torture chamber
Phenomenal programs and specialists. Large focus on research to further the understanding and treatment of mental health related conditions. Excellent centre.
I love coming here. Paying for parking is a pain but that's any hospital. The facility is beautiful and as someone who is there for the mental health department having a nice facility adds to a calming environment. I've been coming here since it opened and was even at the old building before this one. Staff have always been kind and helpful. My psychologist and any psychiatrist I've had here have been professional and understanding. My ability to deal with my mental health issues today wouldn't be the same without St.Joes. They only lose a star because sometimes the receptionist forgets to email my Dr that I'm there.
Why on earth is there no option to pay parking ticket at parking lot. Had to spend a good 15 mints trying to figure out how to get out of this place. Suppose to make it easier for everyone not harder
People should be concerned with situation around this Mental Health Hospital, second dangerous escapee in less than two weeks. Its located right beside Mohawk College, and who knows what can happen next time ((
Got a new experience in the vacant house which is in the back of the hospital building. Best site I’ve ever worked. ????????
Nice building very busy but the parking situation could have been better thought out. All of the staff I have dealt with have been very nice mostly business like.
They put "me" in a room for 2 days Wrote a form 1 Then after the two days the same people said it was invalid On a form 1 you do not have rights No rights advice No lawyer Is that right?
So far my experience with the Bariatric department has been disorganized, not particularly friendly and a nurse who probably shouldn't be in bariatrics since she obviously thought people who are overweight are less than.....the hospital is nice, new and clean though so that's why I gave it 3 stars otherwise I would have given one....it's a shame the people who work there don't match the decor and message that the hospital conveys as you are waking around you feel like they must really care about people...that is until you are someone looking for care, then you realize the decor doesn't reflect reality.
Went in for pre op interview. Competent and mostly friendly people, fantastic new building with inviting atmosphere. Lots of seats in the spacious open concept waiting area. Clean facility, except one toilet area off main lobby had graffiti and broken plumbing fixture (s). Tim Horton's with regular pricing right in the lobby. Limited expen$ive parking. Pay only by credit card (CC) when leaving lot, pay by CC or cash at machine in lobby. Got stuck trying to leave the lot as I wanted to pay by debit, which neither machine accepts. Used the intercom buzzer at the lot, an attendant answered promptly and provided accurate advice on how to pay by cash in the lobby.
Great new building, amazing staff but parking? Yeah right!
The volunteer at the main level Mr. Peter proved to be a wonderful, efficient and dedicated person. He did his all out efforts to locate the person I was looking for and requested that staff member of the hospital to come down to sort out the purpose of my visit. The staff member whose name I don't remember right now turned out to be very patient and polite person and helped me in a very courteous and professional way. Thanks to them to every one else in St Jose Healthcare System.
Extremely negligent processes are carried out by a few of the mental health/crisis programs at this campus specifically. They simply remove you from waitlists at their whim, not notifying you of that action. Their intakes are done sometimes years in advance, which only serves to retraumatize a person, but are then repeated as you come closer to the day, and then are admitted. If you are removed from a waitlist, and have completed an intake ( 90 minute session) you then have to go back to your family doctor and start the entire process from scratch.. The sensitivity, communication and overall process is lacking. Our system needs help, so we can in turn help some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We can do better.
They do not care. They don't return calls for people trying to reach out and help themselves to become better. When you send in your application, they will sit on it until a year passes which means you have to go through the hassle of sending in all your stuff again. And so help you God if your physician is in another city. This place causes more problems than they fix. I can only imagine how many lives were threatened or loss due to the incompetence of their staff.
Miss diagnose.
Well maintained, neat and clean. I enjoyed the waiting lounge with free wifi and magazines to read.
ANYONE GOING THROUGH THE BARIATRICS PROGRAM AT ST JOES PLEASE MESSAGE ME FOR SUPPORT DETAILS OR PLEASE REQUEST TO JOIN THE FB PAGE "RENEW YOU WITH WLS"
Beautiful modern revamp of this health care center, thanks to the generous Juravinski family.
Well organized hospital Hamilton excellent customer service representative, nurses specialist doctor, for all anxiety paciants recovery process in there successful lifestyle.
Had just accompanied my 80+ mum to the campus for vaccine; everything is well organized and all staff members are super friendly and nice. Bravo and Thank You ALL !!!
Beautiful new building on West 5th. A health care facility that Hamilton can certainly be proud of. Great parking (of course you have to pay)and very easy to get to.
St.Joe's has seriously gone downhill. Just showed up for my booster. I have a rare condition that will only allow 1 type of vaccine. All else will hospitalize me or worse, I was told I could only receive the incompatible vaccine as I'm over 29. This is the second time St.Joe's has tried to mess with my health, second negative review. Get your stuff together, St.Joe's. You used to be better and those of us that have rare conditions(SED-C) do not fit into your little boxes that normal people fit into. Pretty sad that Shoppers drug mart does a better job at listening to patients than you.
Great modern energy saving architecture
The inpatient for waterfall 2 was tedious and felt like a mockery. They lacked communication between doctors, nurses, pharmacy and patients. The doctor came in late and left early even though he made those appointments (I showed up 20 minutes early and he acknowledged I was ready). It seems that misdiagnosis are a common problem especially when my partner got confirmation from 2 doctors beforehand that she had something, and now they say that they medical opinion she doesn't have that diagnosis. They will manipulate the illness of people to keep them longer which causes others to hide their symptoms and any thoughts away from these doctors, cause they are treated like they are caged and mistreated. The lack of efforts with these doctors are extremely dangerous. Someone may have 15 years experience, but they don't act like they do. If you need help go to your family doctor and seek possible therapy as well as professional help besides west 5th. This experience is why our doctors need better and more professional training and proper communication. 15/100 stop the fear tactics and have more professional training and proper communication
Great care here
mentally abusive
Excellent facility
Nice building but needs more cleaning staff, elevators are filthy, discusting to see spit on elevator walls and cups with spilt liquid and paper on floors.
Wonderful facility to meet and care for the mental health needs of our community
One of the best hospitals you can manuever around. Never long wait times to see specialists. Rooms large
This is a current convenient location for COVID vaccine shots.
I went here for all three of my covid vaccines. The staff are all very helpful and kind. Circumstances are not ideal as we are all in a pandemic but coming here was streamlined and efficient. High five and five stars to all Health Care staff. You guys really are making a difference so thank you.
Incredible building. Sunny, spacious. Great OT's in community psychology. Yummy food at the bistro. Security and exits could be better.
Staff were friendly and the new building design is great. However, parking is even costlier than at mcmaster and it seems like appointments are scheduled to take up enough time to max out parking. Location is out of the way for pre-op when actual service's will be delivered downtown.
Nice and big
Dank place
They have out Place facilities for elderly this is also a very large psychiatric hospital
Anyone who volunteers here or donates to this hospital must be out of their damn mind. I went here while I was suicidal. A nurse pulled my pants down in-front of some nursing students while I was having a mental breakdown. I was sleep deprived ontop of being suicidal. They forced me to sleep in seclusion for four days and wrote disturbing things on the wall to worsen my mental state. They kept the light on in my room (a room that had no toilet or toilet paper) and a security guard even assaulted me while I was being passive. A doctor by the name of Christina marie adam informed me that all of this mistreatment was my fault. The more I talk about this the more they are scared (they constantly delete my comments due to fear of the truth about them coming out) Please find another charity to volunteer to or donate to. This place isn't worth your time or money and make sure to never go here for mental help because these people are unequipped to deal with the mentally ill. Unfortunately after much research on west 5th, I know I'm not the only one with a story line this. Look into it yourself. Google Dr.Adams, google other patients stories and find out the truth yourself. If anyone wants links to their stories, I would be
Absolute worst doctors that can't diagnose anything. They experiment on people with pills, and tell you their is no withdrawals even if your hands shake after the medications wares off. I mean how can you diagnose a drugged person, but they do this exact thing. Never inform psychiatric patients about health legal advisors, simply just give them a sheet to read, which nobody does. When someone realizes their rights on form 1 they will transfer hospitals to sign form 3. Never answer help button, someone die of a heart attack waiting for the nurses while they are playing "not me". Just leaving an honest review of what I've seen.
I had my first appointment at the Diabetes Eye Clinc and was amazed at the wonderful service. Firstly, i slept in through my appointment, but the staff graciously made the room for the testing in the afternoon. Amanda and Myrna are wondeful staff members who did the testing, and the reception staff was lovely, making sure that i had a copy of my next appointment printed out, to make it easier to make sure I made it on time. My biggest hope is that continue to be as lucky with other staff in the Diabetes Clinc. I never thought i could look forward to Diabetes Care, but these staff today give me new HOPE. Thanks. Mary A
We were up at the West 5th campus today to get our shot, and it was run like a well oiled machine! I was so impressed from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. Staff was amazing, no waiting (except after) and they still had the 15 min recovery room running like a dream! Kudo's to all that are apart of it, and they even validate your parking! High Five to the entire team!!!
I was so impressed today with the safety precautions the staff were taking to screen for COVID-19. Additionally, they were all very kind and pleasant in explaining the procedures. Great experience!
Had a MRI done tonight, staff were amazing and friendly. Once I got home I realized that I had forgotten a chain with my children's baby rings that has never come off my neck unless i I was surgery. I called Diagnostic Imaging once I realized, and left a message, not expecting a call back tonight. Not only did I get a call 5 mins later, the technician waited for me to drive back and put the chain back around my neck for me. I had issues taking it off earlier. I am so absolutely greatful.
Refuses to treat patients with borderline even after 15 admissions to a different hospital they simply state it’s not a bad enough for long term treatment
Rather be at memorial at Trafalgar but this place is second to non.
Went today for my vacation. Very impressed with the organization in this process and staff were extremely pleasant! Good job well done. ????
Dirty , smelly and very unsupervised units. I have to visit a friend there and it's disgusting, I very rarely see a nurse or someone in authority. Lack of information, supervision, communication and security. They never check bags when you go in. Gloomy and the smell of dirty diapers and patients that need to shower are overwhelming at times. Staff is unfriendly and seem not to really care. ...very lazy! Absolutely a nightmare for visitors and patients. I feel sorry for anyone that has to stay there, if you go in there with depression, it will only make it worst. Shame on the ppl that so called run it, I bet they sleep well at night.
It is so bad
Appreciable palliative care! Thankful
The covid vaccination clinic is extremely well organized. The staff is super friendly and efficient. The whole experience took less than half an hour.
The are excellent at been rude, careless and unethical ST JOSEPHS in hamilton are probably one of the worse hospitals in all Ontario. The staff is always madly angry like if they hate their lifes and the people they cross with. I was abused, bully and mistreated several times, their security staff used brutal force over me and hit me in the balls when I refuse to take a unknown medication. Tbh it's kind of disappointing because there is nothing people can really do about it... never go To PES, trust me you will regret it because once you get inside that door, you become nothing, you have less rigths than animals, they will make you sleep in dirty mattresses on the floor, they won't give you any food for hours and the nurses will treat you with disrespect and make you feel powerless.
The staff is very friendly. The washrooms and elevators were not clean, not a good sign for a hospital.
Wish people would stop commenting on the new furniture and give review of what the health care is like. My son who has a real cardiac issue just got turned out as they said he was fine. Has anyone been discharged prematurely and found out they had life threatening situation?? I am worried.
I work here
My family Dr. had referred me to the Rapid assessment clinic that is supposed to be a fast track assessment program to treat people at high risk of harm to themselves . First it took me approx 2 1/2 months to get in even though the whole idea of the clinic is to assess people with long complex addiction and mental harm issues that are in urgent need of care . After struggling for the time waiting for the appt i arrived at the clinic at the scheduled time i was given only to be told it was actually an hour earlier so it was cancelled then rescheduled for a month later . This time the nurse did the intake for the first half but the second half assessment with the dr was again rescheduled due to them not being there . Weeks later I got into see the Dr to be assessed and after 1/2 hour the Dr believed it would be more effective to be seen at the Mood disorder clinic . This meant another month wait and when I received a reminder call the day before the appt. where the receptionist called me with the time that she then thought it was earlier but couldnt seem to find the earlier time . Then instead of mentioning anything about calling back to clear it up she then tells me to be there for the first time she wasnt sure about . Since i had lost any paper or card with it on I had to call them to confirm the right time and yep it was 90 mins earlier that if i hadn't called would have meant another cancellation meaning a longer wait that is already at 4-5 months from the original referral to be seen urgently as possible . You cant make this stuff up and i actually kept the message from the confused receptionist because I didnt think anyone would believe me .Twice I sent a complaint to their online site .The first one I never received a call back and only after my persistence did I talk to the supervisor in charge who was apologetic as well as assuring me it would be looked into to prevent it from happening again . As of today it's now almost 6 days since I sent the second complaint and still not heard anything back even though it says 2 business days for a reply . If I didnt have such an excellent family dr. monitoring me I could possibly have seriously harmed myself or worse . Yes I know there are shortages in the mental health system in Hamilton but that is no reason for such incompetance in what supposedly is a crisis intervention program. How many people are going to be lost between the cracks as a family member of mine had been only months earlier . There are definitely some serious communication issues through the hospital and it's obvious this isnt an isolated incident . From here on I would rather suffer then put my trust in them for help with mental health .
Nurses are uneducated and lazy. Can't draw blood. Don't keep patients updated on their status. Talk loudly and obnoxiously. Worst emergency rooms ever.
Good luck getting any help here. Not a fan, there are doctors that call, and when you call back no one knows who they are, staff doesn't communicate with each other, it has been a challenge to get any results, they give appointments disregarding that people actually have a life, work, go to school, live in another city, and if you ask for a different time, oh well they threaten to discharge you. It's sad that people having mental health problem get more stressed with this unprofessional treatment before and if ever getting any help.
Very friendly and helpful staff. As a parent that has tried to get help for her 18 yr old son for 2 years this place is a godsend.
Undergoing outpatient treatment for an ED. Fantastic, holistic program with wonderful facilitators. Great building with green space and lots of light ... great for MH. Food in the cafeteria is wonderful with lots of healthy options that are both tasty and reasonably priced. I wilp not hesitate to come back for treatment in future
Amazing staff, building is modern and brightly lit! There is even a medical museum definately worth checking out in there while you wait. Great place to get treated and die if need be! Would come again.
Very long wait times, inspite of having less patients in here due to covid. Horrible communication of processes, nobody explains to you why you’re waiting. Why set up an appointment when you’re not gonna keep to it???
I got my booster shot today and I have to say that I am always a bit nervous before getting the needle. The people were really nice and I want to say thank you to the doctor/nurse who started singing "you are my sunshine" to make me feel better. It was the first time I was laughing while getting a vaccine! Thank you so much!!
zero stars! an absolute nightmare and a colossal waste of time
I came here for about 17 weeks for CBT treatment for OCD from Mississauga. Although, I wasn't able to tackle every symptom of OCD, coming here was so worth it! I have more freedom with one of the symptoms that I struggled with greatly, and everyone here from the receptionist to the nurses and the health professionals who work here all made me feel like I belonged. I hated leaving the hospital after every therapy session, it felt like a second home to me.
Awesome staff. Great doctors! They all treated me with dignity and respect!
