4 hours in the ER and still haven't been seen..???? LAST TIME EVER
It’s an unbelievable facility with even more unbelievable staff. I’m so thankful that this collection of people exists.
worst hospital ever imagined
Had to have epilepsy/seizure monitoring due a few times, all at this new location. Wonderful facility, outstanding staff who are all caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. With regards to concern questions and and issues that a PT may have about their stay, the staff members, from all different departments, are fantastic. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility, the staff and treatment.
I’ve never had a bad experience at this hospital. This is my first time at the new place. Very clean, and wait time is very short.
Very helpful and thank full really friendly staffs in ICU floor and 11th floor thank you for taking care of daughter
Excellent care all around. Recently my daughter had same day surgery. From the security guard to the secretaries, nurses and doctors, everyone was pleasant and did a great job making us comfortable. Would highly recommend care at this facility!
Shockingly terrible despite the beautiful new building. My 3 year old went to the ER with an object stuck in his ear and they couldn't get it out with a saline flush. He was in pain. The ENT attending refused to come in and see my son because quote "it wasn't life and death." They advised us to wait until the weekday to see another ENT practice and that ENT can get it out. Then they sent us home and told us to give him Tylenol. I was shocked and appalled. I'm placing a formal complaint with the hospital. I can believe that was a children's hospital ER. I think we would've been better off at ECMC.
The doctors and nurses are so nice and attentive great bed side manners
My parents and I came in at around 5 in the morning to the E.R. for a pain-full issue that I was having. The reception wasn't perfect, but once we got into my room and the nurses started coming in, they were excellent. My surgeon, Dr. Wilieo (idk how its spelled) was really funny and eased my worries. When I woke up in recovery, My nurses name was Sally. She was awesome!!! She answered all of my questions, got me everything I needed and made sure I got to our car ok. Only took 8 hours for the whole process.
Very clean. Staff is very nice. Can be a little crazy but it is expected when they specialize in child medical care. But expect staff to be kind and work to do there best with a child being upset.
Waited for 5 hours in a cramped room with urine on the floors for nothing
Have had three kids here, staff is amazing, kind, and attentive. Facility is exceptionally clean.
I have kind of a mixed review for this one.. But including all things into consideration.. Here's our story... We had a high risk pregnancy that required weekly visits to their obgyn. The staff although friendly and for the most part.. very professional and courteous, did not communicate amongst each other satisfactorily enough for me. (There were times that they didn't even know we were supposed to be there). I even had a resident physician to suggest give my lady penicillin (which she's allergic to, and has made well aware) for group b strep.. She was supposed to have a cesarian section, because apparently it would be better for the baby if everyone in the team was there. But a week later changed their minds.. only to end up doing an emergency c section anyways. Which I have my doubts was an actual emergency.. but fortunately operation and delivery went smoothly. I was very happy with the delivery team and the nicu team, as well as sone very sweet and compassionate nurses. . Now The baby needed surgery immediately within a day afterwards to repair a rare birth defect . Which we knew about.. And we were assured that we were in the best place possible for this kind of procedure. However, the dr that we were told was to perform the operation did not, but acted as a bystander. Which made us upset because we had grown to trust the competency and expertise of the particular dr.. The operation went well, but within a few days our son needed additional surgery because his stomach is upside down. Is someone at fault? that i don't know, but i can't help but feel anxious when were lead to believe things were going great. Listen, we all know that some things in life are beyond our control, and believe it or not they do just happen, whether you like it or not.. But when you're told one thing and then something changes, it's not only frustrating..but terrifying.. especially involving your children. I even feel like he's even being slightly neglected by some nurses in the nicu. Which in my humble opinion, is the LAST place you should have to worry about your kids. Maybe if they spent more time watching my son instead of being on their phones i wouldn't be so upset. But a few times I've walked in and he was covered in vomit. And one nurse changed shifts without giving him any pain medication.. Watching a monitor is great and all, but there's no substitute for actually going in the room with these babies and being attentive. I know how much they get paid and really I have no choice but to question the quality of care here. Not to mention that the place is quite filthy most of the time. It rarely gets cleaned, even during a global pandemic.. They were pretty adamant on putting a gi tube in his stomach for feeding.. We suggested that maybe instead we should try a different formula and give him so medication for acid reflux.. Guess what? It worked and the poor kid didnt need another surgery.. Finally our son gets discharged from the nicu and eventually the hospital. On the discharge sheet it seems like he has quite a few more problems than we were even aware of. Don't get me wrong... There's some state of the art, brand new equipment.. and some VERY professional and compassionate individuals that work here. It can't be an easy job, but that's also what you sign up for.. Some of the Dr.s, nurses, surgeons, staff members, are all exceptional and trustworthy. But if I knew back then what I know now, I'd reconsider the hospital. i feel there's better available for serious conditions... I'd say you take these reviews into account and weigh the best options for your women and children. Good luck.
We came to the ER at about 3pm because nothing was working and our daughter temp was rising. When we got here her temp was at 101 but it was going up again my wife went to the machine and checked it again and it.spiked to like 103.9 anf still going up.. This is the first "Children's Hospital " ER that I have been in where a child can have a 103 fever and still rising and they keep u in the waiting room, and other people that came in after are being seen first... it is now going on 5:30 and we just get " we will be with you shortly" some of the staff is amazing but still babies and 3yr Olds with 103-104 temp still asked to.just sit and wait lol dang ...
My son got his surgery done here yesterday morning and everyone was amazing. They made me feel so comfortable when I was so worried. Everyone was so friendly and nice. His surgery was done by Dr. Kreaton (dont think i spelled his name right but thats how its pronounced) and he was amazing. This is my new favorite hospital. Ive had garbage experiences at most other ones in Buffalo. I would highly recommend taking your babies here!
These people are so neglectful that my autistic cousin went in today he was in pain, and they just put him in a room full of boxes where there isn't medical supplies. The closet they put him in was for supplies and forgot all about him. After an hour we left. He still in pain but i would be talking to channel 2-4 and 7 about how they cant treat people like this. Just because he's autistic and he's very hyper. He isn't harm to no one. Happy B-Day to him.
Today I had very bad stomachache and I went there and signed in and waited for almost 30 minutes till the nurse come and took me in to check my blood pressure and I was told to wait and the doctor will be with me shortly so I waited 2 hours till a nurse showed up and asked me what brought me to the hospital and then told me that I should go to Buffalo General hospital. My point is if I was supposed to go to Buffalo general then why they wasted my time and made me wait for something which they could tell me at beginning. The nurse name who made me waiting for this long to tell me this nonsense was CHADHA KUNAL. Terrible person on the register desk a very rude lady.
The 3 floor. Labor and delivery .They have no sympathy. So, sorry for meeting with them. The experience seniors are bossy.
Fantastic children’s hospital.
I have been waiting 2 hours and still have not been addressed. All of the people who came before me have been taken care of and 5 people after me. The desk clerk is no help and said when the nurse opens the door to ask her. This is the most disrespectful inattentive non-caring place I have ever seen. I say go anywhere else instead.
Minor visit to the ER and parking was easy, right behind the hospital. Yes there is still construction but that's to be expected. The ramp has a bridge that connects to the second floor. Very quick and excellent service. EKG, X-rays, seen by 3 people, and released within 50 minutes. Technology and medical care at it's finest if you ask me.
Previously I have been a huge supporter of the hospital. I have donated a ton of money and even have volunteered. Tonight I was appalled at multiple issues. We brought our son in after having trouble breathing and puking for hours. Two hours before we arrived we gave him Tylenol. When we arrived at 11:15pm he was struggling to breathe but had no fever. He immediately started puking to the point they had to clean floor and change his clothes. At 11:30pm he was given a zofrain but continued to puke. We are now still sitting in the waiting room time is 3am. My son is dizzy unable to breathe correctly and still puking. I asked for some more medicine or something to help him from puking we were told we would receive nothing until we are seen. My son is obviously the child in the most need and we have been ignored and told the wait will be much longer. They open the door and you can see the back not every room is filled and no one seems to have a sense of urgency. We are so disappointed but currently have no other options. It’s this is every parents nightmare. You just want to be seen and you can’t even get to the back. There’s no where else to go in the city. Please these concerns need to be addressed. We are about to jump in the car and try to make it to Rochester where the wait is less then an hour.
Everyone always seems to complain when they have an experience in a hospital and arnt treated not only the way they want to be treated despite medical reasons, they want to be treated like customers that are "always right" . People please remember for every bad review there is ten great experiences in this place. I dont work here but my twin boys were born here, one has had emergency surgery here and they saved his life and the old childrens hospital saved my younger brothers life. This place is a god send to buffalo and we should be grateful. Hospitals are run by very stressed, highly intelligent (typically), hardworking people that dedicate what they do to treat our children in this area. A few of the reviews I've read are unfortunate but most of the negative ones sound like they got served a bad plate at a restaurant. It's not a restaurant. It's a hospital and I'm grateful for this one and always will be.
They are dedicated to taking care of the community where our families are. They do AMAZING work
The best place
My son spent time in the EMU and throughout the entire stay we had excellent care. From the awesome nurses, to dietary, and housekeeping, everyone helped make our stay as pleasant as it could be while living in a hospital. His doctor and team listened to us and kept us informed daily, and showed a level of interest and care that impressed me. I'm thankful that my son is receiving treatment here!
This place is awful the e.r is so filthy dirty. The people who go to the e.r take there very sick children and sit down by tim Horton's so you cant sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with out all the cold and flu virus being spread around. And no wonder why the flu virus is so bad. There is trash laying all over the floor tim Horton's cups just left on water fountains. Tables and chairs have food and stuff on them and that on more then 1 floor. You go to wash you hands in the sink on the nicu and its dirty water and soap all over. House keeping only cleans certain things and the main places. The family room.on the 4th floor had food trays just left in there and not properly taken care of. The frig smells.
The hospital itself is very nice with amenities like Tim Horton's. Just do NOT use the valet. The website says they charge $5 but they charged us $7. Potentially some theft with today. We had to walk in the hospital to find 2 valets sitting down in their office to even take our car. Then it took over 20 minutes for our car to arrive back for departure. We could have parked relatively close, for cheaper, and quicker self-service. Awful experience.
9 hours later and I’m still sitting in this room with my child as I write this. The lack of communication and understanding of what is going on is astounding. We have had 6 or 7 different nurses and doctors come in to see my child. Clearly none of them had talked to each other. No one had a clue as to what the hell we were even in for. There is a clear absence of any type of leadership
Friendly staff and beautiful building
Terribly unorganized entrances. No parking anywhere near hospital. Staff in radiology department is rude and unorganized. They do not give you proper information on what is expected before child’s appointment. The whole 2 hour experience there was horrible.
NICU nightmare. We could have sued over our experience at Oishei, but we decided not to. Dr. Chandra treated our newborn without our consent. Multiple patients' rights, parents' rights, and the hospital's own code of conduct were violated. There is clear evidence in our file of them trying to cover their tracks. More than a year later, and we are still traumatized by the experience. Try to stay away from this place.
My son was born at 25w and 5d, we were 2 hours away from this hospital. They met us at our hospital in almost an hour, they delivered my son and then took him and mom to oishei. He stayed 7 months. In this time, I had to deal with the NICU, PICU, ER and labor and delivery staff. Everyone is always such a delight, they keep you informed, will help you with all you need and provide the best care in the state, hands down. I could never thank the staff enough.
Due to my daughter being sick and vomiting I decided to take her to the hospital, and it wasn’t a very welcoming environment. Being that it was my first time coming to the new location I didn’t know where to go and the staff was extremely disrespectful because I asked them questions on where to go and what to do. One of the staff members literally looked at my daughters mother and rolled her eyes and ignored her. That’s just ridiculous. Like are we an annoyance because we wanted to bring our child here to get checked?
It's a hospital. They do what they need to do to help you. It's pretty cut and dry. The doctor's and staff are very nice. Long wait times.. predictable. Tim Hortons in the lobby... Predictable.
Had a late night scare with a sick 2 year old. Had to be in for a few days to recover. The nurses were great. And the rooms were nice, and new.
Hospital is extremely different since all the changes they made and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful !
I realize that there is much room for fine-tuning, however, working for a professional agency that sends disabled sick children there we are in need of a roster with a list of new phone and fax numbers from all the Depts. Lets make it a well greased machine for all WESTERN NEW YORKERS, who use this beautiful, new facility
I have had nothing with issues w/Children's from a Dr giving my dgt a migraine medicine that had a Sulfa component to it when it's been a clear allergy since she wz 2 yrs old. Diagnosed her cyclic vomiting syndrome, lactose intolerance & gluten allergy as a menal illness bc they said she didn't want to go to school, refused to do an EGD & Colonoscopy mind u my dgt graduated w/An Advanced Regents Diploma w/Honors, 5th overall in her graduating class. I had to find a specialist that would listen to us my dgt was down to 88 pounds before we got answers all the vomiting caused my dgt to hav esphagial ulcers & weakened her cardiac spinctor causing GERD. I filed a complaint against Children's w/NYS office of the professions, their response wz in favor of Children's stating that w/ her age & symptoms they followed a reasonable course. My dgt is now pregnant, she has been having a very hard time especially since she wz in a MVA ---we went to their ER after her accident totally blew her off she had a concussion, whiplash & a low back injury told her it wz normal for her to b sore; (found out about the concussion after being diagnosed w/post-concussion syndrome) they didn't catch the concussion, she is in Vestibular Therapy because of dizziness & depth perception issues--therapy makes her sick, has an issue w/ her bladder & the nerve impulses to her lower extremities r impaired causing muscle weakness. I would rather take my chances w/a home birth w/ how negligent they r. It's too bad Children's is the only hospital in the Buffalo area for children .
I hate this hospital. My son went in for mediport came with staph infection. Back in now with liver and kidney failure all from doctor would not listen . Misdiagnosed my son.
Took my son to this emergency room last night and sat for about 2.5 hours. He needed X-rays for his elbow. One particular employee asked me while filling out paper work with a clipbroad for the insurance information if I was his "foster mother", she seriously said that. I said "I'm his BIOLOGICAL mother!" Her "job" is right down responses not try to guess relationship status. Furthermore why does she have a clipbroad instead of a laptop? As much money as this place makes that's the BEST they can do for this employee? Last but not least my son kept saying how much pain he was in and NEVER RECIEVED PAIN RELIEF EVEN THOUGH THE DOCTOR KEPT SAYING HE WOULD GET IT FOR HIM. This place is a joke.
I'm so in between a positive and a negative review. Basically.. I had ZERO choice but move my care to this hospital as I carried a baby with a birth defect that required surgery upon delivery. Which meant I would be at the maternal fetal medicine dept prior to delivering. That is my negative review. I never felt welcomed by the reception staff and scheduling was a joke. I ALWAYS ALWAYS waited anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours just to be seen for my bi-weekly and eventually WEEKLY ultrasounds (for 7 weeks!) Because of my case I had very specific, tailored ultrasounds which were lengthy themselves so the added wait time to be seen was terrible. The nurses always tried their best, and it's a relief they were there. The ultrasound technicians were brilliant. . I thought about switching to a hospital in Rochester because it got so frustrating, but ultimately knew I was too vested to change so late in my pregnancy. I went into labor in the middle of the night, with covid we knew going in we would be temped and questioned but they were so efficient due to my condition. When we got to the desk to check in NO ONE was around. Once we got someone though... The review brightens quite a bit. The labor and delivery team was incredible (minus the doctor who delivered my son .. he was a know it all.. I could have delivered without him there.. no joke) but the nurses, and staff in the delivery room, to the recovery room, were just all so amazing and made the journey worth it. I honestly forgot all about my frustrating visits with MFM after meeting all of the other people who took such great care of me. The NICU is so great. There were two times where he was given morphine and we were not informed of it. I was about to lose it on a nurse that had horrible bed side manner and told me that he was upset so they administered it. It was very unacceptable but that aside I don't have anything bad to say. He was only in for ten days because he's a trooper and wanted out as badly we we wanted him home. Anyway... As it would turn out, he needs a lot of follow up care which of course is at children's, so now instead of waiting as a pregnant mother of two, with a job... I now get to wait in their ultrasound department, urology dept and others for an hour before being seen. I would like to note I am also a client service rep, I know how challenging it can be to deal with the public. However that being said, it's a hard job and not everyone is cut out for it... If you don't like it, seriously find something independent. Because sometimes, people are dealing with the worst situations and not being greeted in a friendly manner or simply being told to have a great day... Sucks.
Had to bring our little one (only 13 weeks old) to children's per our pediatrician to check for something that could've potentially been a medical emergency if diagnosed after an ultrasound. Our pediatrician's office said they would contact the hospital in advance to let them know we were on our way and for what reason (hopefully to expedite our visit). Parking for the ER was awful first and foremost. The Check in was easy and everyone was fairly friendly, especially the security guard Matt. We were issued the standard identification hospital bracelet for our LO and told to sit and wait to be called. We waited about 35-45 mins to be called in JUST to take my child's vitals and asked a bunch of questions as to why we were there. I asked if they received notice from our doctor and she said yes but proceeded with the numerous questions. We were told they had a room for us but were waiting on housekeeping to finish cleaning it, they told us to go back to the waiting room and that we would be called back, that it shouldn't be too long for our room. IT TOOK FOREVER, over 1-1/2 hours LATER. We got called back to our room and all the medical staff we encountered was really super nice, yet professional. One complaint is that with every new medical personnel that visited us, they all asked us the same 50 questions, over and over. I wish more communication between the doctors/ nurses/ residents occurred to avoid us having to answer the same questions which felt like 100x during an already very stressful situation. Then Again, we were told we had to wait for the ultrasound, which was another hour+ wait. By the time we were all done and told our LO was ok (great news), it was already 5 hours later from the time we pulled into the ER. Biggest complaint and disappointment was the constant waiting for something as simple as an ultrasound that only took 5 minutes to do. To sum it up, bad parking, good medical staff but they lack communication, clean hospital, the tim hortons is the worst ive ever encountered, nice people all and all but thur biggest problem is the constant waiting and waiting, that seriously needs to improve for an emergency room visit.
My experience with the hospital is great so 5 stars for that but my poor experience is with the valet parking they don't know how to treat people, no customer service they don't greet you they are really rude.
I have taken my son to this new hospital a handful of times. From valet parking to the security guards to the reception desk in neurosurgery to the dr himself to the whole radiology team - everyone was so welcoming. Bringing your kid to a hospital for any reason is stressful - and to have smiling faces at every turn makes it a much more pleasant experience. The actual hospital is beautiful and well designed and very high tech! My drawback is - parking! Parking is a slight nightmare the first time you go there - I strongly recommend valet parking to ease the stress as they have lots of construction going on and dead ends.
Absolutely the WORST place to have a baby. Terrible doctors, terrible nurses, terrible facility. Do not go here, you will absolutely regret it. The lack of professionalism is absolutely criminal.
Had to say was really good to go to a hospital where everyone cared my experience was wonderful they did everything for my baby girl to make it comfortable for her till she was better They had fun things for kids to do to which was really nice and thanks to the group family help families my daughter enjoyed the bag she was given that had things in it for her and was another group not sure of the name but came in and gave my daughter activities to do I appreciate all that they do this hospital My first experience was great
Was admitted to the ER for a severe allergic reaction in the middle of the night. The staff was so helpful and listened to my concerns thoughtfully. I was especially happy with the care from the Pediatric Resident and my RN.
We have had nothing but positive experiences at Oishei Children's Hospital. We've been seen by maternal & fetal medicine for ultrasounds, Dr. Awner for ophthalmology, Dr. Perry from the craniofacial team and various other providers for surgery and ER visits. We couldn't be happier with the care we have received. Such a wonderful, caring, and professional group of people.
They took care of me when I was on the neurology monitoring floor. The nursing staff is excellent
Absolutely terrible hospital. My friend went there on 3 separate occasions and each one was significantly worse than the prior. To start, the nurses in the Emergency department are completely rude and unprofessional. They poked my friend over 16 times! They had her waiting over an hour to receive pain reducing medication, told her that she did not know anything about her illness even though she has had it for all 19 years of her life, AND even found themselves giving her a new type of medicine without her permission or notifying her. Nurses and Doctors alike yelled at us when we attempted to correct them and one nurse, Abby, on the 12th floor of the hospital found herself taunting my friend while she was in pain. They were very dismissive and even took my friend off of the fluids she was getting and told her that her pain levels should be more than manageable after only one bag of IV fluids. This hospital is rude, dirty (the rooms in which my friend stayed in had dirty sheets, curtains and pillows in which nobody changed), unprofessional and overall a bad place for one to go if they are looking to be adequately taken care of. If i could give a zero out of 10, i would.
Had my first baby here at Children's. We had such a wonderful experience, the doctors and nurses are very helpful and experienced, you can tell they love what they do. We also love the labor and delivery rooms set up. The staff really helped put my husband and I at ease since this is our first child. We are so grateful!
It is Feb 3, 2019 at 6:00 am and I am sitting out in the waiting room of labor and delivery on the 3rd floor. The lady that’s doing registration at this time has a bad attitude as if she doesn’t want to be here, everything that came out of her mouth sounded snobby and ghetto. As they finished up registration she escorted my brother and sister-n-law to the back my sister and I stood up and this lady going to say “ oh no that’s not going to happen” instead of politely saying I’m sorry only one of you could come back at this time. I get it you may be tired or whatever the case might be but you still treat and talk to people with respect no matter how bad your day is going. If you can’t greet people politely at a wonderful place of business, this is not the job for you!
This place is full of people that don't want to be doing there job.. they don't f care at all about are kids..2:58 am from 11pm haven't seen a doctor.
Everything from check in to nurses and doctors were friendly and professional. The insurance lady was not friendly but was professional.
Took my 3 yr old a few weeks ago to this hospital and had to BEG them to X-Ray my child. Turned out to have pneumonia - they prescribed antibiotics. Took her back last week because she was still not herself, had a high fever and she had crippling pain in her lower right abdomen, at her doctor's request. They didn't take a single image, and sent her home with nasal spray and Tylenol! Like, wow! Now she's sick STILL and sleep on Christmas day! I'm highly upset! I can't believe they really did absolutely NOTHING!
Went to the ER because my son slipped and fell on a rock. His wrist was bothering him. The nurse practitioner was very sweet. But no one wanted my son to be exposed to radiation since he could move his fingers. I explained he broke his femur last year and barely cried as to why I was worried since he was babying it so much. Went to his well visit 3 days later and they ordered x rays. Sure enough he has a break. Just disappointed I drove all the way to the ER for nothing.
Quick to call CPS on u!
This hospital is truly outstanding. Took great care of our boy for his surgery. All staff, surgeon's, drs and nurses have been wonderful! Also extremely clean rooms! Great job everywhere! Couldn't be more pleased and impressed!
If I could give it less I would. My son has CP so we've been a part of ChildrwChi for 17+ years. This new hospital if nothing but new brick and mortar. If you want to know the truth the care is substandard. The old hospital was much better . They didn't change there garbage in my son's room in the ICU for over three days she he had severe diarrhea so you can imagine how bad it was .I finally had to change it myself and put it in the hall. I wanted to wash my son and I couldn't even get a towel for days..... The new ICU design is supposed to be better...UGH. NOT! Very sad. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!! GOD HELP US IT'S OUR ONLY OPTION due to being a single mother and unable to leave town bc of my other child's needs and my son's inability to travel .
My daughter recently started having grand mal seizures. She also has RAD, with autistic tendencies. We have been to children’s twice this year, once in the ER and once for a 5 night stay in the epilepsy monitoring unit. The staff we interacted with at Oshei were amazing. They were kind, patient, and caring…doctors, nurses, cleaning, dietary, and volunteers. Everyone did what they could to make our experience as pleasant as possible. I am so grateful to these amazing people and their giant hearts.
Oishei Children's Hospital
I had an appointment at 4 pm. My doctor keila Garcia schedule my induction earlier than my expected date due to my health reason. But the hospital miss management situation and rude customer service agent aren’t helpful at all. They don’t bother to call me instead they were giving me time after time and said they don’t have any available bed. If I am schedule for deliver why can’t this hospitals take patient seriously even they know giving birth is a serious matter. I called children hospital they just laugh about the whole situations
9/10 nurses do the minimum there... There just there for hours. Prey you get that 1/10 nurse that is thorough and compassionate. They make the place LOOK GOOD MON-FRI 9-5. The nights weekend staff is usually the worse and the Residents are just drones until the doctors get back the next day. Nurses forget what time to feed. .. when to change diapers and give medication late ( or not give at all) just for starters. OVERALL they WILL try to keep your kid alive but I ONLY recommend taking your kids here for a MINOR COLD or something. Do not leave your child ALONE.
My daughter was in today for some tests for Hydronephrosis.. ALMOST everyone we came in contact with today was amazing EXCEPT the ultrasound tech.. If you cannot handle a BABY crying you shouldn't be working in a CHILDRENS hospital! She kept making comments under her breath and I could tell she was annoyed by her mannerisms. I understand everyone has bad days and its extremely frustrating dealing with a fussy baby but that was completely unacceptable..
What a beautiful facility. What a great group of people that work so hard to take care of all our kids!
Don't go in the night
Very good experience for us. All Staff are very caring and this place is so clean.
My sweet baby boy is COMING HOME WEDNESDAY ???????????????? 25 days in the nicu. ???????? some days where harder then others, But I am thankful for doctors Vali and Diane that help save my sons life???????? and the all the nurses who took great care of legend. as a young firsts time mom your made my stay here smooth and you all dude amazing job.
I, along with fellow officers and superheroes, let some of the children know, they are in our hearts and prayers
Worst experience ever. This hospital does not take care of your child. This hospital performs not required very torturous tests on children, unrelated to what the pediatrician asked them to do. Then have them tell you that were unnecessary. Do not go here. They don't care and they should be checked on their practices.
The Tim Horton's coffee shop in here might be the friendliest one in town
What a horrible experience, high risk pregnancy , transferred from another hospital, I get here they have no pillows anywhere apparently in the hospital to be found. Have to make one out of bed sheets. I had 4 different nurses in 2hrs and no one seemed to be in on the same page. Specialist told me I need to monitored in labor and delivery , well they ended up moving me and some other woman to the 9th floor pediatric intensive care unit because they ran out of beds on the labor and delivery and maternity floor for after delivery. Pediatric intensive care??!!! There are no tubs or showers on the floor and forget being able to visit with many people. What kind of brand new huge hospital meant for high risk cases cannot accommodate their patients and jockey them around like checkers? I wouldn't recommend coming here for labor and delivery if you can avoid it.
My wife had our son here. Care was great, and they don't take the baby from you because they have these mobile baby stations. Would recommend
The wait time in the ER is unacceptable. Maybe I am spoiled from always having Children’s Hospital of UPMC of Pittsburgh where their service is quick. They have Children's Express all over the city of Pittsburgh and their ER has plenty of rooms, plenty of staff and their fast track is fast. Buffalo is a nice city but I would rather drive the 3 hours to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital then to wait the 5plus hours my son had to wait to be seen. And the staff that I did experience could be nicer.
Very neglectful. Went for my sons teeth to be repaired. They told me after 4 hours of being there (and nothing getting done!) That they make everyone get there 4 hours and advance for their surgery's. The reason they finally told me is that the surgeon was running an hour late. Prior everyone I spoke to kept telling me "just a few more minutes" then that's switched to " the lady who knew went home, I'm not sure" which turns into sitting in one room for 4 hours and another room for an hour and change before speaking to a real dr. Meanwhile my son hadn't ate for nearly 24hrs. When I buzzed a nurse in the room i was in for an hour to ask how much longer she told me the doctor was late and the hunger was bothering me, not my son (which didnt make sense). My son told her he was starving, and she ignored and dissapeared for the remainder of our visit. Over all half a start performance.
Every time when I went ..all staffs look so aggressive and unprofessional..which is so stupid ..especially.. front desk worker are so rude ..I don’t know how they got hired there ...being a staff in hospital, first they should know how to deal with patient and the visitors ..I really had a bad experience...plz make sure they working in hospital not in prison ..and another things ..I stayed there with my kid like 3 days nobody comes to clean the room not even change the garbage .....it not about money they earn, it all about the Money that we pay them. So I don’t wanna see that stupid faces again again to make my day bad ...
Took great care of my son
I'll start with the staff. As I understand the huge responsibility that doctors carry. I don't understand why our discharge attendant told us to pick up "VASHE" From Buffalo General. She said it wasn't part of the prescription we had to pick up at Wegmans. There's absolutely NO PARKING EVER in this area and I had to take a sick child from one hospital to the next. Once I recieved what they consider"Vashe" I left to go to Wegmans and pick up the antibiotics my child needed to recover. And guess what? It was on the prescription. So after paying for parking overnight I was forced to pay for parking by entering a parking gate and only being there 10mins. $7. The attendant couldn't verify my time stamo. This os a terrible job by the city and the staff which caused a great inconvenience and confusion. SHAME ON ALL INVOLVED. My child just had surgery.
My advice-- don't go into the E.R. here. Half the staff doesn't know how to do basic procedures for people with actual medical problems. It took 2 nurses an hour and a half to access my son's mediport despite them insisting they knew what they were doing and being nasty. Another nurse got it in 1 minute. Oncology floor is pretty good despite having no respect for sleep on behalf of patients and family (my son was in for a month with leukemia) because the medical students needs and research are much more important than the actual patients in this hospital. There is not much respect for the rights of the patients and families.
I had surgery there and stayed over night. The nurses were AWESOME!!! And so was the surgeon
My daughter was given a flu and COVID test. No one ever came and told me her results for the flu. We sat in the room for hours. She had a high temp. That place is a joke. Next time we’ll go to urgent care and get better results.
I recently gave birth at the new facility and have to say it was the worst experience ever! I had a scheduled cesarean due to some medical concerns so you would think they would look at it as something serious. I was poked numerous times by their delivery prep team for IV in both arms. I was poked numerous times by the anesthesiologist because the wrong needles were used for numbing during the procedure. After a day it was like staff forgot I even existed with me being waken at 6am to be asked if I wanted to be discharged after a night. I declined because I still hasn't been out the bed and walking (I knew this was required due to previous child birth experience done at Millard Fillmore Suburban). I was prescribed medicine for home just to find it was a blood thinner I wasn't told I needed and was to be taken using syringes that no script was sent to my pharmacy for. I wasn't even shown how to insert myself using syringes before being discharged. Weeks later I received my child's Acknowledgment of Paternity form to find that my nurses failed to sign the witness line for myself but signed for my childs father after checking his I.D. when my nurse was adamant that it was a legal form that needed to sign off on by staff upon disharge causing a delay in me receiving my childs birth certificate. I then called to find that I could have friends sign and just mail the form back (not as legal as it seems.. hmm). I had none of these problems at Suburban and regret not going back for the birth of this child. The only reason I decided on this location was because my child was having complications and their Perinatal Team located in the new Conventus building recommended it.
Where do I begin??? Absolutely appalled at the treatment from the staff at this hospital. They made us feel like we were in a prison our whole stay and were not friendly or accommodating. Absolutely do not recommend. Dont even know how they are still in business. Clearly just interested in money and not helping children.
Surgeons were great and the care for the most part was good but.......one of the most important things (in my opinion) was handled poorly during our stay which is why they got this rating. My 6 month old had surgery and her pain management was definitely lacking. Despite having a plan and talking with each nurse when shifts changed we often had to ask for medications or remind them that a dose was due and and often waited up to an hour to recieve it. It is the worst feeling as a parent to watch your kid in pain and know someone can fix it or help but has dropped the ball. I hope they work on improving this, i would hate for other parents to go through the same.
This Hospital is Amazing!!!! A few years back my 8yr old grandson, could hardly walk, he was packed full in his intestinal track. As soon as we arrived there, we went to administration where you check in. No sooner than 20mins. later we where called to be seen. My grandson was checked out by three different people and then they said yep he is having a baby....that is how backed up my grandson was. It was no time at all before they had sedated him yet he was awake but not aware of the manual extraction going on. I was never so grateful in all my life for these wonderful amazing people that we encountered that night. And they gave a great recommendation to a Specialist in Batavia, NY that we followed up with. Thank You to all of the Doctors, Staff, Physicians Assistants, those in Xray for the amazing gifts you all have to make people feel at ease and well. God Bless Everyone.
We had Rebekkah in our room while my wife was induced and she was honestly the best.
The atmosphere is so friendly for children. Besides the unmentioned three hour delay for a tonsil removal was ridiculous. Appointment was scheduled for 330 was told be in by 1pm. brought in at 555pm for 20 min surgery discarded at 850pm such a long day but the nurses and attendes were so friendly gave us so many crafts to do to keep us occupied they were fabulous. Just wish someone would of said the doctor is running late theres an x amount of patients ahead of you idk something.
They took great care of my son when he had minor surgery. Dr. Bouton and the entire staff were amazing.
I have to say that the emergency room staff is aweful the doctors aren’t bad at all but the staff in the waiting room and the nurses have an aweful bedside manner I understand that they deal with a lot but if you can’t handle your job don’t choose that profession the staff on the upper floors are amazing but the new emergency room is an absolute shame all the money that went into the new hospital and you think they could have spent money on staff that cares about their lil patients seriously a waste of money
I think it is annoying that they don’t let children in to see their newborn cousin, or aunt or something like that. Other hospitals let you see the babies so why does this one not?! Worst experience I came there to see a baby and they wouldn’t let me. Staff were rude. Complete waste of time.
After a quick assessment and spinal fluid test in the ED. Then being admitted. We spent 11 days with our daughter on the 11th floor. The doctors, nurses, and support staff went beyond my expectations in caring our daughter. One nurse in particular stands out. Her name is Becca. She was with us just about everyday. She always took her time with our daughter that can be difficult to work with as she has ASD. I would sum up our experience with OCH as a blessing. The hospital is beautiful and the staff is spot on. Thank you for all your comittment and dedicatiom.
I am on time for my sons appointment.. staff is a half hour late and counting..
My husband and 3 year old daughter sat in the emergency room for 8 hours and were essentially there for nothing because that's what we got. Nothing. My daughter was complaining of pain, she was vomiting & had a fever. The only test they did was a urinalysis. They did no covid test, they barely looked in her ears. They didn't do anything. This was a few days ago and today her pediatrician diagnosed her with an ear infection. The doctors at Oishei barely looked in her ears. The Dr mentioned the wax in her ears, but if he actually managed to do his job & looked more closely maybe they would've caught the ear infection. But they didn't. Because of that, my child had to suffer longer than she should have. This is a hospital that specializes in children, you'd think with how often kids get ear infections they'd be able to notice it? I am severely disappointed with this & makes me wonder how thorough they really are.
I cannot stop singing the praises of the Oishei nursing staff. Everyone was absolutely amazing when we came in for the delivery of our baby. The nurses took time to listen to us, they heard my needs and they all were incredibly pleasant to work with.
Everyone from the front desk, to the doctors and nurses are so rude, you'd think because there are sick children they'd be a little more considerate
I think a 3.5 is probably more of my rating. New location is smaller than old location. Things are already broke and falling apart. While in triage with my wife, the sliding door to the room was broke and swung open and bumped me. I was talking with one of the nurses and she was saying things are breaking all over and they even had a TV fall off the wall. Other than the poor planning, layout, expensive parking (dropped $50 for a 6 day parking) and of course location, the staff kind and great to work with.
Really one of the worst experiences we have had with any of our children. The old hospital was much more efficient. We were transported here via ambulance at 7:30. Hours have passed before anyone with pertinent information has come in to see our son. The staff is friendly, but was much more visible in the old Children’s hospital. It is 1:00 am and we had to wait this long for an ultrasound and to find out it was constipation causing abdominal pain. Very disappointed in the overall care and concern for our child.
I had to wait 3 hours with a broken leg until i got help
Dr Ted Andrews is a very dirty, self centered, horrible, who has no heart in to insulting patients parents.
Nurse & doctor are really unprofessional.I’m waiting 2 & half hours in emergence room.after that they call me even there are not that much people.my child was really sick not only my other kids also something but they are gossip each other.
Sat in the e.r for 6 hours with my one year old who was running a fever. I eventually left because it was 3am and went to his pediatrician the same morning who seen him and prescribed him meds in less than 30 minutes. Moral of the story is go to your pediatrician if you can wait it out, giving them Motrin or Tylenol if needed, because the e.r is ridiculously slow.
It's not until I saw that the hospital is celebrating it's 1st anniversary that I remembered that I did not leave my review from when we were here with my son 9 months ago. You can check out my wife's review and it's sad that I see similar issues with many other reviewers since then. We were sent to Children's with my 5 day old son for his bilirubin levels. To start, the front desk attendant had an attitude totally unbecoming of the first person you should meet in the Emergency Room check in at a Children's Hospital. Rude, unprofessional, and I hope she never has a medical emergency, and has someone treat her the way she treats others. At one point, during our marathon of waiting, I heard another parent complain to her about her attitude, to no avail. Sadly, judging by these reviews, she still works there... Communication was severely lacking between the doctors and staff in the ER. Was promised a room "soon" at 4:30pm, only to be admitted near 11pm. My wife stayed overnight and has called it the worst and scariest night of her life as the hospital was a ghost town, and nobody answered her calls and pages (the nurses phone was off, which she attributed to being off a few days, with little to no empathy towards my wife, recovering from child birth). Our night nurse was awful and also unresponsive. My son didn't get his security bracelet until the following morning. Also the locked doors you had to buzz into to get to your room... were not locked. I was able to walk in & out at all times of day and night. People would come and go and ask us the same questions, we'd give the same answers, they'd write them down and clearly never share with one another, because we'd go through the same routine with the next people. For being a Children's Hospital, we were told they did not have Vaseline, also they didn't have any diapers that were the right size for my son...a newborn...at a children's hospital... Also I know that it's tough to keep sensors and whatnot on a newborn, but machines would go off constantly, to which someone showed us how to silence them. That part, I get. What's troubling is that we were so sick of doing that, we took them off him. It showed my son, essentially was flatlining, for hours, before someone noticed and came in because he wasn't registering a pulse. Again, I get if that's what thy were taught because my son wasn't in a life or death situation, but come on. At one point our garbage was overflowing, and we told every doctor, nurse, intern, person who delivered food, anyone... until our awful night nurse almost redeemed herself by finally helping us (by moving a bag full of garbage and dirty diapers in the hallway...sanitary, no?) In the end, we were kept in the dark about what was going on. Granted, the first tests for my son's condition we more wait-and-see approaches, which I get, but let us know so we don't have expectations of leaving soon. Also, wrong tests were ordered at one point too. We more or less discharged ourself, after given instructions of how to care for our son's condition when we were going to be discharged later that day, different people came in an hour later, to tell us they wanted us to stay so they can do exactly what we were taught to... aka bills our insurance for another night. The only shining light at this place, besides the deli on the 2nd floor, was our day nurse, Dale. Dale truly is outstanding. He deserves to be recognized as great at his job. He knew we were in a tough spot as new parents and he was compassionate and did his best to bring a smile into the room and to try to lighten the mood when he could. I hope things are better after one year (judging by the reviews on Google, it's a mixed bag). If anyone reads these, please, do something about the check-in woman at the ER (I assume if you're from Oishei, you likely already know who everyone is speaking about) and please make an effort to do the basics, like take out the garbage, have staff at nurses stations as often as possible, and to communicate better, with patients and with each other.
The doctors, particularly Scott Bouton at this hospital refused to give my 7 year old brother tests after he had been throwing up at least once a day for over a consecutive week. He was INCREDIBLY rude to us and acted like he was too good to be helping us and his nurse was just as bad. Although the pediatrician ordered tests to be done, they refused him the tests after keeping us waiting for FOUR HOURS and made us feel like we were being ridiculous and overreacting for being concerned. If you do not wish to help people and are going to make people feel BADLY for caring about their loved ones then you should NOT be working at a medical facility, let alone an emergency room. I’m appalled at the attitude of some of these staff members. Would not recommend bringing your children here for the ER.
After a perfectly healthy pregnancy and a planned home birth I ended up needing to be transferred to Oishei because there was meconium and some swelling issues. I had a successful forceps delivery and my daughter was then transferred to the NICU with my partner for some breathing issues. Once at the NICU the resident on call mentioned to my partner a cooling treatment they might want to do on my daughter but he was being rushed out of the room (so they could take care of her breathing issue) and he told the doctor he definitely did not want her to do anything without consulting him. She said she would get back to him with more information about it after they finished dealing with the breathing issue. After almost an hour when I was finally done and he and I were allowed back in the room we found our daughter already covered in EEG wires, and on a cooling pad. Not only did they not get our consent when we specifically asked for it but it ends up our daughter didn’t even meet the criteria for the cooling treatment. When this was brought up to the resident she made it clear that she had made huge incorrect assumptions about our daughters health based solely on the fact that we planned a home birth and had a midwife. This happened OVER AND OVER AGAIN throughout our stay in the NICU. We expressed our horror with the staff over their disregard and apparent prejudice against us and asked them to communicate with us about everything they wanted to do to our daughter but they continued not communicating about new procedures and tried to blame our midwife for manipulating us into disagreeing with them. We have filed a complaint with the board of health and are doing everything we can to prevent this kind of prejudice for future patients.
Considering I was born in the old children’s hospital, I was sad this new facility opened and closed the old. I can honestly say when I had to take my son their today I was amazed! Beautiful State of the Art facility! Buffalo is Lucky is have such a place. From the moment I walked in everyone I encountered who worked there had a smile on their face. The wait time was that of a normal place taking patients as they came in. As soon as we checked and after the nurse checked us in the computer we were taken back to a room in the ER in less then 5 minutes. Everybody who interacted with us for the duration of our visit was extremely good with children and was happy to be helping make my little guy feel better. This is a state of the art facility, with all personal trained to do a job to provide for our children here in Buffalo, and those who come here for our treatment! If I could give this place 10 Stars ⭐️ I would! Thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors at The new Children’s, you all rock! -The Story Family Of South Buffalo
I took my 6 month old there at 3am for wheezing, fever and not drinking. He was diagnosed the day before at his dr office with RSV and Influenza Type b. They told me what to look for and go to the ER if any symptoms occur. Checking in was a hassle. Should of walked out then. They repeatedly spelled my sons name wrong. Took a rectal temp twice with a broken thermometer. Answers the phone in the middle of me registering. Then in the ER placed my sons O2 meter loosely so for an hour getting wrong info off the monitor. The nurse fixed it. Then sent us to the observant room. Where we sat for 4 hours without being seen. I finally told the nurse at the desk we were leaving. She called someone who said if we leave they will call CPS on us for refusing medical treatment. What treatment???? No one even bothered to check my sons fever, breathing or o2 levels. I will never ever ever go there again
the nurses in the blood draw unit were loud and rude but I did get a good one shout out to her
Everyone and everything was awesome. My son had been to two different hospitals and was misdiagnosed both times. Upon arrival the doctors and nurses rushed to figure out what was wrong, I felt as if they cared as much as us the parents did. We were greatly accommodated and had a clean and comfortable room. Two TV's and room service. Not to mention the they have a full play room and plenty of staff giving out presents and help to my son's needs. It was awesome and the security is great. Oh even the Parking staff was helpful and kind.
Took my 1year old here at about 10pm with a fever of 103.1 sat in the waiting room for a hour and a half before we went to the back did not leave until 4am
Only two lanes, thru traffic and valet parking with large poles between. Went through the thru lane to get stuck behind someone standing in the thru lane refusing to move, parking valley didn't even attempt to tell him to move. Asked to be make a complaint and was sent to several different people all saying it's not their problem. This place stinks for service. Should have stayed on Bryant.
My wife and I were there for the birth of our daughter. A lot of the staff were nice. We ended up going up to the 8th floor after our daughter was born, my wife had a c section which is a major surgery. One resident that had an african accent was rude to my wife early in the morning that we would getting discharged. She was pressing on her stomach and telling her not to cry, which was very unprofessional. She should’ be allowed around patients at all.
They said I had a concussion and they only checked my foot not head and they did not do any scanning
I just left this hospital without being seen after been waiting in the waiting room for three hours it is absolutely ridiculous they even had children who were vomiting all over the place sitting in the waiting room for more than an hours time left to contaminate others I will take my daughter and wait till the morning and go to a pediatric urgent care where she will be treated like a person and not a number
Trouble services
Had to take my son here late one night for an emergency visit. Both paid parking lots were closed as it was 11pm, no valet available, so we had to park a few blocks away. The emergency drive up area was blocked off so couldn't drop off my wife and child. How is this acceptable for emergency services, had to walk 2 blocks in cold weather with my child who was having difficulty breathing. Then both the front and side entrances are closed at this time, called them and they told us to come to the back entrance which we couldn't find so we had to wait and enter when an employee entered. Once we were in and seen by staff they were all friendly and helpful but getting into the building was near impossible, how is this considered emergency services. Something needs to be changed.
I had my son in August. He was born at 36 weeks and 3 days. He ended up having to be in the NICU. I wanted to breasfeed and i told the nurse and doctor that. I wasnt even allowed near my son for 48 hours or to even eat for 48 hours. I absolutely despise this hospital. Instead of listening to me about me wanting to breastfeed they went ahead and gave him formula
We've, unfortunately, had to visit his hospital several times throughout the years. The staff are friendly and really listen to you. The colorful design capture kids attention. The free wifi help kids remain occupied while they wait.
Wonderful, caring staff, saved our boy's life! Went above and beyond to help us with our expenses. Many genuine, good hearts here. Thank God for Oishei Children's Hospital!
My son was sick and needed to be taken by ambulance to Children's he actually told the Dr he hopes if hes ever sick enough to need an ER again he could go back there. All the staff was very attentive and friendly. Keep up the good work everyone. I know that we in healthcare get cruddy reciews because of thing beyond our control. Way to make a terrifying morning bearable.
Been here over 3 hours and still nothing. And worst than that they told me they waiting on doctor to come from home because it is Sunday ????
If I could rate my experience to zero stars I would. I have full respect for nurses.. And I understand it’s a difficult time right now but Honestly This is just scary. First of all a lady that was a nursing assistant was very aggressive with her tone and when she was handling my child. I really am surprised at how awful she was.. she literally works with children and she should understand that babies cry. And the fact that she was yelling at me to hold him down and then the way she was grabbing on him was hard to watch. Her name was tammie. So look out for her. I don’t know if it was a bad day for her or what not but I don’t care you don’t treat people or kids like that. To top it off the rn nurse was very rude when I was asking questions. Horrible horrible experience. Such a sad world we live in.
Excellent Çare For My Grandson & His Dr. Allison Binkley Was The Best Orthopedic Surgeon I've Ever Seen!! I Give Them 10 Stars+!!
Terrible service, appointment at 1:30 didn’t get seen till 3pm my parking meter expired and got a ticket, very poor patient awareness in this place, highly discourage this choice of routine pregnancy visit.
Had an appointment with a PA in Neurology when we arrived they informed us that they cancelled our appt. asked a Dr if he could see us and he said no I have a 9:00. Told me I have enough time to drive home for a telephone visit. Had to pull over and talk to the Dr. came in the following week and the nurse didn’t know how to do an orthostatic BP. Luckily we are educated in these things. We have private pay Dr.s because my daughter is so extremely ill from severe Pots. Recommend the Dysautonia clinic and Dr. Kalpana Patel at the environmental health center.
My daughter was rushed from one hospital to here awful childrens for emergency surgery at approximatly 2am she was not taken care of immediatly as told they waited too long so the object passed the scope of reach and then she didnt get a room until hours later. Now about the staff lord jesus, so the docs and nurses etc. She was told by many all day that they were going to give her miralax to get it to pass that way by chance now let me tell i its damn RAZOR that needs to be taken out thats what the object is in there. As we plan the wait game another many hours still no miralax only some ibuprofen they want her to take by mouth as they say nothing in mouth no food or water. Needless to say she vomits blood everywhere. Again and again. Im pressing buttons screaming for nurses anyone finally as my child screams in pain they want to push her stomach with the razor still inside. I lost it i became very vocal at this point told them to stop telling me what they have to do and chain of commands i get it. I dont care what u need to do, just do it my child is screaming in pain and you are paid to to fix her not talk. Next thing i know the hospital calls cps on me saying i starve my child mind you she is 240lbs. There is much more to this story but ill leave that for another time #youcanchangeyourbodybutyourstilluglyinside Just a statement about this place. New building same crappy workers inside.
These mfs take forever to do everything... Had to wait 6 HOURSS for them to check ma daughter hernia
My son was transferred to childrens when he was born and admitted into the NICU. He was there for almost 5 months, and they have some of the best staff, and doctors. I couldn't have been happier. They SAVED my sons life and I couldn't be more thankful for all of the wonderful work they did to help my baby boy
Took my 2 yr old son to the ER. Service was quick, thorough and professional.
I had an emergency c-section here and my daughter needed to be in the nick for about 2 months they all helped This scracy experience be a little less scary!!!
Horrible people they all just walking around I took my permie baby there with a high fever they didnt do anything I had no choice but to leave and take my baby to his doctors. And yes they did ask me why I didn't take him to the Emergency room.
Everyone treated my son very well during his stay. Thank You for everything????❤
I thought our local hospital was bad this hospital is the worst. My 7yr old daughter was in extreme abdominal pain it took hours to be seen. My daughter is terrified of getting blood work due to being traumatized from a previous experience. My daughter asked the nurse for a second to prepare herself and the nurse said no I don't have a second shoved my daughter to the bed held her down. Needless to say my daughter is even more traumatized now. If you do not know how to treat scared children you have no business working in a Children's hospital
My 3 year old son had an accident that required him to be seen first at urgent care, then referred out to John Oishei’s emergency room. When we arrived at the hospital, we were seen immediately. He had a foreign body in his little knee that needed to be removed. The intake nurses were really polite & helpful. The emergency room nurse & physicians were above and beyond knowledgeable and caring. We were greeted with a “care team” who brought my son an iPad to use, some stickers and crayons & coloring books. After the emergency room staff tried to remove the object without success (confirmed by an X-ray), they decided to admit him for surgery. The surgical team....was amazing. They helped my son feel comfortable, which is hard to do with a 3 year old. The surgeon did a great job extracting what turned out to be a large fragment of glass from his leg/knee. Finally, his discharge process was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered, treated us like we were “family”. The entire hospital is beautiful and clean, with a modern look and feel. Even the parking ramp & attendants were great!! Buffalo is blessed to have this hospital and staff in our city. Thank you from the bottom of my families heart. You all are appreciated.
My son has been to this fantastic facility twice in the past two months. Both visits have been some of the best hospital encounters we have ever had. The staff is amazing, the facility is top notch, and we loved the private rooms we stayed in. Special thanks to JAMES, an RN on the 11th floor who went above and beyond for my son Conner. Thanks so much to all the staff and keep up the great work!
Terrible parking, extremely long wait times with no updates. Will not come back. Much better off going to an urgent care. Shame that a children’s hospital is so unfriendly
Absolutely a terrible experience here tonight. Came to get my daughter checked due to consistent vomiting, and being that I’ve never been here before, we didn’t really know where to go. So not only is there a specific exit across the way from the parking garages but you have to use (which is terrible during these freezing temperatures because it’s a block of a walk) , we walk in and we’re very rudely greeted. We didn’t know what to do as we’ve never been to the new location before, so I kindly asked the lady if I was supposed to follow the dr back, and the lady looked at me, ignored me, rolled her eyes and looked to another lady and said “did we even call them yet” (which they did, I clearly know my daughters name) Absolutely uncalled for and unwelcoming..... Do not even want to trust them to touch my child. And haven’t even been seen yet. Not looking forward to what comes next.
Worst ER visit experience ever. Over a 5 hour wait for stitches. Absolutely unacceptable
The best place for the kids of WNY!
Came to the emergency room with my daughters hands burned.. 3 hours later still in the waiting room. This place is a joke.. I kept asking them if I was being pranked. This hospital is absolutely pathetic.
My daughter had an appointment for my 3 month old granddaughter for today - in the middle of COVID, had to take the day OFF from work park 3 blocks away lugging the baby in her carrier because of all the construction. They get there on time to be told their appointment was cancelled because the doctor wanted the day of. Everyone was seen on Monday. They never were notified of the cancellation nor to reschedule for this past Monday, when she was off and wouldn’t have had to miss work. Nurse insisted she contacted everyone- neither my daughter or her husband received a call- they had both numbers. Frustrated and upset my daughter is now trying to find a pediatric ophthalmologist to see her 3 month old. This is appalling and unacceptable! It may just be a job to your staff, but their lack of regard and respect for their smallest clientele is disgusting. If I did my job this poorly and don’t care attitude I would be fired! Funny, if my daughter didn’t show up or cancel 48 hrs in advance she would be charged. Nothing like making people- new parents at that, feel so insignificant that you screw them over and there is nothing they can do about it. Curious as to what type of accountability standards there are in place? File a complaint? It’s not worth the paper it’s written on, and it wouldn’t change what took place today. Shame on you for allowing this behavior. Tell me again how you put children first? Sad thing is- this is the norm not an exception.
Still a little upset about our experience yesterday in the Emergency Room with my 10 week old son. We went due to a high temp and him not acting himself. The hospital itself is beautiful, everyone seemed so friendly. We get to our room and the first gentleman appeared, he stated his name and asked what brought us in. I explained and he began the exam. After examination he recommended I alternate Tylenol and Motrin. Asked how the baby is eating and I told him usually 6 oz every 2-3 hours (WITH NO ISSUES). After leaving the room a second gentleman appears and explains how I’m over feeding my son and how he is getting triple the amount I should be giving him and that we should cut back on the formula. Finally the doctor comes in and explains that I shouldn’t listen to the RESIDENTS because they don’t know what they are talking about. Don’t switch the feeding and do not give Tylenol until fever is present. Didn’t even know the two individuals weren’t doctors until she said so! I asked if I was to follow the first residents instructions about the Tylenol and Motrin and she tells me my son can’t even have Motrin until he is 6 months old! Glad I asked!! So unprofessional to let these two trainees in my room unattended giving WRONG, UNPROFESSIONAL opinions without even addressing that THEY AREN’T REAL DOCTORS YET!! I’m extremely upset about our experience here and hope we never have to go back!
One of the biggest problems is never having needed supplies for my son. He has sensory issues and wears abdominal binders (which were introduced to me for my son's sensory by W&C Hospital ), as inpatient there was always problems obtaining a clean binder. My son had surgery at W&C Hospital, an ileostomy, in September. Obviously he has OSTOMY BAG, which Oishei Children's cannot seem to obtain. W&C HOSPITAL and Oishei are one in the same...new building, new name but the same hospital. My son has been inpatient, once again, at Oishei, for 25 days and they STILL HAVE NOT SUPPLIED THE CORRECT SUPPLIES. He is currently wearing the WRONG WAFER. While we are at it, housekeeping on 10th floor is horrible. Bathroom rarely clean, you have to track down someone from housekeeping for TOILET PAPER. Very discouraging
Staff is wonderful. Building is beautiful. Very good medical care. It’s everything you’d hope for in a children’s hospital.
Slow slow slow. The nurses and doctors just walking around.
ER staff and doctors are friendly and efficient!
Took my daughter to er and had to leave as i had no money for parking. All the parking by er is for doctors only. Its a shame that ypu have to pay for er visits. If ypu do t have the money for parking you cant be seen. Once inside hospital ypu are good. But they should have parking for emwrgency room. Why should one have to pay to get help. When they are making enough througj the viaet. Then if ypu dont jave money for parking ypu cant beell seen their
I thought it was kinda rude that the security kinda laughed and smiled when I had come into the emergency room since my child was coming by ambulance because she was in a car accident with her other parent. So of course I'm going to be a bit upset because I haven't seen my kid yet. I had no clue how badly injured they were. Then I finally get to go in in back and the staff in the er was a bit rude. They were a bit rough with putting an iv in my child's arm and didn't really want to answer any questions I had to why you were giving my child an iv if the x-rays and other things were normal.
My experience was terrible the wait the wait in the pediatric out patient was ridiculous for me to have an appointment. Dam close to 2 hours they called all the kids with Medicaid 1 I knew for sure. Like why and the hell schedule a procedure, etc then tell someone report early in the morning and have the wait like forever w/o any notification or updates. They need a children's hospital in the suburbs. Who wants to come into the city of Buffalo anyway it's a toilet like this hospital.
Excellent service from the time we got there until the time of discharge. Staff were so kind, the doctors/nurses were very competent and explained EVERYTHING to us. Definitely my hospital of choice!! (Our 2y/o broke her arm in 2 places, we were there for xrays, realignment of the bones and casting)
You would think at 12:45 am you'd be attended to , been here over 2 hrs and still waiting, if there was an other children's hospital near us I would never come here
I will never ever again take my child here again and I won’t recommend them too anyone my experience was beyond horrible
Labor and delivery so rude it's your special day and to them it's a miserable day .was excited to see ew hospital but quickly the staff showed there new world power after screwing up epidural 7 times .you ask questions then they threaten with security .will have nextvaby elsewhere
Needing to set up an MRA for my 15 yo. Buff Gen sent us to Schedule with Oshei due to her age. While speaking to the MRI scheduling receptionist, she constantly questioned why she needed the test done, why the dr.(cardiologist) Was requesting the test, stating that it didn’t make sense. When I asked if she could get the script that was sent by the dr. to buff gen, she got annoyed and told me no. I eventually had the cardiologist office send the script directly to Oshei, called to see if they received it and try to schedule appt, was rudely told no. I attempted to call back several times through out the afternoon, calls went directly to voicemail. No call was returned, and the scheduling office closes at 2:30 every day! Completely unacceptable, especially since I was the one making all the calls!
I was treated horribly. I will never come back, I came for help and instead I received attitudes from most of the staff. This hospital is horrible. It Doesn’t even deserve the one star.
No parent should EVER have to bring their own thermometer to an ER! My daughter was never checked on, I had to take her temperature myself and inform them it was almost 103! Only then did they finally come in to check it only after I told the aide who answered my call light. They are looking for medical malpractice law suites by the looks of all the other reviews! Waited 6 hours for a urine, very disappointed!
Ignore all the negative reviews, they clearly are Karen’s.
The hospital is outstanding. It's the fact that I have to pay outrageous amounts of money per day to park to visit my son in the hospital that kills me. I was there for a weekend Friday&Saturday&Sunday afternoon only to run home to get some supplies and a shower, only to be charged 25$ for parking a ramp. And the staff at the ramp. I didn't have a card and then they told me they don't accept cash, when the person ahead of me just paid cash! She was very rude to me also.
Never will bring my child here again. Brought my 15 year old son to the ER because immediate care was closed. He had fallen at work and injured his hand, possibly fractured. Arrived at 8:30 PM and I thought it was going fairly smooth. They took him for an x-ray after triaging him (within 20 minutes of arrival) then sent him back out to the ER waiting room to wait. At approximately 10:20 pm I questioned the triage nurse why he hadn't been taken back yet even though atleast 5 children that arrived after us were taken back and discharged in the time that we waited. She stated that it was a weekend and they sent their x-ray out to be read and hadn't received the report back. Annoyed, I still continued to wait until 11:10 at which time I signed him out without being seen. When I questioned whether or not his pediatrician would receive the report she stated no that he hadn't been seen by as medical professional so they wouldn't receive the x-ray report. I bet I still get billed for the test and interpretation though as I was told that they do not do 3rd party billing even though I looked online and they do participate with multiple workers compensation carriers. Taking him to immediate care in the morning.
All the hoopla about this New hospital is over rated. I've been sitting here with my child for littarly hours. Parking ridiculous...staff seems over worked...the old hospital seemed more efficient.
2:00 in the morning and the emergency waiting room is packed full of helpless families trying to get care for their children. Some families have waited for over 8 hours just to get a room. Treat your employees better so you can get people to come to work. Disgusting company.
Excellent....was able to get right in for CT scan and xrays!! Dr. Li always takes excellent care of my son.
This place makes you wait for 3-4 hours before they can get you in. Better off going to a regular hospital. Very friendly staff but the wait is a killer. You could go to your doctor and go home before your seen here.
Absolutely the best facility for your young ones. Truly enjoyed our stay there. I would definitely recommend this hospital to all.
My gf just had are first baby here and the staff was amazing all nice very informative and took care of us with all of our needs
Very happy with my visit, the staff is great with children. They made my daughter very comfortable. Highly recommend!
Yup
I gave birth to a preemie baby girl at 25 weeks in the middle of a pandemic. The majority of nurses and staff have been so caring and wonderful toward my daughter and the entire family. The NICU is an amazing place and the people who work there are some of the most special people in the world. I will forever be grateful for the dedication and care to my daughters health.
Had my daughter here and they were awesome! My nurse stayed by my side every second till alanna arrived! She was extremely nice, caring, knowledgeable, and supportive. She even came to visit me before we left the hospital! They made sure I was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and compassionate as I tried my hardest to hold off until my fiancé made it up to the room as he was on a flight home from Military orders! Than when we were moved to the room after labor another nurse came in and heard our story from the other nurses and she immediately got ahold of a Military organization she is apart of and they gave her a book a out parents leaving for deployment and stuffed animal dog for our daughter at home for when her daddy deploys again ! I will NEVER forget my experience there! I am so glad I delivered there!
The nurses on the 3rd floor outpatient surgical floor are absolutely horrible. My son had surgery today, the nurse he had was so rouse to him. She was rushing him to take his shoes off to get his weight and height, she rushed him to get all that for him to hurry up and wait for his surgery that began and hour and a half later. They seemed confused on what kind of surgery he was having, I called my doctors office to fax paperwork so they knew and they wouldn't cooperate with my family doctors office. Honestly these nurses need to be child and family friendly if they are going to work in CHILDREN'S hospital.
Not even one ???? yes they are vary good to my child but they could care less about the moms an dads that bring them in im not from here was trasffred here but they dont feed the patient moms an dads trusht me ive been here sicnce Thursday when i asked about geting something to eat they said foods for patients only then rudely waked out of my room its now sunday still nothing
All of the staff I had encountered, except for the front security, were rude and pissy. They all had an attitude when I asked for simple questions such as where a room was located, etc.
We had to use the hospital's emergency room today. Yes parking is a bit of a problem which is usually the case at any City Hospital. We used valet parking and had no trouble at all. All of the nurses and all the doctors from the x-ray technician all the way up were wonderful and friendly, very professional. The only problem I could see it's not having a separate waiting room for kids that are not sick. We we're waiting for x-rays for a broken finger and had to sit in the waiting room with 10 or 15 people that where contagious. Yes they had masks on, but they were touching all the furniture and everything. I was very uncomfortable in there since this is a deadly flu going around. The pediatrician has a separate waiting room for children that are not sick that would be a wonderful addition here.
I'm extremely disappointed with our son's visit today. He's had something wrong with that seemed to be his foot area. The local urgent care x-rays came back negative. We got an appointment with Oishei's orthopedic doctor for today. First, the waiting staff was extremely impatient. It's hard to fill out paperwork with a 19 month old who won't sit still, and being asked, are you finished yet multiple times. Once that was over, the doctor and RN didn't seem to agree on the proper course of action to treat my son. First, it was a possible bone wrinkle in the shin, but "we aren't entirely certain that's what it is." You'll likely need a cast for two weeks so he doesn't end up breaking his leg. Then, when putting the cast on, it was, "he has something that looks suspicious in his ankle." If it's his ankle, he wouldn't need a full leg cast. The doctor was extremely rude. The RN said that most kids wouldn't get a cast in this situation and would be perfectly fine, but our son could be the one who broke or fractured his leg worse than what it may be. Neither the doctor nor the RN seemed to agree on the proper course of actions. As parents, we're going by the recommendations of the doctor. To him, we were a number. His bedside manner was completely uncalled for. He was rude, and when asked questions, seemed to be annoyed. We are first time parents, with an injured 19 month old. Oishei's is a world renowned children's hospital. You'd assume that, since they're treating sick or injured children that it would be a pleasant place. It was anything, but a pleasant experience. We had minutes to make a decision about whether we should have our son's leg in a cast when there was no definitive evidence that anything was actually fractured. We're extremely disappointed with our visit, the doctor, and the overall experience.
Thank you for sending my daughter home in labor. Thank you for the low service My daughter had her beautiful baby this morning at sisters hospital... you guys suck.. no good of a hospital!! All that remodeling for nothing... y’all have her her discharge papers and at that send it with someone else.. no instruction given or nothing... way to go????????
Took my daughter in last night with a fever of 102.5 lower abdomen and right side pain at 8:40pm. They were very attentive for the first 45mins. Did a urine sample and X-ray. We were then told at 10am that an ultrasound would be performed. We never see another nurse or doctor until 12am when a nurse came in to perform vitals again. She told me they were not doing an ultrasound. I asked to see a doctor. 12:30 still no doctor I rang for the nurse and asked to see a doctor since no one had checked on my daughter. 12:45 finally an attending comes in tells me my daughter is fine and being discharged with fever and constipation. We watch as all the nurses and drs at the nurses station sat around on their cellphones and chit chatting. My daughter went 3.5 hours with nothing to drink bc I was told she couldn’t have anything till the dr allowed. Barely any tests were performed, my daughter still has a fever of 102.5 throwing up and still pain. I will never return to this hospital
Great people but terrible facility, parking costs a limb if you have one left. Poorly designed brand new building with bottlenecks and terrible flow.
Takes a long time but is extremely detailed and they are very supportive for all families. Every single employee has a heart of gold, everyone is extremely helpful.
For anything other than the emergency room, great hospital. But as far as the ER goes, it absolutely sucks. Sitting in the waiting room for HOURS. Other people getting called when I arrived at the hospital WAY before them. Rude triage nurses… They need more doctors here. Sucks that this is the only children’s hospital around buffalo. I would absolutely go somewhere else.
Took my baby sister cause she wasn’t breathing right my mom doesn’t know english so im her translator they didnt let me in they wanted me to wait outside a minor !!! at 12am and they didnt care for my 1 year old that wasn’t breathing
They took great care of my daughter when we were there. Very attentive, and excellent care. It really is a wonderful hospital
The worst hospital ever I took my son there from 10 o’clock morning till 5pm I didn’t see any doctor
My son had a seizure last week and we were taken to Children's Hospital. The nurses and doctors were nice but they didn't run any tests or give me any medical advice. I was a scared dad wondering what to do. Terrible.
If there was an option to not even give a star that's the rating this awful place would receive. We were told to be in at 9pm for an induction and ended up being able to go back around 11 then just sat and nothing for almost 3 hours, my wife asked for pain meds in labor and they never got them they took her meds never returned them to her. Then got told we were not going to the 8th floor them nurse came in and said let's go with no warning to pack up, got on the 8th and it took over 2 hours for our breakst cause they screwed up twice between saying she is not In the system and them gave her stuff to the wrong room just absolutely terrible, we were told and confirmed by the labor team and admin team that we can have myself and my mother to stay and no we are being asked by 8 for atleast 1 to leave. So this is never going to happen
My appointments are always at least an hour later than the scheduled time, but they demand you be here on time.
Absolutely love it here, they are fast and I would choose this place over the MAC Center any day
The place is very nice looking and clean. The people are friendly when, when being the keyword, they come into your room. But they seem to be very understaffed.
We drove over an hour and waited an hour to have labs drawn on my three year old granddaughter. We knew to expect anxiety. Pharmaceutical interventions were given to ease the stress. The staff told us “well if she didn’t move so much this would of been easier”. Very negative experience for my granddaughter to say the least. We drove expecting the staff to be experienced with drawings on children and that includes expectations that a three year old will be non-compliant with being stabbed with a needle.
We RECOMMEND GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR THE BIRTH OF YOUR CHILD! We had a very negative experience here. I missed the actual birth of my child because the nurses had to be told multiple times by the doctor to come and get me in the other room patiently waiting in my gown, per their instructions. A security guard made me walk around the entire hospital without a jacket in the bitter cold eventhough a nurse told me minutes prior that I could renter through that door since I had my hospital bracelet on. And we were stuck in a hot and stuffy hallway for over 30 minutes with my sore wife and cranky newborn due to an elevator issue. We recommend going somewhere else, we will never have another child here again!
Good doctors but rude receptionist asked for guidance and she acted like I was dumb also just hanged up the phone on me ????????
I stayed in the Epilepsy monitoring unit for about a week. The food wasn't the best but the staff made up for it. RN Bob made me feel like he truly cared about my case and would check in on me whenever he had the chance since he knew I didn't have many visitors. This world needs more RN's like Bob.
Nice building but slow staff 8 hours for a sonogram for my baby it was a waste of time worst experience ever
One star is too much Do not take your child there unless he/she is dying, I mean make this place the very last hell to think about. They should rename it “Oishei Children’s Hell” Very inhuman,
My fiancé had a C-section for the first time they made sure i was able to be with my fiancé and new born daughter they r both healthy
If i could give 0 stars i would. This place is AWFUL! We got here at 7pm and left at 3:30am. I took my 2 year old in for a fever of 103.2 that's lasted 48 hours. We sat in the waiting room for 5 hours. 5 freaking hours with a sick dehydrated kiddo. She was refusing to drink anything. She was sweating and cranky. There was 2 white families in the waiting room, one being mine. Both families were waiting HOURS. All the other non-urgent kids went before us (The kids that went before us were all running around and playing). We FINALLY got into a room in the back by midnight. They tested her for one thing and it came back negative and they told us to go home and give her Tylenol or motrin. We waited 3.5hours in the nack waiting to be seen and get results. These doctors don't care about the kids or their families go elsewhere to save your kids life. DO NOT EVER GO HERE unless its life or death. I will not be returning and I will definitely be calling my attorneys about this.
The doctors seems to be unhappy because the pediatricians office keep sending kids over here and is full. This cause that my son didn't got the treatment or make me feel calm. He has a fever, complaining of pain and they didn't even took a pee or blood work out. Just a pill for nausea which he doesn't have nausea and make a covid test with put testing for any bacteria or flu.
Rude staff. Except for the people at desks at every floor helping people. They are great.
Brought my daughter there Friday night and was taken in immediately. They were extremely informative and also made accommodations for myself as I spent the night there with my daughter. They provided me with a meal, bed and shower when they didnt have to. Constantly asking me if we needed anything. Our nurse in the morning was Brooklyn. Was extremely helpful. This is the 1st time I stayed over night at this facility but stayed at the last facility several times. I loved the last facility also. I can honestly say Brooklyn checked up on us the most I have ever seen by any nurse at either facility. Was constantly moving around working and providing support as it was a difficult time for my daughter and myself. Thanks again. Greatly appreciate it.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaad staff in Labor and Delivery. My wife was in huge amount of pain (9/10, naturally giving birth with no pain medication to her is 8 btw) and the nurses not only ignore her request for test and ultrasound, but the attitude is cold. Huuuuuge thumb down. Edit. Had to take my wife there again.. this time is even worse..
Horrible place
We sat here for 3 hours, our 4 year old puking for going on 12 hours. Still haven’t been given medication like we were told as soon as we got here. Asked how much longer and she says she “hasn’t had time to get to it” Absolutely horrible and they all have attitudes
Facility is new and nice however waiting time is excessive and emergency room staff is not helpful. Facility is not set up to properly triage patients, especially sick kids with a fever. We waited over an hour with a son spiking a temperature. No care or concern from the staff. Coming from the out of town, this is definetly one of the worst hospitals for kids that I have ever encountered in regards to staff, waiting time, and information. If it's an emergency, go somewhere else. You are better off waiting for your regular doctor.
Waited hours for a scheduled pediatric procedure with no updates or cummunication. Women at desk was very unsympathetic and blamed others.
Nursing staff is solid but the new hospital itself is so sterile for kids. Not a fun thing in this place. Bare walls. Other children's hospitals try to make the best of bad situations by making kids feel at home. This place is decorated like what I imagine the inside of an IRS office looks like.
I love it ????
All the the staff was nice and the food was great.
Had my 8 month old son sent there and the nurses were very rough with him in triage and then the attending there didn’t even see us once after 3 hours of waiting and they tried to discharge us without providing care. It took threats of lawsuits and involving local news to get the attending to actually come in and see us. Was finally given the care demanded after they found out I was a veteran. Awful people with no sense of work ethic or pride. Disgusted that people get treated this way. We have best healthcare insurance available and we’re treated this way, I can’t even imagine how they treat people with lower level insurances.
No where to park for emergency room. And they have attitude so far not impressed at all
This was the absolute worst care we have ever received at a hospital. Being a children’s hospital, you would think they would hire nurses that liked children and know how to interact with them. We had horrible nurses in the ER department. She had to stick my son 3 times to get blood from him, and then her and the other nurse were making jokes about it in front of my son. As a nurse myself, it was everything I could do to not lose my mind on them. The doctors were fast to see my son, but the diagnoses were completely off. They didn’t know what to “ diagnosis” him with so they were just throwing things out there that did not even correlate with his symptoms. I had to throw out suggestions to the doctor of what it could be. Just awful care all around and unfriendly staff.
I feel 2 completly different ways about this hospital. I really enjoyed my child’s doctor. She was friendly and funny and really made my child feel comfortable. The rest of the staff was nice and welcoming too. However, I must say that it was the dirtiest medical facility I had ever seen. The waiting room was so discussing that we felt uneasy just sitting down. There where 2 areas of vomit that hadn’t been cleaned up in the 2 hours we had sat waiting. There was trash galore all over the floors and seats. What baffled me was how staff members would walk by it with a blind eye.
Staff was very kind. Only reason I do however give it three is because of the wait... waited 6 hours for extrene sciatic nerve pain. I understand it goes off of a priority basis, however was clearly in dire pain. Nothing. X Ray tech was very rude. Other than that, would recommend.
My son was born premature in Batavia, he was transported to Childrens where he spent 4 horrible months in the NICU there. The communication between doctors and nurses to us parents was HORRIBLE. words cannot even explain how horrible this place is. They misdiagnosed issues, performed and unnecessary surgery, a few of the PA's were absolutely nasty to us parents. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE. when my son was only 4 days old one nurse told us he would be in a wheelchair, have CP, blind and deaf and mentally retarded. this was just the tip of the iceberg for our visit, if i could rate this a 0 star I would
Took our son here because he was in pain. Dx ear infection. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I still don't understand why they built a new hospital (I miss the old one). Honestly, I do not see a difference in wait time. Been here longer than nesissary to be honest. The molding is warped and linoleum is stained badly for being a 2 year old hospital. That's disappointing.
Went in for an appointment today for my daughter. my wife and 1year old where waiting outside for me. Before going to my appointment I was not informed as to how long it would be. Only after arriving, getting checked in, and some eye drops were administratored was I told it would be a 30 min wait. So I informed my wife. Some back story on my vehicle my heat only runs when my truck is moving so my wife who can't drive my truck due to her own personal issue Said she could do 30 min but no more. So I patiently waited and waited till 30 min had passed I figured "okay they will be in soon". Another 10-15 min passed still no one had come in. I decided for my son, and wife's health I would leave. So I did. As expected I received a call 10 min later asking why I left and that the doctor would have been in soon. I explained why I left and with no concern for my wife and son the nurse said back to me " well I informed you it would be a 30min wait". This is when I became upset, the complete disregard for my family and their health was appalling. Very dissapointed in the eye Care staff of this hospital in building 1001 3rd floor "eagle room"....
Took excellent care of our daughter. Didn't leave us sitting around as soon as they had results so did we. The staff is awesome!!!
Worst experience I have had in a hospital setting. Waited for 5 hours for the on call ultrasound technician to even show up.
She is best of all, she is more knowledgeable, a very humble person , an extraordinary, amazing nurse
Nice hospital but same old bad habits from the old children's hospital. Services are extremely slow.
Ridiculous wait, I understand they are under staffed but 7-8 hours in ER is just terrible. I don’t recommend this hospital at all go to urgent care
I was so so disappointed ☹️ I brought my son in for trouble breathIng (they diagnosed with croupe) and got harassed about my choice in vaccinations I give my son. I came for his breathing issues not a harassment of MY right and choices. Won’t be going back unless it’s completely life or death and I don’t have a choice. As a medical professional it’s not ok to be so incredibly rude and make a first time mother feel stupid. It’s all I’ve ever encountered in the medical world and why I don’t go to a place like this unless I’m genuinely concerned. Don’t recommend this place.
Worst experience ever. The parking sucks!! I had to rush my 3 year old daughter from school for having an allergic reaction, this is the closes hospital to her school and when I pull in the emergency room parking all the spots are reserved for doctors. This hospital sucks. Why make a new hospital with no where for sick patients to park???? Never again will I risk my children life taking them to this horrible hospital! I recommend sisters any day.
If there was a zero star I would give it I’ve been here since 10pm in the waiting room it’s now 4am they been taking people before us PLEASE DONT COME TO THIS RAGEDY HOSPITAL go some where else honestly they should just shut this hospital down idk what the doctors doing in the back!!!!!
If I could give 0 stars I would. My first experience here was one of the worst of my life. My 5 day old son was sent to the Emergency Room by his pediatrician due to high bilirubin levels. First of all, we couldn't even figure out how to get to the ER. The woman who checked us in was extremely rude. In the ER, it seemed like no one knew what was going on. We were told our son was being admitted but it took hours to get up to our room. While in the room, I was told to press the call button or call a number if I needed someone and did both THREE TIMES with no response. I had to flag someone down in the hall to help me who didn't know what to do and had to go find someone else. No one seemed to know how to stop the machine in my room from beeping. Communication was extremely poor. Blood was drawn for another bilirubin test and after several hours I asked the result and was told they ordered the wrong test so would have to do another one. It took 4 hours and me asking to realize that? The nurse failed to put the security bracelet on my son until the morning after and said she just forgot. Throughout the night there was no one at the nurses station watching the monitors. I did not feel like my son was in good hands at any point throughout our stay. I will NEVER return to this hospital.
Our emergency room experience here absolutely disgusted me. Letting sick children sit for HOURS in pain and not enough staff to help them. 1am watching a mother by herself struggle with her toddler throw up all over her and herself and the floor. Not anyone to help her. I got up to ask anyone to help her. Only a security guard was available. It breaks my heart top see anyone treated this way especially children They are sitting here coughing and crying. My nephew was rushed here by ambulance from a pediatric immediate care. We have been waiting 3 hours. The emergency room smells like puke. I'm glad so much money was spent to build a brand new hospital to have an experience like this. This it's shameful
******ZERO STARS***** Staff is rude as ever. I gave them insurance information for my sons visit during a summer trip to see his grandmother and all of a sudden i have a bill for $225 for a teenager that's on Medicaid. Their registrars are incompetent & ignorant. I specifically gave them insurance details and I have gotten hung up on smart talked, it's ridiculous!!! Buffalo is already going down rather than being progressive, the people that reside there are the same, down trodden and unproductive..
This is a wonderful hospital we just had our second son here after having our first son three years ago at mercy. The difference is night and day I would recommend this very clean hospital to anybody. The staff was absolutely fantastic on every shift. Everything is thoughtfully about the children and that's what matters, we didn't want to leave. Overall a great experience!
The parking is expensive if you have to stay here for a long time. It's pretty frustrating when you have an infant with multiple health conditions that requires multiple long stays that they don't give you a free parking voucher like Mercy or other local hospitals.
New. facility, New Equipment does not always gurantee good care if the culture of the people running it remains, please to say other than few minor departments the care here and process was great! The good, nursing top notch, access to them cell phone paging. Like all hospitals tend to be understaffed which is a given so a serious event still requires you to be there 24/7 for a while but they accomidated that. Working with care providers for 5 days my wife and I saw the utmost prifessionalism in care, pain management pushing my son to overcome surgical setbacks. The physicians and surgeons made rounds on time always addressed concerns with actions or non action with explaination. We were well informed, dietary was also top notch for hospital food. Rooms were very clean... What could be improved is overall hospital upkeep and cleaning needs a stricter eye to detail, after one year general areas could use a little more attention or hospital will start to look old, carpet cleaning marked walls in hallways stay on top of it. Some of the lab people X-ray blood work etc. we're a bit gruff if you know what I mean, retire those people or reassign them to areas where they do not deal with the public. It is always nice to approach a smile instead of a sourpuss...did not take off the rating for that as it was secondary to the direct care received.
They saved my daughters life and never gave up on her when she was very sick with RSV!
Rude and unprofessional nurses.social workers violated rights.
Just had my baby girl a few days ago and I couldn't be happier with this hospital. I was skeptical because of some of the reviews and bad experiences in the past of other hospitals but Oishei children's was hands down the best. From the admissions room to the Labor room to the what I call the 'going home' room everyone was great. They made me feel like I actually mattered and not just another number patient. They made me comfortable as I could be pain management wise which was awesome since I had to be induced. I cannot stress enough how pleasant the nurses were, doctors, and anesthesiologist and great bedside manners!
Amazing new facility. Clean. Doctors & nurses are top-notch.
