This review is for the New Womens building on William (not the old building on Notre Dame) My wife and I just had our first child here and I have to say what a top class medical experience from beginning to end. It makes me proud to be a Canadian that this is how our medical system treats our women bringing new citizens into the world. Clean facility, new, private rooms for postpartum. Easy parking (underground) and street parking / parkades nearby. (Pro tip - you can park after 6pm until 11am for free on Elgin and other side streets nearby) Lots of food options within walking distance (Starbucks, Subway, Pizza Hut, Tom Yum Thai) The most important reason for 5 stars - the staff. Almost every single doctor/nurse/worker we encountered was so helpful, informative and NICE. We learned so much from each nurse/doctor we met along the way. My wife and I both highly recommend this beautiful hospital.

They took such good care of me through all the states of my pregnancy and labour/delivery in this hospital.

vicki sinclair

Called triage told them my problems and they told me to come in no get checked to make sure my cervix wasn't open, 2hours later and 2 patients after me get to go in and I'm the one in pain! All I needed was to be check and they couldn't do that. Then to come out and find my vehicle is towed cause I didn't know how long I was in there.... Cause I was keeled over in pain but they didn't seem to care! Just kept telling me when the next bed opens, ya u gave them away.

Amazing experience of my first child birth. Big thanks to the amazing nurses who helped me through out this process, especially HANNA. Could not ask for a better labor and delivery nurse! Very professional, knowledgeable and 100% encouraging. Thank you

Our 1st baby was born here just a day before the covid19 lockdown. Amazing staff & doctors. They took care of my baby & wife. The only downside is parking here is very expensive.

So organzied and clean fun fact i was actually born in this hospital in 2008

My first experience (childbirth) at WHS great. The second one (surgery) not so much. The food was great as the first time and personal that was managing food and drinks through the day were friendly. You can ask for extra snacks between meals as well. Some nurses seemed pretty annoyed, in general. When after 4 hours after surgery I asked for a water refill from one of the nurses, who kept walking back and forth into my room, she rolled her eyes .... (idk, maybe I wasn’t suppose to ask her that or that’s too much for her as she is a NURSE and they not meant to bring water. No clue.) I don’t really care who brings me water, so if it’s not your job to do, just ask the responsible for that staff and don’t show patient that you don’t give a s*%t. That’s pretty rude and disrespectful to any person who practically disable to do anything on his/her own at that moment. Another moment was after 6 hours after surgery or so. The nurse that was attached to me said not try and get up to go to washroom especially if I feel dizzy (getting off the general anaesthetic and being on strong meds). The room was spinning and I didn’t want to risk falling. So I called the desk. They sent me a girl (not a nurse, I’m not sure what she was.). So asked for a bedpan and she stared at me like I was out of my mind and said “well you can just can go to a washroom. I can help if you want” ummm ok. I tried again. Explained that the room is spinning, I’m short on breath and don’t want risk falling and tear stitches in my stomach. She seemed puzzled and said she gonna ask a nurse if she can bring me a bedpan... ????????‍♀️ Another interesting moment. The doctor suppose to come after the surgery to tell me what actually happened during the surgery (as there were few possible scenarios and none of those actually happened). So first day doctor didn’t come and nurses were saying doctor will come the next morning. It’s understandable, doctors are busy and nurses don’t control them. So the next, new shift. My two nurses on question “when my doctor will come” had different answers. One was saying that normally doctors don’t come to a patient after surgery. The second one kept apologizing and trying to find the doctor. The second nurse gave me 5 different version within couple hours of what happened during my surgery. And finally in the late afternoon they were able to find the doctor. It wasn’t pleasant to hang in there and try to understand what happened and what’s next and how’s your life might change. 4 stars, as I get it, s*^t happens and nurses and doctors are humans too. But I wish people who chose a care giving career would at least pretend to care.

Great place. The lady who sits at the front of Triage needs to learn some manners. Very rude/cocky personality. Doctors/Nurses are very great and helpful.

Best hospital to have your baby at friendly nurses

I had my baby at HSC women hospital i must say all staff were truly great at their work. starting from admitting, labor RN , interns, residents, gynec and helper staff was awesome. the only thing i wish they can change is rooms are small if any one have any post delivery complications i definitely recommend their delux room because regular rooms are tiny . I am thankful to all staff for taking great care of me and a baby.

Amazing staff amazing team. My daughter was born there, they kept us updated and in the loop with everything, even if we didn’t understand half of it, still appreciate their honesty, efficiency and effectiveness. Really nice facility from triage to recovery.

If you're delivering your baby here don't worry you're in great hands. The only bad experience we had was in Triage as we waited bout 4 hours in our room before asking about any pain relief, that's when the nurse told us we would have to be taken upstairs to the delivery floor which is where we wanted to be and not in Triage. Within 20 mins we were taken up to our delivery room which is a 5 star resort compared to the triage room with just a chair for your partner but you do have your own washroom. In the delivery room there is a pull out couch and a full bathroom with bathtub. After our move upstairs everything else was top notch including the nurses and Drs. For all of the partners / to be dads out there make sure to bring some food with you if you don't plan on leaving to go get food. The delivery and recovery rooms both have fridges so I brought a few Costco muffins, cheese sticks, pepperoni sticks, and the life saver for me was some Mr. Noodles in the foam cups so you just have to ask for hot water and a fork which the nurses will gladly bring you, since you aren't admitted you don't get any hospital food. Also don't forget to bring water! Basically pretend you're camping in the bush and have to be as self dependent as you can so you can focus on your partner and being there for them <3

Waiting time is 3x than the old once. Seriously, 1 and half hours waiting then another waiting time in the room before doctors see you.

Very friendly nurses for labor and delivery. A couple things didn't go according to my preferences but I had a very fast and easy birthing experience so I was very happy in general.

We had our baby here. The nurses and doctors were wonderful; they are caring, friendly and good at what they do. I'd like to thank them here once again if they happen to read it. The building itself though is not good. The rooms are small and cold. Good to know they are moving soon.

Hannah

I was very nervous coming in for my D&C as my miscarriage was quite a traumatic loss for me. The staff here were excellent and literally held my hand the whole way through. They had trouble finding a good vein for my IV and they never made me feel uncomfortable about the extra work they had to do for me. They were all so kind and I truly appreciate the way I was treated during such a hard time.

I had to go there yesterday evening. The nurses and security are very friendly and accommodating. It was a great experience (as good as going to the hospital in the evening can get). Thank you! ????

I havw personally seen a very mixed diversity of good and bad reviews..... The hospital itself is great!!!! But the nurses/doctors are what keep me away from the full 5 stars. I understand, we're all human.... I was there to experience some horrible negative treatment towards patients... but I've also been there to experience way beyond amazing treatment towards patients. However; I had an uncomfortable experience of my own. If I can get a direct number to speak to someone about this issue; I'd greatly appreciate it. I want to avoid the rum around

Best nurses - Princess on 3rd floor and Amanda on 4th floor We came across so many nurses there during child birth but these two mentioned nurses were above and beyond satisfaction. Helped us a-lot , friendly behaviour, very resourceful and talented and main thing they both were like the way nurses should be. Some others were very rude and were there just to count hours on paycheque

Bernard Sanchez

its been 12hrs since we got here and we are still in triage, and still waiting for vacant room. But we ended up having free private room.

Nazif Burkhanov

We had an appointment today, I phoned in the morning to reschedule our appointment and left a voicemail. I never got a response back of cancellation and we came with my wife to the hospital. At the entrance, prescreening nurses told us that our appointment was cancelled and asked to wait until she gets a final confirmation. We have been waiting in the hall for 20 mins and then left with no response. Very unprofessional attitude from the staff members, specifically those who check voicemails and doctors who communicate to their patients.

Mubarak Nsekarije

All my Four Children’s were born here. I have come to know some of the staff here. Even though the building it self is old the services and staff are amazing. I love the fact that it has underground access to HSC General Hospital. This mean if you want to go and get a cup of coffee you don’t have to worry about weather or unsafe street. You can just walk all the way there in no time.

Jeanette Buenaventura

Could not have asked for a better experience giving birth to my first child back in June. The staff were over the top amazing! I could not imagine all the extra protocols they had to go through during the pandemic. So relieved and thankful they made that whole process so simple!

Kaitlin Morand

needs to be updated more in here. otherwise, no complaints.

Everything amazing, all staff amazing

(Translated) Two stars give conditions and one star gives the attitude of medical care. The conditions of the newly built Women’s hospital are considered good in Winnipeg hospitals, parking is also very convenient, and the overall attitude of the doctors and nurses is very kind and friendly. However, I had to question the professionalism. I told the nurse to open two fingers at the triage table. At that time, I told the nurse that I wanted to have no pain. Then I waited for a long time. I was not pushed upstairs until two hours later. By that time, my wife was already grinning in pain. After arriving in the delivery room, there was a head nurse. He said that he couldn't hit painless after he opened his ten fingers. At that time, he wanted to scold the street, and then he was ready to push. As a result, just after the push, the head nurse said again , Ah, with only seven fingers, it can still be hit without pain. At that time, I was really speechless. The efficiency of universal health insurance was low. I recognized it after waiting two hours at the beginning. This was called the head nurse. I thought it was a trump card and turned out to be a bronze. I was really drunk.

It was horribly cold, the bed was unbelievably uncomfortable, I felt like I was strapped to the bed and couldn't move around while in labour. The one nurse we had was very sweet, but the other one not so much. Once I got my midwives back it was great. Could not get me out of that hospital fast enough!

Mr Greenlay

Horrible place to have your baby at when my baby girl was born she was crying and the nurse said "shut this annoying kid up" literally not even 5 minutes after she was born don't remember her name but her accent was British. And when I was pushing she kept dropping my legs and I had an epidural so I couldn't hold them up myself she would get so mad at me and I was in so much pain as she just came in the last hour and I had already been pushing for 9 hours. I didn't get to have my doctor had some creepy guy who didn't even know English and smiled every time looking down there. He also stopped half way threw stitching and went to talk to the person he was training (yes students watched) and then came back after 40 minutes and stitched me up. Never again

So very thankful for such wonderful nurses and doctors each time I need to go, the facility is always clean and my experiences having my children with your hospital has been amazing.

Filthy. Dirty building, walls, cabinets crusty with black dirt, no less than 2 medical “professionals” had dirty fingernails. Slow with inexperienced staff constantly saying they “need to check with their boss”, and in for 9 hours before they were finished checking me. I had my first there 11yrs ago... nothing’s changed.

Allen Alejandro

The new building has it's own underground parkade. Accessible from Sherbrook St. As it is heated, the automatic doors are always closed so don't get hesitate to drive down slowly until it opens. I've seen some drivers got confused. Rate is expensive but it's very convenient. Parking payment procedure is the same as at William parkade. Get your ticket from the gate, park and take the ticket with you, go for your appointment. When you're done, pay via cash or card at the machine by the elevator. I think you have 10 minutes to exit the gate.

The Colposcopy clinic is the worst clinic in all of Canada. The staff is just awful. The “receptionist” should not be allowed to work in healthcare. Awful human being that doesn’t know how to and hates her job. If you can avoid going here, please do so!

Mary Killulark

The hsc womens hospital were there even though I didn't want them to only because I needed my fluids, 1 and half week, there.

Been sitting here forever. I was told to come in for 10am I've now been 15 hours without food or water and been asking for pain medication for 3 hours. They also forgot about me in admitting....They've also lost and found 2 patients over the intercom.... gong show

Kathy Conney

The staff are nice. This place couldn’t be shut down faster though, it is a dump. Very dirty and run down. The chairs in the waiting room downstairs are black from filth.

Kirstin McIvor

I just got off the phone with receptionist, who had sent me on a goose chase and connect to lines that aren't even open yet! Simply asked if she could pull my doctors name and she hung up on me!! Terrible service this morning.

Up until today I would’ve given 5 stars. June 2020 I had a baby boy. Everyone was amazing. I went in wanting a VBAC however baby was not cooperating. The staff was great at coming up with ideas to try to make it happen however I ended up in a C-section. Now, I have a baby that is due within the next 10 days. I went in for a fetal assessment yesterday and got sent to triage. The nurses were what I remembered. Amazing ppl that wanted to help. I got discharged but told to go back today and this is where I would start to give a review of 2/3 stars only. The nurse was rude and didn’t even look into my chart. She kept telling me I shouldn’t be there and did not listen to a thing I had to say. After 4.5 hours (1-2 of being assessed and 2-2.5 hours of being ignored, I left in tears and definitely will not be going back until I absolutely have to. I just hope I never have to see this nurse again.

Gracey Villafuerte

From the Doctors to all the staff, everyone's amazing and accomodating.

The new building is beautiful, the staff was so helpful and amazing during my whole labour. The rooms are huge and even have a bed for partners and family to rest while waiting for baby to come. This was my first baby and the staff was so calm and supportive. Huge thanks to everyone at HSC.

Horrible care. Left my girlfriend laying in her bed with an open infected cesaerian INCISION for OVER 2 HOURS. The nurses were embarassed by the lack of urgency of the doctors. They sent her home and set up home care to change her dressing once a day. Day 1 home care doesnt show up, they forgot to set a start date for her daily dressing change.... ???? fortunately their heads are attached to their shoulders or they would lose them. If you want to hear apologies and excuses for poor care, followed by more poor care come to this hospital.

kaylene crane

I’m newly pregnant and made appointment, but I keep getting calls to reschedule later and later dates, Been having pains and I just want to know if my baby is okay.

Russell Jackson

The staff are ignorant the fact they leave patients wait alone using covid as the bullsheet excuse cant have a compasion care member with you. Its sad all that money spent for a better building and equipement you would think a little compasion trainning would have been done but nope jokes on the public

Krista Friesman

I've had longish stays in many hospitals. The doctors here were much more worried about my comfort and did not send me home too early to take care of myself. They made sure I know I can go back to triage instead of emergency. The nurses were wonderful and the doctors were east to talk to and helpful. These are by far more comfortable beds than any hospital I've stayed in. The room may have been cold but that's what blankets are for. A lot of the negative comments sound like women who assume that their own issue is the most important.

Crouton B B

This place is wonderful. It may be a new building, with new technology, and beautiful personal rooms, but the staff is what builds the structure here. I can’t explain the comforting feeling my spouse and I felt here. Every single employee here loves their job and it sure shows. We will most definitely be coming back ;) Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou. From the receptionist to the delivery doctor, we Thankyou All! <3
