Great Hospital! Took care of my mom, a couple of friends and I even had to go to EMERG myself once. My son drives from Barrie to this one for their children to go to EMERG.. much better than the Barrie Hospital in the emergency service.

I left my son at the emergency entrance seeking help for symptoms of a heart attack. The attending nurses exhibited extreme disregard and apathy for his immediate condition. Their primary concern was focused on mask etiquette above any regard for his breathing difficulties, despite the state of his severe distress. While waiting for over 1.5 hours he witnessed three patients being shunted ahead of him. He concluded that he was not going to receive immediate help and decided to go to a different hospital which provided substantially more professional care and necessary referrals. I'd give 0 stars but 1 is the lowest Google will allow.

Clearly its difficult to rate a hospital due to the changing variables that affect the day to day running of any given hospital. Unfortunately our experiences have been awful. Maybe it was the timing but for my husband's 2 week stay after a car accident and 4 other hospitals, this was terrible on the border of neglectful. For my elderly mother's visit to emergency, they concluded she was dehydrated and likely didn't have enough breakfast so they kept her there for over 6 hours and didn't feed her or give her anything to drink even after she asked. Follow up with the emergency doctor was non existent after he requested a $500 heart monitoring procedure for at home, no results were ever discussed or explained and no return phone calls to this day and the emergency visit was September 2020. Luckily the heart monitoring organization forwarded the information to my mother's family doctor at our request, he was NEVER informed by the emergency staff. Did I mention when I came to pick her up they couldn't find her? They had lost track of her. She finally came to the front to find me on her own. Good luck!!

terrible they cant deliver a baby they send you home to have it on the floor 40 mins later the I.C.U team is ignorant and inhumane (Theres maybe 3 goodstaff) there security is overly agressive for the most part and when one shows a lil bit of understanding and compassion they get screamed at infront of patients and visitors there killing there own reputation i suggest staying as far away as possible as the good to bad staff ratio is about 1:10 and they like pinning icu patients to the floor so they cant breathe and think its totally okay there staff broke a patients cheek and almost suffocated him but its okay because they say so even tho the law disagrees

I had an emergency medical event and spent a cpl weeks in their care. No one wants to be in the hospital for any reason, but the staff are truly exceptional at G.B.G.H. Everyone from surgeons to support staff, nurses to volunteers, were professional, caring and dedicated. Thank You G.B.G.H

7 days ago i went to emergency. After 2 hr .they said you are fine. And they dont check my ribs.with my hard cuff my ribs broken and i cant breathing.but i cant comeback to doctor. Because i am find They said i am fine.

I understand that this is a hard time for everyone, especially front-line workers, however, I was very upset about my last visit to this hospital. The nurses were very friendly, but the doctor I got brushed off my symptoms like they were nothing. She just blamed covid, even though I had multiple negative tests, and she didn't even take a look at me. A week later, I went to the Orillia hospital and they did tests and bloodwork to figure out what was actually wrong with me. It was a shame that I needed to go out of my way to get the treatment I deserve.

After 5 days in a cubby on a stretcher they failed to properly diagnose advanced coronary disease, said I was clear, sent me home. A week later I was in Orillia Soldier and less than a week later a quadruple bypass at Southpark. Took my elderly father in with breathing distress very very early on a Monday. Ambulanced him in. By the time we got there they'd kicked him out into the waiting room saying there were genuinely sick people there. After waiting for hours without seeing a Dr. brought him home. I have never before got such a vibe of "We don't want you here" from a hospital.

The staff was nice and the doctor was kind however the doctor ended up prescribing me the wrong antibiotic. I was in pain for three days and my infection got worst, before the lab called me back and told me that the antibiotic the doctor prescribed was "less effective" then other antibiotics, and that they could easily make a call to my local pharmacy and have it switched for me. By this time I had just made an appointment with my family doctor and just got in to see him. My family doctor basically told me what they prescribed is the one antibiotic that doesn't work for the bacterial infection I had, and he asked me why they would have prescribed this to me. I'm still pretty upset about this, yes people make mistakes but you are a doctor for a reason, how do you prescribe the wrong antibiotic???!! not impressed at all.

My son recently went to the ER here. He was seen quickly and diagnosed with appendicitis. While we waited the staff checked on him and kept us informed about what was happening.They kept him overnight in a nice room (not on a stretcher in the hall) and he had surgery the next day. I was very impressed by the staff and the care. The nurses were kind, the doctor very professional and the surgeon explained all the options. All this on a busy holiday weekend.

If you're sick and in Dire Straits this is not the hospital for you the very horrible doctors that don't know what they're doing does it matter if they get ten thousand or a hundred million they thrive thriving feeding people much pills as they can send people out the door my family member sent it twice by in ambulance got so sick that they couldn't walk or move instead of keeping them in the hospital so that they can get better independent walk move and go to the washroom they just send them all if they keep they could you find them laying on the floor

I'm expecting my first baby and my ultrasounds are through the hospital, I am 20 weeks now and for each ultrasound I've had booked they all get cancelled due to a technician being sick. I wish they had more staff to cover for this type of situation. As a first time mother, I am constantly worrying and the ultrasounds are the one way to ensure everything is ok. With cancellations and appointments being pushed back it doesn't make it any easier for me to breathe a sigh of relief. The cancellations also make me need to cancel doctors appointments for the results of those scans and it is just overly frustrating at this point. I've had four ultrasounds cancelled and rebooked and after this last time, something needed to be said.

Have had to go to hospital myself for day surgery a few times over the 8 years I have lived in this area ( most recently this morning)and have had to take 2 of my elderly neighbours in for emergency care and have had nothing but a great experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. Well looked after. Keep it up ..ALL STAFF..THANKS

I was booked for day surgery on Monday, November 8th. From the moment I arrived at the hospital it went smoothly. I was checked in efficiently and promptly. I was given directions to the day surgery waiting room, and before even sitting down I was greeted by a nurse who promptly introduced herself and explained her role. Soon we were joined by other nurses. Everyone introduced themselves and explained what they were doing. They greated each other and asked "what can I do to help". I want to thank all of you for this as I am a nervous patient and this gave me the confidence that was being taken care of by a team. The Anathealogist came in introduced himself and reviewed a few things. Again, this is so important to me. He continued this wonderful friendliness right until I was asleep. Once in the surgery room, everyone, was working away but always telling me what they were doing. Thank you! Even when the surgeon came in he said good morning and lightly joked with me. So to all the staff who took great care of me thank you for everything!

My experiences at GBGH during Covid were excellent. The emergency, nursing and support staff were very caring for me when I was there- especially the one nurse who listened carefully to everything my parents told her about how we needed care because of our condition from that pandemic or whatever you want call it - anyways she seemed like a kind person which made all the difference in not feeling so alone even though everyone else around us couldn't stop talking about their cousin Jack being coughing up blood after getting into an accident with another car driven by someone named Smith

Something needs to be done here ! I waited 6 hours to pee in a cup and get one sample of blood! I understand if it was super busy but it wasn’t at all! I also saw at least 3 members of staff with there hands in there pockets (literally) doing nothing !!! There was also 2 members of staff that were VERY rude to me! So pathetic!! I get that we are in a pandemic and there’s staffing shortages but I counted at least 15 different people working there so this is just unacceptable! Again something needs to be done !!!!!

Went up there 3 days ago at 1pm with my asthmatic 4yo daughter it was packed like packed packed, so I asked if we could wait outside due to my health issues and my daughters / having my eldest with us they said “yes we’ll come get you when her names called” an hour and a half later the lady came out and said I think she’s already been called…. Needless to say we had to reregister and wait inside with a packed waiting room that had a drunk lady in it spilling water everywhere… by the time we went in to see a doctor it was already 5:40pm and they only did 2 tests a COVID test and a chest x-ray. The doctor didn’t say anything other then I’m putting her on this and here’s where u can get the results for the COVID test… didn’t tell me what was wrong with her or nothing like NOTHING… her COVID test came back negative thankfully but that just makes me worry more about what’s wrong with her! We didn’t get home till 6:30pm I think I’m going to Barrie or orillia next time because they never take that long…. The only good thing this hospitals for is when your giving birth.

My girlfriends father came in with chest pains and shortness of breath I ain’t no doctor but those are similar signs of a heart attack or stroke he was there for over 9 hrs and his heart rate was very high! The morons working there send him home I get a call that he died of a heart attack after being released from the hospital . They should have known those can be obvious signs that can lead to heart attack or stroke they sent him home when his heart rate went down same day and he dies shortly after ! I’m very upset and I believe this could have been prevented possibly! I hope that dr loses sleep every night I’m sure if it was their family member they would have took all measures to keep them there and try to find a symptom ! not just send someone complaining of shortness of breath and chest pains home and only in their mid 60’s to have them die shortly after like cmon Canada your health system is deteriorating!

Spent 7 hours waiting to see a doctor and left without seeing one. Absolutely ridiculous, there were ten people ahead of me STILL WAITING when I left. I was eventually told there were only two doctors and they were all working with 20 sicker patients in another room. So the 10 patients ahead of me are still there waiting and will be for hours, plus the 10+ people in the waiting room. The staff should inform people of a 7hour + waiting period. No one is allowed to eat or drink anything in the hospital, so leaving still in pain was the only option. Another patient, A diabetic woman was denied water ???? just pathetic. This happened at 12:30pm- 7:30pm (not the night shift !!!) Get more doctors on shift. Period.

The Covid 19 protocols are not great. I brought my son up having a panic attack and most likely a hypoglycemic attack as well. The lady panicked and registered him as having covid symptoms. My son has severe allergies and asthma. They put us in the isolation room with someone who actually had covid symptoms. Needless to say we left right away.

Excellent care! Had the misfortune to be admitted to GBGH twice during the Covid outbreak. The emergency, nursing and support staff were very good, caring and supportive. Listened to the staff dealing with some of the patients and was impressed with the understanding and patience despite some extreme verbal abuse.

The wait time at the emergency dept is pathetic.... one physician working the night shift on a Friday night in these times????. I saw an older gentleman with significant respiratory issues wait for 20 minutes just to get the attention of the triage staff. Not complaining at all about the staff personally or the physician who was one of the best doctors I have ever met - but the lack of resources in relation to the the demand is unacceptable in a G7 country. What is going on at this hospital Premier Ford???

My daughter went here she has bad anxiety and csme in because of pain in stomach she felt weak n dizzy she waited 5 hours to do to get looked at after initial exam doc told her brief diagnoses and wouldnt elaberate she was beyon very anxious he should have took time to explain on top of this he appeared arrogant in his manner rating are low for this hosp the supervisor was no better when she complained

The worst hospital. Avoid going at all costs. If you do, there is chance you will die. They are NOT knowledgeable, nor are they skilled, nor are they experienced. Doctors are terrible, and quite honestly stupid and should never be practicing medicine nor should they be treating people. I wouldn't even trust them to treat my pet. They misdiagnosed my partner, as a result my partner almost died. They gave us incorrect information. And, after obtaining and reviewing the hospital records, I discovered, the report is inaccurate, the medications listed inaccurate, the diagnoses inaccurate and even worse, they lied about the events that transpired. Sadly, we put faith in our hospital, in our doctors, and to have gone through this experience, sadly, has been very eye opening. Please do not go there if you have other options. This is the sad truth.

The ultrasound techs here are the worst! I am pregnant and had 2 ultrasounds so far and they won’t let me look at the baby, and they wouldn’t let my husband in the room either. I find this strange, I’ve had other children in another province and they let us watch the screen... these techs yell at me for trying and then move the screen and position themselves so they can only see it and say “it’s easier for them this way”. I was able to see a still image on the monitor that was left up by the tech as I was putting my clothes on.

Went to this hosp this morning for a cat scan and after much searching realized that my appointment was made at the Collingwood Hosp and the girls at imaging arranged to have my paperwork faxed over to them and then registered me and after speaking to the Tec who said that it was such a short scan she would take me right away I sat for a short time and was then called in..amazing..

Each visit has been remarkable for the cleanliness of the facility and the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Most recently, the care given by nurse Felicia and Dr. Dan Lee was timely, efficient, effective and delivered with kindness. Thank you for your service!

This hospital is just garbage. The doctors and nurses are just there for a pay check and they don't look like they want to be there or help enyone. You would probably get better care from a vet. Your better off driving the 40 minutes to Barrie or Orillia, it will b worth it in the end. Again, this place is complete garbage. There trying to make it look pretty on the out side but the staff on the inside is still terrible, they should work on that instead. I would give a zero star if I could, TRUST Me!!

I’ve been here a few times Overall generally bad experiences I came in with severe chest pains , and had a hard time breathing , and they had me waiting for a few hours before even looking at me .they didn’t even get me a diagnosis (they said I looked fine ) Then I came back 2 days later in a ambulance because same thing I couldn’t breathe and was having severe chest pain again and finally they got me a diagnosis with a inflamed heart (pericarditis) I wouldn’t have had to come back a second time if they gave me a heart x ray the first time and did more tests I would never recommend this hospital to anyone Unless you want to wait all day for horrible service

After a recent fall while visiting from away, my foot increased in pain after a couple of days. I didn’t consider it an emergency and called hospital ahead for advice. Was told, best to have it checked out. I was met by a volunteer, extremely helpful, waiting room was packed. After being registered and seen by an intern, A doctor and X-rated to find out I had broken my toe, was treated and released all within 2 hours. Very efficient and direct staff, amazing. Thank you

First time ever I went there and hopefully my last. The nurse "Amanda West" does not deserve her title. Not helpful at all. I complained that my mom's condition was worsening, I was told not to complain or I would be kicked out . At this time, the ER waiting room was empty, and she started allowing people who came in after to go ahead of my mother who was having an allergic reaction to antibiotic or an insect bite. I'm extremely disappointed especially with our hardworking tax dollars going toward this health care system and unfortunately having nurses in Ontario's health system like "Amanda West". Shame on you nurse "West" and shame on Georgian Bay hospital for not helping my mother out and sending her home without care. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable!

My children and I have been to this hospital many times for urgent care and the treatment we have received has always been exceptional. I'm puzzled as to why they don't have a 5 star rating right across the board. Professionalism and care provided by the staff from receptionist, to nurses, doctors and everyone in between is second to none. Love this hospital.!

Was seen by Dr. Stuart at the emergency dept. in Midland. Was having a tough time breathing. After a x-ray of my lungs, i was told about fluid on the outside of my lungs, especially the right side. Dr. Stuart asked me if i would like him to try and drain it (thoracentesis). I was coughing to the point of blacking out and could not catch my breath. I agreed to have this done. A needle was inserted into my back, between the ribs and 400 mls. of fluid was removed. It was not all of the fluid in there, but enough to let me catch some sleep at home and let the diuretics start to work on me. The procedure took 15-20 minutes and i was on my way home and able to function a bit again. We are still looking into the cause, but it is listed as a side effect of the oral chemo i am taking. Thank you! Dr. Stuart, the resident who helped him and the rest of the staff. Hope you all stay safe during this trying time!

All ERs you wait, you are prioritized. Today I waited with my elderly father over 2 hours but from the minute we walked in the door beginning with the screener, the volunteer that assisted me with registration to triage, to the waiting room, the nurses, x-ray department, bloodwork, the doctor. The kind ness and patience every staff member displayed to my father and to me as his essential visitor, was extraordinary. The level of respect shown to my Dad I have not experienced before at other hospitals. Not once was anyone impatient, rushed or dismissive. All I experienced from beginning to end was kindness and compassion. Parting words were "do not at any time hesitate to come back and have us reassess or evaluate. That is what we are here for" that from the Dr. The nurses apologetic for the length of time we were there, but not one minute was a waste. I have never had this experience in any hospital before. All I can say is thank you and others should take notice.

I recently had the opportunity to be a patient at Georgian Bay Hospital, I was brought in by ambulance with chest pain. We recently moved to the area from Barrie . From the time the ambulance crew arrived at my house till I walked out of the hospital hours later, i was treated and felt absolutely safe and well taken care of. Dr Jones introduced herself to me within seconds of entering the Emerg department, absolutely awesome Doctor! Professional, down to earth, spoke to me in language I understood. I don’t remember my nurses name (sorry) but she was the best! This hospital may be small , and hopefully I won’t be back, but if I do need to , I’m know I’m definitely going to be in great hands! Thanks so much to this hospital for taking care of me and being top notch at every level!

I don't know why I keep coming here. Most useless hospital. Rather do the drive out of town. Not only is is missing staff but your guaranteed to be forgotten about and hardly looked after. They keep doing nothing and saying I'm fine then I go to another hospital and have bad issues Midland was just to lazy and didn't care to find. Worst hospital ever . Awful staff the nurse lady shook me because I wasn't getting my sweater off fast enough and doesn't even know that talc is an ingredient in some meds. You work in a hospital. I shouldn't have to tell you talc is in aleeve.

I've been to this hospital and the Orilla location on several occasions, the first few we're tolerable but the last was the worst experience by far. The "lady" helping us, I think her name was Cheryl Kemsley. She was rude, abrasive and made a racist comment towards me and my husband. We overheard her talking with another colleague and she referred to us as "the Paki's are getting impatient I better get back" We've never been so insulted or treated so poorly in Canada at any health service facility. It's absolutely disgusting that this trashy woman is even allowed to work in any sort of health care.

Meets the absolute basic criteria for a health care facility. Unless you have a visible or easily diagnosable problem you're likely to run into problems with this hospital. I'd recommend going to Barrie or Orillia if possible. I understand that hospitals have to be careful how they use funds but the staffing is bare bones and the care is reluctant. On a positive note the surgical team I had did a fantastic job with my appendectomy and I have 0 complaints with them. My complaints are more systemic than interpersonal

Hard to get info from home as too patient admitted previous night. Before Doctors rounds at around 10. Worried spouse is left waiting when assurances or concerns could be given from the nurses station. A few moments would have alleviated worry.

First, I want to say thank you for the excellent service. I went to this hospital many times and all the doctors and nurses were always friendly and polite. I was at this hospital July 5th 2020 at 10:00 AM. I want to thank the nurse who checked my blood pressure and temperature, she was very polite and sadly, I did not get to know her name.
