You have the opinions of people who have information of the products and services of Providence Healthcare (Hospital) in Ontario (Canada).
Currently the firm has a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5 and that score is based on 68 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is really good, and it is founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Hospital is included in the category of Hospital.
I have found the staff at Providence to be exceptional, for the most part, but there is one who clearly stands out from the rest: DONALD at security. His competence, integrity, courteousness, good cheer, helpfulness, etc. are doubly impressive and deeply appreciated during this time of Covid. A huge Thank you to Donald from me and my Mom.
I did a co-op placement here for about 6 months a few years back. I interacted one-on-one with residents, staff, and other students daily. It's a very welcoming place, very clean and professional; all the staff are extremely caring. They have programs and activities designed to make things fun and educational for residents. I specifically remember Java Music days, Movie nights, Bingo, and dancing. It was a very memorable and impactful experience and I will definitely come back to volunteer here in the future :)
2 stars for now as our patient still in this place. But what I experienced and hearing through our patient, staffs are kind of rude and rough, one staff I've been having a conversation for a little incident was very high superior kinda attitude. She won't even let us hear what we have to say she kept cutting us off. I know some staff are good, some are very good but we are very upset for the one who's treating patients so badly. Taking job like that you must do with kindness.
Very nice place but staff are rude. They don't get the true facts about patients nor family lies and drama. ..Listened to patients telephone conversations. Keeping a 87 year old patient against there wishes. This is the last place I would ever recommend. Wonder how many law suits have been brought to them.?
I am an outpatient at Providence Rehab centre and I love this place! My physiotherapist is Delene and She is a thorough professional! She very helpful, knowledgeable and motivating! I would highly recommend providence outpatient rehab!
Transferred to Providence after hip replacement surgery. Very professional staff of Drs., Nurses, student nurses and support staff. Clean pleasent environment. Physiotherapists and OTs speeds the healing process with expert guidance.
Clean, attentive Staff, only a bit small, one or two persons at a time they very pleasant.
Staff is friendly and polite the facilities are clean and cleaned several times a day the doctors monitor you very closely. The food is the worst I have ever had at a hospital the planning of the meals made no sense for lunch I had a decent pasta dish with dessert thought this would make a nice dinner only to get a peanutbutter & jam sandwich for dinner! That happened twice then I got a fruit plate with cottage cheese plate and I'm diabetic the portion of fruit I was given was more then I should have been given the bread is hard and only the middle is edible
Can't thank them enough
I was a patient here and the food was very awesome. my favorite nurse monique works at providence Health care hospital in Scarborough andl she took very good care of me whenever I was there and she was working. I will be coming back to visit very soon and every year to see her however not at the moment because of covid 19. I will always be her favorite patient and she will always be my favorite nurse.
I have never experienced such a caring thoughtful and respectful team of expert staff as here. The people who work here Want to work here and really help!
great place to work at.
Great place
I stayed in this place for 5 weeks recovering from an automobile accident. It was my home. VERY clean and quite. All the staff are super nice and kind. Doctors, Nurses , OTs , PTs Admins, recreations, security, housekeeping and students. They encouraged and motivated me all the time. They are the reasons I am getting back to my normal life. I could not imagine the life without them. Oh... and the food is 5 star restaurant :)
My dad came here for rehab after heart surgery. On the outside in the hallways everything looks clean. In his room the bathroom is in sanitary and the staff is rude. The lady that sits at the information desk is just rude. She speaks with no mannerism what so ever. We have not seen any staff members attend to my father since we’ve been here. Would not recommend this place the staff has attitude and it truly looks like a place where people go to die.
There is no Emergency in this Hospital. This is Rehabilitation Hospital as far as I know.
Our family is grateful for the help that out mother got here after the stroke. Just great place and very nice people!
Good place
Very bad chinese nurse don't want to do the proper job they hide in the evening shift especially if you are color person very bad attitude with them like me i had a fight with the nurse due to her reckless service on other hand when you have the white nurses they do awesome job no complaint from them. thank you, AQEEL AHMED
You’d think that with all the years in medical school they’d teacher the doctors how to read a clock.
Not the best but not bad at all
A3 was a good place to work a few years ago but it’s become an Awful place, lots of unprofessional tactics going on in a very underhanded ways. The A3 manager at the time was Sharon Crossan, they had her managing 3 different departments ? She became a very hyper vigilant manager crossing into a bulleying type of management that was instilling fear and intimidation. The attitude with the upper management became we DARE YOU !! to make a complaint about us and if you do, be prepared for reprisals. The reprisals did come without any explanation or transparency fast and furious affecting employees health mentally and physically . We are planning a demonstration and a protest in the near future in front of Providence Healthcare facility St Clair East at Warden Ave into this organization that is promoting this kind of management of employees. Please be a part of this protest against Bulleys and be a part of denouncing it as soon as it occurrs when you see it in the workplace !! Be a part of the Solution NOT part of the problem !
Too good for seniors seeking a nice place to enjoy their retired life
I'm sitting in the kitchen 2 years after being discharged from the stroke and Neuro department of Providence. I only have positive memories when I think of the staff there. I was 32 years old and was there for a month. The food was great but I also didn't have any restrictions on my diet. The nurses were a godsend and did whatever it took to make me feel at ease. I was tucked in comfortably every night thanks to El. The physio was amazing and the doctor was readily available since they make their rounds pretty often. Such a great memory I hold dear.
Generally no help at all. Everyone is on a break. The attending doctor has 23 other patients and is not willing to provide information to immediate Family.
My mom went there after a stroke. They lost her phone and when me and my sister went to ask for help to find it they said they couldn't do anything because it wasn't their responsibility. We knew it was in the pillow case and asked to check the laundry to see if it was there for sure. They then said they couldn't help because maintenance wasn't available. Also when she left there we were scheduled for a follow up check up. They set a date for the 17th and I even booked that time off work so I could take my mom there and when we called to confirm what time they changed the day to the 16th and said that we must have heard wrong because the doctor isn't in that day. Why would I book the day off if I wasn't certain it was that day? It honestly seems that the staff at the front desk is extremely lazy. And because of that it ruined the whole experience. If you or a loved one do end up there, make sure you don't leave any electronics around because its not their responsibility. Even though they are there to take care of them, seems like they take care of themselves first. I know having a cellphone would seem better than waking everyone in the room up because the beside phone ringer is on as loud as it can get. But its better not to lose it. And make sure you get it in writing what day the appointment is, so they don't say that you heard wrong.
I was there for rehab after having surgery on my head for a benign tumor. The doctors and therapists were the best. Very kind and patient. In fact, all of the staff was so kind. The nurses are very attentive to the patients, very friendly and helpful. I was taken care of by the best. I was there for about 10days, and even though it was a little further from my home. I received the best care. Thank you.
Horrible experience at 3A wing. Please take more care of the sick and treat them better . They send people home early when it is still too risky for them to go home which is a nightmare on the care giver. sign of the decline of our health care system, SAD. Majority of the nurses are good and wonderful, they need more of them. the physiotherapists and occupational therapists are very good and kind. Some of the staff are really evil , I would not trust them alone with my grand-mother in the room , nightmare on the patients. The authorities will be contacted so I can publish some names of the abusers, including a doctor. Just look at the google reviews for their chief of staff Dr. Peter Nord , you will be shocked , wickedness in high places. Our health care system was one of the best in the world , no longer, thanks to some of the staff at providence, the destroyers of health . BE CAREFUL !! Thank you
Hospital is great. But some of the staff nurses and psws need to be coached back. They get paid to do the job but what I have witnessed is beyond unacceptable. As a student there was not much I could have said or done, but if I do become a nurse maybe I can make a difference. Don't get me wrong there were wonderful nurses and psws but there were some that are very unprofessional, loud, verbally abusive to their clients. Yes, the administrator is on sight but does nothing! I do not plan another practicum there ...if i do it would last resort and option .. desperate measures!
This location helped me in terms of providing me resources for rehabilitation. Also, I have met with various staff who have helped me regulate my medication properly and given me such good care that I was able to get my life back and change careers to Healthcare. I am forever thankful to this Healthcare system for helping me.
Stay far away from this place. Don’t follow code of ethics, unorganized, abusive staff (I’m not exaggerating),& poor skill training. And no, I do NOT wish to discuss my concerns, just warning others by sharing this information. Be careful.
Great little Healthcare facility
Providence Healthcare/rehab are a wonderfully caring and thorough hospital. I spent time there about 2 years ago and was treated w. Excellence. You feel safe as soon as you set foot there. From day 1 to discharge. And the food is incredible!
My papa was transferred here on December 27th from Michael Garron Hospital he was in Hospital on Christmas day as he fell and fractured his pelvis he was sent here for rehab the nurses were so nice Lynn was one of my papa's nurse she has a nice sense of humor which also was helpful as my papa had some smiles he is to be sent home tomorrow January 10th I appreciate the services and help my papa received while he was there thank u for giving my papa the help he needed to get him back on his feet
My 80 year old mom arrived there on Friday after having major heart surgery, she was delighted to be in this rehab after hearing so much about it. On Sunday I phoned her in the morning to hear her answer her phone crying , she could barely tell me that she had asked for assistance to the bathroom, nurse lead her there and walked out only to hear my mom moan for help, mom fell to the ground flat on her face. Taken to hospital where she had stitches! Spent 5 days there. Tonight she was transported back to rehab! Went looking for her clothes! Nurse knew nothing about her belongings! Found them in bags on a floor , she was extremely rude to me! Asked her for assistance in sitting my mom up only to grab her in s tought manor! I will be making calls tomorrow to speak to person in charge. This is pathetic!
I can't express my gratitude enough for the amount of care Providence had for my father. Wonderful staff, helpful and kind. They made the process easier for me and my family and they were very understanding.
Great place made me feel like I was a part of their family very positive environment helped me a lot during my five week stay plus during my out patient time would highly recommend it
I would highly recommend Providence Healthcare. After a week in the hospital after a cardiac event, I was sent to Providence. Despite the lack of funding for staff in healthcare (which was noticeable in both the hospital and re-hab), the staff at Providence (doctors, nurses, student nurses, therapists and social workers) were all very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and took the time to answer my questions and explain things. They not only took care of me, taught me how to take care of myself, provided tips and advice on what I needed in order to go home, they inspired me to do better and get better. I am amazed at how far I came in the 14 days I was there. I not only saw the improvement in myself but also in other patients.
You have to experience it to tell everyone situation is difference. There are some good some bad.
I was a 47 year old patient at providence in 2013. I had just suffered a big stroke and was in very bad shape. My experience was totally positive. The staff was courteous and professional, (including dr. Peter nord) when the group came in the morning for my assessment. The rehab staff was tough, but that in retrospect is what is needed to transition a person from feeling sorry for themselves to working themselves out of the stroke paralysis. It will be 4 years now this october and i could say that the work ethic i learned from charlene and the folks at rehab returned my life to me. I am almost 100% and im still working on it. I still come to providence when time allows me to try to thank them for helping me at my lowest point. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!!! please continue to help people. What you do changes lives. Joe
My brother was at this location and he agrees with the other review regarding food. He hated the food! The dietitian, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, social workers and physio therapist were all great!
My loved one stayed in the long term care side and also spent time in the hospital. Both places didn't listen to our concerns and had staff that had terrible, patronizing and uncaring attitudes. We had to join a separate family group to advocate for those in the dementia unit because they were left in unsanitary conditions and often without any recreational activities to keep them engaged. When our loved one was in the hospital, the doctor refused to listen to our family, had a God complex and in the end, insisted on prescribing medication that was unnecessary. As you'll see from older posts - and the administration's tactics haven't changed - from former staff to patients, there is a fear of reprisals and a pervasive attitude that they're doing you a favour so you should just be quiet and do as they tell you. Our family member suffered horribly there, and if we didn't manage to get out, I'm certain that we wouldn't be spending time together today! Yet the damage has been done. Don't ever send your loved one there! It looks good on the outside, but I agree with the other poster, it's a place one goes to die and they will help usher you out!
Good facility and good assistance with my father's care. Generally found the staff/doctors and nurses to be attentive and caring
I have not been yet at this place, but was planning to go there for the treatment. As I read the comments, I felt terrified! The rudness of some nurses and psw is consisted in many replies! I wonder why is this still going on and why the management is not doing anything about it??? This is outrageous and criminal to insult or abuse any patient!!! This makes me physically sick just hearing about it!!! What's happening to Canada. It feels that it turned from the kindest country into a swamp of savages, especially in our health and long- term care systems!! SHAME ON YOU, MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION FOR BEING IN COMPLIANCE WITH YOUR STAFF AND TURNING YOUR BLIND EYE TOWARDS THEIR MONSTROUS BEHAVIOR! As for me, I will be cancelling my plans for coming to your centre for a treatment!
Wonderful and supportive staff to care their guests and patients. Very pleasant environment with many greens! Easy access with car and public transportation.
My 95 year old father was sent to this rehab hospital a few days ago. The main purpose is to help him start walking again with a walker. My father is very healthy considering his age and was quite mobile before he was sick. Now his medical condition is okay but they will have to train him back for walking. The first day he was admitted I got 5 phone calls from the hospital, coming from the admissions, the pharmacist the nurse, the social worker and the Covid staff. All of them wanted info from me as to how to take care of my father. They also asked what my father liked to eat so they can cater for his menu. I visit my dad everyday and I met some very nice staff there so far. Overall, I am impressed.
This is an amazing bariatric center...I had a great experience with them...very skilled and organized people...I wish you all the best
