I find that it's interesting what the Emergency Department deems as a priority. My husband recently was taken to the ER in severe pain to the point he could barely walk and yet he was made to wait hours. People with lesser issues which had arrived much later than he did were being seen first. I've run into this problem before and I find it inexcusable and truly disheartening to those who really need to see someone.

Firstly, I want to say that the doctors and nurses who helped with the birth of my son were very nice. However, the overall experience has been more than a disappointment. I think it's now expected that if you go to the hospital, you're in for a wait, but this is pathetic. Today we were told to be back to the hospital for bloodwork, as they weren't happy with the results from the previous day. We've now been here almost 2 hours waiting for them to come back to the room. For a health care system, the sense of urgency is lacking, and sitting here listening to the nurses chatter like a bunch of hens with apparently nothing better to do, only intensifies the frustration. We shouldn't expect better service from a fast food restaurant than out local hospital, maybe if the employees of the hospital's pay was based on the patients experience, we wouldn't have to pay $4.00 to park on their lot.

I was treated SO well at YRH. I went there for a procedure on my right knee due to a cancellation at the last minute. Because of VERY hazardous road conditions the 240 km drive down from White Rock (just outside of Wolfville) was terrible. The hospitality I received at YRH more than made up for the rough trip. A BIG thank you to all (especially Tammi, Kari, the anesthesiologist and OR staff, and my terrific surgeon, Dr. Nadia Murphy). Thank you so much!!

I work at YRH so i might be biased but ive also been a patient and i have zero complaints. I was well taken care of. Respect the nurses and other workers and you will get the same back.

The waiting time in this place is beyond ridiculous. I've been waiting for 5 hours and not one person had been called in!! Come on.

Am very concerned over the 98% negative reviews and stories about Yarmouth Hospital Services - I'd like to know who is in charge of Hospital Practices and Procedure. Met one woman who was setting up her appointment for her EIGHTH HERNIA Operation..... that left me beyond stunned and appalled. Have also heard countless complaints about patients being sent home after waiting forever to see a doctor in emergency, being treated horribly by staff etc... only to have to return the next day etc.... in far worse condition - and finally the treatment of Seniors being sent back to nursing homes within a day or hours of arriving by ambulance - resulting in that senior DYING - all done without ANY input from family members etc!! This is very scary stuff to say the least,

The only problem is people parking in the Fire Lane. No one seems to want to do anything about it.

They treat you well here. The food is very good. The emergency room can get congested with patients. It needs more staff and less people coming in with things that could be treated with a trip to the pharmacy.

Alexander Ross (Eight Bit Fella)

Cracks in the side of the wall, completely looking rundown like an old abandoned hospital. Looks like a hospital from a third world country. The wait time is ridiculous, and the staff have been very rude. Edit: The nurses there are demons, actual demons. The doctors there have never heard of the Hippocratic oath. They don't care.

Great staff, friendly folks, and the muffins and fish cakes.

Going on 11 hours .... done the the same urine test twice. Once when I arrived, again 6 hours later... was told the doc just wanted to be sure of my results. STILL havent seen a Doctor and im still in the waiting room .. is healthcare really free in my country if i loose out on a Day of pay to get it?

Hi , I m Haadiyaa, a student, and today for the first time , I thought of using the medical facility for my student insurance for which I have been paying good 800 bugs , I am writing this to you as I am waiting here for good 3 hrs now , it's a pathetic and rediculus service , worst than any undeveloped country . There is no sign of emergency treatment even in the emergency ward . It seems like it's better to go to a local pharmacy and get some advised drugs than expecting a doctor at the Yarmouth regional hospital to treat you. Very disappointed ,with the treatment of the staff and nurses as well . Feel highly insecure now ,as I pray to God that nothing happens to me , as getting a treatment is not a cakewalk here .

I have found my experiences through the years with our hospital to be one of caring people working very diligently under extremely busy conditions. It sometimes takes time but once admitted, the overworked staff are very caring and attentive. Most have a wonderful bedside manner and treat their patients with care and professionalism. We are lucky to have them.

Worst place ever! I recently had to go for a cat scan on my broken ankle. The lady at the registration for radiology was awesome. Sweet and helpful. The technician I had was terrible! He was so so very rude to me and impatient. I felt uncomfortable and like I was making his day hard just by being like there. It was 7:30 in the morning!

My traveling companion came down with a lung infection and we had to seek medical care. The people in the emergency were very caring and helpful. They ended up keeping her overnight and started her on iv antibiotics. The next day she was released with a couple of prescriptions and continued to improve over the span of our vacation. I was very satisfied with the care she received.

Came at 12:30 this morning with my daughter because of a sore throat and earache only to be told her ears and throat were fine and to take naproxen as a pain killer, now it’s 8 pm and we’re back here with her throat burning from the pain and her having trouble breathing and yet we have to wait because there’s 8 people who were here first; 811 even told us to get here ASAP when I called them for a second opinion, hopefully tonight we will get antibiotics

My wife had to go to emergency department this week to deal with a deer tick bite, and being a retired RN wanted to have the remainder of the tick removed and get a prescription for antibiotics. Like too many others in the community we don't have access a family physician and likely won't for years to come. She waited OVER 9 HOURS to be seen!! Other patients gave up and left untreated while she was there. Although the staff and doc she encountered were pleasant enough this is totally unsatisfactory. How many people in the community are hesitant to seek medical help knowing they will need to wait for several hours to see a doctor? And no walk in clinics as an option? Where are the doctors and nurse practitioners?

Make sure to take a day off, took the girlfriend for some wood stuck in her cornea. Sat for 6 hrs, honestly what says emergency " honey I can't see out of my eye" To see fear and pain on her face, angry is not the word I would use to describe the nurses and the 1 doctor , telling her sorry you have to wait. I will say this if she goes blind in that eye due to the unexcusable lack of empathy and organisation. A lawsuit will be next. Hire some damn doctors

We went in to get a IV replaced and I couldn't believe how rough the nurse was when it was mentioned "she says I take pride in how rough I am" really though... Not very good bedside manners Natalie
