Really great clean hospital. Have to press the elevator button really well, though, to get it to work. Oh well.

Worst hospital service. And all mobile Service is blocked in and around the hospital because of DND that occupies part of the upper floors. Add to this that some of the workers are indifferent and sometimes downright rude if you do not speak French. They rush you. Make you agree to things with a signature but don't give u a copy. And if u ask to take a pic of what you've signed they flash it at u as your taking a pic so that the shot gets missed. A while ago my best friend was rushed to this hospital. I was his only contact and I asked the doctor what was being done and the female Dr. refused to answer me and snapped back at me that if I'm not family I should get out. And the worst part is that all mobile Service is blocked inside the hospital. I tried to find out why and was finally told DND (Dept of Nat'l Defense) is responsible for the block of all mobile Service at the site. I tried moving to the front of the bldg and still no service. Had to drive completely out of the hospital to get service. So if a relative dies.. or the hospital does something wrong you cannot communicate that from the hospital site. Does anyone else not see that this is a censorship and violates our rights???? Or is everyone in Ottawa so complacent that they just don't care.

Got injured at work and the care here was exceptional, fast and friendly nurses/doctors. I ended up needing 6 stitches and it went v well. My entire stay wasnt longer than 2hrs.

Tetiana Shekhovtsova

I saw a nurse in a triage room sneeze without covering her mouth 3 times overall, I think. It is important to stay healthy for all people and avoid doing that in an emergency department, please. Moreover, I have been discharged from hospital earlier this morning, after waiting for a check-up by the doctor for more than 12 hours straight, overnight ????

Louise Wilkinson

This hospital does not make sense. My sister is supposed to be having day surgery and was just informed that she is being admitted ...

Anatol LaScarf

If you come to the hospital at the round-about please take notes of this. If you block the bus lane and leave your car unattended, you "will" be given a ticket. If you park your car on a fire-route and leave your car unattended you "can" receive a ticket. What's most important in this is that the bus lane does not get blocked and that you don't interfere with the round-about traffic. That being said if you want to wait but not park in a visitor parking lot, you can go anywhere around the hospital as long as you're out of the way. Hope this helps.

(Translated) Much progress has been made since my last hospitalization in 2016. Today, in 2019, I find nurses who are more attentive to patients' needs and who show more compassion. Active listening and follow-up by the managers is highly appreciated. I was operated on both knees the same day, I do not regret having made this decision. Thank you very much to Dr. Fleuriau-Château and his team! Thank you very much to the nurses! Thank you very much to the physiotherapy and occupational therapy team! Thanks to the attendants and attendants! Although there is still room for improvement, I admit that between 2016 and 2019 the Montfort Hospital made great progress. Extremely lone waiting time. Very disappointing doctors and nurses! Since it's an emergency room, no one but patients are hurry!

We had our first child at Montfort in June. It was a difficult birth and we ended up staying for 4 days. Every staff we interacted with over our stay were absolutely amazing. I don't have much experience at other hospitals but I can't see anyone topping the level of care we received at Montfort. If we have another child we will 100% be returning. You guys are rockstars.

The doctors and nurses are so compassionate and understanding. I like this hospital because they take mental illnesses seriously and always treated me as best they could and made me comfortable - they saved my life.

my mother was mistreated, drugged, and humiliated beyond comprehension. worst hospital ever. super upset with how they treated my mother, nobody should be drugged on pain killers and asked to do tasks beyond their physical limits. NEVER leave your loved ones alone in this hospital, especially if you're a minority. absolutely terrible place to call a hospital, doctors would give more pain killers and rush you out the door before their patients can tell you what happened. they call you a liar and dismiss you before you get a chance to ask them anything like they don't care about you at all. even the nurses felt bad, but you could tell they were too scared to do anything about it.

Nicolas Saumure

Great hospital if you speak French. Bilingual. Mom stayed there a while and received great service. Would recommend to anyone

Ben Jean

Good hospital with very interesting demographics. It is the only francophone hospital on the Ontario side close to the Quebec border so it is very busy with people crossing the border not to wait 24++ hours at the ER in Gatineau, so it is normal sometimes to see longer waiting times. All and all, hospitals in Canada and Ontario are not Estate properties or hotels like in the US, they are functional establishments with very tight budgets. (I don't work in the industry, just travelled lots and appreciative)

This is a pretty big hospital then it actually looks like! A close family ember of mine just had a baby here. The staff are very kind and extremely helpful. The place is very clean and not infested with anything. I do realise they are understaffed but they are well controlled for that since they may get overworked. I would recommend this play to anyone with any medical problem. I forgot to add, parking is cheap!!

Poor service ever had for emergency services.

FairFact Critic

Worst admin staff in emergency department. Poor service, my visit to this emergency department made me feel like I am somewhere in third world. This is absolutely big waste of taxpayers money. Hospitals in some of the poorest countries has much better care than here. I notified lady in room 2 several time that I have increased level of pain but she kept ignoring. Waited 9.5 hours to see doctor still not seen one. Iam in doubt do they even present the case to doctor. This night shift adim staff in room 2 should be in immediate fire list. Ontario health ministry should revoked their license. Doesn't deserves our hard earned money.

Always have been very happy with the service and care received at the Montfort hospital. I've had to use the Montfort hospital service on 3 or 4 occasions. Each time I was treated with respect and professionalism with the doctors and service staff. Highly recommended.

(Translated) The nurses, doctor (Dr Chrisopher Fabian) and administrative staff were very polite and patient during the whole process. The doctor had me do several tests the same day to finally find what I had. (Translated) The operative care is good. But it's virtually impossible to talk to anyone on the phone to get an appointment for follow-up. After a few days, they return the call, to tell me that I must go through my family doctor to see the surgeon who had operated on me. The medical care itself is good. But it is impossible to get anyone on the phone to make a post-surgical follow-up appointment. After several calls, when they finally called me back, I was told that I had to go back to my family. Pathetically bureaucratic! I stopped my donations to the hospital. (Original) Les soins opératoires sont bons. I had a good experience on a Sunday night at the emergency room. Everyone was nice and attentive, I waited about 2,5h to see a doctor. The doctor (nurse practitioner) took a lot of time to explain me everything and took me serious, even though there wasn't anything seriously wrong with me. The only thing I didn't like was that a guy in the waiting room was bleeding a lot and nobody cleaned up the floor even after an hour.

Sarah LeBoutillier

Daniel Langlois

The waiting time is often twice what was advertised in the Triage when the patient is an elderly. With the Flu season, the waiting room becomes a Flu incubation room, more effective for old people, even if you got your Flu shot... Me and my father got sicker after visiting the hospital in the last few days. Sounds like it is the people not affected by the Flu who should get their mask on... I noticed after people leave their beds there is no disinfection team in the emergency area.

Mohammed Abd

My wife contractid covid-19 and she required medical attention. She was admitted to the ICU where she spent 5 days, she was extremely satisfied with the care she had at the hospital. Doctors, nurses and everything.

Bradley Bulger

This is an amazing hospital. My nana has had seizures and they helped her stop the seizures. Well... after she had 36 of them. They did take great care of her. But! If you ever have an emergency stay away from the walk in emergency at this hospital. They have unreliable communication with one another. They don’t have any self respect, they don’t respect other and a few literally expect you to speak French. I will never go back there. I would rather travel 3 hours to the Peterborough hospital from Ottawa than the Montfort..

Tammy Csicso

I was there last night 5 hours waiting and still 6 people infront of me My injuries needed care right away Nobody took me seriously I left went to urgent Care in Orleans From there they sent me back to the hospital as my injuries got significantly worse and there for I need plastic surgery I mentioned that to the front person he said we are busy sometimes I said I understand that but because u guys didn't think it was serious enough now I need surgery and loose out on work I will be making a complaint this has to stop !!!!!!!!

Kimberly Ann

Have been to the ER several times over the past year or so, with family members and have witnessed repeatedly, the kind, efficient, bilingual and expert care extended to patients the moment they walk through the door. Security is present and visible, keeping the waiting rooms quiet and safe for those in distress. Merci Montfort. Well done - thank you.

CHERYL HERBERT

It is a hit and miss situation. Not good in a hospital. Doctors once you see them are stellar. Intake psw are nightmares. Some nurses remind you of a Steven king novel.without feedback doctors are over worked. It is usually the system Let them know.i have horrible stories about this hospital. Ii also habe. Amazing doctors. Ratio wise the hospital ranks poorly. Good docs. .

Lavigne Collection

Terrible experience... total of 9 phone calls to track down paper work they "didnt have" for a very important surgery. Total breakdown of communication from one department to another. Very rude and unprofessional floor management for rooms. However, after four days of locating the paperwork and processing it, I finally got the needed surgery. But I will say that the surgeon and the OR staff and the 3 nurses I had, were all very professional, and courteous. They provided excellent care. Management however, and the ER staff, were rude, argumentive and very unprofessional. Those are the people who give this hospital it's negative reputation. In addition, 10 hours in agony in a waiting room without any assistance is not only cruel but incompetent..I've had better service for my dog at the veterinarians'. Our health-care system is on a very huge decline.. and.. our population is getting older and more in need.. God help us.. we'll need it!! Don't look for it at this place.. especially in the ER!

By far the worst hospital I have ever been too! I went to Montfort because was minutes from my house, although I knew it was a francophone hospital I thought all that meant was that to work there you had ro speak fluent French and they probably started in French rather than English. Though I grew up in Vancouver, I did all elementary in French immersion than challenged the college exam before grade 8. I am 100% bi lingual but refuse to speak French in Ottawa or the surrounding area(like hull, gatineau) because they refuse to speak English... hospital is tha last place I expected that to happen though. I got told by the actual doctor that "this is a Franco hopital" and maybe I should consider going elsewhere from now on!!! I have never been so blown away in my life!!! Thought all hospitals were for the sick and injured, regardless what language ispoke! P

Dave Reid

Good staff. But the wait time.....

Kevin Jones

Worst Hospital ever, my wife went in for a bladder surgery, the next day we had to rush her back in for complications for a Day surgery. Then two days later rushed her back in again because of an infection that was not supposed to happen according to them. We are writing a complaint letter to the board of directors. DO NOT GO THERE FOR TREATMENT

Sarah Kitney

Worst emergency room experience. 7 hour wait, hardly anyone in the waiting rooms. I am experiencing wave of pains so extreme I can barely walk, while people who come after me laughing in the waiting room are seen before me. I ask why, and a nurse says to be I haven’t waited long enough....I told her how much pain I am in and she tells me to ask for Tylenol from another nurse...they need to learn to triage. Just because a persons blood pressure is fine doesn’t mean they aren’t in excruciating pain. No reason when the waiting room is 1/4 full it should take 7 hours to see a doctor.

Went in for blood work and refused becsuse i had no x-rays? I had the request from my family doctor. Spoke mostly in french after i said i spoke english and was very rude muttering profanities in french. Just becsuse i don't speak french doesn't mean I can't understand. I was ready to lose it and almost did because of the pure judgmental and unproffessional attitude and mannerisms of the employee. I do not plan on ever going and would never recommend anyone visits for medical issues.

Nurses are rude and inconsiderate and Wait times are ridiculous.

Both of my sons were born at that hospital, and I have had surgery there (appendectomy for me). Every time I've been there my interactions with building and medical staff have been friendly and un-rushed. The building is generally bright and friendly and easy to navigate. During the births of our kids, my wife and I felt very looked after. We happened to end up with a private room for our first son and specifically requested one the second time because it was a good experience the first time. There was a large bathroom with a tub, a narrow pullout couch that I could grab a nap on (the first labour was a long one) and it was quiet. For my appendectomy, I had to spend some time waiting in emergency because it was a busy night, but my pain was taken seriously and I was moved to a bed as soon as it was appropriate given triage. The night emergency nurses were no-nonsense and I heard them being firm with some of the patients, but always kind. During follow-up in the weeks afterward, communication was clear and the surgeon took the time to walk me through my questions.

I would give this place a 0 if it were possible. Got brought there for a head injury from a bike accident. They just looked at it and said I was fine. couple months later, I find out from a school doctor that I have a severe concussion because I would get constent migraine, couldnt be in light rooms or around loud noises. ILuckely carleton is good with helping "sick" students or else I would have failed my semester. In addition, they cahrged me 360$ for the hospital stay that included me sitting on a bed and being misdiagnosed...They didnt even send the bill to me or called me, instead they gave it to a dbt collector that harrast me and this all affected my credit score. Horrible care and overall bad. Fix your administration and your doctors education.

I have slipped and fell on black ice around 9.45PM was taking to this hospital at 10.30PM by an ambulance to receive and X-Ray on my right leg which was done at 1.30AM and at the moment it’s 5AM still haven’t heard anything from a single person. When asked for time they say i have still a lot of people in front of me. There is only 10 people in the waiting rooms and no is getting called. Why is there only 1 doctor in the ER if the wait issue is something known about? There are literally hundreds of comments towards the 8-9 h waiting times and the hospital do nothing about it? There is only one triage open and doesn’t call anybody in at all. I don’t even know if my leg is broken or not while it is a simple task to solve I don’t mind waiting if the reason is explained but obviously I came in with an emergency vehicle who couldn’t understand if my leg is broken or not. They should care about their patiences a lot more. This is ridiculous...

Sophia D

The worst experience ever I had to wait more than 9 hours before getting help.

I was at this hospital yesterday. My mother suffered minor stroke symptoms however her blood pressure was through the roof at about 228/105. The paramedics didn't take us seriously, or show any concern. They didn't give her any medication or take any tests until the 4th time I asked. When we got there her bp lowered only because we were calming her down but it was still too high. They set us in the emergency area and left us there unattended for almost 3 hours. My family is comprised of nurses and lawyers so we acted quickly and showed them that we knew they were being negligent. In another family's situation, this could have gone very badly. If you need urgent care do not go to this hospital. They are unprofessional, uncaring, soulless imbeciles. Nurses and doctors provide care, they do not belittle you, cast you aside and give you no medical attention. I took names, I noted down what each nurse and doctor said, and others should take note to do the same. What a shameful establishment.

Ramat Nirmal W

This is a hospital that provide services to Canadian Forces. I'm preparing to file a law suit for negligence. The hospital has refused to comment since.

Went there for something serious and i was seen right away. Team of doctors and nurses were very friendly and helped me by taking the time to always check on me and make sure i was comfortable. I am English and everyone i dealt with had no problem speaking it while being friendly.

LittleMiss Peach

This is supposed to be one of the best hospitals in all of ottawa. I beg to differ. Ive been in this disgusting godforsaken place since 10:30pm and it is now past 5 am. In the emergency room.. there were only 7 people ahead of us and the nurse said it would take 3 hours or so. Bull. A few hours later (around 1am) i got up to ask how long itll be and he says 2-3 hours. At 4 i go to ask how long and there was literally NO NURSES ANYWHERE. I finally see someone who looks like a male nurse and ask him where the other nurses that are supposed to be in the office are and he says "i dont know, im sure theyll be back in a second" as he walked away. He didnt even bother to approach me as i spoke to him. And dont get me started on the nasty washrooms and spiders on the floor. Ew.

Gave birth to my son there. They refused to speak English to my husband that wasn't really fluent in French. The bagels and muffins were hard as rocks. Ask my husband constantly to go downstairs to Tim Hortons to buy me breakfast. I told the nurses there that I need to be on a certain pill and to contact my family doctor. They wouldn't listen to me nor would they called my family doctor. So I was in more pain than ever after a c-section. When leaving the hospital a person with the food trays hit me with the cart because they weren't paying atteatten. Overall not a great plays.

Joshua Wright

So far the best in the region that I've been to. Paid parking of course. There aer many nice volunteers throughout the hospital that help you find where you're going. Honestly without them it would be intimidating.

I realize that all of Ottawa’s hospitals are under-staffed and overworked; however, every time I’ve had to use Montfort’s emergency room (ER), it’s been a nightmare. For example, the 13 hours I waited with an asthma attack. But my experience this past Thursday night (February 28, 2019), is easily my worst experience in an ER. An ambulance took my mother from our doctor’s after-hours clinic due to their concern over extreme bleeding and pain that was off the scale. At Montfort, nobody would do more than take my mom’s heart rate and blood pressure before sending her to the waiting room. Mom was almost passing out from pain and the bleeding was steadily worsening. When I politely asked if she could be re-triaged, we were told it would be seven hours before a doctor would even examine my mom...and that she should “wait her turn.” No sympathy, empathy, or even an ounce of kindness for someone in agony. No “let us know if you feel worse.” Nothing. We ended up driving to Hawkesbury Hospital, where my mom was seen in 30 minutes by kind, concerned staff and had an ultrasound, urinalysis, and bloodwork, all within two hours. I don’t object so much to the wait...I object to the lack of kindness and empathy. Go somewhere else, folks.

Zero star hospital, very- very poor patient service especially emergency department while it’s night time, unprofessional personnel. Multiple Human Rights violations with mental health patients: 1) Held 17 hours no food or water. 2) Staff wearing very strong scented products, even when a patient has environmental sensitivities, which is covered by Canada's Human Rights. 3) Giving/adding unnecessary medications without informing the patient; this is actually illegal. 4) Taking blood from the INSIDE of the wrist without trying to find a vein anywhere else. 5) Failure to take vitals on patient with heart irregularity. 6) Nothing was done when a patient reported seeing a nurse stealing (There had been multiple thefts). 7) There is no method for testing a patient for Tramacet overdose, yet they state none was found by testing. Incompetent and/or liars! 8) And many more complaints, not just from one patient.

Came in on Fri w a ton bicep tendon I assume waited and waited told I was going to get an ultrasound waited some more... Then I get told sorry no ultrasound.. Going to schedule an MRI sometime this weekend... Well weekend is almost over not word... Feel like I was pushed under the rug... No info on work, medication, ability to move it... Not impressed

The staff was wonderful. The triage nurse was so patient with me and gave me the space I needed to have a quick anxiety cry. I have doctor related trauma and I very much appreciated that. The nurse that checked me in was also very kind, patient and friendly. The waiting rooms are comfortable and the wait was average. When I saw the doctor he listened to me and was very patient. I have been seeking care for symptoms I still have from a head injury I incurred a year and a half ago. During the doctors assessment I felt like I was being listened to and taken seriously the entire time. The doctor gave me a referral and a plan for moving forward in diagnosing my injury. I am very thankful that I went to the Montfort Hospital.

Even though the health system is pretty bad in Canada, this is by far THE WORSE hospital I've been in in Ottawa. I was in tremendous pain and all I got was Tylenol. Had trouble breathing and still I waited 8 hours to see a doctor. The WORSE

(Translated) The service seems determined in a significant proportion according to the age of the patient. Since the last 4 visits, I noted for the treatment of my grandfather a large difference between the waiting time announced at the triage center and the real waiting time (on average 2.5X more). When in addition we are told by the doctor that he does not see anything abnormal when there is blood in the salts, still visible on the diaper, we see that the level of care seems to be inspired by Quebec ... I arrived there and waited for around 6 hours however while i was there i saw how busy they are working there. It is not fair not to give 5 stars. In the end they were amazing and deserve more than 5 stars. Too many people to attend with not enough people working there. For sure they are doing more than they can.

One is treated with respect, charm and utter politeness. Always professional, knowledgeable advice and management. Spotlessly clean. Love the francophone environment and la politesse the French are known for. No hesitation in replying in English if French is limited. A very good hospital

I recently had surgery at the Montfort. Being an employee there for several years (37) I trusted the staff completely. From my pre admission with Madeleine to my reception with Nadine , Martha in day surgery,Marie Carmel in the or Corina and Mel in recovery room and Jude back in day surgery everyone was very professional. Big thank you to my surgeon Dr A Marshall and the anesthesiologist Dr Custeau ????.I felt no pain .Everything went smoothly from beginning to end. I would recommend this hospital in a heartbeat ????.

Delivered my first baby at this hospital and I cannot say enough good things! The staff in the family birthing unit are truly incredible. Their kindness, attention, and support during my labour and delivery made my first time memorable. I had a number of nurses helping me (Anna, Lise Anne and lots more) and each one was amazing at their job! My OB Dr Gravelle was also on shift that night and delivered my baby. She was fantastic at ensuring a smooth delivery with her expertise. Thank you to all the staff...we are SO grateful for your work!

I can't believe in a developed country we should wait 12 hours to get an emergency help !!!!!! After waiting 5 hours with no assistance we gave up and we want to go to another hospital and then a rude nurse told us with a very racist tone that she will cancel our chart and we should not request the ambulance again !!!! My spouse was having a very bad hyperventilation and hid heart beats were severely increasing and no one of this "trained" staff would even care !!! I wanted to check on him and they didn't gave me any information and kept me outside waiting under the rain for6 hours !!!

Piece & Quiet

My mom wasn't feeling well so we brought her to the Montfort on a Sunday morning - July 31, 2016. After some tests it appeared she was having liver and kidney readings that were not ideal. Monday afternoon at 3pm I saw the doctor and she said my mom may need to go on dialysis but was hoping she would improve so they didn't send her to the other Ottawa hospital that specialized in this. While I was there my mom was complaining about burning in her upper thigh/leg area. I told nurse we should check but she said it was likely the catheter irritating my mom. I said my mom is a tough cookie and she would not complain about such a thing. I left an hour later because she needed rest and my other sister went to visit after 8pm. The nurse at that time asked my sister if my mom bruised easily because she had bruising in the same area my mom mentioned the burning earlier on. My sister said no, within an hour and 15 minutes my sister was kicked out of the room and my mom at age 64 suddenly passed away. I rushed the hospital in shock - and nobody could tell me why she passed away. I called the hospital 5 or so days later and asked to speak to the doctor - apparently they had a meeting the next day and confirmed she had a random hemorrhage and some (they couldn't figure out which) blood vessel burst. She said - it was out of their hands. When I called the person that answered said nobody ever called to follow up like this before. I said well I have no idea what happened and nobody was polite enough to call us and tell us what may of happened. We should have asked for an autopsy but were too in shock to ask. This is the closest hospital to my families home so not only did my mother go here but my sister did earlier on as well and they messed up her routine procedure. First mothers day without my mom...perhaps telling the truth makes the pain feel go away just momentarily. I am not sure what really happened but I personally think something was overlooked...

Dr Duncan macleod office believes it is okay to call a 7 yrs old number and not reach anyone. Promise of health and help when they can only offer the brick wall they forcefully put in front of you so you could not get the help you have needed in 4 years of injury and pain. My will to live is now at its thinnest thanks to this renoun hospital.i was in line to get fixed for surgery when they though it was okay to leave me in the emergency room for another 24hrs while I am not sick and supposed to be admitted. Now I have to wait 2 more months for this self proclaimed doctor who likes to make sure people don't want to live anymore.

I visited this hospital today and have to say that all the staff were amazing! Everyone in operation/recovery rooms were so nice, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They took a very good care of me.

We pay taxes to be patronized by your incompetent staff?! An ear bleeding from inside for days is ABNORMAL! For you to have someone tell a patient that they should just go to a walk-in without even bothering to see what’s wrong is beyond what I could’ve ever imagined. I’m not letting this one go.

Samantha Rimes

Wonderful hospital. My father stayed for a hip replacement and the staff were nothing but kind and accommodating. I also delivered my son the same year and I couldn't praise the nurses more! My son has health issues and we had to stay for 5 days. I didn't live near the hospital so they allowed me to stay the entire time so I could be with my son even though they probably could have used my bed for another mother! My sister also delivered here and I will be delivering there again come October. Fantastic experiences all around.

You removed my previous review, which was well thought out and written it did not contain slander or malicious material. If you continue to do this I will speak to someone in the ethics department or file a complaint officially. I will aso contact some form of media news outlet, About how I was basically ignored and told my symptoms were wrong by the triage nurse, and how I was dismissed after saying i felt dizzy hands and feet numb and I was extremely tired. The only person who examined me at any point was a nurse. I was sent by telehealth and should not be made to feel like I did something wrong. I disclosed I had aspergers which makes it hard for me to advocate for myself and from that moment on I was estenially ignored. My doctor ran no tests. addressed my hand without touching it looking at it and completely dismissed me without talking about how I was so dizzy and tired or any of that told me I could go turned his backed and walked away. I saw him for 1 minute.

I've been at this hospital 2 times in the last month due to the flu. Wait times are inevitable and emergency does their best to get people in. BUT your experience will depend on the doctor who's working the night shift and the nursing staff. I was in last night and was told to take off my rubber gloves... Was asked why I would show up on a Friday night... and the doctor I seen was terrible... But when I was in a week ago another doctor I had seen was amazing. Showed he cared for what I was experiencing made me feel like I was being heard and honest to God given me advice and given me blood work and X Ray's to dig deep into my complaints. The nursing staff that work at the triage registering and administering the patience have always been amazing. The Doctor(s) on duty will either make or break your visit. So basically it all depends on whom the staff is

I went to emergency Waited 9 hours, the nurses give you no update, very bad service especially for visible minorities, they should know the hospital is open because of taxpayers of all Canadians not only French speaking ones.

Lina Barakat

Horrible care, horrible staff, horrible communication. My Grandmother was taken to the Monfort for mental health and an assessment and we have been trying to contact nursing staff for days. Nobody has been answering the phone. Not even the nursing manager. It's sickening. She is in the worst condition she has ever been and is not receiving the care she deserves. We have asked for updates and nurses have hung up the phone on us, have refused to give us their name and won't call back. We feel sick leaving here there and we want to transfer her but nobody will call us back. Worst hospital ever. I would not recommend even in a life threating situation. Take the extra time to drive to the general or riverside. This is the worst hospital. Further to my previous post, my family had sent my grandmother back to the emergency as she was suicidal and the doctors and staff found it appropriate to send her home. The next day she tried to commit suicide again. This hospital should be shut down. Pure negligence.

Two weeks ago I took a friend of mine to the ER. The service was excellent, fast, efficient professional, well organized, a real team work. From the moment we walked in my friend knew he was in good hands. Neither of us speak French, and that wasn't a problem at all, the staff was caring and friendly Congratulations to the nurses , doctors, medical students, and the rest of the ER staff !!

I went in for an endoscopy. It was all pretty good except for this one nurse. After being fifteen minutes late, it took her three tries to get the needle for the anesthetic in my arm before she said "ehg, it's good enough". She then refused to give me the full does because I was under 18, even though I'm 6'4". The anesthetic obviously didn't work. So the operation, which should have been a painless three minute procedure, was a very unpleasant seven minutes. That being said, the rest of the staff, including the GI were decently professional and polite.

Carmen Hachmann

Spent two nights at this hospital after hip replacement surgery. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Some nurses seemed to be better trained than others. Hospital food was okay.... more like TV dinners. . My nurse was able to provide me with snacks upon request. Bathroom area could have been cleaned more promptly. My greatest concern occurred when I checked in for surgery. I witnessed a staff member not wearing a mask in the entry area! This happened again when I had a a recent a follow-up appointment with my surgeon. Once again, two staff members with no masks! Considering we are in Covid and there is a legal requirement, I found this quite disturbing. On both occasions, I mentioned this to another employee, but I doubt it was actioned. Security needs to step up on this.

Need to retrain your staff badly. Negligent, lack of dignity and respect. Do not tend to emergency bell in a reasonable amount of time.

Waited 3 hours to be seen which is expected. Finally got to the examination room where I waited another 30 minutes, which is again expected. But when they sent someone in after me who got seen within 5 minutes of entering, while i was still waiting in pain, thats when I realized I'd be better off just toughing it out at home.

Iman Itani

So I went there for emergency and then I was transfered after 2 days to main hospital for an operation. It is a fantastic hospital. Staff are very friendly and helpful and they genuinely take care of you especially Melanie from emergency. Everyone is professional although emergency is under a huge stress which is understandable. But there was one nurse that usually sits in triage 2 her name is Monique. She is the most unhuman uncompassinate simply very cold person I have ever seen in my life. I remember I had seizure in the middle of the night and was unconditionally shaking and cold and my teeth were chattering for half an hour. So I managed to reach to her as she was the only one there. She didnt even raise her head to look at me and all she said was "dont come here until I call you" and go back to the waiting room. The sick patients at the waiting room were compassinate as they offered me their own jackets to keep me warm. Monique is an awful person and definitely should not be a nurse especially alone at night. I hope if you go to emergency room, that you don't deal with her. Other than that amazing staff, nurses, and doctors. I love the hospital and I highly recommend it.

1) If I was dying and someone brought me to the Monfort hospital, I would die just to spite them. 2) I have paid the same ambulance bill 2x now, so imagine my shock when I get a letter from a debt collector saying I owe for an ambulance bill- that's neat. 3) The RUDEST and most incompetent staff on the planet. Stop hiring people just because they speak French, and maybe hire some staff members (this does not include the doctor's, nor most of the nurses- but damn admin staff, I'm looking at you) who are actually good at their jobs in the health care profession.

Goober Delly

I've only really had one appointment here and I didn't have to go through emergency so this review won't touch on that point. FYI - this is a French hospital so expect people talking French or staff with thick accents, additionally, expect Quebec attitudes (older more strict mentality than the English population) Layout: Parking is paid, and not horribly priced. As you enter you're greeted by volunteers that can direct you to where you need to go. Staff: A lot of friendly volunteers - definitely necessary as the working paid staff seem quite busy. The working staff, all bilingual but most have noticeable accents (not a bad thing). They also have that French ethos - hard working but not necessarily greeting you with a smile. They will get defensive when you say things they disagree with, it may even come off as rude, but they do end up helping you. Wait times: make sure to show up 15-20 min before your appointment as the reception area can take longer than expected. Can't comment on the emerge side of things. Scheduling appointments: this is my sticking point. They got a referral from our family doctor and it took over a week to get back to us. They called from a private number so we didn't answer (which the receptionist claimed wasn't true, but I can assure you it was...). They left a voicemail, but when I returned the call with the requested info, it took another week to get back to us. To top it off, it was to tell us that they had no idea what we were referring to. I had to go into the hospital in person to book it and the staff seemed irritated that I was doing it in person - well neither was I impressed. Actual appointment: the medical staff were super professional and accommodating, just wish that was translated to the staff.

Deanna Blackwood

Not a bad hospital per say. Never had any issues. However I live in the buildings next door and all their staff come on our property and smoke and leave trash and cigarette butts littering all over the grass. The HR department should really advise their staff and send a memo they cannot do that. It's disrespectful, we as tenants pay to live here, this is our home and there is always numbers of people smoking on our private property.

Took my 6 year old there at the beginning of summer with a suspected broken wrist. Waited in emergency for a few hours for the dr to simply say "there's nothing wrong with his wrist. Give him some tylenol". Went back next morning because of the swelling and pain and after again waiting for hours, was told they won't do anything for him there as the x-ray machine doesn't do kids and they don't put casts on kids because they're too small. She told us we should have gone to CHEO but we should probably wait around at Montfort because who knows how long a wait it would be at CHEO...so you want us to sit around at a hospital that apparently doesn't have the equipment to take care of kids instead of heading to CHEO right away?! Ridiculous. We left and headed to CHEO where we found out he had a fractured wrist and needed a cast. Such a joke.

Terrible experience at this hospital. Brought mom in bc she was sick. Long waits and disrespectful people waking her up all night! Asked people constantly to be quiet and respect my mother. Kerri Grant

They don't care period. After a trip to their ER I was told my pain was a mystery and they left me like that without doing any testing whatsoever. Meanwhile a few days later I went to Ottawa General and they did a CT scan and found the source of my pain which requires follow up with a specialist. DISGUSTING!

I was met with quick service and incredible times--I never thought I'd actually be impressed by a hospital, nevermind an emergency room, but this is definitely my go-to hospital!

ok lovely

MY first and most defiantly last first trip to Montfort was horrible. I was transferred to psych unit for evaluation. The nurses and security were and are horrible. I was given needles (sedated) almost ever hour as per no reason. I was calm, acting in order Behaviour. But since i was SO drugged out and given drowsy medication, i couldnt speak for myself. at one point i had gathered the energy to tell nurses i felt very sick from the needles. Afterward saying id make a report on them they tied me to the hospital bed while being extremely rough. Calling the hospital first thing tomorrow. This is unacceptable and i felt like a total animal. Keep in mind im only 18 years of age. Its terrible.

WORSE PLACE I EVER BEEN TOO, I DONT RECOMMEND. I AM NOTHING BUT A NICE PERSON BUT THIS PLACE BROUGHT THE WRATH OUT OF ME. MY NURSE GAVE ME THE WORSE ASSISTANCE EVER. I HAVE SEVERE PANCREATITIS AND AM IN SEVERE PAIN, I CAME THROUGH EMERGENCY AND WAS IN DEEP PAAIN. SHE TOLD ME SHE WOULD BE BACK IN AN HOUR AND CAME IN TWO. I RANG THE BELL 4 TIMES BUT NOTHING. SHE CAME IN MY ROOM AND SERVED THE PATIENT NEXT TO ME AND NOT ME KNOWING I WAS IN REALLY NEED OF SOME KIND OF HELP. I THEN ASKED THE RECEPTIONIST TO PLEASE GET HER AS I WAS IN TOO MUCH PAIN. STILL NOTHING. I FINALLY SAW HER WHILE I WAS CRYING AND INSTEAD OF BEING SORRY AND COMPASSIONATE ABOUT IT SHE WAS RUDE. I WILL NEVER GO BACK, I PREFER CIVIC, GENERAL OR QUEENSWAY. I WILL BE REPORTING HER. THIS WAS NOTHING BUT UNACCEPTABLE AND HAVE NEVER BEEN NEGLECTED BY A NURSE LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE FROM ME, TAKE IT FROM ME, THIS PLACE IS NOT THE ONE IF YOU HAVE A SEVERE CONDITION OR SICKNESS. AND IM TALKING ABOUT FLOOR 6, THE OTHER FLOORS WERE NOTHING BUT COMPASSIONATE. I have been meaning to write this review for a long time...and kept pushing it off...interesting that if it was a negative review it would not be put off -this is not..I have recently moved away from East Ontario ...have had reason to visit three other hospitals since....so I have something to compare to! Without taking away from other hospitals I do want to post a rave to the Montfort manages to blend friendliness with professionalism. Friendly is nice..but when it comes to health you need to have confidence in those caring for you as well...Montfort offers both.

Just spent 5 hours in a waiting room and didn’t see a single covid sanitization protocol while I watched patients play musical chairs. Registration staff is incredibly rude, disrespectful and lack compassion. The overall condition of the establishment is grotesque; although they clearly spent a lot of money on cosmetic appearance from the outside. 5 hours waiting; no bloodwork, no urinalysis, not even a check up. When placed in a room, there was hair from a previous patient covering the bed & a bloody tissue remained on the bedside floor.

Lisa Maisonette

Disgustingly unprofessional staff at the emergency walk-ins. 3rd world experience. Dangerously incompetent staff in that section of the hospital. They treat you as sub-human, and they have zero clue what they are doing and are extremely lacking in qualified professionals, who have a heart. Find help anywhere else but here, because they will not help you unless you are bleeding out. The worst kind of people work the walk-ins. This was a dehumanizing experience that left me traumatized.

***DIRECTED AT ER STAFF***This place is awfull.. as i walked in feeling horrible(been coughing and spitting blood) this lady at the front desk looks at me almost as if i didn’t belong there, this lady was also very negative and somewhat rude(way she asks questions and demeanor) and the overall staff did not look like they cared for 1 sec about their patients in the er.... on top of that they’ve just ask me to wait 10 hrs before i can see a doctor for these symptôme. If you dont wanna get treated right and wait10 hrs this is the hospital for you. Its embarrassing that you can get away with behaviour like this and give such poor service. This hospital is in serious need of management. Staff seems to hold themselves to a very low standard. I know health care is free but cmon guys....

14 hour wait for them too look at an x-ray . I suggest civic hospital or general cause this place is horrid

Thanks to Dr. Chantal Beaulieu and all staff at Montfort for fixing my hernia!????❤????

My boyfriend went in for extreme pain (possibly meningitis) in an ambulance and was losing consciousness in the waiting room, I wasn't able to be there but called twice and they did nothing but send him home on some pain killers after waiting 4 hours

I have had only positive experiences at l'Hôpital Montfort during the past 15 years or more, both for the treatment of acute conditions and ongoing care of chronic illness. My visits have involved a variety of health issues, including kidney stones, gallstones, infections, a hernia, a blood-related illness and broken bones. Yes, ER wait times can be dreadful, especially overnight and on weekends; that's the result of a systemic funding problem facing most hospitals in large urban centres and not a reflection of the fine personnel at the Montfort. When my family doctor needs to refer me to a specialist in a hospital setting, I always request the Montfort if it's an option. Your experiences may vary, of course, but mine have been mostly stellar.

Worst Hospital ever, wait times are unbelievable minimum 8 hour wait. Hospital staff are lazy and uncaring. If you have trouble there please post a bad review this hospital should be closed and the staff fired.

Recently I went into the Montford Hospital on a Thursday afternoon for an endoscopy. The staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant, even though I was speaking only English in a well-known Francophone facility. The wait at the registration desk was short, and within fifteen minutes I was registered, carded, banded, and on my way to the lockers, where a pleasant attendant helped me cache my clothes and boots (I left my valuables with my wife, who would be driving me home since I had requested sedation). I struggled into the usual two gowns, and after another ten minutes or so in the patients' waiting room I was on my way to be prepped for the procedure. Both the nurses who explained what to expect and installed the intravenous cannula and valve on the back of my hand were pleasant and efficient, as was the operating room nurse who prepped me on the table in the operating room. She carefully explained the effects of the drug that would be used to deaden my throat to prevent me from gagging, so that I didn't panic when I could no longer feel its tissues when I swallowed. Doctor Sabbagh quizzed me thoroughly on medication allergies, symptoms, and relevant past tests and procedures, and did so in a patient and sympathetic manner. He also listened to my concerns and my previous and thoroughly unpleasant experiences in my previous two endoscopies (done at private specialty clinics), and he reassured me that this would be the best endoscopy experience I would have. And he was right. He explained that the drug I would be given would put me in a semiconscious state where I would be able to respond properly to instructions, but wouldn't remember anything about what happened afterwards. This was indeed the case. I remember the injection, and moments later I was waking up in recovery, the procedure all over with. That was just fine with me, let me tell you! Shortly after I was able to walk unassisted, they rounded up my wife and the doctor took us into the office and explained his findings -- in this case nothing ulcerous or cancerous, to our great relief. The only truly unpleasant thing was the $13 charge for a couple of hours' parking. Colin S.

Recently had a baby here, so my review is based on the labour/delivery unit. I had previously had my last two children at the General Hospital and found both experiences to be obnoxious. I decided to switch OBs to be able to deliver at Montfort this time around, as I had heard good things. Best decision ever! Though it was my fourth delivery I was nervous about COVID restrictions. My partner and I had a very positive birthing experience. The staff were super friendly, (even the janitor!) and it was refreshing. This is how a hospital delivery in Canada *should* be. If you are pregnant and on the fence, don't hesitate to consider Montfort to deliver! I only wish I had discovered it sooner.

Couldn’t give this hospital a zero, so gave it a one. Father went to this hospital as he was having a hard time breathing and was having chest pains. After waiting over 8 hours and having done blood work and x ray - they didn’t find anything, so they sent him home. Went to a different hospital a few days later as his symptoms got worse. Got quick service and the problem identified (they kept doing different tests until they found the issue).. which was more serious than we thought. If left untreated he could have died. The experience was insanely different. This hospital is tax payers money down the drain!

Excellent service, all the staff from the security guard to the nurses and XRay personnel were fantastic: friendly, committed, fast. I am so happy that my first interaction with the Health System as immigrant was smooth and nice. Congratulations, you are real heroes!

I have been there a couple of times. The service is excellent and keep the place clean. I am monolingual but I did not feel any disadvantage of it when getting their service. I am thankful to the staff for it.

I’ve waited 7 hours in the emergency room and got absolutely 0 updates on anything. The worst part is that there are people who have been waiting here longer than I have. There’s been little to no progress since I’ve gotten here. They should shut down this his hospital.

Staff all seem to hate their life, make you feel stupid for not being able to speak French, and seems none of the nurses or Dr's talk to each other as you can get a different answer from each individual that walks into your room. If you are looking for a decent respectable experience go any where else, I have only ever heard bad things about Montfort.

Went to ER with my wife. She had a pain on the side, can't recall which. After ultrasound or something female arabic ER doc curly hair glasses, running shoes on the phone personal stuff, you get the idea, says to my wife, she thinks its gall stones. She, the doc, asks my wife to get out of bed and jump up and down. Is that ever part of med school training, let alone diagnosis? were sent in a tiny wait room to wait other ppl playing with their tables, others in wheel chairs didn't fit it, coughing, etc. then after tests ushered in a room filled with dust from casts and various braces, it was their bone repair rooom and ice cold. i couldnt breathe, and my wife gets lots of asthma attacks!!! so they found an ovarian cyst and no gall stones. conclusion was follow up on the cyst. this happened a few months ago, unsure when. wife also had a day surgery, this time things went fine. but with ER i guess it's hit and miss or as i read here, one doc at all times. why was this bunker saved? sos montfort means save patients souls?? school hospital oh yeah, filled with students but no real doctors. i can wear smock and pretend i am da doctor or all the doctors are taxi drivers. cheers

Was referred by my family health clinic for unknown abdominal distress. The care I received was professional, competant and reassuring. They ordered every test and proceedure possible until they were able to diagnose my condition and offer a treatment.I would feel very confident in returning or referring friends and family.

Sam Frigon

The worst staff imaginable at the emergency clinic. Disgustingly incompetent and unprofessional. I was treated as sub-human, as were the rest of the patients there. They have no clue what they are doing. I can't imagine any of them had proper medical training. On top of the terrible staff, they have extremely old equipment and are noticeably underfunded. Totally unacceptable.

In 2014 I broke my humorous bone. Yes it tooke a long time but the staff were very polite and curtious, the after care and follow up were also very good. I dont think there us a hospital in a large metropolis where you dont have to wait. This pastt 2 weeks my father was in emergency an then admitted to the hispital. The staff were very polite and curtious. The ICU staff were exception to him. We are both english speaking only so that was no problem. He us still getting very good care as a patient in the hospital.

I spent the better part of a week+ here. I have epiplespy which tends to be complicated by rhabdomyleosis. Something i informed the doctor upon becoming concious in emerg. Every other doctor who's met with me since seems to be briefed on my file. But I've had 4 nurses over the better part of the week ask me: "what's wrong?" and "why are you here?" which is something they should at least be a little familiar with before taking vitals. Up until today when a family member asked specifically what my blood levels were they didnt give us updates despite taking blood 2 times daily. Also one student nurse who inserted a catheter into me according to a more experienced nurse caused me to bleed from my penis onto the cathether. The vending machines on all the floors don't work. The nurses will treat my roommate who suffered a stroke as if he is a mentally challenged 5 year old. Most of the linens have skid marks on them.

Paseo Paseo

The waiting is longer than other hospitals. 8 hours to be seen by an emergency doctor to hear we can’t do anything. The staff are scary with no emotion towards your pain and sufferance.

Marie-Claude Lahaie

Gave birth to my son there about 3 years ago. My son had jaundice and we had to come back 24 hours after discharge. While I was there, I was denied meals as my son was the “patient” and not me. I starved in my room while trying to breastfeed until a friend was able to bring me food in the evening. I wasn’t able to leave my son unattended to go get food in the cafeteria and no nurse wanted to watch him. I was lucky enough to have a nurse who cared and gave me a Jello and another snack. I argued with the personnel responsible of bringing food to patients, and they didn’t budge. I know this was a while ago, and I hope you have rectified your policy. I am commenting now, because I was just visiting a friend who went through the same thing at a different hospital with her newborn, except that feeding the mother was included in the stay. I never complained, because I was too tired as a new mom to argue with anyone over it and just wanted to go home. I will never forget that negative experience.

Gina Radicioni Aoude

Worst hospital and mean staff. They fill the emergency rooms up with patience, while the doctors sit in the middle station to eat, meanwhile you gave twenty nurses standing around busy talking. And you wonder where the money goes Never again to this hospital....

Beautiful hospital and the hospital staff were very professional and helpful as I recovered. The hospital Volunteers were kind and caring. My experience at Montfort hospital was awful. I came into the ER with a pretty large cut on my temple after flipping over the handle bars of my bike. The ER nurses were more interested in gossiping then taking care of the patients that were sitting waiting for them. Once one finally came to see me, she cleaned my cut on my head, put some polysporin on it, and sent me home with blood still dripping down my face. She didn't even give me a band-aid..They didn't do a single test for concussions or send me to get images (like the paramedic said they would because of where I hit my head). If ambulance ever give you a choice of where to go, NEVER choose Montfort because clearly their ER staff is incompetent.

It's better to fake a heart attack or faint down in the beginning than be honest and wait for infinite hours. If you have emergency in night (not life threatening) you still have to visit Emergency. Irony is over 7 hours of wait and it's time for walk-in clinic to open, better to wait for walk-in clinic to open and go there!

I just gave birth at the Montfort Hospital and I can seriously say that they have an amazing staff. Even though it is the period where they train a lot of students I find that they do their best to make you feel at ease and comfortable. I felt safe and even after asking for a no charge room they kept me in the large room where I gave birth and had my privacy. It was an AMAZING experience and if i ever have a second child, Montfort is where I want to be. Clean, polite, food service is soso lol but who cares when your extremely comfy after a huge traumatizing event like giving birth. 10/5 seriously they surpassed my expectations.

Terrible experience today , June 28, 2018 I went to the Montfort on May 6 for an appt with an Allergist. Very nice, but he said I needed to see a Dermatologist, a Dr Lacroix , at the Montfort. I was told by the Appointment clerk, that I would be called soon with an Appt date and time. Well, by this past Monday, June 25, I had heard nothing. I called ,and left a message for someone to help me. Today, I called again, left another message. Montfort called back and asked "what did I call for?" Huh???? I explained, this woman was not personable in the least. She said that the "attending physician had cancelled the appt" Again I say "huh?!" What appointment? No one called to give an appt or cancel! I then said this was bull, no one had called me to tell me anything, appointment, cancellation, nothing. I stated same, twice, that Montfort did not have the decency to let me know anything. The woman was not helpful, did not apologize, explain why I was not notified of anything. I hung up. Went to my GP this afternoon, she knows I have extremely bad psoriasis all over me..painful and embarrassing. I have an appointment next Tuesday with a real doctor, Go back to Montfort? Not if I can help it.

Recently I went in to emergency and was in need of help. Lucky for me I received great results by very dedicated staff. The Doctor on duty was Dr. Curtis Francis Lavoie and he was so kind (at 2:30am) and very helpful. I want to say to you health care professionals thank you for dedicating your lives to help others. I am very grateful.

One of the better hospitals in the region for diagnosis, treatment and care.

Great hospital. Staff are professional and courteous. For those who complain about the waiting time they should go to a clinic for their runny nose. Over half of the people waiting in the Emergency have no reasons to be there..most waiting to get a certificate to be off work and they went to the emergency. For those who complain about the rude staff they must show some respect and they will be nice to you. Its a hospital not a doctors office.

I don't normally review hospitals, but I had to say something. I just want to give a big thank you to the people who work here. I injured my ankle and they were by far the most caring and compassionate healthcare workers I have ever encountered. The wait time was very quick and the people that helped me were very curious. Kudos.

This hospital needs to have its operations in the emergency department reviewed by an efficiency expert. There is a lot of walking around being done, joking, flurting texting by the doctor etc. Had been seen by a doctor at the Appletree clinic who recommended we go to this hospital for a scan because it would be fast. Got the scan within an hour of arrival (amazing) but to get the result waited almost 6 hours and the only way we got an answer was to make a fuss and finally a resident came to see us. No one took blood pressure, temp etc. until new shift came on at 10:30 pm. Nurse even said to new nurse that she didn't know anything about patients in 2 rooms (she was too busy walking around, getting coffee, sitting at desk and doing nothing except watch the other staff). Our room was right across from her desk, I could see what everyone was doing and also hearing what some were saying. I have been to other emergency rooms in Ottawa and Gatineau and never saw one that operated this inefficiently. This hospital could save money and help patients more quickly if they operated more efficiently. I am not even going into the stories of other patients such as a veteran bent over in pain and vomiting who was left to wait for hours (unacceptable).

J Ottawa

Will never forget. Half an hour after I gave birth to my baby. The irresponsible nurse put me in a desk chair and spun me around the hallways to transport me from the delivery room to a recovery room. Instead of getting me a wheelchair because I was still paralyzed she used a desk chair because she was in a rush to finish her shift. I nearly fell off the chair and my feet were dragging on the floor. She was spinning me around and laughing. What a disgrace. Her name is lise-anne

Y Chochar

Unkind administration at this hospital. It's impossible to get an appointment to see a patient, there is not enough staff and they have no compassion. Plus they discriminate against you if you are not francophone.

James Hardwick

Nice place with friendly staff. Wait times are much better than other hospitals and they have most of the same equipment and facilities as bigger hospitals. Usually always has space for parking.

Stefan Pinto

Had an odd experience, everything was going well concerned that my ulnar nerve compression was getting worse because it was getting blue, until I got to see the doctor and he looked at my hand and agreed that my hand had an odd color so he grabbed one of those alcohol infused napkins and said that my hands were dirty. Even when the triage nurse, med student saw and acknowledged my discolored hand and it was a worse color when I showered... Left with disbelief...

Lise Villeneuve

If you have an actual emergency, avoid the emergency walk in here. This is the lowest class service they can possibly offer. If you have an actual emergency, don't expect any help from this staff unless you have a visible mortal wound. Unqualified admin staff with attitude, doing irresposibly improper intake of patients. Then packing a load of sick people in small waiting rooms for eight hours at a time, without regular checkups on patients or offer a drop of water. You will be better off seeking emergency medical services anywhere else and should only come here if it is your last option. You will be treated poorly at the emergency walk in section of the hospital. I would suggest calling an ambulance if you need immediate medical services, because they are gravely lacking in actualy qualified emergency service workers, who sincerely want to help people and actually want to be there, because they did not look like they enjoy their job and they made it very clear. Update: Went to a different hospital the day after and the doctor treated me immediately and said it was nothing short of a miracle that I did not collapse or fall into a coma. The walk in staff at Montfort is dangerously unqualified and apathetic. As I read multiple similar shared experiences from this location, I feel for all those who may not have been lucky in finding actual medical services somewhere else in time, like I had.

Wow... The 11+ hour wait in emergency is just freaking ridiculous. Entered hospital at 8pm... Its 7am now and been waiting in the room for over 2 hours. "Student" doc entered just to say that she couldn't read the reports right so now waiting for the "real" doc... what a joke of a hospital... My suggestion is that you drive the extra distance to another hospital to keep your sanity..

1.5 hrs and counting wait time for this visit. No update or word from any staff. Last time here with injury they put me on the lowest priority to see physio and my appt took nearly two months to see anyone.

Sat in emergency with a broken leg and ankle for hours with little attention and no food or drink. No information but told several times I could go. Then can’t go until specialist showed up. 3 hours later, he did and admitted me at 12pm (still no food or drink), put me in a bed with no blanket, which I had to ask for 3 times. Now they are threatening to send me to collections because they put me in a semi private room and my insurance didn’t cover the megabucks they charged. Even though I have explained that I have NO MONEY, and that my HEEL STILL HURTS A YEAR LATER, and the incompetent surgeon who did the work will not return my family doctor’s calls. So I am going to have to drive 2 hours to a better doctor to get my foot fixed. Stay away from them.

If I could put in a zero, I would. I've been brought to Mont.Emerg twice and it was a nightmare. I wasn't triaged, they didn't put my file in the queue. They left me almost unconscious in a geriatric chair. Once I was able to stand, I called a cab and left. Second time, I had an allergic reaction to a medication. They treated me like a drug addict. I couldn't stand, but they wanted to discharge me at 3am. I had to show them I couldn't walk and they let me stay one more hour. I had to find my way to a phone to call for a taxi. I was obviously in a bad way. No assistance given by anybody, no direction to get to an exit. It was a horrible winter storm and almost ended up locked out from a door leading to the parking lot. I only remember waiting in their lovely marble front entrance, slumped over waiting for a cab. My own doctor was furious when I told her what happened. If you have a choice, NEVER go there!

If you value life, you will avoid the walk in emergency at monfort. Go to the Ottawa General if you want to be treated like a human. This was the most disgusting experience I have had. Seems like they took the worst, most incompetent, negligent staff in the hospital and threw them in the walk in area. I actually fought to keep this hospital open years ago. I am appalled at the horrid treatment of all people at walk ins. I had to physically tell staff that a patient I was sitting near had passed out on the floor, not sure if he was breathing or had a pulse, nobody there checked on the waiting patients until then. The entire staff at the walk in should be reprimanded and/or fired. This is not acceptable for medical staff. We deserve better.

Unfortunately it was terrible, I struggle with alcoholism and mental illness. " I was sober during my experience today just for the record " I was greeted with a level of disrespect and utter annoyance by a on call physchiatrist. In the middle of crisis "sober" I was given the number to the crisis line and told I could leave? I sat in bed for 4 days before I could get up the confidence to go and speak openly about how I was feeling to a doctor at Montfort Hospital. "not well mentally" and scared. I was looking for help. When you tell someone in a position of wisdom and power who is there to guide me safely through a crisis " I don't want to live on a daily basis" " this is a daily dialogue to me" and than be given a number to go home and call a crisis line? Well it wasn't what I was expecting to be honest. How many people go through this daily? How many people walk away and hurt themselves or others? It's not right... That's my experience at the Montfort June 18th 2017 @ 1:30 pm. #happyfathersday #safe24

My 82 year old father has been dealing with congestive heart failure all year. He’s not responding well to treatment so fluid continually builds up, he gets weak he has difficulty breathing and he ends up admitted to hospital. On his last visit (Oct 29, 2021), a young doctor in the ER wanted to send him home with a couple Lasix pills (which his records should show are not effective for him). Then the doctor asked if anyone had explained his condition to him and proceeded to suggest he just go home and wait to die. We know the prognosis is not good, but my dad hasn’t given up yet and is trying to get the most out of whatever time he has left. Imagine if someone told your loved one they should just go home and wait to die. Thankfully my dad has since been admitted and has the most amazing doctor and nurses treating him. She’s discussing his case with other specialists and trying to find an effective treatment. I’d give her 5 stars, but this rating is specifically for the doctor in the ER.

The only good thing about this place is my friend survived. So thanks. However I would think if your here for more then a week, you'd get more then one shower. 3 weeks only one shower... pretty sad when you have to take a basin and wipe yourself down every day. And depends, who the hell changes a depend only once in the morning and once at night? You wouldn't do that to a child, so why is it okay to do to a adult. Oh and apparently it's okay in the middle of the night to have a man stand at the foot of your bed staring at you. Out of the 3 hospitals I know of, this one would be my last choice. Very disappointed.

Been to the Er twice and was always in and out within 3 hours. Staff is always friendly and efficient. Will be delivering my baby here!

Here for our firstborns birth, everyone has been amazing, we sincerely appreciate it all. Thank you very much for the support, the science and the comfort knowing you are all close by ❤

Ora Lynn

Staff is usually courteous. ER staff can be less patient and sometimes come off as judgemental.

I had my daughter in 2019 and I was extremely impressed with the services at Montfort. Everyone was extremely professional and respectful. Doctors, porters, nutritionist etc. In May 2021, I had my son at Montfort and again I received such an exceptional service. I was admitted at the hospital 5 days ago and I am extremely happy with the services. 5 stars. I have absolutely no complaint. Everyone speaks English so I didn't have to know French to receive exceptional service.

(Translated) Thank you to the staff of the emergency and the 6th for my Covid stay. I was professionally taken care of by a great team dedicated to helping people affected by the disease. I had surgery at the Monfort, a terrible experience. The nurses, which some I have to question their accreditation, given I had to explain what a nitro spray is to one of them, are unilingual in French only. The floors are filthy, you can see the marks the casters on the chairs leave in the dirt; no broom would work, these floors need to be scrubbed. As to the 5th floor where they "prep" you for surgery, I was taken to the OR without having been given a catheter nor a needle for an accessible line; was on the prep floor for hours. Truthfully, I believe if you are English you will be given very poor care. I would never go there again, and anyone who is not French should avoid this place.

USUALLY I DON'T DO REVIEWS, BUT THIS HOSPITAL ARE JUST AMAZING. YOU'LL GET THE ATTENTION AND THE FOLLOW-UP IS EXCEPTIONAL. THE EMERGENCY CAN BE QUITE LONG WHICH IS THE ONLY THING TO IMPROVE BUT ONCE YOU ARE ON THE PRACTIONNERS'S HAND YOU'LL FORGET ABOUT IT. THEY CARE FOR YOU , YOUR HEALTH, YOUR BABY...AMAZING TEAM WORK FROM PHYSICIANS, OBSTETRICIAN, ULTRASOUND NURSE, BLOOD TEST RECEPTIONS, ALL UNITS ARE AMAZING AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. continuez le bon travail / Keep the good work. There are bingual as well and respect your language of choice...if there is a word more than amazing I will use it for this hospital in Ottawa is the best... Fatou Faith

Unprofessional staff at the emergency walk-ins. Feel extremely unwelcome. Waited over 6hours for what was an allergic reaction with respitory distress. By that point the breathing had thankfully returned to normal. Then finally get called to see doctor. Doctor came in for what was a total of 5minutes. Doctor had no answers for why the reaction. I had suggested a supplement I take possibly. Doctor says "I don't know, but probably stop taking it". With my medical history, the logical responsible thing to do would have been to do a few simple tests, to get to the root of the reaction. Doctor only took blood pressure, and sent me off. Avoid the walk-in emergency, they are severely under-staffed and bordering on incompetence. To top it off, the doctor seemed to be sick as well and was coughing constantly, not wearing mask. A horrible, experience.

Spent over a week here (overnight with family entire time) Unsanitary (catheter thrown straight into garbage, sheets weren't changed until we told floor manager) Rude staff (numerous nurses that were horribly rude to not only us but the elderly man we were sharing a room with) Not bilingual whatsoever. I had to translate for my family (who doesn't speak French) what the nurses were trying to say and heard them gossiping in the same room as their English-only patients.

Worst Hospital in Canada! Had a awful experience at Montfort. And almost Died of a overdose at the hands of malpracticing neglectful doctors, And you know who you are! Your names arnt even worthy of writing. I Had a amazing nurse tho in the OR recovery room after my surgery. Her name was Joanne. And I give her 5 stars. Joanne just got her 10th year as a nurse. Because of her I left with my life. Joanne I am forever grateful to you, you cleaned me up and got me home for Christmas. ❤️ Shell

Infected leg, came in with a 5hr wait time yesterday. It has now been 8 hrs and have not been seen yet. Utterly a useless hospital.

Wouldn't let us visit, at first, a family member who was dying of cancer. Receptionist was very rude and called security when I was rude in return. Family member died not long after and was not treated with dignity while dying. Horrific experience. Best to go to another hospital if at all possible.

(Translated) I am a visible minority franco-ontarian, but my family knows that I do not like mont-fort. I have always had a bad service at every visit; nurses who speak to you in English without even asking you if you speak French and in addition I always have the impression to be served by racial profiling ... Although sometimes it is rare to find a staff that speaks French in the general hospital, I prefer to manage in English with a friendly staff than to express myself in my native language by a staff who serves you as if you were a virus in person (Original) Je suis un franco-ontarien d’une minorité visible, mais toute ma famille sait que j’aime pas mont-fort. I recently visited Montfort hospital and i have to say that the whole entire staff were excellent! From reception desk to physicians. Friendly and competent individuals who really stand out from the other surrounding hospitals.

The 5 stars is for Nurse Sara. She is the most amazing and caring person ever. My wife fell in love with her. She was so passionate and caring that my wife's delivery went very well. If you are reading Sara, thank you very much and keep up. You may not be appreciated alot there but your kindness and caring is truly appreciated by many.

I Was at the hospital on March 9 for a colonoscopy. My experience was one of envy for the ease of the staffs use of both languages and awe for their expertise and friendliness. They should be commended.

I had my second baby in this hospital, most of the great and good in Ottawa, the service is very good and treat them the patient is more than wonderful and my thanks and appreciation to all the employees in this hospital and especially to Dr. dema mokhaber, she stood beside me in every moment she was Angel From Heaven and I'll never forget her standing with me and use it most of the wonderful, takes love and respect to this project and to Dr. dema, With all my best and my love Reem alkawas

I got my MRI done at their MRI clinic at 1968 Portobello. It's over a month since the MRI was done and my doctor hasn't received the report yet! I have called them many times and I don't have the report yet! Their admin staff are very irresponsible and don't know what they are doing! Healthcare system in Canada has become worse than many so called third world countries!!!!!

The psychiatrist offered by emerge was condescending and spoke over you when you’re trying to give information. I was asked to be there to give more insight but he Continuously told me I was wrong and then proceeded to say “but I just met them today so I don’t know” maybe shut up then. He pushed the patient to react even though he had already been given doses to sedate him and obviously wasn’t going to express the same mania as was experienced by the cops. and spoke so fast it was frustrating to try and communicate, I recognize there’s obviously other patients in the hospital but when somebody is brought in to EMERGE by POLICE who accessed the situation and that’s what they felt was needed, dont treat us like we don’t belong here or our problems aren’t important, all that psychiatrist did was say “go back on old medication, and so sign up for anger management” which they didn’t have any recommendations for but beyond that I repeatedly told him we had already tried. Just wanted us out of the hospital and had no compassion. Go to the Civic hospital. They’re actually very kind, this was our first and last time experiencing mont Fort.

Richard France

I feel depressed to be examined while in the emergency area. I'm a senior citizen English speaking "Unprophessional."

(Translated) Instead of heading to Buckingham or Gatineau Hospital, we decided to come to Montfort Hospital late in the morning and came out very satisfied. The volunteers are kind, the nurses were very empathetic and reassuring and the doctor (Dr. Ghandi) was very kind. very friendly staff . Thank you for your wonderful services.

Paid $13.50 for parking, lost my ticket but could prove I paid it, was told I needed to get a lost ticket which then cost me another $20. So in the end I paid $37.50 for parking because I had to use the ATM to take money out. Absolutely ridiculous.

I had managed to get a needle of sorts buried in my foot so deep I had to go to the hospital. All the staff were very professional and helpful. It probably took about 2-2 1/2 hours from start to finish, but that seems pretty quick to me. The doctor was great. Really can't say anything negative except for maybe the parking prices!

I had a complete right hip replacement done at the Montfort and I was treated with respect, and by dedicated professionals. I am a anglophone and I had no trouble what so ever. Everyone spoke to me in English without any resentment. The hospital is very clean and very well run. All staff members are professional, and polite. I live in Gatineau and I was very lucky to have my surgeon work out of the Montford. Not only is he in my opinion the best but his team at the hospital is great as well.

Tieri Manon

Worst treatment I have ever had at any medical establishment. These are 3rd world conditions at the "emergency" walk ins area. No actual emergency medical services offered, they would let you fall on the floor before tending to you. All female staff (about 7 admin and 1 doctor?) were talking loudly and laughing throughout the entire ordeal, which was abhorrently unprofessional, all the while, about 60 or so sick and dying people waiting a minimum of 8 hours in tiny, unsanitary rooms where you are more likely to catch something else while you are there. Sexist all female staff was audibly treating female patients better than males and treats them worse than 2nd class citizens. You would receive MUCH better emergency care at a homeless shelter.

Ethan McNicol

Rude, snappy attitude when I spoke to a receptionist on the phone on July 29th at 9:00 am. Must be the weekend staff. Weekend and evening staff in the mental health unit are more despicable, from my past experience. There appears to be a work ethic issue among some employees, but the weekday staff are AMAZING.

I went there to see my doctor. They have good covid procedures and they have a separate entrance for people going for appointments. I had a good experience except the fact the receptionist was kind of forcing everyone to speak French lol. People had to answer her 5 times in English for her to shift to her English.

Kyle Peak

Terrible service and people are rude had an appointment at 10:20 was told to show up 20 mins early and it is well passed 11 and people are giving me attitude because im asking when ill be seen....
