REVIEWS OF Rainy Lake Medical Center & Rural Health Clinic IN Fort Frances

I was experiencing extreme pain in my lower back and abdomen. I had no known health issues. I went to emergency care at Rainy Lake medical center and expressed that I was in extreme pain and it was unbearable. I was given nothing for the pain and instead was asked an unreasonable amount of questions. I pleaded with the nurse to help me but instead she threatened to call the police on me. I was given IV fluids and it was determined that I passed a kidney stone. I was then given an Nsaid pain reliever via IV after I had said that I was no longer in pain. (The stone had passed).

I am so tired of having to re-post my complaints against this hospital! They deleted my review 3 TIMES!!! Let’s see how long they wait to delete this one. Don’t go to this hospital either as a patient or a new staff member. You won’t win either way. They are rude to patients and downright toxic to outsiders.

This clinic is the most mismanaged facility I have ever had to deal with. No such thing as call backs with them. Everytime I've called them concerning my 92 year old mom with dementia, they don't know who I'm talking about because their record keeping is so disordered. They can't figure out information my family and I have repeatedly given them. They were supposed to make home visit to assess my mom's needs and never did it. We finally had county health step in and do it. It seems these folks only care for paperwork and screen time, not their patients or their caregivers. The only bright spot was Dr. Moyer, but he too was baffled by how the staff couldn't do their jobs.

The most horrible And conniving company to work for. Higher ups don’t care about the employees or what they get paid. They make promises then screw you in the end if you leave so you can better yourself. The pay is horrible and you can’t even afford health insurance from this company. Pretty sad when you have to get state insurance because you don’t make enough to even live. They also like to work you like a dog and expect one person to do three peoples job while paying the lowest wage they can. Wouldn’t recommend working here you’d be better off anywhere else and would make more. They want to be employer of choice but can’t even get their priorities straight and just like to make you feel like you don’t matter. Stay away and do not apply at this job if you value your sanity.

Rainy Lake Medical Center is a crucial part of the Borderland community. We are so lucky to have quality healthcare close to home. I highly recommend RLMC.

Our first visit was amazing! We went in for a 3 year old well check up. And there was no crying or fighting with my 3yr old. The nurse and doctor was sooo good with her and had patients with her! So glad we switched!

The ER is more of an urgent care. The staff are pleasant but starting IVs and other procedures are a challenge for them. It took 3 people at least 6 attempts. It has never taken anyone else more than twice. A transport team coached a doctor who struggled to insert a chest tube. My bill was not itemized the same the one sent to my insurance company and it was $2000 more than the one sent to them. There is room for improvement.

I have lived in this town almost 29 years, have been diabetic for 20 of them, and have had well over 150 visits at this hospital/clinics in that time and overall it absolutely blows my mind that these "facilities" are even open for the public. I have had multiple doctors treat me in the past for infected abscesses in my mouth and while my pain is 11 out of 10, I have medical documentation proving im allergic to acetaminophen (Tylenol, Ibuprofen) they still make you and everyone feel like your there seeking drugs when the truth is you the patient hasn't slept in days, has been in pain, can't eat, but yeah doc ill go home and put ice on it. Oh here's another one, I have been trying to get my diabetes medications refilled for the past month and my doctor still hasn't refilled my diabetic medications, even after the pharmacy has "Sent for Refills" at least 10 times in that month and my doctor decides to ignore because why would I want to take my medicine in comfort but instead im having to reuse my old syringes which are leaving marks all around my body and it is terrifying not knowing if ill have insulin to take tomorrow because my and all of these doctors don't give a damage. This is one of a million horror stories I have of this ridiculous "hospital." The only good part of these facilities is the nursing staff and Dr.Malik. He does really try to help and understand but most of them are there for a paycheck and a paycheck ONLY!

During a visit with my physician ( of about 15 years)we discuss, that we needed to set up a female baseline to use as a comparisons as I age. Per his advice I made a mammogram appointment, and a Pap smear appointment. The billing has been a complete mess and even though this was a preventative procedure it appears it’s going to cost me about $1500 with great insurance. The original cost was about $2200. 00 Because United healthcare is not receiving the records they need from the billing department at the clinic UHC is declining payments . The doctors do a great job and it’s unfortunate that my husband and I will most likely have to switch to Essentia clinic, but I refuse to pay these prices. Claims needed to be coded as preventative and I believe that starts at the level of the doctor. I would not recommend this clinic at this time.

As a minority I felt out of place, the lack of care was unsettling that’s probably why they misdiagnosed me and left me with a fat check. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone especially minorities, they don’t seem to care for anyone that doesn’t look like them.

I have received care at RLMC along with both of my children and have had exceptional experiences. Every staff member from the registrars to the nurses to the providers make sure they address all your needs with care and compassion. When my daughter began having chronic ear infections Nancy Burmeister made sure to help me get it addressed with a specialist in a timely manner and Amber Biondich and Rio Silvernail helped me with a broken toe and went above and beyond to manage my care.

NOT AN URGENT CARE They falsely advertise themselves as an urgent care to lure people in. Provide no information on price of care before hand! Falsely claimed you can apply for financial assistance! And then charge exorbitant emergency room prices! They are deliberately taking advantage of people in need. They should be ashamed of themselves as an organization and as individuals abetting in this crime. I do not know how the employees at RLMC can sleep at night knowing they are taking advantage of people by misleading them to think they are walking into an urgent care. If you have an infection or anything you would typically go to an urgent care for keep driving until you find a real place to seek medical attention.

Reo Silvernail denied me medical treatment. I ended up moving out of state for medical treatment and selling my house, in the Falls. She gave ne 21 cortisone shots, on my back, in one office visit. My husband, Dave,, had to remove 21 bandaids from my back.I was sick and in bed for one month, felt like I was going to die. The Falls is my home town - people run from this place!!!

Awful place, only go when I absolutely have to. Even then I have been lied to by nursing staff, information not given to pertaining to situation but weekend warrior opinions without fact base taken as gospel . Also have waited at least an hour with no contact waiting in ER/Urgent care the last time wasn't even given call light. And treatment given caused more irritation and pain post surgery.

Caitlin Marshwous

We have our whole family practice here, my fiance loved his orthopedic doctor Rio Silvernail, my GYN Vergsted is fantastic and our daughter's pediatrician Brad Reiner's is amazing.

I injured my back as an employee to RLMC, the HR team and my boss took care of everything for me. I was stressed out because I’ve heard of other businesses giving their employees such a hard time. I feel extremely lucky that I work at a place that cares about their employees…When I went to my follow up appointment I had Dr. Rio, she was absolutely amazing!!!…I also received “get well cards” and phone calls from other employees. My boss called to check in on me everyday. It feels more like a family, rather than a job.
