We've got the opinions of people who consumed the products of Samaritan Medical Center (Hospital) in the territory close to Gananoque (Canada).

To this day the business gets a score of 2.1 out of 5 and that score was based on 127 reviews.

You must have seen that the average score it has is very insufficient, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the valuation is very accurate. If people have bothered to value when they are pleased, it works.

You know that we don't usually bother to put reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

This Hospital corresponds to the category of General hospital.

I had outpatient surgery about 2 weeks ago. Everything went smoothly. I left and was in a lot of pain but I take an herbal supplement for chronic pain that helped so much after I got home. Well 2 weeks later my husband goes to the pharmacy and brings home the pain meds that no one told me were called into the pharmacy and weren't on my discharge paperwork. Also you really should talk to patients about what meds they are on a lot earlier than the day before their procedure and also give them more time in advance to make arrangements for childcare ect. Otherwise the staff was very respectful, nice and courteous. I was just shocked because you normally get told in advance what time you have to be at the hospital, in advance at other hospitals. I ended up having to take my daughter out of school for the day.

this place has a great psychiatric ward it has helped me a lot

Any of my experiences here were either good, or when there were delays, it was caused by something out of the control of staff and that would happen in any hospital.

I came into the ER at 3am and was in a room within 25 minutes with IV fluids going and pain meds. I was diagnosed within two hours and had surgery within 12 hours from walking in the door. All of the staff was kind and caring. All were helpful and informative. From the reviews I read I was nervous knowing I would likely need surgery, but my experience has most definitely exceeded my expectations! Dr. Kimball fit me into his busy OR schedule and I am super grateful for that!

Absolute worst in the state. Many instances of poor service and unprofessionalism. Recently my wife used the emergency room for breathing issues, she was there for 6 hours while they ran 3 tests. 6 HOURS! she needlessly to say grew impatient with the poor service and they tell her if she was to leave before the test result then insurance wouldnt cover it. They made her effectively feel like a hostage. So incredibly slow that its quicker to go to syracuse where not only is it faster but has better overall care. This hospital is an embarrassment to the area.

Our 5 year old was scheduled to have surgery at 1 p.m. of course he is unable to eat/drink anything that day. We have sat here for 3 hours so far and he is still waiting for the actual surgery. How this Hospital remains open is simply beyond me.

Horrible service, I had a 104 temperature it took a hour for them to treat me for my fever. The doctor literally said I don't know what's causing your fever so I'll treat you for 3 things and hopefully you'll be ok. If not come back.

Took my mom to get an xray and a cat scan each time it was ot a long wait. The staff are so helpful and friendly.

Brad Rentz

Honestly, it's not the longest I've had to wait in an ER. However, when even the staff don't know how long of a wait will be, there is something wrong. I've sat here and watch at least four people leave, one in which was brought in by ambulance. I will that I came in for an allergic reaction and have sat here for 4 hours so far. My hands have swelled and the reaction is getting near my eyes, so obviously it is getting worse as I am sitting here. I get it, it's Thanksgiving and people want to call in and not come into work. But where does that end when you have patients. You chose the profession and you knew what it came with.. This is absurd to have people wait so long that they just leave. I'll probably get a response asking me to contact the customer relations, but it shouldn't come to that if the hospital was ran correctly in the first place. On the other hand, the woman and man at triage were nice.

My grandma was in the ICU and we all thought it was going to be her last day. She had several heart attacks and the chances of her surviving off the vent were slim. Family from all over from 4 to 24 hours away came for their last visit. The nurses were rude and didnt seem like they knew what they were doing. We were even told to leave the waiting room for more critical cases. I'm pretty sure my grandma's case was critical enough. None of them were comforting or even nice to a grieving family. Not happy. This is not how a hospital should be. I would reccomend a different hospital.

If I could I would give this place zero stars it sucks so bad there emergency wait time are at least 4 hours no matter how you go in. I was brought in by ambulance and I was put in the waiting room like everyone else who walks in off the street. Go to Carthage hospital or Alex Bay hospital and you will still be out before you are seen here

None of the staff seems to communicate between each other or shift changes so you're basically always going in circles & they're continuously either denying you the pain meds you need or giving you the same ones that didn't work before. I had to be readmitted four separate times through ER . They kept sending me back home to an unsanitized environment & asking me to come back for more treatments a number of hours later. Out of all the people I complained to, none of my friends from various places in NY have never heard of this. Ever. I've been coming in and out for two days at their request and each time they ask me what I'm doing here and why I was asked back and always given confused looks. I honestly tried to be compliant and so nice at first, even though the pain meds weren't working etc, but I got to a breaking point when I was continuously crying from pain and they wanted to treat me with Tylenol. I rated my pain at numbers like 9 & 12 . I have an infection in a soft tissue area, my lips, and they wanted to treat me with Tylenol... I feel like when a patient is in clear visible pain and is verbally crying out, to deny them something that works for them is neglectful & inhumane when you can clearly help. I told them that even though I'm small in weight, my tolerance is incredibly high. Nobody wanted to hear me out. This is just unacceptable. I tried to be nice, but this is honestly unacceptable treatment in an ER. There's been no true compassion or care. I was never offered a damn thing as far as a small drink or snack from 2:30 am until 8am, and the only time I was treated with respect was by a woman named JEAN who was pleasant and listened and provided me with an apple juice and Popsicle at least.... it just baffles me how they get away with such crap :/

The nurses that took care of me while being monitored after my water ruptured early till I had my baby by c section were amazing such hard worker s I felt very comfortable during my stay

The screener, I believe her name was Chloe was a delight. She works at the rotunda and is always in a great mood and greets guest with a smile.

Terrible. Treated my fiancée poorly. I hope someone with enough money buys this hospital and turns it into something useful for society. Go somewhere else

My wife went in during a very scary emergency situation and was greeted with underwhelming urgency. The nurse said he was coming off of a 16 hour shift; failed to check her in properly after she was sent to a room already, resulting in a 45 minute delay; and he asked all of her PHI information in a waiting room full of people (HIPAA). The ultrasound tech, when asked if everything looks okay, responded "I don't get paid for that". No one introduced themselves or treated her with any kind of human compassion whatsoever. Patient Relations will be hearing from me for this mistreatment.

Emma Nichols

Absolutely do not go the er we waited 4 hours and had to leave because of how sick my husband was.

Leighann Booth

I can see why this facility has 2.2 stars. If I could give a zero star review I would. My brother recently had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance which also, AWFUL service I don’t think they have any idea what they are doing along with the employees at this hospital. He was laying in the hospital room and they were supposed to be giving him oxygen and they somehow forgot to turn it on??? The doctor saw him twice..once when he got there and once when he left. Which no one walked him out of the hospital and he was still so out of it when he was trying to leave he had no idea where he was going. If I ever have an emergency, take me all the way to lowville.

Jenni Sepe

Terrible doctors. Alot of the nurses are great but they don't know how to notify anyone of their condition. My mom was admitted 4 times from the span of June-September. She was diagnosed with pnuemonia the first time and was told she had something in her lungs after a chest x-ray. Sent home with meds and never heard anything. She got bad again and was readmitted and this time it was double pnuemonia. They also did a biopsy this time. Sent her home again with more meds. Never heard anything. The 3rd time she went they told finally told her she had lung cancer but never specified how bad it was or any treatment options for at least a month after they sent her home. The 4th and final time she was admitted was when she passed in September. At that time was the better of the experiences and the nurses who took care of her when she was dying we're very good nurses .

Paisley Cloudsaremine Playsalone

Worst hospital and Medical Center in THE WHOLE WORLD.... They know nothing about HIPPA law... and they had been treating me for years... I should have found another doctor, but I'm limited, as I don't have many options in this town. I would never get anything done at this hospital and it's sad that the people who run these places don't even care. Ignore the praises, they are lies... Straight up LIES!!!

A hour wait to get registered to get blood work. This hospital is clearly understaffed or just don't care anymore

I went to leray urgent care for a sinus infection. The dr on call was Dr. Bunker and he made the nurse clean out my left ear and moved crystals in my ear. He also prescribed me an antibiotic which i ended having an allergic reaction to it but didn't know it. I ended getting vertigo because Dr. Bunker screwed up and moved crystals around in my ear. So the next day I had to go to the ER because i couldn't even walk. So I went to the ER and the Dr. that was on call even told me that Dr. Bunker shouldnt never had my ear cleaned. She even said that was caused me to have veritgo. So I received my bills in the mail and I gathered all my information to submit for charity care because I didnt have health insurance. I got denied charity care because of my income. So I wrote a letter explaining my situation and it took 10 months to get back to me saying that I'm still denied. So i call the Paitent Relations Manager and explained to her that I would like someone to call me and explain to me why is this my fault if the dr didnt scew up on Saturday that I wouldnt have to had to go to the ER on Sunday. The dr. called me and told me that they would excuse Saturda's bill because they billed the wrong doctor but wouldn't forgive Sunday's bill. I was all fine on paying on Saturday's bill but not Sunday's especially because its their fault! Beware stay clear away from Samartian!

Lucas Vandervort

Slow beyond belief. Brought my friend in for an allergic reaction that was worsening every minute. 45 minutes later not even triaged or registered. Ive been a medic for 15 years and been to hospitals all over the state. Worst yet.

Kaytee Montgomery

honestly deserves 0 stars. almost everyone I came in contact here with was rude and treated me like I was an idiot the whole time. I'd advise you pick anywhere else than here.

Donnyyolanda Calamusa

Was sent to ER from North Country Orthopedic group directly from my appointment on Friday Sept. 10th @4:30pm. Orthopedic group was told from the head nurse at ER (Kelly... day time nurse) that I would need my cast cut for 'easy access' in order for an ultra sound to be done. Turns out after a 7 hour wait I finally got a room (although my order was stat) only to be told that all the ultra sound guy needed was to do an ultra sound on both sides if my groine area. In short there was no reason to cut my cast creating a more vulnerable situation to worsen because now my broken fibula was unsecure and had to remain so all weekend. I straight had two nurses tell me they weren't helping me, and triage nurse was everything except quiet when discussing my situation in waiting room. ???? I was so embarrassed. The only good thing this place has going for it is the PA I seen she was very caring and concerned the catscan (younger guy) seemed to be very knowledgeable explained the catscan procedure as it was happening. The ultra sound guy didn't have good bed side manors walked in told me either I pull my pants down or he is going to cut them off, no explanation no nothing. If I had to do it over again I would of went to Carthage Hospital.

Just called to check on a loved one. I was notified about her status, said thanks and was abruptly hung up on without a "you're welcome." Receptionist in ER name was Laurie. Very uncool!

Anstachius Howell

Horrible ...3 hour wait ! People that came after my so were called to a room before us. Finally after 3 hours I asked a nurse if we were forgotten. She insisted that every other case was more important than ours. Then was called back 5 minutes later. Just like this area the hospital sucks.

Ashley Giacchina

My daughter was taken to the ER in April 2021. She was taken back, had x-rays done, and then got her chin glued (she gashed it open in two spots). In all it took about 5 hours total. While the process was a bit long, she received the care she needed and everyone was polite. She wasn’t scared and handled it extremely well thanks to the nurses + doctors.

Alyson Rice

This place should be shut down. It is the worst place to go in an emergency situation. Either the staff and doctors are incredibly burned out or totally lack compassion, knowledge and an understanding of their own profession. It would be safer to use google to diagnosis your symptoms then to step foot in this place. Horrendous and one star is one step above this place.

Lauren Bingham

I went to this hospital for an outpatient surgery. The nurses were very friendly, attentive, and thorough. My blood draw, I.V., and anesthesia were all as comfortable as possible. I have been to hospitals in different states, civilian and military, and the care I received at the Samaritan surgical center was bar none.

Samaritan Hospital ER does not deserve the one (1) star. My pregnant daughter is in this evening for abdominal pain and bleeding. Three (3) hours and still not seen or placed. Horrific service.

I recently was treated at Samaritan and I can't speak with enough praise for the treatment I received. Everyone was absolutely wonderful! I received exceptional care from everyone I came in contact with, from the moment I walked through the front door of the ER, to the time I left the next day.

Please ignore older and negative reviews. This hospital has undergone major renovations and has become most efficient and has a top rated staff. Those that say the staff is rude... well, I have to question how they, themselves, acted or spoke with the staff, as the nurses, PAs, docs, etc. could not be more friendly, concerned or helpful. My family and I have visited this ER nearly dozen times, between us, over the past year, and none of us have had more than a 20 minute wait to be seen. That is a VERY short wait. Try going to a big city hospital. You could wait hours before you're even triaged. As to being admitted to this hospital... Both my Mother and I have several 3 to 10 day stays... ALL private rooms (except for mental health)... CLEAN, something not to be taken for granted, as I've been to several very dirty hospitals... very friendly nurses and aids, happy to get you a beverage, snack or whatever you need to be more comfortable... Meals delivered on YOUR time, after ordering what you like from the menu, actual room service like a hotel would provide... The food isn't great, but it's not bad. And the doctors... I've had no issues with the docs. Each I've seen has seemed to care and have the time to address my issues. The Radiology department staff are better still, SO friendly, chatty (if you feel like chatting), quick and efficient. Last, a friend had several stays in the mental health department, so I visited a number of times. While a bit dreary (not yet renovated), the staff works hard to keep the patient's spirits up, and they seem to genuinely care. My friend left in much better shape. That isn't always the case when it cones to mental health. All to be attributed to a hospital that gives excellent care and that does actually care for their patients in every way.

Sarah Weaver

Worst experience ever last night/this morning! My son had flu symptoms, fever, shaking, vomiting, severe headache, and severe dehydration. He waited in the ER waiting for 5 hours and was never seen. He just sat there. It was like no one cared. His symptoms got worse so he called the number that was posted on the wall, TWICE, to tell someone and no one answered!!! Absolutely pathetic! He is an active duty military medic and left the facility! Very disheartening! He will never trust this facility again!

Robert Bulleck

Do not go here. Ever. Understaffed. Overworked. Called the desk about a spine issue. Woman stated and I quote "Okay, well I don't care." And hung up. 5 hour waits with understaffed nurses and doctor. Triage is not a word they know. They will let the drug addicts in before a serious injury because the addicts make a giant scene. If you want to be amused, just watch in the ER waiting room for a good show. Unprofessional, understaffed and extremely rude. I wouldn't go back there if my arm was falling off. You might as well stay home. Never. Ever. Again.

Colton Nicholas

This is the worst hospital ever the staff are rude up here I’m sorry but I rsther go to Carthage hospital then SMC they don’t deserve a star

Only because zero stars in not an option. In the ER with my father. Been here 6 hours and a doctor has not been in in over four to say anything. He is on an oxygen mask which he took off in his sleep and fortunately a nurse actually saw it and put it back on before he died because at least 45 minutes earlier the sensor monitoring his oxygen levels had fallen off, so the readings that the nurse's station were getting was that he was dead and no one had bothered to check on him, just literally left him for dead. Which, without the nurse happening to walk by and seeing his mask off very well could have been the case. This is not just irresponsible but it borders on criminal. No doctor in over four hours? Inexcusable

G Mark Miller

Super friendly, There was very little wait, and paperwork was easily taken care of by the staff.

Yesterday I took the kids to the doctor because my stepson had an ear infection and so while we were in the doctor's room, one of the nurses came in and started taking our information. She asked me who I was to the kids and I told her their stepdad. She then responds with what's your relation to their mother, are you married and I was like no we are engaged. And then she decides to say then you're not their stepdad. And I'm like yes I am, she continues to tell me no. She then ask for their mother's work number. As she calls her, she says to kassie, that I'm trying to act like I'm their stepdad when I'm not. And kassie responds that I am their stepdad. And she replies back no he's not. And it's like seriously, it's not up to you to say whether or not I am their stepdad. The kids consider me their stepdad, so therefore I am. Marriage doesn't define what a dad is, that is up to the kids to decide. Just because I'm not legally their step dad doesn't mean that I'm not and that i can't consider myself one. It was completly unprofessional and unnecessary to say, especially right in front of the kids. She could have just simply said, "well I still have to talk to the mother" which is fine, I completly understand that. She had no business to demean me in front of the kids. I may not be legally their stepdad, but that's what they choose to see me as. I've never had anyone be rude to me like that, anyone else just confirmed that they needed to call the mother to make sure and I've never had a problem with that and completly understood. So if you're in the ER and get an old lady to take down your info, I'd request another nurse.

I'd rather die in a ditch than go back here.

This hospital is a joke. Nurses do not care at all. Told me they would come back in 10 mins to check on my pain and came back 2 hours later. Doctors do not seem concerned at all and the doctor who gave me and epidural put it IN THE WRONG SPOT so I had to get it redone. These people are playing with others people life, and do not show one bit of sympathy. I do not recommend anyone to go here.

Never again will I go to the ER, as advised by my surgeon, for pain that isn't being controlled with my prescribed pain medication. I follow the rules and how to take my meds and when I had break through pain I could not control with my meds, I was treated as a pill seeker. I step outside to the bench to get fresh air to keep from passing out after I was told to return to the waiting to await X-ray's after I had blood work. The first doctor would not listen to anything I had to say. Brushed me off. After I return to come in, and I did let someone know where I was, I find out that they kicked my file out and I had to be registered again. Once called back, to triage again, I explained to the new doctor the issue. She advised me that they would not prescribe meds to me. I then tell her that is not what I was there for. All I needed was some help for the break through pain to help with the flare up. After explaining the situation again, I was finally taken back and given a pain med that has always been in my chart as an allergy. I was not told what med it was until after I was given it. I had an allergic reaction and was given a high dose of benadryl that stopped the reaction. Once that was done I was sent home. I understand that there is a protocol for people with pain. But when your chart shows that you are with their pain management clinic and you are still treated in a manor of a drug seeker, I find that highly unprofessional and unethical. Maybe it's time that said protocol should be evaluated and changed. Some people have no choice but to come to the ER when there prescribed pain meds are not helping. I will never go to any ER ever again due to how I was treated. I'd rather suffer first.

Josh A

What a phenomenal place. Both our babies were born there. I have never met such hard working dedicated people in my life. Very detail oriented and professional. We had multiple nurses and doctors during our stay and everyone of them were awesome.

Not the first time I’ve been here terrible hospital my 5 month old had a injury possibly severe been waiting a hours and the nurses are totally disrespectful security gaurd too needs to be fired telling people to fix his mask when he is not wearing his correctly either! Go to Carthage area hospital if you need help!

Marco S

I went there yesterday in extreme pain and barely able to sit stand and walk. All they did was xray my back and give me some low level muscle relaxers and otc anti inflammatory. I'm a health care professional myself so seeing the non-caring attitude from those people over there really puts things in perspective. I wouldn't take my dead dog over to the e.r. for treatment. ????

Leslie Stilwell

Samaritan is probably one of the worst ER's I have ever been to. They take FOREVER to get you back, they take FOREVER to get test results back, they take FOREVER to get you out. Some of the staff members are very nice, but you're only at the ER because something is wrong. Obviously you need MORE staff members.

Rebecca Lo Kohler

The ER doctors are contractors, 1099s, who are not linked to the hospital or possibly even the community. If they do a panel of tests the Center makes money. The Center is not responsible for the decisions but are responsible for the billing. It's like buying a used car, buyer beware! I had unexplained bleeding and was sent to do an MRI at the ER. When I went to my Specialist, he said the $2k MRI was useless and inappropriate, but the real test that needed to be done was not and would have cost less than $10.

Very long wait times been here for my wife a couple times broken ankle and other problems but it has always been an incredibly long wait roughly 4 hours per visit

I had a stroke and was treated well here. Both the Daytime Nurse Julia and the Nightime Nurse Amy were very professional and caring. They both exceeded my expectations and made a challenging situation for me easier to deal with.

I recently received a total hip replacement at SMC. The admissions process was smooth and efficient. The day of the surgery went very well with attentive staff that treated me in a very professional manner. On negative was the Surgery Progress TV in the waiting room that is not updated and inaccurate. Inpatient care on the 5th floor was terrific especially the RN's and CNA's. All very committed to a good quality of care for their patients. Food service was simple and actually better than expected. The only negative was the discharge process. It seemed disorganized in the paperwork side. Overall my SMC experience was good! Thank you!!!

I wanted to say THANK YOU to all the amazing people who took care of my daughter, Victoria, during her surgery yesterday. Had an appointment with the radiology team today, and I must say, they were the best team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. They were calm and patient and took their time to really explain everything needed in order for the procedure to go smoothly. I was super anxious to go to Samaritan for this procedure, given it’s recent issues and history (usually have HORRENDOUS experiences with the ER), but these guys really do take their job seriously if you let them and wow did they do absolutely flawless today. The wait is definitely longer than usual, but their staff is warm, welcoming, and friendly so long as you treat them right as well. Thank you so much to the radiology department, you all are incredible!!

I don't understand why or how a dr or nurses can get away with all they do an don't get punished for not documenting an the dr never did any further testing on my husband an but a bandaide on his problem an he passes away 30 days later an the corner states that it's Smc fault an still can't do anything, I pray everyday some one will get it an that no one should have to loose there spouse of over 20 years an there two boys had to watch it all an still deal with it two years later ... I pray for forgiveness for this dr because he took my boy's father an my husband away from me because they all can document anything or they can't be on the same page , we have to leave with this everyday of our lives but what do they get a paycheck an who cares , Take it from me they are trained to know what septic is an they over looked that too an then misdiagnoses him with a appendix an not a right ingular hernia an they clear seen him reducing it an was told I am the dr your the patient .. Yes we all know what it's like there an it continues!!!

Dave Bickford

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. This is the worst hospital I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I just paid you $3,000 and now more bills show up for you a month later and you're not willing to work on a payment plan because the balances aren't high enough. I just paid you all I had and now you cant extend the decency to work with me... Total lunacy. I'll be using other hospitals from now on for anything I need. At the very least I know Carthage is willing to work with its customers. Samaritan Medical will not see another dime for me and we are now moving my wife's pregnancy needs to Carthage. Your loss due to absolutely horrible customer service.

Chantell Armstrong

If I could give ZERO stars I would. My grandfather was brought in by ambulance, potential stroke. No ONE, not even his wife was allowed to enter with him. I get it, COVID. You are then given a list of of numbers and told to call the desk nurse for updates, cause they do not call you. And then when we called the Desk Nurse, she was the completely unhelpful. Saying things like "Sorry I do not know the patient." Isn't that your job to know the patients or I don't know use the computer and look it up. Refused multiple different time, different call attempts for info, to give her name, or to redirect the call to someone who could help us. All we wanted was to know if he was alive. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

Melissa Torres

This place is the worst. I dont know exactly why they are so rude especially when I wasn't being rude at all. I called because I was having some chest pains due to bronchitis and have never taken an inhaler prior. I just wanted to speak with someone regarding my symptoms so I didn't bother them with my presence a nd the lady who answered the phone. Stated this was an er and said they were busy and hung up the phone. Yikes. So much for caring Healthcare facility

When I was induced and giving birth I did like the nurses with me as well as for recovery. But after my daughter was born she developed a bump on her head that didn't look right and I touched it and it felt like something was in there. Took her to there er and they were like it's nothing it will go down if it was and infection it would look different. Well 2 days later it busted and it smelled(infection) and then she needed up going to children's hospital to get that drained and it wa for sure an infection the surgeons said that as well as the INFECTION team. They said if it didn't bust and sat any longer the infection could of affected her brain. All happened when she was 2 weeks old. Literally turned 2 weeks old. I was so furious and still am with the er doctor who said it was nothing. If I didn't have a good experience hinging birth it would have no stars. But that is the only reason it's getting one because my experience having her and she is our first baby. Mothers know best and know there babies and I should of gotten a second opinion about it.

Nadia Redman

I was born here 15 years ago, and I wasn't dropped or anything so I think that counts for something.

I went to the ER after injuring my back. I was in excruciating pain. The ER staff was very friendly and attentive. I was hospitalized on the Ortho floor for almost 3 weeks. The care was the best. I had spinal fusion surgery and came home pain free and walking again. The care in all departments was incredible. I’m so glad I stayed in Watertown and didn’t travel to Syracuse.

Good day, My name is Bev Langsford, my mother, Jean Langsford, was at you hospital on Sunday Feb 16,2014, and i am so impressed with your staff that i had to tell you that you have such an excellent staff... from the lady who took her information, to the triage nurse, to the pa who got her so she was feeling better. Even the radiation staff were so kind to her, the ct gentleman to the lady who took her chest x ray were all so understanding to what she was going through... the lady who took her ekg and her blood were so very kind.. I just wanted to tell you have such an excellent staff and should be so very proud of the great work and service that they give... thank you so much have a great day Bev Langsford

If you have the option to go to ANY other hospital. I would take it.

Thomas Bradley Sr.

I am writing from the perspective of an employee. Samaritan is a great place to work and has the latest in technology, with respected specialists in many fields, and an amazing facility. As hospitals go, many of the reviews result from a negative experience. Patients do not understand the care that they or their family are getting, or the effort that goes into that care, but often feel less than important when others appear to be getting more attention. Shame on us for when that happens. Even though we often need to give more immediate attention to those who are more ill, we still need to leave our patients with a sense of confidence and feeling important. Rest assured that most of the staff at Samaritan are there for our patients, and do care about each and every one, and that we are a progressive, teaching hospital that others can hold themselves up to. We are not all perfect, and medicine is not an exact science, but believe me when I say that by comparison to other hospitals of similar size, we are lucky to have the facility and network of facilities Samaritan oversees in our area. I am proud to be a part of that family of service providers. On one hand, I can not rate us at a 5, as we are imperfect, but do give us a 5 star for our effort and commitment. Bear with us as we learn and grow...

Marisol Reyes-Serrano

If I didn't have to give a star I wouldn't. They don't even deserve the 1 star. I was called back to a room and was there 3 hours and had not seen a doctor and no one kept me informed on what was going on. I've had 2 back surgeries and the waiting on the gurney was cause excruciating back pain and they would not help me out. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WELL AND NOT FORGOTTEN.

Karen Lyons

I have to say without a doubt best experience if you could have one at a hospital. In the spring my son fell off skateboard breaking his forearm and I knew it was bad. Once walking into the ER and they seen his arm, they took him right away for vitals while I was signing him in. After vitals he went over to triage room and quickly everyone came with x-rays and IVs and registration nurse getting all personal info. Less than an hour in triage a Dr came in stated to us that the Orthopedic Dr had been called and surgery would be performed that night having to wait due to my son had just eaten so he wouldn't have any issues during surgery. After surgery he was treated well by all nurses and Dr informed us that so many bags of antibiotics has to be given before being discharged and that being the reason for discharge delay. We couldn't have had a better experience from start to finish anywhere else. Staff, Dr's, nurses and all did a great job!

Ronald Mackey

This is the worst hospital around the country..how they keep there doors open is beyond me..I went in having really bad pain in my back and they said I had kidney stones. The Dr (urologist) did the surgery and they sent me home saying I would be fine...no not the case..I was back in by ambulance two hrs later screaming..they wanted to do nothing but finally admitted me..gets better..next morning they came in and ( without any testing) said they were discharging me because the urologist said I had no more kidney stones( had not seen him again after the day before..and still no test) I went out front of the hospital on the front grass and passed out from the intense pain..my fiancé and her mom picked me up..( not one person from the hospital came out) a fort drum soldier had came to my assistance just as the pulled in) the took me to Syracuse and thank God I did or my kidney would have ruptured because it was blocked..the worst care ever..unknown who they pay off to stay in business.. If you want to stay alive..GO TO SYRACUSE!!!

Tonight I went into the hospital with chest pain and I have a heart condition. I was quickly whisked away into the back where they did an EKG. Two hours later I see the doctor who mind you has no care in the world of my heart, the reason why I’m there. He decides it’s my lungs, mind you I can breath fine. He decides he needs a blood gas, an extremely painful procedure that I respectfully declined. He then tried to discharge me “against doctors wishes” the charge nurse came and pretty much backed me into a corner about getting it done. I reluctantly agree to the blood gas test. The therapist comes down and ultimately can’t get the test. The doctor AGAIN tries to discharge me against his wishes. I’ve never felt so defeated and disrespected in my entire life! I complied with your test and it still wasn’t good enough. The charge nurse was a monster and By the way I’m home now with the same chest pain. That he refuse to treat because of a test.i will never go back to this place again!

Mike M.

Daughter twisted her ankle at a nearby ski area... went to Samaritan's ER for xrays. In and out in just over an hour! Despite about a half-dozen folks in the waiting room, things were moving. Our experience was quick and efficient; ER staff worked in sync with one another.

Mackenzie Thompson

this hospital is the absolute worst. very rare do you come across any good employees. they treat you terribly and have poooooor service.

Dak Soum

Daksoum getting better

Tywans Bush

My daughter is currently in this hospital, her experience has been horrible. She went in for seizures and since they can't figure out why the seizures are happening the Dr. That's treating her figured that she must be faking. I could not believe what I was hearing.

Linnette Vega

Good service and friendly staff

Kailey

I recently gave birth here, and despite my health condition, my experience could not have been better. First, I had excellent treatment from every person I encountered. Dr. Barrett performed a perfect surgery, and the anesthesiologist gave me a no-pain experience. Moreover, the bedside nurses like Robin, Haley, Brandi, Lori, Megan, and more, made my stay comfortable. Thank you to the dedicated staff who took care of my health, and comforted my family.

Upon arrival I thought to myself, "No wonder this place has a 2.2 star rating". My initial contact with registration was very unpleasant. After waiting an hour to go through the booth to be registered we went back to the table for registration and the lady was much nicer this time. She pushed us through and as soon as we got back to sit for Radiology we were called back. Bill walked us through the process, apologized for the wait and offered to take my youngest son so I could be with my oldest through his testing. The entire radiology and hospital staff were warm and friendly. Every person said hello to us. I understand that the hospital staff have all been overwhelmed but despite everything going on they all continue to be pleasant. I would give them a 10/10 if I was able on their level of patient care alone. Thank you all for being wonderful. It truly is appreciated!

Douglas Arena

i wont even set foot in the place, im not old. they would never admit me no matter how sick i was.

Tessa Dirks

Amanda Pohle-Odom

Worst hospital ever. Wouldn't even give them one star... Had my induction that went horribly wrong!!!! that ended up in c-section. None of the doctors or staff communicate or are knowledgable... Newborn care is scary my daughter had high bilirubine levels as well and they did not put her under lights until day 3... No support from nurses... Just bad .. Do not go here.

Dave Gilbert

Well after reading all the other reviews I guess this place really sucks. Probably a flashback to the Civil War.

Nicholas Perkins

I went to the hospital for mental reasons and they basically stuffed me in a tiny room and left me there and what’s worse is we had to get a lawyer involved to get me out and a little boy was next to me and had no one to see him I spent 4 DAYS in the emergency room

Rob Mackey

The ER was open and took 3 patients in front of us the were minor cases . No sympathy , very unpleasant interactions . Uncomfortable .

(0 stars actually) Spouse went in for a head injury. They had us, along with other people in the waiting room for 3-4 hours. A 2 year old threw up while waiting and even after that no one came out to call them in. Everybody just started leaving, after another while we left too smh.what emergency room has patients that obviously came for an emergency, waiting for hours.

The level of care I received this morning in the ER was above and beyond anything one would expect in any healthcare setting. Nurse Jen was so kind and thoughtful in her care and Dr. Rachel was by far the most compassionate and thorough doctor I have ever met. Thank you SMC.

Ive seen the reviews of having to wait a long time. They werent lying. Even if someone who just came in has a serious issue. This hospital has probably all of the rooms occupied. I wish that was disclaimed in person and online. Me personally am not a patient person and my case is rather moderate i should've gone to Walmart or a cvs. i feel like im taking up space for someone who needs the medical attention the most. Ive been waiting almost an hour and all i need is Benadryl ????.

Bradley Spence

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I went in for pulmonary testing and everything was smooth and quick. Staff were polite and helpful.

T M

Husband in surgery for knee replacement right now, just got a phone call from an OR Nurse telling me to go home and look for an ICE PACK. they didn't have any. I was worried before but now a hospital just admitted they don't have ice packs for OR recovering patients?! i have to constantly call this hospital. today its been 9 times, it rings, then immediately receive an error "unable to complete the call" switch error.

Sheila Ducote

I'm new to NY and I'm pregnant for the first time, I've literally changed my doctor 3 times before I switched to Womens wellness & Breastcare & Samaritan Hospital which seems to be the ONLY place within the Carthage area where the doctors & nurses are experts in their area of study & go above & beyond to make sure you feel informed and as comfortable as possible. They actually care about you here! Just absolutely a relief to be recieving care here as apposed to Carthage area hospital or womens way to wellness

Susan Bishop

Ridiculous amount of attitude from the staff, not to mention the 5 hours waiting period. Worst place ever.

Bill Robinson

Did not hate my visit there it was a good visit.

Keith Kittle

Apathetic Medical Staff. Went to the ER for my 4 year old. The staff was disinterested and annoyed that I was there. The NP on duty the morning of the 4th made snide comments under her breath which was very disturbing.....

Danice Cashin

I went by ambulance and when I was in the ER waiting for a CAT scan for my abdomen, a tech came and told me he was going to take me to get my head and neck CAT Scan. I refused to go with the tech and told him I was supposed to have my abdomen imaged. He was clueless. He left then returned later saying the ER doctor had made a mistake in my chart. I did later get my imaging done but was thankful I spoke up, because I was there for what ended up being acute appendicitis.

TIFFANY VanEpps

THIS HOSPITAL HAS REALLY BAD BEDSIDE MANNER. i WAS IN THE ER FOR 7 HRS IN THE SAME POSISTION AND DEVELOPED A SORE ON MY TAILBONE. i KEPT ASKING FOR WATER SEVERAL TIMES AND NOBODY GAVE ME ANY NOR WAS I OFFERED ANY FOOD (AFTER LAB WORK) . I STILL FEEL AWFUL. I'M AN INDVIDUAL WITH CEREBRAL PALSY AND WHEELCHAIR BOUND. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING AT ALL.

Kassandra Love

The reviews are right! Dont go here if u want a staff with good bedside manner. They are very rude, we will never come back. My fiance brought my son there a couple days ago and the staff was very rude. I was at work, they called to get my permission to treat and she was rude on the phone with me as well! She was treating us like we were an inconvience TO HER. Seriously? If you're a nurse, u really should treat your patients better. If not, find a new job. "Everyone has a bad day" yeah, that would be fine if there wasn't a thousand other people on here who have experienced the same thing. I was looking through the reviews and thought maybe we'd have a different experience here but, no. This place has a low rating for a reason people, read the reviews! Don't go here, I'd rather drive an hour to another hospital than deal with that again.

I’m currently experiencing a miscarriage and lots of pain. I told these people and it’s been 2 hours and I haven’t been seen. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m currently waiting in the room to be seen by anyone. A doctor/nurse whoever. Nobody checked on me or taken any blood. I hear them outside the room talking about their pets and laughing. If you can go somewhere else, please do. These people don’t care.

JP Bartow

Samaritan sincerely needs to review their phone system and phone etiquette. Not only was I transferred around a half dozen times by people who didn't know what they're doing, but they also straight up said I was not treated in the ER after I spent 11 straight hours there. What a joke of a hospital... You're better off going to Carthage or Syracuse if it's not a life threatening matter.

Awaken Productions

Samaritan Hospital never ceases to amaze me. They have the most rude and unprofessional staff I've ever met. I am pregnant and went in with abdominal pain. I was clearly scared and sad, the registration woman told me "you know if you're having a miscarage there's nothing they can do for you back there." I wasn't even thinking about that as a possibility?! She was also trying to convince me that I probably wasn't pregnant bc I was breastfeeding my son... We went in at around 11:30am and didn't get out until 6:15pm... the staff were so rude and treated me like I was an inconvenience. This is one of the many terrible experience I've had at this horrible hospital. ????

Tommas Bosley

The worst Hospital ER I have ever been to. Compared to other hospitals of its size and capabilities this place is severely lacking proper medical ethics to the extent at which can even be considered and identified as negligence and malpractice endangering the lives of all who enter, the nursing staff will ignore patients and the medical staff will make conjectures based on little to no information that lead to rather major cases of misdiagnosis, in which hospitals and urgent centers between Syracuse NY and Leray have to pick up the slack. This with a detailed report of each occurrence I have seen will be passed up to proper watch dog parties.

Jamar Clark

I took my wife to the hospital and we waited from 11 to 5pm. Some people who came after us was seen before her and even some who was in front waited a long time as well. We just left who knows would of probably been there longer. Worst hospital I been to.

Heather Arnold

I had my son here in 2000. By myself. In a hospital room. No one helped me. I pulled him out of my body myself since they didnt believe there were contractions, even the machine said there were regular ones present. I removed the cord that was wrapped around his neck twice. I called and told them baby was born. I passed out for who knows how long. Long enough that the placenta that was still located in my body shrunk up and hardened and later had to be pulled out of me by hand. Thank god the baby was ok and so was i. I was glad to be discharged in one piece. Worst experience ever. That baby was still worth it. ????

It is such a pleasure to publish, to these pages, a very positive 5-Star review for Samaritan Medical Center. The entire emergency room team, as in place at 2:30 AM; September 6, 2021 and headed by Dr. David J. Flint, were incredibly empathetic, highly efficient....just plain damned good at what they do. If only the entire team could be mine to keep....{sigh}. Thank you all sooooo much. Bill

Katherine Seward

They piss me off because they made us wait 4 1/2 hours to tell us they were refusing to treat my child. The way they run the ER is atrocious, and the way the run the hospital is appalling at best. How they manage to keep their doors open and not treat their patients is beyond me. If I could give a zero star review I would. And what makes the whole thing even worse is the fact that this is the only hospital in town, and if you are like many patients who live in watertown, you are either too sick or can't afford the 30 minute ride to a better hospital. God forbid there is an emergency in town, everyone would be doomed.

Ruth Blake

By far the worst place I have experienced. And it’s the same every time I’ve had to come. Once I came in with appendicitis and I wasnt diagnosed or properly seen for over 6 hours. Finally had surgery over 12 hours after first arriving in severe pain doubled over. Then had randomly complications from a SIMPLE surgery. Had mysterious bruising afterwards. My eyes turned YELLO and have splotches of red and Fever after surgery to which the guy on staff glanced at my eyes from over 4 feet away and said “oh it’s fine”. Then sent me home with NO explanation whatsoever. The staff is very rude, don’t communicate to you at all, lack manners and simply don’t seem to care about their job. If you just seem like an inconvenience to the staff, then there is a problem. The wait is ALWAYS long no matter what you are here for. So if you are dying, go ANYWHERE but here. I would give a 0 if there was the option.

Mark Edward Lindenmuth Jr

They saved my life back in '98, so you might say I'm a fan! Thank you so much!

My dad tested positive for COVID. He has asthma and sleep apnea. He uses a cpap machine, inhaler, etc. They admitted him Wednesday evening. I'm addition to COVID, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. They released him Friday. He was told to leave despite not being able to breathe. Even a walk to the bathroom is a struggle. No one checked on him. No one reached out to my mom. My mom nearly called 911 the following morning when he couldn't breathe. No one called my mom to pick my dad up. Just a very disappointing treatment. If you're able to, I suggest going to Upstate Medical in Syracuse if you're able to.

Stephanie Berry-Chouinard

Wish I could give this ZERO stars. My 2 year old son threw up 3 times in an hour after falling off the couch and hitting his head earlier in the day and his pediatrician wanted him checked out. It was 11:30 pm so the only place to take him was the ER. We got there ar midnight and sat there for FOUR hours before I decided to take him somewhere else. While I was waiting I watched them take TWO other toddlers back that came in after me. Apparently a neurological workup and possible head injury doesn't merit treatment.

Mariah Jones

Recently went to the ER. The nurses at the front desk laughed at me and made fun of me because I screamed in my sleep. They all would walk by and stare at me like I was a zoo animal. I heard a middle age nurse say, “she doesn’t have insurance. See people like her, they can go right back out on the street where they belong, it’s not my problem.” First of all I had just moved here so I wasn’t covered and second of all they have to serve everyone no matter what. Another young nurse at the desk was sitting there and I raised my hand because I had to go to the bathroom. I said “excuse me?” And the desk was right in front of my door so I know they could hear and she whispered to the guy right next to her, “what does she want?” They didn’t even come over and ask me. That felt like a blow to the face, so I literally had to wave down someone else to help me. I also heard them talk amongst eachother about things I said in my sleep and laugh about that too. I don’t know if they’re racist or what but that was the WORST experience ever. ER staff are supposed to be nice not cold and disrespectful. Finally when I was going to go up to PCU they talked among eachother about who would take me up and the older lady said, “I’ll take the troll.” Just the worst experience ever. I’ll go to Carthage next time I need to go to the ER.

Delivered our baby at this hospital. The nurses were amazing and the midwife fantastic. They heard and addressed every concern I had and I felt safe and in good hands. They explained clearly all procedures to be done for me and for baby. I never felt confused or left in the dark. The rooms were spotless and brand new. Definitely felt pampered. Would and will reccomend!! And plan to have future babies here.

Hunter Nolen

I went in at 0930 pm for a migraine that was causing me extreme pain to the point that I was almost screaming in agony, I waited patiently in the waiting room until 1 o’clock in the morning and was never seen. Really would not recommend going to the emergency room there unless you plan on waiting a very long time

I brought my 5 year old son Gavin to Samaritan ER last night (06/22/17). He had fallen off a swing and hurt his wrist. When we walked in, I started filling out our paperwork and a woman immediately said to come on over and she would complete it with us. She was very friendly and comforting. She immediately got us into the waiting room where we sat for a few minutes and were called by another woman. This woman asked us some additional questions. She also was very friendly and sympathetic. She said a Dr would be with us shortly and would most likely do xrays. She sent us back to the waiting room where we sat for another couple minutes. We were then called again to go into a room. The Dr came in shortly after that. He sat down with Gavin and I, and really made us feel comfortable and that they would take good care of us. He said he wanted to get xrays to make sure Gavin was ok. Another man brought us to get those done. After that we went back into the room to wait for the Dr to give us the results. He came back in and let us know that Gavin had fractured his wrist in two places. He was extremely sympathetic and engaging to Gavin. They offered him stickers and a stuffed animal. Gavin genuinely felt very comfortable with all of the staff. They were so professional and nice. Samaritan ER staff made a 5 year old and his fathers bad situation about as good of an experience than we could ever ask for. Keep up the good work Samaritan staff! We really appreciate you!

Didn't even deserve the one star. Was in this place for four hours today to get a blood test done and had a lot of people still ahead of me I can't be there for another 4 hours can't be there all night long just not going back here again. So I left

On September 30, 2019 I had a hip replacement surgery at Samaritan Medical Center by Dr. Baird of North Country Orthopaedic Group. The staff at Samaritan was amazing! Super friendly. They tended to my needs quickly and answered all my questions. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Even the food was great. My surgeon was wonderful and everything went so well. Thank you to Dr. Baird, the Samaritan staff (especially the new aide, Adam, from Fort Drum), and the staff at NCOG for taking such good care of me!

Daniel Zagumennyy

Got attacked by an animal in the woods and the staff was amazing. I was patched up in a few hours and went home with my brother. I was rated a level 4 out of 5. This is an ER and if it's not life threatening situation then don't excpect immediate care. If you want care then go see a doctor, but if your about to die then go here and the staff will do what's right and save you. Level 5 means your not as important as someone who is about to die. Level 1 means you need immediate care of you will die.

A. Bellsboy123

Denies patients service dogs due to their size. Are understaffed to where they cannot see walk ins, yet they do not close their walk in section of the hospital. I got there at 4pm and left at 9pm due to frustration of people being there since 12pm that afternoon. Bed side Manner gets worse anytime you go there. They are at this point asking for a lawsuit.

Benton Roe

Giving this place one star because zero stars isn't possible on google. My wife and I had an extremely traumatic experience here when dealing with a very personal medical emergency. The staff that we encountered caused more emotional stress than the condition we were up against. We were kept completely in the dark about the tests being performed on my wife. I was not "allowed" to inquire as to what would happen next or simply an overall explanation of the process, and we were left with no good recommendation on how to proceed with a serious condition. After several days in limbo, and repeated visits to the same facility for further testing we encountered the public relations department who took a very lengthy explanation of our terrible experience with a promise that they would contact us later that day once their supervisor was done with a meeting to discuss the complaint further. Bottom line, no contact was made and I am sure that the several pages of notes taken by the secretary wound up in the trash. We were informed of the conclusion of our visit a day later by an extrememly rude nurse, concluding the event with a pretty grim and inhumane ending. Do NOT trust this facility with your loved ones, go somewhere else!

Rachel Maeng Brown

Honestly, the worst experience of my life. I came in with severe nerve pain needing an IV antibiotic immediately. I saw the nurses and right before I went to fill paperwork with one, she yelled at the whole ER “I hate this place I hope it burns to the ground”. Once she placed me in the waiting room, they saw 2 patients after me. I quietly asked her what the ETA for help was, and told her I was in severe nerve pain, and she yelled “so??” To the entire room. Myself and the other patients were surprised and silent, then I asked her if I could just get an ETA and she yelled back that staff doesn’t get there until 11am (9am now) and that she didn’t care. My colleagues are in nursing and ER so I understand the frustration, but the cussing out and hostility directly to my question was unnecessary.

I took my daughter to the ER. Met with utterly indifferent medical staff who didn't bother identifying what the problem was.

If I was able to give zero stars I would. My husband took my one year old daughter there and waited five hours without any type of care at all. Everyone was rude, unprofessional and incompetent. Do not take your kids here. He waited and waited but after so long without care left. No tests were done nothing while our baby was so sick.

Please don't go here.

Horrible Horrible Horror nightmare! ER, just horrible!

Damien Halbert

Went with a rash and stomach pain. They did no examination, and gave me morphine (pain is an important diagnostic tool for abdominal issues). After getting some morphine, I was ignored. It didn't take long for the pain to return. Did they examine me, finally? No. They sent in some lady to lie to me about the problems of marijuana, and treat me like I was drug seeking. At least I got to laugh in her face. They took my time and my money for nothing, except to accuse me of drug seeking. They said I must have a blocked colon, something that is easily tested for, without testing. Maybe they should have just started with an exam. When I went to Fort Drum's clinic the next day, it took them 5 seconds to recognize my rash. It was shingles. I feel silly for not recognizing it myself, but it was at a odd angle on my back and I couldn't see it.

Stevie Savoie

This hospital is an absolute joke. They don’t even follow standard procedures. I have requested to see the House Supervisors MULTIPLE times this visit and have not seen him/her.

Joan Smith

My mother had a recent visit to the Samaritan Medical Center. I would just like people in our community to appreciate what a wonderful facility this is. The entire staff was very efficient, especially the nurses. She lives in Massachusetts and kept commenting how wonderful they were to her here. First class job!

Christina Kitchens

This hospital is the worst hospital I've ever been to. They are rude and inconsiderate.

Sharon Questel

Staff is under to much stress and responsibility to focus good and complete care of the patients

Misdiagnosed. Went to ER for an xray of my foot. After the xray the PA told me that I had a sprain and there was no fracture. She let me know that the radiologist was going to look at the xray in the morning and if they saw something different they would contact me immediately. I was to start putting weight on it the next day. Left the hospital with an ace bandage and crutches. Went back to Buffalo the next day as I KNEW it was more than a sprain. I had another x ray and am now in a boot for 4-8 weeks with a fractured bone in my foot.

CMG

I think they are definitely failing in giving care in a timely fashion. Shouldn’t be any reason someone sits in the ER for over 3hrs. And not be seen. The board members need to review the “RCE” program because it’s a BIG FAILURE!!

Janet Lochner

They were so helpful and courteous. They did a great job in the ER. Thank you!

Rita Cannella

Very caring and attentive staff????????????????????

Do not go to the ER for an emergency. Take the time to drive to Carthage it will save your life!

Brittany Chandler

If I could give a zero I would horrible hospital maybe one or two ok nurse pland on being here all day no matter what the reason super super slow

Michael Wilson

Er nurse was so rude she couldn't get a iv if her life depended on it stuck girlfriend 3 times will never come back here again

darren porter

I have been in this Er since 755 pm it’s now 145am and I’m still in the waiting room. The security officer are playing games on their phone. People are leaving but no one is taking a bed. A gentleman who was in a motorcycle reck wasn’t seen for 7 hours. What kind a BS care is this. I drive farther for to another facility in the future. However I’m sure I’ll be billed even though my time isn’t valuable to them

Carlos Martinez

Horrible turn around time to be seen at the ER for someone bleeding internally, attitude from staff just for asking simple questions. If you people hate your job so much here then go find another career. And you expect Soldier's from on post to have to come here, what a joke. On the 27th of March 2018 between 1100 and 1500, you had my wife waiting, you put her in a room to make it look like she was going to be seen, but didn't get seen. I hate how you treated her and pretty much didn't care about her because no one made an attempt to see if she was ok or anything. In the time it took from us to get there and left other patients were seen and then left before us and you still had more patients being called back and still left before my wife was seen. Once my wife was in so much pain and couldn't take it anymore, she wanted to leave, when we walked out the room to talk to someone, you all acted like we were not there and you didn't care, but as soon as one nurse finally decided to say something to the doctor, that's when you wanted to come over and my wife told the doctor she couldn't stay anymore because her pain was so bad, and wanted to go to Carthage ER. The doctor was so quick to kick my wife out without any care or question but to be seen would of taken us more then 5 hours." Thank you for taking care of the military's family" you bunch of crooks.

Ariana Maxwell

If I could do 0 stars I would, this place is horrible! I am in the medical field and this place incredibly dirty with wrappers and nurses leaving stuff everywhere without paying attention. My husband sat in a room and we got forgot about. Went and asked for a blanket and got completely ignored. My husband is throwing up every 10 minutes. I am surprised this place is even still open. I was sitting in our room listening to all the medical professionals gossiping about patients. Just a horrible place.

Family member (wife) in ER with heart condition and wouldn't let her husband (me) in to be with her due to BS Covid rules even though I have been fully vaccinated. Its no wonder people will make the journey to Syracuse where patient care is first and foremost. All this hospital cares about is the checkbook. It appears to be a common situation with this hospital after reading similar reviews of similar situations. It completely appalling to think that a family member has to go through a crisis like this alone, any family member not just mine. Imagine if it were a staff members family in that situation would the rules apply to them, highly doubtful.

Marquise Turner-griffin

Terrible terrible HORRIBLE health care workers. You could have chosen any field and chose the most important one to be the least empathetic in. Horrible healthcare providers, if zero was an option I’d choose it.

david berlund

Sat in a back hallway for more than 7 hours waiting to be seen by anyone.never did get seen. No nurse, personal came and checked on us at all. A mother and her small child were there even longer than I. When I inquire when I could get seen I was told" sir this waiting area is for those not with covid". This is the reason why this county has so many covid releated deaths is because of this horrible tragedy of a hospital. No one and I mean no one should be treated like this, this is an absolute tragedy. All in all after waiting 7 hours I never did get seen by a nurse or doctor. This staff could care less for your well being this is a joke.

James Holtz

Wife was in the ICU/ PCU. Saturday it I requested to speak to her Doctor at 9:30 am, the Nurse who was outstanding notified the Doctor and the response was Ok I will be there. Had to keep asking throughout the day. Finally 2:30 I had to leave, asked the Nurse to at least ask the Doctor to call me. As I was leaving the floor the Nurse ran after me and informed me the Doctor would be here in 5 min. Why should I have to beg to talk with her Doctor? Sunday I waited all day to speak to her Doctor, never saw one. The Nurses are fantastic but understandably have limited information. My recommendation would be to go to Syracuse if at all possible. This place is so unprofessional.

Cody Goodwin

Ridiculously unorganized. I've been waiting 3 months for a test to determine what caused internal bleeding. They can't seem to understand the point of appointments and keeping them. I get there - it was rescheduled without my consent or knowledge. Tired of it. I'd prefer to just die and not know when or how at this point than deal with their bureaucracy.

Mercedes Dilone

Jessie Gayner

Awful awful awful. Slow, don’t come in if you want to get out in a couple hours

The emergency department is a joke. Sat for 3+ hrs still have not been seen. Watching other people come and go after us. People before us have been here longer and are still waiting. The hospital and emergency department need a major over hall on their personnel and procedures on how they run the departments. Would rather go syracuse than here.

Went to Samaritan for blood work on Feb 18, 2016. The staff at the reception desk were very good. They took care of everyone right away, and directed people to where they were supposed to go pretty well. That was the highlight of my experience there. I was there for blood work for a doctor I was seeing, who was part of the hospital and already took all my insurance information, which probably took them all of 3-4 minutes. So thinking I was going to be called straight into the lab I sat and waited. After about an hour someone called my name followed by #3. I stood up figuring it was me, but I saw the woman who maybe called my name was already walking away being followed by another patient so I sat back down figuring that was the Michael she was looking for. After about 2 minutes my name was called again so I looked at the woman, and she didn't give me any indication it was me she was looking for, and she turned to the reception desk and said something to them. She called my name including my last and I knew it was me she was looking for. I stood up and she gives me a look of "I was calling your name, whats your problem",gave a big sigh and rolled her eyes at me! Being taken aback, I looked at the guy at reception, and he said to go to window #3 for registration. I've unfortunately had other unpleasant experiences at this hospital (the ER), and having an employee roll their eyes at me was enough for me to say forget it, and I left. Here's a tip for management at the hospital to think about: - Have the registration people wait for the patient to stand up, make eye contact with the person, and say "I'll see you at window #X". Don't just say the patients name followed by a number and then walk away without acknowledging the patient, and expect them to know what to do. The other negative reviews aren't wrong. One of the worst Hospitals out there. The ER doc I had an unfortunate experience of dealing with in 2011 was horrible. Certainly not all the staff is rude, but this hospital has more than it's fair share.

skye valerio

One of the dirtiest hospitals I have ever seen in my life. Dirty used tissues in the hallways. Went to the bathroom and the soap dispenser fell off the wall when while using it. They called my name and I walked out. Oh yeah, lets not forget about the used exam gloves right at the entrance door. Gross....

Rich Sen

Every time I have been to the ER they have messed up somehow. When I had covid and had to go on two different occasions, the doctor that seen me doubted that I even had covid, even though I already tested positive elsewhere. Then he could barely get an IV in my arm. Then I was diagnosed with double pnuemonia while there as well. Had to go somewhere else to get proper care. A year ago my step dad went to the hospital for chest pains and a numb tingly arm. The doctor told him it was something to do with his stomach. A week later, he was still in pain, went back and found out through another doctor that he was actually having a heart attack. When my wife was giving birth to our daughter, we talked to the nurses in theaternity ward and they even told us to avoid the emergency room at Samaritan. With all the bad reviews you guys get, maybe make some changes. New and more competent doctors managing the ER would be a good start!

Riley Simpson

Labor and delivery went amazing. Posted a review a few weeks ago that was negative and I couldn't have been more wrong. Amazing staff and they made the process as easy as possible

The care in the Ortho floor is amazing. The nurses and doctors are very knowledgeable and friendly. The ER staff is also very friendly and caring. Samaritan is doing a great job.

alyssalewho

The worst hospital I have ever been too .

Stefanie Schlientz

Was just pushed to waiting room to waiting room for 2 hours and then when we finally got in a room, waited for 40 mins. When I went looking for a nurse, I found 2 of them on Facebook. We walked out after that. Horrible patient care

E36 Pico

Worst ER ever.

Horace Warren

Linda Dake

I have never had a problem there they are always very nice and polite to me. I have never really had to wait too long to be seen

Emily Manigo

I had my daughter here 8 months ago , it was a fairly good exprience . Nurses were great , but were a little overwhelming about breastfeeding after the birth . Other than that I had no problems. We have went here a couple of times over the course of 8 months , and still no bad expriences .

Emma VanVoorhis

Terrible security staff team

William Mcconnell

This place is the dumbest I am more capable to do their job than most of them my finger was severely infected n they said they could do not hun n I needed to take antibiotics when I was already on them n a month ago I finally got it opened n drained n then pulled a fishing line stitch Knott n all out of my finger from a ten year old surgery n I was refused to b seen by the ortho docs bout it as well they lucky I'm poor n I still have the blue stitch to prove it now my finger is doin much better thanks to myself n my ability to do medical as much as I know anyways

Chocolate Daddy

Worst experience of my life. I’ve been waiting in the ER for 12hours, there’s no doctors available to see me

laura gonzalez

This is literally the worst hospital I've ever been to. Not only are they rude they don't know what they're doing. How dare they play with people's lives!! Never again will I go to this hospital, I'll be going to the one in Carthage from now on.

Kathy Watson

It ok hospital food not great not bad ether

Donald Hanson

Laura Barney

The level of care provided is concerning!! None of the providers seem to be on the same page. Some of the nursing staff while other nurses are very rude, condescending and do not have patient's best interest in mind!!! I would prefer to have myself and my family members treated where there health is #1 priority!!

This is the worst hospital I've ever been to! I gave birth to my daughter here , 90 percent of the nurses don't know anything and are very rude! Only one that did know anything was Stephanie jones . The nurses after I gave birth told me my daughter should only be eating 0.5 ml !! That's not true , they told me to stop giving her formula after that ! Complete idiots . She had really high bilirubin level and they waited 5 days to put her under lights !!! They also said they couldn't give me any more pads or medicine when I had one package of the pads and no medicine at all!! They're horrible !

William Folsom

I have never had any bad experiences with staff or testing being done. Always been fast and friendly

jonathan Lara

I've visited this hospital multiple times. Each time hoping to receive more help then before. Unfortunately this location disappoints EVERYTIME. DO NOT TRUST this hospital. Took baby daughter to this location and was told everything was okay, made a visit the next day to a hospital 30 mins away instead of Samaritan. We learned that our 2 month old had an actual problem going on, yet Samaritan guided us to go home with no worries. DO NOT TRUST THIS HOSPITAL WITH YOUR BABIES

Riley Mefford

I give no ⭐️ After we waited 3 hours they misdiagnosed my wife (without even checking her out) and told her to sleep it off, but when we went to Carthage she had an IV blood work, X-rays and surgery. Our room was nasty. Overall this place should be shut down. I’m filing a complaint with the New York State Department of Health and going to look into mal practice. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

Mary Murphy

Samaritan is the worst hospital ever. I used to work at Walmart and started having seizures. The EMT'S were called and I was taken to the hospital. Once there the nurses(if you want to call them that) took all the IV's out and would tell me that I was faking it. They would argue with me and my parents. Never go to this hospital if you have a choice. They don't give a crap about you

Jesse Pettus

Worst experiences in my life. What's the deal with the rude people in pre-registration when you call? Power tripping much? Only good experience I had was in the lab. Whatever you do, don't call.

Brittany Yangilmau

K. Alf.

I have a chronic illness and have spent my fair share of time in the local hospitals and other medical buildings. Samaritan is surprisingly accommodating for emergency stays and general maintenance care and their rooms allow for visitors to stay overnight in most cases. Their er nurses suck but the regular support staff is usually pretty apologetic and the knowing of shared frustration eases a lot of the annoyance of spending four to five hours for a simple answer or a decision of admission. However. This being said.. smc’s Registration department is completely incapable. I used to never have an issue getting into routine bloodwork in a relatively normal amount of time, recently it has been close to an hour and a half long wait..forty five minutes to an hour of that just to be registered. This is ridiculous with so many employees just wandering around socializing. If you’re going to avoid work at least take it to a break room.

Fred Merritt

The ER is atrocious my mothers been sitting for over 10 hours waiting for a room . Staff does not return calls .I would not recommend this hospital

Taylor Parker

This place is horrible! I got there at 1! Didn’t get in the room till 2:40 got a lot of testing done 5 o clock rolls around & they tell me it’s gonna be 2 more hours for my results!!! & I still waited over that 2 hours for the results!!! Don’t go here they are the slowest emergency room I have ever been at! I recommend Carthage!

Penelope Tanner

On March 8 I went to the hospital for a total hip replacement. I had to be there at 6am. I registered and about 10 minutes later they came out to get me ready for surgery. Things went right along like clock work. The nurses got me ready for the OR everything came together perfectly. The whole OR staff visited me before I went in. My husband and daughter were with me until I left for the OR. The whole staff were friendly and very professional. After the surgery my care on 5 floor Pratt was fabulous. The staff again were very professional and attentive. They went above and behond the call of duty to make sure my stay at the hospital was comfortable for me. Thank you 5th floor. Dr Baird was my Dr and I can't say enough about him. He was very attentive before and after my surgery. He made sure I had everything I need during my stay. Thank you Dr Baird for believing in me and your special care. I would like to thank the whole OR staff for all their special care and making me feel so comfortable before my surgery. If I missed anyone thank you to you also. I am 2 weeks post op and feel great. Penelope Tanner

Maeve

this hospital killed my mother. they neglected a heart condition that killed her not even two weeks after her last visit. they just let her go home. beyond that, with the acceptation of a single nurse and a single doctor, their staff are beyond neglectful to their patients and make suffering worse. they ignore chronic illness and write off autoimmune diseases as “the stomach bug” if you want to live past your visit, go somewhere else.

stephanie bernal

This place is a joke there is a male nurse or practioner who hate his job is always rude. They lack empathy and bed side maner. My most recent frustration is my 8 year old son waiting 3 hours to be seen after falling from a slide and hitting his head after calling to speak with the nurse supervisor pretty much told he is alert now he is ok. So I asked then I take him home and he says I would advise against that. Then saying they will see him when they see him it is almost midnight . Trust me try urgent care every time before having to go to samaritan. Unfortunately urgent care wasn't equipped to treat him so he is sitting suffering cold tired and in pain if he wasn't hurting he would be asleep. But that tells you he is awake and unable to sleep for a reason .

Erin Fennessy

We love the staff at Samaritan NICU! Kind and caring and went above and beyond for our son during his stay. Their doctor, Dr komar is by far the best we had to deal with, we had to go to 3 different nicus during our ordeal. Such a great environment and supportive staff members. The administration at the hospital was amazing to us, any issues we had were taken care of quickly. We are forever thankful to them

Amanda

Labor and delivery staff went above and beyond, very accommodating. Great experience!

Jack Stephenson

Who hires your transportation driver's? I had a samaritan transportation van push me into oncoming traffic! There were 2 lanes of traffic and the lane your van was in was blocked by a fed x truck. Without even looking your driver swerved into my lane, almost hitting me and forced me into oncoming traffic. When I blew the horn at her she shrugged her shoulders and pointed at the fed x truck. Maybe she needs a refresher course on how to drive. When something blocks your lane you must stop. Duh.

Doioko Santos

Wait is too long. Second time in this hospital with different kids and still the same.

Dave Van Allen

I recently had foot surgery at Samaritan, and my experience could not have been better. From the surgeon to the anesthesiologist to all the nursing staff, they were absolutely top-notch. A couple of the nurses even went above and beyond in taking care of me after surgery, getting me something to eat, and loaning me a walker. Very clean facility, competent and professional staff.

aunt sue jackson

I recently had a total hip replacement at Samaritan, couldn't have had better care. This was not the first surgery I have had there and I have always had good care and attentive Doctors. Some of the bad reviews are for non life threatening situations, thats why we have urgent care centers. When your taking up Doctors and nurses time to treat minor problems, you should be prepared to wait.

Kim Pound

I cannot believe this hospital is spending thousands to redecorate again when they cannot even staff their hospital properly. Every time we go there we have at least a four hour wait and the staff is mean and nasty. They Treat everyone like they are drug seeking. Also we get told every time. We don't have enough staff today. This is ridiculous! My daughter went in for chest pain and the next thing you know she is being prepped for appendix surgery when she had pneumonia and never even had appendix problems. Never once did we say she had abdominal pain!

shaneice williams

Samaritan really needs to review their phone system and phone etiquette. I can only say I spoke with two respectable receptionist..sadly going here or calling is like a hit or miss Smh

merissa stout

I had my baby boy at this hospital. The delivery nurse was amazing and the man who delivered my baby was to. They saved my son's life by know exactly what to do when the cord was stuck around his neck. However if you are going to get an epidural make sure that it's not from one of the nurse anesthesiologist. The man who did mine poked a hole in my spine and spinal fluid came out and i got spinal headache. They fixed it but the man who did it pretty much was just going to send me home. Now in a great deal of pain and it's hard to take care of my son. All the nurses and staff were amazing and very supportive. A little dirty and no hot water in postpartum room.

Donna Mac

I recently had to have orthopedic surgery and chose to stay in Watertown rather than travel to Syracuse. This was a very good decision and I am so pleased with the service I received. The Surgeons, Nurses and all staff I interacted with while at Samaritan were very professional and took care of my every need. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing to have a surgical procedure. It is wonderful to have such a facility in my own community. Thank you for all that you do.

CAROL R BALLANTYNE

Very good experiences with labs, other testing & surgeries, and the physicians connected to Samaritan Medical Center. And the ER as well.

Shawna Czerwinski

I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.

Michael Archer

The staff here is the most unprofessional in the area. If you're military don't go here. You have options, don't let them full you.

Kaycee Tantillo

This place is absolutely horrific!! I go in to the ER with flu like symptoms. I'm 6 weeks pregnant as well. They take my BP and temp once I get there then I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. Once I get called back I wait in a triage room for another 2 hours just for a PA to come in not do anything but say they THINK I have an upper respiratory infection and that they can't do anything because I'm pregnant. All they did was write me a prescription for anti nausea meds because my nausea is "obviously morning sickness" then sent me home. I will NEVER go back to this hospital EVER again. Worst place I've ever gone to.

11BangBang

Came in to get checked out after an accident around 8 it is currently 1:20 and ive just been sitting here waiting nobody’s came out to see if i was being seen or nothing This hospital legit is the worst one ever i would never come back or recommend this hospital deserves negative stars

Chev Palo

Came here during my pregnancy due to excessive bleeding. The ER doctor confirmed that I was having a total miscarriage. My husband and I were devastated. The ER doctor was pushing for a D&C (to remove the remains) but the OB on call was busy so it was decided I would pass the baby at home. We told family members about the bad news. Well the very next day I went to the OB for a follow up appointment for my bleeding. Turns out the baby was fine and dandy! I'm actually 7 months along now. If I would have done that D&C that night, I wouldn't have been carrying my child today.

Troy VanDyke

Santino Perrone

6 hours waiting in the lobby at the ER. After getting dropped off by ambulance. 1 doctor working the night shift... at the ER. No pain meds could be given to me.. even by the nurses.. Left in frustration since they said it would be several more hours to be seen. If I'm going to suffer. I'll at least go home and be in my bed with some dn advil

Patricia Raymond

They need to improve their ER. I find it hard to believe that a medical facility that takes care of military personnel and their families is so incredibly incompetent. My niece is there right now. She had gallbladder surgery yesterday and woke up this morning in serious pain and bleeding. Naturally she went to the hospital where they pretty much dismissed her. The nurse who changed her dressing did so WITHOUT gloves on. While it was full of blood. Put on your mask, no support people can come in with you..but let me take off my gloves. She wound up back in the ER not even an hour later. You mean to tell.me there is no GI person who can see her??

Crystal Mercado Beyer

Where do I begin... with the first visit or the second ? Either way neither is positive. This facility needs a surprise visit from the Joint Commission. The nursing staff in the emergency room is lacking in basic nursing knowledge and lack the ability or desire to properly advocate for their patients, especially children and lack the desire to uphold nursing as a profession. As a registered nurse I am well aware of minimal standards of care... hand washing (not done), monitoring labwork on patients (not done), nursing staff aware of radiological results (not done), least invasive procedure (not done)... what do the emergency registered nurses do at Samaritan Medical Center ? Why do they not know basic ER skills ? Why are the nurses so harsh and abrasive? Daniel Bell was my daughter's nurse and she REFUSED to speak with me multiple times. If a nurse refuses to speak to another nurse (who's child happens to be a patient) this only tells me that the registered nurse LACKS nursing skills. Karen (charge nurse) was EXTREMELY RUDE and my daughter verbalized that she was scared because Karen's verbal communication was harsh in tone. The charge nurse's reaction should have been how do I remedy this issue and what can I do to improve patient care... this was not the case instead she became defensive when challenged by another nurse (non-staff member) and took her anger out on the patient. We were forewarned that any visit at Samaritan Medical Center (SMC) would not be positive... two visits at SMC and both visits involved unnecessary invasive procedures, rude staff that lacked empathy toward the patient and disrespect toward the family dynamics and lacked basic medical care (I'll be asking for a breakdown of the medical bill).

Eric Blanton

Called the emergency line that they swear they will call you back if you leave a message. Called 4 times left 2 messages and no one ever called back. My wife ended up going in and staying in the hospital for 5 nights. Everyone seriously takes their time around there and is very dirty and unsanitary. The only reason I'm leaving 2 stars is because my wife had surgery to correct the issue and it went successfully. I dread having our child here.

omar mckoy

If I get injured, I will take my chances of being transported to Syracuse for treatment than get treated at Samaritan Medical Center. The service is horrible and the customer service is virtually nonexistent. Two nights in the hospital waiting for a MRI to have a gallbladder procedure is beyond pathetic . This hospital is all about milking the insurance company and putting bandages on wounds. The Hospital Director or whosoever is responsible for the daily operations should be fired for incompetence.

km kopchinski

Phenomenal emergency, surgical & nursing care. Everyone from medical to services staff, to included the housekeeping, transport & dietary personnel. 3rd floor, (pediatric floor, adult section), best care in the entire world. I spent 18 days, and was treated like royalty. Thank you Samaritan!

Marianne Seal

Dr. David Flint they need to clone you! By the book and genuine with your patients. The first Dr. at Samaritan I have encountered that I can say honestly earns his title. These stars are for you.

Butch Baker

There are a lot of people at SMC working very hard to give the best care to patients. I think it's unfortunate that some people have had a poor experience. We've seen providers at this hospital several times and found the care to be very good. Our son needed to see Dr. Rodriguez, a urologist a few months ago. He diagnosed the problem accurately, and just as important was very reassuring to our anxious child. I saw Dr. Flint for a respiratory condition and he called me to inform me my flu test was negative. We had a difficult pregnancy X2 and both healthy children were delivered at Samaritan by Dr. Cohen.

Jubilee Olah

Staff is friendly. Can be kind of disorganized though.

Chevorn Campbell

Worst place ever!! I visited March 26,2021 on a concussion injury and the nurse that treated me told my guardian/NCO that I was faking it because there was nothing on the CT scan, followed up with military doctors and there was in fact something after I hit my head and bussed it open. These staff members judge you and call you liar so they don't have to finish their job. Wish I could give 0 star and I pray I never have to visit back this place. Nurses here are a joke they spend more time gossiping than working

Cindy Arquiett

This we is ridiculous. Been here with a family member for 2 1/2 hours and still haven't been seen. I personally will not use this er because of the uncaring nature if this place. When the nurses call a patient in they stand in the door way and he'll. Very difficult to hear but at least they don't have to come far. This place is a joke.

Sarahi Yescas

Please PLEASE stay as far away from this hospital, anything is better than coming here. The nurses that care for you are rare. Please for YOUR SAFETY, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Owner

Sent my daughter home three times saying virus...didnt even look at her rash, let us wait in her office for 1 hour 45 minutes for strep and flu test while she was chatting outside about her trip to Sackets harbor..walked out and went to carthage er....45 minutes in and out and she has scarlet fever. Don't waste your time and go to carthage ER...absolutely amazing doctor and nurses...sweet fast and caring

Amy Burleson

I was admitted immediately with a head laceration. I sat for hours, bleeding. After review of my impeccable insurance, I was forced to have an CT scan. After 12 hours of waiting, I was almost released with my open head wound. I had to request for my wound to be closed. I received a huge glob of superglue, that obviously had some animosity behind it. I implore you to avoid this facility if you have the capacity. God Bless.

Laura Medina

Doesn't even deserve one star... The worst care I have ever experienced in an emergency room. What kind of hospital sends you home with a 103.8 temperature. Disgusted by this facility. I wouldn't take my dogs here.

rafael delrisco

Terrible patient care. They just want to get you in and out as soon as possible. Make the drive to Carthage!!!

Christine Crump

I am not sure what happened to this facility but they used to be top notch. Now the staff is shotty and do not follow through with anything that they promised that they will do. Not only can't we see our loved ones but when they shoved out the door because their insurance says we can't pay for your care anymore you would think someone would contact the point of contact to make sure that the discharge instructions were given and not completely ignore the patient.

Shell Riesel

This place is always packed the waiting is usually over 2 hours.. unreal.

Love Math

Reginald Frank

I recently had to visit the ER for an eye problem, they did my vitals and within minutes I was having all kinds of test, luckily it was determined what had happened and sent me to a specialist, Dr Flint and all the nurses on duty the morning of July 17, 2018,were the best and very helpful, not once was I neglected or ignored, those nurses are hard working girls and to me the best, once again thank you to Dr Flint and all the nurses, you're the greatest, don't worry about negative reviews people have on here, some people complain no matter what, but I was very happy and satisfied with the service I had, keep up the good work girls.

Sheila Place

I needed help and I found the nicest staff and doctors who were there 24/7 if I just wanted to talk!! Thank you so so much!

lana bales

worse hospital I've bin to.

Anthony & Michelle Nemec

Worst hospital I've seen in 30 years and 6 states. 7 hours in the ER waiting to be seen. I could have done home surgery following YouTube videos and got better results. Seriously don't go here

Mary Almand

This is the most worse hospital for care I have ever seen in my life. My brother went in today with so much pain. It was so bad that he was sweating and having dry heaves. They found out that his bladder was blocked as far as they could tell. He could not relieve his self. But the worst part about it is that they sent him back home knowing that he could not urinate. Now they're telling him he needs to come back in the morning for more test.My question is why would you send someone home that can not urinate knowing there going to be in pain again. This is dangerous! MY question is why would you send someone home that can not urinate knowing there going to be in pain again. If anything happens to my brother over this I will be posting more information on this site if i lose my brother because he was sent home. This is a very pissed off Big sister in Va????

Jackie Russell

We have been there twice in the last 3 days and neither was not a good experience at all. Rude employees, nurses with no bedside manners and the triage process was unbelievable the second time.

Q Jones

My boys were sick with some type of food poisoning.... even my son choking and vomiting in the waiting room wasn’t enough for them to move with urgency!! We waited for hours to be seen and there was NO ONE in the waiting room ahead of us. As we waited, at least 8 patients were discharged from the back. Then we had to wait just to leave the hospital because the nurse kept “hanging out” in the back. When she finally came out to give us the forms to sign stating that we’re leaving before receiving treatment, she was so nonchalant and didn’t care. I understand when the hospital is busy but it was not. This is the THIRD time I’ve left Samaritan ER and gone to the Carthage’s ER. Carthage has WAY BETTER service. Though it’s a smaller hospital, service and care are way better. I done with Samaritan’s poor service.

Romnie Lirola

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever taken my family to. We have been waiting for a doctor to see us for over 3 hours. The staff is so unorganized that the nurse that came in to our room had no I idea why we were here. Also I can here nurses outside our patient room talking about other patients information which is so unprofessional. This hospital is a joke compared to others don’t bring your family to this hospital I highly discourage it.

Jamilah Smith

Can't stand this place .

Diana Shaylor

My family has always been treated very well.

Steve Jackson

I received a bill from SMC for various services. Upon calling SMC billing department to inquire about this the woman I spoke to was not willing to listen to me or reason with the situation at all, we are talking about charges totaling $800. Plus. I should ONLY pay copays. Upon mentioning to her that these amounts weren’t pilled correctly, because I have excellent insurance company and shouldn’t pay this much. Upon calling our insurance company I was correct and SMC DID submit the bill incorrectly. We should not have to deal with this and these kind of insolent people.

Thomas Lloyd

I had back surgery shortly after they started doing elective surgeries again. It was a very positive experience. My surgeon did a great job. The staff from housekeeping, dietary, and nursing were all very kind and professional.Great job everyone.

Dale Adams

Place needs to look into the definition of emergency. The place meets everything opposite of immediate attention. That’s really all I can fathom saying so far. Really hope this hits home and someone does something I’ve been watching my best friend writhe in pain for 2hours at the er waiting room. And as someone who is paid flat rate I wish I could get paid to chat and sit on my phone I’d be a millionare

shane barr

They take to long in the Emergency the females like gossip when they need to be taking care of their patients i have been in the room for 45 minutes and still haven't seen a doctor. Will update once I do see a doctor, o by the way todays date is 07/19/219

I agree with the other poor ratings about the emergency department. Incompetent doctors, Incomplete work up, missed symptoms.

So, I had surgery today. The surgical team is awesome! They were very caring and really made my experience less stressful and I thank them for that. Everyone I dealt with seemed like they like their job and I appreciate that. Also Dr. Humes was great and actually listened to me and is very thorough. Thanks again!

I would give this "hospital" a negative star or 10 if I could. Went in recently to get bloodwork done and was told they "couldn't honor the paperwork, but I could call my dr to fax over new work" which my pcp also said was a lie. In the times of covid, I watch the first check not wearing disposable gloves....wiping the same probe from one forehead from the next after placing the thermometer on a bare table top, quickly wiping with what was hopefully an alcohol wipe and using it and putting it back on said table without a wipe down after using. She also had 0 gloves on and barely used sanitizer between people. Then to the reception desk where they bare handed paperwork. They didnt wipe down between people. Saw patients being called on and no wipe downs of chairs occurring.... just disgusting.

Terrible place, unfriendly staff.

The nurses for the most part have been very helpful i Can’t complain been a good experience but then when my friend was dropping me off when I was bringing my girlfriend food after just having a baby the SECURITY GUARD comes and bangs on my friends window and questions our presence very rudely and very unprofessionally. Bigger male with his other SECURITY GUARD buddy who begins to look into my friends car and give us dirty looks younger security guard with black hair younger looking Really ridiculous to be questioned and treated like I don’t belong to see my girlfriend who has just given labor is extremely upsetting at least could of approached us in a professional manner 03/23/2019

I'd give 0 stars if I could!!! Rude nurses in the ER and horrible horrible hospitality! Not to mention missed diagnosis and the inability to answer a simple question without being hostile, rude and full of attitude. Go elsewhere!!

Dianni

This place is absolutely horrible. My sister-in-law is 38 weeks pregnant and she was dilated 3 centimeters with excruciating pain and sent home 3 times with just Tylenol. Then while switching hospitals the doctor was quick to say “I’ll see you now” just so they won’t lose out on money. Also wouldn’t give her name. So unprofessional and lazy. This place should be shut down immediately. Wouldn’t recommend going here at all.

Lois Adams

I had knee replacement surgery and received excellent care and compassion. My surgeon was great and all the staff was outstanding.

Kim Stine

my husband is in there now since Sunday and I have been told by 3 different nurses the doctor will call me on his condition. I have heard nothing! Now I'm told he has to sign a release of information before I can talk to the dr. Right now he doesn't even know what freaking year it is and they want him to sign a ROI Ready to scream at someone. this place is a joke

Terrible. Everything about this hospital. The staff rude the doctors are slow. I could of made it to Syracuse ER an be seen quicker. SAMARITAN NEED TO CLOSE

Michelle Zeitlin

First time going here. I was taken straight back, nurses were so sweet. My doctor came in super quick, took care of pain right away. Doctor even came in after she saw me with stickers for my girls. Nurses and doctors went above and beyond to make sure was ok and made sure pain was under control before I left. And even gave me a partial on meds because all pharmacies were closed when I left.

I had surgery this year at the Samaritan Medical Center an was very happy with the care i received. The medical staff was on top of anything i needed at any time.

Robert Seybolt

Their medical care is really good along with the nursing staff. However their billing department has issues.

I Had My Daughter At 22 Weeks And 3 Hours Before She Came They Said Your Going To have Your Baby Today But She Won’t Live. I’ve Seen Babies Be Born At 22 Weeks And Live, They Didn’t Try Or Even Try To Send Me To Another Hospital They Just Sat There And Waited For Her To Come And Die. I Lost My Baby Girl And They Hospital Didn’t Use Any Effort To Keep Her Alive. I Hate This Hospital And I Will Never Go There Again And I Font Recommend Anyone Else To Go There

Kathryn Miller

If I could give them 0 I would. They left me throwing up till it was black blood. One of the male nurse's grabbed my arm so hard he left a hand print when I asked him to wait for the IV till I was done throwing up. You all should be shut down. You are the sorriest case of a hospital ever.

Macy Fogt

Slower then a v6 mustang

Robyn Tyree

Had to wait 6 hours.. then left. 1 Dr. in the emergency department is unacceptable. Find another place to go.. you could die waiting

Chris Schell

Very rude nurse. My daughter, 21, was throwing up, on the verge of passing out, limbs going numb, had a hard time breathing. Her boyfriend's mother took her to the er and a nice nurse let her stay with her until I arrived. I was with her for quite awhile until some other fat nurse who needed something to eat, came in rudely and told me I had to leave. I realize 21 is no longer a minor and you have rules, but if she passes out or has a seizure and hits the floor, it's on you!

Chrissy Rose

They gave someone in my family that has seizures , medication for nausea that CAUSES seizures. So that’s nice of them. She had kidney stones and the nurses were accusing her of making herself throw up, when she wasn’t she was in so much pain. They told her she had only 1 kidney stone, but she learned from Carthage that she had 3 and one was blocking her kidney. Samaritan hospital needs better nurses, and doctors.THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

David Exume

If you’re dying don’t come here, imagine coming to the ER for help just to end up sitting around for 4hrs to not even be seen or be spoken to by any staff, just left alone in a waiting room to be with your pain and suffering, if I could give 0 stars I would, for the time I’m staying in the watertown area Samaritan will never see me again

Alison Doane

I have had tons of negative experiences here. If at all possible, go to another hospital, like Carthage Area Hospital.

Chuck Gorman

I had an accident yesterday resulting in a large cut and severed tendons to my right forearm. The professional care I received from ER to OR through recovery was exceptional and kind. Thank you all!!!!!

Colleen Volmut

We arrived at the ER at 11:30 pm on July 8th 2019 and it is now 6:04am on July 9th and I have not seen a doctor yet I am ready to walk out. We have been up all night in the waiting room

Joshua Brown

I waited too much (4 hours and some minutes) they did not even make me a CBC .

Isaiah Dennee

They need to speed up process because they take forever

Rachel Repp

So..... i am giving this dump 1 star, if possible i would give 0 stars. Went in because i had extreme abdomin pain. Told them my pain level was at 10 which of course is the worst. Was the only person in there mind you......So after sitting there for 3 hours in this tiny little room tucked away in the back corner the doctor (Dr. Schiff) comes in, i am in udder pain trying to tell him about it which then i get a response from him and i quote " are you just going to complain or tell me what the problem is" so i ask for another doctor because no descent good doctor would say that. He walks out the door gives me the talk to the hand sign and says you are going to wait for a bit, after 3 hours mind you. I up and left and would not recommend anybody go to this place unless you want to be stuck in a room for 3 hours listening to the nurses chit chat, swear, and talk about their lives. Go to carthage or the bay, at least they care.

Kimberly Dugdale

0 stars would be best. I broke my foot and was brought to Samaritan. They get me there and tell me they don’t think I broke it but sprained it. NEVER gave me Pain meds not even Tylenol! Well it was broken and they handed me pain meds to take home to get me through up to 3 days to see another dr. Fml! Top it off they didn’t even put me in a boot but a shoe. Told me if I misplace the bone more I may need surgery but don’t worry it’s ok at the moment, but here go walk on it. They also put ice directly on my foot. No casing so it doesn’t freeze my foot solid. Damn thing was super cold. Helped though but that’s the only positive. Plus the X-ray guy was nice.

Ariel Tyler

I appreciate the measures that Samaritan has gone to protect themselves and their patients from COVID however taking someone into an environment that terrifies them and not allow their emotions support be there with them is bull. How do you help someone by forcing them to be alone and scared instead of allowing them to have their voice. I used to love this hospital but over the years some of the staff has gone down hill and at this point I don't think any of you actually care about anyone but yourselves.
