We've got all the reviews of people like you who buy the products and services of Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (Hospital) in the area close to Ontario (Canada).
To this day this firm receives a score of 2.7 over 5 and the score is based on 60 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is discreet, neither too high nor too low, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to leave their review when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Hospital belongs to the category of Hospital.
Scary place. It Doesn't look like a hospital!! The emergency entrance goes to a garage!! And we were waiting for about 10 min at the triage but the girl on front (reception) won't acknowledge us at all. Eventually we asked her and she said that she is coming!!! Then We wait for at the waiting room for 1.5 hours then we left ....Our own fault for trying something different instead of cheo. If I could I would rate 0..,
Rolled my ankle last night, October 6th. Emergency doctor was kind and compassionate. Had to go back for xrays this morning . Lady emergency doctor cold and blunt. Hardly spent 1 minute in room with me. Very rude. Not a nice experience today. Don't think I'll go back there...
All the nurses and doctors are always very friendly.
Very slow service and some rude nurses. We ended up leaving before we could ever see a doctor.
Long wait, was forgotten about by a doctor in a back room during one visit
Best small town hospital!! ???? Very professional and courteous staff. ????????
Terrible hospital.
"All" of the girls here were very friendly and including wait times, x-ray, blood test, urine test and full report I was in and out in approx. 3hrs! My doctor I think she was Russian or Ukrainian but she handled me like no woman has handled me before, she was awesome! I think I will have to hurt myself again so I can see her again for a second massage therapy because she is the BEST! I was in major pain but excited at the same time! :-)
Very professional doctor, nice personnel. Less than three hours at emergency.
This place is honestly terrible. I came in today at 12pm because I’ve been puking up blood all day. As soon as I come in, they are interrupting me and belittling my problems. I once again had to puke so the nurse gave me a bag. After I was done, instead of giving me a new bag for next time, she made me keep the same one that already had vomit in it. I was in the waiting room for an hour and then I was called in. I have now been waiting in a private room for an hour and counting. All the nurses look at me as they pass by, and then they go back to heir desk and start gossiping about their patients and their co-workers and talking about their personal lives. My room is also a mess. There are drops of brown liquid on the floor and garbage that missed the trash. If I could give less than one start, I definitely would. I’m very disappointed.
Most people only seem to leave a review when they are dissatisfied so I felt it necessary to go out of my way to leave this review. Gallbladder attack brought me to this hospital last night (my first time there) and they treated me wonderfully. They were kind, the wait was short and if I could leave a higher rating I would. It’s a small hospital and not every visit can be perfect but I have no complaints. Kind and attentive staff, the Dr was great and I was in and out quickly.
Worst experience ever in any of Ontario hospitals. Very limited staff in the emergency room at 6pm. Waiting time over 4 hours during which one full hour nobody was called in. Very unacceptable for what’s called emergency room.
Decent!
Worse experience ever, please never go there. Specially visible minorities avoid at all cost. They are raising some money, just ignore.
Sadly had to go to Emerge twice in the last 2 weeks. Had quick and decent care in both cases with sincere care from the Drs on hand.
I grew up in this area. I was always told the Carleton Place hospital was too small for the area and due to lack of funding it was one of the worst around. I would regularly go to the Almonte Hospital as it always had shorter wait times and a better reputation. It is true that the few times I did go to the Carleton Place Hospital I was not treated well, or even with respect by the nurses or doctors there. I have heard plenty of horror stories from the Emergency room at CPDMH, if you have as well take heed my warning. I have had Strep Throat nearly once a year for the last 5 years. I went in fairly certain I was in need of some antibiotics because it was Strep causing my swollen tonsils. I go in, Jan 7th 2018 9:30am, I am seen by a younger female doctor, I can't recall her name. She sits in my room and asks why I'm there, no friendly hello, just Hi I'm Dr. So and so, what brings you in? I said well I'm fairly certain I have Strep so I just want it to be checked out. She says, "What makes you think it's Strep?". I go on to explain my tonsils are swollen and have white patches on them, I've had strep a lot and was pretty certain it was a bad case of strep as the pain was so bad I hadn't been able to sleep. She looks at my throat, and in my ears as I also complained about it effecting my ear canals. She listens to my lungs, and heart beat. Not before making a comment about my outfit (Don't worry, she says, I dont care what youre wearing) as I hadnt slept and showed up in a dress with pajama bottoms. No bedside manner. She doesn't swab me and tells me it's not Strep immediately. Perhaps as I mentioned it seemed to start off as a cold with mucus and phlegm. Which has always been the case with me when I've had Strep but it is rare in most cases. She tells me it's a bad cold and that I'm the 5th person in today with the same thing...has the nurse bring me a steroid for the inflammation called Prednisone. She tells me to continue with Advil and Tylenol every 4 hours despite mentioning that Tylenol and Advil have done nothing for the pain or inflammation over the last week. She says the steroid will help over the next 48 hours. I leave, dissatisfied. The doctor stands at the nurse's station as I walk out and she says to me, have a good night, at 10:30am in the morning. It begs me to question if she had been over worked and over tired, or if she is just another one of those doctors who doesn't like to swab and pretends to know best, or is offended if the patient claims to know what ails them. Regardless...I spent another day and night for hours in agony trying to sleep, with no relief from the pain. I decide to go for a second opinion at the McNeely Medical Clinic the very next day Jan 8th 2018. I booked an appointment and was seen, and taken seriously as I explained my experience at the CP Hospital. He told me just by looking at my tonsils and hearing my story it it could be a cold, it could be Mono, it could be strep and that no doctor could ever know without swabbing. He swabbed, and came back less than 10 minutes later and told me it was 100% Strep and gave me my prescription for antibiotics. Strep throat can have many awful side effects if not treated. I am so disappointed and fear this Dr may have misdiagnosed those other 5 patients before me without swabbing them either. I have heard horror story after horror story about that hospital since I've taken the issue to social media and I'm afraid to say I believe it all to be true. I hope someone investigates my story. I plan to contact patient services today. McNeely Medical is the way to go, don't waste your time at CPDMH.
My fiancé waited 5 hours to see a nurse, not even a doctor, who was incredibly rude, obnoxious and clueless on medical procedures. She obviously didn't pass her schooling exams. The doctors/nurses were watching funny videos on youtube while 5 people were waiting in the waiting room for 4-5 hours. They were also gossiping around the front desk in front of everybody. Obviously they are lazy and incompetent at doing their jobs. The nurse who saw my fiancé complained about how we applied rubbing alcohol to clean a wound and told us we should have used water. She slammed her chair against my fiancé's leg while she was in sheer pain with tears. Horrible experience, would not recommend. Go elsewhere.. The nurses are incapable of doing their jobs. They are quite frankly dumb and should be fired. Never again.
The staff here is rude, especially a large chunk of the nurses. My dad has terminal cancer and there is no communication or anything about next steps with my mom making it incredibly hard on her. Nobody wants to work with her or tell her whats happening or give her any guidence on his care. My dad asked for help with eating and wanted her instead of a nurse because he's anxious and they refused stating "oh he doesn't need it." They don't talk to him like a person. They snap if you don't know anything but won't keep you informed. Take your loved ones anywhere else. I used to be okay with the small town vibe hospital but now I've seen enough.
Good care. Old and small hospital.
Worst hospital ever. I'd give it -5 stars if I could. Went to ER, had fever, bloodwork suggested I was fighting an infection & Dr suspected it was strep throat or mono. He did a throat swab but didn't prescribe antibiotics. I continued to have fevers at home & worsened. So I went to The Ottawa Hospital, brought the bloodwork results & when the Dr assessed me, he agreed that it was strep throat (no swab results) & prescribed antibiotics. The CP Hospital never called to inform me of the throat swab results. I called to find out & sure enough it was positive for strep.. no one thought to call me with results. Shame that I needed to go to a tertiary hospital to get better care.
I brought my boyfriend in with a concussion around 11pm. We were greeted by the most unwelcoming nurse I've ever encountered. The doctor and the nurse didn't listen to anything my boyfriend had to say. At one point the nurse approached my boyfriend with a needle and said "this will help with the pain", but he didn't tell him anything else about the needle. My boyfriend also has an extreme fear of needles to the point where he will faint if one is given to him, especially if he doesn't have a support person (which he didn't have because of covid). So he told the nurse he didn't want the needle, at which point the nurse replied "then why did you even come here" and walked into the hallway and yelled "well he doesn't want the needle". They barley checked him for a concussion and told him he didn't have one, however he went to work today and his symptoms got worse so we now have to go to a different hospital. We also requested a report to add to our police file and they brushed that off. So much more went wrong during his visit, please don't come to this hospital with a serious injury because the staff does not care.
Slowest hospital I’ve ever been to. So many people working yet nobody is seen. Will never come here again.
Carleton Place Hospital is our go to for any emergency. The staff are friendly and we have never waited longer than an hour to see a doctor. I had an out patient procedure done here are well and was very satisfied with the process leading up to the day of the procedure and the execution. My family likes the quant feel of this hospital.
Would rate it 0 or negative 5. Went here in the afternoon only 2 people in waiting room. I asked about my stitch cause it fell out and I wanted to know if I needed a new one or it would be ok. The "nurse" at the front desk inturrupted me 3 times during me asking about my stitch yo ask me if I'm registered with them.. I said no she said that's all she can help me with is to register... Meanwhile blood was pooling in my mouth and running down my throat cause the old gauze i brought from home had been so soaked through and they wouldn't even offer me a new one or anything for that matter. When we went to leave the parking cost $3 and we didn't have change. We asked where the atm was or if we can pay here and they said no and no and if we did not have $3 in change that they could not help us there was no way out. Spent 30 mins there trying to figure out how to get out of parking to go at least to shoppers to get gauze cause they would not help me in ANY way. The "nurses" started ignoring us and looking the other way from us. After I went in a 3rd time to get someone to let us out. The first lady I talked to said she or someone else would come let us out of parking in a while cause there was an emergency (mind you the time she took telling us this and standing around looking the opposite way of us or the other "nurse" on the phone the whole time could have just walked out and let us out by now) I simply asked how long myself who is bleeding in my mouth a lot, my 2 year old kid and my boyfriend chasing her down would be waiting for a person to help us out and she said "a bit, it'll take quite a while after the emergency"... she then just went behind the desk again standing their looking at us like we were supposed to leave or something... Another 10 mins later this super kind teenager their waiting in the waiting room with his girlfriend offered us the $3 to get out of parking. I wouldn't trust this place ever again with anyone and I'll make sure I tell all my family and friends to never go here. Taking my family to Almonte next time, its worth the drive, they actually care unlike here. I'm mortified, honestly.
Rude and ridiculously slow
Garbage service... Takes them forever to see patients. I bled into a towel for 2+ hours before I was seen... If you are able to go somewhere else I suggest it. Place is trash...
Emergency Room staff were amazing. A few months ago I had come in for an emergency minor surgery out of the blue, and they made a very awkward situation not so awkward. They were fast, efficient, and did an awesome job.
I went to Carleton place hospital by ambulance on January 4 2021 at around 1:30pm. When I got there they didn’t triage me, didn’t give me a hospital wrist band, and was put in the waiting room for 6 hours while I was in extreme pain. It took another patient to get up and tell the nurse that I was doubled over in pain moaning and bawling my eyes out. When I finally got into a room I asked for something to help with my pain, they wouldn’t give me anything, including a blanket. When the doctor finally discharged me after 7 hours there they sent me to Queensway Carleton hospital. It took 30 minutes at the Queensway to tell me a had a cyst on my ovary that burst. They gave me painkillers as soon as I walked in the door at emergency. I wasn’t treated as a patient at CP. I was treated like a stupid teenager looking for drugs. I’m 22, I’m an adult, and my mother had to call to get them to actually treat me. I will never be going back here.
Went in for an uncomfortable procedure on 16 October. The nurses were absolutely wonderful, caring and made me feel at ease. Special people doing a difficult job with a smile! Even assisted me to walk out! From the bottom of my heart--THANK YOU!
left me waiting in agony for 2.5 hours. couldnt handle the pain left before see a doctor. searching for a hospital that will help me now.
Horrible healthcare! Went in to emergency. I was the only person there. The doctor sent me as she said I was fine which I clearly am not. I told her I had horrible pain thru my body and was sent home to come back at a later date. I went for my appointment snd was told I was not in the system! It has now been 6 days.
Went there instead of the Queensway Carleton because of the wait times. Was treated very well especially since I had my newborn son with me (I was the one sick) the only thing I will say is the nurse who did my intake put down that I had a rash which was not true. Other than that very good experience. Yes but if a wait but that is an emergency room for you.
Would have made me wait in pain for an hour before I asked if the dr was even there and he wasn't
Wait times are ridiculously long (5+ hours), even when you are the only one in the waiting room. Staff are unprofessional and become very defensive when you inquire about waiting/when you will be seen. Absolutely love Dr. Spooner and a small handful of the nurses there, but majority of emergency staff are impolite.
I had such an amazing and stress-free experience at this hospital for my septoplasty surgery with Dr. Bonaparte. He and the pre-op, surgical, and recovery room nurses at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital really helped me feel cared for, less anxious, and like I was more than just a routine surgery on the day of my surgery. I love how patient they all were with all of my questions and how safe they made me feel before and after surgery. Even during my pre-op screening call, they took great care to make sure I was very supported. The little things they did to show kindness and compassion for patients really makes a huge difference and and means a lot to me. I think that hospital does this very well compared to my experience at larger hospitals. If I had to choose a hospital to go to, I would choose this one 10/10!
Worst hospital ever. I would rather give it no stars if I could. They sent my sister home when her appendix was 12 hours away from rupturing and said it was "Just the flu". She was rushed in an ambulance to cheo when she got a second opinion and thank god she did. She could have died a few hours later if she listened to them. I myself and other family members have had many other BAD experiences here. Almonte or Perth hospital always.
Most people only seem to leave a review when they are dissatisfied so we felt it necessary to leave this review. My husband had his operation last week. The Doctor was excellent and knowledgeable. Service with Triage response was quick and professional and Nurses were amazing and friendly.
The most horrible hospital that my family and I have ever been to. The staff are rude, and SLOW!!!! The people working there look miserable and don't care if you have a toothpick sticking out of your foot, or if your appendix is about to burst. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE AT THIS HOSPITAL!!! All they do is chat about gossip while people are in pain or very ill WAITING in a stinky, disgusting, dirty waiting room. DO NOT GO HERE, you will most likely end up dying here, I'm not even joking. If you love your family, kids, husband etc DO NOT take them to this hospital if its a serious emergency!!! DO NOT!!!!! These are the "bottom of the barrel" workers, that work here, and do not have a care in the world for anyone. They don't have xray's or ultrasounds, or ct scans after 5:00pm, so if anything was to happen to you, that would potentially be life threatening, they would just send you to the Ottawa hospital, DON'T WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME HERE!!!! TRUST ME! STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! CAUTION!
Bad
If we have gone to emergency, the staff are seeing us "not at our best". I give top marks to the staff including the ambulance paramedics. Like any job, not everybody is cut out for it. Keep up the good work!
I had to take my 2 year old daughter in tonight, she was scared to go, but the staff were wonderful and super nice to her which helped to make her more comfortable. The doctor was great, very knowledgeable and good with her. He took the time to explain everything to me and make sure I understood, we were very lucky to have such a great hospital near by.
Recieved great care from doctors and nurses
Staff need an update in ethics training. Save your time and drive to a city hospital for up to date technology.
Very friendly staff and great service. You have to wait in eemergency just like any other hospital. Usually the carleton place hospital is way quicker then any other.
WORST HOSPITAL EVER! My girlfriend rolled her car was brought in by ambulance on a stretcher with major back and neck pain also glass in her legs and head.. They put her in a wheelchair and sat her in the waiting room for 5 hours. Finally got in the patient room and waited for a doctor.. Nurse came in and removed the bandage off her leg where the glass was. She stood up and her leg started gushing blood. I proceeded to scream for help because she was bleeding so bad. I ended up having to help her because the nurse was too busy on the computer.. He said he didnt hear me yelling for help yet he was 20 feet away from the room. Finally a doctor came in to help. He removed the glass put in some stiches and then left... Meanwhile shes still covered in blood. He didnt even bother to check her head, neck or back to make sure there was no major damage. I highly suggest never going to this hospital. I have never experienced such misery.
My family has had to rely on this hospital too many times for life threatening emergencies. The staff have been very understanding. We have always been taken seriously and given excellent care. Whether it was a child who could not breath or stay concious or a diabetic trauma situation or the need to be sent via ambulance to CHEO, everyone stepped up and supported us. I want to thank all the staff that have supported us. Too many times it is the complaints that rise but I want to point out that every day caregivers wake up and go to work to help people. People have their off days but at the the end of the day medical professionals put in a lot of work to do what they do. Thank you.
My 13 year old son had day surgery at CPDMH and we couldn't be happier with the way he was treated. At the pre-op and on surgery day there was hardly any waiting, the staff is pleasant and very professional. They even took the time to call the following day to make sure everything was still good with him. CPDMH is a gem.
I had to go in with my 20 month old son on a Sunday morning for an emergency. I felt so ashamed and horrible about it but the female doctor and nurse who helped us comforted me and were so kind to us. We were seen immediately and everyone we came in contact with was very patient, respectful and kind.
Poor record keeping.
