Worst hospital ever ! 9 hours of waiting time to see a doctor after an accident at the emergency section ! What a shame !! Disgusting !
First time here! Good emergency hospital in Montreal. Yes wait times are long (4-5 hours) but better than other places, stay patient & communicate clearly what you need, they will go above & beyond to make sure you get the best service & care possible. The only things that some of the stuff not professional in communication and not clear what they do!
Best hospital in Montreal but if you absolutely hate waiting don't go there and go to some worst place.
Hit or miss in terms of wait time. The medical team is good but the triage staff are rude, scream for no reason and interrogate as opposed to asking about your problem in a civil manner. Terrible! All that under the sign that says they do not tolerate violence and harsh language! Once you are through the triage things are much better.

5 hrs and counting just waiting to see a doctor, the waiting time is extremely high, if anyone were to visit the emergency, I would recommend you bring water and food, you will be tired. Edit: It is a disgrace to see that everyone is simply thrown away in the waiting room, until you see your doctor which could be never before you turn extremely angry for waiting such a long time
Very nice hospital, unless you go to the emergency on a Sunday night, there is very few people so the wait time is minimum. The doctors are very good but sometimes have trouble with french. Food is kosher so if you do not want animals to suffer, do not eat there. Also the 24h second cup is great
Padding on the waiting seats are worn and uncomfortable - please purchase larger, more comfortable seats giving the wait times. A wheelchair is so much more comfortable in comparison. Maybe small benches would help for those who have to wait 5 hours. Bring a warm blanket, food, water, tablet, travel pillow, pillow to sit on, something to cover your eyes. I think the stuff was generally nice, some guys may seem rough, but sometimes it's just a matter of being tired or annoyed - it's not a fun job after all. Security stuff, nurses and docs were fine. As for the wait time, as you know you are called by priority and if you happen to be at low priority, you can expect 7-9 hours total wait, including once in the doc room where you will still be waiting for a while. I think they try to clear all low priorities within 8 hours or so. Better have your mind set to this and better have a strong 'psychology': I've seen people sleeping in the seated position, it's basically a state of mind. I've see someone with an open toe fracture having to wait 5 hours or so. The problem is, there are not enough doctors for the night shift. The government does not increase the number of graduates because here in Quebec the doctors earn a lot, specialists earn anywhere from 300.000 to well over 1M/year after 10 years. A lot of money to be shared by few, if there were more of them, each would have made less money.
Quick service great staff amazing doctor I was seen by the doctor in an hour I got very lucky And I got myself a Grey’s Anatomy doctor????????????
The staff at the emergency entrance was super nice and helpful. But I spent 5 hours in the waiting area and am still waiting while being seriously injured and bleeding. No one even cares! Edit: After 6 hours I saw the doctor and they were super good so at least the wait in the end was worth it but still it was too much.
(Translated) The treatment was very good in the emergency department, and the follow-up was done wonderfully by all the staff working there, including doctors, nurses and all the staff.
Been here a few times but the wait time is so long. Also I wonder why they ask people on the count of 0-10 what their pain is if they are not going to pay attention to them. The last time I was here I spent about 6hrs before I could see a doctor and it took more 4hrs to have a diagnosis. All this while I was in extreme pain and they didn’t even give me any pain killers only the doctor to write me a prescription and said go to a pharmacy and buy the medication yourself. Yes I can afford to buy the medication but could you at least give me something to calm my pain? I honestly wonder what’s the meaning of an emergency center if you can’t even provide someone in pain with at least two pills to easy their pain. I was sent off the same I came in, I was in so much pain and could barely walk. Who does this?? I think you guys just want someone to first drop dead and then you will know they’re in pain. I was so disappointed with their professionalism. If you have an Emergency, clearly this isn’t the place.
I’m still waiting to see the dr since 11 o’clock last night now the time is 6:45 not yet thank god I don’t have to come here all the time . I hope can be seeing by the dr. this noise in the front she’s so mean to the patients I hope she deserves what she gets
Good
If you are not from Montreal but need to go to the hospital this is the one to go to. By far the cleanest and nicest hospital.
Very fast, at most wait 1.5hrs
The worst medical institution in Quebec I have ever been, they made me wait almost 8 hours to do some tests, and when I was no longer able to wait and wanted to leave, only then one of the employees came up and said that I could pass the test, but unfortunately I could not wait anymore and just left. I suspect they could have taken it earlier, but why they didn't do that I still don’t understand.
(Translated) My baby was born here, and it was the best place. Excellent attention!
An army of great doctors and nurses. Very friendly and caring.
If you want to wait 6 hours for the result of a blood test, so they figure out that they forgot one test and you have to take another one, if you want to wait 8h to get an ultrasound and finally notice that they didn't make a request for the radiology service in the first place, this is the place you should go to.
Waited for so long in the emergency room.
One of the best hospitals in Montreal!
I had a pleasant experience. Waiting time was around 4 hours which is better than a lot of hospitals
Best ER in the city hands down, no competition.
They don't care patient at all. I went there for an urgent situation in my eye. They said I can wait for more than 8 hours there or go to a clinic.
(Translated) Sorting problem. Lost patient records that lead to delays ... Excellent medicine, but administrative system lagging behind. One day...
One of the best hospitals in Montreal
Waiting is really long long longggg time . You guys should bring blanket, pillow , mattress, food, water, charger…whatever you need to wait here. I bet you can take a nap around 7-9 hours before they start to call your name .
Excellent hospital, good attention
All jokes aside, surprisingly a good place to spend your first date. The place was welcoming and clean. There's always a long waiting time to expect during the night . We spent approximately 6 hours in the hospital but the staff visited us numerous of times to make sure my soon-to-be boyfriend was feeling better ( he though he was dying) . Towards the end we waited a long time before a staff came only tell us we would have to wait a little while longer before the doctor would give us the ''okay'' to leave. At this point we just continued cuddling and sleeping until we both got a ride home. A lot of PDA. would do it again !
Worst service in Montreal They keep us waiting for long time even if it’s an emergency No proper staff to handle emergency cases in the front desk Worst experience
Typically I chose my appointments at the JGH. I used it for many years and I am very satisfied. A few years ago a large adjacent section was added complete with a very large under ground parking space. on this second time of using the new parking area I was surprised at the long time that took me to advance the last half block. Perhaps it took 10 minutes. There were several attendees to direct the incoming cars, and there was space. However, I was afraid for a while that I will be late for my appointment, especially if the lot would be full.

(Translated) So impatient and rude, I walked out of there with tears in my eyes. I felt neither listening nor seen. Never again!
This place has renovated and upgraded. But that's where the illusion ends. Staff are rude, unfriendly and treat visitors and patients like garbage. They don't care about you if you are a patient. I am taking my name of the patients list there and never want anything to do with them. This is where our tax money goes: to ingrates and sociopaths.
Terrible ER. Rude staff (except at the entrance) and insanely long wait time even if you are dying from pain. They make you think that someone will come see you by asking you to go inside a room and change. But then no one shows up for hours
Great Experience at ER. I was at ER around 8:00AM on June 4/2019 and I had #39. First time over 42 years at the hospital. I had an operation 42 years ago at Jewish General. Since 42 years I never had any medical issues or emergencies to go to hospital. Waiting was 2 hours and they had to do quite a few tests on me such as blood tests(detailed), x rays etc. I was out at 3 PM. I had dr. Le and quite a few nurses who worked very hard to make me comfortable and to get the best results a.s.a.p. from labs. Wow, the entire staff at ER work around the clock, organized and fast. Dr.Le was sharp, excellent and he knew what he was doing while he was explaining the reasons etc.( I trusted his opinions and judgement 100%). Dr. Le showed me and put me through exercises I need to do for the condition I was in. I waited for the lab analysis for my tests. I was called in by dr. Le after the tests results were in. I was told everything looks normal and told what I need to do from now on. We need to remember 7 hours was not just sitting and waiting there . It includes waiting, going through tests with dr. and nurses, waiting for lab analysis of several tests etc. Since there are 100s or1000s of patience require almost the same thing every day, 7 to 15 hours should be considered normal with a limited budget they have and manpower they are working with. I am feeling better and thank you to Dr. Le and for the entire staff what they did for me and doing every day more and more to keep people healthy.
Worst hospital been to. Lost pregnancy in emergency room. Went in with light spotting, while waiting for 8 hours to see doctor started bleeding. Only then was able to get help from medical personnel.
5 hours+ wait time while there's 1 other person in the emergency room. That one other person's been waiting 7 hours. Terrible wait times, nurses don't care or bother to listen. This is after being told that I had to go to the emergency room right away and can't wait until morning by another nurse. Edit: after waiting 6 hours, I finally got called. They sent me to the covid wing to get a covid test despite complaints of chest and heart pain. I left, went to glen, got seen in 15 minutes there and got treated for heart damage. Completely unreal how terrible my experience at the Jewish was (bonus: the glen had to keep me overnight and to do so gave me a covid test after treating my heart. Result: negative)
Low wait time and friendly staff. We got to the hospital at 3:20 pm. Went through triage within 10 minutes of arriving. Saw a doctor within 2 hours. Went through further testing including blood test, urine and x rays and got the results all in under 5 hours. We were out of the hospital at around 8 pm. I went in fully expecting to spend 10+ hours in the ER and was pleasantly surprised. This was actually faster than a walk in clinic!
Wonderful service and very fast...
Excellent emergency department, low wait times 1-2h compared with the south shore 4-6h.
(Translated) The service clearly lacks humanity, especially the doctors, finally my doctor if you can say that. 3 seconds of appearance to play the piano on my collarbone. He will reappear a few hours later in the waiting room but without motivation. He was motivated by the lady from the reception to come and see me and take me out it's broken you can go home, someone will call you for the rest .... You should know that I hit my head and no questions were asked. Anyway, I found myself at 3:45 am in the street with my broken collarbone.
Health care system is null in Canada. They are taking taxes for nothing and people dont talk.
I had open heart surgery... They saved my life I would rate it 10 stars if I could....
All that happens in hospitals is a system fault. Long waiting, unprofessionalism, rude attitude.
Best emergency hospital in Montreal. Yes wait times are long (4-5 hours) but if you’re not rude, stay patient & communicate clearly what you need, they will go above & beyond to make sure you get the best service & care possible.
Rude stuff, terrible service and a really long waiting time. In addition, is it possible that a hospital doesn’t have a bed ??!! I came because a lower back pain and they just gave me a wheelchair, seriously?!! I can’t sit down and I asked for a bed like three or four times but no body cares. I told them at least if you don’t have a bed give me a painkiller but there answer was that you have to wait the doctor. Isn’t it an emergency?!!! You must provide an immediate doctor for serious cases
Best health care experience I’ve had thus far in Quebec. The wait times for testing and results were quite long but the staff were all very kind.
Quality and professionalism have dropped 100% since a year ago. This emergency room used to be the gold standard. The repeated instances of lack of professionalism as well as the standard and approach for the treatment of patients is nothing short of appalling, in my experience. Often very crude, primitive, and unscientific in the approach to treatment. It is more than obvious from my experience and observation that many staff have unresolved personal issues that really affect care. One can only hope management opts for a course correction soon, and that the strains of the pandemic lessen so that this faute de mieux approach to staffing is no longer necessary. One thing is for sure. Nothing remotely like this happened at the Jewish General Hospital Emergency as recently as a year ago - the professionalism and high standard of care were absolutely exemplary then.
What a horrible experience for once a great hospital. The emergency triage nurse Marie Michelle Trudell plays doctor and your life.
I had to go to the ER for the 1st time ever due to a medical emergency! Dr. Grant and the army of amazing nurses took such great care of me! Honestly, the nurses turned a rather scary morning into a much more durable experience. As for Dr. Grant, he was amazing and resolved my medical issues as soon as possible. Plus, everything happened so fast and I barely had to wait much time to be treated. This is a great hospital!
Thanks for hospitality
If you need to deal with any administrative depatment, avoid this place. It makes 3 months my father's travel insurance is asking them for payment information and they just don't answer.
(Translated) Regrettable, third world. That at least. We are traveling through Canada and ended the trip in Montreal. We had to request medical assistance from our insurance company and they sent us to this painful hospital. We had to wait 11 hours in the emergency room to be seen, and it was not even a doctor, but an assistant. They gave us an appointment for the next day with the doctor. If it's something serious ... well, I don't know ... The very cold personal treatment, you feel completely thrown away, it is very distressing. In short, public health in Canada is third world. Think about it before you go on a trip to this country. (Original) Lamentable, tercermundista.
worst medical service !
I went there three times. Two times for fracture and once for suspicious heart attack. Well, it was quite fast. I think they prioritize. For fracture and x-ray they do it pretty fast.
