Four only because security, not nurses, should be more visible when visitors crowd rooms. Great quality of care from all nurses and doctors. Always friendly and efficient. ONE issue....last night here, 2:00a.m. nurse comes into room to say they're bringing in a patient. 2:30 brought in patient.. Turned on lights and spent forty minutes going over information I would have thought they got in emergency. I'm re covering from a surgery. I don't need to catch a bug here. They bring in a patient hacking, coughing, and wheezing. Her husband comes to visit, he's in worst shape than she is. Just went back to Room as I'm waiting for a release..there are now six people in there...all hacking and reeking of smoke. So now I'm waiting elsewhere. Common sense people! Be respectful.

Well again this place is a disappointment, and a joke. Don't know why i think it will change. Brought my 82 year old mother here and i had to sit in my car, she sat and waited to see a doctor for 4 hours, while a little girl that looked like she hurt her toe came in after us was in and out in less then a hour. Its pretty sad when born and raised here and this is the service she gets. Agree or disagree i don't care,

I had an outpatient procedure done and the nurses, doctors, volunteers and even the cleaning staff did an outstanding job. They are all well educated in their associated fields, profficient, skilled and very personable.

Just wanted to point out the fact that not one single person that works there has any respect for their patients. It made me sick watching the way they talked down to my boyfriend who has just suffered from a seizure and is recovering from it. They talked to him like he's stupid, and they smirk and asume that everytime he moved he was going to ask a question so they would just shout out no. Worst staff there ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'd think they'd actually have simpathy for their sick and dying patients but no!!!!

Jaimee Clarkson

Worst hospital ever. Doctor was rude and took four hours to prescribe benadryl... Will never come back.

Since the ER dept does not ask for feedback, I'll provide it here. I arrived in emerg on a fairly quiet Sat morning with a quadricep issue. Susan at reception was very helpful then waited about 20 min for Triage then into a curtained examining room. Sandra, the ER nurse was very helpful. Another 20 min and the ER doctor looked at both legs and asked what happened. I described my fall and tearing sensation and audible popping. She wrote down quad sprain and explained there was only one tech who could ultrasound limbs and I would be called 'next week'. That was it. I asked if the delay in getting the ultrasound would effect the treatment and she said no. I then asked about a wrap and she said I could ask for one. I got a call the next week to come back 13 days after the injury for the ultrasound. Today was that day and I learned I have a partial detachment requiring surgery which best practice says should happen as soon after the injury as possible. The ultrasound tech says a scan could have been scheduled 'the next day' if the ER doctor had requested it. Bottom line: avoid Bracebridge Hospital if at all possible. Go to Orillia.

Worst experience. Once I was told a doctor was coming to see me it ended up taking over two and a half hours in emergency. I had a swollen neck and severe pains in my back and they said it was a cold. I never want to go back.

A stellar experience in the emergency department this week. Gratitude and appreciation for the team at South Muskoka Memorial. From the first point of contact to the triage nurse to the other nurses and doctor that I got seen by, I was treated safely (layers ofpof protocols in place) professionally, thoroughly and kindly. I receivedtreceived help I needed and was able to pass on the information to my GP straightforwardly.

I am from the city and found more care and attention here than in Ajax or Oshawa. The wait time and triage seemed much shorter also. Hours shorter.

Waited 6 hours in the hospital with my 11 month old son. Before that I went to shoppers to see about getting pink eye drops for him, the pharmacy told me he had an infection in his eye and needed antibiotics. So after waiting the 6 hours, the doctor came in and did everything really fast. Told me he had pink eye and had clear discharge coming out of his eyes, you could clearly see it was bright green. Also said that it want oozing out of his eyes alot, meanwhile I had obviously been wiping his eyes so he could see. So all that came out of that was that he had a "cold" and that antibiotics would work, but only a little faster than leaving it alone. Hes a baby, yes I would have rathered him be in less discomfort. I mentioned how he was pulling on his ears and he didnt even check them. And when he was almost done I said that I noticed little red dots that look like a rash or chicken pocks on his bum. He cut me off saying that it wasnt an emergancy and that the emergancy department doesnt know anything about rashes, and that "they are stupid when it comes to rashes". So he didnt even bother looking at my kids "rash" or possibly the start of chicken pocks.

My recent experience was that the Doctors, Nurses and all the Support Staff were kind, compassionate and professional. The hospital was clean and the food was actually decent. I strongly believe that more funding should go to our hospitals, to medical science, and to the professionals who staff them. These good people work miracles and are under appreciated. My endless thanks and admiration go out to them!

I was brought to this hospital because I was in crisis an suffering mental illness. Point one, point two they do not treat mental illness here. Point three a nurse or doctor or crisis worker never spoke to me. Point five they have no bed rail policy here I fell out of the bed an smashed my head on the floor.

Almost 2 hours laying in ER before any one came along, heard a lot of nurses talking and laughing about cottages, social media and sunglasses. And it was not busy.

The staff, nurses and doctors were all very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this hospital to anyone who have small children. The youthful stop at emergency were very kind to my daughter and made sure that she was doing well. They also gave her paw patrol stickers.

Sharon in Diagnostic Imaging is the nicest, kindest and most understanding staff member..... she loves her job- and it shows by her empathy. She makes a very unpleasant procedure easier to bear and for that, I am thankful. I wish more people at this hospital were like Sharon. Maybe one suggestion to review material in the waiting area- my magazine was all about bad doctors who poison their patients and deliberately misdiagnose for profit!!

renata zychla

Very, very long wait time!!! Not too busy, but they make people wait for hours! If you can wait until next day to see your doctor don't go there!!! No one will tell you how long you will have to wait.

I'm writing this just 12 hours after being discharged from recovery at South Muskoka because I have to share how great of an experience I had here (also because I can't sleep lol). I went in around 9am on a Wednesday with what I was pretty sure was an abscessed cyst and a low grade fever, painful and very uncomfortable. I interacted with probably 10 staff members overall, mostly nurses, an ultrasound technician and later on my surgeon and anaesthetist + surgery team, and all were so pleasant and informative. I wish I could remember all of their names! I was the only patient in intake at the time and from the time I came in to the time I was in a bed was less than an hour. I ended up being there a while overall but my case was a bit complicated and I was never alone without info for more than 20 minutes. It was made sure that I was comfortable at all times. I'm used to Toronto hospitals and this was such a breath of fresh air. I ended up having to go under for surgery which I didn't expect going in, but I was so confident that I was going to be well taken care of that I was never too anxious, even having never been put under anesthesia prior. All went well and Dr. Gupta performed my surgery, he was great and I'm just so thankful for all of the staff here for making my first ever surgery experience a really positive one. I wasn't even sure about going to an ER for the issue but I am so so glad that I did. Thank you all!!!

Katarina Kulchycki

I'm currently writing this in their completely empty waiting room - i am and have been the only one here for at least 20 minutes - and have still yet to see a doctor. I came in to emerge to be greeted by lovely people, and was shown their very clean waiting area. If you are not in a hurry I'd recommend coming here, however for an emergency issue you might have more luck driving to Toronto; you'll see a doctor faster. Update: they just informed me that it is an hour plus wait, and the nurse who brought me to the room was extremely condescending and kept cutting me off. Definitely would recommend going somewhere else or even just cutting off your afflicted area.

i am not surprised by the very low reviews. very bad hospital. go to orillia if you can make it.

The Emergency staff are an absolute joke at this hospital. They are more concerned with talking about their social life than perform work. The centre work pod is more like a playground for these workers. Read the reviews and you’ll instantly see the main grievance of past patients is nurse behaviour. Spoke with a Manager to tell my experience. They claim it will be looked into. Whatever - they won’t even be spoke to - the union environment ensures that. I left and drove to Orillia to see professionals. AVOID THiS SHAM of a Health Centre

Mark Mcada

waited 6 hrs for a torn clavical. Time before that 4.5 hrs w a herniated disc in my neck. Time before that 4.5 hrs with daughter who had a major concusion whom i drove versus waiting for ambulance. they expect you to sit and stair at the wall while freezing to death while they avoid you. Never had a positive experience at this hospital. Now I know why everyone here says go to Huntsville or Orillia!

Ed Tee

Just found out a friend was sent home by them and quickly returned for the same issue.

Winter Dyer

So appointments don't mean anything, you can be scheduled for a certain day and time and they will still send you off to a different location just because they don't want to deal with you. I wasn't scheduled anywhere else so I couldnt just walk in like they were telling me I was scheduled at their location but they still sent me on a wild goose chase instead of doing their jobs

Rosemary Corriveau

Excellent service!

My family recently moved to Gravenhurst and I had to take my mother to the hospital one night. We were pleasantly surprised with the level of service at this hospital. The wait was not long as compared to big city hospitals. The nurses and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Goldberg was very kind and thorough. I am glad to know that the community we moved to has such a great hospital.

Janet LeBlanc

Drs great! Physical therapists wonderful, nursing staff unbelievably unhelpful, complacent, with zero compassion. Tonight one actually told me they were “too busy” to arrange for medical transport for my 95 yr old mom who fell and is IMMOBILE and has been lying in a hospital bed on her back in extreme pain for 3 days now to get her to the closest osteopathic surgeon who is at old vets hospital in Orillia. This is something the attending Dr ordered! Plus, the only reason she got the appointment was because I called the specialist directly and they squeezed her in for tomorrow. Otherwise they would see her next week at best as the hospital only sent a referral to them with no mention of my mother’s condition or the urgency of the situation. She is in PAIN! And 95! Otherwise in great health and mental status (retired accounting Professor) They just write her off and keep her drugged - less work for them! She’s a PERSON and MY MOTHER and deserving of CARE! Disgraceful!

Peter Burkitt

We have always found the staff efficient and friendly. If we ever have to go to the hospital this is our number one choice.

harin amin

So unprofessional staff, they even don't know how to treat someone when they are in pain

I went to emergency at Bracebridge Hospital last night. Though few people were there, I was there for 5 hours until 1.30 am. The nurses were not caring, and did not do an adequate triage. The doctor , who was kind, finally saw me briefly saying I needed an ultra sound. One brief look was all it took. No US at that time of night! When first I was taken into the emerge bed, a quick look could have saved 2 hours for my husband and 11 week old puppy in the parking lot. We live 50 minute drive away from Bracebridge. Earlier yesterday morning I had gone to a walk in clinic. They could not see me until the next day, maybe. Is it a DVT or a muscle tear? US will show. The leg is very painful and swollen double the size of my other calf muscle. My husband insisted I stay. I am an 83 year old retired physiotherapist. Now I know why the hospital’s reputation is so so.

Kyle lawrie

Horrible service and treatment from the nurses. Might as well drive to orillia don't waste your time. Under equipped and under staffed, more of a barn then a hospital.

dania O

Very bad experience at the emergency room. After waiting for 5 hours and doing x-ray to my daughter putting her under radiation risks went to the doctor to ask if it will take a long time to see the x-ray she answered me in a very rude, unprofessional and careless way with her high voice and said I have many cases important than you daughter. My question is why she asked for x-ray and putting my 3 years daughter under this risk if she decided that her case is not important. This is not the way I expected from a doctor in Canada.

Literally the worst hospital u will ever visit. Incompetent useless doctors and staff. Waste of your time, any other local hospital is a better choice. If u can speak use your voice and do not let anyone take u to bracebridge hospital. Place should be closed

A note to those that volunteer here. (Shirley) Your role is to assist, give direction to and otherwise be helpful. Not to be bossy! All seats for the fracture clinic were taken. I sat in the end seat of triage, closest to the fracture clinic seating. There were 6 Triage seats, not one of them being utilized, but you insisted I couldn't sit there. I failed to see the problem. You then mentioned several times to me to remove my belongings from the seat next to me, i.e. my purse and heavy winter jacket. *Hello, I have an injury! I did not comply. You asked again, I stated I would move the jacket if/when the seat was required by someone visiting triage. You then snidely said, "Yes, Sir...Yes, M'aam... whatever you want to be called." You then had personal conversations with other volunteers, and I could overhear you muttering to them and anyone that would listen about "the one with the attitude". You made a point of walking directly in front of me requiring me to pull in my crossed leg, so as not to have it walked into by you, despite there being plenty width in the hallway for you to avoid my crossed leg. I don't think I was the one with the attitude, M'aam. BTW, not at any time did anyone come to sit in even one of those 6 Triage seats while I was there! The rest of those who attended to me were very good. On both occasions requiring xray the technician was perfect! Efficient, professional and gentle. Unlike the CT tech, they did not tug, or move the injured limb to the position required, they clearly, gently, requested where it needed to be. *Note to CT Tech and anyone else handling injured parts! There is ZERO privacy in the fracture department! I had to wait 2 hours for casting only because there was a person visiting emerg with impacted ear wax being attended to in the fracture room!

Lisa Marie

I went there with some issues and the end the made me do a covid test omg I should of went home. Just because you have one symptom Does not mean you have covid. My endoscopy Was cancelled oh I was upset I have pain in my stomach I need this treatment done I am very sick if my stomach. Emergency cannot help me. I cannot even do a breath test to. Cancelled. Where can I do a endoscopy? My dr called me to say it was cancelled. Because of covid? That is not right.

Slowest hospital I have ever been to

Well-equipped hospital with full range of diagnostic, emergency and surgical care services.

If they r sick thats why they come to hosp. Plz plz chnge ur staff.

Lisa Charbonneau

what a joke all the money we pay for health care i go there with i assume is a displaced jaw or maybe broken and some joker tells me i need a dentist my teeth are not broken retard when u push on my jaw and a jump off the bed im pretty sure its a jaw issue i dont know where you think my teeth are located so now i have to wait for a real dr to send me for the x-ray that i needed so what a waist of time and money SMMH best thing we could do is close you down because you half ass everything and you dont know jack about the medical field

Shawn

I live in this town and have utilized the emerg dept on several occasions. It is hit or miss for quality of service. Just recently I went in at night for a finger infection and was informed it was serious and why. I was treated well and efficiently with a fantastic young nurse who could teach many veterans how to do a proper painless IV. I returned the following night for a second antibiotic IV injection and a different older nurse must have been in a rush or something with me as the only patient in emerg because she slammed the IV into my wrist and right through my bulging and obvious vein and into the muscle. After a quick 'oops' she forced a second one in below this, no less painful. I've had many IV's, they don't normally hurt this much if at all. I was also put off by the same doctor both nights who decided he was far more knowledgeable about drug allergies than my specialist who is one of only two in the country.

MikeJ

Went in with a broken leg. Took them for ever to see me and they were not very busy. X-ray tecnician was very ignorant and rude.

Brian Kendall

Not a hospital guy. Went in last Sunday with chest pains. Seriously was amazed as to how quickly and professionally I was treated. These people do wonderful work. Very grateful .

Larry Parsons

This hospital is one of the cleanest, friendliest , and highly skilled hospitals I've ever been in. Great Doctors and Nurses, always trying to help! Thank you for being there for people !!!

Mary Sopkowe

Just moved to Bracebridge and needed to go to emergency on a sunday afternoon. They seemed quite busy but were organized. Had to wait to be seen, but that is a foreseeable reason. Doctor was very kind and thorough as were the nurses and xray technician. Happy to have moved to a community with such a great hospital!

My Beautiful and Wonderful Wife has bestowed upon me an amazing selfless gift. She has given me the weekend OFF. I am granted permission to lounge in my La-z-boy recliner in my comfy pants and hoodie to watch movies and sports. To just eat and have no expectations of doing any chores (unless I feel up to it). Tamara Holman is the Best, most loving, caring, considerate, giving and nurturing wife/mother/daughter/sister/friend to ever grace the Earth. That's my humble biased opinion though. ???? Now for my guy friends asking how did I earn such a weekend pass? Simple, all I had to do was give up the opportunity to ever father a child again. Yes this morning I went under the knife and got the routine Vasectomy done. The procedure was nothing, easy peasy my job was to just go to sleep the doctors and nurses handled "IT" from there.???????????? To be honest, for me the mental processing part was the hardest. Am I ok with the thought of never being a dad again? After much soul searching, my conclusion was yes. It's the least I can do for my Amazing wife who birthed two Beautiful children for us. Next process was being alone in a room with 4 strangers, legs strapped in place, shaved private parts exposed, knowing sharp things are going to happen on said bald parts and all the while being put out by a drug. So you can't even be your own witness LOL. Talk about a trust exercise! All in all everything went just fine the mind is a funny place to be. I was happy to do this minor procedure for my wife and I. One weekend of discomfort is small potatoes compared to the 9 months of pregnancy followed by hours of labour our treasured women endure for us men to be dad's. Thank - you to Dr. Drohomyrecky - Urologist/ Surgeon Dr. Richardson - Anesthesiologist The amazing nurses Heather, Amanda and Sam and also to all the Great staff and volunteers in the Surgical Day Care Unit at South Muskoka Healthcare in Bracebrdge. Top notch world class facility and staff. Love you and our beautiful family we created with all my Heart Tamara Holman. ❤❤❤❤❤

This facility does not perform as a normal hospital. Appointments must be made months in advance of service. The administration is pitiful. How can talented doctors be subjected to work with this facility. For example - patients can wait two months for a simple ultrasound. As a service to the community, I would volunteer my time to go in and manage some of the departments to get them on track to being useful. They don't need money - - - they need a committed staff that cares.

Damon Cockburn

The only bad thing that I have to say about the hospital is that their parking system is a bit confusing, other than that I have always had a good experience there.

Grainne Hallman

One of the better hospitals i been in DOCTORS AND NURSES very good and attentive

Celhyn Menendez

Fiancé cut himself with an axe 3 hours later no one has looked at the wound, No one has asked about the level of pain and no one has updated us. You'd think that there being only 1 other person in the waiting room it'd be faster.

Chris Mccready

I have taken my daughter that is a year-and-a-half-old to emerge with pneumonia and make us wait four and a half hours and said she is not priority people need to get their stuff together and that is being polite I would think an infant would have some kind of priority over somebody's sore foot such a shamble of a hospital which I would not call a hospital not impressed with the service of this Hospital and I think from now on we will take our family orilla or barrie where we are treated as humans and not a number

I would give this hospital 0 stars if possible. My fiancé got to the hospital at 5:40pm, it is now 11:40pm. He waited in the emergency room for an hour before being called into the triage room. He waited in the triage room for 4 hours and still waiting. After waiting in the triage for an hour, he approached a nurse, to ask how much longer is the wait and to ask if he can get ice pack because he’s in pain. The nurse, who he thought he could rely on for assistance and help but in return got a rude, unwelcome attitude and was told to go to another hospital if he can’t wait his turn. After that interaction, another nurse approached him and gave him 3 Tylenol + 3 Advil and told him he’s next. An hour goes by, he ask for another update, once again, with attitude and rude response “you are next”. Another hour goes by, same response again. At this point, his hand is getting numb, he is feeling worse than when he came in. After being there for hours, the security guard, gave Emergency services manager number, Rebecca Liebau, and said call her with your problems. This hospital is the worst, they are unorganized, rude, the staff is unapproachable. If you can make it to another hospital, I highly suggest making the drive somewhere else.

Keri Kaulback

Don't come here if you need to see a doctor. Definitely come here if you like wasting your time in the waiting room for hours and still not see a doctor.

Cheryl King

Although the first encounter with the doctor was a bit of a wait,, (over 90 minutes) But I get it! They were busy!! . Afterward they ran a series of tests, X-rays and follow up tests. Kept me informed and apologized for me having to be here so long. Watched many patients come in and be seen within minutes! Great service & super Fantastic nursing staff and hats off to Dr Jules (sp) ?. Informative and understanding. - they even offered me a dinner!!

Mitch

The wait time is ridiculous

Leah B

Had surgery there last week. Felt terrible after but the nurses were excellent and very comforting. They are very nice and great at their jobs!

Just received a phone call to book some testing, the staff member I spoke to was VERY rude and snarky. If you have the choice, go to another hospital..

Haden C

wish I cold do zero stars this hospital and it's doctors is a joke. go for an xray tell me it's not broken.then to break down and go get another xray two and a half months later because still not healing to find out its broke and I need to see a plastic surgeon. thank you for screwing me out of alot of healing time and work DRIVE TO HUNTSVILLE OR ORILLIA AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE IT'S THE PLAGUE WHAT A JOKE. YOU WILL BE RECEIVING A PHONE CALL TOMORROW!!!!!!!!
