July 20th I had to go for a CT Scan around 9:50 am They were unusually busy through no fault of their own. Upon completion the nurse insisted on pushing my wheelchair out to my wife’s waiting vehicle. My wife had the change for the meter inside the hospital, the nurse said no worries I will do all this for you, unknowing to my wife she had a coin amongst her change that didn’t work. The nurse paid the difference and would not accept money from my wife. The nurses and staff at this hospital are truly amazing people, the technician for the CT Scan was very kind and most knowledgeable every step of the way. Our sincere thanks to the nurses at Strathroy Hospital. Just the very best.

Clean, kind, respectful, fast, well-organized, efficient, welcoming, excellent doctors, nurses, support staff, and volunteers. Parking is well-priced and close. Do your health a favour and come down!

September 29, 2015 My wife and I have lived in Strathroy for approximately 4 years and the reason we determined that Strathroy was the best place to live was to a great extent the excellent health care network including the VON SMART program here. On 5 previous occasions both my wife and I have visited the hospital for various reasons.and on all these visits the admissions staff, the nursing staff and the doctors, have been very kind and professional. I just had a day surgery with Dr Rajgopal and his team, it was very professionally done. Beginning at the admissions desk to the nursing unit for the surgery, I found all personnel to be extremely professional. My wife was kept informed and reassured by the nursing staff as my surgery took longer than planned. At the completion of my surgery, Dr Rajgopal spoke to my wife about the reason for the extended time required for the surgery. She found to be very comforting and appreciated that he would do this personally. We have lived in major cities across Canada and are impressed with the quality of service from our local community hospital.

Went to this hospital to get stitches. Waited for about 2 hours before I got called in. Then waited another two hours to get 7 stitches put in. Following week went back to get stitches removed and again waited 2 hours to see someone. The nurse that took my stitches out reopened my cut, and had to be re stitched. If there was an actual Doctor taking the stitches out they would have recognized that it wasn't completely healed. This is by far the worst hospital. If you can drive to another hospital that would be strongly recommended.

I came here from London because I was doubled over in pain getting sick and peeing blood and the staff at Victoria Hospital didn't take it serious and wanted me to wait over 6 hours! I got in at Strathroy within an hour and the Doctors and staff where very kind. They did an ultrasound that showed nothing but after still being concerned they ordered a CT and found the issue. They recommended a follow up with a specialist for treatment and I'm doing better. I cannot say how thankful I am for the staff here! This is how a hospital should be in Canada!

A special thank you to Dana a nurse on the 2 nd floor who was very kind and so helpful. Thank you for making my husband experience such a success. Chris & Laurie Moore

The wait times are terribly long.

Night time emergency. Experience was friendly and professional! Service here far exceeds anything I've ever received in London efficient and friendly.

U have wait hours and hours to see the doctor. The hospital is not even clean properly. I was in pain and they had no one to care.

Carol Acre

Very friendly, well organized, busy hospital who take care and pride in and how they care for all patients.

Sarah Zimmerman

This hospital is useless. I was told by telehealth to get checked out because of bleeding at 19 wks pregnant. Instead they kept me there without telling me anything, gave me a lecture about miscarriage and sent me home. The doctor didn't even read my chart before telling me to leave and had no idea I had previous bleeding. Very bad beside manner. Take the trip to London.

I have been to this hospital many times and have had bad experiences most times, the last time i was there i thought i just had a bad flu and i waited a few hours when i was in the waiting room almost screaming in pain. when they get me in was waiting there for another long time i had a bathroom in my room i went to get up to go over when i got there and felt like i was going to faint i was screaming for minutes for help because i didn't wanna hit my head a nurse came in and i told her i was loosing my hearing and she said to me " well get up and get to your bed what do you want me to do carry you?" than she left i ended up fainting and when i gained consciousness i screamed again for help after 10 mins i ended up just crawling back to my bed and just in and out of consciousness. it was terrifying and no one world help me. they told me when they did come in they thought one of my organs were failing luckily it wasn't they did a few tests and sent me home. it was the worst care Ive ever had i will just go to London from now on.

As long as you know whats wrong and what you need done...its ok. Otherwise go elsewhere for emergencies if possible.

Mansour Abdelgadir

Very cleen place and Very kindly staff they care well about patient

I hate this hospital. When I brought my 8 year old in with a broken arm, the emergency room denied us access and said we had to go to another hospital about 60kms away. And now during Covid it’s worse, the empathy from staff and lack of general care is atrocious.. go anywhere else if you can.

My wife and I had the best care ever, cannot understand at attitude of the other ladies negative comments. I had bowel surgery, in at 12 pm done by 9 pm with no complications. My wife had a biopsy, one of the ladies there held her hand, super people. Graham and Roseann Worsley

By the time they got me an appointment I already had x-rays in Sarnia hospital why so much red tape?

as for this page I give it a one star...there's no pictures, no description, no nothing....but seeing as I've been here a few times for personal reasons or to support a friend/family member...I can give the place a two star rating...don't fret, London only gets a one star from me...first off the paid parking...like really, we're a small town...it's not that busy...the best we get in there are sniffles, cuts, broken bones and the odd pain that can't be explained...or we get the elderly for multiple reasons..usually dealing with age related illnesses...and what if you have a dying child in there...no wait he/she would be taken into London...where I would raise a stink about it there....secondly the waiting game...I go in and can be the only one in the waiting room and still wait for two or more hours before being let in...and a child of age, the parents who know them best and give you more information than anyone including their boyfriends, isn't allowed in to see them unless the child says it's o.k....I almost flipped a gasket when the told me that...my daughter heard me and told them to let me in...and the idea of doctors not being allowed to practice medicine to their own patients is insane...there's not enough doctors in the hospital emergency room as it is, all because for whatever reason their not allowed in...even if the patient winds up being admitted he/she can't see his/her own doctor due to the fact that doctor does not have authorization to be there....in my opinion a doctor can be in any hospital day or night if their patient is inside it...whatever happened to comforting the patient not making them feel uneasy about being in...the nurses are distant they come in give you what you need and leave...I was in when I was younger and a nurse would actually sit on the side of my bed or in the chair next to it and talk to me for a few minutes to comfort me...they use to care...wait I know now...there's not enough nurses anymore like there use to be...now they are more worried about being fired/laid off due to cut backs that they have detached themselves from the one thing that brought them to that job...the patients...yes us little people do watch and are noticing...I'm one who is willing to stand up and say something about it!!!!!

If I could give them 10 stars I would, they looked after my wife like Angels without wings, they make you feel like they know you. The facilities are great and they have great coordination. My wife has been in twice with her seizures and a very threatening virus due to chemo caused low immune system. They actually care for the vistors too! I have stopped here several nights between their shifts, there is no change in high standards. I am so greatful for us to be in their care. This has been my experience, actually writing this from the hospital. Thankyou so much to all the Staff involved. Ian

Excellent service by all staff If you need anything thay are on top of things I live in London Ontario and i go there for very fast service.

I agree with a lot of reviews, this hospital is a joke. I went in twice for chest pain, like horrible chest pain that made me leave work, but the first time I was sent away with an inhaler because it was "probably pneumonia and should clear up". Went back not long after with the same pain. So this doctor decided for press deeply into the muscles around my ribs causing me a great deal of pain, to the point I could hardly breathe. I have damage around the area from a rollover 2 years ago and I've never been given anything for the pain or anything that might help because it doesnt go away. So I'd say hire more staff or hire better staff because that's just sad. I had better service in Newbury and their hospital is considerably smaller.

Andrew Ciupka

My wife had day surgery. Easily one of the nicest hospitals I've ever been too. Treatment by all the staff was outstanding. The nurses treat you like a real person instead of the cattle experience that can more likely in a larger city. I see some negative reviews here and my inclination is that they are more isolated experiences. Do note the numerous good reviews for the staff. They are warranted and if you are like me, you will find it a valuable quality in any hospital.

Went to the Strathroy Hospital today with my wife and 15 month old son to be with her for the gender reveal ultra sound of our second child. I had dropped her and my son off while I find somewhere to park. When I walked in, I explained that my wife had just came in and I was meeting her for her ultra sound appointment. The lady at the entrance (who will be from here on referred to as 'Karen') immediately gave me a confused response of why I shouldn't be there and it is "against policy" and also that "children cannot go into an ultra sound room" (my 15 month old son in a car seat). We had been there about a month ago for the first ultra sound, and were let in without any fuss. So I picked up my son from my wife and went back to the car to wait. My wife then text me and said later, Karen told her that the waiting room was "too full" and that is why I was not allowed in. See the attached photo my wife sent of the over flowing waiting room. The ultra sound tech was a student, and ran into a few issues performing the ultra sound, so the senior tech came in to assist and at that time asked if my wife had anyone waiting in the waiting area that would like to come see the ultra sound. My wife explained I was denied from entering the hospital and the senior tech replied, "Oh, what? That's weird". Yep.

I have fibromyalgia and after 10 prescription medication that gave me side effects I was offered the option for medical cannabis. I was reluctant to take it but after a bit of research I said yes and that changed my life. From a sick person in constant pain to a normal person. It was holly grail for me. Going forward I got sick and needed help, (and no it is not from cannabis but from bad sushi) to end up in the ER at this "amazing" hospital and had the ER doctor look at me sideways when I told him about my prescription and from that moment on to treat me like a junkie and implied I was one as well. I was there from 9:30 a.m. till 3 p.m. for 2 blood samples, one urine sample and an IV with saline that had some sort of gravol in it. The "great" doctor came back to tell me the results of the tests and to blame everything on cannabis use. When I asked for a copy of my blood and urine tests they said they can't print them and I should ask my family doctor. I have never been treated with such disrespect ever in my life and I have travelled the world and never once felt this way. How can you keep such a doctor in your hospital? I have seen people going in ahead of me even though I was told that there is only one person ahead of me. I heard the doctor instruct the nurses how to usher me out and to refuse giving me any more explanation because "I am pushy and asking for answers". Guess what: you are a doctor and you are supposed to give me an answer when I come and see you for a health matter. Is not like I asked you to write my PhD thesis! This is outrageous to say the least and disappointing...

I don’t think I’d even give 1 start but anyway...in my 10 years of having this hospital as my local hospital I can 100% say I’ve never had a positive/successful visit. Recently waited 6 hours with a seizuring 17 month old and after asking multiple times for help or at least some Advil no one seemed to have time for us. I obviously left and went to London but it’s unfortunate. A few years ago I was bleeding out in the waiting room unconscious after being brought in my ambulance and they plopped me in a wheel chair and made me wait in the empty waiting room for an hour. I have a few other bad experiences but those stand out the most to me and I will never be going there again. I won’t even be having my baby there I’m expecting and I live right beside it! Please just drive to London if you can..not that its much better.

I recently had day surgery at SMGH and was very impressed with all the hospital staff I had contact with, beginning with the registration clerk and the volunteer who directed me to the Day Surgery dept. I was especially pleased and grateful for the professionalism, competence and caring demonstrated by the nursing staff who prepped me for surgery, the anesthetist and the OR nurses who attended to me and made me feel as comfortable as possible under the circumstances, and of course the surgeon, who did a wonderful job. Well done everyone, and a heartfelt THANK YOU.

I thought London hospitals were bad. My signficant other had a specialist appointment there. When we got there, I was immediately told to leave. Covid or not, this is already a bad policy I will never agree with. Then they actively refused to help her figure out where she was going. Didn't tell her anything. It cost me $10 in gas and $3 in parking to get there - please let me know who I can send this bill to.

After speaking with Telehealth and being told to go straight to hospital because of a serious condition. I drove my 74 year old mother to strathroy emergency department right away. She sat in emergency for almost 4 hours. And after 4 patients walked in from the street and we're taken back before her, she questioned the staff when it would be here turn. There response was they didn't know? How is this possible when the waiting room is empty and she is the only one left.? Poor management.

lynn rowdon

There for day surgery.....every employee was pleasant, efficient, helpful. Felt I was in good and caring hands and given attention I needed even though staff were busy looking after multiple patients. Great atmosphere, comforting , caring and efficient. Thank you to Sheila, Lisa , Paula and others.

Went to the emergency and met the registration nurse she was nice. Then the triage nurse who was also nice. I've been to many hospitals in the Toronto area so I did expect a lot more questions but they didn't ask many. I believe I arrived at 1pm and was seen and left by 4:30pm which was pretty great time! The nurses were friendly. The Toronto hospital nurses can have a real additudes. The doctor was okay. Overall a good experience all things considered of needing to go to the emergency.

The emergency is very slow but over all is ok

Every time 4 hour wait, never have the right staff that is knowledgeable. Told me to drive to London with 2 broken wrists because they could not set one properly.

We are very fortunate to have this great little hospital! If you think emergency room waits and treatment is better elsewhere, think again. Most are far worse! If you have a long wait, it is because there are others whose condition is far more dire than yours. The staff is not having you wait because they want to - there is a reason for it. Someday you might be the one who gets in and gets seen the quickest because it is really necessary. Be thankful you're condition or that of your child is not life threatening. The nurses, doctors and staff in general are friendly, kind and helpful. Sure you'll find one or two who are less so but don't you find that just about anywhere? I recently spent a week in this hospital and I have nothing but admiration, respect and gratitude for the staff - especially the nurses. And believe me, arranging and having tests here is far more pleasant and easier than having them in London! I know, I have had procedures here and London. This place wins hands down. So please, no complaints. We are beyond fortunate to have this hospital. If you think London or Sarnia are better then go there. I'll stay here where the service is best.

My grandmother cut her finger open, so I rushed her to the hospital. Luckily it was Sunday, therefore it was a very quick visit. the nurses and doctors were extremely friendly and helpful.

Wanted to say a big thank you to all the nurses and doctors who helped me thru my stay at Strathroy. There professionalism and friendly mannerism greatly helped during my stay, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel relaxed when dealing with my medical issue. Thanks again Gerry Farr.....

Would rate 0 stars if I could. I had an appointment there to see an orthopedic surgeon. Made me feel like I was stupid for coming there. Said I don't have a problem whatsoever even tho I couldn't and still cannot hardly walk. Gave him a package of paper I needed him to sign so I could get help with work, and paid up front so they would send the paperwork to my house, since I live over an hour away. Almost three weeks later, still has not arrived. I am not happy at all. Would NOT recommend.

Lu Brule

I thank the Doctors and Staff, as I have been to several different hospitals in Canada and this hospital has the most personable people working there. I thank the staff in the surgery theater and the ICU for having made my stay a pleasant one. Keep smiling!

The staff that cared for my 99 year old mother for the past many days are wonderful people, What a great bunch of nurses, doctors and staff. The caring and professionalism was first rate, thank-you all so much!

Sitting in the the emerg for hours in extreme pain from a bacterial infection. I will probably die of septicemia before I am seen by a doctor. If there was a score less than zero I would use it.

Such a nice quaint facility. That small town feel with the professionalism that you expect from a hospital. Easy to get around and friendly and helpful staff to show you the way if you get lost. Lost of parking the is close by and easily accessible within the town. #localguides

free health care sucks we should have to pay for it

Great hospital! I can't say enough about the nurses! Every nurse I had was outstanding. Very kind and professional. Kristen, Laurie, Tammy, Emily, Karen and all the other nurses who looked after me before and after surgery- thank you for everything! I truly appreciated your kindness, warmth and excellent bedside manner. ❤❤❤❤

Mike Fazelyar

Understaffed. Deserted. Wife has possible pneumonia and we’ve been sitting around for hours. What a joke.

Chantai Waugh

Wonderful experience with the nurses in the Same Day Care. I had surgery scheduled with Dr. Marignani and the nurses who did my intake and provided after care were amazing. So thorough, accommodating and kind. I was so nervous and they took the time to sit with me, talk it through and calm my fears. I have had this procedure done 3 times now at varying hospitals and this was BY FAR the best experience I've ever had. Thank you!

Cindy Henry

Not the best for overnight care when its desperately needed.

Cheryl Jones

N

I had surgery five days ago and the surgeon who wrote my prescription cancelled my pain management prescription the day after surgery and did not bother to call me so we wasted our afternoon dragging my butt around the city thinking we could get it filled out when we couldn't, and during a pandemic no less. I'm shocked I received only 2 days of pain management medication. Today has been day 3 of no medication besides tylenol/ibuprofen 5 days post op and I have been up all night repeatedly and the pain is so severe I cant eat let alone drink water. Why did I come here!!!!!!

Don LaPointe

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They treat like a person instead of a number.

Erin A

The staff are so incredible. I had day surgery done there and I've never felt so cared for at a hospital before. They were very kind and didn't rush me at all. I wouldn't change a thing! Keep up the fantastic work Dr. Marignani and staff.

Belinda Repose

Took another woman into triage who had come in afternoons my friend. The woman didn't register. Meanwhile, my friend who has cardiac symptoms was left to suffer including a severe headache and nosebleed. Some persons know how to bypass the system they just tell the nurse "I can't breathe " . She didn't seem in distress to me. I am also a nure, retired . She was given a ecg.ny friend wasn't The next person, a woman, was given an ecg My friend, diabetic , her BP 201/ 119 ,sweating profusely, nausea , feeling tired and faint . Why didn't my Muslim friend not given an ecg test?

Crystal DOWHAN

For a small town they have the medical equipment like a big city. I've been here numours times and the wait is never long! I will continue to go back when needed (children too). If you want big fancy hospital. ...Drive to London, Windsor, and maybe Sarnia. ..be prepared to wait 8 hours there

Kevin

The emergency department is dead. I don't hear anyone. I'm still waiting. I get there is 1 doctor. But come on. There should not be any reason why. I'm just here for my son to to get checked out. Cause he might have a concussion from a trip. And we need a report. Or we would have been out of here. This sucks.

Shawn Hunsberger

Would give place a negative 3 but cant came in with a broken nose and needing stitches but had to wait 5 hours bleeding everywhere and just was told to keep waiting yet the doctors just sit outside my room chatting it up about the weather. Will never come back at all!!!

A Sefan82

I've been here twice now with my kids. The first time waited for 4 hours with my sons broken wrist. And I'm going on 3 with my daughter who is 5, has a dislocated elbow. Relocating an elbow is a very quick procedure. They don't seem to mind letting little people suffer. Go to London instead! It's worth the drive and they treat kids as priority. **update** after waiting 5 hours they tried resetting her elbow a couple times and caused severe pain. only to find out later from an X-ray it was broken not dislocated.

Miss Paquette

Awful! My two year old was hurt and suddenly can’t walk and we waited 5+ hours without seeing anyone before deciding the wait was absolutely ridiculous and leaving to go to Newbury hospital...apparently in Strathroy the common cold is more of an emergency than a 2 year old who is unable to walk due to a physical injury, my husband watched multiple people that came in after him go in before him. I hope to god this isn’t a serious injury for both my son and the hospital I will be suing.
