Most of the time I don't have a lot of good things to say about this place. When I brought my daughter in with burns last night they were great. Took her straight back had more than one person working with her and always had someone close by to answer any questions we had.
Emergency room staff are just plain rude. My husband was on the 2nd floor He needed to walk around to get his blood flowing so we walked down the hall to emergency room. He got dizzy while there and I asked for a wheelchair to get him back to his room and was going to bring it back the lady told me we don't give out wheelchairs. She was rude and should pick a different profession because a good nurse or receptionist would have got him a wheelchair. Getting out of that chair was not going to hurt you sweetie.
Terrible service. We have been here for 2 hours and the doctor came in after waiting an hour. He left and was supposed to order an IV and tests but after waiting another hour still havent seen anyone. I went to the nurses station only to be ignored by 3 people standing around talking, and 2 people at the desk. Even after saying "Excuse me" they wouldn't even look up at me. I finally walked down further to a young man propped back in his chair with his arms behind his head. I told him we had waited 2 hours and no one was helping us. He said it was a shift change and someone would be with us shortly. Still waiting. Absolutely ridiculous service for an ER!
The Er staff is great
My mother was in this awful hospital for 3weeks. I tried to get her transferred somewhere else. The nurses are rude and neglectful. The Doctors here are really heartless I don't see why anyone would go here. If you have to go to the er I would suggest somewhere you would actually get help.
Miss diagnosed the love of my life twice in one week and I almost lost her. Finally got it right the third time.
The doctors act like you are infringing on their personal time and are not very knowledgeable. They have some great doctors in the hospital but the ED is a whole nother story! I had really hoped that Brookwood would turn this place around for the better. Instead they seem to be happy with the band-aid clinics reputation and are keeping with it.
I paid a bill from them in October. Then in November they sent the bill to a bill collector, 7 days after I paid the bill. Glad I keep records or they would have basically robbed me, and if I did not pay, ruin my credit.
Befor I complain I do want to say the staff at the entrance are very nice. But L&D staff need to learn their manners I had my baby there last year im a first time mom and wanted to know more about the medications they were going to give me to get my labor going well they decided that they were just going to wait until 6am to start only one of the medications there were supposed to be 2 one was supposed to be started at 10pm and the other at 6am I had to stay there all night long and I couldnt eat anything at all. And after I had my baby I had a strict birth plan i wanted to breast feed well that was all ruined when they came in at 4:30am and I didnt get my baby back until 10am or 11am. Also they wouldnt let me or my husband in the nursery to see my baby they said I had to wait until they brought her back to my room I didnt get to give her 1st bath I didnt get to breast feed I had an all round horrible experience i really hope I get sent to a different hospital this time around
They are getting better than they where.
I was born at this hospital 19 years ago. They almost killed me at birth. Well, October of 2019, I had a miscarriage.. Or so I thought. I was reading 2 weeks gestation. I went there last night (December 2,2019) and they didn't even do a pregnancy test. I was asked 3 different times when my last pregnancy test was. They didn't even do one. Well, I ended up having the Norovirus. They didn't even know what was wrong with me. Sorry excuse for a hospital if you ask me
Had to wait 23+ hours for a bed last Friday night 8-13-2021,,, moving to Brookwood Medical for Rehab today 8-20-2021,,, I've spent 4 nights at home in the past month,,and only 7 nights since May 24 th,,2021,,,I'm praying to be able to get rehab and walk again and go home and live a good life May God get the Glory for my healing,, l got Covid and that's why I spent this last month in the hospital,, Praise God for his healing,, and Good doctors and nurses But, your frame of mind has alot to do with how you heal,,,
This place is a joke. I honestly wish I would have listened to people around this town to never go there!!! THEY WILL LET YOU DIE THERE!! I called them 10 minutes before I got there to let them know I was on the way with a medical emergency and if they could have someone outside with a wheelchair my husband was unresponsive and delusional. When I got there NO1 was outside I walked in and let them.know I was the one who called the lady at the desk said you need a wheel chair I said yes immediately it still took them 3 minutes to come out. I had no idea what was wrong with him she asked I said o didn't know and the first thing she said was he on drugs??? Are you kidding me???? Then she left him there for me to wheel in and wait and I said he needs to see a doctor immediately.
They treat everyone like they are drug addicts and show no compassion for the disabled or people in chronic pain! Apart from dieing I would not go there.
Walker Baptist Medical Center: The only reason CRMC is still in business.
Any time I have ever been in here, which seems like a lot in the past couple months???? I’ve always got treated with respect and the care I needed . All the staff nurses and doctors are amazing and I will continue to come here for all my emergency needs ????
It's a decent hospital but I'd rather go somewhere else for a serious condition.
Dr.Hall and staff in 2nd floor intermediate.
I went to the ER lastnight with head injury from falling into the tub head first. After 30 minutes or longer of waiting I was called to Triage. Nurses in Triage were rushing me! My BP was 215 /127....they told me to sit in waiting room. Finally, I was called to a room. Had to walk to it Dizzy, in pain! Dr came in, asking questions but barely giving me time to respond. Took me to Xray (that guy was nice)..... took me back....WAITED, in pain. My husband called for a nurse, hung up on. Twice. Called again, asked for our nurse...Nothing! My husband went to the desk. Dr came in, released me saying I had a Viral Infection and Contusion on my head. Gave me Oral Steroid before leaving and prescription for it. I had to ask to have my BP checked again. .which was 215 /119. Nurse went to see what the Dr wanted to do about it and Apparently NOTHING! Here I am the next morning with BP still high and ringing in my ears, excruciating pain!!!! I also want to say to the family who rushed in with their baby who hit concrete, UNRESPONSIVE, white as a ghost, and was told to sit in waiting room......I hope that precious baby is ok!!!!
This hospital is not the place to send or have someone you love visit or emitted at!!! The doctors and the majority of the nurses will let you die!! They will not help feed you they barely come in to check on you, if it’s not there time to make rounds you won’t see them!!! We did have my mother transferred to a mother hospital but it was to late for them to save her damage had already been done!!! One of the head nurses got very shady about some things going on, and she was very upset over me calling her out in front of the dr. So please take caution and do not use this hospital I’m begging you and me, my daughter and my sisters stayed around the clock with my mother and we witnessed some extremely disturbing things that happened here!!
Oh Lord I think I broke my ribs. I am hurting so bad. I can't stand this pain. I am so miserably in throbbing pain right now. Lord how j wish they would hurry up and get through with me and release me. I am so ready to go home. ....
Upon my arrival by the paramedics, I overheard the ER attending physician ask where I was coming from and then say, "nothing good comes from Nauvoo". I was at a Level 10 pain due to a kidney stone. I was left alone and unattended for hours. No bed pan. No blanket until the end. It took several hours to get pain relief and then that was it. The nurse asked me where my phone was to call someone to come get me and laughed when I said I didn't have it because I came in a ambulance. Unfortunately due to Graves Disease I have been in many hospitals across the world (UK included) and this was the worse experience of my life. I have their names and please believe I will follow thru with my complaint. I understand now why I have heard such negative reviews about this place.
I have only had dealings with the physical therapy department and they have been very good to me, and done their job very professionally.. They are still working with me and in the process of slowly getting me better.
This place is a glorified bandaid station and a death trap. The people I know who have actually trusted their health and well-being to this joke of a hospital and have come away with scars and deformities that could have been easily avoided. The sheer negligence and lack of caring the staff shows is only eclipsed by their lack of actual medical knowledge. In the case of an emergency, I'd rather be taken anywhere else but this god-awful place. If this 'hospital' was my only choice, I'd rather be left do die on the side of the road. It would be quicker, and probably less painful.
Went to the ER at my PCP's direction for a kidney infection. I was seen by a triage nurse who didn't even take my temp (I was there for fever/chills/flank pain) then sent back to the waiting room to wait over 3 hours without being seen. I walked out. Horrible experience with absolutely zero communication with staff.
Awesome Wi-Fi
Sometimes good sometimes not so good.
Nurses with the worst attitudes and not helpful at all.
Took my friend to the Emergency room. We were there for three hours and she wasn't even triaged. Some people were even there hours before us and had not been seen. Couldn't give us any information about how long of a wait it would be. We left and went to Gardendale and was back home two hours later. This place just sucks.
Great nurses and staff!
My normal doctor was closed so I tried calling here about a problem related to my pregnancy. Before I could even finish telling the lady on the phone she just cut the call to a transfer to Walkers Women's Specialists...which was closed and why I was calling them in the first place!
Jasper Hosp is a joke. Dr Borucki was so mean and rude and no bedside manner. Offering me muscle relaxers when I requested no narcotics and I want to have test ran instead. Told me it was muscle spasms when all he collected was a urine sample. HE REFUSED TO DRAW BLOOD OR DO ANY SCANS OR OTHER TEST. To be treated like a crack head when you straight up try to tell them you don't want hard drugs. Could hear every conversation he was having all the way down the hall. Telling me to go get a doctor when I'm not able to take off work and just go to the doctor. I've been in pain for over a month and just got my insurance 3 days ago. #brookwood #walkerbaptisthospital I've never been treated so badly in my life at a hospital or medical center before.
Ambulance brought my dad here and they couldnt even get in the designated door! Made me wait for an hour in the waiting room till we got up and asked when we could come back to be with him, we are 6 hours into our visit and still no results from not one single test they have done!! And the staff is like a ghost town! Lack of empathy, work ethic, friendliness, patient confidentiality, no sense of urgent, etc. Seen the dr 2 1/2 hours after we got here for literally 20 seconds! What a joke! Some new standards definitely need to be put into place and actions taken if not followed!
The E.R. docs literally killed me. I was brought in unresponsive....They immediately treated me as a drug addict and gave me Narcon (or however you spell it. Never asked my family if took ANY medication(which I do and have a doctor). When the Narcon failed to work, I was rushed to Brookwood was put on a ventilator for 3 days. HAD MILD HEART ATTACK BECAUSE OF THE NARCON....WALKER CAUSED ME TO HAVE A MILD HEART ATTACK BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DID TO ME AND FAILED TO DO. WHAT CAUSED ME TO GO IN UNRESPONSIVE YOU ASK??...ENDED UP BEING DOUBLE PNEUMONIA. WALKER BAPTIST NEARLY KILLED ME BECAUSE THEY AUTOMATICALLY THINK PEOPLE HAVE OVERDOSED (I KNOW MANY ARE TREATED FOR THAT THERE WITH GOOD CAUSE). BUT, NOT ALL OF US THAT LIVE HERE ARE DRUGGIES OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT! I HAD BEEN HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING THE WHOLE DAY....THANK GOD MY HUSBAND WOKE UP AND CHECKED ON ME. BUT, SHAME ON WALKER BAPTIST EMERGENCY ROOM!!
Spent 5 days in the hospital here and I must say, I had excellent care. I was hospitalized with the same condition (pancreatitis) just 3 weeks before at St. Vincent's and Walker was a MUCH better experience. Caring and professional staff who treated me with respect and acted as if I had some intelligence - unlike the staff at St. Vincent's who seemed bothered to treat me. I used to believe that the care at WBMC was second rate - but my experience has proved otherwise.
My elderly mother fell and dislocated her shoulder and had stitches in the head. We sat in the ER From 8:0” am to 6:30 pm with intubated covid patients. She was told she needed to be sent to UAB for specialized shoulder surgery. If we have specialists (Vague and Russell) why does she need UAB? After laying in the ER for 10 hours she finally saw Dr Vague and suddenly she didn’t even need surgery. They stitched her up and put her in a room for the night. The next morning a very rude Dr Perry came in, (he needs a bed side manner!), and asked her why she had stayed with covid in the hospital. This is after she laid in the ER with them! If they had done something in a timely manner it wouldn’t have taken 10 hours and scared her to death about special shoulder surgery! They need organization, communication, and manners. They also need a thank you for some of the people they have to deal with. If it had been a family member of the nurses and doctors they would have had more compassion and care. It should not take that amount of time to come to that conclusion and send her home the next morning!
My brother fell at work and gashed his head open pretty bad.immediately went to this hospital and they said a 2-4 hour wait for stitches and to see if there was any internal bleeding. This happened at 10:30 pm so he was already tired and was in pain! He also asked the lady up front for some kind of medication or something because he was in so much pain. The lady said okay I’ll get you something an hour passed and still nothing. We are definitely headed to UAB!!!
Sorriest hospital. Selfish workers
They are fast and have the most respect
Best hospital i have ever been to. Great staff and even better doctors. Thank you to the ER MD and surgeon Dr Baker for making me better.
i’m in town visiting for a wedding and my 5 month old daughter come down with really bad congestion and couldn’t breath well with all of the mucus build up so my husband drove there at 12 o’clock at night (no stores were open) to see if they could give or us buy a nasal aspirator from them and the lady from the ER told him that it was a 8 hour wait and she couldn’t do anything for him and i called labor and delivery and they said they don’t just keep those “lying around”. i gave birth to my baby 5 months ago i know for a fact hospitals send you home with goodies just like a NASAL ASPIRATOR. for this to be a “Godly” hospital they are very rude and need to go to church. even the other patients in the ER were dumbfounded by this. sad world we live in. do better “baptist” hospital.
No complaint,,time wasnt as long as it used to be. Id give it a thumbs up!!!
I’d give zero if I could. Wait times are astronomical just to see registration, let alone a nurse or doctor. Any high acuity patient is likely to die before ever being seen.
Everyone very friendly and done a great job.
What a joke. Rude people
is it to much to ask to be put in the baby room and my baby be monitored I haven't been feeling well this heat is making me sick I just want what's best for my little one in carrying
Had wonderful care from the staff and Physicisns. Had surgery, spent time in the intensive care unit and on the floor. No complaints here.
Went for pelvic pain a month ago was in the ER for 4 hrs the first dr was nice he done the exam and ordered some test. After all the test some younger dr come in guess they had a shift change. Basically told me since those test are normal they dont know what it is gave me a script of naproxen and told me to go to dr. Well here i am a month later with worsened pain and cant get into a gyno for 2 months around here. This Er sucks cause they wont figure out what is wrong with u and why u are in pain. I did not go just to be told nothings wrong. If nothings wrong i would not be in pain! If insurance companys will stop paying these places till they can get the diagnosis right maybe they will try harder or get dr who can.
I'm one week post surgery, the hospital and staff were excellent in my opinion. I stayed one night, the nurses were terrific! And when the doctor said I could go home, I was in the car in 15 minutes! Also the doctor, Dr. Autry did an awesome job. I haven't needed one pain pill. She's a very nice, concerned doctor who ALWAYS sits down and listens to patient concerns. I recommend her and the hospital 100 percent! Darlene S.
Don't waste your time going here, just go to Birmingham.!
Emergency room sucks . Some good doctor's in the medical arts building
Went to the ER yesterday with my head hurting feels like nails going into my head and they proscribed me Loratadine tablets 10mg relief: sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, itchy throat or nose.
Dr.Aftab is the best doctor ive seen to yet,ive had multiple health problems that were neglected for almost 2 years bc family or doctors would believe me bc of a past drug addiction but Aftab listened and believed,he has been the biggest blessing in my life!!!
I went in on may 30th because i thought i was having a miscarriage. After sitting there for 3hours finally Dr Ceasar A Ravelo came in. He very coldly told me that once a pregnancy is lost its just lost and there was nothing he could do for me. I am rh negative and was supposed to get the RhoGam shot but was denied it and denied an exam. When i asked what if i didnt pass anything he said "thats a possibility. It just happens sometimes. If your really worried about it makr an appointment with an ob" all they did was check my blood pressure which was 165/107. And gave me my discharge papers. Oh and the diagnosis on my discharge papers was "vaginal bleeding problems" that so called dr should lose his liscense.
Gave my wife morphine while in labor & almost killed my baby & she came into this world needing narcan for 3 days! They almost killed my baby,& charged an outrageous amount to counteract what they did. We only go to children’s in Birmingham now.
ISSUE ELECTIC ALABAMA (REPORT HUSBAND MARRIED TO HOME...ALABAMA POWER COMPANY
I wish their staff that is in the nursery was more compassionate to the families.
Takes all day to see a er doctor and most of the time they don't even cheek u out ull easily spend 4 hours and get no answers
Walker Baptist has always had a poor name, everyone that lives within a 50 mile radius knows that. However, when you’re searching for help for your loved one in an emergency situation, you’ll take them anywhere close. That’s how I ended up at WBMC with my husband. We waited in the emergency room for hours as I pleaded with the receptionist that my husband was near fainting from difficultly breathing. The time I spent pleading I could have spent on the road taking him to Birmingham, I should have. My husband spent 2 days at Walker Baptist in the ICU with difficulty breathing, they were rude, unhelpful, and seemingly did nothing for my husband. I finally questioned moving him to Birmingham, no one would answer my questions or even entertain my concerns. I finally demanded he be transferred to another hospital, they did not like that one bit. The nurse made a nasty comment, “if you think he’d be in better hands someone else then take him.” I did just that! PLEASE, DO NOT take your loved one here. Not in an emergency, not for any surgery/procedure. PLEASE! Maybe they would be good to treat a common cold, but THATS IT!
Will never step foot in this hospital again! I will say the nurse was nice, but the care is lacking and its not very clean. Also there were roaches on the wall, so gross!
Very nice docs and nurses,I like when people do not talk down to you they lesson
3 hours waiting in the ER broken shoulder with severe pain waiting for a doctor with severe pain. worse service I ever have. never again.
Was so slow its now 7:33 am wensday an ive been since 9 something yesterday night have the rudest dr ever 8/25/21
When you come seeking help to only be told we will not help you is the saddest part.
Don't go to ER...they act like your emergency is an imposition one ER nurse told me that if people were really hurt, they bypass there and go to Birmingham!!?
This is the worst hospital to go to if your in dying need. My husband came in because of a bad infection in his right leg that hurts him really bad it's turning black on the area. They won't give him pain med but every 6hours and the pain med they giving him don't last no 6hours. Very rude nurses and doctors. Room is nasty when we was brought to his room there was food left on the floor that is still here now from 3days ago. There is a big hole in the wall and also there are roaches not small but big roaches in there rooms. I will not suggest anyone to come to this hospital it's the worst hospital you can go to! I will never come to this hospital again and if I'm dying I will request to take me somewhere else that's how bad this hospital is! Very rude and nasty attitude nurses and doctors! Leaving you waiting in your room and don't even come check on you for 4-5hoirs at a time!
We had our baby at this place the front desk volunteer is rude as can be and after 5 u half to enter the hospital thru the emergency room which is insane bc they make u walk thru where a bunch of sick people are to go to the hospital where people are not sick in the labor and delivery so let's just catch covid and give it to a bunch of babies what a joke this is why this stuff keeps spreading they need another entrance just for these people
I have been through the emergency room several times, I see Dr. Brunner with Walker Women's Specialists and also had a child here and of all of the hospitals I have dealt with or been to in my lifetime Walker Baptist is definitely the best. The facilities are always nice and clean and every member of the staff I have ever encountered has been genuine, courteous and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital. I live over an hour away and there are plenty of hospitals much closer to me but the extra drive is worth it to me every time. I am having surgery there this Wednesday and could not be more comfortable knowing the level of care I will receive!
Would have given this dump 0 stars if possible. Wife was brought in by ambulance and held unwillingly for three days until she could see their psychiatrist. What they do here is criminal, nurses and staff here could not work at any other hospital. ER admit desk and charge nurse were two of the rudest people i have ever encountered. From my own personal experience i'm sure i'll have to get in line, but this facility will be hearing from my attorney in a timely manor.
Worst hospital I've ever been to my girlfriend and I were treated like drug seekers and the officer that was there that night put hands on me when I told the staff I was going to call a lawyer.the nurse hurt my girlfriend because she fell asleep and said this is a hospital not a place for you to rest. I'll drive to Birmingham from now on at least you get treated like a person and not a drug addict.
Needs Better doctors, and better staff, the lack of empathy is disgraceful! Went due to an abscess and was gonna be sent home without iv antibiotics until i threw a fit and they gave me some, no medicine for the pain i was experiencing, I couldn’t open my mouth, chew or anything, the next morning i Was sent from urgent care back to Walker Baptist, The abscess had spread to the lower part of my neck causing swallowing difficulties, six hours I waited to be taken back, with instructions from urgent care that I be admitted and then told it would be six more hours! The nurse practitioner that saw me both times was very dismissive, and not very caring about what was going on! I was crying because I couldn’t even talk, she poked at my mouth and throat and got very aggravated when I couldn’t open my mouth wide enough due to swelling! Not to mention she chuckled when the instructions from urgent care stated they wanted a scan done on my mouth to insure the infection wasn’t spreading in a detrimental way! I’ve never felt so helpless and dismissed like I have the past couple of days in the care of this “doctor” this hospital should be shut down! I intend on calling the board especially since I have the “doctors” name. Currently at home, not admitted, and nothing to ensure that I’ll be better. I’ve never felt as if I didn’t matter in the hands of people who should have taken care of me and my problem. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone!
I was treated in the worse way ever....Left to be in pain....My Dr. had absolutely the worst bedside manors....The Nurses was a dream....made me wanna leave...I felt they just wanted to get rid of me despite having insurance....I hurt the whole the entire time I was there....I wish I was bach in Nashville where hospital care....I'm still n so much pan despite what what the Dr think about my pancreatitus.....it wasn't alcohol rekated...its stress...bad diet...genetic....I will nvr visit this hospital again
Had a baby here, I can say I was happy no one was in the emergency entrance when we came and left but there needs to be ways you can get in without coming through emergency and walking for almost 5 minutes.. I was induced and they took forever to check on me to the point where my baby’s head was almost out of me, I had to call to let them know it was time.. The nurses were alright, kept handing me meds but no water.. hardly ate anything the whole time and my sheets weren’t changed at all. There was hardly anyone in the hospital but it would take extended amounts of time for someone to come to the room, Overall disappointed.. Even my epidural was done horribly, I’ve never experienced pain or it taking 30 minutes, the person they had doing it wasn’t even an anesthesiologist, this hospital is a joke..I don’t recommend having a baby here or coming here period.. if you can avoid it, I would!!
I had a baby here about 3 weeks ago and I've never been done so bad in my life they started asking me about my older kids and about why there dad has them we got a divorce how does that have anything to do with having a baby then for no reason they came into my room just a few hours later and told me that were going to be call the DHR on me and i wasn't allowed to leave without they saying so and I'm a good mom i have older kids on weekends now the dhr has to open a case on for 6 months I will be call a lawyer and see what I can do this the wrose place I've ever been to in my life never go here go to UAB or anywhere else they are very rude as well and they are very out date to ever care for babies if I could I would love to see this place closed down p.s. my name isn't Norma mcnutt
Ok hospital as long as you don't have a major problem.
Great experience in ER . Treated and admitted very good care!!
Not very nice staff and what is the deal with him not accepting Humana Insurance
Checking on a loved one not good
John Fine here
I had two knee replacements and a broke femur bone had to have a rod put in it was on the second floor in the ortho unit the nurses was great they care about the patients but a lot of people doesn't look at the nurses side they have to put up with a lot of stuff
great job by Emergency physician. Found my problem, treated it. Staff followed the orders and got me out quick! always heard bad things but this was great care, great facility
I would not go there for an ingrown toenail. Several misdiagnosis, the lab is pitiful. They said I tested positive for meth, demanded a new test, I tested clean. The director of the hospital came and apologized. I have had several doctors tell me that it happens all the time.
Just go to Birmingham! All the negative reviews are absolutely justified.
The Doctor in the ER was very rude and unprofessional!!!
This ER is the Worst Hospital I have ever been in Nurses and Doctors have extremely bad bed side manners... no compassion at all... It is better to go the extra miles to UAB when there is an emergency because they will transport you there anyways because they are very incompetent..... The nurses and Doctotrs that work there are obviously the REJECTS and was at the BOTTOM of the Class and IT SHOWS....I have always heard bad things about this hospital.... but until I experience it on my own.... I didnt believe it....but boy was i wrong and they were right.... They actually ended up doing more damage to me at the ER before they transferred me to UAB.... sooooo please keep my review in mind when choosing this hospital in a real emergency...it will be a waste of time and possibly endanger you or your loved one more than they already are like when it happen to me on July 24, 2020.... BEWARE FOLKS.....
Went to the Urgent Care and my blood pressure was 70/50, in horrible pain and had lost my vision. They said I was critical and needed to go to hospital by ambulance. My wife wanted me sent to Princeton but they said I probably wouldn’t make it. Taken to ER and finally saw a doctor 4 1/2 hours later. He sent me for a CT scan. I had an AAA Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm that was ready to burst. Doctor ordered the helicopter and I quickly arrived at UAB and was rushed immediately into surgery. By all rights I should have died in the ER waiting to see a doctor. Many thanks to Dr. Pearce and Jake in the ER for their help in getting me to UAB so quickly once they came on duty.
I would not recommend the geriatrics at all. All they do is medicate the patient. My husband was like a zombie he had so much medication in him. I was only trying to get a medical opinion about his health. My husband was there for 7 days and I never saw the doctor. I asked and the case managers said I probably would not get to see him. What a joke...never in my life have I not been able to see the doctor that is suppose to be taking care of a love one of mine. Until the day I chose to take him out of there, then the doctor calls me at home, really. You can't see me but when I am about to move him out you call me, what planet did this doctor come from. When I got him home he had a nicotine patch on him dated 10-9-18, he went in on 10-5-18, they had put patches on him everyday. I picked him up on 10-12-18 so he was getting a double dose of nicotine for 3 days. They forgot to remove the 10-9-18 patch. So if you want your love one to survive do not take them to the geriatrics in this hospital. LIFE is a gift from GOD.
My mother was sent there in May 2018. Supposedly to just stay until a bed became ready at Mary Starke Harper in Tuscaloosa to be treated for Bipolar Manic Episodes. When she got there she walked in, knew how to use a cell phone, was totally independent. While she was there she was sedated all the time even by nursing aides in Geriatric. We had continually ask when we visited if she was being sedated because we could open her eyes and her pupils were nearly as small as a pen point. And the answer was no.. it was obvious it was a lie. One day during a meeting with the head RN with my father, brother and myself. Questioning her care in the visiting room a nurse aide came up the hall and you could hear the sound of a glove popping and a patient yelling out she made the comment to the nurse I need your medical key to take care of this mess.. she spots us and the nurse says as she waved her hand not now... it was obvious what was trulely going on.. we had to get help from the state representative for her to have her moved on over to Mary Starke Harper.. they had been holding on to her with the excuse that they were trying to get her medication fixed before sending her there... You can fix people medications when they are sedated and not knowing the effect it was having on them.. she lost lots of weight, she was no longer able to use a phone, dress herself, feed herself, drink for herself, no knowledge of reality to TV. Could not walk, roll over or anything after being there.. she tried at Mary Starke to feed herself but it was like a child just learning to eat and drink. Not only was she bipolar with physic features but was in the beginnings of Dementia, and anyone who know you don't want to sedate or put a patient under for surgeries unless it's an emergency situation and hers was not!!!! She was bed redden the rest of her life and had to have someone care totally for her... bless her soul God showed complete healing for her at my home September 2020. I have three animals and would not take them there or recommend this hospital in Jasper to anyone for the elderly... their Geriatric should be shut down!!! Don't send your elderly there!!!!
If I could give them a zero I would. No help. 2 different times this happened. Laid there suffering from dehydration. After 2 hrs brought bag in but never put IV in or hooked it up. Never saw doctor though was shaking and spasming from severe dehydration after a surgery.demanded 2nd time to see doctor after being told discharging with no diagnosis. 45 min later doctor came in. Witness me having spasms like seizures and told me nothing he could tell me to make appt with my doctor for diagnosis. Tech came in to wheel me out. Said did you see the sign it says emergency room. If your dying we can stabilize and send you somewhere to save your life. That's all we can do. We don't diagnose any issues unless life threatening. You got the best care we have resources to give. I said so basically your a field hospital. Heart attack or bleeding out can stabilize to get you to real hospital. She said yes. Paid $150 for no help and to be treated like a junkie. It's a joke. Talking to other staff advised to not take my dog there they go to ER in Winfield or Birmingham. Will never be back to this ER. Ceiling also was falling down in the room. Not sanitary.never saw anyone wash hands. Staff and doctors didn't care.had to go to primary for diagnosis and get IV of fluids to help. Was released both times to suffer until can get to primary on Monday.
My experience on the last 3 times I have had to go to the ER is this,... If you have to go and can wait until after say 7pm that is when you are going to get the better nurses and doctors. The 2 times I went in the AM, the 1st time I discharged myself because I refused to be a human pin cushion, nor was I willing to boost a nurses bad phlobotomy skills by trying to get an impossible iv stick on someone whom is extremely dehydrated and already having extreme pain due to a skin abcess, just so they can go get bragging rights. The 2nd time I went in the AM the doctor and nurse that treated me had "pretend" compassion. It wasn't what I felt as being a true "I really am concerned for you! What can I do to help you?" It was more of let me get my orders done so I can do something else. I seen the doctor 1x that was it, my nurse was nice but wasn't really interested, he was there to "get it done" that's what I got from him. When he put some meds in my IV I new that IV didn't feel right, I've had SEVERAL IVs in my time and that one was just extremely painful. When he put the meds in it he just pushed it, it was burning me and hurting me and he just said "oh yeah, your ok!" I took pictures of the IV just in case I was to have issues due to it. It was just as bad as the last time I went in the AM. The nurse that takes your info, came out with no mask on, staff was going back with no mask on, the charge nurse didn't even put my Info in, didn't do my stats or anything. She said kinda snotty that she just arrived... The time I went at night, They was AWESOME! NO COMPLAINTS!! The nurse and doctor cared, the Dr came and talked to me 3 times, the nurse was checking on me at least every 30-45 mins. Staff was actually working, it wasn't just me, I noticed them taking care of the other patients as well.. it wasn't a social ground or a dating meet and greet on the night shift, but it was like that when I went in the morning times.. so I suggest... Go after 7pm when shift change is done because you will get better care in my opinion.
my mom is the best she works there
Don't listen, About allergies. Went in for ingrown hair that became infected. Lanced and cleaned. Told them that I am allergic to the medical tape they brought in, to have nurse tell not to worry. It's a safe tape. My skin blistered and peeled due to the tape.
My mother was transported from this hospital to a nursing home by a private citizen. Mom told me how she hurt from being lifted by non professionals. I couldn't find my mom and the hospital told me her " granddaughter" had picked her up. I am the only living child, the eldest granddaughter lives out of state so you can imagine the emotional distress i suffered until I located mom. My mother's physical health has not been the same sine that day. So sad.
The Best Hospital I've ever had to be in. No one wants to be sick, and no one wants to be in pain, And if you have ever been in a Hospital and had a Bad Experience, it makes you very uneasy to go back to ANY Hospital, I had Total Knee Replacement Surgery and Walker Brookwood Baptist, Orthopedic Team they were second to none. All the nurses, physical therpest, patient care technician's were wonderful, This Orthopedic Floor of the hospital Absolutely knew what they were doing, And you could tell by their actions and attitude that they took pride in what they do, and they enjoyed coming to work, Thank You Brookwood Baptist Hospital-Walker For The Excelent Care You Gave To Me! No need to drive to Birmingham Hospitals when we have such a fantastic Group Of Medical Professionals at Brookwood Baptist- Walker floorhospitahospital his
The er room they took me too was still dirty and had a blood stained sheet on the bed and the cleaning lady barely wiped it off and changed the sheet. The doctors in the er are rude and incompetent but other than that not a bad place.
I had to wait two hours for my granny's physical therapy to even begin and then going to change my nephew in a bathroom with NO CHANGING TABLE. Seriously put them in the bathrooms!
I was admitted to the Walker Baptist hospital on 8/28/21. The night of 8/29/21 there was a male nurse named Adam young lady comes in and later she asked for a blanket I was trying to be nice I let Adam know there was some blankets there in the chair. He in return was really ugly towards me very disrespectful towards me just because I was just being nice. Adam didn't even come back to apologize to me. He was rude about how he said it. Next time I need help I'll go back there but I want say a word to nobody. I want even bother about trying to be helpful towards the workers there again. ???????????? Sad how people should be there to help people but instead they are there to be ugly to the patients. Adam should be fired for the disrespect he shown to me on the night of 8/29/21
Good place to go
I am from GA I had a heart attack while in Jasper they took me to Walker Baptist I refused the vent and admitted things I wasn't proud of one of the er nurses (so sorry I don't have y'alls names) said don't look that way we are not your judge anyway she was GREAT the ER staff surely saved my life ! I was 7 hours from home and scared to death and was very close to death when I got there. They sent me to ICU where I had good nurses Ms triva, Ms Jada, Ms Sherry and Ms Connie (the talker thank God for her lol) and more were also very good to me. Dr.Ben Parrish was sent in to see me I was sure we had gotten off to a bad start but the next day he came in and I couldn't have found a better doctor, this doctor took the the time to call and be sure I made it back to GA OK and that I could afford the medicine he had given me, I have NEVER gotten that kind of treatment at home! Ms Becca, Jose Delgado and more were working the floor I was on, the bottom line is they were so good to me and I was so far from home. I'm thankful to all of them for what they did and the way I was treated.. And nobody likes their little hospital until they really need it and I needed Walker Baptist and they were there in full force, again thank you all and God bless! PS.. The lady that done my echocardiogram was the bomb!
