Long wait times, care is often sketchy, parking is terrible to find and access. The layout of the hospital is pretty bad, to walk from the main entrance to emergency requires going outside and walking around the hospital. It wouldn't be my first choice for hospitals, if I had an alternative option. It's clean and modern, but terribly organized and laid out. Emergency parking all requires walking uphill as well.

Nick Phillips

Absolutely HORRIBLE hospital. By far the worst hospital in Manitoba. I wouldn’t go here if my leg was cut off. Absolutely ridiculous

Carry Falk-Friesen

Security is useless and unprofessional. When they aren't sitting on the phone having personal conversations, they are literally reading newspapers. I believe these guards belong to Steinbach Security which is no surprise. They all wear different uniforms, some have security patches, others wear just a t shirt. Some wear hi-vis inside the building I can't imagine why. You are either directed to the screening staff, or to wait in line at triage depending on where they're going. Someone asked a question about parking for Bethesda place and the guard had no idea where to send them, even I know that's on Hospital street not Henry. There was an altercation involving a patient last week that I witnessed and the guard wasn't allowed to leave their desk, or they just didn't have the power to do anything about it. Police had to be contacted anyways. These "guards" don't make anyone feel safe. They don't help the patients. They serve very little purpose to the staff. Why have these place holders sitting at the desk wasting your budget? I will be driving to Winnipeg next time I need to visit a hospital. This place is a mess!

well i have a broken ankle and all they do is ask me the number or pain.. i keep saying 9 or 10 but yet they give me nothing and let me suffer. they wont even try to fix it so i can go hope... i dont mind waiting but 2 hrs in big room and now over 2 hrs in small room... please hire ppl that are competent. this is horrible

Some really quality and caring people here.

Craig Larocque

Great nurses and professional. Only complaint I have is the wait times. Ended up waiting 6 hours last time I was there.

Maryann Lepp

Christmas cheer to all our nurses, doctors and staff, including volunteers at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre. We proudly support and acknowledge your hard work during these difficult times. May you continue to have courage and strength, and blessings to you all this Christmas season!

I've had one excellent experience here 6 years ago when my daughter was born. Unfortunately, it was the only good experience I've had. Every single visit to that hospital after has been absolutely horrendous. Extremely long wait times (6hrs + every visit) - yesterday was a 12hr wait). There also doesn't seem to be any systems in place to check up on patients periodically. The staff there are usually nice and knowledgeable, but it seems like you have to kick and scream to get any help in that place. There is a lack of overall professionalism and communication in that place as well. I have also yet to experience a decent doctor there. All of them seem very tired of their job, just do minimal tests, push pills, and send you on your way. I'm aware that this seems to be the trend for the Canadian health care system, but I've visited several Winnipeg hospitals (which are far more busy, and way understaffed), and yet they will do their best to get you the help you require. I believe this hospital's issue is with overall management. I don't know if it's inexperienced, or the people in charge are just dinosaurs, but something HAS to be done at the management level to see any sort of changes at the care taking level. I feel sorry for the staff at that hospital, because I'm sure they don't get the respect, or compensation, they deserve. But, I expect nothing less in this corrupt religious town.

Wait times are terrible

I was accused of lying about my stolen I D....and because I'm not Mennonite...everyone with minor stuff is being seen before me. I have a swollen broken hand andthey are literally changing there wait time that they display because I'm not part of there community so I'm obviously not important...

They dont know what they are doing and rude and the make you wait for hours and hours i will be going to ste annes from now on

Went for CAT scan. In and out 20 min. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Worst experience ever at the worst hospital ever. We waited 9h at the ER, and the Dr (lady) didn't take care of the dying patients (they were 6) but staying on her desk instead. A déconseiller fortement! A moins que vous voulez que votre cas s'aggrave. A bon entendeur, salut!

Amazing care!

Is there an option to select 0 stars? Service is just plain awful. Doctors are great if you get a chance to see them before dying of old age in the waiting room. Took my daughter in at 4pm on a Tuesday with a broken arm. They said it wouldn't be until after midnight until they would be able to see her. Nevermind the maze to get anywhere, the construction, and the horrible parking. Is it too late to demolish the building, and start from scratch?

F Tee (Pel)

Slow, slow, slow, slow service. I'm not sure why, but it takes 5 hours to see 5 patients, and consultations typically last 5 minutes. Never go there without a survival kit: a good book, an ipod, some snacks, and a ton of patience!

Linda Hudrick

From the ER care right down to nurses aid, the staff was kind, caring and managed my care professionally. The ER doctor made sure every possibility was exhausted. Dr Mott carried on with my care with true compassion, and ensured continued care. The nurses were attentive and were there to brighten your day. The meals were top notch as well. Thanks for the care!

Carolyn Fox

If I could give 0 stars I would. Reading the other reviews stating that you have to actually be dying in order to receive care is actually inaccurate. Even while you are dying you and your family will not receive care or compassion. Please, to anyone reading this - do NOT take your loved one here to receive palliative care. It will make your heart shatter into a million pieces.

Just had a baby in their birthing ward, excellent staffing, super helpful, clean. Third we have had there and an all around great experience.

Vince Sydorko

Showed up here with a fairly minor gash on my ankle. There were 5 patients ahead of me when I checked in at 5:30pm. At 9 pm we were moved into a room thinking we'd be seen shortly. It's 1 am and still haven't been looked at. Several nurses at the station. What on earth?? Terrible, unacceptable & so frustrating. Should've stayed home and got my dad to sew me up. May have hurt but the job would be over and I'd be sleeping!!!

I was diagnosed with Covid at this hospital they were very helpful

The good thing about this place is you get there like a VIP and you never have to wait

Natanaela Ralaimiarison

they are waiting your child dying of pain for several hours (9h) before they take care of you. they need to improve their service.

Terrible ER staff. They very rude and uncaring. Shameful

I feel like there should be a scorecard for medical facilities. Like... (and many more) Your doctor gets 8/10 Nursing staff 9/10 Triage staff 8/10 Cleanliness 7/10 Wait time 9/10 Other 10/10 (nobody does other like Bethesda) This report card is subject to change if my wife ends up in worse shape when she gets home.

1st off; I attended the emergency room a few days ago and was admitted overnight for an emergency procedure the next day (dual scope) an endoscopy and colonoscopy. 2nd: The care and compassion given to me by every health staff I encountered on my stay was beyond what I ever expected or imagined 3: I don't know who but while shivering and waiting in my room I woke up from a nap with warm blankets on me. That was a great feeling 4; Prior to all this I had an extreme fear of the hospital and had serious anxiety issues with being at the hospital. As of today February 4th, I'm home.and recovering from the procedure, I have less pain, and I have hope and faith again, they said they were 100% they could fix my problem and even called my wife while I was sedated to confirm procedure of banding a hemroid. 5: I called Johnathan to let him know already how much more comfortable I am if I were to need medical help again and thank him for his words and persistence at the time when my hemoglobin was 40s and I was critically sick. 6: If it was not for Bethesda hospital and all the staff that have been hands on with me during my blood transfusions and my current surgery/scope, I would possibly be dead because of how critical my levels are and the emergent care I needed I kept running from. 7; From the bottoms of mine and my wife's heart (and all my friends and my MOM) thank you to all staff that gave me their time and efforts to give me life when I simply was struggling just to live day to day.

Arnold Friesen

wife and I had our first child at this hospital, everyone was super nice and willing to help. Offered great advice and words of comfort and encouragement. Thanks everyone at Bethesda :)

This place is horrible. I understand the business and high priorities but this is actually insane. We arrived at 10:30 AM. We sat in the waiting room until 3:30 PM (5 hours). It took at least an hour for a single nurse to get a patient. Eventually we were called in- only to sit and wait for a doctor in a different room. X Rays and blood work were done somewhat quick. We have been sitting in the Exam room. It is 6:30 PM. It is deathly hot in here and updates are few. 8 hours now at the hospital. I don't know whether to start hunting for food or accept my fate.

Maddi Martin

The wait times are absolutely ridiculous. Even if it’s trauma and you’re in excruciating pain you’re looking at a 2 plus hour wait. Some of the staff here are snarky and rude. They don’t make you feel comfortable at all. You’re often forgot about and have to fend for yourself here

Kait W

Giving -100000000 worst place promised out patient care only to never get it. Present with mental problems only to be sent home. This place is not a hospital it is a waiting placement home. They are quacks would take the drive to Winnipeg to be neglected there rather then here. Major ageisim and neglect. Worse place in the south east and that's saying something.

Nicky K192

The service provided to my daughter was excellent but the fact there is no Wi-Fi for patients and or visitors or even employees while they're on a break is disturbing in this day and age. I was there for a 8 hours and having no communication with family to give updates unless you stand outside to use our personal phones is not ideal!! ???? Now that the construction is over, time to upgrade and get technology!

Edit: Have been in the er 9 x this year and I realize that the staff are doing the best they can and I for one have learned to be patient. Ofcourse there is the odd one that will give you a hard time but I am very grateful for every one of them and thank them from the bottom of my heart❤..done edit... am currently in the er since 8 AM it is now 4:30 pm ...in extreme pain..have not had a bowel movement for a month and they are not doing anything about it. If I die in here I want this to be known by the public that I was not looked after.... they are doing nothing for me...keep telling me to be patient...

Randy Belmore

Very nice a professional staff.

Total wait time for an ultrasound in my home province: 6 months Total wait time for an ultrasound at Bethesda while I'm visiting Steinbach: 3 hours starting when I walked into emergency ending when I walked out.

Marita George

Josh Mantey

Been here multiple times with my wife, every time register and wait for 4-5 hours, without even seeing a doctor. No urgency, you have to be dying to get immediate help.

DeafieScotty

Awful awful place to go. Very unprofessional. I can’t even see my own father that have major stroke because visitor hour is over. I’m his son! Not visitor! Also horrible service for baby labour as well. We alway go to Winnipeg First before this. If you have someone in really bad shape or work in process (learning motor) go somewhere else! River View, etc they allow family member visit at anytime!

Yandere-Chan

I take back everything I've ever said about this place. I came here to get a urine test done. I sat there waiting for 3 hours, with pains increasing as every minute had gone by. The worst part about all of this is that I did not get seen. I couldn't stay there for any longer. If I want to feel miserable, I'll just feel miserable at home until the clinic is open. I told the nurse I was feeling sick, and I needed to lay down, but she told me to sit down. People with minor things wrong with them got in before me. If I have a kidney infection, I blame bethesda. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Worst hospital I've ever been to.

Tea is good for depression

Oof 7 hours is a lot, I've been in here that long. The nurses are nice but the doctors are utterly useless....

Madeline Rupert

This hospital, like many, prioritizes patients by how urgently they need care. In this way they reduce fatalities. Yes, the wait times can be frustrating, especially if you have a non life threatening condition, but the times I've taken my children, a triage nurse regularly did rounds of the waiting area to check patients' vitals. Anyone whose condition was worsening over time got bumped up the wait list. I myself was provided with powerful painkillers once while waiting to have my wrist x rayed. This is how emergency rooms SHOULD function when there are limited doctors available. If you are not dying and want to be seen first come first served, go to a walk in clinic. If the thought of waiting for competent medical care drives you mad, find a doctor or nurse practitioner who does house calls & pay out pocket for the convenience.

I was asked to report to the lab on Monday morning to drop my sample off. The girl at the security desk is basically a greeter, she said hi to me then looked back down at her desk or maybe her phone. I walked to get screened down the hall and they don't take your name or any information. Just ask if you've been out of the province and usual covid screening. You get a paper tag and wear it but you're told to walk to the lab on your own. When I got there it was empty! I was able to walk right into the lab!!!! I could touch people's paperwork, the computers, there was absolutely no one watching surveillance or anything. The door to the lab was wide open and no one inside. You can just walk around in this hospital wherever you want! I'm from Grunthal so I don't have many options but what kind of hospital is so insecure?

Destiny Penner

Would give it a 0 if I could. Absolutely terrible place to go. Unclean, unprofessional, unhelpful.

Devon Oliveira

I personally haven’t had to visit here, however I have a family member who is currently there. Over and over this family member would go into city hospitals and be dismissed and sent home on his way after waiting 6 + hours. Only to be told he was fine and ship him off and never take him seriously. He has now been here for 2 days and they are doing everything they can to provide him with the best care all while calling his family to give continual updates. It’s sad this hospital has been given such bad reviews based on wait times and triage nurses because that’s pretty much the same everywhere. I thank this place for finally doing something for my family member, and not giving up on him.

Brad

Nurses never check up and you’ll be waiting for ever all the workers ever do is chitchat it’s a shame my taxes pay people to have conversations

I don't go to the hospital often, but reading the reviews I see a bunch of inaccurate information. The entrance is now at ground level with an elevator. There is a hallway between the hospital entrance and the ER. The layout is easy to find your way around. The issue one person had with the triage desk not being private is a pretty average setup for hospitals around Manitoba. The wait times can still be an issue, but you can never be sure what they are dealing with behind the doors. Also, patients are treated based on their acuity at triage, like every other hospital. Very clean facility. And note, if there is only one person behind the triage desk, it's probably the clerk, NOT A NURSE! Parking isn't fantastic.

Loulou lou

Do you not know what an emergency is? Why are you short staff ALL the time and not doing anything about it? Keep it up and you'll have more people dropping dead in the waiting room. And get your parking and layout of building organized. No one should stand for poor health care. "Health is our greatest wealth outside of salvation."

Marc Ernst

It's just a nightmare..... for ever in the waiting room .... waiting for ever for a doctor... just sick..... professional work looks different.

This hospital should be embarrassed of the wait times....and this ER can take on the load of another ER from Ste. Anne.. I say not ...4 people in front of us before we arrived.. 6.5 hours and counting for an eye injury requiring multiple stitches... Not acceptable.

Kara Marion

Unfortunately went there and had the worst care. I was given false information out of convenience of getting me to leave and to top it off after I contacted the hospitals HR I was told I would hear back and never did. Just insane we are supposed to trust these people. Stay away from here at all costs.

Many thanks and respect to all folks who work hard at Bethesda Hospital but my family's numerous experiences with them were far from awesome. I'm just hoping they'll eventually get the adequate financing and management to work out all the current disorganization and underqualified staff issues.

Larry Ranseth

My recent experience with has left me dazed. Went in for extreme swelling and pain in my leg due to a recent surgery. They identified an infection plus blood clots in my leg and lungs. Due to it being a weekend they couldn’t run the tests. (Did not want to call in staff). Was given an antibiotic thru an IV. Dr told me I was very sick and sent me home. Went back the following few days. Was given another antibiotic by IV. Was sent home again. Christmas Eve was back again at 6:30am. After sitting again for 6 hours and another IV I left. Dr phoned me at home and suggested I drive to HSC to their emergency where they’ll give me a ct scan and treat me there. I informed the the dr that Steinbach has a ct scanner. I was not able to sit that long for the drive in. Christmas Day there was no improvement. Back to emergency where the dr informed me I now have a staff infection. Another antibiotic thru an IV. They called in a ct tech and was given a ct scan where they confirmed I had blood clots in my lungs. Dr suggested I go into HSC. I explained I could not drive that distance. They finally ordered an ambulance and took me into HSC where I spent the next 6 days receiving great care. I don’t believe they even deserve the 1 star

Erika Schmidt

Very unsatisfying... waiting times are awful.. you get a lot of don't care attitude... Very unhappy.. they should get education from St Annes hospital.

S Espeeti

The female employee working at the ER desk today was very rude to a patient and another staff member right in front of me. I'm not sure who this can be reported to. February 20, 2021. 10:00hrs. She only had one person in the waiting room of ER at this time, there is no acceptable reason for this type of unprofessional behavior.

Andrea

Common Sense MB

Lets open the ER's back in Winnipeg and hire more nurses. Bethesda should be shut down to help pay for it. Let the locals pray to their favorite imaginary friends for healing since medical science and social responsibility aren't something they believe in. It's never worth the trip to Steinbach, let it rot.

Jax G

First would not book an ultrasound without another hcg quantity test. And lost both requisitions..... for my URGENT ultrasound and their damn blood work they demanded I get done. Which in turn now means my doctor had to postpone my prenatal apppintment for me to find out if everything is ok or not. The people that work there really need to get a clue. I think the province is shutting down the wrong hospitals..... this one should be on the chopping block.....

david neufeld

The emergency room is a triage center. People waiting for stitches are not of high priority then say a kid with a high temperature. Was there for 4 hours which is fine considering the people who came in with illnesses worse then me. Saw many people whine to the nursing staff that they were here first. UNDERSTAND WHAT TRIAGE MEANS. Giving the overworked nurses a hard time is childish. Wait your turn, or go to St.Anne, or walk in at Walmart. Priorities first! I tip my hat to the staff at Bethesda hospital. They put up with a lot of childish impatient people. Cheers

chris dewyn

Claudette Van

Slowest emergency room ever.

Marlee P

I left sad and heartbroken for staff. I saw/heard one patient during registration snap at the staff for asking questions. Others snapping at staff for the wait time. In the back the staff were being pulled in 100 different directions at once. Every staff person I encountered was kind and considerate. I waited for stuff. My ‘needs’ took longer than the ideal more than once. The lady in the room next to me was yelling and behaving like a toddler. I felt terrible having to ask for water because of how hard I witnessed everyone working. Do better when you are a patient. Don’t come on here and leave nasty comments before evaluating yourself and your own behaviour. The working conditions foe the staff are downright inhuman. Trust me, they are not trying to keep you there any longer than they have to. The system needs help. Going in fighting and complaining to the people who are unable to fix the system will not solve any problems. It’s time to do better residents of the South-East.

Jaden Waldner

Most likely a lawsuit coming your way for discrimination and malpractice on a mentally disabled adult. How dare you treat the disabled with indecency

Lina Smith

If I could give them -5 stars I would, this place is horrible the aprox waiting time says 1.5 hours we came at 10pm and he only got called in at 2am while there was only 4 patients in the waiting room, they just couldn't manage! My brother was in big pain and they kept calling other people wich came way after us including a laughing and chatting girl sitting beside us claiming that her pain level was an 8!! At the end there were 0 patients in the waiting room but actually they were in the back rooms waiting double the time they just sat in the waiting room for!! Only came here cause st Anne was already closed and it was to far to go to winnipeg from here, defenetly regret my decision! And I was in bed with a bad cold the next day cause it was freezing cold in that place in the middle of summer and they couldn't even give me a blanket, cause I wasn't a patient!!! What a place!!!

Absolute worst service ever I was there tonight in absolute agonizing pain 5 when sitting a 9 when standing I most likely have a broken heal very bad injury I told them I took 2 Tylenol 3's and ibuprofen 3 hours before coming in I waited over 3 hours for one nurse to ask if I wanted a Tylenol I'm guessing a extra strength hahahaha you have to be kidding me I guarantee when I go tomorrow somewhere else I will get better care and x Ray stat on my heal and once they see the x Ray will probably offer me some morphine or perkocet for pain immediately I'm ashamed of steinbach hospital in general what a shame

Nikki

Brought my daughter in agyer being electrocuted. She was in pain shaky and dizzy.....zero care and they sent us to a walk in. What a joke! Go somewhere else!!!!!

sam bateman

I came here and got amazing service. Everyone was so friendly. Asking if I needed a warm blanket, placing me in a dark room with a bed due to why I was there. Took some time but met some really nice and caring nurses and doctors.

HeavyS R

Back in the day... A emergency visit would mean going to see compassionate doctors and nurses... That seems to have disappeared... I am thankful I personally don't have to visit this place often... but various family members and friends have had very bad luck here... Over a holiday my Parents waited 8 hours to get a few pills, Triage knew that's all they needed but no they had to spend 8 HOURS only to be told they could only get 6 pills because blah blah blah.... Have heard many others horror stories here... One friend's appendix ruptured after being sent home... Another Older friend waited all night only to be told to go home... Please do yourself a favor people and go to HSC or Ste. Anne to get help... this place needs to have some employees that are there to help instead of just for another paycheck... this is not an emergency room... (no sense of urgency here)...
