I am so impressed of the courteous service i recd at Selkirk General Today.. i had to go to E.R. (as suggested by my Dr.) And everyone from the screener to the check-in lady to nurses then Student Doctor.. they were all so friendly. I was very impressed, i honestly did not want to go there. They changed my mind about the ER. I was in and out within the hour. Thank you!

I wouldn't suggest anyone to work here the management is unsupportive, demeaning and contradicting the work environment is full of psychosocial, hostile and toxic environments I was employed there well over 5 years and it never improved it just got worse I was in such mental , emotional distress everyday was hell and was wishing death or something to happen to me so I wouldn't have to work there anymore i am finally becoming myself again it was so bad that even when I was off I was counting down the days of having to come back to work every morning having to go to work I was feeling dread and dispare I am glad I got out that experience will never want to work in the Healthcare industry again , I feel for my former co workers as many of them do not deserve the abuse and victimization of that facility there needs to be serious changes to this place be warn to ever appling to this facility you might not come out the same after working there .

This hospital is a beautiful place to die thats about it. I wont even start into the nursing staff and DRs there. There is hardly any patients there as they want to triage you right out the door. I am not kidding. I have never seen a hospital ran like this in my life. Very Odd place.....

Very nice hospital, new, modern and well laid out. A great facility for the interlake area.

Wait times are ridiculous. Staff is usually very rude. Seems like they are all hanging out the whole time.

The Muscle Frog

Went to The Beausejour ER for extreme abdominal pains, and was transferred to Selkirk Regional Health Centre. Stayed in the emergency ward over night and I was very impressed. It felt like a hotel room, and the nurses were consistently checking up with me to help me relieve pain. During day of my emergency surgery I was treated very well and felt very important during the whole process. Doctors removed my gallblader which was killing me so badly I couldn’t walk and determined that it was my gallblader that was causing issues within hours. Want to say thanks for this great experience, and they saved me life from the worst pain imaginable!

Management seems to pick and choose which staff they like and bully/harass the ones they don't. Consistently short-staffed, increased workload vs short-staff, petty infighting between some nurses, and lack of support from management. Do not work here.

Nena Sinclair

Truly wonderful, caring staff

This hospital has racist staff. If your Native dont go here.

I went to Emergency with only 2 other people in the waiting room and waited over 6 hours, I was finally given something to manage the pain and since it was the weekend was told I would get a call to come back for further tests. It's been 3 days now and I haven't heard back. The only positive part was the nurse was very pleasant.

Bronte Janae

Charge nurse is extremely disrespectful , asked a couple questions in regards to why my grandpa has fallen 2 times in a week , she got defensive and immediately went and got her manager. She has a real bad additude problem, should not be working in a hospital , never in my life have I ever been to a hospital that is this terrible . Something needs to change .

2019 new hospital opened. Parking is reasonable $1 per hour or $6 per day. Great staff. I drive in from Winnipeg sometimes just to save myself the waiting time. It is usually empty here. Staff is great and you get home quickly.

I dont understand why was I not allowed in the room with my loved one for a thyroid ultrasound. Different rules than in Winnipeg hospital, poor patient handling.

Worst hospital I’ve ever been in. HORRIBLE STAFF IN EMERG, HORRIBLE WAIT TIME, HORRIBLE EVERYTHING. The only thing this hospital has going for it is it’s nice looks on the outside. Ugly on the inside. Staff is rude and neglectful in Emerg. I came in by ambulance and was completely overlooked once I arrived. I waited there FOR HOURS with NO help after the nice paramedics had to leave. I needed my antibiotics and something to eat and they would not help me whatsoever. I ended up walking out because they were so neglectful that I realized I’d get better care with my family. Also, they continually hung up on my boyfriend who kept calling just to ask if I was okay. The rude “person” on the phone kept hanging up on him and wouldn’t tell him if I was okay! UNACCEPTABLE! I wouldn’t ever go back to this hospital. Thankful Winnipeg isn’t too far of a drive!

a dog would get better served by a vet, than the lack of treatment by the staff at this establishment. four hours in the waiting room followed by two hours in an emergency exam room and never saw the doctor. lesson leaned, go to Winnipeg.

Long wait time...... Waiting is always killing

I have unfortunately had my fair share of ER visits throughout Canada and the US. The environment selkirk ER creates is calm and inviting. Upon entering the ER on my last two visits (within 2 days) the nurses were kind, compassionate and always communicative. The 2 doctors I dealt with were patient; they listened, inquired and investigated to help me safely find a solution. My 1st visit, we knew I might be back, and was extended a welcome back whenever I needed it. Upon my return, the staff were equally as deligent and took their time to continue the investigation. I understand city hospitals see the masses, but if you can make the trip to Selkirk.... Do it. This hospital is the cream of the crop! Walk in with respect and kindness and you will be met with respect and kindness!

Worst hospital ever. Got hung up on by emergency after telling them about a patient that was about to die.... never again .

Ended up in emergency with abdominal pain. Every staff/nurse and doctor I crossed paths with was very helpful/professional and just put off positive energy. Thanks for nursing me back to health

Told supervisior ER nurse i was not able to take Tylenol. Sent home with a prescription for,,,, you guessed it. Tylenol. Complained to administrator, who promptly reported me to police. I won't be going back.

So did blood work and urine culture on a Friday morning. They called me Monday afternoon and said there was something wrong with sample I needed to come back again. After attempting to avoid the truth the tech finally told me the lab messed up and actually forgot my specimen in box all weekend...So it's bad. I could not believe the staff...There were more than 5 techs at the time all of which forgot to check before closing!!! I had x-ray done here as well and somehow they missed a tumor growing in lung the size of cantellope! Then in ER, I went through 5 nurses attempting to do an IV....Hot blankets, most senior nurse, didn't matter...It was terrible, they all blamed my veins. Went to HSC a month later for my next CT....Not one problem...Could not even feel it! Actually that nurse explained why the other nurses couldn't get! They need more training and also, stop doing things just because it's policy. Why have people fast for head scan when not needed or when no other hospital does. If someone comes in prepared wearing sweats and T-shirt no undergarments why must they still get undressed into similar clothing....To waste time and more money? No sense.

Have had 2 awful experiences and there seems to be no sense of urgency. Beautiful facility but leaves a lot to be desired. My husband was in there for 2 hours for 3 stitches. Was bleeding profusely as he's on warfarin and an artery in his hand had been cut but no one other than me seemed concerned. a person should feel confident ,when going to ER ,that you will be treated ASAP if the situation warrants it... Very disappointed and no improvement since my time there 2 years ago waiting 8 hours while in pain with gall bladder attack.

This hospital is fantastic!!!!! Never ever had a problem being treated professionally and with compassion from the ER to MRI and XRay Departments. We are truly fortunate to have a facility like this.

I absolutely fear hospitals and doctors but this hospital and staff were incredible for my delivery. The facility is prestine, modern and clean. The nurses were unbelievable. I had Jessica for the beginning and end, Katie for the whole labor and Irene for aftercare (and many nurses in between). All of which were so amazing and helpful. It was like a hotel for childbirth. Myself and my husband get overwhelmed with gratitude. I almost tear up thinking of how lucky we were to have our baby girl in the care of earth angels.

Always friendly and understanding weather you are physically sick or suffer from mental health issues . Nurses take time to make sure that you are doing well.

Sam

Had gone threw triage and was moved into waiting room 1. I stepped out to go to the cafeteria, when I came back to ask to be buzzed in the nurse started screaming at me about how I shouldnt be here and to go back and sit down. Refusing to let me back in. Some of there staff is amazing but others shouldnt have a job working with people. They are absolutely rude and arrogant.

Nissa Nanowin

Waited for over 7 hours for the doctor to check my mom when she laid there in pain, unable to rest and barley able breathe.

Adam

Had a stroke they just thought it was a migraine and gave me gravol for 5 hours till they figured it out so I slept though it and they wanted to send me home the next day even though I couldn't walk so I was finally sent to hsc for proper care

I recently visited the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for Diagnostic Imaging. I received excellent treatment, from the information receptionist to the department clerk to the outstanding technician Suzanne. While I was in the bright, comfortable waiting room, I was joined by two patients from Winnipeg who were in Selkirk for the first time. They were amazed at this state-of-the-art facility that demonstrates a clear appreciation for its patients and its professionals.

Waited 9 and 1/2 hours in emergency last night for a chronic back problem. Doctor only saw me for a brief moment and prescribed Naproxen, which I told them I had already tried. Feeling very disappointed sore defeated and tired!

Thank you to all the staff in ER (E9 and an overflow room) and later the 2nd floor for their excellent care. The humour, expertise and attention to detail was 2nd to none. Too many names to remember, but I suspect I will always be remembered as the patient in "The Cold Room". Thank you all very very much. Kudos to the kitchen as well. The meals were darn GOOD! Thanks to the admin staff for letting me know that 'Everyone knows Doug' :) Cheers and continued success to you all.

The absolute worst hospital in all of Manitoba. Doctors don't care about you. As soon as I was admitted they didn't give me a wristband, apparently they didn't even know I was in the waiting room. No attention to patients. Rude and no help.

Aaron Courchene

Waited over 9 hrs. And still wasn't able to get seen by a doctor

Carlos Belo

Dislocated my knee, took X Ray's and was told everything is fine and should heal in a week. Come to find out from other doctors that it is much worse than this. Unacceptable from a supposed professional, thanks to Pan am I now know what is going on.

We were there for 8 hrs.. waiting for a Dr. to see my son.. they pulled in Staff from other Departments to help out. Irene from Maternity she was the only one that made sure everybody's vitals were OK and pain medication was given to the people in pain. Kudos to this Nurse.. she was excellent.

Shelly Lauze

Arrived at 758pm. I'm waiting... asked why when I arrived. Blood pressure and migraine. I already know it's high, but no urgency to triage me. They don't know because they let you sit and wait. I'm feeling the need to ask to get my blood pressure checked. I'll update if it gets any better. 9pm triaged and 171/96 and in a room.

Ron

It's a newly build hospital. Staff in emergency are very nice. Very nice building, nice cafeteria.

Danielle Veenstra

Today I get to leave this beautiful hospital. 6 days, countless rounds of antibiotics. Round the clock care by the superhero’s that run this place. To be specific that is all the nurses. And fabulous team of doctors that care for us all. Grateful to have this standard of care here in Selkirk. Thank you to those cooking the wonderful food, it makes a difference. The health care aids who go on and beyond to help. And again, the nurses. SUPERHERO’s, every single one of you.

Brenda Roos

The care and service I received at Selkirk Hospital was great. 2 ER visits were very timely. Dr. Matter was very professional and caring. The nurses in OPD were always very accommodating scheduling appointments. During 4 months of dressing changes and IV antibiotics the nurses were caring, knowledgeable, professional, and made the environment comfortable and fun. They took time to get to know their patients. The admitting staff were always friendly and efficient. So glad to be close to a new, caring hospital! Thanks to all!

Cut my finger open . Bleeding for 2 hours and still havent seen a nurse or Doctor yet.

Some of the staff are either racist or lacking in customer service skills. The receptionist grudgingly greeted us with a "what do you want?" and seemed irritated for being disturbed from casually chatting with a co-worker. We met 2 other staff who neither smiled nor greeted us. Thankfully the nurse who admitted us was friendly enough to smile and greet us.

Taylor Yusishen

Firstly I've never seen wait times under 5 hours here but recently I Was bleeding out & lost nearly a Litre of blood in the waiting room while a strange man next to me asked "you got any of them T3's or perks? To say the least this should be less than 1 star would have gone to Mexico for better service.

Gerry Morden

Brought wife into hospital on August 20 in afternoon. Radiologist Department I believe with the help of on duty Doctor and Nurses did not quit trying to find out why my wife was having terrible headaches and throwing up. They found out after CT scan that she had a brain aneurysm. Sent her to Health Services Centre in Winnipeg. She is now recovering and will soon be home. 5 stars is not enough for being part of saving my wife's life. My family and myself thank you all.
