Good service and caring nurses

I've been here over a year now and unable to get transferred to another facility. During my stay I've been subjected to verbal and physical abuse. The policy regarding food allergies is basically eat poison or starve. They call this "my choice." I've signed a DNR in hopes that the next infection this cesspool gives me will finish me off and am considering suicide versus a lifetime as a captive here.

I wish I never sent my loved one there, the care they received there was abuse. They’re terrible people and staff and they don’t deserve to be allowed near people let alone taking care of them.

My father is in palliative care. The nurses havnt bothered to learn and call him by the name he prefers. He asked for a drink and was told "we dont do that". He went there on Friday and STILL hasnt been bathed and changed!! May i add that my father is bed ridden. My father said he feels as if hes been put in the corner and forgetten about! If you have no compassion pick a new career! I am beyond disgusted.

I wish I could rate below 1 star! They don’t even deserve that much gold! My grandmother spent around 3 months in total here for rehab after a broken hip. Her first trip there they had her so over medicated that she couldn’t even tell you the date. They let her sit in unchanged depends. She went days without a shower. She was told they were only allowed to shower once a week by a nurse. She was on meds they couldn’t even provide explanations for why she was mysteriously on them under their care. Whatever cocktail it was gave her a bleeding stomach ulcer. She doesn’t even remember the first month being there! Trip 2 back after GGH they couldn’t get her out the door fast enough. I monitored her meds with having a medical background and questioned every nurse every time I was there. 8/10 times they still didn’t have a clue why she was on certain new meds. They rushed her therapy a long ultimately resulting in her falling and rebreaking her hip! I will FOREVER avoid sending family here or recommending this place to them!

Guelph is very fortunate to have such a wonderful place. My mother in-law and my dad has stayed and have received help from here and they've been nothing but wonderful.

Wonderful cafeteria with great salads, caring nursing staff, suburb housekeepers who work hard keeping St Joe's clean. Recreation staff lovely as well.

Was a patient for seven months recently. All the stars are for the staff, who are ridiculously over-worked as a result of provincial cuts to the hospital's operating budget. In spite of being run off their feet, the vast majority of the nurses care. Treated me like family. Anybody criticizing the staff at St. Joe's ought to redirect that outrage to the Premier's office. In some cases the patient to nurse ratios have nearly doubled. What do people expect?

A friend of mine is in this place because of an accident. I visit regularly and have never seen anything but good care and people that are caring for their patients. Others can say for they want, everyone has their own opinion.

My son does wee talk here. The staff is always very friendly and approachable. The sessions are always kept in small grouos. They take the time to ensure the child gets a chance to learn at their own pace. They also check jn again and again on the progress of the child. The assessments are easy to make appointments with as there is always good availlibility. My son has shown tons of progress due to the game based learning approach to learning to speak and announciate. Parents are kept a huge part of the process and as the biggest resource for their childs learning!
