Worst experience of my life . Rude staff , sketchy , not to mention that the” doctor” who helped me was a sarcastic /rude/lack of empathy intern who obviously didn’t know what he was doing .. advice take care of your health so you don’t have to go to this hell

Simon K (Sly)

Friendly staff but hurry up and wait if you're not in a rush for medical treatment . If you have the sniffles go to walk in clinic you you'll have faster service . Fast treck was quick having a fracture though I was in and out within 2 hours.

I went there for emergncy and, a girl by the name of Bahar, Helped me a lot. I came out of emergncy in 2 hours( I know its amayzing ) I just wanted to thank her specially and also Gholam and Hossien, for helping me in that matter. geep up the good work

Sheena Jobin

I had the worst treatment here. I went in after a car accident with 6 broken ribs and a broken collarbone. They put my iv in wrong and everything they were giving me was going into my hand not to mention the bruising they caused. Then they refused to feed me and treated me just terrible the whole time. If you'd like to survive your hospital experience... GO TO A DIFFERENT HOSPITAL!!!

Amir Ahadi

Nurses are professional and caring, everyone is doing the best they can with the available resources to provide care for patients.

Emmanuel Karnasiotis

This hospital sucks. The triage ladies are so disrespectful and completely useless they need a major attitude adjustment. Needs major improvement. Get rid of triage staff 1 and 2. Your better off going to a vet they may help you faster AND THERE CHARGER STATION ISNT WORKING. This place is The worst.

I had a broken finger and I walked in to the emergency and because of a physical injury they fast tracked my process and it was done really well and eventually I visited the Hand Clinic and doctor Ayene, olubimpe had the best treatment and I am well on my way to recovery.

Dean S.

Great Hand Clinic. The most efficient I have ever seen.

Laila Tov

The nurse I had was great however I noticed my test results took quite a time to get back. When I asked the helpful nurse she realized they had misplaced or lost my blood test 2 or so hours ago and hasn't notified my nurse that I need to redo them. That was my only problem other than that it was a pretty smooth visit.

Never go to this hospital. They nearly killed me twice. One time they prescribed the wrong antibiotics and second time they improperly did surgery. Further, the nurse in the recovery room is cruel and put an unnecessary catheder in me. Very bad hospital. No one should support it.

Sofia Khlutchina

Never had a pleasant ER experince. Went in around 7:50 am Sunday morning. Wait time wasn’t bad, front staff were really nice. Very direct with where exactly I had to go. Got called up within 20 minutes. Doctor came in, didn’t really listen to my explanation of symptoms I had. Sent me to X-ray after I explained I have back issues but it’s probably not at fault for whatever pain I was in. Told me to gurgle warm salt water for my throat but never actually told me what was wrong with it. Went home after three hours with no answers. Just was told my tonsils is swollen and my back was causing me pain. Went to a walk-in clinic the next day and within 5 minutes he was able to tell me I had a bad muscle spasm that wouldn’t go away and a viral infection, gave me a prescription, and that was that. Only giving it two stars because staff were friendly. Filthy waiting area, saw a used syringe on the floor next to me while waiting for an X-ray. Not worth your time, better off going to a walk in clinic.

I haven't been to Southlake for about 8 years and today I came into emergency and it is so disorganized and complicated. There was a line of people not knowing what to do, there's no clear signs. After a little while I noticed the tv above going through instructions on what to do but the set up wasn't like the tv was showing. We got through to fast track and coming around the corner the stench and heat was disgusting! I thought it was supposed to be sterile and clean in here but there was even garbage on the floor. I literally feel gross being there!

I was in a bad car accident Christmas eve and taken to Southlake. I was alone and absolutely terrified, all I wanted was my mom and dad. I was in so much pain, probably crying loudly just wanting my parents and for someone to hold my hand.... that's when nurse Sabina walked over, leaned right over me and said "Hayley, you're 26 years old. You don't need anyone to hold your hand" , then walked away. I felt like a peice of meat, a burden, alone, scared, and absolutely no reassurance was given to me in that moment. She could of even passed me my phone that I couldn't reach because of my broken rib and ankle, so I could call my parents for comfort...but she belittled my emotions and made me feel more sad and alone. Nurse Sabina, I pray you always have someone to hold your hand when you need it, even if you are incapable of offering yours. Also upon admission, I was told I have a nasty hip laceration on my left side from the seat belt, and ZERO wound care was ever provided, no one even gave me something to clean it. I have photos...and insurance knows. .

They don't help with mental health, if anything they make it worse. I tried going to many agencies to get me help and they blew me off so I thought the hospital would leave me with at least good resources and a temporary psychistrist. Nobody in there listened to me, asked me questions and cut me off before I was done. They wouldn't let me outside when that's the only thing that calms me down. I was watched 24/7 and saw the mental health workers laugh together while I was crying and having an anxiety attack which they gave me no medication for. The psychiatrist I saw the next day also rushed me, interrupted me, didn't want to tell me about what medications he was giving me, and told me to leave. I told him I have nobody, I'm living in my car, I've tried these meds and didn't work, I need a psychiatrist and a plan to get better, I don't think he understands yet because I didn't get to talk enough. They made me leave and threw me on the street while I was crying. Do not go here for mental health, they will l make you feel like an animal and leave you alone.

Friends are having a baby here. Very good.

Sadly was there recently for my father-in-law and found this hospital to be the cleanest that I have ever come across. The cardiology department from the nurses to the care staff were all exceptional under the grim circumstances. Every single staff member was warm and hospitable. So impressed..

The emergency room nurses left my wife in a chair overnight and did not give her any blankets and did not check up on her for hours. The emergency nurses are rude and not compassionate. No one wants to be at the hospital emergency but these nurses make the experience even worse. If you can go to a different hospital.

This hospital apparently doesn't do blood work. What kind of hospital is this.

Ok hospital, too bad the younger nurse staff already have a poor attitude. Instead of huddling around the nurse's station gossiping about personal activities, try showing a little Compassion to the sick. We really dont want to be hospitalized.

My husband went to emerg yesterday morning at 9:00 a.m, discharged in the afternoon with pain killers and asked to return Monday at 6:00 a.m to see a specialist and he would decide what would be done as no urologist was available on Sunday. I drove him there on time as per their instructions and 11 hours later he has not been seen by any urologist! They asked him not to eat or drink past midnight as he would likely have surgery. They do not have him on IV fluids even! This is unacceptable! Spoke to charge nurse who said they have been paging, but he has scheduled surgeries. Emergency patients not a priority? One urologist to oversee entire hospital issues for patients with urology issues. He returned par at 3:30 saying he would be coming, it is now 5:00 pm and no show! I am frustrated at lack of response and if there are scheduled surgeries why was my husband’s told to go back at 6:00 a.m and he was then told they would call the doctor around 8:00 as h was not there! This is blatantly mismanagement and not enough doctors staffed to take care of issues. In the interim no food or drink until maybe he decides to show up and assess the situation! Was that not the whole point of having spent yesterday in emerg and today was the day we were asked to return to fix the problem?! With the increase of people moving into York region out hospitals are showing signs of doctors who cannot possibly attend to all the patients with needs. But 11 hours later and not have one doctor assess the situation! Completely unacceptable!!!! ????

My experience at Southlake Regional Health Centre was absolutely out standing starting with Annette Jones and family Doctor John J. Zasowski MD,C.C.F.P helping me. Commutation service and thy Doctors and nurses, I've seen so far have been prefessional and sincere and helpful for my problems so I like to thank Annette Jones for all the kindly and helpful and help me by introducing me to three awesome doctors that two of them I already seen and one more to see , Dr. Frank Lin, Alan G. Lossing, MD FRCSC , Dr John Randle orthopedic surgeon , well thank you Southlake for having thy best board committee and Doctors and nurse that make you feel important thank you!

I had a wonderful nurse who would return messages within an hour or two. Nurse Reese was amazing. And my doctor was wonderful. She took the time. To listen to all of my countless questions and concerns and answered every single one of them. She was wonderful and gave me optimal care. I was also very impressed with the facilities and cleanliness. Stronach Regional Cancer Centre is wonderful.

Rebecca Loughran

Doctor G. Puri is arrogant, rude, disrespectful and lacks compassion. He walked out during my exam. While waiting for an emergency 6+ people placed in a small room with arms basically touching prior to covid testing. You would assume the hospital would get the concept of social distancing. After ten hours I felt worse, I would highly recommend a different hospital. Newmarket should be ashamed.

Sohaib Khalid Sial

Absolutely the WORST emergency experience I've had in Canada. RUDE nurses, apathetic doctor and unhelpful staff. My brother was taken if after a highway accident and no one at the hospital bothered to pay attention. Extremely frustrating and disappointing. Never taking anyone here ever.

J. Cat

My wife gave birth to both of my kids at Southlake and both times she was treated very well. Most recently my mother was a patient at the Stronach Cancer Centre and she too was treated very well. Unfortunately she lost her battle with cancer, they offered so much support to our family in the aftermath. The staff went over and above for my Mom's treatment and we are forever grateful. My family has had good experiences with Southlake and would not think twice about going there for any concerns that may arise.

I see all these negative reviews and wonder if I was just lucky the day my wife had to get a biopsy the place was spotless the receptionist was helpful and friendly her appointment was for 1pm and she was admitted @ 12:50 pm the doctors and nurses treated her with kindness and dignity

I'm not very happy with this hospital. Last night, my wife and I visited the hospital due to an emergency. We waited 4 hours to be told that the Ultrasound department is closed. They booked us to return (and get triaged again) at 8am. When we said we preferred to stay....we were pointed to the waiting room and a recliner. Never again am I going to this hospital ever again.

Nature Girl

Very sad to think this will be our hospital for many years to come. New to Newmarket and this hospital has lots of unexperienced, unprofessional and uncaring staff. But Hey!!! At least some are very friendly right! Anyways...Er doc Chan, seems fresh out of med school and very arrogant. Was there at 33 weeks pregnant with my 4 year old dd who kept on complaining about abdominal pains for 3 days by now...after waiting a long time in a busy narrow crammed hallway called a waiting room...we were finally given a bay. As I stood up to walk there with my dd, I noticed I felt pretty weak and a bit dizzy too. When I got there, sat my dd on the bed and I sat on a stool they had...still not feeling too well, decided to politely ask a nurse near by if I could please have someone just check my sugar level while waiting for doc to come see my dd. The nurse gave me a look like I was bothering him, and also took a while to respond, as if I had asked him something out of this world. He quickly looked down at his paper work and said to me, he will try to see. Not long after, dr. Chan came in. I decided to quickly ask him the same as I had asked the nurse because was still not well. He quickly said...to go to the front and register. I was surprised by his tone of voice and answer. I went on to explain nicely that if I was at all sick when I came in...I would have registered myself as well. He looked at me annoyed, and said, that that's hospital policy and proceedure, that how can I ask him to do anything like that. I said that this is just rediculous because I was not asking him for medication at all...just asking for a simple 3 sec sugar test. He went on to tell laugh at that point and say...please, don't ask anyone else to do this. (Insinuating that I was asking crazy things). At that point I felt very sad that my little dd was sitting there to be seen and had to wait for this non sense to end. I went on to give him a few examples to maybe knock some sense into him, or maybe see if he had a heart. "Dr...if someone to pass out right here because of high blood preassure, would you not check them? Or would you try to wake them up and tell them to go register because you don't even know their name like you said to me. He then smirked and answered: "Well...is that you?" (His exact words, very hard to forget sadly). At that time I decided to give it up simply because me and my dd weren't getting any better and he had time to put me down, refuse to help me, or at least understand me, and seemed like he could go on forever being rude and stern. I left the hospital crying, try to wipe my tears and asked this lady with a shirt saying "How may I help you today?" If she could please tell me what I can do if I have a formal complain about service today...once again...she looked at me kinda lost and didn't know what to answer, so I had to rephrase my self...then said I could go on their site and see there. Was not satisfied with her reply, yet being the loving person I am, said "okay, thank you" and left, on our way out we passed security and was bawling my eyes out by then, and asked again about how I can place a complaint...one out of 3 guys in there knew exactly what to say. He even gave me the hours of operation and that I can call and ask for guest relations. I left time pass and still haven't had time or energy to call in to guest relations...super pregnant now and still battleling the sickness of gestational diabetes as well...but this is not a matter that will just let go off that easy. I need to find out if why this doc treated me in this way.

Came to the emergency department with the eye problem. The eye was swollen, red, lacked lubrication and the swelling was spreading on the surrounding tissues. After spending hours, the doctor has finally showed up. Not even looking at my eye he sent me to the plastic surgeon!??? I am not going to modify my face! No treatment, no advice on how to diminish the suffering. The waiting time - 3 hours, appointment time - 1 minute. I am desperate and have no idea what to do. This is where my taxes go. The college of physicians and surgeons is the last hope.

I was misdiagnosed with a 25 day migraine when in reality I had a massive blood clot in my brain at age 14. Stayed on the paediatric floor for 4 days until they sent me home still with a “migraine". Finally went to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and was diagnosed with this massive blood clot. Almost suffered a stroke which could have been caught by Southlake doctors... I genuinely think no one believed the pain I was going through and just tried to avoid diagnosis with medication.

Lori Heath

Stronach Cancer Clinic is awesome!

Thanks to Crystal the Triage Nurse, Dr Somer and sorry but I didn't catch the name of the nurse in the emerg that helped me. I felt cared for fully and in capable hands on my visit. People need to understand that our government cut many things and that sometimes your pain is not as life threatening as it feels. Be patient have a nap they will wake you. If you went to the hospital you have time. You are in pain if you weren't you would have went to work. Trust me I have had insensitive Dr's there too, but I want to think they are just tired at the end if their shift after a busy day.

Sawsan Elshafey

I had been hospitalised in Mental Health for about two weeks and everything is good and organised well there, nurses are nice and psychiatrists are excellent in particular Dr. Stokl is a perfect professional one who has patience and experience and listen to his patients precisely and knows well his tools.

Joe Quartarone

This is the worse place to take any of your family members missed diagnosed my 2 year old son two times after I had taken him three times my poor guy hates doctors now... .poorly run facilities no room the emergency room and fast track or any of the other place's they send you..I will never be returning here again!

Mark Wan

Emergency room Is full of careless soulless degenerates. I come here with Rhabdomyolysis I knew i needed an IV but the nurses and doctors treated me as if I'm an IV junkie and didn't want to waste a 5 cent bag of salt water. Took four hours to get an IV and diagnose me whith the same condition I told the triage nurses and doctors. I am in emense pain and they are refusing to give me pain medication. I regret paying a penny to taxes. I have been admitted for a day and haven't gotten fed even though my neighboring beds have. The doctor gave me an anxiety attack and told me I don't need protein. After he gave me an anxiety attack he did not give me medication for five hours.

Elnaz Ghafoori

Visited emergency once and I have to say despite the old look of the department people are so efficient and knowledgeable here! Had a short waiting time, doctor and nurse were friendly.

Ghulam Butt

From Emergency reception to doctors’ meeting, it was above expectations experience. Highly professional staff including an ambassador who took care of emergency parking as well.

Cameron Compton

This hospital is pretty good for a hospital, my moms work here and she always told me good things about this place. Besides most complaints a this place are people complaining about waiting times and cleanliness which are things that are hard to prevent especially for a hospital.10/10 place

Sofie Jin

Staff were friendly, got bloodwork done quickly. There was absolutely no pain at all, and was quick. There's even a Subway in here! Checkups weren't something to hate either.

I am very impressed about the way I was helped yesterday in the emergency room of Southlake Hospital. I walked in (well, limped in) after a mountainbike incident. The emergency staff were all very friendly and professional. It's like a very well oiled machine! I went through intake, saw a triage nurse, a doctor, X-ray specialist and again a doctor and walked out within an hour, while it felt really busy to me at that time. Luckily didn't break anything ???? A heartfelt thank you to all that helped me out.

For the second time my experience was poor to say the least. South lake is the worst hospital I have ever had to visit or take a family member to. Twice I was told that I was not allowed into the hospital with my fiancé because the hospital was “full” only to find out afterwards that that was not the case. To add insult to injury this time the emergency registration and triage staff after I left insinuated that I was possibly abusive through the questions my fiancé was asked. So not only does my fiancé have to go through tests and whatever else there alone she also was questioned about her fiancé being abusive. I think the bedside manner of the registration staff and triage nurses is lacking and if given the choice we will never go here again it is an unwelcoming and judgmental place which shows clear bias and a woman my fiancé’s age was allowed in with her person. The only difference being she was also a woman and not someone who would look “abusive”. I am very disappointed that this is supposed to be place of healing and it is nothing but a place of bias judgment and poor professionalism

Ngan Nguyen

The nurse is NOT friendly and UNprofessional. I was in the emergency and the first time in the hospital. She sat and told me to go get number (I didn’t know where I had to go). My kid cried she still sat and pointed at the machine and nobody was there. I had to weigh my kid by myself instead of her. Unprofessional.

Outpatient services are a joke for mental health. It took weeks to get an appt back in November when i visted weeks- attempted contacting multiple times, later got an appt for end of jan. I called to confirm an appointment and over two weeks later STILL NO CALL BACK. They require two business days notice or you pay 300 in fees for not cancelling Well how can I cancel if staff doesnt call back. The voicemail says 72 hours. Meanwhile it always takes longer than that. Very unorganized and unprofessional in my opinion. I should NOT need to call MULTIPLE times to verify info for an appointment to get a response.. better yet call multiple times and get NO REPLY! As usual a fine example of poor mental health services by our government.

Terry Farrell

Food service employees bully patients by withholding food.

Hung Tran

Emergency Nurses are very nice and caring Most doc are good in general, you odd to watch some of drugs pusher doctors, mainly the medicine doctors, this is very dangerous and can cause life with the wrong drugs. I see and believe there are improvements to understand how the body works, i still see a lot of outdated knowledges. Hospital food needed much improvement than mainly loaded with sugar like High Fructose corn syrup, Aspartame etc....

BLUE Brother

South Lake needs to improve on their logistics among themselves. Surgery was scheduled during these Covid times and as a result the patient needs to do a Covid test. However, no one tells you that the surgery must be done within the 96 hour time frame. Covid tester from South Lake contact the patient on the day of the appointment and requested the patient to attend earlier to accommodate staff's schedule. As a result the test was done two hours earlier of the appointment time. During surgery date and at pre-op the patient was informed that the test was not within the 96 hour time frame (98 hours - so arbitrary) and therefore the surgery was cancelled. The Covid testers at the hospital should have known about the 96 hour time frame and were very aware of the surgery date. They caused terrible inconvenience with the patient and several doctors and staff at the hospital. Rescheduling of the surgery, rescheduling the patient's work schedule, cancelling of rental equipment that the patient needed for the healing process and transportation all incurred unnecessary expenses. And... according to the staff at the hospital this is not the first time this had happened. So if anyone has scheduled surgery make sure you are in the 96 hour time frame. Shame on you South Lake for not communicating this rule and for wasting taxpayers money!

Bron Fegan

The staff in the Cardiac Short Stay Unit were amazing, they really took care of me and put my mind at ease. I was especially impressed by Dr Lorne Goldman and Nurse Judy. I'm a lot less worried about my next visit now.

derrick Micheals

Worst. Doctor on this night his diagnosis what not only wrong but a danger to patients Apparently they just give out phds

Emily Mulvihill

Shocked at the bad reviews? The Belinda Stronach Cancer Centre at Southlake is world class! A beautiful facility filled with doctors, nurses and volunteers that care and take time to provide what is needed through treatment. I lost my mom to breast cancer in the summer of 2015 - but in her last year while she was fighting, I was so thankful to have such a wonderful team from Southlake on our side - helping us every step of the way. My mom always looked forward to seeing the care providers here and they treated her with dignity, respect and are incredibly knowledgeable in their practice. In a separate incident I had a family member taken here to emerg and we experienced next to zero wait times and excellent care. I was very happy with the way they handled that situation so quickly and professionally. I would love to see more mental health resources available at this facility. Other than that I definitely say it's a 5 star hospital.

Lisa Star

I only rated a star because I was given no choice!! This hospital & mostly they're emergency doc chan or Chang has almost cost me my life for his ignorance to my needs, and most importantly not even checking me out! When I went to the emergency early 2018 I believe...I have it all written down. I was labeled from the moment I arrived, due to the fact that I do have a psychatrist who also works out of Southlake. I had expressed to the doctor my terrible horrific sufferings, and while telling him what was going on he stood there anxiously waiting for me to hurry up. He had NO bedside manners nor any compassion whatsoever. When I finally hurried to finish because he did not want to hear... he said to me, ' This is all your imagination & you need psychiatric help!" I was completely shocked and confused also so desperate for help but he refused to help me in anyway. Meanwhile I had chunks taken out from my skin all over me and was already diagnosed by another doctor with sand fleas (after spending a week in the sand and on the beach in lake Huron in August 2017) I went home ready to die and things only got worse. Because of what he wrote in his report, every doctor followed suit. Fast forward to now Dec 2018 I was referred to an internal specialist who specializes in Chinese medicine and all kinds of deadly diseases. It turns out, just as I had told the doc at Southlake hospital, that I infact do have very bad parasites who are actually killing me. These parasites literally fly right out of my skin and have killed me both mentally and physically. My only hope is this specialist. And if and when I am better you better believe I an going to take action on bgg this doctor, not just for my sake but for so many who are sufferi such utter horror due to the ignorance of doctors like him. What he did to me was against the law of my rights as a patient and my life is up in the air because I'm not sure if I will make it. But you bet if I don't that my mother will look after that issue for me. We know our own bodies and don't forget that or allow a doctor to treat you the way I have been treated. He should be completely ashamed of himself that I have literally lost over a year of my life because of him.

l nieves

The worst hospital I have ever been. Nurses and doctors are too rude. They treat you like you are garbage! Don't come to this hospital!!!!!

kagsa mc

My son had to be rushed to hospital, couldn't breath was near deaths door. Even though it is extremely busy the doctors and nurses saved my son. brought him back. docs booked him for a follow up appointment with pediatrician, got a call the next day with an appointment in 2 days time. That was the quickest anything has ever been done regarding my experiences with doctors. I was so thankful for them that night. I gave four stars only because the doctors are over worked and they have no place to put patients. So sad actually seeing this.

L Ag

I delivered my little son , and evertthing was amazing . Thank you so much for this adorable experience

Meg S

I don't even know why I bother going to this hospital when every single time myself or my family have either used the ER, NICU or maternity ward has been treated less than and with disrespect. Im utterly disappointed in the lack of support, respect doctors and nurses provided to patients in this hospital. Every year money is raised for this hospital, which is amazing, but something needs to be done about the treatment provided. I will be travelling South and using Mackenzie Health in Richmond hill instead from now on. They even have posters all over with their "mission" for a clean, friendly and respectful environment for their patients. I even recieved a call a few days after my ER visit to ask about my experience. South Lake, please do some changing.

Chris Garvin

Just so people know. Wait times are always longer so they can over charge ohip to make up for the lack of government funding. Been waiting hours for an ultrasound. Arranging and doing an ultrasound at 7 am shouldn't take this long.

Ian B

have been here many times over the years. Nurses in Emergency seem more interested in gossiping then getting any work done most of the time. Once even had a doctor prescribe me anti depressants for chest tightness? really low quality hospital as far as faculty goes.

Simon D Yates

My son got a hold of a prescription cough medicine. I could not get a hold of poison control - on hold for minutes - so I drove to Southlake where they took my son in immediately and kept an eye on him. Fortunately he was fine and did not consume much. The staff were courteous and knew how to work with toddlers. Thanks to everyone for your care.

R G

Wish I could give the place zero stars. An absolute abomination of a hospital. The complete and utter disrespect that they show to patients and their families is shocking. For your sanity's sake, go somewhere else.

Howard Feaver

Had a full knee replacement on March 13 2015 the service i received was simply the very best. I can't say enough about the people that work there.

Sahar Ghassemi

I took my son to the emergency room as he fell down and his leg was broken, the service including x-ray, the nurses who did the cast, they were awful! My son was in so much pain throughout the procedure and we found out that the cast was not done properly so he suffered a lot and we had to change the cast in another hospital next day, this place is just awful and if I had time, I would officially complain about every single person who were involved that day with my son's health. Poor 4 years old went through so much pain due to some non professional.

screaming cat channel

Very outdated facility where you are very likely to contract the flu, cold etc. Everything you have to touch to use the toilet, sink, garbage, hand sanitizer, doors etc. expect to be here 4+ hours wait time but that is normal for a hospital in the GTA. I once sat in an old hallway for over 8 hours before anyone saw me

Lindsey Townsend

When my fiance goes in, in severe pain in his belly, probably from his appendix and then he gets told, that he has to stay until 8:00 a.m., to sit there and wait for an ultrasound, after he's been there since 2:00 in the afternoon!!!! Then not give him dinner or water, to do a urine test, when you finally give him a glass of water at 8:00 p.m. of course he's going to rip his IV out and leave. Trudeau and Ford you have ruined our hospitals!

Linsen Li

Had a COVID-19 test here due to travelling. The test result only have collection date but no result date, which I need both of them. Called them got told to contact public health, really disappointed for the unprofessional. Mackenzie health on the other hand did a better job on the reporting.

This is my second baby with the birthing unit here at Southlake. The only reason I'm giving them a 4* is the delay in care and lack of caring of a new patient coming in. I spent almost 3 hours as the only one in the stress test area, had my water break and still had next to no nurses in helping me/communicating. Once I did reach a great nurse, they did my covid test and finally admitted me. Still took almost 2 hours to have the covid test come back so my partner could enter properly. After that point, my care here was beyond incredible. I need an emergency c section and multiple tests, and they were beyond incredible to be informative about the medicine they were using and procedures about to happen. They took extra care of me due to the situation, communicated as much as they could about my condition. After birth and when things finally settled down, they continued to take extreme care of me until I was back to normal. I am beyond thankful, and highly recommend this birthing unit to other individuals. I do not have any other reviews for any other unit, as I have not previously like this emergency department at all, and when leaving was super surprised at the line up of people to enter.

An Excellent Hospital !!!

Emergeny room is pretty bad. Once I saw a patient collapse and she was struggling to get up and the nurses told her to get up and the lady said she couldn't and they refused to help her up. Another person in the waiting room helped her back up into her chair but the nurses were very rude to her. Also one got annoyed with me for crying when I was in pain.

Twice had labour in this beautiful Hospital and one surgery. I like everything there. Stuff, Design, Big and specious Hospital. Sometimes long waiting time in ER, but comparable to Major Mackenzie Hospital - South Lake is much better!

Dave Reddon

In the case of an emergency, bring a $5000+ donation with you or prepare for a long wait. 12-48 hours to see an actual doctor otherwise (an estimate I've come up with based on the various visits by my own friends and family) It's not uncommon to spend a week or more waiting for treatment and doctor approved discharge. In the case of a previous large donation being mentioned that same wait time decreased to 12-36 hours (the bottleneck in time being a combination of test results coming back and ruling out other medical conditions) It's possible that larger donations would further decrease wait times, but I do not personally know anyone who has made a contribution exceeding $5000. I'm going to rate this at 2 stars rather than 1 simply because it is a great place for those who can afford to have their health taken seriously.

joanne kepic

Very friendly and smiling staff, very clean and excellent team work. Special thank you Dr. Deliallisi and Dr. Cummings and their team, the ambulatory care, Also to all those in the breast clinic at the Medical Arts Building and to the welcome center. What a great hospital!!!

WARNING!!! FOR ANY IMMIGRANTS. They charge 430$ to sign up for the covid test. These people are out to make money off of you. Make sure to go somwhere they dont charge for a registration just to get a free covid test. very irresponsible especially when we need to come together to help each other out. GO TO 555 Finch Ave W, North York, ON M2R 1N5 BRANSON HOSPITAL. i had it done for free how its suppose to be. who knows how many people they scammed.

Went into the hospital at 7pm yesterday night with severe vomiting while being 5 months pregnant. Nurses were great, got all blood work and ultrasound done within the hour. They then told me they at results an hour later, we then waited for the doctor for 3 HOURS to come back to give results. We saw him walk by the room multiple times without stopping to give the results so we can be discharged. The nurse was trying her best to get him there and still there was nothing, at midnight we walked out of the hospital with NO RESULTS only to find out the next day that everything was fine. It would have taken all of 1 minute to read us the result to put our minds at ease and get us out of the hospital. To have all these patients waiting, young and old is unacceptable for 3 HOURS. The only reason it is getting 2 stars is because the nursing staff was excellent, but this doctor should not be able to practice at this hospital if he is going to treat patients like this.

Do not go to this ER. Went in after getting my foot crushed by a spooked horse with extreme pain and swelling. Entered at 8.45 am. Was not able to get a wheelchair to get around. X rays at 9.28 am. Still no wheelchair. Get sent back to the little waiting room wich is full of people coughing and crying. Refused to sit in there. Still no wheelchair . Nurse takes my file and wonders off with it at 10am. Ask about my file at 10.15am. Get told I'm supposed to be over at Fast Track. Still no wheelchair. Get quickly looked at by doc and observer in the hallway at 11.45am. Decides to send me for CT scan. 1pm, I ask if it will be much longer of a wait. Told it will be a few hours. I finally gave up and told them I was leaving. That is when another doctor walked by and finally offered me a wheelchair. They have booked me an appointment at the fracture clinic for monday the 16th. So in other words, fend for yourself for 5 days. Never offered anything for the pain I was in and still am in. This place is a zoo. 1 doctor for the entire ER. Old folks in delirious states fighting and screaming. Police coming in steady with rowdy patients. AC is on full blast, so you don't feel your body anymore. Patients with suspected Covid getting tested right in the hallway. DO NOT GO HERE.

I was admitted to the emergency room last night, and the care i received there ran the entire range between amazing and abhorrent. the nurse who was mainly attending to me, Andria, was very patient and kind. i have pretty severe anxiety and am not used to going to the hospital alone and as such was crying quite a bit. still, she was very patient. her waiting room pod was full, so she instructed me to wait in one of the chairs by the nurses' stand while i finished my iv. i was still crying while i sat down there, and a lovely LOVELY nurse named Hamideh was very kind and offered to get me a warm blanket. i'm not exaggerating when i say that i nearly started crying harder because of how kind she was. HOWEVER, not all of the nurses were nearly as pleasant as Andria and Hamideh. Two nurses (or as i later learned, one nurse and one nurse trainee) called Jennifer and Stephanie were openly mocking me. Stephanie (the trainee) specifically said "I have no empathy. I don't know if she sat herself there so everyone could see her cry, but I just don't care. Like what does she want me to do?" Perhaps your job, Stephanie? This instantly made me feel less safe in the care I was receiving. While I really do want to emphasize the terrific care I received from Andria and Hamideh, I can't let Jennifer and Stephanie's horrid treatment slide. I desperately hope that the two of them learn some empathy if they want to be medical professionals, or at the very least not to loudly mock patients who are within earshot.

Clean facility. As efficient as possible service. Caring nurses, doctor and surgeons. Overall we are lucky to have such an amazing hospital!

Liv3andLove

Terrible. See Facebook for full length terrible review.

Behrooz R.Azari

On my visit to emergency department. Staff were very helpful and nice. The Doctor was not in a good temper. Dr. ED Chan even did not allow me to finish my sentences. He did nothing about my main reason of referring to emergency that was pain. This is against all medical teachings. His physical examination was careless and painful !!

Rey Nemati

The worst hospital in Ontario. They don't care about their patients. Severely underfunded. Overcrowded. Horrible service. You'll leave with more issues than when you got there. It's worth the drive to skip town and go somewhere else.

Janett Brown

Very caring, fast efficient.

Is there an explanation as to why the mental health unit only has one line, and it has been ‘busy’ for over an hour? I have called over 200 times to someone expecting a phone call from me. How many more people in your mental health unit are expecting and anticipating phone calls and are unable to speak with loved ones? Is it little more than a detainment centre to you guys? Or are your staff tying up the lines? What is the explanation for this? This is absolutely egregious.

Recently I had a potentially cancerous tumour surgically removed from my stomach and spent four days in the SAC unit. I would like to thank all of the nurses in the SAC unit for the exceptional care I received. I would also like to express my huge gratitude for Dr. Toth and his team at York Thoracic Surgery. After being diagnosed with the tumour I was sent to Dr. Toth to manage my care. I immediately felt I was in very capable hands. Dr. Toth and his team were exceptionally thorough with all aspects of my diagnostic procedures, surgery and post care. With all the negativity lately, I just want to say I feel very blessed to live in Canada and have received all of this care.

Misdiagnosed my husband pretty badly. Said he had syncope and needed a pacemaker after he had a seizure. None of the residents or doctors would have a conversation when we questioned this. When I took him to Sunnybrook six weeks later, we found out my husband has brain cancer. I wish there was an emoji to express my sentiments towards Southlake. Terrible hospital!

It is been long time that I have allergy and sometimes I have to go to emergency , everywhere I have been so far ( I mean emergency room ) it was taken as a serious emergency case and they helped me but when I had allergy reaction with hives all over my body I was accepted as regular patient and was waiting long time to be seen by doctor and he advised taking cold shower and I was discharged from hospital without any medication , in hour since my allergy got worse I went to NYGH and they were professional to know how to deal with allergy reactions . And for me as a patient who suffers allergy almost 20 years and several times I was taken to hospital in emergency condition like shock , it was the first time that I had allergy reaction and went to nearest hospital and was told " Take cold shower " and discharged !!!!

Had my kid here that area of hospital nwas great, but just came to emergency with chest infection going on 4 hours docters and nurses spend more time talking then actually working have some respect for the sick

Stay away from this hospital as much as you can! Specially if you have little ones! THEY ARE HORRIBLE with kids. And I say that based of a few visits not just one!

For quick healthcare, this hospital doesn't seem to cut it. I've had severe bloody noses in the past and I have taken multiple visits to this hospital to figure out a solution to this dilemma. Whenever I had visited, all they did was hand me a tube of polysporin and suggested that I inject this into my nose through the use of a syringe. Although that did help prevent the problem for some time, am I going to continuously insert this antibiotic into my nostrils to prevent bleeding for years to come? Absolutely not. Thankfully, I've visited again, and they've recommended me to a nasal specialist for an appointment which was to take place in this month, until I had received a call stating that it had to be postponed all the way to June. This appointment had been made back in March where I have to wait a MONTH (that's right, a month of day-to-day polysporin injections into my nostrils, I guess..) to even communicate with this doctor. Overall, it's one heck of a garbage hospital that seems to give off the impression that it does not care much for it's patients no matter how severe the issue may be.

This is not a hospital. It's a joke. I went in with possible symptoms of heart trouble ( it runs in my family) and 3 hours later not a test, blood work, or thing was done. I was promised an ecg and blood work but never happened. I ended up discharging myself. I would rather take a chance and have an ambulance take me back from my home..... Maybe then they will.take these things seriously. I guess you have to wait to have the heart attack before the give a damn. Also, they do not follow protocols like wiping down the equipment in between patients. There were people puking where they take blood and no one changed the paper slip sheet or wiped down the chair after people who were clearly I'll lay there. Gross.

I just wanted to share my experience after visiting this hospital 3 times over 2 years! I never thought that I would say it but everytime i was there was great (as much as possible in terms of visiting a hospital) doctors and nurses were super nice, positive with good vibes and for me it is the first thing that matters, when I am scared I need to see someone who will smile to me and everyone in this hospital does it! Thank you dear Doctors and technicians and nurses for doing this amazing and hard work and being there for us! Dr Mac, Irina technician, Deb nurse :)

In the last few years I have had need of the SRHC on at least 3 occasions. My care was exceptional each time. I am grateful to have access to this wonderful hospital.

Look how many 1 stars you have. Went to the hand clinic for an appointment where the woman told me to go to the welcome desk first. So what is the purpose of the receptionist in the hand clinic? Seems like her job is redundant and could be done all in one at the welcome desk. Maybe but yes. Dont hire more nurses instead keep useless receptionists with poor manners.

Tim Brittain

At least the guy at Subway is competent at his job.

This is the worst hospital I’ve ever been to my entire life. They make you wait hours and hours ,they don’t address your concerns properly, the doctor spends five seconds with you. They don’t even check your blood pressure ,they just don’t seem like they care ,you could be on your deathbed ,and you would rather not go to the hospital. Terrible

Forough Bikmohammadi-Hazaveh

Emergency reception is horrible and the rude nurses don't care if the patient is dying. The whole "emergency" concept is not understood in Canadian culture and you feel like you go to a hospital in Africa when you enter the emergency area. You wish you never get sick in Canada other wise "free" healthcare might give you a "free ticket" to the other life.

Afrouz Bahrami

This 5 stars is only for an amazing nurse ( his name was Abdul ) I had a very bad situation back on June this year and I’ve been back and forth to this hospital for 3 night and he was the only caring nurses that I’ve met for those nights... special thanks to him again ????????

My mom is in hospital for fluctuating BP since 28aug 19. Till today nothing is diagnosed. It's pathetic system you cannot transfer to different facilities. Never ever do mistake of taking your loved ones ...unless you and them will be in distress . My humble request for everyone is abandon Southlake hospital for your loved ones. Thank you

Nurses I dealt with were a class act and doctors. Nurse with dread locks is awesome thanks so so so much... Even the volunteers and security the hole team there. Thank you. Was not fun only due to my illness. But staff was great and helpful. Thanks to er staff... people need to realize it's not an easy job they do. So treat them with respect... Karma... ????????????

The doc I seen here was terrible. He didn't sit me down when i even explained that I was dizzy & in pain from blood loss. He told me to take the gauze off my finger to show him the cut. I told him I couldn't take it off myself as it's extremely painful. He then sent me for an X-ray, told me my bone wasn't fractured and that was it! All the while standing in the middle of a hallway. He Didn't explain any type of after care, didn't check for infection, didn't even examine it. I had to go back to the walk in clinic doctor who told me to go to a hospital in the first place, and he gave me antibiotics as it is infected. He explained the after care as well. I've been to much nicer hospitals and I won't be going back to this one EVER and if I could give a negative star I would.

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer & we spent a lot of time here. Nurses in the ER are miserable. Annoyed to help people. Speak extremely condescending & rude. Unbelievable that they work in a health care system. I have never been more surprised or disgusted the way I’ve been spoken to, especially by a health care nurse, working in an ER??? Absolutely floored. Others around us were shocked as well. Sitting behind the glass ignoring people, only assisting when people would walk up and knock on the glass and interrupt a conversation. Hire people who are inspired to help. Doctors have been good for the most part. However some we have had over the time period seemed like they had no idea what was happening with their patients. Asking ridiculous questions that is on his chart and relying on our answers for next steps, replying with ‘I’m not sure’ and ‘oh, I don’t know’ for many things that are CRUCIAL to his health and treatment. Understanding they have a lot of patients, it’s still unacceptable to walk in blind, and not be aware of your patients in a cancer center. Leaves very little trust, and respect for our health care system. Nurses take no responsibility, constantly blaming others for mistakes. Asking us to make sure that the next nurse does a procedure properly, and to ensure details are done correctly. This is NOT our job. This is theirs. We don’t need to offend a nurse by telling them how to do their jobs — we also shouldn’t have to tell a trained nurse, dealing with a life how to do their job. In short, there are a lot of great nurses and doctors here. However, our experience was not the best. Horrifyingly disrespectful nurses. Do not deserve jobs here.

Lynn Whitcombe

The accounting department should be fired. They dont follow procedure. Please nobody pay anything over over the phone. They are all lairs in the accounting department.

Went in with an emergency case of appendicitis at 5 pm. Was triaged and sent in. By 7 I met with two doctors and a surgeon which decided I need surgery. Went in the OR around 10 and discharged the morning after. Everybody from the front desk to all nurses and staff and OR personnel and my doctors were very kind and pleasent. Felt really taken care of. Thank you Southlake, and shout out to my excellent surgeon Dr. Deliallisi and her team!

The emergency was super super super slow.... Last week I cut my finger with a saw and went to emergency at 10 AM. My finger was blooding a lot, and my pain was 15 out of 10, but they told me my case is not an emergency and I have to wait! The reception desks were super slow to sign in the patients, and I was waiting in line for more than 55 mins!!! I asked the staff and nurses for a painkiller more than 10 times, but they said you don't need it! After about 2 hrs, I finally could see the doctor, and he gave me 3 painkillers altogether! My finger had 27 stitches!

Great experience at this hospital’s ER. Very efficient and helpful friendly staff.

I have been going to southlake cancer center for 10 years and after seeing the negative comments i felt it necessary to share my experience. I have nothing but positives to say about "my family" at southlake from my oncologist Dr Rahim to all the fantastic people in the lab and everyone in that hospital.

Michael Van Delft

The child mental health center is horrible. They treated me horribly. When I was crying they told me to grow up and sent me to my room when I needed someone to talk to. They limit your phone calls witch is something no other mental health place did. heather if your reading this you should know that you suck at your job. heather told me I was not allowed to cry.

I am a little concerned as to why my information was accessed by a crisis worker at this hospital when I was not the patient, I was just written down as an emergency contact for someone. The crisis worker for the patient decided to access my entire file and information including bringing up confidential things from my past (10 years ago!) to the patient. If your name is placed as emergency contact, that should be for calling purposes ONLY. I did not give consent for my info to be accessed. I was not even present! The patient was able to tell me my entire life story... this is NOT okay. I am not impressed that the Privacy Act has been broken. I will be filing a formal complaint, this is against the rights of my Confidentiality.

I was transferred to this hospital from the Orillia hospital so I could have a paricardial drain because I had fluid around my heart. The staff here are so nice and made me feel as comfortable as possible, despite the situation. The night I was admitted I came in around 12 at night and the male nurse working brought me toast with peanut butter, which was greatly appreciated. the Other nurses I had were very nice and caring as well. Especially Jenna and Stacy, who went above and beyond for me. At this hospital I was also able to have my dialysis done right in my private room, as they have mobile dialysis machines. This hospital definitely saved my life.

Our family has been to Southlake many of times recently and we have much respect for their staff. These future times that are ahead of us in healthcare in Ontario are going to be challenging. The correlation between population growth and healthcare funding is not proportional. This is what Ontarians are up against. For those that complain about the speed/quality of service when you are in pain. It is understandable. But remember that they are human and are doing the best they can. If just one person reads this and says, ok I'll just be quiet and let the staff work rather than griping about speed and service; I will be satisfied. Our family received execptional care from this hospital. Thank you very much.

Jordan

This hospital is very unprofessional and uncaring. I came here 3 times in 2 months and waited for hours to get results. The last time I came here the doctor looked at me like I was on drugs. The sad part is a crisis worker had to tell me I was being discharged because the ER doctor was to busy doing something else when I had questions. Never will I come here again.

I personally have always had wonderful experiences at South Lake. All 3 of my children have been born there and I have had to have them all by C-section. The staff, nurses, Doctors have all bin so good to me. I will ONLY use southlake as my hospital. 2 Of my children also needed to be in the NICU after birth. The NICU nurses were so kind, understanding and helpful. They made a very emotional experience a little better. Thank you south Lake!

Southlake Regional Health Centre is a full-service hospital with a regional, clinically advanced focus. Southlake offers almost 400 patient beds and accommodates more than 110,000 visits to the Emergency Department, 30,000 in-patient admissions, and 530,000 out-patient visits each year. As a regionally designated site, Southlake is responsible for developing and providing advanced levels of care to the more than 1 million people who reside in York Region, Simcoe County, and in some cases, as far north as Muskoka.

Had medical emergency that required emergency surgery. From ER to surgical unit could not ask for better care. Courteous, knowledgable, professional and empathatic are just a few words that come to mind to describe the staff, both nursing and physicians. The building is in desparate need of paint, window repairs, generalized deep clean etc. It is showing it's age.

Some staff are very helpful and take the initiative to ask if they can help. However, some are not. Information sent me to welcome center, welcome center said I should check with information, when i said that information sent me there, the staff said she couldn't easily give out information, that i understood, as the patient should be there to ask for that. I was there to ask where the patient would be, come on. So unhelpful. Not friendly, not willing to help, that's what i can say. "Thank you" was not what i would say but i said it asi wanna be polite and give my respect, not the staff there.

Was in hospital Nov 13. To 15th. Emergency then rapid assessment I can't say enough to thank thank the nurses and doctors who looked after me as well as follow-up at home.ade .Made a very bad experience good.

This review is written with mixed opinions the mix is the people. As with most places and people we deal with you will always find a bad apple in every bunch, many of the nurses and Dr here are good some are even beyond exceptional but in a hospital it only takes one bad apple to cause greater risk to life or injury. As a patient here at the moment I was woken up to the sound of a IV alarm (loud beep beep over and over again) at 5:50 am. I got up and went to the washroom, as I went past my door I noticed a care giver sitting on a chair just out side our door tapping on her phone. I waited until 6:10 and looked out of the door, she was still sitting there with her phone at which time I asked her if she was going to ignore this alarm for another 20 minutes I got a disgusted look from her as I waited for her to start to move she shut off the alarm and strolled off down the hall. 5 minutes later the alarm was going off again I waited 5 more minutes then I went down the hall to the nurse's station to see if I could hear the alarm, and I could easily hear it myself from the station so that is not an excuse for it to keep going on and on. I again asked if someone was going to check the alarm and again one came to the room and shut it off. Again 5 minutes later the alarm went off (getting to be very annoying sound) this time I looked at the IV machine to see if there was a message about the alarm it said air detected ( possible embolism situation) again I complained about the lack of response and asked to have the machine checked finally after a hour they fixed the air problem. In the week I have been here I have noticed other rudeness as well as verbal abuse to to my roommate. Although I don't like to be a finger pointer I feel that you could use my experience of one issue. Again I wish to convey that not all of the staff is bad, some of the girls are awesome but...

Dave C

Fracture clinic is a zoo - far too many people waiting to be seen. Medical technicians don't follow Dr's instructions and cut you loose without doing anything. You wait for hours to see these people and you get minimal medical services. Parking fees are exhorbitant.

Julia Mcadam

oppsies were made.

Hit and miss at Southlake. If you manage to get in early in the morning, it's actually pretty quick. Anything during the day and you better cancel any other plans you've got. Sometimes it feels like they're just trying to get the max parking out of you.

Sipp J

Worst place I’ve ever been to. Got sent in here for crisis counseling, waited for 5 hours, and the staff keeps lying to me that I’m the next patient. Also, the nurses are incredibly rude, one shouting at my mom to be patient after she asked when my appointment would be. It was only a question, and by then it had been 3 hours. 2 hours later and the nurses are still pathological liars who have told me I’m the next patient. Don’t go to this hospital, the staff here suck and the service is terrible.

Matthew Weaver

Very Good!

Mike Wakunick

My experience at Southlake was absolutely amazing. I just had surgery there yesterday and I found that between the Welcome Centre, Surgical Admissions, Interview w/ Nurse & actually getting prepped for surgery they worked very efficiently together and there was very little wait time. We arrived at 6am to check in, and surgery started at 8am as scheduled. Very impressed with the level of service - have never experienced this at a hospital before.

I want to give my appreciation and thanks to Phoebe and Lori the 2 amazing emergency nurses????. They were extremely kind, caring and sent from heaven. I was in so much pain and discomfort they treated me with the care that you expect from a hospital ????. If I could I would of given them a big hug ????. I was there Sunday morning March 28th I left hours later but that's to be expected but it didn't feel that way because of the care that I received. Lori and Phoebe if you read this keep up the kindness trust me we appreciate everything you do. I know I do ❤ Thank you Kimberley ????

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. My mother went in for open heart surgery and right from the get go it was an awful experience and it just got worse. A majority of staff and nurses at this hospital are rude, have an attitude and don't care about the patients at all. One nurse was down right neglectful, we couldn't get my mother out of here fast enough and don't even try to put in a compliant because they will get defensive and try to make it the patients fault. All I can say is DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR LOVE ONES HERE.

Jennifer Marisette

The WORST experience. Would never go back. On Sunday December the 16th I took my 5 month old infant to ER because her breathing seemed laboured and her cough was getting progressively worse throughout the evening. It was between 10pm-10:30pm when I checked into triage and registration, then proceeded into the inner waiting room. I waited there with my 5 month old along with many other people which was fine. But you would think they would try to expedite the process for an infant, but it was the complete opposite!! I waited there longer than people who had come after me. Then a nurse finally said "is there a ______ _______ here?" I was so disappointed when she came and told me they had LOST my baby's chart. She then asked ME where I put it. So I told her I left it in the top wall bin where it was supposed to go. She then disappeared for a long while. I was growing anxious as I saw many more people go through that came after us. So I got up and asked another staff member what happened to my babys chart and when our spot in line was. He told me "Oh! I know what happened to your chart...... the nurse went to go make a new one". You can imagine how disappointed I was at this point because we had waited so long only to be made to wait even longer because of a lost chart! Finally after 30-40mins later the nurse brought back a new chart and I met with the doctor who told me that my baby had croup. He told me she needed a drop of steroid medicine and that they would do this quickly so we could go home. So then we were sent back into the waiting room. Again, after some time a nurse who was wearing a vest labeled "Emergency" came with a some medicine and asked me "oh is this for your baby? Do you have some juice for the baby?" (This was to dilute the medicine taste to give to a child.) I told her.... "no my child is only breastfed, I do not have juice, she only drinks milk not even a bottle" remember my baby is only 5 months old. She seemed confused and again disappeared for about 20-30 mins. I was getting exhausted at this point holding my baby so I got up again and asked another nurse where the nurse with the vest and medicine had gone. This nurse told me she is in the room getting it ready and that they have to make sure to give right dose etc. Ok so I wait and see the nurse with vest on come out and tend to another person with bloodwork. At around 1:30AM I track her down and ask her where the medicine is. She told me "oh we are waiting for some juice to mix the medicine with so we can give it to her"...... UM hello I told you she does not drink juice?! She then asks me how old the baby is and I told her 5 months old! She does not drink juice and does not know how to use a CUP or bottle!! She is breastfed. I ask her to just give the baby the medicine from the syringe and the nurse says OK. She took me to a room and handed me the medicine. I asked her if I should be the one giving it to her since the doctor had told me they would administer it for me. She responded coldly "YEA, YOU'RE the mother". "Have you given her tylenol? SAME THING." .... I was almost in tears. She took the medicine gave it to the baby and started leaving and didnt even turn back or say anything. She was incredibly rude and the worst nurse ever. The whole staff who tended to me with the exception of the nice doctor, were unprofessional, cold, and rude. I would NEVER go back to this hospital and highly recommend others to go elsewhere, such as Markham Stouffville (much friendlier and competent nurses).

Michael Christian

Lack of compassion no communication poor professionalism doctors and nurses do your job that tax payers money pay your salary cutting corners for the less amount of work should be ashamed pure incompetents!!!!!!!

Rania Iaccino

Terrible for taking you in on time for a CT scan, I've been to other hospitals where they are totally on time

Rob W

August 29th I went to the ER. The service was very reasonably quick, extremely professional from the time I walked in to the final handshake and words of encouragement from Dr.Lau. Dealing with the public is extremely challenging and these people handled it very nicely. Hats off to all involved that day and congratulations to Southlake for acquiring such people. Thank you very much. Robert White

Reza Zevari

Terrible place, sorry... I usually don't write such reviews but this hospital and the way how the nurses treat my wife last week left no room to say otherwise. My wife had to go to ER for sever pain that she was suffering on her legs and was crying out of that, however the nurses treat her not a human way!!!

Aakash Shah

If you want to save your loved ones' go elsewhere - this hospital is an abomination to the Canadian healthcare system.

Enrico Sacchetti

I've had good experiences here. The cardiology unit is particularly good (best in the region, I presume), and their emergency centre for fractures is speedy, and compassionate.

Victor Schmidlin

Went twice to the emergency with one of my kids having respiratory problems. All the staff was super attentive, both in the emergency and in the paediatric areas. Keep up the good work!

Galina Sotnikov

Emergency department is just useless, I waited my blood and urine test for 5 hours and for doctor to read those results - 9 hours. Test results was not transferred to my family doctor, because they lost it. Who needs this kind of "emergency"?

Moojan Asgari

Came here at 8:00pm, my sister was feeling severe pain in her lower abdomen. We were told that It's most likely her Appendix but they don't have Ultrasound after 8.

Absolute a joke of an emergency room. Social medicne at it's best?

Fred Novack

Looked after my son well

Just went to this hospital and there is no doubt we are not welcome at this hospital.

Was pretty good

SHOULD BE SUED FOR MISDIAGNOSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been here MANY times for various reasons (injuries, surgery complications - surgery NOT performed here, illness, but mostly injuries of some sort). Emergency wait hours have never been that bad, and the staff are attentive but also limited in what they can offer before you're seen by a doctor. Understandable. The one instance I arrived with severe vomiting and pain, was administered morphine but NOT ALLOWED TO LIE DOWN. I have a known and documented sensitivity to morphine and it causes my blood pressure to drop very quickly, and causes me to vomit non-stop. I was forced to stay in a wheelchair which caused even more nausea and continued vomiting. I was so desperate that I locked myself in the bathroom and laid down on the floor. AS PER GUIDELINES - THE HOSPITAL MUST ALLOW YOU TO LIE DOWN ESPECIALLY AFTER ADMINISTERING MORPHINE. I had filed a complaint and followed up several times with ZERO response. The nurses that day were horrid and there were half a dozen empty beds. I needed maybe 10-15 minutes and I would've been fine to leave after, but they prolonged my suffering for HOURS and subsequently clogged up the ER unnecessarily by simply not allowing someone WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO LAY DOWN, do so.

Megs 1205

They are always bUsy but that's expected for such a large hospital, the wait for certain things was long, but the doctors and nurses and staff were very good and made you feel comfortable

The weekend before last I woke up a little after 4 am with chest pain. After my knowledgeable and perceptive spouse took charge (allowing that it wasn't just gas) and got me to M-S emergency quickly , the efficient and effective diagnosis and action by the emergency team there had me transported to SouthLake Cardio in less than half an hour. There, the ambulance team delivered me directly to the PCI unit where Dr. Plante and team determined then solved an occluded artery via Angioplasty and Stent in minutes. This was followed by 2+ days of recovery care and assessment. A shout out to Sam and Lindsay -- two exceptional folks within an array of outstanding health care professionals who (from this lay person's perspective) do outstanding work. Although from observation over the 2+ days the scarce human and physical resources appear stretched to the limit, we are yet blessed with outstanding health care in Canada. The individual and interconnected effectiveness of the teams and their dedication to excellence was ever present, including receiving a phone call from our family physician (Dr. Sampson) minutes after arriving home from hospital to manage ongoing follow up. Up late the evening before the event preparing to file taxes (unsure of any direct cause & effect) I'm now heartily convinced that we must provide the allocation to health care required to more than maintain but continue to grow what must be a global leadership position in healthcare. What might have been a significant medical event a couple decades ago (and in other places still is) is now a relatively routine procedure here (albeit with strategic resourcing and solid post process and support). Demographics suggest the need will only grow near term. So hug a health care professional today ... well at least thank them and support governments that make health care a priority by taking effective action in support of them.

Shahbaz Makouei

All staffs, nurses, doctors are very friendly and helpful, I had stress test today, all of them treat and lead very well, thank you so much

This is back in 2010, July 23ed to the 25th or 26th. At 11:50 am on the 24th of July I had a BEAUTIFUL little girl, I was 16. I had a c-section I was in SO much pain at 1am ish in room 40312 she woke up, I rang that bell you ring for help and I believe I pushed that botton 7 times because I needed help getting up to feed and change my daughter. 9th time I rang it nurse picked up and before I could even say anything she said grow up and feed your baby you lazy child. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! First of all I did not have sex willingly, i was an A-B student and Loved going to school, started applying to jobs to save for collage, a man 6 years older then me grabbed me on my walk home . That's as much as I am willing to say. So I did not plan for that . Mind you 8 years later I still love her with my every fiber in my body and could never see my life without her , mommy will ALWAYS take care of her! How dare you say something so mean. That has stuck with me for 8 years, how dare you judge a complete stranger. You are a nurse! You are suspose to be kind to others and help them, that's your job!!! I did NOT want help to take care of MY infant. I just needed help to get UP! I honestly pray you are no longer a nurse. I also pray you have not been around any young lady's who have had children at young age .. planning or not. Also on an other note they told me i had to pay for tv, i didn't care for tv but when they knew I was leaving they told me i get day of tv. Although they knew I was out in 10 minute... Besides that I had a WONDERFUL nurse for my first morning there. Her name was Doctor Balogh . Doctor Balogh, thank you, thank you so much for treating me so kindly and pushed me to walk more to get better so I and my baby girl could go home, thank you for taking you're time with me best doctor I've had . Ever! My daughter will know of you and for delivering her♡.

I have had nothing but trouble last night I was given IV by ambulance they the nurses left it in now my vein is huge and sore I have to go back but not there it's scary my name is LEZZLIE SMALL

Please, please if you have any other options for mental health do not go to this hospital's crisis counselling centre. I'm going to recount my experience in detail through text and continue in the picture option and hope it's enough to convince anyone to get help elsewhere if they can - even a help phone number is better than this hospital's crisis counselling centre. Please, for your own well-being do not go here FOR ANYTHING related to mental illness. There was no private rooms for crisis counselling and they put me in a room without my mom and dad who came with me for support with four other people struggling with suicidal tendencies. It broke my heart to see how they were being treated. An old lady was sitting in one corner silently crying as her arm bled. I heard her ask the janitor for some food or someone to talk to that she'd been there since 6am, and she just cut her off and told her someone would be there shortly. There was another lady 6 months pregnant alone in the other corner, and then a guy about my age (23) doing push ups just to distract himself. Across from us was a giant window where for thirty minutes 3 secretaries and 2 psychologists (I read their badges) sat around laughing and joking around and ignoring four people for about half an hour. I was so disgusted with how the other people were being treated I immediately called my mom and told her I didn't feel good about the place. I told her exactly everything they were doing that was wrong loud enough for the other patients to hear and stared through the glass at the staff SUDDENLY aware of people sitting in the room opposite of them so they knew that I knew what they were doing was wrong and illegal. Immediately they sent someone out to see the old lady that had been there since 6am. So I decided to wait a little longer, hoping that me showing I know what crisis counselling is and helping that old lady get someone to talk to would improve things. It did not.

I took my wife to the hospital on Monday the 10th / August 2020 around 8.30pm,entering the emergency door was asked why we came (a young lady staff namely Reem was not helpful at all ) I was asked to stay put since Covid 19 so I was sitting outside of the building for good 6and half hours. Trying to get some answers in this time I tryied several attempts to know what's going on but all these times got no positive answers she tells me that she doesn't have any idea and also told me she has no access to the computer so she can't tell me anything so I asked her to find out for me. She saying she can't. As a senior citizen and at this time in the night were to go since my home is 50km away from south lake hospital. My concern is this kind of staff's are unacceptable to be on the front door of emergency. In place of helping people giving mone stress. Hope who ever reads the reviews will surely understand. The hospital is very good but staff like this young lady is unacceptable.

Poor ER service: My wife was admitted to ER after a serious head-on collision. She was brought in by ambulance with neck and back immobilized. I got there 45 minutes later, she was still in a cell all by herself the entire time. I called the nurse and to have a doctor look at her, she said that we will have to wait, but we are next. The doctor showed up 15 minutes later - this is now 1 hour after she had been admitted . The ER doctor was quick to examine her, but was hesitant to request any imaging work up except for ordering few but not complete x-rays. I had to push for an ultrasound to rule out organ rupture. They should have done an echocardiogram to rule out cardiac contusion. They did not even treat the wounds that she had sustained from the accident. They just wanted us out of there fast. Before we left, she was still complaining of other injured body parts that was not addressed during the examination, and later, just before she was discharged, they decided to do an x-ray to rule out a fracture. She was discharged with medications that were not adequate for pain control. We were not impressed with the service at all, despite other ratings that deem the hospital as satisfactory. Aside from our dissatisfaction, this experience may be also be a result of doctor cutbacks and conservative, leading to poor, patient-care.

we delivered our baby boy on Dec 06.I would like to give 5 stars to our nurse Erika.F , she is so nice with such kind of paticent to explain all necessary details to us. She is also very professional helping us successfully delivered our baby. Really appreciate.

The staff and paramedics were very helpful when I reacted to the second dose of Pfizer vaccine. A lot of dedication, compassion and understanding showed.

Heidi Hamrahi

A close family member passed away in the ICU in mid December and I have to say that the two doctors in the ICU had zero training in speaking with the family members: Drs Ram Krishna and Chan, you are appalling individuals and undeserving of your titles. These two doctors were there for a pay check rather than being there to care for the patient. They would have made a better mechanic than doctors. Shame on you both for taking the oath of medicine. You are both undeserving of your titles.

M

Helped get pus out of my ear hole!! Everyone is super nice and one request make fast track be called slow track sice it took 5hrs to get pus out of my earhole

Patti Bunston

I have been a patron and a patient for over 41 years. Not everything can be perfect all the time but the imperfections are minute and primarily in management. I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren who are also patrons of Southlake. Wow the things they have done!!!

David Heisey

Gets a 2 only because it has a Druxy Deli. This is a filthy, disgusting hospital. Window sill with a lost glove for over 2 weeks and probably not dusted for months...

Forge by Nature

preregistering for delivery room at Southlake hospital, terrible service got hang up on twice,..and now just being transferred from person to person and them they hang up on me

Sandring

Emergency room was a nightmare. Unprofessional and rude behaviour by most of the nurses I was watching. Then doctor Chan shows up. You'll get more personality and care from a stethoscope, Abrupt, non informative and rude. Avoid this hospital at all costs.

Michael Garvey

The sign that reads “the technologist is aware you are hear, please have a seat,” they didn’t know we were here.

Gord Harris

I recently had a procedure done at Southlake on the 5th floor in the cardiac short stay ward and It was a very good experience from start finish, the nursing team are fantastic delivering top notch care...a special thanks to Cheryl your the best...Patient 19 Gord from Orangeville.

kevswick

Why the hell are they raising funds for a second MRI machine, when the one they have is not running 24/7? There are a lot of people waiting many months, in pain, to have this procedure done, at any time of day!

Ashley Sedore

Horrible service.

Matthew Wyatt

When you go in for mental health they dismiss you and lie to your face about sending referrals

Matthew Sibbald

Every single person I have talked to about Southlake either has a horror story, or knows someone with one. From misdiagnosis to malpractice, Southlake has it all in droves. I would rather sit in the back on an ambulance on the 400 stuck in traffic than go here.

Steve Curtis

Our baby is in the Level 2+ Nursery here. We have been at 3 other NICU's in Toronto, Welland and Hamilton. I would have to say that this one is probably the best. The staff here are very polite and experienced. The equipment is state of the art. Everything is very clean. They are capable of handling any situation and can even perform eye exams onsite so you wouldn't have to transfer for it. If you are considering coming here we would highly recommend it for your precious little one.

Gabriel Bousquet

This place is amazing. Kind and attentive. My son was born here and I go out of my way to go here whenever I need anything.

Maddie Boyle

Went in for hip surgery. This hospital is amazing. From my pre op appts to seeing specialists, it was well organized and so helpful...we are so lucky to have SRH here in Newmarket/Aurora

S H

I have a funny story. I went to the emergency a few days ago because I passed out and felt really strange afterwards. Everything checked out to be okay, but it was so busy there that the doctor must have had me confused for another patient. He wrote on his report about me, that I later saw on the patient portal, saying how I came to the ER with an onset of chest pain and anxiety. I did not have either of those. What the H southlake? How can you possibly not know why a patient is there. I am considering going to the college, I just hope I don’t die like other reviews I have seen on here. What a disorganized unprofessional place.

Dhaval Sonkusare

My wife was pregnant, she had back pain and they want us to come next day for an ultra sound. No point going there for an emergency, and staff is disorganized.

Linda Rowe

Out of my two times being admitted the nursing staff are amazing and warm and caring. The food isn't half bad either.

Julie Burley

The WORST place to go in an emergency waiting went by ambulance and still waited for HOURS every time they say there is only 1 doctor for the whole hospital.. i cant believe something hasnt been done horrible experience on multiple occasions

Laugh with Snay and Karan

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been the intake are rude are miserable the least compassionate people I have ever met in my life I don't know how they got this job, bet emergency for animals are way more compassionate then this pathetic hospital...

A P

They have a really bad emergency department their staff does not care at all about the patients and everytime we go it takes 6 hours for their work to be done even when its not busy at all. They say they cannot do anything unless the patient cannot walk or speak i dont get what that means though, you want the patient to be dead for you to be able to do something? You have to solve the problem whatever it is since none of us want to be at a hospital unless something bad has happened to us. The system needs to change.

Samantha M

Always have a good experience at Southlake. I've never had a problem. Doctors and nurses are always caring and take the time for you.

Nancy Liu

(Translated) In the emergency department of Nightmare Hospital, because of gallstone pain, I got 7 needles in the emergency room for infusion. After returning home, I found that the needle was still on my arm! Various situations! (Original) 噩梦医院,因为胆结石疼的急诊,就在急诊室输液扎了我7针,回家后发现针头还在胳膊上!各种各样的状况!

They did an amazing job with my dad's quadruple bypass surgery.

Koosha Mojiri

Really bad behavior at the emergency section the nurse didnt care at all, we wanted to leave and they sed go ahead just sign here

Gina Flo

I recently gave Birth at Southlake Hospital and it was such a beautiful experience. All the nurses and doctors were so nice and had great bedside manners. They were very compassionate and caring even though they were so busy! Thank you so much to the Birthing unit for the wonderful love and care you guys gave me! It made my birthing experience that much better!

Mark S

Many years ago I went to the emergency room with intense abdominal pain. I was treated right away and given demerol. But it had no effect. I was screaming in pain. After about 30 minutes of this, my father pleaded with the nurse for more pain medication. They gave me a bit more, but it did no good. I was still screaming in pain 30 minutes later. My father pleaded for them to do something, and the nurse told my father that if he asked again, they would kick him out of the hospital. I was in agony for about 2.5 hours, the entire floor could hear my screams and moans and nothing was done. The doctor saw me for about 20 seconds. The nurse was a real piece of work. How can people like that get into medicine? BTW, five years later, I went to the emergency room when I had a panic attack that would not end. I got there about midnight and waited for almost 7 hours to see a doctor to get a sedative. That was the worse night of my life. It was not busy, there just was a doctor shortage.

Melanie Renshaw

My daughter is sick for 3 or 4 days with stomach pain. Took her to the hospital today. She's 20 so I was not allowed to go into emergency with her. She has major anxiety so opted not to go in without someone with her so now she is sick in bed at home. Now it makes me think of all the people in the hospital dying and they aren't allowed to have people with them. It's inhumane.

Daire Minuti

Never, EVER, come here for mental health issues. They focus on getting you out not getting better. One nurse was absolutely lovely, the rest of them were awful. The psychiatrist was never there and when she was she was rude and never let you speak. On top of that, it feels a prison, not a place to get better.

Jacub Fernandes

You'll collapse in the waiting room and still be waiting for staff to care or pay attention. 7 hours and counting. 4th room and counting. No doctor yet. And nurses with power issues. Drive the extra hour and just go to the city, or go to a walk in for faster care if you can.

hc snoopy

Poorly equipped for infant related emergencies - better to head to McKenzie Health and or of course SickKids Hospital.

Aaron

Overall, it was a terrible experience. I was on the floor puking continuously, haven't eaten in 5 days, felt like dying and I was treated with such disrespect/carelessness by most. HOWEVER, one nurse in particular was great. His name is Dwayne, short buzzed hair. While I was seeking assistance from others and receiving little to nothing, he was very informative and comforting. He also has a great sense of humour, a good person to have in the field. He shared his own tricks to help remedy my endless vomiting. He made my experience bearable, and for that I thank him very much!

Esther Marcus

Had an angiogram September 2020. I was TERRIFIED. The nurses were incredible, the doctor that did the procedure was very reassuring and talked me through the procedure. Recovery was easy with the nurse support. I feel fortunate to have been taken care of at Southlake.

Canadian Person

Yet another poorly run clinic. Had a booked appointment for 1 pm that we were to show up for at 12 and they called us to come in 2 1/2 hours early. We did, only to sit in a packed (20 people) waiting room during covid with elderly patients all waiting for cataract surgery. When did we finally get invited in for our 1pm appointment? After 1 pm. The clinic blames the doctors office. The doctors office blames the clinic. Meanwhile the patient is the only one who suffers. While we read on the walls of the clinic, little posters about how they value their patients time. Poorly run. Poorly organized. Very disappointing. Update. When coming to retrieve the patient, the nurse who was acting as if she were in charge decides people should wait in chairs right beside each other and ignore the 6ft distance requirement because people are wearing masks. Somehow she seems to be aware of covid protocols the rest of us aren't. The patient was groggy coming put 9f surgery and had questions. She dismissed the patients questions and concerns vaguely waving at signs. The other nurse was great and patient and when I mentioned it the first nurse took the time to come back and argue about how she doesn't need patience that people need to learn how to read (showing her lack of patience). I really cannot stress what a poor interaction this was. If you are getting cataract surgery...go elsewhere. This is not the place to go.

Doug Hunt

Southlake Hospital's reputation has, unfortunately, declined over the years. Some staff are careless and poor with their jobs. However, others will shed sweat and blood to help you and they truly care. The higher demand at Southlake is not being covered and is too much stress for one hospital. The fact there is only 1, maybe 2 doctors for a period of several hours at night is absolutely disgusting. I give this hospital a 3 star review not because of the way its run. It's because of the people who care there. They deserve to know this: no matter what my rating here is, you are worth more than just 5 stars. You are worth millions.

V D-C (Niroshiin)

The Nurses at the Triage and Registration are more welcoming and professional then any Nurses or Doctors working in Acute or Fast-Track. I've had to be to the Hospital many times and each and every time they never take their clients seriously. I can understand that working here can be a stressful, thankless job but for god sake's at least DO your jobs properly and help your Patients when they need it. I was in pain and could not walk and a doctor said he'd get someone to grab me a wheelchair. I waited an 30 minutes for anyone to help me; A fellow Patient (bless her heart) ran and got me one way before anyone even bothered to respond to the call. I might as well go to York Medical where I can get treated the same, my injuries and sicknesses unsolved but not wait 4-5 hours to be told as such. I wouldn't recommend either but hey, choose the lesser evil of the two.

Jane V

First time patient at this hospital. I found the welcome staff and the general nurses to be adequate, but the head nurse and doctor overseeing me to be excellent. I was treated with care and respect, and was given periodic updates on wait times.

Agit Cocelli

emergency Room two much a wait no. Baed lay down

This 5 star is for the front desk nurse Carrie she's so nice and friendly. I wish all nurses are like her.

Had trouble breathing, went into the ER, was given treatment for "Asthma" and sent home. Returned a couple days later because my breathing was deteriorating, had an X-Ray done, told I have bronchitis and sent home. Returned the following day, by this point they thought I was crazy, were sick of looking at me apparently and was told it's asthma, giving the breathing treatments and sent home. I finally caved and went back a couple days later because throughout this time, my breathing was getting so bad, it was almost impossible to get any air. I was once again told I had bronchitis and sent home. This process was repeated a few more times until I went in on a Thursday, they did X-Rays in which my lungs had white all over them, I asked what it was and the ER Dr. said "Sometimes you can see shadows on lungs when the Bronchitis is really bad. He prescribed antibiotics and sent me home. The VERY NEXT day I went back in by Ambulance because I was so weak that I couldn't stand up. The Triage nurse who had seen me a couple times before, was about to call Psych on me, told my husband that she suspected Munchhausen's syndrome. He looked at her and said "Can you have a look, PLEASE?? She CAN'T BREATHE!" .. she started taking my stats and realized my Oxygen saturation (Which should be 100%) was 32%. Meaning the flow of oxygen in my blood was at deadly levels. She sent me back in immediately. I was seen by a Dr. within 5 minutes, who looked at the X-Rays from the night before and admitted me immediately. I had Severe and acute Pneumonia in BOTH LUNGS and was barely breathing. I had to have a procedure to clear my lungs of fluid, I was in a coma for 8 days, one month in ICU and 2.5 more weeks on a recovery floor. My heart stopped 3x while I was in that coma and they kept having to bring me back. I BARELY survived that and thankfully I did. If I need to go back for anything, any reason to an ER.. I will be going somewhere else. This hospital nearly killed me and almost called psychiatric on me because they thought I was making it up. Never.Never.Never AGAIN!

Catherine Tedesco

Terrible hospital, people all over the place, not clean at all. Took my girlfriend in because she couldn't breathe after finishing a ten day antibiotic for bronchitis, symptoms did not change. "Dr" Lee apparently said her chest X-rays were fine which I highly doubt and blamed her in the open with 50+ plus people around that she over used her inhaler and also said she didn't have a fever, only too come home to her temperature to be pass 40! Obviously there is an infection in her system for this to be happening. Now I'm sitting in emergency again because her fever is still present and symptoms have not change and she also has stopped using her "inhaler" that she apparently over used like she was asked too, and still the exact same symptoms. Neglegence at its prime at this hospital and no PRIVACY WHATSOEVER, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!

Aaron Leacock

Aweful place

Naturally Aspir8ed

I've only been to the emergency department a handful of times in my life. This place is by far the worst. Please expect to wait hours and hours in the waiting area just for blood results. I am 6 hours in and still am waiting for an ultrasound. The staff are friendly and the doctors are polite but this place is like a zoo. Not only that but the entire department looks like it's from the 90s. This place definitely needs a renovation and this hospital simply cannot handle the volume of patients coming into the emergency department. You're better off going to another emergency.

Andy Wang

Peter Ashworth

Rudest nursing staff.

Eric Tam

Candice Cushinan

I would give more star cause they do have telly great doctors but everytime I deal with the nursing staff they are horrible I had one time they put a latex Catheter in me and I am allergic to latex. Another time they bruised my are bad with a arm cuff even though I said it was to small they kept using it.

Jade Berns

Today my experience was overall pretty successful. I had hurt my collar bone and waited to check in for about a half an hour. After that I went right to X-rays and was in and out within a hour with results that it was a minor fracture and a appointment for the fracture clinic. I had a lot of things with me and was having trouble carrying them and was offered a bag and the doctor carried my bag for me and held the door. The lady that checked me in at triage was friendly and helpful. I had forgotten my appointment form and the nurse had called me with the information before I even realized I had forgotten it. My only complaint is the welcome area is a little bit grungy and a lady (elderly) working in triage was kind of rude telling me to stop talking loud on my phone. I was alone there during my time and had to call a family member for a ride home, I was loud because right now you are forced to wear masks while waiting and it was hard for the person to hear me.

Kyle Boyd

This hospital took pretty good care of me, however completely violated my patient/doctor confidentiality by informing my family doctor of my condition when I clearly told them that I would like to be the one to inform my doctor. At front desk they offered the option to share information with my family doctor or not and I said no. Embarrassing to say the least when I tried to inform my doctor what happened, he already had a full report...

Charlie Martin

Friendly and happy staff.

Anoja Jesudason

My husband was in this hospital on the 6th floor for few days and had worst experience. Most nurses and the doctor doesn't do much. You need to take off from your job to be with your patient or otherwise expect the least care.

sharon northey

Southlake staff were amazing in the birthing unit ! Thank you!

Mars Mcguiness

Professional ... Organised ...and friendly. Has a widespread and magnificent reputation for heart-related surgery which, I imagine, extends to other surgical and medical treatment. BUT - the Parking is a nightmare!!

Godsimmortal Princess

Worst hospital I've ever been to. people throwing up in the halls, blood stains on the floor, they stuck me in a corner in the hallway with an IV in my arm and didn't check on me for hours. I had to ask 5 different nurses to take it out before I ended up doing it myself. All while the nurses are giggling telling stories to each other. Absolute nightmare. I watched a nurse bring an extremely elderly woman to the washroom. She helped her out of her wheelchair and left her in the washroom and FORGOT ABOUT HER! 20 minutes later someone walked in on the poor old lady and called a nurse for help. Her wheelchair was even gone. Careless rude staff. Worst hospital expierence of my entire life. I'd rather die then go back here

I visited the Emergency Department at Southlake Hospital this past weekend with cognitive impairment, vision problems, head pressure and numbness, and severe dizziness which prevented me from walking unassisted. I was given a thorough evaluation with bloodwork, CT scan, and ECG, and a referral to an outside doctor for further neurological investigations. The doctor I saw was incredible, and all of the staff from the triage nurse to the woman who brought me for my CT scan were warm and compassionate. I left a hospital that I felt unsafe at before visiting Southlake, and I am very thankful for the care that I received once I was there. The emergency department was very busy and seemed to be dealing with some serious and difficult cases, yet the staff remained calm and respectful, and patients appeared to be continually monitored and treated efficiently. The system that the department uses for nurses to monitor patients works incredibly well, allowing for quick bloodwork and IV, and ensuring that patients do not go hours in a room alone and unseen without some type of assessment or monitoring. All of the staff were constantly working and interacting with patients, rather than congregating and socializing with one another. This is a hospital that is getting it right. Thank you to all of the hardworking staff! While I hope I will not be visiting again anytime soon, I feel relieved that I finally have a safe place to go in an emergency or if my family is in need of care.

worst hospital ever god forbid you go to the ER you might as well go sign your death wish. Nurses are terriable at the jobs and don’t even like what their doing! We’re in stage 3 with 80% of the population fully vaccinated how do you only allow 1 person only and the hospital is still in restrictions. And i’m sure all the nurses are fully vaccinated as well and their worrying about covid

Games Only

September 10, 10am. ive taken covid tests every two to three weeks for my occupation. At first they were so efficient and so compassionate. But I've noticed they've become more impatient. Today they brought me in and jabbed my nose a few times so it hurts and sent me off. I had a few questions today and they didn't bother to answer them. In June and July when I had tests done they would bring you in, take their time and ask you a few questions before they would do one or two proper Basel insertions. I have a brain injury and I asked her not to jerk around my shoulder but they were in such a rush they didn't care.

I just was in for my prenatal appointment and I'm really shocked and disappointed that I saw so many nurses with no masks on in the hospital. Specifically the prenatal unit. Nurses were in the hallway with no masks on eating and chatting, I unfortunately had to pass them and thought common courtesy at the least they'd put their masks on while a pregnant woman had to pass them but no, just glaring.. then in the office I had to check in to the woman there and she didn't have a mask on at all. Zero care at all and now I'm just extremely uncomfortable that these are the people I'm having to deliver my baby around yet they have no ounce of care for their patients safety during these times. No wonder there is a nurse shortage due to COVID. No one takes this seriously and it's disturbing. Please Southlake tighten your rules for patient and staff safety. There's no excuse.

Rose Fudge

They are very aware of covid I was there for testing but I felt safe.

Went to the ER dizzy, disorientated, with chills, an erratic heartbeat, and heavy coughs but the triage nurse just wrote me off as delusional, the same with the ER doc. The whole process took 5 hours, most of which was spent waiting. Went to a nearby clinic later that afternoon as I could barely stand and got diagnosed with sepsis. If I had waited another longer, I could've died. If you value your life and health, stay away from Southlake.

Had an really disappointing experience in emergency. I could not believe how filthy dirty from when you first walk through the emergency waiting room to when your called in for a Dr to see you. I have seen dirty, however never like this. Once being inside the emergency area there is no place to sit in the waiting area, the lack of chairs and the poor sick people that are not well and have no place to sit. In listening to how the Nursing staff where speaking about patients and their lack of compassion. I was sick to my stomach in how rude the Nursing staff were. You honestly disgust me, and how do you stay in an industry you clearly hate? It’s in your words, lack of empathy and zero compassion that you show...again it makes me sick how you treat people. Do us a favour quite your job in this industry if you clearly dislike it so much. Very disappointed new resident to New Market Ontario. Thanks for a great first experience...NOT!!!!!!!

Shohreh Fard

The 5th floor CICU was great. Especially Chad, all the nurses and the doctors. But The 2nd floor ICU was absolutely brutal. Lacked warmth and attentive care. Nurses were rude and void of empathy. There was a mean volunteer gestapo gatekeeper at the front. Bad taste in our mouth. Sad to witness.

Dennis Bottero

Had a knee replacement sept 21 , 2021. Staff was amazing , my floor nurse Trianna took great care of me and I had 2 follow up calls from Val the pain management professional. Shout out to my surgeon Dr Lindsay and his assistant Karen for their continued professionalism

Laura Kinsella

I beg of you if you AT ALL can take yourself or your family member to another hospital PLEASE DO! This is by far the worst hospital experience I have ever had. I've been to hospitals all over the world and have been treated better than this. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU DONT HAVE TO! This is a C grade hospital AT BEST. Do not take the risk and go here.

Lex Xx

I wonder if this hospital cares if people live or die. I went there for severe stomach and body pains that I could not handle anymore. They told me it was probably a stomach bug passing through me and they will call me later. I keep calling them to follow up and they keep saying they will call me back later. Apparently child abductions are also a common running theme there. Please stay away from this hospital.

Vlada Moroz

Awful. I hurt my back and the ER doctor refused to do any kind of xray or check, gave me an IV drip and sent me home after four hours of waiting. When I came back in three days because my back was worse, I was told it was because of my diet. Not the fall on the concrete directly on my back, but my diet and that I should stop "eating takeout". If you can go to another hospital, do it. The people here are awful, unprofessional, and do more harm than good.

Rick Bloxam

Lack of empathy!!! Lack of privacy when entering asking private questions out load. They should have provisions for patients that can’t stand or sit!!! Like a gurney Fast track (really) how about slow track! (Love the nurses and doctors) great job Hospital policy’s have made it impossible for them to do their job and this should never happen.

Sahel Ghadami

Worst hospital ever!!! Ambulance took me there , I was dying of the pain and nobody was there to help! Instead of helping their Ambassador telling me calm down, EXCUSE ME get someone to help me that I can calm down!!! I was there for 12 hours , my Iv was done for more than an hour and blood was coming I called someone to help, he is telling me I don't know who you are just wait!!! WORST HOSPITAL EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE

Scott Kennedy

Nurses are rude. They speak badly of the patients they are supposedly helping - right in front of other parients- hello confidentiality and hello compassion. And hello contacting your colleges!! I hope that someone shows you as much care towards you or one of your loved ones as you do for your patients.. think about it... Crisis worker was amazing and even walked me out of hospital to make sure I found my way out and I wasn't even her patient. Also over heard nurses speak badly about other nurses while I waited for hours. I woukd rather drive hours to another hospital than come here. Awful. Can only imagine how the managers operate by allowing this to occur. Never again

M. C.

To be seen was fast ????. Waited over hour close to two for blood results than oh you didn’t have your ecg done ... I though someone else was going to do it for you ??? Dr avoided eye contact with me while I was trying to get his attention, to just simply tell me what nurse already did but had to hear it from him which requires another 40 min wait. I get they all busy but being in ER with 4 month old baby very hard and no one showed compassion very disappointing. Would not go back there and hope I never have to .

JJ

Great hospital food and very attentive nurses

David Zhang

Great ER. Folks are generally friendly and professional.

Easy going hospital and helpful. Thank you

Curtis Hinksman

Had to go for simple test procedures took three visits to complete after driving 2 1/2 hours each way to go there. Terrible scheduling staff did not seem to care!

Darlene Warner

My husband just finished a half day in the short-stay cardio dept. on fifth floor. He was impressed by the professional and friendly staff in pre -op . Special thanks to two nurses , Olivia and Cheryl for their tender care and understanding in dealing with my old fart husband and Dr.Minkowitz and his team in surgery.

firouzeh nouri

Triage nurses are super nice and friendly but inside staff seem to be tired and have no patience specially filipino Phlebotomist who was a lady and was working Sat Aug 17,2018 morning at 10:30 am in the emergency was Very Very RUDE. I ask her to give me a second because she wanted to take a blood from my ONE MONTH old dougher’s hand and she looked at me very bad and she said if she leaves she doesn’t comeback. I was in a very bad situation because there was blood in my little one puke and the filipino lady had very bad attitude instead of being patient. I HOPE her supervisor read this since i do not know where should i complain.

Steve green

We took our daughter the last week she was having a rough time breathing. Turned out to be partially collapsed lung she was there for 5 days and she was also born there. I'll tell you be it not for those 4th floor nurses and doctors

Nichole Maher

Thanks for charging me twice for parking while visiting!

Cardiac nurses are phenomenal I have NO complainants about any person .from wheel chair pushers. Recovery surgery ward care meals any of many people I had to rely on..all were and are wonderful caring people. Only compliant I heard was a meal was notbarbq.will really!!

Sherry Highmore

Normally I like this hospital, until last night. I awoke to a major anxiety attack. I couldnt breathe, my chest was pounding, basically all the usual symptoms. I have suffered from these my entire life. I sat for 3 hours, no nurse, no Dr. Finally I was put into a room where Doogie Houser with an attitude told me to see a shrink and he would provide no prescription medicine until I did so. Clearly he did not read my file, he was rude and condescending and made me feel worse than when I went in. Maybe your staff should take some time and learn about this disorder and how dibilitating it can be. So basically I was let go, still with the anxiety attack and no way to solve it.

Skad Wes

TERRIBLE! Southlake takes up to 5 days to provide results for a COVID test. Other test sites are returning results next day. Poor service especially when you need the results to get into a long-term care home. I won't return or recommend Southlake. Get it together!

Ted Reeves

Not bad for only having to come once a year if that... doctors don’t really give you the time of day though, beats RVH in Barrie

Amir E

I can only speak about my experience in their emergency room but I have never in my life met a more dismissive doctor. It didn't take too long to be seen and the nurse and admin staff were nice but upon meeting the doctor I could tell immediately that he had zero interest in my case and was only trying to get rid of me. Without hyperbole, the doctor spoke to me for at most one minute before telling me that he couldn't help me and that I should just take aleve and deal with the agonizing pain until time and inactivity corrected it. I was not looking for opioids and I'm not sure if that was his assumption because I am a male in his 30's. I will never visit this hospital again and would recommend you avoid it if you are able.

mike m

Looks like this hospital has a rep for providing really bad health care. They need to be investigated ASAP. Shame on this hospital

Trina Miner

Last month I went to Emerg. I have Grave's and my gut was killing me. They did a pregnancy test on a 55 year old with a hysterectomy. They wouldn't contact my physicians who worked there but sent me to psychiatry where I stayed untreated for 3 days. By the time I got home and was able to connect with my doctors, they but me back in with IV s and scheduled a colonoscopy. One prescription for Entocort and things were much better. T I will not return through Emerg. It was traumatic to say the least.

Jasmine Courchesne

Wish I could rate no starts my experience here was ridiculous

Rozay knights

Had my TEE done. Hospital was so clean and well organized. Everybody was very helpful and most of all very friendly. Makes you feel more at home rather than a mystical place for the sick.

Danny

DO NOT go come here for mental health issues. That's all there is too it...

Dennis Frankland

Took a while to see a doctor, treatment was exceptional and thorough. I will sincerely trust in them.

jen dickens

Amazing staff in Cardiac Surgery! Attentive and kind care has been shown to my mom (and our entire family) since she arrived to receive a new mechanical heart valve on Valentine’s Day. The process has been smooth while the surgeon, the admins, the charge nurses and the ward nurses - even the cleaning staff - have all been pleasant, communicative and accommodating. As a person who avoids hospitals like the plague (no overnight stay when my babies were delivered), I must say that Southlake Cardiac is a breath of fresh air and the team goes the extra mile to give patients and their families a sense of dignity during a very emotionally and physically taxing time. “Heart-felt” thanks to Dr Teoh & the extended team!

Clowns work at this hospital. Total clowns.

Spent 12h in emergency with my grandfather (80years old with Parkinson disease and Alzheimer's whom health is deteriorating) him seated in a wheel chair for 12h. From the moment we arrived I have requested a bed for him because he cannot be seated for a long period of time. The morning shift nurse advise that she will transfer him once she get available bed. Not only she never did got a bed she didn't seem to care much by the time her shift was over around 7:30pm, not a single test was done. New shift started I thought maybe I will get luckier with a new nurse, but after he got himself familiar with the documents of the patients he is taking over (it took him 1h) he is going for 45min break!!!! My grandpa chart is on his table for an hour and he requires tons of test to be preformed this is our 8th hour in emergency!!! Still nothing! I stopped the nurse before he managed to go on his break told him all I described above. His answer was let me take his vital signs before I go!!! Really??!!! The chart says Urine test, blood test, CT scan and chest X-ray! He took vital signs and left. New dr. On the floor, I am all hopes, maybe I will get a dr. who actually care to do something. Btw we are still seated in a wheel chair. The dr. spoke to a different nurse and by the time he was back from his 45min break all test and all scans were done! Happy ending? NO!!! 12AM we are at emergency and my poor 80 year old grandpa still seated in the damn wheel chair! The dr. came and advised that they will be leaving my grandpa overnight. 1:30am the nurse came and said that there is a bed but it will take another 1.5h to clean. At this point I gave up on our health system and the disgusting (no other words to describe) the staff care, and took my grandpa home needless to say without any result! But this is not the worst part. On the way to the CT scan where only staff have access to there were PLENTY of EMPTY beds and strechers ! WHY? It was not given? But when I made enormous requests to be considerate and give my grandpa a bed the staff where fast to blame the system for being short on everything ! Nurses in the this ER lack of compassion exetremly rude, ignorant and you can tell they hate their job and cant stand their patients. Please please please avoid this hospital especially with elderly.

Anastasia Halpern

Very busy emergency department and excellent care

Jason K

Worst hospital ever. Came for appointment, made me wait 8 hours in the ER hall (told "1 more hour" half a dozen times) then comes to say doctor went home for the day. No one cares. Criminal waste of tax dollars.

Anna Trankovskaya

Had the worst experience of my life when I was looking helplessly into my daughter's eyes for 6 hours straight, while she was in unbelievable pain while waiting for someone to help us at Emergency at Southlake. They took their sweet time registering us for about an hour (with only 4 people around), then put us with acute pain in the general line where we spent another wonderful two hours waiting to be looked at. After the 1st hour, I approached the nurse asking if someone can look at my daughter as she is folded in half in pain in the hallway, her response was: "Excellent! Wait in the hall we'll call you!" How's that excellent? After waiting for another hour, we got invited, tests ordered. Another hour waiting for the ultrasound and 1.5 hours for its result that didn't show anything. Then the doctor announced that he is not sure what it is (ultrasound wasn't clear) and that I could do the CAT scan if I'm OK with it. But it's my call, no advice from him whatsoever. Sent us home to chew up some Tylenol 3. It was a torture! Try to explain that to your child: why so many "doctors" around and yet nobody to help... And don't bother responding by saying that "You are sorry that you didn't live up to my expectations". You didn't live up to the oath you gave as doctors!

Jeanette Chapman

Brought daughter in at 1045 pm still here the next morning after 10 hours find out that someone had entered her as discharged (their mistake) and no one is willing to get her test results back to her so we can finally go home What a joke

Andrew Barrow

Every nurse and doctor we interacted with in the cardiac area was patient, professional and generally awesome. Thank you!

Tri Tech

My hand was dislocated due to a fall in skiing. we wend there around 11:30 pm and their service was pretty fast and the staff were friendly and caring. I was done at 2:30am. They were very professional and know what they are doing.

Fahad Agha

Extremely poor service. Nurses are rude. If you ask any question then she shake head and give you looks and murmuring. She even did not know how to inject syringe and injected syringe roughly which caused over bleeding. I asked her what s that and she created scene. Patient has right to know what you are doing on patient. She replied that's stupid and then she had to listen dor what she said. Big scene, doctor involved, other staff and security involved. Good this is after that big scene her attitude with every patient was changed and even with me and I responded same way. X ray machines' batteries are dead and you keep changing room and wait. Dr does dancing when talking. I was thinking for a second is he really a doctor or actor. Seriously guys?

Pam MacDonald

Thank you to the amazing Dr. Lee and all the staff at Southlake for the outstanding care I received as a result of knee replacement Dec. 9. Everyone I came in contact with was helpful and caring. This quality of care has continued in my visits to the physio department - thanks especially to Fiona for all her help.

Mike Smith

Very busy

The emergency is awful. Drive to another hospital and don't waste your time . Your health doesn't matter to them. A lady called Tracy at emergency who was in charge is a bully. She is aggressive to patients and even other staff. Just ask her how long it's going to take to see a doctor and she will tell you to leave the emergency. She is very rude and has no responsibility or understanding of people's health or emotions. She just yells and yells. in front of people. She can't control her own temper. I wonder how she is given that position to control and manage the department.

David Parliament

Kayleigh Gillis

Bad place to go if you are in need of emergency mental health support. The nurses were rude and unempathetic and I was asked by the crisis support worker if I felt safe at home while people who live in my home were standing right there in front of her. *pre-Covid.

Alnasir Shivji

Excellent service while my wife went for her appointments

Secret Secret

The worst hospital in Ontario, even not deserving for 1 star. Covid-19 assessment is free for everyone in Ontario, but not Southlake Regional Health Centre. My parents, who have no symptom, were required to pay a thousand register fee to meet emergency doctor in order to register the test, because of no OHIP.

Cindy Connor

One star is way too much... Absolutely disgusted by one of their ER doctors. I went to ER due to extreme headaches and nausea, the doctor was first of all questioning me why I went to ER instead of asking me about my symptoms. He was trying to give me a lecture on how I should be seeing my own family doctor for these things.I had already informed him i had been feeling sick for about 3 months ( i was over seas and had just come back from vacation) but that today was alot worse and I couldn’t handle it, but he wasn’t even listening to me. I continued on with my symptoms and informed him that 2 of my relatives had brain tumors (as tumors can be genetics). This doctor had the audacity to laugh and say “so I assume you are here because you think you have a brain tumor?”. I was so disgusted with his behaviour, I said I don’t know what I have, hense why I am here. He goes on to say that he doesnt believe I have a tumor. He then sends me off to get a CT scan (because I practically made it clear I want to get a CT scan) . I do the CT scan and wait for the results. He comes back to tell me that I DO HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR (mind you he couldn’t even look at me when he is telling me this). He did not refer me to a specialist, he simply gave me the CT scan results and told me to see my family doctor as soon as possible and walked out of the room with out any further information. I am absolutely livid at how this doctor treated me. There was absolutely no compassion and care. From start to finish he was trying to show off that he is a “doctor” and has “so much knowledge” making me feel stupid. Going to a hospital is stressful enough and being diagnosed with a brain tumor this way is absolutely horrifying! I left the hospital in tears and a million questions. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Jin Chen

Not sure where those negative comments really came from. My experience with South Lake was nothing but great. Everyone that we dealt with including the doctor and nursing staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A management staff even came and asked us if there is any area for improvement, which was highly appreciated. I hope you never have to use their service, but if you do you can place your full trust on the people there.

York Region resident

Isobel was very kind and super professional... Thank you! We were very impressed with all aspects of care and attention at Southlake. Keep up the great work.

Over 30 hours without a bed! Worst hospital I've ever been to.

Romina Ivanloo

Honestly the worst hospital I’ve been in my life. I had an burning eye that wouldn’t open and was effected really badly to a point where I was going to go blind kept telling the nurses to at least give me something to calm down all they kept saying for a hour is you have to wait. They were laughing at me crying. I hope someone actually does something about this hospital and the staff. another women was bleeding while she was pregnant and could’ve lost her baby they said the same thing you have to wait so her husband was so angry and took her to another hospital. I will never forget my experience here horribleeee don’t Ever come here if you in a bad state cause they don’t help you out at all

LOVE Y

My father in law was in the hospital emergency for taking out fluid in his lung due to stage four cancel, he was in the hospital on Friday afternoon , he was transferred to cancel centre on Saturday but hadn’t been taken fluid until Sunday, a doctor or technician came on Sunday but even couldn’t take out the fluid after multiple trials, the technician was not only with very poor skills but also was arrogant! My father in law is still in the hospital until Monday, no idea what would happen on Tuesday, Wednesday, how long we are going to wait! It’s not a really emergency!!!

Carol -Ann Swinimer

I must say the staff are very pleasant. Wilson from the MRI department is so great, lovely people skills. Wish that where I am ( Barrie and Alliston had more people like him. )hospital)

ben oomen

There's always a wait at the doctor's. But they haven't let me down yet. Thank you Southlake!

Stevi

The staff in this hospital lack empathy and knowledge. It’s the worst possible place to go!!!

Disgusted

Both my partner and I have experienced excellent care at Southlake. I had a hip replacement done here (great surgeon) and the nursing staff, although overworked, were attentive and caring. In addition, the nurse assigned to me had a sense of humour that helped to dispel tension. The hospital has an efficient system for followup care. My partner had surgery done at another hospital and major infection resulted. Our visits to Southlake's ER were a pleasant experience. The staff were efficient and smiling - even at midnight!

Tony ZHU

100% satisfied with Dr. Atul Verma and his team, and the nurse team. The most professional team i ever met. They are all nice and caring and smiling when I did a surgery.

FOXX AGENCY

Brought my mom for pain in abdomen My mom also has dementia the nurse was soo rude telling me ... " im not going to wrestle with a dementia patient ".... i told her where to go and that she shouldn't even be a nurse ( so called at least) .

Darlene Watson

I was very pleased with the emergency department, last Friday evening. The triage nurse, Jennifer, I believe her name was. She was very pleasant and helpful. Than the fast track Dept., were also, amazing. All the staff were so helpful and kind. I was very happy with all the staff and services that I received. Thank you for your help and support. Oh and the rehabilitation center are truly amazing. I'm back there again for my hand. Always have had great experience in this Dept. Everyone is so amazing and helpful. I highly recommend this Dept for any Injuries.

Frances Liverance

I received amazing care, guidance and treatment when I was admitted to Southlake. Most of the staff was attentive, caring and skilled in their various roles. Thanks for your help during a difficult time.

Antonio Margheriti

"I WOULD RATHER TO DIE THAN BEING ADMITTED TO THIS HOSPITAL"

Tyler Lubinsky

WORST hospital anyone who gives them credit is only kidding themselves

Ben Bruinsma

Worst hospital of all time. Take a number and wait a few hours to check in, then wait a few hours more. Okay time to see someone? Nope. Wait a few hours more to hear some bs and be tossed out. Thanks, my foots only broken you know ..

Christina C

South lake hospital (Newmarket Ontario) is a joke. Would rate a zero if it was an option. Brought my daughter in with some pretty disturbing pictures on her phone (actually the police brought her in on a court order) Of her and my bathroom bloody, with her arm all cut up and texts saying that she "hasn't been this suicidal in a long time", but the text messages were on Monday (4 days prior) so they sent her home cause they don't think it's a mental health issue great enough to hospitalize her, as they don't think she's a threat to herself. These pictures were graphic with tons of blood on the floor, bloody razors, pills on the floor, and a separate picture of her bloody, cut up arm. I also had a judgement from the justice of the peace who also saw the pictures and texts. Who also thought they were disturbing and that he was frightened for her safety. They treated me, and talked to me, as if I was an idiot for bringing her in and for taking drastic measures as to go to a JP. Saying numerous times things along the lines of "and?" while rolling her eyes when showing them the suicidal messages and pictures. As if to say it was nothing and wasn't anything to be alarmed or. Also, asking numerous times "and why did you bring her in" (this was the crisis counselor) Their mental health practitioners are a joke. Don't care about the patients or the parents of mentally ill kids at all. The psychiatrist was even worse (which I didn't think was possible) I asked the psychiatrist what happens if she comes home and kills herself? She srugged her shoulders and told me that could happen once she is released if they do admit her so it's no different. She was rude and utterly disgusting. I was upset and told her I want her admitted as I was scared for her safety and would like a diagnosis. She got angry and said she had a diagnosis for me. She stated social anxiety and something else that I cannot remember, then went on to say that there's are no medications to help her "That's my diagnosis!!" She shouldn't have a medical license in my opinion. I was so angry, upset and disgusted by this "doctors" lack of empathy, basic human compassion, disgusting attitude, and overall rude demeanor that I had forgotten to get her name. Going to call in so I can file a former complaint with the medical board. Will also be speaking with my family doctor on how to deal with this situation. I have never been more disgusted by a human being in my entire life.

Janet Macdonald

You wont find any better doctors, nurses and all of the other staff involved on a daily basis for their kindness and professionalism as you do at Southlake Regional Health Centre . I was treated with the deepest respect and they always helped me in any way they could and I recommend this hospital to whoever needs one.

M Field

Bobby NGO

Dirty, slow and rude nurses in the ER, they ignore you and act like they don’t see you.

Ron Murphy

Dr Carolyn Teng and the staff at Southlake treated me like gold even though Covid has created a nightmare for the hospital. I can never thank them enough for their care and kindness.

Rosmarie Moghal

You think you are in a third world hospital. Don't be fooled by the outside look. Inside it's all old and crummy with peeling paint and holes in the walls. Doctors are ok, nurses rude with few exceptions. Now the heart function clinic is something else. They have their own agenda pushing medications, mostly new unproven ones, proceed with caution and possibly check with your GP who has your interest in mind. They don't.

Bailey Coop

Your medical staff is efficient but your other staff (ex: unit clerks) on the general surgery floor (floor 5) are quite rude. When I came to visit my uncle they were unapproachable, unfriendly and generally unpleasant. They sit on their phones and are upset when they are being approached and disturbed. It would be different if they were frustrated because they are busy with actual work instead of sitting on their phones and discussing their weekend. Overall, very unprofessional.

Jammie Reviews

Good: Security was helpful. Registration was polite. Dr. G. Puri was friendly and comforting. Bad: Triage was impatient and not very welcoming. They did not seem to recognise they were dealing with someone with a current ailment. Ugly: I felt rushed by the nurse and she was not very gentle. She left a needle wound bleeding and did not provide a bandage or cotton.

Veronica Chitoroga

Hi everyone first of all sorry if you will see any grammar mistakes in my review. English its my third language. Here we go. I was reading the bad reviews about this hospital well i don't know what to say everyone has their own opinion. On September 21st 2018 i gave birth to my first child at south lake hospital and let me tell you everyone was just AWESOME, GREAT TEAM THE BEST, I COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE. First i had a c-section since my baby was in breach position. Mu surgeon was Doctor Sasha Svistonyuk guys if you get this man as your surgeon you are blessed. The best carring man ever and as well huge professional in his job. Thank you doctor Sasha. My O.B.G Doctor Alona Kuzmina as well the best. I really enjoyed having her durring my pregnancy. Thanks Doctor Alona She came when i delivered and she was the one who sew me. My nurses omg i hope i rembered all Anne, Anna, Ann Marie, Kate. The girls and the anesthesiologist from the surgery sorry dont remember your names but they were also great and really helped to get thru and the end of the day i had a surgery. Thanks girls. Bonus for me was no rooms available and i got a private one. Let me tell you it does make a difference when you get a private room. I will make sure to get it at my second baby. So yeah here we go. Thats my story and thank you South lake and thank God everything went fine and my baby is healthy.

John Morrison

I have required the services at Southlake (formerly York County) many times over the past 34 years for various ailments, most recently a knee replacement. I have consistently had a positive experience, better than any other hospital that I am familiar with. I suspect the majority of ‘1 star’ respondents carry an overall negative perspective on life.

Vikas Gaur

Amazing experience at Southlake. The nurses and staff overall are courteous and attentive. They really take the time to show that they care.

Had a parent who had bypass surgery at this hospital. Patient stayed a few days pre- surgery, had his surgery done here, and then stayed afterwards as part of his recovery. My family and I went there daily during his entire stay, and the nurses and doctors were all great. Very accommodating and made us feel at ease.

Tina Lorenz

I just had a complete hysterectomy yesterday morning....the nurses were extremely cold and uncaring

Irina D

Amazing service, great doctors, perfectly organized hospital!

Katarzyna Escobar

Very efficient and friendly ER staff. I was in and out in 1.5 hours. Thanks!

My son who's 7, had his appendix removed there. I must say the best hospital and staff I have seen. Dr Temple was wonderful, supportive and professional. She explained the procedure kept us posted all the time, and was very kind and knowledgeable. Nurses at pediatrics were amazing, carrying and lovely. My son enjoyed the stay after all, and said it was fun. I am very grateful for the super positive experience in such a stressful situation.

Michael Zhivotovsky

It was a terrible night. The staff sleeps at work place. In spite there were 5 to 10 patients in waiting room It took us six hours to see the doctor and make a blood test. I do not recommend in case of emergency to go to this hospital. I'd rather drive another 20 min. to Richmond Hill or other closest City where we have a hospital.

AP Manager

Horrible Hospital ever , you are way better off to stay home but don't come to this Hospital here are some important facts 1 - Nurses are so careless and rude. 2- No Doctor available my mom was a patient for over 10days and only got 2 visits from Doctor 3- They will give you sleeping pills so that you don't ask nurses for help at night. The list goes on and on in short if you ever need Hospital please check Google reviews before visiting any Hospital especially south lake

Nurse Carol in the Cardiac short stay unit was absolutely great. She took her time to explain everything that was happening and always went over and above with her service.

This hospital was a HUGE disappointment. The ER docs made myself and my mother feel like we were bothering them and that they wanted to be somewhere else.....and looked like they couldn't be bothered or engaged with what was going on. Maybe cuz my mother is 75? Need to teach the docs some compassion and support and understanding. The population is aging deal with it and start caring.

alexandra

Don’t come here. Biggest waste of time. Food court isn’t even open to people in emergency. Way too many nurses just to have no doctors. Understaffed. There was a lady in the waiting room and they made her wait HOURS to see a doctor just to tell her she can’t see a doctor without a COVID test. Same thing happened to me today, they took me out of the waiting room and had me wait 2 hours for a doctor. Service here is absolutely disgusting. Don’t come here unless you want to be disappointed

I took a friend of mine, an elderly gentleman, to emergency a couple of times, and each time he was given the utmost attention,, and care by Nurses and doctors. Two weeks ago, he was at the day surgery ward, for an outpatient procedure, and the nurses at the ward, were superb, they were caring , and attentive to his needs, big smiles ,while they were running after all their patients. What a blessing.

I can't say enough about the incredible care I've received at Southlake, from the paramedics, nurses, doctors, anaesthetists and the entire surgical team, I could not have been better cared for. As someone with anxiety and having never had general anaesthetic or any surgery, they were genuinely compassionate and answered all the questions I had. They made a traumatic experience so much easier for me and I'm very grateful.

If I could give anything less than one star I would. I gave birth to my baby last week saturday, July 14, 2018 and the hospital was a disappointment. The delivery nurses were great but that was were it all ended. AFter delivery I was left on the delivery bed for 4 hrs and it was very uncomfortable and painful. I had just given birth without any pain meds. I asked for a private room asper my insurance coverage and the nurses kept telling me they couldn't find any of the cleaners to clean the room. When they eventually did move me to the private room, it was filthy. It felt like a room that had not been used for a while and to make matters worse, there was no hot water in the bathroom so i had to walk across the nurses station to another room to use the bathroom. On my way back from the bathroom, one of the nurses actually said to me " that the hospital is not hilton". Now, I have given birth in two other hospitals and this is by far the worst experience i have ever had. Southlake hospital is a joke. The bathroom and toilet in the so called private room was nasty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long while.

I went there on July 1st around 5:30 in absolute agony. After going through registration I sat in the waiting room for an hour, saw a university student nurse who asked me what was wrong I told her I had a sharp stabbing pain in my lower right abdomen, a fever, . She then went to press on it and I screamed because of how bad it hurt. She then said "are you sure it hurts?" and pressed on it again, resulting in me crying and shaking on the examining table. She asked me 5 times if it hurt to pee and numerous irrelevant questions. Then sat me in the waiting room after taking a urine sample. Me and my boyfriend then waited for 3 hours to hear from a doctor. Another nurse came and said " Ariel have you seen a doctor yet" I said "no" and she then said to me "oh because we lost your chart and urine sample". Then came up to me an hour later said take this pill here your prescription have a good night. They did not tell me what's wrong with me, what this medication was, who prescribed it, I figured I had a UTI which I've been known to get. I then went back to the hospital on July 3rd in worse pain then I was in on July 1st. I waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes this time and saw a nurse who seemed to care. Then sat in the waiting room in agony once again for almost 2 hours to see a doctor who did not seem interested in my issue or believe that I was in pain. He then told me I might have appendicitis. They did blood work, the nurse was really rough with me and rude to me because of the fact that I don't like needles, instead of trying to calm me down she asked "what the heck is wrong with this girl". Then waited 2 hours for blood work to come back after said 30 minutes. Then told me it was a 90% chance it was appendicitis gave me 3 antibiotics pills, prescribed me Tylenol 3 for the pain, told me I have an ultrasound at 8:00 am on July 4th then said have a good night . Which if it was appendicitis and my appendix ruptured it could have killed me, causing a huge law suit for them, not like they care. I returned on July 4th at 8:00 am for my ultrasound, the lady who did my ultrasound was really nice and tried to be as gentle as she could realizing I was in pain. Then I went back to ER to get the results. I saw a female doctor who was interested in my problem and cared that I was in pain. When she examined me she said you have a kidney infection which probably spread from the UTI to my kidneys. They put an IV in me with antibiotics to start flushing my kidneys before a CT scan. Then a nurse took more blood work and another urine sample. I then went to get my CT scan and the transport nurse was very nice and knew I couldn't walk fast because of the pain and talked to me about something other then my pain which was very helpful to get my mind off it. I then wait for my CT scan to come back after 3 hours. The doctor came in the room and told me I have a kidney infection from an untreated UTI because they prescribed the wrong antibiotics to me. She has me going in for the right treatment now this week that will help me get better as soon as possible. It took me 3 times returning to the hospital to figure out what was wrong with me or even find a doctor that wanted to help me. They prescribed me the wrong antibiotics and made my infection worse, which could have caused me to have kidney failure. This hospital is ridiculous there's a slim to none chance that you'll find a nurse or doctor in ER that actually cares and wants to help patients. It's really worth making the drive to Toronto, Barrie, stouffville, anywhere but here for help.

Marcus ChangSue

Southlake is a great hospital! Staff are very kind and will help you with all your needs!

Paul Carlos

I spent 3 weeks at Southlake in 2015 after having a heart attack, open heart surgery ,a stroke, a seizure and left side paralysis in 3 days My care was excellent Sandra Von Alma

JTL

The emergency department doctor actually yelled at us stating our baby did not have a fever yet the nurses stated the baby's temperature was 37.8. The doctor yelled at us to leave the hospital. Go to Sick Kids. Don't bother with this place.

Nickta Jowhari

I have generally always had a good experience there. When it comes to serious matters such as surgerys or allergies, the emergency room doctors really prioritize those patients first. After having an adverse allergic reaction this past weekend, they promptly treated me and released me within three hours. The nurses are the backbone of that hospital. Thank you :)

Sandra Hall

Brought my 15 year old daughter there because she was feeling fatigued and felt like her heart was constantly racing. Without waiting several hours, they did tests and found the problem. Excellent doctors, nurses and technicians. She was treated and released. Thank you to them for figuring out what was going on. This could have potentially been a serious health issue. Thank you SouthLake! You do good work

Marjan Shariatpanahi

I was in the emergency room with a very bad pain. The doctors and nurses were very helpful from the beginning to the end

Pouyan Fazeli

Probably the best hospital in york region

Tiffany Carter

Incredibly caring and fun staff. Went to emergency for my husband’s broken elbow and we were there less than an hour! So fast and one of the best hospitals we’ve ever been too! Thank you so much!!

Susan Crowley

Cancer centre is wonderful. Emergency seriously needs improvement communication skills. I have been here several times for my parents. Nurses will tell you doctor is coming soon. 8 hours later, we are still waiting. I don't mind waiting. I hate being lied to.

Warren Morrison

Spent from June 1 to Aug27 last summer for heart and numerous other complications . I admire their professionism even in spite of when I was a pain in the butt. Thank you so much and I am back golfing and enjoying my retirement finally.

Kurtis Canada

The worst experience nurses standing around excepting you to know where to go and what to do very very very rude staff the worst hospital in York region I have staff of south lake on social media and they love there Snapchat and wasting time if I could give zero stars I would

I came to this hospital as I usually do because one time I was extremely ill with a chest infection and they were able to help me wonderfully the drive from where I live is a good 45 minutes as I thought they were worth it. Unfortunately my last experience was not at all great with this hospital I had bladder problems for about a month at this point symptoms of a uti but my urine was constantly coming back clear along with other tests but I knew something was wrong I went to this hospital for help as I started having severe pain and going to the bathroom about 30 times a day couldn't drive leave my house etc.. I had explained to them that I had previously had about 100 different tests done you name it I did it and everything was coming back clear and that I knew something was definitely wrong when the first test they ran came back clear witch was only a urine test about the 100th one I've done and I explained that it was going to come back clear but something was still wrong. the doctor sat me in a room and said its clear so were sending you home and I said but that doesn't help me and he said your urines is clear I am telling you everything looks fine here is a sheet of your test result if you want to bring it to your family doctor and he left the room didn't give me a chance to ask anything didn't even want to talk to me about further testing nothing!!! HORIBBLE. I then had to seek my own help and see a urologist on my own pretty much be my own doctor since not even the hospital would help me and in the end I pretty much had internal cystitis witch doesn't show up in urine but only threw a scope!! my point is it shouldn't be about how fast you get people in and out it should be about getting the bottom of someone health problem!! the doctor I saw was very disappointing to see didn't care at all! I would not go here unless you want to be rushed in and out with a wrong diagnosis or no help at all!!

David zhulin

Worst hospital ever I have been. You are not a patient there , they treat you like a piece of ash. Very non professional , There is only one young doctor there all the time on the emergency who does not even know his name!!! long line up just go somewhere else...

Val

I was told to be here for my procedure at 11:45 am. I've been sitting in a surgical gown for over an hour in a drafty hallway. Still waiting and a nurse just told another patient who's been here longer than me that the physician has yet to be seen today. Would be nice to get a reimbursement for extra parking costs and extra lost time at work. I made a special effort to be on time. Disappointed by the wait for a scheduled procedure.

Morgan T.

The labour and delivery department is just amazing. The doctor and nurses are kind and caring. I spent a total of a week there ( broken up by two days ) and I never had any problems with anyone. Just two little things the could be improved: I was not on a npo ( nothing by mouth ) and it took ages to get any food. Thankfully my mother was able to track down my o.b, who made sure I got something to eat. Private rooms go very quick here. I had told finance, registration and registration again when I got up stairs. I was put into a semi private room, post delivery. It was okay but wished for a little more privacy. Don't have a baby in July, its the busiest month I was told.

Vic U

Night and day difference between this hospital and Mackenzie Health. Information is key in medical emergencies and the experience we had at Southlake was very good. My father was brought in for 5 days and the staff was courteous, empathic and accommodating. The nursing staff had individual personalities that were all great. The hospital itself was easy to manure and we appreciated the small touches such as the postings on the wall as to what patients can expect for care. The cardiology department t was where my father was and we are very appreciative of all the staff their.

Sara W

The staff lacks empathy for patients and their families. ICU staff in particular is hit or miss. Some are rude while some are total sweethearts. Majority of the ICU doctors are inconsiderate and lack basic compassion. I would avoid this hospital, and go to another one.

Margo Mas

this is the worst hospital ever ! The person (Irene) who books ultrasound appointments at emergency department was very rude, she has available time in the afternoon and we asked for it, but she gave us 8 a.m. After spending 8 hours at emergency department (doctor did only x-ray and even didn't bother to do the u/s with abdomen pain ! we had to wait or come back for u/s at 8 a.m. We came to Newmarket hospital from Richmond Hill and had very bad experience ! ( waited for the doctor 7 hours after the x-ray test) It's TRUE: they don't work, they checking their cellphones all the time. They all must be fired ! Mount Sinai Princess Margaret are very good hospitals, unfortunately too far from my place.

donna pong

The receptionist of the rehab unit is very rude, arrogant and not helpful! I called to ask whether we could bring some items for the patient and she responded in a very rude way, as if we were supposed to know the answer. Also, on a different occasion where we could see via the virtual call that the patient needed help, the receptionist was very unpleasant, like I should not bother calling and leave the patient yelling for help. It sounded like she didn't like her job or didn't want to help patients.

theo seoz

Where do I begin? This hospital lacks compassion and empathy for patients and their families. Many rude staff at this location and they will not follow simple protocols. Doctors fully lack any kind of compassion, even demeaning you in the process. What a shame! Please avoid at all costs. Some of these doctors in the ER are flagged by the CPSO. Many good hospitals in Ontario. What a shame!

Viviane Ishkanian

Worst emergency ever!!! They make you wait hours upon hours, what's the point of me rushing to the hospital, your better off going into a walk in clinic! People everywhere doing nothing

Amanda Tyas

I wish I could give a zero star. Please visit another hospital. I had a hysterectomy here and while my surgeon was great, the after care by the nurses was horrendous. They were rude and it took 30 to 60 minutes for someone to come when I pushed the call button. I spent 2 days on a stretcher in a hallway after my surgery because there were no rooms. Everything was dirty. The nurses didn't care about me at all, made mean remarks. I'm a pretty easy going person and I've never written a review before but I had to about this. It's terrible. I was crying for days at this hospital. I will never go back.

Chris Klutz

The nurses most of the but the doctors have no bedside manner and are rude and talk down to people.

Robie Khoury

Great caring staff, very busy, at times it is overwhelming.

anony mous

I was in the ER in 2015 for mental health issues. The waiting time was not too bad, pretty standard for something that's not immediately life threatening, ladies who helped me with the initial "check-up" were amazing, very nice people. All of the staff were very caring and nice EXCEPT for this one. I was assigned a social worker (something of that sort) and she was awful. Made me cry two times in a span of 5 minutes, berated me, was not helpful at all. I don't have a good relationship with my family and they were not supportive of me at all for getting help, so I had to get a friend to come with me. The social worker proceeded to insult me for not contacting my parents for help. Good environment, staff and waiting times - just the one social worker was absolutely ridiculous and I was told by one of the other staff members that normally people have a problem with her.

Tyler Cloud

just cause you read a book and perform actions that help people doesnt give you the right to abuse people. wwwwwmmaaaaaaa

Cool Guy

Poor staff, unprofessional service. Nurses have attitude. Machines broke during exam. Be ready to change room. I wish we would have any other hospital here.

Donna Nicolaidis

my husband andreas had a lung biopsy today , I can't say enough good things about the nurses volunteers and every single staff member we came in contact with ! it must be a great place to work that everyone are so kind ! thank you everyone , I hope your new year is full of good kind people I know that's how we started our new year

maureen sluman

Took my mom this past Friday to ER on the advise of GP around 4pm. The place was an absolute Zoo. Was only supposed to be an in/our process but spent 4 hours there. Started out with a good nurse and a nasty nurse took over. She was “too busy documenting” to speak with me ????. I worked I. Health care for over 25 years, I get it. But have never seen an ER sept like this or non caring nursing staff like this. It’s very sad. BTW Dr Lau...is amazing. The only good thing about this hospital. This is the second time I took my mom here and so shocked by the place I will not take her back there. Knowing the hospital and sitting back and watching ...wow. That’s all I can say.

Mfragranced Scented

I visited this hospital's ER in the evening. It had a steady flow. I arrived around 8:30/8:40. Was seen by a nurse by 8:50 & registered promptly after. I was sent to fast track where I was seen promptly. My only feedback was an elderly man who had a nose bleed for over an hour his partner reported. Once they were sent in to be seen she began yelling he was going to faint (I assume age/loss of blood). Myself in extreme pain and other patients as well responded to the couple requiring assistance faster then any staff member did. A large 4 seater bench was dragged over by patients for him to sit. The lady was clearly in slight shock to not even a single staff reassuring her. It was minor but when you have an office full of security guards to the right and three nurses behind triage the response and respect was a bit lax. Very unprofessional when good Samaritans in their own pain respond in a hospital ER faster then staff.

Paul K

Treated my mother in law excellent after heart surgery. The nurses were great.

6.5 hrs for bloodwork and a chest xray...due to chest pain. Had to have my blood taken twice as they said they sent my initial blood readings to another hospital and they couldn't test it?! I cant believe I haven't seen a doctor yet, I'm approaching 7hrs. Ridiculous.

Jeff Dubbs

The nurse jammed my nose painfully for an unnecessary covid 19 test and was a real b I tc h when I asked her how long the result would be. Didn't even need the test in the first place total waste of my time

Giv Bahram

Abusing nurses, insulting physician and neglective superviser and manager. Is it a hospital in the heart of Ontario or a hospital in a third world country? Someone has to stand against this cruelty. With a lot of clinical evidences, I am looking for a social dedicated lawyer. I don´t want that things that happened for me, happen to others.

Hanna Baket

Don't ever come here.... trust me you'll be better just to die. These doctors here are so rude and just don't care at all about you. It's like they want you to die

Nickolas “MustardWolf”

Well this just in my mother had a ruptured appendix removed there 4 days later goes back with abdomen pain goes to emerge 9 30am Jan 4 2019. Was told she needs to be admitted it's now Jan 5 9:03 am she just got moved out of emerge and finally into a room. Canadian health care at it's finest.

The emergency is pretty good. The nurses are friendly and the doctors are fantastic. The emergency is always efficient and out of the 4 times I have been there, it was always a quick wait. I would give this hospital a higher rating if my recent experience wasn’t a bad one and didn’t leave me with my body full of bed bug bites. I told the nurses, they came to look and said “we don’t see any bugs”, this was after I saw one crawling across the bed along with blood streaks and poop droppings. After I freaked out and said I was calling the infection control, they moved my roommate to isolation and moved me to another room with a woman who pees all over the place and in a room that smells like old urine. They said they would take care of the bed but issue but I never saw it and don’t believe they did anything. So now, that floor is infested with bedbugs because I wasn’t taken seriously. I am beyond disgusted!

Kandas Roberts

Went to emerge at 5.30 a.m the place was empty, and i dont just mean of patients there were no nurses behind desk for 45 mins.

(Translated) My child had a fever and went to the emergency department of this hospital. The doctor said nothing was wrong, and if we didn’t do the test, he said that there was a problem with our parents. Then we couldn’t go to the clinic and quickly found out that it was a bacterial infection. The clinic doctor immediately prescribed medicine and said it was necessary. The treatment cannot be delayed. The level of doctors in Canada is really different. The level of doctors in Southlake is too poor and there is no medical ethics. If the patient is sick and you are not sick, how did you graduate? ? ? ? How can you be a doctor, it's too harmful! ! ! ! ! The level is too bad, too bad, too bad!!!!! Rubbish! ! !

Ershad K

For the past 15 years, my family and I have received excellent care at this hospital. Many of the issues we read in the news don't appear to be a problem at Southlake. Cheers to the hard working staff and management! Their processes should be used elsewhere in the province.

Jean-Jacques Fraenkel

I have been to this hospital on numerous occasions for myself and family members. Waits can be long depending on the volume of patients. The system works very much better than other hospitals in terms of communications, patient flow, information transfer, staff retention of your symptoms and needs, follow up with doctors and interns. Southlake utilizes a series of processes organized for efficiency with the patience in mind. There are only two areas that I would say are lacking; food and ability to tie food requirements of patients to choices and the fracture clinic - constant x-rays even in areas not affected and lack of advise or information of injury need a review. I am not so inclined to be treated in hospitals other than Southlake Newmarket. Keep up the great work.

Sam V

Worst experience with the emergency department. Very unorganized. I waited 3 hours for blood sample.

liem nguyen

I have been infected with covid-19 UK strains. I was in a deep coma after 6 days of infection. I am very grateful to the doctors and medical staff here. They conscientiously and conscientiously saved my life from the hands of death. My family also received care and encouragement from the medical team, doctors here. We are so grateful! I pray for you all to stay healthy! I love you guys!

Alf Buddy

Very disappointed in the Eating Disorders Program. My daughter has had no support. Psychiatrist is invisible. Would recommend sick kids or north York general instead.

H K

1 out of 5 star is too good for this filthy facility. some of the nurses are known for mistreating patients especially elderly (as I once witnessed). Do not take your elderly loved ones there for respiratory ailments, they will not have a doctor on hand. I rather witter away at home than be taken to this place.

Deborah Tennant

My husband was admitted last Wednesday evening after a car accident. When my daughter and I arrived to see him, the young woman at the reception was very friendly and helpful. We were told to see the person at Registration to find out where my husband was. She was (apparently) busy doing something else ( it didn’t look like it) and she didn’t acknowledge our presence. When we finally said, “Excuse me, can you help us?”, she raised her head and spoke to us in a way that suggested we had just interrupted her in the middle of surgery. People in these positions need to remember that we are not there because we want to be; a touch more compassion than snarky rudeness would be appreciated. The first point of contact in any given situation is the one that you remember most. The nurses and doctor were great.

Mina Rahimi

My brother-in-law was in this hospital couple months ago he was fine but they make him disable now he cannot talk or walk anymore stuff is the worst stuff I’ve never seen a staff like this hospital they don’t talk nice with any patients or visitors and now my father-in-law is in the hospital they’re not letting us to see my father-in-law he was fine now they’re sayinghr have a couple hours live he will die soon The doctors doesn’t know anything The worst hospital in my life

Raj Nithi

Very friendly and caring staffs

Mika Selister

Omg I love this

Babak S

Emergency staff are just fine, not very friendly, just doing their job. Emergency doctors are rushed to discharge the patients. They may spend less than a 1 minute talking to each patient and quickly jump to conclusion. I have two bad experiences, with different doctors for different problem few months apart each other. I will not go back there again.

I can't thank this hospital and its staff enough. I had the best experience with them. it didn't feel like I was in the hospital

ER Nightshift treated me courteously however after day shift came in I was treated with utter disrespect. Person that called to discuss my experience implied I was lying to her and also ended our conversation with "I don't have time".

Worse hospital i have been ever visit, dr did producers yesterday, still i dont know the results i asked nurses and other dr that i saw they dont the results as well, they want me to stay in hospital, to be under supervision, but since Wednesday that i am here i saw only 1 dr since which was today, i nevere ever come back here. I hope someone can do something for this hospital

My mom's walker was stolen after a volunteer said it could be left at the desk and they refuse to replace it. Not to mention how she was treated after heart surgery and ashing after hip surgery. I mean come on they stoped her and left her for hours on a bed pan unacceptable. Disgusted with the treatment at this place and staff are not much better #shameful #disrespectful

cainesln

Project coordinator at south lake hospital for the chemo section is the rudest person I have ever met in my life. There is not one ounce of customer service or compassion with this lady. She speaks to you in a condensending dismissive way. When people are going through treatment they do not need to be harassed by someone of this nature and will be taken up to the highest level possible to complain.

Have had to go to the ER twice, initial time was a bit of a bad go, nurses and staff were nice, doctor was a bit of a fool. Second time everyone was amazing, bloodwork was pain free, was in and out with multiple tests in an appropriate amount of time and everyone was beyond nice, possibly better experience because I didnt end up with the same doctor as the first time.

Very clean and organized...Very quick also

The staff member we dealt was was exceptionally unhelpful and very combative. She had zero empathy with the situation we were dealing with.

My wife and I would like to to thank the staff at Southlake Regional Health Center for their kindness and caring during my wife Anne's recent surgery. We would like to especially thank Chris (Christine) and Kim in Surgical Admissions (2nd Floor) for their kind support and reassurance as well as Marg, who is an exceptional nurse in the recovery ward, for her thoroughness, kindness and emotional support. All your effort is greatly appreciated.

David Papa

Few months back, I was at the emergency. I spend 7 hours there in pain and no much help. I fell on the floor and they threatened me that if i didn't get up they would call the security to escort me out. I told them that I couldn't and need it their help to get up. They refused and they told me that it wasn't their job to help me get up. After all this time, they told me that there was nothing wrong with me. Later that day I went to another hospital where I had an urgent surgery for my issue. This people are the worst and looks like they hate their job.

I had to go to Emergency on Friday for a medical problem I was having. Nurse Joan Stockley was appointed to look after me during my stay. . She was extremely professional. pleasant and very helpful. I was quite impressed with SouthLake and staff and would recommend to everyone. Thank you so much.

I was admitted on Nov 25th for knee replacement surgery, something that was forthcoming for years. Once I arrived it was as though I was being cared for like I was family. When Peter guided me to the surgical floor he made me feel that way, kind, caring and at ease. Once the op was complete I was shuttled to 3rd floor recovery. I was made to feel comfortable and cared for. Knowing it was a long day without food or drink, one of the nurses even went to Tim's for a coffee. Wow....now that was remarkable. My two day visit was exceptional. Just like Peter told me when I arrived...we are one big family here....and that's how I felt.

The worst ER ever!!! We took our son there during the weekend due to high fever and they checked everything and said it is nothing serious. They even told us we don't need to give him Tylenol although he had a 40 degree fever. After 2 days when we saw no improvements we took him to family doctor and they instantly diagnosed ear infection!! Southlake people check his ears and said nothing is wrong!! How is this even possible?!

Rachel Giln

Emergency docs and nurses are cold-hearted liars. Came here with my son who broke his arm (visibly bent) with our own icepack. When our pack melted, we asked for an ice pack several times from different nurses and doctors, all of whom shut us down quickly by saying there's no ice and left. We asked the attending doctor for ice since his arm was swollen to almost thrice his normal size and he said there's no ice but treatment would be quick. In the end, WE WAITED FOR FIVE HOURS WITH OUR SON IN PAIN. In the end, an elderly female volunteer helped us obtain an ice pack after we explained our long wait and situation. Useless medical staff. Bless your volunteers though.

Nothing but great things to say about all the staff. They treated me excellent.

The care I recieved after having Open Heart surgery to replace my aortic valve (by Dr. Peniston, who did a great job) was wonderful! They have a well choreographed team that flowes in and out seamlessly and always know what is going on with each patient. The nurses are compassionate and caring, and always take the time you need, even though I'm sure they are stretched thin these days. Awesome Work. You are all appreciated!

These Doctors are more there for the money than actually helping out their patient. It feels so rushed . I don't know their names. Asian Doctor with long hair in the ER. Rushes you and wants you out, even on serious illnesses and Dr Creighton. He saw my mother and his eyes were so red I thought he was high. My mother came in for back pain did a Ct Scan to find out she has a tumor and right away he sends her home. On my kids these Doctors in this hospital need to be investigated on how fast they get the patient to leave. Disgusting. Google Dr. Creighton Hui. He has misconduct and 200 k in fines

Great place. Have been here a few times with couple of small things and usually in and out in half an hour to an hour. If you come in the morning line ups usually are not too big. Doctors are always nice and polite.

Jean Berezowski

From the time I walked into the hospital this morning for a knee replacement with Dr. Lindsey I have been treated with professionalism, and respect. I can't speak highly enough of all the care givers that have made my experience tolerable. Thank you one and all, you have never let our families experiences down

ruby sedore

Went to emergency dept. this morning. Fast and efficient. I had been diagnosed with strep throat earlier in the week. My symptoms got progressively worse. Thanks to Doctor Eddie Chan I got the proper diagnosis and the correct medication. After one dose I started to feel better. Thank you Dr. Chan and staff for covering all the bases. Much appreciated. I read on the website that it was drive thru COVID-19 testing. I got here and it is no longer drive thru. You have to call the number on the sign and register to reserve your spot! It also said that it was 24/7 testing. The hours for testing ARE actually 9AM - 9 PM. Just a heads up to anyone trying to get a COVID-19 test done!

Should have options for negative stars. The only reason I chose even 1 star because that's the only way this would post. Too many severe incidents caused by lack of care and negligence. My brother is going through hell right now because a stupid, irresponsible mistake that a doctor made . We will be pursuing this will the hospital, the College of Physicians and the Ministry of Health. Enough!

May Del

My mom had a booked appointment with Dr. Rahimi for her galbladder and I can't express how thankful I am for all the care and treatment received from him and the amazing nurses at Southlake. Special thanks to Kim, Anne and Anne-Marie for being so kind, patient and professional. You guys rock!! Thank you for your service! :) P.s thanks for offering warm blankets.

gary jay

I had a nurse who wasn't even taking care of me start an argument with me. I couldn't believe it - and mostly because she had seniority I guess! Another time I was being taken care of at least 3 things went wrong, like not getting ice for an injured back, poor communication skills from the hospital staff. The recent doctor I met in Psychiatry had the worst soft skills ever. Otherwise, the Emergency dept. is great and other Doctors and staff too. Sunny brook is run way better!

Noah D.

Could not speak more highly of the nurses working at the Pediatric Oncology Unit. They are extremely caring, and there is a lovely retiree who continues to volunteer to keep kids company in the waiting room. They take patients in quickly, respond to emails promptly and have tons of amenities such as drinks, snacks, games, and good furniture in the unit. Sometimes there is a bit of beurocracy sometimes, but it's to be expected when everyone needs to be extra sure that the job is done right and the people who need help fast get it.

Prasath Kugananthan

The nurses at the Birthing Unit are amazing! The level of care they provided to my wife and newborn child was first class!

A couple of days ago l had the misfortune of having a bad fall. 60 yr old in poor health. Waited for a long time in the front door office . 10 people ahead of me on the ticket system they have there. It was very busy . I couldn't sit and had trouble standing . When l saw the first nurse at the window l told her l was in alot of pain and had trouble breathing. Seemed it didn't matter follow the purple foot prints to what they call fast track. It was chaos. Took all l had to get there. A lady with crutchs offered to help me as even she could see l was in distress. People who came in after were being seen first . I asked a nurse if they had made a mistake. ...she said no ....timestamp but l beg to differ. My arm and wrist had open wounds which was noted on my file but seems it wasn't noticed. Seemed like more of a get together at the nurses station. Dr was super busy but to send me for x-rays was all he could do for me.The only sign l saw for fastrack was a nurse husband and daughter who didn't seem to have to put her file on the desk and grab a seat. She said hi to the nurses as she paraded past us all in search of her friend the Dr. The nurse at the desk could see as l was standing there watching that l was upset at what l had just seen. I muttered under my mask and she heard me. Then l get the xray fracture rib . Here are some pain good look with it haveca nice day . You think what they charge ohip for a visit would also include cleaning and dressing my wounds. Walked out in disbelief. Good luck that's all l say say

Staff is rude and not considerate of families' situations. Very unpleasant hospital and tends to lack basic respect and kindness. Appalled to experience this in a hospital. Try to go to another hospital if possible - it will save you a traumatic experience.

Have been going to the hospital with my wife at least 6 times during this pandemic. She have extreme agoraphobia and cannot be places with out some one close. Today they decide to deny my presence with numbers super low. There policy needs to change I feel like there's boundries between her and her healthcare. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexander H

It's a friendly place my mother is coming in for surgery this morning I do have a suggestion though the interview process should be done during the check in when you get on the second floor just like how they do in the emergency room we have been waiting here for 1.5 hours and still no one has called the interview lady's are just sitting and talking . Just a friendly suggestion

Hermi Tose

If you're looking for a Hospital where you're treated like a burden and a piece of garbage look no further! This place is the epitome of terrible. The nurses and doctors in ER (aside from 1 nurse who was a delight) are the most miserable and rude lot of people you'll ever have the pleasure of dealing with. Had to go here a couple of times in a short span of time and after the last time we just up and left before getting seen. One nurse went as far as getting mad at me for not being able to answer one of her questions. The only thing that made any of the trips tolerable were the nice conversations with the other patients. This place is not somewhere you want to be, and that's not because it's a Hospital. Avoid these rude and ignorant people if you can and go somewhere you will be treated as a patient and not a burden. (that's not to say all the staff are like this, just you know.. almost all.)

Kaitlyn P

Was very dissatisfied with how we were ignored, told to wait when we brought my 2 day old baby into the er . With having seizures more frequently and longer it took them forever to look at him. When they put the chest sticker things on they used adult ones , which stick on way to much for a baby .ripping his skin off

Terrisa Adams

Highly disappointed in their services at the ER last night. I'm a phlebotomist and was shocked at how unsafe and how unhygienic the nurses technique was. He also missed the vein twice and still wanted to try a third time until I asked him to please get someone else. I noticed he was missing other patients frequently as well and same thing kept poking them till they couldn't handle it anymore. Was told that security would escort me out if I asked any more questions because the nurse had no time for my questions while I was just trying to get more info on what was going on with my dad after having waited for over 3hrs. She was yelling and being rude to me and when I calmly called her out on it, to avoid getting in trouble she started loudly telling me to calm down and stop yelling. Luckily lots of people witness to who was really yelling and being rude. Hopefully they can train their employees better in terms of how to treat patients and their family Very upsetting experience

Natalie Cheng

Came here for a potential COVID test. Arrived a few hours before they closed and they wouldn't let us line up, just told us to "come earlier tomorrow".

RAYMOND SULTANA

I could write on for pages about the exceptional care and attention to every detail from the emergency staff... Lynda and Samantha were top notch in having to deal with my issue, even during the most embarrassing moments their attitude and genuine concern was obvious and will be always remembered and appreciated...the nursing staff was burdened with my presence for 7 days and let me state the facts as I witnessed them...people could never imagine what these nurses must endure from violent acts from patients to the elderly who are in constant need for attention...they smiled and cared every minute every day...first class treatment thanks to all

Anna Globa

Birthing unit might be not equipped with super fancy jacuzzis , but my experience there was a 5*! They worked in a team with my midwives, and took good care of me and my baby

Nunya Business

Smokers smoking right out front of the hospital and NO ONE EVER does anything. Smoking all over the grounds including the employees. Called security and they are unwilling to do anything. Have seen them walk right by people smoking. If you are unwilling to do anything about it, remove the signs!!!

Gabriel Elefteratos

The staff from receptionists to nurses and doctors absolutely amazing !

Mariana Rakiteansky

My first visit to SL emergency went beyond smooth. The young, vibrant and pleasant team proceeded me in an hour including an xray, cast and scheduling the next day appointment. Thank you Mariana

Java Chan

My second child was born here, the doctors and nurses were very nice, and my children had been to the emergency room of this hospital several times, It didn't take long time, and the doctors and nurses were really nice

Carmen Malfara

I came thru the emergency on Aug 15th with chest pain... i piked a number and waited for few minutes... was called, explained why i was there and was told to go thru the doors turn right and right again... wow not even got up to show me which doors she was talking about... anyway, got inside, a large group of people was waiting , i was looking around to find what to do with the papers i was holding. eventually another patient showed me the basket on the wall... i took a seat and eventually someone came over and asked me why i was there.... she proceeded to do an ecg and take blood, however she use no cloves... she got a bit of blood on her finger when she put the bandage and she wiped herself on the paper on the bed and said" my hands are clean" REALLY???? while she did the ecg, she asked me what i feel and i told her i was at work and i was having chest pain and i asked my manager to take me to the hospital... the nurse said " thats a good way to skip work".... didn't know how to answer and replied back that i have 28 years of work and i rather be at work then here. SO SAD!!! a great hospital with a reputation that it is being tarnished by a nurse that should not be allowed to work in the health system when diseases are all over and so easy to transmit something by not using protection. It is not right to put so many people at risk>>> wash hands and wear gloves is a must in a hospital, especially in the emergency department.

Bad service. You would think that hospital staff would treat people with compassion especially support given to older people. Older people may not comprehend as well as younger people. It seems COVID is an excuse for everything now but it is not the only disease. At present, pretty much most of the front line workers/hospital staff are vaccinated. Even if they dont want to deal with people at least ensure the information or next steps is shared as a leaflet/piece of paper.

My father inlaw was admit on Saturday morning it's now Monday night and he's still on a bed in the hallway !! He might get a room tonight or tomorrow morning! This is what we have to look forward to when we get old after working and paying taxes our whole life!

I went in on Sunday with a very sore neck. The pain started to travel into my chest on the left side. Although it was very busy I was quickly moved to get an ecg. Then asked to wait in the internal waiting room. Not even 5 minutes later I was called to blood work. Shortly after that I met with Dr. Lau. He was professional and put me at ease right away. Then I was off to X-ray. They took my blood pressure again and I was told my results were in, they were waiting for the doctor to assess. Maybe 1/2 an hour later I met with Dr.Lau and was told it was a pinched nerve no sign of a heart attack. I was relieved to say the least. Dr.Lau said I was free to go nothing more was necessary and to be safe out there. I thanked him again and left with a good feeling that I was in great hands at this hospital. Yes, I was there for about 3 hours but never felt like I wasn’t being looked after. Thank you again!

This hospital is the worst I have ever been in. I had knee surgery on Jan 9 2019 . On jan 11 I had a fever so I called sunny brook hospital where my knee was replaced they wanted me to go to emergency. So I did the biggest mistake I did was going to Southlake. . It was the biggest joke . being a Canadian it really bothers me knowing this hospital is run so bad . I understand other can go before me but when they leave you in fast track lol This has to stop we are Canadians and we are the best in everything. I will not stop complaining until something gets done. Frank

Fracture clinic is ridiculous. Waiting time 2-3 hours even with the appointment. 1 person per hour that's the max speed. So, don't forget to buckle up.

If you can make it to another hospital, do so! Over the several years, I lived in the area I had plenty of trips to this hospital. A few pregnancies, a few losses, a few kids born, an ectopic, a few surgeries and plenty of ER runs. Out of the dozens upon dozens of trips I cannot recall 1 time where I or my family didn't have to deal with snotty nurses, egotistical and aggressive Dr's or misdiagnosis' that could have had a severe outcome. I've had 1 Dr cancel a c-section without discussion to the Dr who ordered it and then years later tell me I needed immediate emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy only to be left alone in an ER room waiting for said surgery until 1 am the following day. Another incident involved another Dr in 2011. I was pregnant with my son and was seen by my OBGYN complaining about a hot red spot in the back of my right leg. He said it was likely a pulled muscle and that he would check on it the next visit if it was still bugging me. Several days later I was taken into the ER by ambulance struggling to breathe & sent up to L&D because I was past 20wks. I told them it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. My OBGYN was called in and said it was likely the position of the baby and I looked too ok to be having issues. I didn't feel comfortable leaving and asked them to do more tests. I was sent for a nuclear lung scan and sure enough was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism in my lung. Without treatment it could have killed my baby and I. Just stay clear!

This hosptial has the worse fracture clinic ever they book you for an appt you end up waiting 4+ hours nurses at this clinic are extremely rude will never go back to this place HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

I am in the area as my grandfather is dying of lung cancer who has only days left. I drove out from Carrying Place and my meds ran out and my family md went on vacation and isnt back till the 17th. I came to the hospital to receive help with my prescription until my family doctor returns. All the nurses were supportive and understood the severity of my situation HOWEVER a doctor by the name of R.Waghmare argued with me while explaining my situation, the doctor was very cold hearted and showed no compassion and kept saying policy this and that. I did not recieved much needed medications, as I didn't want to kill myself then dealing with that cold hearted doctor sure make me wish I was dead as I will now be in utter agony until my grandfather passes or my doctor gets back on the 17th of march. I urge you all unless you are dying there are far more equipt doctors that know alot more then the general passing the physician exam. im on disability and dont have income to pay your ridiculous parking its not worth it furthermore I am going to be calling low and high. We are anonymous,.we do not forgive we do not forget EXPECT ME!

O

They are the absolute worst hospital ever. A petition needs to be signed to shut them down for life and disperse the real professionals among their departments to put to other top hopistals. 90% of the doctors working here are an absolute joke and are out for lunch, literally!!! I lost my goddaugther to an incompetent doctor here. Please take action someone.

Joffy John

Please dont choose this hospital ,staff of this hospital doesn't take of care of patients, lack of knowledge nurses who are working in Emergency.Client does not have OHIP and paid 420 dollars and waiting them for 7-8 hrs for a critical condition when we ask why this much late there answer is this is canada you have to wait.I doesn't seen these type of idiots working in medical profession.

Debbie Sharman

I am very happy to say that the care I received from the nursing staff at Southlake Hospital was outstanding! I was admitted for approximately one week after an emergency surgery on an incarcerated hernia. I could not have asked for better, non judgmental help....from the smallest request to bringing me cups of ice chips and ice water to helping me with embarrassing situations. Every nurse I encountered on day and night shift was extremely patient, helpful and friendly.

B Wilson

Third child born here was a good experience overall

Sarah Richards

Tried to come in and bring my grandfather a bag of his necessities before he gets transferred to rehab and I was denied access.. when with full prove of vaccination. Pathetic

Read the article in the globe about Dr who is alleged not to have hired a female Dr in the emerge. Stressed simple problem patients. Meant more bonuses. Any resulting action is a result of newspaper not concern by hospital. In 16 years of operating the emerge dept the hospital never noticed or followed up on complaints A disgrace.

Tammy F

lazy and negligent nurses and lack of Drs and specialists on hand when you need them. you ought to be ashamed of yourselves for your lack of care and service when dealing with the sick and elderly.

Adele Boulding

From stepping off the elevator in the Medical Arts Building to getting back on to go home I had a very positive experience. I was pleasantly greeted at reception, once inside the waiting room the volunteers and nurses were cheerful and informative. During my procedure the staff ensured I was as comfortable as possible. The care from the nurses in recovery was amazing and explained what I could expect. Well done Southlake!

Wish I could give it 0. Sent there for thyroid biopsy over 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks later get a report stating no hematoma at the site but no biopsy reports. Called diagnostics and the rude reception nurse says its not their issue if the sample didn't go to the lab. Then directed to health records who said there's no indication the biopsy was sent to the lab or out to be tested. Had no idea what I should do. Same run around was given to my dr. Now suggesting my dr refers me for "another biopsy" No empathy, care or concern for patients and really WTF do you mean you don't know where the biopsy is and its not your problem.

J Shelton

All though the nursing staff and surgical Dr were great, the hospital efficiency on putting my son in a room is disgusting. He arrived at the hospital at 545 am for surgery at 8. He had completed surgery and was placed in recovery at 930. All went well. His room was suppose to be ready for approx noon but yet as of now(622pm) he is still waiting in recovery for a room because his bed had been given to the wrong person who arrived and had surgery after him. Was it a screw up on the staff absolutely, has it been corrected absolutely not. His insurance company is paying for a bed in a room he has yet to acquire. Unacceptable

michelle obama

if you have a mental illness, DO NOT GO TO THIS INPATIENT PROGRam. i went there thinking that i was going to get therapy and/or someone to talk to. all they do is put you in a room and give you meds. i was there for 5 days. did absolutely nothing but sleep and read 17 books. please take my advice, especially since the walls in the room said really depressing stuff

Sandra Y

My son turned one this month. I finally got a chance to write a review about southlake. I delivered my son there last July. Nurses Leann & Megan were fantastic and super helpful. Dr.Peter Watt was very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. They were the ones who made the whole experience great! I think I am so lucky to have them delivered my son. Thank you, Leann& Megan & Dr. Watt!

Sonya Hunt

The care in emerge is very sad to say the least. They have a posting to say how the doctors need to care and respect patients etc.. but the care received is not good. How about some compassion and kindness towards patients. How about checking in when patients have been waiting for hours on end. Simple kindness and true caring go a long way but can not be found here. Although there are good doctors here, you will be lucky to get one. Most have no time to listen or care and an example would be (and I have many) my grandmother, 85 years old with blood pressure well over 200 was left in a chair all day and all night with no food, no water and no care then sent home. Only to end up in Richmond Hill hospital blind and sicker than she should have been had she got simple care. I would not even give this hospital 1 star. And although complaints are given, they do not seem to care! Worth driving elsewhere then to this place.

Vanessa Vernick

If you're hoping to go to this ER for severe mental health concerns, don't bother. Last summer, 2018, I arrived into the emergency department for being suicidal - I was also experiencing severe psychosis, hearing voices telling me to hurt myself, and experiencing terrifying delusions. I have diagnosed schizophrenia. I was under so much stress that I wasn't eating (lost nearly 15 pounds in weeks), and was at times completely unresponsive. My mind had shattered. Southlake's ER department did not admit me, but rather sent me home without antipsychotics. Twice. Over the years, I've had two major episodes both which required hospitalization (at different hospitals - which were fantastic), and neither were nearly as bad as this past episode. It's a year later and I'm stable, but it blows my mind that a schizophrenic psychotic break did not qualify as a mental health emergency, or require an inpatient stay. So, my advice...if you're struggling with any kind of mental health emergency and need immediate psychiatric care, RUN to another hospital. I will say, however, I am now accessing the outpatient services upstairs (no thanks to the ER department), and they're fantastic. But my experience specifically with the emergency was an absolute nightmare that almost cost me my life and my sanity.

Geri Lovsin

Disrespectful staff here. I have had nothing but bad experiences at southlake hospital, if you care about your health or loved ones go down to Alexander Mackenzie in Richmond hill. These people at southlake will let you die and after time of death proceed to ask what your symptoms are. Incompetent people.

I was taken by Ambulance to Southlake on October 31st 2021 as I had fallen on October29th. I was in ttemendois pain and had extreme swelling. . When I related to the Dr. That although my hip had been very painful for years this was something else altogether, it was extremely painful and well beyond anything I had ever evperenced.I was given an xray which revealed a hip so deteriorated it was only half there and and my pelvis was out of alignment (although they missed this completely. I was treated as drug seeker although clearly displaying a half of a hip and major swelling. I was in tremendous pain. They sent me on my was with a medication for Psychiatric patients and extra strength Tylenol. I continued to try and walk on this for another 12 days later. I was staying at a DV Shelter at that time. I knew something was very wrong so I had no choice but to leave the shelter and made my way at extreme cost both financially and physically to a different hospital where I was treated for pain and given a CT scanI, within hours I found out I had been walking with a broken pelvis for 12 days and needed a hip replacement. The hospital I turned to after South Mistake Hospital admitted me and have been the most humane experience I have ever had. South Mistake Hospital is the worst Hospital I have ever been in, In all of 5 Provinces and really need lessons in Medical Practice, Compassion, Empathy and Decency towards Patients. In my opinion it's better to not receive any treatment at South Mistake as it truly is a place lacking in all things Humane. During this visit I have to wonder how someone to my condition would be treated so inhumane weather a person who used drugs (which I do not should be left to suffer. Anyone in my condition despite circumstances I just referred to does not deserve to be left treated with such disregard for Medical Care and concern. I am fortunate I did not hav suffer the complications of a blood clot which is very probable with such an injury. I am now recovering in hospital care for a hip replacement which was was a medical emergency Do not go here and never take loved ones here as lack of Medical Capability is non existant. I would give a No Star but Reviews will not allow posting unless there is at least 1 star chosen.

I went to this hospital thinking I would get immediate help for a cut to the face of my 3 year old child who was bleeding from face but instead we were delayed while the nurses at the triage were going about doing personal things not giving any attention to the pain and agony we were going through as parents. After multiple approaches triage nurse very rudely ordered us to keep quiet and got the security guards involved who acted like robots and threatened to arrest us for tresspassing. I have never seen any hospital staff acting so insensitive and inhumane. Shame on Southlake Hospital management. Disgusting conduct!

JWB B

I haven’t been there for care, but how does this hospital lay off so many nurses at this time? 97 nurses gone. According to the Ontario Nurses Association, that is 176,000 hours of nurse to patient care. I know nurses, some of them don’t get a break in a 12 hour shift, now this!?!? Maybe they will replace them with less qualified people, so the 176,000 hours may be void, but is this what is best? Insanity. It’s like having someone who rotates tires for a living rip apart your car’s engine to replace a head gasket. (Not so) well done Southlake.

saida mohamadi

Oh my God!Tribble experience from this hospital . South lake hospital should not be existed. It's worse. ER waiting time is 8 to 9 hours even for serious illness. Because there is only one Dr is working .then Each 3 floors have one or may be maybe 2 Dr's. Dr's are brand new from university. Not enough experienced. And also 20 times call a nurse then they might come .and doesn't completely finish the job they run away . Tribble hospital ever! .this hospital didn't have the patient medication in their stock and their pharmacy was closed.so patient missed 2 days 2 doses of the same medication .now I leave up to you if you go their or not . South Lake Tribble hospital ever!!

rosy asef

I went there with many pain and stutter because of brain attack , at 5:45 on Sunday November 19th , but the nurse in triage 1 has very bad behaviour and I left there without any results. They didn't say apologize and just asked me for signing for checking out!!!!!

Walter McWilliams

Took my wife for a CT scan scheduled later on a Sun evening. Wonderful time to go. No traffic. No other patients. The lady technician was polite and helpful. The front security guard very attentive and helpful. Excellent experience.

Dani

Just wanted to leave a review. I had an emergency surgery here after getting hit by a car and everyone was super incredible, helpful and kind. The surgeon and his team did an amazing job fixing my leg and all the nurses did their best to attend to my needs despite their heavy workload. Thank you so much for your help during a scary time.

Navraj Singh

Doctor and nurses are very good.

Alex W.F.

This is a world class hospital. They do not treat you like a patient, but like a king or queen that you once wanted to become. Staff is extremely pleasant and they make sure you feel safe and sheltered for as long as you stay. My baby will be arriving in a couple of months and I am looking forward to another great experience.
