Wonderful caring staff and convenient for West Northumberland.

Brandi Pollock

best hospital ever. i been in there with a broken foot and very bad sprained wristed and for my kid. each time we were out within an hour or two. they are kind and sweet and understanding. having a crazy active 3yr old boy and they made it not so horrible on me. thank you for all you guys and gals do. means the world. i am new to northumberland. oshawa hospital is 4 hr wait time average

T Dillon

They keep finding BOYS whenever they do an ultrasound. Excellent service - very caring and considerate staff, and wonderful facilities. Only negative is paid parking... even when you are waiting for a doctor, you are paying to park... sort of like salt on a wound.

Incompetent doctor's, I have never come here and been satisfied by the service provided. The first time I needed their services they told me I had no jaw damage whatsoever and then I go to Oshawa and it turns out my jaw was broken. If I lived near another hospital I would gladly forget this place existed.

This is a very nice place, but only of you are nice to them. My Grandfather was admitted here a few weeks ago by ambulance. The drivers we're dumb and the hospital ER was full at the time so he had to wait. Once he went upstairs he had his own room and only got a roommate when he got better. He was then fed every day and they started helping him walk again. Unfortunately he had an allergic reaction to the pneumonia medication and he contracted 4 parasites. They then got it down to 1 and that's when he got a new roommate because the other one went home. He then began to eat less and he got tremors whenever he moved. They then found out that the man beside him had given my Grandpa a parasite before he died that attacks weak people. They were going to put them both in private rooms to die but the other guy couldn't wait. My grandpa's kidneys then began to shut down. When he arrived in his private room we were given an option to either do a complete dialysis or let him pass. So we did the humane thing. He then went into a semi-coma and his brain began to shut down. We are now waiting for his heart and lungs to stop, 13 hours before I turn 15.

This hospital ever since is useless people who works doesnt help and doesnt know anything. And i wont hope that you will fix this issue because its been and issue for soo long. I went to help desk and they dont know where to direct me which is stupid whats the point of naming it " help desk " if they dont know anything. And its not the volunteers its the actual staffs. In short useless hospital

It's hard to please everyone who walks through the door at a hospital as we all visit for different reasons at different times in our lives. Each time I've been in Emergency for myself, my kids or a close family member I have been treated with respect, been seen relatively quickly and with compassion by both the admitting staff as well as the dr's and nurses there.

Cobourg hospital is horrible, they are so slow and almost always wrong on all there decisions or diagnosis, I have had two daughters and we went to Oshawa both times because I don't trust that place with my family ever and never will till they make a drastic change in that place ????????????????️

Cris Dumitru

I went to this hospital with an emergency a few weeks ago and I had a really great experience. The staff was all very efficient - the check-in staff, the nurses, the tech who took my blood and did an EKG, and Dr. Laidlaw (who was the ER doctor who saw me) were all wonderful. The whole time I was there I felt like my concerns were listened to and I felt comfortable the whole time. The only negative thing was that there was a really long wait, I had to wait about 5 hours to see the doctor but I could see that they were busy and probably understaffed.

Giving this hospital 1 star is garbage..and more then it deserves. I can't even put into words how horribly angry and disgusted I am with this place..

Funny they have an air orange in the pic. Go ANYWHERE but this place......

Very bad "service"

NHH, Cobourg was awesome, the friendly front line emerge staff were very helpful and courteous and diligent and triage was thorough. Within 15 mins I was triaged and by 25 mins I was already seeing an attending physician (Alicia) was kind and compassionate and Dr. Cameron Kwok, just an amazing doc. Was kind enough to go they the medical stuff and then apply it to real life situations. My leg is infected obviously ( bacterial infection /cellulitis - but did catch it in time and the antibiotics and some prescribed steroids will help and reduce inflammation and hopefully soon enough it will be healed along with the poison ivy. I now have preventative information the will be very helpful in early diagnosis of coming in contact with poison ivy. ( I live in a rural town and I do have allot of untouched nature at my back door) Just a pleasant and expeditious experience at the NHH,

Would be a 0 if It could be. So unorganized

A true jewel of Medicine for Northumberland County! We are so very lucky to have the exceptional dedicated doctors and nurses at this hospital. The emergency department volunteers help alleviate the stress and are true angels on this earth!

Unforgivable treatment and lack of treatment for reason that I was sent over to er Er Didnt look at the actual problem I watch doctor after doctor completely ignore me and after asking nurse was told many stories to even being told the doctors choose whom they want to serve But they only heard one thing and only heard 2 words and miss judged me and still failed to treat me and by what I can say doctors refused to treat me .I walked out after 7 hours .I contacted hospital to inform them of what transpired and I received a call by the department that sent me to er to confirm that they called er as was stated and it was and is important that I be seen and treated that's is why I was sent to er .Er stated they never received the call and things just kept piling up and I realized the er made a decision right off the hop and I was not worthy of care .Hell the one doctor that Finally came to see told me the test showed nothing really and not sure why I was there. Hell they didnt ever examine me at all like they did with ever patient I watched them treat before me and after me and people that came in same time or even well after me and the Male doctor I was told was going to take care of me and even ordered a blood test I never even saw at all. This turned into Deplorable treatment of me. So I will staying home until can no longer take it or am forced to go to a hospital, my Trust completely gone!

Horrible E. R service, girlfriend walked in with a gash in her head and they called other people ahead of her while her head was still bleeding, and also waited for 3.5 hours and when asked when she was gonna be called in they always told her she’s next, but then never was. This place is absolutely horrible...

Chris Wallace

bumpkin2001

Worst delivery experience ive ever had. My ob changed her mind 3 times about what she was doing. Wouldnt follow what we had discussed and had agreed on. It is my birth plan not hers but she didnt care. Judged me because when she checked me it hurt. Her fingers weren't long enough to reach my cervix. I wont be recommending her to anyone.

Surena Shirazi

Poor services they make you wait 3 hours I think they should make a lot of changes

Amanda B

This was a great hospital with great staff. They were as accommodating as could be. The only reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars is bc the person who told me about the appt didn't give proper instructions and my 3 year old almost missed surgery by 30 minutes, lucky for us the next client didn't show.

Mark Valente

Will only give quality, timely care to the rich, friends or family of staff, if you don't fit that category the nurses will refuse to help, an elderly woman next to us pressed the call bell in distress 2 hours go by no help, lady begins crying we try to find a nurse which are all gossiping, says go back to your room, it is truly sad what social club the er is.

Nicole Redford

It’s almost as though they’re trying to get folks in and out as quickly as they can, with little regard for how serious their condition may be.

Heather James

This isn’t a bistro- what’s with the ratings? Triage saves lives based on an established protocol- and deals with all who can’t find a doctor for regular medical care- and show up along with the unvaccinated and the car crash victim and we all receive the same EXCELLENT level of care. So I had to wait three hours to get a dog bite treated- they saved a little kid from “drowning” and someone’s grandpa who fell. If you don’t like the service- tell your politician! If you do- make a contribution to the hospital fund / write a letter / volunteer. This is yours so make it better.

Carla Frechette

We waited quite a bit but at least I was in a bed and not in a hallway like hospital at home. Staff were friendly. Nurses, doctor and tech were great. Doctor was excellent, very thorough and kind. I left with answers and a treatment plan. Thanks for the great care.

gabbie bloxom

Partner has been left in ER for 6 hours now waiting for stitches, they have been saying he’s next for 5 hours now.

aj l

Worst wait times around miserable staff , doctors who prescribe cough edication for bacterial infections, and misalignment of setting broken bones. They need to do an internal review of the mess that they are. Just go to the peterborough hospital if you can

Nicole R Brass

Bad service and staff!!! Positive we will not be coming back here!!

Jeremy Alexander

Walked in with the worst migraine of my life, sat down for the triage nurse, he came out and told me it would be a 5-6 wait to see a doctor. There were 2 other people in the room waiting. Be worth the drive up to Peterborough for better service.

Nick Binetti

Still waiting in the emergency room, though apparently some people get good service: 4 or 5 individuals who arrived after me have been treated.

Rob Armstrong

These people save lives on a daily basis. Bravo !

James Hawkins

The workers in the covid assessment center trailer Are very friendly and made things as quick and comfortable as they could I think that you do A great job

Melissa McNally

Joe

Great caring staff.

Richard Tarrington

Sat there for 2 hours and not one person was called in...staff don't care...this place is a joke

Joe Algudady

The wait times were inexcusabely long and the staff was rude and unhelpful. This hospital makes the argument for privatized heath care.

Stella Heliconia

This hospital took me to collections over an ambulance fee that I never actually owed. They apparently tried to send me a bill, but got my address wrong. And my ODSP which is available via the health card number, which I gave them, should’ve covered it. They made no other attempts to contact me. Also, they had no beds, and only one doctor for the entire ER.

Tanya Mills

This is the single worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. The staff is inept and unprofessional, and today I received what I consider the icing on the cake - a bill for a "free voucher" for a cab ride home. I showed up at the hospital for a scheduled appointment at 7:30 am last week, only to find out that the booking department "made a mistake and didn't read the whole requisition", and I wasn't supposed to have an appointment that day after all. No apology. I guess my time only matters if I actually worked in the medical field. The assistant OFFERED to call a cab to come and get me and gave me a "free voucher", so I agreed. I have been a medical receptionist in the past in a small town and no one has ever received a bill because I picked up a phone and dialed a number for them. So it will cost me $10.19 cents for this high school graduate to dial a phone and hand me a supposedly "free voucher" to make up for their screw-up. Thank you, NHH. Thank you for nothing. 0/5

Cody Brown

I've had two kids (well my wife had them) here and the nurses, staff and FOOD are great!

Lev Khaimovich

All the nurses are very kind and are all very caring

Cobourg Observer

I don’t understand why the parking fees are so high. Where the money goes? Parking should be free or at a reduced rate within certain periods of time (e.g. week days and after 5 pm).

A.K.A. Strika

Awful. Wish there was an option for 0 stars… 1 star is overboard.

Hilary Welsh

Theresa Clark

The only thing they are consistent with in this hospital merge is the minimum 4 hour plus wait to see a doctor . Only 2 doctors on staff in the merge after Christmas ...Insane. If they were publically owned, whoever they have in charge of the staffing would be looking for a new job. I will say once you get past the emergence gridlock the nursing staff on the Hospital floors are Fantastic!

Lisa Schomber

Worst place ever. Wait time is more than 3 hours each I had been there. Nurses are rude, no katter how sick you are, wait for your life to see a doctor.

Carly Wilson

The MRI machine was amazing, not too loud, and not clausterphobic at all, however the receptionist was absent and disorganized, the tech was rude trying to rush me off the table when I could barely move my leg. Got in for an MRI fast date wise, but my appt was 7am, and i didn't get in until 8. Techs need to work on their friendliness, tests can be scary, they should be calming, and kind.

Rhea Munroe

Nurses and doctor were excellent and thorough. Only negative was the waiting time.

Acorn Custom Installations

Excellent assistance. Didn't wait too long & got the help I needed. Great doctors & support staff.

Bran

Basically a transfer point between real hospitals. Had to wait 8 hours to see a doctor when my grandfather was having chest pains. Third world care in a first world country. Building should be shut down and administration investigated.

Sammy Chown

I would like to acknowledge the excellent staff at the Cobourg Hospital Radiology department, especially Dr. M. Vaughan. Over the past several years, my family has had various MRIs, and while there are closer facilities to have this done, we don’t mind the 90 min drive from Mississauga because the experience at Cobourg is always prompt and courteous. Thank you!

E

Great experience. Caring staff. Quick too.

Rachel Nicholls

Got into emerg right away which was nice, but the wait in the back was at least 4 hours plus, so if recommend coming on a day that you don't have anything planned for the day/afternoon and also bring snacks and water !! I'm sure you'll get hungry from waiting this long. Nurses in back, I didn't get a friendly impression from, to bad.

Linda Wilding

End of life care for sister was amazingly special. Special thanks to the nursing staff there & the amazing volunteers. So great.

Mary Janes Dispensary

Awful staff. DO NOT come to this hospital if you or your child needs medical attention!!! Especially if you're brown!! I've never had any good experiences here.

Jay Haywood

One visitor per patient a day? Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You got people with masks not even over their nose in the waiting room but can't have more than 1 fully vaccinated people visiting someone who could die anyday. You're better off taking your love ones to Belleville or Oshawa and that's saying something.

Sunflower Bunch24

I'm leaving a review bc I was told to by a 12 year old human being and if I don't I will be abducted

Peter Tyrrell

The doctors and nurses at Northumberland Hills Hospital Emerg and ICU, saved my life. Emerg quickly diagnosed me with DKA and I was admitted and treated by the fabulous staff in the ICU. Thanks to NHH, I get to spend more time with my loved ones and for that I am eternally grateful.

john hamilton

We checked into a very quiet emergency room 3.5 hours ago. My partner is in extreme pain with a possible broken wrist. ..no painkillers offered. Absolutely pathetic health care. The administration should be ashamed to call this a hospital.

Marianne Sheppard

You are more likely to die than to receive proper care in this place. I went because of a miscarriage that did not happen the way it should. I had ultrasounds and even internal ultrasounds, and blood work that showed my HCG levels were still super high. They gave me 4 pills and sent me home. A week later I'm going to Campbellford because something is still very wrong. Turns out it was ectopic and could have killed me. I don't know how this place hasn't been sued out of business.

Shawn Rotstein

Wife has been waiting to be seen for over an hour, not a single patient has been called in to the doctor yet. We came 2 weeks ago when our 4 year old had a severe rash, and spent over 3 hours waiting, to the point we left and went elsewhere. Absolutely ridiculous, and if it's a staffing issue; HIRE MORE STAFF.

Allison Bayliss

I went into emerge with intense pain in my ovary and with in 1 weeks I had 2 ultrasounds, seen a gynaecologist 2-3 times was scheduled and registered for surgery (which I needed) did my pre-op had blood taken etc...and given my surgery within a week. 1 week!!! That is amazing. Not to mention the hospital is clean and organized and what really makes it is all the lovely staff and volunteers. Everyone I saw was kind, thoughtful, professional and understanding. I applaud the Cobourg hospital. It is the best one I have ever been to.

sam likopulos

Complete 5 star service very impressed.

ebram ahdy

Śīla May

My favourite hospital. The people are professional, kind, dedicated, thorough. The building and equipment is is good condition. There could be faster service in emergency, but the hospital is not to be faulted for that.

Jeremy Harrigan

Breanne

Misdiagnosed an Achilles tear as something far less. Now requires surgery.

Dr. A. Paul

Lovely caring staff and very competent OB and baby delivery personnel. This would make it our second baby delivered in NHH and we couldn’t be happier (don’t get me wrong, we didn’t have our second baby just because we enjoyed visiting the hospital so much the first time around :0) We had our first in 2015 with Dr Asiya Hameed as our OB. Lovely person and so very knowledgeable! Her sister, Rubeena, is a very loud talking softee who seems a little gruff but is a diamond once you get to know her. Dr Michael Green the other OB is a wiz with ultrasounds and surgeries. Roger, one of the anesthesiologist is amazing at what he does as well. The support staff.. wow.. couldn’t say enough nice things about them. Cathy, Jen, Julie and a few others that I don’t remember names off hand, kept my wife so much at ease both times.. we loved all the care and attention. We highly recommend NHH for this magical period of your life!

Not sure who I was talking to but I was trying to reschedule an appointment by their request and was being yelled at by the lady on the phone for asking questions about my appointment...great way to treat people. Have never been here so can't comment on the actual medical service but not off to a great start.

I drive from Barrie Ontario to attend this hospital. Barrie's hospital is to say the least the worst in the province. At NHH I have had Superior care, wonderful staff ALWAYS... I have had tests done that well I would rather not do. But the staff take into account my fears...they have held my hand and done everthing they can to alleviate my fears. My family doc is associated with this hospital and I believe in my heart of hearts that this is the BEST darn HOSPITAL in ALL of ONTARIO for ADULTS. Thanks NHH Staff JH

Almustafa Al

Clean hospital, friendly staff. Thank you

I have been seeing Dr Jeff MacPherson at the Northumberland Hospital. He takes care of my back. He is the nicest Dr that I have ever had. Very professional and friendly. He is helping me with my extremely sore and aching back. I would certainly recommend him. He is young and very good looking. He goes out of his way to try to help me with my pain. I count my blessings that I found him.

Cathy K

Spent the better part of the day in the emergency department with my son. Dr Kwok and his staff were exceptional. They were attentive, very thorough and kind. I was extremely impressed with their level of professionalism.

Sat Nov 3rd I visited NHH with my 12 month old son who had a infected finger. After waiting 4 hours, the doctor took 5 mins with my son, listened to his chest, prescribe antibiotics and sent us on our way. I took my son the next day to Lakeridge Hospital because his finger got worse. They discovered in 2 seconds my son had a heart murmur, admitted us right away, and later transferred us to sickkids. We ended up spending a month at sickkids because we found out that my 1 year old son has a very rare case of high blood pressure ( his BP went to 238 during surgery for his finger) that we are still unsure how to treat. He is on 4 high BP meds now and has many dr apt to follow. If it wasnt for my sons finger, which ended up having the Herpes Virus ( cold sore) we dont know what his life would of been like, especially if lakeridge didnt take the action they did unlike NHH. My recommendation, take the time to go to more the city hospitals, than this one.

Donna Tremblay

Where do I start. It’s been 2 1/2 weeks now and I don’t know if my foot is broken or just torn. They Cobourg hospital) sent my x-ray results to my doctor stating there is nothing wrong with my left foot. Maybe that’s because I hurt my right foot? Just wow.

Lorrie Martin

I have never had such amazing kindness and thoughtfulness in a hospital as I did this one . I came from out of town to see my father who unfortunately passed in this hospital . The emergency DEPT nurses were so kind and helpful in this awful situation . He was then put on 2B and Sam , Ayish , katelynn , tended to my dad . They were so kind and accommodation to me and my father . In such a tragic experience , to everyone at this hospital “thank you “for your dedication to me and my family xo

George Mangos

Very nice, professional , staff made me feel comfortable during my day surgery . Thank you

This place is a joke come here 3 times now in the last year got 10 15 people walking around both only 1 doctor at the emergency that is a joke it call emergency ??? 6 hour wait before you see a doctor this is a joke

Malcolm Rawlings

Paul Bedford

Great caring service and people

Brittany Cochrane

Do NOT listen to the nurses on the tour or in the birthing suites. You will absolutely have to pay for the private room when you have your baby. We were told countless times that you stay in the birthing suites, if they are full and must move you they will otherwise they just keep you in the same room. I just received a $300 bill two months later. Very frustrating.

Alexandra Allen

I absolutely LOVE this hospital!! The staff are so kind and genuinely care about the patients. I live closer to Trenton Hospital and will never go there again. I could tell horror stories about that hospital! After their last misdiagnosis (after several previously), I vowed never to go there again. I just can't say enough about Northumberland Hills. We are treated with empathy and complete respect there. I won't take my children anywhere else. Also my mom had what turned into a major surgery there in 2011. Two hours turned into eight hours. Dr. Andrew Stratford was performing the surgery. He was absolutely wonderful and the follow-up care couldn't have been better. The nurses on the maternity ward were amazing in 2008 when my son was born...we lived in Colborne at the time. I had a very difficult pregnancy with my daughter who was born in Toronto, so I was very anxious about my son being born. I had an amazing experience. The staff were so kind, caring and gentle with me and I loved that they were telling jokes in the delivery room and everybody was laughing. I was totally at ease. Thank you to all the staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital!!

M A

I had to stay here for a week and they were really nice. the emergency room isnt great and sometimes theres a long wait, but i think that's probably more the fault of the ontario health system than the staff. much better than the Kingston hospital.

My Th

I called the hospital to try and get an update about an elderly freind who went by ambulance with advanced cancer and the ER "nurse" that answered my call said " she is being admitted " I asked, with concern " into palliative care?" She said " she's being admitted! What's more to say?" Well there was much more, for all of us who care about Rose, that she could have said. Even we are really busy. Can you call back when we know more or I will tell her you called. INCONSIDERATE, INSENSITIVE AND RUDE!!

ron bain

On a Sunday in October 2018 after being released from Toronto General the previous Friday where stents (3) were installed in my aorta I found that Icould not walk. Ambulance ride to NHH where i spent the most uncomforta ble night in emerge. After explaining my symptoms to the staff on duty I was given tylenal to bring my temperature down...i belkeve I was 1/2 degree high than normal. This went on for 5 days then I was released with Prednisone and instructrd to takr for 5 days.I attendrd Port Hope walk in clinic on Sunday following my release from NHH and within 15 mins i was advised I had spinal stenosis. This is,in my opinion , a bad mark against the hospital. I am positive that I will think twice before I return.

Jennifer Hie

Very disappointed in the emergancy Ward three times had my 9 month old in and there times told me there was nothing wrong with him even tho he had a fever of 39.9 for three mornings in a row.. finally went peterbrough pop clinic and within a hour found out fever was caused by ear infection . Needless to say if there is ever an emergency with my children again I will not go to cobourg hospital ever again

Denise Drew

my son went to Emerg yesterday for a swollen knee and leg, and excruciating pain from his knee to his foot, x-rays were done and no break was visible so he was sent home and told to take Naproxen and to use his leg as much as he could and that he could use voltaren rub. Today we went to see his family doctor who extracted 105ml of fluid from his knee and there is likely more but we will go back in 2 days to have it looked at again. The care he received at NHH was far from what I would expect from any Emerg department but I guess it is no less than what I have come to expect from this hospital

Dawn Mansfield

Dr.Frances Crawford was top notch, wasn't feeling great yesterday into this morning thank you for diagnosing me as diabetic

Gregory Wicklund

Good experience with all staff and doctor. Also had a follow-up phone conversation with the doctor the following day, greatly appreciated.

Cheryl Scott

Waited to see a doctor for 7 1/2 hours and I came in an ambulance. Then waited for another 4 1/2 hours for the hospital to call a cab.

jennifer young

Giving a 1 star is pushing it. Zero start is what you deserve because of your front entrance screener this AM.

sandy stroh

Amanda Peters

Had nothing but positive experiences at this hospital. From ER doctors and nurses, general surgeon, and ambulatory care staff - All have been wonderful!.... I am now going to have my first child at NHH in April. Everyone I have come in contact with has been so kind. Of course sometimes you have to wait in the ER. That is to be expected. But once you are seen, you are met with caring individuals.

Holly Campney

Zachery Snelgrove

Worst hospital ever, sat in a chair for 3 hours and havent seen anyone aside from other patients

Nichole Pot

I went to Cobourg hospital for an MRI on May 6th at 5pm. The MRI technologist was AMAZING. He was patient, polite and explained everything to help with the MRI testing. Thank you for your hard work.

John

elizabeth greaves

From the volunteers at the main entrance, to admin staff, porters, technicians and on to the medical staff - all were warm, knowledgeable and efficient. As my cancer was diagnosed and removed, I was kept engaged throughout on all proceedures, given options and encouraged to ask questions. I could not imagine better care of me as a whole person - not just the "cancer". My only negative comment - why did it take me more than a year to say thank you?

dhimpzRose Lagmay

Kudos to all stuff, nurses,Doctors especially to nurse Alex,Paula,Maddie and to the nurse who always helps fixing Chris oxygen and to the Dr .at Port hope walk in clinic she even come visit here Hospital she's the best. And all the stuff in this hospital all doing such a good job and very friendly. Again thanks a lot for all the helps.

Nancy Lester

I was very impressed by the kind and capable care my friend received in her final days. Thank you, NHH.

Suzanne Veinot

Nurses did their job and that's about it. Had two different conversations with two doctors about my mom's episode. At least they did test I asked for. Left unimpressed with lack of attentiveness showed to my aging mother. Also was there for 5 hrs. I think stroke symptoms should be priority as she came in unstable.

Katie Morewood

I have always been treated well at this hospital. Wait times can be long, but that should be expected in emergency rooms. It's all about triage. if you had to wait, you weren't in dire straights, otherwise you wouldn't be alive to complain.

Philip Redford

Can't believe this hospital. Worst ever. If I could give it 0 I would. I now sit here in Peterborough emergency pondering their accountability statement. I am here with my brother-in-law David Jeffery Miller who I am told (unequivocally) has had a stroke. He is unable to communicate, use his right arm or leg. He has a blood clot in his left carotid artery. None of this was caught by this hospital. On February 12 he was taken in to emerg with twitching in his right arm. He was looked at and not seen as serious. Again on the 14th he was taken in to emerg and prescribed Baclofen by the emerg Dr. for what they called a muscle spasm issue. His MRI was bumped up to Feb 15, the next morning and we were told that if anything was noticed, he'd be kept and treated appropriately. He was told after the MRI he was free to go (apparently the MRI was never flagged as emergency) By Monday Feb 18 he was much worse. In the meantime, on Feb 20 the report on the MRI was finally rendered which (and I did not discover this until days later) indicated two lesions on the frontal left cortex. Finally by Sunday, Feb 24th he was again taken to emerg. Again, although he could not speak, move his right arm or leg much at all, I was told TO MY FACE that there was no indication of serious concern and he was let go (I AM SURE THE EMERG DR WOULD HAVE AT THAT TIME HAD ACCESS TO THE MRI REPORT FINALLY RENDERED ON THE 20TH) and they said just get him to his GP. I did that today Feb 28 and she was most concerned and told me she thought he'd likely had a stroke and to get him to Peterborough which I did. And now, here we are. He will be transported to Sunnybrook tomorrow and I am told may never regain his arm movement, don't know about the speech or the implications of his aforementioned clot. This is worse than unconscionable or negligent in my opinion. If you wang decent care, go elsewhere!

Tony George

Waited well over 5 hours to even leave the waiting room for my elderly father

Paul Nolan

Worst hospital in Ontario.

Denise Beasley

Male nurse in ER rude yelling at my 87 yr old father who had stroke..he only wanted to get up to pee ... 10yrs in ER believe his time is up needs to move on he's lost his compassion and respect for patients !

Derek Rahme

I injured my rib 2 years ago and came here. The pain in my ribs was intense, It hurt to breathe, I had to lay on my back all the time, and I laid in bed for about 2 months because I'm pretty sure I had a broken rib. When I came here into Emergency, I waited for hours, When I finally got x-rayed and seen by a doctor, he told me everything was fine and sent me on my way. Yet, after I left, I spent over a month laying in bed. I needed assistance anytime I needed to get up to use the bathroom, I could only take short breathes for atleast 3 or 4 weeks , the pain was extraordinary, and to this day, I can still feel that something is abnormal about it because it hasn't healed properly. Worst hospital ever. Nobody gives a damn. They sit around and collect the cheque with little or no regard for the patients they're supposed to be helping. One person once said, "That place sucks, I wouldn't even take my dog there" and I agree. People come to hospitals to get their injuries or illnesses checked out, but the staff here, basically, just get you out the door as quickly as they can after making you wait for hours in a waiting room. I see people walk out of the waiting rooms all the time because they're sick of waiting and the staff doesn't give a damn. Wake up.

Has to be THE WORST hospital I have ever been to! SIX HOURS AND COUNTING for my three year old to get stitches yet a lady with a sprained finger was in and out in two hours.... soooo my bleeding baby has to wait longer than a lady that hurt her finger seriously? Appalling

This might be the worst hospital I have experienced in a first world country. In the ER, I waited over three hours to be seen. It's not like there were many people in the waiting room either. When I finally was called up, with a brutal mispronunciation of my name, I basically had a conversation with the nurse with not much advice or suggestion for my health concern in a dirty shared room with other patients. No privacy, no empathy, I felt pretty embarrassed. Not sure why I wasted my time here. I normally go to Peterborough and could have been there and back and at home by the time I was seen at Northumberland. I've learned my lesson.

Last night, on February the 9th, 2019, my boyfriend and I visited the hospital emergency room due to a foot injury. This injury took place the week before, but after a week of work it was decided that the injury should be checked out in case extra care needed to be taken. Isn’t that what hospitals are for? Getting injuries or healthcare issues checked out and accounted for? Unfortunately, this night left both my boyfriend and I on unpleasant terms with this hospital. After waiting for hours, we were finally attended to, however, waiting was not the issue. It was the service we were provided that made us both feel unwelcome and, in all honesty, quite angry. A doctor came to my boyfriend’s attention, asked what was wrong, when the injury occurred (which had been the week before) and became angry with him at this response. She shook her head, pulled off his shoe, dropped it on the floor and then threw his sock on to the chair he was seated in. She then proceeded to push and yank at his foot with absolutely no care or sympathy being displayed. She said that she had “no sympathy for [him]” provided he left the issue for so long and that he was “misusing our healthcare system”. I am a mature nineteen-year-old girl. I understand entirely that working on the night shift at a hospital possessing the stressful job of a doctor can wear somebody down and cause them to be grumpy, however, this kind of attitude is unacceptable when dealing with patients that are also tired, stressed, and likely dealing with other issues as well. I would also like to mention this; a few months ago, my mother came to this hospital seeking help because she had injured her foot at work. After waiting and eventually getting x-rayed, she had been told there was no break and to go home given only crutches. After another five weeks of working on her sore foot, she finally decided to go get a second opinion because the pain had not eased. Seeing her family doctor, she was again x-rayed, but then also given the option for a bone scan, where it was found that it was broken in not one, but two spots. Is it not the hospital’s job to take this extra step as well? Given this experience, my boyfriend saw no hurt in going to get his sore foot, that yes, he had been working on all week, checked out. Overall, this doctors service was completely and utterly unprofessional. As a current nursing student, I have learned that part of working in the healthcare system includes having characteristics such as affection, sympathy and care – all of which this doctor did not display. Unfortunately, we failed to catch her name as we were so taken back by her unpleasant service. I am just writing this review to inform the hospital that we, as patients, will not return to this hospital for aid in the future. Our visit was concluded by this angry doctor saying “Get out of my emergency room,” so I will conclude this letter by saying this: Doctors like this woman should feel more than welcome to get out of our healthcare system.

Terrible. Walked in with pain and a headache thats causing memory loss, confusion and such. After 6 hours, doctor sees me and says "migraines" when I was savagely attacked and nearly killed 4 months ago and suffer from concentration, memory and confusion. Doctor acted like I shouldn't of even came for help or as if I was wasting his time. Big shoutout to Brad for being considerate and reasonable; giving me hope. Sincerely Amjed Suliman

I have always had a pleasant experience at NHH. From the seamless covid immunization process both times to a simple registration upon entering. Professional experiences any time that I have been here. Thank you to the mammograpy department ( you were wonderful). Also special thanks to ( Dr. Allison Tilley). NHH sure has a great (General Surgeon) on staff. Kind, caring, explanatory, efficient and telephone follow up was right on schedule. I would give her my own personal 5 star rating. Thanks to all who continue to work through these times. We are very appreciative to have you!

No sense of urgency whatsoever. Sitting in the waiting room with my pregnant girlfriend trying to convince the staff that we need to see a doctor as we think she is losing the baby. The nurse agreed that we had a time sensitive case and then told me i would have to wait like everyone else. Been here almost two hours with bleeding and pain. Real compassion showed by a bunch of "angel of death" nurses who are literally too busy counting change from the parking machine to help sick people.

I went to the Hospital yesterday. As soon as I enter at the Main Entrance, someone offer me a wheel chair and brought me at the emergency. Everything went quickly. I have been seen by Amanda Norrad ND which has been very attentive to my leg/foot problem. The time at the emergency has been the half of what we have in Québec. Thanks to all the staff.

I am very surprised to see the current rating of our own local hospital. It is a 5 star unit all the way. I guess we haven’t had the experience in bigger cities like Toronto and GTA. As someone who works in TO I have had both experiences and there’s no match to what we get in NHH compared to GTA. I want to thank the amazing staff at NHH who helped me with my COVID testing this last Friday, May 22. After having a cold and cough for a few days and as a precaution I took the advice of our good friend Dr Mukesh Bhargava about getting the COVID test done. He was so assuring that I went in to NHH immediately. I registered in at 11:45ish and was out of there by 12:30. The team performed like clockwork. The area was socially distanced and the staff was well protected. Masks and sanitizers were available everywhere. I was totally at ease. On Sunday I got a call from Pandemic Cobourg and they gave me the all clear. That was less than 48 hours. Trust me. You can’t beat that. So I give NHH and their team a full 5 star rating for my experience. This experience has brought a paradigm shift in my mindset from being very nervous going in to a COVID assessment centre to being reassured and trusting with the measures in place at NHH. So my sincere thank you to all the front line workers at NHH for their service and sacrifice to help those who need them. God bless.

By far the worst hospital I have ever been to. If they are going to have patients in the emerg, waiting for 5-8 hours plus, maybe inform them of the wait time and have the triage nurse give out an asperin at the very least. People are here because they need medical attention, not because they have nothing to do. The fire alarm rang for over 15 minutes strait. Either evacuate people or shut the alarm off. The staff was very unfriendly and disorganized. I can't say anything good about this hospital and would avoid it at all costs.

I was lucky enough to have my baby at this hospital! Dr.Awad, Dr.Banard-Thompson, every single nurse in the birthing suites and other care members we encountered were absolutely amazing. With a complicated pregnancy which turned into an emergency c section, my family couldn’t have been in better care. If you’re looking for an OB, Dr. Awad and his team are THE best! Highly recommended!

This hospital is fully staffed by cabbages. If you're in you're winter years, it's a comfortable place to die. If you think you're gonna pull through, go to Peterborough instead maybe.

Worst hospital in Ontario, 6 hour wait for my 4 year old and pregnant wife. Disgrace to the health care system.

My expérience here was amazing thanks to the wonderful nurses. Very caring and helpful. Made the usually scary hospital expérience relaxing. Thank you

Nurses (with the exception of one) - are completely RUDE! The nurses just sit around and gossip about non-work related matters (for hours) rather than checking on their patients. It’s like pulling teeth to get a nurse to speak to you. I went up multiple time to check out my status - and felt like I was a constant bother to their social gathering. I’ve had a pleasant experience with an emergency doctor in the past. However, the the doctor I had this time - she was completely rude, lacked empathy, and didn’t even care to ask my name - like I was just a number. I came in - when there were reported two patients in front of me. Five and half hours later - till I saw a doctor. Are you kidding me! I have never been so embarrassed to have such an unprofessional, dysfunctional and disorganized community of doctors and nurses work in this community hospital.

I had an emergency today. The reception was very hospitable and polite with protocol, the wait was normal, the triage was clear and thorough and I was informed of the waiting time. The cleaning and desinfecting teams were discrete and very active. They have a lot of merits, we need them.( A+ ) I went through another section for exam, questioning, waiting for analysis results and report from a doctor. I left with a prescription and explanations to my follow up with my gp. I was reassured and I am thankful to all. You cannot ask for any better. They even waved at me when I left.

"We PROMISE you'll get an MRI before midnight". This was four days ago. They then told us "Well, the radiologist is off on weekends, you should be in by Wednesday at the latest". They just called - February 20th (18 days later).. WHAT A JOKE. They have NO idea what is wrong and really don't seem to care.
