My daughter spent Oct-Dec 2018 on 9Y and I stayed with her. .......best nursing staff ever. They were so caring and so compassionate right down to the care staff. I am so happy her final days were spend there.

Poor service, waited for 3 hours and didn’t receive any help. I had to leave because I was too frustrated, long wait times that don’t seem to end.

Shakir Siddiqi

Very effecient and courteous, friendly staff.

If you care about your family members, don't bring them here. The staff gossip about the people in their care, neglect the people In their care and DO NOT CARE about the people that have to LIVE here. This place is depressing and the health care providers sure do seem to fit in with the environment. The staff members who do this shouldn't have their job. Why pick a job that you obviously hate? The health care providers here never had the passion to care for people in the first place. You can have a better experience with an employee at Safeway than some of the staff members working here.

My grandfather has had excellent care and the facility is doing their best to curb the covid outbreak. The nurses are always super friendly and willing to answer any questions I have. I just wish there was more stimulation for the residents but during this pandemic it's not exactly feasible.

Although not all staff should shoulder the blame but it is clearly apparent that there is a culture of lack of responsibility that likely stems from leadership. We've had such a poor experience that we decided to move our family member to another facility.

This is a place to avoid at all costs. The University Hospital essentially forced the transfer of my mother to The Edmonton General after hip replacement surgery, citing”COVID-19 circumstances refuted the usual three choices of facilities”. My mom was given opioids that she didn’t need and which caused her to slur her words and have difficulty staying awake during our outdoor visits. She was given the drug for nearly two months before I discovered this fact and asked for the opioid to be discontinued. During our next visit she was awake and did not slur her words. Her room was furnished with an old hospital bed and grey blankets. It looked like a 1940’s army barracks. The only colour in the room was provided by the pink window curtains. I wanted to take a colourful quilt for her bed but after observing that all her clothes were ruined by washing whites and dark coloured jeans together I decided that a quilt would soon suffer the same fate. She contracted Covid-19 and we were assured that we would be notified if there was a negative change in her condition. In the event that her life was ending we would be allowed to visit her despite the lockdown. On the last day of her life my calls were not answered and the staff did not have the basic decency to call when her condition began to deteriorate. We lost the opportunity to say our goodbyes and she died, alone, in that horrible room. I received a call just after midnight with a cheerful voice saying “ good morning, your mother has passed away and you need to remove the body in the next four hours”. I do not blame the care facility for her death but their negligence in not calling when her condition was deteriorating is unforgivable. There was time for us to reach the facility and be with her as she passed. The final insult occurred when the doctor recorded her death as the next day despite the fact the staff found her unresponsive at 11:20 PM. I had tried persistently to have her transferred to another institution and now it’s too late.

9Y Staff was exception to my Mother in her last days. I could not ask for more. They were personable and caring. My mother called them her friends, and shes not always easy to get along with. My father came to visit with my mother on extended visits and he has dementia. The staff was very patient even with him being there. I can not thank them enough for everything they did for my family.

I called this morning at 8:30 am, got transferred to the STI clinic because I asked, a lady picked up the phone who refused to give me her name. She told me as soon as I asked about booking an appointment she told me to go else where. I specifically called that clinic to get seen there for a reason and she told me to go to a walk in clinic? Who does that, why would I call the STI clinic if I wanted to go somewhere else, I called twice to book an appointment and she hung up on me twice and I was being polite to her and did not get that same service back, I honestly hope she learns how to treat people with respect. This is a good clinic I been going here for years. Please hire people who want to be there thanks.

My sister who attends dialysis 3 times a week needs assistance with her oxygen tank. Staff usually isn’t around to assist her or say they are too busy to help her. She doesn’t have the strength to shut off and open the tank to get her oxygen. By the time she arrives home she can’t breath and passes out from lack of oxygen. Why isn’t the staff educated to assist patients who require help. Something has to be done soon.

My mom spent less then a month here before she passed. The nurses and staff in 9Y were absolutely amazing. Our family loved how they spoke to mom, like she was a human, not just a patient In their care. They treated not only mom great but everyone who visited her as well. Everyone had positive Interactions with the staff. After having horrible expirences at the U of A, this place was a breath of fresh air and we are happy mom was well taken care of right to the end. Would highly recommend the General for thoes looking for a safe place for a loved one.

I am been here since November 6, 2019 it is now January 2020. Soon I will be moving on either to GLENROSE or HOME for further rehabilitation. I am an amputee on the 6Y unit. The staff here are top notch caring people. The therapists and the nurses and all others are helpful, patient and kind. God bless you all!

The worst place to work in Edmonton. I got a chance to work as comfort care aid employed by Manpower I realized that there's poor management and administration in the facility. But the staffs are nice and most of them worked in the facility for more than 25 years without any promotion and pay increase. I will not recommend any one to work in the facility specially in 9Y unit.
