This Hospital corresponds to the category of Hospital.
I have had 2 surgeries in the past 2 months at the Guelph General. Both times I felt safe. There were protocols in place, for Covid. The staff were efficient and friendly. I can't say enough about how kind everyone was, especially in these trying times. Don't be afraid to go in if you are really ill. And please wear a mask, keep a distance and stay safe. It's the least we can do.
Hospital needs upgrades - MRI.. It would be nice if Guelph could attract more surgeons. Why is there no pharmacy? Now with COVID it feels like a police station.
My review is directed strictly to the laboring nurses . I recently had a baby at Guelph General, and the nurses were def a make or break it for my experience. Two in particular . Janet is amazing. I met her in Triage 2 days before being admitted to my room, and then I was lucky enough to have her as my nurse for thr last 12 hours of my labour. She was absolutely wonderful. She made me feel so comfortable, I felt like I connected with her very well and she even stayed after her shift ended to come into my c section surgery, which was so comforting to me as I was pretty nervous. Thank you Janet for making my experience a good one , especially through the long labour that I went through. Also Nancy. I met her as I was going into my c section, and she was fantastic. She took really good care of me through the surgery, and after. She also took my phone and went and took pictures of our baby while she was in the nursery, as I wasn't able to see her right away. I was very thankful for her kindness and compassion. Both yoy ladies were the best, and I appreciate you.
Waited 6 and a half hours for the dr to tell me he doesnt know what's wrong
If I could give them negative stars. I would. I cannot describe how incredibly angry, upset, and exhausted I am after spending 9 HOURS in the emergency room. I was patient and understanding for the first 8. I get it they're understaffed and overwhelmed. My boyfriend is hypoglycemic, he has a bone lodged in his throat. He wasn't able to eat, or talk. He needs to be able to eat to manage his blood sugar levels. We sat waiting to be seen for 8 hours. The vending machine was out of water and the vending machine that had snacks in it wasn't working. He sat there for 8 hours with no food or water available, he was basically going into shock by the time we were seen. When they finally did do SOMETHING it may as well have been NOTHING. They mixed up his chart 3 TIMES, and added in random information that was actually related to someone that came in 8 hours after us. Not to mention they took that person to get an x-ray as well, and they were taken care of FIRST. I cannot describe how furious I was when the nurse asked if he could swallow and sent him home with a note for a doctor's appointment. There are so many things they never checked or even asked. She was also incredibly rude when I was trying to help answer questions because he was unable to talk. She forced him to repeat what I had just told her, even though it caused him a lot of pain. I WOULD WALK TO HAMILTON BEFORE GOING BACK TO GUELPH GENERAL. I COULD PROBABLY WALK THERE, GET TESTS DONE, HAVE AN ANSWER, AND GET HOME TO BED BEFORE ANYONE AT GUELPH GENERAL WOULD EVEN LOOK AT US.
Terrible hospital. Staff are incompetent.
Unfortunately as with all hospitals they try to push people out before they are ready. Equipment is antiquated, the charting is not updated automatically as in other hospitals, the environment is quite depressing. Have met a few good doctors, and also many that are not great. If you value your life stay away.
Terrible hospital. Staff are incompetent, Spent 6:30 hr in emergency, no one see my 72 year mom after 6:30 hours we came back. They not deserve any stars
Most of staff were friendly, wait time was atrocious, building and equipment is old, and was released without any medication and every pharmacy didnt have it
I just visited Sunnybrook hospital for the 25th time this week after trusting a brilliant physician at the Guelph General hospital. After being exposed to a soft coral from my home aquarium. I began to have some discomfort in my eyes. I checked in with triage. I then made them aware I was not wearing safety glasses and was afraid I had gotten it into my eyes. This was a Monday morning. Dr. Hillary Jeanine Barrett Austin examined me briefly and diagnosed it as an allergic reaction. Unfortunately I trusted her professional opinion.......big mistake She gave me a script for an oral steroid and advised me to use Visine if it persisted. I followed those directions as instructed. On the Wednesday I decided to use a few drops of Visine, as my eyes were still blurry. Another huge mistake. Immediately when the drops mixed with the toxins. My eyes began to seriously burn and my vision was blinded. I immediately returned to the GGH in a panic and starting to go into shock. They wheeled me out somewhere in the hospital and told me to wait for the ophthalmologist. I was terrified and in insurmountable amount of pain. After a short period of time I lost consciousness and went into convulsions. At this point I woke up in a hospital room not sure how I got there. They then contacted the opthalmologist and she asked me if they had flushed my eyes. I told her that had not. The million dollar question at this point is? With all the doctors and nurses on duty.. Not one single person could have Google "soft coral eyes" In the meantime these neurotoxins burnt my eyes, eye lids and ultimately melted both my corneas. I thought this was an emergency room, was this not an emergency? I still can't wrap my head around this, it baffles me to this day. I now have scarring on both eyes and recently a cornea transplant. My vision is poor, but that isn't the crux of the problem. The burns are extremely painful and unbearable at times. It's a real treat ???? If you consider this professional, you may want to set your standards a little higher GGH. It's a complete embarrassment to our health care system. The only people impacted in all this is me and my family. There were no repercussions to Dr. Austin or the GGH. Once again the little guy gets bent over and takes it like a champ. GGH step up your game please. Guelph deserves better and so did I.
I’ve been verbally abused/laughed at by nurses on several occasions. They’re always loudly gossiping about their patients at the front desk, and they don’t care who hears.
Great service, kind and professional people working hard and doing everything they can to help. Thank you!
My mom spent the last five days at Guelph General She really enjoyed the food. She said there was always enough food and enjoyed the variety. Staff were courteous and they looked after her needs well.
Absolutely disgusting how myself and others were treated here today. I waited for three and a half hours until I finally just got up and left. Two of which were waiting to be xrayed, and another one and a half with no results. I have no problem waiting my turn, but NOBODY was being admitted. There were people there long before I was that were still waiting. One poor girl was crying for two hours STRAIGHT before anyone decided to help her. Had I (or anyone else) been there for a more serious injury than I was, there could have been serious repercussions while they allowed people to sit there unattended to. I literally walked out on (what I can only assume without results was) a broken ankle. Finally decided i’d rather solve it myself than leave it in the hands of this incompetent hospital.
Had surgery at Guelph General on Tuesday Nov 30 and I can't say enough about how pleasant the experience was. From start to finish. So kind and such a small town feel. Wonderful care and Dr Nasser is kind and professional beyond words Thank you Julie Hentges
Came with mom "66 years old" and she needed IV as soon as possible (this is what they said). Waited in emergency for 5 hours, no one showed up. everytime i ask they say she is next in charts. No one cares when we left. DO NOT GO THERE
Worst experience, just put you in the waiting room like cattle, no on seems to care, other than about themselves. Be nice if someone would tell you what's going on, but doing that would be to much work apparently.
Had a pleasant visit, quick wait time and staff was friendly
I had a bad experience in here on tuesday on 12th of october. I went to an emergency at 4.45pm on that day. They registered. They called my name around 5.45pm. The nurse asked whats the problems and she typed in the computer. They said they will call. I was waiting waiting.. No one called me. I need to. Mentioned one thing.. Even the people came after me, everyone went earlier me.. You guys beleive or not, they called me around 12.15am to inside. After I wait inside like15-20 minutes. the doctor came, asked me what is the problem. I said. and he asked me you have pain in abdomen. I said no. I m having a bad itchy. After he said "I dont know about your problem ' and he said I dont know about ur problem 's history you should follow the family doctor " how the doctor can say like this answer" I already went to walk in clinic and my family doctor! How they saying easily.. How long I waited.. Why they dont say in earlier when I registered.. U should follw the doctor. Waiting more than 8 hours.. They easily told go and follow the family doctor! And easily told " sorry for wait time" how the hospital this is! If patient come emergency they need to do test.. Or refer any specialist.. Please dont do like this to anyone! I never had this type of experience in my life time.
