I have been there a few times for an emergency. Most of the time wait time was long but the doctors and nurses really took good care. Lately our first baby born in this hospital. Their birthing center is amazing and the doctors and nurses of birthing center did outstanding job by taking care of my wife and even they were very kind and informative. My daughter had some complications so we ended up in NICU for 10 days and doctors as well as NICU staff are amazing.

Dr Quinton Chivers and his team at Canadian Plastic Surgery Centre are Amazing. Thank you Dr Chivers, you exceeded my expectations. You truly gave me my life back. Your Confidence in your abilities gave me the peace of mind I needed to go into to the surgery. Your bedside manner settled me knowing I was in good care. I am so very happy with the results. I would refer anyone to your clinic! Thanks again

Horrible experience! My finger got jammed in between the garage door and i had severe pain as well.We went to the hospital and they asked me to wait for almost 45 minutes to get my turn. Finally my turn came and they asked me to take X ray and when the X ray result came they said it looks okay and you are good to go.After a couple of days and have got call from hospital and they said your official x ray report is out just now and you have fracture on finger.

I hope that this Hospital is taking ll these complaints seriously and make changes quickly. I have had an experience with my son, who was 6 yrs old, broke his arm and we were there to take off his cast, next thing i know the nurse is there reading his chart and saying thins like, an incorrect name, his diagnosis, is of some disease, he is being ordered some sort of tests and i am sitting there flabbergasted and when i could finally speak with the angry sputters I could muster, I said are you out of your MF freaking mind, that is not my son's name, he is not here for what ever disease you call that and get the doctor here immediately. or else all hell will break loose. come to the facts that they had someone else's'paperwork within my son's file. he is now 26yrs old, and if I was not a diligent mother he would not have been alive today- still this is going on, THEY NEED TO SMARTEN UP

Poor hospital, one of the worst ever experiences with my kids I have with this garbage hospital and not responsible doctor with kids

I spent one night at emergency room suffering from severe sinus infection and it was a real nightmare! It took 5 hours to have chance to visit the doctor!!! it's such a shame there was only one doctor to visit the patients at emergency room.even in third world countries you won't wait so long like this. torturous medical system.

I had my baby at their birthing center and it was amazing! Doctors and nurses were super nice! My experience was really great. My baby had to stay in the NICU for a few days and the nurses there was super sweet.

Worst experience. Have to wait so long even in emergency service . No doctors available

I had wonderful experience with St Joseph hospital while we had our first baby. We went to Centenary hospital for our baby's ear test. We had awful experience with the Audiologists. Her name is Debby. Our baby was asked not to be fed till we reach there , we followed that. Our baby have breast milk from bottle. Debbie asked my wife to latch him, that didn't work then she started giving sarcastic comments. When the baby was crying out loud she never let the other parent (me) to go for help. When i later took over she again passed sarcastic comment, may be because we are brown. Later the baby was quite and sleeping and that lady started her tests. that baby was quite for almost 1 hr then also she was not able to complete the test for one Ear. After 1 hr the baby woke up and she never didn gave us time to put him to sleep again to continue with the test. Horrific Experience. I am sure other staffs are way better than her and she is just a crook we came across.

Guys don't go to this hospital, if you can drive an extra kms then goto northyork or in toronto. Their emergency is the worst in ontario. rude staff and incompetent doctors. I won't even wish my worst enemy to ever get treated at this hospital. stay safe and stay away!

rehaad baksh (ray)

The nurses in the psych ward shop online all night. They have no standing orders for sleep. They overdose you in the morning. Thy give you all your medication for the day and night in the morning. They don't do the med sheet. The staff only care about stealing your name and paying off their bills and mortgages. They are the worst.

had my 2 children here one back in 2011 and my other one in February of this year both times had amazing nurses like that fact that not just anyone can walk into the baby ward thanks again

Today around 11:30am i took my 2 year old daughter for what looked like an insect bite on her left knee, i went to triage to give the nurse her health card she didn't even take it from me and told me to set down on the chair at the entrance and said it will take a while even though there was no one waiting ahead of me so i sat there and I'm facing the window and she can clearly see that there was no one else other than me and my daughter and yet she didn't call me until another lady came and sat on the chairs and she called her so I got up and I said it's my turn I came first she said it doesn't matter I mean what does she mean it doesn't matter it does matter I was there first I was waiting first. And that is not the first time I come across a rude nurse at this hospital maybe they don't like that I'm a Muslim wearing a hijab or whatever their reason is but there's no excuse for them being rude to patients. I was there for my daughter that's why I didn't want to give up her turn if it was for myself I don't mind cuz last year I was there for a fractured wrist and in the second waiting area a black lady came with two kids and I could see she was in a lot of pain and she was really pale she was about to faint and when it was my turn I told the nurse I want her to go in before me and I waited another two hours just to see the doctor but I didn't mind.

Worse hospital i have been to. I would never bring my family member there again & i suggest you dont too. There was no hospitality there & the nurses were ignorant. In the emergency room i had to wait 7 hours throughout the night for my 72 year old grandmother to get her blood test results while she was in pain because there was only 1 doctor.

I'd give negative stars if I could for having family in ICU and being emotional, then having to deal with the rude and ignorant nurses. Not professional, not acceptable. I'd switch hospitals if I could.

I don't think I will every forget how poorly I was treated in this hospital. I had slipped around 3pm and couldn't get up. I couldn't stand up straight and was in the worst pain I had ever experienced. I decided to go to the hospital around 6pm and wasnt seen till 2/3am the next day. I sat there waiting for hours, crying on and off because of how much pain I was in. People went up to the nurses and asked to let me go first. I couldnt use the toilet as I couldn't stand up. In the end they injecting me with a needle that did absolutely nothing, the nurses said I was over reacting. When I asked for a wheelchair they snickered. I left the hospital at 5am after they said nothing was wrong. The next day I went to a different hospital and turns out I slipped 3 disc in my lower spine hence why I couldnt stand or walk straight. Im on a surgery waitlist because of how serious it is. I recommend going elsewhere. Not only was I not properly taken care of, the nurses mocked me adding insult to my injury. I will never forget the disrespect I experienced here, ever.

Take it for what it is worth: my grandpa was terminally ill and needed 100% oxygen to breathe. They wheeled him into the room to do a CT scan, but would not allow anyone to accompany him, but he was awake and cognizant at the time. By the time he came out, he was nearly unconscious and when questioned, the attendant said it was normal. Another nurse heard the commotion and came to checked the oxygen bottle which was already empty and was probably empty for the entire session!!

Harsh mehta

Staff is super mean and they don’t have any appointments for 2-3 months

Courage T

Very caring staff. From the paramedics, to the nurse to the Doctor. Dr Rosenberg is awesome. The nurse (Bagga) that helped with my dressing was very attentive and caring. It made the whole process alittle less painful.

LaFlair Wilks

Well, we came for the ER.. We've been here 6 hours with our 18 month old who has been ill all week and still haven't seen a Dr. Pretty sure we won't be back unless absolutely desperate. There were no seats in the waiting areas for hours. Whatever the issue is, I hope the hospital gets the support it needs to fix this because it's hard on staff and patients alike.

Andrew W

My wife was at the hospital yesterday and overnight, the nurses and her surgeon and doctor were simply excellent. Professional, kind, caring and supportive. I also have to say, I can not speak highly enough of the specific nurse, this morning Sept 10, who took care of her. She needs to be acknowledged by the hospital management for her professional care, bed side manner and kindness.

Nishana Ranjithkumar

I would like to give a zero worst place ever you call them they never answer and no one is able to help you they just transfer you over before you even finish ur sentence. It's ridiculous and very disappointing

Jush More

I've been here every 2mos for many years for my son treatment and Dr. Zorn really amazing and her staff. Day time surgery nurses and staff are really nice, they're doing really a great job although it's quite long wait but it's worth it every single minute.

Normally I don’t like to complain but this time I have no choice! I was assaulted by a knife multiple of times and EMS drove me to the nearest hospital. After arriving, I was forced to wait at the hallway when there were 5 emergency patiences lining up. This is unacceptable when I was bloody all over my body and face, and feeling unimportant with anger inside, while painfully waiting up to 5 hours to see a doctor. When the doctor arrived, the nurse, Jodi disappeared. Later, she told the doctor that he had to be independent. Basically he had to do everything by himself. He complained to her but she refused to apologize because she has a high ego! My brother was there and asked her important questions. She told him, “You have too many questions to ask”! Basically, she told him to shut up! Later on, a young nurse student came to assist cleaning me because she wanted to learn. Was I being used as an educational purpose, or treating my wounds were more important? Further to my shock and distress, my wife had to use her mobile phone light to help the doctor because he complained there wasn’t enough light. Nobody came to his assistant when he was calling for help. I was still bloody in leaving the hospital after midnight! I will not even give a star if there is an option! Horrible medical services! You might die during this process but not dying from your injuries! Also they don’t have tissue papers and chairs for family members! Nobody seems to care except the doctor, which I will give him 5 stars!

While having an autistic melt down at eleven years old security picked me up off of the floor with the police and dragged me into an elevator where they kicked me mercilessly. I did not speak about it until at the age of twenty three I snapped. Hiding under a table at a police station I told them why I fear them. Moving forward into the private healthcare system I was diagnosed with severe ptsd. I see this hospital in my sleep every night and can still here police radios sometimes. Never leave your mentally ill children alone in this hospital. I am sure things "might" of changed but I highly doubt it. The truth shall set me free ; I am not afraid of speaking out

Worst hospital ever. Nurses are uncaring and cruel...some are downright inept and unable to perform basic skills...the doctors don't care...and seem only willing to suggest slow and drugged death. ..claim that they are unable to do more medically...they are jaded and cold and pessimistic. The place is disorganized...the staff is lazy....if u have the misfortune of having a loved one on 4 west...be prepared to watch a slow and painful demise....if u can..get them transferred out immediately or be prepared to be there around the clock to make sure they receive any care or dignity. It is a disgusting place with disgusting staff.

Edith VB

Please never come to this hospital EVER in case in emergency. I brought my 1 year son with fever I waited for 3:30 hours , saw other patients came after my son but got into the room before my son. I asked the nurse why they don't respect who comes first and she was really rude and told me that people that are more sick have the priority. MY SON HAS A FEVER!!! And it's getting worse. I will not recommend anyone to come to this hospital, even if it's really close to my home , I will go to Scarborough General Hospital or Pickering. I will give NO star.

Harsh Thaker

Really disappointed by the service. Me and my wife were there for an emergency. They charged us right there and we payed them fully as we weren't covered under health card. After everything was done and while we left I personally asked that if anything is to be paid, the lady told everything is done. Now after 2.5 weeks they have sent me unpaid bill to be paid! They already charged as around 720CAD and now they want 460 CAD more!

laydeedeathstrike

WORST HOSPITAL HANDS DOWN! The nurses are ignorant, rude, and unprofessional. How did they even get licensed?? There are better, and more qualified, nurses out there looking for permanent full-time and I suggest some of the Rouge Valley nurses give up their positions because they are so undeserving to work at a hospital. I came to emergency with a broken leg, waited 5-6 hours, then got checked for x-rays (waited another hour) and then went back to the waiting area for the results to process (2 hours)...this was horrible!!!

Julie Mango

Avoid this hospital during overnight hours in emergency. Triage nurse and registration staff were helpful and great. The wait was forever, once your in, then you wait even longer to be seen by jerk doctors that yell at you for wasting their time and others for your medical issues. Dr. Rand bedside manner is nil and should take a course in empathy for patients, instead of yelling at them to make them feel worse than they already are. Never again..

Khyati Gupta

Went to emerg. Awful nurses. We asked for water she said she will bring it and never did. We asked another nurse and she said that shes busy and refused to help. Another bed who asked for water got water right away. That bed was white and we werent. They got food and stuff too and we didnt. So theres racism here too. Doctor came after 6 hour wait letting us know that he will be writing a referal note and never came back. Were waiting here clueless with needles and stuff on us. Absolutely horrid healthcare. Absolutely horrid care for patients. Inconsiderate and ignorant. This is our country's healthcare. Terrible.

Princess Cd

Went into emerg with broken ankle last weekend. There were 2 guys that check your covid status and gives you a mask before u check in at triage. The guy that greeted us, his name is Peter, is A GEM! He was pleasant, helpful, and full of positve energy. When he wasnt busy, he organized the wheelchairs at the entrance, and straightening out the waiting area. This guy should be handed the position that trains future employees! Did I mention the other guy?...ya he was busy on his phone...didnt look up once! Hence 4 stars and not 5????

Chinab Bhatnagar

Hate this hospital. No clear communication about anything. I ended paying around $750 because the Registration desk attendant didn't communicate clearly about the procedure and I ended up going through the registration process again. People need to understand that if something is going to cost you extra, you need to inform. Not every effing person is rich. This is the closest hospital or else i would never come here.

Brooklyn Hilton

I had my daughter here and was not at all impressed with the nursing staff... Most of them were rude and ignorant and gave major attitude. This is not my first bad experience with the nursing staff at this hospital. Not to mention the nurses in the emerge department would rather sit around and gossip than take your information and actually get patients moving through. Also when we were in emerge the room we were taken into had garbage all over the floor and blood splatter! For a hospital it was super disgusting! The doctors are fantastic, I haven't got one complaint about the doctors. Well actually no. I do have one comlaint. I went there once during my pregnancy as I had gotten food poisoning and I was told the OB on staff was in emerge... This wasn't the first time this had happened. While in labour I decided after about 11 hours of pain to have the epidural and the doctor didn't show up for another hour or so. Then the third time was the real kicker! We were waiting on the results of our daughters second jaundice test and waited over 2 hours. We were told the doctor was in emerge, again. Lo and behold they were sitting in an office around the corner nonchalantly drinking a coffee! The OB that delivered my baby girl was a sweetheart and very kind. Some of the nurses were absolute angels but most were an out right nightmare.

Fantastic staff from initial screening, to triage, to intake...through entire emergency staff. A very busy hospital that works hard to take care of people. This is not McDonalds... where you are at the drive through, it is a hospital dealing with many different patients and their differing problems. Many thanks To Dr. Michael Chan and staff. I've never seen someone who is so dedicated to the patient. Very glad to have this hospital and team to take care of me. Judging from other reviews, you are not the only person there...the hospital team is aware of you, and they prioritize accordingly.

In case you were considering coming to this hospital, allow me to explain the story of how on April 15th, 2019 I walked into this hospital, only to never walk again. I became paralyzed from my chest down (T6) due to a scoliosis surgery performed by an incompetent surgeon. After surgery I was nearly instantly transferred to Toronto Western as Centenary apparently was unsuited to handle the severity of my condition that their surgeon so kindly inflicted upon me. Each day that I woke up for the next month, I would be in the worst pain I had ever experienced. This was essentially 24/7 as I was awoken every two hours for new pain medication, so sleep was hard to come by. During this time, if I so much as lifted my head off my pillow, I would get an unbearable migraine, my vision would go blurry, and I would begin vomiting. It took three weeks for me to be able to sit up. (In case you were wondering, you are only supposed to be in hospital for a couple of days after this surgery.) In addition to all this however, and something that I still face to this day is the nerve pain. I can only describe nerve pain as having the inside of your skin set on fire, having a blanket, shorts, or even a thin sheet touch you is agonizing. This is something I now have to deal with for the rest of my life. After my grueling time in hospital, I was finally sent to rehab for two months to learn how to live life again. You may think that this was the worst of it. You would be wrong. I have lost my apartment, my car, my opportunity to continue my international program in school, my spot on my school team, control of my bowels and bladder, and worst of all, the ability to walk. Imagine that, starting along your path in life and having everything come together just to have it torn away from you in what felt like to me, a blink of an eye. Over these last few months I have gone into more financial debt due to bills, renovations, equipment, etc, than what I had planned to be in after finishing University. This surgeon has quite literally destroyed my life. All this, and the Scarborough Health Network, Centenary specifically, have done nothing to help me. They prefer the, "it happens" sort of attitude. This surgeon still practices and they are still ruining other peoples lives. I'm only 18 but everything I have ever looked forward to is gone. I hope you don't let them do this to you or someone you know.

Worst hospital. Got bad service many times. Doctor Fidel is very incompatible. The nurses are rude. Recently had to go to Toronto General after doctor overlooked and misdiagnosed my sister's illness in the emergency. Now she is in Mount Sinai hospital for over a week on iv fluid for her dehydration and many other complications. Dr. Fidel at Centenary hospital said he couldn't help her where as at Toronto general and mount Sinai they are giving her the right treatment for her critical condition.

Joyce Plummer

Security at the door directed me easily to where I needed to go. The staff in the department were very polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Very clear instructions were given to make me feel better about being there. Parking was right there, so I felt safe walking back to my vehicle at 3am.

Pankhuri Sengar

The staff is rude, disrespectful and ill mannered. I was in the ER yesterday and one of the staff who was taking down my symptoms before registration hit me on my chest because I couldn’t speak at that moment and laid my head back to rest.I was in excruciating pain and I was exhausted and dizzy. She then later came towards my room and told the doctor that I was a crazy drama queen! What kind of a person says that for a patient who was has been suffering from pain for 8 hours !! I heard them both laugh at me !! This is so sad and depressing !! I still have pain on my chest where she hit me !! Never going back to this hospital again !! They take oath to assist all the patients and save their lives but this hospital seems to have hired wrong set of the lot !! They should be ashamed !!

Several years ago when my son was 1 years old, they lost his blood test, put my son in quarantine in the hospital for a few days thinking he had the measles, when he didn't! After he was released, the health department made him get another blood test that confirmed he had the parvovirus, which is common for school aged kids. While in the hospital, I had to stay with him. The food was terrible. One day they brought up a tray that wasn't even cooked! On a positive note, the nurses were very nice and did their best to accommodate!

My wife gave a birth and it is very sad to see NRs behaving unprofessional. Few mints after she gave a birth, wife want to use a bathroom, we contacted NRs, push emergency button, no response for about 45 mints. Finally, I bagged one of the nurse who pass by to come and help. She guide her to go to the bathroom. The main NR who suppose to be in the room, did not gave my wife pain killer (my wife was suffering until we asked another NR about the pain, then she said "are you taking pain killer" we said no. They she gave us the pain killer to use. Inconsistent answer among NRs (some seems care, other seem show up to collect cheque) I wish management review this post and take the following simple steps to boost customer satisfaction. 1. Guide NRs to stay away from knowledge based to rule based. ( simple checklist with sign off - I.e would prevent pain killers event, we were about to leave the hospital without baby being check, on our way out, the ear specializes asked if we check baby ear then she checked her on the walkway. 2. Smile worth a million, from Clark to some NRs, no smile as if they are working under the gun. 3. Lack of supplies in the room - during delivery NRs were running from one to to the next to get supply - I am not sure if the housekeeping is getting sufficient oversight. I have had all my four my kids in this hospital. I had good experience before, this time, maybe holiday distraction is hitting home..management do your best to manage effectively.

Yoshikage Speedwagon

Had a very high fever. Receptionist said the doctor would come soon. I waited for 3 hours and decided to just leave and take tylenol. Also, I highly doubt any doctors actually work here, it's just the receptionists and security guards. Complete waste of time. Go anywhere else.

Noora Mahmood

Its a hospital with poor characteristics. The nurses and doctors are rude and treat their patients unkindly. I was placed to stay for a few nights due to an accident at school. I had a panic attack on the first night because I get home sick. The nurses were cold and brought me back to my room while I was crying and begging to go home. This was the worst experience of my life.

Manju Herft

One of the worse hospitals. there are using covid has an excuse for every bledy thing. God knows what there are doing with the patients... I called to check on my nephew he was asked to come to the hospital at 10am for surgery at 11am he was in the hospital for 12 hours till 10pm when they took him to OR for surgery... Never informed the family what's happening.. Visitors are not allowed, atleast give a call to the family and keep them informed.. I called the hospital very rude nursing station no customer service at all... I have plenty of experience with this hospital from 2011..2012 & 2019 . Very sad how they use the system..

I advise everyone to not step foot into this hospital. Go to any other hospital but don’t come to this one. The nurses and doctors are extremely rude. They are getting paid for there job and yet do not care about the patient at all. My mom has fractured her elbow and hurt her knee really bad. The day she had fractured it we took her to this hospital into the emergency room. The emergency room is meant to take in patients right away since it is an EMERGENCY but instead they made her wait for 1 hour until she was taken in to take X-rays. After the x-ray, she needed to go to the bathroom and the nurse was being very rude to her and not helping her even though she couldn’t walk because of her knee injury. After the X-ray they made her wait for 6 hours while her fractured elbow was in a lot of pain. They only put a sling around her and gave her pills that aren’t even helping. She had a follow up appointment and we thought the doctor would do something about the pain. In the report they state saying there is probably a fracture, meaning they don’t even know what the he’ll is wrong. The doctor was very rude and did not give right information at all. I mean your getting paid so at-least do your god damn job right. I would give this hospital a negative if I could. Worst hospital ever!

Farhan Ajra

Emergency section is full of nurses, but only 2 doctors per 100s of petients. Minimum waiting time is 4 hours. They don't understand emergency patients vs non emergency patients. They will still make you wait even though you require emergency treatment. If you ask for the doctor they'll keep lie to you that doctors is on the side but in reality there is no doctor, they have to call doctor in for work. CANADIAN MEDICAL SYSTEM IS SHITY I REALLY WISH WE HAD SOME PRIVATE HOSPITALS SO I CAN PAY THEM AND GET TREATMENT RIGHT AWAY! and one last thing about this hospital they always turn off those patients survay computer so no body comment about them. I was came to emergency 6pm and doctor see me next day at 7am, NO HELP NO HELP, VERY POOR

Musab zain

STAY AWAY! DO NOT go to the ER if you love your life! They'll make you wait for long hours, 3-4 hours on avg before seeing a doctor - most of the staff including doctors are RUDE, esp the triage nurse. My wife had to wait for hours in pain, she even had a note from her Family doctor stating the urgency of treatment, still it took her 7 hours! If you LOVE your loved ones take them to another hospital.

Paola

I could barely walk and the nurse thought I was faking it, so she took my wheelchair from me! She later realized I wasn't faking it. Rude, unprofessional, and why would you do that to a human being? Also, one the nurses didn't know how to take a blood test. She withdrew the syringe and my blood started squirting on the floor cause she didn't know how to operate it. And apparently their pharmacy closes on Sunday. My brother started bleeding and they had nothing to stop the bleeding. How can you call this a hospital? Save yourself the effort and go to a better hospital.

Lisa Marriage

I cannot say enough GREAT things about this hospital and my experience there with my son! Absolutely five stars, superb treatment, very caring staff all around the board! I felt like there was so much knowledge in one room it was blowing my mind, sounds funny but true. The way they explain things is very thorough yet easy to understand, I feel that this was the absolute BEST place we could’ve gone for his care. My son is stronger now than before he went in, what a fantastic group of people! If you’re ever lucky enough to be in their care, trust and know that you were at the best place who actually care for your children’s well-being! A pluses all around, not one person was mediocre, I felt that they were above and beyond my expectations. Although I never really wanna see hospital again for the rest of my life, I will miss this group of phenomenal people! #AbsoluteProfessionals‼️ ????????????????????????????☝????????????????????????????????⭐️????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????=A+++‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The doctors was awesome, most nurses are awesome as well but the last nurse that took my baby’s bloodwork was the worst. She doesn’t care about the baby, she treated the baby like a dead chicken, the way she pull and push her and handle the baby, it was a horror, I regret going to this hospital and I had suffer trauma after that. She was very rude as well. I wish I went to Mount Sinai instead. Be prepared if ever the nurse treats your baby badly don’t copy me, say something and ask to get another nurse. I will report the nurse when I get my parental leave.. they think they have rights to treat people badly.. what a nightmare.

WORST HOSPITAL IN ONTARIO! I always heard from people that Canada has the best health care system in the world, ABSOLUTELY NOT! We have better hospitals and healthcare in 3rd World Countries! They don't make you wait in pain for several hours. This is ridiculous and inhuman!

Mackenzie Rhodes

I went to the hospital today for a COVID vaccine because I work as a physical therapist. I was turned away and told that I was not eligible during this phase despite the information on the website saying that I am eligible. My co-workers went the same day and were given their COVID vaccination and were not turned away. Now I am going back to work where the majority of my patients are 65+ years old and the majority of my co-workers are vaccinated. Very disappointed with the uneven and inconsistent delivery of the vaccine.

My father went into Ajax Pickering and later transfered to Centenary. 9 West staff and the team of Cardiologist are a sad example of what healthcare professionals should be. Nurses are breaching confidentiality ethics. Called my Mom regarding a different patient than my father and gave her health update even though Mother kept telling nurse you have the wrong pt. Father has been in for 4 weeks with no answers on his plan of care. 2 days went by where no one noticed he didn't have an id bracelet on. Doctors giving different information than the next. Pt was d/c getting ready to leave the hospital then an attending doc camr on saying he couldnt leave b/c the dr overlooked something. That something was a major artery blockage! Doctor had beeen on for 4 days. For your sake or the sake of a loved one stay far away. Go to a downtown hospital PLEASE!!!

Fariah Rahman

The pediatrician never came. The nurses are very inexperienced. When they came for my baby's blood test, they kept poking him with the needle and could not properly collect the blood. Apparently, they really enjoy gossiping than actually helping the patients.

Erika Smith

Great Doctor. Very Fast. My son split his lip and we were in and out in less then 2 hours. The frount check in lady wan a little short but i made light of the situation by saying "rough day eh" us as well. And she let up a bit. other then that. like 5 stars on this day for sure. June 27th 2017 3pm. :) Thanks guys!

Vee

My mom and I waited 6 hrs and were put into 3 waiting rooms, in the last waiting room I asked for a blanket because I had the flu and I got a dirty look and a sheet as thin as paper. These people are so rude and have horrible attitudes, next time I'll legit drive to Ajax if I have to. I'm never coming back to this hospital and I hope someone does something about this. They deserve no stars, and the funny thing about all this is they charge you to park by the half hr. I'm so disgusted.

I swear it is the worst hospital I have ever been to in my entire life. I took my daughter because her chest hurt and she was very dizzy, almost fainting and the only thing they know to say to everyone is that she is anxiety. They don't teach Canada's "doctors" that illnesses are not called anxiety and that many illnesses have symptoms that resemble anxiety? It is not possible that in countries like Mexico there are thousands of Canadians consulting their doctors every year because the medical service in Canada is completely incompetent and in this hospital the doctors are very rude. The dictator said that I lie about my blurred vision from three months ago and that I only have anxiety, my 12-year-old son was told that he only has anxiety and they will continue to believe that everyone has anxiety because the government does not want to invest a single dollar in taking care of the health of those of us who live in Canada and if we want them to take care of us, we must pay more in addition to the thousands of taxes they charge us. That is why Canada's medical service is listed as the worst in the world. it's a horrible hospital. I came from 12:49 and it is 3:48. Nobody attends to me and there is only another person and I waiting, nobody gives me reports and the doctors have not even gone to the emergency room. Zero stars. *** I left the hospital at 4:30 and nobody attended to me. I just wasted my time and I still feel bad, I will go to another hospital.

I have been in this hospital several times. The biggest problem is with most of the nurses in emergency, they are unprofessional, ignorant, they rather gossip than helping the patients, they eat and drink , I don't see them wash or clean their hands. They don't care about patients. They act like they work for free or they are doing us a favor by working here. I have esclated this issue to the head of the hospital several times. Unfortunately no improvement. Hope some body read these reviews and do something about this hospital. That being said there are some amazing nurses in this hospital too. They go extra mile to help the patients. Unfortunately their reputations are ruined because of some bad apples. Doctors are mostly professional and they know what they're doing. That's why I keep coming back to this hospital.

Rouge Centenary Hospital is one of thr closest hospitals from my home in Scarborough! Where I used to go and many times I visited there due to the different reasons. August 11th, Tuesday I went to the emergency for my severe waist pain. It was a very good experience! I would like to say special thanks to Dr.Stephen Michael MacKinnon. He was very good and professional mannered to me, very Well understood my problem. Thanks again to entire team: doctor, nurses and other staffs. Some nurses broken the serial in triage but I think it was age and seriousness basis. Great service! ???? Mrs.Ahmed

My Dad was there for a heart procedure at the cardiac short stay unit and the staff there was excellent. The nurses were kind and attentive. Took the time to explain what they were doing every step of the way. The Doctors, nurses and operating team all introduced themselves and put my Father who spoke limited English at ease. They pointed me to a comfortable spot to wait while my Father was being tended to, and gave good estimates for how long I would need to wait and return back to the recovery room. Post Op, the nurses did their best to make sure my Dad was recovering well. Made sure he had juice and water to drink after fasting for over 20hrs. When he was moved to his room overnight, the night nurse introduced himself and did all the same things as the nurses in the Cardiac unit. While there are some terrible reviews for this hospital, we did not see this at all. Hope those with positive experiences will take time to post their experiences and not have these views so lopsided.

Extremely rude nurses and excruciating wait times. Had people begging and pleading for help while the nurses ignored. If you have an emergency, DO NOT COME HERE! Better off going to Scarborough general. I have been waiting for over 2 hours, asked a nurse the waiting time and she snapped saying there were many people in front of me. I came with a referral and people that came in after me were served first even tho I was in a very bad state. HORRIBLE!!

BHARATHI OVUREDDY

I had a good experience at this location starting from the receptionist to the nurse and the doctors. They all were caring and concerned. All of them were helpful.

Dhwani Pandya

Worst experience ever. The emergency room does for perform like one. I’ve waited in pain for 4 hours and no staff cares. In Covid there is no social distancing or any kind of precautions followed. DO NOT come here. The staff at the counter where you show health card is so rude, she does t care about the patient’s problems. I HATE IT, I repeat if in EMERGENCY NEVER COME HERE.

We attended the new born center to a very disturbing experience . The front desk nurses were beyond difficult and rude to us. They screwed up our ultrasound appointment we are waiting for which cost us another hour and a half wait . Then when asked on a update were spoken down to .. This was a terrible experience . We have enough stress and anxiety bringing a child into this world and would hope the new born center would make us feel welcome and comfortable and not add extra stress. Very nervous about having our child here.. To any new parents be weary of this hospital and the new born center .

I gave one as i couldnt give zero. Actually i am not angry infact I am disturbed by the services. They treated me on friday for a lump which took them 8 hours ( 7 hours is waiting only). Then they even did not cure me and asked me to come again after three days. When I reached another day i waited for 6 hourse to get my turn and i am still waiting and posting this from the waiting area. They did not care about older people or children. I did not know that it could my worst experience in canadian health care facilities.

My grandmother suffered from random memory loss. She never had any memory problems before this and she was perfectly fine. They sent us home the first time we went and when it got worse we took her back. They did a CT scan and there was damage to the brain. Its been days and they keep delaying the MRI as she's worsening. The nurses here are rude. The doctors won't give answers & won't put in the effort to find answers. Please avoid this hospital for your loved ones!

Took my aunt there for a colonoscopy, the waiting time was completely ridiculous. I know that you can't expect high speed service but this was atrocious. The procedure was due to take about 30 minutes, and hour at most. Ended up taking 4 hours. 3 of which was just waiting around for god knows what. They told us it would just be another 5 minutes, ended up being 7x the wait. The worst hospital I've visited, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Poornima nirmala

Visited hospital yesterday in emergency huge number of people present their with symptoms of corona even one person fainted in front of me instead of taking them to covid testing area the patients where at the emergency flet like they wanted everyone who don't have covid 19 to get affected ,not at all systematic didnt felt like visiting an emergency felt like went to test covid .

You can tell how bad a hospital is when family member has to transport a patient in life threatening condition to another hospital due to lack of surgeons and an ambulance wait of over 5 hours. Lost paperwork. Avoid this hospital at all costs

SirDaddin Sir

The lady who takes the calls has such attitude. Really disappointed. I cannot express my disappointment. She does not belong in a customer service position. This is not the career for her.

Tale of Two Siblings

Due to being racially ambiguous Ive had to deal with many people claiming Im adopted . Actually just this year National geographic did a whole month dedicated to people like myself who are racially ambiguous . Dr kurtz who is in the crisis centre . When I was explaining to him the effects it has had on me with comments people make and even certain family members . Decided to croos his arms and tell me I am lying about my ancestry and heritage ! He told me that only white people are allowed in South America ! LOL wow my family is 5 generations south american . Maybe he should use the internet and look up the racial make up of certain south american countries !! My dad is even of asian decent and is also born in South America. I am also not the only one in my family who does not look the same race as my parents . I have one more cousin that does not look like the race of his parents and full sibling . Well he wanted me to admit and tell him that I am lying !!! WOW ! I did write and contact the hospital . With evidence that first I am from a multi ethnic family and secondly the places he claims only white people are allowed it is not true !! I buy the way also had a dna test done and my parents are my full parents !! Infact my dna showed I was 66 percent ASIAN ( Though I dont look asian ) and the rest African / European and myan ) He was asked me my background of my husband when I said my husband was Italian he seemed very upset ! I guess he figured I should not be marrying anyone white. This is interesting . He has a Jewish name . I wonder how he would like it if the racism was directed towards him . Perhaps he would claim my kids are not my kids because they look like my parents ! Not even my husband nor me but my parents ! His director called and left a message saying he was sorry . Yes I am sure he is sorry .Sorry that I made the report on him . If biology or DNA is not his expertise stay out of it ! And he is not South American ! I am ! I also am myan heritage and I feel offended that he thinks he has the right to take any of my heritages away . Lets be honest a man who is Jewish being racist ...He should ask himself if it was on the other foot how he would feel . I thought it was just me but then a friend said they experienced something similar in that hospital . I had to find my self other help elsewhere . Please if I am dying let me die I would never want to go to this hospital !.

Brought my son here when he complained of a stomach ache while also vomiting last Saturday, thinking that it was an indigestion, stomach flu or something less serious. It turned out to be appendicitis, and he had to have it removed when his symptoms didn’t respond to antibiotics. I was very hesitant to stay at this hospital and have my son’s surgery done here coz of the low rating and reviews. It turns out that the staff that took care of us, from triage, to the ER nurses, the nurses at the pediatric floor were amazing. The building is a little old, but it is clean, and the people were pleasant. Dr. Chan is an amazing surgeon. He knew very well what to do that suits best for my son and for his comfort. Dr. Lim, the anesthesiologist was also great. He made sure that my son was fine and made him comfortable by playing my son’s favorite music and playing guess the song/artist with him while he was waking up and keeping him alert after the surgery. Thank you to the great OR team, thank you to the lovely nurses on the 7th floor, Cathy, Sandra, Novelette, Pryea, and another lady who took care of us for 3 days. Thank you to the triage and ER nurses, I can’t remember all your names, but I do remember Gordon. Thank you so much!

This hospital is horrible !!! PLEASE READ IF AN EXPECTED MOTHER ! I feel so scared to have my baby here!!! I went here with my girlfriend to get a emergency ultra sound because she was bleeding and pregnant, we ended up being there 2-3 hours and when finally speaking to the doctor he said it was too early for ultra sound and there was no point !! ( Chinese doctor ) no offense . But we were both worried she was having a ectopic pregnancy. This doctor has the nerve to say “ it’s unlikely that’s what’s happening and it’s really rare “ he then told us “ we have to wait for results of the blood work and there is people that’s been there from morning so he will deal with us after all of them. I COULDN'T BELIVE IT!! With my pregnancy ( second one ) at birchmount and finch hospital they have taken a internal ultra sound no problem !! And I was 6-7 weeks pregnant !! WITH A HEART BEAT !! Me and my girlfriend couldn’t wait any longer and we’re worried ... you know what ended up happening ?? We went to the hospital by Coxwell and it turned out she was having a ectopic pregnancy!!! They had to terminate the pregnancy immediately!!! I wish I had that doctors name at this hospital ( excuse my language ) but he was a TOTAL GOOF and acted like he didn’t care . I am extremely worried to have my second baby here and heard you have to pay for private rooms . Birchmount and Finch hospital won’t be there by the time my baby is born and is unfortunately sad because I got a private room and they had wonderful staff, anytime and always !!! Nothing but bad things about this place

Fairly decent hospital. Most of the staff are nice, but you'll get the odd one who is rude. They do lots of fun stuff with their patients during holidays which is very nice for morale.

I still have a special attachment to this hospital. I was born here many moons ago (feel older than i am lol) My son had his first surgery here by the same dr. who also delivered me. As well my daughter had her many facial surgeries here. I would rather this one over Scar. General but I just wish the 3 hospitals didn't merge together. Since merging this one lost a little credibility as did Birchmount campus. Scarborough Centennary was better when it was on its own. But thats just my opinion.

My wife has been in pain for 24 hours. The doctor saw her twice only. There is no nurse assigned for her. When I ask for anything the talk as if they are geniouses and I am the stupid one. I asked for anesthesia, it has been 2 hours now. Terrible hospital, the government should close it down.

Glenn Luxton

Good experience . When leaving , be clear where to be picked up, as this is a large hospital. Doctors and nurses very thorough . Some have accents ,so listen close . Good luck

Arezoo Hosseini

The emergency department doesn't even worth 1 star. I have been sitting here in so much pain for 3 hours . They put me in a room no sign of no one to come to check on me. No doctors no nurses. I go to emergency receptionist no answer. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL. Every nurse is more interested chatting and laughing in the hallways not even caring for patients. They need a better night shift supervisor.

Marlyn Persaud

Stay away from this hospital like it's the plague. Especially if you have an Emergency and are in need of urgent care. I checked in with my kid with a possible concussion from a sports injury. Forget the hour and a half it took just to get triaged. That I understand. But it was the incompetence of one of their staff that was inexcusable. After checking into registration, the staff member told us to go wait in the "yellow" area which we did. Three hours later I asked the receptionist at the main desk when we could expect to see a doctor. She seemed too busy on her computer to answer and said she didn't have any idea. Another hour later, another PATIENT saw me holding my kid's paperwork and told me we were supposed to put it in a bin so that we could be seen. She also said no one told her this also. I went to one or the doctors and asked if we could be put in line first as we had been waiting for four hours and wasn't told about the paperwork procedure by their staff. She said no. We left after 4 hours of waiting without seeing a doctor. Then, we were asked for $16 for parking. For zero service. If you have an emergency, your best bet is to steer clear of this hospital. I will never set foot into it ever again.

EMS took my spouse in the ER with complaints of chest pain. Registered at 7.00 pm, waited till 3.00 am next morning without being called to see a doctor. At last upon complaining about the long wait they made an excuse that oh you may have been called. We learned that the standard wait time is 5 hrs. They didn't apologize about this indifference as nobody cared about a poor patient waiting in the emergency room for over 8 hours sitting on a wheel chair counting hours. It is a pathetic hospital run by rogue and obnoxious people. Just like other misfortunes run by the government, this is an example of a chaotic and broken health care system that seldom delivers what is promised. And poor tax payers pay for this through their noses. I recommend you avoid going there if you can.

THE WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE EVER. NO CARES FROM NURSES TO DOCTORS. On Tuesday November 3rd I took my 2 year old daughter to the ER because she was coughing and had runny nose no fever and because she is in daycare walk in clinics didn't want to see her and they advise I took her to the ER because she has covid-19 symptoms(coughing). I got to the ER at 5pm saw Triage Nurse Kristina then registered and waited in the waiting room until 7pm I see them call patients that arrived after me so I asked why my two year old hasn't been called yet and the Triage nurse told me they are waiting for a room to put my daughter in because she is coughing mind you we been sitting in the waiting room with other patience for 2 hours (I don't understand why they didn't update us and I had to ask why my daughter still waiting while others that registered after her being called). Finally at 7:15pm they called my daughter name and put us in the room. 8pm we are still in the room no doctor has come and see us yet my daughter getting very fussy I ask the gentleman at the main desk ( he was the only person that has shown care and compassion) what is going on we been in the room for 45 mins waiting on doctor, He went and find out what is going on why my daughter yet to be seen by a doctor. at 8:15p a doctor came in Dr Shahab Nahnvi he asked my daughter name and I told him he said he was given the wrong file or patient so he went back to the triage. He came back at 8:30p he wasn't brief of my daughter issue so I had to repeat myself again , He checked my daughter heart/chest with the stethoscope and checked her mouth and said she is just congested and was about to walk away so I ask because she is in daycare they need a doctor note to state that she is safe to return back to daycare, he told me he cant give me that and my family doctor suppose to give me that. So I basically wasted 4 hours of my daughter and I time to just be seen by a Doctor for less than 10 minutes and be told she has congestion. Mind you the main reason I took my daughter to see doctor because daycare said she cant return back without a doctor note stating she is safe to return. I already knew she didn't have no covid and just regular cold she had. I will definitely wont return to Centenary hospital I have always have bad experience in the past I had the man at the Triage told me we ppl waste tax money because we come to ER and not see regular doctor and it is cheaper to see regular doctor than ER doctor Ignore that but this particular day was the worst. Stay away from the ER

jagtar singh

First time in the hospital in Canada with serious back injury and nobody cares. Long hours waiting and then they will send you back just because you have some document in your phone and not as a photocopy. I would say ridiculously poor service.

Alicia Landry

Was scheduled here for jaw surgery. Surgery went well, but aftercare was horrible. I had my mouth nailed shut and couldn't speak, so when I buzzed them for pain medication and couldn't explain what I needed, they wouldn't come. Surely they had on their board that I had just had jaw surgery! One nurse came in the middle of the night to give me diabetic medicine and I don't have diabetes! I opened my eyes and had a questionable look in my eyes and she said, "Do you have diabetes?" I shook my head no, she mumbled an apology and walked away. Worse experience ever. If you nurses and doctors hate your job, you shouldn't be there. I understand there are lots of people that come in and out that need to be cared for, but stop treating them as just as a number and care for them as you would want people to care for you and your loved ones.

Elijah Dumont

Worst hospital in Scarborough, guarantee you’ll be waiting an unholy amount hours in the ER. Staff is always miserable, rude and plain ignorant. Mental health wing is terrible and staff are crazy rude and unprofessional there. I’d advise you not to go there if anything is wrong, to be honest I’ll be straight up and say avoid this hospital like it’s the plague and go to a different hospital even if you live >5 minutes away.

Matt Vonarburg

I have had a terrible experience bringing somebody to the ER here. Had a couple of good overnight nurses, taking care of business. This hospital appears very poorly organised as they struggled to coordinate the simplest tasks. Poor overall communication. Never again.

Kamran Amin

Empty emergency. I arrived at 10 pm, wasnt seen by a doctor until past 3:15. Empty emergency, Empty Ambulance Bay. Nurses are sitting at the front triage desk using extremely foul language infront of little children with eachother. If you need urgent care go anywhere, don't come here.

Kenrick Kamil

Would like to give 1 star! but it is not fair for all the other workers I interacted with that delivered a 5 star performance. Went in this morning for right hand injury (carpal tunnel syndrome) was waiting for a good hr which is ok it wasn't busy at all in all my times over the years going to this hospital it was the lightest load I have ever seen (7am) A child with his father came in and the child appeared to have a bad wrist injury, he was in a lot of pain could not rest constantly showing signs of pain and fatigue. I felt bad for the kid, i approached a nurse and told her that hey im already being lined up for someone to take a look at my right hand injury, there is a child with a right hand injury can I swap my spot with him id rather him be looked at first. She was happy that I considered that and later told me its only the 2nd time she ever seen someone do that. When i got called up I mentioned to the lady in charge of the room that i had spoken with the other nurse and wouldn't mind waiting longer if this kid could get looked at instead of me. I understand that there are protocols and rules that they run the room by, but i didn't see the problem, i had a similar injury someone was coming to see me for a right hand injury i just wanted the kid to be looked at first i dont mind going back to the end of the line. She immediately said no and told me "you do not determine the lines", i wasnt trying to screw around get looked at first and or complain about waiting longer. I was shocked considering the at the jobs core your helping people, I assumed that she would be happy about that like the nurse before and it shouldn't be a problem. Im sure this woman is good at doing the tasks required to be a nurse but they need to be better at communicating, its part of the job, your surrounded by impatient people who are in pain i get that it could get frustrating but I dont understand how anything I did complicated her work in any way and or how she didnt understand why I was doing what I was doing. She gets the 1 star but like i said i cant take it out on the whole hospital everyone else was friendly helpful and performed on a 5 star level!

Loverleezack

Terrible hospital. Had to take my 10yr old there to the cardiac diagnostic services for pulmonary testing. It was 2 appointments and I had to book off work for them. Walking into the hospital I asked where cardiac diagnostic was at info, a gentleman told me I had to register at a kiosk of machines. While attempting to go through the very basic automated registration, a "helper" came over, took the OHIP care out of my hand without asking and proceeded to register me on the very simple machine. It asked if I had a family doctor, she clicked yes. Then the machine said it could not register me. The helper proceeded to waste 15 minutes of my time asking me over and over who I was there to see. She didn't recognise the doctor's name and told me I was mistaken, I didn't have an appointment. I walked away and found cardiac diagnostic myself, registered there. Once we saw the doctor is was weird. The doctor had the worst bedside manner I've ever seen. He was very loud, very intense and very aggressive. He shouted at my son so loud it hurt my ears. I had to tell him on several occasions to tone it down, stop yelling at my child and calm down. He informed me it was necessary to shout and be aggressive towards patients or they don't follow orders. I was flabbergasted! My son was so rattled by the doctor he was unable to do the tests. The doctor insisted on cancelling Friday's appointment because he couldn't get results today. I plan on going back to our doctor and asking to redo the tests at a different hospital. Absolutely ridiculous and outrageous "care" at Centenary. Terrible hospital with awful staff.

Ajay Vadakkedathu

I went to the after hours clinic today and I had a terrible experience with my friend. The new recieptionist treated very bad. We had such an experience before. But this situation was like she just threaten us like we wont get treatment here and just go somewhere for treatment. I just feel disappointed and I felt like.. is this kind of treatment and hospitality, a patient is getting in Canada.

Jerome Keating

Poor communication, they don't want to give you any information and they might just lie through their teeth. Very unsanitary, look at the grime that accumulated all over the walls and other surfaces you touch. Only one doctor on call in the birthing center. Very disappointed, my wife is 33 weeks and we are switching hospitals now

If you are in dire need of a doctor or nurse or if your about to die just stay home and die cause they don’t care imagine I came in to the EMERGENCY ROOM with chest pain telling them it’s difficult to breath and have a bad headache and they have me sit in the waiting room 3 hours no updates! When I asked the nurse if I could get something to ease my headache her answer was NO! You have to wait for the doctor. “Waiting for isolation room” first and the last I would NEVER come here if it wasn’t convenient. If you need actual help I suggest you go to the second nearest hospital cause the service here is horrible! They don’t follow their own queue! Literally over 20 people in emergency and I was here before most if not all and was still put to wait after them. WHERE ARE MY TAX PAYING DOLLARS GOING! ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE TO 3 hours for a doctor! Can only imagine how many doctors went home during that 3 hour span! And how many RUDE nurses got to end their shift! Going on 4 hours and it’s ridiculous!!! THIS HOSPITALS EMERGENCY ROOM is not FOR EMERGENCIES!!!! You’ll die before you get to see anyone!

H. L.

If I can give a zero star, I would! I came here after talking to a registered nurse on over the phone. She faxed all her notes to this hospital already. So you'd think the process should be fast. But NO!!! The on call doctor was in and out of this hospital. So patients are being called in and then left in the waiting room for hours and hours!!! How can you call yourself a hospital with no doctors!

Jackie Beninato

I gave birth at Mackenzie Health and cannot compare their children and maternity ward to Centennary's children's ward. My little one got very sick very quickly last year and Centennary was the closest hospital at the time. They were phenomenal. They took such great care of our little girl and the ward was super clean, private and the play area really helped LO pass the time while we were there. The nurses were all sweethearts. We still come to Centennary in the Audiology department and, again, wonderful staff and doctors. I have no complaints with this hospital.

Alexandra Agramonte

I had to go to Emergency and although the wait was long, every nurse, doctor, volunteer, and member of hospital staff that I encountered was pleasant, professional, and informed. Some of the staff are working 12+ hr shifts and a little politeness and kindness on the part of the patient I’m sure goes a long way. I’m grateful for such compassionate care during an otherwise stressful and scary time. Thank you Centenary!

Kevin Docherty

A statement on all hospitals and our system. It is completely ridiculous that there is only one doctor in emergency and so if one person comes in and is critical then the whole wait time is now 7 hours. Yes it was that long in here with a painful situation. Not blaming the staff they all work hard. The issue the management and the government. We need less of both at a better rate and working harder.

Shivan Patel

My grandfather is in the hospital fighting the Covid battle. It is unfortunate that the provincial rules do not allow any visits to him but they have been very helpful to make us feel like we are there. They have a tablet on zoom for us and we have been on for 7 hours and counting today. All personnel have been helpful and I cant recall all names but the ones we can remember are Dr. Bodley, Nurse Ashley, Nurse Carolyn, Nurse Paulina, Pam from the spiritual team, and Mary Joy. Everyone on 8 west was helpful to make sure he was comfortable and kept us updated on all matters. These nurses, doctors, and support workers are heros. We cannot say thank you enough for taking care of our grandpa in these hard times. Thank you for what you do. Thank you Centenary Hospital.

Sandy Esprit

I unexpectedly ended up giving birth at this hospital. Now I was impressed at how they accommodated for my family during our stay. My baby ended up being taken NICU because they were concerned. Being from Ottawa it meant that we had to stay. Normally I wouldn't leave a a review for a hospital but these nurses are worth it. Emoye and Stella these night nurses in the NICU gave me straight answers everytime I asked. To the first nurse I met when I delivered my baby she's a rockstar! She exemplified patience in a way that I haven't seen in a long time. Dr. Huh is an awesome calm doctor and I'm so glad she delivered my baby. Dr. Mathalaly was thorough and did his due diligence by my baby. I just wish they had more staff. Susan the social worker who made sure that my first born daughter could play and be a kid. I was blown away the care we received. I just wish they had more staff. These gems are being overworked and they deserve more support.

CM CS

I am being treated like complete trash at this hospital while in the process of delivering a baby. The volunteers at the main entrance behave like security and personal information is asked. Most of the nurses are entitled, racist, and look down on those who do not pay for a private room. You will wait 2hours to see doctor. Women are giving birth in the hall ways due to neglect and stereotypeing vegetarian are forced to eat nothing or meat. 3elderly nurses are worked like slaves and forced to be support personal to single mother. And if you dont like any of this treatment you can leave.

Outstanding experience at Emerge tonight (Monday Dec 27). Arrived at 8:03pm to the ER, out of hospital by 10:40pm. Had foot pain, was examined, and got an x-ray along with good news. Triage, registration, Diagnostic Imaging, nurses, and the doctor were all wonderful and professional. Thank you, Centenary/SHN.

Lin m

Initial intake staff, great at this hospital. But I was largely disappointed in the ER doctor because he lied. To avoid what could be more work or maybe the ethical thing to do, he lied. He failed to properly assess the situation and put the patient in a position of inconvenience/disadvantage as a result.

Singh singh

Very very bad experience, me and my wife, waiting from 4:50 pm to 9:00pm to see a doctor in emergency, because my wife face issue in her right eye and not able to see properly, she is literally crying in pain, still no one care and say it will take time. Worst, worst, worst experience here.

Rick Lane

I deal with several hospitals every week, and this is the worst run administration I've ever seen.

Sunil Changrani

This review is about the Covid 19 vaccine clinic. It was well organized, everyone was super polite and helpful. We did not have to wait too long and everything was explained to us patiently. I want to thank everyone involved in this process! Thank you ❤️

My husband was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks. 2 weeks in the ICU and 1 in the room. We came with the paramedics. Staff was amazing and handled everything very professionally. The care was given when it was needed. I can't thank enough to the ICU nurses for taking care of him specifically Hennah, John, Marijoy, Nancy, Charlene and Arnold and Fazila. I don't wish for anyone to go to the hospital but they really helped me in my difficult time.

This hospital is extremely busy & super efficient. They are patient, accomodating & very good at what they do. Thank you for the great visit. It's worth the drive to Scarborough. Thank to Dr. Keith Wong & all the nurses & staff at Digestive Disease Unit.

This is the worse hospital ever! I had a horrible experience as a women in labour! They took hours to get me a nurse and figure out what was wrong with me. Left me on a bed for hours and went to take in new patients. They gave me a new nurse very regular. None of the staff are on the same page ever. Each nurse comes on shift and does things how they believe stuff should be done. Had an IV in and one nurse would flush it and check it and the next nurse wouldnt. Over 24hr before another nurse cared to check it. You only see your nurse when they need to fill out their info on you as a patient. If they need your vitals they will come. You can buzz 3 or so times for assistance and they will tell you that they will send somebody and you will not get anyone. And if you are lucky they will come in an hour or two. They are always always complaining about how it is not their problem their colleague didn't attend to you. You will always find them at the nursing station on the computer gossiping and talking about their personal lives. The staff maybe diverse but are still very prejudice and could care less about you. They are very rude and nosey. If you have a visitor then they might check in on you because someone is there and they do not want to look bad. They have my info on file and I can hear all the staff in the station discussing my personal business and calling out my name. I guess nobody has ever heard of professionalism and confidentiality. They treat you different if you are a young coloured person. The doctors are great, compassionate and hard working. No issues with them. I was taken off a no food order and they still wouldn't bring me food, but as soon as my doctor was in the room with me, a staff member rushed to go find me food. She gave me another hospital patients food and ripped off their name from the food receipt. They told me they are too busy to deal with me or even help me. One staff was nice to give me a wheelchair to wheel me to my new "non private room" when on file I have insurance and they said they will get me a private room, yeahh right! I was brought to the back of the unit to share a room with another young lady like myself. The wheelchair was left in my room to wheel me to ultrasound later. A staff member came and took it. Hrs later my nurse is complaining they have no wheelchair for me to go get an ultrasound so I have to wait. Every nurse I had would come in my room and kick my shoes under the chair because they need more space. There is such thing as respect and manners. A simple can you move your shoes over please would have been nice. Once I had visitors come by then staff wantes to check in on me, bring me stuff. How funny. They probably thought I was young and educated not knowing that I am a nurse myself and know the chief of staff lol. I would see my nurses once or twice and they would get off shift and go. I was told to stop buzzing because my nurse is busy and can't see me. Yet I hear my nurse out in the station gossiping. They left me in bed for 5 days or so always giving me a new story and date as to when they will release me. I became stable. They said after 24hr I will be released. Then they said in the morning. Then they said tomorrow morning etc. 120hrs later I checked myself out. And even when they said all my paper work was ready from 4 days ago, it still took 6 hours to get the paper. Why because no paperwork was ever done. When time to leave they told me they cannot help me and whoever is coming to get me needs to find me a wheelchair and get me themselves. These are all words from staff working in the birthing centre, amazing huh! My family came to get me. They made a complaint to the manager who had no idea what was going on. A very friendly, caring nurse whom apologized for what I went through the whole week. My family had asked to speak to her earlier in the week and every time a nurse would say she is not there. That was a lie. In the end staff rushed to say bye to me and at least 5 members walked me out. They all were arguing over who would push me out in the wheelchair.

Rouge Centenary Hospital is one of the main and largest hospitals in Scarborough! When I used to live in Toronto, I would visit here frequently! In addition, this was the hospital I was born in! It was an amazing experience! Very tidy and spacious! Great modern architecture! Wonderful doctors, nurses. and staffs! Professional service! ????

Kristen Browne

Had to go to the er more than once in the last month or so. Both times I was greeted with nothing but kindness. The nurses and doctors were very kind and took fantastic care of everyone. They were working themselves to the bone (which was sad to see) but still provided those in their care with quality care. Since being at the hospital, there have been three different occasions where one of the specialists and er doctors called me to check in on how I was feeling. They were patient, kind and eased my fears. Thank you for all that you do!

I'd give this place a negative review if I could. Please keep your loved ones as far away from this place as possible. Not only is this facility grossly underfunded (not the hospitals fault I suppose), but the staff - including the doctors and nurses in ER are extremely rude. They seem to be straight out of the ghetto with 0 people skills. I was in the ER back to back for 2 nights and I saw the hospital during a busy time as well as when it was mostly empty; both times the service and care I received were horrible. First night, the nurse forgot to run basic tests on me and second time (during busy hours) we were called back and forth into the ER while the medical staff attempted to multitask. They were very condescending and dismissive also. When I needed to go to the ER for a third time, I went to a different hospital and the treatment was royal compared to how I was treated here. At this hospital, they do not care for your well being. Go somewhere else if you want to be treated with respect and care.

David Shaji

Went there for COVID test , waited on a 1.5hr line up and sent back saying I don’t have any symptoms, really?!! , I said I was exposed to COVID patient and agin they denied and the Dr was really rude , I don’t know why , Did I just got denied my COVID test just because I am an international student?! Or does my life really not matter? Any ways, if I die of corona The complete regards will be given to this kind hearted people ????

Sahar Aurora

I had the pleasure to serve in Centenary hospital vaccine clinic during Covid. Thank you all nurses, Doctors, Pharmacists, my colleauges Hopefully one day I look at this review and tell to my self “that era is over. We beat Covid-19”

I came in for emergency with severe stomach pain, I was literally crying they still made me to wait 2.5 hours to see doctor! This is not something emergency I guess. I strongly don’t recommend!

Mark L From Toronto

I was at Rouge Valley for day surgery last week and the staff I encountered were all friendly, helpful, and, as far as I could tell, competent! This includes orderlies, physicians, and nurses (like Donna, Anna, and Karen)! The hospital systems and procedures also seemed to function quite well.

My wife delivered our son in this hospital everything started few hours after the delivery. Doctor available on the floor - I wouldn’t give a star Nurses are okay but literally they don’t care. (Few deserve a star) PSWs I think this hospital don’t know this profession exist. After my son was born in the morning we all were happy until the afternoon. Afternoon she said she is feeling a lot of pain on her lower back and uneasy too. She was given Tylenol. Around the late evening, On a scale of 1-10 my wife said 10+ pain and she was given Tylenol only. She literally refused to breast feed our son as she couldn’t bear the pain. She seemed okay after few hours and throughout the night she complained of pain. The nurses said the 2 doctors on duty are attending an emergency. We waited 6 hours for the doctor to come, I lost patience and I told the nurses that if doctor doesn’t come I will call 911. Then they got panicked and were mad at me for saying that. They brought a more experienced nurse and she couldn’t help. Around 5:00 am my wife was tired, crying, with uneasy fell a sleep with pain. After all she didn’t get a nap for almost 2 days. Finally after 6hours doctor came said noting is wrong and she convinced us to not to take strong pain meds. the next day around 9 am they said she will be discharged and did so at 12 pm. They discharged my wife without finding out if something is wrong. My son was transferred to NICU to be monitored for jaundice. In NICU there is this fat nurse on floor she was trying-help my wife breast feed my son and she said my wife is being a baby and not tolerating pain. I didn’t know what to do to help her with pain, took her to the walk in. Even that doctor said nothing is wrong and sent us back. After 1 and 1/2 day I couldn’t take her pain complain and rushed her to emergency only to find out that she do have some liquid trapped in her tummy. Then they emptied her Bladder and removed more than 2 litres or bloody urine at this point my wife said I am feeling less uneasy. This is the first time she felt happy but she didn’t know there is blood in her urine. The doctor admitted her in the hospital but couldn’t tell anything about the liquid in her tummy. After 2/3 days they put a drainage in her tummy to darin the fluid to test and they don’t know what it is. they suspected bladder ruptures but it was found only after 5 repeated scans. Then she went for a surgery and got her 25% of her bladder removed. Not only for 21 days she suffered pain discomfort she had to stay away from his new born son. I wondered where it all went wrong and questioned 3 of my friends who recently delivered and all said one this that was missed in our care. No one questioned my wife about emptying her bladder and no one checked for any retention. I strongly believe all this happed because she couldn’t empty her bladder. There is a lot more to say but I don’t think I will achieve anything writing here but I will list our losses. She lost her initial contact with our son for 21 days, lost her breast milk, couldn’t host a proper naming ceremony for our first born, suffered severe trauma, under went a surgery, gained weight and went to India for one year. I can walk to this hospital from my home but I am going to keep this as my last option.

Jaki Hynes

My Mom was brought in there in August, it is now October. The nurses & Dr. Fishman on the 8th floor are excellent, they are extremly caring and we couldn't ask for a better place for my mom to be. I especially have to say that Anne and Alessi have been wonderful and give care and attention to my mom even though it is not their job. The ER is okay but it is not at all the worst in Toronto.

Mohamed Dahsri

I was here yesterday. I went in because I was having a panic attack and nothing seemed to work. They checked me in quickly and put me in a wheelchair. I went over to register and within two minutes I was done. They then told me to go to the back and hand over my file. Right away I was put in the emergency room and a doctor came to assess me. They ordered me an ECG a blood test and chest x-ray. This all took about an hour and a half. They even referred me to see a psychiatrist in the same hospital. I'm very satisfied with the service and care this hospital shows. For people who complain all you have to do is smile and be patient... these people are here to save your life but they're doing this all day long. Just smile be grateful and appreciate the healthcare we have in Canada. If this was any other country it would cost us thousands or Millions. Kudos to the staff at Rouge!!

Bek C

Currently I am locked in a 10x10 room. I have been locked in this room alone, with no food or water for nearly 6 hours now. I was told the doctor would come see me nearly 2 hours ago and still no doctor. I was told when I was brought in that I just needed a medical check up and instead now they are trying to detain me for 5 days when I've said repeatedly I'm fine. THE TREATMENT I RECIEVED AT THIS HOSPITAL IS THE EXACT REASON PEOPLE DONT SEEK HELP FOR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES I'm starving, my throat is so dry it's bleeding and this place is only making my mental health WORSE

Adeline Beton

Had shoulder surgery here a couple months ago. Typical wait time which I can't argue with. I was told ahead of time that I would be in the hospital between 4-6 hours for day surgery which sounded about right as I was there for 6 hours. Nurses were helpful, anesthesiologist was awesome and so was my surgeon and everyone else that helped. I was passed out for half of it but they definitely made me feel as comfortable as possible before and after my surgery. I commend all the hospital staff the work so hard everyday. Just like other hospitals, all of the staff here do their best to ensure each patient is taken care of. Not only are they understaffed but they are also overworked so thank you to all the nurses, doctors, technicians and everyone working in this hospital.

Daunting Muse

Currently keeping a patient with kidney issues locked from the bathrooms and no access to water. This is criminal and if it doesnt change IMMEDIATELY I will be contacting the police and the media. Other than that I guess there is not much we can do other than ignore them torturing the mentally ill. Disgusting. Fix your hospital or shut it down so proper hospitals can have a little bit more funding.

Gia 1973

Very dirty hospital I'm shock because I'm scared if my son don't take any bacteria from hospital

Chris Kapalowski

Worst hospital experience I ever had. Had a mini-stroke at work in Scarborough and was taken to this nearby hospital. After the efficient paramedics, I was abandoned at this "ER". First things first, had to pay the ambulance bill then and there. Then, scared and not feeling well - no one even took my blood pressure once for over 3 hours. Finally my daughter arrived and took me to Trillium where I was examined at once, thoroughly tested and immediately admitted for six days until they felt everything was stable. What a difference.

Harold Cabitac

One of the worst services we have experienced . We have been very patient in waiting out turn and try to be as understanding about the work load of the hospital. The staff has not been of any help to assure us that we are getting any help. My wife was brought in at 1 pm via ambulance and was seen by a doctor at 4:00 pm. Finally when we were seen by the doctor , he said we needed blood tests done. Waited for another half an hour. The lab tech also had extreme difficulty drawing blood which caused more pain for my already weak and hungry wife. There must be something that can be done. People will get worse staying in the emergency room.

Kinthuja Kiru

If I could, I would rate this hospital w no stars. Nurses are absolutely unprofessional, they are always running out of things (hospital gowns, thermometers, the proper container for stool etc.), ALWAYS short on staff. I live a few minutes away from this hospital and always thought it was great because it is close by, but definitely will be going to another location from here on out.

Dimond M

Paramedics are unprofessional, the staff and medical professionals are careless/condescending and the phone service doesn't actually know what is going on in the hospital. Overall not the kind of service you deserve while inquiring about your health and well being.

violetvibes

i was admitted to the mental health inpatient unit, and some of the nurses were amazing and i miss them. but others gotta chill. one in particular who was "assigned" to me made me feel constantly anxious bcus of her attitude. i would try to speak my truth but then made feel like i said something wrong. on the other hand, i would hear other guy workers (dont know their exact role) yell at another girl for breaking rules. i understand its frustrating when someone wont listen to you, but it really disturbed me due to how harsh they were. thankfully i was on their good side so they treated me nicely, but i still got kinda scared. really the food was the only thing to look forward to tbh. the lemon tarts were bomb. i liked how once ur out of covid isolation, ur free to take whatever u like from the kitchen fridge. ps; if u end up coming here, ask for some word games or books to keep u entertained during (approx 3 day) isolation. it rly helps.

JUNED AHMED RUMON

I give 5 star for birth unit. Bt I really disappointed with emergency department . They should change the emergency to slow department. For emergency department i will give them 1 star.

Vinsia Maharajah

My grandma was taken in to the ER and everyone she dealt with was incredibly kind, caring and took care of her so well. Huge shoutout to 8 East and 9 West’s teams, Dr.Makki and everyone else who helped her regain her strength. My family is forever grateful! ????????

Chris Cam

Absolutely horrible experience, the ER is a joke. Front desk/station nurse was absent and unavailable for a lengthy period of time, and when she finally attended to me, she had attitude, was rude and wrongfully directed how I should have managed my medications and my emergency. She undermined mental health scenarios as "not an emergency" and I was not taken seriously. Not compassionate or understanding at all of patients' conditions. The other nurse that dealt with me too, had the audacity to tell me that my emergency was not a real emergency and suggested to have seen my GP. When someone experiences spontaneous and lingering pain in the middle of the night, the last thing they want to do is wait for daytime hours in discomfort in order to see their GP Negligence at its finest, lowest quality care I've experienced from a health care facility. The waiting room was disgusting and had blood on the floor. Only one doctor was available. I had waited 5 hours, and by the time I went to inquire about the remaining wait time - the same nurse repeated that I shouldn't have come because I didn't have a "real emergency". I left still in pain and upset before I could have been seen by a doctor OR even transferred into one of their other many waiting rooms. Can't believe this is what our taxes support. Never returning here again. I've gotten better care from retail stores and grocery stores than this place.

Ahmed Farooq

Absolutely horrendous experience having my grandfather stay here. Nurses do less than the bare minimum to take care of their elderly patients. There is a horrible culture of care. They have all over their walls "excellence in care" which is completely the opposite of what I saw. Go to any other hospital in the province of Ontario before going here.

Reuben Prakash

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLY UNCERTIFIED. I came here because I had trouble breathing. A nurse opened my mouth and looked inside and said I had an infection, prescribing me antibiotics, puffers and so on.(No tests were done other then him putting a wooden stick in my mouth) None of my symptoms stopped and only had gotten worse. I ended up going to another emergency where they actually ran tests. They found out I had an inflamed gallbladder, which was surgically removed because of how severe it got. Turns out I didn't have an infection. The doctors at the other hospital I went to laughed. THEN..... My girlfriend broke her foot. She went to this same hospital where they told her it was a sprain and to go home and just to stay off it. After a few days the pain got worse and her foot swelled and turned different colors. She went back again and they told her again to go home that it was fine. The third time she went to Scarborough General a different hospital where they found that her foot was indeed broken. It's sad to see a hospital who can't properly diagnose their patients. Honestly it's horrible what kind of hospital these people are running. And if I was dying and Centenary Hospital was the only hospital I was closest to, I would really want to die then going there for anything.

Scott Y

Do not come to America nurses and doctors, you are now being watched!

Neveen Masoud

A horrible hospital. I was admitted to the hospital July 9th with some sort of allergic reaction that effected my body in a very strange way. My heart beat with up the roof and I was screaming for no reason and I couldn't stop. It was totally out my control. Imagine your family watching you scream but the staff are just walking by on eggshells and when finally one nurse graced us with her presences she kept telling me and my brother to hush down. My bother keeps saying that i can't control herself then she still kept saying sir i can't do my job if you don't both hush down. My brother told her just take the blood already. She got up left and said i can't work like this, wait then. She tighted arm so hard it turn blue. I was in so much pain i didn't notice, thankfully my brother did. It took them another hour to find another nurse to take blood. Horrible staff, horrible management. Zero sympathy for families who are behind stressed.

mac & vin

If ever your kid(s) needs to rush in the EMERGENCY ROOM, DO NOT bring your kid(s) here as the waiting time is very long due to priorization. They DO NOT priority children here at ER. Or call 911, that is only way here to accommodate your kids need.

Shawn K

My aunt was advised by Dr. Price for a gastroscopy. The physician that did the procedure (Deepak Lakra) caused severe jaw damage to her mouth at Centenary hospital. The severe pain was verified after visiting the dentist's as they did not provide any help. After explaining the situation to the office they deny any wrong doing and only recommend taking Tylenol. These physicians don't take accountibility for their mistakes. Would not recommend anyone to this doctor.

tina elyas

Had a great experience with my daughter’s surgery. All the nurses and Dr’s were very professional and friendly. Made my daughter and I feel comfortable and relaxed. I was able to go with her in the operating room until she fell asleep. Dr Minz was amazing , she was fast and came out after the surgery to let me know that all went well. The recovery nurse was very kind and gentle, checked on us many times, gave me all the instructions and information that we needed. I gotta say big thanks to everyone. Ye the surgery nurse was very kind as well.

Kim

You had better avoid this hospital if you can. The hospital staff can't assist me and the RNs are not compassionate and attentive enough after I give birth to second child. I feel uncomfortable and frustrated with themselves and my situation.

May Bee Sunshine

Ive seen a few Changes thru the years and they are always trying to make improvements. I added a directory of the services and floors..... .... or perhaps you want to do a little shopping at the hospitals Tapestry gift shop ....or just relax or grab a quick bite from one of the many eaterys.

Kareen DiLiso

The nurses in the emergency department are soooooooo rude. Unbelievable. I appreciate all nurses. I honestly couldn't do your job. I have so much respect for you and what you do. But please try to have patience. Try to remember how scared a sick person is. UPDATE: Stay Away Went today with my baby and left. I didn't make it past the waiting room. In a 10 x 5 space there were 9 people. There is NO social distancing. Go somewhere else that's safe.

Tino L.

They will end up killing my mother tonight with their lack of care and malpractice. More to update. If she makes it through the night, I will have to try and get her out of there to another hospital Update: she has passed in March 9th.

katelyn guthrie

awful. the staff in the mental health inpatient unit treated me like an animal. if i would shed a single tear i would be yelled at, they would use curse words and criticize every part of me. all i wanted to do was feel safe, they did the opposite. i am thinking of looking at my legal options. my friend has diagnosed trauma from his stay at this hospital. there is so much more i could say. i am hurt. never go here for mental health aid, you will not receive it.

Mashtura Manzur

I have mental health illness. No that does not mean I'm suicide. I overdosed on some pills causing me to have some breathing and nauseous problems. I wanted help on being more happy but instead they put me in a room you would put inmates. The walls are damaged due to who know what; looked like someone was banging a object on the wall leaving dents. The room had a camera in the corner, no window and locked up with skinny window to look through. I wanted help not be more depressed. Worse hospital, worse nurses and doctors. Horrible. I rather suffer at home than be at that hospital.

Alex Selvana

Worst hospital in my entire life. On friday july 08 around 3 am Took my cousin for emergency fever around and did not get to see doctor by 6;50 am i had enough this rude inexperienced nurse when we asked about how long she said "you just got here" are you kidding me its a baby we cannot wait. I asked her to cancel she goes "o ok bye whats your last name" and we told her and walked out for another hospital. This place is full of lazy people as we have been watching her all that over 3 hours she been placing with her phone. Seems like there is no manager watching these front desk nurse.

Jeff Greenway

I was shocked and appalled at the way my 77 year-old mother was treated when she came in by ambulance after a bad fall. After going through triage and waiting for a bit, they put us in a private room right behind the front desk. And then promptly forgot about us. For two hours. It wasn't until I went out and asked at the front desk what was going on that a nurse rushed back to tell someone to take care of us. It's important to note that the waiting room was EMPTY at this point. When the nurses did come in to see us, they were rude, arrogant and totally disinterested in my Mom's care. One nurse refused to help her use the washroom until I volunteered to help her. Am I getting paid for this?? This was not the only bad experience we had with this hospital and I am never, NEVER going back.

David Liu

This is the worst hospital ever. I woke up with severe stomach pain. It felt like I was being continuously sliced with a knife and acid was being poured on it. To begin, I entered the hospital and went through the first receptionist just give. The second one however, was rude and didn't care that I was clearly in pain. She gave me attitude and seemed annoyed that I could not answer her questions properly as if I had a choice to choose to be in servere pain. When I got in, the nurses changing my IV didn't give a dawm when it ran out. I could see then gossiping at their desk, too busy to treat their patients. When I was having my cat scan, I was screaming in pain and shivering and the nurse just kept laughing at me as if I was a clown to her. After 7 hours of torture, they came back with the results and told me there was nothing wrong with me. How could there be nothing wrong with me if I was screaming in pain for 7 hours? the only thing this hospital did for me was to put me on morphine. All they did at the end is telling me to have Tylenol ,which btw, did not work. I would never go back to this hospital again.

syed raza

Terrible emergency service and worst screening staff at the entrance on November 5 at 11:25 pm, no compassion, No humility .

Joel Lamoure

Professional and high attention to detail for cleanliness and focus on the patient experience using technology. Safe COVID screening and dividers through the facility.

Ryan

WE NEED MORE SUPPORT FOR SCARBOROUGH! Thank you SHN for everything you’ve done!

R T

The ER is a nightmare. The triage was almost nonexistent upon entry and it took almost half an hour even with heart palpitations. The next concern was the fact there was no seating available and many chairs are broken so if you're sick good luck in getting a chair. Another disturbing fact was there were two homeless people sitting in the emergency room. The bathroom facilities are disgusting with mice droppings on the floor. I know the government has made cuts to Health Care but this is one of the dirtiest hospitals I have ever encountered. The sad part is it was once a very good hospital and very well-managed. Centenary Hospital what has happened to you?

Melissa Dookhan

Fracture clinic is the most horrible place to go. Please don't see any doctor at this place. They have no clue what they are doing.

Surekah M

Strong lack of compassion, sympathy and human emotion at this hospital!! Seems like the doctors and nurses only come in to get paid but not to look after their patients well being. Have heard of horror stories of friends being wrongly diagnosed and had to switch to another hospital???? You will get 0 empathy here and will be disregarded as such !

Taylor Imrie

Terrible terrible hospital. My 89 year old grandmother not given a room...even worse, she waited nearly 7 hours for a PILLOW (she also has arthritis in her neck). Staff not very friendly or useful. Screaming children were not put in paediatrics but rather with older people trying to rest.

tittop thomas

One of the worst hospital in the canada. Most of the staffs are very dude, especially nursing. They dont understand patients feeling as well.. Better dont go there..

Sandipan Roy

As I write this review, my wife has undergone a cancer related surgery yesterday and is still in this miserable hospital (Room 518 a) to undergo another procedure. Here are some observations: 1. She had a very challenging last night with the male nurse not being supportive at all. 2. The bathroom was unusable being wet due to leaky shower. 3. Broken toilet seat. 4. Text from my wife this morning: "Now someone came to fix the shower and called another plumber The toilet seat is broken and now they are looking for one I cannot say enough of how much everything has deteriorated since I was here...." Based on the above, the hospital management is obviously very incompetent. Can the Government of Ontario look into this mismanagement?

Jesse

I read the reviews here and thought it couldn't really be that bad, it is. The nurses here are rude, lazy and unprofessional. I had to stay overnight for a tonsillectomy and wished I had refused and just gone home instead. I had to refill my own ice packs after asking for an hour, and then they tried to refuse to let me do it myself. They were so slow on giving pain medication that I had to sit around with it wearing off multiple times. I would have been better off going to the pharmacy and getting my post-surgery prescription and taking it myself. They kept making excuses that i was a shift change, because apparently it takes 2 hours to change shift. Meanwhile I can hear them out in the hall chatting and complaining they have too many patients, except instead of helping them they are standing around complaining. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS you absolutely have to. TERRIBLE NURSES

Madeline Twigg

I had good experience with the surgeon who operated on me, along with his nurses and all the staff in the operating room and post operating room. The anesthealogist was also nice. I felt like they took very good care of me.

J Flo

My husband was a patient here several years ago. Right from his experience in the ER to being discharged a month later the whole experience was incredibly troubling. One morning I took my husband to the ER because my husband was having difficulty breathing. His ER nurse was rude and short tempered. His nurse on the floor he was moved to was lazy - she didn't want to keep masking and gowning up to come into his 'infection control' room, so she just yelled at us through the glass. When his breathing deteriorated, she told us to wait till after shift report - he literally was gasping for air and I had to insist that she helped him. Even the doctor was upset with the nurse's behaviour. Finally his doctor moved him to ICU to get better care for him. He was there for 10 days, during which time they overlooked that he was unable to eat even though he was on total life support and he barely touched any of his meals. They were unsure what service to assign to him - he had an infection in his lungs, heart and liver, so he ended up being managed by a respirologist, even though being unable to breathe was just a symptom of what was wrong with him, this guy was inadequate and sat the family down to talk about pulling the plug on him because they couldn't find a way to make him better, they were running 5 different antibiotics at the same time that were having no effect. A consultation with another doctor at Centenary advised that my husband's liver infection should be drained, but he respirologist refused to do this. I wasn't prepared to pull the plug on my husband, instead I asked them to get a second opinion, they told me that they didn't do this. I asked them to move him to another hospital, they said they didn't do this either. Exasperated, I told them that I was going to put him in my own car and take him to another hospital - very quickly he was transferred to a larger hospital downtown. Even the paramedic transferring him asked why he didn't have a feeding tube! The first thing the other hospital did was to drain the infection from his liver and within a day he was recovering. When he was well enough he had to be transferred back to the original (inadequate) hospital. By now it had been almost a month that he had been in hospital and he was completely atrophied due to them never providing any physio. He couldn't walk to get to the bathroom and if I hadn't been there all day long, who knows how he would have managed, I often walked into his room to find that he'd had an 'accident' that hadn't been taken care of. After a week back at Centenary they discharged him with an IV and liver drain and no discharge instructions or follow up instructions. Not even a nurse came to see us out. We had been cut loose, with just one quick visit from a nurse each week and no one at home to care for him, so I had no choice but to take two months off work. We had no instructions on how to get the IV and liver drain removed and the site of his PIC line was getting infected. I had to 'fake' an emergency and go to the ER to get this done as all of the doctors who had seen him during his hospitalization claimed that he wasn't their responsibility. Eventually he made a full recovery and gained back the 45lbs he lost from not being fed, it took a long time to get him back to his regular 175lbs. It took a long time for him to be able to walk again and even hold a pen to write. Sadly this isn't the first bad experience we had with this hospital - this was the local hospital for us and after a work injury my husband was taken here - again discharged from ER with no instructions for wound care or follow up. Another time he had a cast put on his hand so tight that his circulation was cut off and had to be removed - again no care instructions provided. If you're ever unsure that you're getting good care at any hospital never be afraid to insist on a transfer, it could save someone's life. It did in my case and I still have a husband, but he has never fully gotten over the mental trauma that being a patient here caused him.

Do not come to this hospital if you have a serious medical emergency because you will just be sitting for hours and hours waiting. After me sitting for 4+ hours I was only finally seen by a doctor after I started crying from being in pain, vomiting and having a serious fever. They also wouldn’t let my mom in and it took my mom calling the hospital and telling them about my personal mental health issues in order for them to allow her to stay and support me as I could barely stand up and no hospital staff were helping me even though they saw I was in distress and in pain.

The worst experience I have ever had in a Canadian hospitals! I would not recommend anyone to go to this hospital. I ended up there because the ambulance took me. From Dr's to the cleaning staff got tremendous amount of unfounded attitude and unprofessional conduct! If you cherish your and your loved one's health, please save yourselves and do not go there!

Worse hospital ever... some of the nurses or nice... good luck speaking with a doctor or trying to get information... they need to do a better job in communicating with families and keeping people updated. It's so hard to get anything done here, they're very understaffed and literally forget your requests because they are over worked.. something really needs to change. Im so disappointed in the Canadian health care system.

Neha Gupta

The emergency department needs desperate help. The processes are not optimal resulting in horribly long wait lines and frustrated patients. I have been waiting two hour just for a follow- up appointment. Mind you this is after I was told the appointment is already set for a day and time. Why do I have to wait for so long? Are they trying to make me sick and ensure I catch something else?? The staff is mixed with some who have great manner and others who are horribly rude to patients. Won’t be coming back here - strongly suggest the management looks at how to improve inefficient processes!

Nazwa Salim

I had the most worst and the most unexpectedly irresponsible behaviour from the receptionist of the Carecore clinic. Called them 3 times repeatedly for 2 continuous days to hear the same thing that my report was sent over to my doctor whereas in reality it was not..

Roberta Bradley

Awful experience haven't even made it to the clinic yet referral was made in November was called then told apt jan 28 when I seen my doctor the week of jan 20 he said I missed apt that it was on the 18th i called clinic every day given the run around then told my son would be priority given an apt asap by Friday the 25th called today he was given an apt at end of March and secretary basically told me tough the doctor is only here 1 day a week. Awful customer service would not recommend to anyone

If you are considering bringing a loved one to the ER at this hospital, I highly encourage you to reconsider and go elsewhere. To say that the bedside manner and behaviour towards patients and their families is subpar is an understatement. I have already contacted Patient Relations re: our experience at this hospital. My mom has been to this hospital several times and her experience with the staff has always been the same - always rude and ZERO bedside manner. As someone who also works in an acute care hospital, I understand the nuances and the stress of working in this environment. However, it is not an excuse for the rude behaviour and lack of professionalism, and empathy exhibited by the staff members here. These people need to remember that they are treating ailing patients and not just a piece of meat. The last thing an ailing patient and their family needs is this kind of behaviour. If these staff members had a family member that was brought in to this hospital, would they find it acceptable if their loved one received this kind of treatment? I sure hope not. Is it not common courtesy to treat other people with respect and empathy? I guess these expectations are too high for this facility. Also, the communication between the staff members re: the procedures and policies re: COVID was inconsistent. This is extremely concerning. Stay clear of this hospital. I cannot believe that our taxpayer money is going towards the salaries of these staff members.

Free parking for COVID vaccine clinic visitors! Book your appointment for vaccination. Enter through Neilson and follow signs for vaccination wing. Grab a ticket for parking meter and take it inside with you. They will process it (waive!) for you. Super helpful staff and very smooth service!

My experience here was a very good one. The nurses and PSWs of 9 East were super friendly and caring towards my grandmother (can’t speak for the other departments). They made sure everything was kept under control; from her medical problems to her comfort. It felt they really cared for her well-being. From many negative experiences from other hospitals, I was very happy with the staff and service here.

M Z

Telling former patients to follow up their complaints with your PR team is such a weak response. Why not just forward the complaints or get a better system in place. You guys do answer which is good but it's just something for you to think about as people will generally not bother after already responding.

Furious Don

Post surgery nurses are awful. If I had the time I could easily sue this hospital for mistreatment. Came out of surgery and was dizzy. No one came to help or ask how I did. One nurse came up and told me to leave. No wheelchair, nothing. I fell over due to the anesthesia still wearing off while walking out of the hospital.

My experience was awesome love to go their if need to the people was so helpful and very organized. It the best way for People to get vaccines. Pop up vaccine highly recommended because I thought it be difficult but was simple easy God bless all of us. Pop up clinic wonderful experience.

Terrible staff.. when I mean terrible I mean terrible. The way handled my friends seizure episodes was unprofessional. When no one was in the room my friend had a seizure.. she pressed the button cus that’s what she was taught to do.. she couldn’t talk at all, they literally tried to have a convo with her and not come to her room door to see what’s wrong kmt by that time they went in her episode was done and they wrote down that she had a “Panic Attack” which was only after the seizure because her eyesight is terrible.. I personally feel that the staff there is just lazy because I also went to the emergency floor cus me, my daughter and sister was in a fire and we had to wait for an hour to see the doctor to check on the baby at least.. I would not go there EVER.

Growing up I heard so many negative things about this place, and I could never understand why. Fast forward many years later all grown up, mom of 3 with my 4th on the Way. I had the worse experience ever this place is hell on earth for an expecting mother. The nursing staff is terrible, not all but majority. They say the most insensitive things, if you are in preterm labor dont EVER come here. You will have a mental breakdown as I did. I was asked to leave my bed while in pain because as the nurse stated word for word "sorry I'm kicking you out of your bed because we need it for someone else, there is a waiting room down the hall with chairs you can wait there until we know what to do with you" I came in pregnant in pain, another hospital said I tested positive for preterm labor hours after they sent me home due to my cervix still being closed, I was told to follow up with my birthing OB/hospital. I sat in a chair for an hour leg cramps, cervix pain feeling like my child didn't matter cause as one other nurse said you're only 22 weeks, why would they even test you, so what, retest me then to make sure that hospital was wrong. "Nothing can be done for those babies" why do any nurse feel the need to say that or continuously imply it to a mother who is already in distress. They said and implied the most insensitive things (viability was constantly implied because I was ONLY 22 WEEKS so what, let the doctors make those calls and tell the patient not a nurse trying to be doctors scaring the heck out of mothers) . My experience left me broken, depressed and crying for hours. My baby was ok in the end but in that moment, those almost 5 hours of not actually knowing for sure and relying on them to help me and tell me. The experience traumatized me. No one saw me for a while, no doctor saw me for hours even tho they came and passed. For someone coming in for the possibility of preterm labor that is just horrible. 22 weeks or not. Have some respect, some sympathy, some empathy. Do what you can and be kind to patients, people kill themselves over the words of others. I would rather they not say anything, do their jobs thoroughly and I leave or hear my options. I had to drop my OB and find a new one just so I don't have to deliver my child at this place with nurses like those caring for us. Plz watch your kids who are born here or come for help here I can't imagine what these nurses say around them. UPDATE: after taking a second look my doctor saw that she missed an ultrasound report stating that a plum size mass was found on my placenta. So it was not just nothing. The hospital calles personally to apologize which greatly made me happy. Thank you

I believe that there are wonderful doctors and nurses that work at this hospital. I have experienced some wonderful doctors and nurses at the hospital but only in the maternity ward. I understand that the ER is a very busy place, I also understand that the staff have a lot of responsibility and have to multitask. Every single time I have been to the emergency room I have had nothing but a horrible experience, even when I had to bring my 2 year old daughter there. The staff can be very rude and very dismissive. Doctors do not give enough information. My 2 year old dislocated her elbow, the doctor did not tell me what he was doing when he was putting it back in place. He did not even tell me my daughter had a dislocated elbow. I had to ask the nurse when she came in and said “you’re all good to go” good to go where? Because no one told me anything, I did not receive one piece of information from the doctor. I will not be going back to this hospital, even if I am in the most pain in my life. I will drive 20 minutes to another hospital if I have to, I will not step foot back into that hospital. As I said I know and believe there are wonderful doctors and nurses, they are just not in the ER.

Therun Nakkeeran

Awful service, Do not admit anyone you care about to this hospital, no professionalism whatsoever. Nurses are incredibly rude and Doctors have no clue on what is going on. Lack of communication. Poor hygiene levels. No care at all for the patients. This is a cemetery not a hospital. We need good hospitals in the world, so fix up.

Aleena Donawa

My mother had MRI today. Not once was anything in the waiting room cleaned after patients. My mother got changed in a room then another man went right in after not a single bit of cleaning done. No social distancing patient side by side in changing rooms. How is it that severything is closed but the hospital isn't following public health protocol

Johnny Tameta

If I could give a negative star I would. That is how bad this hospital is. The nurse that was on the hour today was really nice, but the rest of the experience is horrible. I bet some of the doctors and nurses there are amazing, but the ones on call today were not the best. Let me start off by saying that they DO NOT care about patient care nor patient satisfaction from my experience. They are also very slow at their job. I understand and respect that there is a pandemic and these frontline workers are trying, but are they trying their best? Here is what happened, my family was on call with our 90 year old grandmother with Covid-19 and she is very sick and cannot do things on her own. We saw that her oxygen mask was falling off(this happened two times) and we tried calling the nurse through the nurses phone. My uncle called and they did answer and say that they would go, but 10 minutes passed and all of us got nervous, so I and my other cousin called the line. The (I am assuming nurse) who answered the phone picked up and hung up right away. For my cousin they answered and said that they would go and check. This took around 8 minutes for the nurse to be informed and visit her room. The next time her oxygen mask came off, I was offended by the person who answered the phone because they were extremely rude. Patients' family should be treated with care also because we are nervous and also scared, they should not be yelled at or antagonized. My uncle called first once again, thankfully they answered, but 12 minutes passed once again and no one was there, so I decided to call and see what was happening. I called and they answered and the MAN who answered the phone was extremely rude. He said "We cannot have all (all being only my uncle and I) of you calling this number, how many people are on the zoom call." I proceeded to say that I was sorry and all of us are just very nervous. He replied with "we cannot have you calling all the time when her mask falls off, other people like the doctors call to order here and this is only for emergencies, so we will check as soon as we are available." They are saying that when a 90 year old Covid-19 patient's oxygen mask is falling off, it is not an emergency to them!? I am thinking, "what if we were not on call? What would have happened?" This leads to my point that the patient care, the satisfaction, and the empathy is not there for this hospital.

Visited this hospital & Dr Hummel at the fracture clinic today. I found all the staff I interacted with were very helpful & friendly. I had to go to xray as well and only had to wait 5 mins. Proceded to fracture clinic where I waited maybe another 10 mins to see Dr Hummel. Fracture clinic was busy & reception was very polite & friendly. Dr Hummel is very kind & gentle & would highly recommend this facility.

I had a script from my Dr there, and brought it down to the Shoppers Drugmart. The rude, ignorant, miserable pharmacist, an East Indian Fellow), is the worst Pharmacist i have ever had the displeasure of trying to deal with, in all of my 56 years. He shouldn't be allowed to walk people's pets, let alone deal with customer service. I am writing to corporate headquarters to file a formal complaint, then a formal complaint to the College of Pharmacists. 0/10 across the board! I mention his nationality ONLY so others may watch for him, and see if he's a rude, fool to them as well, or if it's just me.✌????????

Jenani RATNAKUMARAN

I hate the emergency department at centenary hospital. Nurse who named Dorus in emergency department is very rude and racist. All patients are very disappointed. Patients must be treated with very kind and respect manner but here, the hospitality service is totally at zero rate. She need to learn how to behave with patients and she totally disqualified for this profession. I never going to visit this hospital.

Shanaz Mohammed

If I could give this place no stars I would. 4+ hours and still waiting for a doctor to see my 10 year old. Want to go to a place where there is absolutely no compassion and no efficiency this is the place for it. If I had anyyyyyy other option than to come here I would not be here! Avoid at all costs unless your near death ...then they may attend to you!

Luca

I went to this hospital for diliver my first baby.after admitted to the hospital they started everything good ,then after we are totally disappoint with their service. The nurses and staff taking care of us after the baby was born was another story. They have a different attitude and was not as helpful and professional. They seem lay back and lazy. Some of the nurses and doctors do their job from the heart. Otherwise totally bad service they provide.especially nurses. Totally three days I was there.from the second day to until I discharge (2days) there is a nurse her name is PREMA,who provide her service to us.the service she provide to us is totally heartbreaking. once we call her for help she bark like a dog. Is she didn't know how to treat patients at the hospital? Even she didn't arrange wheel chair for me while I was discharged.and she didn't instruct us how to use car seat for baby.she told us to do and once it finished call her. We don't know how the hospital provide good service for patients with these ugly manner nurses and staffs. Totally unhappy with hospitality.

Management and patient relations lack empathy and have caused me additional grief in my father’s passing! My father was admitted to the 9th floor. He had dementia and according to hospital policy (pandemic) he was entitled to an essential caregiver but was denied. Patient Relations was contacted, spoke with Susan and was told that access was not granted immediately and she would consult with the floor manager to approve caregiver access. The request was made after my dad was admitted and there was no follow-up regarding this! I’m also disappointed that we were not given much video time, we had to resort to friends in the hospital who were able to give us additional phone time. It’s a shame that we had to ask our internal connects to have this time with my dad virtually. On the day of my dad’s passing, we were told that he had a few days left to live and we were denied compassionate visits. Again, this was a breach in the hospital’s policies. According to policy if a patient is at end of life they are entitled to compassionate visits. The nursing station only granted us a video call at around 6pm and he passed at 9:20pm. The nursing station advised us of his passing, we requested to see my dad and was denied. My family and I arrived at the hospital and were told that we would only be able to see my dad at the funeral home. I became aggressive with security and screeners in order to see my deceased father. The day after my father’s passing patient relations was contacted, spoke to Susan and the conversation did not go well because she didn’t know that my father had passed. This means that my request was never looked at. Due to their lack of compassion and empathy it cost my father his last moments with his family. Susan was not empathetic and told me that she would contact me after consulting the floor manager. A week later Susan and the floor manager called to justify their mistakes and deflect their shortcomings. They hid behind covid stating the unit was under suspected outbreak for covid, however my dad had 3 covid tests and all were negative. They hid behind IPAC protocols but broke those same protocols when I showed up and created havoc. I work in long term care and we follow SHN directives and IPAC protocols. How is my nursing home which follows the same rules are able to grant compassionate visits regardless of suspected or declared outbreaks and the hospital didn’t? Both Susan and floor manager made remarks such as “what do you want us to tell you? What would make you feel better?” I did not appreciate their tone, they didn’t accept any ownership for not reviewing my dad’s caregiver request and for denying him compassionate visits. I disconnected the call as they continued to deflect all of my concerns. Fast forward, 2 months later my uncle was covid+, admitted to the 8th floor and then transferred to covid ICU. In his last week of life, he was granted compassionate visits, 1 hour, 1 visitor, per day (in COVIC ICU Unit). In the last 2 days of life, my uncle was granted 2 visitors at a time on rotation and was able to share his last moments with his family collectively. In my uncle’s final moments, we were able to be by his side. (All 10 of us in the covid ICU room). I’m grateful that my uncle was surrounded by his loved ones during his passing however it shed light on how poorly my dad’s end of life was handled. Not only do I grieve for my father but I carry guilt that he passed without any of us by his side. I’m extremely upset that my dad’s end of life was not handled with compassion and dignity. I'm enraged with anger that my dad was robbed of his family when it mattered most. Dealing with death is not easy, and the fact that the hospital inflicted this guilt on me is upsetting. My father’s rights were ignored, and this guilt I carry was due to someone else’s discretion at the hospital. I hate that management and patient relations ignored policies (visible on website), hid behind covid and robbed us of our father’s final moments. For the hospital my dad was just another number, but for me he was my father.

The ER is not and ER, it’s a walk-in clinic. Went in at 10:30 pm with palpitations, didn’t get an ECG until 11:30 pm and didn’t leave the hospital until 5:00 am. There aren’t no beds, just hard plastic chairs, so you can’t even rest properly. They should also have more than 1 doctor working the ER and perhaps some residents as well. I would suggest going to Toronto General if you can, they treat you like a human being.

Panayiotis Michael

Very rude emergency triage nurse, lack of compassion and attitude to get rid of you then to help the ill. Never had such a bad bedside manners from a triage nurse like this one ever BEFORE ! it’s a disgrace to the healthcare industry to have nurses like this. Shame on you and your department !

Mohamed Zakarya

Visited the Emergency Department of the Hospital on August 17. Except for the individuals at the 2 Triage, who appeared to be carrying on a casual chat while I waited, everyone else was professional and friendly. Special thanks to Dr Jonathan S Rosenberg. Great job guys.

I went to this hospital today to get first dose of COVID vaccine as a frontline healthcare provider. I had a letter from my employer which mentions my tittle and proves that I work at Scarborough. I also provided my certificate of registration with my regulatory college. I have been asked for paystubs or T4, which I don't have none of them because my position in my workplace counts as self employed. I get my salary by e-transfer and they asked me to show the emails with regard to money transfers. I did. However, those were not enough proof for them and they insisted me to show my bank account to prove that I really received those payments... I refused this request because I don't think they have a right to check my bank account and it sounded quite inappropriate to me. They only believed me when I showed them my work location on the website of my regulatory college... All this drama happened because my work letter was not enough for them to prove that I work at Scarborough. However, I know from the first hand that, last week they vaccinated some other healthcare providers who works at North York. After passing from document check, the rest was really quick and the staff was really nice.

Went here to have my gallbladder removed l was nervous but the the nurse's were very caring the nurse's in the recovery area even called me at home the next morning to see how I was doing! Everyone should be thankful for the nurse's and doctors and grateful we have this hospital

Rajveer Prasad

My son was born here. The nurses and doctors were on time and took care of my wife post delivery. No regrets. They even have complimentary wifi so I could cover some work while she was hospitalised.

Nikky Fleming

Actually don't even deserve one star . Shocking health system . Staff are so rude and unprofessional. I came over to canada on a visa and they did not want to help me with treatment. But love sending out the bills which I will not be paying. I've rang numerous times to explain my situation and got shouted at on the phone. Your a shame to toronto. !!!!

Kavi Mahadevan

Literally the most unprofessional staff at the emegernecy room .. nurses are rude and could care less about your situation. After finishing with the routine nurse inquiry I go give my health card and fill in my information and the girl sitting there is having a full on conversation with a male nurse about him proposing to his fiancée. Kept turning away from me while asking me questions to see pictures on his phone, and another female nurse keeps telling every co worker walking in that she bought a new bmw while patients are waiting in line. I’ve been here since 7:30 now it’s 10 I’m still waiting. If you’re not trying to spend your day in a hospital with rude nurses and receptionists I suggest you go to a better hospital. The one in Ajax is amazing if you don’t mind the drive.

Sammay Tor

I wasn't the patient, but I went in with my mother (only until triage) and was surprised at how RUDE their triage staff are. I hope this isn't a reflection of the rest of their staff.

Kan Rev

My Family member went here last night after trouble breathing (positive for COVID). He waited in an isolation room for several hours and was told he may be transported to a downtown hospital. Then a doctor saw him, lectured him about how there’s no cure for covid and that you should come to the hospital if you need to be on a ventilator. They sent him home with no chest X-rays, no real check up. He is immuno compromised and they didn’t bother to properly check him out. We are shocked and concerned about the lack of effort put forward by the doctor here. If I can give negative score I would.

Kin Bhagwandin

Horrible! I have taken 3 urine test to just have it left on the ground and the nurses have no respect or kindness. They do not find your problem and it is a totally waste of time.

Renee Coleman

Rouge-Valley Ajax/Pickering is by far the WORST hospital I've ever been to and I'm saying this after a few visits. My first negative experience was when I delivered my first child. I found the nurses to be very rude and callous. They literally don't care and seems to me they're only interested in logging hours and collecting they're pay. I felt uncomfortable and out of place and couldn't wait to be discharged, because of this I chose to have my 2nd child at Scarborough Grace. I was very pleased with the services rendered by Scarborough Grace! I then decided to give rouge valley another chance because its so close to where I live and I was thinking maybe this time around things wont be so bad however I regret it. I decided to have my 3rd child at rouge valley and the experience once again was unpleasant. My son faced complications at birth due to fluid in his lungs and was placed on a breathing machine for the first few days and they tried to basically treat me like it wasn't my child. I was not even allowed to touch him. After a few days I had to get upset and DEMAND that I hold and bond with my baby. He was doing a lot better and I had seen so many families able to bond with their little one I don"t see why I wasn't able to. After putting up a fight they allowed me to. Now here's this icing on the cake for me. Instead of billing OHIP they charged me $5000 for the nurses and doctors that were taking care of him. I told them I have 3 Canadian born children why do I have to pay for my son seeing the doctor. They advised me that they were told by OHIP he wasnt covered and because its been longer than 6 months there's nothing they can do to help me ,I would have to pay out of pocket. I then called OHIP who told me my son has been covered since the first day he was born and I shouldn't pay a dime because a stale dated claim can still be submitted. They told me to have the hospital apply for approval to submit the claim and I shouldn't have any trouble. If they do give me a hard time to call back and they'll me get in contact with the minister of something but hopefully it doesn't have to be escalated. Now I'm still waiting to hear back from Vivianna in the finance department I've left a few msgs its been a couple days but no call back, how unprofessional. I could go on and on about my different experiences but I'm not going to overall I give them a ZERO!

My father was admitted to the CCU as he suffered a heart attack in the morning of May 26th. I just got back from visiting and I got to meet with nurse Amy, who was an absolute delight. She was professional, yet had a sense of humour to help lighten the mood. My father had nothing but good things to say when I asked him. Kudos to Amy, and the rest of the team in the CCU!

Sobika Loganathan

I had my daughter there . Nurses and doctors are super friendly!!!!

Janice McG

The ER wait time is typical...was here over 7hrs but it to be expected. The nurses were fantastic and the X-Ray technician Ron was Amazing!! He was fantastic with my daughter during her x-ray and explained every step of what he was doing with myself. Ron also helped navigate us from other departments as we were misguided by reception. He gave total care to ensure my daughter was comfortable and kept her laughing during a tough visit. Ron was the only technician on and managed to handle other patients and maintained a friendly connection. For people nervous about hospitals, X-Ray technician Ron made our 7+hrs pleasant. His 31yrs experience is definitely a plus on how he is great with patient care. Amazing!!!

Masuda Dewan

Very badly treated. I have taken my husband 5 times between October to November 2017 in emergency they did not admit him . He was almost dead. I was taking him almost every week. They don’t take care of him nor they told me what’s wrong with him. Then 6 time we took him to sunnybrock.he was admitted there and stayed there for 27 days.

Leana Kostoulakis

Dr. Iracleous was wonderful to deal with he was kind, down to earth and took the time to explain my injury to me. I know sometimes it can be a thankless job but your reputation has definitely made an impact on a lot of people I know. Keep up the good work. It is definitely not going un noticed. Thank you and stay safe!

Last week my 72yr old mom was brought to Centenary by ambulance for what we now know was sever Hyponatremia. My brother followed in his car and was relieved to see that the parking lot & ER was deserted; he was not allowed to enter due to covid protocol. My mom was wheeled into what we now believe is a utility closet near the nurses station and left for hours. It was a teeny room filled with wheelchairs & miscellaneous supplies, no bed or even a surface to rest her belongings. During that time she vomited and her condition worsened. She called out for help, a nurse opened the door surveyed the mess on the floor and told her to “be quiet!”. At some point she was handed a gown as her clothes were soiled, however the vomit on the floor remained. I was on the phone with her as she found the strength to drag herself to the door, her gown hanging & trailing through the mess on the floor, and call for help. The staff noticed and simply ignored her as she faded in & out of coherence (a symptom of her condition). I hung up with my mom and called the ER desk. An annoyed nurse picked up, acknowledged who my mother was, then claimed they were busy and asked me to “calm her down because she was making too much noise”. She also lied and claimed that my mom was already seen by 3 nurses and a doctor. At that point I decided to transport my mom to Toronto General, a far more decent, humain and efficient facility. I asked the nurse to please arrange for someone to help my mom get to the exit where my brother was waiting. The nurse warned that my mom may have to wait to be seen downtown, and that she would need to sign a waiver to leave against their advice. So the choice was, dying in a utility room in a puddle of vomit or going to a real hospital with a caring, trained staff????...CHECK PLEASE?!!! Moments after I made that request my brother notice a doctor and 2 nurses enter the utility closet to tend to my now barely conscience mom. I do not know how Scarborough hospitals have gotten away with this madness for decades. That healthcare system needs a complete overhaul!! If you are elderly & black do not expect to be treated with a modicum of respect, dignity or care at this hellscape. For anyone else I wouldn't chance it.

I had my father there two times. They were not very organized for sure. One guy was waiting to be discharged from the emergency room, but nobody took care of the procedure, while a lot of patients were waiting in the hall... Kind of dirty. Smelled bad. Not very caring. Nobody even looked at my father when the blood pressure monitor was beeping all the times because his blood pressure went under 26, sometimes too low to show! I saw many elderly people yelling for help, nobody looked at them for very long time (couple of hours or more, in one old lady's case). Not everybody was bad though, there were a couple of nice nurses there, thank God. Doctors are kind of ok, although we seldom saw them.

Honestly this is not the ER to go to regardless of how severe your situation is. I have a few experiences here, none of them being positive but I never bothered writing a review till now. Let me start off by stating the obvious, the medical field isn’t meant for the ill mannered, miserable, incompetent and most importantly those who lack compassion. You don’t get to slack off because it’s peoples lives on the line. With the wonderful wait times we have in hospitals here I’ve taken it upon myself to observe the intake staff and every time someone came in it was as if they were offended they had to do work. At this hospital I’ve had a doctor laugh at me for asking a question, as if I was supposed to have as much knowledge as he did.

Macy Y

Was here for a day surgery today and wow! The hospital is so high-tech. Self check-in kiosks and they provide you those buzzers that vibrate and beep when the nurses are ready for you. All the nurses I encountered today are super nice, gentle, and caring.

I am very displeased at this hospital! Every single time I go here, the staff are VERY RUDE!!!!!!!!!!. The doctor I got was Shabab, and despite me crying out for excruciating pain for my jaw for a tooth or something, he just gave me a pain killer and discharged me. It's an abscess or something. Anyway what I'm saying is that he brushed me off within 2 minutes of seeing me, even though I was waiting for 5 hours !!!!!! I was told it would last me at least till I get up in the morning around 9am. Its 430 am , and I'm in fking horrible pain and cannot stop crying. This is the worst place for anyone to go for help. Oh and they left the IV in me so long I ended up throwing up all over at the hospital and when I got home as well when I took a shower. This is horrible!

Always 7 to 8 hours waiting period. Last month I visited due to chest pain after x-ray I was waiting 3 hours and when I asked to the nurse and told me let me see it now which took 3 hours. After 3 hours nurse asked me why I am still waiting and I replied to the nurse that I was told by someone that I am good to go but nurse told to wait. I waited another hour for that reply. It's ridiculous. It seems to me lack of communication between their department. Another is Covid test. Bureaucracy system. For 10 people line up for Covid test take minimum 2 hours. They are very slow. Today. I went there with fever and I saw a big line up and calculated for 40 people ahead of me. As per my calculation it will take 7 to 8 hours. Why I will wait 8 hours with my fever to do test doesn't make sense. Due to the fever, back pain and body pain I can't stand long hours. Finally, I left the Covid centre without test. I believe my comments will help people to take decision if they want to visit there or not.

Never imagined health care would be in such a poor situation. Wife had an operation last week and the doctors wont even care to do a follow up on the patient to see if the healing is proper.. called the doctor to request for an appointment as the cut seemed to start developing infection and the doctor could not give a time before the next week (probably waiting to see if the infection would actually kill or not). I came to the emergency room to get my wife checked and we were waiting for 3 hours without any response whatsoever from the staff/nurses. Nobody even came to have a look or ask what the issue was. When I asked the reason the nurse said there was only one doctor for 5 different areas and she was waiting for him to return. I think the policy here should be time heals everything.. they give u a lot of time to self heal especially if u need emergency care..

Awful awful hospital with incredibly slow staff. I'm an extremely patient person but can't believe how unprofessional the nurses at this emerg are. Second time here in 2 months for different people and they don't care about anyone. Edit: Came back the next day and it was aa totall different experience. It seems the late crew gets screwed by understaffing pretty badly and after reflecting a bit, I can see that funding is a major issue. Doctors on site are great. One nurse was friendly. A lot of the overnight nurses were still pretty rude though.

Prisha Dharmani

I chose this hospital on recommendation from my midwife and I would say it was one of the best decisions. I was admitted in my early labour and ended up having emergency c section. I am highly impressed by the immediate attention and care I received. I would like to thank all nurses and doctors on duty who were so nice and attentive during my care on 17th May night ,I wish I knew their names. Special thanks to Dr Oyewumi for safely bringing my baby into this world

Jinurani Shobin

The nursing staff are rude and doesn't have any compassion to the patients.

Vinothan Subramaniam

This hospital is probably the worst place to go to. The emergency staff is horrible. Why would you have rude staff members and nurses working in a emergency unit.

Duri Naimji

On Monday,23 July,2013 around 9.00pm,I asked what are visiting hours, the staff at 8 Floor, on the phone first said it was confidential. I asked if she was making her own rules. Then she said visits are in evenings. I asked to speak with her night supervisor. She said there was none. I said there has to be one. When She showed up, I told her that the phone helper was unhelpful about giving visiting hours. SHE said she heard her say "evening" . I said that was not helpful. I needed hours. At last some one said 300-900pm. I asked for their names,. One was Linda. The other was hard to follow. Her tone and manner was arrogant, (as if I woke her up from a nap.).. Later a doctor whose name seems elusive, something like Isenberg, prescribed 10 mg olanzapine to a 14 year child, without informed and voluntary consent from any one capable and related, contrary to Code of Ethics and Law...The child did not eat, drink or bathe for 4 days. Some staff had skills and success in loading her with 'brain harming' pills, but not in helping her to eat and bathe. She seemed to be treated as a convict . Food left on the table on a tray as if given to a dog. 'Quality care', the priority, was patently absent. Some Staff members apparently uncaring. Certain forms seem hastily completed; and unjustifiably deprived the child of her freedom. As many diagnoses as doctors.not to mention treatments. A form was completed in almost illegible handwriting. The doctor's name, not signature, was illegible. When on Sat 26 July,a day staff was asked to give accurate and full name of the doctor, the person there refused.( That would not prevent a follow up in court or CPSO.) The patient became worse each day she was there,.thanks to some of the likely 'harmful pills'.. And they were apparently blaming the child. I tried to check the medical qualification of attending doctors. But they are not found in the registry at CPSO.One wonders if the Ministry of Health is allowing unfit staff to treat unwell children, not to mention locking them up and virtually having them starve.. A service that is meant, and paid, to help, but results in harming, a patient, is no good. A one star for the better members of staff. The rest unclassified.

My cousin just spent over 27 hours on a stretcher in the emergency ward because apparently no one could manage to get a bed made up for him on the 9th floor. The family had been promised a bed was being prepared for him at 1 PM but by almost 7 PM they were still being told a bed was being prepared. There appears to be very poor communication between the bed allocations manager and the charge nurse in emergency. No one advocates for the patient it seems. This hospital emergency department needs a serious intervention by Ministry health teams.

Sandy Edwards

I have had 2 total hip replacements here. Both times I have had a very good experience. From the bookings and testing to the surgeries. Scarborough Centenary runs like a well oiled clock. The staff on the surgical floor are so kind, almost like family. My only issue was like all hospitals....the food.

hailey lewis

Got hit by a car yesterday and was sent to centenary emerg. By far the worst experience of my life, not only was I traumatized from just being hit by a car, but I was treated poorly by the doctor. He left me on the board from the ambulance that I was strapped down to for far too long that even the nurses were angry I was still in it. My mom had told the doctor I needed to use the washroom multiple times and he completely ignored her and kept his back to her. Not even telling one of the nurses to come help me, after nearly an hour one of the nurses brought me a bed pan to pee in. That was when the nurses realized I was still strapped and on the board and called for the doctor to have me taken off, it's not like they were swarmed with people in emerg, I was already seen by the doctor and that's when I was supposed to be taken off. If I could give less than one star, I definitely would! Made the day 10x worse than it already was.

Koushi Gowri

My mom visited the Emerg last night. They called out her name but some other family jumped in the queue and started filling out their issues under my mom's name. When my dad went up to say they called them, the staff were rude and brushed him off. Later when the 2nd stadge nurse called my mom basedbon the filled info, my dad explained that they were never called. The intake person refused that she ever called the name when clearly her intake form was under my mom's name. Then they tried to cover up this mix up. This also happened to my dad when he recently had a surgery there. The anesthetic told him that he has a kidney failure based on another patient's report and started doing surgery prep form based on that. My parents were very stressed and worried when they left the hospital hearing that (had a mental health attack because of it-my dad is a heart patient). They later got a call from this lady saying she apologises for misinforming him... that she read another patient's info by accident. Terrible hospital system and staff. Very scary.

WORST PATIENT SERVICE FOR EMERGENCY Came here for my dad at Emergency at 10pm and got checked into a room at 10:30pm. This rude nurse doesn’t greet us and and gives us an attitude look. She keeps saying she’s a been a nurse for 20 years. She treats every patient differently and gives such rude behavior. A different patient also complained that she was quite racist. She absolutely has no experience on how to put a needle in properly leaving my dad’s hand bleeding and getting on the bedsheet as well. She thinks she knows a lot but she DOESN'T KNOW what a GOOD PATIENT SERVICE IS. Disgusting behavior from that nurse. Kept complaining she was tired. Please don’t come here. EMERGENCY department should be max 5 hours to stay there not 24 hours and Letting patients suffer!!

Celia Z

If you are testing for covid, please dress according to the weather. Be prepared to wait 4+ hours outside, standing, rain or shine. That's even when you make appointments.

Love boo

Don't go here if you have a head injury. Seems like the doctors and nurses here do not prioritize people by their injury. I had a huge fall, smashed my head on concrete and was in a great amount of pain and yet I wasn't seen be a doctor for 5 hours. When I finally saw a doctor, he didn't even do a full exam or listen to what had happened. He just sent me for xrays on my neck, and didn't even try to address my head injury. I will never go here again, and honestly I suggest everyone should avoid this place at all costs. Don't waste your time. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Maria Claudette Cruz

I'm happy to say that I had positive care experiences in Centenary Hospital. Great maternity ward -- big delivery and private rooms in an exclusive northwest wing of the hospital. Gave birth twice here. Had emergency C-section x1 and was discharged home with healthy baby. In and out of this hospital in the past year since diagnosis of cancer. I am amazed by the collaboration of care between departments, from lab testing, imaging (CT scan, MRI) to surgery. Dr. Kawun has been great with my surgery and continues to follow-up. Nurse Tamara is also unforgettable with PICC line insertion. Great oncology team, from front desk to chemo clinic. They direct patients to where they needed to be and how to get there (bloodworks), and what to do and how to do it (check ins). Reception even go around the counter to put the ID bracelet on your wrist for you -- small gestures that goes a long way! Nurse Anne Marie, Nurse Sabeen, Nurse Jennifer to name a few of the oncology nurses that made my day -- Dr Chiarotto is also attentive. I'm thankful to all health care professionals that has been part of my care in Centenary, especially during unprecedented times/pandemic. I would give 5 stars but there is always room for improvement, like maybe a food court.

Renee Reid

Love, Love,Love.. The stuff is amazing from the momentI came here. I had a schedule C section, but my plan change when I notice leakage. I walked into the birth centre and I was immediately taking care of. Debbie, Patrice, and the others where great. The two Gyno/Ob where very supportive. Thank You to everyone who works at Birthing Centre.

Lisette Nolan

The staff are unprofessional, when I say staff, I mean the Nurses! They are rude, gossip about patients and have a bad attitude in general. The clerks are rude as well. Hospitals should start implementing professional training on how to interact respectfully with patients. I won't be going back there.

Teresa Gomes

Omg. Came here with my mom at the emergency. The doctor was so rude and mean. Plus nurses don’t care. All I see them being busy in the phone. My mom was there from 12pm, Only one time doctor saw her then didn’t get to drink any water until 6 pm. She is diabetic and can’t stay in empty stomach. Nurse was tell me it’s good that she is starving, then she will eat dinner. ????? Service sucks. No one is friendly and as soon as they see someone coming to ask question, they put down the phone and pretend to get busy. And it just didn’t happened to me. There were other people too. This is Canada’s free health care feels like. I rather pay less taxes and and pay for health care as long as someone cares.

Antonio Pablo

I drove my brother to the hospital for his 11:30 a.m. appointment with Internal medicine Dr. We arrived at around 11:20 a.m. and was told to sit and wait . We waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes before the Dr. saw my brother and ONLY to be told that the results of the culture have not been received.

Jomo McCormack

Patient from 8East Ward - 808 Have been admitted for 4 days and experienced nothing but the best treatment from ward nurses Serena, Athina and Danielle. They were incredibly patient, thoughtful and caring through my pain management. Thank you for being amazing examples of why our Canadian Health Care System is world class. With these three on your ward nothing to worry about. God bless you!

Reaz Faisal

Staff & doctors does not do the job unless pushed and constantly brothered. Doctor came to check my father and told me he will check something and never came back. He was scheduled for a head CT on a empty stomach which we were never informed. Nurse comes at 1:30pm and brings me a paper/ consent form advising me that it was my fault that I gave my dad food & his head CT scan was prospond for tomorrow. These people do not care about health care, if you do not care about health care you should not work in this field. I have seen few staff members that cares and does the job right, the rest please do find something else to do as it's unsafe to put our love once in your hands.

While in and out of consciousness, fainting on the floor twice because my stomach hurt so badly and wasn't giving anything for the pain or for my blood sugar being so low, I heard a nurse screaming at another patient who wasn't familiar with the hospital and was getting discharged asking how to get home and where the bus stops are, when another nurse FINALLY stepped in and asked what area he lived in and he said downtown they said that they couldn't help him, after many hours of extreme pain, I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS FINE AND TO TALK TO MY FAMILY DOCTOR, so I asked how I should get home since I kept fainting and was dizzy their response was to bus and I said that I wasn't comfortable with that because I KEPT FAINTING, they didn't want me there so they gave me a sandwich and told me to leave, other hospitals would call and pay for a taxi for me for a lot less symptoms, I ended up FAINTING again on my way home and a stranger drove me home because I really didn't want to go back to CENTENARY because I would be in this terrible hospital, worse experience ever

Lama Tha Truth

I have been here for over 3 hours and haven't moved from the emer and it wasn't full. My wife is in horrible pain and for over 3 hours you can't see a doctor or a nurse nothing. The nurse are a Joke this place used to be good I wish I would of went to Scarborough gen. I will not step foot in here ever again. Maybe if the ppl stopped playing on the phones and cracking jokes and do there job. I will be trying to find a way to get someone in trouble. I will be contact the MP. Do not go here place is a joke ppl who work here are the worst in the trade . JOKE

Toula Zissis

I am one of the few people that actually had a legitimate reason for coming to emerg. Both my family doctor and mom (also a doctor) tole.i must get to emerg. due to severe pain and severe swelling on my hand. Noticed the people that come here have a slight cough or acute pain. I had broken my scaphoid bone in half with severe swelling and red and purple in colour. They checked me in with in 2 min. Took a look at my hand within 10mins. Got me xrayed in half hour. Put my cast on with in the next hour. Spent less than 2.5hours here and I was very happy. Nurses were super nice to me and kept me updated. Had a smile on anytime.i asked for clarification. Dr Saeed in emergency was very thorough. I dealt with probably 10 different specialists and nurses including the xrayed team. Amazing hospital. Please do not tie up the emergency department with small issues. The only reason hospitals have such long waits in this province is because it's free, people think they have to come to emergency for any issue.

Michael Chen

The mask they provided doesn't fit. Fogging my glass and having a big hole on the side. Staff looks really professional. 5 stars customer service, 0 star masks

Andy Mondo

The doctor at the surgical clinics named Dr. Bendago is very unprofessional. I had an appointment on June 28 at 10:30am. I have been waiting 30 minutes and it is very unprofessional for a doctor to be late for an appointment that you booked with them. The worse part is that not one person has even acknowledged my presence where the orange dots finish. I’ve been sitting here with not one person having come attend to me or my appointment. I don’t understand how the employees that work at centenary are so unprofesional as well as the doctors at centenary hospital are. They absolutely do not care and you will be well aware of this fact within minutes of stepping into this hospital. Avoid centenary hospital at all times.

Sam Milling

After c section was ignored and left on my own calls for help was ignored. Disgusting hospital. Went to this hospital yesterday and was diverted to a little hub with a doctor who looked about 97 years old. He refused to provide medical service just looked at me and said that I have the hives. I asked about the burning in my throat and hair loss maybe it's something I ingested he said he can't test for that go see your own family doctor.

Alan P

I was in for a cardio ablation procedure and from the moment I got there, until I left, the staff were wonderful - right from the orderlies to the nursing staff. Affable and attentive. I have only good things to say about my stay there.

R Famous

My husband had a complex heart arrhythmia ,he did a heart ablation with Dr.Bhavi Makanjee at the Centenary Hospital ,the doctor and the whole team in the Cath lab did a great job during his procedure . They are professional ,polite , thoughtful and kind , I highly recommend them .

Jason Leblanc

Sent home after an X-ray with pain meds and no instructions aside from it’s not broken to be told by my family physician that my shoulder is indeed broken, where is the professionalism?

Ayrin Jahan

I went yesterday for severe back pain by ambulance. The old male doctor just gave me a pain killer and said you can't be here for pain. He didn't do any x ray or MRi. Sent me back. Why they are for-treating people or why people go there? Now I am lying on bed with severe pain. Hospital should take action. Nurses are so polite and helpful minded. But that doctor seems to me a racist for his attitude.

Z Al-Waili

This hospital is absolutely disgraceful. I cant even believe that any medical professionals act, behave and make decisions in the manner that is experienced. My baby has a condition that is closely monitored by SickKids. We have been provided with an emergency care letter with special detailed instructions to show to medical personnel in any ER so that they can deal with the condition appropriately. The instructions clearly state the type of IV fluids and maintenance levels she requires to keep her glucose levels maintained to avoid a metabolic crisis. After making us wait 3 hours, which in itself is horrifically late with her condition, the nurse starting prepping her for an IV with HALF of her required intake. After myself and a doctor at SickKids spoke with the nurse and explained that it wont be sufficient, her response was (along the lines of): * the pharmacy doesnt have it. *the pharmacy wont have it for another 4+hrs *the pharmacy and hospital dont collaborate or communicate with other hospitals for emergency situations like this. *I'm free to refuse the care *this is the best im going to get with universal health care. I'm shocked that a hospital with an NICU doesnt have the necessary IV ingrediants (D10 vs D05) to care for a baby in need. I have never hated an institution as much as I do with this terrible place. The only reason I came was because i was told they had a NICU and that I shouldn't waste time driving to downtown when any ER can care for her. I ended up driving to SickKids, where they had to admit my baby for 4 days. I am going to do everything in my power to make sure no one experiences what I want through with this hospital. If you value your health and the health of your loved ones PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

A B

Avoid this hospital. Go somewhere else if you need emergency. The staff are incredibly rude and lack empathy. The wait times are also insanely long. It’s quite obvious that they don’t care to improve based on all the negative reviews.

Amena Munir

Rude staff (nurses) took my father to the emergency room via ambulance as he had excruciating back pain. I had to leave for a couple hours to attend to my son. My dad begged the nurses to come help him adjust his pillow but no one would do it. He approached 3 different nurses but not one helped him. In return brushed him off insulting hi. Extremely unprofessional. Would get my dogs treated there.

connor walsh

90% of triage/er nurses are miserable and make you feel out of place. Do not go here with any mental health concerns, and ESPECIALLY NOT A MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCY. “We’re so busy sorry we can’t give you any idea of when you’ll be seen.” Literally no one in the wait room, that nurse was drinking coffee and eating biscuits while gossiping to another miserable nurse. I go to Brock university and know what real caring mental health support is. Unfortunately, I presented with a physical emergency relating to a mental health emergency, and I came out feeling degraded and uncared for. They do not hesitate to put someone in a waiting room and exposed nook in the wall for 4 hours while you’re having a 10/10 mental health crisis, meanwhile there’s other patients swearing, nurses giving attitude, people grunting, moaning, repetitive beeping every 0.3 second. After 4 hours a miserable crisis worker came in and clearly did not understand the crisis part while I was expressing my concern over the entire er department and how every single nurse was degrading and stigmatizing mental health and how I’m feeling even worse than when I walked in. She walked away and said in a NASTY voice “ok well I don’t care go find someone when you wanna talk.” She left me. I go to another little nurse station, express my concern, she was condescending and rude as well. While that was happening, a possibly mixed male nurse came and took care of me and put a sliding wall up for me, gave me food, listened to me thoroughly and apologized on behalf of the entire department. He should be running the place. I felt welcomed until he had to leave and obviously before hand I was in overdrive but he noticed, checked why I was there, and responded appropriately. The doctor was professional, although he was a level less than thorough, and then a second crisis worker came in after cause he suggested it even though I said I just want the physical harm taken care of because I don’t feel welcomed or supported or cared by anyone but one nurse who didn’t even have to look after me but he did it out of kindness. But anyways, the physician highly suggested I do talk to the next crisis worker despite me being in a calm state at that point, so I did, and he would not stop looking at the physical harm on me and awkwardly looking up and down at it while trying to ask me questions to get me out of there. He was cold. Every single crisis worker is COLD. I cannot believe this. It has prompted me to want to join movements to demand better healthcare throughout Ontario. We’ll see what I can do, and I want to make a positive impact.

My Husband was admitted to the hospital and has been in the emergency for the past 3 days waiting for a room to become available. The nurses in emergency do not care about the patients in this hospital .....my husband ask for pain meds at around 5am ....4 hrs later still no pain meds... what is becoming of our health care system ......I liked this hospital however over the past years it's gone down hill...wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone

Cay K

Our health care system needs work in general, but that's no fault of the staff. The nurses here are amazing and do SO much with the limited resources they have. They are angels.

Steve Kantor

I had an ablation procedure to stop AFib in early September. Dr. Makanjee and the nurses were great! I am now free of Afib and able to live a normal life. The only negative part of the experience was waiting 8 hours for a bed once the procedure was completed.

Trish Dun

The staff in the emergency department were nice to me and very patient with my baby. However, this old male doctor wasn’t very patient with my one year old baby. When he used a tongue depressor on my baby, my baby puked because the doctor poked his throat. My baby had a high fever (40°C) so he obviously was feeling very uncomfortable and not himself. The doctor didn’t handle it professionally and walked out on us. He also just left his dirty gloves and tongue depressor on the hospital bed which was very UNSANITARY. Mind you there was a HUGE garbage bin in the room which he could’ve easily dumped his dirty gloves and that tongue depressor he used on my baby. Very unprofessional.

Joy Lamarche

I had an appointment at the hospital today and found it necessary to use one of the washrooms. There were no paper towels, the hand dryer was broken and there was toilet paper strewn all across the floor of the stalls. Considering this is a hospital I would expect cleanliness to be a priority.

Allie Wonders

Really rude people. In the midst of a family emergency, a loved one suddenly being moved within the hospital and us trying to find him, we were given the wrong extension number and the lady who picked up was so rude!!!!!!!! She hung up on me after me trying to explain this is the only extension i was given. No cares at all. Then trying to call the general number is the same thing, the women who answer these phones are so rude and unprofessional. You would think they have kind and compassionate people on the other line but NOPE!!!! Avoid

David Morrisson

Wife I here, insulin dependent triple bypass survivor heart function 50% working - diabetes wound on bottom foot sitting in hallway since 210pm. No sense of urgency for people who have concerning health issues. Waiting to have septic pic line looked at.

MC Aquino

Worst ER. Longest wait I've ever been. You think it's almost your turn when you get called to have someone see you but no - it takes another hour! And you observe they're just chatting. Where the heck are your doctors !

Kyle Parrill

The staff is horribly rude. Wait time is stupid. We knew exactly what we needed and they wouldn't give it to us. And it wasn't some crazy drug to get u high. The paramedics that aren't designated to this hospital were the only nice people during this experience.

Harry S

I took my mom to Emergency last night at 8 PM ( June 21,2021 ) and still waiting in the hospital at 7 AM on June 22,2021 ????What a waste of time and the Doctors and Nurses just walking around and joking but they don’t care about any patients at all. Every year we donate money to SHN on my kids birthday and my birthday not anymore. We won’t donate any single penny in the future at all. Even the Doctors are very very rude . I never see any Doctors so rude in my life . This is the first time I saw very rude Doctors, Nurses and staffs . All of them are extremely rude. Ontario government need to shut down this hospital and fire them all . All of them are such an idiots not even being a human. ????????????????

KS Brother

Thanks for the cutting health care funding by Government of Ontario which lead everyone for more wait time with pain in emergency start from minimum 9 hours to max 14 hours. On the top extra tax payer dealing with staff and offcourse hospital administrator the way they running this profitable business. This hospital was a good hospital way back before merging with Scarborough General now it's all about profit on first priority not patient.

Ryan Virgo

9am to 2pm and still going. 1 blood test, staff (old white dude) literally hit me because I wasnt paying attention after I waited 2 hours for him to show up. I'm here for a headache but I got an even bigger one waiting here. If I was in danger of death, I'd die in the waiting room. I genuinely hate this place

On Sunday May 31st, upon the advice of telehealth nurse, I took my 7 daughter into ER around 10 pm. I was relieved to see the Triage nurse actively sanitizing the seats and medical equipment after screening each patient. However when my daughter was sent to the back to see the ER doctor was when the horror began. The nurse asked her to seat in a chair. I noticed the chair had blood all over the arm rest. So we were asked to go to the room. The bed was all messed up with dirty sheets. My daughter sat in my lap. When the ER doctor came, he noticed the condition of the bed and fixed it with clean sheets himself. The nurses in that area were not that busy. May time I saw them sitting around and playing on their phones. I realize that the are over worked but during time of a pandemic shouldn't there be extra staff to ensure basic cleanliness.

Erina El-Habboub

Traumatic is the best way to describe my Centenary ER visit. I promise I am not being dramatic. Read below. I entered the ER at 6PM with heavy bleeding from a miscarriage complication. I was bleeding through full sized adult diapers in about 10-15 minutes to a point where my socks and shoes were drenched in blood. I was told by the triage nurse to sit down and wait even though my pants were drenched in blood while she continued to "train" her colleague in something that could have waited. Over the next five hours, I was treated in a similar careless manner. I continued to bleed all over their floors and was told to change my own diaper even though every time I stood up my blood pressure plummeted. I fainted twice. Other than having me hooked up to an IV, I was not provided any care or checks from the nurses in that section. The only way I could get their attention was to drag myself down the hall to their station. My situation did not warrant any urgency from the ER doctor who came to see me twice during the whole visit, once proclaiming that there are patients sicker than me when I pleaded for him to stop the bleeding. At one point, the ER doctor finally decided to try and stop some of the bleeding by removing clots from my uterus. The maneuver was extremely painful and did not result in any decrease in bleeding. He continued to leave me there for another hour with the blood clots sitting in a pan next to my head. They finally moved me to another area of the ER around midnight where they said that a OBGYN was paged and she would be taking care of me. The two nurses in this area who took care of me were amazing and actually human. I wish I could remember their names to give credit where it's due. When the OBGYN entered the room, my blood pressure luckily plummeted again and I say luckily because this created a sense of urgency. The OBGYN performed a different manuever to remove a ton of clots that immediately stopped the bleeding and contractions. I felt immediate relief. However if my blood pressure hadn't dropped in front of her I doubt she would have tried to help me on the spot. It is clear that the OBGYN knew was she was doing and should have been paged as soon as I got into the ER. I was kept overnight to stabilize my blood pressure, fill me with fluids to replace the blood I lost and for an iron infusion. They refused to provide a blood transfusion. In summary, if the staff had any interest in my well being or the knowledge to understand what I needed they could have prevented the blood loss I experienced which resulted in an overnight stay, two iron infusions and 5 days stuck in bed unable to take care of my children. They also discharged me without a D&C which I ended up needing and having at another hospital one week later. In the six hours that I was essentially left to bleed out, my hemoglobin levels went from a healthy 122 to 72. This was avoidable. I have had two home birth with lots of blood loss but have never needed so much time to recover like I did with this miscarriage and I attribute this unfortunate reality to the abysmal lack of care and humanity I experienced at centenary. In hindsight, I know I most likely was not going to die of my ailment but at the time, bleeding the way I was, fear and panic were all I could feel. I was unlucky that this happened during COVID, as I couldn't have husband there to advocate. Staff did nothing to alleviate the anxiety. I felt completely unsafe in the place where you should feel the safest. I thought I was going to die, not because of my miscarriage and the bleeding, but because these people who took an oath to care acted as if I was nothing and did not need their help. I was terrified of them. I will never forget this experience and I want to say I hope noone has to go through something like this but it's inevitable if we have jaded people like this within our medical system. Please, if you have a choice, do not go here. I went to North York for the remainder of my care, including another ER visit, and it was a much more humane experience.

Never get surgery here. I had 2 on both shoulders by a great surgeon but the nurses are the worst I've seen in my life. They don't care about your well being and you could DIE. I almost died both times due to the laziness of the nurses. First time I had my shoulder done and was in the room where you wake up right after surgery from anesthetic and they took my oxygen away too fast. I remember I couldn't speak yet and I was grasping for air until I went into cardiac arrest. The alarms started ringing and I heard them scrambling to save me. The second time, after surgery the nurse told me I could leave. NO Wheelchair, nothing. I just came out of anesthetic. I fell on the floor and no one came to help me. My parents saw me and ran to pick me up and carry me to the car. Luckily I didn't injure the arm I just had surgery on. Absolutely no instructions from the nurses, they all just sat by their computer twiddling their thumbs. If I wanted to, I could sue this hospital for malpractice and endagerment of my life (Twice). Get diagnosed here but NEVER EVER GET SURGERY HERE. It's worth waiting an extra 5 months and getting surgery at a reputable hospital and not risking your life in people that don't care about you and actually treat you like an object instead of a human being. For my hip surgery I went to Europe, sure I had to pay money but at least the nurses acted the way they should and made my recovery and hospital stay great. When you come out of surgery you and your family are already in stress so you don't need god awful nurses that might kill you.

The emergency department takes the typical 4 hour wait however they seem to avoid much hallway medicine by putting those with minor fractures, quick IVs such as antibiotics in big comfy chairs, while the more serious cases are moved to the observation room where they receive more intense nursing care.

My baby was only 2 days old and my wife still couldn’t come out of the pain. My baby was crying like insane for 3 hours and I found blood on the diaper. So I rushed to the hospital. The security boy was very kind to let me in faster. But right after I registered, I had to wait for over 2 hours considering my wife’s pain was going intolerable and my baby was getting red crying. They put us in a waiting room and nobody bothered to come ask about my baby’s status. I was so panicked that I ran into the department directly and begged one RN to send a doctor immediately just see whether anything is really serious. The RN was simply standing and smiling with his colleague. I urged him as my baby is only 2 days old but even he didn’t bother to come and check what’s going on with my baby. I waited for another 1 hour as he mentioned that he was going to send a doctor immediately. Nobody appeared. My wife and I didn’t even had dinner, my baby’s feeding time was going over but unfortunately I didn’t get any service. I had to leave as I had to feed my baby and my wife was also losing it. I left without any service. I don’t know whether anyone from the management would see this experience or not, if any of them does, please do something so that an unfortunate person like me doesn’t have to go through the same experience again. Thanks to SHN for providing us with this kind of service.

I’ve incurred permanent and irreparable damage to my health as a direct result of the “care” I received here! I was interrogated and berated about my ongoing medical issues by extremely rude and burnt out “medical professionals” and “nurses.” I use those terms in the lightest sense possible, as the “people” working here are not people at all but imposters, paid to shamble around, gossip about patients, snoop through confidential medical records, deny basic human rights, and misdiagnose patients. Satan has a special spot for everyone who enters the medical field just for a paycheck. Hawkthoo!

I weared gloves for my both hand and entered inside hospital during covid 19 first wave, the reception asked to remove my gloves that was also satisfactory to me so I removed my gloves and pleased to ask if I can wear new gloves from this point. she said hospital policy is not allow to wear gloves. I didn't oppose to her refusal and proceeded to , but I am not happy with their policies. I am reporting here so if freedom of opinions and expression and my view points may even change those ruling by any other official. my self protection request denied is not reasonable by that employee or by the hospital...keep in mind...doctors and nurse use gloves. You can wear shoes and sleep on bed with shoes..they don't change it for every other patients. They only check when you enter in...after there are no blocks for checking...people they don't use liquid to wash frequently and no one monitor after they entered inside hospital...they just ask random questions and test your temperature....but keep in mind..many symptoms are unknown to those...no one tell truth to that desk about their covid symptoms and then lie and enter inside...so I needed protection..that is why I asked to wear gloves...it will protect me at lease..I used 5 mask together...our retailed shop masks are not thick enough...to protect you...above is just my opinion. Not a medical or legal advise...this is what in my mind and expressing my viewpoints

I was at a cardiac care class on heart medications given by Joe Chin pharmacist at Centenary hospital. The class was at the Civic Centre in Oshawa. Joe was excellent very good information he explained everything so well. The class was from 6pm - 8pm it went in so fast I could have stayed longer. Thank you Joe I will recommend your class to everyone I know.

Horrible communication between doctors and nurse staff doesn't look properly trained and putting there own responsibility on other hospital never going there again

Ingrid Lainscek

Worse hospital ever. Nurses are rude doctors over ride orders. They don't care about there patients. Please go to a different hospital if you have a chance

I was not sure where to post this but i wanted to comment on the birthing center. I had my second son here and it was a not a very good experience. The nurses were rude and annoyed that a patient had come in. They were very insensitive and very unhelpful. They didn't help me with the baby. My doctor was terrible i told him im feeling pain despite having epidural. He ignored me and tried stitching me without any freezing and didnt stop until I screamed. The nurses were terrible. I left after 1 night i could not stand it. Ive been to emergency for minor injuries and issues and they have seen me and the service was good. But dont go here if you have mental health issues. They don't help you or provide any direction. They can't prescribe meds or provide any counselling. They make u come to see psyche in the day time only.

Dr. Bodega in the surgical unit is by the far the worst doctor I’ve come across in my entire life. Followed by Dr Elahi the doctor who Dr bodega refers his patients to because he is incapable of following up with them himself. Dr bodega and Dr elahi do not follow up with you as they say they will. Thanks to the incompetent Dr. Bodega I am left with permanent scarring. You should follow up with patient’s health matters as you promised. Your patients shouldn’t have to hunt you down. Appalled by the lack of care.

"The Best At What We Do"... What a joke!! Water fountains that don't work? Vending machines that don't work? And if they do, a bottle of water is 3 bucks! If you have to make a delivery there, you are supposed to park your truck around back and walk around to the front, in the pouring rain so you can get soaked while you check in with security. They lock the washroom on the loading dock so the driver has to piss in the woods... Also, there is no light on the dock so the driver has to make their delivery in the dark. This is how you treat the delivery drivers who bring you life saving supplies? Management should be ASHAMED!

I had no problems when i went to emergency department. Yes the was long, but most of the people didnt have to go to the emergency department. All the doctors I saw were very polite When I had to have day surgery, i found the experience great, from the doctor down to the ftont desk

Shut this hosiptal down. Do not go here. Do not take your children here. Doctors and nurses are disgusting. Best hosiptal - Please go here. Sick kids for Children (5 stars) Mount Sanai Hosiptal downtown. (5 stars)

Vaccine information: For all those people who are wondering which vaccine shot is being given at this hospital. It is “PFIZER”. No where on the website it is mentioned about the vaccine. I hope this helps many people. Note: Please make sure you have at-least 1 hour available to get vaccinated if you are coming after 5pm. Because it is at a prime location, It’s too busy.

I had my baby here it's really a great experience enjoyed the great care, support from the mid mother and lovely team of nurse and doctor. They made the process very smooth highly skilled.

Horrible emergency room. As a type one diabetic sent to the hospital by my family doctor who wasn't able to eat, high fever, had a severe migraine and was vomiting I shouldn't have had to wait in the waiting area with a screaming woman for 3 hours before I even being seen by a nurse. I had to get my fiance to take me to Scarborough Grace because I was deteriorating even more in the waiting room. When I asked for my health card back the nurse laughed and said good luck to us. I was taken in IMMEDIATELY at the other hospital and given in IV which I needed due to dehydration and my migraine. Also found out I had salmonella poisoning which is why I became so sick. The stress from waiting there also increased my heart rate which was very high when they checked at Scarborough Grace when they took me in. Went down after I was admitted there are they were shocked when I told them about what happened at centenary. Also 95% of people in the emergency room should not even be there! Go to your family doctor or a walk in clinic!

Grace R

horrible hospital, i waited over 4 hours to be seen in a wheelchair after a car accident. nurses and staff are rude and unprofessional. don’t go here if you’re sick, literally go anywhere else.

Dr. Pinto was my emergency doctor at Scarborough Health Network-Centenary tonight and the entire interaction shocked me. First of all I love Scarborough and think we have a great city, with great services and staff. The nurses at SHN-Centenary, despite being overworked were so warm and open. I had such a GREAT experience with all 4 women I encountered before I was met by Dr. Pinto. Dr. Pinto called my name and upon seeing me, a fellow brown woman but in my 30s, she couldn’t even look at me. She turned her head to the opposite side of the room and without looking at me said, “you can go in there”. I had to ask her: “are you speaking to me?”. I wasn't even sure which direction she meant. She was so cold and seemed to carry some pre-judgement. I came in on a Friday evening because i was told to confirm I didn't have a mild concussion. I did not want to go in but multiple people advised me to. The interaction was short: Dr. Pinto basically asked me why i came in and scoffed that I didn’t take Advil or Tylenol. I came to the hospital because i don't know the procedure when it comes to brain health. She was condescending, explaining that when I am in pain- I should take pain meds. This was my breaking point and I couldn’t even respond to her anymore. I walked away but then started crying over the horrible interaction. I went back to speak to her about it, and she listened which I appreciated. She apologized for how I took it but I told her, it wasn't about how I took it, it was about how she was communicating. I approach everyone with an open mind and friendliness. She was critical of me on first appearances. She softened up at the end but I was so stunned by the hostility. I rarely cry or even go to the Doctor, so this I didn’t expect. It doesn’t help that my head isn’t 100%. She has potential to be a good doctor but from other reviews on doctr.ca and my own experience, she lacks a positive mindset that would help patients in their healing journey.

THIS REVIEW IS LONG OVER DUE : I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU TOO The doctors and nurses that work in the birthing unit. What a wonderful set of humans. I had my son " Noah " on January the 20th via C-section which was not planned at all. No doubt i was extremely scared but my nurse Patrice was amazing she had such a motherly touch she is truly passionate about her job she was there with me every step of the way she made my stay amazing despite how my birth went she stuck by my side until everything was done. Patrice didnt make me feel like a patient she made me feel like i was her family the level of care she provided was UP and BEYOND. Kamisha my recovery nurse after my c section i was pushed into a recovery room and i met Kamisha she was so viberant and welcoming she made me laugh she helped me breastfeed she made sure she kept me occupied throughout my recovery she also stayed by myside until they wheeled me into my room and then made sure she came and checked up on me the next day. Thank you Kamisha you truly kept me calm i truly felt the love. Sickora (not sure i spelt that right ) My night nurse YOURE TRULY AMAZING me and Noah thank you. After i had my c section i found out my son had low blood sugar which meant he would have needed to go into the NICU but Sickora made sure she stuck by us and made sure i stayed awake to breastfeed and formula feed him until his bloodsugar went up. It was extremely hard but she kept me going. Her smiles and her jokes always kept me in high spirits. Dr.logaridis What a phenomenal human / man / doctor. This job was meant for you! You deliveried both of my children and me and my family will always be greatful! We love you one of the BEST doctors i have ever encountered! GOD BLESS YOU HANDS. The people at this place have no empathy, or sympathy of any sort, not all but the majority seem heartless down to the four EMS workers I saw that night. I went into the hospital around 3am on Friday May 17th 2019. I googled the hospital and the reviews were bad but it was the closest at the time. I checked in because my girlfriend's skin broke out and she was worried because is was itching and seemed to be spreading and we just landed from Cuba. There was something that caught my eye and disturbed me. There were two EMS employee's pushing a stretcher with a patient on it, talking about how many times they've watched the "Breaking Bad Series" while the patients loved one is tailing behind head down in worry. Anyways, I waited until 6:15 a.m. and nobody came to check on us. I became upset and in being upset I became agitated and through my agitation just frustrated. So I walked through the hall to find four nurses to my right laughing and giggling male and female. I went to the front desk and found a Caucasian lady and an Asian man having their lunch. When I confronted the two I simply asked "How much longer before somebody sees us?" The Asian man had the audacity to tell me "I haven't been waiting quite that long," with his disgusting attitude (I probably interrupted his lunch date with Ms. Lady) everything I wanted to say I didn't and kept quiet and said "I've been waiting quite long" then he replied "Well your waiting for the doctor," real snobby. So I left and waited until 6:30am walked again and the staff is having a blast so I figured they didn't care about us and left. "Told them thanks I'll figure it out." My point is this if it wasn't a big deal to them, they have so many nurses, just tell us what it is, big or small and get us out. But they did not care at all, and I find it unprofessional to be talking about "Breaking Bad" series while somebody is sick in a stretcher and a loved one is upset. Unprofessional and sad that this is Canada ????. We're spoiled in Canada and take things for granted.

not too bad. My wife had to remove some cysts ans was there for a few days. The nurses were all right and nice. They even brought out those reclining chairs for my mom-in-law to help her sleep during those days. Organized enough and went thru trouble free. No real complaints.

Rita Mikelsons

I broke my leg and damaged both knees. I was seen in the Rapid Response Room, x-rayed, fitted with a cast and crutches...all within 2.5 hours. On the flip side, I have been in the hallway in emerg for 16 hours with my 87 year old mother and then had to fight for them to keep her overnight, rather than letting an exhausted barely ambulatory patient go home at 2am. It is the luck of the draw. The one good thing is that you aren't presented with a bill of tens of thousands of dollars when you leave. BTW.....there was no wheelchair available for me when I had the broken leg and had walk to the various departments...but I did see quite a few people sleeping in wheelchairs when they could have been in regular chairs......maybe the hospital isn't always at fault.

Paul Ratte

I was at Centenary Hospital for an angiogram today. All the nurses and doctors were wonderful. In particular was one nurse who I believe was named Chris who took exceptional care of me. She was kind hearted and attentive. I could not have asked for a lovelier nurse. I do not understand why there are so many negative reviews. My experience at this hospital was excellent.

Chris Massey

I visited the audiology department today. The lady working the counter. Was completely rude and ignored me well standing there. But when her friend showed up was all tall to her. This is a great example of what's wrong with our Healthcare system. Apartently bedside manor is no longer a requirement.

stephen glendenning

My dad was at the hospital back 1985 and had the best time in it. He had a TIA and walk out the frist time but 2nd he came in a wheelchair but had a good life before he passway last year. The Doctor whete a lot help for are family to understand his problem live. Thank you to all the Doctor and staff. From the Glendenning family.

Annoj Srikantharajah

This is by far the worst hospital I've ever been too it has the feel of a third world hospital. They take forever just to get a nurse to attend to my ailing grandma. I see all the nurses in the observatory room just talking about personal stories none of them look professional nor act professional. They seem like they genuinely don't care about their patients. It's so bad that if Toronto is going to have a hospital like this they may as well shut it down.

Chris Yu

Super bad attitude of the nurse in this hospital. Our baby was transferred from St Joseph health care to here due to the distance we need to travel everyday. I regretted that I made this transfer in 5 hours. The rudeness of the way nurse talk to you.The terrible situation of the hospital. What kind of nurse can toss baby's wrap with a disgusting looking . I say St Joseph is heaven, rogue valley is the hell. Never even come to this hospital again.

Joslyn Almeida

Had an excellent birthing experience. Shout out to the RN, Ming, from the birthing unit at Centenary who made the excruciating pain I was going through a little more manageable. I honestly thought she was the doctor at one point because of how knowledgeable she was and how great she was at doing her job. If I have another kid I really hope I get her again!

Tev Seaux

The rudest hospital I have ever been to. The nurses ignored me for 5 minutes instead of trying to direct me to where I needed to be in order to visit a family member. Despite me saying “excuse me” multiple times. They stared relentlessly without giving a response. I would rather travel for an hour than deal with the terrible staff here. If you want your family to be well taken care of, DO NOT GO HERE.

Ashley Princeton

We were scheduled for an appointment, Saturday December 22nd at 9am with doctor dr. Kosii muthalay. As we went in for the appointment the clerk had told us that the appointment was noted for 10:30am yet he gave us a card saying 9am. After the fact, they had told us that he forgot and left work and wont be coming in that they will reschedule or have us wait for an oncall doctor at the time. Ontop of that the nurse and clerk at the front desk said "what can you do the doctor forgot, we are just the messengers". When the paperwork was right infront of them saying the doctor has an appointment scheduled today and should have reminded the doctor before he left for that is their jobs. It was all so absurd. We waited, because we of course did not have time the following week. With worries of a liver infection, and very frustrated as the doctor on call had come and told us he couldnt do much because it was not an emergency and no clinics are open. We had to then reschedule for an appointment. It was overall an absolute horrible experience and I do not reccomend going to pediatrics at centenary hospital.

Emily Peterborough

The worst hospital ever. I went for emergency room due to a terrible pain in my heart. They made me wait for 9 ( 10 pm - 7 am) hours and nothing happened. They wasted my blood and threatened me that if I leave the hospital I won’t get my results anyways. They didn’t submit my blood test results and I had to visit another Dr the next day. Staff were rude and were shouting at people who were asking when the Dr comes. Horrrrrrrible

Was trying to connect with the nursing stating in PICU since they have been called me 6 times so far to get an information with regards to them being related to me. I called back today and to my dismay the nurses had no clue what the calls were with regards to. On top of that, nurse Josephine said " Well we are the evening staff and have no idea what the morning staff called for. Everyone is gone... So call back on Tuesday". Mind you today is Thursday. I further asked to speak to the charge nurse, and was placed on hold for 5mins and Josephine said "Charge nurse said she is busy and you need to call back". If this is the staff of an ICU then I cannot imagine what other departments are like. Since there was a sense of urgency in the voicemails left, I requested to be transferred to the manager and was told that she is away until Tuesday. I requested to be transferred to the voicemail and they seemed to be quite a shuffle and that none of the staff members had the manager Kim's extension on hand. Again very perplexing. I was finally transferred to the manager's voicemail on a 3 way with someone listening to my voicemail message. So I hung up and called back extension 7435.Got Josephine again, and when I confronted her with eaves dropping on my voicemail, she became hysterical and screamed back at me and hungup. I called back, again to get the same nurse. She was screaming again about having no clue about anything and blurted the extension . I hung up as this seemed waste of time and called the nurse Manager Kim's extension ( think it was 4211) and left a detailed voicemail. I am extremely concerned about the staffing situation over the holiday period. Seems like these evening/float/temp nurses have no accountability. And having them in an ICU is definitely concerning. Terrible experience!

mr anonymous

The wait for emergency is way too long. It took them 4 hours to get results for blood work. We stayed almost 6 hours. Worst of all the waiting area is rubbish. If they're going to keep you for 5 6 hours atleast put better seats. The staff is ok, not great.

Na Lini

My sister was in ccu and it too over an hour before they can locate her. Secondly, the Indian charge nurse with glasses on the evening shift Thursday 15th of Aug was absolutely, obnoxious and rude to the family yelling misbehaving and cause my sister to be nervous and stressed. She got so sick about it. Then she took the daughter name off of seeing her mom deliberately. . Is this how this hospital is caring for patients. They sent my sister home and she was so weak. I dont care about what stories will be given but something has to be done about these nurses who are onpower trips.

JustCallMeHayzel

I normally go to Michael garron hospital by coxwell and Mortimer and they never seem to be under staff. This hospital is honestly under staff or they have nurses just sitting around l. I'm not sure what their job is but honestly its ridiculous. The waiting room is so packed theres nowhere to sit down you have to stand for hours. People seen a triage and still waiting 2hours and havent been seen. This is sad they really have to do better at this hospital. Some of the nurses look frustrated like they are working doubles or havent Eaton anything yet. I won't come back to this hospital the only reason I'm here is because I wasnt allowed to drive myself so I had to take the bus this is my closest hospital to my house. No wonder the stars are so low on here. Extra added.....nurse was very rude when I said I'm going home she told me well that's ur decision if something happens to u it's not our fault. Then after 4 hours we're told theres only 1 doctor working 5 rooms in the hospital. There was a kids in severe pain throwing up and not one nurse or doctor acknowledged him. They finally did something once the mother started screaming at the top of her lungs for assistance. That's disgusting for a health care place. Get for night doctors.

Steven Young

I would grant zero stars if I could. I scheduled a Covid vaccine appointment in the website. I arrived on time and waited with the others. At the entrance to the clinic I was asked to present proof of employment in Scarborough. I was denied entry as I do not work in the area. Nowhere on the website nor in the application process was this geographic exclusion mentioned. I wasted my time and wasted a slot that could have been used by another. I have heard that because of these ridiculous inflexible limitations the clinic is now having difficulty finding eligible recipients and there are many openings in the schedule. Who is responsible for the poorly designed incompetent and opaque website and its deceptive questions? Do not waste your time at this hospital. There are better competent institutions in the GTA.
