Fabulous facility! Especially delighted with my Surgeon whose wonderful work and careful planning has given me back part of my life after a horrible car accident. Gerard Killeen.

Many people waiting in Emergency. They are waiting around 8 hours. Looks like one doctor is looking for everyone. Is really sad to see this man waiting for a bed in this conditions. If you want to died in emergency this the right place to come. Maybe is a good hospital in many areas. But in Emergency is the worst. ☆☆ review Ohhh I forgot you pass to many filters around 5 areas until a doctor can see you. This an example of our Public Health System

I was referred here by my family doc to see the Gyno for a test. The doctor was very condescending and rude, as was his nurse that was assisting him. He gave me a diagnosis based on what he thought it was (before the results even came in) and all he really had to say was something along the lines of “lots of people have it, welcome to the club” very insensitive as that is a life changing diagnosis (not based on actual results) he also basically told me not to sleep around on my upcoming vacation. EXTREMELY rude! I had a follow up appointment that was canceled as soon as they transferred me to women’s college for another appointment and to be honest I’m glad I don’t have to come back here and be subjected to that. I will be telling my family doctor about this and I hope she never sends anyone else there! Read reviews before you agree to a referral! Not all hospitals in Canada are professional!

I had amazing experience at St.Joseph’s in May. My baby was born there. I would like to thank Dr.Park and the team of nurses and paediatricians who had shifts on May 7th and May 8th, 2020. They did amazing job. I got a very good care as well as my baby. If I am not mistaken, one of the nurses was Nadia. She and paediatrician came to visit me and my baby the next day as well. It was very pleasant surprise. During my pregnancy I had to visit emergency a couple of times. I got care I was looking for. All the tests were done during my visit including ultrasound. A couple of years ago I had a surgery- ACL reconstruction at this hospital. Dr. Lopez did amazing job as well.

Horrible care, and horrible administrative practices. Was transferred to St. Joe’s emerg by ambulance at approx. 5:30pm. Was not seen by a doctor until 7:20, and not given medication until after 8:15pm. During this time I was “registered” twice, both times struggling for my health card since I was in severe abdominal pain, and was retching into a puke bag while seated in what I will call a “shopping cart wheelchair” I was left in a waiting room in said chair. I was not reassessed or follow-up’ed with. I have a history of fainting and I was seated in a wheelchair. Charts were available since this is a recoccuring, diagnosed syndrome. I came in on a gurney in an ambulance and no one seemed to think I needed some type of assistance (or follow-up prior) to get to the room when they finally called me to see the doctor. After seeing the doctor (after waiting over an hour) I was transferred to another area to receive care where I waited for another approx. 45 minutes. At this time it took me going to the admin and a nurse and getting angry at them. The doctors and nurse are tolerable but the overall experience/care is horrible. Degrading, inhumane, and frankly negligent care. I have never been so embarrassed and traumatized by a hospital visit. NEVER go to this hospital alone, always have a family member or friend to act as your advocate because if you do enter this hospital alone you cannot depend on their care.

Lack of care at all to be listened to fully my current Dr I have been complaining of ankle pain since star of summer no care I had no summer with my kids. I said my feet swell badly and even when not swollen my ankle is is in so much pain I think time to get to get cane ignored last time I brought it up mid summer I was told I gave you x ray last year you have arthritis in your toe end of discussion. Before her care I had another dr that ignored my prolapses for near three years until it protruded then she told my to cut a dish sponge there to help keep it held in. I have been getting something for pain which for missing appt and admitting to being ahead of script due to pain can barely walk long distance, like to Disney Audion for my child I forced wobbling and almost falling unable to walk well at all due to the pain in my ankle, ignored just pushed into changing the meds which help much more then without as I write this without pain meds I am awake 4:49 am and have to now stay up to get my child to school. I have expressed my relationship issues, ignored and financial trouble feeling in box some words of kindness no solutions kindness would have made a difference. I am suicidal and told my therapist to be ignored and as I told my relationship issues no support almost ever unless I bring it up lack of empathy is very hurtful. I went on to say not sure money situation scared to death no support no help with my three mental illnesses after said my interest in suicide walking into a lake and gone to be as she rudely said I can not really listen to your fiances. Nothing can do, about your money woes no compassion any attention barley listening I mentioned I trying not to tell you some major mental illness symptoms once again completely ignored I was trying to tell her I am now hearing voices, but no one except Dr La chance ever cared to help me. I am the traumatized suffering PTSD BIPOLAR BPD from the man with hand down his pants right beside my daughter I was abused and ridiculed in front of me at least he was not jacking of staff then the police told me to move was full and my swollen feet I needed I seat, they refused to deal with him instead they protected him from my camera, under blanket head to toe, ewww I am stating right now pushing through my own money issues I can not go elsewhere for care or would be gone many years now I hope something is done as I am going to look into lawyer this time not acceptable so called health care, I am still from mid summer complaining of major pain in my ankle I told I x ray your foot last year and you have arthritis Make sense I went in today stating my suffering I am considering cane ignored I have only had some care and response from the head of hospital who hear my er terror ensured me the whole staff will be trained to treat the customers with kindness and concern . 5:17 am I would be er but my illnesses will not allow it mainly PTSD I am very untreated in need of care in all sides. I believe the head of hospital cares thanks for reading taking time I am truly at wits end and scared where I turn at this time ty UPDATE FOR HAVING MY INCIDENT WITH HAVING TOO MUCH PAIN IN MY ANKLE THAT I ASKED DR N TO HELP ME BACK IN MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER AND WAS TOLD I X RAY YOU LAST YEAR YOU HAVE ARTHRITIS IN YOU BIG TOE YESTERDAY I ASKED AGAIN PAIN IS TOO STRONG CAN BARLEY WALK THINKING I NEED A CANE NOW WAS IGNORED SO I RESORTED TO TYLENOL ONE I BROKE CONTRACT I AM SURE YOU BROKE CONTRACT LACK OF CARE AND LISTENING TO WHAT IS BEING SAID TO YOU I AM JUST FINE WITH YOUR DECISION AND WILL BE SEEKING CARE WHICH I HAVE NOT RECEIVED FROM YOU OR DR B SO I WILL LOOK INTO FEW THINGS ANYONE PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF THESE TWO AND IF IN CARE KEEP TRACK I AM NO LONGER IN TRUST OF THE CARE I AM STILL SUPPOSE TO BE RECEIVING BUT AM NOT. Came to St Joes for a COVID test. The experience was fine, wait was very very long (out of their control) but it has been 4 days and I have not received results where as my friend went the day after me and received hers in 24 hours which is frustrating. I was told I would receive them in 24 hours and unfortunately the only way to fix this is by leaving a message on their machine. There is no live person to talk to.

I went for mental health help here one day then the next thing I knew there were about 7 men and women in a room to intimidate me to take some medication, and later to hold me down to give me injections of something after claiming i was a liar and insisting I threw up the pills they gave me but I didnt. So on top of the injections i already had pills in me... not sure if they're trying to help their patients or overdose them cause I wasnt back to feeling normal for a few days. Will avoid their care at all costs. I was treated like a crazy criminal.

This review is for the Pharmacy. When I asked the difference between the brand-name and the generic versions of my prescription, it took TWO pharmacists to say they "didn't know what the difference was" and that "maybe the brand-name is even better?". Uh, that is not the professional role of a pharmacist, nor is it correct procedure for explaining medications. Thumbs down.

This hospital saved my life, I was nearly in a diabetic coma when I arrived with plans to go into the Glendale House (detox) not knowing that I was even diabetic. They took wonderful care of me, sure the food sucked but it was fit for a diabetics diet. The nurses are kind, helpful and respectful. Along with the Doctors. I'm thankful for this hospital and it's the one I will go to for all my needs.

Worst place ever, been couple of times and wait more than 5 hours to be taken care, triage nurses are rude, they told one time that came with a big pain that they don’t see the “reason of an emergency”, one of a big reason to become a healthcare profesional is compassion and love to work, but no the right place for that, no even ethic to approach a patient in that way. Finally went to trillium and they totally did they right job,

The bathrooms and floors are disgusting! There are some great Drs and staff here but it is just a dirty hospital compared to others in the GTA... for a place that should be throughly cleaned and sanitized.. it just doesnt seem like it. Sometimes there seems to be miscommunication between staff members and Doctors.. which obviously is frustrating.

Disgusted. Scarred me more than they healed me. Worst eight days of my life. Doctor was super rude and arrogant. His eyes had no empathy. I was so mad at him (and vocalised it) that they had to give me a new resident doctor, since I didn't want to talk to him anymore. DON'T EVER GO HERE.

My wife went to emergency via ambulance with extreme neck and back pain. She arrived the previous day to emergency via car. She had a neck brace on which was taken off and thrown out. She was in a bed, which helped but later told to get out. She was discharged with no resolution. When she got home, she still had the IV needle still in her arm! Still in extreme pain. This hospital is in Parkdale, not everyone is looking for a "fix". We are extremely disappointed with the outcome.

Took us a couple of days to get oriented with the hospital. Great facility with a little old and a little new. The nurses and doctors are great. Speaking from the experience with my mom at both locations. I enjoy coming here versus Western.

I broke and dislocated my finger at 2:30pm, was admitted quickly through triage by helpful and friendly staff, saw a doctor by 3:30pm, had x-rays done by an efficient tech by 4pm, and had my finger "reduced" (pulled back into place) soon after. I walked out the door not long after 5pm, with an appointment to see a plastic surgeon for a follow-up and custom-splint creation on-the-spot the next day. Now that's service! I know emergency care will vary greatly depending on the volume of patients passing through each day, but in this case I was lucky, and the process worked. Well done, and thank you for the efficient health-care, St. Jo's.

I’m here at the emergency room at Saint Joseph’s and during a shift change everybody left and didn’t come back for 15 minutes in the middle of a packed emergency room the ticket machine does not work half of the people that came in after me have already been serviced. I still have no number and I’m waiting an hour and a half and have not been checked in yet. The woman who was working the ticket counter decided to write down which number everybody was but didn’t know what number her ticket machine left off at so all the numbers she gave were already numbers people had and it’s mass confusion in this emergency room. For the entire first hour that I was waiting no one cleaned the seat between patients checking in and all of a sudden a woman just started now doing it so I’m not sure if she was not in yet or what happened but I think I might have to take a cab to Mount Sinai.

Great nurses, doctors and staff. Very caring, helpful and optimistic. Short wait time at the fracture clinic and x-ray.

The care of both myself and my children over the past 20 years Has been very good , hence the 4 Rating . Room for improvement , For sure , but I would still drive By other hospitals to get to this one.

Limin Wang

ER: The nurse in the ER is super caring. The doctor rushed through my examination but he got the job done. Neurology: Dr. Fam is an amazing doctor. Took his time to examine me and go over next steps. Though the wait time for a follow up appointment is much longer than prescribed :( And a tip: if you have an urgent medical condition and are referred to this hospital, try to be a bit more proactive in booking your appointment. And always be kind - remember the admin staff on the other side of the phone line is working as hard as they can but the hospital only has so much resources to book you into.

PREGNANT WOMEN BEWARE I recently had the most terrible experience at your hospital. I am supposed to be birthing my child at this hospital and I cannot believe I was getting turned away. All because my doctor recently got blood work back that I had high thyroid levels so she emailed me a requisition to get blood work done at St.Jospephs. I had no access to a printer and I showed up at the hospital because I had an ultrasound appointment the same day. I explained it to reception she said I would have to leave to get the requisition printed. I explained to her that I had an appointment, I received a letter in the mail and that my doctor just found these results and needed me to get additional blood work. When you are expecting a child everyday counts for something. I can just put off my appointment and try and reschedule for a couple of weeks later, it just doesn’t work that way. I was shocked that she wouldn’t try to find a solution for me so I could continue and get the information my doctor was requesting. After I asked to speak to a manager a coworker stepped in and they told me they don’t have a printer. Then she said maybe I could get the doctors office to fax it over, only after intervention from someone else did I get a solution. At this point I wanted to leave because I was in tears and I was just told to leave. As the health of my unborn child is the most important thing to me I stayed for my appointment. The lady directed me to the wrong place then I almost missed my appointment until the people in the lab told me I had to go somewhere else. I think that your reception staff needs to have more training and more sympathy towards sick or people who are trying to follow their doctors orders. I do not think any person who comes into the hospital where our tax dollars go asking for help should be shut out and told to leave. I am strongly affected by this and considering going to a different hospital to give birth also letting my friends expecting or in the future to avoid this hospital at all costs.

This hospital desperately needs an efficiency audit. While the doctors are treating patients properly, the entire experience around getting to a doctor is hazardous. Many of the nursing/intake staff were careless, even dehumanising. Poorly managed space, poorly managed process. Really tough being in an overfilled waiting room and everyone is more miserable than they have to be.

Coral Li

I had really bad back pain and went to the emergency. I waited for almost 2 hours and Dr. Kim treated me. Dr. Kim was extremely inpatient and seemed really rushed. Instead of sending me to get a MRI, he just prescribed me with PAIN KILLER LOL. He treated me for 2 mins in total after I waited for 2 hours. I went to another hospital and got my MRI and X-Ray done. I was diagnosed with a herniated lumbar disc. Good job Dr. Kim.

Called St Joseph's emergency department at the suggestion of numerous eye doctor's who couldn't make me an appt for over 6 weeks for an urgent eye issue. I'm baffled at how rude the lady answering the phone was from the start, for no reason. Not helpful, not kind, and definitely not encouraging during my current health challenges. Why is it so hard to be nice, especially when the person on the other end of the phone is being nice to you? Called Toronto Western and it was like night and day - they kindly confirmed that there was an ophthalmologist on call should I need to be seen by one. That's really all I was asking....I will be heading there.

Alexandra Urso

Do not bring your loved ones here. Avoid an ambulance taking them here at all costs. The staff is neglectful, and things will only get worse instead of better. Seriously. Caution.

McKenzie Mitchell

this hospital was filthy when I went. Tooth flossers, bloody gauze, throw up on the floor. Then was given an expired apple juice. This hospital needs work. ONE doctor to run the entire emergency department. Nurses won't even listen to you if you ask for help and just rudely walk away. Never been treated like this at any other hospital. Unorganized, unwilling to help, and cold. The doctor told me I would be given meds for my pain and 3 hours later only when I got up to ask did I find out nobody was told to administer them to me. Horrible experience. Don't bring people you love here.

Cassandra Sansosti

I've been here twice. Two weeks ago in emergency on Wednesday night for a fractured foot. Registration staff, nurses, doctors were all great. It was late in the night and there were some people ahead of me. Got there around 10:30pm and was home in bed by 1:30am. Then got there today for a follow up at the fracture clinic. Dealing with Dr. Vincent and the rest of the staff was pleasant and easy. I got there around 11:45am and was home by 3pm. The only reason I didn't give a full five stars was because I think the hospital needs more signage on where to go/where places are. Maps are weak. It can be confusing for someone who is new to the hospital, I had to make a couple of turnarounds on my crutches during todays visit.

Mia Stanic

THUMBS UP!!! I can only say the best about this hospital and their staff! Everyone is very nice, helpful, empathic and extremely caring. A special thanks and shout out to the great nurses that treat you as if you were their own child.

Michelle Ferraro

Horrible service from emergency nurses. It’s unfortunate that a few bad apples ruin experiences at this hospital. Rude nurses, no one willing to help. All these nurses do is give attitude and rude replies instead of helping or finding help for their patients.

yonaikel hernandez

21 of September my daughter was born in the washroom of st Joseph hospital and I had no medical help they won't let me get the baby body or opts and they won't answer my phone calls I keep calling sandy pacheco she's not answering my calls even though when I call it rings or says she's on a call my baby was almost 22 weeks and they didn't save her. Every time I go to the hospital they take me out with security

Fast service. Great staff. Convenient location right off highway. Very good pain management post surgery. Food trays for inpatients not the best. Bring your own snacks!

Jesse MacKenzie

Worst hospital I’ve ever been to. Extremely rude and disrespectful staff. Unwilling to help - was a horrible experience. The registration staff basically told us they would not open a chart for us as we were using out of country coverage and made a point to mention that they will get their money if we go in to see a doctor. So we left feeling threatened and felt like we were basically denied medical attention. Unbelievable

Damian Cortes

I have been in emergency twice in this hospital regarding my gallstones problem, the first time it was ok, but the second time it was terrible. With a needle all night and they did not do anything because nobody was there to do an ultrasound during the night shift, and when the shift changed they were asking (nurses) me what the night doctor told me. How can be possible that I should tell them what to do. The team should have some kind of procedure to let them know what the previous team did before, not ask to the patient who is looking for help there. Moreover, I have calling many people to the hospital to know what is happening with me after that, because they told me you need a gallbladder removal, but I couldn't get any information regarding about who could be the surgeon doctor or an approximate date. Very bad experience in this hospital.

Arjoon Vohra

I came here with my wife to the ER as she had cut her finger. The staff is courteous and polite. Although wife did not have an OHIP, they still accommodated with a scanned piece of ID and provided quick care. The doctors were diligent with the examination and were flexible enough to allow me in the room as she was in pain. Superb team and hospital.

Bharti Sagar

My husband went through day surgery today morning . The specialist was excellent, very polite and caring. My concern is about the nursing staff at the recovery centre. Many of them on duty but no one eager to work! Small thing like faxing a prescription to the pharmacy, they did it with such a look on their face that I felt as if I have asked them to move mountains. No smile, rude, and too busy talking amongst each other. Sad ???? very sad when such professionals lack basic manners.

R Smaczny

One of the worst hospitals in Toronto. Every time I have been there due to illness or seizure I have found the staff, especially the nurses, to be neglectful and full of themselves. It's as if everyone there is pissed off that they have a job.

Giovanna Colangelo

I had a mammogram today and the ladies who were taking care of me (I’m sorry I can’t remember their names but they were there today at 1:20). They were professional but not at all cold actually really lovely and respectful, they told me every step they were taking and why they used their first names which made me feel so more at ease. They made this horribly uncomfortable test somewhat less painful. I hope they get the recognition they deserve. Keep up the good work I’ve come to know and love about this hospital.

Lada Malchevska

Unless you are dying and have no where else to go I don’t know why anyone would go there. I’ve been to ER before in other places but St.Joseph is just another level of horrible. I ended up in ER today after my workplace Occupational Health department had to send me by taxi as I was feeling extremely bad due to my condition and medication side effects. They wanted to send me by ambulance to Humber but I have pending appointments at St. Joseph so I asked to go there. They kept me there for almost 4 hours, did nothing. . Took my blood work so carelessly I started bleeding and ended up denying me CT scan because I have a pending MRI in 8 days. So for next 8 days I may continue living in a nightmare because well since I’m not dying yet then they have other matters to attend to. My brain MRI was requested as urgent and it’s been 3 weeks and no one called. So I wouldn’t even know it’s scheduled in 8 days if I didn’t end up in ER. It’s extremely dirty there, everyone is sitting in hallways (and I mean some people were half conscious and really sick). Except for a nurse no one listened to anything I had to say. They need to get people out ASAP and check mark they did something. No wonder they miss diagnoses.

Nelson Sousa

Been coming here about half a dozen times and ALWAYS left waiting 90-180 minutes to see a ophthalmologist. What's the point of having an appointment if you'll always going to be waiting for this ridiculous amount of time?

Scott Parker

Worst. Hospital. EVER!!! The nursing staff in the Emergency department literally almost killed me twice by giving me the wrong meds. TWICE!!!!!!! When they finally transferred me to a room, they gave my roommate MY CT Scan and tried to give me HIS "IV Pick". I'd rather bleed to death than go back to St, Joe's.

Bill Malyk

We had very short wait time here, middle of the day. Our son was injured and we were in and out within 90 minutes. Nurses and doctor were all very friendly and helpful. So happy this is our local hospital!

Amber Van Zitamore

This is the best hospital I've ever been to. They have literally saved my life on a couple occasions. I recommend their er over any other; I think the longest I waited to be treated was 20 minutes... That's a huge difference between a minimum 5 hour wait at any of the Niagara region hospitals.

Anton Goncharov

the worst emergency care I've ever seen in my life. just take the blood for analysis and make an ultra sound takes 6 hours. this is a catastrophe. you can die right in the corridor and no one will help you

Oscar P. Calderon

Got my covid-19 test result here and i got positive but thank God im recervoring st joseph hospital is one of the best hospital in gta Toronto staff are very frendily doctor nureses and physcatric team too its Amazing to see a good hospital in Toronto área God bless this hospital

Angela BB

If you need your fast turn around covid test result, don't go to this hospital. I had a swab last Saturday and still no result. The nurse told me it would take 2 to 5 days to get the result, today is the 6th day. I need my result to decide whether I can go back to work. This is ridiculous, will avoid this hospital in every way.

Linda Love

To be very honest the only thing I liked in this Hospital was the lovely young lady who did my bone scan an absolute darling!!! As for the hospital itself, well I was not very impressed For starters I had to change my appointment date because I wanted to make sure that I get there on time considering that I live quite far however I never received notification in writing or of your phone call that they have changed my appointment just something completely different so here I am arriving at the correct time I was aware of only to be told I'm 2 hours early? That being said I made it very clear to the person who checked me in that I was simply not informed. Lucky for me the tech girl was able to take me a rather quickly within 20 minutes upon my arrival so that made me happy bless her company was wonderful if I ever go back to the hospital I only want her. As for the hospital it is absolutely huge barely any directions on how to find what you're looking for. The indications are very scarce and not the clearest. If you've never been there before you're pretty much may need a tour guide just to get to where you need to or ask a lot of people which is what I had to resort to doing. I'm sorry but never again but Jennifer you I adore!!!

So Not the Joneses !

This place is horrible, the service I got was shocking. We ended up at Sick Kids within 5 hours after leaving the emergency room and was told it was a virus. My child had an infection and the doctor missed it after telling me my child ears and lungs are clear. Sick kids told me you can see the redness in the ears and my child's mouth to which the doctor did not look in my child's mouth. I went in with a child with a fever, pulling on the ears and a nose bleed and medication for an infection from my family doctor 5 days previous and the doctor I saw in emergency undermined my family doctor's expertise and suggested antibiotics cannot cure a virus.I contacted the team who looks at patient complaints and have yet to hear back. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EARLY DEATH WISH!

Jasmine Daniel

By far the worst health care centre I have ever been. Appointments are constantly being booked on the wrong date, nurses are rude (and don’t know what they are doing).

Allan

My son was born here. Taking care of a baby is not easy as cold fever or allergy come to visit periodically. Thanks all staffs nurse doctors from St. Joe to help us out with enthusiasm professions and efficiency. Appreciate so much. I visit sometimes for myself as well, it is also good experience.

I have to say that this hospital is wonderful. The hospital is very clean and well organized. The volunteers at St Joseph's Hospital are very helpful and even show you how to get to a certain department. They treated me and my husband kindly and the ER department is wonderful I was there for 5 hours and I couldn't believe that but it's true and the nurses are wonderful, helpful, and attend to all your needs and even during this COVID-19 outbreak they handled this situation the best I have seen.

Norma Garcia

My dad went into the ICU last week, entire staff has been friendly, helpful, supportive, and caring throughout this difficult process. My dad is on his way to a full recovery. THANK YOU to all the staff that looked after him and dealt with us. The work you do is challenging and indeed life saving.

Adrienne Ellis

I'd like to give a big kudos to a few folks that made my recent visit to the i.v. clinic an easy stress free one. Jan, one of the excellently skilled "only one poke" nurses that doesn't even leave me with a bruise :) Terri, in Dr B's office for getting my appointments coordinated, and the pharmacy staff for being so helpful You all are a testament to "patient first" practice.

Ana Santos

I just recently had laser surgery for kidney stones. I had previously had both my children at St. Joe's and visited a few times throughout the years. I have never had any problems and was always attended with professionalism and courtesy.Times are hard, all hospitals face the same problems, workers do their best. People tend to complain about so many things sometimes just to let go of their own frustrations. But in all years I have not found any good reason to complain about the care or professionalism of the services I got at this hospital.

Tayner Murdock

Dropped off a power bank for my girlfriend while she was a patient. Due to Covid, I couldn’t go in to bring it to her. A nurse then stole it. My girlfriend waited hours with a dead phone bc of the nurse not bringing her my powerbank (which btw cost $60 and had an iPhone cord with it!!). I have had to call multiple times to try & get someone to find it or buy me a new one. There is still no resolution. Continually told “I’ll call tomorrow with an update” and then I won’t hear back. Don’t trust the employees here! I just want it back or a new one.

Robert Moore

This hospital has held me against my will on multiple occasions. Those who go there and submit to a mindset of please help, will be detained. You will forgo all normal interactions regarding intake. You will forgo any chance to explain the crisis you’re currently experiencing. And know that the security involved dose not care about you/me. God help those who come into contact with St Joes security

Mirna Misevic

Doctor Shagupta Khan endocrinologist I had for many years, she was checking my benign thyroid nodules promptly, but she left me suffer with hypothyroidism for many years. I had all horible symptoms which were on list for hypothyroidism, even one hormone was obviously low, and she admitted, but she didn't do anything about it. Instead she suggested bariatric surgery for me. Bed side manner unhuman. She looked at her computer instead on me and didn't help me at all. If you want good doctor do not go to her.

Joe

My wife is pregnant and she was bleeding...we went to emergency and they didn't let me to be with her. After almost 6hrs she came out and they told her she needs to come back in the morning for an ultrasound which again they didn't let me to escort her. Thanks to the triage nurses who still have feelings... but new regulations S#CKS!!!

Elif Öztürk

Please go other places to get tested. It's been 3 days and I am still waiting my test results. This waiting time is insane. All the other places mostly giving results with in 24hrs.

Lola Blumm

I do not recommend this hospital at all, yesterday May 15, I was 9 hours in the emergency room, sitting in some quite uncomfortable chairs, where they gave me absolutely nothing for the pain, the first doctor who attended me sent me some blood tests and after They did it to me again for 4 hours, because the blood they took was not enough. Then they do an ultrasound and from there the doctor tells me that today, May 16, a surgeon would contact me because they should do a procedure and they DIDN'T do it, apart from all the man who admitted me was upset, he was clear in his face, because he did not understand his English ... it is not fair that he has such bad attention, one does not go to the emergency room for fun and less with this pandemic situation, I really feel bad and I do not want to go back to that hospital with that Very bad attention from all! the only people who behaved well with me were the ultrasound ladies .... I think it's serious that they prescribe morphine for pain when the first doctor asked me and I told him that this medicine made me feel very bad ...

I went to the ER with my elderly mother on Saturday, November 28th. Of course, due to COVID-19, no one is allowed to go in with the patient. Although it took a few hours for her to receive a complete care, the nurses and doctors kept me informed. She had to stay for a few days and I was informed throughout the whole time. Also, they made arrangements for her to receive home care due to her broken arm. It was nice to experience such a personalized care during these busy and difficult times. Thank you for all the ER doctors and nurses, thank you Dr. Lopez and Sam from floor 2M. Also, thanks for Hana the social worker and Sarah for coordinating all of this.

The Ladyfoghorn

After my experience yesterday, I will never go back to the ER ever again. I had a chance to speak to Patient Relations about this, but I can't remain silent. I was hurt and rushed by ambulance to St. Joe's ER. Everything was as standard treatment until the morning staff switched over. I was forgotten for 5.5 hours, no doctor came and checked up on me, only the nurses, but there one was big mistake committed by the nurses, no communication, nothing... The first incident, the porter took me to CT and left me in the middle of the hallway. I was there where I was almost robbed twice. One of the men, who tried to rob me, I caught him in the act, and I had to defend myself. The second man, who tried to rob me, literally walked right beside the gurney, leaned over to the left of my bed and searched looking around for anything. I shouted at him and he ran away, description: Eastern European man (white), mid 40's, round face, greying dirty blond hair, greyish mustache, wearing a blue t-shirt with the Lacrosse logo on the right, height 5'5"-6", I will never forget! The night staff didn't informed the day staff about what medications and pain relief I was given. I was injected within two hours double painkillers and narcotics. I had to beg for no more narcotics. After my second dose injection (less than 2 hours apart), the doctor came in the room for 15 seconds, requested another narcotics injection and then discharged me instantly. The nurse told me that I had to find my own way home. I was dizzy, barely stand on my feet, after receiving double narcotics, after I begged no. When I asked for help, I was denied help, then the female nurse, who was in the room when I was getting my IV, grabbed same part of my arm where I had my IV, and she painfully squeezed it. When I tried to stop her, she insinuated that I did it to myself. Five nurses verbally started abusing me, taunting my pain and vulnerability, name calling, belittling, and I had to take it. I sat there and cried while they took all of their frustration on me while I was alone. My mother, who stepped out for a bit, wasn't there to defend me. Two patients watching couldn't believe what they were seeing. No female patient should ever have to go through this. The female nurses in charge of my care, dosed me and then denied me any safety, forcing me to leave a hospital alone. And all we hear about patients abusing medical professionals, but we rarely hear when medical professionals abuse their patients. I am seeking legal action against the hospital, and those who endangered my life through abuse and carelessness.

This is the worst, most unorganized hosptial I have ever been to. When we checked in to give birth they said we could switch from paid room to ohip, day goes by and they say you cant switch. Nurse was really nasty about it. My wife got a covid test, and I did not? they poked her veins over and over again and had to redo it because the blood clotted. They asked if i wanted to cut the chord, and i said we didnt want to have it cut, it was cut anyway. We ended up leaving against medical advice because of the way we were treated and being told we have no choice but to stay 3 days and have to pay a total of $1000.

undrAdultrtd

If I could rate ZERO, I would. After waiting over 3 hours, and watching people who came an hour after I did, still was waiting. Ended up leaving. This was the night shift, from 1 to 4am in ER. They were more concerned with socializing and flirting with each other, than actually pushing the tempo to how fast and serious they give care to people

Khadija Osman

The family center birth the nurses are absolutely horrendous my sister gave birth and she had to use the bathroom and also take her new born in the bathroom with her. They didn’t help her after she gave birth they made her do everything.

The ER was like Sodom & Gomorrah in the combined midst of a hurricane and earthquake while the cauldrons of hell were bubbling underneath; Hades himself beckoning those fortunate few to join him in more pleasant environs. Grossly overcrowded, under cleaned/maintained and just a general air of complete organised chaos in its purest form. This sad excuse for a bastion of rejuvenation desperately needs to be razed and rebuilt for the remaining sanity of any and all who cross through its creaky gates of hell. Two stars mainly for the tireless efforts of anyone heroic enough to practice the demented form of medicine within these cramped confines of confusion and despair. Time to coldcall the Munk family and rouse up some shekels for the sake of human dignity everywhere. To end on a positive note went in on a Friday at 8am and ZERO people in ER waiting room! ???? Good luck, Joe!

Rupert Ong

Dr. Suzanne Wong and her staff have been amazing to my wife and I for all our prenatal visits and checkups. They're kind, friendly and unbelievably efficient.

Abigail Obenchain

I was recently visiting Toronto and had a minor health scare that resulted in my going to St. Joseph's emergency dept late on a Sunday evening. I braced myself for an ordeal but was VERY pleasantly surprised. Triage and registration were fast and efficient and I like the high level of infection control including not having to hand my health card directly to staff. My wait to see a doctor was also reasonable given it was emerg. My only frustration was the long wait for blood test results...that took longer than every other step combined. It would be helpful to give patients a rough time frame for how long the wait for test results will be so they have realistic expectations. I had no idea it would take that long so the wait seemed interminable. Also, especially given it was NOT busy, it would have been nice if nurses had checked in on patients occasionally to see if they needed a drink or a blanket (hospitals are so often cold!) or anything like that. Just having a nurse check in occasionally and show a little sympathy for the wait could help ease people's stress. I'll end by saying that I saw/heard three emergency room doctors in action (because there's little privacy in emerg LOL), and all three were so kind, patient, and personable...wonderful bedside manner. So overall, 4 stars, just maybe bump up with communication with patients on test result wait times and make more of an effort to check in with them while they are waiting, waiting, waiting for results. Thank you!

Replica Iata

@TimSmith How is it possible that you received your Covid test results within 24 hours? I had my Covid test before you, it's been 4 days and I'm still waiting on my results - I check the online portal every day and still nothing. Makes you wonder if those who post are placing fake reviews.

This place is a disorganized dump of a hospital. Expect 7 hour + wait times in ER. Staff allows homeless and crazy people to wander freely and harass visitors. I do not believe the is any security to speak of. In terms of cleanliness, it's a write off. There are blood stains (as well as blood) all over the place. Equipment is in varying states of disrepair, bathrooms haven't recieved any update in years. All white in the bathrooms is stained light brown and signs are peeling off walls. Not to mention there's a bug problem here. There's beetles and fruit flies, to my viewing.. and it's February, there should not be a single bug in a hospital in the winter.

Jasmine Daniel

By far the worst health care centre I have ever been. Appointments are constantly being booked on the wrong date, nurses are rude (and don’t know what they are doing).

Samara Shukster

Don't waste your time getting COVID tested here! It's been 5 days and still no results. I've emailed and called but no responses. Staff working there were friendly, and the process itself was smooth, but the turn around time for results is terrible!

JP Santonato

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR PAIN SYMPTOMS!! Biggest disgrace of a hospital I have ever seen. At 5:00am i called 911 as per instructions from Telehealth, I should have gone elsewhere however only this torture centre mislabeled "St. Joseph's Hospital" was available. I had to beg for pain relievers, and was not adequately assessed. When i was verbally advised of being discharged i queried the reasoning and expressed my as yet unassessed symptoms whilst the nurse abruptly contacted security mere seconds later who then forcibly removed me and assaulted me in the process, exacerbating my pain excruciatingly, even hand cuffing me and beating me outside of the facility. The security staff wre brutal inhuman monsters, laughed and gaslighted me, denigrated me, threatened and forced me to remain silent through torture and abuse; inflicting pain on my wrists, neck, head, back, and i had to call 911 again who took me to Toronto Western. I am here now typing this prior to contacting my lawyer.

Linda Manna

At the hospital at the fracture clinic for a follow up. Paid meter parking for 1.5 hours. Asked the nurse how much longer and she couldn’t give me an answer instead she hid the files so I don’t see where our name is. This is such a slow clinic and because they have multiple doctors, people who showed up after you get seen first, crazy!

Christy Temple

Signage is woefully inadequate. St. Jo's is a labyrinth of a building. Thank goodness for the volunteers. Health care is professional, and they are doing their best despite government underfunding. Maps at entrance ways would really help.

E.C. Marcon

Fracture clinic misdiagnosed a torn ACL as a much less severe injury and then took two months to realize their mistake. When I asked to speak to the doctor who'd made the mistake, I was told to book an appointment and then be prepared to wait "up to three hours." Not sure what the point of making the appointment is if there's a three hour wait time anyway. Also I work full-time and can't just suddenly take an entire day off to sit in a waiting room for an unspecified amount of time. Honestly, I think they purposely make it as difficult as possible to see a doctor to discourage people from making follow-up appointments. Haven't been able to get through to Patient Care either by phone or via social media so I guess I'm just going to have to leave a one-star review and wait for someone to notice.

Robert Cyr

My question is why does my wife have to be in a isolation room with no air conditioning with 30+ degrees outside. When you try to call for an update you are told to call back later. We are at your mercy and must always follow your rules. I gave you 1 star but it is too much. All I want is for her to be comfortable. In this heat with no air is unreasonable. I know that nobody will respond to this posting but maybe somebody in their right might will respond. Again you ask to call and that doesn't happen either. I work during covid. I answer phones during covid. It appears that nobody is accountable. On her last day before the transfer maintenance goes in the room to say that the air conditioner doesn't work. And he doesn't have another to replace it. After 12 days in the room. Is that the answer we want to hear. And I can't speak to anyone with a name who really cares You want emails. Emails are a machine with words. Who really is doing the emails?

Nicole Haynes

One of the worst hospitals I have ever delt with. They lost my mom in the system; took us 3 1/2 hours to locate her, they gave away her booked room, and lost her all her clothing. Absolutely pathetic!!! As a health care professional myself, I have never been so disappointed in the system.

Mark State

Waiting over 20 minutes. Only 1 triage position out of 2 in operation. 9 people waiting. 3 seen by the single triage nurse in the first 20 inches of waiting. Poor performance, given that waiting rooms are working on a 15 minute maximum waiting period . Not helpful for potential emergencies at all.

Keith Agnew

This hospital is great. I've been twice in 5 years, and both visits were amazing - very friendly staff, quick, and efficient. Today's visit was via Emergency for stitches. I was seen within 30 minutes, virtually no wait.

Paola Vecchini

This hospital is a joke, over 4 hours waiting on the emergency and they kept skipping me due to "others were sicker than I". The female nurses were very diligent and helpful, however the men staff sucks a lot, they were pretty offensive and arrogants.

Sage Bouchard

staff are friendly but getting a callback from a surgeon or doctor you need contact back is like a shot in the dark so good luck

Ended up in ER at the same time as my 87 year grandmother for unrelated things. I received care, albeit a bit fast in terms of information in the end from the ER Doctor for myself; I was still happy with the care I received. Grandmother was moved out of ER and still receiving great care. They immediate diagnosed what two other hospitals in 5 days could not. Very pleased. They are attentive and the different doctors inch led gave all visited. The speech language pathologist, and dietician, Diabetics doctor and general Doctor, the heart specialist and technicians. Very effective and helpful.

Don't get me wrong, this is my go to hospital hence all my records are here.I've had all good doctors in the emergency for the past 5yrs I've been in and out from the hospital, except for Dr. Su (not sure how to spell his name)we was dismissive and rushed. I had him before too when I was admitted. He just looked at me and asked few questions then left, didn't even give any medicine at all nor treatment, he was just so eager to pass me to a different doctor or a specialist. How is he an emergency doctor? Eversince the merge happened with uhn, most of the senior amazing staffs, doctors, nurses has been changed, and replaced by young narcissists, judgmental, patient blaming, self righteous nurses, staff who needs extreme customer service lessons to learn values, etiquette, compassion, and care. The new ones who work there now seemed to be coddled and only got hired because of connections from relatives that's why they lack even the basic skills, no sense of care for patients, not even eye contact nor sincerity, just working for money not loving what they do because the didn't work hard to get it. I hope the ones who are not there anymore have been promoted.

Sean Shaw

Last time I was so ill I waited 4 hours in the emergency, to only recive a chest extray and be sent on my way home. The next day I went to see my doctor and had to take 3 diffrent medications. Please don't go here if you have a choice!!!

Dol Sang1990

Hi My name is Dolma I gave my baby birth on December 24th the last year 2019. So happy with each and every service of the st.Joseph and so grateful for nurse Kamala, however someone came after her shift when I was in labour pain there was black nurse I am sorry I don’t know her name she was rude to my husband and me I remember she literally pulled my leg when she was changing my diaper I couldn’t say or react anything even if I wanted to cause I was in pain also not in a condition to speak so she told my husband to give her a hand but not in a nice way she was ordering him right in front of me she had that nerve to do so. And even though if she wouldn’t have asked my husband he would have helped her anyways. But no she wasn’t nice she was being rudely and ordering as if my husband is a nurse and she is working there for free. I felt bad that if it’s gonna ever happen again to another women who’s already in so much labour that won’t be nice.

Pervy Wizard

i had the worst treatment i've ever encountered in a hospital this morning. I went to the emergency room due to an injury ive had for awhile now, i ended up hurting my leg again getting out of the shower and needed treatment, because my injured leg turned purple and became very painful. The service i had before seeing the doctor was amazing and fast for entering an emergency room at 715am on saturday. The treatment i got after by the the waiting room was rushed and unprofessional. They sent me away with another appointment and not even a handshake plus did'nt even try to relieve the swelling or the pain i was in. Sent me home walking and they didn't even ask how i getting home. I wasted 2 hours in hope's that i may get some help or relieve from the pain until we could come up with a plan for pain management or something to help me. All in all i would not go back there for anything that related to my health. They even told me i would be in pain forever with my injuries and still NOTHING. we can't help you in anyway and just can't be bothered to even try but thanks for the visit. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!

Saima Siddiqui

From the worst reviews giving only 1 star, it seems the worst experiences are in emergency. Maybe the Board of Directors can see if under-staffing is the problem, or is it staff. Let's keep in mind that emergency in all the hospitals worldwide were overwhelmed during the pandemic. Hospital workers are exhausted.

Brent Mifsud

Slow wait times in ER but surgeons and doctors are great. My surgeon was willing to go the extra mile to ensure I got my surgery that same week (not very urgent surgery but could have complications if I left it too long).

Reed Rider

All my appointments here were always on time. The staff are usually really friendly. I only had one kinda bad occurrence with one ignorant lady, but her coworkers were friendlier and were the ones that took over. =-= I think she was just there to prep. It is an old looking building though, but it is very clean.

Tammy White

my husband was brought to st. Joe's after a workplace fall and CT scan misdiagnosed with a broken scapula when he had broken ribs. ruptured spleen, broken vertabrea. fracture neck he was released and home readjusted to brampton and sent to st. mikes had his spleen removed and thre blood transfusionshow was this missed at the first hospital.

gamekid360

Great hospital, very friendly staff. Though It can be a bloody maze in there if you don't know where your going with all its zig zags & corridors, but then again I was there at 4 in the morning.

J Bee

Terrible service the staff at the emergency department is rude. I was transfered three times because i was told they dont know. And the lady nurse was rude i asked her a simple question and her attiutde was awful. She said i was swearing at her because i said that nobody can give me a straight answer to my question. Worst hospital in toronto.

Kathleen Chow

I seldom write reviews, but I must express my gratitude to St. Joseph’s. I was brought to St Joseph’s hospital via Ambulance half unconscious. After i was awake, i was already in a room and was given treatments and tests. I am truly grateful for all of the helpful and friendly staffs and doctors who works there. The doctor i saw listens to my concerns and took the time to explain. I am very much appreciative. Thank you.

Trudy Minbashian

Had an appointment at the ENT clinic for 9:45, they told me to come 15 min early for the appointment. I waited over an hour to see the specialist, even with the “appointment” booked. I would avoid the clinic here at all costs.

Deborah Gold

Love the COVID-19 testing experience at St. Joe's. Have never waited longer than 45 minutes, but mostly it's a walk-in situation, depending on when I go. Results back in 24 hours now. I hope they can keep up this great work.

Biskit Rekt

I had a good time when I went to get my CT scan. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I appreciate their service.

Steve Maikel Pardo Valdes

This medical center has a staff truly concerned about the well-being of patients, doctors and nurses, technicians and very professional assistants. They make you feel confident in restoring your health or that of your family. Impeccable and highly hygienic.

A few nights ago I went emerg and I really appreciated all the kind staff and the strong COVID protocols. I was lucky that it wasn't too busy and I managed to be in and out in 3 hours, but of course the amount of people waiting is very unpredictable. The doctor especially was extremely kind and friendly. This is a very high pressure job in a high pressure environment so I am very thankful for the treatment. I witnessed one very difficult patient and several other patients who were rude; just be kind to the staff and they will be kind back. Thanks for all the help!

Aimee Ruggeri

I've read a few mixed messages about this hospital. Overall waiting times can be a bit long... its true almost everywhere about that though. I have been here a few times for multiple things. I have surgery here soon as well but as far as nurses go I haven't had any mean nurses here (a blessing because Oshawa, Kingston & Lindsey hospitals are full of cruel rude miserable nurses who hate their jobs). Overall good experience here however but they need to fix the stop in front of this hospital as its difficult for people to get there across from the streetcar...

Neirouz YE

Poor service, disorganized, extremely long wait time, and poor communication with patient. Staff don’t care about you even if you are very sick and suffering in front of them. Bad experience ever! No, I do not recommend st Joseph hospital’s emergency. Lack of professionalism!!!

Marta Szczepanska

disgusting! shame on you!

Adrian Pereira

I was called by the hospital because they moved my ct scan appointment from 4 in the afternoon to 4:30 am, go figure! There was no one in the lab at the time of my arrival and for the next 2 hrs. Keep in mind it is $2.50 for every 1/2 hr parking. So I was just waiting and paying for parking. The lady at the front desk was borderline rude when I asked why there wasn't someone in the CT scan area. Long story short....long waiting time, unapologetic people, unprofessional!

Stitchingdiva328

Please if you are sick go to any other hospital other than this one.

carlos white

Appalling wait times... Good people bad management by the hospital and the govt, way too many people that need to be serviced by such a small and outdated facility. The staff do everything they can, including making their own signs when management can't be bothered.

Gail Schirm

My dad was brought in for complications from cancer treatments, and the paramedics were really considerate of him and caring of his needs. But once we arrived at the EM dept., we entered a 3rd world country. The floor is so dirty you could get a communicable disease. The staff is extremely overworked, but were kind, introduced themselves and gave us help when we asked. But that is they key, you definitely need a family member there to be pro-active about your care and get help when needed! I felt so sorry for those on beds just left without any attention. American hospitals are 5 star spas compared to this place. And don't get me started on the smokers outside every door and the trash floating around! Do not use any of the general bathrooms.

Ben K

St Joes care reminds me why I love Canada. Our system is incredible, and the amazing staff at this hospital exemplify the gift that this country has given us. I feel a deep debt of gratitude to this place.

Mamieli80

I have come to Emerg two times. The 1st time complete disaster and we walked out cause the doctor did not care my partner was feel worse and he would not even show his face. The second was only because they have the medical records as we did not want the same experiance. It started the same was the sencond time we waited 4 hours to see the doctor. This time the experience was not the greatest but the on call doctor was good once he came to see us. Because do this I will say they changed my mind a bit.

I never thought I'd say this about a healthcare centre but here we are. I've worked at and visited my fair share of hospitals and healthcare centers in my life, but none as poorly labelled as this. No maps and incredibly minimal signage. Asked three different staff members for directions and none of them were able to guide me to the correct location. Ended up missing my appointment that I waited weeks for and losing money for the time I had to take off work and the ubers I had to take travelling to and from the center. Incredibly frustrated and disappointed. Will be looking for a new dermatologist who is more accessible going forward and would recommend the same to others if possible.

We came to emergency. Still here for more than 10 hours. Service is awfulawful, no available specialist in hours. No air conditioning in waiting room. We didn't have even a chair to sit down, waiting area was full of people, we were standing at the door , asking for pill which was brought after complain . Bad experience, definitely!!! They need more staff!!!

Melissa Carter

The negative is always over represented in reviews so I thought I'd give my 2 cents. I've been here 4 times in the last year and my wait had never been unreasonable and the care has always been professional and efficient.

John L

Good: Doctor and nurses took good care and are nice. Bad: Long wait times for emergency and my mom took blood tests and waited hours and only answer we got back was they LOST ???? the blood test and wanted us to retake it again. ????‍♂️

Christopher “CJ” Soranno

The staff and the volunteers are amazing but some of the Medical Doctors are very unprofessional and I feel some people need more training in terms of creating a positive environment for patients.

I went to ER with my elderly mom on August 21, 2020. Our experience there was FIVE stars. My mom had a fall and she was checked from all angles with CT scan and X-rays. She had a 17cm skin laceration on her leg and it was beautifully looked after. However ..., we received a referral form for plastic surgery follow up in 7 days. It states clearly on the paper to call after 10 am on the next business day to book the follow up. And this is where it all went wrong at the ambulatory clinic. I was eager to get the follow up booked and I called first thing Monday morning at 8am, August 24, 2020. I was told they did not receive the referral and to call back after 11am. I called during my lunch hour after 12pm and was told they did not receive the referral. As I wanted to have the appointment booked ASAP I offered to fax or email the referral I had in my hands. They said and I quote - it does not work that way. I asked for a nurse in charge, I was told her name is Val and she would not speak to me , but they will look for the referral and Val will call me back with appointment before the end of the day. By 3:30 pm nobody called, so I called again and I was told AGAIN that they have not received the referral yet and to call back tomorrow after 11am. On Tuesday, Aug. 25 I called my mom’s GP and asked her to call the Ambulatory Clinic. She called me before lunch and told me that when she called they did not have the referral but the secretary will personally look for it and give it to the charge nurse to triage it. Since nobody was calling me, I called AGAIN the ambulatory clinic on Tuesday afternoon and after the secretary put me on hold, guess what she told me - THAT THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE REFERRAL FROM THEIR OWN EMERG DEPT YET!!!!!!! Five times in two days they could not locate the referral. How is it possible these days? I actually lost my patience at that point. I was put on a long hold and finally the referral was located. My mom got an appointment for Sept. 4, 2020 which is 14 days after her fall and the stitches, despite clear indication from the ER doctor to have the wound looked at in 7 days. Hope to never had to go or my family to St Joes for any reason ever again. So help me god.

Lucas Bruno

So quick are we to judge and write 1 star reviews when in reality everyone who works here does a fantastic job. These people work day through night and are given very little appreciation for what they do. I’m incredibly grateful for all the help I received and couldn’t have wished for more. Thanks to all the amazing people that work here!

Gail Ramoska

Staff on the covid floor are crazy and not doing their jobs properly! My mom had not been turned over for 7 hours and it's important to turn patients every 4 hours. The nurse that I complained about approached me the next day pointing her finger at me asking me why I had complained about her. Staff are unpleasant and very high strung here. Get your family member off this floor as soon as possible! The staff have caused me immense anxiety and sleepless nights. I have volunteered at hospitals before and have never encountered staff as immature and unprofessional as I have on the 2nd floor of this hospital. My mother developed extremely severe rashes all over her bottom because she was left in WET underwear at this hospital. TWO months later the rash is only now starting to clear up. Patient relations was useless in helping me with this situation. They were aware of what I had experienced but provided me with NO support. My mom was in Emergency for 2 days and they lost all her clothes and very expensive shoes! My moms feet are in bad condition so we had her shoes imported from Germany. Does My mom return home in a hospital gown and bare feet?! Look elsewhere for a good hospital as St. Joseph's is the WORST one I have experienced thus far!!!!!!!

I had many surgeries here , never once I encountered unprofessional staff . Everyone was kind and effective . This is a top hostipal with amazing nurses and doctors . People with negative comments , light up doctors and nurses are overworked , be patient . They will get to you and you will receive the best of care . Blessings to all the staff at St.Joe's !! P.S. Dr.Chris Compeau , I miss you so much ! I understand the stress you went through .wishing you the best life as to offer . You deserved it . Heartfelt thank you for saving my life .

I gave birth to both my sons at this hospital and the staff was amazing both times. I also had to come here for an IV infusion a few times and everyone was amazing.

We got a great doctor and all the nurses are very nice. As we asked to keep the most comfort for our dad and they did what we asked for. Thanks to everyone in the team for your hard work to take care of our love one until last minute.

Hospital of death, treated my 79 year old dad like a dog,the ICU doctor, she was not very professional, all she kept talking about were my dad's wishes,I thought doctors were there to save lives not let people die. They did a horabl job,my dad's arms were all swollen, they say he contracted pneumonia than lung aspiration, finally he secum to what I believe was neglect and died. I believe if it was another hospital he would still be here with us.

Vinay Sridhar

Extremely slow service and it's not being maintained well. The seating area smelled of urine. The doctor was great but everything else was very poor!

David Parent

St Joe's has always been a favorite.Just spent 5 days in ICU obviously not feeling good.Staff up their top of the line head of the class

Out of hospitals in GTA recommend St.Joseph's Hospital with Capacity to be best hospital for people with Mental Health issues; However there are Hugh gaps in how person with Mental Health issues, thst miss the mark. Its not just with the hospital though it'd with all Emergency Services; from CAMH hospital, police, ambulance, doctor, community service agency's, churches, abor services & the law. Remember even in there ill state they are patients first. You can clearly see as professionals & trained in these professions that they need your help. Before it gets worse. First Response., First Responder. Feel they missed the mark in the care of my son. I feel vulnerable and scared for my sons future & for anyone else who may have to use the system that id so flawed.

The only reason this hospital gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the cosmetic look of the building itself. It look like a hospital during a Soviet Union times. So old but very clean. The color of the walls is old, there are holles in the wall. Definitely time to give st. Joe's a face lift. Now to the staff. The staff are Amazing. They were great with my husband when we came last year, we were out in 4 hours and my husband was feeling much better being on IV. And this year when we came to the hospital by the ambulance, the paramedics were amazing, the staff was very caring, took very good care of me and were attentive. I got to spend there overnight for monitoring because they were able to arrange a surgery for me within 5 hours of my admission. So I had the pleasure to meet 4 doctors, 2 medical students, and many nurses. I have only good things to say about the great staff in this hospital. Thank you st. Joe for taking a good care of me, and my husband and actually saved my life. Thank you so much!

Steven Seijo

terrible staff, the doctors were helpful and kind but some of the nurses are the absolute worst. making false promises on times and location, along with outright denying any claims they made and lying to our faces. highly unprofessional and unpleasant overall. i would never trust anything to these nurses.

I went to the ER on a Saturday afternoon recently. Room was packed. Triage nurse was patient and compassionate despite the fact I was there with a non emergency: chronic sore throat / stiff neck. I arrived at 2:30 pm, saw a kind doctor at 3:40 pm, and left at 4:10 pm after having blood taken and with a referral to the in house ENT clinic in hand. I see the ENT doctor in 2 weeks. I could not have scripted a more civilized experience. Thank you SJHC!

Came in Er yesterday morning around 10.30 coz I have a Rectal Abscess and it was swollen really big. The triage nurse was very rude. When she called my number and I went to the desk she asked me what my problem was, when I started telling her she stopped me and rudely said " Make it short ok. I don't need to know all ur problems leave that for them inside. Tell it to them." So I simply told her I have a Cyst and its swollen. She gave me some papers and told me to follow the blue line to C. When I got up from the desk I turned bk to look at her and both Triage nurses had their cell phones in their hands. I guess they get paid to be rude and play with their phones. I did what she said and within 10 mins the doctor saw me. He said the Cyst was really bad and that he was goin to get a room to cut and drain it and then he'll recommend me to someone who can fix it. He made me change into 2 gowns and left . After he left on of the volunteers came and told me to put my regular clothes bk on. Then he took me to a waiting area to get registered. After I was registered another nurse called me to another waiting area. I'm a seizure patient also and I take seizure medicine 2 times a day. I took it in the morning with some apple juice coz I kno I'm not supposed to eat if they r goin to do surgery. I sat in that waiting area from 11.30am until 7pm without eating or drinking anything. 2 times I asked the doctor if any bed was available and he said no. He was jus sitting at the desk laughing and talking with the other nurses. I was so hungry and in alot of pain. I asked the doctor again if I can eat anything and he said no. I told him I have to take my seizure medicine and what should I do coz I have to eat something before taking it. He looked so irritated at me like I was bothering him. He said jus take the medicine with water and wait coz he might not do the surgery and maybe another doctor will. I took the medicine with water and after a few minutes I vomited it out. I continued waiting. Many times the waiting area got empty and filled up again. And I was still waiting. Around 5.30pm I started coughing and I guess from sitting and coughing I put pressure on my butt and the Cyst burst messing up my underwear and pants. I went bk to the desk but the doctor wasn't there so I told the nurse that the cyst had burst and what should I do. He asked me my name and looked it up on the computer and then told me to continue waiting so the doctor can look at it. He didn't even offer me some wet wipes to clean myself. And the stuff that comes out is alot and it stinks really bad. So I just went to the washroom and tried to clean myself with some wet paper towels. I went bk and waited until 7pm when no one still didn't call me I left. I came to that hospital because the last time I was there which was in 2012 the nurses and doctors were very helpful and caring. I guess alot has changed from then to now. I will never go bk there and won't let my family members go bk. If the nurses and doctors don't want to work then y are they there. If they just want to sit and play on there phones then they should stay at home. U guys really suck.

I had my surgery here yesterday. This is the first surgery I've ever had and I was extremely nervous about it. I actually felt at ease as soon as came into the hospital. Every single person was friendly and pleasant to deal with, including the people at checkin. The pre op nurses and the anesthesiologist did a fantastic job of making me feel at ease. While waiting for my surgery I felt like I was at a spa instead of a hospital. The staff in both pre and post op exceeded my expectations. They all seemed to know how to look after patients and they seemed to genuinely care about my needs. I was in tremendous pain after my surgery and I could hear the nurses coming by to check up on me asking me what I needed. As soon as I told them I was in pain they immediately offered relief and continuously checked up on me before moving me to the post op room where the care I received was very thorough and compassionate. If the process wasn't so quick I would've taken the time to thank them all for their hard work.

Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care towards my 85 yo father. He came in by ambulance after a fall. Had a CT scan, bloodwork and urinalysis done, just to be told he was fine. No xray on the massive bruise along the lung area after the fall into the tub, even though he complained of pain. 17 hours later and 5 of those of not seeing anyone, we decided to leave, especially since my father laid in his soiled diaper for 4 of those hours. No care at all for the seniors, shame on you

Ada Lim

Very long wait in the ER. Seems like there's just 1 doctor seeing all the patients. Obviously, you wouldn't be in the ER unless you're not feeling ill. 8-12hours wait time.

Cassia Fayexoxo

I went into the Emergency ward for a miscarriage scare. Patients that came in 1 hour after me were treated first, which I find incredibly unfair considering I was only waiting for my blood to be drawn, then I had to wait another 2 hours for an ultrasound, all while incredibly anxious of what my results were and with how sensitive the situation is for my partner and I. While in the waiting room, the 2/3 receptionists (1 bigger woman in particular) was INCREDIBLY loud, used profound language every other sentence (while children were around nonetheless), we had to listen to their personal life stories, and didn't allow the patients to have one minute of silence while under the stress of what they were going through. They also weren't wearing masks most of the time. While people wait for potential bad news, we DO NOT want to hear receptionists talking and swearing so loudly! I've decided to move my choice of hospital to deliver my baby to a different hospital in the city. Hopefully I don't have to near other receptionists shout as loudly as they did.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a high fever and pain in all my body so I desided to visit the er. The waiting time was very long, first nurse didn't give a little about what I have to say, the second nurse again spent half a minute listening to what I have to say and said to go wait for 20 mins. After 2 hours I was called and I waited 20 more minutes for my doctor. The doctor said 'ya, your throat looks bad must be a strep', when I tried to ask how do I treat my high fever, pain, and chills he left. Than I waited 30 more minutes for the nurse to come and do the swab. That was fun too: I only had growth on the left side of my throat, well that nurse took a swab and spread around my whole mouth and the next morning I had to spit out most of my saliva because swallowing pain have gone 5 to 100 in one night. So I've received no respect, CARE, or at least a human interaction. It's like they see you as an idiot who came in and ruined their chit chat. I hate this place and now I'm afraid of doctors, because apparently on this hospital they don't give a thing about the patient.

02/23/22 Today I took my 3 year old to St. Joseph's Hospital CIBC Just For Kids Clinic to see a doctor. On the way in I went through the COVID Screening process & was asked if I was Vaccinated, & I was honest & said no. He gave me my visitor pass and a new mask and we went upstairs to see the doctor. After seeing the doctor, on our way out after 2.5 hours, there was a new person at the screening place, I kindly asked him is there a washroom so my daughter can use it before we leave. He replied "oh yes, over there, oh wait are you Vaccinated?", I replied honestly "no". He replied "then she (my 3 year old daughter) cannot use the washroom". I reiterated what he said calmly, "my 3 year old cannot use the washroom at the hospital because I am not vaccinated even though I have a visitor pass, passed covid screening, made them aware that I was unvaccinated, and was wearing my mask given by the hospital". He started getting louder, stating " YOU ARE NOT VACCINATED SHE CANNOT USE THE WASHROOM", I reiterated what he said again, and he replied "you are not vaccinated, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? YOU DONT BELONG HERE". (Keep in mind this hospital policy is any unvaccinated parent CAN ACCOMPANY a minor under 18). I replied in shock, "I do not belong in a hospital for reasons not related to COVID? My daughter came to see a doctor, I booked an appointment, I already have seen the doctor, I have the visitor pass (and I showed him) where the gentleman earlier asked if I was vaccinated and I was honest and was permitted to go in". He replied even louder, "IF YOU ARE NOT VACCINATED, YOUR DAUGHTER CANNOT USE THE WASHROOM". I then, took out my phone to start recording him, and once he realized what I was doing, he then said "FINE. TAKE HER TO THE WASHROOM, ILL HAVE SOMEONE COME CLEAN UP AFTER YOU". I took my daughter into the washroom, & literally started crying. I felt so disrespected and discriminated against. I was treated as an animal. I was told that I DIDNT BELONG in the hospital. He was loud, rude and disrespectful in front of my child. He made me feel like I was dirty because I was unvaccinated, he made me feel like we are not apart of society and didn't deserve to be treated respectfully. It might seem like a small thing, but today I was degraded and discriminated against at a hospital because of MY CHOICE. Everytime I think about it, I cry. It was a very disturbing and disgusting experience in a place that is supposed to care for you.

Angel Heaven

Worst and worst every year!! Came from beginning for blood test with baby which has fever 40, doctor said urine test will show if any infection, even i was still asking blood test! After 8 HOURS WAITING WITH SICK CRYING BABY they said NOW WE NEED BLOOD TEST!!!! How???? Said blood test stressful, than WHY YOU GUYS TAKING 1 LITRE BLOOD FROM NEWBORN????

NK CQDL

Do yourself a favor. Go to another hospital if you have a choice. If I could give them no star at all i already did. Don’t ask them questions cause they wouldn’t know how to answer even the most basic inquiry. And to those staff who are taking phone calls I thank you so much for a horrible service. You guys were passing phone calls from one person to another. lol. Ridiculous.

Paul McLean

Both kids were born here, our GP is here. The hospital is easily accessible, people are caring, kind and knowledgeable.

Victor Belair

Spent 5 days at St.Joesph in 2L surgery with a collapse lung. I have to say the doctors and especially the nurses really took really good care of me. Especially one nurse named Hilda....she definitely is a credit to her perfession.

Amaar Staar

Absolutely horrible hospital. If I could give 0 stars I would. The equipment is out of date and the staff seem like they hate their job. I met 2 nice nurses out of all the people we interacted with. I had a horrible experience giving birth and horrible experience in the Emergency with family. Today my sister went in with numbness in her left arm and chest pain, when they took blood, they lost it and only told us 3 ours later when we asked how much longer it would be, then they told us ``oh yeah, we lost your blood and need to take more.`` We waited 8 hours for the doctor to tell us he doesn't know what`s causing the pain or where the pain is coming from and refused to suggest what would be best to take (Advil, Tylenol etc) to alleviate the pain.

Jamie Wilson-Hull

I have had 2 surgeries at St. Joseph's. My first experience was much better than my fear made me believe it would be. I was out (general anesthesia) quickly and came around quickly while being wheeled into recovery. Felt like I just blinked and was alert, went home same day. Second surgery, HORRIBLE experience with pre-op and anesthesia in spite of it being a much shorter surgery and having asked during pre-op for the SAME COCKTAIL I had the first time. The anesthetist was unsure of herself, rather quick to tell me things that SHOULD have been discussed and re-done prior to surgery date and I was dizzy, nauseous and confused when I woke up to a male nurse saying that my family doc was an (bleep) because my blood pressure was higher than usual (DUH...I was dizzy, scared, confused, groggy etc., not at all like my first experience in spite of being reassured that I'd have the same cocktail as last time since I did so well on it....wasn't used. Another one used instead which was horrible.). A visit to the ER wasn't great either. I was ushered from one waiting area to another where I had stoke like symptoms and ignored with everyone else, waiting shoulder to shoulder. The washrooms were ill kept and while I know waiting times in ER's are horrible anyway in Ontario, it took me nearly 3 hours before I was even looked at by a nurse in the inner waiting room. I ended up with an infected throat and a walk-in clinic visit a few days later, after getting out some 8 hours later with a script for pain meds which weren't needed at that point. The ER doc I saw was good, explanatory but, brief and that was after 6 or more hours of waiting. Intake/Triage was an assembly line and drug addicts, high, were allowed to harass patients while waiting with utter nonsensical things (hey, they were high and possibly looking for more drugs???) The ONLY reason that I'm giving this hospital 2 stars is because of the doctors who did both of my surgeries. The hospital, I am upset with. Advocate for yourselves in non-ER situations, please! I'd steer clear of this hospital if you aren't booked with a good doc/surgeon. She is the only saving grace for this hospital.

Darwin Ching

Very kind and attentive staff, whether it was during my X-Ray, CT scan, or hospitalization/surgery. Dr. Compeau is an outstanding surgeon.

Natalie Wong

Decent hospital and staff was friendly. The wait was long but this seems to be a very typical wait for most hospital emergency rooms. Dislocated my elbow but did not get attention until two hours later, so it wasn't the most comfortable wait. The doctor didn't fix my arm until 3 or 4 hours later. Their occupational therapy department is excellent though. The doctor was very helpful, kind and encouraging through the entire rehabilitation process (4 to 5 month long, about 2-3 times a week). Highly recommend going there if you need to see an occupational therapist.

Nikita Alexander

I share a 3 star not for waiting in the emergency room for 3 hours. That is not a problem, coming in today to do a ultrasound. Made a appointment yesterday before leaving for a 9am appointment this morning. Only to find out after waiting for the test appointment that I have to line up again just to register for an appointment that was already made. This seen a bit repetitive and annoying. Espeically when it is not written on the letter given with the date and time.

Temagami Today

I was visiting family, and went to emergency. The staffs were so professional for all in waiting room. It was late evening and full. The respect and concern shown to those waiting, and being a downtown hospital, they handled many serious needs, I watched being met. I haven't experienced in other hospitals, for over ten years. It was like stepping back in time. I had o come back for treatment for a week, all times I was in and out within 2 hours. Thank you for renewing my faith. Job well done, to the entry staff , and front line workers, excellent. Maybe the staff does practise the faith of the hospital, be kind and helpful to others. If you have had a bad experience here, with respect you may be creating it by your unrealistic demands.

Nashy Jinnah

I go to this hospital bc it is close to home & for no other reason. I had twins at this hospital and to be honest I was not impressed by the care I received. Not one nurse came to see me and offer me any tips on day one. I saw no doctor during my stay. I was not offered any assistance until I asked for it. My meds for my c section recovery came late more tha once to the point that u had to go find my nurse Being a new mom, I was hoping for just a little guidance but no such luck. y return visits to the emergency ward (3 visits) were lengthy 12 and 14 hours long The emergency ward at night is filthy w bugs on the floor. Depending on who you deal with (doc and nurse) will dictate the kind of service you get. All.in you get lucky enough to get a good doc / nurse youre fine aside if the long wait times Suffice to say I will.never have another baby at this hospital. Nor will I reccomend it

steve gomes

This place has really gone downhill, got here with my 5y daughter at 12:45, its 3 and havent been seem by any Doctor, shes fallen asleep twice! Triage was a joke, 2 nurses, 1 left for like 30 min, the other was taking 10 min breaks between patients and at 1 point was gonne too. I remember coming here to pediatric and it was amazing! Now... A joke, place is packed and it seems to have 1 DR only. Way to go guys!!

Jamie Mortimer

The fracture clinic at St. Joe's is a hot mess. Basically a free for all in the waiting room. Don't rely on your appointment time. It never happens on time. The doctor I delt with didn't even give me advice about how to treat my broken arm, I had to look online to figure everything out.

Michael Falabella

They helped my dad. Wait...then whos joseph?

LIDZ

I was in this hospital for a foot surgery today. From the fracture clinic, pre-admission, admission to nurses, anesthesiologists, operation room team and surgeons, everybody, were really nice, professional and supportive! It was my first ever surgery and they made it a great experience of mine! I truly appreciate every single person in my care team today! You could guess how good my mood is now, right after my surgery to get online and write this (Before my pain starts)! Lol

Glendale House needs to be reviewed & visited by the Health and Safety board without notice. It is completely unsafe and a serious potential health hazard. It is so sad I have to ask if the place is safe and clean considering that is the reason for its existence. It seems no one cares for the patients dealing with addicition there. That society does not care to treat addicition although it has become one of the deadliest diseases in Canada. If Ontario offered safe, clean places to detox maybe it would change a life. Maybe I would have stayed however, after my first experience at the Glendale House I am so shocked wondering if there are clean safe places to go. It also seemed most of the staff did not care for the people trying to fight their disease. The house made me lose hope and what you are about to read is 100% true and honest. I cannot even beleive the conditions I saw but I hope something can be done about this. I will not lose hope and do not want others to lose hope which is why I am writing this. If I do not share this, no one will know and nothing can be done. One staff member agreed and said please share this as something needs to be done. So why is nothing being done? #1 Huge Health Concern The rooms are not inspected or cleaned for each new patient entering. •Feces on the walls in the washroom. •Blood and dirty bandaids on the floor. This is extremely disturbing and people can potentially have Hepatitis, HIV etc. And it can be spread. A bandaid was stuck to my bag and I stepped in blood, as I was so sick and couldnt think clearly to turn a light on and inspect myself. I trusted it was safe. •About 15 peices of dirty used paper towel on the sink and all over the floor. This may be because there is no garbage in the washroom. •Pads on the floor. •A plunger beside the toilet that had written (sink plunger) with dirty water from the toilet on the grou. I pray it was not used in the toilet as the toilet did not flush properly. #2 Safety for Female Patients This house is for females and males however, there was no effort to keep them separated. •A male entered my room multiple time through the night. This first couple of times I thought he worked there until a staff member said "stay out of her room". They made no effort to enforce this as he continued to enter my room throughout the night and in the morning. •One male stood in his doorway and stared into my room at me sleeping for hours. This was made possible as there are no blinds. I do not know the mental health of the patients however, he did not seem mentally okay so I was fearful to sleep. •No privacy as there are no blinds so they covered the doors with sheets. The sheets are white so you can see through them. # 3 No Care There were a lot of staff members however, they did not inspect the rooms for safety or watch for males. The staff stayed in the reception area talking and laughing to each other at all hours of the night. They were so loud with each other all night they ask the patients if they need ear plugs. Going into detox it is extremely difficult to sleep so it is very sad they did not care enough about the patients to keep it down. Instead they would talk and laugh with each other all night. So loud at one point a staff member came into my room laughing saying jokingly "it gets very loud here at night do you want some ear plugs?". So I wake up to see what the noise is and it is the staff in the reception area with no patients around. Anyone who has gone through detox knows one of the worst things is not being able to sleep. To have them not care at all and not be working is very unprofessional and sad. Something needs to be done about this. I came there to detox safely but any place is safer and cleaner then there. It feels like society does not care by allowing the conditions to be so shockingly bad. If anyone knows how to fix this please at least try. Something needs to be done but not even the bare minimum is. If I needed help and left due to the conditions.. how many others did the same? But most have no other option. With hope, Jenn C

Sarah Young

Wait was minimal, staff was absolutely amazing! I suffer from bad anxiety and the doctor was super amazing and calm. The nurse was super cool and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Will be going here always from now on!!! Great job :) doctors name was Falconi, and the nurses name was sarah!

Padraig Corrigan

The staff here are extremely welcoming and infinitely patient, cannot thank them all enough for the help and care I received today.

I was born at that hospital 19 years ago yesterday and Sam was born there 16 years ago in May. In April 2014 when Lara was driving me and Sam to school my butt was in pain and Lara drove me to this place about my it turns out I had to stay home from school for a whole day to get my butt better.

my son came in with a severe cut to his hand by an electrical saw. I was told by the emergency doctor that he would be there for a few days. After waking up from surgery and disoriented my son asked for a phone, to call his family and got out of bed looking for a phone in the hallway, he was not approaching any of the staff, but security was called and viscously beat him severely all caught on camera, crushing his hand again, pinning him down beating him as he is screaming in agonizing pain begging them to stop.. Extreme excessive force was used on my son as shown on the video tape that the 6 of us watched several times over. this seems like a criminal case. this is how they treated my son. He came there because its a hospital where sick people go for care. horrifying to see that tape I'm traumatized. I'm sure my son has PTSD from this

I would think this is the worst hospital in the City of Toronto. My dad went in for a simple procedure but one where he had to stay overnight. Before my mother & I left for the night, we asked if he needed anything. He said he had a bit of a headache. We called the nurse over and asked if they had something for a headache for my father. (Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen). They said they would bring something over. They bought a cup with a couple of tablets. Turns out the tablets were OxyContin. My father had a mild seizure a few hours later and was in a daze for 2 days. It took a few more days before he was back to normal. We were told by a doctor at the hospital is was a mistake. (Cold comfort). Also that there was no reason for concern as all his tests came back 'normal'. A couple of months later he had another mild seizure and went into a daze again. A different doctor at one of the downtown hospitals ran some tests. The result was that he had a series of mild seizures. The doctor put him on a low dose of Keppra. (250 mg two times daily). The seizures stopped. .....but sadly now he has to take an unnecessary prescription drug for the rest of his life. Avoid this hospital if you can.

I wish that there was a photo of the floorplan on their website. It's a little confusing if you don't park in the right area. So here you go. Enjoy my photo of the floorplan and find your way around.

By far the best healthcare service I’ve ever received in and emergency room. Within 3 hrs I was seen treated for 2 different issues and sent home. St. Joseph’s hospital has restored my faith in the Ontario’s health care system. Whatever you guys are doing keep, doing it. It’s working. God bless you all...

I just want to say to all the parents out there, if your child is not feeling well St Joseph hospital is not a place you should go to! On May 31st 2016 my husband took our 4 year old daughter to pediatric department in St Joseph hospital. She was very weak amd vomiting for 2 days, she also was drinking a lot for two week prior and lost weight. He explained all this to the female doctor working at the time. She said it was virus. He repeated about 2 weeks excessive drinking and peeing at night, and doctor said she can not make connection between that and the "virus" she diagnosed. They came home, she wasn't getting better. Next morning she was almost in coma, weak and lost weight overnight. I took her to her pediatrician and half hour later we were on our way to Sick Kids hospital ER with Diabetes diagnosis. We spoke with at least 5 different doctors and all of them said that if a parent tells them a child is drinking and peeing more tham usual, first thing they do is check the sugar. Aparentl some doctors, pediatricians, skipped that class in school, or just lack experience. I am thankfull we went to different doctor, if we listened to that one my child would not be alive today.

Lady Mephisto

The staff are friendly enough (overworked as usual) but this place is a pigsty! Absolutely filthy everywhere I went. The bathrooms are cleaner at McDonald's. The funniest part is when you call the general number, there's an auto message telling us to wash our hands before entering the hospital lol! I've lived in Toronto all my life and have been to a lot of hospitals, but I've never seen one so dirty. You'd have to pay me to have any kind of surgery done there.

Do not come here!! Avoid!! My grandma who does not speak English was admitted here until the end of her time. No interpreter services was provided to her since admission. Because of the no visitor policy, she had no idea why she was in the hospital or what was happening to her. The clock in her room wasn’t even working, she had no way of telling the days or the times or anything. As the days went by, her arms showed more and more bruises which were left unexplained. It was worse than a prison. Staff were also uncompromising and inconsiderate of family dynamics--they put in zero effort to get to know and understand the family. Severe neglect. We had a eVisiting Zoom call and watched her get up and fall from her bed despite us calling the Front Desk prior to request a nurse to enter the room to help her use the washroom. 2 phone calls and 15 minutes later, they came. We asked what happened and they were evasive and rude. No accountability and all patient shame. What kind of palliative care is this? Even when this encounter was reported to the manager, there was no follow-up whatsoever. An absolute disappointment. The screening team is also terrible and does little to welcome you to the hospital. If anything, they’re worse than the bouncers at the club. They will do everything in their capacity to upset you despite the circumstances and will greet you with all the doubt in the world. Why else would anyone show up to the hospital if they weren’t already approved to visit the patient? Screening team needs to learn a thing or two about customer service. Don’t bother telling me to contact Patient Relations because nothing productive will come out of it. I’ve had my fair share of experiences with this department. This hospital needs to re-evaluate their values and missions statement because they’re all talk and no game.

Absolutely filthy! I saw lots of trash laying around the hospital. I often saw the same pieces of trash in the elevators for at least 3 days before being cleaned. The debris underneath furniture and vending machines was astounding. and the grunge on washroom bars was revolting. Further, we found treatment from some staff to be good, but from others to be truly disgusting to the point I had to file 3 formal complaints. After our experiences, I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. Also, no need to ask me to send details to patient relations, I already put in formal complaints.

Waste of time. I literally came in at 6 am cause I have a really bad ear infection. The nurses were kid enough to let me lay on a hospital bed and check up on me but the doctor didn’t do anything besides check my ear and give me painkillers. I’ve spoken to plenty of professional nurses after that and they were baffled by how careless the doctor was by not providing me with any antibiotics to get rid of the infection. I literally could have cured this a long time ago if the doctor gave me a proper prescription. She just told me that it’ll go away on its own. What a joke. I’m going to Toronto western next time.

Ghazal Bina

There is only one nurse in the emergency room that cares a lot about the patients and her name is Hasti. The rest don't really care although the patient might be in a very situation. It takes them a long time to even bring you water or iv or anything else that is necessary.

I have found that if you give the staff the respect they have earned, then you will receive the respect you deserve. I have dealt with St. Joseph's Health Centre since 1978.

ignore all selfish entitled motherf'ers leaving 1 star reviews for a hospital that is here to help and treat you, and potentially save your life and has been saving many others while battling this pandemic, and risking their own lives.

I had an Appt. with a professional & had to find the office, this took 2 different volunteers to set me in the right direction. I had to wait for about 45 min. & then had to wait yet again for a simple check up. My appt. was for 2pm ,I didn't get out of my apt till,4:20 pm ! The Dr was very good . This hospital is a very warm & friendly place but it can be very busy .

I got a very bad allergy reaction last week and went to ER here. Nurses and doctor reacted very fast and I got an IV within 10 minutes I arrived. Volunteers are very nice people, they checked you out, kept you company, asked you what you need very often. Everyone helped me that day was polite and friendly. Thanks a lot!

This hospital has been around for decades. They serve Toronto residents, especially those in the west end of the city. #letsguide #covid At this time a photo ID and proof of vaccination is required to enter. In addition it is best to have an appointment made through their central call centre. There are different rules and regulations for visitors so best to check in advance before arrival.

Ratings are suffering due to the age of this hospital. The layout is confusing - to check-in for day surgery you have to make it through the maze of crossing floors and visiting offices on opposite sides of the site. The lack of modern renos makes people feel unclean and unsafe. Can't blame the staff, they still manage to do their job well.

Excellent for your COVID-19 vaccination. Fast. Efficient. Informative. Here's the process, which took about 30 minutes: 1. Give you a mask to put on top of your own mask. 2. Check with you about your personal information. 3. Check your personal information and health card. 4. You wait in line (only 5 minutes) 5. Go to the designated booth to get your vaccination. They give you the letter saying the date you got your vaccine. 6. Get a number and wait for 15 minutes with other people before checking out. Tip: This area is congested and street parking is difficult to find. If possible, have someone drop you off and pick you up. They can enjoy High Park while waiting.

Wonderful hospitality and friendly people and excellent customer service.

Wow! What a dump. Unbelievable when you compare this hospital to those in Peel or Halton Regions. My parents are in Etobicoke so they're always booked to come here, so I had no choice in terms of health care. Okay, so when I take my elderly in-laws to, say, Trillium or Oakville Memorial or Credit Valley Hospital...there is always a volunteer or staff member insisting on a wheel chair for your loved one. Not here - you're on your own with these poor shuffling parents along at a snail's pace. Something out of The Gulag Archipelago. And that's just for starters. You get depressed and frustrated...fast! Parking? Holy Moly! You're double-parked and have to leave your keys with the parking attendant. If that's not bad enough, you have to find him so he can move cars around for you to make space. Then you can't find your way back to your car. And that's with two human popsicles in their eighties melting away in this sweltering heat. Hell's Bells! Then there is always a staff member who doesn't necessarily believe in holding the door open for the doddering geriatric you're accompanying and thanks to my quick reflexes as a failed hockey goalie, I can stick my hand out to prevent that door from slamming shut into my mom's face. I'm one of those super-talented people that can hold a door open for an elderly person with one hand and still clutch my hot cup of coffee on my way to my break with the other. Stay tuned for the upcoming biopic called "Common Courtesy When You Work In A Hospital". My parents are always booked in the oldest part of the hospital, I believe it's seven floors in height. So on the third floor, it is just a mess and constantly under construction. And that elevator that would be ever so handy to transport your mom with her excruciating corns on her feet from one floor to the other...is out of order and also under repair. So off we go to find another one. Plants are dying everywhere, window shaker air conditioners in many of the windows and what shoddy installations they are with peeling duct tape everywhere. HVAC professionals these staff members are not - so increase the funding so these people, and their patients, can be more comfortable. But many, most, of the employees at St. Joseph's are kind of like that neighbour with the 25-year old Toyota Camry that still works. Bumps, and scrapes, and dents, and the bumper tie-strapped together...they're proud of their vehicle and as far as they're concerned...there's nothing wrong with it. It does that job reliably. When your turn finally comes up to see the geriatric physician (tell me, which appointment is on-time nowadays?) there is a level of care that changes my mind about St. Joseph's. You know, warts and all, there are people at St. Joseph's who are friendly and do care about their patients. Visiting St. Joseph's is like hanging around Grossman's Tavern in Toronto. You know the place is a dump, but there's just something about it that, in the end, it's not that bad. These people work hard in a hospital built in the Victorian era. Mr. Ford and Mr. Tory? Don't worry so much about the illegal marijuana dispensaries and get some badly needed funding for St. Joseph's Health Centre. It's super-busy now and there is paltry parking and you guys, the baby boomers, are just coming around the bend to needing this place. And there are 8 million in your generation. So get cracking. 1 out of 5 for decor and upkeep, but a 5 out of 5 for the staffing at St. Joseph's (except for the chicks with the coffees not holding the door open for elderly people). Let's average it out to a 3/5 which is consistent with your existing reviews. And do you know what? After all this? We were three floors down from where both my wife and I were born!

Alison Horn

We had our baby at St. Joe’s a couple of weeks ago and we'd like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Bambao and the OR staff as well as everyone at the Family Birthing Centre. All of the doctors, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, attendants, food service workers, and caretakers provided us with excellent care. We are so grateful for your hard work, dedication, compassion, and patience. Thank you for everything you do.

I had a covid test there. They got everything done in 10 mins, great service, friendly staff. I Highly recommend you to do your test in this centre.

Went in Sunday night after falling off my bike and again on Monday for a follow up at the fracture clinic. Lost one star because of the waiting but I wasn't urgent and I was just getting tired and impatient. It wasn't any longer of a wait than I'd have expected anywhere else in the city. All of the doctors/nurses were friendly and listened to my needs. I've been to emergency rooms where they brush you off because they are on the go so much, I never felt rushed.

It’s a huge hospital.Building is old but it’s kept well.We came here for my mother in law’s surgery and she can’t walk.We were we’re unable to find a wheelchair or any other assistance. She almost passed out because she had to go pretty far.She was booked for surgery at 11:45 but they were running 4 hrs behind. You can walk to the highpark if you will be waiting here for someone for long time.Parking is free at highpark

I brought my son here in St Joes ER last Nov2018 and I am happy with the service. You just have to tell well your idea of the problem. At first my son was just diagnosed with just small problem and was about to be given a cream but I said it was more than that and was referred to a specialist. Good that I said that and was did referred to the right specialist. The specialist was really great under St Joseph Hospital.

I left a review last year after my father had lung surgery... surgery went alright and my father, a great fighter he was, recovered fast and was sent home without performing due diligence, which we came to know afterwards. ** details can be found in the other review. By God's Will my father passed away 3 months after the surgery, though every soul needs to return to our creator, but one thing still hurts that the hospital must have done the job it supposed to. After my first review, someone did reach out to me, but after that I have no idea if they ever took the matter seriously, and review their policies for future. I only hope that apparently a minor mistake that can cause lots of trouble could be saved.

Booking a vaccination appointment...They are wasting everyone's time with a 1 hour wait time in a queue to start booking...Then they say no appointment is available...wasted a lot of time patiently waiting on my computer for 1 hour in the queue for the web page to allow you to start booking. ...immediately they can say " Sorry no appointments available...try again next thursday 7.00 pm when the waiting list is updated." Bad experience.

Definitely one of the better hospitals. I've had appointments with various doctors and they were all super experienced professionals. I've used their emergency services, eye clinic, neurology and family/birthing centre and they were all great compared to some of the other hospitals. Not the biggest fan of their ophthalmologist and one of the staff at eye clinic is super rude (more than once) but other than pleasant experience over all. Parking is okay, busy of course in the mornings, lunch etc. There are free 1hr parking around the building, but not always available.

My father had a lung cancer surgery by Dr. Michael Ko and his associate Dr. David and others. As far as the tea and the surgery itself is concerned; we have no issue or concerns. Everything was done with a great zeal, professionally and with empathy. However, one thing that's making us concerned is what happened after the surgery. My father was shifted in a room after the sugery and looking at his great imprivement or seemigly great improvement he was discharged after a couple of days. No assessment was done to see if he was in need of oxygen supply at home. As said above that it was his lung cancer surgery where a piece of functional lung was removed from his right lung lower lobe. Two days after we had him back at home he fell unconcious, of course due to a drastically low level of oxygen. In fact, my father is having another lung condition called, Lung Fibrosis, which, of course was known to the hospital, and prior to the surgery we were told that he might be in need of oxygen supply for a bit longer time than usual. Yet, he was sent home without a proper assessment in this regards. Anyhow, he was rushed to the Emerg by an ambulance and then he spent 2 weeks in the hospital. At that time we requested a proper assessment, and they did find out that he would have to have oxygen at all the time. He is improving day by day by The Grace of God; woever reads it please do pray for him as you pray for your loved ones. He could have been even better if he would have given the oxygen at first place. Lastly, I would like to say that I wrote this review only for a positive cause, so the hospital does its work next time with other patients. As I said the team of surgeons did everything with empathy and great deal of professionalism. Even after that incident when my father was taken to Etobicoke hospital; Dr. David did call us a few times and communicated with the staff of Etobicoke hospital for updates and possible input.

Do not waste your time on getting your covid test done here. It has been a week since I got my test done and I have not gotten my results back yet. I called the number they provided multiple times and left a message but they haven’t got back to me.

great staff and never boring. you can see a woman dressed head to toe in Prada and in the same blink of an eye a woman wearing her underwear on the outside caring a Mickey mouse stuffy lol

I've had one good, quick experience at this hospital... Which doesn't say much considering I've been to it at least a half dozen times. The facilities are old and decaying, the place feels like it's kinda falling apart. A couple of my visits have been, still to this date, the longest periods of time I've spent in a Hospital (discluding treatment). Overall it seems slow, outdated, and just makes for a rough time. As I have had experiences with a number of hospitals in Toronto, I can safely say that this is my absolute last choice.

MeShell Gudz

Had to go here to get ultrasounds done because my midwife (with Midwife Alliance) was partnered with this hospital. It was a terrible experience every time. I avoided ultrasounds because of how awful their process is and what their ultrasound techs are like. Going there for ultrasounds is still one of my worst memories from when i was pregnant. They wont let you bring anyone in with you, they wont let you see the monitor, they do not care if you are uncomfortable, it's dark, and it is cold. It is certainly not a mother or pregnant person friendly process - I would never go back voluntarily. I'm sure it's fine if you need to get digital imaging of your knee or something else, but this wasn't some neutral growth I needed to have looked at. Lots of room for improvement. I had one ultrasound experience at a different place (downtown) and it was like night and day so I knew it was possible to have a positive experience - the tech was kind, the let me actually see their mysterious computer, and they would have been fine with me having a support person with me.

melanie sakowski

Melissa from fracture clinic is an angel, as is the imaging receptionist. No words, simply huge gratitude for Love. Also, the hot food bar chef had a wicked homemade sesame hot sauce...#itsthelittlethings ????

Service fairly good all around. A little slow some times and that's because of the extra refugees that are sick & don't speak English. When I was a kid service was so much faster all around.

My wife and I took our Covid Test on September 4th 2020, and both of us still haven't received our results. It has currently been 10 days with no news what so ever, and more than a week of missed work. Every time we call we get redirect to a voicemail, but have yet to have any of our calls returned. Should I retake the test? Did they lose it? We are getting no transparency about what is being done. The websites say 3-7 days, yet when we call nothing is done?

Melissa Nicholl

Not my favourite hospital in Toronto when it comes to service and cleanliness. The two times I've had to visit their ER, the attending doctor was cocky, arrogant and appeared to not really care. Because of this, I have a fracture in my foot that wasn't set and didn't heal properly.

Very good green jello. Red and yellow are okay. Orange is shockingly poor. Also, these people are obsessed with giving you inordinate quantities of lukewarm juice instead of the mediocre but still far superior broth. And the kitchen closes way too early to fix the many mistakes. AND THERE'S GRAPE JUICE. But you won't see it on a proportionate basis, because for some reason landing on 00 has better odds. Billing department is incompetently inefficient. Everyone has an individual phone number, you can't get through, they all go home early, and they send you multiple notices for bills within 30 days, even if you've already paid them. It is terribly managed. Kids clinic is staffed by terrific doctors and admin staff who are just putting in their time. Terrible customer service upfront followed by terrific medical care. Emerg staff are terrific. Especially the nurses. Wait times suck. But the staff are off the charts kind and competent. Someone should win the lottery and donate a gorgeous staff lounge. Inpatient staff are almost all terrific. Good, competent doctors with great follow-up and good admin staff. Occasional bad apple nurse seems to persist due to seniority. Maternity is mostly great. Like the other inpatient nurses, 90% amazing, 5% laissez-faire, and 5% seniority protected. Great delivery staff. Donated coin snacks are nice, except for the snacks themselves. Maybe they're kept mediocre so staff aren't tempted. The Hydrotherapy Tub Room has been out of service for the birth of every single one of our children. Parking is awful. The new garage is shockingly small. The old garage is shockingly full. And smelly. Second Cup is terrible. But it might be terrible everywhere. But still, just replace it with better.

Pretty good hospital. I love staffs require all people change to the masks that hospital provided. The masks are good! Can I know which band it is? LOL

Fast service. Great staff. Convenient location right off highway. Very good pain management post surgery. Food trays for inpatients not the best. Bring your own snacks!

I requested my paramedic team to take me to St Josephs, after a night of experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Upon arrival at St Josephs, I was immediately upset with the overall cleanliness and organization of the hospital. Due to my symptoms, I was put in the "fast track" ER waiting area, which was said to help patients meet with the Doctor much faster. I arrived at the hospital at 9:30 pm and was released at 6:00 am, after I'd been given medication to reduce pain. I was incredibly drowsy and the Nurses/Doctor were absolutely unprofessional. If my boyfriend had not been there, I'd have remained slouching on a wheelchair all night. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this hospital. The washrooms, floor, and rooms are very dirty, covered in old blood stains, the patient bedding is discolored and old. It would seem as if the whole emergency section was used as a cafeteria for toddlers. I am unimpressed and do not recommend at all.

Kelly

While the staff is pleasant and helpful, the hospital itself is filthy and disgusting. Had to pick up a friend the other day there at emergency. He was horrified the area he was in had feces on the wall. Another friend happened to be leaving at the same time. She was there for 8 hrs and said the room she was put in had blood droplets on the floor and desk, she was so afraid to touch anything. This is not including the dust covering the room and old computer that most likely hasn't worked for years sitting in the room. I myself walked around the hospital and found areas completely empty and almost abandoned looking kinda creepy to say the least. I've gone as far to let my family members know never to bring me there in case something happens to me.

christopher dobbs

My brother Lawrence Dobbs passed away On Jan 20, 2017. The Oncology staff, Social worker and nursing staff were incredible. Special thanks to Dr Lingas, and two nursing staff, who cared for Larry as much as I did. The nursing staff : Eugene and Angelia. They took care of him moment to moment in my absence. Bless them both.

Nightmare..... I was there for eye trauma. Waited 5 hours and calling me 2 times just to show that they are working but actually so unprofessional work done from nurses and doctors. Because is free services that doesn't mean you have to wait all night for something that it takes couple minutes for examination. Condition very bad and rude behave from the staff.

Amazing place and great pepole and have helped me and my famliy so many times

Igor Sverdlov

Worst hospital ever! Better go to veterinary clinic then this place! Came there with 40° feather. The waiting room dirty , lots of garbage on the floor and under the seats! Blood stains on curtains in survey room. Dirty wals and doors! Wait from 11pm till 5 am. They even didn't offer me a antipyretics! Doctor came to see me around 5 am after all patients left and I was waiting alone for few hours and keep asking nurses for help. He spent maybe few minutes with me and told there is nothing serious with me. After two days I was dying at home, i call for home visit doctor and he told me that I have bronchitis! The medicine in Canada is garbage because it's free! It's impossible to get good service for free! Better pay for it and get professional care!

In health care our top priorities, above all else, are to keep our patients, residents and our people safe and deliver high-quality care. As a new network, we have the opportunity to set goals to do this across three sites, allowing us to build off of one another’s strengths and share best practices across our teams. This Quality Improvement Plan is the first for our new network between Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital, and it identifies measurable steps we will take over the next year to create a safer environment to deliver care, and to improve patient and resident experience.

The staff here are very helpful and friendly, I went here twice for screening purposes. Both times the experience was pleasant. The seem to be very well organized, the hospital is cleaned the specialists know what they are doing. I was in and out in a very short time. Parking was easy both time, but at a few.

Susan Wheeler

Excellent care from nurses, med students and surgical staff for recent day surgery. The hospital facilities may not be new or grand but the staff make up for it. All were very thorough and very efficient. Checked my ID bracelet against my paperwork at least 5 times to ensure they were giving me the correct treatments and meds.

Hatem Zawdeh

Outstanding caring of patients. They get to the bottom of things. Thank you ????

This afternoon....After triage in emerg....a nurse called out my moms name...calling the first name twice...pronouncing it totally different (btw name is short n not that tricky sounding...it is pronounced as it is spelt). Every other staff addressed patients first and last name. I went to speak to the nurse since no one answered that call. She was looking for my mom as I suspected. I did not mind that she mispronounced her name. But the nurse looked annoyed that we had not responded earlier. I mentioned that the name was mispronounced. What took me by surprise was her reaction “it is the same”. Even after correcting her she still went on using her own pronounciation stating same line as above. I felt she was very indifferent/ignorant/arrogant. I also felt it was was very unprofessional on her part but I had other stresses to keep me occupied and did not engage her further.

Went there with my 4 year old. Er doc, did not order a test as discussed. So blood had to be drawn again from a four year old. The two nurse wiggled this needle and couldn't get blood. I was pissed off and my son was sooo upset. So now the pediatrician came and asured me a mire senior nurse will take the blood. The blood was drawn successfully but after an hour and half of waiting, they came again and told me the wrong test was done, they not suee who's mistake it was. At ghat point, I toom my traumatized 4 year old , with 5 sore needle holes and two sore arms, out of there!! I went to Toronto western, they are fast and made no mistakes. I will drive a bit further in the future than go to that hospital filled with idiots!

Lorena Barrientos

I received excellent care in this hospital’s emergency room. With one exception, I was unlucky to have a very poorly trained Triage Nurse. As the first point of contact upon my arrival, she showed an extreme lack of respect and professionalism. Thankfully the rest of the staff including receptionists nurses and doctors were exceptional. Thank you!

Alexandra Bautista

Everyone working at the testing center was super friendly! However, wait times are extremely long. I went to the center on 3 different occasions. The first occasion I got there around 5:30 PM, to only be turned away because they were at capacity. Second time I arrived around lunch time and the line was extremely long and figured that I should just try again in the morning. I got to the test center around 7:00 AM and the line up was already behind the back of the building. However, line went pretty quickly and I got out of the center around 9:15 AM. Try coming in the morning as early as possible to ensure you aren't waiting for hours.

Rayyana Abdikarim

I was born there and would 100% recommend , I ended up perfect

bobux man

Waited 2 hours for help in the ER with a popped out kneecap. Got put beside a old man that was yelling the whole time.

I was born in this hospital in 2008 of July. I would rate this 5 starts or more because this hospital is where my life all started in. I see the bad reviews but that's okay... It's your expreince and thoughts. I have 4 siblings and they all were born here in this hospital! Like I said, It's your thoughts and that you may keep public as you wish.

Chris PL

The doctors at St. Joe's are more interested in making money than they are in treating patients. I felt like I was just a number and not a person.Usually over-packed. Unless its a serious emergency expect a long wait to have anything treated. Its hit and miss with ER Dr's, though for the most part you will get a good one who knows his stuff. Nurses are also most of the time wonderful and willing to go the extra mile to keep you comfortable and well.

Rosalia Hong

It was a few months back when this happened. I visited to get my appointed covid test. The guy who was getting my information as I hand over my health card was rude and not friendly and to think about it even the security guy at the entrance was not nice. Anyways, it was my turn to be moved to a space to be tested. The nurse asked me a few questions before the testing and one of the questions she asked me was appalling. She asked me if I spoke English when I was clearly speaking English with her. To be honest the nurse (white skinned) had some accent and I spoke better English than her. I didn’t find that professional how she would assume and ask me that just because I’m Asian. I wish I would have reported right away. Also the tone she was speaking to me was as if I’m not intelligent enough to understand her. I felt really uncomfortable and it was clearly a racist attack.

COVID-19 Instructions Unclear I got tested and was told to check on their health portal (mychart.ca) for results. I finally used the ministry website (Public Health Ontario), and found my results were posted 1 day after the test. Would have been good to know before, but at least the test was fast.

VERY slow service at emergency wing. Came here on a Tuesday night due to my partner not being able to breathe with a fever and sharp chest pains.. hes had this sickness for 3 days and it has escalated so we decided to go to the hospital just to make sure everything was okay. We have been currently waiting for over an hour and a half just for a doctor to come see us when every other patient has been seen already. There were even patients who came before us that were atleast seen by a nurse. When I asked reception of a rough estimate of when we could expect to see a doctor he wouldn't even give me the time of day. The emergency room only has a few patients. Although I don't know hospital procedures or reasoning as to why we still have yet to see a doctor. I do know that when I see the staff joking around with eachother and laughing away while patients still need to be seen is something I dont appreciate. Not professional at all.

Isa Benn-Moja

I went into anaphylactic shock and was told by the nurses that were "caring" for me that I was being dramatic, as I fell into a coma. They kept yelling "Get up. It's not that bad." I woke up in the resuscitation unit, hours later, and the same nurses were eating the allergen they knew I was fatally allergic to... in front of me. I've skipped over some gory details but, it was shameful what happened to me. Though, it happens to many - especially women of colour, and particularly black women.

VS2015 M.

I’ve never seen a more chill and laid back emergency center of a hospital. I felt like I was at a bookstore; everyone was just walking around, no rush, no concern - nothing. I don’t know who runs this place but this was a prime example of our terrible healthcare system. I’ve seen more diligence and rush at a Starbucks. God forbid I ever have to use St Joseph. Please try finding another hospital.

J Flo

Had to go here for pre-admission testing. Right from my experience parking up to leaving I was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot attendants were very helpful and not the usual grumpy old men you get at other hospital parking locations. The staff that I dealt with were excellent; all of them friendly and competent. The hospital was very clean and even parts where it's older, it's still clean and in good repair. It gives me confidence to have my surgery there, so i'm feeling very reassured.

I highly recommend St. Joseph's Health Centre. I broke my arm at 8:30 pm and was seen by an ER doctor (who used liquid stitches to quickly seal my facial lacerations), x-rayed, examined by an orthopedic specialist, then fitted with a cast within 12 hours (in 2 visits). The follow-up physiotherapy through St. Joseph's Outpatient Clinic with Melanie Ellwood was absolutely incredible. She put so much effort and care into healing me as quickly and fully as possible, and consultations with a second surgeon and physiotherapist confirm that I am progressing ahead of schedule thanks to the wonderful care I received. The many follow-up x-rays, appointments and sessions with Dr. Roscoe (orthopedic surgeon) and Melanie make me confident that I am getting the best care possible. The lack of bathrooms (and cleanliness) needs improvement, and the ER waiting area is restrictively small, but these complaints are minor when contrasted with the healthcare I received.

Professional staff and professional service received at the Fracture Clinic. Dr. Lopez and his team are kind, patient and willing to explain in details your health situation and alternatives. Waiting time is yet challenging, but I guess patients are aware throughout hospitals. Service in the ED was fast and thoughtful. TTC accessible, parking available at normal tariffs.

Came in for severe throat inflammation - got prescribed medicine that didn't help - ended up in excruciating pain for a full week. Would not recommend visiting.

Venessa Rampersad

I have been sitting in emergency for the past 6 hours, the girl beside me has been here for 10 hours. I asked how much longer and the nurse was so rude. They staff have a "I don't care" attitude. The hospital is disgusting and patients are packed in the waiting area like sardines. One nurse was too busy on her phone, she got in trouble from a doctor for inputting the wrong patient information. I would rather pay for health care than come back to this nasty emergency room.

I fuc*ing hate this hospital, like every hospital the waiting time is a huge pain and for you to get a blood test your going to wait about 8 hours (it happened to me before). Another thing is where the hell are all the staff, yesterday my mom got a massive stomachache that she couldn't even stand up from, and after calling the ambulance they took her to this cancerous hell btw this happened at 3am, and from there I came to visit my mom at 10pm after work, I found out that she has been in some kind of waiting room THE WHOLE DAY!!!!!!! When I ask her whats going to happen she said they have to do some kind of x-ray (I'm not exacty sure what it was they have to do but it has something to do with it) that apparently they don't do on weekends, what the hell she came on a Friday and she had to wait all weekend just for them to do something like this? It is because of THIS hospital that I despise all hospitals. I swear if I get shot I will tell the doctors, police or whomever to send me home because I'm going to die at home through the blood loss and if I go to this hospital I'm going to die waiting through blood loss. Only reason why I am giving it a 2 star is because the staff are actually respectable, for now that is

I used the ER last night & out of concern I have to give a low rating. I waited 6 hours (and without a mask, despite me asking for one) then was sent home with aspirin. Luckily I decided to go to a walk-in clinic today. who quickly diagnosed bilateral bacterial pneumonia. I feel bad for the other people who were exposed to me, as well as myself for wasting a lot of time. I will not be back, feel a lack of trust in the ER & I'm not a person who likes to fight battles. Disappointing

Sam Kilmurray

All of the staff I have encountered on 2 occasions were great with kids (and the parents of course). Even under the circumstances right now we were finished in the ER and on our way home within an hour.

Betty McPherson

In for appendicitis - Doctors were attentive, friendly & skilled. Nurses were amazing for post surgery care. I was surprised as most people do not rave but amazing facility and the new wing is great.

Marsha Cummings

Went to the birthing centre for a shot around noon. They didn't even have the shot ready and kept telling me about every 20 minutes someone is just gone to get it... An hour and a half later I decided to leave. Please prepare for the days appointments!

Damaged Soul

I first experienced St.Joes through the ER and I didn't like the hospital. Then I dealt with the Oncology department and I have a much better opinion of the hospital now.

Tashena Jelani

I have a severe laceration to my leg. Called the switchboard looking for assistance on whether getting a ride to the hospital or whether I should just call an ambulance and the response was “I can’t help you make that decision.”

Leandro de Godoi Mendes Silva

1st time at this hospital, and I am sure it will be the last. I got here at the emergency at 2:45pm (following my family doctor recommendation) with a severe back pain. Now, it is 6:15pm and I still waiting sitting in a chair. My pain is much worse, and no medication was prescribed yet. This is a horrible service. On top of everything, people does not respect face cover. I thought I should feel safe here, but I actually don’t.

Deepa Iyengar

Emergency department staff are not friendly at all. They keep shifting us to 4 different rooms before we actually get to see the doctor. And even if you are registered once and you have a ID, you will have to do the step 1 of Registration all over again. However, the doctors are highly knowledgeable and very very friendly. One day, I spent an entire day to see the doctor and the other day, i reached the hospital at 10 am in the morning and my Ultrasound was done at 9pm. After waiting for extremely long hours with no Cafeteria open, the nurses didn't even respond good.

Ashley Lattanville

They try to rush you out of the hospital after birth. Are rude and most have no manners. I had an overworked anesthesiologist who poked me wrong during an epidural causing a natural birth to turn to an emergency c section.

The first time I went I was in excruciating pain and the surgeon said I needed surgery. After three days (yes THREE days) in the ER, with no bath, without water or food ( I was on an IV), I was transferred out of the windowless, former storage closet into a room straight out of American Horror Story. I used the shared facilities and was disgusted by the state of them - which by the way included the SAME urine samples that were left by the radiator the entire time I was on the floor. After four days of this horror show I was finally offered a shower - only to find the shower was the same place they stored those seats they roll over toilets for people who need assistance. Anyway, after all of this, they canceled it altogether. Several months later, I found myself back in the ER with the same issue - when I "came to" I found I was lying on bloody gauze (I was not bleeding) and a used syringe. Disgusting. I was there for many, many hours with maybe one visit from a surgeon - who again said, I needed surgery "soon". I discharged myself. After finally getting the date for the surgery secured (note: the first question the surgeon asked me was "Have you Googled me? I'm sure you have.), the OR nurse came out a full 90 minutes AFTER my surgery was supposed to start to say the surgeon has fallen behind and it was cancelled and I was to "call back" to see when he could fit it in. So, I am literally trying to do that as I am writing this ....and since I have been on hold with the hospital for 27 min and 46 seconds I have the time....

Mario Alea Jr.

Too much waiting. Just collecting urine sample takes 3 hours just to pick up ny urine sample and another 5 hours for result

One of my worst experience ever, especially at a time like this. Came in by ambulance around 2 am this morning with tightness and shortness of breath in my chest and back and at 1pm I'm still here waiting feeling worse . I had to ask about my results repeatedly and tell them repeatedly over and over about my chest and how I was having problems caughting my breath. Differently not coming back here. Hell no!

Wendy Dav

I have been to St. Joe's on numerous occasions relating to issues such as a leg infection, intense fibroid pain, mental health issues, intense migraines and more and I must say that this hospital excels at taking care of expecting mother's and infants -- this is where they are best. The ER is hit or miss at times and the waits can be excruciatingly long and bureaucratic but all in all they do try to help and while there are some flaws, it is clear that they have implemented steps and procedures to assist and rectify issues but this is still the main hospital I would choose if I needed medical assistance on an urgent level. My one main suggestion is that they work on improving their assistance for those with mental health issues; less just prescribing drug after drug and more of a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and talk-based therapy.

Kim Gaudette

For my first visit to St Joseph Health Centre I found everyone that came into contact with was ever friendly and helpful and acted professional in every way possible. I have to back for surgery this coming Monday. I am looking forward to my next visit & stay in the hospital

One of the WORST hospitals I've ever been to. I was really ill earlier in the year and went there because it was the closest emerg. They sent me away the first time with pain pills for a rupurted ovarian cyst (no anti-biotics). I waited over 12 hours (and was told I could not eat or drink) to see a gynecologist because the nurses and what not never informed/reminded him that I was still waiting (even tho I approached them several times to check up on the situation....they got frutraited with me and weren't very friendly...they were more interested in chatting it up with each other than doing THEIR JOBS). So the gyno comes and he had NO IDEA that I was waiting that long and was disappointed in the staff for keeping me in the waiting room so long and not notifiying him. Anyways, I left with nothing but pain pills...a few days later my symptoms got way worse so I go back...at this point I started bleeding. The intake lady insisted I got in a wheelchair to which I declined. She tried to talk my boyfriend into FORCING me into a wheelchair and it caused a big scene. Once I got into a bed they told me I was gonna get an ultrasound but when they discovered a uti in my urine test they ignored the original reason I was there and never checked why I was bleeding, no ultrasound. I was sent home then with anti-biotics for a bladder infection. Also, during this visit, one of the nurses was really rough with me and even shook and me and slapped my arm (with an iv in it...). She was being playful with the slep but uhm hello, boundries? Not to mention the fact that I was in immense pain and she slapped the needles in my arm. So I left again. A few days later I got even worse to the point all I could do is scream in agony...I couldn't take myself to the bathroom or even brush my own hair, it was THAT BAD. This time around I chose to go to a different hospital (Mt. Sinai) where I was instantly addmitted and kept for a few days or so. They got a whole team on me immediately. I got disagnosed with a rupturtled ovarian cyst (which had not leaked fluid throughout my pelvis and caused internal bleeding and blood loss because St. Joe's didn't treat it). They also found the uti which spread an infection into my kidneys because St. Joe's apparently have me the wrong medication. Next, they found pneumonia, and heart issue (dilated aorta). This occured in April's and I'm still struggling with it today. Last week I was found to have gullbladder problems and I have an other heart condition that apparently I was born with? Anyways, DON'T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! You have been warned.

Helen Pohl

Went to emergency. They put me through quickly. Doctors and nurses were nice and helpful.

S Mills

I never write reviews but reading all the bad ones I wanted to write one on my experience since it was quite the opposite. I was seen in the ER by a female doctor. She was super helpful and really nice, answered all my questions and which helped my anxiety go away. all the nurses were nice as well

Richard Roblin

Pick wife up from surgery and all the nurse says with my wife drugged is - Are you ready to go home - several times - Interpreted as, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out" - Disappointing. Surgery seemed to go well

Cal Laidman

Incompetent, forgot to send over medical reports from a surgery that my wife had there that could have put her life in jeapordy.

George Hass

Where is our MP to Check what Citizen how Suffer-from Hospital Service And patient Care No translator in Multi Culture nations No Communication For Family with patients What is it?

i know its long time due but i had to say it...i was there 2yrs ago went in to emergency with my flu. i was so sick that i could barely stand straight and i was there for like 4 hrs and still nothing was happening...what was mind boggling was the emergency was full of patients some with lot of pain and these doctors and nurses were discussing about their vacations n what movies they r going to watch on netflix..tbh i checked out myself and never went back again..n i never will...

Howard Thompson

Hernia and an ankle fracture with surgery for both. Other kid stuff along the way. They seem like a good hospital from my experience; balanced with a view that most hospitals have their problems.

Michael S.

My mum broke her hip and was taken to St Joseph's. The wait time for surgery was a bit longer than normal, probably because of issues to do with the pandemic, but she got her hip repaired and we're really happy about that. Her care has been excellent I really appreciate the work of the nurses, the orderlies , the support staff and the doctors, continuing to come in every day despite the incredible workloads and stress and burnout of the last 18 months. Thank you for your service.

J Altafuya

Called to get information about my elderly father who had gone alone to the ER. Cannot what so ever get through. The only person who answers confirms he is there and says will transfer you to his nurse. Over an hour wait I had to hang up. Could not get in. Had to call again to the emergency department where I was told they are very busy right now and they will call me when they can. I AM FULLY AWARE THEY ARE BUSY HELLO?!!?! THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE DYING?! MY FATHER CAN BE ONE OF THEM AND I CANT EVEN GET THROUGH TO ANYONE TO GIVE ME INFORMATION!?!!?!!? RIDICULOUS

Jerry Pepper

Sent me to collections for a bill i paid the day of... spent more time and money trying to prove i paid it. Account payable staff are incompetent and stuck in the stone age using paper, staples and folders. Better go to another hospital if possible. If you get referred to a doctor that uses their facilities ask for a different referral.

Ryan Hernandez

This is such a very poorly run hospital. Every time I’ve gone to this hospital it’s been a bad experience. Most recently my wife had a very badly broken foot and was showed the X-ray. Then told to go home and come back the next day to get a cast. Never heard of a hospital explaining to you what’s wrong then telling you to go home and fix it next time.

ASHLEY KPOBI

Just had my second baby at St. Joseph's 4th child in total, Wouldn't say its completely a bad experience also not the best. I had a c-section friday at 6:45pm and the first night got a student nurse who was as lazy as they come, everything i asked her to do she didn't do or brought me supplies and left them for me to take care of myself. Left blood all over the floor and side of my bed, I was covered in blood and she handed me towel and fresh dressing to clean myself up and change myself. Sorry but after a c-section you cannot change your own dressing and clean yourself properly because your frozen from the waist down for 6hours. Took 2hrs to get my pain meds because apparently she was busy. My baby is in the NICU an I live far away over an hour, got discharged on Sunday at 8am not even 24hrs after surgery, after I stressed my concerns and the fact that I'm in excruciating pain and wish to not be discharged I was still discharged. I told the NICU nurse I need a room which I got but wasnt guaranteed to keep it if someone else needs it, which makes no sense as I told her I live to far away to come back and forth so obviously I need the room.

Rashawn Farquharson

Had a seizure and was brought to this hospital. When I gained consiousness again i tried to speak to the nurses about my seizure. They dismissed all concerns and kicked me out of the hospital at around 12:10 am. I ended up having another seizure on the street in the middle of the night (scary) which brought me back to the hospital. Dont know who called the ambulance but when I woke up my body ended up feeling ALOT worse. I had to leave again around 7am. The address they had on file was old so im not sure what other old info they were going off of. Wouldnt recommend those docs to anyone after that experience.

What place kicks out a person in pain Shame , God is watching.

Violet Backwell

I go and see a doctor about my sinuses and they can't even pronounce my last name correctly. I told them a couple of times that they miss pronounce it wrong. They should look at my last name before they call me. They put an another L between the b and the a. They should wear glasses. At one point I called the ACC to cancel my appointment and I didn't give the person who answered the phone my phone number. It's frustrating that people still do the same after you complain about the same person. I wish that I could give no stars.

Roman Yukich

Took elderly mother to ER. She was in a lot of pain Expected her to be put in a bed Instead someone at registration without consulting a doctor decided to put her in wheelchair and go to super fast track. My mother was miserable sitting in a wheel chair because of her back pain .I had to pursue staff to take her back to the section with beds

Sonia Szkorla

St Joe's is the only hospital I would ever go to. My family and I have been treated so extremely well over the years. Anyone complaining about wait times? If you're waiting, you're not dying! You're just selfish. Its not a first come first serve drive through. Most problems can be seen and treated at a clinic or your family doctor. A rectal abscess can wait, a person who is not breathing, can't. Be grateful for your health care and use it wisely.

Lulu De Luca

I can't believe I experienced such disgusting, judgmental attitude. So this is what happened, I had a terrible side - effect from a drug so I called 9/11 on myself. The patient confidentiality was the first to break. They requested for a background check, it came clear. The doctor however said to CHECK AGAIN. I can't believe the staff were blatantly gossiping about me, wanting me to hear. This other young Chinese doctor kissed her teeth at me. The whole hospital even the PSWs were gossiping about me. I completely understand what I did is wrong and illegal and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But as a professional...loudly making sleazy jokes is just wrong. They left me in the hallway, no one was talking to me or checking up on me.....I was literally crying. The doctor and his female colleagues were making up stuff about my life and one by one passing by throwing a comment. It's disgusting to even write here. No one put me in a room. I had to go to the other section to find myself a pillow. I'm just really thankful I happened to take videos and snap chats of the racism and ignorance. I feel very strongly about using social media as a platform! Felt like I was in a third world country ....STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL!!!!

I visited a family friend on 3M on the weekend and it seemed like I was not in a North American hospital. It was like a fish market there and while some of the nurses were great, I can see that they were understaffed and overworked. The unit itself is old and I'm not even sure if housekeeping exists there. I saw one of the nurses cleaning the floors with Clorox wipes. This unit needs to be audited. While I was sitting down waiting for my family to say goodbye, a nurse walked off the elevator and started arguing with the other nurses at the front desk in front of patients and families. Unprofessional is an understatement. Phones were ringing with no one answering, the nurses were running back and forth trying to take care of their patients. There was no clerk in sight so I don't know how they get administrative stuff done and I wonder if stuff is missed. If you have no one to advocate for you, don't go to this hospital because you really have to be on top of everything because it seems like things will get missed here with their poor management.

Have unfortunately visited many hospitals in Toronto over the past 10 years and in terms of care and attention found St. Joseph's the worst. Incorrect information from doctors including wrong diagnosis, requests for tests and then results disappear. If you ask to see a doctor, expect to wait a few hour, or just give up as they will probably forget you in the meantime. If you have a choice, go to any other of the other hospitals in the downtown area, especially if your condition is serious.

If your child is 2 and over i do not recommend going here. In the past i have experienced a peace of mind in the care my infant was receiving, as he grew the urgency to his care after they combined both the adult and kid section is AWFUL. Today is the last time i am seeking medical care from this location. My son woke up out of his sleep having trouble breathing nose bleeding and an awful cough even though after me rushing to get us out the house to the emergency he had started breathing a little better still nervous i decided to take him to St.Joseph's to be sure everything was ok i got there 6am i was met by a fowl smell of pee in the waiting area from a homeless man who peed himself in the wheel chair and was not sitting on one of the chairs in the hospital robe from what i observe he kept talking to himself i decided to sit facing him for my peace of mind. He was scratching himself and kept watching me i looked away only to glance back to see him looking at my child touching himself then he exposed his private i got up and made receiption aware they kicked him out. shortly after i was transferred to the kids waiting area one child was ahead of mine at the time but i forgot they COMBINE the care. Regardless i was seen by a Dr in a timely manner advised of what medication was going to be given to my child but not why. 730 came this is when they did the switch off nurses no one made me aware. I came aware of this when two female nurses didnt even introduce themselves or read my sons chart said your holding the mask wrong and "she" is not going get the medicine fully. I smiled because the prior nurse before the switch advise me hold it over my sons mouth as long as i can and if he fights just hold it close to his face. They walked in and provided opinion based on assumption just like calling him a her at this point a smile was my response they passed back again with judgement same comment and called my child a her AGAIN. Because i didnt know who they where and didnt respond i feel the attitude began from their part itried explaining the interaction i had with the previous nurse but she was dismissive and said she would look at my child in 15mins and call the Dr. 30mins later no one came back i went back to the front only to see the same nurse checking on a new patient so i went to the other nurse that was with her and i explained no one has came back she responded this is how the emergency works and someone will check on "her"soon i snapped i said this ia my son it went over her head no apology and she said i know its your aon but if something happens we are not responsible. i decided to entertain her comment. waited another half an hour no one had came by it is now 830 i advised the nurse i am not moving from the front desk clearly they were losing track of their patients they called thw Dr he said wait 15mins i waited half an hour more even though she did contact the dr on 20mins she decided not to tell me his response because she didnt want me upset. he came at 9 and asked me whats my rush to leave usually they wait an hour i said you nurses kept refferring to my son as a female,no one advised me of the wait times you dont know if i have to fill up the meter i could go eat he said it is not his JOB i declined his help and contacted my family DR. If you do visit this hospital look at the sign in the kids waiting room by the fish tank and tell me if they follow those steps. Pay the all day price for parking.

My wife attended for her second ultrasound – this is the standard second ultrasound you get when you're pregnant. We've been fortunate to have several children, so my wife's gone through this several times. Normally it's a very happy joyous occasion, but this certainly wasn't. First it took close to 1.5 hrs before they finally saw my wife – bare in mind this is a scheduled appointment, not a walk-in, and it wasn't busy at all (early in the morning). Secondly, the Ultrasound technician was unpleasant, rough, and actually caused my wife pain on several occasions and seemed completely indifferent to it. Didn't catch her name, but she was a young girl in her mid to late 20's, long dark hair, fair complexation, approximately 5'7", medium build, about ~135 +/- 5 lbs – I'm describing her in case anyone even wants to follow-up and speak with her. Suffice it to say, it was a very unpleasant experience for my wife, me and my children who where their to see their unborn sister or brother. Shame on her/them – I say "them" because I presume management, if they even have any oversight, has not trained their staff properly or do not have appropriate measures in place to ensure adequate and appropriate client services are render. When was the last time you were asked to fill out a survey of how your hospital visit was? When you go to emerge, imaging, etc.. where's the accountability? I guess they don't have to concern themselves the quality of care. Perhaps we should be privatizing the system, at least we'd receive better care, if option to select which facilities actually got our money. Side note: With respect to a previous reviewer (Anthony Ramnarine) asking what to do – you might consider contacting a Med Mal lawyer (medical malpractice) lawyer. Consultations are free, and they'll often take cases on contingency.

This has been my go to hospital for years I gave birth to both my children and still continue to see a specialist monthly, however a few months ago my belonging were stolen from my private room while I was having an exam done because the nurse assumed it was a family member and allowed a complete stranger to enter my PRIVATE room! not to mention the room was filthy and still had someone else's dirty clothes in the closet! today I got a phone call from a collection agency requesting I pay $40.00 for a room I had when I gave birth to my son. there is no way I will pay as I was not reimbursed for my belongings that were stolen (cell phone, money) I followed up with security a few times and they were completely rude and not understanding at all .I am currently looking for a new specialist so I no longer have to go to this horrible hospital!

Phoebe DOM

I wanted to blame the nurse staffs at the birthing centre for not giving me enough information about breastfeeding. I’m blaming one of the nurse staff who introduced my baby with bottle feeding even though she knows that I wanted to breastfeed. the nurse staff should explain to new mothers about the the do’s and t don’t about breastfeeding. That is all.

Kay Sims

I gave birth here 2 weeks ago, and let me tell you, their staff CAN and SHOULD DO WAYY BETTER!... Their day staff seems more vigilant and ready to work. However, their night staff is horrendous, I went into labour around 2am, requested an epidural as I've been in pain for 12hrs, I didn't get anything until the Day staff nurse commenced Her shift. The night nurse completely ignored ME and poked fun at me trying to sleep off my pain. Everytime she came in we spoke and she never mentioned my epidural, but lied and said everytime she came I was asleep. My boyfriend was there the whole time. I got the epidural 5hrs before my baby arrived, she made me endure pain to the last minute. After birth, again the night staff was terrible, when it came to my after care. The nurse whom helped delivered ME (Day shift) was super awesome!!!

Grace Pniewski

The Emergency department was very dirty. There was a used urine container on the floor, the staff just pushed it and the urine spilled out. No one came to clean it up. There are old stains on the walls and curtains. When I asked for a pillow and blanket, I was told they did not have any, just to roll my jacket under my head. Horrible hospital, 3rd world, I have seen much better in China, and Europe. To visit this hospital is taking your chances of catching some disease.

Rhonda Moretti

As with all Emergency departments there's a long wait on occasion. It's difficult to keep such a busy place clean but there have been improvements in this regard. Staff have always been professional, courteous and willing to spend time explaining everything. No Ned ti avoid this hospital especially in an emergency.

Catia Melo

I have been here last week and would not recommend it to a single soul aside from the lack of respect and incompetency that I received throughout the day with blood work / ultra sound. It was worse when the doctor told me I had an ectopic pregnancy and had to treat it medically with no further explanation on the matter . I proceeded to stop before he was quickly rushing out the door and we asked if there is anything else he can explain like why something like this may have occurred and his decency was just bad luck followed by a chuckle. After spending and hr sitting in the room waiting for a "specialist group" and gynecoligist I got a student who came to hear my concerns and questions to which none she can give me and answer on. (Questions asked symptoms/ effects long term and short to me and so forth) she left came back with a resident an hr later who still was uncertain on how to answer my questions.it was only after I demanded to see the gynecologist that they were speaking to did I finally get answers to my questions by the way very vague response and the first thing that she said to me as she entered the room was that it I didn't take the shot the tube could rupture as if I was refusing treatment. Doctors hear need to understand this isn't a fast food chain u don't get in and out especially in situations like this none the less I was told they have afirst pregnancy clinic that I was supposed to be called for to monitory HCG levels after having received the shot I still have had no call and I have reached out .... To any and all first time mothers if you are having any concerns or questions about your pregnancy this is not where you head to get support. By the way my discharge papers were cemetery locations and prayers instead of how to manage the symptoms and side effects of methotrexate which I have managed to discover from doctors I am familiar with and online resources my fiance has found. I'm not one to post bad reviews but I hope noone goes through my experience

debora miranda

I just had surgery done yesterday for my apendix . And what I like to say here is I never felt so grateful to have a amazing team to take care of me. Thank you all ,doctor, nurses , volunteers and other parts involved for the beautiful job you guys done here at St Joseph's. God bless you all. Debora Miranda

By far the worst hospital experience in my lifetime. My boyfriend dislocated his shoulder 5 weeks ago and went into emergency. He was given no pain relief and it took 2 hours and 40 minutes for them to put it back in. All they seemed to be worried about was how we were going to pay and made him sign the payment form while he was under anaesthetic, which in Australia is highly illegal. He was then sent home with absolutely no information as to how to care for his freshly relocated shoulder and still no pain relief. We went back the following day and saw a doctor who again gave him no advise as to recovering from this injury and said he would give him a prescription for pain relief but left it out of the paperwork he gave at the end of the 2 minute check up. Also, travelling from Australia and not having OHIP, they acted as if this was the first time they had dealt with foreigners and noone had any idea of how to treat us. Thank God we speak fluent English because if not, I'm sure they would have sent us home without relocating the shoulder. Everytime we have to go back to the hospital for check-ups, I am extremely anxious and leave very angry. Please, save yourself from this headache and if you have the choice, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!

Joanne Roberts

We went to the ER one week ago for my husband, he was treated quickly and had x-rays a cat scan and surgery all within 24 hours. He is now home and feeling so much better. Thank you everyone in the ER and General Surgery!

Awful experience here. Waited in the hallway sitting on the ground for hours because the waiting room was so full, there was a father and his sick child also sitting in the hallway with us and the child puked on the ground. In the 5 hours I was waiting for treatment no one ever came to clean it off the hallway floor. When I finally was seen by a nurse she was rude and made me take my shirt off to do some tests and left the door open so everyone could see me. I then sat in another hallway with an oxygen mask on in the middle of everyone walking and running around me and there were garbage and stains on the floor as well as stains and dripping liquids running off the counters in the room the doctor saw me in. In the end they said they didn't know what was wrong with me being unable to breath and sent me home with a puffer.

Jessica A

Professional, Sympathetic and Efficient. Thank you to Brett (in emergency) in particular for going above and beyond during my stay at the hospital. It was reassuring to know I was in good hands and was treated and respected by name and not a number, even with how busy Emergency was that evening. Continue the great work and ithank you for everything!

Birthing unit is ahhmazing. Delivered two babies here.

I went to emerg with symptoms of appendicitis (one of which a mild fever the night before). I spent the day getting tests done but then found out tests where inconclusive so I needed further testing. After spending 9 hours in emerg that day I decided to go home and have an apt booked for imaging the following morning. So I go home to my family! When I got to the imaging department the next morning, I was told I was in the covid section of the emerg the day before so I should not even be in the imaging department and should likely be quorantining for 14 days as I could have been exposed to Covid. Needless to say I was a bit shocked as I had no idea that I had been admitted to the Covid department. Not only do I have no answeres for my appendix as there was not a snowballs chance in hell I was going back to the Covid department to sit around and wait for results, I may have exposed my family and others as I had no idea I was surounded by potential Covid patients for 9 hours. To boot they did not even test me for Covid! I can't say enough for the doctors, nurses and tecnicians that assisted me. They were awsome! My complaint is definitly not with the care I was given but the proceedures for admittance to the emergency department. First of all I think people have the right to know that they are being admitted to the Covid section! Second of all I think there needs to be a third section for people who likely do not have Covid but unfortunately have one of the symtoms or let people leave if they are just waiting for results and call them back in when they are ready. With all the technology out there today I'm sure there must be better way. To think if you are having an obvious heart attack but they admit you to the covid department because you have shortness of breath. Meanwhile people are coughing all over the place with obvious signs of Covid. Doesn't seem right! This needs to be fixed ASAP!

We went to emergency today. I'm 18 weeks pregnant, the doctor told me that I will be getting an ultrasound and urine test. We spent more than 2 hours waiting for the test and ultrasound, they finally called us for the test and asked to wait for the ultrasound. Amost 1 hour later we got the results for the tests and told us to come back next day for the ultrasound as it wasn't available anymore. After almost 3 hours. I am sorry but why would you make someone wait that long when you know the ultrasound wasn't available anymore ? Now I have to wait one more day to confirm that everything is ok.

This hospital hadn’t been saved my dad’s life and was totally nightmare for me and my family. When you are walking easily to get lost in the maze at the hospital. Not very excellent foods especially in the cafeteria. I will never go back there again.

Manjinder Mann

All the staff was really nice and helping. i took an appointment and didn’t have to wait in any queue.I got my covid result within 36 hours

Spent time in the ER last week. Filthiest ER I have ever seen. I had ample time to have a good look around. This hospital doesn't meet the basic universal precaution of infection control. Body fluids all over the place and the bathroom in the critical care part of the ER was worse than in sitting areas and exam rooms. Had iv put in by someone not wearing gloves. if you have means to go somewhere else go!

Linda E

My Mom required ER care after a fall. Thank goodness for Dr Rosheen Teresa McElroy. This is someone who cares. Dr McElroy has contacted us daily since my Mom was discharged as we have had problems develop that she said were a possibility. She has called us on her own time. Something that usually doesn’t happen especially during these busy COVID times. Thank you Dr McElroy!

this is a review regarding the mental health unit 7th floor/morrow wing: - Nurse MONA is always late and is withholding my scheduled medication. - Nurse Kenette is very mean and have no clue how to deal with mentally sick people. Nurse kenette can get very insulting and must be fired asap. -Dr. STALL just doesn't care enough to understand but can be harmful. -patient relations no reply so far. attn: Dr. Jodi lofchy

St Joseph's does not recognize GAINS payments to seniors as an exemtion for covering an ambulance bill. Yet many other hospitals like mount Sinai does. When i called to ask about it the lady told me since I'm her daughter I should pay for it! So basically an addict on welfare who has a drug overdose can get an ambulance an not pay for it, but an 81 year old woman who falls down has to come home to a $45 Bill that she can't afford. Nice st. Joseph's! That makes all the sense in the world.

Kate Minnes

We had our first baby at St Josephs in June and it was a great experience. We had a scheduled c-section with Dr Kirkham who did a wonderful job. The OR nurses and Anesthesiologist were both friendly and very professional. The nursing staff on the maternity ward were great. As new parents we had lots of questions. One nurse in particular (Nadia) spent some extra time with us so we felt much more confident before we headed home with our son. We will definitely be back when we have our next baby :)

If you’re dying don’t go here they are terrible the staff are so rude the doctors are literally the worst bunch of airheads don’t even know what they’re doing if you ask me the whole place should get investigated or shut down it’s very disgusting in there.

Rachel Grant

I have had a number of visits this past month and each time, my appointments have been on time and all the staff and nurses were so respectful and professional. It means a lot to me that this is so easily accessible in my community. Thank you!

Owen Gill

Went to the ER with Mono and was denied water for 7 hours and put in a room which was set at 80degrees F. When I asked for water I was denied and continually saw the ER nurses walk by with their cellphones out talking amongst each other and not attending my needs. It was actually a lady at the front desk who directed me to my room who was kind enough to get me some water. Extremely disappointed with the nurses at this hospital. Very unprofessional and rude when I asked simple questions about my health.

I recently delivered my child at st joseph and the nurses were good but the Doctor incharge of that night wasn't very kind and thoughtful. I wish I can put her name here. She has students and I am literally in pain and shaking after giving birth and this Doc is teaching the students after delivery procedures. I felt like crying as I am in so much pain ( no epidural) during n after delivery and the Doctor is taking time to teach her students. I am sure she did it because of how I look. If it's a different race I think she wouldn't do that. I didn't get to have skin to skin connection with my child as i am in pain and the doc is taking time to finish as she teaches students the after delivery procedure. Worst experience and I hope this Doc have or learn some kindness, empathy and compassion toward patient who are in pain which is visible in patient's face/ expression.

My father was in emerg for 32 hours in the hallway before he was moved up to the 4th floor. Once there we discovered he was not even in a room, it was another hallway where it was a thoroughfare for another room. He is almost 89 years old, he was tired and scared. Thankfully the nurses on the 4th floor were more accommodating.

Philip Ridge

The diagnostic imaging dept registration desk is a joke. These people are clueless. One young man was having a conversation with one of the patients while there were many people waiting. I was in line for ten minutes and i was first!! We are not cattle!!

O O

Very slow to respond to the call button, let their attitudes affect the work, lies to the patients, does not respect the patients personal space, leaves elderly patients in hallways for eighteen hours of the day, faulty equipment, and the bathrooms are dirty.

A W

Lots of help to find your destination. Parking garage. Lots of road work going on around buildings

Nay

Compassionate care that went above and beyond. Every single person from ambulance to front desk to the lady registering were understanding and caring and kind. Each brought their own personality to help. The gentleman who had to place stitches in my face went so far as to take a few minutes to help me calm down. Unbelievably good care. These are the hardest workers with the most difficult jobs. Amazing people.

Fay Baker

I moved to this area and go to the hospital, because it’s close to me and like it . The staff at the hospital are very kind , friendly, and professional.

Cody Godfrey

If I could rate a 0 I would I'm am utterly disgusted in the lack of care they give to patients my moms been sitting in emergency for 12 hours waiting to get an actually hospital bed.... shes a cancer patient and severely sick and being told to stay in emergency until one becomes available also was scheduled for an emergency biopsy that we waited 6 hours to get told it had to be rescheduled.... it's an emergency biopsy how do you tell people to reschedule

Kevin Stephen

The staff in the emergency room let my grandmother die in the emergency room. She was waiting for her own room for several days. You would think a 95 year old would have priority to a personal room but no, she died listen to the painful sounds of the ER. I would have liked her to die peacefully in a room, undisturbed and quieter. The staff really let me down, I would never take anyone here, really poor care.

Kim Jacobs

Had a wonderful experience yesterday at St. Joe's. From the front door to the surgery. Thank you all, for making the unknown a lot less stressful.

Debra McLennan

Over the past several months I have visited the emergency dept, ultrasound dept, the GI unit, and eventually had surgery. In each and EVERY dept the staff, nurses and the doctors were professional and treated me with respect and kindness. They were thorough in their assessment and I felt confident with their treatment. My husband also was treated at this hospital and the emergency room doctor actually saved his life. Yes the hospital has seen better days and definitely needs some work but it’s been serving our community for almost a 100 years and has one of the busiest emergency depts in the city. It’s old and tired and impossible to keep shiny and clean. But would I go anywhere else not a chance!

sameh nagi

Worst and most rude emergency staff member. The board really need to take a look at their nurses this can’t be tolerated. Really frustrating all these complains and no one is capable to intervene when I asked for a nurse name to submit a complain no one wanted to provide me with her name as if they are covering for her

Pablo Asencio

Our baby was born here, and I can tell you he was in very good hands ! The nurses and doctors took really good care of us from both a health and comfort perspective. Plus everyone was so lovely and adorable ! We didn't had the impression that we were at a hospital. Big thanks to all the staff for the great job you do!

2251019 INC

Was assessed by a young Filipino nurse in the emergency department who wearing a top exposing her belly area.she was more interested in texting on her phone instead of paying attention to patients standing by the nursing station in need of help.

karen s

Went to the ER and the waits are extremely long . This hospital has very RUDE staff !! Starting with the triage nurses. They all seem to have attitudes !! Especially one of the nurses I had to deal with she had no idea how to treat patients I don't understand how she works there . However the doctors are great !

Delores Rependa

Horrible hospital no compassion for someone who is sick and it pain, wrong diagnosis, drunks and druggies cops constantly their, stretchers all over the hallways, put in waiting room while on pain meds, just a ridiculous place , walked out a couple of times, patient relations another joke, the pain n suffering I've been through the last few years the painful iv 4 and 5 times in order to get a vein , and would keep poking if you didn't tell them to please stop or get someone who can find a vein, yet its our fault because we are sick I've been there quite a few times they look at you and think the worst right away not even one who needs pain meds are like most of the drunks and addicts that are their on a regular basis, but to be basically told u don't have this wrong or you have this so may different results and diagnosis but yet Toronto western hospital automatically sees the problem really just goes to show you n I've told them this was my problem like its my fault the surgery is causing me issues from 2 years ago after today you can bwt on it im gonna do a further investigation to find out why this was not seen before

Séana Stewart

had the WORST experience at this hospital. had to be admitted to the emergency mental health unit and it was just awful. while the wait time was minimal, staff was rude and unattentitive. threw me into a disgusting dirty room, only to kick me out of it and move me 20 minutes later. bathrooms were more disgusting than any gas station or mcdonald's i have ever been in.staff was extremely unhelpful, and only checked in to take vitals. could overhear them gossiping about other patients in the nursing station. when i was discharged, i had to ask the staff multiple times for my personal items back. also made it clear i had no way to get home, and received absolutely no help. horrible horrible horrible experience and i will never ever be back.

Vladimir Kobiletskiy

On August 29 my family doctor sent my lab test result to a hematologist to get second opinion. In 3 weeks I got message that original referral was declined , so Dr. Milan redirected my referral to Dr. Kim. And again I got ignorance. I have been waiting for any message since September. Unbelievable how irresponsible hematologist working for St.Joseph's

David Hall

I would give them negative points if I could. Do not go if you seek mental help. I was in for depression and anxiety, even had my dad there to vouch, and they thought it would be better to rough me up and strap me to an uncovered bed for hours. Worst human beings imaginable.

Richard Mucha

Go elsewhere for your Covid-19 test. Went on June 25 in order to get screened so as to be able to visit my mother in long term care. Day 9 (!) and no results posted on the ministry website. Left two messages at the Assessment Center voice mailbox, no one has called back.

Mark Mosgrove

My partner went to Saint Joseph's 2 days ago I was told to come back on Monday when a dermatologist would be there goes back to the hospital they have no record of being there on the weekend

Krystyne Klimek Carvalho

Looks historic on the outside and getting a major face-lift on the inside; easy to navigate. Friendly staff and volunteers

If I can give negative stars, I would. Thanks to this hospital my grandma will now be bedridden for the rest of her life. When asked what happen we were tossed around and lied too. Staff told us multiple different versions of what happen that caused her to be bedridden. The doctor also don’t tell you the full truth about diagnostics they found for my grandma...making the family thing her situation seem like it nothing when it was far much worst. The staff here should not be trusted and if you have to bring your loved ones here be sure to be very carefully. My family has been lied to multiple times by the hospital staff here on what has happen with each person push us off to the next and when we do get answers, every staff we spoke to gave us a different story and said different things. If you want your love ones to be in pain and die...than this hospital is perfect for you. I know my family will be speaking with lawyers about what happened with my grandma...because I do not wish what happened to my family to happen to anyone else. So please if you care about your loved ones...DO NOT SEND them here.

Reva Malinsky

I was somewhat cautious about going to the Emergency at St. Joseph's after having read some of the reviews but I'm glad that I did. I went to St. Joseph's emergency on a Sunday afternoon at approximately 5 p.m. and I left, with a prescription, at approximately 6 p.m. During that time I was seen by the triage nurse, a work up doctor and the doctor who checked me out. My symptoms were dizziness and a 'foggy' feeling and I was diagnosed as having vertigo. I was very surprised at how quickly I was seen by everyone even though the emergency room was fairly full. The triage nurse was exceptionally helpful and diagnosed my symptoms before I even saw the emergency doctor.

Tim Smith

Went in for a booked covid test appointment and the all of the staff couldn't have been more helpful/understanding. They did a terrific job of distancing and I got my results back in 24hours. A big thank you to the team at St. Joseph's Assessment Centre.

KATHLEEN FLOOD

Thank you to the excellent staff at St. Joes. On May 25 2017 I initially brought my 17yr old to the Just for Kids Clinic where we were redirected by the doctor and walked directly to Emerg by the desk clerk there due to pain in her back. I was very worried about my daughter and unfortunately cannot recall the names of the Doctor and Clerk at the J.F.K.'s Clinic. I realized at some point that I did not have my phone with all my contact info etc so I quickly retraced my steps. Since we were at Emerg I thought that since I do not have my phone to call out I went to the Family Medicine Clinic to cancel an apt I had earlier booked for my daughter's back. When I told a very kind desk clerk Joanne, she instructed me on what exactly to do which was to pick up the phone on the wall and tell Switchboard. Joanne informed me that due to the time (730-8pm) the security office was closed. To make a long story short, I had my phone back within 10 minutes! The phone was found by Reg the Nurse and he gave it to Security A.J. and Tom who in turn returned it to me! Thank you all so very much!!!! Kathleen

My grandmother had cataract surgery and the staff on the 2nd floor in the Morrow Wing were superb! English is her second language and it was heartwarming to see how much they care about their patients. They were really attentive and made sure she was okay post-surgery. I am super thankful and health care providers are truly the backbone of our country.

Charlie L.

My 80 year old father attended the emerg for a diabetic infection on his toe. It had turned gangrene and the infection. spread into his blood system. One doctor wanted to send him home. Another doctor wanted to admit him. The decision was to admit him. We waited 4 days in the emerg for a room. After a few days the doctor amputated his toe. A few days later another doctor from Toronto General took a look at the surgery. He was very disappointed with the sloppy work. My dad's toe was amputated but the rest of the gangrene around the area wasn't removed. Now my dad is scheduled for an operation to have his foot amputated. St. Joes used to be a great hospital. That was why we initially brought my dad there. We should have taken my dad elsewhere.

Daniel Negrello

Emerg is awful, 3am, and i am waiting for 3 hours already, my wife and 1yo son are inside waiting for assistance. 3 HOURS, worst experience ever, my son had fever and couldn't sleep, and the nurse/staff spend more time chatting and fighting them actually helping. IF U DON'T WANT TO WORK, STAY HOME, A HOSPITAL IS A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE GO FOR HELP!!!! ABSOLUTELY DISRESPECTFUL!!!!!! Should be a 0 star option.... (Update) I've been told that, there is only ONE DOCTOR. FOR THE WHOLE HOSPITAL..... HE is running 3 sectors by himself to assist everyone. WHAT A SMART MANAGEMENT!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS.

Karen Leanne

I do not recommend emerg here. Multiple bad experiences, very long waits, and often sent home with unresolved issues, still in severe pain. Also they did not have a qualified surgeon on staff for the surgery I needed. I have also overheard mistreatment towards other patients while there. Outside of ER the hospital is decent/average but also long wait times.

C L

The doctor and nurses are really nice. I only gave 4 stars because of the 8 hour wait.

Haseeb

Recovery room staff really rude. Seems like an annoyed bunch of ladies on pathetic salaries. Doctors just try to get rid of you same day even after bone fracture surgery.

G Cherry

Editing my review cause went for a CT scan and both nurses were amazing. Didn't know it required an IV until the first nurse told me. Told her I have trypanophobia or fear of needles. She told me I could do it lying down no problem. She made me feel much better Then the male nurse, blond guy came and talked to me about hockey the whole time so I barely even noticed the IV going in Props to those nurses and thank you for helping me through it. Still think that hospital needs to be upgraded though. Seriously its depressing af in there. Govt needs to invest more in our hospitals.

Valerie Kent

Service was terrible, doctors were rude and refused to address what I was in the emergency room for. They even refused to provide lab results when I don't have a family doctor. How am I supposed to seek medical help elsewhere without test results?!

Benzion Belfon

In all honesty, I didn’t know that hospitals like this existed in the western world...

t j Paul

After waiting three hours to be tested, nurse informed me that St. Joe's doesn't do their own testing! All tests have to be forwarded to Toronto Western where the ACTUAL TESTING is done! This why Toronto Western can turn around results in a day and St. Joe's can take a week! I needed the results for a surgical procedure in four days. Now, I will have to cancel the procedure. Need to inform people BEFORE WAITING IN LINE, that results here can take 7 times as long as Toronto Western! St. Joe's needs to inform people up front that they are not a stand-alone test facility; that in fact, they are simply a feeder for Toronto Western. Transparency!

Ariane Sullivan

This hospital is awesome! Everybody we spoke to about our very sick cousin was kind and polite and radiating the care and concern for the patient AND the family calling long distance. They even called a priest to give the last rites.... many thanks! is

Hi

Went to the ER for anaphylactic shock. My dad drove me there, in the car I threw up 6 times. Arrived at the er and was triaged and waiting 2 1/2 hours to see a doctor. Obviously the nurse didn't know the throwing up is a sign of anaphylaxis. During my waiting I started wheezing. Finally I saw a doctor, I was prescribed anti nauseous meds, steroids, Benadryl and an inhaler. After 4 hours in the hospital I finally left. I followed up with my doctor who works at that hospital and he was shocked I waited so long and that the doctor didn't give me the epipen. If you have severe food allergies I would skip this hospital.

Ruby B

My experience at ANY emerg Dept has NEVER been as efficient and positive as it was tonight. These Doctors and staff worked so quickly and efficiently… it’s refreshing to see. They bring a vibrancy to this hospital and should be recognized for restoring my faith in what is usually a most frustrating and aggravating experience! Well done! This hospital and community is so lucky to have you!

Jennifer Masson

Great facility! Clean & spacious. Staff are kind and courteous. I am treated with the utmost care with every visit! No lineups.

Sid Siddharth

This place treated me well since I became a voluntary in patient here for my treatment of Insomnia. Few excellent staff are social worker John, Dr. Stall, Dr. Elias, Naomi, Kaleigh and Isabel. However, the one who stands out was Ms. Jennifer who took adequate care of myself in every possible way.

shona ford

Short line, friendly staff but I've been waiting now 4 days for my covid results and was told individuals who were tested the day after me were given results already. Incredibly annoying and frustrating.

Sandy Mah

I'm in another city while my daughter has been writhing in pain for the last 3 hours. I see from the reviews that the emergency room treatment is justified. She's been completely ignored with the flimsy excuse they are waiting for the results of an ultrasound????? I'm aware the system is taxed beyond anything we have seen before but this does not excuse the common decency of attending to the cries for someone, anyone and being completely unattended. Furious and helpless

What is the meaning of EMERGENCY? St. Joe’s, our only hospital in parkdale, always disappointed us as usual. My pregnant wife in 9th week, was in pain and bleeding, took leave from her work to go to emerge. We reached hospital around 2pm noon and it was 11 pm when we finally got to go home First off, it took almost an hour at triage nurse. Ladies chatting n giggling inside, while patients waiting outside. Then from one room to another room, waited too long to get a blood test. And another four hours to do ultrasound. The Great Doctor wasn’t there when the report was ready. We were worried if we lost our baby, and it took them ( emergency staff) almost 10 hours to tell us it was a miscarriage. We requested them for several times to speed up the processes, they say it’s not in their hand. My older son 1 yr old cannot go to bed without his mother, me and my son kept wandering in hospital hallways, lobbies until midnight. I told my condition to a staff, she said the doctor is not around, had to wait almost two hours to see him. Is there only one doctor in such a big hospital? Is there only one ultrasound machine in this big hospital? There were other patients sitting in same chair for hours and hours. This is big shame on your management. This is why people make fun of our Canadian Heatlh Care System. Now whoever you are, do not ask me to send details to your email address. And don’t be sorry about me. Thanks a lot for your poor service. .

Amy Vuong

This is a message not for the Health Centre but for the Vaccine Clinic. As a front line worker, I got an email in regards to an earlier date. While I was in the middle of registration, I was told day of they had ran out of the dose I was suppose to receive which was Moderna. I was told that I would have to come back another day to receive my dose and the manager was not able to book me for an appointment the next following day. It's just very disappointing on how 1) I was never informed there were shortages of Moderna a week prior to my appointment. 2) I do not understand how a staff member can mistakenly tag me as a person who got Pfizer online. It clearly stated I got the Moderna dose on my receipt. I was also told by the manager that when booking me through their scheduling system they thought I was getting Pfizer ( made no sense to me). 3) Very disappointed on how disorganized this is having to get early second doses for employees. This is frustrating on my end because I come in direct contact with patients every day, which makes me at a higher risk in getting Covid-19 ; plus the time I had wasted coming down to the Health Centre. All in all, I hope they will have my right dose on the day I am scheduled because this was ridiculous and could have been avoided if someone had sent out notifications in regards to vaccine shortages.

Liam Bonar

st joes has been very disrespectful in cases where Dr Neszt on the 5th floor outpatient mental health and Heather On 7m do terrible service misdiagnose and mistreat its not schizophrenia dr neszt its bipolar disorder or PTSD one of the two …

Ann Alli

This is the worst hospital I have ever entered!! The staff are rude and all they do is send you from one department to another without even listening to what you're looking for or what you need! It's like a joke! And it's like they don't like certain types of people! Honestly I never knew that a hospital which is supposed to be serving the entire public would have such disgusting, rude, impolite and unfriendly staff to help people! Waste of a place to go for help or expect help from! One more thing even the doctor's secretaries are not even helpful! They tell you one thing on the phone and when you get to the hospital it's a runaround! It's like a joke to them! Never again!

Susy Uyenaka

Visited the ER yesterday morning with my elderly mom who suffered a fall and required stitches along with further testing. Everyone was incredibly caring and attentive beginning with the registration staff and especially Dr. Sammy Sue and his team. Very grateful. Thank you for all that you do.

Mark Stoltz

This hospital cares not about anyone and now hides the names of the doctor and nurses who attended you. I have the right to complain to the college of nurses and doctors when I feel so horrinly overlooked. Not only did I have kidney stones which im almost fainting, they refuse to give me any information about what is next. St Joe's use to be the best in Etobicoke and now its run very poorly and in fact without any mercy towards the patients. Please I understand no hospital is good anymore but this is totally unacceptable behavior!! I will pursue this to the top. Im so upset.

Tine B

My mom went in and at first went to floor 2M and it’s was clean and the nurses were nice. And had to come back a week later and went to 3M and I didn’t like it. It was extremely dirty my mom got a rash on her leg and they were extremely loud and A man nurse “Dan” if I’m not mistaken had a break while my mother was in surgery and had his cigarette and came back in smelling so strong and was talking about another patient “I never wanna even see her face” while the patient was in one of the rooms and talking very loud so I got to heard the while conversation he had with someone also they were confused about who gave what to what patient like they never wrote ur done very unprofessional. But when my mom and out of surgery he went in her room and you can smell his cigarette smell and it’s was so strong and bothered my mom I went to a lady he was working with and told her my concerns and when I did come back out the room he stared at me like I did son wrong. Thank God my mom got moved and she liked it a lot better and no complains. You the staff on the floor 3M need a reminders that they choose this job do it the right way and with a smile even if those patients can be a pain u choose this field of employment.

Mark Mark

Their nurses are horrible. Sometimes they forgot to put labels on blood sample from the patients and they had to be pierced again. Other times they said the blood was clotted and unusable so they also need to take it again. I never had such experience in a hospital since I had memory. The managers and the doctors in the emergency room tried to hide the issue and protect each other. They tried to suppress the patients' complaints. Have a feeling that this hospital will be ruined by these people sooner or later. Avoid this hospital if you really care about your family members.

Climb LikeAGoat

Update: although our previous experience was not stellar but I must command the nurses, support workers and doctors at 6M for taking good care of our mother while she was in palliative care. The work is physically and emotionally draining but the staffs show up for work every day taking care of our mom with compassion and care, and allowing her to pass peacefully. Thank you everyone at 6M, you are the unsung heroes. ------------------------ We were in the middle of seeing a doctor and got interrupted, the doctor and nurses disappeared for an hr and when they returned we were forgotten until I reminded them that we’re still in the queue. Later we were asked to come back the next day because the CT scan service is closing. We got the scan done the next day and then were asked to go to emergency to register again to see a doctor. With all the brain power in this place this is the most efficient process they can come up with. How about try register patients first before doing a scan and not the other way around.

Kunga Chosang

This is the place where they save the people's Life. There is no such place like this. That's why I say this hospital is "God" So I pray for them and thanks for they great job. Thanks again,

Elizaveta

The worst ER I’ve ever beet to! With acute pain I had to wait for 3 hours! And the nurses were lying to me that I’m third or next in line! Like excuse me? I can barely sit as it is and they lie you in the face....the worst place with the slowest personnel...

S. A. Nd.

We were patients in the family birthing centre early April 2017. We were given wrong information in regards to room choices, by a nurse at the time of registration. As a resultimate we ended up having to pay out of pocket. Another situation we encountered, a nurse directed us to return the next day, on Sunday, for bloodwork when the lab is closed on weekends. It is painful enough to have to get out of bed the day after giving birth but also having to wander the halls of the hospital caring a newborn baby and sitting in the ER waiting room for almost an hour!

chehzaad

Great place, lovely staff. Except for the FEW stuck up or fed up people who dont even bother listening to you. Wife asked to the lady at the front desk who's gossiping with her colleague "excuse me, can i ask you a question?" The answer she gets BEFORE even finishing her question is YEAH JUST GRAB A SEAT. 9H15 Tuesday 21st of May. Went on to be borderline rude, but with a smile. Not cool. You get paid to provide customer service, either do it or get another job. Seriously so much contrast compared to your colleagues' attitude.

Vanessa Bessa

Got my covid test done here in October and never got my results. I called to ask why I can’t view my results online and was told “if you didn’t get a call you don’t have covid”. Explain why I can’t view my results 3 months after I took the test. You’d think they would be more diligent during.. hmmm I don’t know, a PANDEMIC? I certainly won’t be returning to this hospital for any other reason

Rachel Black

I went to St Joes emerg when i broke my finger. the place was clean, process was simple. Yes there was a wait but a reasonable amount of time based on number of people needing care.

Kaia Smith

Really nice doctors and nurses, can't complain about the staff at all. However, their emergency centre has the longest wait times in the city! 8 hours is just too long to wait in an emergency clinic!

Thank you!

Sarah R

I had both my kids born here. I had complications and was there for about 18 days each pregnancy. Great hospital and wonderful staff. Labs and surgeons were all professionals and kind people.

Ben

This hospital is terrible. If you're going, make sure you bring a tent, food, water, & anything else you'll need because the minimum time you're going to wait for anything is 8 hours. this is the slowest hospital ever. The doctors don't do a good job of making sure you're okay either.

KATE WINDSOR

I have been at St. Joseph’s many times. The last several times I was during the pandemic being pregnant. Cannot complain - I did not have to wait for a long time. All necessary tests were done on spot. Nurses and doctors at the delivery department were super friendly with only a few exceptions. Probably those individuals very too tired but they were not rude. Just compare to other staff a bit less welcoming. When I had a knee surgery done at this location a few years ago, did not like the service I got from the receptionist. I came 20 minutes before the time I was advised to come by. Three people were in front of me. They left quickly and I became the only patient waiting for the registration. I was waiting and waiting, I thought that I would be late for my surgery. There were a couple of receptionists, they were entering some info, chatting with each other, walking back and forth. I understand that I do not know their job but from a patient view, it looked like they were doing nothing while I was getting late for my surgery. I waited for an hour, 40 minutes from which being the only patient in the waiting area. The rest went well. Cannot complaint. The surgeon and his team was amazing that is why I gave 5 stars.

DO NOT go to st Joes for your covid tests. It has been 6 days with no results. They also have not posted my wife's results in 2 weeks after she got them. Go to Toronto western, it should take 12 hours compared to a week.

Jon M

They booked me a morning appointment, with a requisition and a note stating what time my appointment is. When I got in they said I don’t have an appointment and I will have to book it!!! How on earth does this hospital operate?! Somebody comes in to an appointment in the morning, and you’re saying that they’re lying about the appointment! Never coming here again!!!

Jessica Rasile

Time and time again st Joe's fails on every level. Their wait times are ridiculous even when they are not busy, they changed the garbage and brought back one with blood on it, you go and ask questions because your family member is in so much pain and they are rude and non informative, they openly fight with each other where people can hear them. They stand there and converse about stupid things while there are people waiting for some type of update or accommodation. You have to keep going up to them to check in instead of the other way around. It never ceases to amaze me coming here how much common sense is lacked here. Do yourselves a favor, save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

MrTantraMan

I had an experience getting minor surgery and the staff was excellent. Thanks to the surgeon and the lovely staff.

Yuki Yu

Negligence, sloppiness, professionalism, disorder and so much more you will see if you go there. Twice I had close to death experience due to their misconduct. If you care about your life run far run fast away from them!!

Rose Omar

Hello please do not go st Joseph emergency room. Its better to take all the painkillers you have and wait for your doctor... I went there tonight and toll them I was bleeding since 10am and its 6pm now. After telling the triage nurse i had bad constipation and its felt like i have birth. Omg she could not stop laughing mind you i am still bleeding. Stay home with pain until you see your og bc st Joseph emergency is worst of the worst.

kamal kimatrai

I recently had some serious surgery at St Josephs Hospital. From the minute I arrived at screening, to the information counter and then to the surgical unit where I was treated as a person and not a patient. From the receptionist who took the time to talk to me to the IV nurse who showed . genuine concern, to the orderly who took me to surgery, I cannot say thank you enough times. The operating staff who sensed my anxiety and humored me, kudos to you. I was then taken to recovery and again treated very well. To the staff on the fourth floor where I spent one night, thank you for making my stay pleasant. You all know who you are. I owe you. BTW that doesn't mean you send your donation department after me!!!

safi safi

I was brought here while I was very sick by ambulance am 15 weeks pregnant didn’t eat for 2days I was very weak all in all they didn’t do anything for me they just put me in waiting room for 4hours nobody calling me and then I went to them I couldn’t even walk I was in the Wheelchair they told me just wait there’s sick peoples than you omg I think is just because I was Muslim so they didn’t wanted to call I can’t believe this my husband came take me to Etobicoke hospital it was much much much better

Kara C

Although wait times can be long as its such a busy emerg and its in dire need of a “face lift” the nurses, doctors and technicians that I encountered were top notch. Dr. Falcioni, Dr. Li and Dr. Pickersgill took the time to explain my plan of care, were extremely empathetic to my concerns and thoroughly answered every question I had. I felt extremely comfortable, confident and safe in their care and I would recommend St. Joseph’s to anyone requiring emergent care.

Dakota Bucker

I have to agree with MOST of the negative reviews. For whatever reason, they are arrogant, smug, and extremely money hungry to get you to do things that most Dr's would never ask you to do. The SJ Family Medicine is the WORST of them. Run by morons who have no concern about your health -- Only interested in the "referral" business and tons of unnecessary tests/exams and keep forcing you to come back.... Dr. Crispino and her "team" monitor your every move and dictates how things will be done (not directly to you -- through their ever-changing residents who are in training mode and scared to make a decision without consulting her - she monitors your visits like you were in jail). Don't waste your time going here --- There are a ton of other places nearby that are much better and more efficient please around.

S Thomas

Only two doctors I would recommend for senior care...one a senior urologist. However, took 3 trips to emergency testing done to be admitted by a senior care physician After one week in hospital care my mother was sent home unable to walk wearing a wet, dirty diaper, with an undiagnosed urinary tract infection and an ulcer on her coccyx. The urinary tract infection was quickly diagnosed at an emergency dept in Mississauga 3days later... The ulcer has progressed to stage 4 plus. I have given st Jo's the benefit of the doubt over the years. Both doctors and nurses need mentor ship. Do not leave your loved one with no one to advocate for their needs and care.

Nelson Goncalves

Never had a problem with service or caregivers in my entire 60 years, when the need arrived usually within urgent matters. Yes! things are and have changed, so has the respect and demands of the public's expectations ... life's stresses, most likely, play a role in this. Service providers are people too! within all profession's. Respect is a mutual sentiment. You give it and you shall receive it!. Have a great day.

Real TugaBFH

Worst hospital in Toronto. I've heard plenty of horror stories about St. Joseph's, well today is my turn to tell one. My father in law had a stroke a couple of days ago and lost the use of one leg, at least for the time being. To add insult to injury today he got no lunch and, when he noticed lunch time was flying by and asked, was told there wasn't any more food! All this just because he was switched to another room, on a different floor. It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing and the brains of the operation couldn't care less. I seriously doubt that there was nothing that could be done for him and said so to the person responsible while he did his best to hold back a smirk! What the hell is wrong with these people?

TAQ

This hospital full of demons is forcing me to stay here with no food or water for the whole weekend at least so now i say THIS PLACE should NOT exist and until they let me go i will update this review every day and eveything i said on my first review on this place is untrue so please don't go here P.S. i know most of the good reviews on this place are FAKE I'm updating this review because these demons are making me stay another day and the doctor named Doctor Lindsey is an incompedint jackass so like i said before i will update this review for every day they make me stay here I'm updating this review again because they still won't let me leave and i'm slowly going crazy because of it so in short i would rather be stuck on an island that's 95 o C then here I'm updating my review again because i feel these demons are trying to kidnap me from my mother and they put me on a drug called ADIVAN that makes me not hungery and gives me headaces and i was sopposed to stop taking that med years ago when i found out it dosen't work I'm updating this review again because after they kidnapped me before they kidnapped me again a couple days ago and they almost killed me and the room i was in had blood all over it so if you don't want this to happen to you please don't go here and to any employees here i warned you it was a mistake to kidnap a reviewer

TJ Ward

Trying to fax over pre-admission form. no answer, fax machines is busy for over 3 hours now. no answer by telephone switchboard aswell. I can only imagine the hosptial experience will be no fun when my girlfriend goes to give birth here.

Matt Brown

The doctors are good there but the wait time is way much more than you can expect. Other than that i was satisfied how they took care of me.

Carly Holmstrom

By far the worst experience I have had in a hospital... Completely under staffed. Zero organization. Don't come here if you are seeking attention for anything major, they will treat you like the Crack head that came in off the street.

Ashley White

Waiting time for covid testing, very reasonable & fast. Waiting time for your results.... 5x longer than anywhere else. Spend your day constantly checking your my chart for the posting, living in anxiety. DO not waste your time. Anywhere else has 24 hour turn around results. Still havent got mine.

shut up

St. Joseph’s hospital is severely underfunded, understaffed and it’s a chaotic place when it comes to wait times, beds, and getting a hold of a doctor/nurse/admin in order to get what you need done. I completely respect and appreciate the roles of each and every worker here and understand they try their best to cater to everyone that comes in, but it just doesn’t seem to get any better. This place really does need a lot of improvement in terms of what’s stated above.

Emilia Torres Palma

Today I met the best nurse of my life, her name is Jill, she is in the baby and maternity section at night, she is so nice and understanding, I am happy to have people like her so professional and ready to help, God bless you

Mike Paul

Went here to get a covid test back in sept . Line was quick and the nurse ( Greek fellow ) very courteous and helpful and offered some great advice about future travel.

Ilona Gryciuk

I called emerge too see how my father was doing the staff were really rude and kept on hanging up on me after multiple tries I got a hold of somebody and she said that the nurse was busy and that she will call me back. I guess that the lady who I spoke to never passed down the message since nobody called me. At least the lady at the switch board was very nice.

Laura Murray

Go anywhere else - this place is a mess. My partner is extremely sick and has been waiting for over 7 hours, has not even had blood work done, no one is there to answer her questions. Even for a Toronto hospital the level of care here is pathetic.

Nikola Karovic

Hospital workers are more than rude and unhelpful. The building itself it so outdated, there are holes in walls and everything is filthy. Avoid this dump.

Zhenya Jens

unless you have a cancer and they can make money on you, they are not interested to help you, do not even bother to come, you will not be even examined. particularly urology, this this first what you will hear - you do not have a cancer. another words come back when you have one.

Dennis Dittschlag

Excellent staff, challenged facilities. Our baby boy was just born at St. Joseph's birthing center. The doctors and nurses were OUTSTANDING, really great with their empathy and advice. Unfortunately, the patient rooms and facilities are dated and not in the best shape. You will need to put up with it, but don't let that take away from the moment of growing a family!

Car Pro

Do not understand her work there. She has no emotions whatsoever and I don't feel she is very competent. I think she is a physiotherapist there, Mrs. M. Serpa. The rest of the staff I experimented are ok.

Aysel Mammadova

The best hospital with best nurses and doctors. Doctor Liu Brian and nurse Raichel. I love all people there. Thank you for happy delivery

J K

I decided to go to ER because I was experiencing trouble breathing. Seemed like they were all making a joke of it because of something I had disclosed earlier. Unprofessional staff and overall terrible experience.

Tech League

The nurses who deal with elderly patients are the worst I have ever seen. An old lady fell off her bed and hit the floor hard. NOT one nurse was anywhere. Thankfully, a psw was down the hall and came running. Of course, even he had to page the nurses and wait for them. The lady in the bed next to my mother kept pushing her call bell, and calling out for the bathroom. After an hour of this, and no one coming, I finally got up and went to the desk where a disgruntled lady sits. I told of the lady needing help to go to the bathroom. Another half hour passed before the nurse showed up, and seemed annoyed at having to take her and kept telling her she need to use a diaper. You know why they say this? So their lazy, disgruntled posteriors dont have to get up and change them every hour. The doctor ordered new medication for my mother to be administered immediately. NONE came. I had to chase down a nurse six hours later who said...Oh I am sorry. I got busy and forgot. Ill bring it in shortly. Well, the shift was changed and I waited and nothing. I had to again try and find a nurse in the empty hallways and ask her. She knew nothing about it. Thats all they seem to know...Nothing. They don't want to do nothing and they never know a thing. This hospital does NOT care about the elderly. They are treated like dying, annoying things that interrupt their day. This hospital needs a good overhaul of staff. They are rude, crude, and uncaring. I don't care how many times someone needs to be changed, or brought to the bathroom, or who rings the bell. Its their job and if they don't like it, or don't have the understanding and compassion to take care of and deal with all elderly issues and personalities, they should NOT be in this field and certainly NOT employed.

Nash Peart

I went there a couple of months ago on the weekend and the staff was talking about a patient in her 40's who had cancer and it was her second time that week she admitted. I just find it so unprofessional because they kept talking about her loudly for everybody to hear. It may be annoying for them to deal with a patient but that's what they signed up for.

Monika Leszczynski

The best care I know????

Jay Jay

Nurses are rude don't care after you have given birth. One of the nurses couldn't speak or understand English. Could not take cord blood correctly. Doctor had to ask if she had ever done this before. The blood flew everywhere.

Steven Joaquim

I have been here last week with regards to my wife and her pregnancy and have had nothing but unanswered questions and mis leading information! Doctors in the emergency show absolutely no remorse to situations and even giggle about situations. My wife had been told that she was having an ectopic pregnancy and that she would have to take an injection to basically reverse the pregnancy process. When we would ask for details about the shot and why this type of pregnancy would happen the doctor had no remorse in saying "ITS JUST BAD LUCK" and than even laughed about it! Triage nurses are overheard talking about their weekend with a room full of patients waiting to be assisted. After finally being seen we received our referral from the doctor and was told by the doctor as well as the nurses at the counter that we would be contacted for the early pregnancy clinic. It has now been 4 days later and even with us trying to contact the clinic we have received no further information on what the next procedures from now on will be! Do not recommend this hospital!

Sylvia Kowalska

My daughter was taken to this hospital yesterday by ambulance with severe back pain, couldn't walk. Paramedics were fantastic. Hospital not so much. Very long wait for any help, IV empty for long time, no bell to call for help- need to use toilet. Doctor didn't examine her at all just jelled that xray is ok. Nurses from afternoons Sunday shift fighting , my daughter still in pain, no help and mean comments from attending doctor as of now!!!! Where are we third world????!

Lilly C

Completely disgusting - the place is falling apart and dont get me started in the washrooms. If this is what I’m charged for in my pay each month I’d rather have it back. Moved around to about 10 different parts of the hospital on a rat race for 10 hours only to be standing up and told my private results behind a curtain where other people could clearly here. I had to tell the doctor what to do as he didn’t read the notes. I think I was asked the same question by each person I was passed to. 6 times in total - read the notes people!!!

Michael I

i went to visit the emergency department and the nurse i had assessing me was dressed inappropriately. Her assessment didn't make me feel self assured in anyways as she seemed less knowledgeable. i think her name was Christine

Daria E

Thank you very much to the ER team on duty at around 5pm April 26. Dr. Gagnon was efficient and friendly, the nurses were super nice and very helpful. (To all those who are planning to go there - please be polite to the staff, they really are fantastic, and I am sure that your experience there will be as pleasant as your circumstances allow. )

C. Jimenez

I like the service they provide and some staff are very helpful specially the volunteer staff they’re doing a great job going far and beyond! I hope they get appreciated is their own time spending in this on going and busy environment. In terms of caking costumer service needs to be better friend as when they leave voice messages. They dint specified name of Dr. Or even a telephone # to cal back. Have to cal the # I missed and is always a general department. Please work better on that. Even to remind appmts is hard to get back and find the right department and leave a voicemail.

Heather Thompson

I was in the Emergency from noon until 7:30. I went there as my thoracic surgeon is there, my medical history is known. Dr. Michael Ko, took the time on a break from surgery, not once but twice to come down and see me. The nurses are run off their feet. Our healthcare system is in big trouble. Be prepared to wait however, you will be completely checked over. I would recommend that if you are in need of urgent care, go to the hospital where you have records. Your history is very, very important. Kudos to all staff. They all work very hard with limited resources. I will go back there.

A jrg

Unsympathetic, very poor customer service, people are sick dying and concerned for their loved ones, show some empathy and understanding

Adam Vaiya

State of facilities = poor (needs some investments in upkeep) People = overall good Had a pleasant experience for the most part, however, miscommunications still arose. For example, I had a tube in my arm and was instructed to leave it there for repeat blood work that was scheduled to take place in 4 hours. However, when I had this bloodwork, the caretaker took it from the other arm saying that she wouldn’t use the uncomfortable tube I had to leave in for these four hours. Thanks for considering this feedback, otherwise thanks for the care. Feedback on AIDET communications commitments: Got the acknowledgement down Introductions with caregivers name and professional designation were few and far between aside from the doctor. Duration - staff underestimated times especially towards the end of the visit (40 min became 2 hours) and no updates were provided About half the time staff explained what was going to happen next. Not a great track record but satisfactory. I often took the initiative to ask, and they were informative. There was no wrap up “Thank you” at the end. Also, despite dismissing the primary concern of a heart attack, no explanation was provided as to what could be causing the other symptoms of dizziness and fatigue.

Mustafa Murad

I had a surgery today and I cannot imagine having a more pleasant experience. Everyone - nurses, interns, doctors, anesthesiologists - were amazingly kind and compassionate throughout. They made sure I felt comfortable and kept me informed. Thank you sincerely. We appreciate all that you do ❤️

Jessa Lee Rempel

The staff are sociable but don't seem to really care about the matter at hand sometimes. I just spent four hours in ER to be told they can't do anything about very specific symptoms, and was sent home empty handed and back to the beginning. The hospital itself is usually not in great shape and the bathrooms are really nasty.

Samira A

St.Joseph has to be the worst hospital not in the GTA but definitely in the world. The ER room is a joke, you could be dying and the nurses wouldn’t do a thing. The cleanliness of the hospital is disgusting, the staff is rude and doesn’t care about any of the patients. How this hospital is up and running is beyond me. I hope somebody shuts you guys down because you guys aren’t here to help anyone. I went there Monday evening and nobody saw me until Tuesday mid-day. I was in so much pain and the nurse who kept hooking up my IV wasn’t even doing it properly it was spilling all over the floor. If I could give anyone any advice I would advise you to go anywhere but here, stay far away at least if you wanna survive cause this hospital doesn’t care about anybody’s well being but their own.

Fy Ihvf

Very dishonest staff. Very disturbing behavior of docs and nurses at the mental health unit 7. Abuse of power is very normalized. Still shocked that this is a Canadian hospital that is funded by a fortune only to give such a low and abuse filled performance. What a shame! I'm happy to see other patients share their experiences on here. Yup, let's drop their names :) I'm gonna make a report as well Cheers

Faduma Asseir

i Honestly don’t think anyone should visit this hospital it’s actually the worse , one nurse had no respect for me. It’s hardly clean and the wait limit is unbelievable. Shockingly I was born in this actual hospital! NEVER AGAIN!!

jaswinder singh

please do not come to this hospital if you want to treat yourself properly. waiting time in emergency area is more than 2 hours. even the doctors shows you in the emergency room, then he will go somewhere will forget about you. such a ridiculous hospitality.

Mary C

Even though my appointment was at 4:30am, the staff were so kind. Initially I was lost, a kind doctor found me outside. He brought me to MRI personally. Such a pleasant experience at this hospital.

Jo MZ

The diagnostic department in this hospital is a disgrace! First time around they were running late 1.5 hrs. Today, I'm sitting here almost two hours past my appointment and there are still a lot of people before me. Parking is always an issue as well. I just really hate coming to this hospital. It is old and outdated, and in need of major restructuring and improvements. Avoid if you can.

Ahmed Ismail

ST Josephs to me is the best health centre in the province. The nice people like the reception and the nurses that ask if your ok.But my favourite part about ST Josephs is that is so clean

Taras Rakchaev

What is there to say? It's a hospital. A bit confusing now, as renovations are being done and departments are being moved around.

Robert V

I recently had surgery here. Nursing Staff is 5 Stars. Great care and kindness. Very attentive and professional. Very easy to talk to. Always called me by name and with a smile. House keeping was very friendly and kept my room clean. Doctor Lindsay and his team of Doctors were equally awesome. Many follow up visits and answered all my questions in simple and easy to understand conversation. This hospital is SO much better than my home hospital of Health Sciences North (Sudbury, ON).

Nicole Styles

If I could give no stars I would -_- my mom Got her gullblater removed and I was really young when she did, and now it's been 5 years since the operation and they still have not given any results from that operation or any results to the family doctor from her previous appointments at St.joes, it's like they are hiding something from her! Everytime she eats her gullblater area gets bloated, in my opinion they did not do the operation properly, everyone else tells my mom they eat everything and they got their gullbalter removed to. This use to be a good hospital now it's just terrible!

Andy Leskur

This review deserves ZERO stars. I am utterly shocked at the state of this hospital, as well as its staff. From a facilities standpoint, the hospital is dirty, disorganized, and woefully outdated, irrespective of the renovations being undertaken. The entire hospital looks like something you would find in a poor developing country. I had to take my mother to the hospital for diagnostic testing. She was to arrive on an empty stomach, but this was not conveyed to her leading up to the appointment. In fact, in leading up to the appointment, hospital staff told her that she did not have to fast or do anything out of the ordinary in preparing for her ultrasound. Upon arrival, when asked, my mother stated that she in fact ate and used the bathroom prior to leaving the house. Immediately she was told that the appointment would have to be cancelled and a new one scheduled. They kept asking her over and over again whether she was told to fast. My mother is extremely detailed with her medical information and I believe her when she says she received no specific instructions. Well, it turns out that a letter outlining instructions was sent to my mom's physician. Why send it to her physician and not the patient's residence??? We were offered to wait until 4:30-5:00 pm for the ultrasound but that would have been three more hours in the hospital. And the waiting rooms were less than desirable to wait 10 minutes let alone three hours. Ultimately the appointment was rescheduled for the end of next week. In the meantime, I lost a full day's pay for having to take a day off work, and will lose half a day for the rescheduled appointment. Factor in transportation costs and the hospital's incompetence will have cost me at least $250 (Will the hospital offer me remuneration for its incompetence???), as well as created much aggravation for my mother. Stay clear from this hospital. For me it is the poster-child for all that is wrong with publicly funded health care.

F J

Thank you for the professional and empathetic employees that work in the fracture clinic, especially Melissa at the front and Dr. Carlos Lopez . With a partially torn inner meniscus I needed help understanding my journey on the road to get better. Even doing x-rays was in and out painless . Thanks again

Crystal Eve

My favourite hospital in the GTA. I've had a couple of trips to the emergency room here and the wait is always suprisingly short. The staff is always helpful, respectful and efficient. The facility, although older in some areas, is clean and well kept. They are in the process of renovating some areas of the hospital to further improve the space. Overall, I've had an excellent experience with St. Josephs in various departments. The services I have received from the staff here has been nothing short of incredible! Thank you to the nurses, doctors and all the other employees here who have worked so hard to provide an excellent experience to all the paitients here.

Karen Pender

I would give ZERO stars if I could!!! My spouse of 13 years, passed away in this hospital on July 1, 2017. He had cancer in his kidneys and it had spread to his lungs and brain and he also developed a tumor on his heart. He was being seen regularly by Dr. Dorothy Lo in Oncology. First of all, she is an intern, I had to tell her to give him antibiotics to clear up a small infection in his lung to which she replied "oh ok yeah we will do that!" shouldn't she have KNOWN this??? She looked at him like he was a disease and all the staff there spoke to him like trash!! He was terminal, and had stage 4 cancer, they could have been a little more sympathetic. The hospital was filthy and there was a mental health patient following me around. They should be in a secure place where they can't harm others or themselves! I got to take him home because that's where he wanted to die, but a serious breathing problem forced him back to the hospital where he was already being cared for. The nurses there didn't change his shirt when it got soaked due to him sweating because he would get so scared when he couldn't breathe! I was also told that my husband was crying out to me but I had already left that night, (I stayed with him from morning to night!) and the nurse decided to tell me this AFTER he had passed away instead of calling me immediately when he was asking for me!!! I was heartbroken!! Needless to say, I was called to get to the hospital because he wasn't going to live much longer, but by the time I had drove there (which took only 10 minutes!!) He had passed away. There was a lot of negligence done by this hospital. He was on oxygen and the temporary tank he was on while getting a test done was about to run out, and the staff told me to hold on while they looked for a piece to hook him into the wall oxygen!!! he had a spare tank under his bed and they just had to switch it while she looked for it but they wouldn't!!! Thankfully, I knew how to change it so I did and when she came back (10 minutes later!!!!) she tried yelling at me!!! TOO BAD!!! I wasn't about to let him suffer! Sorry for the long post but I wanted to fully put out there to anyone that has a relative that's terminally ill or even thinking about going here to change your mind!! You will get better care anywhere else but here!!! Thanks!!
