We really enjoyed how works the medical staff at the hospital. They are true professionals.????My husband had a lot of pain and we went to the hospital. We waited in line for 5 minutes, then the nurse took us. Then, 5 minutes later, the doctor took him to inspection. Then, the surgery was done in a few hours. During the stay in the hospital husband received professional care and attention. Thank you very much for your work.)))

I WENT IN FOR KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY And I really had no idea on what it was going to be like, It was fabulous! everyone was helpful, pleasant, kind, professional. Most of all I had a very successful surgery and on top of it I had my own room and paid nothing for it. Internet and TV was only 13 $ a day that included first run on demand movies. But most of all except for when I first woke up from the surgery I was never in any pain and I am now walking without pain.

Pensez aux gens qui ont réellement besoin de services URGENT. Arrêt cardiorespiratoire, détresse respiratoire, bébés avec de la grande fièvre, des convulsions. Ils sont le centre receveur de la traumatologie, problèmes cardiaques. Donc posez-vous la question : êtes-vous capable de contacter un médecin, dans la semaine, dans les prochains 48h? Pensez-vous vous ramasser aux soins intensifs dans les minutes suivant votre arrivée? Non? Ben restez chez vous et prenez rdv au lieu d’engorger les urgences pour rien. Si vraiment vous pensez que c’est une urgence ou que le ER est votre seule option et bien ne chialez pas que l’attente est longue, c’est simplement que ce n’est pas classé urgent. Et pour ceux qui écrivent qu’en plus ils sont arrivés en ambulance: prendre l’ambulance n’est pas un go direct dans la salle du médecin, vous allez passer au triage et attendre de la même façon de vous auriez attendu en venant par vous même ou en taxi, seulement, vous aurez une facture de 350$ en prime! J’ai toujours eu un bon service, mais il est vrai que plusieurs infirmières ne sont plus à leur place... je n’ai jamais vu une infirmière aussi méchante que Marie-Ève, à l’urgence (je crois que c’est son nom..) Cette femme est probablement très malheureuse.. tellement méchante, rude, bête et insensible... un gros 0 cette femme.

I’ve had the misfortune to go multiple times, and once after having bad head trauma. They don’t care. And if you speak English, even worse. Just for the atrocious standard of care, this hospital should be shut down, and have a class action lawsuit against it from all the patients that have ever had such misfortune to go here. If you are unfortunate enough to go to the ER you might find that there is NEVER any parking available. But even worse the ER only has about 6 parking spots for people! You might as well suffer in peace at home, than ever come to this hospital, because you’ll be more likely to die from frustration, than from your issue.

It’s a shame the low rating this hospital has but it’s a reflection of how poor the health system is overall. I believe it will always be this way unless governments pour some more funds and incentives into the system to attract more people to the health care profession. Covid really exacerbated the issues. That said it is what it is and as difficult as it may be we need to have patience and empathy with the system and we will get through it. If people take care of themselves there won’t be any worries in having to rely on hospitals as much. ????????

I had appendicitis, they told me in had gastro and go home. Then, I had to have an appendectomy, the care and facility was atrocious and they lost the operation protocol report.

(Translated) I went there for gallstones and stayed overnight in the emergency room with highly contagious patients close to me who had not even been properly isolated (for lack of space on the floors, they had been placed there), patients who took turns using the phone without any disinfection, to be yelled at by the nurse, because I was trying somehow to go to bed while being connected to the drip and according to her, I wasn't paying attention! When I asked when I could see the specialist, I was ignored. I saw the doctor pass by and tried to call him and he barely answered me. Hygiene was poor and I was afraid of catching MRSA or any other infection, especially with patients so close to each other. The next day, I ended up demanding that I be discharged and that I be given an appointment for the procedure I needed and again, it was not made easy! As they were slow to remove the IV, I was going to take it out myself when the nurse finally deigned to take it off. I went back there during the week to have the calculation removed, and no more problems since that time. Very, very bad experience and in those moments you feel extremely alone and abandoned. You have to have a great strength of character to be heard and respected. (Original) J'y suis entrée pour des calculs biliaires et suis restée la nuit aux urgences avec des patients hautement contagieux proches de moi qui n'avaient même pas été isolés correctement (faute de place aux étages, ils avaient été placés là), des patients qui se servaient du téléphone à tour de rôle sans qu'il y ait de désinfection, à me faire engueuler par l'infirmière, car j'essayais tant bien que mal de me coucher tout en étant branchée à la perfusion et d'après elle, je ne faisais pas attention! Lorsque je demandais quand je pouvais voir le spécialiste, on m'ignorait. J'ai vu le médecin passer et j'ai essayé de l'appeler et il m'a à peine répondue. L'hygiène laissait à désirer et j'avais peur d'attraper le SARM ou toute autre infection, surtout avec les malades si proches l'un de l'autre. Le lendemain, j'ai fini par exiger qu'on me décharge et qu'on me donne rendez-vous pour la procédure dont j'avais besoin et là encore, on ne m'a pas facilité la tâche! Comme ils tardaient à m'enlever la perfusion, j'allais l'enlever moi-même quand l'infirmière a finalement daigné me l'enlever. J'y suis retournée dans la semaine pour faire enlever le calcul, et plus de problème depuis ce temps. Très très mauvaise expérience et dans ces moments-là, on se sent extrêmement seul et abandonné. Il faut avoir une grande force de caractère pour se faire entendre et respecter.

LITERALLY the worst hospital out there I cut my knee and was in so much pain, I almost fainted was feeling so bad, I had to wait over 12hours and no one did a thing, they just kept saying "we can't do much, you gotta wait" the nurse who saw my Injury said he will see me in an hour to let me know if I need to be stitched or glued, he never saw me. What kind of a hospital has one doctor?????? There so many people waiting and sick, but they don't seem to care about their patients at all. THEY CALL IT EMERGENCY BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED HELP. At the end I left without being seen or taking care of. I am really disappointed in the way they handled things.

I haven’t been to a lot of hospitals in my life, but I expected a lot better than what I got here. They took me in for a X-ray right away which I was happy with... Until I had to wait 6-7 hours in the waiting room with no information from anyone on my potentially broken ankle. Then when I went to the front desk to ask if I could get an update on what was happening or approx. how much longer the girl working just straight up said “i don’t know what you want”. So I ended up just leaving. Avoid this place. Terrible.

Is this even Canada??? How can a hospital like this even exist in Canada? I'm a resident of Ontario and visited a patient on Monday and i'm floored by this hospital. Not only is it VERY dirty, it's over crowded, the food is HORRENDOUS and it has no A/C?? How is this even possible? How can we allow the residents of Hull to be forced to use this third world country of a hospital??? If you are ever in Hull, PLEASE DETOUR AND AVOID AT ALL COST!!! I'm disgusted that our government even allows this hospital to be operational.

Last time i waited at the hospital, i had a head gash and i needed stitches. all they did for me was put a compress bandage on, and 15 HOURS LATER, nothing. my wound had shut, i was dizzy from blood loss, and THEY FORGOT ABOUT ME! i can say now that this place needs to be saved asap

When I was a child I had contracted a potentially lethal bacterial infection that was spreading through my arm. They made me wait 9hours before my parents opted to go to CHEO instead. As soon as I got to CHEO, the nurse recognized the type of infection and I was immediately put through to a doctor. I learned that if I had waited a few hours longer I would've lost my arm and potentially my life. Yesterday at 9pm, my mother was taken to Hull by an ambulance after falling down the stairs. It is now 3pm, and she still has not been treated and her external wounds are now too old to be stitched. Ambulances need to stop bringing people to this hospital. Seriously the worst hospital in a 600km radius.

Great attention on a Monday evening for a non-emergency. Waited maybe 10 minutes, was seen by friendly attentive staff who were happy to switch to English when they realised it would be easier for everyone. I had been avoiding this place due to the negative reviews, but the women who helped me yesterday were top notch.

Distorted my right knee. Hurt my left knee, hip, back and had 2 bumps on my head. Slipped on ice at my place. It's going to be a long recovery! I was scared to come to this hospital because of 2.2star. But don't listen to them. The staff where AMAZING I mean great! Being from the GTA. This place is freaking awesome! They took such great care of me and have been since. I'm there every 2 days now and all departments have been great. (Above and beyond) Thank you so much everyone at the Hull Hospital. After waiting for three hours in extreme pain, a medic walks into the emergency room and tells everyone that there's been a crash nearby and that we would all be waiting at least four hours more, suggesting we all go to a different hospital. The only decent service I've had from this hospital was severe emergency treatment when I got hit by a car. If you're not dying, don't go here.

Lost my father here. Wish I couldve brought him to any other hospital. He was dropped in his dying days by attendant & years before that orderly beat him when he stayed overnight. AVOID LIKE PLAGUE! I only hope they treated his body with respect before being transferred to funeral home. Death certificate didnt even have cause of death incomplete.

Doctors just don't seem to care about your health. My gastroenterologist was supposed to call me "urgently" because of major problems I experienced while waiting for some news. I had to go back to the emergency room were they basically let you die for hours and my problem is far from being solved, because everytime I meet with him, he doesn't know what I have and simply guess and prescribe me new meds that do nothing or make me worse. Also, my grandma got breast cancer and the day of her operation to get her breast removed, they gave her the wrong bracelet with another woman's name on it! Right before the surgery! If her husband wouldn't have been there with her god knows what they would have done to her ???? Don't go there seriously.

I think the extra hours, lack of personnel, and inadequate leadership shows significantly when you come to this hospital. Compassion is replaced by rudeness, empathy is replaced by employees just wanting to get it over with their shift. It is sad to see what healthcare was meant to be, being destroyed by bureaucrates. We really need to go back to basics here.

Family member got into an accident and was brought here by ambulance the line wasn't too long but still took 3-4 hours but that was expected because they were extremely thorough with him, doing a lot of tests to ensure proper care was given. Didn't have a problem not speaking French while here, everyone was very accommodating.

I went through this hospital's system. It was efficient, professional and friendly. There are good covid practices in place and great service. From the time I entered (where I was seen by Nurse Frederique within five minutes), saw a doctor (after a period of waiting in their well-ventilated and comfortable waiting room I saw Dr. Labrecque), and finally was wrapped up with Nurse Daniela, I was well attended. All of them were communicative, knowledgeable and efficient.

While I spoke french first, it is my 2nd language and the staff encouraged me to use english if I was more comfortable explaining my symptoms. The waiting room is less than desirable and could be improved by having some news or sports on the blank flat screen by the chairs. The wait time was longer than I hoped but less than I expected. But the 5-star part of the experience was Dr. Virginie Coulombe. She was patient with my French, was very professional and had great bedside manner. She ordered a blood test as a precaution and offered pain relief remedies for the acute pain. I wish my family could have her as a physician. Honestly the best treatment level I have received anywhere in Canada. The lab tech who did my blood draw was very good and I did not even feel the poke. Also very professional and courteous. While the hospital leaves something to be desired, I found my experience to be much like the 3 other provinces in which I have lived. (BC, AB, and ON) I hope that The Quebec government will get it's act together and start investing in front line services rather than more bureaucrats in Quebec City. I hope that if me or my family get sick again, that we will have Dr. Coulombe.

I called for help (screams of excruciating pain), to the other people in the room and the nurse refused to come and help me. I had to ask another person to call 911 to get help in the hospital emergency room, otherwise no one wanted to help me. When the nurse finally picked me up. She asked me questions that had no connection to my distress: - "What do you want, do you want to be given morphine? People who come here just for that we see them every day" - "do you have a place to stay or are you homeless" In short, I was treated by the hospital staff as a junkie and a homeless person. Without any consideration or digbitee. I am a citizen educate and I know my rights. I dare not imagine what they can do to the poorest people. It is inhuman. Comme de fait, j'ai tomber dans connaissance et je me suis vomi dessus encore, quand j'ai repris conscience, jetais tomber par dessus un chandail qui me bloquair la bouche et qui bloquait ma respiration. l'infirmière m'a dit que le médecin avait tout fait et que le médecin ne voulais plus me voir et elle a appeler le gardien de sécurité pour escorter de force en dehors de l'urgence dans la salle datente. .. à moitié nu, couvert de vomi. J'ai appeler à l'aide (cris de douleur atroce), aux autres personnes dans la salle et l'infirmière refusait de venir maider. J'ai du demander à un autre personne de téléphoner au 911 afin d'avoir de l'aide à l'urgence de l'hôpital sinon personne ne voulait me porter secours. Quand l'infirmière à finalement venu me chercher. Elle m'a poser des questions de façon qui avait aucun lien avec ma détresse: - "c'est quoi que tu veux, tu veux qu'on te donne de la morphine? Du monde qui vienne ici juste pour ça on en voit tous les jours " - "as tu une place ou rester ou tu es sans abris" Bref, j'ai été traiter par le personnel hospitalier comme un junkie et un sans abris. Dr. was very good but when an Anglophone dies in a QC hospital, the widow or family has to deal with the aftermath of sending English documents to USA, & often not accepted. The Dr. or staff should ask which language the family prefers medical paperwork to be signed etc., only if the person has an ENGLISH name where the family speaks English. Language should not be an issue ANYWHERE WE LIVE. English is the Universal Language & has been around a long time. Many of us were born in Quebec but raised in Ontario due to our parents businesses or jobs. The ruling in Ottawa is bilingualism by accepting and respecting the French & English languages. Quebec should do the same as well.

Emergency is mostly overwhelmed. They naturally treat real emergencies first, having gone in for a broken ankle, and then later a pulmonary embolism, I was rushed through, once you are in they take great care of you. Having gone in for a concussion early one evening, after waiting for 4 hours, as doctors work shifts were ending, the nurse informed me they would not see me till early morning as the doctor was too busy, so being diabetic, I just went back home and got a good night sleep. The concussion was real, and took about 6 weeks to get better. Brought my mom in for a broken nose, they took her right away and took great care of her. There is simply a shortage of doctors.

The doctors were quite good when dealing with my broken foot a few years ago, but unfortunately the triage section and other admin sections are a total disaster and this ended up with a 12-hour wait with much less urgent cases to pass before me even though they arrived in some cases well after me. Later on, one appointment was cancelled and only rescheduled several weeks after only once the hospital was called after apparently they forgot me completely about re-scheduling the appointment. They really need to review the entire triage process at the ER as well as the appointment process and until then I will try to avoid this place at all costs. The only reason I don't give one star is the doctors dealing with the injury and I would have given a zero for the triage and admin sections

I just got surgery to remove my gallbladder and the surgeon, Dr. tasavoli was amazing and the entire staff was great. Had a few hiccups the first few days but once Dr. Tasavoli stepped in, I was handled with care and professionalism.

This hospital and the one located in Gatineau are the two worst hospitals in the area, writing a review couldn't not explain the amount of dissatisfaction I have for this place. You will leave here with more problems that you showed up with. My personal experience was a 9 hour wait for an x-ray for my hip that never happened, I was told I could not eat but I could only drink. I had to leave because my situation wasn't taken seriously. That same day they mistreated an elderly couple, they wrote an article in the buletin. I went to Montfort hospital the next day and was seen in 30 minutes. My fathers experience: He was in a motorcycle accident and rushed to the emergency, after waiting 3 hours an intern noticed him and promptly moved him from the waiting room into another room, where he waited another hour an a half to see the doctor for surgery. They did not use a blood thinner after surgery to his broken foot, and they had screwed the bone back together in a way that it could swivel, which increased his bone healing time by 3 months, because the two pieces of bone could move against each other. The absence of a blood thinner after surgery caused my fathers blood to clot from his foot to his groin, a massive blood clot. After 11 months on blood thinners and dozens of appointments with a vane specialist and an artery specialist, orthopedist, looking at CT scans, my father never healed properly. These people lack professionalism, they are always rude to English speaking people, they misinterpret information and the specialists argue amongst each other. Do no bring your family here, this hospital needs a huge change. People that give good reviews either work there or have family who work there, no reasonable sensible person would give this place a good review.

We arrived at the hospital at 13:00. Waited until 20:00 when we finally got the nurse to give my friend the pain killer. It is 22:00 right now and still didn’t get any x-rays or doctor inspection. Just a pain killer. This is the worst hospital I know on this planet. I highly recommend you to go somewhere else no matter what your conditions are.

This hospital is a complete disgrace. I unfortunately found myself in emergency and was turned away after waiting 8 hours overnight. The nurse, after treating me like literal trash, insisted there was nothing they could do and encouraged me to go home. That morning my internal prosthetic was deemed infected by a doctor in Ottawa (Apple Tree) and I found myself back in emergency once again. This time around I was equipped with a Doctors note that read that my entire left leg had gone into sepsis and I was to be seen immediately. If it hadn’t been for that Apple Tree Doctor I could have lost my leg or my life. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. If I could give it a negative star rating I would.

J'ai eu le droit à une couverture et un plancher froid pour me coucher. Le confort y est luxurieux. Dans une chambre, si vous appeler une infirmière, elle viendra très vite, dans une bonne dizaine de minutes même si vous êtes en douleur. Nourriture infecte, très peu de place, un manque flagrant de communication entre les unités. Un plaisir à vivre!

I had the pleasure of having an MRI exam today at the hospital (Philips 1.5 Tesla equipment, contrast gadolinium) with an excellent service by a kind receptionist who gently assist me. The technical personnel was really professional and did a great job. My best recommendations to Valerie the imaging technologist since she performed her job with excellence. To the reader, I worked on medical imaging before and I have seen the protocol several times. Valerie was at the peak, a really kind person too! Triage staff has no empathy, the hospital it's self is grossly under staffed, the doctor make you feel rushed even though you spent more than half a day in waiting (1 doc after 10pm in emergency ward to see waiting in patients) and the wait in the emergency is beyond ridiculous! I had a friend with ptsd and psychoactive pharmaceuticals problems and had to be taken care of for a few weeks. She's doing fine now but she told me that her dog was killed by them because she stayed in the hospital for too long and they couldn't hold the dog in the facility any longer. Doctor only comes by once a day, and I have no phone. I have been waiting 3 days for some news from a doctor. They were asked to contact my wife's father 2 days ago, this morning they phoned me to ask if they could give him information about her, when I already told them to call days ago. We are on social assistance and her cash was stolen from her wallet by hospital staff over Christmas while she was in a delerious state. When I reported this to the head nurse, she falsely accused me of smoking in the bathroom. Neither one of us smoke. These people are thieves and do not take adequate measures to inform family of the patient's condition.

went in for a scheduled ultrasound appointment but still had to wait 40minutes. In the empty waiting room, the pain from my issue got really bad and i was visibly in need of help. The only person around was a worker there, but instead of calling for help he just rolled his eyes at me and kept picking up the laundry from the rooms. In the end, the ultrasound lasted 2 minutes, the doctor didn’t even talk to me, and from what i was told the procedure was supposed to be on the phone, it wasnt at all that and i didn’t get everything i was supposed to get done.

If you have a choice do not go to the ER here. I went to the ER after calling 811 and being told to go the hospital ASAP. The triage nurse I got was dismissive of my symptoms (the exact same ones I told 811) didn’t listen to half of what I said, she was very rude and then decided to just send me to an outpatient clinic the next day. I was given a copy of the ER notes where she failed to list symptoms, as well as not properly indicate those she did. When I tried to ask why she was sending me to a clinic instead she simply stated she was going me a favour and sent me out the door. One of the few test she did run in triage indicated that one things was very high though she failed to ask any questions regarding this. The woman at registration was no better, I tried explaining I was concerned they wouldn’t let me see a doctor as I could see the a paper copy of the ER notes and explained the nurse hadn’t written down many details and that those that were there weren’t properly indicated, but she refused to listen and simply went ahead with booking and appointment.

I've had the misfortune of having to visit the Hull Hospital more than once. While the doctors/surgeons I've met are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable the support staff are the complete flip side. DO NOT Expect to receive any information/directions/help in English. Even though Hull is slight minutes from Ottawa you will not find help in English. It's frowned upon and you can expect to be scowled at and have eyes rolled for even muttering "Hi!". There is zero bilingual signage, so good luck if you can't even read basic French.

I understand why this is rated the worst hospital in Canada. had an asthma attack and couldnt breathe, took me one hour to see someone and they tell me I didnt need an oxygen mask (which helps my lungs everytime). i legit couldnt breathe and thought i was going to die. The consulting doctor in the emergency transferred my son to the consulting specialist at the Gatineau hospital-outpatient clinic. Hier, j' ai accompagné mon fils à l' urgence vers 6 h du matin et j' ai pu constaté une très grande amélioration.. J' ai été impressionnée de voir comment le personnel à l' accueil était très gentil et accueillant. Ils étaient prêts à orienter les clients/patients , cela est très important pour diminuer le stress des malades. Le médecin consultant à l' urgence a transféré mon fils au médecin spécialiste en consultation à l' hôpital de Gatineau-clinique externe. Même chose à l' hôpital de Gatineau, le service était aussi impeccable. Bonne continuation.

They are incompetent, lack compassion and this has been this way for the past 50 years that I know of. For the few doctors and few nurses that are the exception, the risk of getting appropriate medical attention is slim and far too risky. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. I'd go see my vet before going to that hospital. I'm not being nasty - this is the God forsaken TRUTH. This hospital should be shut down. I've lived in this area my whole life and know far too many victims that have experienced this nightmare. Whoever thinks this is a good hospital doesn't have a clue and MAYBE just got lucky. How worrisome is that?

The busy staff cared about their patients and worked professionally all the time. I particularly liked seeing 5 or 6 different people from very different origins working together (a great model of integration into the workplace!). Once your admitted in the hospital you get excellent treatment. Its the triage staff that caused me to give the hospital a one star. To them you are just a number. They have no bed side manor and couldn't care less if you stayed or left. We chose to leave after 4 hours of waiting. All the nurse said on our way out, after we asked for my wife's hospital card was good luck. We don't need luck, we need a hospital that runs like a hospital, that treats you like a patient, not like cattle.

Service at this hospital is absolutely horrible. It is clear that patients don't matter at this hospital. With 6 to 7 hour wait times you are better served to drive to Montreal for 2 to 3 hour wait times at the Jewish General or St Mary's. Better yet forget Quebec, move to Ontario. Quebecers pay the highest taxes for some of the worst health care and crumbling infrastructure in the industrialized world.

I cannot believe how much disgust I can have for a Hospital I've never stepped foot in. My Father had died of a heart attack on the 3rd of January and Paramedics had brought him here. The paramedic took my Fathers entire wallet for his information (As to why he wouldn't just take the necessary cards from his wallet and leave the wallet behind is beyond me)... Upon calling the Hospital about his wallet the security was rude and wasn't even sure where it was. It was as if I was causing an inconvenience to him... It somehow ended up going with his body to the cremation funeral home. The funeral home was shocked at the level of negligence. When I got his wallet back, they just tossed all his cards all loosely in the wallet in a big mess. No care or respect given in any way. I know my Father would always have a certain amount of cash on him, and his wallet had zero cash in it when I got it back...It is truly disgusting a place called a "Hospital" is this unprofessional. They have no protocol and etiquette on how to handle belongings of the deceased. It's very difficult to grieve a loss when a place like this creates nothing but anger.

This emergency department was filthy, vomit on the waiting room floor for over 2 hours, people had been lied to about the waiting time as we were.Only one doctor available for the entire emergency department. We were told on 3 separate occasions that we were next to see a doctor after an 8 hour wait, only to be shuttled into a little room and then told we wouldn't be seen until the next morning. This hospital should be shut down. Do not go there, people were in tears with pain after waiting for over 16 hours. Inhuman level of service for our tax dollars.. This is an embarrassment to the Quebec medical system.

Brought my mother here a few years ago. She had severe bronchitis and was put into a solitary room. I waited with her. We asked the staff to get her some advil or tylenol for the pain white waiting to see a Doctor. 3 or 4 nurses said they would come and give her some but never did. I went and asked at the desk for some information. There reply was: If your so worried about your mother, maybe you should stay and look after her yourself. Worst hospital ever. Went there several times with my girlfriend for a recurring illness they still have no idea what it is. Dr Ayoub is the worst ever. Doesn't care about his patients and even decided to make my girlfriend feel bad for "wasting his time" for a scan. Bring told by the nurse that it's a "busy Monday" after asking how long it would take before seeing someone when there was 2 people at the emergency. You could probably get better results off googling than waiting hours in that place. Another reason, sister goes there several times before of horrible back pains to the point she could not move anymore and all they would do is prescribe pain killers. She literally had to threaten to take matters in her own hands before she was taken seriously and they actually did something only to find out she had a fractured vertebrae in the lower back. Now she had to live the rest of her life with loss of feeling in her leg but they don't care. Honestly, I wouldn't go there even if my life depended on it. Beware.

Hull Hospital is atrocious. My husband had a heart attack at home and was brought there where he died October 8th at the age of 33. When I got there after bringing our 13 month old to her grandparents quickly they had the doctor come talk to me and he was so unprofessional. He sat there legs open looking very casual and decided to give me a long winded "timeline" of what happened there instead of telling me he had passed away. I had to interrupt and ask if he was alive to which he told me he was not. When I started crying he got up quickly and said he had to go and that we can get a nurse to get him later. It was the most unprofessional thing I've ever witnessed. Then on top of that my father in law called to find out more information and they couldn't find his body! Then someone called him back and said they had found him. Then he asked if we could get his belongings (cell phone, chain etc) to which they said they couldn't find them and that they didn't have them. Also when my father in law finally got to talk to the horrible doctor about what happened he said it was "natural cause" and that if we wanted an autopsy it would cost upwards of 10,000. How does a 33 year old man suddenly die of a heart attack and you rule it natural without investigating what could have caused it. We are horrified with how this whole thing happened.

I was in the Hull Hospital for major surgery. I found the staff actually very friendly and accommodating, even though I struggle with French. I think perhaps the hospital is trying to improve its image, but my experience was very positive. I commend the staff at the hospital because to me, there must be a concerted effort for good service. That to say, I think what many people are commenting on is a reflection of demand far exceeding resources. But I believe there must have been efforts to improve services based on what is available

EDIT 23/07/2020: I had a telephone appointment for today at 3:10pm to speak with a specialist about a chronic condition I need help with again. 3:10pm passed, so I phoned the front desk and got transferred to another number, who hung up on me. I phoned back at the front desk, was then put on hold, and said I was on the list so I will be phoned today. 4:30pm came and no call. So I had to physically go to the hospital to try and sort this out. I was told to go to the external clinic down the hall. It was closing, so I was greeted there with a look of irritation. I told them I had an appointment today and was never contacted. After five or more minutes of searching for my file, it was on the wrong plastic cart with a bunch of other files. So I assume I was not contacted because my file was on the wrong cart. The person who was looking for my file said it was a mystery but go to the emergency ward if my health changes. I am sure I am definitely not the first person this has happened to. No service provided for my health so I wish I could give 0/5. My father went here three times over the last month with worsening abdominal pain and progressive inability to eat anything. Each time, the doctor was not able to diagnose the problem, prescribed totally irrelevant medications, and only ordered a CT scan for September 7th (it was August 1st) and a gastroscopy within a month (he can't eat at all so how can we wait a month). We went to the Ottawa General Hospital and the intelligent doctor there immediately saw the urgency of the matter and diagnosed adrenal tumours with involved lymph nodes with one simple CT scan. Talk about a dysfunctional medical system; we're all relying on a system that can't even diagnose potentially serious cancer in time. This province needs to get its act together. Note: I went in to see a nurse here due to chest pains around the heart, and he refused to serve me in English (he said in French that we're going to be here for a long time unless I speak French, at which time he called over a SECRETARY to translate for him. You can't have an employee who cannot function in the capacity of his job).

I have just had hip replacement surgery a the Hull Hospital (April 2016) It was a well organized and very professionally run experience for me from start to finish. The wait times for appointments were well managed by the number system, nurses and a volunteer. I had a great pre surgery class taught in English for my group. I met my surgical nurse and anesthetist in advance and all questions were answered. I tried to speak bilingually but everyone gave me my materials in English and explanations in English. What a kind effort! The only exception was the Head nurse that discharged me. She spoke quickly and in French. But I felt I could have slowed her down and asked for English discharge materials and she would have been helpful. I just wanted to go home! All in all, Dr. Cory Richards is an excellent surgeon. I am up and moving well after just a couple of weeks and he obviously inspires his team to work well and seamlessly. I highly recommend this medical group at this hospital (Anglais ou Francais) for hip replacement surgery. Cynthia

Emergency: I waited 12 hours to be seen by a doctor. The nurses in the emergency room are the most rude I have ever met. They are totally lacking in compassion and are completely disinterested in their work. The doctor, surprisingly, had good contact with the patients. Follow-up visits were adequate. Outpatient procedure: When I woke up, the doctor did not visit me for a post-procedure report and I did not receive any written documents. The nurses refused to provide me with any documents. So I was kept in the dark for weeks as to what the doctor might have found, if the procedure was successful, what to watch out for after the procedure. And to top it off, the nurses didn't confirm with me how I was going to get home, they literally told me to grab my things and leave the hospital. A terrible experience. In addition, the staff are openly racist. But hey, the first 2 hours of parking are free. Thank you Legault! A star for that! Ils manquent totalement de compassion et sont complètement désintéressés par leur travail. Le médecin, étonnamment, avait un bon contact avec les patients. Les visites de suivi étaient adéquates. Procédure ambulatoire: À mon réveil, le médecin ne m'a pas rendu visite pour un compte rendu post-intervention et je n'ai reçu aucun document écrit. Le personnel infirmier a refusé de me fournir des documents. J'ai donc été tenue dans l'ignorance pendant des semaines de ce que le médecin avait pu trouver, si l'intervention avait été un succès, ce à quoi je devais faire attention après l'intervention. Et pour couronner le tout, les infirmières n'ont pas confirmé avec moi comment j'allais rentrer chez moi, elles m'ont littéralement dit de prendre mes affaires et de quitter l'hôpital. Une expérience terrible. De plus, le personnel est ouvertement raciste. Mais bon, les 2 premières heures de stationnement sont gratuites. Merci Legault! Une étoile pour ça!

I have had elderly family members that have had(and are) to stay here and everything about the experience was heart wrenching and terrible.... One of the worse experiences I have ever had with a hospital. I've currently sat for 13 hours after refusing seeing a outside clinic. The reason I refused was a combination of requiring a medical note for work and the paperwork not being correct. The first triage nurse indicated I would likely need iv antibiotics for infections in my feet. Since she left I had paperwork given to me stating burns. If you cant make the proper paperwork how can I trust your outsourcing. As I write this I havent seen a nurse in over three hours and I still havent seen a doctor. This is ridiculous

Very long service, I am waiting 7 hours now. The nurse at triage is not very professional. Had a ear problem, first sent me to pharmacy to get some over the counter remedies. I did that, it got worse. Got back to emergency and was advised that it will take a while till someone will see me. 7 hours past but still no one called me.

My dad is 83 has a hard time walking and difficulty breathing and they have No wheelchairs. I am always asked by the front desk to check outside and around the floor and there isn't any. I went 3 times in August with him and there was none around. 1 night my dad went by ambulance the nurse put the wrong bracelet on his wrist. My mother had to tell them. When they cut the bracelet the nurse cut his skin and he was bleeding. My mother had to tell her to desinfect him he is on Coumadin. When the nurse took his blood she also dropped the blood vile on the floor. Very incompetent!!!'

Staff are rude, unprofessional and outright horrible. The facilities are crumbling and insanely outdated, even the parking lot can't be used since it is in such a state of ruin. The parking lot is a good reflection of the inside of the hospital. Even if this hospital had its facilities updated, the horrible staff need training on how to handle patients.

The worst hospital all over the world, worse than even undeveloped country’s medical system. Even though I was taken an ambulance to get this hospital, I had waited to see a doctor over 10 hours. Arrived with two fingers nearly severed and glass embedded in leg. Waited for 7 hours before having family pick me up and take me to civic, where I was in, sown up and out the door in under 3 hours. Of note, the waiting room at civic had at least 20x the number of patients and staff 20x friendlier and more helpful. I would give hull emerge 0 if possible (and 5 to the civic).
