Please go somewhere else to seek medical attention, I came in for problems with my veins and was throbbing which has been a problem for 2 years and I told them that and they asked me about 5 times if I was on drugs and I told them no, they doctor did not do an assessment on me at all and the nurses didn’t do no tests on me, nothing at all and when the doctor did come in he asked me slowly and loudly “ARE YOU ON METH” and I said I said no I am not on meth and he said that’s why my veins hurt and kept telling me goodbye like 3 times and said go home I was so upset asking why he did not do no tests and he said there’s nothing wrong with me and didn’t answer any of my 6 questions I asked and I’m First Nation and I made a complaint and they said they put my file away like after only an hour I was just there so please do not come here
Easily accessible. However, paid parking everywhere. Not fair at all for people who need to frequent the hospital.
Absolutely horrible experience everytime. Unles your literally on your death bed i would stay away. 5 hour waits are not uncommon
very good
What a joke of an ER. go in with Chest pain, they dont even do an EKG or bloodwork. Make me sit and wait for 3 hrs till I advocate for myself. Apparently unless you're visibly hurt they wont take you seriously
Was transferred to HSC from Seven Oaks. The doctors and nurses were amazing. The staff here turned the scariest week of my life into one of the most reassuring hospital stays I've ever had.
I've been to this facility for ongoing therapy multiple times, including two hospitalizations. The doctors I have seen have been less than helpful and I was sent home while actively suicidal.
Waiting time 5 hours to enter to emergency if you lucky with no patients
The hospital is empty of staff and patients. Went in a few years back and pack all day and night. Recent visit was strange and hard to find out where to go since no staff except at entrance.
Dr. Silvaggio, in the Neurosurgery Clinic, is an incredible doctor. Makes you feel very comfortable and confident in your decisions, making sure you have all the information. Definitely makes the experience a more positive one. Would highly recommend him.
Could be better
They had gave me a form for medication and it was under someone elses name. Also had a leave form that was under that same name that wasnt mine! Im not going back during a pandemic to ask for a new one! You should be mailing it to me! They dont care at all here. Health inspections should be done with the neligence of this place
Our grandchild is in the NICU in Children's Hospital and the care she has received has been extraordinary. The Drs, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, cleaning staff and all the backup staff have been amazing. So knowledgeable, kind and professional.
All times I went with bad wounds they think I'm just another pill popping savage and never give me anything fir pain. Sometimes i wish they suffered the stab wounds and hashes I had see what meds they would need. Smh too many ppl ruin it fir the ppl who really need medication. And the doctors are slow annd unprofessional
Took my father to emerg. They sent him home saying "they need the bed, he's not sick enough". Sent him home with the wrong prescription and called back today saying he needs to pay and fill another one. What kind of doctors work here??? Unprofessional.
They are a help to the city
An absolute triumph of an experience. The greatest mental health staff I have ever encountered so far. Thank you to that team for doing what they are doing!
They are a help to the city
I was here for a week. The Doctors/Nurses and staff at the ER were so nice and know what to do. Found out I had to undergo surgery and admitted for 5 days. Kudos to the Doctors/Nurses/Health Care Aids at the Surgical Department! They treat their patients at their best care.
Gets to the root of the issues that are going on. I was very happy with him finding what has been going on
Mistake
I’ve been coming to HSC ever since I was a kid. Every hospital is going to have it’s cons and it’s pros. It’s the hospital I went to when I first got sick and I was diagnosed with this rare disease. I got diagnosed within three days of being there. The nurses, the doctors, they wouldn’t give up on me. The staff was so supportive and so helpful, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. My experience there is nothing but good.
Abominable wait times. Our public health care at it's finest! Not that they care what their rating is, not as if we have another option, it's the only children's hospital in Winnipeg. How absurd
I was in HSC earlier for an appointment which required an x-ray. Upon entering general x-ray office I notice one woman working at the desk (left side when looking at the desk) coughing freely without covering her mouth, or when covering using her hand. This woman obviously has a cold or something and despite there being a "Cover your Cough" sign 3 feet away from her, as well as all over the hospital, she was coughing like she doesn't know any better or could care less about giving it to patients. Her job requires taking people's health cards and handing them back along with a sheet, which would easily transmit the cold. Completely irresponsible and careless. I left without getting the x-ray as I was concerned for my health.
I always get nice service for the staff.
Staff is slow and rude.. you wait forever.. questions aren't answered.. go to Grace Hospital if you want to be treated nor mally ????????
One of the best hospitals in Canada!!
You must have this guy's hotdog. The 5 stars are for him . And please don't forget to hit the like button.
The best trauma hospital in Winnipeg. Amazing and compassionate security, nurses and doctors are there to help and treat you. The emergency staff are the best in the city.
A good place to Donate Loyalty Points to a Good Cause!!!
Unbelievably rude staff. I have been waiting 20 hours and no one has come and seen me assessed me done anything. They just give you a card and say oh sorry sorry. The nurses cus out the patients, they lie to you and say oh we can’t give any blankets to you etc etc. just a joke . I asked them after waiting 20 hours oh your vitals are fine don’t worry so it might be another 12 hours . Like other people said better to die
It was what it was ....almost all the time there is incident wit rinston....he's a funny lilman ...always looking for a willing participant to join his hooliganism wit his witch lurks around corners chasing him..lol
My uncle and dad had a surgery here my uncle donated a kidney to my dad the surgery went by great except my uncle had a very crappy room it always smelled like pee and his roomate always had the radio on full volume from which he didnt get any rest from the nurses should really care for the patients rest
Waiting over an hour to see a specialist. Very frustrated. Waiting times in clinics needs improvement.
Busy hospital wait times high but not there fault it’s busy, great staff emergency dept amazing!!
The hospital is empty of staff and patients. Went in a few years back and pack all day and night. Recent visit was strange and hard to find out where to go since no staff except at entrance.

Horrible. The emergency room is the worst place and the most unprofessional and unpleasant. I had been waiting all day and then had to leave because I was not allowed to get food nor have a bed. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending towards all patients. I kindly asked one of the nurses to charge my phone and 20 minutes later when wanting it back they lost it and the nurse who initially took it was nowhere to be found! And hour later the receptionist came with it and then proceeded to call me colourblind! for not describing the scrubs of the nurse properly when I gave a clear description of what he actually looked like. Other patients with concussions and whom were fainting/vomiting were told that it wasn’t that bad and they were fine. Do not ever come here!
This hospital is useless. The staff are useless in the medical department. Parametrics are wonderful. Front desk is unknowledgable and unsympathetic. I came in after a gran Mal seizure and got in 10 pm. Waited until 2 for them to take my vidals waited until 4 to be sat in the waiting room. Then they took another blood test and wouldn't explain why they just wouldnt have drawn an extra tube when the needle was in me the first place. I kmow I'm not educated in the medical field but at least have the respect to explain why u r doing what you are to me. Currently still sitting 5am waiting to see a Dr and the won't even tell me if the Dr will write my prescription I need. The one star is for the parametric. The rest of you stink at your jobs. Could all be for not I have no clue.
I must say waiting time has improved. Parking can be difficult. I see a lot construction going on in the area. Hopefully they are expanding.
where is ron?
terrible service refusing patients water and food!! very discriminatory! no wonder this place only has 3 stars
Emergency services available at The Health Sciences Center
Quality hospital
Help my mom. You are ignoring her during her stay, please watch her. anyone who is reading this please believe when i say they're giving her a bad time. right now they are ignoring her calls. more reviews to come as our journey during this bad time is being documented. thank you for reading. im not letting her be alone with you doctors
I had broken my ankle a couple of days ago, I was taken to HSC and the treatment and care I received was outstanding from my NP to the doctor’s. They were remarkable and I knew I was in good hands!
Great doctors and staff. Wait times are long, but that's just our country.
Emergency waiting would be tolerable if the waiting room didn’t stink like urine. Choking on the stank, I moved to a different section and some nasty checkin lady tells me “too bad sit there”. All while I’m having an allergic reaction to the scents and the urine. My wait time on a Thursday afternoon was 7 and 1/2 hours. The emerg team who finally saw me was thorough. They did an X-ray and ct scan to find my problem. The doctors and nurses were GREAT but the wait and the one nasty lady at the front really deserve only 1 star...... and there was a lady sitting beside me with a collapsed lung who also had to wait.......... I don’t know what a priority is there. We really got to see a ton of problems in that waiting room during the almost 8hr stay. Nasty, dirty place!
Long long wait times unless your in danger of eminent death
This has to be one of the best ER in Winnipeg. Yes waiting time is 3-5 hours but that is for other ERs in the city too. Dr. and nurses are funny, kind and knowledgeble. From begining Nurse who checked my blood pressure and temp to Dr who treated me - they did listen to me, asked questions and super super nice to me..
Fast not long of a wait
It will be nice if they can hire a doctors who can actually take care of people than wasting their dying life waiting for someone who can rescued them when they dont want to die from sickness.
Is growing for the healthy of us .
The absolute ignorance and lack of concern by staff during a pandemic is just appalling
They saved my life.
Lot's of good specialist's here for all your health needs. very good neurosurgeory department also! Has been a great help to me.
not very clean. good maps & directions. most staff are nice.
I was admitted to emergency on June 29th 2017. I fainted, from this new medication I was on, and fell down a flight of stairs. Long story short, I went to my follow up today, with Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Goytan. The (very kind) assistant, Tanis, told me I would be seeing Dr. Goytan to fill out my GWL forms. GWL is an insurance company, and I understand their job is to "get rid of me". At first, I thought, "who the heck is this? I thought Dr. Goytan was seeing me?". This man had the bedside manner of a nurse! And one of the best nurses I'd ever seen! Not just one of the top rated Orthopedic Surgeons in Canada. (And from reviews, I believe THE best in Manitoba. After he showed me my x-rays, and said "This is what I...." I realized it really was the Doc. I cried. I cried because it has been an awful ordeal for me and to have my actual surgeon be so freaking KIND, was more than I ever expected. To anyone who has gone through something as horrible as near death, I truly hope you experience the kindness of a doctor that actually performed the life-saving surgery. He is truly one of those doctors that may have reached the top of his profession, but it is so very obvious that he is still here for the same reason he got into his job, studied hard, paid his tuition, and CARES so much...his original reason, to help, is beyond obvious!!!!.
My biggest hit came when I woke up in this ER, by myself aside from Doctors who at this point, demonstrated by their grasp of my condition, that they literally could not my match my current understanding of this serious disorder and its cause. This is a very questionable situation considering the context behind what happened to bring me there.
Located in a not so nice area of the city. Not really the hospitals fault. I’ve been here for a number of reasons as they have a lot of services. Last time I was here they called a code black. Not because of me. Some guy had a shotgun and was running around another part of the hospital. No one was allowed to come in or out of the emergency room. Anyways. Staff are usually friendly but you can tell they’re overwhelmed. Housekeeping does their best to keep up with the cleanliness of the ER but it’s always so incredibly busy in there and some people are really gross.
It is not clean. The staff are nice and helpful.
Urology department sucks, they do not do their job in a professional manner and the waiting time for small kidney stone removal has been over 1 year and they never bother preforming a 30 minute day surgery in a timely manner. Urologist Dr. ERIC SALTEL isn't helpful at all. He kept me wait for a 4mm kidney stone procedure over 1 year. His secretary lady SHERRY is one of the worst unprofessional rude person I have ever spoken to. She is just there for her biweekly salary. She treats patients like a trash, she should be fired and held accountable for abusing patients.

As long as they save my life I'm good.
SJust received my covid 19 shot. No side effects. My wife had a few but they were gone the next day.
Awesome place
Emergency services is great.
I called respiratory clinic and the lady wasn’t paying any attention as I needed some records for my medical purposes. I called 3 times and after that she kept me on hold for long time. She should know people call for emergency in hospitals.
Dangerous
Saved my boys life! Love u guys!
We have been in high risk pregnancies a bunch of times and the care we received was absolutely fantastic! They cared so much for us and our baby's. the fetal assessment ward was amazing as well! Our children wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for this hospital.
I have my reasons
Very clean and well organized. Professional and courteous.
The emergency staff are great.
What do I pay taxes for
Winnipegs largest hospital and primary trauma center. Have had both good and bad experiences here... like alot of things that involve a human factor depends who you get
I broke my elbow on August 3 went to get a cast two days later they called me in for surgery I had five pins put in my elbow Dr. Thompson is one of the nicest doctors she’s one of the friendliest professional doctors I had three or four visits with her thanks to her professional work my elbow has been fully healed thanks to Dr. Thompson I can resume to whatever I want highly recommend a duck doctor hopefully y’all don’t have to go through what I did but she is the most friendly doctor n most hard-working Dr.
Have been waiting 8hrs to get to see a doctor.worst hospital in the city.we should be asshamed.st.B. is the best
Big place so I was attracted
Not that I got a room there even though I need to be close to the hospital. I refuse to go to seven oaks from a bad experience I had. I asked for help you would think someone would help.. Now I lay in so much pain tired and scared.
By far the worst hospital in the entire city.
It was the place where I had a second chance at life 2009
I was an emergency patient on May 1st multiple open fractures on my foot. The staff are professional efficient and compassionate. The service was phenomenal. I had surgery within 12 hours and discharged 48 hours later upon my request. The culture of care is amazing. I thank each and every individual that I met there that took care of me. God bless all of you Greg Yaremko
Pleasant staff during an unpleasant procedure. They made me as comfortable as they could.
Worst hospital I've ever been to currently have a family member in there has been admitted for almost 1 year due to injuries they yell at ,him they have disfigured his body due to negligence and have we currently have recordings for lawyer of how they treat and talk to patients animals get treated better then the patients at this poor excuse of a hospital it's not just the nurse and aids its also the doctors it's an awful place if u have a choice go to a different hospital
No free drugs was disappointed
Doctors are great cleaning staff was very rude and annoying
I've really appreciated your staff acting like cops, insinuating that Its a brand of oppositional disorder that brought me here with my latest siezure. Tomorrow, I'll be meeting with a Dr. Seamus to talk about meds. Dylantin. Not happening. If your Dr. Jackson had done his job and directed me to the WCB instead of telling me that my siezure disorder was absolutely not related to stress, none of this would have happened. Its a simple fact that I dropped my Keppra dose by 2 grams successfully for 5 years, only experiencing siezure when my INR is out of control. I will die of something treatable, preventable here because you quite simply have no respect for me. B12-deficiency, allergy to sunlight, irritability all seperate symptoms of a stress disorder caused by work. I've had enough.
not a racist person at all but the filipino workers are extremely rude and into their own people and racist towards others who aren’t filipino, they are too cliquey, and pick on new workers, act like they can boss everybody around and only hire family members, never seen so much family working all together. workers sleep during their shifts and get away with it, take long breaks and they get away with it, good to know where our taxes going. no surprise that they all get away with it considering that their managers are either filipino or family. would give negative stars if possible. i feel so ashamed that this happens in a country where our greatest strength is supposed to be diversity, and that this happens at a workplace where you’re supposed to help others, very disappointing.
It was what it was ....almost all the time there is incident wit rinston....he's a funny lilman ...always looking for a willing participant to join his hooliganism wit his witch lurks around corners chasing him..lol
Would rather drive an hour out of the city for all future treatments. Worst receptionist/clerks I've ever dealt with. They dont give you time to explain the reason you're calling, they just cut you off and transfer you to another department. They speak unprofessionally on the call and in person and avoid naming their supervisors like their lives depend on it.
Everything was great except for the food and housekeeping, bed riden since Friday in my room, go to use the bathroom on Monday and there's urine on the floor, housekeeping came to "clean" it up, the urine is still on the floor.
In the Day surgery office 3rd floor Bison.. There is a lady wearing glasses and a 7 dwarf scrubs.. she is a clerk... Unreal how this person does not work... has chit chat and laughing all day distracting others and people in the waiting area talking about her lack of work.... Human resources needs to straighten this person out... #getbacktowork
the Nurse and doctors are all pretty nice and have always taken good care of my children... and taught me how to care for my children after we got home... wait time is a bit long but id rather wait for help then have No help at all ...
Very busy hospital with limited parking. Watch out for tow trucks and be careful parking on the street during the day before 5:30 pm. Has Tim's, Starbucks and Canada Inns hotel. Nurses are overworked and can sometimes be grumpy which is understandable in their line of work. They sometimes forget to inform the love ones of patients who are waiting patiently for information and status.
very highly trained and proffesional people!
GH4 excellent staff
Doctors and nursing staff in the ER are outstanding and truly know how to make patients feel as comfortable as possible. Dr. Hill and Nick (ER nurse) were amazing. They were extremely thorough in their testing and take all matters seriously. THANK YOU!
The security guards here are creepy. Very creepy. If they give you a hard time, call a lawyer.
Idk
This place has gotten me through some scary health issues ad the doctors, nurses, ad the ladies at the desk when you first walk in! They have a smile that says not just hi but things are going to be okay ! I at first when had to go into HSC it was about a bump on my chin, went in shaking, breathing hard ad fast , playing with my fingers just scared ! Well by the time i was in the room ad done the staff were honest , supportive ad made the whole experience that much easier! They did it with laughter ad just talked alot ! I came back to find I had cancer of the skin , i was scared but the doctor ad staff again made it easy ad i did the test again ! It felt good when results came back it was benign! Have been there lots more times it isnt so scary anymore ! Thanks to the staff , nurses ad doctors of HSC !
Great place to visit if you want to get mistreated and die early!! Unknowledgable doctors and nurses, lack of training and professionalism!!!
Map pamphlets of various floors need to be at the entrance. I cringe any time I have to go here, and it always looks and feels so dirty upon entering.
Winnipeg Health Care system is by far one of the world's worst failure system. 3rd world Health Care services are 100% better than this failed Manitoba's Health Care services. Simply nasty, patient abusive and long wait useless system. No light at the end of tunnel when you depend on Canadian Healthcare System. Animals receives better treatment than humans. Failure system and treatment. Absolute shameful one of world's worst most unorganized and useless UNHUMANE Health Care System.
Health science is member one in all manitoba hospital, emergency services is great ,Doctors etc..I wish all the hospital would take example from health science hospital!!!!!!
Let me remind you its not a emergency hospital. Its just another waiting hospital to see a doctor. You will die here waiting. Please do not come if you have emergency.its better to die home peacefully.
Big thanks to the doctors for stitching up my face after I got into a fight with a guy over which Coen Brothers movie is the best. I still insist I'm right, and next time around, he better not get in my face when he tells me The Big Lebowski is better than Blood Simple.
