Having just moved from Ontario to New Brunswick, we were apprehensive as to the level of care our dog would receive at an unfamiliar vet clinic. We needn't have worried; in fact, Elmwood Veterinary Hospital has far exceeded our expectations. Not only was Dr. Basu acquainted with our dog's extremely rare immune disorder, he advised us to amend or cancel some of the pharmaceuticals our dog had previously been prescribed which had resulted in dry skin and an excessive hair loss. Now, directly because of Dr. Basu's intervention, our dog (a Bearded Collie) has regrown his long, lustrous flowing coat. He honestly hasn't looked this good since he was a puppy. Not only that, Dr. Basu recommended using Omega oil on our dog's "meatball pills" to entice him to swallow them - which worked! This had been a twice-daily struggle for the last few years so to have that stress eliminated has been literally life-changing. Thanks also to Dr. Machum for being so kind with our "energetic" collie when administering his vaccine and doing an overall checkup. She set our minds at rest regarding his exuberance - that it was perfectly normal for his breed -and went out of her way to be accommodating and to answer all our questions. The front desk staff is also very helpful and thorough and has consistently followed through on paperwork, phone calls and insurance claims - Jessica and Chloe in particular. Needless to say, we are extremely grateful to have found Elmwood Veterinary Hospital and would highly recommend its services to anyone looking for a top-notch, professional, compassionate pet care facility.

Iv'e been to this Vet a couple of times now. The staff is nice and typically I don't have to wait long to get in which is great. Once in the waiting room with my dog it may take 5-10 minutes which is also fine. The Vet staff is very good at their job, they are very capable and cared for my dog but they always seem rushed. It's in and out, I paid for a checkup for my dog and the vet checked his ears and told me he was a good looking dog. I don't expect him to tell me everything i mean i know he's a handsome pupper. At least check his joints, temperature, etc if your going to bill me over 80$ for a checkup. That said, just about every time so far there have been hidden costs and poor information sharing with owners in explaining what shots are best to take when. For example, a vet would know and should mention that if you may do doggy daycare he needs his bordetella shot and that if you get it at the same time as other shots it's less expensive. They 'may' not tell you that because they 'may' want you to come back so they can give the dog a shot, a treat and an 80 dollar bill. I understand it's the owners responsibility to know about the health of their dog but let's face it we're no experts. Overall disappointed with hidden costs, Be more upfront with costs Poor transferring of knowledge to pet owners, be the expert

Awesome vets. Best in town! Very knowledgeable. I would recommend to anyone with dogs and cats. The new renovations look great and they just achieved their AAHA accreditation for having the higher veterinary medical standards in the industry! They are a Feline friendly practice so if you have cats they have a separate cat exam room so it is less stressful for them :) Our puppies did their puppy classes and learned a lot!

I needed a veterinarian in a quick fashion to see my boxer. They were not familiar with us but took great care and concern in reviewing my boy with me. They offered varying points of view and removed all pressure from decisions which was a breath of fresh air. Instead I was educated with all possibilities for treatment and allowed to make the decision I felt was best. I went to the Elmwood Veterinary Hospital because my friend recommended it and will never do it again. First they can't spell my dog name properly, even after I showed them the adoption page and wrote his name down. This is not a big issue but shows that they not really pay attention to customers. I went for the very simple reason to take a Rabies shot for my dog. My appointment was scheduled on 6pm. But they kept me waiting 30 minutes even if I was the only person in the waiting room. I have adopted my chihuahua and he is very nervous in public spaces. I told about it the receptionist when booked an appointment as well as I made it clear that I need a RABIES shot. Anyway I have to wait 30 minutes that made my dog very nervous. In fact, he was shaking all that time and no one offer us any help to calm down the poor animal. After the doctor finally appeared she did not ask me any questions she did shots and said that I have to come in a couple weeks for the rest. When I asked her what the rest? Because I came to make a Rabies shot. She said she did Distemper, Parvo, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Bordetella, Lepto and NO RABIES. And I have to pay them $200 for the shots I did not asked. I do not discuss if these shots are important or not. But as an animal owner I would like to be asked first. Simply, I can do not have money for that. Again very bad customer experience. I asked her if she can make a Rabies shot to the dog, what we came for. She said that this is a very small dog and she recommends to come next time. I explained that the dog is very nervous in a case she did not noticed. The dog was half died so he was scared. By the way she did nothing to calm down the animal. And probably it will be better to make Rabies now and do not stressed him again. She refused. I have an opinion that they did it just to make me pay extra money. Because I was not be able to argue. I had to leave as soon as possible to calm down the dog. When I came second time for the Rabies. It was very stupid decision but I always think that bad things happens by accident and would like to give people a chance to prove that they are good. I was late in 5 minutes. Compare 30 minutes with an animal with hysteric and 5 minutes. And they refused to treat us. The receptionist refused even to listen to me he kept interrupting me all the time I did not have a chance to say a word. I do not recommend this place anybody. If you have a chance to visit another doctor do it. Summary: they do not care about you or your animal. They would like your money only. Doctors are not professional. They cannot treat problematic animals. They did nothing to calm down my dog. Customer service is very poor.

This is by far the best service I received at a vet! I brought both my dogs after a porcupine got them both. The staff where all very carying and understanding. My 2nd visite was for my youngest dog shots we where in and out and told us everything we needed to know about them. I reccomended this place to anyone who wants a carying customer service experience for you little furrrr babbies.

If you're looking for a vet that offers holistic as well as traditional approach, then this is the place for you. Dr Lizotte is trained in acupuncture and has a good knowledge of Chinese herbs. The only reason my dog Buster is still functional (Wobbler's and heart murmur) is because of the efforts of Dr Lizotte. All the employees are compassionate and knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend this vet clinic for your pet!

On Christmas Eve 2020 I called them around 11am to say my cat was trying to cough up a hairball, but couldn't. I wanted to bring him in. She asked me if it was an emergency. I said not really. She put me on hold for 10 minutes. During that time my cat started to make howling noises and the situation was escalating. When she came back I said it was now an emergency. She said they were booked up and closing at noon for Christmas. I would have to go to the emergency in Riverview, said sorry and hung up. I put my cat in his carrier and took off. I live in Grand Digue. With holiday traffic, by the time I got to the Riverview bridge my cat had violently choked to death in my passenger seat. I loved my cat more than anything. I have spend THOUSANDS of dollars at that clinIc including $400+ on my other cat earlier that month. They wouldn't even take 10 MINUTES for my cat. I will never forget this Christmas and I will never return there.

I was searching for a veterinarian who could give my dog's life back after suffering years of skin and ear infections and allergies. Other vets trying, failed even suggesting invasive surgeries. After reading Dr Lizotte's profile at EVH I new this is someone I would like to try, that was 6 plus years ago and we are still going strong. Dr Lizotte had our girl in comfort within 24 hours. We were more than thankful, our dog continues to live a healthy normal life. Dr Lizotte has never pushed her products, even going so far as suggesting to go online to find something more reasonable priced.(no kidding) Her prices and fees are more than reasonable. Wait times are very acceptable, as with any medical environment, people, dogs, cats it happens that one may not get in on time, however, I always feel that we are the most important people in the hospital when we are being seen by Dr Lizotte, and given the same time and respect as the person before us. The office staff, support staff, and paraprofessional are always friendly and knowledgeable with the element of a family feel. For us, Dr Lizotte and her team are top drawer, there is no one else.

Fergus and I have been going to the Elmwood Veterinary Hospital since he was 6 months old. Although he is always happier to leave than arrive, he has minimal stress when he does go for a visit. He is a bit timid so that is important to me. Everyone seems to really care about him and I'm sure he can sense that. When I was growing up, we would bring our dog to Elmwood Veterinary Hospital. We always had great service. Now that I have my own dog, there was no question to where I would bring Bijou. Bijou turned 13 yrs in May 2018 and had to have her 2 eyes removed. Not knowing how to deal with a dog without eyes it was a scary situation at first...so many questions that I needed answers for. Dr Lizotte took care of Bijou like it was her own dog. The staff was excellent and just loved Bijou. I have no worries when I go there with my dog. In the last couple of years I have seen more different vets with Bijou and they are all gentil and take their time to answer all my questions. I have recommended my friends and family when they get a new furry member to go to Elmwood Veterinary Hospital. Great place, great service, great staff, great vets...great all around. I must say I absolutely Loved! my experience at Elmwood Veterinary Hospital it truly was the little things. I have recently just moved here from BC and have brought with me a 1 1/2 year old malamute x puppy a 7 year old husky and I also have a 7 month old baby..so running errands can be a little difficult at times..! I went to Elmwood to get my puppy's shots that were due and couldn't have been treated with greater care. I came in carrying my baby girl in her car seat and puppy on leash and the environment was welcoming and friendly. I had a busy day running errands and with coming to a new place it can be a bit over whelming at times. I even forgot to grab medication for my other dog and had to come back a second time..but there was no sense of judgement just a laugh or two and felt fully taken care of. Even helped me with the door which is big on my books when carrying a car seat with a 18 pound baby. I want to mention also that My dog can be very skittish when it comes to being around people in general but they handled him very well ! spoilt him with treats and made him feel safe and me feel confident that he is taken care of. Thank you Elmwood we will be back !

I go out of my way to take my pets to Elmwood Veterinary Hospital! Elmwood VH is one of the furthest hospitals from my house. I have tried going to clinics closer to me, but I always end up returning to Elmwood. The service is very good, the staff are very friendly, and the office is very well managed. What I appreciate most is the professionalism of the staff and how knowledgeable they are. Over the years, they have saved the lives of some of my pets when other clinics couldn't even diagnose the problem. Even though they obviously work hard to obtain and maintain many different types of accreditation, I find their prices to be very competitive, sometimes lower than other clinics. Of the clinics that I have used in recent years, Elmwood VH definitely wins in every category that matters most to me!

We have had many pets over the years, and have always gone here. I find you can usually get an appt on same day, and they always tell you who the vet is for your appt. If you have a vet you prefer, they will let you know when he or she is available. The staff is very nice and take their time with you, and will answer all your questions even when you call. You don't feel rushed. We have just gotten a new puppy, and I received an email checking how he was reacting to her change of food. I find them all caring. We have always been satisfied with the care we have had for each of our furbabies.

So far, we enjoy this clinic. We have 5 dogs and unfortunately, 3 are considered seniors at this point. The part I really appreciate about them, is they seem to do everything they can (within reason) in the examination fee. I have been to 2 other vets, and both, charge $70 (they are both 24 hr vets) just for a 5 minute talk, and all exams were charged for. At Elmwood, with the amount of dogs we have, I have seen my oldest one have a bump on her eye. When we were in there with a somewhat of a panic (cancer, losing an eye...) the vet did about 5 tests (since it wasn't busy) and only charged the the examination and the antibiotics. I am not always expecting this phenomenal service and price. I know with the furry kids we have home, we will make vet visits from time to time, and I know it can get expensive. But I'm not a fan of being charged for every little thing you can hit me with. Elmwood vet, so far, seems to understand that people love their pets, even if they aren't millionaires.
