I was brought in by ambulance on the morning of Friday July 3 2020 with a temperature of 102*f with a bit of a dry cough, I was convinced I had Covid19. The nurses, doctors and imaging tech were absolutely amazing and made quick work of trying to find out what was causing my symptoms. My IV was done really well..hope the nurse can forgive me for spouting off about Trump..anyhow, I am really glad I decided to go as I received the answers I needed and then some. Thank you to all involved in my care on that Friday morning, I will be forever grateful, many good blessings to all of you, you're all the best!

5* Dr. Yu 5* Dr. McCalden 1* Emergency May 29, 2019. Came to UH emergency even though Victoria Hospital is closer because the Doctors have been amazing. Well let’s just say that Emergency at UH was very poor today. Arrived at 3:30 am and emergency was quiet only 5 people ahead of us which is rare and exciting. 3 hours passed everyone else has gone in and we are waiting. Two new patients have arrived for at total of 3 people. Only 3 people in the waiting room and yet the wait time is 6-7 hours. Explain this to me.

Expect to be waiting hours unless you're dying but that's not their fault. Very friendly doctors and nurses that have always done an great job for me.

Patient Advocate was requested and failed to appear; disabled elderly patient was subjected to unequal prejudice and labelling and suffered as a result. Details will be sent to MOH. What began as a seeming professional process, particularly the surgical procedure, was unwittingly or otherwise, sabotaged by an unprofessional disgraceful post operative process that was literally endured with unnecessary uncertainty, stress and suffering that lasted in hospital for over an unconscionable number of hours and days; made worse by a ' discharge process' that was fraught with errors and miscommunication and recklessness! Perhaps if The patient advocate had showed up as requested suffering could have been minimized. Only when the surgeon got directly involved did patient concerns and suffering get addressed by post op and ward staff; when not present staff cut corners in a hospital organization that this experienced observer would classify as chaotic, not patient centred , gig centred at cost of proper care, callous at times. Room for significant HOSPITAL MED CULTURE improvement that 6 million in structural things will not solve. Management needs thorough accountability review by MOH .

avoid going to the ER if you can. Can be a very long wait. Typical of any hospital.

Best hospital without a doubt. Staff is caring, helpful and knowledgeable.

I stayed at the university twice as I had contracted MRSA both times as the second I’m the doctor didn’t extract it all. Needless to say the 2nd visit was longer as they wanted to make sure my oncology in my blood was good. All the nurses & doctorsas well as Dr. Lanting & Dr. Nauti we’re absolutely amazing to me as I’ve never heard of MRSA let alone know how the heck I got such a terrible virus. I just want to thank everyone of them for taking great care of me during my stay. Tracy Joyce

Dr Maxwell in the e.r is amazing. Walked me through how bad my abrasion was. Kept me apprised of why my wait time was long. Its an e.r sicker ppl get seen first. Everyone is busy saving lives. I resent the implication of posts on here of people saying all they do is chat and play on phones. Ambulances overdoses people coding take precedent over someone who appears fine with a slight fever. See your doctor and avoid it's a pandemic and opiod crisis this ain't for the cold and flu crowd. To summarize amazing hardworking people. If you expect to be in and out in less than an hour forget it it's an e.r in Ontario. Boot Ford out and fund healthcare to see wait time decreases.

Moe Thanks -555-

Thanks for being there!

Everyone was polite, friendly, and helpful -for receptionists, triage nurse, emergency room personnel. The place was welcoming: clean, comfortable and nicely organized. The wait time to be seen by a doctor was not long at all.,

Twice my husband has had to have major surgery at this facility. I'm so grateful to Dr. Luke's Team for the first surgery 5 years ago and Dr Hawel's Team for the most recent surgery. The recovery care has been amazing even with the added protocols due to COVID-19.

Don’t care about their employees

6 hours waiting to get results of my child 's finger. We had to leave the hospital give him some Tylenol and take him next day to urgent care. They couldn't tell us if his thumb was broken or not in 6 hours because he wasn't a priority.

After being 7 times in the emergency room this past week where clerks in the front desk and nurses where so rude and obviously they don’t do their job since I was with infection and in a lot of pain and they kept telling me ‘ but your vital signs are ok so go home and take pain killers and stop coming back ‘ I went to St Joseph’s where the opposite situation happened the Dr was in shock to see my situation and contact the surgeon and I was admitted for surgery the same day .. in University Hospital it seems that everyone is rude with lack of skills , unprepared to see people in pain or struggling … they almost feel they are making you a favor !!!! Sorry but I pay even more taxes that they do snd if I feel sick I will go a millón times to emergency !!! I told Drs after and they have no answers ‘ so sorry people is rude here , but you are here now snd still alive !!!’ How nasty !!!! I am so in shock of this experience… I hope they throw this unskilled people and hire people that can handle that job , they are so miserable in their job is sad …

Professional staff that care about their patients. Decent facility but sometimes confusing to get around. Would be cool to see an app to help you get around. Or an interactive website.

I was here for an appointment to see an Hearing specialist...wasn't sure where to go inside but ask assistance at the door and very friendly he directed me in proper direction...no problems...

I can't say enough great things about the nurses and the cleaning crew...

My son was brought in by ambulance and spent 7 hours here in emerg. A training nurse told me they could send him home in cab but since I answered the phone that meant someone was there to pay for a cab. She was very WRONG. Then argued and in the end sent him out the door at 12 midnight snowing with a bus ticket! This could have gone SO wrong since he was there for losing conscience!! How is she allowed to let him go on a bus instead of a cab when he needed to get home safe? This was uncalled for and extremely dangerous! Shame on this hospital for letting this happen.

William Kirk

It's a great hospital with excellent doctors and nurses who care about you and want to help you live your best life possible. My only complaint about this hospital is that on clinic day (at least in the nephrology department) it can take forever for the doctors to see you and once the doctors see you they can only chat and go over concerns with you for about 5 minutes. Given how large, busy, and well known this hospital is I'm not surprised that it is like this but is still a great hospital nonetheless.

Harvir Gill

Worst experience at a hospital. Staff was too busy laughing and making rude/smart remarks than helping the patients. Receptionist originally said the wait time would be a couple hours then after those hours go by she says it would be 10 hours. They also refused patients s/o's and parents to come inside when the patients were crying and clearly scared. The nurses did absolutely nothing to be helpful and comforting to the patients and were extremely rude. They show no respect and do not know how to talk whatsoever. They do not know what they are doing. This is a joke of a hospital. Never ever go here. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

This review is only regarding the EMERGENCY at University Hospital. Don't even bother. The triage staff gatekeep that place like they have a spot to lose. There is not an ounce of compassion for those of us who may be scared, worried, or confused, or simply just wanting a diagnosis. It's not that the doctors or nursing staff are not capable - it's just that you will never find out whether they can help you or whether or not you have an actual emergency because you won't be permitted past the front gate. They may as well stick their tongues out at you when you come in. Finding manners. It's impossible. Miserable London. If I could put a sub-1 star, you know I would. Finally, during intake don't expect confidentiality, or even a teeny bit of personal privacy - They may as well be speaking from a mic - right? You know it's true.

Great staff, very helpful and polite. There are not a lot of amenities here. There is a small cafeteria on the 3rd floor. There is also a Tim Hortons on the main floor at the entrance. I found everything to be clean and sanitized. All COVID-19 protocols are being followed.

We were there maybe two hours!! I had an excellent experience last night , everyone (literally everyone) was super helpful and kind. Anyways, my boyfriend accidentally dropped a jigsaw on my foot and it turned into this massive blue bump so everyone thought I should get some help. We arrived around 7:30 and a nice nurse gave me a wheel chair and rolled me to registration. Then I waited probably 3 mins before seeing the triage nurse who did her assessment and sent me to get x-rays. After the x-rays we were asked to wait in the waiting room. We were in the first waiting room maybe 40 minutes and then we were asked to come in to a different waiting room to be addressed by the doctor. We were in the second waiting room maybe 35 mins. Then I got the results (not broken ????) and we went on our way. I think that the people who are complaining of long waits don't understand that we are put in order from most urgent to least urgent. If you're coming in with flu symptoms and haven't been out of the country recently or have a rash or basically anything non urgent, just go to a clinic. You're wasting valuable time that doctors can be using to treat real emergencies. Just my opinion. ????

Conveniently near the university. I know students who had good experiences there service-wise.

The nurses were really nice at 3am and very patient with me despite my crying. They got my veins in 1 try, where the doctor's at St Joseph took multiple tries and ended up at my wrist in the end. The doctor was very patient with me and finally diagnosed me with more then just "oh it's just an infection". The night staff were all nice, and the men stocking the room I was in were funny and nice. I will go here instead now

After having a cardiac arrest at home, my husband Randy was in the Intensive Care Unit for 9 days before moving onto to Cardiac Care and eventually released to go home 10 days later. Our whole experience was exemplary, from the emergency room all the way through to release. Everyone was very kind, professional and explained each medical step along the way and never showed any disregard for any questions that were asked (however simple or complex). My husband and our family are very appreciative for the various teams and nursing staff that took great care of him during those days. We are so grateful that we have my husband, father and grandfather with us today. He's a wonderful man, a gentle giant, and with your care and our faith and prayers, we hope to enjoy his company for many years to come.

The wait list process kind of sucks, but the staff are all excellent and friendly and professional! I am very happy that I chose the London University Hospital for my hip replacement surgery. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. ????

Luke Durda

All the staff is really friendly and to amazing job, I unfortunately have been here more then I wanted to be here but they defiantly help me out tremendously every time. Parking can be expensive, best thing to do is get a 5 day pass so you can go in and out if your a visitor. I think they are around $30-$35. I believe a one day pass is around $12 and you can not reenter.I

Great helpful service. Emergency room wasn't very busy both times I have been here. Maybe it was luck ?

Been here three times during this year and could not possibly explain how disappointed the service is at this University Hospital. Each time I came here whether for me or my boyfriend we had to wait at least 3 hours to get a nurse - not even a real doctor to examin us. Then its another 2-3 hours to get properly tested or given proscription. They don’t ask how we are doing and just expects us to suck up the extreme pain while they are chit chatting about vacations or gossip and literally yelling around talking about non-sense! I can’t understand why they have to also ruin the reputation of the Western University because they do not and are not even there for the patients when they really really REALLY need them! Inside of the emergency room is really just a chitchat room for the nurses and its so humuiliating to see that those are possibily the people who will mentor future medical students in the university across the street... I have seen that the “owner” of the hospital reply to several one-star ratings but how about, learn why you arw getting such bad reviews from clients, pass on the words to nurses, get better HRs to train them and work on making people’s lives better rather than wasting yours and every patients time? EDIT: No complains about doctors they do everything they can to divide up his time to consult and treat each patient. The main problem is the nurses - the first people that make an impression and take theor jobs as JOKES! Shame on yourself seriously take some time and access your behaviours and level of professionalism PLEASE!

High quality healthcare at it's finest! Modern equipment and medicine. Clean facility with kind staff.

Always the best of the best. Efficient and caring. I have problems at every other hospital I go to with getting an IV put in. This has never happened at this hospital, they always get it the first try. Top nurses and top doctors.

The wait in Emergency was shorter than their sign said, and all of the staff I interacted with were very kind, respectful, and professional. The doctor was very patient and gave me all the time I needed to discuss with her and ask questions. I felt very well taken care of. Thank you, University Hospital!

Aliza N

The Nurses here are very rude and behaved in a very disgusting way with my mother in law.The nurses just ignored my mother in law and left her in her room when she needed help. Also one time when I was needing help and looking to talk to someone all the stuff just stood there and saw that I was there but didn't offer to help.So then when I tried talking to 1 nurse who had come out of a room she ignored me the first time and she was also racist towards me.This is not what I was expecting. These people have no respect for guests.I honestly won't be going here again after what happened.

Lunas

Doesnt matter if its your fiancé, wife, cousin, daughter whatever it is you maybe with they will not let you in with them at the emergency care... But hey if youre a minority A.K.A Person of color they will let you have as many friends as you want with you.. There is no standard on who can and cant go in. Oh and hope youre not sitting too comfortably cause those friends dont want to be separated so they WILL make you sit else where

Nancy Ahrens

Just picked up my dad after heart surgery. He sung the praises of the staff, particularly the nurses in the cardiac area on multiple occasions!! High praises all round!! The food could have a little more flavour, but it is en masse food in a hospital and not a restaurant. Thank you for all you do for those who arrive at your doors!!

I have been in University hospital for Brain Surgery. Doctors and staff, made me feel like a movie star. Everything as been just perfect. Some time in July, I have had a TC scan, once in the room the guy place me on the scan Machine, trying to feel comfortable, when suddenly that kind of nurse came to me and very rudely with out a word he pull out my hearing aid. I wanted to call the nurse for the behavior and comportment, but the way I have seen him and the rude way, I preferred of not say any thing. I am a 75 years hold man and I would recommend, of not put this Gentleman in hold people WARD. With different time and nurse, they kindly ask me to remove, false teeth, hearing aids and so on.Once again Thanks to the many beautiful people that are sharing their time with, with suffering people..

Grandpa is extremely ill. I took him here at 10pm and now its 6am still no one came to see us.

Hannabeth

DONT GO HERE. I went last night at 8pm because my leg gave out on the way to work(tendon damage), and I couldn't feel the entire right side of my body, except for excrutiating waves of pain(these lasted all night even after I got home at 3am) that almost made me pass out three times while there. I even got extremely dizzy and lightheaded. I couldnt even rhink straight. They gave me a shot for my swelling and sent me home. Didn't treat me like I had an injury, didn't do ANYTHING for me. I'm still in pain, can't walk, am now unable to work, and am having trouble using my right arm. So they wont help you. And everyone there is rude, including the triage nirse who kicked the foot that wasin excrutiating pain, accidentaly given, but then when I screamed jn agony and said "ow thats the foot in pain" she pretended like nothing had happenwd and my husband apollogized instead because apparently he's ten times the human. DONT GO HERE.

Tammy Laughton

I have only been here twice. The first time a few years ago for emergency surgery, everyone I came in contact with was beyond kind and caring and professional. I was treated well and recovered quickly with great after care. The second time I was here I had a heart attack before I arrived by ambulance, and they SAVED MY LIFE . I am so thankful there was such a caring and compassionate team of nurses, doctors, surgeons and specialists in the Cardiac Care Unit and in the CCICU. The team worked tirelessly to get my heart doing what it should be doing, making it so I had a new lease on life and could be home with my child and my family. Thank you just isn't enough words for the care I received during my stay. Keep up the amazing work! My heart thanks you all!

Chris Viger

Triage staff show almost no empathy towards those truly in need. Shameful, really. Time to change how things are done here, it's clearly not working.

Randall Culp

Interesting experience great and helpful staff!!????

Samantha Pickering

I've been to the ER here 3 times in the past couple years. Once for a cut on my hand, once for a stab wound and once for a miscarriage. I cannot thank the doctors and nurses here enough. They have shown me such compassion each time I have been in. With the miscarriage, the experience is obviously a painful one, but they were so patient, kind and empathetic towards myself and my fiance. They explained everything to us and offered a social worker for us to speak to.

Mista Jay

Our experience this evening can be described as nothing less than absolutely unacceptable. An elderly woman beside us waiting 7 hours for a shot? A young teenage girl having a miscarriage crying in the waiting room after being told she won't even be seen for 4-6 hours? A young woman with a minor cut that could be stitched or glued in minutes being told it'll be 4-6 hours before she's seen? Look we all understand triage and we know that worst cases are prioritized and seen first, but there are at least 10 people behind those doors doing nothing... 1 persons job was to watch the door... another person was handing out blankets.. and 3 or 4 nurses are literally doing nothing but talking while the waiting room backs up like a heard of cattle and the waiting list gets longer. Not one of those people can use liquid stitches?? We called ahead to see how busy it was and they refused to tell us. My wife had potentially serious back injury from a major fall so we made the trip. It was visibly busy.. after 3 hours she was told only 7 people in front of her.. after 4 hours she was told only about 1 more hour and 2 people in front of her.. after 5 hours she was given a shot for pain.. at 6 hours we asked again and now there were "3-4" people in front of her again... when we explained that we'd been there for 6 hours and hadn't even seen a doctor yet she said "sorry" .. she clearly wasn't. . It was now 11 pm, knowing we'd still be another hour or two before being seen by a doctor, assessed, x rays would be needed etc etc it would be well into the morning hours at least... we left, after 6 hours, without even seeing a doctor. As did numerous others during the time we were there. I've donated significant funds to this hospital and always spoke highly of it and the staff. However.. I don't appreciate being used as a pawn in your political games, and find it despicable that you use your patients to prove your political points, and motivate the masses to emailing, phoning or writing complaints to their MPPs by purposely understaffing your ER. Someone is going to die and the scores of bad reviews should have been your warning and motivation, and I sincerely hope they are used in civil actions against the hospital. Further, your complete lack of respect for people's personal lives and compassion for their dignity is outragious and appalling. I used to tell people that LHSC and University Hospital was world class.. not any longer.. perhaps only if you have an appointment. Whoever is responsible for that mess and disorganization, and scheduling doctors .. you should be ashamed of yourself.

Zachary Matt

Honestly my grandfather been waiting in emergency for 7 hours still in a the hallway they cant find a room for him well guess what university is the worst hospital of all time

Peter Rice

I worked as a physician at this hospital for 30 years. After I retired I developed a community acquired pneumonia. I walked into emergency complaining that I could not breathe, I was not blue but when they measured how much air that my lungs could move in a single breath, the forced vital capacity was only 50cc, one seventh the volume of a pop can. I waited an hour to be seen and while I remain grateful for the bronchodilators they gave me which helped me to breathe, I am not happy that they gave me an antibiotic which shut my kidneys down. I was also troubled by all sorts of needless tests which proved to be normal. I was lucky to have survived my interventions in this hospital A few weeks ago I visited a friend who has never before complained of chest pain associated with shortness of breath. He looked ill and I rushed him to emergency. We waited an hour to be triaged. The morbidly obese triage nurse asked my friend how bad his pain was on a scale of 1-10. He volunteered the number 5 and on this number alone we were forced to wait another 4 hours. The nurse totally discounted the fact that the patient had been rushed to hospital by his physician because he never complains of pain. In our 5 hour wait, no one asked my friend how his pain was.Doubtless all the patients with pain graded 6 and up were seen before us. The emergency room was not busy and the receptionists all had perfect nails, their Emory boards never being far from the point of nail care. Every time I approached the desk I was met with the ennui of "it is not in my job description". My friend could no longer bear the pain and the agony inherent in the illusion of hope and the certainty of despair after five agonizing hours waiting in the ER I felt disheartened that the institution. to which I had given the 30 best years of my life had fallen into the complete chaos. The UH emergency has become a staff-centered, not client-centered institution To add insult to injury, the parking lot charged $25 dollars for this nightmare. The next morning we attended a client- centered emergency department at St Joaeph's hospital. Within 5 minutes my friend was in the treatment room, vital signs had been taken, an EKG had been obtained and blood work was drawn and sent to the lab. The nurses were fit, agile and worked as hard as they could to accommodate us. I did not advise them of my 30 years of work devoted to LHSC patient care. I did not want to handicap the care given to my friend In less than three hours the problem had been identified and remedied. We would still be waiting in the UH emergency The health care given at UH emergency has fallen on the sword of top heavy administration and the delivery of poor health care by poor triage, lazy execution. This has been compounded by selection of nurses whose morbid obesity raised issues about their fitness to work in this demanding setting. I was troubled by the rigidity in their thinking and their lack of compassion. I seriously wondered if any of the staff remembered that UH was once considered a world class facility If you value your life, Do NOT GO TO UH EMERGENCY ????

Brian Wilson

They were very compassionate towards everyone in the waiting room and once in the ER were examined and diagnosed within half hour. Very good staff.

The staff in their emergency department from checking in, to the triage RN, to the x-ray technician, to Dr. Hames this evening were all extremely professional, compassionate, and totally on the ball. They had me taken care of, and in and out unbelievably quickly, and I am extremely grateful. Hospital is clean, modern, and well staffed. This was my first trip to a London hospital and I was completely blown away by how well run this hospital is, and how fantastic the medical staff are. Thank you!! We are so incredibly lucky to have healthcare like this in this country.

You book an appointment and then need permission to bring a visitor along, but the doctor nor assistant tells you you need that permission. So if you're elderly and cannot speak English well you may want to request permission to bring someone with you in order to translate or else the staff will make you request that on the spot and call the floor who may not even answer the call so you'll be waiting for a while.

Terrible experience here last night. I was in a ton of pain and was there 7 hours. They don't explain what is going on they just leave the room for literally an hour each time. The amount of times I was convinced they forgot about me was insane. I peeked out a few times to see if I could flag anyone down & saw the nurse / doctor just standing there typing on his phone. Also the attitude from almost all of the staff is disgusting. I felt like I was in high school watching the nurses and ER staff literally point and laugh at clients that came to the hospital for a reason. I would rather keep living in pain than have to wait that long very unnecessarily and feel humiliated by groups of staff looking at laughing at me while I'm bend over holding my head and shaking. Absolutely repulsive.

Megan Brekelmans

Okay. Who really likes a hospital? Anywho, my grandmother went here for heart surgery. She was well taken care of, and said the staff was very kind to her.

Katrina Therrien

Staff is amazing.

Recently my father got admitted in hospital. It took them 4 hours to detect that he had a stroke and now the nurses in neuro department they do not care in the night for patients. I personally found them playing games on phone or sleeping. We always have to run to the reception for a nurse if we need anything. I would say management has to work on the work ethics.

Used to always recommend this place they were very help with every problem I've had. Till today! Made it a terrible experience that I never want to go back ???? . After pain in 2am bearly slept. It was a embarrassing fact I went in and the first nurse didn't make me feel any better. She was very mean and rude. I left and went somewhere else. ????

Bradley B.

In the space of 2 weeks, I went to emergency twice and was admitted twice, once for surgery, and once for after surgery fix. The nursing staff and doctors in both emergency and on the 8th floor were absolutely fantastic. They have a difficult job at the best of time. During the pandemic, despite being overworked and stressed, they still provided compassionate care. Total respect and admiration for them. Unfortunately, I have been to U.H. a few times. While the care has been fantastic, the food always seemed like more of a punishment. I do realize that I was on a restricted diet, but it seemed like they were using horrible food to make the patients want to be discharged as soon as possible.

Crazy wait times some nights, but it's the only option if you desperately need a resolution. The doctors are knowledgeable and all 3 times I have been here resolved my questions and answered them timely. The final time, the doctor was particularly rude and condescending regarding my pain and didn't listen well, and after waiting around 11 hours that was pretty ridiculous. It just depends on your doctor, some of them are awful and arrogant.

Horrible experience, unprofessional ER staff. Told me I had to wait 7 hours and when I responded with an accurate response she told me "that's life". Truly had no sympathy for the patients in pain.

One of the least organized causality centre in the world.!’ The registration and the follow up Is worse than any underdeveloped countries! 100% irresponsible team operating at this centre!! Came at 12 midnight with high fever, they sad the wait time was 5 hours! Now it is 7 am and no one has done any help for us . In the wait room there are only two patients waiting - what are these guys doing inside - eating and chatting - playing on the cell phones !!!! Terrific!!!!! Good save them!!! Yes

used to be the best back in the 90,S. I went there few years ago thinking this is still is the best london hospital. I was completely wrong. they did nothing for a person with shortness of breath. heart palpitations and irregular heartbeat. they send me home to die . and only come back only when I have a heart attack. there saving the government alot of money when I was forced to go to us and save my life and pay out of my own pocket

Chris S

Don't waste your time sending those e-cards they offer online, because they'll never get delivered. It makes you wandering why the hospital is still offering something that is not being honored. It's not my first time trying to send those cards to a patient. This time, I personally received a call from Janice informing me that my friend had received the card. My friend left the hospital and never received the card, even after she inquired about it to her nurse.

They will make you wait 8 hours for a splint. When you call this department for information about your previous visit, my experience was that she said had no idea and hung up on me. University Emergency

Went in for chest pain and waited in the waiting room for HOURS I was in visible pain and it was hard to breathe. All of which I had told someone about. As we sat in the wait room, I watched a nurse practically yell at a patient for asking about her keys, nurses and doctors sitting on their phones and talking while patients waited, rude and unprofessional staff that seemed unwilling to answer questions and multiple patients up and walk out simply because the wait time was too long. After about 3 and a half hours of waiting in the waiting room, my partner went to the front desk and asked about the wait, the lady said she couldn't tell him except there was still 3 people in front of me. At this point I had been in the waiting room longer than any of these people. And I understand triage, but I think chest pain and shortness of breath is of pretty big importance. Overall, it was an absolutely terrible experience and I think this hospital should take it's crappy reviews into more consideration.

About one week ago, my wife and I went to University hospital. My wife had a repeated coughing with disturbed sleep. After 10 hours waiting, the staff didn't respond to our request for physician visit and we ended up leaving. Their behavior was very terrible.

Vivek Kurdikeri

Great support, better than how I’d dream. Went to the ER with a broken ankle, I was triaged immediately followed by an X-ray. A doctor and the radiologist looked at it without delay and I was treated. Best care anyone in the world can get.

Patrick Bastead

Incredible hospital. Best staff, atmosphere, and Dr's. Can't thank them enough for fixing my son's heart and the care and professionalism they had. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Ambrielle-Lyn McQuaker

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I don't think you could get a better hospital

Alex Maxwell

Doctors are great. Nurses can be horrible. Nurses in ICU watching movies at night and laughing out loud while recovering patients refuse to sleep. Nurses who are busy talking and forget to do things that their patients ask for. Nurses who refuse to do things for patients because they don't personally trust the patients but have visibly proven with other nurses they can be trusted to do certain tasks. Place doesn't look that great but that's not that important. Just putting that here as feedback. Money is better spent on the patients and doctors than renovations. Wi-fi isn't great. Which is okay I guess. Parking can get expensive but I guess all hospitals nowadays sell that parking to third-party to save money.

The staff is super bad. I must say.. how come the hospital staff can behave and show rude behaviour to the patient. Hats of to the hostipal staff stupidity. It’s better not to be in this line if you don’t know how to talk and show respect. They should teach their staff special classes of how to talk to their patient. Hate to be in London with this type of people around. No humanity and no kindness.

As a patient who visits on an almost monthly basis (Crohn's, Type 1 Diabetes, PSC, ostomy, general clumsiness, etc), I'm always happy with my experiences at UH. Wait times can be long, but believe me if you need to be seem immediately you WILL be seen. Most people don't understand that being made to wait is a good thing, it means you're not in immediate danger. Take it as a blessing and bring a book. The staff are great considering the circumstances they face every day. How the nurses can keep smiling is beyond me. We're incredibly luck to have two fantastic hospitals here in London. While I wish people would understand how lucky we are, I wholeheartedly hope they never learn the hard way. In the meantime, thanks University Hospital for keeping me alive despite my immune system's best efforts.

Our first experience with this facilty occured just over a month ago. My wife had a procedure that thank heavens was successful due mainly to the skill of the surgeons Dr. Coulter and Dr. Pandy. Thank you gentlemen! In addition the follow up phone call the day after the surgery was greatly appreciated. I hope the spelling of names was correct?

(Translated) I was one of the employees of this hospital. There are several bad things about it: 1/ The toilets are mixed for men and women. 2/ We were not wearing doctors' uniforms, and some were wearing sportswear or pajamas. 3/ There is no meal for doctors, and there is one restaurant that only serves pizza, and Time Horton does not count points. 4/ Doctors from the Indian community form a party and complain about the rest of the doctors, especially those who come from Arab countries and have racism against Muslims. Kindly address these matters, and thank you.

They definitely have all the bells and whistles, including equipment that came straight off of the starship Discovery. Generally the staff is polite and easy to deal with. There seems to be a bit of a communication issue when it comes to updating information, even if it is phoned directly in but that seems to be pretty common with the medical practice overall. The care is very good. I wish they could do something about the parking which is both expensive and inconvenient.

They took good care of my mom but didn't find out what was wrong.

Absolutely disgusting conduct by ER staff. My friend went to the ER as she was excessively vomiting. ER staff said as she was waiting for two hours "if she wants to get drunk and take up a hospital bed let her suffer". When paramedics took her, they would not tell anyone what hospital they were taking her to. Nobody was allowed to come with her. No contact information was taken by the paramedics or staff despite requests for her to be reached if it was needed after discharge or during her stay. She was not given a diagnosis. This needs to be investigated immediately by hospital management and these insane sociopaths that they have hired to provide patient care that are paid with our tax dollars need to be fired. Honestly, if this is the type of environment hospital management allows then maybe the government needs to step in and take the reigns away from them

I would love to say I had the most amazing experience at university hospital. My husband was very ill when he was admitted and they did everything they could to get him better . The staff in the transplant unit went above and beyond and 8th floor was amazing . Unfortunately he was eventually after almost a month put in icu and eventually passed but they really did everything they could and on top of all of it treated myself and my children like gold and I would like to thank all of them for everything ????????

Dr. Drew Smith (adjunct professor at Schulich Dentistry) and Dr. Joe Armstrong (director of Oral and Maxillofacial Program at Schulich Dentistry) have completely ruined my life. I had no functional concerns regarding my very mild, and perfectly functional, overbite (i.e., no OSA, no TMJ, no speech abnormalities, no restrictions on mastication, no facial pain of any degree). These doctors told me that the jaw surgery and genioplasty (a cosmetic chin procedure that I am alleging was fraudulently billed through OHIP) were required to “fix a severe facial deformity that will worsen with age” and “restore facial harmony”. I am not sure when or why the state of dentistry in this city has so clearly deteriorated. It seems that more and more professionals who once respected patients’ wishes, abided by principles of beneficence and “do no harm” have since been replaced or have transformed into money-hungry marketing tycoons for unnecessary and medically unwarranted plastic surgery procedures. I am not ignorant to the business side of dentistry, but these antics are getting outrageously unethical and they run rampant in this city. It is very alarming that these very invasive cosmetic facial reconstructive surgeries are being pushed on young patients in the absence of any medical justification. I am very concerned about the lack of ethics in the dental field that is going on. To this day, I am still trying to wrap my head around how I walked into University Hospital on my surgery day without any functional concerns, the ability to talk and chew comfortably, and completely free of any pain; only to walk out days later with chronic, debilitating pain, mangled facial nerves, and broken bones. It has brought me to contemplate suicide. And that's what these surgeries were - completely senseless. There has not been a single benefit from the surgery. Adding to my devastation from a poor outcome is the inhumane treatment I received from Dr. Drew Smith and Dr. Joe Armstrong. I am a shell of the person I once was. For the first time in my life, I can no longer invest in myself because I am not sure how much longer I can even hold on. Each day is a struggle. No one can ever truly relate to the utter despair of living with such debilitating and disabling chronic pain, unless something similar has happened to them. And there are so many people out there who are victims of tragic events that irreparably alter the course of their lives. But only in our dental and medical institutions do the perpetrators so seldom have to take any degree of accountability for their actions, and instead, the harmed victims are the ones left ostracized and marginalized, enduring the physical, mental, financial hardships of something they never asked for. I cannot tolerate another minute of this. Where is the humanity? Where is the care for patients?

The staff at this Hospital are amazing, my mom spent 2 weeks in the ICU They work so well as a team. The only thing lacking was the communication to us as a family from the Doctors, I am grateful for there care,

Brought a relative into the hospital emergency room tonight, waited 20 minutes to get noticed by a receptionist. We had been told by a Walk in Clinic in London to go immediately to the hospital as my relative had an extreme case of diverticulitis leading to serve abdominal pain and fever. When we noted this to the receptionist we were told that "it would be a 7-9 hour wait because the pain was manageable." And that "it would be better for you if you just went home and took a Tylenol rather than wasting time here." She then tossed out the admittance forms and walked away. I have no words for medical professionals who view patients as a waste of time and who, after a doctor has recommended someone to go into the hospital, tell them to go home. Empathy is lacking at this institution.

Was in for an appointment for testing in the Neurology Department. Had never been to the hospital before. Screening was quick and registration was simple. Everyone was wonderful! I recently had an out patient heart ablation- I felt comfortable and cared for the entire time - everything was explained so clear and the staff was absolutely incredible! Such a positive experience.

Visited this hospital a couple days ago with severe pain after being on an airplane, in my ears and my jaw so bad that I was unable to sleep. I was triaged and pulled in quite quick (45 mins approx) they checked my ear and made me bite on a stick to make sure my jaw was ok. At this time , unsure if she was a doctor or nurse told me there was nothing wrong with me to head home with no answers, she was very rushed and I felt not very interested in finding some answers for me. Tonight I visited another hospital to find out I have a damaged ear drum and a lot of fluid in my ear, they said they are unsure how this could have been missed it’s so bad I am taking the largest dose of antibiotic now. I would not recommend this hospital, if you can avoid it, you should.

Receptionists are not helpful whatsoever. Its like they don't realize they're working at a hospital where they're going to be dealing with sick people. They gave me attitude before I even opened my mouth to tell them what my issue is. They disappear for long stretches at times and it just seems like they don't want to be there. The nurses and doctors are actually quite helpful but good luck actually seeing them. Ive been there twice and both times I was told that I have to wait 8 hours just to see a doctor. If I had 8 hours, I wouldn't be at the emergency. A pathetic excuse for a hospital. Rather stay in bed and deal with whatever I got than come here and deal with the receptionists attitudes. DO NOT go to this hospital. Literally any other hospital will be a better choice than this one

Terrible parking staff. Came in on Thursday night because my wife was in emergency and when I went in to ask a simple question about the rates I was greeted by one of the rudest women I have ever met. While perching herself by the knee on an office chair, she told me to "go away." I tried to explain that I had a question about the rates and she just laughed in my face and told me just to pay my ticket in the machine. Her co-worker just sat there reading while I took this abuse. When I asked for her name she said "I don't need to give you that." I told her I would speak to her manager about this behaviour. On Saturday I called the office and a gentleman informed me that the manager only works weekdays and that the name of the woman I spoke to was "Janice." To "Janice": While I can understand a person in a customer service position being frustrated, that is no excuse for the rudeness and laziness you showed me.

Dianne De Ruysscher

Was in pre-admission clinic ,walk out of the room I was waiting in with my mother who to have surgery and was looking for a restroom and happened to step out in front of a female in white lab coat ,said I was sorry and rudely asked what I was looking for when I told her her attitude remained the same as she directed me.White lab coats do not make people GOD and give them to tray people rudely. We had at this point had been there 4 hours

I waited seven hours in Emergency tonight and never saw a doctor. I went in with right-side abdominal pain that has persisted for two days. They did a urine sample and blood test before bringing me to the back waiting room. I was back there for four hours and saw a nurse once. The nurses visited the patients beside me multiple times, but not one came to check on me or to ask if I felt any worse. Fifteen minutes before I walked out, a patient experiencing a psychotic episode came in. After she was admitted, some of the nurses laughed about the scene the girl had made and discussed and laughed about some of her past psychotic episodes. The doctor even joked and said "just give her Saline". The lack of empathy shown by the staff working emergency tonight disgusts me. I left without knowing what is causing my abdominal pain, but it's honestly better than waiting even longer to be seen by unprofessional and uncaring staff.

Graham Hanlon

Called there said i had dental pain, they said sure come on in, we have a dental clinc that will fix you up, drove an hour to get there, where we were told there is no clinic open there and reception couldnt figure out why we sent there. Bloody joke.

"Do no harm" goes right out the window when there is a chance for these greedy surgeons to maximize their profits. Very corrupt hospital in my experience. Pushes unnecessary surgeries to maximize profits and then abandon their patients when things go wrong. Nowadays, killing a patient is not enough to warrant a slap on the wrist by the Royal College. Absolutely disgusting.

Mike Smythe

I was there Wednesday for a angiogram , I was very nervous as it was my first time as a patient. The staff, nurses and doctors were all incredibly kind, knowledgeable and caring professionals. I can’t thank the cardio day night crew enough .

have been there twice in Emergency Department, both of them were because of neurological pain headache and vertigo. The first time was before COVID, it was slow but the treatment was efficient, despite after several hours waiting (referred to there by family physician). Second time was during COVID, but the symptoms were worse, with vertigo, motion sickness and severe headache. Admitted to acute care unit quite fast, did the CT scan there, and have a neurology PGY doctor coming to follow up, his name was Dr. Stanley Li. The nurse was also amazing, her name was Leah, if my memory is correct...finally after hours, i got recovered, and got back home... So, if you have emergency near UH, don't worry, just go...

This is a challenging review to leave. I had previously posted but given today’s events I thought it wise to alter my review. The long and short of my new review however is to warn that people need to be aware that negative reviews of the hospital and departments impact upon the care you receive. My first attempt to get into Emergency in the last week of November had me being turned away since "I was well enough to walk in and talk and so was healthy enough to wait for a walk in clinic". A week later sent in by Telehealth was a different experience all together. On, Dec. 11th, I was quickly registered and admitted. I was Covid tested before entrance and then a wonderfully kind Student Intern sat and took my information, listing to the issues I was facing. As the afternoon went on this same young lady could be heard going from person to person in emergency using the same patient, kind and respectful manner. During this period I had a blood sample as well as other samples taken and all was generally positive. The intern during this period (Dec. 12, from 1pm-5 pm) should be commended and I hope as she becomes a doctor she remains the same kind hearted individual. 3 hours later, a shift change took place and everything changed. The nurse who came in marched around reexamining everyone. I was quickly told that I should not have come in as this was an Emergency room. At one point she noted to others that "the persons in Bays 1, 3, and 5 were a waste of Emerg's time" She again took blood and other samples despite the new intern telling her that they had already been taken. When she then noticed that the results of the original samples were there she huffed and threw out the new vials of blood. She could then be heard moving through emergency berating other patients - even when in many cases they clearly needed assistance. At point an elderly lady in the room called for help because she needed to go to the washroom right away and this same nurse told her to wait and left for 20 minutes. Unsurprisingly this lady then had an accident and was berated by the nurse upon her untimely return. For hours this same nurse could be heard gossiping to others who came in and complaining about patients. The change in attitude between the student Intern at the outset and the nurse afterwards was stunning. I wonder is it the nature of the job, the work environment, shear exhaustion or is it personality? How do individuals who want to help and treat sick people become so brisk and mean at times? I think it would help every doctor and nurse to remember that we are all sick at times and most of us will be elderly and require help at one point. When dealing with patients, whoever they are, ask yourself the question - how would I like to be treated if I was older, alone, scared, and sick? After 7 months of being bounced through walk in clinics with no help I was given a referral to the gastronomy clinic. Following the holidays I was called by the gastronomy clinic and had a 1 hour talk with a doctor who never listened and reordered the same tests performed in emergency. I was issued medicine and blood tests were ordered. Afterwards I was contacted by Patient Relation Services to review my time in Emergency and with the Gastronomy Clinic. I was frank and honest with the outreach person and as a result this morning I was contacted by the Gastronomy Clinic at University Hospital and bluntly informed by the lady who called that “given my review and comments I would clearly feel better cared for at another institution. They therefore considered my case closed as the doctor did not have any future time to deal with my issue and wished me the best of luck.” Even Patient Services were flippant and informed me that I was no longer welcome at UH. I am stunned at how quickly my comments to Patient Services about not being listened to were transformed into being told that I was no longer welcome at the referred clinic in the hospital. Very disappointing - if you leave a negative review or ask a question you are not welcome here.

I am absolutely ashamed of how the staff at University Hospital Emergency room treat the patients with their indignant attitudes. I have been sitting here for almost 6hrs and the whole time there has been an elderly man (92 years old) with his daughter patiently waiting. It is now past 1am and when his daughter asked how much longer since he is fading, the receptionist replied, "another 1 or 2 hours". This staff shows no empathy or compassion to the elderly. Shouldn't these elderly people have preferential treatment? This is absolutely crazy what I am witnessing here tonight!!! Maybe the board should be reviewing their frontline staff conduct and procedures. VJ

I had to go to the emergency today in the morning. I was getting very bad muscle cramps in my right hipand down into my leg.. It's was a 2-3 waiting time..got in 2 hr's later ..I meet 3 amazing people ( 2 student doctors ) and ( 1 nurse ??) .They were explaining everything to me they check out head to toes they where FANTASTIC >> I wish I had got their names keep the good work up

P Shelswell

They made sure i knew the full meaning of pain. They caused unnecessary nerve damage and severe ptsd, also they forgot to use the correct medical supplies, resulting in further pain. The hospital room was cleaned once in 2 weeks, after a complaint was filed (the toilet was black and the garbage can was overflowing. Not patient focused, very disorganized and dangerous. There is a culture of silence on the part of staff.

emily shierman

The receptionist took my name down incorrectly even after I presented my health card. This is a professional setting and little mistakes can be fatal. Then when I went up to ask why I hadn't been called after 4 hours the receptionist claimed they had... USING MY MIDDLE NAME???? No one in their right mind responds to their middle name. So hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else when they are in the waiting room in excruciating pain.

I had an ICD implant done here in May 2019. The entire process was flawless, starting with Vicky contacting me to book it, followed by Alesa's clear instructions when I came a few days before the surgery and everything being perfectly organized on the surgery day. The pre-surgery conversation with the EP Fellow was clear and the nurses made sure everything was fine around me before, during and after the surgery. The specialist briefly described to me at the end of the surgery what had happened and 90 minutes later I was on my way home. Thank you all! Hope your efforts will add a few more years to my wonderful life.

I really wish that there were a 0 star rating. By far the worst hospital I have even set foot in. We have sat in the ER for the last 5 hours, watching patient after patient who have come in long after us be taken in first. The nurse that sits at the registration desk is extremely rude and unprofessional. Some of the comments she has made to patients coming in had me in utter disbelief. Definitely not someone who should be working in the healthcare field. Absolutely no compassion whatsoever. The nurses spend more time standing around socializing than they do tending to patients. If you are in desperate need of medical attention, please seek it elsewhere. UPDATE: it has been 5 days since we visited this hospital. My boyfriend has now received a $45 bill for ambulance services.. WE DROVE OURSELVES THERE, HE WALKED IN ON HIS OWN. Does anyone at this hospital actually know what they’re doing?

Christa White

Not only do you have to wait hours on end but the staff here likes to laugh and mock people with mental illnesses. A son came with his father, the son stated he hasn't had his Schizophrenia medication in three months. He was a little upset but instead of giving him the help him and his father needed, he was told to leave. A group of nurses then watched them being escorted out of the building in their nurses station and they were laughing. This literally makes me sick to my stomach, you're suppose to be here to help people not judge or think you're better than these people who come in here, clearly these people needed help and I think this was so unprofessional. Just so disgusted!

Elisabeth Engl

I was in and out in 2 1/2 hrs.The exray tech.did a very thorough job.I had trouble walking due to a knee problem and was offered a wheelchair, which I chose to decline. The attending physician was very friendly and thorough and explained everything to me.A very positive experience overall.

Hi my name is willy verbeek Was in er Brought by ambulance at 1030pm I have congestive heart failure with 15 percent of my heart working My systolic blood pressure was at 120 and I told them it should be at 80 I told the nurse to read my history and she didnt Finally was put in a bed the next day at 530am I explained I had fluid build up and the er doctor was not friendly They had my history but continued to treat me with no respect and badgered me with questions I told them to notify the heart specialist and they couldn't be bothered. Finally got treated and had 10 lbs fluid removed What's wrong with these people when they know my history No compassion Felt like a peasant When they finally kicked me out I didnt have my bank card as I was rushed by ambulance When I asked for taxi voucher I was denied and made to feel like trash In the past I have been given a taxi voucher She did not care Where did the care and compassion go Where are the priorities Why are they not reprimanded People on cell phones while they work not acceptable What a shame Do I want to go back Not really So scared to get a heart transplant there based on what I have been going through there Willy Verbeek

I had emergency open heart surgery here 3 years ago & it was successful. My surgeon, Dr. David Nagpaul, was the most compassionate Dr. I've had in my 76 years. He is obviously very skilled as I later learned he's also done heart transplants. I was in hospital 10 days instead of the 'normal' 3 days for by-pass surgery due to a previously unknown health condition. During my stay approx. 30 nurses attended to me & all were excellent. Dr. Nagpaul & the other surgeons with him saved my life.

I have never had an issue with university hospital until last night, 6 hours I was there with intense back pain, swelling of my spine and stretched or torn ligaments in my leg after being crushed by a 1200 lb horse, 6 hours! I was there at 4:30pm, at 8:30pm I was given a shot of toradol for the pain and was bumped up the priority list - I was told it would be another hour and only 1 person ahead of, me, at 10:30pm I'm still waiting so I asked the registration nurses roughly how much longer because I was told an hour 2 hours ago now. The girl told me there were still 3 people ahead of me ....... 2 hours ago the was only 1 person and only 1 er doctor on duty, I understand there are more pressing emergencies then mine but seriously 1dr??? There is no reason for that. I left after 6+ hours without being seen, not ok

I recently went to the ER.I waited for 3 hours only to be put in a dirty pod with dirty linens and used gloves throwing around the pod.The nurses stood around and gossip about the patients and laugh while some patients were crying out in pain. The elderly were neglected and laughed at.The most outrageous was only 2 triage nurses wore face masks one in intake and I seen one nurse wearing a mask at the nurses station ..the triage doctor didn’t even wear a mask.I eventually got dressed and walked out as I over heard someone ask which pod I was in ,a nurse replies by saying “oh the Indian she’s in FP4”I walked out sick as I was I will never go back to University hospital again DEFUND Community Hospitals

Terrible experience. Spent 8hrs here for hearing “sorry, we dont know what it is and you need to consult a different doctor”. And they did 5 different tests to say this. Never ever Ill be coming here again for any reason.

Madeline Strang

The best 24hr urgent care facility in London. All of the medical staff were efficient, empathetic, knowledgeable and courteous. Was only in ER for a total of 2 hrs, including wait time. Only spent approx. 30 mins in waiting room before being assessed by medical team. My time there was like going to a spa in comparison to hospitals like Victoria.

Refused care upon arrival at Emergency University Hospital because of Covid restrictions but given no help of what to do or where to go. Messaged Patient Services and was quickly told off and warned that I should not come back to UH given my comments. Message is clear, staff here don't want to help you if you are in an emergency situation and if you complain to Patient Services you are unwelcome in the future. Whole system is taxed and stretched with covid but attitudes there are not helping.

UH took care of my mother in law before she passed and they staff did so much for her. Today during covid times my mom is in surgery and we can’t be there with her. I was scared to call in for an update because I didn’t want to bother them but was pleased with how quickly I got through to a really upbeat, positive, and thorough nurse who gave me the update I was looking for. I was so thankful she took the time.

My Husband recently had a triple bypass. From beginning to end this was seamless. The operating staff under Dr M Myers was outstanding, there to answer questions at what was a concerning time for any family. The cardio ICU and 6th floor staffed with caring and highly trained personnel. No question went unanswered and they kept us informed on a daily basis of his progress. This is our hospital care at it’s best.

I have been admitted to University hospital twice in the last two years, the first was an emergency, the second was elective knee replacement. Both times I was treated with the utmost courtesy and care. The staff were helpful with direction and information. Since this review I have had another knee replacement and again I was treated with the utmost courtesy, I can never stop praising the nurses

Julian

Emergency was a very streamlined process. Friendly and approachable staff. Doctors who take time and listen. Wait time was great. Would recommend.

My husband was in for hernia surgery and felt that the hospital couldn’t have treated him any better including an overnight stay arranged by the emergency department. Surgery was on time and I could monitor his progress on my cell phone.

I’ve usually had good service provided to me, and my family in the past by this institution but the service that was provided 2018/08/02 was absolutely horrendous. Waiting 8 hours to be seen, then to be told to take some Advil as a resolution is unacceptable. Although the doctor was very helpful, kind and courteous. The registration staff are a nightmare to deal with. If you don’t like working with the public, perhaps you should pursue a different job, because the way you treat people in their most vulnerable state is just disgusting. This advice extends out to nurses as well. I understand your job is difficult, especially in the ER, but the cold attidude, and the demeaning behaviour is just offensive. I’ve donated a lot of time, effort and money to this institution. It truly saddens me to see a system operate so poorly. No one is asking for you to be doing a song and dance for each patient that walks in through your doors, but what happened to a little compassion? Instead your met with misery and despair. Terrible. Very terrible. University hospital ER staff, thank you for your hard work, but you really need to treat humans who trust their lives in your hands with the respect they deserve. Never again.

By far the worst hospital in London, came into emergency with trouble breathing, waited nearly 6 hours and left to another hospital to seek help as it was not getting better. They said they would forward the tests and did no such thing. No one here knows how to do their job.

Barbara Lennox

So grateful for the care received by my Mom in the Emerg dept. recently. High level healthcare by caring professionals, especially Dr. Hussani! Much appreciated.

Got into a room fast but then it took over 4 hours just to get results for blood work. Never coming to this hospital again.

excellent care from all support staff, Doctors, Nurses and everybody there, when came there on Sunday May 30, and ditto that comment about all same people i met>earlier in the day at Urgent Care Centre, .love all you people so much!

The only reason to go the emergency room here is if you are sure you are dying. Even then not to get help but just as a convenient place to leave your corpse.

wanted to thank dr.grant coome and all the doctors and nurses who looked at me and went the extra mile to make me feel better I appreciate you so much thank you ❤️

My brother in law arrived here in Canada,in 2016,with lots of complication with kidney and liver. We had many trips to UH with few surgeries to his kidney and few hospitalizations,I would like to thank the Urology team for such a great care and the staff,he is a new man, healthy and happy!

Doctors, Nurses and staff are all very friendly. I did have a problem with a young volunteer working at the front desk who had an attitude problem. All of the other staff made up for his ignorance.

How long should a person wait for a call from patient relations. I have a complaint dated May 17th. It has not yet been rectified.

worst customer service if you don't go with an ambulance. it took me 8 hours to see someone. They pushed me down the waiting list a few times. All the people who came after me to ER went in and they made me wait with a bleeding open wound till midnight. Once I went in the doctor act shocked as for why they didn't send me in first because of the type of injury I had. Don't go there or call for an ambulance so you don't have to deal with the unprofessional customer/patient service desk people.

Needed to get in contact with the ER. Called the phone and the woman who picked up the phone was absolutely awful. Flat out rude, talking back and not helpful at all. I've only ever been to this hospital once. I came into emerge for a week long panic attack. I ended up waiting around 5 hrs between triage and being released. I found the Doctors were very nice towards me but the triage staff were rather rude. Kept on being treated as if I was a drug seeker. Anyone with half a brain could see that I clearly wasn't okay....

Paul Richardson

Ok.... Sad to say that I pulled a bed bug off a wall and told receptionist in the emergency of my find, all they said was to throw it in the garbage??? Really?? And did not seem to care that I found it crawling up the wall!! Any how, I end up flushing it down the toilet. I've heard the UH is a dirty place, but didn't think it be this bad!!

Dr. Armstrong at the Dental Clinic at University Hospital ruined my life and then completely abandoned me. Despite having no functional issues with my mouth prior to surgery, he and my orthodontist went ahead and recommended a highly invasive jaw and chin surgery to correct a very very slight overbite that was barely noticeable and caused me 0 problems. My orthodontist took pictures of my face and profile at our initial consult and pointed out all the things that were supposedly wrong with it, which of course made me insecure (despite never being insecure about my jaw before) so I agreed to meet with the surgeon he recommended, Dr. Armstrong. In my opinion, I was very ill-informed about the risks of this surgery. Somehow this cosmetic surgery was 100% covered by OHIP. Its been well over a year since my surgery and I am experiencing extreme pain and discomfort in the lower 1/3 of my face every single time I talk, chew or even slightly move the area. The entire area feels like it weighs over a hundred pounds and it feels like the chin muscle stiffness up into a rock, making it impossible and painful to talk/chew. It is so isolating living life hoping that no one talks to you because the simple act of talking feels so uncomfortable and painful. I am currently in a deep depression in my early 20s. I have spent thousands of dollars that I don't have meeting with other healthcare professionals to see if they can resolve this issue so I can get my life back. They all can't believe that this invasive surgery was performed on me when I had zero functional issues and my overbite was so small. I have met with Dr. Armstrong on at least 2 occasions to see what can be done about this issue. He has the worst bedside manner I have ever witnessed. When I last met with him, we discussed something as drastic as cutting the IAN nerve to alleviate my constant pain (which after talking to a neurologist is a terrible idea). Afterwards, I got a call from his office saying that he has quote ”seen me enough and doesn't want to see me anymore". I called the hospital to ask how he can abandon me in this manner and they said according to his notes I was "thrilled with the outcome and have no more issues". In my opinion, Dr. Armstrong is the most unethical healthcare professional I have ever encountered. I am currently in the process of filing a report with the Royal College. Please do not let him ruin your life like he has ruined mine. Stay away from the dental clinic at University Hospital. I have heard much better things about the surgeon at VH and the surgeons at Interface.

My husband has been in hospital for 2 wks. He is bedridden and has been transferred x2 .....and AGAIN -----no tech to install a tv when its been paid for -for 2 wks over $200 .On 4th floor a tech came up --took him aprox 5 mins to hook it up. Then he got transferred from Bed A to B...4th fl rm 309.. NOW they have transferred him to ...rm 303 Bed A-9th floor. We as a family have been WAITING AND WAITING!!!!! for a tech to just bring him a tv and hookup. Don cannot get out of bed. He has nothing to watch...and to keep him settled, which helps everyone all around. He is missing his Hockey, news....shows...the ONLY thing he can enjoy right now..as he has a fractured hip. It seems cruel that this seems to be a big problem in a LG hospital with ONE tech...for U.H and Vic.....This is not patient centered care!! We again as a family try very hard to not be bothersome to staff. Our patience has run out i am afraid...HOW ON EARTH CAN WE CORRECT THIS SITUATION!!!! I do realize its the holidays.....but can you just understand for a moment what he is asking for is minimal. This is HORRID service and something needs to be done. Please do something....for his comfort....and mental well being. Not living up to the standards of your Mission Statement. Susan Davidson.....( my husband is Donald Murray)....

I wish I could give 0 stars. The front staff are extremely unprofessional. They messed up my husbands appt which is a dental emergency as he's had to miss several days of work because of pain and then they tried to blame us. Neither of the woman even apologized for the mix up and was extremely rude when saying 'I guess we could fit you in tomorrow but you know the dentist barley has time'. Absolutely disgusting treatment from people who are in a workplace where compassion is needed. I will absolutely never go here and will pass on my bad experience to anyone who will listen to avoid having to deal with such an incredibly ignorant staff.

Went to Emerg and was turned away and told to go to another hospital. Told to contact Patient Services who said they "would look into the situation to help make the hospital a better place for future patients". I am sure that excuse works when you are a customer service clerk as a teenager, but turning people away and then having adminstration give some bland answer about "looking into matters" is really pathetic. No wonder there is a health crisis going on right now...perhaps stop paying for a Patient Experience department and get more doctors in...or nurses that want to work instead of ignoring people and sending them away

sonny ficic

Someone should reward the cleaners on the 7th floor in the stroke area intensive care. Extremely clean floors and always seeing stuff wiped down. Some very good nurses working on that floor and some very bad ones. Depends on your luck i guess. The 4 stars is mainly for the cleaners !!!

Not that nice actually, phoned the Hospital number and was told by the phone receptionist to keep trying the number I had been trying for over seven hours to confirm the date for my operation and was further told that it was too far from the date of my scheduled surgery to try contacting the surgeons office as I was required to do by the letter I had received from his office asking me to phone and confirm the date of my operation. Something not quite right here would you not say ?.

If you're young, donate blood to this hospital, if you're old, donate money; and if you're somewhere in between, donate both. I admitted myself to the ER at University Hospital in the evening on Friday August 30th, for moderate hemoptysis. The wait time on the white board said 3-4 hours, & I was in to see a doctor within that time window. The staff were concerned I may have TB, as I had done some traveling in China & SE Asia, so I was placed in a special room under airborne precaution to avoid potentially infecting others. Around 5am I was moved upstairs to a private room, where I spent the next 4.5 days under careful observation. A 5 star review doesn't mean the experience was perfect, (although some of the staff were remarkably close), there was a lot of waiting, some pain and discomfort, and parking was not ideal, but all of that is to be expected when entering a hospital in London. The staff were absolutely outstanding (I was tended to by no less than 6 nurses during my time there, & I lost count of the number of doctors & residents that looked after me, but it was at least 10). Whatever these men & women are paid, they deserve double. Their jobs are incredibly demanding, they are very thorough, and I felt well cared-for my entire time at University Hospital. Be nice to your nurses, and decent to your doctors, because they just may save your life one day. I was fortunate in that it turned out my life was probably not in danger--I didn't have TB--but the staff went through a myriad of tests & checks to make sure of this before sending me on my way. Procedures were discussed and considered with utmost care, I was asked my history & opinion on things numerous times, I was checked on regularly to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, the staff really went above and beyond for me. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart, and have tremendous respect for them, they are heroes, all. A special shout-out to Brenda the housekeeper as well, that woman deserves a raise!

I went to the ER by ambulance at 3am for intense abdominal pain, and as of 7:34am I'm still sitting in the ER. Thanks for making me sit in pain for hours.

Came with tight chest (have a heart condition) before 10am and still waiting at 1:30pm. I'm lucky I'm still alive to be rating them right now lol though it's not funny. They took my ecg at the time my chest was very heavy. I don't think they are triaging properly. There was also a lady vomiting in the waiting room for couple of hours before she was taken in.

Never go to this emergency room. I was there for two day in a row, the first day i was all day at the end of the day told me i had to come back next day for ultrasound so i went at 10:30 am next day and i was there until 6: 30 pm, they did not care i was pregnant without lunch and finally, when they decided to give me the results for the ultrasound, the doctor said he was not sure about the diagnostic and I have to go to another hospital. The worst part I had to go To another hospital and start again all the process. I lost my entire time there. What a bad experience.

Very bad experience. Came in after car accident and had Dr. J. Pace as my doctor, I was in a lot of pain and in shock after my accident and kindly asked for some water or drink to which all the nurse in charge of me refused rudely. The doctor didn’t assess me properly and quickly made a judgment based off a 30 second assessment and discharged me with minor concussion without explaining to me how to treat myself or get better. I requested nicely for a head scan to which he rudely refused and when I asked for another doctor for a second opinion he refused to allow me to do that. Afterwards he just discharged me and I left feeling horrible. I have been here before with a better experience but on this occasion both the nurse and doctor were very rude

Hassan Ali

Came into the emergency room with extreme back pain. After waiting almost 5 hours for a doctor to look at me nothing. I asked regarding the wait time and I found that there were 8 people ahead of me which would take an estimated additional 3-4hrs. I couldn't bear waiting so I left in pain. Don't bother going unless you like to spend 6-9hrs waiting.

Stephanie

I was sent here from work due to a severe migraine, dizziness, double vision, and being light headed. A long waiting time is a given with any hospital so I was understanding with that aspect. Once I was taken in to see a doctor, I received three types of medications, one of them making me completely drowsy and dilusional. While in this state, the doctor came to talk to me and I couldn't give him full and detailed descriptions on my issue and I feel like because of this, they didn't take me seriously. They quickly gave me a cat scan and were very adamant about sending me home right after and wanted to call me with the results. They knew I drove there, and they wanted to send me home in the woozy state I was in. They sent me home with no answers as to what was wrong with me, no medication, not even a recommendation. The nurse said maybe my diet. I couldn't believe this. I will never come back here and will be making sure I tell everyone I know the same thing.

Lindsey Arseneau

My fiance had an appointment for 930 with pre-admission for an anaesthesia consult. I am STILL waiting for him. This is unacceptable as not only have we been patiently waiting to be seen, but there is no sense of urgency in that office. Everyone is either confused or seemingly doing nothing, as we just wait and wait. Waiting that long for such a short consult doesn't make sense at all. Thank god we didn't need immediate attention or anything.

Ted Kovacs

During my two stays in University Hospital , I could not have asked for any better care at all. The Dr,s were all great people and showed compassion and concern to my wee being ,but the Nursing Staff that attended me surpassed all the doctors 200% with their kindness and caring to make sure I was comfortable and keeping me up to date with all I had to do. This hospital is the best bar none . Thank you for all you have done to help me with both my operations,my knees work great thanks to you people .

is there an ethics committee within the hospital that I can file a complaint about an unethical surgeon? Is there someone I can meet with to whom I can present a case of gross negligence and malpractice? I'm not talking about the Royal College or the Patient Relations Office, but some who is in charge of ethical conduct of doctors and can discipline them within the hospital structure? I have allegations of gross negligence, malpractice, unethical conduct, patient abandonment and OHIP fraud.

Kaitlynn Barber

My grandfather had been in the hospital for the past two weeks.During his stay, he had seen the doctor only a few times and was treated very poorly. Him and the other fellow that he shared a room with, waited nearly an hour to go to the bathroom, as they were both in need of assistance. The other gentleman had asked for two hot blankets and waited for a half hour before a nurse came and rudely stated that he "could only have one". In my personal opinion, most of the staff on the 7th floor need an attitude check and to learn some basic manners. These people entrust you with their care and rely on you to help them. At least do your jobs. You shouldn't get paid to just sit there. Thanks.

Cindy Cesarone

I have nothing but good to say about the staff,as for waiting times it is what it is and they go by triage the worst first seems reasonable to me.They are doing their best with the cuts the government are making.Give them a break.

Karen K

Worst experiences of my life. Doctors and nurses are not AT ALL properly trained. Put me in a very serious life threatening situation because of their lack of education.

Rob G

While I am grateful for all efforts on behalf of todays medical professionals (where would we be without them ?), I am extremely disappointed in this hospitals recent hastened release of my younger brother after his heart valve repair. He consistently informed the staff that he was in much pain and having difficulty breathing post-op. Nevertheless, they assured him that he was ready to be released and this is exactly what they did on his 5th morning there. Back home 48 hours later, our local hospital drained 1 litre of blood from his lungs and additionally discovered a broken rib. A close call for him and an unnecessary one at that had any measure of due diligence been followed. Frustrated and somewhat angry here, needless to say.

The people are nice and respectful at least the ones I came in contact with. I had a bad cut to the corner of my eye and needed it either stitched or glued... I arrived there at 9:45pm and had to wait till 5:00am the following day for something that literally took 1min to glue...

Reception as always is a pain, but wasn't too bad this time; Its expected ????. My wife was taken in right away as needed, but it seems that simple things take too long sometimes. Staff was good in general except Dolores in ER bubble A. She is the sweetest politest most caring nurse i've ever met. We didn't have the chance to thank her as she finished her shift before we left. Thanks a bunch Dolores????

Des Stutchbury

If you have pain they do not care at all. The general surgery department is uncaring and cruel. I would not recommend this hospital but sometimes you have no choice. Furthermore, the Patient Complaint Department is a joke. They specialize in CYA. I can honestly say I would prefer death than to see them again.

Mohammad Akbari

Terrible service! I took my wife there yesterday. They could see her having difficulty in breathing, but nobody cared. we had to wait for an hour for the first visit, and took me another couple of hours for the second. When I told them that I am here because here is "Emergency" they just answered me that you can take your wife if you are not happy here. She is not our priority. I have been in several countries, and I know that "Emergency" is a place where there is enough personnel to take care of patients in a reasonable time. What is the difference of Emergency and Dr. office though if I have to wait 2 hours for initial examinations? I do not say this is nurses or Dr.s problem, this a systematic problem in Canada's health care system.

came in today around 12 a.m after bleeding while peeing. there were only 4 other patients there at the time i arrived, and within the last 3 and a half hours NO ONE WAS SEEN. i left at 3:30 because i’d rather die at home in my bed than there. Majority of the people left too. How was no one seen within the last 4 hours? Why werent we at least given reassurance that we would be seen? it sucks that staff were just laughing with one another than making sure patients felt comfortable while waiting for god knows what. they probably make you wait till 6 am when more staff arrive for their shift.

Theo Kung

Do not go to this hospital and they make you sit there for no reason.Even in Covid 19 they have seen 5 patients in 6 hours in emergency department. So many useless employees and they have shortage of Drs. Even I saw employees gossiping inside and totally waste of tax payers money.
