You will be able to see all the information of real people who consumed the products and services of Humber River Hospital (Hospital) in the territory close to Gananoque (Canada).
Right now this firm receives a score of 2.5 stars over 5 and the rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings is weak, and it's based on a large number of scores, so we can conclude that the valuation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Hospital is classified in the category of General hospital.
Tonight my elderly step dad who has dementia was brought into emergency after a bad fall. Due to the injury his dementia symptoms worsened as we waited many hours for the doctor. Emergency room was packed. The nurses kept coming to check him. Eventually he became violent and a team of nurses, security and police had to assist. The staff and security were so caring and compassionate. Even the person doing rounds to clean brought me kleenex when I cried. With all that was going on they really showed a lot of care, even though my step dad screamed and tried to hurt them. I don't usually post reviews, or share personal stories, but I just really wanted to thank the emergency staff for their care and compassion, even those who are not healthcare providers. In the middle of a pandemic thank you for keeping kindness in the care you provide. It really meant a lot. Stay safe.
All the staff at Humber River have been very friendly and professional, except on Friday, Sep 22, 2017. I was for follow up visit the day before, on September 21, 2017. The Doctor, wanted to do blood test and C-Scan. The booking lady left the appointment for Monday Sep, 25. Then she called back because of busy schedule it was re-booked for Oct 3, 2017. No Problem. On Friday, 22 Sep, around 9:30, I had a phone call, recorded message, that I have an URGENT appointment for same day 12:00PM. No explanation at all. Called back as I was in Peel at the moment, They only said it’s very URGENT. At 11:30 I was at Cardiology, and the Front Desk Lady was very helpful, to investigate, and find out that I was scheduled for C-Scan, as I had no clue what was called for, what was the URGENT. Went on second floor, checked in at 11:55AM, and waited outside. Around 12:15 PM, I was called in, and waited inside. Around 12:45, the nurse, Ellen, prepared me for the C-Scan, needle on the vein, signed some papers, she explained the risks, she never mention anything about eating or drinking, I learned that after when I re-booked. I waited in room for another 45 minutes, with needle in my arm. At 1:30 I went to Ellen, asked if I have to wait any longer because at 2:30 I had to leave, no matter what, I have to pick up my son, 6 years old, or she can tell me so I can make some arrangements, call my wife or someone else. She said I had to wait in the room and she will let me know. She never came. At 2PM I had no choice, I spoke to another Nurse, I explained to her that I had to leave, 2 hours waiting, when is URGENT, and I had to go and pick up my son. Ellen got upset??!!, why I was talking to another person, and was mimicking me, behind my back!!! Then another Nurse came in almost screaming, trying to scare me, that I might DIE if I left and re-booked the appointment. And calmly I told her I was no Rude to anyone, but as a father, parent, it would be no problem if I Die and not leave my Son alone. I’m sorry I might sound harsh but even animals take care of their children! !) If you call people for appointment, please don’t leave only the time, and Humber River Hospital, please explain the reason, what a patient has to do prior to the visit(Eating, Drinking…), and which clinic he has to go( FYI, I still have the message) 2)If you are busy, over scheduled, is not a problem, but please notify people, so we can make arrangements. 3} Being rude is not an option, and please do not provoke people, I think she wanted me to explode. Sorry, I’m better than that. 4) Do not have fun with patients. 5)As i found out from Treadmill Cardio stress test, Technician started the test and i was slowly running, he came back after 30 minutes. He said he forgot to record the test. I run for another 30 minutes, and quit. This messed up was discovered when i received the medical files from WSIB. Technician wrote i did not finish the test!!! This is easy verified by the time i checked in. There are cameras all over. May god save us, as if we ever, god forbid, get in life threatening situations, we might end up for experiments.
Exceptional caring and compassion from the ER nurses and doctors . Thank you . You are all angels.
triage They discharged me at 12am from hospital which is against the law! We didn’t have lactation consult at hospital, baby didn’t have hearing test at hospital which all of them made us lots of problems after! Discharging nurse was so aggressive, they didn’t teach me anything just gave a booklet and left me alone with first new baby!
I split my head open and the Doctor was more focused on being funny then removing my stitches. When I arrived the day it had happened a Doctor said she did not care if I died. When I asked why the 6hr wait. This is why they have to settle for low pay. They are always rude.
Bad hospital my dads skull was fractured and the doctor there was making fun and not taking it seriously. Soon we will sue that doctor because now my dad is in danger
The building and infrastructure is nice and new but too bad people don't go to hospitals for its infrastructure only. The staff are extremely poorly trained, unprofessional and rude with little regard for the patients' wellbeing. Took my 1 year old daughter there in EMS. After waiting for almost 4 hours, I was told the person that can perform the procedure is not in the hospital and so I was told to come back four days later its not a big deal. Thankfully, I decided to take her to sick kids hospital immediately after leaving Humber River and there I was told it is good that I brought her right now otherwise it would've been infected which could've been seriously harmful for her. The procedure, registration and everything else got completed in 3 hours in sick kids.
This place is a joke people here just waste the taxpayer money it’s terrible. 5 hours wait to see a doctor at emergency after vaccine bad reaction and end up not seeing one. I really rather pay in a private hospital than pay taxes for a system that doesn’t work when you need it
Visited this place December 2016 had emergency gallbladder removal. Waited 4 hours from emergency room arrival to diagnosis and test results. The surgery went well and i was discharged tge next day. Visited again on March 2017 for acute pancreatitis. It took 3 hours from arrival to diagnosis and 12 hour waiting in the ER to get a bed upstairs. My first nurse was ok she did not answer my bell when I buzzed. Had to unplug my Iv machine and go to the front desk. I asked if the call bell works and I was told it did but my nurse was busy. That left a bad taste in my mouth. What if I was having a heart attack or a stroke? She would have sat there and simply looked up and continue doing what she was doing after i buzzed 4 times in 10 minutes?. This was the night staff at 8west on March 20 2018. During the rest of my stay I had kerry Ann and Marilyn as my nurse. All bells were answered. They check on me answered my questions tried to get the doctor to come in and most of all treated other patients really nice. The doctors there seem to follow up with certain patients while leaving others in the dark. I had a resident doctor who was very helpful. I had no dietary follow up instructions and even though a got a diagnosis the underlying problem wasn't solved. Over all I had a good experience.
Went to Emerge yesterday evening for chest pain. For a Friday evening no long wait. All staff and HCPs (Health Care Professionals) were quick, efficient and caring. Had to wait a while to see the doctor however it was worth the time. He was patient as I explained what was going on, forthright in telling me some of it is my doing and respectful in denying my request for medication he said I should get from my family doctor. Quite a pleasant experience in comparison to my visit in January (for a sprained wrist) when I encountered the most obnoxious, self-righteous piece of work who calls himself a doctor. Total absence of manners and compassion (not that I needed it). He should only work with wild animals! For all who had a bad experience and left negative reviews, I sympathize with you. But, your experience does not reflect the service, staff and HCPs of Humber. It's a good hospital where workers do their best every day (except that one doctor). God bless them all!
Went in through the emergency ward for severe back pain and possibly a dislocated joint. I ended up waiting for 7+ hrs for a diagnosis and prescription. You cannot give this hospital too many bad reviews. The staff and management do not care about the health and well-being of patients and something needs to be done because they service a huge part of the North York area
3 day old baby sitting in waiting area for 3 hours, nobody care!Every time when I'm in this hospital,I have a bad experience! So dissapointed!
Great doctor got some really good treatment ???? ???? wait was long teaches u patience!!!!!
Worst hospital to ever exist. My pregnant wife was in a lot of pain and it took them 6 hours to take blood and a pee sample to then tell us that it was gonna take another few hours just to do an ultrasound. This hospital is the worst. I would never recommend anyone coming here even if its an emergency.
Hi. There is some angle in ( ICU ) 6 floor. She is very good nurse. She was 2 night shift with my brother that wake up from coma ( unconscious) . During that nights she was with smile and every 15/20 minutes she cleaned my brother because he was diarrhea .she did more precision , more kindness, more clean than before time. I never forget SARA and I keep her in my heart forever . Appreciate SARA angel. Best wishes with love.
This is one of the best hospitals in Canada, if not the best. I gave birth here, my husband had knee surgery here, and my husband was treated for a broken foot here. We had nothing but incredible experiences. Our nurses, doctors and surgeons were experienced, kind, and knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious. We are so grateful to have access to a hospital of this calibre. Thank you, Humber River Hospital, you are making a positive difference in people's lives every single day.
As an international student I had Very unpleasant experience for my kidney stone surgery with Dr S urologist. After a long waiting time I admitted for my surgery next day. On discharge day, doctor said Surgery was failed. Need to do second time after 15 days. As a new student to Canada I didn't know more about the surgery. She didn't explain detailed information about the surgery. It was my first time in the hospital in Canada. She used old technique to remove my kidney stone instead of quick Laser treatment. During stent removal surgery she placed wrong instrument in my urethra. She took whole one month to just remove my kidney stone. She only recommended options that would financially benefit her. She needs money only.
I gave birth to my son on Aug 2, 2018. I had a scheduled induction as I was passed my due date. Since it was a scheduled induction it required 1:1 nursing. Being a first time mom I was nervous but from the minute I walked in, I have nothing but good things to say about the staff! The entire team was so calming, constantly checking up on me and genuinely cared! I never felt so safe and comfortable before! My nurse Teresa treated me like her own daughter and made sure ever second I was okay and the OB on staff Dr. Clive Lee was phenomenal, he was so positive and friendly. I want to give the biggest thanks to Humber hospital birthing unit team, THANK YOU FOR KEEPING ME AND MY BABY SAFE! You are truly angels...
Lazy ICU doctors. How does a doctor do rounds via computer just reading nursing notes without going to a patients room or even observing them is beyond me. The ER is just as bad.
I humbly thank the services that my dad has been provided while staying at this hospital. The services were spectacular in attending my dad's needs, and kept him company, and prescribed him the correct medication for his condition. They were not rude when we stayed around for his examination. Say all that you want about bad services within the hospital from all of the bad reviews, this hospital deserves a visit when your in need of medical attention.
Telehealth sent me here in emergency because of my improving symptoms of COVID-19. 6 hours and counting I’m waiting here and there, a doctor saw me for a 3 minutes and he didn’t even listen to my concerns. I’m already sick and didn’t eat, drink and couldn’t take my medicine for 6 hours... awful place. Doctors and nurses are pretty mean too... Go somewhere else!
I was admitted to Humber River Hospital in February of 2018 for Severe Acute Pancreatitis. Very quickly things went downhill for me and I ended up in the Intensive Care Unit for one month. I was on life support for 2 and a half weeks in the care of this amazing hospital. The nurses: phenomenal, caring, compassionate and really make you feel good and like things aren't so horrible. I had nurses who would come visit me even when they were not assigned to me to give me pep talks. Being sick for so long is very draining emotionally but it really helped to have such bright, lovely people reassuring me and my family. The doctors: amazing, talented, educated and do everything in their power to make sure their patients get well. Thank you Humber River staff for all that you did for me and my family, I could never thank you enough. I followed up with 3 specialists who are all doctors at this Hospital, all amazing at what they do.
The worst hospital in toronto from nurse to service. Speacially Nurses are very rude unfriendly. The nurse told me "nobody dies from pain" they tortured me 8 hours for one pain killer injection after day of my surgery (during this time i wasn't able to sit or lie down because they dont give gurney only chair but surgery didnt let me sit) ACTUALLY Canada health system is really bad. From nurse to family doctor nobody does something even they are not eligable to make any basic injection or madison.. family doctors do only appoinment or find specialist but doesnt have knowledge or try to make more money by giving another appoinment. The doctor says you have to come to office 1 by 1 for each even so basic staff. They only think how much they can make over patient
This all happened last year in January 2019. I had a baby girl here at this hospital staff in the birthing section the staff caring, friendly and understanding. Not even with car seat for the baby at the front desk on the floor, but one nurse helped us in the room with baby seat. After they kick you out of the room your just sitting in a wheel chair cause they have to clean the room, when the person didnt even come til an hour later and I was tired and exhausted at that point. And not one nurse helped to assist myself to wheelchair me out of the hospital and my mother since she had to help me with my daughter to carry her out to the car.but once you have to leave they treat you like it's a hotel room.
I have a family member in there and his wife isn't even able to visit just for an hour when ever they decide to answer the phone with a real person you guys are pathetic to say the least and I will be looking into this matter. There is no real person to give u advice just a voicemail that repeats everything 10000 times.
We had a great experience in Emerg there. The staff are well organized, polite, and line-up tickets make sense. Also, I love their hands-free sanitization, sinks/soap/paper towel, and doors there. Very sanitary. …
i had an emergency c-section at humber hospital and the pain was so awful been asking the nurse for pain meds but they refused to give me anything than tylenol and advil every 6 hours that was a horrible pain that i have to deal with while in the hospital been bugging them every 5 hours so that i wont missed my dose coz sometimes they are late guving medications and they don’t understand how painful it is if you missed it for even just for 30 mins. never had that experience when i gave birth at st mikes hospital.
I gave birth 2 weeks ago at Humber River Hosp, it's my first baby, so the whole experience was new to me. I got absolutely the most compationate, professional and detailed care. My baby was premature they handled with so much care. I have to thank the OB nurses Kelly and Katherina who helped me during the labor and if you don't know it it's the most stressful, painful and happiest moment in a woman life. Also I have to thank Dr Lee who delivered my bb safe and sound, and evaluated my capabilities without episiotomy (greatfull for that) and finally thenurses in the recovery room who checked us during our stay and made us laugh and feel comfortable during our recovery time. Joan and her partner. Thank you ❤️ I
Mostly because it’s the best ever!!! Best of the best of nurses doctors and management team!! Take a look and visit the best care hospital in the country and one of the best in the world ????
Its very one of worst hospital, if you go for any emergencies, they will kill you at hospital, I haven't seen like this kind of worse hospital ever, the staffs are dont care about others, if you wants die really go there, i been couple of times there seems stay more then 8hrs no response
Had knee replacement surgery this week... I was terrified and thought it was going to be a horrible experience but it was the total opposite... my amazing orthopedic surgeon Dr Chan and his team are the absolute best, the nurses on the 11th floor were wonderful, so friendly and professional and made my stay a truly great experience and I can't thank them all enough. I will have to have my other knee replaced, but now I know what to expect and know I will be taken care of by true professionals who care about their patients.
Went to get an abscess lanced. Hospital itself was nice , but the staff - not so much. The receptionists were fine , the one that gets you signed in was really nice but the doctors and nurses are rude. The doctor that served me told my mother and I that she had a cold , and then a couple minutes after coughed and sneezed without even covering her mouth?? The nUrse!! She was just rude in general.
Went ER on December 2nd 2021, waiting over 11 hours to get results, doesn’t seem busy maybe low staff? Or unorganized. 1 star cause I had to wait over 11 hours without ever being told how much longer in the emergency room. Staff are nice.
the worst hospital in canada! Stay away as the doctors there don't care about your health. Please do not go to this hospital.
Sister's finger was fractured and she had to wait for 5 FIVE Hours to get treated! Truly unpleasant and inexcusable. To think that she's an experienced nurse who came to Canada only to experience very unprofessional health service.
Worst hospital!!! Worst staff!!! They don’t care if you’re dying they make you wait hours! Been there with a friend for a minor pain and they made us wait 13hours!! WORST HOSPITAL!
For every hour I had to wait for the doctor to see my family member ONCE, il remove 1 star. Oh wait I can't go less than one star oops.
Misdiagnosed people. Not the first time this has happened here. Avoid this place if you can.
This place is less a hospital than it is Hell's waiting room. I strongly believe that the staff here just think that patients come in to pass to the next life. This place would do the community more good if it was torn down and turned into a brothel, at least then it would bring in some money. Do yourself a favour and go downtown to a real hospital if you're concerned for your health. Just stay away from St. Joseph's too.
Worst ER I have ever been to. Zero compassion and takes way too long. Here for possible concussion. Said I need a place to lay down and they refused. Staff are short with you and could care less. I will never come to this place again.
Most of nurses and some Doctor and security guard their attitude and behaviour are poor . So rude! So disappointing that a healthcare professionals are behaving like that
Dont ever risk your life going to the emergency department of this hospital. Pathetic nurses with terrible attitude and service. Waited for 2 hours with severe abdominal pain . Their ticket clearly states that time will vary based on your clinical need which is completely lie !! Stay away from these scammers
Wow where to start. My schedule Surgery on March 30th, 2021.. Was cancelled while I was on the operating table???????????? !!!..???????? I went to my pre-screening on the 24th. Was told by Humber River Hospital on the 24th I don't need to do my Covid-19 test, because policy states within 90 days the results Will remain the same given no symptoms. There was and is no symptoms. I also got 2 different calls from 2 different Humber River Hospital employee on March 25th and 26th telling me they have canceled my Covid-19 appointment as policy states 90 day. I was within the 90 days and don't need to redo the test.....the test was book and scheduled for 27th, 2021 between 3 -4pm Surgery Schedule for 1400. I arrived at 1200 Checked in and was put on I.V and given 4 different kind of pills to take to ready for surgery. Surgery before running late which was fine They didn't get to me until 1500. At 1537 I was taken off and out of the O.R room put into a room for over an hour waiting for a special Covid-19 test that should I was told it takes 15 minutes. 1 hour later am bring told CANCELED can't do it. Hospital Policy!!!????????????????my heart was broken I cried. I was in the hospital for 4 and 1/2 hours reach the Finish Line could not go over. Am still waiting on the hospital to get answers to how and why this happened.
Had surgery and was in the hospital for 2 months. Received great care from all my doctors, nurses and rehab staff. Very professional and caring. Room was cleaned daily and in general a very good experience, as far as hospital stays go
I gave birth at Humber River's birth centre and I had a great experience, especially since I was hoping for a home birth at first. I had a c-section with Dr. Sterling and she was amazing! The whole medical staff (doctor, nurses, anesthesiologist) made me feel at ease and comfortable during my stay. I stayed at the hospital for 36 hours and the transition between the nurses during that time went smoothly. They provided me with great care and advice during the first few hours with the little one. We also had a private room which was great!
I visited the neurologist on Thursday, the first thing he said to me ..is that I must take my shoes off. Mind you I was there pertaining to my wrist. Then he said the unthinkable take off your mask who had that right to demand one takes their mask in when it's mandatory we are are told to wear one.. He said give me the mask let me put it on your things ,which were on a chair. My purse. I gave him the mask due to respect, but was very upset...the so called doctor took my mask and threw it on the chair where all sorts of people sits. I ask him how could you just took my mask I have to put on my face and just three it on a chair, and with that being said I jumped off the bed I was seated pick my mask up and put it on after wiping it with sanitizer and sat back down...he relaxes his shoulders like he was mad that I went and took my mask...his reasons were he is wearing on so I didn't have to be....it's my mask my face let me be..he should of taken off his.. I almost walked out of there and forget about him attending to me... unprofessional. I trust no ONE.
I took my mom to emergency.... We reached at 11 am and they kept us waiting till 4 pm before the doctor could see her .... What's the point in taking a patient to emergency dept. If they cannot be attended on time ....this is worst than a banana republic country.... Shame on such a health care system
ER & ICU at HUmber River is terrible. Don’t take your loved ones here.
Emergency service absolutely lowest of the low. Take your loved ones somewhere else. I lost my father due to their negligence. I've requested investigation from the hospital administration. But, please take your loved ones somewhere else where there people are treated like humans and with care.
I've been really trying not to say anything bad about health care workers but what I experienced in emergency yesterday scared the heck out of me. Children with broken arms, people in pain and an old Karen yelling at the nurses stepped in front of a 5 hour line. People who cane in ambulances with sprained foot put ahead of me. There is no priority sequences. The emerg is run by nurses that look like they just graduated. I've seen more organizations at McDonald's. I've been trying for 2 days to speak to someone in charge.
I would prefer to give zero stars if I could. This hospital has got to be the worse in all of ontario. No sense of compassion or care is given from any of the hospital staff. I had two family members in the ICU that were being treated for covid-19 and based on the care they received or lack there of, you would swear they would rather people die than give them any help. The nurses and the doctors work with no sense of urgency whatsoever. I’ve witnessed almost all nurses on the ICU floor on their cellphones, while patient monitors were lit up and going off like a christmas tree. Doctors only appear in the mornings and give a 20 min update after reading nurse reports that was provided from the following day. I’ve heard nurses yell and lose their patience with elderly patients over the silliest of things. I’m grateful that both my family members are out of this hospital and transferred elsewhere. Otherwise, they would be left for dead. If you could, go elsewhere.
HUMBER RIVER HOSPITAL words can’t be described of how gratifying it is to be admitted at the 11-th floor of the facility. From Porters; Food Services; the Environmental Services; Lab. Technicians; Diagnostic Imaging Technicians; Nurses & Doctors. All these are involved in my recovery phase. Caring with a touch of true compassion. As I will be leaving/ or discharging tomorrow ( GOD willing ). With a grateful heart. THANK YOU HUMBER RIVER HOSPITAL.♥️????♥️????♥️
Jan 4 2019 12:30 a.m. went in with severe abdominal pain. Triage sent me to Ozone. Nurse with the well painted face was rude with everyone Told me I looked fine despite my pain level of 10. Blood work don't at 3. Called at 05:30 to a room and told a doc will see me shortly. Doc came in at 08:30 (new shift started) given narcotics pain meds at 09:30. Asked to move by walking to another waiting area with narcotics running through my veins despite my protest. Sat in that secondary waiting area drugged up for 30 mins. Admitted and sent to a room at 2:30 pm. Humber River hospital where people go to die.
Terrible Hospital, very rude staff, incompetent staff with very little experience. I took my wife there to give birth. At some point they left us a lone for more than 6 hours, the nurse stopped monitoring her and the baby, monitors were beeping non-stop. Eventually when we were discharged, they wrote the wrong weight information for my son. As a result his birth certificate was delayed to verify his information. We contact the hospital, again staff was very rude and unhelpful. Terrible Experience.. This is a hospital from a fourth world country ...
A short and Simple review for this Place. Don't come here if you have any Emergency. If you have lots of time, sure you can come here. And here some Nurses and security guards are really needed to have proper training and Manners for how to talk with Patients and Visitors. They make this place totally Avoidable and Helpless... Trust me, some are really nice Doctors and Nurses but some.. wish I could file a case against them.
Going to any emergency is not a pleasant experience in any hospital in Toronto, whether it is pre-COVID or during COVID. The only thing that would make your experience good or bad is how the staff treats you. Wait is always a pain, over and above the pain of one's condition. After waiting for six hours, I saw Dr. Malcolm and she was amazing. She even had to wheel me into the examining room herself! Everybody is overworked, but they try their best to make things easier on you. Thanks Dr. Malcolm for your care.
Worst hospital ever, all the nurses just gossip about each other IN FRONT of patients, they’re very rude and make snarky comments to patients who are clearly sick and in need of some help.
Would have given it 5 stars if not for the lengthy wait time to be seen by a doctor. Required stitches for a cut on my thumb, waited almost 3.5 hours to be seen. However, once seen it did not take long for the stitches to be put in and the doctor did a good job of explaining any relevant information and answering my questions/addressing my concerns regarding the stitches. The coordination between the nurse staff and doctors didn't seem to be 100% but it wasn't a complete mess either. All in all, I would be comfortable going there again if I have to.
If there was 0 for this hospital I would definately put that! My sister went to the ER and waited after having asthma and was advised she had pnemonia with a high fever. After waiting numerous hours around 10:15 pm. The most unprofessional, ridiculous, horrible doctor took blood work and told my sister that she is "wasting healthcare dollars" because she took bloodwork. She didnt even check her properly nor did she care about what condition she was in because she could not sit up. First of all, why hire doctors when they dont want to help there patients! I hope someone higher realizes that patients come to get treated. Not to be told dum things! Train your Doctors! Definately would NOT recommend this hospital to ANYONE. Dont go here and waste your time!
In the afternoon of Saturday, February 1, 2020, it was my first time. The atmosphere is very spacious and clean. Thankfully, the sanitization station is at the entrance. (I made sure that I took a good amount.) I was glad that I made a nice visit to a dear friend of my family. After a good prayer, I felt peace and hope as I exit the room. ???????? Multiple routes are very to this hospital from TTC: 41, 165, 96 Plus, the GO Transit has a stop near by with multiple routes. Prayer: Jesus look in city, forgive our sins & heal the lives of your people. Your will be done AMEN
This was their fastest , most convenient and most professionally organized hospital I've ever been to in 29 years of my life, nurses and administrative workers processed everything very rationally and the Doctor himself, vcant remember the name, did an amazing work on my injury, TAX money WELL SPENT. More hospitals like this please.
Humber River hospital is the worst run hospital on the planet they sentenced my father to death by putting him on the covid19 floor after he contracts the virus but wait..11 days after he was admitted.. no covid any more.. that's all I can really say my lawyer will fill in the rest no one with any authority is present on the weekend to speak to or it's a lie either way we will find of eventually....discrimination that I have never felt like this before disgusted.. please reply if u had the same experience maybe we can collaborate..and start something here....
I have nothing positive to say about this hospital. Security has a power trip.... left my daughter in pain ...... give parents attitude...... worst hospital I have ever been to
I was being treated for covid this past week. Thanks to the excellent support from nurses and doctors, I am now back home with my family. They were attentive and caring and I appreciate their hard work!
Never come here for asthma. They don’t care if your dying and can’t breath they will Make your wait HOURS with a MASK on making it HARDER TO BREATH. Staff on shift In the Er on Halloween are busy having fun and eating candy to care when we tell them our symptoms are getting worse and literally cannot breath .. staf is a joke and hate their jobs
A brand new, shiny hospital but still the same people. We had a terrible experience when my previously healthy 96 year old mother broke her arm and leg. Having this happen during the Covid pandemic made things worse as we weren't able to see her. Following her surgery we were continuously harassed and bullied by doctors and social workers to get my mother out of the hospital even though at the time, long term care homes were closed and dealing with covid outbreaks. According to the Ministry of Health, hospitals were only at 60% capacity since all surgeries had been cancelled so hospital space was not an issue. The only real option for my mother was to stay in hospital but the pressure never stopped to take her home which was totally unrealistic since she had 2 strokes while there and needed a lot of care. Still, the harassment never stopped. My poor, elderly mother was afraid they were going to kick her out. There were only 2 people who treated my mother with kindness and respect: a nurse, Victoria and a social worker, Leslie. My father died at the old Humber River Hospital 13 years ago and it was a similar experience for different reasons. Shame on you. I would have given 0 stars but it's not possible.
I recently had surgery on my clavicle by Dr. John Townley. This was nothing but a first class experience—right from the initial pre-surgery assessment through to post rehabilitation. Thank you to the HRH team, you guys are awesome!!
This hospital is the worst! If you're poor and black don't go here. Brought my 7yr old in. She had a head injury and a seizure, I waited 4 hrs in the emergency room with my child, then was told I wouldn't be seen for a while. Mind you, it was already past 1am. Are you kidding me? How is a lil Asian kid with a cold a priority over my kid with her forehead busted open that had a seizure? Then they wonder why she's never been to that hospital. The lady in triage forgot half of my info and then told me oh I forgot to put that in. Mention it to the doctor because it's very important...really? Very unprofessional and inefficient with all the 'modern' equipment.
In September 2018 I suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. The Emergency Admitting department fast-tracked me and had an emergency cast in place within a few hours. Returned next day to see the orthopedic surgeon who advised that non-surgical treatment is best, and they replaced the temp cast with a removable boot and explained course of treatment. Nurse even suggested an alternative to crutches (iWalk) which greatly helped my quality of life during the healing process. Overall a very competent and efficient team treated me.
Had a great experience with Dr. Gill in the Emergency department. We couldn't figure out what was happening with me but he was determined to find out. He ran a bunch of tests and asked a bunch of questions and was genuinely concerned with finding a solution for me. Best experience I've had in an emergency room.
I had very painful experience with those people working in this place. I went to labor room to give birth to my daughter. One yelled at me that be quite, the other gave my new born baby a bottle of milk without asking me. My baby didn't want my milk for 6 months trying hard to give my milk to her. I don't call those people nurse, they don't deserve this name. I am a midwife from Iran. My patient all have good memory from me because I know how to treat with people in pain. Thank you
Unprofessional staff who gossip about patients and terrorize each other towards to patients. I think camh is slow as much as them but at least they are more professional.
Went in for hip replacement surgery. Brand new facility, and therefore better than you can find downtown. Doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and administrative staff were all excellent. Even the food was good. Still hospital food, but on a whole other level from what I got in Mount Sinai, Toronto General and St Mike's.
I just went for a test it is the hospital I go to do all my medical work they are a state of the heart hospital that was built to replace the old ones the staff are helpful and is fully prepared for covit 19 all is done for people to have a safe visit .staff they are also community minded and as lots of work in the area where they are at keel and 401
My recent surgery at Humber River Hospital was excellent. Every single nurse who looked after me from intake to discharge were diligent, caring and I can even say sweet in a very positive vibe. I am very grateful for all their care.
We were in room 420(baby delivery). Every time they came and asked ..is everything fine. Even manager came and asked... it's caring.. and rooms are so clean n huge..wonderful service.
I was in the Emergency room to check some health issues I have..The staff at this hospital are Amazing and very helpful . Thank you so much for all the great service I got from the Emergency services staff. This is one of the best hospital in town
Please do not put your loved ones in this hospital, you will 100% regret it! If I can give this hospital no stars I would! Absolute worst hospital ever! The nurses do not care about any of the patients! And they’re absolutely disrespectful! My aunt was at this hospital and was not well taken of! They do not change diapers regularly, they DO NOT CARE FOR BED SORES PROPERLY! They are not gentle with patients! They never rotate the patient who are bed bound so that they DO NOT get bed sores in the first place! And Doctors are not compassionate at all!! ABSOLUTELY AWEFUL!!!
They are either understaffed or they don't know how to prioritize. You're better off going to another ER room, as you'll be waiting 4 hours in this ER.
Recently had our baby here. The team that helped me deliver my baby were fantastic!!! ❤️
Oriental lady, skinny built, mid 30s at the ER is the last person to go to for help. Its people like her that should have thier practising licenses revoked. She has no interest in patient's health and she's doing it only for the money. Lacks peoples skills, has no respect to speak to seniors.
This is a great hospital. I had a great recovery here. Shout out to the nurses on the 10th floor. The room accommodations were amazing too.
When I went to the hospital for my surgery, I was really skeptical about its quality and service because I’ve read lots of bad reviews on its website but after spending two days in it, I gain a very positive opinion about this hospital! Everything was great, all nurses were kind and they cared a lot about patients need them. The hospital was so clean and I really had a great experience in this hospital.
Slowly improving....Little bit faster times, but not yet in 2019.
Had the worst experience today at the hospital. Went to the X-ray dept to register for X-rays, clerk sitting in station #1 asked me where I come from...now what kind of a question to ask someone. She then said go to the tablet and enter your info, she was so rude, not even a welcoming smile on her face. I was then called to station #2, here the clerk said to me you are not supposed to be here, I handed her a req from my doctor, so why tell me I am not supposed to be here. I also informed her that I phoned ahead of time and was told I do not need an appt for X-rays. I then questioned her comments, so she said "I shouldn't have said that". She said you have an appt for a holter, I told her I know that and it is not until 9:40 am. Anyway she was helpful in the end. Some of these staff in the registration department up in radiology dept are so rude. After my X-rays, I proceeded to the cardiology clinic for registration. I checked in at 9:36am and was registered at 9:46 am. The registration clerk directed me to go into the cardiology waiting room and someone will come and get me. I sat there from 9:46 am to 10:45 am and no one was coming to get me. I then got up and asked a tech in another room why was I not called, I was only there for a holter since 9:40am. She then took the papers from me and went to look for the person who had to do the hookup. That person (the tech) kept asking me if I went to emergency, I kept telling her NO. She then showed me that on her computer it showed that I was booked but not attended. How can that be when I was registered. What a mess and dysfunctional. I thought that moving into a state of the art hospital things would be better but not so. If staff are not trained properly then it is a failure on the entire organization and poor management as a whole. I also witnessed an old lady in a wheel chair who was also wheeled into the wrong waiting area, a staff who was looking for her came into the waiting area and said "we are looking everywhere for you, they put you n the wrong waiting room". This I think is totally unacceptable not for such a state of the art health care as HRH. Management needs to review their systems and processes in place and have the right personnel in the right position. We as patients needs staff who are friendly and greet us with a smile at least, not a sour face and rude tone and body language. They should have clear signs letting patients know they have to check in with the tablets in the designated areas. On Wed, Nov 1, I went for a breast screening and bone density, these were scheduled appointments. Registration informed me I was only booked for breast screening and not bone density, I informed her I booked them both at the same time. She then sent me in for the breast screening, on arrival inside the tech informed me I was not scheduled for that only bone. What a mess, she had to call for an order to go ahead to do the screening.
Terrible hospital lyour health and life will be in danger ..poor patient service they not really care..poor nurses service and some doctors..terrible!!!!
Makes you use an electronic kiosk to sign into ER room. An absolutely insane way to deal with patients. Find a better walk in ER room if you can.
Having visited the emergency room a few times this year, I would gladly return to this hospital. 9/10 staff are very polite and helpful with a few impolite ones. Dr. Sharon Sharir was the biggest problem. She was rude, unknowledgeable and overall unpleasant to be around. The triage nurses were always very helpful in bringing wheelchairs when needed and providing proper priority.
Worst service I have received in my life. My mother (77 years old) was in the hospital enduring pain without receiving medical attention for more than TEN HOURS. After been seen by a doctor, she was sent home without on treatment at all. This is the last time I or any of my family attend to this hospital.
The xray technicians were kind and professional, as were the nurses. Patrick Tansey examined my fractured knee, but while I was asking a question about how to care for it he walked away without saying anything. I checked with a nurse and my appointment was finished. It is unacceptably rude to walk away without saying anything, especially while I am in the middle of a question. On another note, he told me to go to the x-ray room but did not add me to its queue, so I waited an extra half hor there. In general the appointments seem disorganized, as my appointment for 9am required registering for another appointment, and waiting nearly 2 hours total to be seen. With COVID, it is just not a great time to be in a rather crowded waiting room for hours.
My husband and I are at this hospital and have been waiting here for 3plus hours without a doctor or a nurse to check to see if we’re okay. My husband has been in extreme back pain for hours and know one can anything about it. Further more it’s not even busy. No one is in the waiting areas. But yet we’ve just been sitting in the room for 3 plus hours. The service here sucks. I think they should hire more staff or people who actually want to work.
So, I'm going strictly by my first hand experience only despite other experiences. Took my senior dad in for gul bladder surgery and everything was perfectly executed. He was explained everything, nurses did an awesome job, surgical team was flawless Bravo!!! I have just one concern.... The hospital screened my dad for covid19 and instructed him to stay home 3 days before surgery day which he did. The problem is they DID NOT ask to screen myself who drove him to and from. I found out I was exposed 1 or 2 days prior to taking him to the hospital and therefore contagion was possible. Luckily, I was negative. Food for thought.
Everyone treated me very well but their is one doctor his name is dr kyle waldman he is anesthetiser doctor, he is one with who i had very bad experience, he gave me anesthetiser for my Csection and on the same day he visit me 5 to 6 times for his payment i had c section my husband was in the bank to withdraw money but in few hours he visited me 5 to 6 times. I had c section and i have to be in the hospital for 2 days but still he was insecure for his payment either other doctors was very nice to me.
It's been 8.5 hours since I arrived and I'm still waiting for my basic test results. Definitely do not come here if you can avoid it
I usually bring my son who is now 2 years old to do his blood work at Sick Kids because I have severe anxiety and I know they are 100% experienced with children. I decided to go here instead because it’s closer and easier to get to and I trusted them and boy was I WRONG for doing so. They stuck the needle in my sons arm WITHOUT even looking for his vein, then complained they couldn’t find it after the fact. I don’t think they realize how TRAUMATIC this could be for a 2 year old. My sons veins have never been hard to find and he is very fair skinned so this nurse clearly had no clue how to handle a baby. He also made my sons father sit in a chair to hold him which by NO means works when you have to hold a child down. My son should be laying down and restrained from arms and legs. I will make sure to tell all my mom friends to stay away from here as me and my son are now completely traumatized from this experience. Now I also have to bring my son for bloodwork yet again because he didn’t do what we came for. Absolutely ridiculous and horrifying experience
This place is horrific I would never come to this hospital even if they paid me.
I choose to this hospital often as I have 5 children 4 of them boys who play sports. Although waits are sometimes longer than I would like, every staff member and doctor I have had the pleasure of meeting has been nothing but kind, straightforward and caring. People need to remember the staff are people too. They do their jobs to their best abilities and they have to deal with a lot of people everyday. Every single time I have been to the hospital I have seen people yelling, swearing and being rude to the staff. Thank you for always helping me and my family!
Worse place to get vaccinations. ALIA manager is so rude and irresponsible. She missed count. Don’t go for covid vaccine here. Worse place ever
Clean, professional and well treated hospital. People are only reviewing this low because they have no idea how emergency queuing works. The service of the hospital is modern and the doctors, nurses and staff are well mannered and knowledge. I had my emergency procedure here multiple times.
Terrible very long wait. They say its covid and it over whelming with patients, but the truth is that they dknt have enough staff or doctors working in emergency. I see doctors making beds and calling patients into.rooms. ridiculous this is what out taxes are paying for garbage service.
I'm reading all of the reviews here about their carelessness during the COVID era. My wife works there and I am appalled by just how much they don't follow the standard guidelines over there. Her coworker had close contact with a family member that contracted it and was told to still come to work instead of self isolating. She later did isolate after being told to after taking the test. After testing negative, she tested positive about a week later. Instead of getting everyone that was in contact with her tested, they told people to only get tested if they start getting symptoms. Everyone knows that the worst spreaders are the asymptomatic ones. Further more, someone that came back from the US was not ordered to quarantine for 2 weeks
I saw on the news that a man sought medical treatment here and he was asked to leave because they thought he was faking his illnesses due to his mental health issues. He couldn’t walk and was in immense pain. They made him crawl all the way out of the hospital while the nurse mocked him with fake motivation. Disgusting.
I have waited for nearly 4.5h in the hospital which is very long but understandable. The wait time is not caused by the hospital itself but the general medical system in Canada so I can't blame the hospital for the wait knowing that my medical problem wasn't that urgent. I finally got to see a Dr who was so great and understanding, he took the time to talk to me and redirect me to the right medical care outside the hospital. I am hoping things will go well. In the waiting room I have seen a man who was in a lot of pain and the nurse checked his vital signs many times and everything was ok so they didn't let him in before anyone else, although he seemed to be in pain unlike everyone else in the O zone (the non-urgent-medical-issues waiting area?). I just hoped he got quicker help.
To all the nurses on the 14th east floor, Angela, Anna, Bei, Grace,, Jayne, Kwame, Liz, Marycielo, Raul, Rosemary, Alina, Annie, Imelda, Neda and all the student nurses, THANK YOU for all that you do!! A special thank you as well to Dr. Chung, Dr. Lam, Dr. Kuo, Dr. Singhal and Dr. Singh, Lynne and Wendy, this difficult time is certainly less so by the care you provide. Thank you all!!
I had great experiences and also terrible experiences at this hospital. It is illogical to review such a large, complex organization. I will focus on the fracture clinic, where I went several times recently. They were clean and well organized, despite being busy. They have an odd way of scheduling that guarantees that you will be there for at least 90 minutes, but that is normal everywhere. Overall pleasant and at least the waiting room does not blare CP24!
This place is not a hospital, it is a clown circus attempting to look like a health care facility. 8 hours in the ER for something that should have taken 3. They kept needles for getting blood in her for 2 hours and made it so she couldn't move during this whole time. And the kicker, we left without her results because they made her cry multiple times. Absolute incompetent monsters.
Horrible hospital. I had severe lower back pain and they sent me home and told me to use tynenol. I went there 3x. I wasnt able to move the third time and the doctor told me there was nothing wrong. All nurses were in the station laughing and chatting. Horrible to see that when people are in pain. Went to another hospital and they told me I needed back surgery because my disk shifted and I shouldve gone to the hospital sooner because my back got worse. So HUMBER IS A HORRRRRRRIBLE HOSPITAL WITH RUDE STAFF.
This hospital is unbelievably pathetic! We had an appointment in the cardiologist department at 3:15 and didn’t get seen for TWO HOURS!!! Are you joking me?! There were hardly any other people in the waiting room and there was no explanation given for the excessive wait time. Absolutely ridiculous considering we took half a day off work for this appointment. What is the point in making an appointment when patients aren’t going to be seen at the scheduled time??? Please learn to respect people’s time!!!
i gave birth but never saw my child
First thing I would like to say is that if I could rate a ZERO, I gladly would. Firstly, the AMBULANCE workers assigned to this hospital were belittling my husband and the pain and suffering he was experiencing. Telehealth did nothing to help, just said call 911. These Ambulance drivers were like “don’t worry, it’s just COVID. Take Imodium for your stomach and take Tylenol for the pain”. However I insisted in him going to the hospital because he was lethargic and in severe pain. The ER doctor working on May 19/2021 was another joke... he sent my husband home after 7 hours and making him suffer from extreme pains. ALL he did was prescribe OXYCODENE, that’s it!!!! No one took the time out to THOROUGHLY do some tests. I took him to another hospital: MACKENZIE HEALTH in Richmond Hill and they did a proper assessment: blood work, X-rays, ECG and CT SCAN, and THAT MEDICAL TEAM detected an infection in his right lung. THIS HOSPITAL (Humber River Hospital) MAYBE THE MOST MODERN AND DIGITAL... But it has no heart in serving people!

This is probably the harshest of all criticism that I ever had. The Doctor examined me, without using gloves. He didn't wash his hands, and he walked out without washing his hand. This particularly is concerning in this environment of COVID and keeping in mind that we are not talking about some uneducated anti-masker.
The emergency health care service is absolutely brutal! Absolutely no one cares about the patients and their well-being
I have been waiting for the nurse in the same room around 2 hours. She came and ask me what happened and then she is gone, came back after 2 hours and gave me 3 Tylenols and she is gone again. I could have done that at home with put waiting.. I'm. Still waiting for her while she is going around checking at least 5 other persons.. Do our takes aren't enough to pay for more nurses?
Yes totally don't agree with the nurses and doctors laughing and chatting it up. On our time. Was in overnight and could not sleep for all the noise at the station. Pathetic. I thought they were having a party. Definitely need to tell you're employees shut up and work. Supposed to be front line workers , ha!! . Emergency totally messed up no patient consideration at all !!
Went here yesterday to the emergency department, waited 8.5 hrs to see a doctor. We began getting impatient, told the reception if she could do anything and her response was "Other people came here before you". It was no sympathy, no care in the world. The reception at the emergency department are very rude and have no customer service skills. the only nice lady was the registration lady in emergency. The nurses were decent as well, but the doctor was a bit pushy and the reception was incredibly rude, idk who hired the reception but they need to be better. There was no hi, or any greeting, they just said in a rude tone "put your chart there". Not a place i'd want to be staying, It's better to just go to Mount Sinai if the issue isn't too severe. They helped me with my issue but I probably won't go again unless i was close to death.
Great hospital. Went in with a fractured elbow. Was seen quickly even though there busy. Orthopedist was friendly, kind and made sure I I understood everything
If I could give it a 0-10 I would. I give it a 1 because the nurses on 12West were so caring & really wanted you to get better. The ER is a complete mess. No order at all. There are signs everywhere to respect the staff & respect the patients. Well honestly the staff are really lacking. I have never been treated so terrible & rude in my life when I came there because I was very ill & I needed help. A doctor told me in ER hey if you want to get admitted & catch Covid or you want to be an outpatient & get tests done that way. Its up to you. Honestly awww thats not really whatI wanted to hear. No compassion at all. I felt its a meat factory waiting to be called & poked by the nurses with needles. They never really helped me & I was admitted for 6 days but was never given an appointment for a colonoscopy or more tests to be done as an out patient. If I feel sick still come back to Emergency again. I was told by a doctor. I'm still sick they never fixed me at all & honestly I rather die @ home then come back here. The hospital may have good bones in the construction but the guts of it is toxic
They were helpful, its just that there were too many patients.
This hospitals emergency department is a disaster. I went in at 10 am and didn't see a doctor till 4pm in the afternoon. All the nurses could say is we are busy. They had people sitting on the floor and in waiting rooms not even close to the emergency department. I had gone alone which made it even worse, I at the time was 10 weeks pregnant and didn't want to get up from my seat to use the bathroom because I knew for a fact that I would end up sitting on the floor when I returned. It was a painful experience and don't recommend this hospital at all for emergency services. The worst part is they called me a day later asking about my experience with the hospital- they are lucky I missed the call.
Arrived at the ER with my 76 year old mom, waited over 12 hours to be seen as she was in excruciating pain from a massive hernia and was not getting any assistance from anyone. Once registered I was sent to go and wait in room 2 where the staff at the front desk where extremely rude and didn’t really care about any patients. I understand they are tired but they made a choice with there carriers and it’s our taxes what pays their salary.
Fantastic beautiful facility. State of the art building and top quality compassion and care. EXCELLENT! Everyone there made the stay very comfortable and took pride in their jobs.
I was delivered my first baby in humber river hospital once I got contractions I was admitted in hospital early morning 30th July . Till noon 4cm diluted and they suggested to take epidural I took it and till evening 9cm diluted.and they said baby comes soon out.I have good contractions even though they gave some medicine for contractions. Its was continued and next day early morning one doctor came asked me to go for c section and other doctor said you can push baby will come out . At last its endedup with c section . I never expected such things happen in Canada because in my back home only they will c section for money and here too. Still am not digestive how its been happed. Because I don't have any pregnancy complication and regular went for check ups and walking . Am in extreme depression and unable to forget how its been happed .
I lost my grandmother yesterday at this hospital. It's been a hard 24 hours but the staff have been incredible. The nurses were amazing and so compassionate. They made sure my family was comfortable and they mourned with us. They gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes, and made sure we were comfortable (water, Kleenex, extra chairs and plenty of hugs). The doctors came by to give us their condolences, and even the cleaning lady and the patients next door offered their deepest sympathies. My grandmother was a force to be reckoned with and she touched the lives of so many people. Her death seems to have rallied a community together. I am forever grateful for everyone who cared for her during her final moments, and then took care of us as we come to terms with this loss.
my aunt and grandma have both been here multiple times, my aunt with pretty severe conditions & each time they have been given exceptional care. The hospital is clean & modern and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always willing to help. The last time i visited a family member there was surprisingly even better care offered & i was told that they upped their staff so thats really awesome for anyone who is there, you will be well taken care of.
Excellent Doctors here. Care is superb and facilities are top of the line.
Worst dont come here long waiting time. The receptionist are very rude with people as you are visiting for just timepass. Even doctor’s tell people wait and wait until the patient fade or dead. Even the white nurses are very rude with brown people. We are waiting for 1 hour after my mother test doctor patek didn’t come. Even nurses tell again and again wait just wait. Like seriously worst experience dont come here

I respect all doctors and nurses working hard in Covid-19 era, however i have to give thumbs down for one apathic doctor in ER. My wife had severe pain which made her screaming in pain, and obviously that was why she was brought in to emergency room. However I could not accompany her due to recent covid rule. She could not walk by herself nor could seat comfortably due to her back pain, but she had to be in wheeled chair for long time. During the check ups, doctor who was seeing her gave her cold look when strong medication did not work on her pain, saying that my wife should see psychiatrist rather than her(doctor), saying my wife is too anxious. Of course my wife who was in incredible pain at the moment is anxious, alone in hospital in uncomfortable wheeled chair. Such pain she said she rather have child birth.. Her comment hurted my wife, and i could only comfort her through text. Such apathetic person working in ER makes me want to avoid this hospital.
Worse of the worse.... Please request another hospital, my wife is pregnant they made us wait 3 days... To much things adding up, I've been all over the world but this is the worse hospital. Very disappointed in Canada.
Just saw the video of the man crawling out of the hospital because you sent him away in pain.
The Emergency room from hell, they take forever to see people in Emergency. They should've just called it "Waiting To Die". I've been here almost 3 hours and it's gonna be another hour before I can see a doctor. I thought them combining the 3 hospitals was supposed tomake it more efficient it's just a bigger version of Hell. Don't go here unless you truly want to die before a doctor can see you.
Emergency?? … total opposite of emergency.. no sense of emergency at all waited there for so long from 5:15 to 6 am, my son had a 39 degrees celsius fever, he vomited on me and himself and add to it there was only one person admitting “emergency patients” taking FOREVER (15 to 20 mins) to admit only one patient. Do not go there if you have an emergency.
The paramedics and nurses were extremely helpful! They listened to all my concerns, and directed me to a doctor (I was having difficulty breathing). The nurses said they would run some tests and possibly an xray to see what was going on. The doctor that saw me is a different story. This doctor half-heartedly checked my breathing and said my lungs were healthy and sent me home. He did not run any tests or complete the xray. At that point, I was finding it easier to breathe, but I was still wheezing. I think he should have been more thorough with his analysis as I woke up the next day and still am having difficulties breathing.
Birthing unit is amazing, nurses and doctors are so kind, you can see they love what they do, everything is super clean, they are efficient, such a good experience, this is the best hospital to deliver your baby!
They have a very poor customer service... The food they provide to the patients is very cheap... Washrooms are supper dirty... Papers everywhere water everywhere.. Very nasty!!!! I was at this location for mental health.. They have zero greatness
My son - 4yrs had just finished surgery @ Humber River Hospital. Everybody in this hospital is so lovely. Facility is clean and process is so convenient. I could get every single update for My son's surgery thru text message. And Nurses were updating my son's status during waiting in the recovery roo. He was really having fun with Robot Pepper and Car wheels provided by nurse. Nurse was demonstrating what he would have during operation showing all surgery related equipment. My son was trying those with Robot Pepper. He drove car to the OR. Isn't this cool? Thank you all staffs @ Humber River Hospital!!
I delivered my son at HRH and I was very impressed with the staff and the hospital itself. Doctors and nurses were so friendly encouraging and awesome. It really felt like I was in a hotel not in a hospital. Every room was private. I have the outmost respect for the staff.
I delivered my first baby in Sep 2021, Although yhe equipment of hospital like rooms and monitoring us really good and is a new hospital, but there is a very big important thing that is missing! There is shortage of dr in this hospital! Even I had induction and from the day before I was in process of delivery but there wasn't dr to come for my delivery, baby's heart reached to 200 and the nurse did all the work that night ! I was lucky she was good and energetic other wise might my baby wasn't here now!!!!
Really overcrowded, with super long wait times! Not all but many of the nurses are very lazy and rude! They do not want to do their job instead my family has to come and feed and change my grandmother to make sure she is okay. They didn't even give her water and she was so dehydrated ans hungry and couldnt speak to ask for anything! Unfortunately this is the closest hospital for my grandmother so we have no choice but to bring her here when it is an emergency. They also keep trying to send her home when she isn't doing better or well!
Underutilised, impoverished hospital. What a shame! Been over 48hrs and still not performing any surgery. No food, no water, lazy nurses, irresponsible doctor.
The worst care I have received in Canada. Be very careful that to have attention in emergencies you have to wait 4 or more hours! it's supposed to be an emergency.
I love you but sorry - while you're filled with "top level professionals" I'd not trust them to know how to get a cup of water to or bathe an old man suffering from a cold.
This hospital is walking distance from my home. I broke my ankle and got it fixed from here. Love the whole facility how it’s been renovated and nee building is really nice. I would recommend this hospital for long term care as well as it’s newly build.
This is place is ridiculous, doctors walk around like people ain’t waiting, no sense of urgency AT ALL and when you get called you still have to wait for a doctor for another 20 minutes, for a place that takes pride in helping people dosent really show it when you are there and this from multiple visits, doctors act as if we have no choice but to deal with the mass amounts of disrespect is just highly unprofessional and unforgivable. Been here since 6:18 and I’m still sitting here just to see someone fort shellfish reaction
"You can walk big boy"
I gave birth at Humber birthing unit. Wonderful experience. All the staffs are nice and professional. Modern facilities as well. Love it!
Nice new building and facilities. The staff was attentive and provided directions when asked. The food court was ample and the Tims open 24 hrs. The parking garage was well lit and plenty of spots available. Communication from the majority of the staff was clear and recognized the urgency with proper care. There's always one doctor that seems to think nothing is going on but that's the exception, fortunately. The family lounge area was comfortable although the capacity maxes at 8 adults, washrooms everywhere.
They discriminate against patients with mental illness. They kicked out a patient saying he was faking his illness.
If I could give -5 stars I would. My grandmother was a patient in April. Her POA was abusing her powers and refused to let anyone speak or see my grandmother. Threatened her and forced her to listen to her or else. My family called multiple times to the nurse station and begged them to let use speak to her on the phone. For the first couple weeks we could get through and then all of a sudden they started getting rude and wouldn't let us. My grandmother even asked for me and they still refused. I called her social worker/case worker three times and left voicemail with my concerns regarding her care by her daughter, the POA. Never got a called back. They obviously didn't seem to care. No employee there would know the personal issues we faced better than us and they didn't even believe us. My grandmother was removed from the hospital without anyone's knowledge except the POA. We aren't sure if she died in the hospital or at another location. Everyone there who I tried talking to played a horrible part in the abuse my grandmother faced. No one got to see her or say goodbye to her. She died alone without having any form of human interaction outside of the nurses. This hospital is definitely to blame for their part. Do not go to this hospital because you will be treated like garbage.
Hospital is very nice and clean!.. My mom received the best care there. Doctors, Nurses and staff were very helpful. 7east ward.
Emergency Room nurses will Let you rot no empathy Worst care you will ever get However when seen on the floor by regular nurses things change dramatically Don't know what to make of it
(03/31/17) My experience at Humber River Regional Hospital was not good, but not that bad as I never went in person to speak to someone regarding "Family Doctors" accepting new patients...my story begins when I called the hospital using their ONLY contact number listed on their website. I called them approximately around 10:20PM and it took me 3 minutes in total to get no answer about Family Doctors accepting new patients at the hospital...what made this even worst is that the lazy receptionist just transfer me to the Emergency department and after that...NOTHING...no one was there!! The receptionist is well mannered, I give her credit, but she lacks any knowledge about basic information regarding Family Physicians accepting new patients. I rate this 0...but I can't, so I rate it 1 out of 5. This hospital is not good for me and will find a hospital that meets my needs. This one...has low self-esteem staff who are literally dead walking who went to school to get a degree for nothing!!! Not the best hospital...hope the receptionist who was working on that day...at that time...reads this...she should do herself and the rest of the staff, a favor....just end your miserable life, if you don't like your job or career. New hospital...but incompetent staff members with worthless bachelor degrees in their undesirable field of work. Do yourself a favor...don't go this hospital!!
Waited 3-4 hours to be seen (not terrible). Doctor came in, looked at me as like"why do you need to be here?" When asking me general screening questions I was talked over in a condescending manner while answering. The consult was less than 5 minutes and barely followed through on a basic examination. I had some questions for the doctor but I got the notion that this wasn't my place to do this. I ended up walking out of the appointment after he left absolutely dumbfounded. I still am ill and now I have little confidence in the health care system for people in my age bracket (30's). You'll find better treatment at North York General where I'll be going. Avoid this location as if it's COVID.
I went with my 21 years old son last night around 9pm and left 12:30 am which it was incredible fast considering they run some blood work once the results were ready they decided to do an ultrasound and then we were sent home , they sent him some medication and referred my son to an specialist for follow up once they were sure it was nothing that requires surgery or immediate attention. I have to say it was Sunday July 2nd so a lot of people was out of town and maybe that helped but the service was great from the beginning since we got there and got a number my son was called in less than 5 minutes and started to receive attention. The doctors were very friendly and patient they answer all our questions. I was more than satisfied with everything and everyone. Great experience.
Terrible waiting times is similar to every hospital, I think, thanks to our government that doesn't make sure that there's enough doctors. However, yesterday, my girlfriend went to the hospital because she had stomach flu. She stayed there for 8 hours, then today the doctor calls her and says she has to come back to emergency ASAP and that he let the nurses at the front know that she's coming. It's been 4 hours now and she just got registered. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF CALLING HER AND SAYING TO COME ASAP THEN?
This is the treatment a 100 year old veteran received at this hospital. Complete disregard for the wellbeing of someone who sacrificed their life to make this world a better place. If this is the type of respect and care provided to the elderly and other patients, maybe you should rethink your career. Shame on you.
A great place to go when you break a bone friendly nurses set it right, knowledgeable doctors cast your worst fears aside and ultimately discharge you to a happy finish
just thought i would point out the politics involved in this hospital. sitting here waiting over 2 hours in extreme pain. some lady, who happily pointed out to a nurse walking by that she was a nurse off shift who worked upstairs experiencing heart burn. the nurse that walked by said she was “going to check how many people were in front of her”. when she came back, she told her there was only one person in front now. there are people still waiting before me and she got to go first, for heartburn!!! go to a walk in! some people really need to see a dr!!
Back for the third time in three months. Pushed our mother out the first time to a place that was not suitable for her simply because they had a bed immediately available. Did not address underlying issues, resulting in a return to hospital. Discharged again without addressing underlying issues, despite repeated requests to investigate very specific issues with documented history. Now back again, and we are leaving her there, will not visit so they cannot pressure us into actions that are not suitable. Trying to do homework on our own so we can make informed decisions. Can't believe the number of mistakes made. Different doctors providing contrary opinions. Hospital and allied professionals not in agreement with each other regarding a treatment plan, and felt quite comfortable playing that out in front of our family. Took over two months to get one medication prescribed and administered; apparently required multiple professional assessments to make this decision. Parking rates are unreasonable and discourages visiting. Nursing staff on the floor are caring and considerate.
I have been at this hospital for various reasons, and all my experiences have been positive. My Emergency room visits have been short, seen in a timely manner, treated better than some other hospitals. My admission to the inpatient mental health unit was swift, and the care I received there was top notch. I was there for 2 weeks and they helped me through a withdrawal, and got me back on my feet(foot I should say as I was recovering from ankle surgery). This is a good hospital, it's nice having a private room and not having to pay for it.
Our Grandfather had an unfortunate episode on July 1, 2020 and that we had taken him to Humber River Hospital. At the time the doctors/nurses advised that he had fainted due to kidney issues and they’d have to do further testings on him. They then proceeded to do a CT scan and injected my Grandfather with the CT dye. He was only administered into the hospital for 4 hours, but had just died within minutes after being injected with a CT dye. The hospital could not give us a reason why this had happened. Looking further into this, on rare circumstances if you have kidney issues and have CT Dye in your system, this would further compromise your kidneys as there are side effects. Again, the staff could not warn us about any possible side effects prior before giving him the CT dye. A few days had past and we had scheduled my Grandfather’s body to be moved to the funeral home for his viewing. The funeral home advised that when they received the body bag, it was labelled “COVID19” on it and asked if our Grandfather’s death was related to COVID. We contacted the hospital and was advised that the morgue at the hospital had “accidentally” mislabelled the body bag. This was very upsetting for my family as they gave us quite a scare for misclassifying his death as a Covid patient. This hospital may be new, but I would never ever trust this hospital again as the staff just don’t seem to know what they’re doing. I would literally give this hospital a 0/5 if it were possible.
Honestly as a family member dealing with someone with mental illness, it was a really discouraging experience I had over the phone. I called to confirm information on how my sibling can get their medication wondering if things changed due to COVID restrictions and every person I spoke with had no information, kept transferring me to different departments only to finally transfer me to the psychiatric department where the lady was extremely rude, sounded very fed up with her line of work and basically told me she’s busy and doesn’t offer public advice. After giving me very vague information as if I was inconveniencing her.. I hung up. When you think about an hospital you think about people providing the best care and help they can. If you got an education to do this of line work don’t act like people are the burden. I can be understanding and know that we’re all human and things can get frustrating but that was pathetic.
I once had to go to this hospital for an ankle sprain, and my experience was great! The wait was a bit long, but not longer than most hospitals. There's a lot of new technology! The hospital looks great, and has many amenities. I'd definitely come here again (though I hope I don't have to).
Posting for a friend. Hospital may have some bad reviews but not everyone here is bad. Seeing all the bad reviews makes it hard for other’s to realize that there are very good people at Humber and like anywhere else, there’s going to be good and bad people and one shouldn’t clump them all into one. My friends mother had to go here for a stroke and the staff on the 13th and 14th floor are great caring people. Emergency room was also caring and provided timely help her mother needed. Special thanks and gratitude to Nurse Tenzin and student nurses Claire and Amanda on the 13th floor. Going over and beyond the expected care , such human beings are rare and special these days. Thanks again for all you do!!! World needs more people like them.
On October 14 2018 at 5am I rushed my wife to this hospital's ER. It was there that nurses found she had a blood sugar level of 50 and that she was in a diabetic coma. We were told on the first day that we would be moved to intensive care so my wife could be better monitored. We never got moved that day. Instead me and my wife had to stay in acute ER for 2 nights as there was no room in Intensive care. If you've never slept in emergency before.. consider yourself blessed. On the third night my daughter came to relieve me. They told her at 5pm that my wife would be moved soon and that they were getting a private room (as we had asked for it previously and was properly insured). It wasn't until 2am when the porter came to get my daughter and wife and move them to ICU. When they got there, what a surprise it was when they were put into a shared room, even though we were assured we would be getting a private room. My daughter reminded the porter again that they were properly insured and were expecting a private room. The porter said there was an empty room down the hall and went to the team lead, who in turn said that "The room was on hold". My daughter accepted this respectfully and they moved into room with a patient who quite literally had cardiac arrest during the stay. It was day 4 at this hospital and my wife had not been able to get more than 2 hours of sleep since being admitted. I was very angry to learn this and the next day I went to the team lead and asked for a private room, once again they told me that the available room was going to be on hold AGAIN for a pending patient. **So basically they were keeping a room empty for two nights when someone could be staying in it - all because someone else "might" need it.** All the team lead told me she could do was fill out a request and send it to the financial department for me, but the rest is a waiting game. Angry and frustrated, I returned to my wife's room and waited the whole day for a response. Nothing. But then, a friendly nurse listened to my frustration and 'suggested' I talk directly to the Financial department. When I talked to the financial department directly, they told me THEY DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE MY REQUEST FROM THE TEAM LEAD which means they never sent it in the first place!!! The financial lady rolled her eyes upon hearing this and told me this was TYPICAL!! Nonetheless, the financial department did SOMETHING and miraculously, just like that, the room "on hold" was available for us. There was something super political and catty about the staff dynamics at this hospital. Seems like they're politics and drama comes before patient care and that is NOT okay. Please watch your staff more closely, reward those who are working on -call and overtime, and reward those nurses who really care about patients, not those leads or nurses who are motivated by their own intentions
Beautiful new hospital, same service. Some Dr's and nurses are excellent, others have attitude 24/7 and/or they are very lazy. My son was born in this hospital. During delivery we had 2 amazing nurses and 1 uninspired but professional nurse. Only issue we really had was with the last nurse we had after the delivery. She didn't check in at all, I had to go ask her to come check and she wouldn't make eye contact. Seemed like I was bothering her but I was just asking her to do her job. Another nurse came and checked in a few times and she said because our nurse was lazy. The nurse that checked in seemed new but very kind and patient. Overall good experience.
I had a laparoscopy surgery booked for August 25th, 2016 at the West Wing of this hospital. After reading many negative reviews, I was a bit concerned as it was my first surgery ever. However, the very few 5 stars I saw were usually for the new wing. It was an amazing experience. The facility itself is brand spanking new. Friendly and helpful service. The new technology was very helpful for my dad who was waiting and the screen showed him exactly where I was and what was happening to me. Giving him a sense of control and comfort. Dr. Ben Tse was my surgeon. Amazing man. Love his attitude and sense of humour. I had a very fast recovery. My aftercare nurse was a very pleasant one " Sue". Thank you each and everyone. It is a very vulnerable time and every little kindness goes a long way. :)
I had a scheduled mammogram. When I got there with covid cases rising, the entrance to get in was also the exit. Had people getting very close trying to get in and out. I held my breath until I got away from them. My grocery store has better protocols in place. Also when I got into the area for mammogram inside the area where you have to wait and get undressed there was a woman in there with two young kids running around and playing with a balloon. REALLY. It looked like she was just there visiting one of the staff members. The kids had masks but they were down around their necks. Also no one at the desk to take our names and it was starting to get crowded in the admissions area. Disgusting hospital procedures during a pandemic. The person doing the mammogram was very professional and courteous. Nothing bad to say about her as she was really great. Just annoyed by the hospital protocols.
Very professional from volunteers to the stuff. We were served right away. God bless the Canadian healthcare.
Had severe chest pain so went to emergency. Gave me number at 930pm and they did ecg, blood works and bp ..came 130 am and im still waiting for another test and was really sleepy. Advised nurse if i can go back tom and was advised that i have to do the test all over again. She said that they were short staffed and nurses do not want to come to work..told nurse that i cant sleep late and she asked my last name and let me go. I know they are trying their best but too short staffed for emergency and health is compromised!! Be warned. Today Sept 17..im still having chest pains but was so sleepy last night so i had to go homd and sleep. Will call my cardio doctor and see what they say..this hospital's service is for you to experience yourself and write a review after..back next day and waited *10hours for blood works, ecg and chest xray
Good and clean environment with nice staff!
Overall the hospital here seems to be nice staff but there was one nurse (name cannot be found). If I do find her I will report it. But my family asked a question regarding the heart monitor. My grandfather has had a stroke and he could be gone any day soon so when the numbers on the heart moniter didnt show up we called the nurse. She just came over and said it was okay and, "I can see the heart moniter data stats on my screen at my desk"...but all defensive and she just rolled her eyes as if we just bothered her. I immediately reacted and asked her to put away her attitude. She said she had 2 other patients a lot of work. Wow I thought 1 simple question and we had not bothered any one of them. But as I continue writing, this is not what people should feel. As if we are a burden. What happened to caring nurses. Swing that attitude dial to compassion. If you guys want a good hospital please rush over to Toronto. I believe Toronto has better hospitals that are better equipped with professional and knowledgable staff. Some hospitals in Toronto are more specialized in a branch of medicine. Such as St. Micheals for lungs. Etc..do your research
Being 3 weeks in the hospital and staff making you feel that you matter to them every moment you are there is priceless. Thank you to all the staff for your excellent service. This place is amazing and so clean.
Talk about "fast track" what an absolute joke.. 3 hours in and still waiting to even get called. Nurses at desk in Ozone are attitude filled.. Way too lazy to even walk over 10 ft to call out patients names.. They sit there discussing …
Worst medical service ever. Not sure where my taxes are going, paying a private clinic would have cost me way less compare to what I pay for taxes. Waiting time is insane even for a kid with a broken forearm. It took my daughter more than 4 hours for a doctor to see her for 30 second and recommend an x ray, no medication given, then waiting for more than 2 hours after the x ray .. and I'm still waiting till now while writing this review
Great service and very modern
Did not have a good experience. The staff were not helpful or informative , No important information or treatment plan was explained to me. Thanks Healthcare system. Worst medical treatment I have ever had.
I had a partial replacement on my both knees In July 2020, the surgeon said your feel better, almost 2 years later after 4 different physio locations, still have issues, I've had few appointments with the surgeon, she said I don't.what else to do with me, she said go see my college, I had xrays, ultrasounds, then I met her college and I said I need a MRI I'm I pain all the time, especially behind my both knees, so the MRI results- I have partial tear on my both knees so now I've been told by the surgeon I need total replacement on my both knees. I will not go this hospital again, I rather travel 30 mins to another hospital.
In this hospital they saved my life, I am Italian and I was walking , and they had to admit me of emergency because of a problem of the vesicula , simply an excellent hospital . An eternal thanks to Dra. McAlister , Chloe .
I recently had surgery at this hospital which went well, the check in process was very smooth and efficient and my partner was signed up to their text alert system so he was constantly updated on my progress. Because my surgery was major, I …
My experience at this hospital for the most part has been exceptional. Mal Peters who is an OR nurse in the Birthing Unit is largely responsible for this great review. She was knowledgeable and courteous, going above and beyond to provide care. Dr. Mica at the Urgent Medical/Surgical Clinic acted quickly to reach a diagnosis which lead to emergency C-section to prevent further complications. I am grateful for the few at this hospital who still enjoy caring for people.
I am not surprised a the fact that there are so many negative reviews on this hospital. I understand nurses and doctors work super hard, but its not hard to show some sympathy. I hope management decides to look at these reviews and do a private investigation on how patients are being mistreated.
I can understand why there is so much of negative reviews and why people are mad about wait time. However, you need to understand that going to emergency department doesn't mean you are in critical condition to be in ER. People need some education on where to begin and work their way up to ER only in certain cases. If you have stomach flu, flu, cold, chronic pain in muscles, fever, chickenpox, measles, dizziness, panic attacks YOU DON'T GO TO HOSPITAL. You go to an Urgent Care Center or a Walk In Clinic. There are 20 or more in the area and surroundings . Same goes for pediatric walk in clinics. You just need to learn how to navigate the internet and find where to go. On the other hand, if you have a chest pain, shortness of breath, asthma exacerbation, allergy reaction, slurred speech, confusion, loss of conciousness then CALL 911 and only in these and some other life threatening situations go to ER. This will save you time and other critical patients some time as well. Finally, I see a lot of people are saying "I waited 8 hrs and Dr. didn't even bother to prescribe any medication " They (doctors) know better. They know what they are doing. I love how in Canada Drs don't keep pumping meds to their patients. You were in ER for 5 or 8 hrs because of your lack of understanding. You just don't randomly go to ER if you are not critically ill. Your best bet is either a walk in clinic or an Urgent care center. Thanks.
I had a great experience having a surgery at this hospital. The doctors, nurses, and all the staff treated me so professionally. I would like to thank them all. You are an amazing team...
My mom was admitted at the hospital and was was sent home without support but needed palliative care. She had to be admitted once again, only to die 3 days after. The nurses were really helpful, bit having a new nurse every 12 hours is not easy.
Having had such negative experience at Humber River Hospital I was extremely blessed that during yesterdays visit to the ER I was greeted with Dr Nimjee. I came in with a pilonidal cyst; which is very painful. It was so great to be approached with a doctor who was compassionate, understanding, soothing and informative of what she was doing step by step. She had great bed side manner for working in an Emergency department. We need more doctors like her. Thank you so much for your help Dr Nimjee
I'm giving it only one star because the ER system is very very slow and disorganized. The front line staff are rude, surly and unprofessional. People working at triage could do without the chip on their shoulders. They treat people like cattle or like they're doing them favours. Patients often assess each other and create their own priority sequence. Unfortunately you will not be seeing by the seriousness of your illness. Instead a volunteer hands out numbers like at a deli counter. Therefore a broken finger could go in front of someone with something much more serious. It's sadly pathetic. When I was there I had to use social media so they could attend to me. While waiting, there was a woman that clearly was suffering from a stroke and another that was in so much pain that they were on the floor crying in agony. The staff simply walked around them like nothing was wrong and there was no sense of urgency. The old humber hospital ER was 100 times better and more efficient. With that said, if you are finally admitted to one of the floors, you will receive top notch care. The nurses and the surgeons are amazing and the care is phenomenal. I would rate them 5 stars.
I went to this hospital for the first time, a week ago with a pingal angina. I was left for the night, I am very grateful to all the staff for their help, for good attitude and well-coordinated team actions. A huge thank you to the Russian nurse who did not leave me all night, the doctors who helped me! I'm glad I was in the right hands, at this difficult time for me! Thank you for your work!
I don’t know if it’s gotten any better since I last was there but this hospital is more equipped for bodies but is lacking in bedside manner and communication. The last time I was there I overheard someone saying they sent a heart patient home with the wrong medication. After in take - They also talk to you in the waiting room infront of everyone. When my sister went there for her surgery around this time she was the last appointment of the day. She had spent the night before prepping and worried and spent the day hooked up to something in bed only to be told last minute to go home because they weren’t going to do anymore surgeries. Hopefully they’ve improved.
This review is strictly for the HRH Covid vax clinic. The worst, such poorly managed Covid Vaccine clinic. You cannot describe the lawlessness here. The staff of the Vaccine clinic was so rude, the manager and everyone. If I could give less than one star I would. Avoid the lady manager, she usually wears the red raptor shirt.
???? ????☠ Been waiting for my "All IMG" Slaight center for neurology, retinal scans, and pathology. Also, a removal for the foreign object in my ear /skull Since 16', decided to book an appointment with the corner, more likely to hear from him first in my last five hours.
Been to the Emergency with my husband at this hospital. He had a shard of metal in his eye from work, we were attended to quickly and were in and out in about 45 minutes. The hospital is super clean and well organized, a much better improvement from the old Humber hospital at Finch and Jane. We will also be going to this hospital to have our baby girl and I feel so at ease, with how kind the nurses are here and with how well equipped the rooms are. People leaving horrible reviews about the Emergency unit need to realize that things like a cold, heartburn, sore back are not reasons to go to the damn hospital. Of course you won’t be tended to in 5 minutes for things like that in an EMERGENCY room.
I was a patient from April 18, 2021 till discharged on April 21, 2021 at 5 30 p.m. The nurses, physio staff and support staff on 12 East, were ALL fabulous ... attentive, solicitous, helpful and kind. Day and night. (Especially Eselyn!). Adherence to Covid protocols was constant. The available IT equipment is amazing! I found the recovery room nurses to be a bit shrill and impersonal, but that was only minor compared to everything else. I'm coming back to Day Surgery in a couple of days and I'm not the least bit apprehensive. Thanks to y'all for easing this patient's anxiety level. Kudos.
I recently had surgery here at HRH and I was blown away how kind and helpful everyone was. My care and transition were well coordinated and I always felt confident throughout the day I had someone who was my point of care and able to quickly address any concerns I had. I had a minor complication that had to be addressed and the doctors and nurses were so wonderful communicating with me about this; very informative but I never felt like I was being talked down to. Truly, I felt that HRH prioritized patient-centric care, I felt empowered and informed about what was going on throughout the day. I can’t emphasize enough how nice everyone was; truly a 5-star experience!!
After reading some of these reviews I kinda understand everyone's frustration for waiting long hours to see a doctor but every hospital has their days of fast track and slow track. I went through the same experience when I got admited 9 days ago. I waited a long time to see a doctor but this is reality, hospitals are full and there is a shortage of staff everywhere. I have been here for 9 days in the 11th floor where I have seen a lot of different nurses, doctors, porters, specialists, techs and the list goes on. Based on my experience this hospital is fantastic, the digital system is very good, it keeps things on track and allows patients to also keep track of their tests and appointments. Everyone has been extremely nice and professional. The rooms are clean and a staff member comes in everyday to clean it. I get fresh towels, soap and a hospital gown everyday. The food has been really good and we have the option of choosing our meals from our room. At the moment all the services are free, like phone, internet, movies, etc... I want to take this chance to thank the whole team on the 11th floor for everything they have done and continue to do for me. I'm so glad to be surrounded by such amazing people.
Hi everyone! I've had both very good and very bad experiences with Humber River Hospital. So far with my dad, I brought him to emerg back in June, staff and nurses were prompt and amazing with his care. He had surgery at the end of June, things went smoothly there as well. Except for when they brought him to his room, someone was supposed to notify me after his surgery was done but I called myself to get that information which wasn't so bad but a little nerve-wracking. However for my late mom on the other hand, she was treated at the Finch site (their old location) back in December of 2008. Experience was much different, emergency was extremely disorganized, triage was a disaster, nurses didn't know how to treat her condition although she was admitted for the same thing in the past. At the end of the night we were sent home because there were not enough beds we were told. Her condition worsened, then on Christmas day which was about 8 days later, we brought her back in the evening because she was having trouble breathing. It was again, complete chaos, emergency couldn't figure out how to get her a bed, the cardiologist on staff was completely biweldered on how to treat her and there was only one nurse who kind of knew what to do. My late mom was in pain and they figured the best way to treat her with 3 shots of morphine injected in her veins within a span of 4 hours. We got there at about 5:30 pm, then at 9:15 pm she went into cardiac arrest which happened 2 other times throught the night. Unfortunately, she passed away the next morning on December 26 at 5:30 am ????. We tried suing the hospital for malpractice but they don't make it easy here in Canada. Never let your guard down when going into any hospital, we cannot take things for granted.
The absolute worst. I was staying with my mother in the room after she had already been given her medication. Not only a few minutes after another nurse came in saying it's time for your medication Miss. My mom was asleep at the time. I had said to the nurse she had already just gotten her meds. Then he realized it was for the patient next to my mother. If i had not been there my mother would have been given the wrong medication which wasn't even meant for her.
In the Fracture Clinic , the assistant of Dr John Townley does not pick up the telephone or answer her messages. Dr John Townley is a fine gentleman, however he should replace his assistant, with someone responsible, that will have the courtesy to call back when a message is left on their voice mail
One doctor for all of the emergency ward - - 8 hrs spent sitting and waiting for incompetence. And the doctor was dismissive, incompetent and poorly trained in all social skills. She acted as if her patients were inferior- yet her English was so bad that it was impossible to understand her. If this is our medical system in 2021, then we are in some huge trouble. Anything that is free is always subpar on quility.
Horrible place to go to for help especially if it's urgent and acute and it is an acute center for the community by the way. My father is there. They reacted fast did one surgery and shortly after a second one. Next to impossible to find a treating doctor. Gotta wait for hours for doc to show up. They come and go as they please no regular schedule. Most nurses are ok but some are ignorant and could not care less.
Fire staff then cry about being short staffed. You deserve what's coming to you
I don’t know why the reviews are so bad.. my experience is great! I just had a baby in this hospital and the doctors, nurses are very friendly and great! I was super scared because it was our first baby.. but they made us feel comfortable and better about each and every situation. After having the baby too.. the nurses taught us well how to take care of a baby. Even they sensed that we are super nervous and they eased us. I’ve been going to this hospital since last 3 months and every experience in L&D department was good. They take care of each and every patient (mom-to-be or a new mom and of course the baby) I had so many doubts in my mind after reading the reviews but now I’m sure that where to go for the next time!! Thank you to the doctors and nurses for having so much patience and dealing with me!
This new location Is great. Has more of a comfortable feeling than the older hospitals , it's more efficient due to a larger volume of staff everything moves along a lot quicker. Been here a couple of times due to my dad and him knee surgery . Staff seem happier and yeah they'll have there off days their job is stressful, could things be faster?.. Of course but for a hospital... Very reasonable. Keep up the great work !! ????
Took my father to the ER because of a deep cut wound at 12:00 am, specifically mentioned to them that My dad is a chemo patient and needs to be isolated and be quickly dealt with from other patients due to his immune system being compromised. Especially a patient that has on going Lung Cancer, ER team said that there was nothing that they can do, ER was packed, people were sitting close together. We spent from 12am-5am in the ER before everything was finished. Why does it take 5 hours to treat a compromised immune patient??!! Absolutely disgusting.
The Hospital,Staff,Nurses and my OBGYN doctor were fantastic and super great. I had a very nice c section there but they told me to be in the hospital at 7:00 a.m on c section day but when I arrived nurses were waiting for me from 6:00 a.m which was weird. Also my husband didn’t have any space to sleep well. Nurses in delivery and postpartum were supportive. doctors were super kind.
I had a scan here the stuff were excellent and I was told that I will receive my result in a week but I didn't I then decided to call the imaging department and A lady picked up my call she asked for my information including my Health card number and I gave her and out of no where she asked if I was sure that my health card number wasn't a refugee card number or something that left me shocked and as canadian who respect, appreciate and admire health care workers I felt the lady had other massages that she was trying to communicate to me maybe because of my name ..very disappointed to say the least
My two children were born here and the staff, care and facilities are all exceptional. ❤️
Worst hospital ever, nurses are rude and when you actually have an emergency they tell you to wait in a rude way
Everyone was really kind, respectful and caring for the people around them - regardless of their situation. If I could give more stars, I probably would.
Pros: Single rooms, large enough for a family to visit during non-COVID times. Volunteers/students are nicer than actual staff. Cons: Nurses are EXTREMELY RUDE and uninformative. I had a nurse reply to me "how would I know that answer, I'm just a nurse". As a healthcare professional, I would have expected more compassion/empathy and professionalism. When being required to communicate patient information, they assume someone else has already communicated the message rather than taking the responsibility/initiative to make sure the family is updated and informed. Wait time to see a doctor in the ER at midnight was 3 hours. Wait time to get a CT scan was 8 hours. Wait time to schedule a consultation with a specialist for surgery at another hospital was 24 hours. Overall: Smaller hospital so less hectic, but I would not recommend if given the choice as nurses are disrespectful.
My grandma came to this useless hospital. We couldn't go in with her because of covid and that was already stressful enough and at the fact she doesn't speak good English. Just after 3pm maybe 4, my mother took my grandmother to the ER. She only got to see a doctor at 11 PM!!!!!!! FROM 3PM -11 PM THATS AN EXTREME LONG WAIT. we kept calling this hospital and requested an update, and at each time we called, no one picked up, they kept directing us to ER and either someone would hang up or decline or no one answers. NO ONE COULD TELL US WHAT WAS HAPPENING. At 2 A M we picked up my grandmother after getting her results after 6+ HOURS!!!! she could've had died in the waiting room and by the time she sees a doctor she could be dead. She said her experience here was brutal. she said no one helped her, no one knew what to do and it just wasted our time. if you or a family member/friend are in a life or death matter, steer away from this hospital. They put so much money in this hospital for what? Just for it to look nice? get real doctors and hire more. never coming here and ill advise anyone not to come here. p.s. ive heard plenty of experiences similar to mine and they agree to never come back. Garbage.
Went because of a possible exposure to rabies... waited over 4 hours and still did not see a doctor... You might as well die at home
Force you do the Covid test if you wish to stay as a visitor or even a patient for that matter in maternity. Even while vaccinated, mask wearing with no symptoms. Test negative but get sent home anyways because the patient has possible tiny left over dead covid cells still showing positive results. They stealing the opportunity to be there for support and birth of the child. Now even five days later I still have a feeling and irritation of the Covid test performed. Which I ended up doing for nothing. Then I find out they are even trying to offer Covid tests for new born. Unbelievable. Incorrect Covid testing procedures were also done where the head was tilted back. I am now reading correct procedures is to keep the chin parallel with the ground. Lesson of the story is immediately leave the facility the moment they try to Covid test you
I recently had an excellent first appointment with Wendy of the orthopedic surgery team, and am very grateful for her kindness and helpfulness, and that of every other person I had the pleasure of meeting at Humber River Hospital.
My brother in law suffered 2 cardiac arrests and ended up at Humber River a few months ago. Considering the circumstances of the event, it was a miracle that he survived and is fully functioning today with a pacemaker. But the staff at Humber did everything right and he's still with us. The care was excellent!
Love every single nurse, staff and doctors. Thank you ????. They safe my life
Never been a fan if Humber but. Wow was I impressed Tuesday night. Had to take my elderly mother in and everyone fro the triage nurse, attending doctor, nurse, and imaging department staff were AMAZING. So kind, attentive and thoughtful. Incredible.
Front registration nurse at the emergency area are rude. People taxes are paying rude and nasty attitude employee. It happened in the emergency registration area, one patient has an open wound and smells so badly, even adult can't take the smell. I need to send my 2 years old daughter together with my husband away from the area that i could see them. She told me in a rude voice saying that, i will get another patient because my daughter is not in my side. It just took me a second to call them back. They need to learn and apply good customer service.
I cant find the words to express my gratitude to the nurses doctors and surgeons here at Humber. Thank you for your kindness and compassion during one of the worst situations of my life. I will forever be thankful. Kindest Regards, Shamila Hamid
After 8 hours at emerg my 7 year old daughter had finally seen a dr and was sent to have ultrasound done. got there at 10pm wasn't called for an ultrasound until 7:30 am then needed blood work. I will never return to this place.
My mom had a pacemaker implant at cardiology clinic of Humber river hospital. I was pretty nervous when checking the reviews of the hospital. However we had the best experience ever. From the checking in desk to the cardiology clinic, everyone was super nice and responsible. They took good care of my mom. We had to wait for extra 4 hours because there were some emergency transfer patients from north York General. It is understandable, but the nurses apologize to us for extra waiting time. I didn't remember their names, but Iam really greatful for all of the nurses and Dr. Ravi Bajaj is amazing. He did a wonderful job despite some challenging during the surgery. My hat off to everyone. It deserve 7 stars.
The WORST food services EVER. Not only did they give me mouldy rice pudding but after complaining about it, I get hair in my food the very next day! These people have no notion of what quality control is and they will end up poisoning someone one day! You’re also given the option to pre order all your own food, only to have them manually add items to your ticket and give you things that you are not supposed to have. Constantly swapping out what you actually ordered for things you did not and adding things to your tray that you did not order. After contacting the food services manager on Aug 6 @ 6:40pm (who ever you are) and complaining, all he said to me was ‘ok’. The most atrocious service ever! I ended up having to pay out of pocket and buy my own food. You need to do better! Seriously! Absolutely disgusted by the food and service. I’d pay to be hospitalized elsewhere.
Dear Lord. These people released my father erroneously and then practically begged him to come back to the hospital. So, he finally did and has now been waiting in emerg. for 7 hrs!
I was today in Humber River Hospital, for iron infusion I deal with people who work in Medical daycare, they are fantastic. Thank you very much!
I think this hospital has a few very very nice nurses on their nursing staff available to help you, for example RN Melisa, RN Nicole, RN Kay from the 14th floor (there are more very nice nurses,f from this floor & I will get more names as soon as I can OK!!!! But occasionally (meaning very little) they also have some nasty, rude, selfish, unhelpful nurses who will not help you but let you do things on your own, when you CAN'T yet do it at beginning of your stay at this hospital !? Some of these nurses are from the 8th floor who should NOT be nurses !!!! Just to let you all know not everyone on 8th are terrible staff members, There are also some nice nurses for example RN Isaac?(will let you know for sure if name is right) I came across a young Dr. who was some what rude cause I was still talking & he proceeded to walk away ( not good at all)!! It seems -------(not just here but at every hospital that I have been to)---------that some Doctors think of themselves as superior to regular people who NOT in the MEDICAL field, which is NOT nice at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus there are some nurses who have no gentleness or compassion in their own body system when trying to help a patient who they are assigned to?!! Also the Blood lab people have no compassion or gentleness for the elderly. When taken blood they just RAM that needle with such force it was so very painful !!!!! Basically this Hospital does have very good staff members but not ALL!!!?
Emergency is just a name. I am waiting here for a doctor from 4 ours but nobody come until now. I dont know how much time they will take. I asked them many times when doctor will come they said just wait. I recommend all of you dont come to this hospital if you have emergency.
Thankful for a safe delivery for our baby here, specially to Nurse Ellie on the birthing unit. She passionately avoided a c-section for my wife and have a normal delivery!
INCOMPETENT STAFF IN THE LABOUR AND BIRTHING UNIT! My sister was in labour but the nursing staff and doctor were not competent at all. She was complaining of back pain more so than her contractions but the staff did not explain what was happening and why. Her baby's heart rate kept dropping randomly whenever she turned over and the doctor kept telling her she would need a c-section. My sister was afraid and did not want one but they did nothing to alleviate her concern and kept pushing for a c-section. Finally, a component nurse, Mal, came and ended up delivering the baby herself since the obstetrician was performing another c section. At the end of the labour, as the other nurses were taking off the heart rate monitors, they saw that one of the monitors (for the fetus) was not even on properly!!! It was giving false readings and the doctor and nurses just kept pushing for a c section that would have been COMPLETELY unnecessary. It's like there was a quota on c-section deliveries for that doctor since she performed several in the time we were there!! Mal was the only nurse who cared to listen and delivered the baby without any issues. She was supportive and empathetic, and the only one who seemed to know what was going on. The rest of the staff were lacking in bedside manner and expertise. Do not have your baby here unless you want to be forced to have a c-section because some sloppy nurse did not do her job and no one cared to notice.
If you are sick and its after 4pm dont even bother going! I waited 4 hours just to see a doctor and they told me theres only 1 doctor that works at night! My whole visit was 7 hours and I went in because I am 5 months pregnant, with diabetes and was having issues breathing! To make matters worse the nurse told me to wait in the wrong waiting room for an xray. So I ended up waiting 45 minutes and not being called. Luckily I decided to ask someone if I am In The right part and he said no. When I got to next xray waiting room I was served in less than 60 seconds. Humber is terrible
I had a surgery same day in same day out. All the staffs are very friendly and helpful, from the security to the doctors. They were on time with everything the hospital is very clean, and Dr. Golger is the best. I still go there for my check ups and nothing changed still a GREAT hospital.
2 issues. 1) the little security lady thinks the owns the place and extremely rude. 2) appointment for surgery was for 9:30. At 10 no updates whatever for the the delay. Poor communication skills of all involved.
Excellent staff, exceptional care. I am very proud to live in Ontario to receive such amazing care!!!!!
Hospital of the future! Sure you may have to wait depending on your ailments urgency but if its life or death you will be seen by the best. My wife burned her hands with boiling water and was in excruciating pain so we went to the hospital. When we arrived we used the electronic kiosk and waited about an hr for triage. The waiting room was full but the staff were still friendly and will to give my wife ice for her burn. From Triage we were sent to fast track where, Dr Owlia and her team of nurses helped my wife! The staff at Humber were very good and my wife and I can not thank them enough. I know Dr Owlia and her team were just doing they're jobs but they should know my wife and I really do appreciate it. God bless Dr Owlia and her team and God Bless Canadian health care
Doctors doing good job. Emergency serve on time. Room service follow up ok, but not there when you request help
The worse hospital. How can you make a three month old baby wait so long over four hours after having a high fever which turned out to be Covid.. they could have let my son died waiting.. worse hospital and he was the only baby in the waiting area and ozone level .. what a disgrace thought kids were first priority.. never again
I recieved amazing care and bedside service. The urgent care center staff were fantastic, as well as the emergency care staff. They have later nights and long hours and deserve credit where its due. These are tough times. Thank you Humber River Hospital staff.
They close like what 2 hospitals to make this pile of junk, long wait times, rude staff, and the doctor speaks in a high rude tone, too fast for the patient to comprehend. If the doctors are like this then they picked the wrong proffession, let the patient speak at their own pace, they are in pain don't just cut them off. You'd be better off staying at home, they have more waiting rooms than any other hospital I've seen and they definitely have more staff.
I've never seen a hospital like this before in my life. From 10:00, I'm waiting to see a doctor until 4:00 p.m!!! The patients who are in the rooms are without doctors!! I don't see anywhere around not even one doctor ????
This hospital is terrible. My cousin took her mom there at 3:20pm, the wait time is insane. They ended up there till 5am to only be told to go to the family doctor. Not only that, but you'd think they would have a seperate area for covid patients/potential covid patients. Out loud, a woman was told she was covid positive, so patient confidentiality was pretty much dismissed and instead of putting her in a seperate area and they put her in the same waiting area as everyone else.
As a first time patient at HRH I felt compelled to write a review of my fantastic experience on my shoulder surgery day. When I first checked in to surgical registration on Mar 30/17 I was greeted by a pleasant, warm and competent Arlene who made both my wife and I feel very comfortable. Nurse Bonnie addressed all our questions and Dr. Stephen Reed (my orthopaedic surgery) was EXCELLENT! He expertly repaired my torn rotator cuff and within 3 days post surgery I felt better than I have felt in months! I finally slept an entire night without pain. Also, thanks to post -op day surgery nurse Nina and the rest of the team involved in my care.
I had nasal (septoplasty) surgery there yesterday and had an overwhelmingly positive experience. The staff - receptionists, nurses, and doctors - was very helpful and friendly, everything occurred as scheduled and all my anxieties (stemming both from the fear of the upcoming operation and from having read the negative online reviews of the hospital) were put to rest. Keep it up!
In complete disgust. Will NEVER come back to this hospital. Most employees are rude and have no patience nor care for people. Especially during the emergency area.. i've waited 5hrs for a doctor to come see me. and then other 2 for the results. The most horrendous service I ever received. The diagnosis was a joke. When I went my family doctor as my pain was not resolved; the problem was much worse. Who hired these people!!?
My mom was in er, then transferred to acute unit. Day nurse, &. Night nurse very unprofessional. We called twice to see how she was doing and first African male nurse said we do not know who you are even though the nursing home had told them they could speak to family regarding her condition. I Was told to call 3.5 hours after admission to speak to doctor. Asian night nurse said there was no record from African nurse that we needed to speak to doctor. Told me to give her my number and he would call me. This is no way to treat patients and their relatives. She is 90 years old and no one there cares about her because of her age. Very bad treatment for the elderly. Would not recommend this hospital, even though it looks state of the art, staff is not., very very disappointed.
This is the worst hospital I've ever been to in my entire life. I would never step foot in that place again. I rather dead. That's how bad it is.
Amazing experience with our daughter and son-in-law having their first baby. Birthing and Moms and Baby facilities were excellent- spacious, private, clean, high tech and functional. Staff in both areas were all exceptional- knowledgeable, …
If you need to go to Humber River Hospital for any reason RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! My father was in and out for abdominal pain when they finally realized it was his gallbladder. They removed his gallbladder and by their incompetence, cut the common bile duct and then sent him home not realizing the seriousness of this mistake. Of course he went back and finally someone noticed what had happened and the only person to fix it was a specialist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto. My father is 85 and had to undergo major reconstructive surgery (which included drinking his own bile mixed with coke to mask the taste! Yes he did!!!). He almost died at Humber River Hospital because of the butchery and the fact that they did not realize what they had done and sent him home. To this day he is slowly recovering but he is far from the man he used to be. So again I repeat if you ever need to go to this hospital please do not if you value your life. There are many other hospitals to choose from so please choose another one if you want to live!! We did meet as a family with The chief of surgery and other people in the administrative offices at Humber River Hospital and they let us know that all operations are taped and they have reviewed the tape of his gallbladder removal. To our astonishment the chief of surgery said that they were using this tape of his operation to show what “not to do” in gallbladder removal. Outrageous!!!!
Good hospital bad doctors they for get they are there 2 help u
Posting this review on behalf of my mother, we both couldn't be more grateful and appreciative of the superior care provided. I was a patient recently at Humber River Hospital. Everything about my patient experience in this hospital was excellent, from entry to exit. Staff are very professional, compassionate, & efficient in all the departments who were part of my diagnostic testing and care; those who deserve mention here are: ER : registration desk, Reggie; Sub Acute IV care nurse; Primary Nurse Andrea, Nurse Preet. Physicians in ER, Dr. Dew, Dr. Dunkin 13E Nursing staff, Jessica, Sabra, Sumitra, Nimo; Desk staff, Kim. Attending Physicans, Dr. Mixer, Dr. Sheykholeslami, consult Dr.? specialist in my treatment. Porters Mark, Lisa, Paula and others; Food Services staff Arthur Housekeeping staff can’t remember names, were very good. Other diagnostic services staff, Martha, Karen, Chong, and others whose names I can’t remember. Student nurses in ER and 13E were great too. Thank you for all you do. God bless you all. Barbara
My mom (76) had total knee replacement surgery 3 months ago, double knees. Dr Patrick was incredible from when he saw us , efficient, to the point. He expeditiously booked her appointment (only 2 months wait) and performed complex surgery. He organized rehab plan for her, answered any questions we had. He and Humber river staff are amazing. We are lucky to have such doctor and facilities.
It was a great hospital. Facility and equipments are new. Staff are great too.
The emergency department is a complete joke. Careless, insensitive and rude nurses, and doctors and support staff. I was rushed there by work at 4:16pm, seen by admissions at 5:10pm, then placed in another waiting room for 2 hours and 30 minutes. All while I'm pregnant and bleeding, severe cramping, dizzy, faint and crying in pain. At 7:48 PM, a doctor finally comes, does a 60 second ultrasound and done. No answers as to why I'm bleeding, all they care about is that the baby has a heart beat. I'm sent home and told to see my obgyn at 9pm. I'm displeased with the care this hospital took, and the repetitive rude comments from their nursing staff, when told my condition is getting worst. Horrible, horrible emergency department at Humber River.
The hospital is beautiful, but the nurses on the 10th floor were so rude, unknowledgable, dismissive, and just generally unkind. My husband had surgery and was admitted for one night. They didnt seem to even know why he was there, made him wait for pain medication, and couldn't answer any questions we had. We never once saw his surgeron. Apparently he had left discharge papers and prescriptions the night before so that he didn't even have to come back to the hospital. Hopefully we never have to go back, but if we do, it definitely wont be my first choice of hospital.
I had the right of way when I was making a left turn on Keel street. A truck ran the red light and hit my car. As a result, I became unconscious. The Ambulance attendants took me to Humber River Hospital where I regain consciousness in the Emergency Department. Initially, my love ones were not at the hospital therefore, I felt unsupported, uncertain and afraid. All the staffs that were involved in my care made me feel like I was the most important patient, I assumed the other patients felt the same. As a result of their knowledge, skills and professional approach, I am here to tell of my experience. I thank them and take comfort knowing I was taken care of by one of the best team of Emergency Health Care workers.
I highly would not recommend this hospital to anyone, unless you have hours to kill. An older Asian men at the registration desk took over 1.5 hours to register 3 people, he constatly kept leaving his desk and disappearing for 10-15 min.... He was very unprofessional as he made a patient skip the line because the patient sprained ankle was "sever". For me i had bleeding on my throat because i just recently got my tonsils removed was not consider as "sever" to him. He put me down as an sore of throat with bleeding as i constantly kept empashzing that i recently got my tonsils removed. Once i was finally registered, the wait line was ridiculous we were looking at 4.5 hours and above. I spoke to one of the patients waiting there for a few hours now and were very aggravated with the nurses behaviour, they were EXTREMELY rude to and not helpful to anyone one bit. It seemed as they were not interested in their job, as they were playing basketball with paper balls and shooting into the garbage.... THIS HOSPITAL REALLY NEEDS THEIR EMPLOYEES TO HAVE AN ATTITUDE CHANGE. Till than i Highly recommend anyone to look into other hospitals.
All the staff were so helpful. I had a bloodstream infection and high temperature and the infectious disease specialist and the nurses and healthcare staff all helped me recover. The high tech and modern facilities and nice room helped me recover more quickly
the WORST hospital i’ve ever been to. the wait times are beyond ridiculous. i was there for 7 hours. originally went in for cramping as i am 13 weeks pregnant. took 4 hours to be seen then spent 3 hours waiting for an ultrasound. by that time it was 2 in the morning. i picked up all my things and left. not worth spending the whole night waiting for an ultrasound they’re never going to give me. best part, they weren’t even busy in the ultrasound & x-ray part of the hospital. never EVER go there. and i will never go back. (ps. security guards there are a piece of work)
My wife has been admited at 2am with severe pain on her back. She has been sitting in the waiting room for 5.5 hours waiting to be assigned a waiting room to then be seen by a doctor. She now has trouble walking and the pain has increased. It is actually worse than before we came to the hospital. I guess sitting for over 5 hours in the uncomfortable waiting room chairs has not helped. After several requests to the staff for a more comfortable waiting area and for some kind of a pain killer, the answers has been (in a form of complaint) that they are short staffed, tired and that they cannot help and we will need to wait our turn. I thought that emergencies were accessed based on the urgency of the patients. We have had a girl next to us in the waiting room who's been vomiting all night and still has not been seen by a doctor. If this message is read by anyone I would like to ask 2 simple questions: 1. As explained by one of your staff - mondays are the busiest nights- and if you have the statistics, why dont you staff your emergency warm accordingly? Comparing a line up at a hospital emergency to a line up at a McDonalds restaurant is by no means an answer to give a patient in pain 2. Would the people in the administration of this hospital bring their loved ones to this emergency ward and would they also have to wait (now nearly 6 hours) to be seen by a doctor? As a suggestion- I have travelled extensively around the world including 3rd world countries and have been better treated and in a faster fashion than so far we have been treated in this hospital. Kind of puts things in perspective that sometimes it's not the size of the building, the technology and the bangs and flashes that make a difference. The difference is made with the people that work in the hospital and the pride and care they take to care for their patients.
2 weeks ago I went to ER where I was waiting for 3 hours. The doctor gave me an MRI request and the nurse assured me someone will call me soon to book an appointment with them. I called back after 1 week to learn the MRI department didn't receive the request so I faxed them my copy. Next day I called back and the same department told me they can't book any appointment coz the request is not filled properly by the ER doctor. So since 2 weeks ago I'm waiting and waiting maybe they will fix their mistake. I barely move barely sleep and I'm in terrible pain. Thanks so much for nothing
*********Attention**** This medical team is horrible, remembering I walk in with a really bad flu and they made me waited 8 hours from one room to another with have a doctor to check me. where is our taxes goes?
I was referred to Humber River EARLY PREGNANCY CLINIC due to bleeding while being early in my pregnancy. When I called the clinic to see if I could make my appointment sooner (due to my bleeding & the anxiety I was having), the receptionist was very insensitive and said, "maybe it's mother nature taking its course" and that my appointment date could not be changed. For someone who answers the phones and is oftentimes the first person patients speak to, I was surprised at how insensitive her remarks were; patients who have been referred here are already very emotional and anxious. How is this acceptable? Once I was at the clinic however, the nurses and ultrasound technicians were all very friendly.
I delivered my baby here. 3 different nurses poked me 5 times to get my blood and iv in, finally got it in but she put it in at my wrist so I couldn’t even bend it. Within a few hours it got swollen and I had to get it removed and got poked again. Took my son here 2 months later. 4 different nurses poked him 9 times in emergency to get blood. Iv had to be removed the next day and got poked again twice. In total he got poked 15 times for 2 blood test and 3 IVs. Nurses are inconsistent in sanitary standards.
Not a review on the hospital but the paramedics who work out of here. I had a very bad and demeaning encounter with 2 paramedics from here, they belittled me and where not caring in anyway.
Horrible experience. Extensive wait times at emergency even at 230am. Staff are just socializing amongst themselves and not working. At least 5-6 nurses just standing around doing nothing while patients are yelling in excruciating pain. No exaggeration. Still waiting to see a doctor after 3 hrs (5am). Would have been in and out if I had gone to North York General. I do not recommend this hospital for anyone who has an emergency. Good luck!
I had a procedure with Dr. Grace Yeung. The pre op nurse I had, Lucy, was very nice and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Yeung is awesome. Surgery went smoothly and I'm quite happy with the care I received, from patient registration to discharge.
Worst hospital in Canada I won’t recommend anyone to go there,if you love your life please don’t go there, you’ll meet nurses who are jumping up and down and they are doing nothing and doctors who don’t even listen to you ,i was at the ermergency for 10hrs waiting to get a blood test, so far one of the worst hospitals in canada
I have been to the new location of Humber River hospital a number of times. The doctors and nurses were very kind to my kid and I am happy with the service I received. My family also received our Covid 19 vaccine from their downsview arena clinic on Wilson. It is a well managed operation and they treat people with a lot of respect. I have seen the staff distribute water amongst people standing in line for vaccine, on hot summer days.
My wife was admitted to the HRH on Aug 13 by ambulance with her OHIP card and later was transferred to the Runnymede rehab Centre. Her OHIP card was not with her when she was released so the OHIP card was lost. I contacted the HRH and they promised a reply in 1 to 3 business days and so far I have had no response.
The hospital has provided excellent service in terms of Healthcare. But covid fatigue is definately showing up in the other areas of service. Multiple signs in the lobby, saying PLEASE visit our foodcourt, was told by the doctor is hang out in the food court. Then when you get to the food court, was told the entire food court seating was for staff members only. The place was absolutely empty, made no sense. Signs saying only double vax allowed, but zero personal were actually checking. There seems to be a huge disconnect in terms of communication. I'll follow your policy for sake of keeping the peace. But the mallcop figure needs to understand its a hospital, and the staff members are here to help patients. And patients require an area to eat also.
Worst experience I ever had with my sick child. Nurse could not find vein to insert needle IV, careless and ignorant. Left with tears and hopeless. Never will come back. Please stay away if you care about your loved ones and want professional help. Sad covid is being used for every possible excuse by medical system.
If you are suicidal or have mental issues it is easier to just kill yourself than deal with these people. They will unfortunately not help you.
my mom works here and she is anna tabakov
DO NOT go to the Humber River covid-19 assessment sites. They are horrible and completely useless. If you can not access your Ontario covid 19 results website they will not help you get your results at all. Please go to any other hospital network like North York General or Scarborough Health Network or York Region. Humber River is horrible, they do not even do their own testing and send it to Mount Sinai. Mount Sinai has closed their testing Centre since July 30, 2021. So your test is being sent no where in which you can contact anyone! DONT GO HERE!
July 2020 I began seeing a nephrologist at the Kidney care clinic here. First I was a patient of Dr. Murray Berall and later on a patient of Dr. Laura Berall. Both doctors are amazing and knowledgeable. They make me feel comfortable and explain everything to me, which was extremely comforting since this was the first time I’ve had kidney problems, so it was all very new and scary to me. Their pharmacist and other staff are always friendly when I call or they call me. I’ve had to sign in through the medical imaging department a few times and every time was a great experience, there is one gentleman who works there who went out of his way to help me get information for my biopsy. I also visit the ambulatory clinic quite frequently for bloodwork and the staff there are so nice and friendly. I have never had an experience where I left feeling like they butchered my arm while taking blood. Quick, painless and efficient. I also received my covid vaccine at the downs view arena and another quick, painless and efficient service. I have yet to have a bad experience at HRH. Thank you!!
I went to the ER at this hospital, the nurses who screened me were okay and fast, the black lady who took my blood was super professional and caring, but after the blood work and urine, I had to sit and wait for 3 hours in a waiting room for a doctor! A doctor named Valerie Anderson looked at me, barely examined me, then she asked me why I didn't go to a walk in clinic or a family doctor, I told her that I am in a lot of pain and I cannot raise up properly or raise up by myself because I was having pains in my lower back, left side and my groin area. She prescribed naproxen muscle relaxer only, without referring me to do an ultrasound or x-ray. I went home in severe pain worse than ever, the next day I had to find a walk in clinic, who act quickly to examine, and refer me to do relevant x-ray etc. and test. I was told that there is no doctor by the name of Valerie Anderson who works in the ER! They said she is probably an intern. She is an intern student! OMG! This is very scary, how could a hospital allow a student doctor to diagnosed patients and make final decisions on her own! Stay away from the Humber River Hospital if you can.
Completely blown away by the quality of care at Humber River Hospital. Just had surgery and the pre op care through to surgery, care was incredible. Started with security guard who was so kind and wished me well. Admins, nurses, techs, physios and all the doctors who cared for me were absolutely wonderful. Did not meet anyone who was not professional, dedicated, kind and respectful. Seriously overwhelmed by the level of care I have received over the past three weeks. Thank you all so much, you are truly wonderful
This is a magnificent hospital. It's spacious, beautiful, clean and everything is easy to figure out. Its new, it looks modern, and the hospital doesn't smell bad or anything. I've been here to get a few tests done, and each time, the wait time has been very minimal. The people that worked there seemed really nice as well.
Excellent service and helpful staff. After an unfortunate accident, we were quickly assessed in emergency and provided with X-rays. When we returned the next day to the fracture clinic we were able to get a CT scan on the same day and had …
This place is an absolute joke. Girlfriend came here for chest pains, wait time was 4 hours. This is to be expected with the pandemic going on, but what isn't acceptable is the attitude of the nurses working reception. My girlfriend politely asked how much longer she'd have to wait, and one nurse rudely just flipped through a stack of paper to show her how many people were ahead of her, not even verbally answering her question. When my girlfriend asked to be discharged so she could just go see her family doctor instead, another nurse tried to guilt trip her into staying and said something along the lines of "that's on you". Ridiculously insensitive and unprofessional.
Worst experience! Went in emergency and was feeling shortness of breath. Told the nurses but no one worried. I said that I am really in so much pain and was feeling unconscious but got answer as “everyone is not feeling ok here just sit down”. All of the staff was very non cooperative. Will never recommend to go there instead visit Etobicoke General Hospital. They helped me immediately.
My wife had an operation and I stayed with her in inpatient surgery unit overnight. We requested and payed for a private room. I had to beg a couple of nurses to provide me with a recliner chair although they had it in other vacant rooms. Finally third nurse agreed to provide me one. I asked for a pillow at night. A Male nurse told that they don’t have it on the unit although there were plenty vacant rooms with pillows on the beds. Nurse said it should be on the bed for possible new admission. I promised to return the pillow if they need it but he refused. He said he could not find a pillow in all hospital. When I insisted because of my neck pain, he looked into utility room which in unusual to keep pillows. In the morning another nurse told me that they keep pillows in room closets and she found one in our room. My wife and I have been working hard 6-7 days a week and for more than 20 years, paying high income taxes, and paying for our hospital room. For the first time (fortunately) my wife needed one night hospitalization following operation and really It was unbelievable how much a nurse could be disorientate to find and provide services, lazy to leave his computer and not willing to be helpful at his job. surgeon and surgery were excellent and could not be better. This low rating is only related to nursing care experience at Humber river hospital.
The worst hospital I ever visited. At midnight, I went to try to get some emergency medication for hypertension (I had accidentally run out). After sitting waiting for 4 hours, listening to patients crying for someone to deal with them, I …
terrible service. rude staff. last Friday our family had very bad experience. My 15 month daughter cut here finger. Pretty deep. We called 911. Guys came very fast in 10 minutes. They were very professional and thoughtful for my baby. No complaints. Respect and thank you guys. But hospital experience was opposite. We waited over 2 hours we were lucky the baby slap. But if didn't? My wife asked one of nurses when a doctor will help us and gave rudely answer. Finally a doctor showed up and instead of taking care about the baby he started to talk to his colleague and there conversation wasn't about how to help my daughter. I herd. He was very relaxed. It looked like he deals with machines but not with people. We asked him to move faster but got surprised look and he started to argue with us. At this time my daughter woke up and cried. Came his nurse and story started from the beginning (no attention). Finally they did there job, stitched the finger. It was terrible and unacceptable service.
My son was in NICU, is so unfair that some of nurses also sleep while on duty, she left my baby crying unattended to, the following day I called around 2:30am to my surprise no response after several attempts, I think the management of the hospital needs to take drastic measures, and oversee the staff appropriately and make sure they are doing their jobs, not a good experience for me compared to other hospitals have been, and if bad reviews are more than good reviews then the customers are right. To
Been there today for some exams, and the staff was absolutely the best. The registration officer was really helpful, and the nurses were caring and friendly.
Delivered three babies here. Private rooms, big space clean nice and tidy I take one star off because some nurses are very mean and unprofessional. But some nurses are very nice and friendly.
If you are in emergency and in pain, you’ll reach the epitome of patience and long suffering. With the ongoing pandemic topped with any holiday season, add on a few hours if it’s night. It’s an experience to not know when you’ll be seen, if …
The staff from doctor, nurse, dietician, physio, OT, transporter, test labs etc., take really good care of my aged father. It’s been 4 days since my father was admitted. These folks have been kind, gracious with their personal time, considerate, always on their feet, caring and expert in their approach. Cautionary note: Like any place you entrust your loved one, our own responsibility and our part is equally important. One must support the caretakers and also get to know each of them to ensure they are looking after your loved one properly and hold them accountable if their standards demonstrated fall short and compromise safety from distraction or have more than they can handle that day. It can happen with the numerous staff shifts during the week. Some are excellent and some are getting through the day. I cannot ask for anything more. The room is comfortable, spacious and accommodates family overnight. Great planning and honouring of the elderly. We are welcome there. I am very thankful and grateful of the generosity of spirit and gentleness in the care of the elderly. 4 days at the hospital and I see how hard everyone works and how much effort is required day and night along with the constant demands made on these incredible folks. Yet they keep showing up ready to serve, ready to help make life easier, healthier and joyful. My father and I are met with smiles and genuine support although I can see how many things they must juggle at the same time to attend to everyone on the floor. Thank you to these great folks who have to lift my father a few times a day and care for his well-being. Most of us could not do this hard work that is part of the medical care. I do what I can to support them, I want to be part of the solution for my dad’s care. I appreciate these wonderful folks. They are the super heroes. It’s a tough and sometimes thankless job. The system is definitely overextended for various reasons and these great folks are bearing the burden of it. Yes the wait times at emergency were longer than in my youth, but we wait to allow more serious cases to get the necessary attention. Time is everything when saving a life or preventing further health crises. Please support your hospital and the hard working folks who elected to take care of us, our family members and so forth. Really look closely and you will see that it takes a special kind of person to do what these folks do. Thank you Dr. Tran, Dr. Lam, Dr. Fishbeine, Dr. Garin, Monique, Anthony, Adrian,Tanesha, Rene, Karlene, Charlene, Raul, Ron, Yasmin, Younee, Kyle, Diane, Laura, Julie, Mary, Marie, Hue, Calvin, Stephen and anyone else I missed that contributed to my fathers successful return home. Thank you. Life is Good! :)
I have been a patient in ER and have had family as well. Iam not writing to complain, but to educate and maybe get help change what is wrong. This past week, EMS brought in my mother, who spent 8 hours without anyone coming to see her. She slept throughout the waiting in the hall. Never met the nurse during the waiting for a bed. Finally a nurse came by and advised that she was being moved to a bed and that is when my mom woke up delirious, hitting nurse, not recognizing her children; totally scared to death. None of this would have happen if she was assessed when she was sleeping. Now she is awake and scared. This is when the doctor started getting upset. Gave her meds to calm down. Did not understand him as he mumbled. He said she had an infection, gave her antibiotics. By this time she was fast asleep. Once meds were finished, was told to go home. She was out like a light and I was told to take her home. No help from anyone, no customer service at all. There is a 0 tolerance for any outbursts... This is why there is code Whites. Families are not being informed as to status, rude behavior from staff and lack of sympathy. When a doctor brings a family member to the hospital, they are all over the nursing staff giving orders right left and centre. Wanting everything done STAT. They are doctors and everyone has to treat them like GOD. This has to change... Families react to the way their family members are being treated, we all have to do our part. Don't just expect one side... both side have to adhere to protocols and rules.
Was brought in by ambulance May 24th at around 12:30 am and as I was waiting for my room the Asian women that was working at the emergency desk decided it would be good to make fun of me calling me “girl boy” and laughing with the paramedic. I assume she didn’t think I could hear but either way it was horrendous and humiliating and she shouldn’t be in health care.
I wish I could give 0 stars. If you have any mental health issues do not go here. I had to go two days in a row on the first day the psychiatrist made me tell my whole life story because my anxiety medication wasn’t working and I wanted to go back to my old medication. She put me on a medication that I’ve already been on before that gave me severe side effects and refused to listen to me about it. She also dismissed my abuse because my abuser was younger than me. So took the meds she gave me and what do you know horrible side effects so I go back where this time they made me go to the locked unit even though I wasn’t a risk to myself or others. And this doctor refused to put me on a medication that I told him was working instead gave me only two weeks worth of “an emergency anxiety medication” and told me to talk with my psychiatrist ASAP even after telling him that I can’t because my doctor is on vacation hence why I’ve come to the hospital.
I spent the better part of two days with my husband in emergency and it was one of the worst experiences. Its not bad enough that their sick but the excessive wait times are ridiculous. This is not a third world country but our health care sure is. Very disappointing . The worst hospital I have been to.
My 88 year old mother is here and the whole staff has been very helpful, but the person that want to talk about is a very special nurse. Her name is Andrea Ryan and her dedication, compassion and her smile is what makes a difference in mine and my mother’s life right now. She goes behond doing her job, she loves and it shows. She is a rock star!! Everybody ounce in their lifetime needs an Andrea Ryan and i feel very lucky that i got mine!
This was my first time using the hospital's emergency department. I was registered, treated and ready to go home in 2-1/2 hours. I received stitches, dressing, tetanus and instructions within 2-1/2 wait. The doctor did a real nice job and was very professional. The only complaint I would have is finding it a bit challenging communicating with staff because of the facial shields, masks and plexiglass. I would recommend this hospitals emergency department as I had a good experience.
They are ok sometimes waiting is to much But once it there are good
If I could give 0 stars I would I have come in with cramps while being pregnant and am disgusted by the service that they give the patients. I have been here for almost 8 hours and I have not taken blood work or gone for an ultrasound i have never had service this bad before I can’t believe what am I seeing. Babies with such high fevers waiting 8 hours +. Me being pregnant they are treating me like nothing is wrong. I hate this hospital it’s disgusting. They should shut it down because it’s no help to people. I was standing at the door telling people to go home because of how nasty the service was. People waiting 8 hours plus while the nurses laugh and talk with each other I came in at 12 and parking was only supposed to be 10 now it’s 7:30 and of course my parking will be more. I am horrified and do not want to even pay for parking. I will NEVER come back to this hospital. The government should stop funding this hospital and shut it down. It’s horrible.
This is the worst hospital ever, the nursing staff and doctors could care less about patients. They don’t update family and their medical decision making is extremely poor. The ER providers rejected my uncle 3 times denying him admission to the hospital telling him he is “okay and should go home and rest”!!! My uncle is an otherwise healthy individual and only fell ill due to covid. The final fourth time he went there since it was the closest hospital he was intubated. It has been almost 10 days and the doctor “thinks he is fine” and does not want to get a CT scan of the chest or echo (ultrasound of the heart) to look for other complications. As a medical doctor myself it pains me to see hospitals like this continuing to see patients and mismanaging patients without any consequences. For way too long people have mentioned that this was a bad hospital and now I am first hand seeing why. I know that beds are full at most hospitals, but I want to warn the people of Toronto please please please avoid this hospital at all costs and go else where! Humber had so much potential given the new technology that came with it, but the staff that works there is incompetent and lacks empathy.
I had the BEST birth experience at HRH, from what could've been the worst, if not attended properly. I had what's called a 'Rapid Labour', where in 2 hours since the onset of labour, my daughter was born. Was rushed with ambulance, and immediately taken care of by Dr. Nicolette Caccia and team. Don't remember many details, except the delivery room was full of people, all there for me & baby, everybody doing their job. There were 10-12 nurses, as things were progressing extremely fast. I gave birth less than 1 hour after being admitted to hospital, and nothing was amiss!!! I had all the care I would've had if there was plenty of time to prepare, if not better!!! I do remember being thankful even in the moment for how well everyone was doing their job, and they knew what they were doing. It was extremely helpful for me! And it truly makes the difference between a VERY GOOD birth experience (the BEST), and a not so good one (potentially, with tragic consequences, had I not made it to the hospital on time). My recovery was also very speedy, again, thanks to good and timely care when it mattered, other than my own body's abilities. Thank you, Dr. Caccia, nurses and ambulance staff, of course! I could've not done it without you.
Very professional,very friendly.
Thank you so much to the staff for working so hard and being sooo kind to my son and I. Emergency waiting as the whole Day which had my son losing his mind.
Humber emergency I would say is the worst emergency department I've come across. If it's a emergency never go there. I waited 10 hours and couldn't didn't see a doctor. It's a tremendous waste of hospital space. They need help organizing there emergency department and perhaps have some more doctors if possible. DO NOT GO TO HUMBER IF YOUR LOOKING FOR HELP!
My wife worked here and was bullied everyday. Every time I picked her up she would bust out into tears because of how she was treated
My mother was treated so horribly in the ER. 5+ stabs to find her vain, no communication from some of the workers as they manhandled her, and when she was calling for help no one came. There is no sympathy from the workers and the worker at the dialysis entrance had the absolute worst attitude I've ever seen.
Truth is no one likes hospitals. Humber River Hospital, however was very professional and clean. Staff was knowledgeable and very nice. Thank you!
ER experience: I wish I can attach photos on here. This was the worst hospital visit I’ve ever experienced! Not only did I wait 9.5 hours!! My room was completely dirty! There was someone else’s BLOOD on the floor. A USED NEEDLE on the floor. One nurse asked me to empty my bladder in the cup for testing. 20 mins later I had an ultrasound. Only to find out they needed a FULL BLADDER!!! Most unorganized hospital/staff I’ve ever experienced! The nurse who drew my blood split my blood all over my bed I was laying in a puddle of my own blood which made me feel very uneasy! I will definitely never go back to the hospital! You’re better off in a third world country’s hospital than this place.
The worst experience of ewer. A lot of people focused just for themselves. They absolutely don't care about patients or their needs. The hold people for 8- 10 hours without any attention. I had COVID high temperature couch and hard breathing. They hold me 8 hours with other patients. They don't fight with illnesses they spread it.
Excellent!!! Large....High-Tech Hospital PEDIATRIC Dept. 4th Floor Professional, highly trained, knowledgeable, extremely thorough..concerned. Doctors... Nurses...Childcare Worker....students..staff Everyone made our hospital stay truly comfortable and enjoyable. Words can't describe how impressed we are with the whole process! Received quality health care, service and treatment. We were also fortunate to stay inside a very large, private, clean, beautiful hospital room. Been to many hospitals over the years and this is the best one ever!!! We won't go anywhere else. Thanks Humber River!!! Thanks Pediatric Team - 4th Floor!!!
Our province is too concerned with covid 19 and the amount of hospital rooms available with ventilators. My Dad is at this hospital with lung cancer and on a ventilator. I do not understand why every week he is seen by a different doctor with a different diagnosis. Some not all of the E.R. doctors are rude and should not be working here at all. Many patients with late stage cancers will die because people are afraid to go to hospitals. We live in a world where no one cares. This is a prime example of hospital that doesn't either.
This place is clean, but staff is rude and very uninterested in their jobs and you can hear them always complaining about their work. My brother is in great pain and when I went to just let the nurse know only once, I have been answered with “ Everyone is in pain, there is nothing to be done but to wait.”, I was like I am sorry I know you might be busy, she replies “Actually we are not busy, and we have two doctors working with other patients” and I was like only two? She was like “two is a lot. So go back to your room and wait, you are lucky its not only one doctor” Horrible staff, very bad experience!
My wife just gave birth here and the nurses were super friendly and made everything easy for her, with this crazy pandemic going on I didn’t know what to expect, they were short staffed and still did an amazing job !!!!
This hospital must be shut down..teribble doctors, terrible staff..my wife was having miscarriage and bleeding so badly and guess what doctors have told us?wait!!f this hospital and its staff
One of the worst emergency to go to in toronto. To make this hospital they closed down 3 but it still has 3 triage an emergency room as big as my 3 bedroom apartment no doctors to look at you or beds to get your check up. They give patients the result in a waiting room. They recently opened up a pediatric clinic on the 4th floor from 5 to 9 so children wouldnt need to suffer waiting in the emergency but apperently they can only look at a total of 30 kids in a day. They turned me and 12 other parents with sick kids because they looked after 30 kids in that day. In experience one of the worst hospitals ever made funny thing is its the hospital that i gave birth in????????????????
I was flown in by ORNGE air ambulance from New Liskeard (8 hours north) and i had a room right as i got there and i had a nurse waiting at my door for me as soon as i got there. I was admitted on the surgical floor and i had two drs come to speak to me and my father in less then an hour. The room was the biggest ive ever seen, huge comfy bed and there was recliners that turned into beds and a huge sitting area infront of the window over looking Toronto, it had a giant flat screen tv and a personal computer that is beside the bed (or where ever you want it) that has all the light switches and can dim the window, you can order meals and choose what you want to eat. The nurse call botton and music &movies and tv can be on there, there is skype and a phone to use. I had a 5 star stay until my discharge, then it took 6 hours for the dr to come and write my scipts so i can leave plus they wanted me out of my room at 11am but i ended up staying till almost 5pm just for 2 scipts. That was horrible. I had wonderful nurses for the most part,a couple grumpy night nurses and post op surgery nurses but over all great
Horrible experience left me in a room freezing for 3 hours Didn’t even check on me once after I had waited 6 to 7 hours for the room and very unprofessional and many nurses are old wearing there regular street clothes instead of a proper uniform which is not clean at all and all of the nurses in o zone are just wast time leaving people in cold rooms hanging around and goofing of at the front desk of o zone wasn’t offered a blanket or nothing I had to go get it my self and I am not well with the flu never going to this hospital again ever
Find another hospital. This one is terrible and it wastes your time. You'll be sitting for 9 hours for something you could have gone to a walk in clinic for that takes an hour. None were open around me so I decided to go here. Should have waited for a clinic to open up instead of coming here. Worst hospital in Toronto. Slower than a snail. You won't see a doctor or nurse forever. So many people in the waiting area that many are standing. Waste of time.
Daughter cough bad, arrive at emergency 5:30am Dec 20. Its 7:56am. No nurse or doctor. When I ask nurse at counter for ETA for doctor all she say is doctor will be soon. I ask if there a place to warm up water to clam my daughter cough, answer is sorry no. Does my daughter need to cough out blood for them to notice. This was advertise as most advance hospital newly build but do not feel like it. Staff friendly to other staff but not to patient. 8:30am Doctor shows while my daughter having a coughing fit c/w a nose bleed. Sorry to have sound frustrated, but the doctor see it and gets a phone call and apologize and walk out. Not just once but twice. After he ask why I am upset? Where do these doctor learn there compassion from? I understand that being the only doctor in emergency room during graveyard shift is hard, but to have no compassion from support nurse which I saw 5 hanging around chit chatting about XMas plan while I see there's other young kids in other room obvious showing sing of discomfort as well. This is the worst and most shocking display of compassion I have witness at this hospital. Why is there no nurse walking room to comfort patience and ensure them doctor is coming. At least an update.
A lot of my family as well as myself had to come to this facility for different reasons and I have never had any problems with any staff or doctor.
Ive had family member attend this hospital for a spinal tap surgery and the surgeon didnt sew her back up or bandage her up afterwards. A close friends husband died because one of the nurses forgot to give him his meds TWO DAYS in a row. I'm not saying every nurse and doctor are terrible at this hospital but at this point everyone I know has had a life threatening experience here. To the extent that most nursing homes in this area suggest their patients go downtown for any hospital services. If they are unable to, the other patients begin to say their goodbyes. This hospital is known as a place where people go to die. That should be concerning.
Terrible stuff Is we waiting for 4 hours doctor cayman it's takes in exactly 2 minute Is nurses terrible too Emergency department
This 2018 has been a crazy year for me. Never before had I been to a hospital in my life and since the start of the year, it's where I've mostly spent my time. Looking at the bright side I can't be even more happy to have had the experience at Humber River Hospital. From being aided in emergencies to having had my baby at the hospital, all the staff members were beyond exceptional, understanding, helpful and kind. I am especially grateful to all the nurses that helped and assisted during my pregnancy and labour. To Silvia, Emily and everyone I met; thank you sooo much. <3
This hospital is terrible, I have been waiting for 8 hours and still haven't seen a doctor, what a waste of tax payer money. I've need had such a horrible experience in a hospital before, I wont be coming back here again
I went to emergency section yesterday at 1:30pm because of a piece of glass that cut my throat. After 4-5 hours doctor saw me and I told him there is still something in my throat and it’s bleeding my throat. The doctor only wanted me to take a x-ray then I did so. After the results came, doctor said there is nothing wrong on my throat and wanted me to leave. After 2 minutes I left the hospital, a piece of glass came out from my throat with my cough. I went back and showed it to the doctor. Then he tried to show me the x-ray results. What could I do with the results? He just wanted me to throw the glass and said it was not visible on x-ray. If I could give 0, I would do so.
Came in early this morning and after waiting 2 hours in the first waiting room, got sent to a smaller waiting room for another hour, then got sent to a single room for a doctor. After 30 minutes a nurse sees me to discuss and now an hour after.. still no doctor. Never coming to this hospital again.
What a mess! They are very careless and you have to wait for very long in their emergency, very very long like 12 hours and they call it emergency.. like seriously. You guys should be ashamed.. we are waiting for ultrasound for over 4 hours and still waiting!! Shame!
Had double knee surgery 10 days ago. Everyone at this hospital from the pre-op department to the Covid test through surgery were incredible. The surgery experience was 10 plus! The nurses on the 10th floor where I stayed for 3 nights were amazing. Especially Cherry! I cannot say enough about this hospital and everyone that works there. The attention and compassion shown by all staff is amazing.
Came in because I had chest pain and difficulty breathing. I ended up staying SEVEN HOURS and the absolute ONLY THING they did was take a blood test. It took them 7 hours to get my blood test results. Then finally, 7 hours later when it’s 3:30am they say “oh let’s give you an x ray” so If someone comes in with chest pain, shouldn’t that have been the first thing to do? You’re going to ask me to do an x ray after I waited 7 hours, then make me wait an hour and a half extra to get the x ray results ? Absolute joke
Beautiful infrastucture but same old unprofessional employees. My daughter was transferred from Mount Sinai to NICU. While she has had a two very good nurses tend to her, she's had a few bad nurses. Giving you attitude when you're asking simple questions, handling the baby a bit tooo rough (possibly being bias because its my daughter), having the garbage pails overflow even though it is the intensive care unit she's in. There's only Wi-Fi in the food court (which is weird especially since its supposed to be a new up to date technological hospital). Have a visit from the lactation consultant, which was absolutely useless since she was giving me false information (very disappointing since I'm a first time mom) During the night, its next to impossible to find a nurse in the area if anything starts beeping or going off. I understand that all hospitals have their pros and cons, but this hospital definitely has alot more cons than pros. If possible head downtown to any of those hospitals, definitely will be better off in the long run.
NEVER COME HERE if you need immediate attention as the doctors will not be available for more than 4 hours and then multiple tests will be conducted and you will end up spending over 12 hours at the emergency. It still continues, you will not get the reports for over 3 hours and no one would be willing to help. Please visit any other hospital or clinics but STAY AWAY FROM HUMBER RIVER.
This morning I felt; went to the Humber River Hospital, Emergency ; I came out after one hour with X Ray done and with the diagnosis; it was a pure pleasure dealing with the hospital staff, from the first to the last person I saw; so well organized, kind, knowledgeable and nice; the emergence department is clean and neat; I never went through emergency triage in any Toronto’s hospital faster and with more satisfactory; and, it is happening in corona virus time
I took my husband here at 12:00 pm with extreme abdominal pain he is a stage 4 cancer patient and has not been able to eat or drink without extreme pain .we thought maybe it was his Appendix, after waiting for more than 12hrs 1 blood test and a CT scan and a useless 90 sec visit from an incompetent Dr Miller we were told they couldn’t even see his appendix. so they don’t believe it is that and that they have no explanation for his pain. My question to the doctor was well if you can’t see it how can you rule it out . What a stupid look on his face . We will never ever go to this hell hole again
I have been at this hospital on 3 occasions with family members and 2 occasions with friends. On all of the occasions the staff and service was excellent. They had diagnosed the problem and helped us every time. The waiting time on some of the days was busy but as every other hospital the crisis cases are prioritized. The facility is beautiful, top of the line in equipment and all computerized. I would return back in any emergency with any of my family members or friends!
Had the worse experience in the emergency. Came in with my baby and husband. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and I dont pump nor have the things to do so. The nurses were nice to offer options because they were concerned I was exposing my baby but I asked them if I was going to be in a room with multiple people, if not I think it would be okay that they stay. So they placed us in a room. After waiting. I was placed for ultrasound and waited for two hours and between those hours. 0 communication. So I went to the admin station and two nurses were there. One was pregnant and the other one had long nails (worst!). I asked them if I can wait with my baby cause I waited for so long and I’m going to need to feed my baby but they gave me so much attitude. Telling me I’m exposing my baby and such making me feel like a bad mother and all. Never I’m my life have I met such arrogant nurses in my life. Also, came in with my baby months ago with paramedics. No one was offering to help me even though they saw me struggling carrying my baby’s car seat. A patient in waiting was the one who offered me help.
I volunteered here for a brief period of time, Staff attitude is disgusting. They put on a face to make you think they care about your opinion but in reality they dgaf. I've had family members be admitted to this hospital, they dont care about their patients well being its all a pay check to them. No sympathizing with patients or nothing, what they've learned in school about treating others with respect is no more. From upper management to nurses and other health care employees, THEY JUST DONT CARE!
Everytime i come here it's a disaster in terms of waiting, don't understand why they call it fast track if there's nothing fast about it. Got here at 9.30pm finished triage at 10.50pm and then they send to fast track waiting room, waited another 2h there then they call you into room to see doctor, it's 2.03am and still no doctor has seen me. Very poor hospital in terms of emergency. Would have been better of going to a hospital downtown.
Thank you to Dr. Seaberg's team who performed my mother's parathyroid and thyroid surgery. My mom considered herself the luckiest person in the world to have such superb and exceptional doctors and nurses. Nurse Tracy Morgan went above and beyond to accommodate my mother in her recovery in the nicest, most empathetic, respectful and compassionate manner. It brought tears to my mother's eyes. Thank you again Humber Hospital for hiring the best of the best! Forever grateful!
Been here for 6 hrs and still waiting. I have seen patients they called who came way after me. Everything here is slow mo. Lazy is underrated to describe them. Doctor is nowhere to be found. From 3 patients, the waiting room became full. Hope I won’t come here again. This is our tax dollar, ppl. Thse ppl gets their salary from our taxes and they barely can perform their job
Unfortunately I can't give this hospital a negative review otherwise I would have done that. I took my wife this korning to ER and we went thru triage area in 5 minutes. From 4:15am to 9am we just waited for a room. We left and came to our local walk in clinic instead so at least we will be seen by a doctor. I am a registered nurse by profession and the experience we had at HRH ER this morning was absolutely horrible. The nursing staff is totally clueless and has absolutely no idea about showing compassion or providing quality service. No one informed us what the hell was going on or why were waiting for so long. They only have 1 doctor working and he or she was MIA and staff didn't know where the doctor was. We, along with other patients, saw these nurses laugh and gossip behind the nursing station and when my wife went to ask what was going on she got a rude response by a nurse "we will call you when it's your turn". There was an elderly patient with a bloody nose waiting and wondering the same. Another patient threw up twice and she was not even looked after. Hopefully my family and I never have to visit a hospital in the future or any ER but if we do, HRH ER will not be our choice. I would honestly caution anyone who is going to their ER to keep in my mind that you will waiting for a long time before you even get to see the doctor.
On Saturday January 4th. 2020. My mother who suffers from high blood pressure and is on meds for it visited the ER here. Her blood pressure has been extremely high recently and she had a reading of She165/108. The pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart told her to go to the ER. She went around 1pm and did not leave until after 6pm. What Dr. Bryan Wise told her there are no words for. He told her that blood pressure is no reason to the ER unless she feels that she's having a stroke or a heart attack then she should go!!!...????...So in other words, we should wait for her to be actually having a stroke for her to visit the ER!! He said he doesn't care what the numbers say. Numbers aren't everything. So why are there bp monitors then? I think this was totally uncalled for a Doctor to say such a thing for someone seeking help. Waited there for six hours to hear that. Great help. Bravo!!
Wish there was an option for 0 stars. Staff are extremely incompetent and rude. Abysmal bedside manner. Neglectful and a number of glaring violations. Unit 9E, Emerg, and ICU staff are among the worst. It is frustrating to see nurses and doctors practicing without an ounce of empathy or any sense of patient advocacy. When called out on their behavior they lie and blame the patient and stonewall family members. They go as far as completely ignoring your calls answering only if dialed from a private number. Don't go here or take your loved ones here if you can help it.
The most terrible hospital. We spent eight hours there with a three year old child. I will never go to this emergence again.
Came humber for a little problem last Friday ended up with covid...when I was there the room was really cold the bathroom didnt get clean and I was there for 4 hrs... y'all need to do better #pregnantwithcovid Thanks humber.. my birth plan just got changed never ever ever again I'll go back there
I visited the Breast Health (mammography) department this morning and was treated with respect, kindness and professionalism. I was in and out in under 30 minutes! Thanks to all for making my appointment as stress free as possible.
I brought my husband at ER January 29,2019, we had the worse ER experience ever. Staff are rude, unfriendly. I waited at the nursing station for a long time just to ask simple question. Staff were just ignoring me, staff were passing by me. I was just asking a simple question but nobody seems to care until I raised my voice then 1 staff came to me with a loud tone of voice. Her name is Marcel. She did not even want to listen to to what I say. She said that nurses are busy and continued to defend the staff. I understand that nurses are busy however having treated with respect is all I need. This hospital is beautiful, the most high tech hospital in Canada however staff should treat people who come here with respect. I hope management will do something about this. I only have 1 good thing to say, the doctor who attended my husband is very nice. I regret coming back here. This is my second visit to ER, my first visit at ER was a bad experience, I just gave 1 more try but it is the same. It is worth going to NYGH even though it is farther, staff there treat people better.
Spent the day at Humber River Hospital! I had Hip replacement surgery. The staff was excellent from beginning to end! Dr. Rodriguez is a total rock star and a special thank you to Maria Ayoung a nurse who went the extra mile to make me comfortable after the surgery.
wow! i just cannot believe how rude some of the nurses are. some are great; smart, kind, caring and i appreciate them very much. but the nurses of a certain cultural background are RUDE, uncaring, lazy, and make ALOT of mistakes. some of these nurses talk and shout and cackle all night with their loud bombastic voices. sick people are trying to sleep! show some respect-these are your patients that need their rest! hospital is nice, doctors are caring, techs are thorough, and some nurses are gems. HR needs to really take a look at some of these other nurses and take out the trash!
Sadly I went to this place where they treat you like if you were an animal , worst service ever, the nurses are so rude and disrespectful. I went there with my daughter having really high fever and not even 1 nurse did nothing about it , I understand they have other patients waiting with probably worse conditions than my daughter, but at least they should of had done something about it like give her Tylenol or something to bring the fever down . But instead they kept being disrespectful and ignoring me and my husband when we were complaining , PLEASE NOBODY GO TO THIS PLACE IS THE WORSE MISTAKE YOU CAN EVER MAKE . I hope something gets done about it . Really upsetting ????????
We came to the hospital to have my wife have a test due to she experience during her 7 weeks pregnancy. In order to get 4 tubes of blood my wife went over 8 pokes and 5 difference nurses to get it done. ultrasound technician was awful the way she treat us was like she does not like she was doing. the worst part of our visit was we have to way 11 hours in ER and talked to the doctor(that seems does not care about their patient) for 2 minutes. and what pisses me off was the nurses has a lot of time chatting talking about social media, love life and constant complain that they were tired than following about the lab results or reports if it was completed or not. In my almost 11 hour visit in this hospital i found 10 hours of chatting to their colleague then almost an hour work only for them. I work my butt off to pay my taxes and get this people their freaking salary but it is not fair to get a services like this...
For my experiences, I was visiting my elder patient, one time next door elder felt from the bed, the room alarm sound ON for 2+ minutes before a nurse show up. I think 2 minutes are enough to save a life. Second incident, two nurses were chatting (regular chat, none related to work), I asked them to come in check on my elder that I think he needs something, I was TOTALLY being IGNORED. They stop talking and didn't say a word and DID NOT come to ask me if there any help I needed. They were standing cross my patient room just across the hall where they were standing. That is how I know they were chatting. As u see the pictures I posted, my elder is not psychic. But whoever the nurse tighted and mistreated him. I cloth ropes are very tight to side of the bed, patient CANNOT move freely. Pictures can't tell much, but I know the ropes are so tight that probably no blood able to flow through. Those are my experience and this why I rated so low.
Took my 95 year old mother to Humber River, I waited 6 hrs to speak to the doctor, all tests were being done in the meantime. All the nurses were very kind and helpful, doctor gave very detailed info. She was admitted and the next day I received calls from a social worker, her nurse, and doctor. They are all well organized and follow up was very helpful. I want to THANK everyone who helped us, you truly have a passion for what you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I visited the ED in the early hours of Oct 26. Yes of course I had to wait a long time like everyone else however the staff made all of that okay. When the nurse called my name to take me into an examining room she actually said “You guys are all so amazing! Waiting all that time so patiently!” I said “no, all you guys are amazing.” I’m not sure of the name of the doctor I saw. He was young, professional and very pleasant. I didn’t feel like another “number.” He explained everything he was doing...he took very good care of me. Thank you to all of the staff at the Humber River Hospital ED!! I appreciate you all!
We have never received anything but care. Nursing staffs were so professional and with had a wonderful experience with them.
Terrible. I waited 6 hours after being told I'd wait 2-3 hours. 3 hours in the waiting area, then 1 hour in a room, then 2 hours in another room after being moved with no explanation.
Very Patient Droctor, communcated in a personal manner.
My mother was admitted to this hospital and it was the worst experience of her life. She honestly thought she was going to actually die there from lack of compassion and care. The nurse staff left my mother in the hall with two or three other people in front of her. She was not given a blanket to stay warm even though she had internal bleeding. They gave her a blood transfusion and then sent her home. When my father came to pick her up, they had wheeled her out, and when he asked how to take care of her, they said we don't know and then dropped her off in the cold while my father went to get the car. This is the worst hospital in Ontario. She has frequented many hospitals in her life (unfortunately :-( and she has said this is the worst experience of her life. If you want a compassionate and caring experience with the utmost professionalism, go to the Major Mackenzie hospital. Avoid this hospital at all costs!!!
First of all the cost of parking is disgusting! You’d think you were in downtown Toronto. When calling the hospital the operators are extremely rude. Some nurses are rude and disrespectful to the patients and their families. If you don’t …
They take great care of my mom and other patients, great nurses and doctors.
How do you even call your emergency as "emergency"? WE WAITED FOR 4 HRS for a 5-minute-check-up. My daugter's temp is 40° and vomitting, and these people in the emergency doesn't seem to care. DO YOU EVEN HAVE A DOCTOR ON SITE IN YOUR EMERGENCY FOR OVERNIGHT? BECAUSE I BET, NONE.
I must say that I echo the same experience as many others and so I have to join them and offer Humber the lowest score that I possibly could. October the 31st, 2018 was the most difficult day experienced by me and my family and will forever be remembered. The lack of information and communication for our patient and my family has created many doubts on a daily basis in our heart. Patient care should be priority by care givers in attendance very sadly we felt did not demonstrate. Workshops should be created for compassion and empathy, in order to maintain the quality of life and not death as options. The image of this beautiful structure and facilities are not on the same page of patient care and should not be left up to us for interpretations. After all we’re not Doctors, just desperate families that needed help for our very ill loved one. I am left with more questions than answers and will never get over this dreadful day at Humber hospital. Heart broken forever. Mo
A poor hospital where you have to magically appear at random hours to get a doctor. ***EDIT - my grandmother passed away in this hospital under the most horrible conditions 2 years ago. It took me fighting to get her case heard to get a meeting with specialists that apologized to me. Given the pandemic and how we’ve been treating our most vulnerable residents in LTCs and otherwise, I would highly advise to take your elderly loved one anywhere else than Humber. In fact, I’d rather Wikipedia medical procedures than risk this hospital.
I’m waiting for 4h at the emergency, and I think I’m still waiting a long time, and it’s not a busy day but I don’t see any doctors around. It’s a really joke for those who really need
This is one the best hospital in ontario. My wife and i had our first born here in 2019. And we are back here again we just had a new year baby 2021.The doctor and nurse in the birthing unit are outstanding. Thank you for everything.
I came to visit my mother who was recovering from surgery. I entered through the emergency doors with my husband and son. I was told by a young lady at the entrance to ask registration where she was the triage registration was quite unfriendly to us and we were then directed to the main lobby. When we entered the hallway there was a very rude cleaning staff that yelled at us that the floors were wet. I told her "Yes, we understand that."I did not see any wet floor warning sign used when she was cleaning. She also had no need to yell at us at all as we had a 22 month old in my husband's arms and that was really unnecessary, We have never been to this hospital before so we had no idea where anything was. The woman working at the front desk was normal and professional and told us the room she was in. Out of three elevators to go upstairs there was only one working and the elevators were very, very slow. I've never seen a hospital in my life with only one elevator working. The surgery wing hallways were crammed with medical equipment and the hallways are somewhat narrow. As just a visitor I was not pleased with our experience.
My children and i we would like to thanks the 9th. floor west wing staff for their compassion and support during my husband Paul short staying,of his final days. Thank you so much.
my 1 year old needed 2 stitches, we got there around 9:30 pm and didn't leave till about 1:00 am, the stitches actually took about 5 minutes to complete. I'm sure my family doctor could have taken care of this in way less time if it happened during regular hours. These are the wait times I expect from a poorly run, low budget hospital especially considering the emergency line had 2 people ahead of me. maybe there are some kinks to work out but lets hope things get better.
We recently had our baby here. Maternity has all private rooms. They also don't ask for insurance.
Do not come to this hospital if you want better care for your family members. A family member has been in the ICU unit for a month. A attending doctor order a procedure, twice they booked the procedure and the GI doctors called both times and got the consent but did not show up to perform the procedure. It has been 3 weeks since the order was given but now they are delaying this procedure for another week for a patient that is in the ICU. This hospital needs a overhaul, they need to hire better management and good responsible doctors.
The worst bed side manners I have ever seen. My mom was scheduled to do an MRI at 10 am. At 11:30am I asked what was taking so long they told me that no one had submitted paperwork for the MRI. I continued to ask what time she was going to do the MRI up until 4pm. At 4pm I started to yell at everyone that walked through the hallway and demanded to speak to someone that could tell me what the delay was. At 5pm I was told that the wrong paper work had been filled out and that they needed to fill out the proper paperwork again and get a doctors signature. At this point I called the hospital and blasted everyone that came to the phone and demanded to speak to someone that knew what they were doing. My mom got extremely upset and left the hospital to go and submit herself to a different hospital. Its amazing how my tax dollars goes towards paying for hospitals with services like this!
I had a close family member in 9 West for an extended period. I am so grateful to all of the staff in every department working on that unit. My loved one was well taken care of and I felt confident they were receiving proper care. Cannot thank the Nurses on 9W enough. ❤️
Tonight i was on emergency ward because I had sever pain but they didn’t care they told me to wait for 4hrs still am waiting with my pain
Worst hospital I have ever been too. Was in fast track and it still took over 8 hrs to see a doctor. The staff is unprofessional and rude and there was only 1 doctor working there on the Saturday I went. I waited in agonizing pain for 8 hrs. Horrible, horrible hospital. If I could give this hospital -1 stars, I would. I definitely don’t recommend going to this hospital if you are in severe pain. You might as well die waiting for assistance. Never been so disgusted by human beings and a place that is intended to assist those in need of medical attention. Humber River Hospital sucks!!! Truly trash!!
The ER is a complete joke. The ICU is the worst I have ever come across. Lack of empathy all around. I understand that health care workers are over worked but that doesn't give them the right to treat patients like utter garbage especially in the ICU where many don't survive. Please take your loved one somewhere else I almost lost mine thanks to the unprofessional people in this hospital.
It was probably the worst hospital experience I’ve ever had. I am a healthy young woman with thankfully a high pain tolerance. Yesterday (11/8/19) I basically crawled into the emergency room by myself with a CLEAR AS DAY emergency and the nurses stood by and looked at me like “wtf is this”. After crying in agony trying to make eye contact with a nurse to find help or where to go, one looked at me and asked what was going on. I was in so much pain I couldn’t sit or stop crying but through it all I was polite and responsive because IM THE ONE WHO NEEDED SERIOUS HELP. Their demeanour was as if I shouldn’t be here without an invitation and in nice condition. I felt so embarrassed. I just wanted to leave but the agonizing pain wouldn’t stop. I thought they would eventually care. I arrived around noon didn’t leave until 5 something. Only ran blood test and found nothing. It was clearly something. Next time I will go to the hospital discussed with my family doctor. This one was closer and I was in the middle of an attack so I went here, first time. I can only speak for myself - I will never ever come back because no one wants to feel like this in their worst moments. Also random staff members you try to talk to will ignore you until it’s awkward and someone has to respond to the patient saying “excuse me. Hello. Hi. Hello sorry excuse me” I just wanted a tissue after throwing up in front of them. Many of my family members work in the hospital ( in the states and Montreal) so I know what a kind hearted busy stressed nurse looks and acts like. They were just mean. WITH all this being said, there were two staff members who were kind and spoke to me like a young lady not a nuisance. Edit: Unfortunately, my older sister had an extremely similar situation happen to her on 7/23/21 at around 3am. Without my knowledge, the ambulance was taking her to Humber River Hospital. I wish i was with her. I will keep it SHORT (starting at the end. The whole story is a lot) and say when they came and told her she was discharged, and before she even left her room, she threw up again. She left not knowing why she was throwing up bile and BLOOD, not knowing anything. She did ask for a form with the information of what test they did and what they found in the blood test. From my memory they mentioned something about it being digital towards why she couldnt get a copy. Im sure this hospital is good at something and im sure not everyone will have a TERRIBLE experience during their most unexpected SCARY and PAINFUL time of their life. I guess just me, my sister, my friend and her mother.
They have done an absolutely stellar job with the COVID-19 vaccination clinic. I was blown away with how well organized, safe, and efficient the process was.
I dont even need to explain my self . They are not good unless it's a absolute emergency it shpuld have to come to the point to when a small thing becomes a emergency ..
Emergency ward should be more active with more people and priority should be given to people with pain. Someone coming and waiting for their turn is wrong. Hire more people and act accordingly. And staff is busy making jokes and enjoying themselves. The system is slow that you are waiting for in total 6 hours in emergency operations.
They put 3 hospital together to make it better for everyone. With 3 hospital together that means 3 times the amount of people going to one place like emergency at one time. But they still have only 2 people taking the information and the same 2 Dr taking care of all these people so how does it make it better and faster? ?? I was there Thursday night, I brought my mom there first I had a very hard time getting through all the TAXI that are PARKED right outside of emergency. Right underneath NO PARKING AT ANY TIME SIGN. there was about 10 of them. One had his door open so no one could pass. When you asked him to move that BECK TAXI DRIVER just looked lthe other way. I told security they didn't care they just kept laughing in there little room. No organization within the hospital and that video that they keep playing what a joke. They talk about privacy policy. Then why did the Dr tell every patient what was wrong with them in the waiting room so everyone could hear what was wrong with them. After a 5 hour wait my mom was finally seen .If that is emergency then someone would be dead right now.
The people at this Hospital earn 5 stars and more! The hospital itself is cutting edge technology, but it wouldn't matter without the people behind the machines. From the moment I registered, it was a smooth road to my operation; recovery room; and discharge. Laura who checked me in was patient and explained the process; the nurses who prepped me (Karina); the anesthesiologist; surgery nurses; and Olga the nurse who sat with me in Recovery - everyone was patient, compassionate, helpful and kind. For a scary experience, they helped me relax and cared for me in the best way. Thank you!
Had a cut on my hand ... went to the Hospital to have it Stitched. They Refused because I had waited more than 12 hours to do so. Went to another Hospital ... they happily Stitched my hand and did a great job. Healed well now
Hunber River hospital is one off the best hospital and Toronto. Super professional and my sergun the best Dr.Jhon Townley amazing he did a right serjury on my left shoulder..big Repair big damage now like new he did amazing job.thanks to him . I will recommend to any one .number #1 thank you. Dr.
Shame on this hospital for charging $45 for the ambulance, for a 91 year old woman on Old Age Supplement. Even after calling and explaining her situation they still refused to refund this charge . If this is standard practice then why doesn't North York General also charge her for the ambulance ?
If I could give 0 stars I would. Considering this a fully equipped hospital that is supposed to be high advanced in technology really doesn’t say much. The wait times are ridiculous, doctors hardly spend anytime with you, nurses could careless that their patients beds haven’t been cleaned for days, and it seems they always mess up procedures and need to go back and fix something. As well as you would think there would be a better food court selection rather than the 4 options they have. Parking is also a joke, you would think you’re downtown. After the first hour it becomes $23. For it being a brand new hospital, they lack so many things. Highly suggest you go somewhere else first before coming here.
Have to agree with others party in the house at the nursing station. Patient with drug issues walking into your room and no one will stop them.
My baby boy is here and healthy and it is all thanks to Dr. Caprara and her team as well as the amazing nurses at Humber River Hospital. Every nurse and doctor whom I had a pleasure meeting went over and above. The delivery room and private mommy and me rooms were clean, spacious and modernized which made it feel just like home.
The absolute worst emergency department I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I came in with severe abdominal pain and ended up waiting 8.5 hours to get the results and a diagnosis, which was inconclusive. The admitting doctor barely examined me, or paid attention to the fact that I'm in pain, and was extremely unpleasant. She ordered a number of tests, including an ultrasound and I ended up waiting all night for those. The doctor finished her shift and left without so much as a 'good night, another doctor will be caring for you from now on'. The waiting time (8.5 hrs!) for the ordered tests was absolutely unreasonable - 2 hours just to have my blood drawn and 5 hours to get the ultrasound done. I felt so aweful and so much pain by the end that I teared up. At the 8.5 hour mark I went up to the nurses area (crying) and requested attention as it had been all night of waiting at that point. On the first attempt, the nurse said they're still waiting for my ultrasound results. On the second attempt, she finally brought the matter to a doctor's attention who agreed to see me and give me my results. I would strongly recommend to steer clear of this horrific ER if you can, and go to another hospital. I'm sure there are way more competent ER departments somewhere in the city.
This review is about the pediatric walk-in clinic in the hospital. I took my 6 month old here after hours. I was promptly greeted by reception as I was the only one there. However, registration took over 30 mins (seems like the person was new, or they updated their computer system), which is not their fault. They did apologize for the delay. We were seen by the nurse immediately for the basic info (weight, temp, history, etc) but it took over an hour to be seen by the doctor after that. Don’t forget that we were the ONLY ones there when I checked-in (all the exam rooms were empty). To make matters worse, the family that came in after us was seen before us. I understand the need to triage sometimes, but from what I overheard, this was not the case. Not only that, but no explanations or apologies were given as to why the appointment ended up being 2 hours long when we were the first people to check-in.
Staff are rude and disrespectful. No introduction from hospital staff members including nurses or technicians. No explanation about the procedure. Not even a hello. This was my first time at the facility with my mother. I am extremely disappointed. The facility is huge and beautiful but the staff are horrible. No sense of patient centred care or making the patient feel comfortable in a new environment. I would rate them a 0 and recommend the hospital to seriously improve their patient centred care standards.
My father has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He came into this hospital on Christmas Day due to a breathing attack, we arrived at 2am. He had a couple of episodes and when I went out to mention it to the nurse she continued to type away and not react or help my father. Not to mention we were still waiting past 11am to see a doctor, I feel like like their priority isn’t the patient. I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone.
Great experience at this hospital. Gave birth here and compared to the birth at Etobicoke's William Osler. There's a big difference. This place is much spacious and clean. The food court on thr main floor has more variety for people staying for days at the hospital. Has a Tim Hortons and Paramount.
Worse experience ever, I need to show my health card 3 places in hospital. All staff is very lazy, only one Doctor was looking after 20 patients in same time, went to emergency but I spend there 8 hrs and what medicine they give? Absolutely nothing. They need more Doctors and people should not wait more than 1hr because it’s call emergency.
If there was a way to rate them zero stars I would. If you want to die come to this hospital. I had to wait three hours for doctor today and still didn’t get to see one three hours later because they had a shift change so the whole staff was just having a party talking and laughing while I was in my room crying of pain for three hours they had patients sleeping on the beds in the hallways because staff was too busy having conversations amongst themselves then actually help the sick patients. I felt like I was going to die and no one cared worst hospital ever!! Saddest experience ever.
Waited an hour only for a doctor to assume what I had in 2 minutes (didn't even check the lump I came in for until I mentioned it twice) They later referred me to a specialist who assured me they would contact me in a few days, if not, I was supposed to call them. I call the specialist a week later and the receptionist says they have no record of me and the doctor probably forgot to refer me, and now they're now fully booked until March! Thanks Humber! Would rather risk my life going to a hospital farther away than come to Humber again.
The hospital is virtually empty when you consider its size and what it's occupancy capacity is, yet you sit in the waiting room with 10 people for 2hrs!!!! 2!!!. Are they under staffed in certain areas? Because they're blaming covid for the ridiculous extended wait period. You would die thinking you'd get through.
My wife and I had our first born at Humber River Hospital. The staff from the Birthing Unit and Mother and Baby Unit were so friendly and knowledgeable. They were very patient with us and tended to all of our requests. During the birthing process, we were assigned a full time nurse. Her presence was very reassuring especially to first timers. We were also seen by several other HCPs including two pediatricians. Overall, our experience was very positive.
Worst experience ever for a first timer! Went to try the pediatric outpatient clinic for my daughter. Lesser wait time as compared to the emergency dept. Attending nurse is helpful and friendly. Worst experience we had with a doctor. Dr AlShabana attented my daughter but we had the WORST experience we had with a doctor. Talk about customer service and patient information. It's not too busy yet he's rushing us. Told us that our daughter is just fine with Tylenol with her condition and went home without any prescription. Went to walk in clinic the following day and she was diagnosed with a suspected Pneumonia and was given antibiotic right away. Won't be coming back to this part of the hospital again as the doctor can't be trusted with his diagnosis. Sometimes a parent's instinct will tell you that something's going on. Very disappointed!
On Oct. 23rd/19, Ellie, our 6 years old little girl, went to Humber River Hospital Pediatric Department for a day surgery on her ear; an operation that took one hour. She was quite scared to be hurt, but thanks to the exceptional detailed care and preparation provided by a special team dedicated especially in preparing the child for a positive experience, Ellie wasn't scared anymore. In fact, not only Ellie was re-assured that she wouldn't suffer any pain, I to was re-assured that everything would be fine. The hospital has also "Pepper" a child robot that participates in preparing the child for a not soooo scary experience. I was highly impressed with the program they have established for their pediatric department. I think that all hospitals would highly benefit by adapting this Humber River Hospital pediatric program which they have developed and established more than 20 years ago.
The ER is a complete joke. You are waiting hours without a doctor in sight. Hospital looks very beaten up with lack of care despite being quite new. Staff does not care for its patients.
A high tech building with a horrible third world health care
I totally agree, no matter how modern and advance this hospital is, some of it's people/staff should not work in the healthcare. no compassion, no care and complete attitude and entitlement. My 75 year old mother fell and called 911, she arrived at the hospital quickly and the ambulance staff were kind and attentive to her condition. She was bleeding and was in severe pain. The triage nurse told me that she needs to go to "fast track" as she only needs to be bandaged and go home.. I told her its impossible, she cant even stand and she is bleeding, she is on blood thinner pills, I think she needs an xray as i am suspecting she broke her leg. She argued with me and made my mom move from the stretcher to the wheel chair, then returned and said" i changed my mind, "put her back in bed. OMG for real, my poor mom was shaking and was in agony of pain... and she changed her mind... 1 hour later after waiting in the hallway without any regards... i started to ask if anyone was going t help her, she was taken to the acute section.... there we waited another 3h for a doctor... NOBODY CARED ... no blood work, no xray, no medication for pain, no sense of emergency. My mom was in so much pain she heart rate reached 105 and blood pressure was above 210 .... i started to ask if there is a doctor that is going to come... finally the doctor came, order xrays and instructed the nurse to give her a strong pain medication... it turned out my mom had a fractured ankle with damage to ligaments and requires a surgery. I spent 10h in emergency before we knew what was happening. So sad such a beautiful hospital, with so much potential, that could be a champion in medicine and care. i agree not everyone is the same, but your EMERGENCY department staff, all need some training and reminded they chose this job to care and provide care for the sick and suffering, I was told that night " welcome to canada health system" . Shame on that person. is not the Health system, is the people that work in the health system. Maybe all the corporate and CEO staff, should come down on the hospital floors and see for yourself.
My wife had her c section done in this hospital and the experience we had was amazing. The staff was so caring. Dr. Nadel did a great job and we welcomed our little princess in this world with so much care and love provided by the staff. All the nurses took very good care of my wife and our little munchkin. All the credit goes to the staff for making this experience really awesome for us.
My mom got extremely disappointed with the service, staff are acting like they have power over people violating their scope of practice rules.
The ER was completely packed with only 2 people registering (took 1 1/2 hour wait) then another hour to be put in a exam room. Dr prescribed pain meds which took another hour to come. I was told I needed to be admitted and had to wait sitting in a chair in the waiting room for another 2 hours before I was taken to my room....the waiting was unbearable..getting to the hospital at 4pm..and not getting a room until after 12am..when I asked for a progress report they gave an excuse that it takes that long to get a room ready. Come on . . were not that stupid. Beautiful hospital but poorly run and understaffed.
I understand because of the pandemic visitors are not allowed or they need to limit it. My sister brought there by ambulance, I called them after 2 1/2 hours to ask how is she, and staff from EMS department could not even give me a single …
We went to the hospital because my wife is pregnant and had bleeding, so we were worried about the baby. (We were instructed by the family OB-GYN to go to the emergency room in case of bleeding, because my wife's pregnancy is considered high risk due to previously losing our baby). We waited from 11:08pm until 5:15am only to be told that there are no doctors, and they are expecting one doctor to come in an hour, but there's a long list of more important patients even though we were waiting the longest, because apparently babies are expendable. Yep, that's how "important" you and your child are to Humber River hospital! (By the way, at 5am they were not only no doctors, but also no nurses or staff...it was an empty floor with 25 patients waiting for one magical unicorn doctor!) So we left and went to Sunnybrook hospital. We were admitted right away, and saw a doctor within 20 minutes!
Do not do covid 19 test in here, I have change my flight schedule for several times, it cost my 1000dollars to change.
This hospital is a joke! Mother brought in Saturday morning in emergency. Due to Covid-19 restrictions I was not able to accompany her, she is a senior with no English comprehension. Was told i would receive updates such liars. I was constantly calling them, couldn't get thru always put on hold. Wasn't able to reach her until Sunday. Still no update on her condition. Tried calling her today again no update, nurses station phone keeps ringing called 3 times. Room phone keeps ringing . They won't even go into her room to check on why she is not picking up, just told oh she is sleeping. Such BS!
One of the staff here is horrible. His name is Kevin Ly. This nurse abuses his authority by making fun of patients at their times of need. I once walked into him inappropriately touching a patient. I recommend that he be monitored as we do not need this type of behavior during such dire times.
If you come to the hospital for tests, it’s great. If you come to Emergency at this hospital, you’re screwed. My mom was in a car accident, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance as she was experiencing chest pains and her blood pressure was sky high..... that was at approximately 1:15pm. I got to the hospital at 2:00pm, and she’s sitting in the waiting room in the “Fast Track” area..... it’s now 5:20pm, and all they have done so far is taken some blood.... Maybe get rid of the name Fast Track.... IT’S A NO JOKE, and maybe fix your “complimentary” phone charging stations, none in that area work ????. Definitely NOT a hospital you want to come to when you have an emergency... I’m hearing that there’s only one doctor in this area now.... perfect ????.
My Husband was there for an operation and remain there for a day and half. According to him the care from the begin to the end of his staying was spectacular and he has nothing but good things to say about the staff and the care. Dr. figueroa and his team were awesome and many thanks to all. My husband never had any major operation in his life. All of them went out of their way to comfort him and put him at eased. He is very thankful not enough words to express his gratitude. He is so happy and relieve that we have the best people in our health care system . Thank you Jurgen ( I love you guys)
This place is huge and pretty well kept. Clean and easy to navigate. The staff I had the chance to encounter were all very nice; some may come off as rude but they aren't, just very straight forward. I had a good experience here when I came for my day surgery so I'm not sure why this hospital has many bad reviews.
I was abused by the staff at the hospital. After recovering from surgery the staff was rude to me and insulted my ability to keep my heart rate up and threatened me saying if I don't I'm wasting her time at the hospital after I was injected morphine. After that she refused for me to use the washroom and told me to urinated on the floor for 2 hours. I was in constant pain with my kidney issues and she said she wouldn't let me see my family. After I raised my heart rate up, she was flirting with a staff member and refused to provide my information to him until he "gave her his number" It was insulting and at the end I suffered Kidney failure from the surgery from her actions. She needs to be fired for her actions. This hospital is a joke with these kind of staff members who don't care about you and care about getting laid the next day over a patients medical needs
sat morning I was here and doctor told me I had inflammation around my heart! 5 days later I come in with serious chest pains and trouble breathing and NO ONE IS HERE might I add and I've been waiting for over 2 hours in a cold room!!!! Some guy with a cut on his finger got seen before me. Still currently waiting. This is ridiculous!!!!! It's 5 am and I'm having trouble breathing and no doctors in site. All nurses keep walking by my room I'm in so much pain!! Never come here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From the moment I arrived I was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. Abulatory division for cystoscopy. All parties involved were absolutely stellar! Procedure was painless and Dr. Barkin addressed all my concerns. Top tier facility and staff. Thank you.
Worst hospital ever seen spicially Doctors they don’t know anything just they have the license
Great service. I was thoroughly impressed. I was seen at triage in minutes, and registered. It was clean. Not over crowded. Doctor was thorough with tests. Very reassuring.
I came to the ED for chest pain and known inflammation to the sternum at 11am. I saw someone and went through blood work and x-rays about 4 hours later. I received a weak pain killer and then waited 3 hours as pain was getting worse, I was told I was told twice that I am waiting for a second assessment. About another hour later the doctor calls me up to tell me everything looked “normal” , I can leave and should follow up with my family doctor... I was here 2 years ago for the same problem, before discovering the pain was from inflammation on the sternum. That time they did no tests and gave me ibuprofen. This may be my own fault for coming back here! Hoped for more after all this time.
I am not sure if it was worth it to be on the line for 1 hour to get tested for COVID. I had an appointment to take a COVID test at HRH Church site on Sunday afternoon at 14:30. I was there at 14:10. When I arrived there was a line up, almost 40 people were waiting for their test to be done. All of them had an appointment scheduled online between 14:00 and 14:30. How it is possible to have all 40 people to get their appointment at the same time. I am wondering how many out of this 40 will have positive result.
Usually a good emergency debt.. But not tonight. Been waiting since 9:10pm. I get that it's busy, but it's 1am and after asking what is going on I have been told that my chart didn't move with me. I am in ozone and my chart was outside in emergency. So I didn't get called when I was suppose to. Will update later.
Worst hospital in Toronto. I literally got here at 8:45pm it is now 5:57am and I still don't know what's wrong with me. I usually go to north york gen. They are 100 times better
I had surgery at Humber River Hospital and everyone was so lovely. All the receptionists, nurses, volunteers etc. It really helped me to stay calm during the day of my surgery and I really felt well taken of. Thank you to all the surgical OR team and support staff! :)
Never go again .... my 5 old had stomach pain, took to family doctor . Prescribed dehydration juice . It didn't help. Took to this useless hospital emergency on the 3rd day. After waiting 3hr doctor came. Checked and said that he is not too worried. And asked to wait for ultrasound. Waited 2hr more . My 5 year old started cry more because of hungry and dehydration. Asked the doctor . He said, it may take 30 min to 3 hr more . Irresponsible . For an ultrasound they made my child wait 7hrs without food or drink . Poor kid suffered a lot on that day. At least they should have finished the ultrasound and let my baby drink some ...
It is the most unpleasant experience that I have had in a hospital in Canada just for a discomfort that I have in my right eye, since 6 p.m. Until 11: 7 and they still haven't treated me and I told them twice and nothing happens, and also another person complains of pain in his knee but they don't treat you, this is inhuman.
Hi, just pass by to say that me and the wife we are here right now and been waiting for 4 hours. My wife fell off and is bleeding from her face and it's swelling up. We need a doctor to do a CT scan and Nobody care. It's not the first time that we have bad experience at this hospital! My last time in this place.
Excellent care provided. Wonderful staff.
If I could give this hospital negative stars, I would. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. I have never seen a hospital worse than this one - it fails to provide healthcare and fails to better its own patients the way it functions on its own. We took my grandpa here because he was unable to eat - he became worse after leaving this hospital and returned home with literally no fat. He was basically just a skeleton. This hospital kept forcing him to take 30 different medicines despite him consistently throwing up everything after. They sent him home in this condition - got him home care, but still didnt do anything. We got sick of it - it was either we take him to a different hospital with competent doctors or he dies (he couldnt walk, speak, eat). Took him to Sunnybrook instead - his appetite is back, he no longer throws up whenever he eats/drinks water, he can speak and sort of walk again: hes gaining energy again. Humber River Hospital is the worst hospital in its history - and I strongly encourage patients to go elsewhere. We also found out through Sunnybrook what was causing him to vomit every time he drank or ate. Sunnybrook gave my grandpa ONE medicine - it completely stopped the vomiting and now he can eat again. Humber River gave my grandpa 30 MEDICINES (we had a paper with a list of 30) and it was looking like he was about to die. Turns out a scan of his esophagus was all he needed - Im guessing the doctors at Humber River looked at the scan and couldnt figure out it was linked to his vomiting, prescribing him so many medicines for no reason. Imagine being a doctor and not being able to figure this out!! The doctors at Sunnybrook even laughed at the whole story, its crazy!
Been there on many occasions with respect to my mom's health issue's. All in all, I can honestly say that we have been happy with the overall care of everything. Great staff.
To my surgeon Dr. Barry Cayen his staff and all the staff including resgistrstion of the Humber River Hospital. On Monday December 16th I had an anterior left hip replacement. As frightened as I was the staff's compassion and constant communication was very reassuring. Not only did i receive exceptional care but the same care was afforded my husband and daughter who spent the whole day with me at the hospital. From the initial appointment in the fracture clinic, xray dept., pre and post surgical care including recovery, i am most grateful. It has been five days and I feel great. To express our gratitude we have made a donation to your hospital. Please accept my thanks and please have a safe and Holy Christmas. Mrs Carolanne Babuik To add to my comment, I had to return to the hospital ER department today because i was having trouble with my medical device. I want to thank the entire staff. When I entered I followed check in procedures then waited my turn to see a doctor. I advised the registration that I was not sure if it was an emergency but she assured me it is better to be safe and have the device looked at. I was escorted to O Zone by a very pleasant gentleman and then escorted to an exam room nurses were prompt and courteous then last but not least Dr. Vilensky, i want you to know that you and your staff gave me kind compassionate and wonderful care. Thank you
There is a reason why this hospital has the worst reviews for doctors and hospitals in Toronto. While naturally it is not all staff there, a fair number of them are the worst of the worst when it comes to doctors and nurses in Toronto. These are people who cannot get jobs at the other hospitals in Toronto. There is a culture that breeds egotisitcal rude staff who will gaslight you when you call them out on their poor behaviour and care here. It's appalling and permeates throughout the hospital. If you can go to any other Toronto area hospital, I would recommend doing so.
Doctors are very friendly in nature but need improvement in management.
This review isn't a reflection of all health care workers at this facility, but unfortunately it only takes a few to make a bad experience and impression. The health care profession is a tough one, emotionally ,mentally and shouldn't ask for above and beyond, I thank those workers who show compassion and empathy towards patients as if family and take that extra time, even when time is what they fight against, but also respect those who punch in and out and leave it all behind once they walk out the doors. But some compassion, empathy and dignity is needed in these tough covid times, all we needed was a phone call from 1 of many assessment doctors to tell us, explain to us or answer some questions about my father, even if we may not understand. 2 contacts were given, yet none were used , until he took his last breath as a husband, father and grandfather . Especially during these times when limited visits are allowed, we can't be there during doctors assessments, and unfortunately not being able to hold his hand during his last breath. Fair or not, our health system shouldn't be able to function like this, not an easy fix at all, but it is needed. Not to blame them, but maybe the system? Who knows? But in a time when we need to show the best of ourselves, we should rise to the occasion and help anyway we can, even if it's a simple phone call . Communication is important no matter how bad or good the information given is. Thanks to the health care workers that go that extra effort, and also the ones that can see it as just a job, it's one of the hardest professions out there that not many can do or choose to do. Overall very disappointing and disheartening for family members of loved ones under this hospitals care.
Possibly the worse experience I’ve ever encountered with the Mother & Child Unit Nurses on Floor 4. I have never experienced a nurse telling a patient (my wife) that there is nothing wrong with her, and speaking about her symptoms as if she was the one to be experiencing them at that given moment. Not allowing her to tell the doctors how she is feeling, constantly cutting her off while talking and saying things that never left my wife’s mouth. Came in concerned about her Water Breaking, and before she even went into the room to be checked out, got told nothing was wrong with her ....Overall it was the worse experience due to one nurse. VERY VERY VERY POOR SERVICE, AND A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT ALSO I REFUSE TO HAVE MY CHILD DELIVERED AT THIS HOSPITAL.
