Waiting 3 hours with no people in waiting room. Having extreme acute lung pain is apparently not enough for these people.

Steven Forest

Modern hospital with repurposed old Catholic hospital ( complete with church and spire) on the hill.

I have never received care quicker. I am happy to have this hospital available.

Having severe headache...and was not seen by a doctor..The only person in the waiting room for 2 hours and no-one seems to care or offer treatment.

This place shouldn't even be open. I went blind and made 3 trips here, they dismissed me completely saying I had a migraine (I didn't even have a headache!!) My sight returned weeks later and 6 months later I took a major relapse and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, this relapse left me with permanent damage. The staff here should be ashamed of themselves.

Unacceptable wait time. Just returned from 4 1/2 hr unsuccessful waiting in ER. First, the patient has to be triaged. Granted that is understable. However, there were patients who were not in threatening situation, and who came after me, and they danced in and out like it was a walk in the park. Some of the waiting patients complained and many just left, before being seen, because they had enough. Let me just say, take me there, when I am on my death’s door, and I might live much longer just to see if I am going to be seen. I will not go to St. Martha’s ER unless they take me there after an accident. NS Healthcare sucks, therefore, stay healthy!!!

The worst hospital ever. I literally think they would let you die in the waiting area! They are all too busy talking and laughing. Whenever you ask for help or ask them any questions it's seems like it's a longer wait for you to see a nurse or doctor ! Something need to be done and changed

Not enough Doctors. ER is horribly slow. This problem needs to be addressed for basic human decency. Canada is not a 3rd world country. We can do better than this.

On Aug.29 2018 My first time to this hospital for day surgery. Thank you so much to the doctor, nurses and staff. It was a great experience!

For a regional hospital, I received excellent care by committed professional staff. The Emergency department was well staffed and performed all assessments and tests quickly; ICU care was excellent. Radiology staff new their business and very polite and professional. The hospital food was the best you could hope for in that setting. The doctors were all attentive and openly frank about my situation; couldn't ask for anything better than that. Would have been 5 stars if the provincial government allowed more extensive testing done outside of Halifax.

If I could give a 0 I would, horrible hospital. My family was treated like an animal with no help for hours and hours all night long. Kept being lied to about progress that never came. Nurses sleeping and not helping a patient who was left to sleep sick on two leather chairs with no back or butt support, and left like this for hours and hours, all night. I had to get him blankets MYSELF, cover him MYSELF, get him water and ice MYSELF, they refused him juice and WATER. Was discharged from hospital with no help while going there for mental health treatment. Worst staff and hospital I have ever seen in my life. It's disgusting that Canada would have a hospital like this.

Question: Anyone have the FESS surgery done? Wanna tell me about your experience. How was it, what is it like coming out of it, how did the pain feel... any and all experience would be great...

Yes , I did have to wait a long time, but, the people who went before me were in more urgent need than myself. I'm 54 and this is the first time I have used the emergency room, so I feel quite lucky. the nurse was great and got me an x-ray within 15 minutes. when I finally saw the doctor he had a great bedside manner, he was very pleasant and i felt confident in his diagnosis. Great job.

One emergency room doctor couldn’t care less about my third trip in the er due to bad stomach pains and was talking over me and cutting me off when I tried to explain to him what was going on then he told me I was “constipated”. Month later I find out from family doctor and actual tests that I have an inflamed gallbladder.

They do not want to give us any ETA, no questions answered on phone. People whose job is to help other people can't do their job because they have to act on Laws instead of values. very sad.

this hospital is HORRIBLE. my best friend recently had day surgery and she was treated absolutely horribly consistently by almost every staff member she encountered. This is me comparing this experience to many others of my mother's at other hospitals in Halifax where she has been left outside on a stretcher without pain meds, yelling in excruciating pain because "she was too loud". At St. Martha's, nurses and doctors were extremely rude, nobody told her what was actually going to happen, she was intubated without explanation, made to walk after being put under anaesthesia, no one could really answer her questions, and had the top of her johnny shirt pulled down without warning while still conscious by nurses. So, in conclusion, thanks a lot, St. Martha's.
