Where my Downs Syndrome son had his heart surgery at 6mos of age. After he was done his surgery, he had double pnuemonia. The nurses were unbelievable, would not leave his side for a second. Thank you for all your help and dedication to my son 16 years ago.

All in all, the doctors and nurses are very helpful and knowledgable. The only things I could possibly speak to negatively are that there is never enough doctors available in Emergency Care (even the pediatric side), mentally ill patients are put in the same waiting rooms as other patients, and the doctors take forever to speak to you once you're past the waiting room and in a patient room. We brought our son in an ambulance through Emerge for a febrile seizure and very high temperature. It took 9 hours to see a doctor and 11 hours to get out of there... so we were from the ambulance, waiting in the waiting room for about 8 hours, brought back and then another hour before a doctor saw him. During this time, there weren't enough nurses even to keep up with the amazing amount of children in the waiting room. My son didn't get tylenol or motrin quickly enough because the nurses had other children they had to rotate to get them medicine too. Another thing I would say, is if you're a pregnant lady with an issue prior to the 16 week mark, the nurses are horrendous to you. They constantly remind you that there is "nothing you can do at this stage in pregnancy to save the baby" and they make you feel terrible for "wasting [their] time". I was appalled at the way I was treated when I was bleeding unusually and went in to be checked on at 15 weeks pregnant. The nurse was the WORST nurse you could get while you're worrying for your baby. But after the 16 week mark, they allow you upstairs in the triage for pregnant women and they are so kind to you! It's like night and day. Another time I was in there for a chemical burn on my wrist. I was seated in a waiting room with a clearly disgruntled mentally ill patient because there weren't enough hospice beds for the mentally ill in the hospital. After him pacing back and forth multiple times, and harassing the nurses, he was time and time again placed back into the waiting room with the rest of us. I am sympathetic to mentally ill patients, I myself struggled with depression... but if someone is THAT irate, you should not be plopping him in with other patients in the waiting room--regardless of short-staffing or hospice beds. That was just plain unsafe! Otherwise, there are amazing staff and they are federally funded so they unfortunately cannot do anything about short-staffing. It's a shame because that is probably why the care in the hospital is going down hill. The healthcare system isn't being funded enough and you'll often run into these problems here in London. There are some amazing staff that would give anything for more funding so that patients are cared for better, and I feel awful that they endure the brunt of it all with complaints etc. However, I also see how some of the staff are bitter now because of it & honestly, if you don't want to be kind, don't work in a field where people's lives are in your hands.

I had internal brachytherapy for cervical cancer done here. It was done by Dr. David D'Souza. Him and his team were amazing! I stayed 2 separate times in the hospital for my procedure. The nurses were amazing!

Vaccines are for winners

They called for a code blue in one room so many times, i had plenty of time to google what a code blue was, and to form the opinion that if you're going to call a code blue, maybe make it specific to a doctor, otherwise nobody shows up. It's like calling for a cart cleanup without mentioning a specific stock clerk. They just keep calling and calling and calling, and those carts keep dying. Other than that, some of the staff were great, some were so useless that it makes you want to vote conservative. I wonder if Tommy D knew it would be like this...

UWO Department of Dentistry Organization: London Health Sciences Centre University Hospital : Once you get into an examination room, the doctors try their best. BUT DO NOT MAKE PLANS FOR AFTER YOUR TREATMENT BECAUSE YOU CAN GET BUMPED IF AN EMERGENCY CASE COMES IN. I have been booked in twice for a tooth extraction that were cancelled. I had plans for out of town jobs after my appointment that had to be rebooked, thereby loosing work and wages. With no apology and a rude receptionist stating "it's our policy" really make you feel let down and wronged. Then had to pay for the privilege of being bumped. Do not book anything except for emergencies the UWO for dental. Long long wait times and no guarantee of your appointment being kept and the same price as private dentistry, it sucks. Good luck and go private care.

So today was my first time using the females washroom in several years. I have to say i was very appalled. There were things taped together the toilet seats were filthy to where you couldnt even sit on the toilets and the washroom also stunk of urine. The experience in the wait room was fine. They called me to the back right away, where there was literally more doctors then nurses. Which was a first. I was in and out with my perscription. Whiich i liked. But seriously do something about the washrooms in the emergency waiting room. They are really gross

Employees have zero reading comprehension skills and prone to knee jerk reactions. Can't imagine having somebody like that working in health care, and the fact the company allows that sort of behavior from employees is shocking. Be very wary of going here.

Carolyn Tomkins

Extremely friendly staff. Had a great experience with admin, radiology and ultrasound technicians and even students learning. ER wait times are fine when you consider priority. Leave extra time to find where you need to go for appointments or visits.

I am so greatful and thankful I was born in London, ON and grew up here. This city is full of such wonderful, intelligent and helpful people! The London Health Science Center is the epicenter of greatness! Doctors & nurses that go above & beyond to make incredible life-saving efforts & decisions - not too uncommonly, innovative world-changing ones! From minor surgeries to life-saving ones, the LHSC helps improve peoples quality of life, extend life, and give new life! The ER is so well run, we are lucky here in London! I have been blessed with good health, experienced my fair-share of injuries, but thankfully I was in the hands of such skilled, caring & experienced people! I had a spontaneous-pneumothorax last year and could have died but the nurses and doctors helped save me and bring my health back quickly. I had two surgeries and am thankful to be able to get back to regular life!

Rapid Access Clinic for Low Back Pain - is a far cry from Rapid. Communicating with them is difficult as they don't answer their phone and when they call back they don't leave a message. I was told to book my second appt. 6 weeks later as well. I was pretty much immobile at the time and was informed by my family Dr. that OHIP doesn't cover back X-rays anymore and that this was the fastest way to get an X-ray of my back and treatment after an initial assessment, for which I was referred by my Chiropractor. I ended up finding a local Chiropractor with imaging. In less than 2 days I had a diagnosis (Scoliosis) and started treatment immediately and I can now walk much better. If you have back issues - get an X-ray first to see what the problem is. He charged me $75 for the X-ray - it was worth it. Good luck!

it's a sad day in London Ontario Canada, This facility does not actually attempt to treat its patients, they only try to get you to leave ASAP so they can go on Lunch or do some other leisure activities. I went here with a perforated GI tract, somewhere in my large intestine and they failed to diagnose it, and now I will die from Sepsis and Peritonitis in my room alone, I tried both Hospitals in London as well, neither of them will help me. I can't afford to go anywhere else to get the surgery so I guess I just die? This hospitals goal is to depopulate the planet, and avoid assisting people, and just telling them they will be okay when they're clearly dying.

A medical hell for the mentally ill. Now they have lost my patient data and I get email spam from the addresses of the nurses. Glen Kearns was warned a few years ago this could happen and did nothing now data is lost and they have no idea what is going on because it is in the U.S. Are you getting spammed from hospital mail addresses? I wonder what other data was taken. We will likely never know till we lose our identities.

Came here back in October for a seizure, it was a terrifying time and the paramedics were lovely but I was aggressively grabbed and told to stop faking the seizure that had been going on for nearly 3 hours by a nurse that wouldn't stop loudly accusing me of being on crystal meth and faking it for opioids. After that I was left in a hallway for hours until it passed, the doctors shrugged me off and sent me home. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth for this facility

Nurses are amazing, the doctors are great, mental health is slightly lacking sometimes, but otherwise good. Big complaint, the cafeteria. The food is so dry its not edible, and the places are rarely open. Stuck with a donut or a dry piece of pizza. Drinks are barely cold too. Hospital is amazing, cafeteria, not so much. Go elsewhere

They saved my life literally. I had flat lined and they coxed me back to life. 35 broken bones, broken neck in 3 spots. cracked skull with damage to all four sides of the brain. I crushed my right rib cage with 20 rib fractures, puncturing my lung, and cutting my kidney and spline.. I could go on but you get the idea. They saved my life. Many have said you must thank god every day and I always say "no, I thank the great ambulance drivers, attendants, surgeons and nurses at Victoria hospital".

On March 28 when I gave birth to my son I was violently ill the following 2 days. The MBCU nurses were great, and all felt so bad for me but couldn't prescribe me anything because the horrible doctors above them didn't want to provide me anything. My support person wasnt even allowed to leave to get me anything from the drug store due to covid restrictions. I felt like a prisoner in that hospital and after just having a baby I could not have been in any more physical distress.. Honestly what should have been the happiest time of my life was one of the most awful. I feel like I was robbed of those precious first few days with my baby boy because of the lack of care from the doctors I literally had to BEG to help me and still got nothing. Most vulnerable and horrible experience of my life when it should have been the opposite. Give your head a shake.

Our experience is with the Cancer Clinic side, the doctors nurses and staff are caring and incredible, they know what people are going through and are very confident in what they do. They take a lot of responsibility off your shoulders and and are coordinated, I am very thankful they are here, or my wife wouldn't be now. They are to be proud of, and represent the health system Ian

The HR department is a very unprofessional and unsupportive group of people that do very little except try to intimidate. They should be ashamed of themselves. They have very little to add to the organization.

Dr Paul Woods is a joke. If he doesn't believe in the policies in place, speak out against them instead of breaking them and asking to be forgiven. You are not forgiven.

Took care of a family member while critically ill. The nurses in Children's Oncology are simply amazing. No words can describe the enthusiasm and drive those women (and men) have. It made the experience more bearable for the entire family. Thank you Renee and Dr. Cairney!!!!

Was brought here in a paddy wagon to a back entrance and my legs were pulled apart and I was strapped to a gurney with all my limbs tied down and left unattended in the psychiatric emergency room locked room for 9 hours put on form and locked in the hospital for over 30 days. At times was so hungry I screamed for food and was denied. Was given mesh underwear and scrubs to wear for 30 days under surveillance with nothing to do but share a tv room with a guy who farted so bad I would go lay in bed and stare at the camera above my head. I went to their emergency room to get medication that is classified as a narcotic as 20 of myonthly supply went missing. I waited ten hours to find out there was nothing they could do and they offered me to sleep in their waiting room at 4am until the bus started again. As I waited for my interview I fell asleep in a chair and prayed I didn't fall over. Edited Update: have realized the Staff have dealt, also I have matured, I am 36 now as part of the 36 - 70 group. The staff have seen my situation before or something similar and the care is excellent! I understand they don't admit people who can do things on their own they are sent home .Fair. You want to use your health care when needed only .the only thing is patients can get angry on any floor or crazy and take it out on the nearest person .Something to watch for.

Terrible experience here. My 12 year old brother came in because he had a tumour in his stomach and was flown from Sudbury to London for the child inpatient section. He was diagnosed with type 3 B-Cell lymphoma, Dr.Gibson was an amazing doctor and was super patient with my little brother and his parents who had tons of questions. He walked us through everything and made sure we clearly understood what was going on. He was a pleasant guy, but I can't say the same for the nurses. My brother (who had cancer) complained about nurses being rude to him like Kim telling him he should wear clothes (mind you, this cancer makes him warm and he gets overheated, but also it's not her place to say anything). He had several nurses telling him to do different things, so they were all contradicting one another, confusing the kid. Now, we had a huge issue with the nurses that needs to be addressed; the EXCLAMATION MARK. The exclamation mark is a paper hung on patients doors if they are deemed a threat or dangerous to nurses AND they refuse to wear a purple armband. One night, my little brother was in the bathroom when a nurse tried walking in on him because his monitor was beeping (a med had just run out). Our dad felt the need to interveen because the nurse wasn't understanding that my little brother was actually using the bathroom and needed a minute before anyone could go in, or he could come out. The nurse was very upset with our dad standing in her way on the door, not letting her go into the bathroom. My dad told the nurse if my little brother was okay with it, my dad could go in, or my brother could push out the pole so the nurse could get to it without her going into the bathroom and violating his privacy, or she could wait a moment for him to come out. She said that those options weren't okay and that she's worked as a nurse for over 30 years and knew what she was doing. To which our dad told her she would have to get through him first. She took that way too hard because the next day, there appeard an exclamation mark. We looked up what this meant and found out it's to LABEL patients for being aggressive or a threat to nurses. Mind you, my 12 year old brother with cancer did nothing wrong. He simply didn't want a nurse going into the bathroom while his pants were down. That's not too much to ask. No matter how old he is. Furthermore, I would like to point out if the genders were reversed, meaning it was a male nurse trying to walk in on a teenage girl in the bathroom, hell would have been let loose. We tried taking down the exclamation mark because it was absurd, but we were threatened to be removed from the hospital. It got to the point that they were sending it two nurses in at a time for their safety. The nurses demeanour changed so quick, they came off as nervous and uneasy, almost scared to be in our room. We had to arrange a meeting with the director or the children's hospital section because our dad was given a letter stating that if the exclamation mark was removed again, security could be called and he could be removed an no longer welcome to the hospital, she said the only thing we could do is appeal the exclamation mark (which could take months, we didn't have months). As it turns out , we knew more about the exclamation mark than she did. Unbelievable, nothing came of that meeting other than we got to meet a really cool and helpful patient relations girl who helped us get rid of it, because as it turns out, the exclamation mark is ONLY supposed to be for the patient (though they issued it for our dad), and it was only supposed to be put up for the visit of said incident, but we had been in and out of the hospital due to complications with my brothers cancer, and that exclamation mark popped up every time we were signed in again. The nurses humiliated my brother and made his stay awful. He was embarrassed and anyone (including visitors!) Were very skeptical about going into his room. All because a nurse didn't like what our dad had to say about her walking into the bathroom. I won't be surprised if they get a lawsuit.

I was in the Emergency Department at Victoria Campus last night Oct. 5th, 2021. From the Paramedics that brought me in to every person that had a hand in my care were amazing! Thank you so much for all your hard work, kindness and dedication to your patients! I had a situation that was handled with so much respect and kindness I will never forget that! A special thank you to Dr. Sam Lambert and Nurse Fiona for making me feel so cared for! I was so lucky to have you in my life last night! It was a very difficult night for me and you made me feel so comfortable even when it wasn't a comfortable situation. Thank you for the sacrifices you all make on a daily basis to take care of us your patients! You are the best!

I went there in super stressed cause my 3 year old was unwell, lethargic with concerns of Covid symptoms. I was so apprehensive as it was my first time at a hospital in Canada. The Paediatric unit there was just wonderful. All the staff there treated us with utmost respect and kindness. They were great with my child and I’m so grateful to them for what they do. Especially the medical intern Montana, thank you for being so patient and friendly to me and my child. These are hard times and I never take kindness for granted. Thank you to the team there for the excellent timely service. There was barely any wait time and they did have a steady inflow of patients.

Had problems with my pregnancy very early and came Into the ER to get checked out (as it was late at night and my doctors were closed) and when I got into the room the nurses were extremely disrespectful called me out and said I was wasting there time in here and that they don't approve of people coming in for such "minor" situations that could wait. Keep in mind this was about 3 weeks into pregnancy and I have having abnormal cramping and bleeding. So they took blood work and were all huffy and puffy about it and told me to go wait in the waiting room for my results. 4 hours passed and I went up to the desk and said "I understand you may be busy but is there anyway you could just call me with the results" and the stood up and yelled through the glass "oh what for your PREGNANCY?" And then I said yes but please keep it down as there was someone I knew in the waiting room and she proceeds to announce "we cannot give your PREGNANCY results over the phone you need to keep waiting" needless to say we left right after and the person I knew found out and told my whole town (I'm from a very small town) and I ended up losing my job over it. And it wasn't just that time anytime I go in there theres very very rude nurses, if you don't like your job leave!

If this hospital is supposed to be so great, then how could they have misdiagnosed my adoptive mother, sent her home, and then failed to follow up, ultimately resulting in her death? My mother had multiple blood clots, and supposedly they failed to notice the clots on the scans until after they had discharged her, which, okay, I can understand. What I can't understand is how they failed to call us to have her readmitted, for over 24 hours. My mother died 28 hours after she was discharged, because of something that should have been treatable. I will never, ever forgive this hospital for what they did to my family. If I could give a lower rating, I would, because now my father and I are stuck picking up the pieces and trying to make things as easy as possible for my younger sister, who's only eight. Does anyone even know how hard it is to explain to an eight year that her mother, who had been fine 3 days before, was now dead, and would never come home again?

A Person

Although the nurses, doctor, and staff on the 4th floor antenatal program, NICU, etc did a truly AMAZING job with the birth and aftercare of our young daughter as well as the care of my spouse when her water broke early (they deserve 10 out of 5 stars for their undying effort), the mental health support system at this hospital has utterly failed us. My partner was misdiagnosed and discharged despite very apparent symptoms of post partem psychosis. Prior to discharge she was given one brief 15 minute visit with a student resident psych and provided a poorly prescribed antidepressant that merely made matters and her mental well being much worse. She was not given any follow up since then and was left in my hands with no direction of aftercare or warning signs. When the medication was clearly making the effects worse I took her in to lhsc emerge, only to be dismissed and turned away with an appointment for her to meet with a counselor in two weeks after this. This hospital desperately needs to improve their efforts of mental health and proper diagnosis before releasing a patient (especially one who had an emergency c section 48hrs prior). I would not wish this nightmare upon anybody.

My son was born here and we had an over all great experience. If we were to have another, Id certainly use LHSC again.

I was chronically disabled by Dr. Joe Armstrong who is the department head of the Oral and Maxillofacial department at University Hospital. He abandoned me, and left me in significant pain that has made me suicidal. He completely ruined my life. Patient relations and Dr. Shawn Steele wasted my time with a pathetic and alarmingly non-transparent "investigation". I have escalated this to Dr. Paul Woods so let's see what happens. I have audio recordings of Dr. Joe Armstrong making disgusting and egregious comments which I believe have discriminatory undertones such as "I know what people like you are after" and that I am not happy because "I put on weight". These microagressions have no place in health care and its a shame that these behaviours go unchecked. I am hoping that Dr. Woods looks into my complaint, and conducts a fair investigation. If not, I will be forced to go to the media and share these audio recordings.

The emergency room nurse who came in to my child's room who did not introduce herself and who did not even look at us said "you guys are welcome to leave" as she is pushing the door open, and then walks out. The tone was clearly we don't want you here and you can leave. She seemed to think that she was cute saying that. We waited for instructions from the appropriate professional before we left and as we are leaving the same nurse said "Thank you" with the same disrespectful tone. My child was in the ER because of mental health issues and this nurse is either very ignorant about such matters, or simply very uncaring. In any case, I think she is welcome to leave the emergency department. The work should be given to nurses who are qualified and suitable and who respect and communicate with patients and their family,

Went to start my induction on the 7th and it took 7houra just to get the balloon catheter then wa supposed to be induced on the 8th and I’m still waiting for a call back to get induced almost a week later I was #4 in line on the call list on my way to #2 the lady told me and the next day I was #5 and now #6. I had the best experience in this hospital as I went in fairly quickly for nasal sarcoma surgery. Taken care by Dr MacNeil team and her residents was superb. The doctors and nurses worked well together (a little hierarchy but it comes with the territory) The nurses responded well to meet my needs before I knew what I needed. Ivette was wonderful and the two night nurses too ( student Sarah?? ) I think and the RN who was teaching her. Well done to all of you! Keep it up PS. I work in another hospital so I am very pleased how I was treated. Hopefully management will notify these amazing people of a job well done.

Horrible experience of my pregnancy. I am healthy with no preexisting condition. The doctors gave wrong epidural, I was in immense pain for more than 5 hours even after taking epidural, informed every nurse and doctor - no help. Doctors waited for the worse situation and then said no option left other than forceps delivery with 4th degree. they did blood transfusion as I lost a lot of blood. They had more than enough time but waited for the situation to get worse. I got the worst treatment. Pathetic service with no empathy at all. I never recommend this hospital. Wish healthcare improves here.

My daughter was born here on March 6th. We had been in and out a few times prior due to some complications and every visit we were treated amazingly. The OB/Gyn staff were very forward and willing to discuss the situation with us as it was happening. My girlfriend spent the better part of a week in the Ante-Natal ward at 35 weeks where they got a nasty UTI under control and killed. She was referred to Urology at the same hospital, and seen fast. They stopped her from going into pre-term labour twice. During the labour scare at 35 weeks, she had a resident and nurse with her the entire time. Because they managed to get her to 39 weeks before my baby girl was born, we got to have our midwives do the delivery. There was decelerations right before delivery, the NICU staff arrived minutes after she was born, even though they had stabilized. The anesthesiologist came in and did the epidural within 30 minutes of us asking, was fast, efficient, and safe about the procedure. The jetted tub was amazing for her to labour in, and the room was spacious and well equipped for mom and dad. They transferred her to the mother baby care unit, where my daughter got a security bracelet. All the babies get this, and it locks the floor down and police arrive within minutes of the alarm going off (a nurse accidentally set it off, we seen it in action) All the staff were amazing, including the ImPark people, who suggested I purchase a 7 day pass (which is based on hours) which saved us a TON of money in the long run. This is by far the best hospital I have ever been to. Having the Tim Hortons helped too for the long labour, total bonus.

It was a terrible experience. The staff would pick on you for taking up their time. They wouldn't understand the pain I was in even with all the bruises on my body from the car accident. They would make assumptions and talk as if I can't hear the rude and hateful words they speak. I am very disappointed with the service. The wait was even worse. We waited. Approx. 5 hours until they found me a bed. They also had me in a very large neck brace saying that it is supportive when it was digging through my skin and making my pain unbearable. I wouldn't mind the wait as much, but the way they handled the situation was beyond embarrassing. It really was the worst experience. They even lost my shoes, and I had to beg them for some socks. I wasn't treated like a patient should have been treated. Please control your manners and understand that the only reason I want to go to the hospital is to relieve the pain.

The fact there is many bathrooms in londons only childrens hospital and with no change tables is ridiculous. There isnt even any on the first floor of the pediatric area. And there is one in the pediatric area but there should definitely be more. The staff ate great often though. The fact in a city the size of london there is only one hospital for children is also not acceptable but not this hospital fault more of a city problem.

I was made to feel like family... I love them all... My operation lasted 10 hrs and 30 minutes..... my family had updates regularly to ease tensions.... I love this group of professionals....

I've heard nightmare stories of ex housekeeping employees, and how this place isn't sanitized correctly. Ew! Poorly trained housekeeping staff. How does a hospital let this go on?

Dr Ryan Arbeau was absolutely wonderful with my mother. Everyone wanted to brush her off and not take what She said seriously except for this wonderful man. He went above and beyond what most would do and advocated for her. Very impressed with the services he provided her and his friendly and helpful bedside manner.

David Cavanaugh

Nice that london has such a experienced hospital. Very busy always. Always seem to have many police and security there. Often worried about safety. Patients often lying down on benches.

George Whittal

All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Many trips and never a bad experience

Joanne Morgan

Unmanned help desk and a poorly photocopied map made for a very difficult start to day surgery. The hospital staff were very attentive and caring.

If you have a heart attack beside this hospital go to a different on waited 6 hour when there was only 5 people in front of us... the whole staff should be embarrassed by their work ethic.... truly ashamed to be Canadian right now

This hospital is the worse for dental health I had brought my daughter there because she had tried committing suicide she had pop 20 pills and she also was cutting and everything I was at three different hospitals every single one of them turned away this was my last resort to bring her to London health sciences centre she literally told them that she not feel safe going home and she would kill herself if she went home they released her I am so angry with this place that my daughter is begging for help and nobody wants to help her and pretty soon it’s going to be too late and I don’t know what to do as a parent if I can’t even turn to my local hospital for help this is BS and something needs to be done about it this is not right and if my daughter does commit suicide I am suing you guys because I’ve had enough

I am not very happy with the way the nurses treat the people that come in they talk down to people I just left there tonight after waiting 10 hours in emerg to see a doctor so I left and got no help tonight I am not very happy with this hospital at all will never go back again unless I'm dieing

Michelle Ebertt

Honestly the front nurses in the er, the triage nurse, the er nurse and the doctor I have had tonight have been amazing. These wonderful people have been so patient and kind to people. I've heard them get yelled at,and sworn at but remained calm. 100% great care.
