr. Justin Levasseur, Laura, and the team at the 404 Vet Hospital were wonderful to work with during the difficult decision to put our beloved Meca to rest on December 25. The team was responsive and compassionate. They walked us through the process and gave us plenty of time with our girl.

My dog has a small piece of branch stuck on the roof of his mouth at the back of his molars and could not swallow properly. We rushed him to the hospital and they took him in right away when I indicated it seemed like he was in distress while we were waiting. They got the piece of branch out so quickly and sent us on our way. What a huge relief. I felt like he was in really good hands there. Thank you to the staff that helped him. I am forever grateful !!!

My Husband and I had to rush our 2 yr old Chihuahua mix in last night after a sudden collapse and vomiting. The staff helped us right away and took excellent care of our baby. The vet's and technicians explained everything to us and were quickly able to diagnose him with a sever allergic reaction. They gave us all our treatment options and were able to treat our baby right away. Today he is doing amazing and it is all thanks to the staff at 404 Emergency and Referral Hospital. On behalf of our family Thank You so much for you compassionate and professional care!

I had a great first time experience at 404 Vet. My 10 year old pooch had 3 seizures in one day, 404 were great at seeing me at 10pm at night, explaining clearly what my options were and making me feel sure she was in good hands when I chose …

I would highly recommend this 24/7 veterinary emergency clinic. The staff were kind, professional and very dog-friendly (not out experience at the emergency clinic down the road). Our dog was well taken care of by vet tech Laura Perry and Dr. Levis who each took the time to explain everything in a very compassionate way. Service was swift and reasonably priced. The consultation fee was $137 and included an examination and some extra testing (QATs). We had a good feeling when in the waiting room we met a couple who drives all the way from Pickering for pet emergencies because of the amazing service here in Newmarket - now we know why!

I took my 4 years old dog, who is a rescue and can not walk, to this clinic because of a 2 day high fever. The staff at reception were great and friendly. After initial assessment, I was told that he needs to be hospitalized. Since he was refusing to eat for the last 24 hours, I agreed to keep him there for couple of nights in hope that he will receive some intravenous fluid to keep him hydrated and for the source of fever to be discovered. Next morning, I went back to check on him. They took me inside where they keep animals. I approached his cage and my dog was even unable to shake tail for me. To my surprise, he was more dehydrated than when I left him. He would only opened his eyes when I called him. There were no water or food within his reach. As I am writing this, I still shake in anger and sorrow. I asked why there was no water and was told by staff that water was just removed from his cage. I asked for him to be taken out of the cage. When I offered him water he drank a full dish of water immediately. I asked to talk to the vet. After waiting for half an hour she showed up. She told me they were unable to locate the source of fever. I asked why there was no water available, why his mouth is dry she said since he was receiving intravenous fluid there were no need for water! Since I am a doctor myself, I asked to check his medical chart over the last night to see how much fluid he was receiving. It was not even half of the amount he was supposed to receive(according to weight, dehydration and fever). I got very upset and asked who is responsible for this. Instead of accepting her fault and trying to fix it, the vet told me that she will not argue my dog's treatment with me and tried to minimize my concerns for my poor dog who was burning in fever to financial concerns and the costs that I had payed so far. when I found out talking to her is pointless I asked to talk to the chief of hospital who was not available at the time. Since my dog was ill and i did not want to waste anymore time I asked for a copy of his medical chart including the details of intravenous fluid he had received to take him to another hospital downtown Toronto. The staff at reception told me that according to the vet I am not allowed to have a copy of the overnight stay chart!! and that only the results of tests will be sent to the next hospital I chose to take my dog to. I was so devastated at the time by my beloved dog sickness and my poor choice to keep him for a night without water and food in that clinic that I did not argue back. I took my dog to another hospital where he was diagnosed with a large abscess in his neck. no need to say that my dog was not even fully examined by the vet at the 404 hospital or the large abscess would have been detected. I gave 2 star for the staff at reception who were helpful. Definitely not recommend the medical care.

I can not begin to even express my gratitude to this veterinarian office. They are compassionate and caring and helped me through one of the hardest moments in my life. My cat Tie ended up becoming very ill and I called them despite some of the reviews here. They helped me throughout the process, going above and beyond to reach out to me since I couldn’t be there with him (I had surgery so my husband had to take him), and showing nothing but a deep understanding with me. Sadly my cat had to be put down, but the staff talked me through the entire process and left nothing out. It was a tragic moment letting go of our beloved guy, but it could have been so worse with an office that didn’t show the level of caring, empathy, compassion, and professionalism that they displayed. Thank you guys 100% over!

This place was absolutely fantastic! We brought a little cat here because she was having breathing problems. They took her to the back immediately put her on oxygen did some X-rays and came to a conclusion very quickly about her condition. Price is fair, it is pretty on par with what you would pay for your regular/normal vet. They're very friendly and care so much about your animals. When they got extremely busy new people that came in they suggested they go to the other emergency clinic down the street, sounds odd but I commend them for that because they cared so much about the animals they didn't want them waiting when they knew they couldn't get to them very fast. It's not normal to send people to your competition but they do that because they care more about animals than they seem to about money. It is also very clean, well kept, and very modern.

I cannot begin to describe how amazing this clinic is after the nightmare I had to deal with at another emergency vet clinic. The doctors at this clinic are caring and thorough with their examinations. I felt they genuinely cared about the well being of my cat when he was there. I was given options to how to proceed with treatments, the pros and cons of each option and I never felt pressured to do anything I wasn't uncomfortable with. At no point did I feel like they were ordering tests that were unnecessary as a cash grab. My experience with this clinic was absolutely wonderful.

I was lucky to talk to a kind receptionist. Don't know much about the rest because I ended up in the ER myself instead of my dog. But I thank that kind person for talking nice to me after a horrible night of jumping from one hospital to another. It is a better place than the ripoff Toronto veterinary ER. Worth a travel.

Really friendly staff, super patient and understanding and they took great care of our dog and sent us home with very clear direction - can't thank the team here enough for helping us

The staff at 404 Vet Emergency made one of the hardest days/decisions of my life as bearable as I could have imagined it to be. From the moment I called them to the last minute when I was sitting there saying goodbye to my baby girl they …

My tiny chiuhuahua was stung by a wasp and started showing signs of an allergic reaction; large bites, skin was pink and her eyes/face were swollen. She also was have difficulty breathing. We described these symptoms to the clinic and were concerned it was only getting worse, we were desperate for medical attention! The clinic had no empathy towards our situation and brushed us off during our entire conversation AND refused to take our chiuhuahua on as a patient. If you won't take emergency situations, why be open as 24hr emergency clinic ? Why make it difficult and push patrons away claiming it to be a 5-8 hour wait ? I realize policies are in place however, this establishment does not care about animals or humans for that matter. The lack of customer service was such a massive turnoff especially in a stressful situation such as this ...makes it even worse ! Who needs the extra stress from talking to an uneducated person with no personable skills. I would not recommend this place AT ALL - bad vibes. I'm greatful they declined my pet, I can only imagine how they would have treated her after the way they spoke with me !

I had a very bad experience in 404 while I took my dog there two days ago. My dog was suffering the kidney disease and was very ill. our family vet suggested us to visit 404 due to the reason that they had more equipment and resources which would help my dog more. We have been in 404 many times in the past few years. My dog's kidney decease was diagnosed there and we went to see the specialist several times for all kinds of tests. As of the recent visit we have expended around $4000 -5000 in 404 Hospital. I called around 5am to the hospital asking for the same specialist we met before and was told she was fully booked but I could go to emergency and the doctor could come to see my dog a little bit to give advices. While I drove my dog there and there was another young doctor saw us. She was very rude while she came to me, questioning me “WHAT ARE YOU DOING” while I was filling the water in a bowl from the faucet for my dog to drink coz he was very thirsty. After a very quick check, she told me the specialist refused to see my dog because she called me before(don’t know when) but we did not come. I told her at that time my dog's situation was very stable, so we went to our family vet for blood urine tests and medications since the vet was cheaper than the hospital. This young doctor obviously talked to me without going through my dog's file nor checking with our family vet. She gave me the options but to me it sounded like no option but just “GET OUT”. But what annoyed me most was her manner and unprofessional behavior of her and that specialist. My dog is dying but they did not even care, punishing my poor dying dog because we did not come to give their business (what I understand). I was very very upset so I told the front desk I did not like the doctors’ attitude and manner so I would leave now. And then this young doctor came back to me again and gave my poor dog a needle for vomit. Again she gave me the same options and hinted to me to put him to sleep but not in rush (means my dog won’t die that quick). I paid almost $600 for this visit including one internal blood test, one needle, 3-days-pills for vomit and these doctors’ attitudes. My dog died same day evening. While I am thinking back, if I was not fighting with them, they would not give the needle to my dog for vomiting; If I was not told that the specialist could see me as emergency, I won’t go there and waste my time that day; If they cared about my dog, they could check him more in details and gave him a treatment instead of telling me to come back another day; if they were professional with heart, the specialist who knew my dog could at least come out to take a look or said hi, but she did not show up at all. Today is the 2nd day after leaving the hospital, no follow up call from them.

After initially being at another emergency vet for some porcupine quill removal, I called here to switch my dog over as fast as possible to get her out of there (bad vibes, extortion costs etc) 404 was utterly fantastic. Amazing care, honest billing, vet who did the procedure (it was 2am at that point so the name escapes me) was knowledgeable, personable and thorough, the vet techs were phenomenal, the covid safety system was efficient and did not feel impersonal. And the cost was realistic and a pleasant surprise. Easily one of the best emergency clinics I've ever worked with. Would give them 10 stars if I could.

My advice to people is to only go here if you have concerns that are not more than you can afford to lose or more than the price of the pet itself. If it requires an overnight stay, simply keep your money in your pockets. You need to be pragmatic about your decisions with pets. If they are in ‘fatal’ condition and they offer no guarantee, why would you spend $3000-$10000 to just ‘hope’ they might figure out what’s wrong? The animal will most likely pass anyways. Let them do it in peace at your own home and save your bank account. There’s plenty of new pets out there in need of homes. My experience was good when I came in but they left a bad taste in my mouth as I left. Their true intentions come out when you don’t cooperate with their plan for your pet. So don’t be surprised if they give you a hard time or so a lack of enthusiasm when you decline their prosposal. Stand up for what you think is right for your pet and keep emotions out of your decision making.

Based on the reviews of this emergency vet and the other one north of here I'm curious if some reviewers have the two confused. Regardless, my dog walker recommended this one to me and I called after my dog puked a couple times during the day, unlike her usual self. The lady on the phone was patient, very attentive, listened to my concerns/questions and asked her diagnostic questions and gave me some monitoring directions. Great customer service and put my at ease for calling back if needed as I was uncertain after reading the reviews.

Worst set up ever , brought my dog for urgent care and i was told triage is 6-8 hours. I understand less urgent situations can wait but if i feel the need to drive almost an hour for my furry friend to get care i would at the least expect a professional to put eyes on my dog quickly and ensure me waiting is an option ! If humans where treated this way the hospital would be CLOSED !

Our dog was in need of immediate medical attention due to a puncture wound in the neck that was bleeding pretty bad. We waiting for almost an hour before leaving to another emergency hospital. I asked for a compress or anything I could use to slow the bleeding down and no one brought us anything out. Terrible service if you have a real emergency on your hands

I recently just had my 8 year old German Shepherd dog transferred to this clinic from Cambridge. My dog had fallen extremely ill and he needed a more specialized hospital and care. I was BEYOND impressed with this clinic, the doctors and staff. They got to the root of my dogs illness quickly and provided excellent care. He had 24/7 ICU care and even provided me a photo of my boy resting comfortably since I could not be with him due to Covid protocol and I was so worried and missing him dearly. They saved my dog's life. I am truly thankful for the kind and wonderful staff and the amazing doctors in this clinic. I highly recommend this clinic if your pet needs specialized care.

Worst experience. Doctor was unsure of what was wrong with my puppy. Diagnosed us to wait 36_48 hours to see the progress with NO MEDICAL attention. Was quick to charge 150$ . After 36 hours my puppy still did not feel any better and so I called them back. That's when they said in order to see the doctor again there is a 78$ charge since its passed our ^24 hour recheckup^ policy. So I guess that's why the doctor told us to wait an extra 12 hours to ensure no free reexaminations. when I complained a couple of days later, the manager was VERY rude and unpleasant in their response to help my puppy out who was still sick at this point. On top of that, they never allowed me to be present for the examination with my puppy and doctor insisted for us to wait outside (heard our dog scream very loud inside) and finally they had lost the towel I brought my puppy in and gave me a CAT towel instead to wrap my sick helpless puppy. The worst experience I have ever had and highly suggest other medical clinic options. All they care about is money and have a very unprofessional and rude manager employed.

My family and I had the unfortunate experience of having to put our dog to sleep. Having to experience such a sad ordeal, the clinic was so respectful of us and provided us such a dignified service. We were never rushed, they booked our the examination room for us for as long as we needed. They came to check on us often, and explained everything so clearly. The room was so clean, and they made sure she got the best send off possible. They never took advantage of our situation

My cat had to be operated on during the Holiday weekend because she had a bowel obstruction and she was worsening by the hour. I am very glad that we brought her to this clinic. The staff and the doctors were the most professional, caring and respectful of our wishes. I was most pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the diagnosing doctor, Dr. Michael Astin and the surgeon, Dr. Chris Jordan. They have consulted and involved us in the decision making process and informed us regularly about my cat's state throughout the entire process. They have called us before and after the surgery, every step of the way. The quote we were given was quite accurate, the price ending up being the lower end of the quote (obviously this is dependent on additional findings during the surgery and the animal's condition to handle the stress of of it, so we were lucky). Sure, we had to occasionally wait a bit longer, but not sure what some complaining reviewers expect in an emergency clinic, where the most serious cases take priority...Surgeries cost nowadays unfortunately, but we didn't get the impression they wanted to take advantage of the situation, as sometimes is the case in other places. Overall, we thought this is a very professional clinic, knowledgable staff caring of their patients. Many thanks to the doctors and staff for saving my Frida! She is back home feeling a great deal better!

As sad as the occasion was, putting down my beloved pet was a peaceful experience. The facilities were clean and comfortable, the staff was very sympathetic. It meant so much to be to be allowed to be with my cat Jasmine at the end and I knew that she wasn't alone. Kudos to this clinic for making this as easy as it could be.

I just got off the phone with Brenna and she was incredibly kind and helpful! I’m in Toronto and called worried about my rat and she took notes and reassured me and got the doctor’s opinion and even offered me a consultation. I can’t recall the doctor’s name but it was the exotic vet. Thank you to you both for being so sincerely kind tonight.

Emma Butcher

We had to put down our beloved family dog without much warning and the clinic managed it wonderfully. They have comfortable private rooms with separate exits so you don’t have to walk back through the waiting room after your pet has passed. The rooms have mats on the floor so we were able to sit with our dog as he passed. They told us what to expect and gave us plenty of time to say goodbye. The vet and techs were excellent, very kind and professional. It was only about $40 more than our regular vet would charge even though it was during emergency hours. If you have to say goodbye to your pet I’d recommend here even if it’s not an emergency because of how well they handled it and how comfortable the experience was. They made a difficult day as easy as it could be.

Everyone at this clinic went above and beyond to help my dog. They were so amazing and I can't thank them enough!!

1st time here. Our 6 lbs puppy was stepped on with 140 lbs bodyweight. She was screaming so badly. Pup had a wound on the head that didn't look so bad. But was convulsing & would yelp when we touched her in spots, so we thought she was hurt. We were turned away by 6 other places closer to our home but 404 took us in. The staff were kind & kept us updated. The vet took ultrasounds & told us she thought our pup was ok. Thank goodness. But if it had been worse we're grateful 404 was there. Honest place & cost seems fair. Thank you.

Worst experience with a vet ever!!! We took our cat there Wednesday night because he had a really bad hairball that was impairing his breathing. Instead of treating him for it. He wanted to run diagnostics for $2800.00. I told him we're on disability and can't afford it and asked him for a shot to make him throw up but he didn't want to without running diagnostics. I was finally able to get him to prescribe a medication for him to pass the hairball. He was very rude and it seemed that he cared more about the money than to treat my cat. 0 stars and highly NOT recommended. I think it's really fishy that everytime someone has a complaint you never seem to find them in your records. I have a receipt for the visit and medication from your MALE vet Dr Armia Beshay. I also purchased a bag of cat food. So yes I completely sure that I was there. Maybe you should get a better system and record your clients records. And stop telling everyone to call and ask for Scott. It's just another way to NOT deal with the problem which Is that you guys are really horrible when it comes to treating pets and their owners. Shame on you

Thank you to all who helped with my cat Oreo last week. Special thanks to Julia that came to the rescue at the right time and place. Also thank you to Dr Martin and other doctors that helped out. I can not remember everyone but you know who you are. With love from Oreo She's doing great.

Last week I brought my Shitzu at 5 AM to the clinic to be looked at for vomiting , and I was trying to find out what the problem was. The vet ran a series of tests and consulted what it could be and after offering a couple of treatment options ($270.00 blood work and supportive care medication price unknown but I am sure it would be a lot) we decide not to proceed and instead chose to take our dog to his regular vet. When we said this to the vet her response was " Why did you bring him here int he first place"? I think this was inappropriate comment and made me think that it was more about money than the well being of my dog. Thank God we left the clinic . The next day we found out that my dog was fine and full of energy. We have gone to this clinic before and have had excellent service from another vet.

Most redeculece and money grabing place . last week i took my dog there after an ubject was stuck in his throuth. poor dog was in ageny and it was an erent emergency. all they were talkig about was to take %85 of cost beforeadmition otherwisetey wont be able to admit the dog and although they are 27 hours but doctor would not take the dog after 5:45 and they wouldnt care about taking care of the dog and free him from pain. poor dog had to take that pain untill i took him to brichmond animal hospital rightaway they took the dog in and did what needed to be done but unfurtunately damage was to much for the dog to handle and day after we had no choice but to put our love one to sleep???????????????????? thats all because they wanted money before taking the dog in and wouldnt stay a bit longer while they saying that they take emergency untill 6:30 but at 5:45 we were regected???? our dog lost his life after going true lots of pain and ageny????????????????????????????????????. all love for animal and caring for our 4 leged friend are just BS at this place. we find out the price they gave us was about $1000 more than brichmond also. i wish i wasnt waiesting my time trusting this place and was taking my loving dog to brichmond at first place.everytime i remember how my dog died i remember 404 animal hospital part in his death. ????????????????????????????????????

Very caring people. Great follow-up with our regular vet. And when we had to put one of our dogs to sleep, the people at the facility were very kind and considerate. Back again 7 months later when our remaining dog developed cancer and needed surgery. Extraordinary care! I understand why my regular vet (Oak Ridges Animal Hospital) recommends them so highly. From the reception desk to the support staff to top physicians and surgeons, it doesn't get any better than this! Wonderful people! Update: Back again with our dog who was operated on last spring. His cancer returned. Once again the team did an extraordinary job! Everyone at the facility is wonderful!

Dianne Brown

All they care about is money!! I brought my dog there for a second opinion on his complicated case... they would not give me one. They said that they cannot override the referring vet. They wanted to do all kinds of testing and wouldn't look at what was already done. Why didn't someone tell me that before I bothered wasting all the money and time to go there for a second opinion?! Then in addition to that they call your referring vet to check up on you like you are a bad pet owner. Do not bring your pet here.

Hans

Being a new pet owner, I was completely lost when my little lab (Toby) started feeling unwell. When we called the 404 vet emergency, they were super understanding and helpful. The process of getting Toby in was painless. I felt that the vet that was there was very helpful and answered all our questions. She also did an amazing job and examining and providing us with a detailed report. The price is on par with what you would pay on your local vet. We are in the process of changing our existing vet, as it was because of their mess up Toby was in the ER over the weekend. Thank you 404 for all your help.

Our family dog Ruckus passed away suddenly at home two weeks ago. We contacted VCA for information and assistance on how to proceed with after care for our beloved pet. The moment we arrived at hospital, the team was kind, empathetic and caring towards our dog and us family members. We were able to spend a few more moments with him in a quiet and comfortable space. The team supported us with the after care process and explained our options with care and patience. Today we picked up our boy’s remains from VCA and our family was reunited. Although our dog did not receive care while alive and well at this care clinic, we have no doubt that he would have received the best of care there. To the team at VCA, thank you for taking care of our dog and us during this difficult time.

Hello there, I just wanted to share how pleased I was today with the service. The Veterinarian and staff were very compassionate with what we went in for. We brought in a very sick little bunny named Star. Highly recommend the 404 Veterinary Emergency Hospital. We really don't want any more emergencies but if so, wouldn't go anyway else. Many thanks xox

It's terrible to see how these organizations take advantage of our love of our pets. We brought our dog in with some symptoms of vomitting and stomach issues. They asked for $2700 for a diagnosis + 'estimated' treatment. Found another vet that treated our dog for a little under $500. This should be criminal. If you can wait take your animal to your trusted family vet!

The only reason I can't give you five stars is due to your rude secretary. She clearly doesn't understand English well enough, which results in her being frustrated and curt with your customers. We sat there for hours, and we noticed that this was consistently the case, not just with us. What a terrible first impression for your clinic. With regards to other customers making payment complaints before being served etc., we also watched this secretary give one of the customers a hard time... so while the other staff are great (and you may have payment policies stating that animals won't be refused service) the front desk, of all people, should be well aware of these policies. While this customer was doing everything she could to figure out payment, the secretary was still dragging her heels, obviously making the customer more upset not knowing whether or not her dog would be okay. Finally, another staff member intervened and diffused the situation. The customer's plan for payment was actually fine, so if the secretary had just said this from the get-go, this whole situation could have been avoided. As far as treatment is concerned, we have brought our dog here twice, and both times the service was phenomenal. Staff gave us regular updates, thoroughly discussed differential diagnoses, showed us x-rays and blood work, came up with several different treatment plans and discussed the pros and cons of each... they were awesome. You can just tell that the rest of the staff at this clinic genuinely care about your pet. Prices are emergency prices--that is to be expected. Yes, they're expensive, but in an emergency situation, I think this is understandable. And the last time we were here, our vet even waived the ultrasound fee because she wanted to rule out anaphylaxis; this was a definitive tool in which to do so (again, they wanted to do what was best for our pet, so without charge, they provided this service). This is now our 'go to' clinic, despite the fact that we live in Toronto. We most definitely will continue to make the drive. Highly recommend!

Nancy Ling

I recommend this Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital. I contact them and asked for a triage, and after some questions they triaged my dog almost right away by a veterinary tech. I had contacted them by phone 3 times before this in-person visit and each time the veterinary techs were knowledge, compassionate and patient. Thank you! This is after being put on hold for close to 3 hrs by a nearby referral hospital and being 'tiraged' by filling out a form and observing other 'more serious' cases go before us.

I had brought my senior German shepherd, Bear, here for hydrotherapy to help with his DM and arthritis. I’m happy to have brought him here for his last few months, he was handled with so much care and love. All the treatments certainly helped in making his senior life more comfortable and manageable, and we were glad to have gotten a few more months with him. I appreciate all the staff who were very patient, kind and respectful with him and every interaction I have had. I was glad that we euthanized him here as well in the end. The staff prepared a room for all of us to say goodbye to him and we were able to spend all the time before we were ready to let him go. .

My son took his dog to the clinic on Sunday morning, his dog need what we thought was a few stitches for a small cut. They were told it would be surgery and a general anesthesia. Quote was for $1000-1300. I told them to get a second opinion, and hold off until Monday. They then too their dog to their vet and was told it looks fine. Antibiotics and keep it clean. $130.00. Later. Not happy with this clinic at all.

My pup has received the best care in their hands, doctors are extremely well informed and the staff is really kind and provides you with all the information you need. They are never tired or get a sense that you are bothering them if you call back again with another question. Wonderful staff, so grateful we had the best care and thank you so much!!

We were referred to VCA 404 from our family vet in Etobicoke as our 9 yo rabbit required dental procedures that were outside the scope of our family vet's practice. When our rabbit unfortunately had complications from the anesthesia, Dr. Kabakchiev and Vet Tech Erin went above and beyond to try and bring our bun back to good health. Over the course of about 3 weeks, they were very thorough as they explained procedures and possible outcomes, and incredibly patient as they fielded our questions. We were well informed and never felt rushed to make decisions. When our rabbit suddenly took a turn for the worst, Dr. K and Erin went so far as staying after hours for us, knowing we would otherwise be stuck without a rabbit savvy vet over the weekend. We are forever indebted to the staff at VCA 404, especially Dr. Kabakchiev and Erin, for their unparalleled dedication and kindness during a very difficult time for us.

My pup decided to jump out the car window on the way to the park the other day. I immediately started to panic and worry about his injuries. I called 404 immediately and they did an over the phone assessment with me. They told me it would be a couple hours but that he'd be ok. When I finally got the call to take him in the staff were so friendly. The Dr called me to go over the initial assessment and what steps they recommended next. They took care of my baby and kept me calm. I cant thank the team enough for getting Benny and I through it

I had the best experience at 404 veterinary emergency! The team was so patient and competent with me and my Boston Terrier and made us both feel we were at the right place. I brought my dog Kaia here for severe GI virus. 7 months old she was severely ill and I think another day and it would have been not good. We landed on their doorstep scared, desperate and needing some professionals to take the "reigns" and help our puppy. Let me tell you, the welcome, care, triaging, compassion was phenomenal. Many people talk about prices-I wasn't going to do a price check in an emergency. It was expensive but top notch care and well worth it. I mean, are you really going to call everywhere and compare all pricing of emergency items? That wont guarantee care and compassion. Be careful what you ask for. You will not get better emergency care elsewhere. Let's be realistic about $ and to add..this clinic treated my dog better than most adult healthcare services. I'm not kidding. I wont cut pricing for my dog and I will NOT take my dog anywhere else. Thank you 404 animal hospital for taking compassionate, effective care of my puppy!

I have utilized their services now for over 2 years., I had a Pomeranian dying of stage 4 renal disease , was told he also had cardiac failure and needed to take him to specialists in Toronto. I did as they said and $2,000.00 later was told NO he DID NOT have heart failure just the renal failure. Went constantly back and forth after that to the 404 I never not paid or disputed my bill. They ended up eventually when it was time putting my boy to sleep. I have another dog who also would go there for services and I had made an appointment for the Dr. Walters to please recheck him for several issues mainly his trachea collapse and took the morning off from work only to get a call from them to say Dr Walters is doing virtual visits? so now I missed work and she never got to examine my dog. After I was told I would still have to pay her as though she examined my dog 85$!!! I disputed this with them as it was not a useful visit just a phone call and now they are harassing mew for the $85. I HAVE SPENT OVER 4,000.00 WITH THEM AND HAVE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED THEM AND NOW THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO HOUND ME FOR $85. I have now found another emergency clinic.

Absolutely terrible.Im don't know how they consider themselves to be a hospital. I called in an emergency 2 days ago as our dogs eye was really bad, 4 other vets said can't leave it. I am still waiting to hear from them. When I was told Friday night that someone would contact me in an hour. I am just disgusted.

After our dog was left sitting for over an hour at the Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region down the road with over 100 porcupine quills in his mouth and a quote of over $2000 dollars, we called VCA. They were happy to take him right away with a quote that was almost a third of the cost of the other emergency vet clinic. The staff were polite and professional. Very happy with our experience!

The best emergency vet I've ever been to! Twice now VCA Canada has helped me in emergencies. Once when my shepherd got a porcupine last fall and today when my husky had plastic stuck in her teeth. I found their pricing extremely reasonable for an emergency vet and the staff are always super courteous and helpful. They haven't pushed for extra tests or services. I would recommend this office to anyone who has a problem with their animals.

I called 404 at 4am after finding out my rabbits had eaten his fair share of one of my house plants that was deemed ‘toxic to pets’. They were so kind and compassionate. They conducted some quick research and set my mind at ease that the …

About 3 months ago I took my cat in to the 404 veterinary hospital because he was throwing up all night and my regular vet was closed on Sundays. After blood work and x rays ,my cat was sent home with a can of cat food.Three months later I …

Yesterday (Sunday) morning my 10 year old Yorkie had a seizure for the first time and it was absolutely heart breaking as we have never had any medical issues with her. vet’s office was closed and the other emergency hospital in Richmond Hill told me they are too busy, which was disgusting. Thank god I was able to take her to 404 and they took her in RIGHT AWAY even though it was a further drive for me. She was barely conscious, vomiting and unresponsive in real bad shape. This place is clean and has a large staff of knowledgeable vets with all the tools who specialize in different areas. They did blood work (among other tests) and it revealed she has pyometra and would need surgery asap. They kept her at the hospital for 24 hours and called me later in the evening with updates. In total my bill was about $1600 which is fine with me because it was an emergency and they took her in right away. We picked her up early this afternoon (Remembrance Day Monday) to transfer her to a vet for surgery and she was doing amazing compared to yesterday. I sincerely thank the staff and the vets that took care of Lola for 24 hours and explained the situation to us and what our options were. THANK YOU!

If there was a zero star option, then that's what they deserve to get. Staff are extremely rude; save your time and money and don't waste a dollar at this clinic that has zero understanding on how to treat their customers. After long time waiting, they cancelled my app. without calling or sending an email, but were insisting that they did email me and if I tell them no, then is better I just take my business elsewhere! Their manager was extremely rude and kept putting me on hold and disconnected the call. I booked my cat with another facility, and based on my experience and some other reviews, I'm glad I did!

MAKE SURE TO GET A SECOND OPINION- I brought my dog in to this location almost 2 years ago with fluid in her abdomen. After an examination the vet told me that she likely wouldn't make it through the weekend and should be put down. I wasn't ready to do so, and brought her home to spend what little time I had left with her in comfort. Monday came along and I went to my personal vet who did simple blood work and assessed that whatever was causing the fluid to build up was not critical and we had time to do proper testing. Fast forward 2 years later with a proper diagnosis and medication for a heart condition and she is still a very happy pup! If I had listened to the vet at this location my dog would have lost her life far too soon.

We had a traumatic accident happen to our Mia she had fallen off a 5 story balcony. This hospital was ready to immediately take her in their care, and Dr.Justin did an amazing job was very kind and patient with us and helped with explaining to us in all details the nature of her injury & all our options with surgeries at the referred clinics. They even took some extra xrays for her without charging us which was so nice. Reception had given us referral to vet clinics for further surgery & recovery information. Very professional & helpful hospital. Thank you to the whole team for all your help. Paula & Anton

My regular vet told me to get my rabbit to this emergency clinic. I had to rent a car (1.5 hour drive), take time off work, only to be told it could be this or that and only an xray could rule out a tumor. But they could only do it two days from now?! What a waste of time and money. What's the point of being an emergency clinic if you won't do the minimum of an xray.

I would never recommend taking a pet here. Took our dog here on the weekend with an abscess. Was told it was a long slow growing mass that had been there for a long time and that the dog was not in any pain. Was given anti anxiety meds because she had "white coat syndrom" . I told vet that the dog had a history of developing abscess' that had previously been treated by draining and antibiotics. Was told that this was different and the ultrasound said it was a solid tumour. Also repeated that dog was not in pain and had no temperature . 5 hours later I returned with the dog because she was clearly stressed and in pain after waiting for 2.5 hours at clinic because this was not an "emergency" was given the same diagnosis and told to take her to the family vet on Tuesday for further evaluation. The following day (sunday) the dogs condition had clearly worsened. We found another vet who came to the house. The dog had a fever of 104 and was basically on her way out. This vet treated her immediately lanced the abscess gave her antibiotics and within 30 minutes the dog began to improve. If we had waited another two days our dog may not have survived. Never under any circumstances take your pet here.

Why do all these vets always try to force and push for euthanasia. Sometimes our beautiful animals can survive with little to no pain in treatment, stop taking advantage of vulnerable pet parents.

We had to go here in the middle of the night a month ago. Our 16-year old cat had to be put to sleep. The staff here were amazing! They took us in right away and the assistant set us up in a quiet room. We waited for a bit, as other emergencies were going on with other pets. However, she checked in on us quite often to make sure everything was okay. She was very kind and compassionate. The vet in charge, Dr. Justin Levasseur, was also very kind and compassionate. He walked us through everything and assured us that it was time to put our beloved Paws to sleep. We would definitely recommend this clinic in case of any pet emergency if your main vet is closed. The cost involved was reasonable.

3 stars, because I'm not actually sure how the service would have been if they took us in. Prices are reasonable and the receptionist was lovely. This mid-range review was not her fault at all, whatsoever. My dog had an emergency last night. He ate an entire treat pouch, leather included. The receptionist spoke with the vet, who recommended inducing vomiting. This is a time-sensitive issue that needed to be done within 2 hours of ingesting the thing. They turned us away -- told us they were "all hands on deck" and couldn't take my dog in. They referred us to another clinic in Vaughan that was easily 20 minutes further from where we lived. Also double the cost. We ended up going to Whitby, which was just as far, but because we have history there and we know their prices are also reasonable, we went. What I don't understand is this: What if my dog had eaten chocolate? What if my dog had collapsed? What if he had experienced a seizure? What if he ingested poison? Would this clinic have turned us away because they were "all hands on deck"? EVERY other clinic I know triages their pet patients and turns nobody away. They take the pet that is the highest priority and everyone else can wait. If this was a true-blue emergency, I would have taken my butt to the nearest emergency clinic and called on the way. So, I would like to hear from the owner: would you have turned my dog away if he was in a life-or-death situation? If this is the case, then I would not use this clinic as my go-to emergency clinic. When you live rural, everything is far. And you have to make a decision quickly. And really, 404, you guys are the only emergency clinic in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area, so there aren't a lot of options for people within a reasonable driving distance.
