A pleasant experience from the moment you walked through the doors. Dr. Byce and her opthamology team were awesome. Best hospital experience of my life. I always recommend Toronto Western General

Navigation around the large hospital is poor, directions and signage could be improved. Phone map app could help with in building beacons to help. In the 21st Cenbtury there has got to be a better way to schedule and managage appointments. Faxing documents versus email, electronic calendar appointments and rescheduling. The Hospital is using computers but like it was for a replacement for paper system, evolve or Die.

Safe and efficient.

I went today to ER and had to wait over an hour then when i was called finally , i had to wait another 1.5 just because there was only one room that had the eye equipment. Whats ironic that a woman was left in that room waiting for the doctor who twice left to be back but just disappeared. I wonder if he did not know what to do and left the patient there in bed or just took a lunch break. My whole test barely took 15 minutes and was done only after i inquired the nurse .

I do not recommend Dr. Marisa Sit (optometric), she is not friendly nor is she helpful! I took my mother to her to get her cataract fixed and we also paid extra for the better lens. The surgery was quick and seemingly went smoothly however the healing process wasn't. Months passed and my mom noticed weird things going on with her eye that she had surgery on, she saw black dots and a flashing sensation, when people look at my mom's eye they see a little flashing reflection. We took her back to Dr. Sit to get a checkup and she dismissed us without even looking at the eye, she said that it's normal... How is that ever normal? My mother's vision is WORSE than before she got the surgery done. Having said that we went to numerous places for them to take a look and they all said that there is in fact an issue and that Dr. Sit was negligent. They said that we should file a formal complaint to her..

Great medical capabilities and good people. Biggest problem: clinical services setup in a way that causes patients to experience excessive waiting before and during appointments plus last minute delays due to doctors called into emergencies.

I've unfortunately had many experiences with Emergency departments at a number of other hospitals. Toronto Western is the WORST I've ever been to - so badly run, rude and condescending staff who seem to care less about their patients, and arrogant physicians. Last week I begged the ambulance not to take me there. My elderly parents have also had really bad experiences. Also, their labs are only open during business hours with zero after work or weekend hours. The wait times in their in-hospital clinics (like ultrasound) are outrageously long, even with an appointment. I'm talking HOURS long. And there are no options other than taking time off work during the day. Patients' time is valuable too but TWH apparently doesn't care about patient service or respect.

Attended the Krembell Institute Brain Aneurysm Clinic...fantastic feeling to have access to highly trained and efficient professionals. So grateful.

I’ve been to some pretty bad hospitals but this one takes the cake. Severe pain from gallbladder attack and I waited 4.5 hours with a mostly empty lobby. The nurses are abrupt and unfriendly. They seem disorganized and most Of the time I see them hovering in the back talking to each other ..... pretty sure that’s why people are not being seen in a proper fashion. If you want to be treated property avoid this hospital.

Dr. Buys, the eye specialist knows what she's doing. Her bedside manner might be a bit stiff, but I saw a genuine relief on her face when she gave us the good news that my mother's glaucoma was under control.

On Mar. 28/19 my father-in-law suffered a stroke. From the very moment that he entered the emergency dept. at Toronto Western Hospital he was looked after promptly by the experts in this field. This would explain the reason why on Sunday, Mar. 31st he was able to walk out of the hospital without any assistance & without needing to have any rehab done! Our whole family would like to thank everyone at the Toronto Western Hospital very much for the care which everyone provided him while he was in their care! They are a huge part of this success story & we are eternally greatful!

Bad hospital, I underwent surgery in this hospital,I got out of the hospital three hours after the end of the operation while I was in the urinary catheter, I went home and was in pain from the time I was discharged from the hospital for up to five days, infections, convulsions, period disorders, fainting, But no nurses or doctors call me to check on my condition،،،،There is no follow-up of the patient.

MAJOR NEGLIGENCE!!!! Today is May 28. I broke my foot on May 6/18. I went to Emergency at Toronto General and was referred to THIS hospital's FRACTURE CLINIC for follow up. I'm told the referral is faxed right away and they should call me within a couple of days to schedule another X-ray to see if anything else can be seen and to put me into a real cast (Emerg only put me in a splinter - a half-cast). No calls was received from this clinic. I called my Emerg. again in a week, told them the situation. They faxed the referral again and also gave me their number finally to also call them. In a few day, I called again, and they sent that referral for the 3rd time. I did call the clinic. I Spoke with a woman who transferred me to another lady who does scheduling. She didn't pick up, so I left a message, with my OHIP number, phone # and whatever else they wanted. This was on day 10, Thur before the Long weekend. They say they return calls within 24-48h. Nobody called on Fri. Then Long Weekend came and so I'm still not being seen. It's past 2 weeks now! Nobody called until THUR of 3 week!!!! Which is way past 48h even. They left me a message saying that they did call, but there were no space on my voicemail. NOT TRUE!!! I WAS WAITING for that call. I made sure my phone has space for voicemails, and I have not even had any Missed Call notification. So they are lying, trying to cover their butt. They left a message with the only one available appointment the next day 9am, which I couldn't not make for. So it has been OVER 3 WEEKS now, and I still have not been seen by a doctor! I called again. They extension they gave me send me to a fax. There is nobody to talk to live. And should I leave a voicemail again to wait another week? It's about time to take off the cast by the time they will see me. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! HealthCare, where nobody Cares!!!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

From my first greeting until the end of my surgical stay was amazing. The surgical staff and nurses were friendly and caring. The only thing I would like to see is a revisit to visiting hours. I asked my family not to come and allow me to heal and rest. For both nights of my stay in my ward, other patients had visitors in access of 5 at a time. Came in at 5:30 am and left at 11pm. Please reconsider this. I get that they love and care for their families but can they move it to the visiting area instead of the room? Again, I have absolutely no complaints about my overall care at the hospital. It was perfect.

Uzzi Usman

Outstanding hospitality and service. Everything of the system is as best as can be. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They have many resources and departments for all sorts of medical needs and research. Dr Bercovici is the absolute best doctor I have ever met as a specialist. He motivates me every time I visit. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Just experience for yourself.

Mina

Staff is very friendly, great selection of food in the cafeteria, and overall good health services. One large issue I had was overall sterility and cleanliness. Sometimes packaging's of tubings or bandages were just left out after opening. Biggest gripe: Nurses use their *cellphone* flashlights for patient assessments/visual tests. Very unsterile. Cellphones have an insane amount of germs and should never be placed that close to patients. Major room for improvement - please buy your nurses some proper medical lights for patient assessments.

March 2, 2021 - Best hospital care I've had anywhere! The doctors, nurses and staff were absolutely amazing. Everyone was so kind and caring. I have a HUGE appreciation for what they go through on a daily basis. Thank you to you all for your hard work and your passion. I hope that everyone can experience the kindness and dedication that I received.

The people that work here are so friendly and helpful. From the security guards to the nurses, everyone kept us updated as to what was happening and what to expect. Wait times can be long, but it's a hospital, that's to be expected.

My appointments with Dr.Ridout are always very professional and up beat. A very compassionate doctor.

La chancla 420

Very friendly staff and clean space :) I never have a problem coming here and if I ever have trouble the staff is always available to help

Yunet Garay

I was 5 months pregnant when i went into emergency they made me wait 5 hours in the waiting area before seeing a doctor. They gave me no priority. I really had a horrible experience.

Adam Cheaney

Considering this is still a hospital... I spent a week here and my stay was very pleasant. All of the nurses, doctors, and staff were friendly. It is the nicest hospital I've been in. They have a pretty good food court and a really nice atrium. Parking is expensive, but I was able to find street parking for free. McDonalds across the street had a parking lot that is also less expensive than the hospital.

Overall the surgeons and doctors are amazing. The nursing staff...not so much. They're careless, have horrible service and don't take any regard for the patient's overall well being. Especially being a teenager, they didn't take that into consideration.

Very caring Nurses and doctors

The Kidd

I had shingles and trigeminal neuralgia during covid. I was in excruciating pain, unable to eat or drink and had to go to the ER around 4 times before they took it seriously. The first Dr. I saw insisted it was a dental issue though I had been cleared by an emergency dental clinic. At another visit, I overheard the physician’s assistant who had very coldly listened to me weep through my explanation of the pain, tell a nurse that the Dr. wouldn’t be attending to me because he didn’t feel like it as they chuckled. Another nurse dismissed me very rudely after I asked her for help upon getting locked out of the treatment area. It took about 7 visits and 2 months of pain before I had relief. They don’t care about patients.

Brad Dickson

They sent me home even with my muscles in able to hold up my head. Malpractice is the norm here but no recourse.

Baker has a deathwish !!!!!!

Dr fehlings and his team performed a chairi malformation decompression surgery with spinal fusion of c1-c3 in June 2017. They did an amazing job and saved me from potentially being parylized. Thank you Dr fehlings. The nurses and staff in icu were excellent. I would recommend this hospital

They treated my umbillical hernia with a.mesh. I went into emgerge cause i cant take the pain on a daily basis. Years later i speak to them about it and they basically push the blame on someone else. I came out worse then comming in! Thats totally opposite of a drs. Oath to DO NO HARM. I came in their trusting them and now theyve damaged me for life and theirs no fix for this!

Toronto Western Hospital is know as "the death Hotel." For exsmple: my senior neighbour went in with a broken hip and died 7 days later of a non-related virus she caught in the Emergency room. Shame!

Chantal O'Connor

I wouldn't even give ONE star. Majority of staff are EXTREMELY rude and uncaring. I was vomiting blood in the ER and the nurse "forgot" to tell GI leading to my endoscopy being cancelled everyday for the next 5 days. They also took me off my mental health pills and I begged them not to, after a few days I started having suicidal thought and I told the nurse RATHIKA in 3B Cardiology and she said "Do you want a Tylenol?" Honestly, what kind of training do nurses have now a days? I asked to have a shower and they put me in a FREEZING COLD shower like a PRISONER!! Then I demanded to see a Cardiologist regarding my abnormal ECG's and they refused. THEN when I was discharged(by a resident!) TWH FALSIFIED and lied on my discharge summary saying they only stopped my mental health pills for a day when it was really 6 --trying to cover themselves. They had no right to discontinue my meds without consulting a psychiatrist at least. I believe I was treated so poorly because I'm a hijab wearing Muslim. I have already contacted several news agencies and now a lawyer because this is discrimination and I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a hospital when i was that ill. I WOULD NEVER RETURN TO THIS HOSPITAL even if I got stabbed across the street! The bathrooms are full of feces and urine and reek. Theres cleaning staff EVERYWHERE but they're too busy gossiping in their languages to do their jobs. Must be nice to get paid and not do your job. The charge nurse Joshua in 3B is also EXTREMELY rude and I hope he's fired and LeeAnne takes over for him. He really shouldn't be working in this profession. I wouldn't go back to this hospital even if I got shot across the street, that's how badly I was treated. Patient relations is a JOKE and don't give a damn either. Oh and one last thing, the younger girl who worked in 3b on the wknds with the short blonde wig and wearing uggs boots was caught eavesdropping outside my room after I complained about something. When I pulled my curtain open really quick, she pretended to be lost...How inappropriate and INVASION OF PATIENT PRIVACY. VELMA BAILEY the 3b manager came with the most ridiculous apology as to why I was getting treated so bad and she didn't even seem to care, it was one of the most fake apologies I have ever heard. NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND GETTING BETTER.

I’m giving a rave review to Toronto Western Hospital for my recent shoulder-replacement surgery. Every staff member I encountered gave the impression that they are not just experts in their field, but also are delighted to be working there because they were so outgoing, friendly and helpful. My surgeon, Dr. Timothy Leroux; anesthetist, Dr. Adriaan Van Rensburg; and nurse (sorry, I didn't get your name) in the day-surgery recovery room deserve the highest praise.

Malek Adriss

Dr.Soumia , one of the best doctor I had ever seen in my life, she did really good job I can’t thank you enough, you made my day so much better.. all the best in your life and god bless you as well during this hard time ! Thanks

DON'T GO THERE. The staff will treat you like an animal and you are supposed to be covered by OHIP because we pay high taxes for this. This Hospital and doctors think they are god and treat people with no respect! You might as well to to a private clinic or find a Chinese doctor! Dont go to Toronto Western Hospital. The will make you wait 5 hours or more and dump you in a hallway like an animal! We are people. Not animals. I left the hospital after waiting for numerous hours and i did not even get a doctor to see me. They were busy hanging out. All of them! Like 4-5 of them! Big scam. Dont go to Toronto Western Hospital!!! Go else where. The nice reviews are made up...!

The staff in emergency have been #AWESOME! This is our 2nd visit in 2 weeks with my octogenarian father, and we’ve been to many hospitals over the years in Durham Region and Niagara. What I notice most is how caring the professionals and the staff is, offering to help each other, and communicating with compassion to both the patient and family. Seems like no one here is ever in a grumpy or impatient mood. Thank you Western Hospital for extraordinary care plus soft skills that comfort all of us.

Rehan Khan (Sherlock Holmes)

First time visiting the hospital which is part of the University Health Network. Received great help and support from the team of staff during my visit today. Words cannot describe how I felt during the COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols that are put in place. Thank you everyone. Continue with your great job of caring for the sick and the injured!

I have just witnessed in ER a 3 people who were laughed at/ignored and waited without anyone even acknowledging them. I had a friend who was treated the same way a month ago. AVOID at any cost. Especially if experiencing any mental health issues.

Micheal Wilson

The doctors and surgery are the best in Canada. The nurses are not as high quality for patients who are staying in the hospital.

Peter V. Tretter

They seemed to be understaffed at critical times and in critical aress.

Favourite hospital! Staff and doctors actually seem to care and are interested in your condition. I’ve been to multiple hospitals and would highly recommend this one.

My hospital experience was very pleasant. All the staff, doctors, nurses, social workers, pharmacist here are so helpful and knowledgeable. I feel very safe in their care

Excellent care in emergency this morning about 8:00 a.m. Friendly, Caring, Kind, Thorough. Absolutely!! When I called back this evening with a question regarding the visit -- which I had been advised to do -- the woman who answered the phone in emergency was RUDE and CLIPPED and AGRESSIVE, and DISMISSIVE. Regardless of her need to deny my request for an answer, there was no reason for her to behave that way. Clearly, the woman has issues of her own. THANK YOU so very much for the sterling care I received during my visit this morning.Thank goodness for your morning shift professionals!! Best regards.

Matt Ignaczak

Don't bother going to the emergency room unless you're prepared to deal with staff that would rather be anywhere other than there. From the beginning of our visit until we were discharged, the staff is rude and unwilling to help. One of the biggest issues was with Ashley, a nurse who was handling intake, along with a male nurse (blonde, caucasian) and the doctor who took it upon himself to talk down to us whenever possible. All were working August 1st, just after midnight in the emergency room. Honestly if I could file a formal complaint based on tonight I would

The nursing staff in the orthopaedic unit are very friendly, patient and considerate. They gave us extra chairs when visiting my aunt in her room, as every room only has 2 chairs. They also answered our questions whenever she was being …

My son went to emergency with very severe stomach pain and an accompanying migraine. This is a man who broke his collarbone and still survived for a month before surgery without ever complaining about the pain. Therefore, not someone who over reacts to a difficult situation. He was in horrendous pain, to the point that he was crying out in distress. His wife was out of her mind; she could not help him nor could she relieve his agony. They went to Toronto Western because it was the closest hospital to their home. In the emergency department they were both treated like pariahs- the lowest of the low. My son writhed in agony on the floor and staff actually walked over him, according to his wife. She seriously believes that they thought he was either high or in drug withdrawal so the triage staff did not take his pain seriously. She actually considered calling 911 to get an ambulance to transfer him to another hospital! After numerous enquiries, a staff member said that it would not be long before they would see a doctor. And yes ONE HOUR AND TWENTY minutes later he was FINALLY allowed to be treated. In fact, a doctor actually apologized to them that it took so long to treat my son given his condition. Therefore, all I can suggest to anybody out there is that Toronto Western is definitely NOT the hospital one should go to if you have an emergency. The emergency triage is either undertrained, insensitive or reflect the overall policy of the hospital that patient care is not a priority- here, I am reminded of the adage that a fish" rots from the head down"; perhaps it is the administrators that are responsible for the overall tone of the hospital-and should be ashamed of their insensitivity. My son and daughter in law have decided that in the case of another emergency, they will make sure to go to Mount Sinai where they can be assured of excellent treatment and care. Perhaps that is what Toronto Western wants - patients to go to other hospitals and not bother them.

Jan Schreiber

I went to TWH last weekend with severe pain, which turned out to be a kidney stone. I have to say that considering what some people wait, the 5 hour adventure was not too bad. Here is it three stars: I was desperate to lie down when I was in the emergency waiting area. I mean, if you have kidney stones, you know that curling up like a baby is the position of choice. No matter what I said, the triage nurse just kept telling me to sit in the chair...the wait won't be long. A half hour is LONG when you're in pain. Even the EMT who brought me in tried to get me a stretcher. So, having some stretchers for people in pain would be an amazing idea. Secondly, the washrooms in the emergency room were disgusting; I mean nasty. There was no toilet paper in one and pee all over the floor in the other. There was even a woman supposedly there to clean and the sinks had not been cleaned in days. I think about people who are on chemo and all the toilet rules that entails and I'm shocked. That being said, I had a CAT scan, and diagnosis made. Really wish Kathleen Wynne had the chance to visit some emergency rooms.

Jana Selig

Was in Canada on vacation (I'm from Germany) and got very sick. When I went to this hospital (WITH travel health insurance) the clerk was absolutely helpless when it came to dealing with travelers. Not only that, she was so very rude. I was obviously sick, wearing a mask that was given to me as I entered the hospital (my symptoms looked like COVID), almost crying and trying my best to navigate a foreign healthcare system. The clerk was the complete opposite of empathetic and kept repeating that dealing with traveler's insurance was not in her job description. She refused to print documents that my insurance faxed to the hospital until I started crying and sort of raised my voice. The only saving grace of my experience there was the kind doctor that not only helped me tremendously but also called and checked on me a few days later to make sure I was well enough to travel back home. Regarding the clerk, I understand that she has to work with all types of people and that it is hard sometimes. I work in customer service myself and know what it is like. But her behavior toward an ill person, or any person, was inexcusable and people like her should not be working in helping professions.

My mother had a ruptured brain aneurysm and was rushed from Markham Stouffville Hospital to Toronto Western. The prognosis for an aneurysm is not good but with the specialized surgery and after-care she received from various departments at TWH she was able to make a full recovery!! She had full open-skull brain surgery and walked away with only a large scar and the memories or the ordeal (granted with several months of therapy after). The TWH neurosurgery department is world class. My mom's survival was a miracle that was facilitated by TWH. Thank you to the ER team, the Neuro Step Down Unit, Dr. Gentili and his surgical team, the ICU nurses, and everyone else who took care of her and us (her family). There is no better place in the world when you have a true neurological emergency. There are a lot of people complaining about ER wait times and leaving after X-number of hours. The ER triages true emergencies and if you're able to leave with whatever your issue was you have to ask yourself if it as a true emergency.

I had a full hip replacement surgery done at the end of May ,2021; my surgeon was Dr. Rajiv Gandhi. I had met with Dr. Gandhi a few months prior to the surgery and and he gave me a sense of calm and comfort regarding the procedure. Dr. Gandhi portrayed a sense of calm and warmth which made me feel very comfortable with having the surgery. His staff were all very warm and reassuring and shared experiences about their family and friends who have had with the same surgical procedure. This only raised my comfort level and encouraged me to move ahead with the surgery. On the day of the surgery, the UHN team very professional and everything flowed through like a symphony. The last I met Dr. Gandhi was with his team on the operating room table. Later , after the surgery, I woke up and was wheeled to my room. I felt no pain. Dr. Gandhi UHN team took excellent care of me and I felt privileged to be his patient. After staying, one night at the hospital, I was released. It’s been 3 weeks now since I am home. The surgery was successful and I was able to walk the day after surgery. The incision was clean and perfect and I had no infection; basically, it was 10/10 by Dr Gandhi and his amazing team. I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Dr. Gandhi and his team for the excellent work they had done on my hip. I am able to walk slowly with walking aids and the pain from the bad hip is completely gone, wish I had done this earlier. Also, the medical staff Toronto Western Hospital are amazing people with a lot of empathy and compassion for the patient; you can see they love their jobs. Thanks again Dr. Gandhi and the UHN team. I had surgery and though the surgery itself went well. I was dropped while I was under anesthesia. My entire left upper thigh was bruised. It was a huge bruise and no one had any answers. They kept me well drugged and quiet. No PSW’s at all and the asian nurse that was assigned to my room was horrific. She was cold, distant, mean and usually not even available. I recovered but was in more pain from than bruise than my actual surgery.

Marian Nebit

Hospital I clean and we'll organized. Food court the best with lots of tables and couches for patients and visitors. Pharmacy inside, accessible to wheelchairs. Parking space cannot accommodate large number of cars and no washroom for the changing mother for their babies.

Matthew

I never liked this hospital. It's dirty. And the nurses treated my sick and weak grandmother like she was a bag of trash.

Chris Fillmore

Horrible experience. Especially the nurse named Ariel I believe. Go to another ER.

Renata R

Luna Rey

Doctor s and most nurses were very receptive to patient s pain. The intake ladies were very busy talking in a different language while asking me in English why I was there. In the midst of a horrible migraine I had to hyper focus to distinguish what questions were geared to me and which part was their conversation. Very unethical. The nurse that drew my blood, left the bleeding needle stuck on my arm to talk to another nurse, at the end I had a huge, painful bubble like hematoma at the site. Thankfully it was the doctors, RN s and technicians who continued my care after that.

niheem kun

Check in staff was horribly rude. I waited hrs to be seen, bleading and in horrible pain. I was told (without any testing) that i just have an ovarian cyst and it's normal to cause pain, bleeding, mass swelling, vomiting and cold sweats (from pain)and that it would just go away on its own. 2 days later i was rushed to emerg and was told my cyst had ruptured and that i needed emergency surgery. (I had it removed) Im now being booked for a hysterectomy. If you end up at this hospital, don't let them push you out without doing their jobs. Without proper tests and proper treatment. They are too eager for a good turn over rate and not for good results.

Ana Cerqueira

My name is Ana Cerqueira, Was and have been a long time sufferer of epilepsy long since the age of 9 months. I don’t know other than the fact of what happened between the wife and surgeon why this hospital ain’t 5star or plus for that matter. Maybe who ever wrote is in separate department. Mine the neuro division best there is and ever will.Trust me when I say this I went to Sick Kids also one of the best and had SURGERY with the late great Dr. Huffman or some might know as the one who kind of but not trew separates the Siamese twins mine wasn’t complete success neither but I did have less but bigger attacks. Also had seen in States none I mean nine could cross out all the good they’ve done. They well controlled mine did what I and most might not be possible both of us making it threw and we’ll me having a baby hardly any complications and know side effects to her, specially known when born having Spina bifidam THANK YOU. “Baby, baby”??? They were the foundation blocks for me having and being able to have, but not all the way threw due to that blasted CAS BELLEVILLE the pedis from doom, took my child me with seizures and some psychological along mid thirty range lot more to go especially with they’re help, but did give two around my daughter baby age twos 55 year woman with mild cancer bone issues, not bor in Canada and who has real noted pedi son G, g LOL: wonder why that is, Trusy me they’re great everybody take care and God BLESS!

Caleb Connelly

They didn’t feed me so I ran out with IV tubes in my arms to get a smoothie. Doctors are good. The nurses do what they can but communication is an issue.

Mike Goring

Richard W.

Wait times are high here. Busy hospital at times also, which makes things worse. They implement Triage in emergency. Had an issue with a staff member, but they all stick together so it's tough arguing with them. Doctors seemed qualified but lack a bed side Manor. Hospital looks like it's been around awhile. Didn't have much choice than to go here anyways. Luckily my issue was minor.

Janine Straats

Clean at my followup for the first time since last sobriety stint and the doctors are so proud, it's so cute. Get good healthcare providers! I recommend Toronto Western Hospital's RAC for walk-in prescriptions for addiction to alcohol and/or opioids - they will connect you to mental healthcare and track your sober process with urine testing WITHOUT JUDGEMENT and only genuine concern for health and safety! I love them!

Amazing family health team doctors, but don't go to the ER for mental health issues, you'll get locked in for hours and poorly treated!

Sarah Kennedy

Triage was alright service, there weren't too many people there so it was fairly quick. After being taken into the room where I wait for a doctor I was asked to leave the room as they needed to assess somebody else first. This was fine as she was clearly in a worse state then me. After she was assessed it took them nearly an hour to tend to me, the pain got worse as I was waiting, the doctors ignored me as they walked past as I asked about pain relief. After seeing dr. priyank bhatnagar he gave me a prescription for some eye drops, went to shoppers to fill the prescription and realized that he filled out the prescription wrong so i had to pay for the drops out of pocket before calling the hospital and figuring out how to get the money back. All around it was a nightmare. The only person that asked me if I was okay was a little old lady walking down the hall looking for her daughter. Doctors and nurses try to avoid eye contact. You feel like an inconvenience to everybody there. Awful experience.

Completely unprofessional. Went in with a broken neck over 3 weeks ago and was almost released without a prescription or a doctors note, until I reminded them to do so. I was told I would be contacted in two weeks. That never happened and then when I did call back 3 days ago, I was told that they were still "waiting for my results" from the X rays they took over 3 weeks ago?? It gets better. Then she tells me, oh but dont worry it will be in tomorrow and we will call you for your follow up .Guess who still hasnt heard from them? What an absolute farce.

Incredibly rude staff. Nurse gave me rude look for asking for a light pain killer because my hand was badly cut open and throbbing heavily. Wanted to ask a staff member a question and he responded with “I don’t have time for you right now...” with a very rude tone. I went back to wait in the room. He called me up and ended up being the doctor who did my stitches. He was great afterwards. I understand he’s probably under copious amounts of stress. Another nurse bandaged up my hand. When I replaced the dressing 24 hours later... i realized the stitches were stuck into the gauze because the wrong gauze was used for the wound part. There was no sterile gauze pad, only the stringy wrap. I fainted in the process because of how painful and nauseous the whole ordeal made me feel. Now 72 hours later I’m either having allergies to the stitches or it’s infected. I’ve had stitches before and followed all care instructions. This shouldn’t have happened. I’ve talked to multiple people and they have all labeled their experience at Toronto western as terrible. Myself and many people believe that Toronto western is one of the worst hospitals. Won’t be going back here. Better off traveling farther to get proper care.

Don't bother calling in advance to make the trip easier for yourself of you're in pain. They won't help you and might not even listen to your questions and send you to the wrong place. Also make sure you're in the best mood while you're there. They have no patience for sick and sorry patients that don't want to be bothered. Also please don't donate to this network thinking that the money goes to client care. It doesn't. It goes to state of the art equipment they can use to compete with other hospitals. It's not for us.

One of the most inefficient hospital I have ever been to. My home was on fire and I was unable to get paper mail , I requested multiple times to send me email appointments and stuff but they never did it and I missed multiple specialists appointment because of the way they communicated them to me. It’s impossible to reach them over phone .

Can't say I was overly impressed with this place. Took my boyfriend to the fracture clinic for a surgery consultation for his broken collar bone. We were told that it would be best not to operate and that he'd live a perfectly reasonable life with most of his range of motion back in time. Now I understand surgery can be dangerous but if the patient insists on wanting surgery, shouldn't they be allowed to have it? Seeing all these other one and two star reviews makes me think we dodged a bullet though. We'll take his broken bones elsewhere.

Do not go here if you have stomach pain, they will send you away and claim you have COVID. I got to the emergency room and had 10/10 SEVERE pain in my stomach, it hurt to breathe. I was seen by a doctor, who told me that I have COVID, without even seeing any results of a test. I was dealing with extreme pain in my stomach and he told me that he diagnosed 3 patients with the same symptoms with COVID. They did blood work and a COVID test. I am still experiencing extreme pain. My covid test came back negative. I do not have covid, and I knew I wouldn't have it as I hardly go outside and I follow all social distancing rules. They are diagnosing everyone with "suspected covid".

The switchboard for calling in is a mess. I left messages for medical imaging that were never returned, wasn't even sure if I was patched through to the correct connection, and the switchboard operator didn't seem to know where to send me.

There so casual at TW emergency staff there service is horrablly slow they litterally left me and stopped attending after me. Also didnt explain anything to me.They just kept sending me home with the problem unresolved a hint of discrimination and rudeness. I went there 3 times was there 4/5 days and still they found no solution for the longest time to help me when I was in pain.I hope something will change as it one of the central hospitals to attend in the city.

This review is only for My recent visit to the emergency room, as it was terrible. I came in with a stroke and had no balance. Sent via abulance from St Joseph hospital. I am fairly young under 40 and this was my 2nd stroke. The nurse looked at me and said "oh thats a stroke?" Like she didn't beleive I was having one. So unprofessional. I said yes and it's not my 1st one . This was Before she took my blood. Absolutely horrible. They did a CAT scan and whoever looked at it read it wrong. She said I was having a migraine and said I regained balance. I never regained balance and am still having issues 4 weeks later. They then shipped me back to St. Joes. Almost 24hours later St Joes was advised they missed the stroke on the Cat scan from Toronto Western. Now I am left with lasting effects. They could have killed me. Who do I make a formal complaint to?

Carol Carter

Just called TWH to ask some Labour Market Research questions at their Medical Device Reprocessing Depart. The person who answered the phone was very rude saying "No, this is not the place for this. This is a hospital!" This is the 3rd hospital to behave like this. I've worked in Healthcare and would never speak to ppl like this. Also the Market Research is for the Government. Miserable staff.

My son had an unfortunate incident at the Ex on Monday and was taken to and treated by the staff at Toronto Western hospital. I can't begin to say enough good things about absolutely everyone we encountered there. For staff at an inner-city hospital to be able to maintain such a positive, compassionate demeanour with every patient they meet speaks volumes of the quality of staff there. I am and will be forever grateful for the kind treatment my son received there. God bless you all.

I had a decent experience here a week ago. I was checked in and admitted within a reasonable amount of time. Probably 15-20 minutes to see the intake nurse and then another 25 minutes waiting to get registered and another 15 minutes or so to get called to the back. They are following covid protocol to the best of their abilities. Everyone has masks on. In the back of emerge after you go in they have spaced out everyone decently and there’s plexiglass between all chairs (in front too). They did quite thorough blood work on me which I was very happy about. I also was treated nicely by the triage nurse and the attending doctor. My first doctor actually had his resident student see me and she listened to EVERYTHING I had to say which made me feel heard for once because all my symptoms were being discussed prior to this visit. There’s a bit of a privacy issue. I think even without covid there are no rooms (atleast where I went) just curtains so I heard what everyone was dealing with. One nurse I saw bugged me at first because I thought he was irritated at me for not wanting to get bloodwork. He was kind of sarcastic and said “so your headaches gone then” when I was saying I was nervous about getting iv and blood since the last time I was at emerge I got a blown vein and fainted. He came back a little while after and stayed with me and was understanding so it helped. When I saw the doctor I was met with a nice male surgeon who actually looked at my previous files and said he knew my doctor from another hospital. He offered me the option to treat my symptoms and go home or wait to do imaging which helped because I would’ve had to wait until April. There are some pros and cons. I would definitely go here if I was experiencing an emergency again. HOWEVER I removed 2 stars for specific reasons but they are things I’m sure that can be improved. I understood that other patients would probably need a bed over me considering my issue but overnight atleast 3 beds were empty and I was never offered to lay in one. It was pretty uncomfortable to sit in a small chair for HOURS. Another thing I didn’t like was they never told me an update during the night about how long it would take to get the imaging. Around 11-Midnight the doctor had said I’d be there for a while so I thought to myself Ok I probably won’t go home before 4:30-5am. I was not seen again (except once around 4 to draw for bloodwork) until like 8-30 am. I thought they might’ve forgot about me so I went to ask the nurse what I was waiting for and they said mri called in the middle of the night and said call back at 8. I wish they told me so I could’ve slept in my chair or wish they atleast offered me a bed. After doing my imaging in the morning the tech was nice but straightforward. Again I could hear the patient in the next beds situation. After I came back to emerge from imaging no one plugged my iv back in which started taking its toll because I had not eaten or drank anything for almost 2 days. I asked someone for help and she said in a minute but never came back. No one really paid attention to me and I was now sitting in front of the nurses desk area which was getting irritating. I caved in and had to ask for ice chips because I felt so dehydrated. This was making my pain worse. I told a nurse it was weird they didn’t plug my iv back in when I came back from imaging. She proceeded to plug it back in but I thought it was gross because my iv line had been hovering above the floor upstairs. Anyway the doctor from midnight saw me in the morning and apologized that I’d been there all night in a chair. He gave me info and discharged me. I was just concerned because no one looked in my ear the entire time and they wouldn’t have looked up my nose either had I not asked. Ask to see your records online and register its very helpful.

E man

The staff here is awesome, but the cleanliness and hygiene are not acceptable especially for a hospital. Everywhere I turn is filthy.

Came at western hospital with appendicitis. Kristie from emergency carefully listened to all my symptoms and even though I have done an ultrasound before, doctor decided to check again because previous technician haven’t found anything on it and they were correct to find an inflamed appendix. A bit of a problem was a wait time at emergency and before the operation but nurses were always around to keep me updated about doctors opinion on my case. Again, the only problem was wait time but that was okay, I understand how they staff is loaded in downtown hospital, they take extra credit for care I was provided. P.S.: poop classification on the washrooms door in 9B is amazing ????????????

I would not recommend this place to anyone as they're not thorough with checking patients and the staff are very loud in the middle of the night. The staff are rude and also don't seem to care about the patients. My girlfriend was really sick and had sharp abdominal pain on her right side. We went to the hospital to get her checked out, where they performed an ultrasound, CBC and swabbed the vaginal area. They discharged her and told her she was completely fine, and the only thing they did was provide her with Tylenol and IV drops as we waited over 10 hours to get our results. The following night she was suffering from the worst pain of her life with a high fever over 39 degrees (same symptoms we told the hospital during the visit) Luckily we decided to get a second opinion at a different hospital not part of UHN where the staff was not only friendly but also did a great job. They found out that her kidney was inflamed via an ultrasound which was performed incorrectly at TWH and provided antibiotics for her. In summary, unless you're dying I wouldn't recommend this hospital. This definitely was the worst experience we've ever had and we definitely won't be coming back. The low quality of service provided sets a bad example of hospitals in Toronto.

Probably one of the worst hospitals in the city if not the worst. The doctor was incompatant and I was the only one in the ER... literally it was empty. So being overwhelmed isn't and excuse this time. I won't even share my.other sxpieriance.

I got in quickly despite the pandemic and I didn't have to advocate for tests. I just got them and they were reasonable. They even pretended to laugh at my jokes (about myself, not them) which may have been passable at best. I didn't feel surprised by any of the process as they told me what would happen before any happened, why it happened, what was in the concoction and did it without much prompting. If it wasn't a hospital, I'd say I'd be a regular.

chipmunks223

Very unprofessional doctors and nurses. I was here since 8AM and was told I'd be getting a CT scan. Around 4PM, the doctor told me that she forgot that today is a holiday and that the CT is not available today. She said she was "sorry" and that she would get me to an ultrasound which I had to wait a few more hours for. I was there for around 11 hours and 9 of which was wasted waiting for something that wasn't even available...... talk about unprofessional. On top of that, the RN that I had was extremely rude and unreliable. She gave me attitude and told me to do whatever I felt when I asked her for help. Don't go here of you're looking for professional help. You'll be wasting your day here for something that should have taken 5 hours max on a busy day.

I've been going to this hospital for over 5 years in the Rheumatology department. Love the doctors there and all the other staff but did I have the surprise of my life last week when we got to the entrance of the underground parking lot! BIG RED SIGN SAYING: "RESERVED FOR STAFF ONLY"! I can't walk more than 100 feet due to back and hip problems so where do they expect people like me to park and get to their appointment on time??? If it hadn't been for the fact that my husband drove me as he was on vacation, I would have turned around and gone back home. This hospital runs an Arthritis Clinic for crying out loud and now they've taken away this parking and also the multi-level parking off of Nassau St . I mean is this a joke or what? I live in Whitby and my only way in is to drive so I'd love to hear some suggestions from the hospital gods as to where can I park my vehicle so that I don't have to walk for miles on end? I have an appointment on Sept 21, and I don't know what to do right now as I have no one to drive me whatsoever.... help!!!

Departments I have dealt with are on top of the game and deliver great patient care. There is room for improvement in terms of communication between the departments and other health personnel at other networks/hospital it would save the patient who is already not so great a lot of headache and would also reduce the room for errors. The place is pretty decent but given its one of the top hospitals the place could use a little bit of an upgrade understandable if they dont want to spend a lot of money but maybe a new set of chairs by the nassau st entrance instead of the two really broken ugly and uncomfortable chairs that are there atm definitely need to go. Covid protocols in place are being followed throughly.

I came to the emergency room last night for heart palpitations, chest pain, jaw pain, and tightness in my upper arm. Everyone treated me kindly and with respect from the start of my visit to the end. The ER doctor, Doctor Cho, was very kind and patient. He took time in answering my questions and listened to all of my concerns. I received excellent service. I first needed their help in 2015, I was cared for in every detail and thoughtful manner. The doctors, the nurses, the psws, the cleaning staff, absolutely wonderful. I returned for surgery in 2016 there is when I noticed a difference. I noticed the nursing staff and nursing assistants under a lot of stress, pressure, and hence its impact on patient care although still very caring and striving to do their best. All the previous staff now were replaced with different people and less of them. I love this hospital!

Lori Olsen

Went here for an MRI last year and the attendant working the machine was not helpful at all. The machine itself looks very old and is down in the basement in a dark corner. The attendant gave me zero direction or guidance and I couldn't even go thru with it. Went to Mount Sinai yesterday and they were awesome. I recommend going there.

E

Horrible receptionist. Rude and misleading. Gets mad at you for her own mistakes and lack of instruction. There were also signs all over the neurology clinic doors in October 2020 ... indicating that ONLY those showing symptoms of COVID had to wear masks...and if you didn't have symptoms you don't need to wear one...I assume this was posted back last year at the beginning of COVID? And that they were simply too lazy to take them down ?? Lack of care really shows.

My mom (FM) had to be rushed to this hospital last Friday, the circumstance surrounding it was extremely disturbing, but every one in emergency made her feel so comfortable and were very compassionate. She wanted me to post her review in thanks especially to her nurses - "my nurses paid such great personal attention to me and went over and beyond. They took time to advice me and had wonderful smiles. Thank you from the bottom of my heart".

Ryan James

Very unfriendly people, staff care about making their hours instead checking in on clients. Many more hospital around that can be more helpful.

Essam Nadeem

The nurses are extremely rude and uncaring. They give you attitude for asking them to do their job. My father was admitted here and every time we called for the nurse, she would respond an hour later. No one was willing to help because my father was not ‘their patient.’ They would make excuses. I find our health care system extremely flawed. We pay for the services through our taxes, which is not a small amount for nurses salaries. Why are individuals such as these hired or working in a field that they’re meant to care for patients? Do everyone a favour and please remove these toxic human beings and allow deserving individuals to work in these roles. I’m utterly disgusted by the service received by the nurses in the surgical units on the 9th floor.

Have been a frequent visitor for family members medical treatment. The doctors nurses and other staff are really nice, hope everyone gets the same kindness and care that we have been receiving. Parking is almost $25 for the whole day

Incredibly slow with looking after patients. The emergency see room guarantees you a wait time of no less than 2 hours before you are seen by a doctor. If you have any real issue like I do with my breathing right now don’t go here. Trying to keep myself alive by composing my breathing while these fukn doctors walk around here.

Cenk Goksal

I came to the ER yesterday because I had an infection on my throat and all the nurses everyone was so polite, I've got answers for all my questions. I specially want to thank you to lady who put serum in my arm and checking often if everything going right. Again many thanks to everyone who works in Toronto Western Hospital.

Nadine R

Pre-op nurses were amazing as well as the surgeon. The post-op nurses however are dreadful and throw you out as soon as you open your eyes. The minute you sign off your form that they reviewed post-surgery care with you, they will throw you out like a lack of potatoes! My mom had knee surgery here and the nurse wouldn't provide her a walker to go to the bathroom yet when leaving said she needed a wheelchair otherwise they will get sued. They only care about themselves. Why would you get into this occupation if you don't care to help people? Unfortunate because the pre-operation nurse was a really nice lady trying to make everyone laugh and loosen their nerves about surgery.

I was nicely surprised for the number of test equipment which could be found there... and how all of Nurses, Doctors, and staff were friendly and really organized. Thanks to all who took care of me. I wish everyone there all the best in the New Year!

I just seen that this hospital has only a 3.5 star rating. And I can't understand why??? I've had 3 surgeries here over the last 20 odd years, been in and out of emergency many times with my 2 sons and myself for various reasons Many times over the years, each time the place was CRAZY WITH CHAOTIC PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, Every time the CARE given was AMAZING ALL THE NURSES AND DOCTORS WERE PASSIONATE AND LOVING This Hospital is Probably one of the Best Big City Hospitals anywhere in the World ???? GUARANTEED .

Never ever will I even suggest this hospital to anybody even if they have a child, my poor friend, who was only 14, received horrible care. She was not getting any better. She got sicker and sicker and she had a lot of infections but the hospital didn't even seem to care. This hospital is a disgrace and I can't wait to be able to do more research on who to complain to. This is completely unacceptable! I was expecting more from a top hospital. I'm definitely not letting this go.

Desiree Davis

Staff always friendly and professional. Very clean and uncluttered. Feels more like a commercial office building than a hospital (which is a good thing, not so cold and heavy feeling of dread).

Lisa Jørgensen

Emergency unit: The emergency staff was polite and helpful during the night but as the morning shift started, the nurses were rude and seemed to have zero control over what was going on with the patient. They forgot to give the patient food for over 12h, and when inquired about food, they said "we have more patients you know". The patient was almost sent home without a prescription, but luckily got one last minute after being checked out. However, the doctor forgot to make an appointment and never called even when that's what was promised. They told the patient he'd have to come back in 2 weeks, and didn't give a date or directions on where to go, whom to see etc. Trying to call the hospital and get help for this appointment when the doctor never called, was HOPELESS. Put on hold 2 times for 25 minutes alltogether. Absolute disgrace.

Svetlana Yanina

Many thanks to Dr. Rawi for his professionalism, calming manners and posite approach.

This was the poorest service to have ever experience in any health care facility. My daughter fell and broke her foot and after sitting in er for more than 5 hrs she was told just a sprain. The next morning she gets a call that says oh sorry we missed the fracture last night it is broke you need to come back for further treatment and test and was there for another 6 and a half hours just ridiculous. Also the lack of care while there was poor. She was in a chair in hallway with no way to elevate offered no ice or any pain control just said that they were so uncompassionate. I guess if you are not a citizen of Canada your not a priority SAD.

Ollie Rocha

My wife, Elaine, has been seriously injured in her right hand with very serious injuries and unable to clench a fist. Their occupational therapist, Lynn, has been the greatest blessing. We can tell that she truly cares and has spent much time analyzing and fixing my wife’s hand. We are so grateful for this team, especially Lynn. The hand specialist doctor, Ryan Paul, is good and professional too. Our sincere gratitude to the Hand Care Unit at Toronto Western Hospital!

Fair location near the HYW's, few parking space, enough for a resturant capacity not a hospital.

I just underwent a Gamma Knife radiation procedure at Toronto Western and I have nothing but positive things to say! The nurses were absolute angels and so pleasant to be around. As a student practicing in health care, I know how important good bedside and patient care is and these ladies surpassed the vibe check. Big shout out to the RN Rhoda who was overly kind, accomodating, and even stayed late after her shift was over to make sure my ride was here to bring me home. You guys rock!!

Serge Ivanov

Charlatans who will treat you with complete quackery. Can't diagnose, guess work only. Highly bureaucratic. Un-professional. Can't follow their own procedures, in some cases don't even know them. Staff cares only about they work position and don't care what they really suppose to be doing. Beware.

Very professional doctors and nurses.

Had a referral from a walk-in clinic to get ultrasound done on a Friday, we waited 3 hours to get in with a doctor but she just sent us home after a 2 min examination and asked to come back for ultrasound on Monday if things get worse.. complete waste of our time when they couldn't do an ultrasound in a whole weekend, and this is the emergency clinic were talking about

As out of towners seaking highly recommended neurosurgeon. Recently drove my friend to the Western Hospital. Parking situation certainly isn't the best, especially for very ill or older folks. Once inside we had to ask for directions as we didn't see any "map boards" Once we figured the direction we had to go things were fine. Everyone we came in contact with from the people in the coffee line to the registration desk to Doctors'staff to the Doctor himself, very nice Our area of the hospital seemed quite clean also.

I was feeling weakness, dizziness, fever and chilly on January 7, 2020. Paramedic team took me to Western Hospital. Attending Doctor Farooki instructed me took Gravol and Tylenol and took my blood for further investigation and release me go home. On January 8 early morning at 4 am, I received the phone call from Western hospital told me back to hospital as soon as I could because my blood result found the bacteria in my blood. around 8 am , the internal specialist , Dr. Tarek Abdelhalim told me, I have the gram- negative Ecoli bacteria in my blood and immediately IV Medication treatment is needed. Dr. Abdelhalim patiently explained and even wrote down the name of the bacteria in my blood after I countless time asked him and confused what kind of sickness I was suffering. At the time , I was weak , electrolyte abnormalities, fever, chills diarrhea, also problems with Transminities and Bradycardia and headache. Later day Dr. Cavalcanti, Rodrigo, Most responsible Health care provider monitor my intensive treatment, including ordering all CD Scan and X ray. He also carefully patiently listened to my concerns and treatment progress. On second day, I requested Dr. Rodrigo allow me go home for 3 hours to wash. Dr. Rodrigo kindly allow me go home for 3 hours off treatment and come back continually treatment. I was release from hospital after around 50 hours IV treatment and transitioned from IV to PO abx prior to discharge. But need follow up 2 weeks with Dr. Rodrigo and Dr. Abdelhalim. Dr. Rodrigo allowed me take a break again from treatment for 2 hours on the days before discharge me, but need come back at 6 pm for last half hour IV medication treatment. Abdelhalim call me at home and making sure I don't have any problems. All doctors gave me the kind consideration and allowing me have a break go home wash during my hospital stay. I consider myself very lucky and grateful for the treatment Western hospital team provided me and Emergency Attending Dr. Farooki's suspicious and sent my blood to further investigation and the whole specialist team provided me with outstanding medical treatment. If not giving the treatment and detected my bacteria in blood early, I may not survive today as living alone senior. I am also very thankful for Dr. Samanani Shazia detail discharge Summary. Thank you, Western Hospital, Thank you Dr. Rodrigo, Thank You Dr. Abdelhalim,Thank you Dr. Samanani and Thank you Dr. Farooki. Grateful patient. J. Yu

Visited this hospital for nerve compression possible thoracic outlet at the discretion of a physician trained there. Never before in my life have I felt as disrespected as I was by the process of trying to get treated and referred to neurology (this hospitals speciality). Finally after having a referral resent numerous times I was sent for an EMG test and would not be getting seen an actual neurologist as recommended by emerg (didnt find this out until the apt I was told I would over the phone). Finally saw Dr Satyendra Sharma to get some answers and this disgraceful person had the audacity to tell me irregular motion in my fingers and sleep disrupting nerve flareups were a symptom of “anxiety”. He then violated my freedom of speech and discriminated against me for being Asd claiming I was verbally assaulting him by saying he should be able to explain why my fingers cant bend regularly anymore, going as far as to say I was lying when they initially hypothesized it was ulnar nerve palsy in emerg. I will see to it that my nerve compressions are treated and that this doctor and everyone else who slowed me down is sent paperwork being told why they are no expert in neurology. I would almost go as far as to financially set them back with HR violations if things in this country were actually just. Thanks for ruining my summer Western Hospital!

If you require medical care do not go to Toronto Western Hospital. That is actually what it says on their website. The government is letting them down and they are taking this out on their patients. UHN is the worst hospital network imaginable. They should do to Western what they did to Wellesley. Close it forever!

Some of the Emergency staff are great, unfortunately, most are not. Both Doctors and Nurses are cold, detached and condescending. In fact, there was only one Doctor, and only one Nurse that appeared compassionate and had the right attitude and demeanor of what one would expect/hope of medical practitioners. The rest are here as a job; a pay cheque and nothing more. I've been here in Emergency (not as a patient) for almost 24 hours and I am disgusted and disheartened. I've witnessed nurses call for security due to frail and ill unruly senior citizens -- security would arrive within seconds, and both the nurses and security would ensure that the frail ill seniors were left quite frightened (I have no doubt your families are so very proud of your bravery in teaching these frail and frightened seniors a lesson). I also witnessed various family members of patients call for a Nurse and 20 to 50 minutes would pass before a Nurse bothered to attend. The nurses were literally too busy all sitting at the nurse stations talking about various important things like TV, movies, jokes and such (boring -- trust me, I had no choice but to listen for hours)When people would call/ask for a Doctor -- hours would pass before one would attend. The Doctors, Nurses and overall tone would best be described as flippant and crass. God forgive you all.

Appointment was supposed to be at 10:15AM, was told doctor was running behind by a half hour, it’s now 12:15 and no one has talked to us since the original appointment time. Doctors and support staff actively avoid you so they don’t have to talk to you. We saw roughly 10-20 groups of people who came in after us get looked after first, and were told we couldn't leave because they had no idea when the appointment would start and it would be cancelled with a fee if we weren't here when our name is called. Extremely unprofessional and poor service, no wonder people are avoiding going to the doctors at all cost, they only care about money and completing their 9-5.

I would like first of all to thank the nurse Ashly who was in duty when I visited my mom at the emergency unit of the hospital on monday December 23rd, 2019...she is very profissional, kind and she takes the extra mile in serving patients, I would recomend her for higher post where she can train other nurses how to provide an excellent service even if resources are limited...the team who was in duty was also great...there might be some space for improvement for the facility as a building from interior aspects and renovation...doctors are knowledgable in their field of speciality...as an overall evaluation from patients aspect I would say this is an excellent hospital for cretical cases ...I really appreciate it...

With a due respect, but I wonder where some doctors qualified to get their license. We are in an examination room with 3 beds and the Doctor allows a person to come coughing with strep throat to complete there exam with even a courtesy to either advise or contain the person. This is a concern to the elderly and those that have young children at home. I am also certain that the doctor in question did not follow hospital protocol to wash their hands after each patient. This is really disturbing and incomprehensible coming from a health care professional.

Was injuried very badly at workplace was going to Altum Health Dr.Lau and his sidekick Isabel are pushovers tell you one thing thinking your gonna get help and next thing you know WSIB has notes saying different stuff then what they told me in person it's been almost 2 yrs and my injury is worst because I was promised physio and I guess I was supposed to attend mood assessment and never did get a date I was just advised that Dr.Lau set up for me and just because I didn't go meanwhile I didn't know about it I cannot get physio or my medical covered because of these Doctors saying they would tell WSIB what is happening with me mentally, physically, emotionally it's sickening how I'm still cannot feel anything from my right three toes up to my knee I cannot bend my toes and I cannot feel a thing on my right side of my calf and here I am now writting a review when my injury was in 2016 honestly these people did nothing for me at all I'm dead serious i got fired for what reason I couldn't tell you still trying to figure that out so lost out on a pay cheque each week ,my medication isn't covered because of what they told WSIB and also no physio I wouldn't give Altum Health any stars especially these two individuals how they say one thing to your face and then WSIB different story it's sad because ive lost alottt because these fools... Thanks for nothing Lau,Isabel your supposed to help and you guys made my life more difficult because your "words to WSIB" must be nice to go on each day knowing your getting paid and don't have to worrie about each month how your gonna get by because I can't barley walk Thanks!

I cannot express enough gratitude for this place. They have a large epilepsy clinic. I had brain surgery to hopefully eliminate my seizures in September by Dr. Taufik Valiante. He is a world class neurosurgeon. I am 4 months seizure free so far after surgery (longest since seizures started 3 years ago). He has basically given me my life back. So 5 stars from me is a no brainer (pun intended).

This is the WORST HOSPITAL in Toronto. I had a brain aneurysm and a stroke on January 2019 DOCTOR AGID and GAIL NIXON made me wait over a hundred days past due for my mri. To check the coils in my brain. I had to go somewhere else to finally get it done. And they did it same day for me. These 2 clowns shouldn’t be in heath care. There licences should be taking away. I called there office over 50 times and they never answered or called me back once . Stay away or die in there care.they really don’t care. I will be contacting CPTV and CITY NEWS. ( STAY AWAY )

I was admitted here for an emergency craniotomy for a tumour resection in early June. I cannot express how incredible the staff were here - from my initial intake with the Emergency staff, (thank you Dr. L., Dr. D., and ER nurse A.E.) to Dr. Valiente's entire neurosurgical team, and the nurses who took exceptional care of me while I was awaiting my procedure on the 6th Fell floor and during my recovery in PACU: Stephanie, Calvin, Amanda, and Yasmine. I owe my recovery to their fantastic level of commitment to making patients like me feel cared for during a time of confusion, weakness, and vulnerability. I am unbelievably grateful for all of their expedited care and hard work. Even up to my discharge, they ensured my referral to Princess Margaret were in place, as I now face a different path of treatment and recovery that would never have even been known if it weren't for the work of Valiente's team. It's because of them I am even able to sit here and even type this without the tremendous pain I was suffering from before. Thank you, Western. Your care sets a precedent, one I hope anyone receiving healthcare receives.

Peter M

Neglect. That's how my father is treated here. This is his second time back because staff ignored the concerns we had. Nobody seems to care about an 81 old man whos suffering in pain. I see other here getting treated with gold standard all around and my poor father is suffering in pain with no staff coming by to even check on him. I even had to install his call bell for him. His CT scan results come back and the emergency doctor in-care goes home with no replacement in an ER to check the results. So now he has to wait tomorrow for someone to care for him while whaling in pain. Unbelievable.

Lea A

The staff (mainly the nurses) are so damn rude, probably to cover up for their lack of knowledge. The people giving the 5 star ratings on here are probably the staff themselves, because I don't see how anyone could have a good experience at a hospital run by clowns.

I brought my common law partner to the ER because he was in tremendous pain and overall not doing well. He eventually called me to pick him up. They discharged him without a note or any explanation of what was going on. He still feels the same way and they refuse to talk to me or provide any information on how I should care for him. The nurse hung up on me when I called. What a joke.

I broke my ankle, emergency was alright. I went back for a pre-surgery consultation and I needed more pain killers. The doctor gave me 30 1mg hydromorphs with a refill but he screwed up the script and I couldn't get my refill. Writing a script cant be that difficult.

Dr. Lau, Dr. Martins, the nurses, med techs and admin staff are an all-star team. I had a cheilectomy with big toe bone fusion. I had two phone assessments (due to COVID, and they were efficient and thorough). Then I met with Dr. Lau and team twice prior to surgery. From first phone assessment to surgery date was 6 months. Day of surgery all touch points with admin and medical professionals were clear and really made me feel like I was in great hands. Recovery is progressing as it was described to me. Post surgery I had wet my bandages (a no-no), and I was seen within 1 hour of my SOS call. I have had two post op assessments and a third schedule for Dec (this one via phone bec all is progressing well). I feel so grateful to have had access to such great care. I would also suggest to sign up on the UHN portal (MYUHN); Using it gives you access to all your lab and diagnostic reports, doctor notes (including the surgery details - very impressive), and all your appointment notifications. It is a great tool to keep you up to date with all aspects of the process. In summary, I would give Dr.Lau and team 6 Stars out of 5 if I could!

I went to this hospital two years ago. It's a very big hospital. I found this hospital to be very clean and spacious. Ample of seating space. Staff are very helpful. If you get lost or are unable to find the location of department then there is help desk or information centre as well from where you can inquire about it. Moreover, there is proper signage as well si that it's easy for patients and people to go where they want to go. Cafe is also great. Lots of food options such as Tim hortons, Booster Juice and many more. Overall, helpful staff and caring staff as well. But sometimes, you might to have to wait but that's worth it. Doctors, nurses, cleaning staff are very nice and they help and answer your questions as well. I will recommend going to this hospital for any treatment.

Horrible experience considering trillium hospital in mississauga is bad this hospital is even worse. No one pays attention to the patient nor do they say hello the emergency staff are rude. Regardless they do this job everyday and get annoyed with people but they knew what they were getting them self into when they signed up for it. The doctor was very snobby I'd ask what he and the bus were doing to my mom and they both ignored me and finally when I asked again he answered and turned his back as if he was forced to answer. I had told the nurse in the begging my you gotta really look close before you put the needle in because it's hard to find them he ignored and just poked my mom and she said stop he said only two seconds more... then came back after and poked her in the hand and she really was hurt after also he lifted the tissue before hand and her blood started dripping. This hospital is horrible! . Only people that were actually good were the ambulance and the one security guard. Even at tim hortons the lady was misrebel what's it take for people to smile these days and actually enjoy life....

On January 31st this year I had a lumbar decompression operation. The day was one of the more extreme cold days of the winter. All went well and the staff before post op dept were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. But in post op I have to tell of a nurse there, Matthew Cowan, he went above and beyond any expectations I could ever have had. It was the end of the shift, 9pm, and Matthew had done for the day. I was very dubious about going home, even though my good friend Sandy was there to help me. Matthew, seeing my hesitation offered to accompany us to my home to help manouvere the journey there. I am a fiercely independent woman in her 80`s who at first thought I would be OK and refused the extra help. Matthew had just finished a gruelling shift and would be looking forward to getting home soon too I am sure. As this is day surgery I had to leave, still a bit dazed from a long day at Western, and a bit drowsy after op re anesthetic, etc. Finally I realized that his offer of help for the journey home would be invaluable. Help getting in and out of a cab, & his help getting along the icy sidewalk was so much easier. I hope this is Matthews chosen profession, he has all the attributes you would expect from a caring dedicated nurse and human being, please pass on my commendation and thanks to Matthew, he made a stressful day so much less stressful.

Went in to take the COVID test. Very clean interior with all staff wearing masks and properly socially distanced. The rooms were very clean and nurse doing the test was polite. What a joke of a hospital. My wife was being discharged from surgery and I was told I had to get a wheelchair I had to got to the first floor, go to the bank machine and then get change and walk around to two different locations, then go outside to look for one and the volunteers were rude. Been to many hospitals and a worker always brought the person out with a wheelchair. Since when is this the patient's job?
