They try there best
They were so fantastic with my son. He doesn't want to go back but it's definitely not because of the nurses.
Very caring, thoughtful staff, very quick response on callbacks and booking.
I am not a fan of going to any hospital. But in the past I always preferred to go to the Dieu as the care was always excellent. Especially when the Sisters were involved in the daily operation of the Dieu. However over the last few years the level of care has gone down dramatically. I find that a lot of the staff are impatient and down right ugly with the patients. There are some amazing people working for the Dieu and I truly appreciate them. But they seem to be more and more in the minority. Today I had to accompany my gf to the Dieu for some diagnostic tests. She was nervous and scared. The man who was waiting at the main entrance was abrupt and just plain rude. Both of us were taken aback. I was not allowed to stay in the hospital to wait with her. I was told I had to wait outside. In the rain and the cold. There was no accomodation made for myself and others. People had come with elderly patients, and those with mobility issues. But they were outside like myself. I get we are in the middle of a minor pandemic but where is the care, concern or compassion for people who are scared, confused or in pain? I saw next to nothing of this when I was in the admitting area of the hospital. The man at the door dispensing masks and sanitizer acted like he had a big chip on his shoulder, and was obviously hating the fact he was working there. I felt like informing him that if he wasn't happy with his well paid job, he could always work one that is truly difficult, that of a cashier during the height of a pandemic making only minimum wage. I get that this is a stressful area to work and a stressful time, but if you are only working at a hospital because it's a job then you are not doing anyone a service.
I was taking a picture of city hall from the room in Hotel Dieu
My husband spent 6 hours there yesterday and they literally made him feel worse than before he went. Because I had to wait outside he had no one to advocate for him. Who wants to just waste a day of their life for no reason. It took me three days to convince him to even go in the first place and they checked his blood sugar, took a urine sample, gave him a crisis hotline number, told him to get a family doctor and sent him on his way. They gave no indicators about what might be happening to him and made him feel like he was wasting their time. Just because he wasn't bleeding everywhere or didn't have covid. I don't get it. All the places I called for help recommended we go there, and then they just brushed him aside and recommended he go somewhere else. Are we going to have to start paying in order to get thorough healthcare? Very disappointing
Efficient and friendly
I've been there a few times when I was unable to get a Doctors appt. and/or my symptoms worsened over the weekend. For myself, they were always quick and very informational. Knew the right medication to give me and for how long (hasn't been the case for some other places).
Dr said I had an abscess,, apparently I did not. He put too much freezing in . When I said I felt nauseous he whipped the chair around and got a nurse. Horrible experience. The nurses were very kind, but Dr Jones was gruff and short tempered.

Had a wonderful experience the first call I had with a doctor. Because of the covid, I'm not sure what happened. I didn't get call like I was supposed to or at least get a email or voice message if I did miss the call. My condition is not serious, so I don't need a follow-up? I guess I'll call next time.
The Hotel Dieu Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in Kingstons history. I remember when its nurses were nuns (Sisters) and priests came and visited you on a regular basis, Now the beds are gone and all the rooms are now clinics. The Emergency Room is now Urgent Care and is now very busy and is only open until 8pm. Leaving its hours 8am - 8pm. After that you must go to the Kingston General Hospital Dont worry the best care happens at the Urgent Care of the Hotel Dieu Hospital. The Staff is excellent.
I was at KGH for 3 weeks and despite hardly any testing and seeing countless drs, they have no diagnosis, did little to no diagnostics, made promises that couldn’t be kept and kept me waiting constantly for something to be done besides pain control I went there after a 3 month struggle of epigastric pain, lack of appetite, very rapid weight loss, diarrhea, unable to feel my bladder, vomiting, weakness, low potassium x2 and other symptoms, I was still an enigma to these so called specialists. We had a big meeting and very shortly into the meeting I read between the lines and that is they were giving up on me and giving their best guess, which is wrong! I was so disgusted, dissatisfied and disappointed that I started to pack my things up. I read between the lines very well and I went through 8 roommates. It was so hard to get any uninterrupted sleep I had to put a bit on the door for people just to close it. On the upside, thee food (when I was finally allowed to have it after 2 weeks) was really good and the variety was phenomenal!!! They wanted me to continue on an outpatient basis and it’s a 4-5 hour round trip for someone with chronic back pain on top of all the diff types of pain being experienced. The Drs, were not very informative as far as when and how to apply any treatment and when they decided to cut my pain control just a few days after we got it dialed in and hit “the sweet spot” of pain control. I was left in my own feces for 24 hours, quarantined simply because of a reaction to some radioactive dye I’d ingested for a test that I had to push for. I was in agony for 4 hours before getting any pain relief and that was after the weakness, vomiting and diarrhea. They thought I might have C-Diff and this was 2 wks after being admitted to hospital this reaction happened. My mother is a retired nurse and she was fighting for me as well, when she was there and able to talk to my “Dr”. There’s constant interruptions so, it’s hard to get any sleep during the daytime unless, u have no roommate and all ur meds are on a diff schedule. I’d get woken from a dead sleep tontake the most benign of meds and asked not to be woken up during the night cuz I’m sleeping. If I’m up, totally diss story... This was the place that had trained my mother, my sister and currently training my niece to be a nurse and yes, they’re under appreciated. Hands down. But it also depends on the nurse you have. If I choose to pursue this further, I’ll have no choice but to go to Toronto or Ottawa for care. I’ve been ill since November 16th and there’s no end in sight. I DO NOT recommend being treated by Drs Kathryn Hays, Katherine Lowe, Wiley Chung and Dr. Villamere because they did little to nothing during my 3 week stay. Costing hundreds of $$$ in fuel, hotels, food, parking and other incidental costs. My mom is a saint and God bless her and my one sister for visiting me. Without them and their positivity, I think I’d still be in the dark and kicked out of another Hospital after my local one after being there twice and 10 days total for the same issues. It was left up to me to make the phone calls, call the pharmacy and play guinea pig so these so called experts could do their jobs. They all failed me. My LIHN has failed me and even my family Dr failed me by undermedicating and putting me through agony cuz they’re all worried about prescribing the small amount of narcotic pain meds needed to control pain, just so that I could eat and sleep. I’m tired of falling through the cracks and wished there was a Dr out there who can fix whatever is wrong with me.
I had surgery at Hotel Dieu in November 2017. With the exception of one nurse, my treatment was excellent!! Being under the influence with pain medication I made several failed attempts at using toilet. I couldn't bend to clean up after myself and felt for the nurses that did clean up. Not one of them complained and I apologized profusely. Unfortunately 1 nurse had a huge part in my intended 5 star rating. I was refused the use of a phone after my own cell phone battery died and I was unable to recharge. I needed to make arrangements to be picked up the next morning as I live 60 miles away. Being sore and under the influence as I call it, I was forced into this argument and line of questioning about not having friends close by?? Did I need that NO! Eventually after threatening to complain to my Doctor in the morning, I was granted that 3 minute phone call. Upon checking with other nurses, I was told I should never been given that treatment. So kudos to all the OTHERS who took part in my recovery and the care given. Sorry you had one that took the rest of you down to a 4 Star rating. If it had been her alone the rating would have been much lower but didn't want the rest of you to suffer from her incompetence.
Never a fan of the hospital but the staff including the specialists have been super patient and kind during my visits. With the Covid-19 restrictions taking over EVERYTHING this place has managed to keep business at a good pace.

My mom has been to the GI Clinic. Long waits and told me that the nurse was extremely rude to her. My mom has Scleroderma and needs to see a Specialist for her liver. I think it is awful to speak to patients the way the nurse did. When my mom brought up about the long wait times she just said, "if you don't like it, leave!" She would leave if it wasn't a 3 hour drive to get there. She never sees just one doctor but sees a different doctor every time she goes.
At least 2 hours to talk to a doctor, what a service.
Incredibly high quality of care, and a great after-hours clinic.

Great place when ya need help
Had to see a doctor on very short notice for an injury that came out of no where. Staff were extremely accommodating, even taking up my request for a female resident without any hesitation or stress. Got in at 8:38 am and out in time to catch my train at 11:30 am . In some places a waiting time like that is unheard of , especially on a Monday morning ???? thank you to everyone who accommodated me
It took over 4 hours for a family member experiencing heart pain to be seen by staff. This was on a weekday in the middle of the day when they were fully staffed. There are no excuses for this poor level of care.
If you can figure out what’s wrong with you on your own with the tools of the internet and you aren’t bleeding out, don’t go here. It took me four hours to be seen and told something ridiculously simplistic I could’ve figured out myself. Get ready to be ignored and put into one seat to another. The wait times are absolutely atrocious and I’ve experienced that every single time I’ve been here. What a joke.
Waste of your time. Sat in triage with a broken wrist for 3 hours and still wasn't seen. Skipped by multiple inmates and even had a lady with an open wound sitting next to me the whole time. Waste of tax payers money
I had to get something done here and the staff were friendly, and very helpful.
Dr Kelley has me helped me greatly. Highest recommendation. I've also gone to Hotel Dieu for a lab test and an ultrasound, and both were well done.
Despite all of the challenges of running a hospital during a global pandemic, the staff are always so kind and patient. I want to send a special thank you to the cardiology department (echo lab) - they always go above and beyond for a comfortable experience. I joked today that it was kind of like being at a spa... dim lighting, light noises, and deep tissue massage. The gel was a bit cold though (ha!). In all seriousness, all of the staff that I have encountered here, either for my own appointments or those for my kids, have been extraordinary. Thank you.
I saw Dr. Asai yesterday. I found her down-to-earth, respectful, fun, and funny. I trusted her authority. I felt seen and heard by her.
Good service by experienced doctors.
They are an amazing staff
Absolutely terrible service if you're seeking help with psychiatric care or mental health. They will give up on a patient to accommodate their schedule and completely abandoned many cases that were not satisfied. Sickening to think who works for our mental well being these days... the saftey staff at the front entrance do an excellent job however especially since the covid 19 pandemic. (They are the only reason this place deserves even 1 star)
LIFE WITHOUT GOOD HEALTH CARE IS LIKE LIFE WITHOUT BREAD. ADD THE WINE AND YOU ARE FEELING BETTER ALREADY. IT IS IMPORTANT TO APPRECIATE BOTH. THANKS TO THE HOTEL DIEU! FROM JAMES AND VIV CHAPESKIE
Friendly and fast!
I can not speak to the quality of care you may receive at this medical establishment, but I can provide some information about the lovely shade available on the Brock Street side of the facility. There is a nice little side yard where you can avoid the sun, sip on a Canada Dry ginger ale, and make some memorable Video Art with your significant other, family members, or even complete strangers! What a magical little area to let your human body occupy...
I am here a lot for clinic appointments - the staff are very friendly and personable once you get to know everyone and they start to recognize you it makes you much more at ease especially during more difficult times Shout out the JM 5 crew
I like this hospital BUT number 1, the parking pass thing needs to be better, that is, when put in the voucher for parking pass it should be a 1-insert card 2-print receipt 3-pay method type thing..last 2 times was at this hospital did not get a receipt because of the way machine is set up, it eats your pass to print out the one needed to leave the parking garage, some folks like me need the receipt for tax purposes, should not have to fight with machine to get one. As well, this hospital should absolutely give phone calls to arrange appointments instead of just blanket mailing the time and date and expecting you to take it or call to cancel it..a quick phone call and actually leave a damn voice mail would go a long way to increasing patient satisfaction, they do not seem to be in a rush to do this, take months and months to get any type of calling you, do not leave voice mail, but sure enough will send snail mail for "please donate" do proper phone call/voice mail for appointment scheduling with at least giving information on who you must call back instead of just seeing the phone number of who may have called. I have a neurologist I NEED to keep in contact with, can never get in touch with him, scheduling is a mess for something that is "need to take care of before situation gets worse" I feel comfortable in this hospital more than any other I have been at in my life, but their parking design as well as their appointment scheduling is a major crapshoot to say the least. ++++++++++++++edit a week or whatever after I posted the above I was called by a "customer care specialist for this hospital, she talked to me for about 20 minutes or something like this to help me understand/ask what she would be able to do. I forget her name (terrible with names unless say many times multiple occasions) anyways, she told me she would get in touch with my Dr...Dr Brunet prior to my appointment this Wednesday...she told me to expect a call back about a week later after she had a chance to talk to him or his team, I have not heard anything back in over 3 months now. I can understand privacy concerns and am sure they are busy people and all, but seriously, I have called and called and called and they never bother to call back, so they cannot do appointment scheduling over the phone (which has been stated as could not be done, short of manpower and/or privacy concerns) but at the very least they (the hospital let alone your specific physician/team) should call back if one takes the time out of their day to call them and leave a message. so, do not know WHY the appointment is (even though it was scheduled and sent via mail to attend the appointment) many many months later, and when I was told by customer care specialist or whatever they would get in contact with my neurologist to see if other tests could be arranged or whatever and she would personally call me back "sometime next week" over 3 months later still have not heard anything. Not impressed, I like this hospital as far as "comfort factor" but the lack of communication is VERY disheartening to say the least :(
Wow...we were in and out of this place so fast. Our first time there, arrived at 7.30 pm and were out by 7.45. Staff was great. It took us longer to find a parking spot then seeing a doctor.
Hi everyone. I had my dental cyst removal surgery on 13.09 .2017 . I was treated very well by everyone. No racism at all. God bless all of you. Lots of love and respect. DR YIM IS ALWAYS A GOOD MAN. God bless again.
The care was great the doctor that put the cast of my hand was careful and nice... If you're going there for xrays around 8am you're in the waiting room for 1 minutes in the back waiting to get XRayed for 5 and waiting for you're results for 10 minutes it was in and out within an hour.
Staff very competent, and through! A clean, caring and compassionate environment.

All of the receptionists, nurses, and doctors that I interacted with were polite and efficient. The waiting rooms were comfortable. Had a 3 hour wait to see a doctor, which I was expecting. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at HDH.
And cutest gift shop! Help desk very useful
Excellent! .....Very professional & fast service
Wonderful People except the Volunteer Coordinator
This used to be a good hospital. Not anymore... Like others have said, staff here is rude and people stand around and chat a lot! Watch out for the nurse Nancy... she is so incredibly rude and feels you should be doing her job for her! I'm glad I don't live in Kingston anymore! If you need medical care, drive to another city, because they don't care in this one!
Everyone I talked to was happy, efficient, chatty(efficiently) and made me feel like I was a human being. Plus, y'know. My Dr. She's cool.
Excellent health Care facility with knowledgeable caring staff Thank you do very much for your dedicated service
The staff here are very kind caring and professional, the emergency department has a positive and friendly atmosphere. Anytime I have had a health issue that cannot wait for my family Dr, the staff at Hotel Dieu have been very helpfull in adressing the concern.
They don't help you at all don't waste your time
This is a good running hospital they're professional services
I had a sore throat and a bleeding tonsil. I went in around noon and was immediately triaged and put in a room. Doctor saw me within the hour and everybody was so nice and helpful. Canadian healthcare at its best. I think I waited longer at the pharmacy for my prescription than at the hospital to see a doctor
I had to get something done here and the staff were friendly, and very helpful.
Very nice staff and great doctors
Dr Kelley has me helped me greatly. Highest recommendation. I've also gone to Hotel Dieu for a lab test and an ultrasound, and both were well done.
Great Hospital and Staff.
I recently had surgery here and the staff, doctors and nurses were absolutely amazing! They took wonderful care of me while I was there.
The staff are always kind and helpful. Very clean environment. Parking is great.
Very professional, short wait time. Drs. and staff experts at reassuring you.
I had issues with this clinic before, and was not a fan. It was the closest open clinic to my house the day I needed it, so I thought I’d give it another try. I went in with some heart issues I’d been suffering with for a few days. After being registered I was brought in almost immediately, which I thought was very professional due to the nature of my issue. They ran many tests and helped me figure out what was going on, and were quite quick about it. The nurse I was put with was absolutely lovely! As was everyone else I encountered that day. They all made sure I was comfortable and well informed as to what they were doing. Although I’d had issues before, my experience was a thousand times better this time!
doctor pogg :D
Well organized and systematic! Properly coordinated during the pandemic. Strict screening procedure is completed.
I was born here sixteen years ago. Thanks guys.
I went in because of an ingrown toenail that had unfortunately become infected and made it very difficult to walk. The epsom salt soaks weren't helping and it was time to deal with it. The waiting room in the morning had maybe 5 or so people ahead of me. The staff was very understanding, and friendly. The nurse was so sweet and sympathetic. I waited for a while by myself (maybe 45 minutes) after the doctor had a look and gave me some options. More urgent cases were dealt with first which makes perfect sense. Eventually they did a minor surgery, gave me some care instructions and extra tape and gauze and I hobbled out. I feel very grateful for their help. Sidenote: never cut your toenails with a curve, straight across only!
Hôtel Dieu Hospital has been understatedly fantastic in so many ways!! Every single nurse has been delightfully pleasant & comforting. Empathetic, kind and all around amazing. Nurses I Must Publicly Thank: Angela, Acadia, Lief, Rachel, Kathryn, Jennifer, Candace, Alicia, Jenn-Kelly, Teresita, Zoe, Catherine, Ailene, Kirsten, Ellie, Lindsay, Trisha, 2nd Angela, Suzanne, Jackie, & Christina. Thank you Each and EVERY one of you. Everyone has made some positive impact during my stay here, or touched my innards to kept me safe, and infection free. I feel it necessary to publicly thank you all for your excellent bedside manner, professionalism and team oriented partnership that makes this place an extremely comforting, Save Haven to recuperate in a state of physical distress. A Safe place to Trust & Believe, that if I ever need to come here again, I KNOW FACTUALLY; I’m in excellent care and in the hands of the BEST surgeons in hundreds of miles around. If I’ve forgotten some of your names please forgive me. I’m sure I have. Anyone that has had anything to do with my care in my stupidity: breaking my ankle with my SummerBoard: I need EACH OF YOU to understand that If it wasn’t for everyone involved in my care I may not be as well as I am today. How grand or petite the involvement. I mean this. Thank you. Everyone….. security, cleaning crew…. That rando dude I kept running into well wishing me better.. all of you…. ???? ???????????????? ???????????????????????? The care I’ve received here has far surpassed anything I’ve received in previous medical facilities over the years. Passionate, gentle care goes such a long way. Even sitting down and talking makes a difference. Asking, (ok, but how are you reeeally doing….) makes a world of a difference. This has Been a long recovery, and a boring one (thanks Covid) but hey! Don’t mess yourself up and you won’t end up like me!!!! KGH Loaded the bases for Hôtel Dieu. Then; *BA-DAO* Hit a Grand Slam Home Run* Exceptional would be a horrible understatement to define the type of care of what to expect. Thank you for caring for someone so much, without judgement, I’m not even from around here. You’ve made such an incredible difference in my personal life, I truly cannot thank your WHOLE TEAM enough. And again for when I fell down and hurt myself again. Still cared just as much. Sincerely. Much Love. ~ Jeremy ~
Changing my rating from a 1 star to a 4 star. I still am not impressed with today's visit but we do try to remember that we are all going through tough times and this is no reason to take it out on anyone else. Let's all try to be better each day.
Always friendly.
I went to emergency and Dr. Abdullah Saad A Alshahrani did NOT authorize the prescription I needed for a very serious medical matter! I wasted time waiting with my 5 year old son in the emergency room. My son is also sick but did not require prescription medicine. I understand mistakes happen but I spent the whole night in pain because he failed to sign the prescription?! I went to the pharmacy after leaving the hospital all to be told this "doctor" did not authorize the prescription... I spent the whole night in extreme pain..
I had the most wonderful experience with the staff. Very happy with the care provided by Dr Gonder and the eye clinic in the 6th floor, the two visits where restrained due to the train schedule and his team, amazingly, helped me so I would not loos the train
Volunteer director is great. I don't know what you were saying below but she is super nice...just like all the staff there. Thanks for putting the 'care' in health care, hdh you are great!!
It has always been too notch This hospital now is all day services, for overnight they send patients to KGH.
Not impressed with today's visit. Not the first time either. The people at the reception for blood related visits are terrible. Go somewhere else for bloodwork etc.
I went for my tonsils checkup. My body was totally in pain. I couldn't even sit there and i waited for an hour and half leaning somehow. Finally they called me in and just gave me the medicine for fever which didn't worked for the first time then the nurse came back again and gave me another dose. I was literally in pain and the doctor took like more than 45 mins to arrive and just stayed for 5 mins and went back. it was totally a disaster .
Appointment was at 3pm, and waited for 2 hours just to see a doctor. Receptionist was rude on the phone, and in person. At the time the hospital was by no means busy, it was honestly ridiculous that I had to spend a portion of my day waiting for a procedure that took 20 mins. An x-ray was done and I was told that my arm was still broken. Cast was not changed. Doctor/medical staff nice at least.
Friendly,. helpful staff. Very conscientious and caring. Took good care during a day surgery, every step explained. Would definitely recommend
Triage nurse, registration, Nurse Meredith and Dr. Andrew Hall are exceptional.
Excellent pain clinic Dr Ellis and Dr Haley are great !
Great hospital! Friendly and professional doctors, nurses and other hospital staff. Wish there was an emergency still at Hotel Dieu.
Back in 2016 I fractured a bone in my foot. After waiting 5 hours for an X-ray and an extra two for the urgent care doctors to get back to me, I was told they found a mass in the bone. While my Dad has gone outside to call my mom and update her, the doctor who was working told me, a sixteen year old at the time, that the mass they found in my bone was cancer— turns out it was actually just an abscess bone cyst. All the other times I have gone to Hotel Dieu’s urgent care, they have always either misdiagnosed me, made me wait for 7+ hours to even get to me, or have treated me like garbage. I know urgent care centres are busy, especially since this is one of the only ones in town... but the treatment here is ridiculous. But regarding the paediatric ward and the ophthalmology unit... both are wonderful! Dr Tenhove ophthalmolgy is very thorough and very caring towards his patients!
This hospital misdiagnosed my brother in law's illness, not once, but twice, putting his intense pain and twisted spine as a muscular issues that needed physio. They reached this conclusion without doing any significant tests - an MRI would have shown it. In reality he had a cancerous tumor in his spine. Because of the almost year long delay from the misdiagnosis his cancer has progressed significantly. This decision has made an already bad situation much, much worse, and the ones who .isjudged this should hide their heads in shame.
I would like to thank Dr.(Professor) Rudan, the nursing staff and the rest of the staff who made my surgery day the best, thanks again for being so professional in these trying times.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Great pediatric clinic. Wait times are not too long either.
Was here recently with family. All the staff we encountered from the receptionist to the doctors to the nurses were excellent.
Emergency wait times are crazy took almost 2-3 hours just to see a doctor.
I recently had day surgery at Hotel Dieu and I have never had such a pleasant hospital experience. Dr Gondor and staff are amazing! The day surgery staff were friendly, kind, patient, understanding, accommodating.... and were truly interested in me as a person. . Special thanks to Jennifer, Rob, Diane, Leona, Nancy & Bob! You guys are AWESOME!! Thank You!
After being brushed off at Kgh and given no testing or relief I headed to hotel dieu and had the most empathetic thorough care. Thank you Dr. Tianha Suzanne warkentein and Elizabeth Blackmore. As well as the screening lady and registry lady that got me more comfortable as I waited for the doc. ❤????
Not sure if I'm just lucky, but incredibly fast, helpful and all the while, every other clinic in town was closed.
Took my mother there for a procedure. The staff were excellent. Very professional. Called me to inform me of the outcome of the procedure, how to care for her, and any precautions to take. Well done Hotel Dieu!!
professional and friendly experience put me at ease. I was concerned going in as my procedure was near my eye. I felt at ease and confident as my procedure was in process due to the professionalism from all staff. Thank you.
Covid has ruined attending a hospital for an appointment. Second time in the past month being treated rudly by staff for no reason. They seem to think they just get the blanket excuse . Personally, wish I never had to go there.
Worst emerg I've ever been to. Waited over 4 hours. Extremely unorganized and numerous staff standing around just chatting to each other.
So impressed with the friendly staff and great care from the Hotel Dieu Hospital day surgery. Thank-you so much
Recieved no help
We visited the urgent care center yesterday as I had broken my ankle. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a very short wait time and were in and out in under 3 hours. Thanks to all of the staff! I appreciate the fantastic service.
I just had my first appointment with Dr Kelsey and Neurologist Dr Durafourt in the clinic and I am so happy. Both of them were amazing they really listened and cared about what I had to say. Top notch clinic and the nurses were wonderful as well.
Was in this facility for cataract surgery and was totally impressed with how well I was treated by everyone involved in the surgery from the first person who gets you ready for the surgery to last person to see you out the door ????
Very clean and friendly clinic hospital!
My mother Anne Rayvals worked at the School of Nursing during the sixties and up to 1971 as an Executive Secretary. I recall the few times I went to work with her, and how much I loved the building and being in downtown Kingston. I think it was the Jeanne Mance Residence where she worked as the name sounds familiar, but I'm not 100% sure. I was born in the Hotel Dieu hospital in 1958.
(Translated) It is very beautiful the place. (Original) C est tres beau la place.
Sat here for 4 hours haven't seen a doctor they told me it's the way it is everywhere
Letting non pediatric parents patients into the pediatric area and then seeing them before children seems like a thing no place would do... Not Hotel Dieu... Currently been waitinf over an hour and a half for an appt... Yep thats right... A booked appt...
Recently I required day surgery , my experience was nothing short of perfect in a tough situation. From the front door up to the 2nd floor and back I could not have been treated in a more respectful and caring way. I admire every staff and volunteer at this hospital, everyone was willing to go the extra step although they themselves were juggling many responsibilities. The only thing that was required of me was patience and when you are truly in need it is not a tough task. Thank you
50 minute wait to even see the triage nurse.
Excellent care and much faster than KGH Emergency for non-emergency care.
Terrible experience I am type 1 diabetic was having foot issue I need a referral to a foot clinic and the dr refused to give me a referral Noticed staff socializing at nurses station than treating patients I honestly think that all dr are students I would have given them negative stars but this site does not allow that Just to let everyone know I went to napanee emergency They sent me for an MRI found the problem I have MS Shows how tunnel vision the doctor at HDH are
I brought my one year old to the Children's Outpatient Center and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not from Kingston and found that it was easy to find. Parking is across the street. The staff were wonderful and we were taken care of in a very reasonable amount of time. They even have a pharmacy within the hospital.
Took my one and a half year old daughter to the children's section here. Everything seemed to go pretty well until I took her perscription to the pharmacist and they told me that this dosage that the document subscribed would have killed her for her age and weight. Not impressed at all. Extremely thankful for the pharmacist at shoppers who knew what they were doing.
I was at the Urgent Care Yesterday. Even if I had not a big problem finally, they were wonderful. Very human and professional. Nurses and Doc. make a very good job. I didn't wait a long time, even if I was prepared to. 10/10. Thank you all.
Great
No wonder we have a mental health crisis in Ontario my wife and I were going through ivf process and was getting difficult we were referred to a psychologist at hotel due in March. Covid hit we understood would be a little longer. Now Oct have yet to speak with anyone because of cancelled appointments by the doctor because something came up. Then the staff tried to blame us for the cancelations. Little did they know we kept notes of everything discussed on date and times. Now we have to be referred to someone else probably not in the the area because of the disgusting treatment we have received from your staff and doctors.
I cannot believe hotel dues child mental health it is absolutely ridiculous They no answers for anything your child’s going through the only wanna pay push medication and then they can’t even fill prescriptions properly I have found more help on my own then begging them to help me it is absolutely disgusting that they can call themselves doctors Our children should come first and I feel the only thing that comes first with them is the pharmaceutical companies as that’s all they want to push
Way to go in Urgent Care today Amanda Collier MD!!! ???? Gave me more time than the last few Ontario physicians I've seen combined! It only adds up to a few more minutes, but makes a huge difference. Hope the others are paying attention to her, a tiny bit more time to listen and communicate with patients is exponential in its' benefits to our healthcare standards. ⚕️
Make sure you have at least 4 hrs to be seen. Staff just stands there joking around the desk while patients sit and suffer. If this was a private office all of these people would be looking for new jobs. Most patients are junkies. Go anywhere else you can.
Hotel Dieu is a good hospital.
I went for my bi-yearly mammogram today. I'm a person with fairly high anxiety. I was greated by Tanya Welsh and away we went into the screening room. Tanya had me at ease from the moment I stepped in the room. What a great sense of humor she has! Instead of feeling like I was having a rather nasty procedure done I felt like I was with an old friend. She put me at such ease and we even had a few giggles. That's the exact person you need running those departments. I couldn't thank her enough for making my experience actually enjoyable! Imagine...a mammogram that was enjoyable. Well it was. Tanya is a giant asset to Hotel Dieu. I hope she is as appreciated by managent as much as she is to her patients. Thank you Tanya Welsh for making me so comfortable in such an awkward position. You're the best!
The staff was fast and attentive. I really appreciate their help.
I visited the clinic recently and could not believe my experience. I came in with a persistent sore throat much like others I had experienced before. I was expecting them to run a few tests just to rule out any issues. What I was not expecting was to wait 3 hours in the waiting room but as well as 2 hours in a separate room. The doctor then proceeded to tell me I was fine and could go home without running a single test. A week later still sick I went to another doctor and was diagnosed with strep throat. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Today my almost 1 year old had to have a ultrasound which I was certainly not looking forward to being as I found the last 2 to be rather traumatic for me personally. The young lady who did the ultrasound today was fantastic. So easy going and willing to work with whatever it takes to get it done be it me trying to put a show on my phone or stand him up for a moment, she was making sounds at him to distract him and taking to him, didn't get frustrated the slightest bit, worked with his moving around so well. I wish I got her name, I'd like to thank her for making it go as smooth as possible.
One of the best hospitals in Ontario. Great doctors and excellent staff.
Returned a call to schedule an appointment for an ultrasound and the number they gave didn't work. Called the operator and was patched through. Told whomever pickup that i was returning someones call and was told to hold without further info. Held for 30mins until someone pickedup again only to be asked who I was holding for. Told this person my same story and was told to hold again. Finally got to someone who could book my appointment only that it would be 2 weeks away. At this point it had already been a week since my physician had put in the request for the ultrasound so its going to be a total of three weeks since my injury. Can they even make a proper diagnosis after 3 weeks?
Went in for an xray of my spine. In and out within 30 minutes. Great service
Johnson eye clinic doctors, students and all staff are excellent. Great at screening everyone and very fast
pleased with all aspects of my visit from the entry screening to the floor nurses and doctor and his student . felt very positive leaving
My son is dead. The psychiatrists here are an absolute waste of time. They scheduled to see my son once a month!! Turn to the private sector for help. I'm truly wishing I did
All was great no problems
I was diagnosed with Tinea / Fungal Infection
Feel sorry for the employees, like working in a maze when you enter.
Staff are excellent. A very clean environment. I've been dealing with eye clinic over a year. Dr Gonder and his team make every visit pleasant and enjoyable. They are courteous and supportive. The hospital has great parking in the garage or on the street. There is an excellent cafe which will surprise you. This is a well run hospital.
Brock 1 is well organized. The cafeteria food alone is worth going for a visit.
Long wait times.
Very good surgeons and nurses
I can confirm hospital has canceled my child's appointments twice last year and when you call them to ask for a new one the new receptionist will treat it as if you canceled when it was the doctor. I can't make a new review three months later but the receptionist is now making up appointments that do not exist even when you tell them you have already received an appointment letter in the mail for a whole different month
Because I had a cough in which I was wearing a mask me along with two other people had to sit on steel chairs in an extremely cold hallway after almost 3 hours I finally went in and asked a nurse if someone knew we were there. She was extremely rude and said of course we know your there and then within 20 minutes we were all brought into rooms. My understanding is that this is an urgent care clinic and it’s a first come first serve but obviously that is not the case as I sat in the hallway for 3 hours and than the room for another two all the people that came in after me have since been seen and got to go home. This was the worst service I’ve ever had by health care professionals.
I had a specialist appointment for diabetes this week that I was on a waiting list for 6 months for. When I got there, I was put into a room for an hour before anyone came in to see me, and even then it was only a student doctor. He asked me if I was married, which looking back I don't see how that was relevant whatsoever. I was there for a total of 3 hours, only seeing the actual specialist for about 10 minutes and she rushed right through it. Don't book patients for a time if you're already booked up. I lost 3 hours of wages from work to go to this thing, and ultimately walked away feeling like my issues didn't matter and weren't given the time with the specialist that was needed. When I told the doctor how much of a pain it was to arrange transportation to go down there where there's no parking and stupid one way streets, she looked at me like I had three heads. I will say that the staff was all very friendly, however I totally wasted my time.
Why schedule an appointment when the doctor is 2 hours late?
I had day surgery yesterday and I cannot thank the nurses in recovery enough. I was struggling a bit to say the least and they went above and beyond to reassure me and take care of me. I am so grateful to all of them and Dr. Kratky and his surgical staff for their excellent care. Thank you!!
Was at the Dieu yesterday for x ray,was completed in less than an hour and the staff upon entry and the x Ray staff were so friendly and helpful .I hope the top brass have the opportunity to read this and appreciate the great work their staff do.
